oh, good, see you there
she's not looking any more -- will play with Gisela the next week when I have to be in Vic and miss the Xmas do :(
THAT should be interesting!
ah, sorry you'll miss the Christmas do, but yes, will be an interesting match
mismatch, I think!
well if a match is made in heaven, where is a mismatch made? hahaha
I look forward to reports, lol!
I do hope we play them
I hope so too!
Gesila has such a great sense of humour, perhaps she'll even make I laugh at herself?
Maybe.
she and I got into a bit of a giggle one night - unfortunately at her p's expense
I gave I a brief summary of responses to transfers the other day (she hasn't a clue) and begged her to read it. Talked to her on the phone and she said she had done so, but in trying to discuss it she didn't even know what it was about and thought it was about the 2NT 12-15 point count response
Frustrating.
yes, I find it strange, she is a smart woman but sometimes she can give you such a vacant stare
Doesn't want to hear about anything new.
New to her.
lol, was just going to say new since when
you'll find a bit of that in the AH games

hehehe funny pet, jilli. Never had one either. But I bet my kids would love one.
hi sprite!
firewords :)
hi jilli :)
and wtg dear friend.
That IS a cute kitty, sprite :)
isn't it :) We used to have cats. Love to have Terra, but sometimes I miss the feline silliness and arrogance.
well, you could get a cat too. Terra might like a pet :)
lol who knows!
today I will get the test results from the neurologist, jilli. Keep your fingers crossed for me, please? I'd love it to be something known and treatable!
Oh, fingers and toes crossed, sprite!
thanks jilli. I have a bad feeling about it... not the feeling it is something dreadful, but the feeling they couldn't reallly find the cause. So I am glad with your fingers and toes!
Please post the results in your bio so that I don't have to stay up tomorrow night to find out!
oh good idea, I will. Will be late tonight though, because afterwards I go to my sister's.
but late tonight for me will still be very early for you, I think. We are apart some 6 hours, right? It is 9 o'clock here right now, in the morning.
Just after midnight here
ok, 9 hours even then. When I get home tonight, it will still be afternoon at yours. All will be well :D
Great -- then I'll know before going to bridge, and I'm counting on good news.
lovely. It is wonderful, how strongly one can feel the support from babble friends. It really helps.
Interesting that you were thinking we were 6 hours apart -- maybe for grid time, which is Central. We have 4 time zones here -- Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific. I'm in the Pacific zone.
Actually, we have another one -- Newfoundland, which is a half hour diffrence from Eastern!
I am always finding it hard to get everybody's time straight. It is not my strong suit, lol.
omg 5 time zones in one country. Craziness!
and half an hour difference is extra tough. Most zones are in full hours.
And I must go to bed -- trying to get rid of this cough.
sleep well, jilli, and get better. *hugs*
I wonder if Russia has more time zones.
jilli: 11
. . . going to Google . . .
lol I beat you to it
oh, thanks! Thought it would be more, but that's a lot!
incredible! I would never be able to keep track.
more than Canada, I mean.
don't have to, thank goodness!
am truly thankful for that.
So off I go -- happly babbling!
*poof*
fireflies. Bye all.
Mari you there?
Is anyone here ... listening to Twilight Zone music ... Good morning
I'm here now, hi Merk
I see there are folks online, but they must be lurking or off somewhere.
I come & go a lot too
im here but feeding baby with one hand
I just found the co 8. That one definitely is new to me.
Makes typing difficult doesn't it, Brookie?
yes
mega should be a word
Both hands free now...
Were my husband home, he would know that I had gone over the edge. I got up to go to the bathroom and stayed up to babble.
That's not going over the edge. That's dedication.
At least that's how I justify it to myself. :-)
I started it to help my brain cells and ended up addicted. But I tell him that there are a lot worse things to be addicted to.
anyone have the no6 please?
And at least there are only a finite number of Babble solutions per day/grid, so at some point you have to stop each day.
I don't, sorry! But will look for it.
take the first three letters of what you breath with
just found it - thanks!
I thinking of how to clue the second syllable ... it is the second sound of the sound a clock makes

