A Brit clue if ever there was one.
Good morning/evening all. Just about to head off again, this grid needs a bit of work, doesn't it>
yes, but we like a challenge don't we
It isn't a nice grid today Haz ....
Challenge. It's right up there with 'experience' and 'interesting' for when you're too polite to say, 'it stinks!'
I don't like typing in some of the word in this grid - not words I can speak out loud
Anyway, I'd better be off. BYe for now!
They should not be allowed in Gentile company lol
yes, there are some rather vulgar ones...
Bye Haz hgd
I mean, I don't spring soap bubbles and fart angel feathers, but i don't use that word.
I like that MissO - this is a vulgar grid
indeed
to watch a guy ritchie film, though, you'd think it meant "right old chap"
works well with an English accent josh

i suppose it depends on which english accent you mean
"BBC" english

yay! glad you're feeling better!
it's so *boring*!
ahhhhh *shuffles off to the pb*
PB is out of action today, grid is too difficult. I've just decided
I think that is a good rule, so hitting the wall at 26 isn't so bad then

why, ty, BR!
i'm off for a rest see you all later
rest well!
39 to go after scrolling back thru chog -- what a tedious grid!
Good morning
I've been lurking and found it tedious, too, Une.
This is the 'dead' time of the day when few babblers are here, I see.
beyond dead! LOL
considering going to the list . . .
The c words are well nigh killing me.
merk, have you ever played Eight Letters in Search of a Word?
I'm playing at the same time as Babbling right now
it's so addictive
have played off and on for several years
http://tinyurl.com/sfjwm
No, I have not played that before. I just found wordSplay yesterday and killed some time on that. The stopwatch makes me so uptight.
yep, Eight Letters is timed as well -- sometimes fun, sometimes too stressful! LOL
Merk, I thought about you the other day -- NPR had a segment about the future of China and of the power balance with USA
they were predicting that by 2050 China would be THE superpower and that Chinese would become a de rigueur language like English is today
comments?
when you're there, are you teaching children or adults? can't remember . . .
too early for world politics? :-)
ok, off to take out the pups -- BBL
anyone need any clues before I leave?
I was gone a bit and missed your questions. I am teaching adults ... Chinese teachers of English ... some Middle School, some high school teachers. They could pass the US before 2050 and I've been wondering about the Chinese language, too.
The final two cu 6,24 please
And where is the 8?
think of the person who first used x-rays madame cu
one sounds like an Indian dish
cu6 like the spice in indian food
madam cu is a 5/14
ur8
ah, alternate spelling, thanx
Is it built on the ur 7
ur8 nuclear fuel, pl
Hah, as if I know nuclear fuel, but thanks so much.
it's radioactive
In the news Iran wants to enrich it to use in reactors
I got the other cu 6 now.
Oh dud! I need coffee ... got the nuclear fuel.
Cool getting that word from the grid.
Ah, I have finished all of the nasty c words.
lol...almost didn't like typing in the cu 4/6 :)
uran
oops
I desperately need coffee. bbl
I only have 39 words and it feels as if I've been here forever.
it's not an easy one that is for sure
It's like pulling teeth and so many odd words.
fl 5 clue please
nm
Now it' has to be coffee time.
I think so :)
Hi everyone 8) I don't understand why you find this particular grid so difficult. I'm just winging words out. Words like memuc and rmhy. What's wrong with you all?
LOL gramma!
I'm guessing you have had some coffee? :)
Good afternoon everyone. Gramma a good point :)
If only my maths examiners had been as adventurous and open-minded as you, gramma.
Hi elder, HAz, sukee and Merk
You guys go ahead and finish up. I'll be back in a few, for my clues.
Good morning
Hello again - the fresh eyes thing has yielded three more words.
It is a tad taxing for a Sunday grid isn't it.
You speak uncommon good sense, FM.
Hello Haz and Fmitch. Terrible day here started out sunny now its gusty with much rain, must not moan, hearing and seeing the devastation in other parts.
just dull and overcast here...but the good thing is no snow!
Whats for lunch today Haz, I'm feeling peckish? Same here elder although it was a beautiful still morning about 8am
Hello, elder. It's pretty gusty here as well, but as you say, nothing compared to what others have faced. We've come off lightly.
Lunch menu today - Melon with parma ham, Roast beeef with red onion gravy, casseroled vegetable, boiled potatoes, home made apple crumble and custard for dessert.
Oh , is it all over to Haz's for Sunday lunch?
Hearty winter food!
wow, that sounds wonderful...haven't had breakfast yet
drooool! yum yum although I did have a big breakfast this morning so will be eating light for lunch.
I wonder if I can still get a ticket to Haz's and make it by lunch, even for leftovers.
I haven't got the table set yet, so I'm sure I could accommodate a few more.
Haz, I don't eat the meat but will enjoy the rest with glee.Gastric juices flowing at the thought of all that lovely food.
Better set at least another 10 places then Haz and I will get the babble jet out of mothballs.
Looking up last minute flights to N. Ireland...
and crumble and custard for pud Yay!
Beef out of the oven to rest....
And everything else bubbling away nicely.
But, oops, you're in a different time zone. It's 7:25 and probably lunchtime there. And I have a 2 hour drive to the airport, check-in, security lines, I'll never make it.
thank goodness...please do send the babble jet!
Could we do it another day, perhaps?
Hello, Dorens!
Perhaps I had better hire a babble tardis instead then the time zones won't matter :)
Hi Dorens
Hello Dorens
We could reschedule, Sunday lunch is a standard here.
I'd rather do it at my le 7.
you've been busy in the kitchen.. sounds delicious
Were I to go now, I wouldn't even be back by our Thanksgiving day feast or my grandson's birthday.
I made the apple crumble yesterday, the rest gets thrown together in the morning.
I remember we used to have great Sunday lunch/dinners when my mother was alive...
We were originally from Scotland
oh thanks for that le7 Merk, 38 left to find from somewhere.
hi all
at first glance this grid is looking rather impossible
That's interesting, Sukee, Sunday lunch is very much a British standard, or at least used to be. Maybe times are changing here as well.
Hi jmc!
Hello jmc.
Hello, jmc. Prepare to boldly go where no wordsmith has gone before.
We could use the recipe for the dessert, Haz.
I once had a proper biritsh lunch at Robert Maxwell's house in Oxford... rather impressive
I should bring back the tradition, have friends over for Sunday dinner
It is a hard grid today Dorens
Dorens, it's more fun than a barrel of monkeys. (LOL)
yikes I can barely do this when the grid is full of fish!
rumple - well I haven't seen you in ages!!!!!!!!!
dare I ask? do we have lickety's list?
We do, Dorens.
YEs thank goodness we do have lickety but it doesn't help that much
rumple busy baking fantastic pies??
Not that any of us geniuses are likely to look near it.
Hi, FMitch, I've been back about a week and we do have Lickety's list. Helps a bit.
Is Tongue in cheek font showing up?
ha! that le4 me out haz
Welcome back rumple, hope all is well on the farm
Me 5 me, Haz, speak for yourself. The list is not helping me, but I've glanced at it in a bind.
May I, as Morewords worldwide representative, remind you of its existence? I haven't used it yet, but I have a funny feeling that I will. Often and with gratitude.
lol
with a grid like this i am sure to use the combination of lickety and morewords soon
hello rumple.
Thanks, Hubby had a dissected Aortic aneurism and nearly died, but is doing better now. Very weak and slow.
hi elder
haz, i have recommended morewords more than once to certain people.... don't know why they don't take the hint
Poor husband! Best wishes for his recovery.
oh no, rumple, sorry to hear that. it must have been very dificult time, glad he's better now
i actually had a hard time understanding how to use more words for the grid.
Oh, Rumple, what news! I'm glad he is recuperating, if slowly.
Dorens, some people just like to have others do the work.
Oh so sorry to hear that rumple, heres to a good recovery for him, you must have had your hands full!
glad to hear hubby is improving
I'm back and ready for my clues from all you finishers
good luck with that gramma
i've gotten to the point where i won't even bother cluing for some of them. and I do like to clue
(Makes note that gramma has got a very optimistic streak in her)
Umm don't know how to tell you gramma but none of us have finished yet
Rumple, what a worry for you both , wishes for a speedy recovery.
Aaaah come on. Share with me, please.
I'm the same, Dorens. I like to clue but being made to jump through hoops isn't my scene.
ditto what Haz said
What's it worth, gramma?
should I leave the room haz and dorens?
I vowed I was not going to eat breakfast until I was half done. I will either have to cave in or die trying.
gramma we will share what we have, if you ask for the right words
No, you're absolutely not who we're talking about, jmc.
We will begin with the letter A and end with Z. Does that make it easier?
this is NOT the grid to do that with merk
not at all jamc
j you know you're not who we're talking about
i am glad since i try not to ask for every word and I try to clue
Merk I think you might need breakfast to sustain you through the search
Sounds like I came at the right moment! Morning. I like to clue when I can but hate doing someones whole list.
