so sorry... lost my server for a bit!
Hello everyone. Hi Jellen! I put an article on my profile a few weeks ago I thought you and Tim should be interested in
I'll check it out now, lynxxx!
The doctor in St. Louis talked about this treatment...he said Tim would be a good candidate should the cancer come back...
finally fireworks
Yay, Dee!!!
Grant McArther is my oncologist, if he is speaking 'in public' about this then it must be 'true', he is very serious about research. Veeerrry exciting to know it exists. How is Tim Jellen? what has happened
Congrats Volley!

ty all
Let's see...he had surgery for a new growth in October...was referred to a research hospital in November...so far, so good on follow-up tests...

yi4 offensive name for those of the jewish faith
and the 2 gi4's
hi rumpy -- three of us posted clues for you a while ago -- did you see them? You seemed to have disappeared.
1st gi4.6 to get an understanding of something, the other is an anagram of that
ost gi4.6 to get an understanding of something, the othere is an anagram of that
rumpy -- see 1:29
disappeared again?
oh well, and I must too - bye Jilli and all
TY all that finishes my 4's. Off to bed. It's my birthday, so I have to get up early to bake my cake.
bye lynxxx :)
happy bday, rumple!
TY rbud
many happy returns, rumpy!
and hi, all, big delay in getting here...
hi rbud :)
TY jillibus
why the delay, rbud? And cute icon :)
slight net problem, coming and going, lots of that the last few days.
bad weather, rbud?
yes, and I think the cable box on the corner has some ice in it. the town guys hit it with mowers all summer long, then when the weather gets bad, it acts up.
Well, I have to go to bed -- earlier start tmw than usual
night, then, jiili, sleep well.
So good luck with this grid, rbud -- wish I could stay and clue but I gotta go
oh, I'm okay, halfway already, thanks! :)
and *poof*
did I miss the flip?
I know I did, freep.
hello everyone
hi granny!
glad someone is still awake. how are you brook?
doing well. baby woke me up at 3 a.m. and while he's returned to sleep, i'm fully awake! so babble it is :-) how are you?
doing ok i guess. i know how it is when babies wake you up,was sole parent to 3 boys for 13 years
wow! i'm sure your sons appreciate all you did for them growing up.
let me reassure you. it does get better. takes a while, though. if you ever need someone to talk to, my email is in my profile.
i appreciate that very much and might take you up on that offer sometime!
i'm sure you will. it's a tough row to hoe, being a sole parent
on another note, a mild victory for me, as of this morning, is that I finally made it to Babble'
Babble's village elders list
whoot, brook, wtg
How are you finding this puzzle today?
I am finding this puzzle annoying enough that I'm going to bed
late flip, late bed, late goodnights to all!
good night!
ohhh, freep, don't give up.i'm here, to help, if you like
brook, have finished already, late flip an hour ago
wow, good for you! are there lots of weird words in this one? i'm asking because i still have 45 words left and am stuck
there are couple of weirdies, i haven't had before. like da5, add a vowel to da4/6
thank you! i never would have gotten that one!
brook, do you have lickety's list up?
and ga5, ga+ to do ( past tense )
i've used the list heavily in the past but am now trying to get through at least 80% of the puzzle without pulling it up. silly goal, huh?
another excellent clue!
not so silly! but this grid has some strange words in it. so if you list, then you can tell me where i can help.
don't forget to plural
i have very clever monkeys on my side. lol
lol
* grin *,i made you smile, that's made my night
i'm glad!
ok, in6, in + what a publisher does + vowel
thanks again!
add a vowel to old fashioned word for speak ( past tense ) for sa6
any help with the "y" at the top?
nm, got it
nasty word for jewish people
yay, brook, wtg
ironically, my family is jewish, and i never heard of the word!
jean
oops!
how about the "n" in the 2nd to the bottom row?
if you are divorced, you might have a decree ni**
thanks! another one i never heard of (and I'm divorced). clearly i'm not learning any vocabulary from my life's experiences! lol
st8, st + how someone who lisps might say is + 2 vowels + fourth letter
it's a past tense word
th5, article word, not a or an but th* + not out
you're awesome at 29 words left but am going to return to bed now, so i'll be refreshed for work later this morning. thanks again, and i hope to talk with you again soon!
si4, si + Not Here
ok, brook, hope your little ones allow you to sleep, see you at the flip
see you! poof!
nitey nite to anyone who is lurking, will be back. * poof *
morning all, if anyone is here at all
Morning sprite
hi norma
having fun with today's grid? Or is it a baddie?
It isn't good lol
Some strange words
hehehe a challenge then. Not quite up to one, but will try.
time for me to crawl under my desk and turn on the heater. Winter is getting serious!
Keep warm sprite and hibernate until spring. What a dream that would be .... Fireworks...... have fun
te
gratz Norma and thanks. Keep dreaming, it is magical :)
hi Frances, te to you too hun.
Hello sprite. Caught out! I was having a quick lurk before heading out.
Are you well?
there is no law against lurking :) Just happy to see you, however briefly.
Thank you. Very happy to see you too.
yeah, partly well. A bit down because they cannot find the cause of my feet losing their feeling. But trying to keep confidence that either we will find it yet, or it will go away as it came... all by itself.
Oh sprite, that cannot be at all pleasant for you. I do hope it gets sorted very quickly.
so do I, I feel like it is another extra problem and I cannot handle it. But I know I will have to if it doesn't go away. And don't we always find a way to do what we have to, eventually? People are resilient, right?
Exactly sprite. You seem to be coping with all that life is throwing at you - somehow. Keep yer chins up girl.
lolllll I will! Just that remark made me laugh again, so you rock, girrrrrl. Thanks.
You are so welcome. If I can bring a smile to your face I am happy.
that makes two of us. As long as we can laugh, we can handle life, Frances. *hugs*
Beats crying every time I always say.
. . . . . and it takes fewer muscles to smile tha
than to grimace.
yeah, we need to cry once in a while, and then we need to kick our ass and get moving, and be willing to laugh again. Laughing gives better wrinkles too ;)
Oooo! Sorry about that!
about what??
Split post.
17 muscles to smile, 35 to frown..... Turn that frown upside down :) Hey Babblers !
aw, no problem.
hi Aussie, you got it :)
Exactly Aussie . . . and good morning to you.
Morning Sprite and Frances.... Lovely to see you.....
99 words..... does the grid have teeth today ??
I already found about 200 words ending in -ting and -ding. Can I scramble the grid a bit please?
yes it does, Aussie, it is smoothe until it suddenly becomes a challenge. Or at least it does for me.
lol.... If we move it, we'll get more words....
ouch, true. Ok, no scrambling. Can I get a free word for every hundred phantoms then? ;)
**gives Sprite a free pass**
I'm back. Postman bringing lots of goodies.
*jumps up and down with joy* A freebie, a freebie!
awww Frances how lovely!
My postie has not arrived yet.... Maybe half past 11 before we see him !
same here, postman always rings late
At least he isn't going to ring twice Sprite !
grin, no, which is indeed good.
yes, because the second time is bound to be bills !! lol :)
Our post is not good either. When you think that sixty years ago you could post something in the morning and it would be delivered the same day - without all the technology and transport that we have now. Now you are lucky if you get something in a week.
exactly and I don't need those!
same thing has amazed me, Frances, until I realised how incredibly much more post we are talking about now.
I know, a letter was sent maybe once a week, now, imagine just how much mail is generated every day, to go round the world !
But I am waiting for a parcel that was posted on Saturday - guaranteed next working day delivery (Monday) and it still hasn't arrived. It cost a lot more for 'premium' service too.
it is about time we learned to communicate telepathically.
Some people think we do sprite. Lol!
Sounds typical of our mail system Frances......
if they don't deliver within the premium promise, you can complain, I think?
sometimes we do, lol.
I will sprite.
I am sure you can Frances (Complain that is)...
More than capable Aussie.
of course that doesn't bring your mail any sooner :(
I didn't mean that you can complain, I meant I am sure it is in the agreement that you can complain if you don;'t get the service !! lol...
Unfortunately not and it was a Christmas present for my granddaughter. A camera.
may it arrive today! With an extra postman!
**fingers crossed for special delivery**
I doubt it sprite. Postman always (only) rings once round here.
I found an 8 I found an 8!
WOO !!
I found one eight Aussie. st8.
Sorry, meant sprite.
ah I have the other one. De8
stid is in the grid today !
our stiddie :D Yay for that.
Thanks sprite - looking.
same here, for that st.
have the de8
yay found it. Thanks Frances!
wtg Aussie :)
Found the de8. Thank you too sprite.
poounce
HERINNNNNNNNNNNN !!!!!
Hi infernal.
hey lady *hugs* How are you and how is school?
hugs all s good. how you?
good here... I have my Mom with me !
no good about my feet yet, but for the rest pretty ok.
Hello, All :-)
Zooz !! Lovely to see you !
hi zooz!
Morning zooz
Loving your icon Spritey¬
thanks zooz!
sorry destracted
Another small grid i see.
Aussie I can't believe how big Smurfett is
Hello, Herin
Yes Zooz, with teeth !
I know Herin....
oh no..not another one..lol
not a bad one, zooz, some challenges here!
Hey. I just saw new pics of my friend from school. she looks different
Cool Herin.... different good ??
Yes. I think that one of the girls got her hair all cut short. I tried to get a decent trim yesterday and the silly girl cut my fringe uneven. i don't think she understood a Betty Page style cut
{{Herin}}
oh no, hope your hair looks ok still Herin.
awful when your hair isn't as you like
Its just the fringe but seriously how hard is it to cut it straight.
yeah, even I can do that, giggle
I am going to the speciality hair dressers next time and paying the money
drop by at my place the next time you need your fringe cut :)
um yes then I could have an awesome holiday
Don`t blame you, hair takes a while to grow back, especially when you want it to grow quick..lol
wouldn't that be grande!
actually, i have got some clippers here :-)
D's DONE !
wtg Aussie!
go Aussie
I don't mind now I can actually see without my hair dangling in my face
thats good Herin !
my sister used to hair a bad habit of chewing her hair when it was long..lol
then again I am thinking it could be saved by actually doing a proper Betty Page style. I use to chew my hair. Maybe I thought I was a cat
i`m talking when she was young by the way...lol
lol
fireflies. Very nice grid. Can I help with anything at all before I go?
YAY Spritey !!
Well done Spritey.
yah sprite
no help needed? I am off th4. Bye all and thanks for the company and fun. *hugs*
Thanks any way sprite, take care.
*hugs spritey back*
i am down to 36 to find.
Any way up left for me