morning Merk
Merk, I am having trouble finding the CO 8! any clues to help please?
not a bad grid once you get into it.
hi Button
Hi Lynxxx
It was totally new to me. It builds on the co 4,5 and is a compound word ... second syllable a common girl's name.
clue for the co 8 please
co9 compound, ends in girls name
got it, thanks
Don't read on if you don't want a clue, but I finally found a new word that is easy to clue. ra 6,21 rhymes with the strongest man in the Bible.
TY
thanks merk, that is a new one for me and so was the co8
me, too
hi everyone, from dark and chilly Vermont.
hi Eva
Good morning ... it's the same here in SD.
I'm being stymied by the o's-have none except for the og4.
And yes, I am up too early to be babbling.
Have you guys already had a lot of snow merk?
have or4/8
og4.7 & 5.16 pair
oo4.4
it's the bottom right corner o I don't have
Not a lot, just enough to make the streets slippery. It flurried most of the weekend.
ah!
how could I not have seen the kinky party?!
if you have the co 5, take the c off.
that's the pair I havent found lynxx
got them. Thanks!
yw
How much snow have you had in Vermont?
yesterday we had about 2 inches. We had the same about a month ago but of course it went away. Very odd. There was a record set yesterday for the latest snow to fall in Burlington.
My family got 15" back in Michigan yesterday ... yikes! That will likely stay to make a white Christmas
yikes indeed!
That is unusual ... no snow ever registered before December 6 ever ....
Usually by Thanksgiving there is some significant coverage on the ground. If this keeps up there will be damage to plants, but has also been oddly warm a lot of the time too.
4 left and time to resort to the list
anyone have the ma 5...it is stumping me
Homers wife?
woman's name-think simpsons
thanks
... and fireworks!
Congrats Merk!
ty, now the question is ... do I bother going back to bed? It's almost 5:30 here.
done!
Congrats Eva!
can you fall back to sleep this late? I wonder that the incidence of insomnia is among babblers. Seems to be high
wtg, Eva
It certainly is for me.
For one thing there is a preponderance of women of a "certain" age -where insomnia is often an issue.
And more and more I know how critical getting enough sleep is to everything else. I finally gave in a couple of years ago to taking a small amount of medication and it has made a huge difference. I wish I could sleep well without it, but had tried everything else-all the herbal cures, etc and none of them helped.
I fall right to sleep at night, but if the furnace turns on toward morning, it seems to wake me up. Or else I have to use the bathroom, and if I look at the clock, I am doomed.
same here. Or, if as happened last night, on the way back from the bathroom I step on a deal mole someone had thoughtfully left on the rug next to the bed and it pops and you have to scrape molage off the bottom of your foot.
that was "dead" mole
gross ... I take it you have a gift-giving feline
and would that someone be Merp?
very generous 3 moles in the past couple of weeks. Don't know what they are doing inside of the house. Must have been a nest and I hope this is the end of them. If it was my human partner I'd be in big trouble lynxxx
Hello Babble buddies.
hi Scrabs
Hey, Scrabbler, where you been?
of course for a cat, gifting someone with a mole is giving something that you don't like, so the generosity is dubious. A bit more like "Here-I don't know what to do with this as I find it inedible so would you please make it go away?" Hi scrabbler
I've been checking e-mail, facebook, the news, etc. Now I can Babble.
Here, it would be mice. I haven't had a mole in my yard in 30 plus years, when they made a tunnel and ate all but one of my tulip bulbs.
I saw you were here when I was alone in the Chat box for what seemed like ages. There must have been a lot of people lunching or drinking coffee.
Funny-I've never had garden problems with the moles. Lots of trouble with deer, chipmunk, slugs, earwigs, but not moles.
I never log out of here so it always shows that I am on-line.
What are earwigs?
the sky is finally getting lighter-at 6:30. I have to keep telling myself that we are only a couple of weeks away from the solstice.
My daughter had three cats for a brief time in her life. She and her hubby woke up to such a racket one night and it was the cats chasing each other to see who would capture the mouse. They ended up gifting it while it was still alive.
Insects
I never log out either, does that mean I look like I am here even if laptop off?
I think so, Lynxxx
earwigs are some of the more disgusting insects on the planet. They slither and have big pincers.
*going to research earwigs*
they eat rotting vegetation and last summer was so incredibly wet here that we had a plague of them. They love lettuce especially and hide in the inner leaves to come out and cause shrieking when one is washing the lettuce off.
and once you have earwigs, you have them for life! luckily usually outside
Eeeeew, those posterior pincers are creepy!
Yup, you are here. I do the same thing.
last summer they moved in. One fell out of my checkbook. I mean it rained for about 2 months straight so the garden was something of a bust anyway, except for the early crops.
Oh, yuck, I'm suddenly glad it's winter and I'm not harvesting lettuce.
yes, that is something to be thankful for
The only thing comparable that I heard is from my Dad. Before I was born, he owned a produce store. Tarantulas would come in hidden in the huge bunches of bananas. Ponder that for awhile.
Think of all the ships that come in with produce and reefers from Mexico. There must be all manner of insects arriving with it. How do the corral them all? I suppose the big warehouses all get treated regularly.
They would all be sprayed wouldn't they? Where is DC when you want him - he would know
much worse. That is still a problem apparently. When I volunteered in a zoo for a while one of my jobs was misting the tarantula cage, for which one had to open the front pane of glass. After a couple of traumatic incidents I refused. I love reptiles, so the snakes, lizards, etc were fine, and I could make myself deal with th African hissing cockroaches ( I mean really-why would anyone keep one of those as pets?!), but not spiders. I draw the line at spiders.
A science teacher in the jr. high where I student taught had a tarantula for a pet. On the days he brought it to school, he would let it climb his or anyone's arm. I politely declined.
eeeewwww
*getting the heebie-jeebies now*
Not getting past this last 12 so I might head to bed..bye Scrabs Eva & Merk, have a good Monday
night lynxx
Thanks, Lynxx, and you a good night's sleep.
Well, I'd better be off to make some breakfast. See you tomorrow.
seems like the worst of the swine flu has passed here, unless there is going to be another round later. My friends with children all seem to be back from plague land, and the kids were finally vaccinated in school last week. Vaccine delivery in Vermont was seriously screwed up! And there has been no seasonal flu vaccine for months. I had to get some from out of state.
bye merk
Have you seen a diminishing of cases in your practice scrabbler?
okay, everyone's wandering off so think I will too.
H1N1 activity was highest here from 2nd week in October through 2nd wk of Nov---5 local kids died. Yes, the production + distribution of seasonal + H1N1 vaccines have been a public health failure.
good morning everyone;)
Hi Crossy! And GM to your lovely wife, Elegant.
That's so sad about the 5 kids. Did you treat any of them? How much was there really a screw up in production and distribution and how much was this just too overwhelming a task? Here they did the seasonal flue vaccine in early October and since I had a virus then I couldn't get it and by the time I was well enough there was none. Seems strange that they still have it in NH, Mass and NY but not in Vt
same here,by the time the shots became available to the general public,it was too late
morning cross
lol my better half is smart, she is still sleeping
...............FIREWORKS,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,
H1N1 production and distribution came too late--should have been available + given in August + September before schools/colleges began.
congrats button!
Yahoo Buttonman!
Seasonal flu illness usually begins in January so there is still time to protect people.
I was thinking of shunning everyone below the age of 50 for a while there.
hello and goodbye - got my fireworks and now got to find something to do with the rest of my day!
Thanks and bye
those at highest risk managed to get shots in before the second round of outbreak but it was a close thing
anyone need a clue before i go?
Yay Pinny! This is a tough grid.
i did monkey a couple of words
like the co8
Im not eligible for the N1H1 because of my age so I hope that it has shown us its worst.
it is all over but the crying now eva
do you really think so crossy? Or will there be another round?
Well said, Crossy, esp for survivors of deceased victims
ask scrabbs, but i think thats it
There is concern of further waves that will infect those not hit previously.
they are still forcasting another, worse, round here after Christmas I think
My friends have been lucky in that no one had to be hospitalized.
hi Ata
ooh,so maybe grab the shots if you can ever get ahold of 1
and hi :)
I've still got to have my shot
a couple of my friends, who have kids with asthma, took them out of school for a couple of months until they had been vaccinated.
but there is the incubation period till the shots start to work,so id not delay
And take your vitamin D (www.vitamindcouncil.org)
they decided they couldn't give it to me last weekend *sigh*
what dosage do you think scrabbler? I've increased to 2500 iu a day. Do you think that's enough?
I am taking 5000 IU/day for the winter.
im a good boy srabbs, taking my vitamins, taking my glucosamine and my probiotics
I believe that Dr Cannell, on that web site, suggests 5000 IU/d to boost immune system and avoid flu.
thanks for letting me know. Are there any possible side effects from taking too much that one should know about?
Good Crossy.
or 14,000 IU/d if you have MS and want to try it
There is belief that MS, cancer rates are higher in those with vit D deficiency
since I began having gall bladder problems and then had it removed I've had a really hard time with taking fish oil supplements, which is a problem because they really help with inflammation - any thoughts about how to handle that?
I have no GB and take enteric coated fish oil capsules
some MS studies suggest up to 20,000IU/d, but more say 14,000. Sounds horrid
crossy shudders and remembers the tablesppons of cod liver oil as a child..
*starting to dread leaving Babble Land in order to start work week*
How old are you, Crossy?
I never heard of those. I'll give that a try. Thanks so much! Do you have trouble with digesting lipids in general?
45
Yes, "indigestion", but I avoid fatty food whenever possible
You are like my brother, Crossy. He is 44. My mother never gave us cod liver oil.
So do I - dairy especially - but the fish oil has been a real loss so I'm glad to hear that there may be a solution.
omg. sister might actually get into hospital this week! yay!
i can stil see the bottle in my mind hehe
what is she going for Ata?
Or take flax seed tablets, or borage==vegetarian sources of omega-3 FAs
to get a blood transfusion
At 52/50 I must quickly get ready for work. I go to the Indian Reservation on Mondays--a longer drive.
I am wishing her the best of luck, Ata, and for the docs too.
do all the omega 3's have the same anti-inflammatory /anti -plaque effect?
hagd scrabbs
I think if they are omega-3 FAs
best of luck to her Ata!
her Hb is at 5.1g/dl
so we're all crossing fingers, I'll let you know when she actually gets in :)
and best to your sister ata,my m-i-l actually had to go in for blood last week as well,2 pints i believe
be careful Scrabbs. There's black ice out there this morning
OMG! That is bad! She will go into congestive heart failure soon without a transfusion!!
exactly!!
*panicking about black ice now*
her GP, mum and me all yelled all her surgeon at the end of last week. It seemed to help
yes carefull scrabbs, its glassy here as well this morn
be safe, scrabs!
OK, I must go. I cannot access Babble from Indian Clinic PC--blocked.
Bye kids!
no panic allowed. Just caution. Anyway, Im not sure exactly where you are, but the warning was for Vermotn, NH, and points North
bye!
bye!
I am really dragging my feet. I dont want to do what I have to do today. Record a boring presentation, I need to work out what to say and put al lthe timings together. Joy