but some times it feels like i am aking for every one
hi hoot
morning hoot
i am guessing i will not make nbt before i go to meeting today
Hello Hoot.
Hi hoot, hows the family?
No, jmc, there are some few who seem to demand clues and plenty of them. And they NEVER remember eyrie or aerie. Never.
hello all
Hi - far as I know the family is fine. Will be calling them later
tough grid today
First rule of any babbler, learn your sea-birds and your eagles' nests.
hi peri
hello peri.
morning peri, yes indeed
HEY! I'm right here. I can hear you. (tears streaming down)
Hi peri!
Hello peri. It's very tough today, you're right.
how are you FM?
are you in your new home yet?
Howdy, peri.
I doubly resent the ones who don't remember a word from the previous day...or the previous 3 days.
halfway, bbl
eyrie or aerie are not my strong suit either
wtg and bye merk
Hi all
hi blue
Hello Blue.
morning blue
Yes, but jmc, you've been doing the grid for a short time.
Hi peri, not yet am staying at a hotel but will be moving on Thursday to new house.
Didn't realize there were rules like that Haz.
Hello, blue.
good luck with the move haz
Wishing you much happiness and peace in your new home, FM
Rules? I'm moving? I've not finished cooking lunch yet!!
thank you :)
a year next week
lol
LOL perhaps you are moving to the kitchen to feed all us hungry babblers?
BBL
sorry, i did mean FM, i do know the difference!
bye gramma
We could draw up quantities of rules but they'd only be broken.
none for me -- i have a cold and i am not hungry
LIke the one that says you have to pay me every time I give a clue. People seem to ignore that one ALL the time.
and it would be interesting trying to get people to agree on the rules, too (not us of course, we would agree)
I remember one person who told us we were there to clue all the words for her.
*calculating amount owed haz and hiding in corner*
dream on Haz
I think we reckoned that between us we could rule the world, didn't we, Dorens?
Haz, how rich you would become. Then you could send the meals over to us.
really some one said that hoot?!?
absolutely
yup.
A few tweaks here and there and Dorens and I would have things running smoothly.
*jaw drops*
One lady in particular doesn't like using any other resource. She likes to see how clever we can be.
There have been some classic moments in the log over the years.
Company here, better make tracks for the kitchen!
I don't remember who it was but she was told very politely that the cluing was for AFTER she had tried her best.
Bye for now....
bye haz
Just seen the season word, aahh..
and that was one of them hoot
i love the people who ask and ask and demand second and third clues and then don't even say thank you
Bye HAz and bon apetit
well i kinda like seeing how clever we all can be too
Bye Haz, enjoy lunch.
oh haz's company doesn't include us???
ty elder
common courtesy seems to have disappeared in society as wel as in babbleland
bye haz
And fireworks for me.
my allergies are bothering me today :(
yesyyesyes!
whoo hoo zooz
zooz your folding has really taken off!
Wow congrats zooz!
Well done Zoozz.
gee zooz - congrats
i find most people say ty but not so many say please
I always say pls and thank you, I appreciate the help. but I do use lickety and morewords
lots of words of encouragement even (perhaps especially) when I am having a dumb day
thanks Jmc, i was doing the folding for the group Crossie is in, then i heard Ata saying babblers had one going so switched over :-)
Takes little energy to say a thank you.
there are a few I wonder why they play since they don't seem to have the word knowledge
ah! I wish more would join. I added my laptop as well as my work computer
well hoot as you have perhaps noticed i am a terrible speller
ahh, that explained the `1` at the end..lol
there needs to be a beginners Babble like in Scramble
and i joined the spelling club in the hopes that it would improve my spelling
Urf, must go stretch my legs for 10 mins, haven't for a word in the last half hour, back in a little while.
i was afraid of the water so I joined the swim team
bye FM fresh eyes help!
Bye for now FMitch.
if there had been a beginners babbler I would have never met all you guys!
it was the people that kept me coming back
ok, my brain is fried after this grid, and that is with Morewords & lickety...going to lye down for a while.
bye zooz
Not being a good speller is not the same as not knowing the words. Just this week alone I was stumped on at least a 1/2 doz words I couldn't spell right
bye FM
not being a good speller helps with babble! lol
yes! Monkeying is good.
hi, folks!
Why there are variations in Enable I'm sure even Webster didn't know existed!:D
hi welki
i am QUITE su4 of that hoot
yup
gm
hi kje
good thing i didn't have to write an aptitude test prior to being allowed to play babble ... would have failed miserably :)
me too welki
are things evening out for you now, jmc? you must be exhausted
sigh i had such hopes that innier would work! lol
i am okay welki -- glad to have the funeral over
now i just have to find a local attorney to help with the estate
now i just have to find a local attorney to help with the estate
oops sorry for the stutter
with a little luck, the estate settlement will go quickly and you can get back to "normal," whatever that is :)
Hi All, jmc, my Mother and Dad offer their condolences to you.
my first word is a ur 6....not sure what that signifies.
ok, got all the 4s, time for breakfast
hi red, thank your parents for me
wtg sukee
the estate is fairly straight forward except selling the condo
Time for a break. bye for now..
bye elder
sigh red i was sure that word would come off the corner U
sadly it did not...
radioactive stuff from the corner U
Good morning Babble buddies.
ty rbud i see it now!
hi scrabs
TY, rbyd
I mean rbud (waking up and getting caffeinated here)
TY rbud!!! and hello scrabbler. Will BRB, going to see what my Mom wants.
rbud i love your icon!
Looks like a tough grid with these letters
definitely scrabs
there is ur 6/7/7/8 with same 5 first letters, but not all from the corner, I guess
back from long phone call (phoebe and her father).good morning red and scrabs
Hi Doren. How fun to talk with Phoebe. What did she have to say?
she was playing her kazoo, and told me about which dances from the nutcracker she likes best
ty, jmc :)
I am takng her to the ballet in a couple of weeks, sent her a book to prep her, and her dad has been playing the music. she likes sugar plum fairies and also the soldiers (no surprise)
She will be wide-eyed
I sure hope so. unfortunately, she is coming home from switzerland just the day before.. hope jet lag won't have set in yet
thanks rbud, found the ur6/7/7/8
me too now, ty rbud
still looking for me! '-)
is this off the pee or the radioactive?
radioactive
ty dorens
getting there
end with the evening jmc
hi joanne
good morning
Hi joanne
well the Mustang goes to bed for the winter wahhh
a convertible?
heck no, that would mess up the hair lol
hi scrabbs
i love my son's mustang convertible -- the wind tossed look su4s me
joanne did you send me a note in fb?
lol no it's a dark candy apple metallic red with scoop tho
the other day??
what year?
2008
yes just a day or two ago
yes indeed
why are you putting it away then? not old and rusty or a convertible
how many words today??
ty -- i lost my score card by which i tell all the players when my laptop was stolen
146
146 Joanne
ohh the hubby wants to keep her pretty and they don't drive well on the snow
146 tough ones
ty
ah well even the 2008 is too burly
we have a 1983
i see that and at 65 and puffing hard now
hi pab
geez, what is it with people and mustangs - my friend's dad was the exact same way about his
hi jmc
a guy thing
hey i love the mustang -- my fantisy car is a 1964 1/2
i wanna get him a license plate for Christmas that says"" my#2gal""
at least it better be lol
lol joanne
what are the stats on the Y, please?
4/9
my fave, too, je .. you know, they sold for under $2500?
ty hursh *looking*
got it for 23900
i bought it for his birthday
I remember the first time i saw a car i wanted that cost more than $10,000 -- a tricked out corvette
nice birthday present!
omg he loves corvettes
(my birthday is July 31 joannne)
some corvettes are loveable some not so much
same as harry potter
I was just watching nrkii's FB link to Silent Monks doing Hallelujah---brilliant + hilarious!!
more muscle than brain the corvette
yeah but luck was on my side and his mom gave him a cheque for 25000 to pay it off hehe
now i would like a Lamborghini
will check that out scrabs but still trying to get to halfway point before anything else
lol sound more like a gift from his mom!
it twas
...or a bricklin, easy in, easy out :)
so i had to get the mufflers done so she sounds mean
there are some weird words in here
you got fart cans?
anyone in your rich family want to finance me in getting a master's degree, jo? :)
lol
*passes around a hat for hursh's masters degree*
assuming fart cans is not a clue?
hubby's uncle passed so it was a good thing got in a bad way
not clue, reference to unmuffling mustang mufflers
fart cans = resonators
no sorry fart cans are add on to cars to make them sound more burly than they are
often negatively affects performance
the sort of things i feel like cursing out when I encounter them on the road? annoying noise
LOL @ fart cans
def negativly effects listeners. BBL - cooking show time
yeah, i hate those. and motorcycles.
yes, those are the ones, dorens. illegal in calgary
if you see a car with really big ends to the tail pipes and sounding loud that is what i am talking about