Asia
And with that I am off out having got my sparkly things. Bye all.#
YAY !! Frances, you get the prize !!
Thanks Aussie. Bye again.
YAY Frances !! See you soon ! xoxox
Morning all. I do NOT want to go outside this AM. The weather reports aren't nice at all. :-(
agreed, nef!
Are you affected by this winter storm, Brooke?
i think it's just supposed to be cold rain here. snowing where you are, i take it?
blizzard contions, It's snowed overnight and we have 20 mph winds (not just gusts)
yikes
sorry to hear that!
I think I have to leave in about 10 minues so I can get to work on time (and I live in the Twin Cities in MN)
in your profession, you still need to report to work, correct?
ah, you answered my question :-)
drive safely! you probably get a lot of practice driving in snow where you are
yes; but I'm now a nurse manager in a pregnancy center. However, today is a clinic day and I'm expecting 25 clients today (wonder how many will make it?)
clinic day means routine checkups?
I used to live up by the Canadian and North Dakota/ MN border. I moved south for the warmer climate! :-)
that's funny! it's all relative...
yes. We have a CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife) who comes out and does all the routine prenatal exams (full physical, etc.) on Wed. and Fri.
maybe those who are in earlier stages of their pregnancy will wish to reschedule their checkups
I provide a lunch too. Today I'm taking in homemade chicken soup
that's so sweet of you! if i were pregnant and in minnesota, i'd come to you :-)
It would be nice if many of them did. However, we only have 1 on today's schedule in her first trimester; most are in that 30 + week part of the pregnancy when they should be seen when sheduled
thanks. This clinic has been doing this for 30 years; I've only been here for less than 1 1/2 years; so it isn't something *I* started; but it's a neat thing to do
it must be fulfilling
it is. And I see it's time to go too. :-/ Have a good day!
you too, and be safe!
Bye! <Poof>
Can't find the in 7/32 or st 8/50 - any clues please
in + what a writer does + vowel
st + w***hold information + vowel + past tense
while you're cluing, do you have the other 8?
good morning, by the way!
de + what matter turns into when it burns up + gerund suffix
good morning to you too!
tyvm!!
yvm!
phantom: pachycephalic
I am not getting the in 7, what does a writer do besides write???
the writer corrects his or her work
AH, ok. Actually his ed4or does that
you're correct, however a writer ed4s his or her work before submitting it for review (at least that's what I did when I wrote)
ok BR... yeah... that's my phantom, too... LOL!
BR, I saw that phantom too!
Gotcha, BTW, you guys have sophisticated phantoms - I just keep seeing giant
gotta go now with 19 left... happy babbling everyone! poof!
Oh, and dating. Is anyone here dating a giant?
Mich... that's basically what I was trying to say.
you people are on the ball
Got it, OK, I am only half on the ball, since I am sneaking my game time at work. No one is here today so I am getting away with it, but I'd better leave the rest til later. Bye for now.
OMG.... I clearly need more coffee! Obviously BR was joking as there is not a word even close to the one he led us to believe was his phantom.. LOL! Good one BR!
The fact that I needed that pointed out to me does not bode well!
BR sees things in the grids that no one else can see...
my phantoms truly are phantoms
I'll say!
OK... but if he saw that one I would have to believe he was hallucinating, LOL.
or maybe clearly in 6/18?
well, in 6 can be a welcome respite from the rigors of reality
Good morning, folks
I prefer to believe he inhabits another plane of existence, where this grid is a mere shadow of one far more complex and multidimensional
I often long for a quiet, padded room.
I often long for a quiet, padded room.
Snowed in here and only a short grid to hold the cabin fever at bay!
good morning, Merk
Uh oh was that me or my computer? (Doo do doo do - twilight zone theme)
Off to work now for real...
be well, Michnick
bye mich
Dr. G should supply an emergency backup grid when we have such a small one, for snow days, sick days, and long airport layovers....
actually, I just haven't been the same since my favorite wall ran off with the ceiling
anyone have a clue for the top row N? can't seem to find a thing
I just read the grid and am clueless about that in. I never know when you guys are being serious, especially if I just crawled out of bed and haven't had my coffee. I'm still in my p.j.'s
good morning babble friends! varina, the top n is a na5/6 combo - it's a sort of water fairy, I think
lots of vowels....
oh thanks, trif!
and can I just say, I about FAINTED when I saw this grid! as if four i's yesterday weren't enough, somehow they multiplied overnight.....SIX! DREAD
will trade for a nudge for the bottom right D
di5 thou ask for a clue, fair trifioso?
Wasn't yesterday all those n's?
curtsying in thine direction, fair varina!
also, the baby needs a fresh di5
Loved that fuquay
LOLOL poor baby!
preceded by a do wah
okay, that just leaves me the upper (dreaded) i for nbt....saw some scuttle in the chog about it earlier, but could not get the monkeys to cough it up....something about writing and correcting?
<deep bow, sweeping off feathered hat> the pleasure is mine, fair friends.
in7 = in + what a writer does to a manuscript to polish it up + vowel (latin plural)
BIG KISS
that's Naughty Bits Tingling for me!
lolol
ty
whoop - just found Tor's favorite ti4!
I can guess what that one might be.
ugh - it's almost time for the second alarm to go off, meaning I have to wake tertiare. School picture day today -- double ugh. she is a fierce little warrior queen, so getting her to brush her hair and wear something less hideous than every day is going to be a right old battle. Sigh
My tummy is giving me no peace. I absolutely have to get some breakfast for it and coffee for my brain. bbl
choose wisely, beloved merk!
Ah, but the oatmeal doth beckon me from the tin
tata
I think oatmeal is a wise choice. yummy!
see you later, Merk
good lord! tertiare had one of the kittens under the sheets with her, down by her feet! cozy...
cats are such good bedwarmers
okay, time for the "you are NOT wearing that in the photo" battle - wish me luck! (putting on armor....)
good luck!
Can't get ye/4. Any clue?
it is ye kenny
yi4, actually
rhymes with synonym for children
Sorry. yi/4 it is.
ok, off to work. hagd everyone and happy babbling
Got it.Tx Enomis