thanks hurshy!
big news now is that I have a job interview at a tutoring center on tuesday! first interview in MONTHS, so this is good news. Not sure the hours are going to be what I would want, but hopefully there is some wiggle room there. Pay is complete shite, but it is pay, so that's something....
wonderful, trif -- will keep fingers and toes crossed!!
thanks dear one!
Good morning all!
Hi Nonnie
Congrats on the upcoming job interview, Trif!
there is such a strange discrepancy in the pay rate for tutors around here - there is a woman here in norwell who tutors kids in math, maybe at the library, or at their home, and she is easily pulling down $40 tax free. This job pays $13 an hour, AFTER you are certified. Sigh
Good luck Trif!
thanks nonnie!
another clue on th co8 plz
good morning! I might be able to finish this one!
hey, nonnie :-)
hiya hego and une!
morning, red! :-)
Hello red!
edward - its a compound word - first half is how much you pay for something. second half is a woman's name - **** tyler moore, **** queen of scots
thx
got it
Thank you Trif!!!
I am totally on team edward also, by the way....
lol
de rien
hello everyone
Annie Hi!

ohhhhhh just had one of those lovely babble bursts where I found nine or so words in a minute. ahhhhhhhh
yaa for trif!!
go trif go!
And I had one of those babble bursts where I forgot nine words in a minute.
cross, the today show is promoting bacon-chocolaye flavored pancakes!
LOL! well, now I am gridlocked, so there you go....
lol lawyer
I should try to figure out my ratio of words entered/words accepted some day - that should prove highly amusing!
yaa for bacon pancakes!!
bacon pancakes!!!
bacon chocolate tho?
Tri, if they were not accepted, they are not words.
crossy, does crossy jr have a game system? are there particular games he has put on the list this year? I find primo always seems to have at least some that are horrible looking, and I never buy - I think he puts them on the list just to make my head spin around
yes, lawyer, but it doesn't stop me from trying some real nonsense, sometimes!
Like retee...I think a lot of golfers retee.
i know all the games trif..tell me the title and your primos age
lol nonnie
primo is 17, so NO M titles for him! he keeps trying to tell me M is for Mild....lol! I did relent on Halo, since it is just aliens and all, but I hate all those kill kill kill titles. gross. oh, and I just realized, I need to go in the PB again. sigh
those i dont know i can get a full reviw in 30 seconds from the company o work for
I tried retee, nonnie
sorry, primo is 16 - one more year til M titles....
cause my boy is 15 as well triff
16 in feb
they would prob get along great!
And "toer". If something can be toed doesn't there have to be a toer. I try that word everytime.
retoe too....
me too nonnie! and "nots" as in the haves, and the have-nots
yep nots and retoe (which I just caught myself trying!)
I'm all in favor of having a dyslexic version of babble.
Crossy can be in charge!
7 left, tra la la = will take all day!
Yay! trif