yes you all have it correct -- now you can impress 20 something boys with your konwledge of slang
lol wleki
*lol welki
lol
ty hoot for the correction i waffled between affect and effect for some time :-)
I am losing it over the three mu's between the wall painting and the one that sounds like the noise cats make.
shall we discuss spoilers?
you're correct, je .. the noise affects you, the noise has an effect
i've got one there that rhymes with cu4 disease fixer

you need boys around to answer yours, ata, lol
i love greek yogurt
Still looking, Ata...Zelda, no. Rune, no...
Halo, no
me too... 0% fat and tastes like sour cream. eat it almost every day
how very sexist, hurshy ;)
Greek yogurt is expensive though
sexist, statistically accurate - potayto, potahto
take regular yogurt and drain it
LOL
trader joe's makes one much cheaper... but you probably don't have one there?
really? I know a lot more girl gamers than boys
No TJ's here
you live in a unique bubble
jmc did you see my new grandchild on fb?
unless UK and US are really different
and this game took brains, not shooting ability :P
so to answer your question belatedly ata -- Delta provides wifi on the plane and in the air
no joanne I will have to go look later

cross-purposes chat is one of my pet peeves :)
hello, everyone, and goodbye! Back to baking and tennis in London! :-)
but it is so fun hursh!
hi and bye une
(will tennis never be over?)
I bought Myst when it came out--never finished it
jmc! London just started and in January, we have the Australian Open! :-)
I am playing tennis in a few hrs--sore from playing Fri + yesterday
I never got past the first section I spent hours inthe western town
as we have seen with the fart cans, one person's fun is another's annoyance :)
you've got to think *very* laterally lol
lol
yikes! so you are saying it WILL never be over
byeeee *poof*
i always thought my copy was broken
I thought my copy of Riven was broken for ages too. Until I figured it out
i can honestly say i never heard the expression "fart cans either"
glad to educate the general populous
either i am to young for the expression or dang too old??
populace
ty hursh (there is that spelling thing -- spell check can only do so much to help me) :-(
don't like that latter part
I can't see any words in this grid apart from mercurial
i refuse to be old
i'm 26 hehe
lol ata
dorens, i have indulged non-stop since arriving ... foods i can't find easily at home (other than the yogurt) .. knishes, corned beef and pastrami, italian food, brazilian food, date nut bread, cream soda .. i am in heaven! (and babysitting now, which is nice, too :)
where are you visiting welki?
yikes welki i just gained 10 pounds
jersey
so close by! come swing down here!
one thing we can say for jersey, we can access good foods. having fun welki?
we're having REAL pizza for lunch this afternoon ... gaining weight, too, joanne, but i don't care (just another drop in the bucket)\
do you not have real pizza in canada?
mmmm pizza
what makes pizza real anyway?
a blast, dorens .. my sister and her family are coming by this afternoon. tomorrow, my oldest daughter and i are shopping .. and going to try that perfume peri's been talking about
yeast helps and garlic
Each person has their own pizza preference
real pizza and real bagels rely on the water the dough is made with. for pizza, it's also the brand of cheese and toppings\
Aaarrrgh. I am just back from 2 weeks of non-stop eating and drinking. I daren't even fit on my non-holiday clothes!!
*hands soodle a mumu*
you only get real pizza in Italy *smug European* LOL :P
some stores in florida ship ny water (which is actually adirondack water) south to make their bagels
where are you shopping? bridgewater mall?
i like to make pizza
bagels really do need the right water.... people in LA have them flown in
used to do it from scratch but cheaped out with pre-made dough
probably bridgewater. i don't have any make-up .. honestly, i have no make-up, so i'm thinking of buying some. need the kid to help me
name that proper noun (for ata)! they keep killing...
okay I give up on nbt or anything else before meeting
^5 dorens on the water thiong
daleks!
ut oh .. i hear baby stirring
TW, not DW
i got nbt, but needed lickety to get there, i confess
torchwood has daleks. kinda
and she's so fun to keep killing
*playing Cat Stevens for us now*
but daleks isn't in the grid!!!
*sings to scrabble* ohhh, baby, baby, it's a wild world....
they are in the void beneath it
well on that note I am off to meeting and i will try not to meditate on daleks and cat stevens
old or new scrabs?
*poof*
lol
awwww, i can hear her cooing on the monitor .. the baby, that is :)
must be old, cause he isn't cat stevens anymore.. .his new stuff is Yusuf, right?

kind of tough being part of the group that dosent use hydro or mirrors though
mirrors??
never heard that
yup
vanity
seems mirrors = vanity
snap
weird
morning all
haha
howdy dan
Hi Dan
morning dan
since it's in today's grid, a funny story about the worst swear word: http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle /2007/jul/28/weekend.jonronson
they still seem very cultish to me
but you are secure in knowing you will always have a place,a few acres of land,a barn and a house
like inner breeding
i watched a group of them do a barn raising in a single day
i seen that on a show
they do work well together
all joint and peg construction;)
as a team
they are the original ultimate home renovation crew;)
it was awesome to watch
must be annoying though, to have tourists constantly coming to see them when all they want is to live a simple life.
like bees..all knew what to do and when
what i recently learned is the mrs has to make sure there is a minimum of 6 months of food on hand in the pantry at all times, imagine spending all of sept and oct doing nothing but canning
well they are probably letting people know who they are and want outsiders know their knowledge??
in kitchener ontario, they are such a regular site hurshy that we pretty much let them be
dan2bit - just read the piece in the Guardian. ROFL!!!
I'm looking for excuses to start using limone as a curse word :-)
this H1N1 thing is driving me crazy
Its a good word - 'limone'. You can inject a lot of venom into it, if you wanted to!!! :)
id rather them than the darn jehovahs beating down your door every weekend
unrun should be a word. the old marathoner died last week, leaving his last race unrun.
when daughter was having baby..an Indian couple come in with what?? a baby..why would you bring a baby into a hospital
ohh crossy i seen Jehovahs coming to the door and i cranked HELLS BELLS on the cd
Funny story, Dan. TY for sharing
was that bad??
o pur a few shots of whiskey and make sure there is a porno playing on tv
don't think they ever came back
You are right, Hurshy
I have a question about my dog
go ahead
Dachshund 8mths old, adopted a mth ago, spayed 3weeks ago at a clinic. These symptoms existed before spaying. She craps a lot all day, solid health looking and each morning she eats grass to throw up. I have given her a D-Wormer for Large Ringworms so far because she is always looking at her butt.
someone said that to me the other day and i said, "i often am" - i don't think i knew them well enough to have joked that.
food change?
sue,if she eats a lot of grass, especially in the morning when there is still dew or moisture on it,she can pick up parasites..have a vet examine her
and yes make sure the food is not loaded with corn or corn by-products
hi ALL
howdy boo
For Crossy--http://canucklehead.ca/look/be er_bacon.html
syefrad625 she probably needs her anal glands cleaned out. a vet can do it.
funny but i have a beagle that looks at his butt but like to eat poop
lol scrabbs
anal glands should be done regular
we had a dog once that used to eat stones
omg cross
looking at butt fine .... scooting / nibbling more likely to show anal glands needing to be done
can't fathom that coming back out
Joanne, anal glands problems vary from dog to dog. Some need regular attention, others never.
it did, certanly clean him out..passing a pound of gravel and stones
Haz! La Glitterata!
we had to eventually muzzle him on walks till he got a bit older
he's a very jettery dog..and i know i spelled that wrong
Hello! Trust me to arrive when dogs are being discussed.
lol cross
well there's a change of pace
jagged stones ..ouch
better than lolly sticks lol
he grew out of it bast lol
fast
ouch ouch
but the poo eating..why??
it's a very natural thing in the animal kingdom. poo contains a good amount of energy
my other beagle does not
it's a phenomenon of humanity to be disgusted by things that are no longer part of the body... fingernail clippings, for instance
Bunnies eat some of their poops. Some are produced in cecum and these are full of vitamins.
well good for him / her :) most animals will eat poo if necessary. it's a much better energy source than scaveging leaves / dead stuff etc
he don't eat his poop that i know..just my other one's
Mom is on the phone--whining, complaining
PHone.
I am patiently listening
he was in an apartment before and got scolded for pooping in the house so i thoght maybe he does it so he doesn;t get hit
omg scrabbss again
possibly. or possibly just likes the taste
we give them carrots as treat before bed
maybe cos it tastes better than carrots
LOL
LOL
lmao
hi all
Hi Kallia
like a spice
Joanne, this is just the first of what will likely be 2-3 phone calls today
Hi Scrab
omg sorry scrabbs
can you mom dial you locally to get ahold of you scrabbs?
see,if you are far enough away that it is long distance, then you almost never hear from them;)))
one thing i will say about calls..is..i work alot and my mom used to say.""god ,i can never get a hold of you"" then not long after she passed...i can never get those calls back
there's always cheap calling plans to find :P
that is true joanne,we may lose my wifes father this year,no turning back the clock
exactly
cherish what is there now
what does the 8 start with?
ur8/55
ur
hmm, got a 7 but... will look

