why are we giving clues so early?
duh ty ty nbt
I beg your pardon
always have for nbt nan... least since I have been here we have

don't forget the ke 6 which is what the ke 4 is on
ty vash
at least in the first hour
ar 6/24
hmmm, didn't realize I have nbt
wtg, flosey :)
i have 55 left but middle a still blank
interesting theme jilli
wtg flosey
That's why I don't read the chog for the first hour or so that I work the puzzle. I'm at 136 now and slowing so it's time to check out the chat log
what does nbt mean?
aedes
I thought it was particularly interesting that this photo was only released today.
No BlankTiles
wow jilli, you are right up to date then
and wtg
ty jilli
darn jan i thought that would take care of my a
(got my nbt a while ago, flosey -- that was answering MPitt's question)
Me too, ha ha...
ah
MPitt, interesting moon, would like to know more about it
your moon is so romantic, flosey :)
late flip... and has ae7 been called?
haven't been watching the chat so much
hi freep, and yes :)
thanks jilli, always love to see the Harvest Moon
125 down will leave the remainder for tomorrow :)
thanks, jilli. that was my big proud word :-)
tx just that gave me nbt at last
bye, nan
ahh, good. my lateness helped someone!
he 7/36 if not called
fireworks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
every time I go to leave someone calls another 6 or 7 that I just have to find first ;)
wtg Mixi
wow mixi!!!
7's: ae, he, re, tr x3 -- don't know what I'm missing, though
There's a ta
and another re for re x2
Lickety's list has been up for quite a while in case anyone missed it
ty jill -- not ready to list yet though -- would like to go listless on this one
This one definitely has listless potential...
to each his/her own
That's what's fun about this game--everyone can play in the say that gives them the most fun.
flosey...here is a site that can explain a few things that can cause a blood red moon...
*way...
flosey..accidentally pressed enter key, here is that site
not quite, jan
7's dpme amd 40 to go. Good night all :)
flosey...oops...must be getting tired I will try again...http://www.universetoday.com/g uide-to-space/the-moon/red-moon/

well, all need to go put my head under the shower again... nasty cold... head is so plugged it is awful :(
how is your cough jili?
YAY dee!!! Cough's getting better, thanks
I wish your cold was, dee. Biserable.
quicky answer is 1) during a phase in a lunar eclipse 2) particles in air and 3) forgot the other I am really tired so my brain is fading fast here...I promise to be better tomorrow *smile*
ty hope it goes away soon... hugs to all *poofing*...me, too... my hair stylist gifted me with it grrr
really *poofing* now
oh, niiice, dee :(
g'night dee
just found the 8...
hi ruru :)
hi.. just got here a little bit ago
hi ru
hi flosey..
thought everyone would be done and I would be alone here
not many finished that I've noticed
no chance, ruru -- I'm a bit over halfway.
I think 2 have finished -- mixi first, and nan just now
nan left jilli, I don't believe she finished
missing one h
oh that's right -- she had 40 to go
that's all, ruru?
no I have tons to go
that would clean up the top row for me
well, I'm missing 8 Hs :(
must be the same ha I'm missing?
i'm missing 3 h's - how many ha5/14's do you have
3
have 1 ha5/14
i have 2
really, ruru? you have three ha5/14s???
ha 4,4, 5,5,4,4,4,4,4,5 he e,6,5,5,4
three ha 5's
three ha5s, but only two 14s
there are only 2 ha5/14s
yes
i have he4/6/5/5/4
you're missing an he7, I think
hmm that's it
ahh, ty
30 to go and I'm off to bed, goodnight all
night flosey
I could use a clue for that one I guess
it's a compound, goes after the 1st he5
thank you
top row done
wtg ruru
31 to go
I'm too sleepy to do any more now
me too jilli...104 left
aww.. then go to bed jilli.. it is late
I'm also upset. I find the post-flip calling of long words very distracting, but that's the right of those who enjoy it. But the ban on any clues before an hour limits the right of those who enjoy getting and giving them.
did someone clue early?
finally got the 8
Guilty, just to help dee get nbt. 2 little ones, and got told off.
s
oh that isn't a big deal..
she had asked for help
Why did that raise such a ruckus?