congrats trif!!!!!!!!!!!
the 8 is a compound , mkg
how much you pay for something is the first half -- second half is a woman's name
and thanks all!
co8 = compound word, price of something + lady's name
mega not in dict....
ty got it.
wow odd grid - I have all the 7's and the 8 before finishing the 4s
yoos is too a word. HEY YOOS OVA DAR
Except for an odd word here and there it was a friendly grid
hi sue
hi all
yoos guys--I agree!
hello sue!
if Cunt can be a word, mega should be allowed
I still can't believe that one.
it really bothers me
Me too!
it has to be the most filthy word on the planet
Me too!
Very offensive
when I first started babbling I was so taken aback when I saw that word that I typed it into the chatlog...you can imagine the teasing I got
There are just some words never to be said or typed, like the N word
Hmmm, I wonder if they accept the male equivalents.
the C word, in my humble opinion, is on that level
lol annie. I leave it for the last because I can never remember if it is "acceptable" or not.
Annie that's funny.
so I have a problem
phone....have a good day all!
I agree with you Sue.
anyone want a clue before I start a meatloaf?
bye bye trif
Tx Annie I'm good for now.
emmmm meatloaf!
my finace has a son (29) with Bipolar and addiction issues. Now I can hear in his voice that he is tired of me pointing out the red flags (since I grew up in NY in a house with both issues). What do I do, walk away because he is resenting me or shut up and stay and live with his ignorance and how it will affect us in later years?
That's a tough one, Sue.
That is a hard way to live.
Tough one, Sue. What does your fiance have to say about this?
walk away
And only you can decide. You know your own tolerance level.
Your future hapiness is at stake here.
Morning, all. Sue - is is your fiance or his son who is complaining?
my fiance
Good morning, judi!
Hi Judi
Hi Judi
he thinks it is an assault on both his manhood and fatherhood
Wow! I'm starting to agree with Ata.
It sounds like your fiance will not accept the seriousness of his son's addiction and illness. How many children do you want?
hi all
NONE
I only say walk away because it's not going to change unless the son wants to change. You can't tell ppl with bipolar that they need to do x, y, and z. And if he won't change, the situation with your fiance won't change
I am 45 he is 51
He's clearly in over his head with his son living with him. There may be some enabling going on there too. Unless he's willing to get professional help for him - both for the mental illness and the addiction - the situation will only get worse. We went through it with my sister. Fortunately, she was entirely capable of living on her own.
his son just got out of rehab after 57 days and thinks everything is fine and dandy now
my fiance doesnt see this as a lifetime problem
son is on meds, but Dale (fiance) doesnt know the rules of the issues and listens to his son about them
sue, I didnt mean you actually having children. What I meant was if the situation stays the same both of them will act as children and you will bear the burden
better to walk away now than to walk away when things are in turmoil
it is crazy that a bipolar thinks he doesnt need therapy, but signs up to the YMCA
oh
whew annie
Is the son able to work or is he on disability?
dont know Judi
but you may want to try couples therapy with fiance
able or wants are two different things
bipolar people often don't belive they need meds / therapy
hey if someone would support me I am not sure I would work either
Plus I think he has been on drugs a while and would gander that taken off all the meds and reavaluated may prove very helpful and telling
My point exactly. Sounds like the fiance has more sympathy than common sense. Time to throw down the gauntlet. No marriage unless the 29 year old son goes to live on his own.
judi, what does that do except cost more
His son needs to be in a 12 step program
or at least until there is extensive couples theorpy
bipolar is a lifetime illness, treatable but not curable be very careful
son would NOT live with us in anycase
very treatable, but not if he's addicted to other things
It is possible he will be elible for state assistance in terms of evaluation and treatment. There's probably a lot of paperwork hoops to jump through - but it may be well worth it for all involved.
and not if neither is willing to recognize the illness
judi has a point -- its a lot harder to accept the responsibility of you adult life with or without bi-polar if you are being carried by your pa
stand up to fiance first, then as a team stand up to son
exactly JMC
if not, then walk away
thank you all for your thoughts, it really helps a lot
I am calling Shrink now to set up a couples meeting
Once my sister was signed up with the state, an advocate was assigned to her. Adv helped her get housing, a job, meds, etc.etc. It was a God send.
biploar is a strange disease that some people - like my "darling" husband have no concept of actually existing . being life-changing / life-threatening
yw now will someone reclue the 8 -- it disappeared from the chog right as I showed up -- the price + what?
ack I have 2 minutes before I have to leave for work!
jmc, price and woman's name
got it now must dash! ty annie

Although it doesn't cost money, it is encouraged that you "go pro" before requesting it.
hi im new to this
no it is free, but i think they would prefer you to be a pro user (one time fee) after all, they have put alot of work into making all this.