that doesn't exist in the puzzle
from the earth
my sister has spent the last 20 years hating my dad, never calling keeping her kids away, now he has korsakoff,s syndrome and half the time wouldnt know his name even if god carved it across the sky,she has lost those years but my son has precious memories of geanpa..mmm enough of that joanne..time to attack this grid and have a tea i think

eeeek! my suede jacket!
ahh kettle is ready, who wants a nice hot cuppa?
*gets out the silly string*
me me!
who wants to compare 7's?
I'm missing 1
i have cy, nu, ru, su, ti, ur x2
cy, le, nu, ru, sc, su, ti, urx2
Crossy, Ilive 35 miles away from my parents, so it is a local call. My mother never calls my out-of-town sister--won't spend money on long distance calls. So I get 1-4 calls/day.
le and sc cool thanks
and 1 more somewhere
right.
scrabss move just a little more
it's not schmuze
Two ru 7.
tyty haz!!11!!
ty haz!
You're welcome! One's a plural, the other a comparative.
but because im married to her daughter,i get all the phone bills,so i dont know which is worse scrabbs;)
It's ok, joanne. I realize that someday I will miss these calls
a pl? interesting
yeah, i don't think i have the singular
nor me
ru6 - the sort of exercise not undertaken by marathon people.
I am finished except for the 2 mu's I can't find. The 6th and 7th from the top of the mu's
ahhhh
hey, that finishes the r's

my mom was only 59
my mom is turning 59 in january!
Please a clue on the mu/4 and mu/5 - 6th and 7th down from the beginning of the mu's
i say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your mom
right after the wall painting
mu5 - painted on a wall, take away the last lettter for mu4
I have those, must be the two above those then. My last 2 words
wow, i am older than hurshy's mom. this makes me feel aged
Then mu plus the opposite of out, backwards and its plural.
thank you very mu**
You are all youngsters. I will be 76 in a week
dorens only as old as you feel
Or, m plus the start of third level place of education.

You have to have some sort of release with this sort of grid.
i'm stuck and i haven't even got to the dreaded 14 yet
i'm at 15. close enough to your dreaded 14.. but i did succumb to the list
it's these s's and c's
they are a problem.
thought I would ch5 in and say.. they are
ooh thanks ruru
hi ruru
love that word even it's a disgusting thing
finally at ten
and by the way... the prettiest kitty in the world resides here in napa valley
napa valley, kent, UK
We have a late entrant in the prettiest kitty competition.
can we say we all have kitties AMONG the prettiest in the world?
Dorens is heading for the Diplomatic corps.
no, cos Sily IS the prettiest. LOL :P
nope.just the prettiest ever...
let's get him, ata *whipped cream ready*
(as a guidance counselor, I frequently attempt conflict resolution in a peaceful manner)
*squuuoooooooosh*
You have a very soothing tone, Dorens.
* wipes off face.. I hate banana cream pie *
i don't like cats but i wanna steal back daughter's cat
cats like whipped cream, prettiest or not
Hello all - had a look at your "pretty kitty" pic Ata and took quite a while to figure out which way is up
But maybe donning a tin hat might be the best option.
she's my princess
Hello everyone!
amazing i can get the tone out in chat log, isn't it?
Hello, Brookie. Got a pretty kitty?
It's a gift, Dorens.
hello brookie
Hi Haz, hi Dorens, no pretty kitty to report.
Sily only likes single cream
plus.. my cat is super-talented
well thanks haz... just wish i had adopted it earlier, when my kids were around... unfortunately they remember something slightly different
Finally! I think I'll let the fireworks run for as long as it took me to complete this grid.
yay gramma!
congrats gramma
It's something of a relief. THere are only so many prettiest kitties a grid can take.
Well done, gramma!
she types emails and makes phone calls
I'm glad I can help in a passive way, Haz.
Yikes. Can I help any1 before I get on with my life?
Silverclaw has an official internet fan club
well i have two and one is among the prettiest, the other is sort of silly looking, but good personality
Did she set it up herself, Ata, or did you have to help?
mitten and i have decided that we are secure in her status as prettiest ever and therefore won't argue about it anymore.
*dreamer*
her fans did it without even telling me!
Afternoon all Finally put this horrid grid to bed.
congrats, FMitch.. I have two to find
Hurshy is taking the moral high ground, leaving Ata and ruru to compete for most talented and prettiest cat in the history of the world EVER.
does that mean your done fm, or about to be?
Hi FMitch
Hello, FM.
oh, i see, thought you had written putting... i can't read now i see
did you tuck it in too FM?
yay to fm and almost yay to aloy
hi FM!
Glad to say I am done with it, one of the hardest I remember for a while. LOL ruru
well we all know Sily is the prettiest lol
I agree, FM.. that's why I've been lurking .. (hello all!).. so I could concentrate
It's funny, it's such a horrid grid and yet few people are asking for clues. Is everyone shell-shocked?
Hi Haz Ata ruru Dorens Aloy Brookie hurshy et al
I am not sure about EVER haz.. but currently.. she is tops
i don't know what to ask for, cause i haven't opened the list.
lots have probably given up Haz
Chink in ruru's armour...... not sure of EVER. Ata?
i'm down to 7, but think i should open morewords before asking
can't be, cos Sily is the prettiest EVER
well, i can ask for one. lower T, i have te4/4, what's the other?
Haz, I think everyone's too mezmerized on who will will the pretty kitty contest, to notice the puzzle, which apparently is secondary.
A disputable, if you ask me, tz4.
*will win*
russian ruler hursh
I think you're right, Brookie. We need the distraction.
oh that old chestnut. thanks haz & FM
lol, last word was yu4.9, SO appropos to this grid!
za6, zi4, and...?
how many inches on those rulers? FM?
sorry to disagree but here's the prettiest kittie!
Well done, Aloy!
good morning all
ze4 - German sounding
Yay congrats Aloy ruru you are on a roll there :)
ty

thank you ruru
by aloy
I didn't have trouble with this grid until I got to 40 left.. then if was a very slow crawl..
oh. I killed the chat again.
Intersting how people feel about individual grids, this was a hard one for me but there have been others that I zoom through when babblers are struggling. I found the 2nd letter u words really got me today.
i'm finding this particularly challenging
there are many words I have never seen before..
yeah, i'm at dreaded 14 now and really stuch.
last 10 took me an hour.
I hate S words for some reason
All that cat adoration has just drained you of inspiration.
done... out of my misery
obviously!
Well done!
yay dorens!
Any left overs in your kitchen HAz, I fancy a beef and horsradish sarnie?
Congrats Dorens!!
i want some of that apple crumble with custard
Some beef.
And a little apple crumble.
lol Dorens lets go see whats left :)
I want aero cheesecake please
It wasn't on the menu!
want it anyway! :P
Trust Ata to be picky!
I know. I'm pretending not to notice.
I'm being all soothing and diplomatic like Dorens.
good way to lose haz's vote in the pretty kitty contest...
I'm sure she has some in the freezer somewhere
I'm going to have to rely on Haz for decent food till January - our oven died yesterday
We'll blame it on the flu,
Yes, because if it goes to deadlock, somebody has to have the deciding vote and it definitely isn't going to be Simon Cowell for he is not to be trusted.
and you can't get a new one till next year?
the public are doing a good job in Celebrity
January sales ...
of for heavens sake!
shows how much you dont use it then if you can wait that long!
well, still have the hob. I couldn't survive that long without that!
it's just the actual oven that's dead
I'd be demented if I didn't have the oven.
this is D being "economical" again. because - get this ...
no, you'd be deovened
Even though there is only me I would be lost w/o my oven
what kind of priest comes to an oven funeral
he's decided to do an MSc next year. It costs £25k. He's already signed up and told me I'm going to have to spend even less to afford it
can some1 please help me with me,4
a half-baked one?
memu
close
close Rhonda - change the last letter
me plus the title women give to themselves who don't want to give away marital status. Not Mrs, Not Miss, but?
"here lies Ata's oven.. may she rest in heat"
*groan*
I just use Dr *smug*
thank u vm
Happy Sunday, Babblephiles.
Hello, Judi. How are you?
S'all good!
Hi Judi Happy Sunday to you too.
(Makes note that Judi may not have started the grid yet)
I have started. Down to 73.
And you're still this cheerful?
You don't happen to be in possession of the prettiest kitty in the world? That might explain your happy mood.
heh heh
Well, the groceries are bought and put away. I threw the dog off the new sectional sofa (she growled at me). I'm drinking coffee and have no immediate responsibilities.
Groceries bought and put away - bliss.
I have boy cats - so they prefer not to be called "pretty". Alas, my handsome boy looks identical to Ata's Sily, though.
all cats are pretty
That opens up a whole new section of the competition. Handsomest cat, anyone?
marty is clearly the handsomest.
Lucius I would think
Oh could your boy and Sily meet and have the worlds best kittens?
An Antipodean contender....
Trouble is the handsomest cat. He'll be partly my cat soon
only if the vet will reverse a spaying ;)
That's a slight complication.
BRB got cramp
Both of my cats are neutered. No kittens.
You mean all these pretty and handsome genes are going to fade out?
Just to throw in a different topic of conversation i bought a dongle today :)
you can buy those?
i thought you had to be born with them.
And are you pleased with your purchase?
Amazing what technology can do these days.
I'll bite. What's a dongle?
pardon my ignorance .. but what is a dongle
LOL hursh!
sorry to interrupt could you clue nu7/36 plz
It It plugs into the laptop and gives me immediate wifi access
It's something technological that allows you to access wireless internet and things. I think.