No clues until an hour is up is the "rule"
oh that rule should go away sometimes
but the distracting calling can go on forever
"guilty as charged!"
Hello! I am really frustrated. I am missing a re6 between (alphabetically) re-examining a student and re-doing your tires...Can you guys help me? I have been looking for a long time. I give up.
When Lickety's list is available I see little point in the calling except as a brag as to who called first.
that's true.. although I do it to help others
who don't want to list yet
well, I've never raised an objection to that because that's the way some like to play
jaeleigh i have an re6 before re examine - to rip again
well, jilli... it's not just about bragging. it's fun... and more fun, at least for me, to get those words without the list. so if someone calls a 7 or 8, I can hunt it down.
hi jae -- I don't see an re6/18 between those tings, but there's one before the exam
ursh, thanks! that was it!
I saw that too Jilli and I don't think you do anything wrong...sometimes people get too serious and caught up in all the rule stuff and forget it is only a game to have fun with... and it is such an honorable thing to help others...you are such a nice person the way I see it.
and I agree that the no clues before the hour should really be a "guideline" not a rule. When someone asks... particularly a "regular" who knows the "rule"... why not? The goal is fun, ya know? not rules.
I agree...
The one hour thing doesn't apply all the time
freep, I'm not objecting -- as I said, to each his own
Those people can just turn off the chat
Oh, I know. I'm just explaining another point of view.
I am afraid I can only "speed" 4 and 5 letter words so the calling of bigger words does not help me
babble chat is one big room, and sometimes it's hard to have more than one conversation thread going on at a time
I understand that point of view, freep
so people get defensive when they cannot dictate the flow of the conversation when they want
I'm like ursh
I think it is helpful to call them.. but that is just me..
The claiming them as found is a bit weird though
you and lots of other, ruru, and that's fine
yes. the called words aren't trophies... or shouldn't be.
i could use help on the last re 6/21 if anyone has it
hi all :)
I am also missing the T7...
hey mr. p...
last one i have is take the SAT again
Hi mrp :)
stupid- a mental re****
there are three tr7s, jaeleigh
(ooooooh........)
ty
there's also a ta7 which I don't have
ty jae
fireworks
the most ta4?
YAY josh!!!
nice, josh
like a sour lemon?
ty ruru for the ta7
like the most sour lemon ever
excellent josh..well done
well.. so sorry you are upset jilli.. I won't call large words ever again...
Ty, josh!
only the k's and y's were tough to find if you are patient enough to go through every. single. permutation including a e r t s d
don't be silly, ruru! I never asked anyone to stop doing that!
I'm the one who was berated for giving a clue too early
What's the problem - surely there's no need to follow-up on clues, if you'd rather go your own way.
for helping dee? who helps us all every night?
gimme a break!
jilli - I wouldn't lose a minute of sleep over it
Finally, I'm done.....Ty so much....As for me, I think that calling of long words is silly, btw
fireworks
i think that the calling of long words is an occupational hazard for those who like to jump on the new babble as soon as its out of the oven
YAE jae!!! YAY freep!
jili- you were kind and that is NOT a rule written anywhere on this site!
but cluing is very important to help out all the babblers, not just the competitive ones
I start the game too engrossed trying to find anything at all, then take advantage of any clue that catches my eye. So thank you, Jillibus and anyone else that 'clues' me.
This is supposed to be a cooperative game, not a competitive one.
that is the point exactly jilli
the 'rule' about not cluing in the first hour is bullshite
Right! And you cooperated...you were right!
Them as wot don't wanna get the clues, just don't read 'em.
Christine, the problem was giving a clue before the first hour is up
who made that stupid rule ?
there is no rule... tell them to FO jilli
LOL, mrp!
ruru, there is no rule...
Who's in charge of the shooting squad, if you disobey the 'rule;.
Yay! Mr.P>!!!!