oops sorry
Good morning all. Snow + igh winds started last night. Power went out. My furnace is npt working. 57 degrees in here. Brrrr
got long johns? ;-p
But I'm glad you have electricity so you can be here with us Scrabbler.
My oatmeal is cooking, my fruit ready to add to it, and the coffee is brewing. God is good.
do you have a wood stove scrabbler? And how can you use your comoputer without power?

wonder if whatever was giving scrabbs competer access just circled the drain. I'm set to lose power today-battery powered lanters, bottled water - but no computer when the router isn't working.

It's just pouring cats and dogs here in Jersey.

Too quick of a grid today; 7:45 and I'm already finished. I guess I could always go out and freeze to death shoveling snow.
Oh, please don't do that!
ty, enjoy the rest of your time here, Hego and others. See you in the morning for a hopefully longer grid. No, I'd have a heart attack before I'd freeze to death.
We'd miss you.

any clues for the st 7?
Is it just me or is this a nasty nasty grid??
it seems to be related to the st8 but I haven't got it yet
this is a nasty nasty grid
normally I would ask for help for nbt and I can't even get close enough not to be embarrassed for the number of tiles I need!
I've got the list jmc and I don't see how it could be related to the 8 -- similar maybe, but not related
I monkeyed it inadvertently looking for the st/8. It's not a past tense, and there is a vowel inserted into the past tense st/8 word.
the clue I saw for the 7 was end with a vowel
if you spill the wine you will st**n *** carpet
ty jan *looking*
ty jmb -- was sure I had tried that!
ty jmb
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help :)
well that explains why I couldn't get it from the 8!

yw, congrats wht!
Yay wht !!
how are you both? any snow up your way wht?
whoo hoo wht
hello jmc !!
hi west
haven't been on with you in quite awhile
slushy mess here in PA today. Yuk!
same in RI ciocia
was a winter wonderland earlier
heavy stuff too! was afraid to leave it on the sidewalk for fear it would freeze before I get home
It switched to all rain here in Lancaster/Chester County.
eventually switched to rain up my way too Jess but left the slushy mess behind
we had snow this morning but it is raining pretty hard now.
my daughter was really hoping for a school delay today. No such luck.
and dollars to doughnuts it will all freeze..yuck
Jess, where are you? We had a 2 hour delay on our schools at home.
Hi All!
hiya hego
I live in Christiana, in Lancaster County.
Hi JMC
hello hego
My wife was hoping for a delay as well. At least that was her excuse for snagging the garage. Then I had to brush of my car so she could get out.
and Judy
I'm working today in Reading. Live in Schuylkill County.
If there is any snow left tonight, I will have to shovel the slush before it freezes and turns to granite.
I went to Alvernia College (now univ) in Reading. :)
our garage is so full we can't even get the car in there
right. i just sat down to play and i realize that i ought to go out and shovel before it freezes, yuch
rather have the snow than the ice/slush crap
just wait until Spring wht..it will be gone by then
Hi Dorens.
if I could only do that, west! LOL
Ahh, the religious approach to snow removal, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away."
there will be more
hi judy. they cancelled school today. bums me out, i'd have preferred the delayed openiing
wow--snow day already, Dorens? we had a 2 hr delay
bummer dorens
they have too many snow days where i work.. complicated, but we're in a regional district for high school, and all buses come from that district. the other town is really hilly and roads are more dangerous. so although only about 8 kids are bussed to our school, if the buses can't go out to ringwood, they won't come to us and we can't have school if those 8 kids don't get bussed.
sorry, that was long and unnecessary
not at all dorens just buried in the grid
i'm almost at halfway, and then i have to go tackle my driveway. afraid of this slush turning iinto ice and it will never melt
we had the same situation in Westford if the buses couldn't run all school was canceled
I'd love a clue for the upper left g..have gi4/6
last year we used up all our snow days, and came perilously close to adding on... and we go till late june as it is
Another gi4/6 ..
g + freud believed in egos and i**
I know what you mean..our granddaughter almost went until July
thanks for the g dorens..now 20 left and I'm off to wrap
just found out today our headstart program utilizes are regular buses so if there is more than an hour delay they have to cancel (which they did this morning)
i hiave 46 left and i'm off to shovel.. would gladly switch places with you
bye west. come and wrap my stuff when you're done
see you later Dorens
no thank you lol
sure thing ciocia lol
Guess there's no snow in S.D., Tor
hope it will take no longer than an hour and then i can reward myself with more babbling
nice to see you all..back later
No snow but we had a big storm Monday and getting another tomorrow .. Lots of wind and rain ..
nice not to have to shovel rain . . .
we're due for severe winds the next two days
Heyas Kids !

YAY for Dorens! Well done!!!!
now a nice cup of tea and finish the grid, but first i really ought to take off my wet socks!
Good girl Dorens and you didn't freeze or collapse or anything!
oh yes, def do - NOTHING is worse than cold wet socks. gross!
nope, no collapsing, certainly no freezing... everything is melting and dripping all around me, I kind of thought it might be a waste of time, but have no idea when it will turn cold again and then all that slush turning into ice would be catastrophic
man, this is a complete waste of time - I am not finding a single word....
i'm down to 40 trif.. you will find them when you try hard enough, i am sure
I am down to 22, but totally, utterly grid locked
It's a lousy grid trif. Alot of pseudo words.
Lots of monkeys
I hate the letter i. I am just saying....
Are you going in****?
hah! that's right.. see, you complained about four i's the other day, so now you have five!