brandyjack!!!!!! Long time, hope you are well.
Hello Brandyjack. I predict an outpouring of !!!. Nice to see you!
just a figment of your imagination. when you're good, you're good.....
ty brandyjack
and you are good - great to see you.
actually I was referring to Hushy's imagination.....
figment sounds like a strange word
Ahh but I was remembering back to the old days pre lickety and all that
me? have an imagination? noooo.
is that PL and AL?
somebodies been playing babble too long....
Looking suitably guilty along with FM and Ata and a good few others.
yup there are still quite a few of us that fall into that categoriy :)
the words in today's grid are most definitely not form the english language. Well, except for a few of them.....
* feels like a newbie *
i refuse to feel guilty for playing a lot of babble.
ditto
you can't be a babble newbie if 'figment' sounds unusual......
I sometimes feel guilty but get over it quite quickly.
playing babble is good for the digestion.
yep, usually just before i hot enter on the first word......
I never feel guilty I just blame Dr_G
know I'm getting old and blind when I can't even see the keyboard and mispell the words.....
we all blame FM for everything and FM blames doc...
such is the right way with life hursh :)
bj, you look a lot like a doctor of my acquaintance.
Why blame him? He obviously has no conscience or he would never have unleashed this addiction upon the world....
was this 'doctor' carrying a double-bitted battle axe as well? MIght want to find a new one....
lol, no, just the face
help with my6, please?
pic is from halloween party as a viking....
he certainloy was for todays grid bj, one of the hardest for a while.
he's not MY doctor anyway
my6 - one who claims to see things others don't.
ty vm haz.
You're welcome.
you must be a my6 to get all the words.
a viking *giggle* bj I will always remember you with your captains hat on as pictured in one of my penalty box recreations.
not many pictures of me around, had to choose something...
Indeed, mixi, or at least prepared to pound out the strangest combinations.
Have a look at the 2nd pic in my flikr pics bj
Okay, time for me to depart. Nice to see you all and have a good day!
Bye for now.
Bye Haz thanks for the chat
I need to go too and deal with the lack of oven ...
No problem. *gone*
Bye Ata too and I will be off shortly as well
Afternoon Babblers.
nice pic Fmitch. Don't recognize the reference to Q and slithery fellow though...
dont know why somone who makes Fl** could not be a Fl**ist.
just picked up one of those amazing antuqie hospital beds they used to use it the 1920,s;) the type with the netal tubular headboards with the flower motif stamped in the metal and its on wooden casters;)..thing is solid as a rock;))
metal
sounds like something from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest crossy
lol
Ah that is a reference to those who clue using hoops and snakes when they mean Os and S's BJ :)
Cool Crossy, what on earth do you intend to do with it, roll Mrs/ Crossy up and down with the nightengale part...?
lol, needed a bed for crossy jr
I have invented a wonderful word (doesn't quite appear in today's grid) - it would get a lot of use, I think: leicize - "to adorn with leis"
better and cheaper to buy antique than new theese days
IU must away Hi amnd bye to those that have just arrived and good to see you agaoin BJ

hi peri
Hi Peri :)
glad I am no longer talking to myself :)
Hi peri and soodle. Nice cat pythonx. I'm just getting a few words in edgewise.
Hey Stid :)
Hello irish connection. all going smoothly?
Just back home after 2 glorious weeks in Lanzarote - off the African coast. I'm FREEZING!!
un6/24 pls
You've been away! How nice. I'll look up Lanzarote in the atlas. It is cool here today also with a breeze. One storm after another for the past week and a half. We are looking almost as green as Ireland.
glad you had a good time, Soodle
don't have it peri
Ha! Ireland is no longer green. Its under water. Worst flooding in 1000 years!!!! Rumours abound about a chap building an Ark, and collecting pairs of animals!!!
ok, will keep looking
I only have one un and that is to bring together.
thanks, have that one
I read about some flooding which seems to be occuring everywhere. Our rivers are at flood stage in several parts. Snohomish, Toutle, Cowlitz, and others. All Native American names.
There's one very close to the un you found, stedgmere.
Yes, the un that means a part of and plural that.
Aye, that's the one.
un 6/24 not confident
Thanks, now, I'm confident.
Ah!! thanks Neschen!

Looking forward to flying home, Omni?
damn straight... however from here, watching the news ver the last ornight, it appears that half my country is on fire....
wish i could take the weather with me across the ditch :(
Sorry for my ignorance, because I haven't seen the news lately, but where is there a fire?
Oh, you know, the one thats usually on fire due to the fact its like 4" from the surface of the sun, Australia :P
Ah, there. Thanks for the update.
What part of Australia do you live in?
Yeah. thanks Miss Omni. Seriously, you would think that we all lived on different planets, the way the weather differs.
Melbourne currently though i was born and grew up in western australia - perth
That's one country I would love to visit.
True that Soodle, the uk is flooding! woah...
ill trade you guys fire for water eh?
It is nice in parts Brookie, though in nearly every part some critter or environment wants to kill you... lol
That's what I've heard... although it's pretty much the same among the human residents in my hometown, Philadelphia. :-)
ditto for Dublin...............
oh wow
i do need to snag me an irish fella tho... i love the accent, i wishi had an irish tone... instead of being a crass aussie lass.
Oh for goodness sake! they may talk with a nice accent, but its the same old bullsh*t they come out with!!
I did go through an Irish phase with men I was dating, and it was the same nonsense... at least itsounded better :-)
old saying....Same shite / different accent!!
Soodle, I love everything you have written in your profile... hilarious!
Ah! My aim is to bring a smile!!!
By any chance are you a comedy writer?
Oh, I wish! Currently working on writing a book, but its slow slow slow
But thank you so much for asking....
What kind of book (besides the kind you read)?
A sort of Irish chick-lit book, crossed with Harold Robbins/Jackie Collins ( I live in hope)
I'm sure it will be good. Gotta go now and spend time with my children... I'm afraid I've ignored them a bit too long! Have a nice evening!

Lickety tells me what's missing...but I still have to figure out the words

hello, jili!
hello all
thisw grid is full of useless obscure words
when I get to that point I kind of give up. But if being thorough was part of my OCD I would do that.
well, if you want to finish, that's the way to go.
this is not a speed game like theothers, thank goodness
hello, babblers

You are real people?????
tomorrow is my last day here, owl ... where are you?
i thought you were here for thanksgiving. have beenwokring since monday, worked the weekend coming home tues pm
Kap, I do those things but don't give up -- I go to morewords to see what cockamamie things are there -- and get the definitions by clicking on the ? beside them in the list (you know about that, don't you?)
no, well, at least i'm not ... real, that is. simply a vapour, a figment of your imagination :)
no kap . we are jsut messing with you
i am tired tired tired. drving to nj/ny line for thursday. sick of driving
we're just cyberpeeps
actually we are all perverts and axe murderers. with a few stalker thrown in
speak for yourself, owl. i'm harmless :)
oops -- dryer buzzing -- must get the dog out, heh heh
That's not true at all, TO. I use a knife, not an axe.
that's what they all say :P
professionally, even!
jilli!!!! LOLOL
oh my babblers coming out of the woodwork
That's the reason we need the axes, TO. To cut ourselves free from the woodwork.
always fun to diuscuss mass murder
owl, what you need to do is plan a ski trip to banff and i can meet you in my neck of the woods
(not to ski, though ... i gave up on that a long time ago)
Mt Norquay! Where I learnt to ski
heck i was here earlier and there were tumbleweeds blowiing though
Well who wants to stick around chatting with a grid like this scowling alongside?
better than looking at the grid, Vic!
I'm doing some knew knotwork Vi :)
I hates it.
i can help w/clues for a couple of minutes if anyone needs help
the first word i saw was ur6. and it was all downhillfrom there.
Cool, Ata. Is there a theme to this one?
me too, TO
i've got almost 100 left still, welki
if you're near a ur^, downhill is not the place to be
I need to come up with a new project idea int he next week, so I have something to work on during my holiday sale.

