cable...they never tell you when they are working on it...asked one time if they could send an e-mail out for the planned outages...they said it would be to hard to do...but i get at least 2 a month from them trying to sell me their internet phone service...go figure

a friend of mine has cable telephone...he can't wait for his contract to be up to switch back
between the mailing/callings and emails we get from them for the other stuff
maybe they don't even know when it'll be down...wouldn't be surprised
for the unplanned ones i can see....last year went down two nights in a row...at the exact same time...10 minutes after the flip....hard to imagine two unplanned outages happening at the same moment two nights in a row
I have cable, too, can't get used to the phone not working when it's down, it was always a given that our phone worked even when the power was out.

down at my little library there are 4 pc's on satellite internet, I sneaked down there at midnight during the last cable outage to Babble, haha!

that sucks....before my son got married he had cable for his computer and I had dsl...although his was slightly faster mine was much more reliable
and once I drove down the block to find the neighborhood kids had taken the cover off the box, had it in the street using it for skateboard tricks, lol!

justy, there is another route to SSI from Van -- goes to Victoria (Swartz Bay) and then another ferry from there to Salt Spring, but that takes longer and sometimes the connection doesn't work and you hca a two hour wait .

#cos Lickety had run his program before babble site went down so the grid was sitting on licketys site and you can enter words there and see whats what - the only prob then is when Babble comes back up you have to manually type the words into babble if you don't use 'expert'.
Annie, when the site first froze you could get to lickety. After that I could the "could not connect message", but I keep lickety bookmarked anyway.

Too sad to grasp. My friend was diagnosed with brain cancer 2 yrs ago. She became ill in 3rd trimester, was induced at 37 wks, diagnosed 2 days after delivery, and died 6 days after baby's first birthday. Kids are now 9, 5 and 24 mo.
Oh my gosh. Is her husband okay? I cannot imagine that, even though you know my loss story
The kids seem fine, with occ comments about Mom, but they will have to process so much as they develop and have more questions about their Mom.

We are very much advocates for Ireland as a result of our travels. I really have never seen children as beautiful as the Irish babes.
stid, was it very easy to get around?
We went with a tour and the bus driver was excellent. The towns of western Ireland are walkable and delightful to stroll in.
How was the tour? I have been thinking about taking my Mom, but she would probably not do well with the tour option, as all she really wants to do is take photographs on her own schedule!
We also walked to the Giants' Causeway and up to Dunaran ? on Inishmor. The walkways are not always smooth but after thousands of years there can be divits.
And now, Stidg, I am officially Jealous, I think Giants causeway looks amazing.

As they did on her birthday and then Mother's Day, the kids sent balloons to Mommy in heaven. It was so symbolic and touching to take part in that. I sent a balloon off too, then her husband tied 3 balloons on to the "memory tree" out front--it was planted for her in the early summer.
My friend died 1 yr ago tonight and left behind a young husband and 3 young kids--at that time they were 8, 4 and 12 mo.
My sister and her first 2 children lost their Dad?husband when the kids were only 3-4 yrs old
Dad/husband* he was 29 yrs old
She became ill during her last trimester, was induced 3 wks early, diagnosed with brain cancer 2 days after delivery, had surgery 5 days after delivery...radiation, chemo, rehab, much suffering...
What happened and how are they now?
The kids are now 19 and 20 themselves
Oh, I am so sorry. It is just 2 years since very close friends of friends were killed in an accident. Both parents and one sister. A sister and brother were left behind and this week is the boy's Bar MItzvah. There is so much sadness while everyone is trying to make his occasion joyous.
Dad had a nasty sinus Cancer
was diagnosed and lived less than a year after , with multiple major surgeries and including losing an eye
Sister remarried 4 yrs ago and has 2 more beautiful children and wonderful 2nd husband

He was very disappointed to learn that there are no telephones in heaven.
There are so many stories. Just a couple of months ago the father and husband of a family close to us was driving his new daughter-in-law's sisters & brothers home from his son's wedding and was killed. He was the father of 10, the youngest is just 2.
Children are so literal sometimes I think it helps us adults keep it all in perspective