I understand players like sprite and others don't want them .. but they can turn off the chat no?
personally, I think giving clues for 6 letter words that start with C is beyond the pale. That's my hard limit.
lol
This chat box was created JUST for recipes and gosssip, no????? LOL!
tend to lurk........but appreciate all the help I can get.........ty cluers
I like to call the 8 and 9 letter words when they are found... it helps others find them
I likereceiving your clues, Jillibus, almost as much as I like the daily notes on your profile.
well, sprite likes to chat too, while she gets words by the ton, lol!
<pouring loving energy on jili>
but I don't tend to clue them cause I am selfish!
thanks, christine -- I enjoy doing those things
I am always impressed how you just jump on those 8 & 9 letter words in an instant mr p
aw, nice, jae!
<gorsh>
hugs all around
I have a motion to make
ruuster, do you notice that the ones I do jump on are compounds?? I am a compound lover!
in public?
motion away ruuster
go, ruru
I propose we make jilli the patron saint of early cluing..
**hugs** ~!
seconded!
patron saint of everything!! Jilli has been an inspiration to all in this game
thirded
Saint Jilli.. has a ring to it .. doesn't it?
Ack! I don't really want to be an early cluer but I was asked for help!
Lovely! Let's make a rule that only she can clue the first hour!
Yes!!
A ring like a halo or a bathtub one?
Since they love rules so much!!!
(adjusts jilli's wings)
this is getting embarrassing
jilli, we just showing luv!
Saint Jilibus of Babble! Sounds like a book title!
And much appreciated, mrp xx
feel better now jilli?
lets all have a group hug...I agree...I hate it when some make another feel bad or as if they did something wrong that is not nice...not nice at all...sprinkling opalescent fairy dust on jilli's wings...watching glistening...
Yes, ruru <blush>
((((jilli))))
too bad I wasn't there.. I would have jumped in..

i don't see no global warming in my neck of the woods

Goats Eye Mountain??? where is that, pray tell?
Somewhere in Alberta
Come to So.Cal - very temperate - no need for heater or A/C
oy they've been in a deep deep freeze for several (many ) days now the poor slobs

I was flunged by a resort employee ...ergo...the picked up the whole medical bill, plus a "mini" settlement

don't know which is better or worse....can't imagine boxing up and moving....been too many years since that happened
probs half way bet London & the coast
LOL dc! the first 3 were within 10 miles of each other then we moved half way round the world!
well I sure hope you'll be happy and at peace in your new home, Lindy
thanks (((Just)))) I am happy to be where my hubby is! Sad eh!
why sad??? and like weren't you together in TO?
not sad at all. Speaks well of yalls relationship, to me
Yeah, we together in Toronto, I just don't mind where I am as long as we are together
it was just time for a new adventure! (0:
awww that's sweet
LOL
while you were here (in Canada) did you ever travel this country??
like Montreal? Vancouver? Thunder Bay? lol
only to Ottawa, Montreal & Quebec City, twice!
aww wish I knew when you were here
oh and Niagara of course, about 2000 times!
lol tacky city
not enough holiday time in Canada to do too much!
yeah but the falls are beautiful
a very poor relation (like trailer trash) to Vegas
Yeah that they are!
and the views from ON far superior to those from NY
I will be back Just, will let you know when I visit
yes dc, very lucky for me looking from the On side! (0:

brb
http://tinyurl.com/y9esycy try that one
the photo there shows marshmallow peeps, in their bunny form.
lol if it is in Canada it would be in the Toronto area...(NYC wannabe) but doubting it'll ever be here
google for Lord of the Peeps sometime
its LOTR told with peeps
and the cat says it's bedtime, and i think i agree.
nite dc tc
plus, many dishes to wash tomorrow as the dishwasher broke.
so, good night, and happy babbling
{poof}
hello, anyone, here?
hello grannyrose
hi ursh, thought i might be talking to the wall again. how are things with you?