sorry to have missed you welk. catch the rest of you later must...find...food we are working 8 days straight and too tired for dinner last night

knotty squirrelly block prints! fabness!
hmm. I think I've gotta second the squirrel idea.
Yikes! Knotty squirrelly block print sounds horrific! lol
sounds brilliant! nice and autumnal and wildlifey
I'm into borders recently, though. I did a rooster block and a chicken/chick block that had borders I was really happy with.
rooster here: http://nydamprints.com/chanticleer.htm l
pheasant then if you like birds now
well, people do knotty trees.... why shouldn't there be knotty squirrels too?
Well, maybe I could do something squirrelly...
shoot, I just missed Owl
hi all!
that's a *wonderful* border
it would be character-forming for you Vi :)
Or maybe an animals that starts with a letter I'm missing from the alphabet. Someday I'd love to get a whole alphabet, but some of the letters are pretty weak.
ohhhhhh, I remember this grid... I escaped from this one earlier... 25 to go still
Hah. I have all the character I need. If I get any more character I'll be an eccentric. =P
Vicuna, Xdog?
Xyphus :)
why are you defaming letters of the alphabet vic? What did they ever do to you?
It may come to that, nrkii! lol
xenosaur
Failed to produce nice animals that start with them, that's what, jmc!
ooops its xyphius, not xyphus
No wonder the only reference I could find was to a demon lord, Ata!
there is a xantis
might even be xiphius LOL. swordfish
praying xantis?
which is in the deer family
Wait, that didn't get me anything either, Ata. Whose side are you on, anyway?
i think
I think you could get away with aXolotl
Well, I used scientific names to fill out my botanical alphabet, but I think its cheating on animals.
i think it is an atheist xantis
Swordfish (Xiphias gladius; from Greek ξίφος: sword, and Latin gladius: sword), also known as Broadbill in some countries, are large, highly migratory, predatory fish characterized by a long, flat bill. ok FINE. I can't spell LOL
what about the x-ray fish? I seem to remember that from my childhood
just about to say that :)
lol! My favorite is from "The Moral Alphabet" by Hilaire Belloc, with a poem on an animal for each letter...
would someone help me with the left hand m before my dinners guest get here?
"No reasonable little child expects A grown-up man to make a rhyme on X."
there's a xeme too
Arrgh! Dinner is served! Must go. Thanks for all the "help!" lol
well we're not grown-up and expect it totally!

Heh...
Shakespeare's influence.
except for the spouse abuse in taming of the shrew not bad influence
that R in the middle row is kicking my butt
that an a little antisemitic
and yet, Taming of the Shrew is one of my favorites
Well, in words, he's a good influence. In life, less so.
there is a german town that sounds like a bootlegger of a molasses based drink
i kinda liked it until i saw richard burton beat up elizabeth taylor
*shudder*
I liked "Kiss Me Kate" a lot though
kiss me kate is good
its too darn hot!
the other words i have on that r i am su4 you have nrkii
"I'm always true to you darling in my fashion..."
the afore said molasses drink pl
oxidation of iron
that's all i got
thanks jmc, the german town helped
now I'm listing... can't take it any more
I'm always true to you baby in my way
glad to help
Man, I can find no word that starts with a 'y' that could satisfy this puzzle. At least, no word I'm familiar with.
okay gotta go lay out the food for dinner bbl after multiple bottles of wine with any luck at all
this grid is pretty yu4y fleeb
Heh...

bye bye gotta go *leaves relutantly*
Take care, jmc.

i kept spelling that with 2 n ! thx jmc
bye jmc
*peeks back in longingly*
*poof*
Ahh.... gads... I got the Y word, but I have to say, I don't spell that word in that way.
me neither fleeb... but that's how I felt when I found it
No doubt!
who is going to explain about enable? ;P
6 to go!!
how do i tactfully ask my sister if she has seen some of the sequels she has put on her amazon wishlist? cause i have and they are terrible...
1 to go!!
you say "how up to date are you on your amazon wishlst?"
go atalante!!!
Ask her if she even likes sequels, and let the conversation go from there.
it's not a matter of up to date, it's a matter of do you know what the heck you are asking for
well yes, but it's a start to discuss the list
fireworks!
true
hurshy, example?
yayay, nrkii
firebirds!
legally blonde 2
yayay, ata!
yay atalante!
ah, I see what you mean
personally, I'd either 1) get her the sequel she asked for and don't worry about it or 2) get her something else... I wouldn't talk to her about it... can only go wrong, not really likely to go well
ch clue?
ch is like what bells do, but use sometimes vowel
stomach gloop
thanks :)
Aw... I found a long word starting with Z that isn't in the dictionary. Poo. It's za7/14, for the interested.
ewwwww, stomach gloop... I like thinking of bells instead
well naturally i picked something else. it's just, i'd like to hear that she liked the original and assumed she would like the sequel, so i don't have to be ashamed of her.
see hurshy, LOL, that's exactly why you SHOULDN'T talk to her about it
it's the liquid that leaves the stomach adn heads to the intestines :)
you're just dying to have the "is your taste really that bad" conversation!!!
ata, it is dinner time in much of the US...
it's bell music atalante :)
Mmm... dinner... ugh... I can't stomach the conversation.
nothing wrong with digestion, especially at digestion time
i already knew her taste was bad... but legally blonde 2 and princess diaries 2 are new lows...
*blink*
if they make her happy .....
well, you could assume they're just guilty pleasure movies... believe me I have some really bad bad bad movies among my guilty pleasure movies
like what nrkii? i bet they aren't half as bad.
Sgt. Kabukiman, PD.
thinking...
reeese witherspoon couldn't act her way out of a bag
Any Godzilla movie.
I'm a sucker for Hallmark and Family Channel Christmas stuff
*groan*
I have Bakshi's The Hobbit. that beats ANYTHING hands down lol
though I started watching one tonight, and 15 minutes into it I had figured out the rest of the movie and decided I'd rather do something else
personally, i think legally blonde is a great flick. but the sequel didn't even make SENSE.
Love, Actually :-) Just jumping in to the conversation
Love, Actually :-) Just jumping in to the conversation
what is that.. the cartoon ata?
the really really bad cartoon
that was awful..really awful
I love Love Actually!
Ralph Bakshi's (sic) animation, the Hobbit.. I haven't seen it, but I heard it wasn't so great.
exactly .....
love actually was cute
I'm pretty much a sucker for anything with Colin Firth
well... YEAH
so you see, it's not like i'm drawing the bar ridiculously high
Willow?
ugh...
Angel eyes... the worst
i think i have seen parts of willow - it didn't seem completely out of bounds
c'mon ruru, we're trying to come up with bad ones here!
okay, Angel Eyes was pretty bad
but how about The Wedding Planner
and i am happy to admit there are movies i don't like but which have a respectability to them
Angel Eyes was marginal.... but I kind of liked it
Willow was cute
The Wedding planner is terrible
ugh, j lo
Blood Sucking Nazi Zombies wasn't exactly wonderful... but it's kind of obscure.
and speaking of people who can't act.... JLo
I watched Komodo vs Cobra yesterday. *dies*
The Wedding Planner is terrible, I agree, and yet, I can't help enjoying it
she also has "the lake house" - haven't seen it, but it has keanu reeves, so i have to assume it sucks.
what's the new one about the gay fashionista?
Bruno?
there are good movies, and then there are movies i enjoy, and sometimes they're the same thing, sometimes not
I LOVE The Lake House
Worst movie I ever saw- Ishtar- got up and left teh theatre
but it is hardly a classic in the making
Spice World was simply appalling
worst movie I ever saw was the Madonna Sean Penn thing... forgot the name of it
i think i would really like the matrix movies if they had cast anybody but keanu as the lead...
he says every line in every movie he's in the EXACT SAME WAY
A Walk in the Clouds -- horrible movie -- again, I still kind of like it
So, the Matrix would have been fine with Lily Tomlin in that role?
hurshy, I loved him in Speed though, because in that movie, his character and the way he acts sort of fit together
*trying to picture it and failing, but imagines it would still have been better than with keanu*
*laughing*
Shanghai Surprise, perhaps? (Madonna/Sean Penn)
bet it would have made more money, since the kissing scene would then have been 2 women :}
that's like how i feel about mel gibson, nrkii - i find him most believable in conspiracy theory.
Tomb Raider was bad. Tomb Raider 2 was horrid
Big Trouble in Little China needs to go on the guilty pleasures list...
he's fine in "what women want" but nothing suits him so well as conspiracy theory. i can't buy him in stuff like the patriot AT ALL
I liked him in Signs
mm, haven't seen that one
oooh, worth watching, esp if you liked Sixth Sense
on the other hand, The Village was awful awful awful
truly terrible: jurassic park 2, being human (a robin williams mistake).
sorry to interrupt can u help SU5/14 the first one please
the leprechaun movies
Twilight, though, is the worst film ever
Help! I've been looking for my last word for about an hour and I give up. Please tell me it's not obvious! un6/24
french for sugar, 67
su 5 14, like the lozenges, but drop the TS from the end
ty hurshy
you're not certain what the word is, eh, jilli?
lol, use hurshy's clue jill
for once those 4 years of French paid off! LOL
and don't feel bad, I couldn't find it for the longest time either