Hi Inge

hi, babblers. I asked my hubby to go to Costco for me, so I am procrastinating. I dont want to drive in this weather
i don't blame you inge.. good weather for staying inside and babbing
The worst of our storm is still in the offing, tonight and Thursday am
10
then i suppose it will come here a day or so later?
well, New England already had a storm
oh we did too.. last night (that's why i'm home today.. five inches)
but if you have another tonight and thursday, then i expect it will travel east, they usually do
this is our firt snow/slush
our second, but considerably more than we had last saturday (at least here there is)
New Jersey weather often comes from the southwest, Great Lake storms go to New England
Finally! Done with this!
Bravo Hego
i guess so... just seem to have gotten a lot of chicago weather a few days later
yay hego!
five and breaking for lunch. see you later
Does anyone need anything before I go?
Southern Michigan was spared the wort of this Chicago storm, it went north of Detroit
Do you get lake effect snow, Inge?
rarely. Lake Michigan winds blowsnow to Grand Rapids, rarely as far as Detroit.
Guess I'll go then. Good day all!
bye hego, be well
Inge, New England is lucky, all the storms end up here. If they come across the midwest, we get them. If they come across the south, they hit the coast and turn northeast and we get them.
we just got some rain in northern NJ
win t
we got lots of rain and lots of wind -- broke our downtown Nashville Xmas tree in half -- had to be hauled away this morning :-(
OMG... my husband once got "snowed in" in Nashville because they got 1" of snow and some ice, LOL. He was like, what????
yep, we're pretty pitiful when it comes to snow :-)
but it's much worse south of here!
It was kind of funny... he tells the story all the time, LOL.
as6 anybody? I'm brain dead
I think it was that terrible winter of '96... I was pregnant with my daughter and we got something like 60" of snow that winter (at least one storm was just shy of 2 feet)... so to be "snowed in" in an inch was hysterical to him!
take what's left after a fire and make it a gerund
what's really scary here is when we have an ice storm -- people drive like IDIOTS and the ditches are FULL of cars!
ty so much, Uneaixoise
yw :-)
He said the Grand Old Opry closed... that's his favorite part of the story... he stayed at a hotel across the street and figured, what the heck, I'm here... might as well take a walk over there, LOL!
i miss snow -- when i was a kid we often had lots of snow at Xmas . . . but with global warming . . .
It's still cold here.
I would have welcomed a little global warming yesterday, to be honest.
no kidding! LOL
I need the sa5/16 and st5/14 please?
They keep saying it is 50 here today, but I don't believe it... it is a very cold kind of bone chilling rain.

hi all
hi Rosie.
Well, just to complicate matters, I'm rebuilding my garage - which is where the hot water heater is - and right now it's basically just demolished with a bit of framing. We insulated the HWH, but apparently not well enough! Glad I'm not going anywhere tonight - I do need a shower! :o)
hope you are keeping warm.

Words you use every day, right Brookie?

In a sentence- "He is a righteous man, a real ts***. Now you can use it.
you're right, kaplan!
"dinner will be takeout. I am extremely lazy. I was supposed to go out tonight but you couldn't drag me out there.
*wanders in and looks around...* taking a study break before I go home to study more. 15 words left!
The reason I start all my chats with a " is that's what you have to do to chat on wordsplay Old habits die hard.
hi stid!
I'm here to clue.
can someone clue me the st7 and st 8, please?
what takeout cuisine will you do, kaplan?
We are doing burritos. tonight. usually it's Thai. These are the nights when I cook
st 8/50 sew a ****c* + not she, but **
st + can't live w***out chocolate + vowel + past tense... that's the 8/50

The st's were nasty and hard to clue.

It was an old musical show on TV - but you're probably not old enough to remember! The front of your lower leg + create a hole
(((hugs all))) see you-all soon! *poof*
or, exactly what kaplan said
bye, stid
Makes me think of gidget.
and exactly what is the problem with babbleland being your life?
Oh, am I showing my age. Does anyone remember Gidget??
It is at least as good (if not better) than Second Life
Michnick are you Israeli or what?
I remember Gidget
For sure!
Second life and Farmleand I won't go near for fear of being sucked in
I think I am what. I grew up in the States, but I have been living in Israel since 1985
I choose my addictions
Where in Israel?
Jerusalem, where do you live
right kap we allll choose our additions! lol
Massachusetts. My in-laws live in your neck of the woods.
Where in Jerusalem do they live?
oh my dear lord - what kind of world are we living in? here's what I just overheard on the evening news: 2 female teachers caught naked in a hs classroom during the school day while students were at an assembly
How stupid can you get???
there are 2 year olds who have more self-control
Actually, they live closer to Tel Aviv- but stop the presses- JBV has some really important news!
Were they dancing?
what? nekkid people in Jerusalem?
heard in on channel 4 - a new york city hs
No, there are no nekkid people in Jerusalem, we never take off our clothes.
sorry to confuse these two threads - I just had to react
Must have been the High School of Performing Arts
Or Striptease High
It was too cold today to be naked in a classroom.
maybe they were just swapping dresses
not for these two, kap
ok, jmc, you're officially hired as their attorney
I think it was an anatomy class
is it hot in here or is it just me?
Life drawing? No big deal!
muey caliente jmc
lol jbv I always try to think of an alternate explanation to alternate behavior
I think I forgot to mention they were caught in the act - the tv did not specifically mention the act
They must have been swimming teachers changing into their bathing suits when a big monster came and stole their clothing....happens all the time.
oh then it was acting class, hmmmm
Maybe they were both having one of those dreams where they woke up in a public place with no clothes on---and it actually happened
*Little Foxes Act 1*
Folie a deux
ROFL jmc
OH Kaplan, you win - I am hysterical
:)
very clever kap!
you certainly have a lot of good excuses at hand, kap, :)
We sure got a lot of mileage out of that one
*getting serious, adjusting foil hat*
want a feather for your foil hat MP?
Yes Kap it was over the river and through the woods I believe LOL
kap is really a teenager - they are the best at coming up with explanations
You can use any of those excuses next time you are naked in a classroom
oh yes, jhm, how kind, I think I could pick up LA if I had a feather in my foil cap!
red or blue feather?
thanks, i'll file them away
howdy, folks!
Teenager- how kind!
hi welki
oh better take red...closer to pink
hmmm maybe I can find a pink one -- let me look in my trunk
st 7,32 plz
what is this foil hat biz?
welki...how goes the fishing today?
How do I get a flag on my icon anyway?
do you want one too kap? it helps you obtain words and wards off evil thoughts of other babblers
welki look at the strange fish in my sea (icon)
st + vowel + can't live w***out chocolate + vowel
st 7/32: st + hen l**d an egg + article
go to your account and enter the country you live in then hit upload Kap
I just googled the story. You didn't say it happened in Brooklyn - that explains everything!
Oh is that how you do it?
yep and if you put your sex in you get a pink, blue or grey person
someone clue something new -- that word has been clued a million times
mpittore .. fishing would be great if i was somewhere fishing. there's enough ice on some of the lakes now

I really don't talk about sex with people I don't know well
yea kap it worked
mp .. cowfish. very rare, but tasty.
Hello, all...
it is entirely your choice kap
oh you will, kaplan ... it's just another babblething
But it's not easy being gray.
yes, mich - a big brooklyn hs - very sad for the people who work there, families who send their kids their. etc.
which brooklyn hs?
james madison
my mother went to erasmus
well I am guessing you are tough enough to be grey or green or pink or blue kap
it's really too bad the school name will suffer - but then, it does make you wonder about security at the school
okay I am going home since my drink date has stood me up
welki, LOL and they come with four glasses of milk too!
If I were tough do you think Id be playing wordgames on the computer
(why would the security be checking up on two teachers?)
Gotta go..
I am told I am tough and I play word games on teh computer
bye all! *poof*
bye, jmc
actually, someone saw them, so I don't know if they were in a locked room, but classrooms are supposed to have windows on the doors so you can see in
I don't think they were checking up, the report I heard said it was evening (after school hours) and the janitor just walked in on them. The school does have a good reputation.
feh. it's not right, but it happens all over.
Bye, Kap