welcome bird!
Hi Pinikula
put me next on the list, Team-E!
yea, I would like to "go pro" but the second I pay money, that will make me want to play more and I need to get job productivity up again before that!
Bye, Edward
Babble Expert is free -- and one of its great features is the Lickety Add box, where if you type one word it goes to bot the word list and Lickety's list automatically, and if you type more than one word it goes to the chat.
that's why I babble only when I'm home
Hello, Jilli
*both
hi jilli
hi zoo and everyone
Hi jilli!
(and, sadly, I'm home again today)
pini: I don't have that much self discipline
It's better when I babble at an office than when I am working at home, because at home there are no limits on me
Hey, Bird...welcome to the game; hollar if you have any questions!
Welcome. This is a friendly group.
sorry to hear that, pini
Hello , Kaplan :-)
Boss said I should save my Minnie Mouse voice for here at home...
Helllo, Birdpics..sorry did not see you come in..welcome to babble.
Hi. I am waiting for a 4:00 client. I
Boss is right -- don't push yourself, pini.
Pini: that is sad.. my boss gives us a guilt trip even if we are deathly ill... yaaay for first job out of college
why wsn't teary a word?
Well, since I don't often get sick (it's actually rather rare) and I work at a Uni...she was adamant that I "take of yourself" before coming back in! :)
try typing it again, Kap
Cassi, does your boss want people to spread their viruses to everyone else by going to work sick?
yea, my company consists of 9 ppl... so they do weird things
PB for you Kap..lol
Oops again. I thought it rejected the word
my boss is a nurse anesthetist and she said "I don't believe in getting sick" and I was like... you're a nurse
I'm the only staff member in my department! (other than workstudy students who are doing a wonderful job holding down the fort while I'm out)
Cassi...even on the news (and CDC) they are announcing not to go to work sick and how it spreads so many illnesses...very surprising for a health care boss to be like that...I worked at one of the most prestigious health facilities in the world NIH and they would never say that. She should get with the program!
it really is rather surprising coming from a nurse
well, I work at a medical staffing company... so she practices outside of the office.
yeah, we were all pretty shocked
yes,i had the h1n1 and just quarrantined bith the wife and i for 11 days to prevent spreading
I'll bet that was a nice "vacation", crossy ;)
the main difference i saw between it and a regular flu is how the fever cycles every 2 days or so it seems to regroup and counter attack
nor reallt pini
darn typos
I understood, crossy! :)
so, what are the "symptoms" of the h1n1 flu v reg flu v cold?
lol pini, many of the babble girls were hard on me and my typos this morning..seems all i was doing was correcting myself;/
like i say lini you get fevers of around 101-103 and then every 2 dyas or so it seems to clear ,then it comes back, lots of chest congestion
Well, you do know that I'm fluent in Typonese...and, besides, when someone corrects a letter or something it only draws my attention back to pick at what I missed.
LOTS of chest congetstion
yummy
I think typos are a good thing...it gives us all a little spark when we find one and we say..."oh there is a typo" and we feel a little smarter if only for a second or so...you can always find the positive in anything if you just look for it!
Well, whatever I have is apparently staging itself. Last Wed = fever, headache; Thur = better; Fri = went to work for a few hours; Sat = did nothing to ensure "it" was going away; Sun = developed low key productive cough; Mon = low key productive cough and sinus stuffiness...
...does that sound more like a cold?
I wish I could post a chart I got via email showing the difference between a cold and the flu -- stuffiness, sneezing and sore throats are NOT common with the flu
can someone clue me on re 6,21 and re7,32
that'd be great, jilli!!!
(can you email me a copy?)
re + sports group
then pl
thanks!
hello everyone ... how are things going?
ok, pini -- just emailed it
thx jilli! :)
hi mo
Hello, Mo :-)
hi Pini and zooz.
need any help?
brb - gotta let Koda back in...
pini, with the h1n1,you get nasty congestion with the cycling fever and full chest rattle,i had to use inhalers for a month
no i finished this morning, Mo
thankfully nothing nasty, crossy, all seems to be more cold-like
it was a fairly easy one today zooz ... dont you think?
and dont bother with antibiotocs with it,it does not help, makes things worse actually
I'm baffled by my ailment -- sounds like flu but no fever! Occasional chills, yes.
i did neo-citrin,vicks vapo-rub,lots of chicken soup and tylenol for the fevers
sounds like a plan, crossy! * note: avoid *
Yes , there were a couple of weird words , but on the whole not bad at all.
and ventolin for the breathing
jilli...going to look at the email to see where I might fall...brb (and getting Koda)
crossy, are those all prescription things?
Koda? .. dog or cat?
just the ventolin, but if the dr really hears you rattling he may give you a steroid inhaler as well
I mean is Ventolin prescription?
zooz ... must admit I had never heard of co8/60 before.
yes
thanks, crossy.
but ventolin and its steroid couter part are covered under most drug plans
I don't think I'm rattling -- just a tight chest if you know what I mean
crossy, I'm in BC -- Pharmacare.
then get a loved one to run you a bath nice and hot,and rub vicks on yer chest and back, slip into some pj,s and have some nice soup
True, Mo..have not seen that one either..i had trouble with the ga 6,27 one myself...took me a while to get that one..lol

...definitely a different kind of fun, dorens...but age-appropriate stuff does have its advantages...
...it doesn't take much to entertain a baby :)
Was Phoebe thrilled out of her mind?
absolutely. in awe.. just of the building itself (Boston Opera House... incredible place)... but the show too
entertaining the baby is cheaper and easier, i must say... but i hadn't seen the nutcracker in a long long time, so it was a thrill for me too
Whee .. halfway was a breeze .. how bad could it be??
What a wonderful experience for you, to go with your granddaughter!

i've had a mild productive cough for nearly two months now, pini. hope yours goes away sooner
good idea, telecommuting. *hands cup of lovely warm broth and a glass of ginger ale* push fluids to help the cough do its job.
I'll take the broth, but pass on the ginger ale...if that's ok, stidsis

Hi Scrabs and Pini
hi DR :)
How are you? We are rainy and loving it
Do you use the app "Stumble Upon"? It is a great way to discover many cool web sites but to also lose all track of time.
clear and cold here...
Hi DR--snow here, car crashes everywhere.
haven't seen that one, scrabs...do I dare??? :)
what is Stumble Upon? Sounds dangerous
Car crashes and very windy- 30 mile an hour winds
but, I love the rain- we need it
oh ho, DR! (bad for the drivers; great for the weather)
(less the wind)
I use Firefox as my browser and found Stumble Upon as one of the most popular and highest rated apps. You enter your interests into the app then click and "stumble upon" sites that match your interests. That is how I found Babble!! Word games is one of my interests.
I have found some really need blogs this way too.
me, too, scrabs...will definitely have to check it out!
*neat
might have to try firefox...
I need to heat something to eat...brb
The internet is a vast library and Stumble Upon allows one to search for specific interests.