damp fireworks
wtg jilli
Atalante, I thought Twilight was okay... it was very pretty to watch... not one I'd watch a second time though
yay jilli!
ty nrkii
twilight looked ok to me except for the acting. just based on the adverts.
now I can help clue (not a movie watcher)
yeah, I think if you watch it on mute, it's probably okay
okay, time for me to head out...
help with the le7 pls?
is the Y word a fish?
meh, it was appallingly bad. none of them can act, and the story is laughable
lovely chatting with you all.. happy babbling!
night!
i think we have to make a distinction between movies that we describe as guilty pleasures and movies that, if you find them guilty pleasures, there is something seriously wrong. like venial and mortal guilty pleasures.
not at all, mag
yu4 is descriptive of this grid
The Y word is an expression of disgust.
and of enable's spelling ability
Think alternate spelling
Thanks jilli & smoove
I just finished the Twilight book last night. it was mediocre chick-lit with maybe 10 actually interesting pages. I cannot imagine the movie is anything but manure.
Can someone help with the le7?
I would never have spelled it that way
le7 suits in polyester were awful
hi smoove :)
it's worse, jes
Thanks...that word's a hard find.
my dad still has a le7 suit in the back of his closet
yw -- it's twisty, all right
mag, he could wear it on Halloween some time
worse than manure? this is possible?
PB for those who used the su4 word!
Evening all.
yes. anal gland effluent
manure sprayed by a skunk perhaps
hi jac
jilli- my mom dressed my kids up and put my son in it one time. It was hysterical
diarrhea + anal glands?
oh dear -- but maybe there's some vodka in the PB -- almost that time.
Rotting flesh is worse than manure.
alrighty. guess i need to go work.
Er, why are we having this discussion?
it's about the merits of the Twilight book and movie
I think jes is about right with her last attempt
Oh, I see. Thanks Jilli. My 14-yr-old step loves the books. I haven't read them yet.
She went to see a vampire film at the flix yesterday but it wasn't Twilight. Can't remember what it was.
New Moon probably
New Moon or something, maybe
That's it, Ata. Thanks.
(and Jilli).
Twilight part deux
Big hit just now
Ah.
Interesting grid today, wasn't it? Oddly, my last word found was a perfectly normal word, nu7/36.
Lots of cluers here -- I have things to do -- back soon
'Bye Jilli.
I should go try and sleep. note the "try"
Interesting grid? I hated it. Embarrassing fish for my last word, clue supplied by hurshy -- un6/24
Good luck, ata.
tyty! :)
LOL, jilli. Oh dear! I was in the final run before I found that word, too.
Good luck, Ata. It willl be the same for me; Beloved has A Man Cold.
So, if Ata's off to zzzzzzzz and Jilli's off to do other things, who does that leave clueing??
I'm still here, but probably don't have much to offer :-)
I'll pop in and out to help magmom. Need to nip off to FB to play Babbler Hydra at our daily word games first. BBS.
have fun!
clue st5/10 have womans name please

it really ought take untin and uncan - how else does one serve jellied cranberries
yw
agreed seain
Hi dcs. There are lots of 'un' and 'de' words it should allow but does not and many very odd ones that it does.
well, yes. Les joies d'ENABLE
i know here on east coast, we use french sarcastically sometimes. does that translate to British usage?
oooh, found ru4. brb
Yes, it does, dcs. BBS - got a couple of rounds of Scramble to play.
clue st6/18 please
st**** and stones may break my bones. But definitely not english spelling....
st6/18 is like 'of the stars' but without the double consonant. It is an upright stone.
I found it thank you.
Hi BJ! Long time, no see.
btw - BJ's clue was for st6.24.
How are you, BJ?
good.
Turned into a squaw, looking at your pic.
puzzle is frazzling. monkey's are tired.....
Don't you do your list any more, BJ?
That's a viking..... We have wenches, not squaw's.......
it's there......
just shook up some cherry bourbon, creme de cacao and amaretto. Anyone else want some?
LOL. Sorry BJ!
Sounds interesting, dcs. Bit sweet for me, I think.
Braves don't wear braids either I don't think....
ty for that clue, BJ
I didn't call you a brave, BJ. I said 'turned into a squaw'. LOL
Oddly enough, Brummie and Black Country men here in UK have 'wenches', too. (When they can get away with calling us that!)
hi all
hi, wht
good lads....
I have been corrupting my children.
very well don, wht! only way to raise humans
This afternoon my son and daughter and I were each on our computers calling babble clues to each other.
It's a good thing they are both adults. This is not a very child friendly grid today.
Hi wht. That's true.
well, from age 4 i could repeat "g-d da6 son of a bi5 ba6, co4 su6 ho4 ma6" and at age 9 i understood what it all meant, thanks to running across the word gigolo in a book i was reading. So child-friendly is relative ;)
Thing is, I'd just arrived at the grid in the late UK morning to see someone in the chog saying, 'There are words here I don't even like saying!' I immediately looked for cu, ti and an words. Found all that I was looking for. LOL.
nu7?
Also, when people get 'po-faced' about certain words being in a totally random grid, it does mean that they must KNOW the words to have found them.
Hello all. 51 to go. fe6--related to fe5?
a number, Shirlockc.
Hi Scranns.
hi, scrabbs
No. Srabbs.
SCRABBS! I'll get my fingers unknotted in a moment.
clue CU6/24 please
Scrabbs - if fe6/33 had an 's' as its 5th letter, it'd add to the 'rudish' words in the grid. It does mean the same thing, but more in a magical sense.
misspelling if Indian spice mix, sixty
sixty - there are 2 cu6.24.
hello all any clues for the un 6/24
oh yeah sorry ty dc have spice need other one
not certain cjm
Not a mispelling for the 2nd cu6, dcs, but a variation.
pulling hair out here
ah, not a variation seen here, then :)
sixty - for the first cu6 - imagine cu* (mangey dog) went off at a fast pace.
always with a y in the singular here
un6.24 - not certain.
ohhhh ty
ty jacula and dcs
*Hands cjmomma a hand-knitted hat to cover her bald spots.*

there is the beautiful baby.
ty for that one, wht
Hi All - the last 3 cu 5/14s all start with the same first 3 letters - a slice.
If you let someone ahead of they *** ** the line

odd way to spell it but thx, lbd
odd spelling indeed. ty, dawg
;-)
i hear tell of an fe5 that is unrelated, yes?
found it :)
cool. taking some friends to BWI tonight, arriving at the airport at 3AM local.
oi! that's some early morning travel!
yes, happily BWI is only about an hour away
wow that is early
we lie near IAD, but one saves usually 200 or so by going to BWI instead, even with the gas to get there
I liked landing in BWI. nice "little" airport
both are 24h int'l airports
isn't that weird how that goes. I'd drive the extra hour to save 200 bucks!
BWI is also nice for departures and xfers, as all gates are behind security in one terminal
Any clues for the first cr5,14?
c + not urban (that's the cr6) drop the last letter for the 5
thanks, dawg :)
oh Mid-Atlantic Peeps, meet-up in DC the Saturday after Thanksgiving at 2PM. See my profile for info
ty, that gave me 3. 20 left
go wht!
did i break the chog?
lost in the grid
not at all, just distracted by the grid :)
okay, just checking. my isp is acting kinda wonky
chog has been generally less active of late, it seems
hello babblers
hi, enomis
yay for Marvin!
hi enom!
hello all!
hi TO
hi, TO :)
tough grid no?
it's a stinker!
todays is a bit more challenging than some, but a long way from worst we've had
don't seem to see words that make sense to me...
grid sucked
you're done TO?
no need 28.
well - I need 123 LOL :)