All good tx granny - just raining again - we have had non-stop drizzle for weeks now and you?
is rain good or bad for you? wouldbe great over here. me...i think i'm dying. have a chest cold and cough...have had the vax for H1N1.
my skin hurts......haven't had a cold in ever so long
It is summer here and we should be steamy hot so I suppose rain is good - sorry about the cold - you make me smile - my kids used to complain about sore skin when they were little and sick
* smiling back at you * one gets so used to being well, that we forget what it feels like to be sick..
well be grateful you are not a man cos as you know their colds make them much much sicker
we put up our christmas tr4 today, mother mac who is 90 years old, bless her, loves to help.
does she live with you? my mom also almost 90 lives with us - but very active - still drives and shops and does housework
don't i know that!!!! take a guess where i got this little treasure from.
yes, ursh, she does. she's legally blind, deaf, plus heaps of other things, but she STILL has a better social life than i do!!!!!!
your mom or mom in law?
my mother-in-law, couldn't live with my mother, not again, ever.
my hubby is blessed. he has the only wife in existence who agrees that HIS mother-in-law is a right royal pain.
hmmm sometimes quite difficult - she still treats me like a child (59yr old child) and often gives me strict instructions on how to run my home - pray for patience regularly - but love her dearly
LOL, it's a pity we can't just buy a kilo of patience along with the milk and bread.without exaggeration, truely, my mother would drive st. peter nuts.
she will probably stand at the pearly gates and tell him how to polish them.
LOLOL
ursh, will pray for you and yours, hope you have a good day/night. having take-away ( hamburgers ) as neither of us can face cooking dinner.see you at the flip
bye granny enjoy it is midday here (sat)
* poof *

I'm retired .I was a chef for many years.
how about you?
that is neat
I am not retired
I am a geriatrician
I see by your profile you like to cook. Have you ever gone on Allrecipes.com? It's a fun site and the community is great. check it out.
I have seen it, I use epicurious quite a bit
and I am a cooks illustrated fan
same here
I am going to friends' house at 0930 to make breakfast, thus why I have time right now...woke up too early
so you take care of elderly people?
yes, though I am at a teaching hospital, so when on the wards, I take care of all comers (adults only)
It must be very rewarding
i like it
one more to 50, then I go get more breakfast and a couple clementines
oops, meant more coffee

The food is so far good if not spectacular .. but there's lots of it ..
ok, I am def slowing down now
there's a machine I can't get to work right yet because I think it's not the right machine for the job
Good morning, friends!
moning merk
Hello all
At first glance, I wonder how 174 words can be in this grid, but I have felt that before.
seed
hi merk
oops
a challenge can be fun tor...
hi lynxx
to the penalty box first thing in the morning and with no coffee made ....
blue has coffee!
Definitely but if it don't work, it don't damn work ..

lol
how about some croissants?
the butter is melting now
home made croissant???? H-YES!!!
All these 't' and 'r' but no terror. Is that my phantom?
whoo hoo!!
Oh please Heron, send them, ty.
kje could you do me a huge favor please?
sure, tor
you will have to come for breakfast.
Babble works from China, but not Lickety's list. I think it's because of the word lists he attaches. That's the only thing I can think of ... the words trigger their censors. Isn't that a hoot?
wild, merk
Please email the addy in my profile and put "From your dad in China" in the subject, and tell her I made it okay and I'll try to find some way to get in touch. Thank you!
OK, will do
Do you have the address? I'm going to delete it.
just did it tor, sent
Thank you SSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOO Much!
are they censoring your email?
I don't care what ruru says about you behind your back. You're a sweetie!
Can I come out of the p.b. now? How long does one have to sit in here for a simple, unintentional offense?
LOLOL tor!!!
merk - come out!!!
please come out
I just can't get to hotmail or facebook to send her a message
I had heard they blocked FB after the whole iran thing
Tor, I've been pouting in the p.b. and missed the chat. Where are you?