Kap, we stand ready to confuse you when you are ready.
GRRRRRR.
You probably entered something in Lickety that you forgot to enter in the puzzle. I do that sometimes.
How can I still not have 2 4letter words?
Babbling makes you blind.
Oh-duh
hey, I still have 15 more to go and am definitely feeling blind!
How di I fix it if I forgot to enter something in the puzzle? I may only have one word left...but I won't get any fireworks?
What do you need, Pini?
Are you using expert, Kap?
Kappy...you can either copy/paste your list into the bulk add or do the reverse (at least I think you can do the reverse)
don't really know, wht...haven't listed yet
can't do reverse
ga 6?
you can always uncheck what you have and then readd the words
Half a zygote
ga6 = babble is a ga*** + coffee or **a
ty
1 more C...
forget it. what is the last te5/12. I will make my own fireworks if I have to.
is there more than 1 co6?
the last te5 I have is a pl of the te4 before it... (sounds like players group)
need one more! stuck on a ra5...
Only one co6. the co7 is a plural
ok..have those...
co 4,4,4,4,4,5,4,4,6,7,8,5,4
bingo...C's conquered!
I have that te. Anymore? Please- it's my final, I think
Kappy...just uncheck the T's in lickety's list and readd your word list...it will show you which one is missing ;)
(you don't have to uncheck the whole list)
The 2 ra5s differ only in the last letter.
Fireworks - 1st time in ages! thanks all

Yeah- does Somerville have a flag :)
pini -- did you get my email?
oh, yes, jilli...thank you!!!
Meant to tell you I think I'm definitely on the 'cold' side (sigh of relief)
Kap -- if you want your flag, go to your My Account and check the little box upper right which says Show Profile.
That's good, pini.
now I just have to get over feeling guilty for staying home from work and work on getting better
pretty orchids, pini. I just posted mine, which isn't a beauty
refreshing to see
oh, those are pretty....white, crisp, and clean looking! :)
(brb...Koda needs to go out for a moment)
I went to the doc today and he listened to my chest, then said to get an X-ray because there was something "not normal" there, which might be an old fibroid or something else. "You're not going to crap out over this, are you?" he said. "You're a fighter." I wonder what he's trying to say.
This doc is new to me and comes out with some strange sayings.
Night all you babblers. Catch you later.
Night wht.
I gotta go- I have to figure out why I lost all my Rhapsody library. I also got my MP3player wet- I am tuneless
Didn't want your flag, Kap?
well, nice. I come and everyone leaves.
jill you have the no's?
Hi jilli!
and hi everyone!
hi lb
Could someone please tell me what the 8 starts with?
hi wild!
co8
co8, wjb

yw

I heard a clue for the no's earlier but it didn't make sense to me
PINI!! are you feeling better today? we missed you yesterday
pini, please see my post at 7:39
Sorry, lbd...I'm home again today...acquired a mild productive cough so stayed home again

YAY wild!!!
ty sorry about your news jill

hope it turns out to be nothing
pini, I have to make an appointment tomorrow for the Xray.
whoooo hoooooo WILD!!!
* fingers crossed it's nothing *
off to my next adventure ... til next time
night wild
bye Wild! came back soon!
I hope it's nothing, too. This doc has lousy bedside manner -- sometimes very rude.
lbd, do you still have the link I sent you?
yes
have you been working on your scrapbook?
Hoping for the best, jilli
evening all :)
Jilli, if the cough is worse tmw, then I'll call and make an appt...otherwise it should pass in due course (right?)
hi BR, hi Jes
yes, lbd...scaled it down from 80 to 40 (only the last couple of pages to finish)
hi jes ;)
wow, can't wait to check it out.
Hello all
I'll make the Xray appt tmw -- the office was closed by the time I got home from the doc.
hi babrab
good luck, jilli! :)
It's bridge night so I must grab a piece of toast and get going. Back after the flip.
you're going to play bridge while you're not feeling well?
be well, jilli
bye, jilli
pini, I have no fever, no sneezing, just this annoying cough which I hope to quell with Fisherman"s Friends, cough medicine, and Tylenol. I can't let my partner down.
ok...but be careful (bundle up and drink plenty of fluids)!
Pini, the scrapbook is wonderful! i think the fewer pages is better too.
similar symptoms here...but add "tired' on top of it
me, too...it was getting long, but I knew I wasn't going to fill them all...I just wanted the space to figure out just how much I would end up needing
..and thx for taking another peek! :)
i like the layout of the pages, easy to read and the pics are amazing!
since i have no artistic talent i'm always amazed at what others put together. thank you for sharing it with me.
I like the personalization in that the narratives I found compliments of National Geographic and Wikipedia (credits will be in the back of the book) and the photos were taken by me, my dau, and my gd!
You're very welcome, lbd...you might consider trying it...it's deceptively easy! :)
took me three rolls of film before I realized my camera worked better with the lens cap off
oh no, BR!!!
many years ago
were you able to recapture by going back to try the shots again?
brb - going to quickly check email
I decided I was not a photographer and cannot recall the last time I had a camera in my hand
i'm okay with a camera...as long as i have enough time to think about what i'm shooting. I guess I'm from the old school of don't waste film, even if it is digital now.
'evening babblers!
brb, need some hot tea....HI WELKI!!
Hello, welki
Do you have a lot of snow, lbd?
anyone follow curling?
nah, I have short hair
i don't either (usually), but this year is special. i work with an olympian who's competing for the honor again this year. (yes, they really are athletes)
hi again
I need 4 R's one ra6(last one) and the last 3 re's
any clues
when i first moved to canada, while waiting for my work visa, i "won" some tickets to a curling tournament .. i went, learned some from the old timers and had a pretty good time :)
a good time watching ... my curling experience resulted in torn rotator cuffs (yes, 2 of 'em) and a broken pinkie! LOL
ra6 - think S***** and Deliliah
got it
fireworks
I only had to list for 15 words
that was cool
last three re = re+ 105 degrees is a high ***perature (plus plural) ... and the last one is re 4/4 re + **e **e fly, sleeping sickness spreader
good night all
oh .. haha, my clues are toooo late