It stinks ..
evening all
ru6, not a marathon
hi, pini and hurshy
hey pini
hmmm there seems to be a consensus...
hey hurshy
it is obscene
(dc, haven't forgotten about you; going to draw a diagram and send it to you as a PDF attachment...that ok?)
yes there has been a consensus among everyone i've seen today
that's peachy, pini :)
how thew heck is michael jackson winning an american music award?
ty hurshy
Because he died ..
i mean he did not have a new record?
finally under 100!!! 99 :)
and that takes talent!
he was in studio when he died, TO
my fergie looked fergalcious as a brunette. i would kill for legs like that
and she can sing!
I thought he was in mid-tour, dc?
Hi Pini! did you get some rest?
well, if nobody wants any clues...
may have been, pini, i didn't follow too closely.
R's done. Only 7 s's to go.
Too many left hurshy ..
I got some, lbd...made it to Portland and back ok (although I could have used a nap before driving home)...
Stid was in Portland today
tor are you a blues fan?
I am TO
I know...but she was meeting her grandfather for lunch and I didn't want to interfer with "family" time...
hi torg
...besides, I would have had to wait around for about 5-6 hours to meet her!
Heya lbd ..
ever hear of shake anderson? i am trying to review him as i babble
...and the airport parking lot was $3/hour
can't say that i have, TO
only 3/hour! wow. bargain
We're going to try and set up another get together when Mel can make the drive with me ;)
nice, pini
clue for az?
That's a bargain, dc? Here at the little muni-airport, it's only $1.25/hr
I've heard the name but don't know anything about him ..
az5 = bluish color
at IAD 5/hr, BWI about the same
ty pini
www.shakeanderson.com
Yikes...guess I should be glad it's only $3/here! :)
PDX surprised us by how empty it was at 1900 when our flight arrived.
yw eno :)
it was pretty empty at 0530 too!!!!
:)
but, you're right, 1900 is another thing...
oh, very nice, TO :)
Hello all!
hi, shoes
hi red
hi REDSHOES!!
I'm back, but it looks like you've all finished the grid now.
hey redshoes
Hah! As i, jacula :)
Jac! Did you get my message the other night? That I wasn't offended, just off painting. =D
finished? gads...far from it here...it's been a day...
as if
YOU'RE SO FUNNY Jacula, this grid will never end :)
dcs, you finished dcs?
Enomis - it will, I promise. I did it earlier.
i've 37 to go
I've only got 37!
go DC!!!
how many weeks did it take you?
Ah, dcs.
It took me about 2 hours on and off Enomis.
(((((((bowing to Jacula's talent... ))))))))))
that seems about right, jac
So, if you want clues, ask now - but not all at once - before I attempt to sleep next to Beloved Who Has A Man Cold.
Gasp!!!! Not a Man Cold!!!!
Mind you, the blocked nose seemed to curb his normally exuberant snoring last night; he could only emit short pig snorts.
back. spilled awhole cup of cocoa :(
oooh. cocoa sounds good.
so cute...
Hi TO. Not on your lap or your laptop, I hope?
cocoa does sound good, but not on my lap!
ru6, plsL
SHOES!!
corrosion + 2/3 frozen water, dc
*offers TO some creme de cacao, cherry bourbon and amaretto blended*
ru6.27 is more odd, starts with ru* (what pirates drink).
hi red. seain did you clock th elink? sorry i was distracted. trying to clean up mess without using hotel towels
ru6/21 = something that trickles down in a small way.
other ru6 is not walk + *** there be peace on earth
ooh yummy, does that drink have a name?
ru6/24 is pretty rural and certainly not urban.
use the hotel towels TO!
su6,27 please.
Tom calls it a holiday bonbon, don't know if it has formal name
Hotel towels are sent off to be boiled to death at a laundry. Use the towels!
season just past, whit
wht - a season - not winter.
jac - I think you are due a trip to the PB.
lol,jackula..i worked for a 144 room hotel once..dont use the towells
what - Oops! What did I say?
there is CHERRY BOURBON?! is it true bourbon?
ty jac. A fish for fireworks.
CROSSY! we were talking in the lab about a wine someone bought that tasted like bacon!
whoooo hooooo WHT!!!
Look at 8:23
I want one of these beverages, too. me! me! me!
crossy - Hi. Don't use the towels to clean up spills or just 'don't use the towels!' which is it?
my bad, it's cherry whiskey from PhillipsUnion, not a bourbon
you must promise to make me one next we meet
*starts pouring, strained into cocktail glasses* Help yourselves!
(Have to admit, I usually take my own towels and own pillow wherever I travel.)
ru6time, and the living's easy....
well i have decided shake anderson is primarily r & b not blues
i agree from what i've heard, TO
Silly man, dcs. Su time/ :P
anyone else watching american mu5 awards? carrieunderwood looks as if she is wearing a gold diaper
TO - I tend to avoid watching any kind of awards show.
*fixes Jacula a Mint Julep, which though not of ru*, is a drink of SU6 time*
If I'm still awake, I'll try to catch the fashion statement when it airs later here...
we have no TV.
And who on earth is Shake Anderson, and what kind of first name is 'Shake'? LOL
is it short for "Shakespear"? :)
Cousin to Malt Anderson?
oh my is that lady gaga?
*groan* shoes
what can I say, lbd? That's how I do. Horrible, I know.
mmmmm. french fries with malt vinegar and old bay :D
well i love mu5 and the performances and costumes are fun
dcs - don't fix me a julep, 'cos that takes me back to my youth and makes be think of Bobby Goldsboro's reccord, 'Summer, The First Time' and the song/film 'Mrs. Robinson'. You do know my Beloved is my 'toyboy'? LOL
ROFL noted, jacula :)
Ahm Pini - Shakespear.Shakespeare - the Bard never did quite decide how to spell his surname. I think he was dyslexic.
dcs - glad you saw that.
He was left-handed and was born on the same day of the same month that he died.
well, shoot...so much for my spelling today...maybe that's why he just goes by Shake! :)
hello, i'm back from a mini weekend trip!
Shake could be a nickname, like Bleeding Gums
hey have any of you seen the new tshirts with leds built in? some of the designs are pretty cool
Most 'artistic' or 'imaginative' people are south paws, and many criminals, apparently. I'm left-handed, btw.
i have TO, and shirts that detect wifi and show signal strength on them too
someone's nickname is bleeding gums?
Hi harp. Did you have a good time?
hi Harp! didja get a lot of snow?
Bleeding Gums Murphy
he died a few years back, in life and on The Simpsons
Shirts with any kind of electronics in them CANNOT be good for your health.
It could be worse, Jac, they could be microwave hats.
oh pish, jacs. low voltage
Yes, The Simpsons cast and crew list has always been worth reading.
do you wear the microwave hat over or under the tinfoil?
TO - no voltage! Don't pish at me. LOL
hell the rest of us would DEFINITELY need heavy duty foil hats
the cat pulls my glasses off when in my lap and i'm net petting her. Or she tries to chew on my phone if i'm OTP
foil hats amplify, don't deflect
both, wht. and I hear it helps to put foil INSIDE the hat, as well. mmm hmmmm
the rays bounce off. it's a scientific fact
Does anyone her watch 'Fringe'?
I've seen it a few times Jac.
and the foil hats are a lovely addition to any babbler's wardrobe!
There's just a skiff in Hamilton, lbd, but we went over Skalkaho Road toward Phillipsburg, then down Rock Creek Road to Highway 90, so I've seen enough snow for now! Our mountain bikes were on the back of our car and they are QUITE wintry looking!
I need 2 more for NBT...I think I can stay awake long enough to get them (with help, of course)...
I like Fringe
the upper Y and U
So, red, you know that 'there are more things in heaven and on earth than...'?
sounds like a nice little trip, harp :)
mr yu4 is mean, mr yu4 is green!
(and cold)
un5, take the string off the package.
Me, too, Harp.
I like Walter best.
thx, dc...didn't know it was spelled that way!
no, Jac, I guess I haven't watched enough.
thx peeps...
it's not :)
yu4, what you might say if you bit into an apple and found half a worm.
un6,24 not certain
...and with that I think I'm going to call it a night and try and catch up on some sleep...
thx wht
thx lbd
nytol!
sweet dreams, Pini.
* poof *
OOps! Walter from 'Fringe' has cleared the room, as he usually does. LOL
sweet dreams, pini
night, pini.
us5,24 a loan-shark
make that us6,24
za6/33 - madder/more crazy than Walter from 'Fringe'.
is walter the guy from lost?
Walter is Pacy's dad on Fringe
TO - don't know if it's the same actor since I've never watched 'Lost' Would have to ask my Mum about that.
(sorry, Pacy meaning Joshua Jackson. Pacy was his name on Dawson's Creek)
does ic4 mean wir in uneducated Deutsch?
blackscary looking dud
John Noble plays Walter in 'Fringe'.
ur7.32 clue pls? i havegrown weary
Joshua Jackson is the black guy (Olivia's boss) with the impossibly high cheek bones and permanently bloodshot eyes.
and i am actually trying to listen to the whole horrible submission of this band :(
which band, TO?
ur7.32 = ur + vowel + not day.
no can say. local anyway
ty jacsw
gotcha
u + egyptian sun god + not day
is the grid fyn today?
no, harp :)
fun?
nope. Joshua Jackson is Walter's son. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005045/
only if you're into masochism, harp

ur7 & 8 are the singular and plural of a vital ingredient for a nuclear bomb.

night all and thanks for the fish.
night night, WHT
are the n words obvious to everyone but me?
red - it it? I'd picked Joshua Jackson for him.
pretty standard n words, TO
TO - na4.9 - follower of Hitler.
na5/20 - plural.
nit4 - not day, misspelling.
ni4 - head lice.
nu7 - a number.
nu5 - either mad or brazil, hazel, pecan etc.
Trust me, I know my Dawson's Creek. And Joshua Jackson was definitely Pacey Witter on Dawson's Creek.
nu5 - kind of insane.
well all-righty...was not ready for clues but pls someone give me ze so i can all it a night
That's the n's done!
nm, good night everyone!
night TO. sweet sleeps
Oh, sorry, TO. Didn't mean to make you finish earlier than you meant to.
night TO!
ze4 is a chemistry word, but if you change the letters around a bit it might make what a Fan Mag is often called now.
ze + 'not out'. How's that for spelling out a clue?
i'm heading out too. night everyone
I clued in vain, it seems.
I'll head out too, before the ones who demand clues and make you jump through hoops to give them to them get here.
Memory, a bit of common sense, the ability to workthings out and some kind of education is all that is required.xx
hello all
bye LBD
I am not playing, just poking my nose into the chog.
ok, I'm heading to bed, as well.