Qingdao
Soory to run, but I'm pooped .. Thanks kje! and see you all later ..
bye Tor
bye tor
sleep well, tor, and stay safe
How long are you going to be in Qingdao ... or has she left?
he left
I think he said another week
Morning all. I drank the koolaid--now how do I get an icon?
hi jay! welcome to babble, you have to go pro to get an icon, and to see the tile stats after the first 2 weeks
morning jayk
I think it is around 10 dollars or so for life
kje--going pro is what i meant by drinking the koolaid
oh, you already went pro? go to the "my account" link above the chog and upload a pic
Ah! I don't know how to do that. don't have digital camera
jay - you can upload any pic off your computer, or any pic off the web
there are icon themes some follow, and they change their pics daily using stuff on the web
All right then!! Thanks kje
I do not own a digital camera either (except my phone)
Morning all! I can't believe I'm actually up to go to a class at 8 AM (Who schedules classes at 8 AM Saturday anyway?)
good for you, nef
hi Nef
I have been up 2 hours already
Jayk, I picked this icon and have stuck with it since I joined back in 2005. I'm not good at figuring out how to change things; and I always think that this looks like me anyway. :-)
lol nef
i'm sure it's you, exactly! terrific salon you go to!
I don't mind being up, kje, it's the fact someone would schedule a class at 8 AM on a Saturday that amazes me!
BTW, jayk; welcome aboard! It's always fun to have new meat here! ;-)
i would run from anyone who refers to me as their next meal, jayk
OK, I haven't budged in a long time, time to list
bbl ... bundled up for my early morning walk.
have fun merk
10 degrees, dressed like an Eskimo ... fun!
How many words today?
and watch out for slick spots!
kje, admit it. we ALL love newbies! :-D
some i do, some i do less ; )
good morning, babblers from the arctic zone in nj - just went out for the morning paper - BRRR!
stumped at 32, will list in the morning. Goodnight all
gn lynxx
that is exactly where i listed too lynnxx, weird
PS hi Godthaab - 174
LOL! That's true! (I'm trying to dress, eat breakfast, and work up enough courage to go out and start my car to go to class. It's 6 degrees here! BRRRR!)
hiya jbv
hi, kje - haven't been chatting much lately - how's things
hi JBV, How cold is it there?
nef, what class are you taking if I may ask?
good, just very busy
don't know nef, don't have the radio or TV on, but last night the wind chills were down in the teens
5 left, all D, interesting
me too, kje
It's on adoptions; current rules, issues etc. DH and I aren't adopting; I run a prenatal program in a pregnancy center
uno
GO,kje!
just checked the weather report, it says 27 degrees, but feels colder
done
oh, thanks, nef
my last one was a d4 and odd
so i will give you a clue - the 2 da are anagrams
i have a class today, but it's at a much more humane hour - 11:30 -
yay, kje!
YAY,kje! WTG!!!!!
my team is on call, so I will be up late
that's a morse code word
and now I must go rid myself of some of this coffee... bbias to clue
the anagram is a morse code word?
Well, have a quiet call day,kje
yes, kje , dits and da**
I've got 5 more minutes before I leave.
interesting, new one for me
my son was a boy scout, you pick up these bits of knowledge with the merit badges
0700 here and pitch black outside
did we lose the sun overnight?
do you have a storm coming kje?
nope, it's usually this dark outside this month
yes
yes to the storm
it has blocked my sun
there is usually at least some glimmer of light at this hour
nef did you get a lot of snow?
Oh, you're in Texas! I guess you do have some sunlight at this time of day! Here in MN it's dark til almost 8AM in Dec.
no, just 6-8 inches with that storm. we didn't have any before Tuesday
here civil sunrise is 0653 today, actual is 0720 though, nautical is 0622
and yes, I just happen to know all that
LOLOL
not
we run an after-school program, bus picks kids up at 4:15, for the first time this year, we have parents saying it's too dark, they want their children home earlier - most are new immigrants from sunny Latin America
why is nautical so early? (living in MN I've never heard that before)
astronomical is even earler 0552
I have no idea what those mean, but I guess now I am forced to look
LOL! That's okay. I need to leave soon, so if you aren't curious, you don't have to bother
Astronomical twilight is the time when the center of the sun is between 12° and 18° below the horizon. In general, the end of astronomical twilight is the point where the sky no longer illuminated by the sun and is dark enough for all astronomical observations
Nautical twilight is the time when the center of the sun is between 6° and 12° below the horizon. In general, nautical twilight is the point where navigation via the horizon at sea is no longer possible.