Hey nrkii...got a question is Captain Katz's still off 295??? Best oyster stew!!!
sorry MPittore... haven't heard of it
but I don't live that close to 295, and my travels don't take me that way very often
We are going up to Killington, VT in Jan and wanted to catch his "owwystir" stew (the way some Marylanders pronounce it)!
does anyone have the new theme?
looks like there is a Cap'n Cats in West Deptford, NJ
MPitt -- today's theme was Black and White. The next one is Stars. To see Sprite's list of themes, go to Http://tinyurl.com/6z7unz
oops, gotta run
night all!
Hi all, and bye nrkii!
thanks Jilli...hope this finds you well...thanks nrkii I think that must be it! going to find an icon...brb
st7/32, please?
ok got a black and white icon...very interesting one...or is it two?
Marc - if you have sa6.21, add a letter to make it st7/32.
hi jacula!
Hi jilli. I'm not 'icon modern' at the moment. LOL.
Hi MP.
thanks got it
y/w Marc.
love these small grids gives me time to get some sleep
wen
sorry
the last st5/12, please
well...I'm off to do a little housework...dusting off the tv remote LOL
Jilli - I used to love opart. The first time I ever remember seeing the word and learning about it was in the 60s when my Sindy doll had an Opart outfit and then I got shiny patent leather boots and a bag in that style.
Hello kids. I have been checking the weather forecast--we are supposed to have 2-3 FEET of snow by Saturday! Storm will hit at 2 AM tonight.
Marc - what the farmer did with the pigs when he put them into their home?
'Bye MP. Can you do mine when you've finished yours? LOL
thanks
Hello Scrabbs. That probably means we in UK will get snow in about a fortnight (2 weeks).
y/w Marc.
Last st 5/12 word is s plus ti 4/5 word Marc Freeman
3 nearby school districts already decided to be closed tomorrow
does that relate to the st8?
does that relate to the st8?
jacula here something for you...I collect dolls from the past...http://sindy-dolls.com/...enjoy ...leaving to dust off jacula's remote...so many remote's so little time...*poof*
Hey, maybe we'll have a 'white Christmas'. Cue Bing Crosby song. LOL
MP - Thanks for that site. Mr. Richard Lines has my first Sindy doll in his left hand in the first photo.
mini a st5 and an ti4 makes a st9
st8 is an old word for 'forged' as on an anvil in a smithy.
jacula...tiny ps here....have you ever seen the op art done on sidewalks...it is very amazing...now you have given me another doll to search for they remind me of the madame alexander "cissy" doll or maybe the Jill dolls have several of those...need to look for a sindy! night
sorry mini did not read your message correctly
don't know the word Jac
MP - my original Sindy doll's head eventually fell off - probably as a result of me trying to make her 'snog Paul' her boyfriend. My Dad fixed it with a piece of wooden dowel and she was a bit heavier after that!
Marc - try this for st8: s + t** (bosom) + h4.6 word for 'greeted'.
MP - not seen the pavement/sidewalk Opart, no.
Alright, off to bed now. Must get up early to get a head start on the snowy situation.
Sleep well, Scrabbs.x
HI everyone. I am not feeling well and it is a lttle grid but is it a stinker? If it is, I would rather not start so please be honest with me!
Bugsaw, I'd give it an 8 on a scale of 10
Goodbye Scrabbler! I will see you tomorrow in the log
Hi Bug - hope you haven't got the 'flu bug I'm in day 10 or 11 of! I found the grid easy, but see what others think.
piece o cake
I have saved that site to explore later...will check ebay...love most things from the 60's...here's the pavement site most fascinating..http://users.skynet.be/J. Beever/pave.htm...going to search for Sindy & Paul on ebay...tossing foil hat in air til tomorrow! *poof*
thanks guys. I will give it a go then. No flu, just a long depressing day
Hello Bugsaw. It was not too hard for me to find first 55 words, then I had to go to the list which helped me
MP - don't forget Sindy's sister Patch and her little pipecleaner dog Ringo.
MPitt -- that pavement art is amazing indeed, but it's not Op Art, which was a school which began around the sixties. My icon is an example, if you click on it and see who made it.
Hi again, people -- I had gone for a bit to find an icon for the next theme -- Stars.
The first thing me and my friend Linda did when we got our Paul dolls for Christmas was to pull their jeans down to see if they had any 'boy bits'. They didn't. Poor Sindys! LOL
I am VERY disappointed with my icon.It is all black in the chog, but if you click on it, it is black and white.
Hello jillibus! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Oh, and MPitt, I LOVE your Black and White!
howdy min and welcome to the grid..your icon is a tad..err..emo
and Min, I LOVE yours too, but agree that it's a pity it's just black here.
Hi Crossy. Sorry I haven't done the bacon muffin recipe for you yet - I've been ill.
hello all
Ill, jac? Flu?
Jilli - yes.
Poor you!
Jo aslindy.
Or even 'hi'.
Hello aslindy! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
i have a question plz
jilli - you've had it, too, I believe. Poor us!
I've had something strange, still coughing but hooray, today it seems better.
Yes, Team?
Ask away, Team
i found deni in the lickety's clues but its telling me it wasnt found in the dictionary
de4/5 is a church man but not 'deni'.
a church man?
brb
de4/5 is also the head of a college.
deni? In this grid? Did Lickety's list accept it?
jacula you are plucking the strings to my other addiction...thanks jilli...I loved the icon myself so much out there and fun to find...I was just thinking anything that was an optical illusion like his sidewalk art is (guess his is more like 3D) was op art...I will check it out...I had several pictures that resemble the technique yours has so I will learn the difference...clicking heels three times...Hugs and *poof*
To explain Opart and the principle behind it, view the pic at this link: http://tinyurl.com/6fwzvd
It's frustrating when people ask a question or ask for clues and promptly disappear
MP - your 'other addiction'? Curiousity about sex? LOL
jilli - it is.
Jilli - I posted your Christmas card today. I'd be interested to know how long it takes to reach you.
I have an up dated icon now. I will begin. . .
BTW, I DIDN'T lick the envelope to seal it but usd a wet sponge and I also asked the man in the Post Office to lend me his sponge pad for putting the stamp on. It was my first time out of the house in 11 days walking. I was exhausted when I got back.
The theme, however is 'black and white' not particularly OpArt. I could post many of my own drawings in which case, but most don't work well when squashed on here.
Thanks, Jac! *hanging head because I'm late*
Bugs -- wonderful icon!
thanks jilli. I always loved that picture
Press refresh or F5 to see MY black and white of the day.
jac that is amazing! I had no idea you were such a famous person.
LOL Bug.
how many covers have you done? It must have been a huge honour
How many covers? Erm, not sure - 30 or so, perhaps.
Plus illuustrating my own stuff and other people's. Years ago now, though.
well done. Are you a commercial artist by profession?
No, Bug. A gifted amateur who struck lucky.
I did not inherit the talent to create, only to appreciate a good piece
you are so lucky to have "struck lucky" so many times.
My Dad taught me all I know, guess it's genetic, Bug. I'm also a published writer and poet. Again, no formal qualifications other than A level English Lang & Lit., just good teacher who encouraged me and good luck to get published from the age of 5.
hey you all, keeping warm? It is freezing here!
Bug - without people who appreciate stuff, there'd be no point in us creative types creating stuff.
I have to go and get some supper -- glad I want some! I lost 10 lbs in the last couple of weeks.
Hi everyone, could someone clue the yi4 and the first in4?
I would love to have a look at some of your stuff. Is it online anywhere? (I don't mean to be nosey, but the truth is, I am)
jen,i woke up to -10c and 7 inches of snow this morn:/
Hi Jen
Hi Jen. It's fairly mild here in UK at present (I think), but I may still have a high temp due to 'flue, so don't take my word for it.
Be careful jilli. I hope you feel better very soon
got the yi
we got about half inch here in Missouri where i am but up northern MO they got 12 inches or so
yi 4/7: y + present your **s to prove your age
Jilli - I never thought to weigh myself! I hid the scales some years ago after my daughter got sick. I'd get them out again now, if I remembered.
but the temp. is below zero!
*'flu not flue.
in4/4 country hotels
ty buff
YW, SS!
some of the obvious are the hardest to find, thanks again!
Bug - my stuff, some of it, is only one line in my private blog.
Isn't that the truth, SS! :o)
Or even on line. I wish I could type properly tonight!
You'll alll laugh at me for this - I'm persisting in using a knackered keyboard because I'm saving the couple of decent ones I have for when I want to do some serious typing, i.e. start writing properly again.
ok.I thot maybe some of it would be published in magazines or something
Bug - well, it was, but I don't have all the references to hand to give you right now.
Silly girl jac! You would probably start writing again if you had a good keyboard! :)
S's Stomped! 5 left
Bug - this keyboard has 'flu germs on it, often gets full of cigarette ash, crumbs and wine spills, has been taken apart and put back together, and wiped with de-bug wipes so often it sticks now. Until both me and my Other Half decide to give up smoking, the decent keyboards will be kept well away from the 'office/den of iniquity'. And no, it's not him that's the stumbling block, it's me.
jacula, ill have to introduce you to a neat little piece of software called dragon natuarlly speaking v 10.0,it is a program you train with your voice and you can just speak what you want and it types it all out for you
ive done babble with it;))
Crossy - does it understand regional accents? I'm quite 'posh' when sober, but if I've had one or two, which is the natural state for any writer, lyricist or poet (I am all of those) then I sound like Ozzy Osbourne.
its can handle mild to moderate accents
Crossy - and would you say Ozzy's accent was mild to moderate?