Another obscure botanical ..
hi torg, how are you feeling today?
Not too bad .. I was out in the rain most of the day ..
that's a lovely place to be when you have a cold! *wags finger at torg*
I can get my h1n1 tomorrow .. They say if I'm going to have a reaction it will be within the first 24 hr. or so ..
I don't want to get it if it will make me sick while I'm travelling .. But going to China, I want to get it ..
i'm glad you're getting the shot. they still are limiting them up here.
am5/12
nevermiond
If I weren't traveling, I might skip it, but I think I should get it ..
well yes, especially since it's to China!
And if I do have a reaction, I can cancel the trip ..
postpone actually ..
are you allergic to eggs?
Not a bit ..
well, unless you've already got a mild case of the flu, you should be okay.
Cool beans .. I got the seasonal shot the other day with no noticeable problems ..
ga6/27 please
you should be fine then. unless of course, you don't want to go to China.
nevermind
tijani, are you pulling a peri?
sry
just teasing.
im just getting the words as soon as im putting downthe clue
that often happens, tijani. no problem.
I would like to put it off till after the first to be more flexible, but doing it now may motivate me and the customer to get the problems resolved quickly ..
So I can get home for Christmas ..
getting it done and over with is always nice
yay, fireworks! ...had to list for the last 5, but still...
being home for the holidays is a good incentive
whooooo hooooo rbud!!

Hi all. It was a nice easy grid today (for seasoned Babblers) and I say that as one whose brain is still fogged by 'flu (8 days into the illness.)
I am definitely NOT a seasoned babbler, but it was an easy grid for me as well Jacula&hi.Sorry about the flu
Heya Jacs ..
Hi Min and Torg.
whoooooo hooooooo MIN!!!
jac, you sound like you should be stewed instead of seasoned
LOL lbd.
Actually, I do not have fireworks yet.Still have 1 left.
Just yell if you need help, Min.
If I were a seasoned babbler, I would be done already
okay, that was just a warm up whoo hoo then. lol
******************fireworks*********** *****
whooooo hooooo tijani!!!
Congratulations tijani on your fireworks! Way to go!
Min - I don't know when you started the grid. Come to think of it, I can't remember what time I started it either. LOL. However, I do know that I finished it before I'd finished my two big morning cups of tea.
Well done tij.
I started the grid at 9:30, but I'm stuck on last word
Which is?
ma5/16?
I am done!I have fireworks!ma5/16 was my last word
short version of Mrs thatcher's first name, torg
whooooo hooooooo MIN!!! and it only took you a half hour! that's pretty seasoned to me!
The ma 5/16 is a woman's name; short Mrs. Thatcher
brb, another cuppa tea is needed
Thanks!
May I please have a clue for the N?
lbd - she was NEVER known as that! That's a short form of Marjorie not Maggie.
An no6/21 is no plus Santa puts candy in your ****king
Well done, Min.
TY Min!
yw
*has a quick lie down and commands a young man to fan her fevered brow at the very thought of Mrs.T. being called by Homer's wife's name.*
I keep checking outside to see if the puring rain I hear is in danger of flooding the house. Each time, there IS no pouring rain, it's the sound my 'flu bug is putting into my left ear at present.:(
May I please have a clue for the sm?
Ma5 is I think more of a shortening of Marjorie than Margaret ..
sm5 - a greasy mark on your specs or you windshield. sm6 describes it.
I swear I tried that word about 100 times! TY!
y/w car.
The wind and rain have bisected a tr4 in my back yard and deposited it against another tr4 ..
Correct re the ma5, torg!
As is true for Mrs. Simpson ..
fire works !! ....finally
Really re the tr4 thing, Torg?
Congratulations Team_Edward on fireworks! Hooray!

Since I'm done,I'm off to watch GH and then goto bed

Torg - eaten too many baked beans, eh? LOL
Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow
co 8?
I'm not sure what type tr4 it is but is a weak one .. You can see some rot in the space that broke away ..
co 8/60 is co 4/5 plus Jesus, Ma** & Joseph Shirlockc
co8 = a plant known as the mint geranium. Try 'price of' + virgin mother of Jesus.
*POOF*

The only think you need to capture in the mucked up link is the last line of it.
*thing. (It's late, I've still got 'flu and I've had a glass or two.) I know that rhymes since I am a poet, and if you didn't before, you do now know it.
hello all, just checking in. I see Jac is here so I am not needed to clue.

* tripping in over stid *
sorry, stid...didn't see you
LBD, it's COLD and DRY here. Lots of sun, ice on everything. "arctic express" without the pineapple preceding means no snow days!
hey pini
ha. accident indeed. I'm gonna tell on you!
uh oh * hiding *
i think it's cold everywhere
*runs for stidgmere* she'll fix you!
UH OH!!!
rofl... how are you feeling now, pini? still yuckeroo?
you probably need more tea or hot cider or something.
still down...not sure if any better
*makes lovely hot cider for pini* you want a little orange juice in that?
AT LAST! The single (old vinyl 45rpm) I have in my attic that no one but me seems to remember from the early 70s is on youtube: http://tinyurl.com/yfd3ntk

lbd...do you think stid would like the book?
and it's also time to crawl into my bed. flannel sheets, and lovely down comforters
here's something that makes no sense to me... the emergency shelter list is available online. how will a homeless person out in the cold have access to the list? *sad mama look* I feel so guilty for not having a place for people to come in from the cold
Pini, I think stid would love the book! probably give her lots of ideas
that sounds very nice LBD, I am going to go to sleep early today. Tomorrow will be sunny again.
oh oh... what kind of ideas?
I know what you mean, stid...how do they find out about these things???
don't worry, stid...its a good thing ;)
good ideas, stiddy
I like good ideas.
For the record, grad school was not a good idea.
Today it was an okay idea.
hold on...sending you the link now ;)
Some days it's a great idea.
and i really must head for the pillows. see you all tomorrow! feel better, Pini!
And sometimes it's a bad idea
(sorry to hear, stid...still think you'll be happy when it's all over!)
sweet dreams LBD
It's a lot of work stid, but it's worth it, if that's what you really want to do!
yes, I think it will be worth it in the end. just sort of wishing a magic wand conferred wisdom! LOL
I did my masters in 12 months. the college crammed 24 months into 12! it was grueling, but well worth the blood, sweat and tears!
on it's way ;)
I think I'll go back to zz now also.

thx stid...

cold water does NOT make sense *nods in agreement with harp* would you like some nice chardonnay? Tom is pouring
The writeups will receive credit at the back of the book (from Nat'l Geographic and Wikipedia)
If you ever get the chance, do go and see it ;)
I'm drinking water, too!