Nautical twilight has military considerations as well. The initialisms BMNT (begin morning nautical twilight) and EENT (end evening nautical twilight) are used and considered when planning military operations. A military unit may treat BMNT and EENT with heightened security (i.e. a process called "stand to" in which everyone pulls security). This is partially due to tactics dating back to the French and Indian War, when combatants on both sides would use BMNT and EENT to launch attacks.
this is very interesting kje - makes sense to a landlubber
Morning civil twilight begins when the geometric center of the sun is 6° below the horizon (the point of civil dawn), and ends at sunrise. Evening civil twilight begins at sunset and ends when the center of the sun reaches 6° below the horizon (the point of civil dusk). In general, civil twilight is the point where artificial illumination is required to read outside.[2] The brightest stars appear during the civil twilight, as well as planets, such as Venus, which is known as the 'morning star' and/or 'evening star'. During this period there is enough light from the sun that artificial sources of light may not be needed to carry on outdoor activities. This concept is sometimes enshrined in laws, for example, when drivers of automobiles must turn on their headlights, when pilots may exercise the rights to fly aircraft, or if the crime of burglary is to be treated as nighttime burglary, which carries stiffer penalties in some jurisdictions
that is my learning for the day ; )
have meant to look it up for awhile
Very interesting! (Checking clock; I can stay a LEETLE Longer!)
nef is a true addict
i'm not crazy about the definition of twilight as the point where ights are required to read -doesn't seem very scientific -
*lights*
there's probably a lot of individual variation in how much people can see at night - I myself have been known to continue reading in virtual darkness :)
define science, it is absolutely science
Ooh, ooohh, science class. *sit upright, turns ears on, puts thinking cap on**
reproducible and able to be observed
very true, JBV, but as we age, we need light earlier and earlier.
good morning friends! thanks so much for that excellent info, kje! I think it is so interesting that the stars are brightest during civil twilight, as it sounds like the sun is still providing some illumination then....weird
that's what i mean, nef, and kje - it's observable that people vary in their ability to see at night
Hello from Snow Central! We got 20 inches here since Thursday. Some areas got more, some less.
good lawd, scrabbler! bundle up!
but i bet you could easily prove that the vast majority do not differ by much
wow, scrabs! that's a lot of snow - just getting out of the house is a chore
Out here in the country, a starlit sky is amazing. It puts me in awe.
I heard people were stranded in their cars on the NY Thruway
mount little plows on the bunnies and get them out there working for you - about time they earned their timothy hay
Yes, over 100 cars/trucks/busses.
My driveway was plowed out once Thursday and twice yesterday.
scrabs, i grew up in the city and the first time I really saw stars was in Ithaca NY visiting a friend at school
so pretty, yet so dangerous
I have the nicest neighbors; they plowed out my drive while I was at work on Wednesday.
tertiare and I went out for a short walk last night, and I was remarking to her how much darker the sky was when I was a child....i remember looking up in to the night sky behind my mom's, and you could see swirly stuff in between the stars, as well as the stars, and it was so inky black. now there are so many lit parking lots, house floods, etc. in our more-built-up ar4 that the stars are much harder to see. bummer
the pics of teh various twilights are quite pretty if you are interested...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astronomi cal_twilight#Astronomical_twilight
I walk to the end of my driveway and observe the sky..and feel so insignificant in the universe.