crossy! I use that with kids who have major learning disabilities! I am imagining you leaning back in your chair with your feet crossed on the desktop dictating and watching the magic. What decadence.... :)
you dont want to be soused and dong chaper 3 regardless;)
E's Eliminated! 2 left
doing even
hehe bugsaw
my son uses it in school as well bugsaw
'soused and don chaper 3'. LOL. Makes me sound pickled and on a man bang expedition.
A's pushed As 5/12! 1 left
Go Min!
lol,you will have to interpet my typos,i should be using the program now as it does a better job than i do lol
I am done! I have fireworks! di5/14 was my last word
I will be here for clues for 10 more minutes if needed.
The hardest part is getting the kids passed the training part where it recognizes your voice and accent. It types what it thinks you said and you are supposed to correct it. When I hear hilarious laughter coming out of the quiet room, I know they are just enjoying the errors instead of getting down to business and I have to go in there to have a quick laugh too and then tell them to get back to corrections.
Crossy - never use the spell checker. It once suggested 'Shovel' to me in place of 'Tivoli'. That wouldn't have made quuite the Italian holiday I was trying to paint a picture of.
Well done, Min!
took me the better part of 3 months to properly train my edition bugsaw
Thanks Jacula!
i read it about 6 books
oh wow. way too long for kids with short attention spans anyway.
Min - I guess your last was the first di5.14?
i had my son read it alice in wonderland
it is invaluable tho for kids to struggle to write their thots. They sit back, dictate and are shocked when they feel they have just started the story and they have already filled a page. It does wonders for self-esteem
My last word at 6.20am grid time was a daft wi4/9 - the thing you do upon a star or after you blow cake candles out.
best program i know
it costs a lot tho doesn't it?
version 8 is 100 dollars,my version 10.0 was 350.00
but there is nothing wrong with v8
i must go for now good night all and happy babblibng..poof
mmmm v8
too much for me then
Seriously, I prefer to have a pen in hand to write any first draft. I can write straight to keyboard but prefer not to. I start getting all formal, probably due to my business grounding, when a keyboard is involved.
No, actually the last word was second di 5/14 Jacula.
jacula, to answer your question form earler no lickety's didnt except it, and i dont know why
night crossy
But, once thngs are written and then typed, the bet thing to do is to read them aloud to some kind of recording media. A dictaphone in my case, mostly. That way you can see or rather hear what does and doesn't work.
Min - I thought's you'd have got the Shakespearian past tense before the other word.
Team - dunno what to say about the lickety thing. I use his straight list at times, but I don't use 'PRO'.
It is the babblets that I do not usually see right away
back (and the plumber is on his way)
calu caliegh o fabjeous day
that doesn't sound good pini
yeah...pipe broke
Pink - why is the plumber on his way? What's happened?
One broke at work, too :(
came home early and there was a small fountian running in the backyard :(
yikes that's not good
And, has thou slain the Jabberwock? Come to my arms, my beamish boy! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!' He chortled in his joy. `Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves,
We just winteriz
and mame rathes outgrabe.
we hit a low of 8F last night (lowest we've had in a long time)...and still no snow :(
better jac I was going from memory not google
it's 19F now
l(sorry cat on my lap again) .... winterized our pipes just in time for this cold snap Pini
Sorry - mome raths outgrabe.
I may be winterizing (just a bit late)
too cold for snow at these temps
I am happy to say it is 48F here
I went from memory to Google and then from memory on the last line and got it wrong, jmc. I think I prefer my version.
we don't have any moisture either...
oh, and I went to the DR this morning...to check on this annoying cough
Since nobody is asking for clues, I am off to bed now.
Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow
Sleep well, Min.
bye Min
G' nite MIn. Thanks for all the greetings and encouragement
i am joining the icon revolution jilli
seems it was a cold last week that decided it had had enough, but wasn't quite finished with me yet as it decided it would be bronchytis instead
night min ;)
whoo hoo ru (I supprt nonviolent revolutions)
night minver..
Pini - you are lucky you are allowed to visit your doctor at present. Our surgery has a notice on the door, which lists 6 symptoms (of which I have 5) that if you have you must not enter the surgery. In other words, as my daughter reported to me, 'Got Swine 'Flu? Well, Bugger Off!'
oh crap I forgot to go to the store.
It is freezing out here...
ga 6,30 plz
oh my, jac! sorry to hear!!
I have never been told to bugger off in my life.. I feel Like I am missing something
let's hear it for national medicine!
ga+ I *** it!
what does bugger mean actually?
hi everyone!
tx jmc
it means something under the category of expletive deleted
hi lbd and team
hi
just visit a Middle School ruru. Some student will oblige you in no time I am sure.
hi jmc. are you done?
dealing with rear ends ru
Wiki for bugger, ruru: word used in the vernacular British English, Irish English, Australian English, Canadian English, New Zealand English, South African English, Indian English, and occasionally also in Malaysian English, Scots and (rarely) American English. It is derived from buggery, a term originally used to describe either anal intercourse by a man with a man or woman,[1] or sexual intercourse by either a man or a woman with an animal.[2] Today, the term is a general-purpose expletive, used to imply dissatisfaction, or used to describe someone or something whose behaviour is in some way displeasing.
gads, learn almost too much everyday around here! LOL
Incidentally, the term bugger has been used here in UK and in Aus since the 20s at leat in the way it is still used now.
no lbd I have 34 left
git 'r dun, jmc!
46 left here...
git 'r dun, pini!
welll... I better bugger off to the store..
...not sure I'll finish...will be helping fix pipes when the plumber arrives... :(
Bugger off/sod off/ eff off (or 'go forth and multiply') - all mean 'Go away, you annoying person!'
oh no! i hate plumbing problems!
I h ope you get a big discount for the plumbing if you have to help
Ruru - LOL!
between me and the house's plumbing, something's gotta give soon!!!
are you feeling any better, pini?
thankfully it's a family friend, jmc...so, I simply help and pay for the supplies.
just the annoying cough, lbd, and some serious body aches from not having moved much in the past week (diagnosis per doc today: bronchytis)
Pini - the Gas Board, who put our new boiler in about 9 weeks ago, and flooded our house in the process have sent us a letter from a loss adjuster today querying the quote from our workmen.
bronchitis, well, i guess that's better than pneumonia. take care of yourself.
egads, jac...are they going to fix at THEIR cost???
will do, lbd! :) telecommuting from home tomorrow since a pipe broke at work and there'll be no water in the building tmw
Let me see - the bill, very reasonable, since I don't want too much disruption, came to £1,750. Their bill for the boiler and thermostat work is just over £4.000. They won't get a penny until they pay for the damage the idiot they sent caused.
i'd send the board your bill for having to clean up the flooding, jac. then see what they say about the workmens bill
no kidding, jac!!! stand your ground! :)
as5?
a+ part of a square?
Pini and lbd - I have every intention of doing both.
ty lbd
yw
Actually, lbd - if each of us in the house who cleaned up sent our bill in for payment per hour of cleaning up, they'd ow US money! Nice one! I'll get onto the paperwork for that later.
and they should owe you money, jac! their responsibility for all expenses incurred as a result of their screw-up
hello babble friends. back to bury this sucker, hopefully!
hi trif!
hey trif
heyas dolls!
hi trif
howdy
jmc, you will appreciate THIS - mr. hate cancelled the joint accounts, as I told you, and he gets paid once a month, today. So here comes my big share - $1,000. For the four of us. For a month. Ummmmm NO
mr hate is such a d**khead!
I already called my lawyer....
does he realize it's not YOU he's paying to "keep", but his CHILDREN!??? sheesh ...what a scumbag
Well, let me see, who cleaned up British Gas mess? One Managing Dirctor and owner of a multinational company, his PA (me), one Heavy UK and International Transport and Health & Safety Manager (Beloved), one IT consultant to a multinational company responsible for fire safety (my son), one university student who is also art consultant for brochures for aforementioned company) and one schoolgirl who got disrupted and didn't get her homework in on time.
as long as you already called your lawyer I will keep my mouth shut *zips mouth shut*\
sounds like you've got it down, jac!!! (make sure you use your standard professional hourly rates!) - definitely NOT minimum wage!!!
oh, please, jmc--- let it rip, even if it means you have to yell at me. I think I adore you well enough by now, that I could take it
oh, please, jmc--- let it rip, even if it means you have to yell at me. I think I adore you well enough by now, that I could take it
MMPH MMMPH MMPH
Pini - none of us would even dream of going for minimum wage.
Trif...just remember we're not yelling AT you...we're yelling WITH you *hugs*
BTW - in case you think it's a family thing, it isn't - we don't all work for one company.
no no I think your attorney can help --- but you may want to go apply for food stamps etc so that when you go to court you can mention that little point
what f***ing a**hole
would this be an appropriate time to tell him to bugger off? ;-)
I didn't think that at all, jac!!! I figured all your rates might be different ;)
anyway...enough of that. we have focused negative attention on him for long enough. on with the fun.
yes precisely lbd
and literally
quite, jmc
evening all!
hi dan