Harp, I showed her my picture book of a trip to Wildlife Safari (in Oregon)
a large wild animal park where you "drive thru" instead of walk

the park is nearish to Eugene, Oregon.
no...further south...closer to Roseburg
have passed it dozens of times on the way to and from visits with grandparents in Ashland and Los Angeles...
maybe he should consider a dayplanner or something, stid...

middle eastern leader, mkg, one of two spellings in today's grid
ty. thought i tried that but guess not.
he has one. HE has a calendar, a physical notepad, and he actually sent me a note last week about when he was going to take the test, but I didn't catch it.
still, it's HIS schedule and HIS responsibility. He is now negotiating with his father, so that he can leave his English class early.
oy vey, stid...guess he'll have to work it out...he didn't pay attention, he should resolve
gads, we think alike!
yep, see, SISTERS!
you really should meet stidgmere too -- we also finish each other's thoughts.
oh my!
poor kids, when they take vacations with the two of us they get everything in stereo. *grin*

ROFL!
probably serves them right!
no doubt, pini!
okay, I am going to spend a little more time this evening pulling my quarter's portfolio together -- the task I set myself today was getting ALL the paperwork from the quarter in chronological order; will actually pull out my "representation of best work" tomorrow and Wednesday. MOST of the writing for the quarter is now done.
fini!
(sorry, distracted...Oprah's doing an interview with a family of a 7yo girl with schizophrenia)
*satisfied mama look* I don't "like" all the hoops, but
YAY harp!
Good luck, stid!!! *HUGS*
wtg harp!!!!
Well done Harp. Really zzzzzzzing now.
I do like the fact that I am learning skills that will be useful as a teacher. later all! *poof*
off to get my orchid now
* awaiting the unveiling of harp's orchid icon *
done. whew. nice one for me. i only needed about 4 clues. so was this an easy grid? is that why? lots of plurals and Y's at end.
wtg mkg ;)
pini are you jewish? i see the oy vey. i never remember anyone on chat.
No, mkg...I'm not...I just like the term
"oy vey" just says so much in very little wording
oh funny! cant imagine not being jewish and using it. for me it is natural but i doubt i would pick it up if i werent raised with it. but then again i never just heard oy vey. it was always "oy vey iz meer.......and then followed the issue at hand.
well you can say "oh gosh or oh darn and it is the same isnt it?
I hope using it does not offend
it does, mkg, 'oy vey' just sounds so much better
Hi everyone. I am short 2 words that I am completely blind to. Can anyone clue the last st 6 and 7 please?
Hi all!
actually now that i rethink it usually the phrase was "veyizmeer" and then something. the oy was used separate and oy vey was used almost mockingly.
bugs...st6 = avenue (s)
hi TNC
no offense at all.
hi pinikula
* waiting for Bugs to hit self in forehead *
Oh PIni. I am embarrassed to tell you how long I looked for those!
Just popped in, and am reading chog. mkg, I'm not Jewish, and I don't know any Jewish people who use that phrase; but I do know a lot of non-Jews who say it because it really says a lot more than gosh darn would
Well, darn glad I could help put you out of your misery, bugs!! :)
I think instead of hitting myself I should start drinking again.... It seemed easier with a glass of wine
hiya nef ;)
ROFL
have a glass for me!!!
hi Pini
I decided to give up wine for a while. Probably a dumb idea.
maybe I should take it up!
Not necessarily, Bugs. I gave up drinking because I don't feel good when I do drink. Even a single glass of wind causes headaches for me. I like the taste, but not the after effects
glasses of wind give me gas ;)
* scoots away from TNC *
sorry, I couldn't resist :)
:)
the doctor told my husband to stop drinking beer and lose weight to lower his blood pressure. Mine is fine but I felt I should be supportive.
LOL! TNC, that's a side efect I've never heard of before
only when I drink WIND, though ;)
I crack myself up tonight!
that's good thinking, bugs ;)
But, if it takes over an hour and I still can't find st6 and 7, I need to trust that he know I love him!
* big grin *
I will pick up a a bottle tomorrow for sure!
Thanks for helping Pini. I hope you are feeling better
trying, bugs...you're welcome...!
Did you go see the doctor, Pini? Was it the flu?
haven't gone in yet, but may make an appt tomorrow...
...kinda ruled out the flu based on the symptoms, but guess I should make sure
Are you still sick?
have a minor productive cough...I think all the aches are from lying down most of the time...
what color are you coughing up?
nothing green!
there isn't much, the sputum is minimal, but the chest production is a little annoying
(production = rumbling)
we used to have a saying: "white, yellow, or ???? treat at home; dark gold, brown or green you gotta be seen"
are you using humidity and expectorants?
I'm on the front end of that little ditty...
...nothing yet...don't have them here.
(I can't remember the word in our little rhyme; I've got the first part wrong because pale green should be a watching sign and dark green is serious)
humidity is just put a pan on the stove top and make a lot of steam. Boil a bunch of water
kitchen's on the other side of the house...
It loosens up the lung crud
how about the shower then? Just put the hot water on and sit in the BR a couple times a day
I'll think on that one, Nef...I might be able to do that for short stints
11 left
and drink lots of water too
GO TNC!!!!
I have a jug next to me...
git'r dun, TNC!