NOW it's time to go! BYE all! Happy Babbling!
bye nef, hagd
Bye nef
thanks, kje - beautiful photos
oh, those photos are quite pretty!
we are nigh in to the time of year when we get maybe nine hours of daylight. it's a downer....
for campers and hikers it's still possible to see those sights, I've seen it in New Mexico - but unfortunately it's a very rare occurrence for us now
Fascinating Wiki entry. How did the discussion come up?
b/c i noted it was 0700 here and pitch black out which is unusual
kje was saying it was still dark at 7:00 a.m., and we took it from there
someone mentioned it should be, but I looked up sunrise/twighlight times and say it usually starts to show some light around 0653 this time of year
which then led to all the different times
I see. Yep, I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark. Yucky time of year.
weather underground lists all the choices if you look at the time of sunrise for your area
and I am assuming I just lost you all to weatherunderground - LOLOL
Back above ground now!
as i suspected
do I know my babblers or what? ; )
I am still here - just lost in the grid!
go trif! it is a fun one
Sunrise today, here, = 0737
i must run, have a great day all, and stay warm wherever you are
humpf! no "phaser" in the enable dictionary! star trek fan is NOT amused!
bye kje
Bye kje
But ph5 is, so off to the pb for you, Trif. Haha
And TY for the clue
and a different ph6. hi all
Hi Kanet--still addicted, I see.
I thought doing that was okay, as long as the ending was different...oh well - off to the pb for moi.
what else will i do? ; )
And tr4 is in the grid too.
Toss out some goodies for breakfast, Trif
good morning you fine people!
Hi Nonnie!
hiya scrabs!
well kanet, back again
you have fallen under the influence
Hi Queen Jean.
good point about the dict, though, trif
morning nonnie & jean
gm doc
The Enable Dictionary needs a new edition.
hello kanet and jean!
gm nonnie
can you download the enable dict?
Probably, Kanet
I still say Humpf. I suppose Pon Farr won't be acceptable either, then?
hello everyone!
Pon Farr?
gm annie
GM Annie of Brooklyn!
hello annie :o)
Hi annie
Hi Scrabbs, kanet
trif: haha
hi nonnie
it is a sort of vulcan adolescence, scrabbler - hey, maybe you could tell the parents of teens that they have entered their "pon farr" ph5 - some would find that hilarious!
and hi, Nonnie, kanet
thank you for the validation, there, kanet - we are now best babble friends!
My nephew is driving to NYC now with his GF. Their semesters have ended and they will see our Buffalo Sabres vs Rangers at MSG tonight, and see the city til Tuesday.
hello jbv!
yay for star trek!
Scrabbs, It is a great time to be in NYC.
I am a Star Wars fan but never got hooked on Star Tr4
Hi Hurshy!
okay, this is how lame I am, scrabbler - it took me a full MINUTE to figure out MSG - I was all Chinese food? What? oh....
gotta get out more tri
Well, it does have multiple meanings.
oh carp - I have to go to the PB again....tr4....damn
PREACH esprit!
Trif is after the Lindt chocolate in the PB
My nephew is 21 and his GF is 18 and I hope they manage OK in NYC without adult supervision.
scrabb, I keep meaning to tell you, I got a book named "the unhealthy truth" out of the library, and it is really, really unsettling - all about the link between the US food supply and the explosive rates of childhood allergies. It's enough to make you swear off food in it's entirety
Where will they be staying,
have to stop here - back later for 48 more - getting ready for my chinese class - (haven't done my homework yet!)
I used to take the bus into nyc when I was 12, shudder at the thought now
hi hursh. trif, have you read fast food nation?
bye bye jbv
I will look that up, Trif. Increase in childhood allergies is something I have witnessed in 21 yrs of practicing pediatrics.
hmmm can't remember - wasn't it a documentary also? Or maybe I am thinking of Super Size Me?
Bye JBV
its a fascinating book, scrabbler - very, very interesting.
yeah, super size me was a documentary around the same time. i think they made a fast food nation movie, but i didn't see it. the book is illuminatin
Annie, they are driving to East Rutherford, NJ, then will take trains into NYC. My nephew is a typical, clueless adolescent male.
That makes me even more relieved to be vegetarian. I am thinking of going vegan.
i thought the over-avoidance of germs by over-protective parents was what was increasing allergies
could be multiple factors
That can increase infections, Hursh.