Trif - I've no idea what your ex-marriage situation is, so forgive me. I was very pleased when Belovee stopped any payments to his ex after he discovered her live-in b/f had been abusing their daughter and she, after me peasing with her not to, had decided she loved the pervert more than her own child and so was giving her child to us to sort out.
kinda different jac
oh, jacula, that is AWFUL! I am so glad that that daughter has you to help!!!
can anybody clue the st8?
However, she still gets on cellphone to her daughter, or rather her daughter rings her, and her mother still does her best to disrupt the parenting regime we're trying to put in place.
Hello everybody. Jac, I just got here; how is your step dtr doing?
s + 10% given to the church with an extra vowel in there before making it past tense, dan
hi Nef!
Jac I have sa4 before you are a wonderful person taking care of your step-dau
have 15 left, and totally gridlocked. think I need to grab the list. damn
especially in relation to the mother
hi nef
tx lbd that's firewords!
hi lbd and kmc!
whoooo hoooooo DAN!!!
whoo hoo dan2
Nef - it's not been so good lately - we have discovered she's been stealing from us and lying and cheating, and behaving inappropriately on webcam on the internet.
YAY, dan2 WTG!
wow that is ruff jac
(((Jac)))
oh no, jac!!!!
is this all just acting out for attention; or is she just too used to chaos that she can't stand Normal?
I suppose she is testing the limits, jac, isnt' she? "will they still love me if I do this? this?" Her mother cut her loose - she is testing to see if you will too
Fireworks woooooo whooooo
hi Trifi. That's what I was wondering too
tuff balance between I love you no matter what and consequences for actions
whoo hoo Tea,
WTG, T_E!!!
the inapppropriate behavior on the webcam concerns me most
*team
whoooo hooooo TEAM!!!
I wanted to make her hand over the next 6 weeks of £10 pocket money to me with an apology for stealing from me, I also wanted to remove her webcam and make her internet access for the next 6 weeks SUPERVISED. Beloved has not done any of that and I've had no apology from step for any of that. And I am still very, very angry! I know she's had a bad time, and I've said she needs counselling ( but that's not been set up yet), but, despite all that, she still needs to realise that her actions have consequences and if they are bad actions and make other people feel bad, punishment, atonement or apologies are needed. I've not seen any of that yet,
that wwebcam behaviour is the most dangerous
a's abolished
How old is she? Can you take the webcam away for a while?
agreed, jac ;)
jac it sounds like you are taking the best steps but need BF to back you
go trif go
your beloved, needs to step up and be a father. make her own up to her actions.
I agree with jmc there. He needs to understand that she can't do things that are harmful or hurtful to others
j,mc - exactly! But as another friend of mine said, 'Maybe he feels guilty' for leaving her?
Nef she is 14 - 15 next week.
doing nothing pretty much tells her she can do as she wants, without reprocussion. hmmm, echos of her mother's behaviour
sooo that is when you say to BF lets get counseling
he'll feel more guilty when his lack of action now that he has her gives rise to even more negative actions!
I can take her webcam r internet connection away any time I choose. But I need her fther to step up and be a parent and do it.
edward, are you still here, dear one?
Now I see where the 'wicked stepmother' from the fairy tales originated. LOL
good evening; I wonder if I could get a clue for the di 5/14 s
I think you have every right to remove things from her and expect positive things out of by virtue of her living in a home YOU occup and that her activities are not welcome there
(did that make sense?)
well it would be better if he was a man, but it is more important that she not have the possibility to engage in such potentially deadly behavioiur
di + not live and old english for done
di + 'leave life forever'.
Jac; when my dtr was 13-14 and giving me heartaches; I made her pack a bag for an overnight; NO electronics or headphones were allowed; and I took her on what we now call a "Girls' Runaway"
which is pretty much what pini sa4
di5 (2nd) - Shakespearian word for an action.
go on nef
We got in the car and DROVE and TALKED for a whole weekend. That first time I didn't know where we'd go or what we'd do; but we've had great times whenever we did them
Nef - I have to admit that if I even vaguely liked the girl,m rather than just feeling sorry for her, I might have done the same by now.
Thank you for those; got em
I feel very guilty that since the day I met her when she was 8 I have always found her extremely irritating. It's not that she's not my child, because I have loved other kids that were not my own.
some people are irritating -- it is not your falut
Jac, at the time *I* didn't like my own daughter! Something about daughters (or step-daughters!) at that age is NOT a good thing for Moms
you may have been picking up echos of her mother in her. that would scream loudly to me.
She's much too much like her mother, unfortunately. Hopefully, years will go on and I can help make her not become her mad mother.
you have hung in there in spite of that so you should feel anything except guilty
If she reminds you of her Mom; do you think she knows that?
d's done
it probably worries her that she is like her mom
at the same time she wants to be like her mom
so it is hard for her
does she have any qualities of her father you can work on?
keep reminding her that she ISN'T her Mom!
Nef - even when my daughter was blaming me for her illness, due to what her so-called counsellors told her, I never stopped loving her.
I see her biggest problem lies in the early sexual activity with mother's partner. When that happens there is always coercion involved so these kids equate sex with love. Their boundaries are warped; hence the webcam stuff. Take the webcam away whether her father can or not. Deep down, she wants to know someone will fight for her because her mother didn't.
well sa4 bugs!
bugs you make a really good point
Nef - there's a problem with me saying that, maybe. When her Dad had problems with me, I kept telling him ,'I'M NOT C!' (his ex). Not sure if that will move on a notch if I say that to their daughter.
IMHO, her father's inaction to step up and/or support the positive aspect you bring to his daughter's life simply perpetuates her mother's actions so, when all is said and done, she doesn't see the difference between the two
I really don't need all this crap aty my age!
that sexual exploitation really throws a spanner in the issue
11 left, and I just can't finish
yes you can, Trif!
I have to agree with Bugsaw and jmc. That girl is pushing you for a reason
go trif go
Bugs - thanks. I might just do that. It sounds like good advice.
nope. giving up. good night all!
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Your advice, too, pini.
night night, Trif
when I was young my daddy would beat the shit out of us when he came home druck
*drunk
you absolutely don't need this kind of crap Jacula, but she absolutely needs someone in her life who will help her learn how to respect herself. When she feels worthless, nothing really matters. You don't have to love someone to be a valuable force in their life. Please let go of the guilt.
I honestly found his actions more forgivable than the fact that my mother never did a damn thing to stop him
Thank you all. You have mademe see that I am NOT the wicked stepmother. Now, how do I deal with my ex-hub's concern about me being used?
IN 7/32 pls
from this I conclude that she is seeking your protection
in + what you do to correct your grammar on paper + vowel
we are all being used
Thank you
LOL, jmc. That's what I told him when he said it.
why do you need to deal with his concern? Your life is your's to do with as you will...if loving your partner is important to you, then love him; if helping your partner raise his daughter in a more positive atmospher (once all the players are on board), then help your partner; etc., etc., etc....
I CHOSE to live with my strict Aunt and Uncle rather than my lax to non-caring father when I was 15. I really think all young people look for boundaries
Ex-hub may just be stirring you up. You have chosen this kid's father over him and he probably isn't happy about that so if he can get you two arguing....
yes they do, Nef. it's part of the pack, a pecking order and just knowing where you are in that order.
i'm heading for the pillows. see you all tomorrow.
remember jac your ex husband is your ex for a reason
night lbd
bye lbd
24 left
nite lbd!
My nephew chose to live with his strict father for the same reason Nef. He thot his mother's acceptance of everything, no matter how inappropriate, showed that she really didn't care about him. He is now in the RCMP.
If I have any thought of finishing this grid, I'd better concentrate (46 to go)
Nef - thank you, you have now confirmed my belief, 'cos it's not that long since I was n my early teens; I'm only 52. Yes, boundaries are needed and so are consequences if your actions have overtsepped the boundaries. I just hope that I don't end up with the Dad leaving too,if I decide to bring up the daughhter in the manner I see as proper.
OH! That's good enough to repeat, jmc! "remember jac your ex husband is your ex for a reason"
pini, if you need clues, I'm here and have nothing to contribute to the other conversation
hi jill
Can anyone tell me how to overcome the urg to stangle her now, since she's no idea od remorse since sshe stole from me in my own hone?
thx jilli ;)
hi jilli
hi jmc and all
Perhaps you need to get your partner to counselling to help him see how he can help. My educated guess is that guilt is holding him back.
Her Dad should have taught her that.
just remember tha she has no remorse because she it not doing it under the same rules that would result in remorse
ad5?
what bugs says
pl of ad 4
ad5 is pl of ad4
Should I know, weeks after the event, after waiting to see what he would do and then being ill with 'flu, TELL HER?
She may have remorse but she is not going to let anyone see it. She is just angry at the world right now.
oh, duh, jilli...slap me now!
just a tickle, pini ;)

*melodramatic pose*

<--- backs into the shadows
*swooning so smelling salts are helpful*
Not now Jac, but have a talk with her and tell her how disappointed you are and how violated it made you feel. My son stole money from me almost all his childhood but one Christmas he gave me all kinds of special coins and bills that he had collected over the years because he wanted to make amends. He was in his late 20s then. Keep the faith.
jilli! don't go!
A friend of mine, who was abused as a child, gave me some insight into the warped logic my stepdaughter might have now, and also into the way her Dad might feel guilt at his inability to protect her. It's him I need to talk to first, I think. I'll try again -= I've tried before.
*shines bright lights so there are no shadoes*
Jac, my DIL is bipolar (new diagnosis) she admits that she does soe things because calm and normal reality is "boring" and she doesn't see why she should apologize to us; but BOY! If we do something to HER; *We* owe her an apology! I got through to her one night when she was saying that by telling her that SHE owed ME one for the way she acted!
:)

love the icon jill
ONe thing that helped me not strangle them was a tip from another abused "not my REAL mother"
21 left
2nd di5/14?
thanks, jmc :)
Every time you want to strangle the kid and can't wait to see the backside of them, you go shopping. Instead of buying something for yourself, you buy something that they will need to have when they leave home.... It works so well!
flosey had a great Black and White one -- the whisky :)
what a sweet id4 bugs
brb jill
bugs is one wise woman!
When the kid steals something from you, go out and buy a set of mugs or a kettle and put it in a special place. IT helped so much and when he was ready to leave home I didn't go broke trying to set him up so he wouldn't come back too soon. :)
darn flosey has alraedy changed to under the stars
interesting concept, bugs!!!

first di5?
glad to help. I needed every tip I could get when I had kids at home.
yep, torg -- as + lateral view
;)
Bug - I'm not her real mother, so that doesn't help me much. Her real mother dcided she preferred the man who was not only a pedo, and she had been warned about him before by an ex-partner of his. anyway, she'd rather be with him than her daughter. What worries me now is that he's still free to molest other young girls. But, to put him away, it'd need |Step's testimony in court, the stuff she told her Mum but her Mum didn't tell the police. He's not willing to put her through that. I think it should be done and that would also help her on her way to counselling nd eventual recovery.
help with the ts words
FISH, tor!

1st di 5 -- I always wanted a Di5 doll when I was little -- it wet its diaper.

wordsplay is a speed game. 4x4 or 5x5. 3 min
no thanks to wordsplay. The leisurely pace here is what appeals to me.