Scrabbs. They will be fine..dont worry. Suggest the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Museum of Natural History and visit the Planetarium is great fun.
so what about the food increases allergies?
i just read it. young immune systems not learning properly, not only the infections but also the allergies
morning, all! Everyone all bundled up? :-)
turns out there are a LOT of spurious connections between the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxsis Network (FAAN) and Monsanto. Jesus.
Annie, I will text him often.
hello une and yes!
Hi Une
Scrabbs, Good idea.
hurshy, you actually have less to worry about than we do here. The US has ridiculously lax standards on food compared to the rest of the world
It is hard to figure out, food allergies in kids, because SO many kids are tossed into day care starting at age 8 wks and day cares are germ factories.
Hurshy = USA with UK flag
a lot of the problems come from genetically modified food - for example, to modify soy beans, they put in a DNA strand from a peanut, and vice versa - the kids who were given soy formula as kids are something like 9 times more likely to be allergic to peanuts. stuff like that.
wow, trif, hadn't heard that . . .
whoops, sorry hurshy - guess you are in danger like us sorry yanks, then. :(
Yes, that is a known issue. So many parents switch formulas on their infants due to gassiness, fussiness, and soy formulas are very popular now. Of course the babies remain gassy + fussy because young infants are like that.
monsanto invented round up, and then invented a type of soy bean that can't be killed by round up - and we eat it.
I wonder what untainted food really tastes like!
nonnie, we have some local farmers who are organic -- food is deelish!
Hi very briefly folks.
organic farming, not organic farmers LOL!
the problem I am finding is that trying to eat only organic foods is likely to bankrupt a family of four. At least I have made a major effort to reduce the amount of pre-packed or prepared foods I am serving here - making it from scratch is ALWAYS the best idea - then you control what you are buying
hello monkey
hey, monkey!
lol une
Hi MG! How is young Walter doing? Are we now 2 -3 wks post-injury?
hi monkey
I would love to find a delish organic farmer, lol!
also, we here in the states have a less stringent food ingredients labeling policy than almost half of the countries in Africa - AFRICA people!
:-D
3 1/2, Scrabbs! He has vastly less pain, but we're getting into the aching phase so he did need a Tylenol at bedtoime last night. Getting stir crazy. If he can get to the bathroom with minimal help he can start school again Tursday. Monday, new x-rays, new info. No more nightmares.
TuEsday.
anyway, I will get off my hemp covered soap box now. the book is called The Unhealthy Truth, by Robyn O'Brien, and I highly recommend it. I got it from my library, so it's doesn't have to be a purchase
gtg. later gators
Bye Kanet
good news, monkey games!!! I am sure he will love to get back to school
We're now very worried about the neighbor girl. Bad times all round.
Just having his entire leg in a cast, immobile, with cramping, shortening, shrinking muscles is uncomfortable, MG
yes, MG, I saw that on FB - how is she doing? made it through the night anyway, I guess - poor little mite
The girl with pneumonia? How is she?
Supposedly our local Wally-world is purchasing more locally grown produce. I was hoping that would bring in more organic (and not at break the bank prices) fruits and veggies. I haven't seen any indication this is happening...yet.
do you have a stop and shop near you nonnie? their in house organic line is very affordable, and good quality
No trif...we r
Now that I am practicing here in the country I am getting to know the farming families. They are a hardy group of people that have my admiration.
Yes, Scrabbs, we understand this is NOT a nice situation, but at least there is NO... that's right, NO... itching! Neighbor girl: we don't know yet. She should be going into surgery around now. Been looking it up, and I read they'll probably have to take out a lobe of her lung; her dad told me the abscess is "big". They're still giving a good prognosis guess though.
oops...no trif we're in Arkansas where frying your own cracklins is considered "organic". (rolling eyes)
now I want some pork rinds.....
Probably Staph aureus pneumonia--that causes abscesses, pleural effusions, empyemas--pus in and around lung.
nonnie LOL!
haven't been here for a long time. Forgot the settings. Do one have to be a Pro user to see how many words there are in total?
*puking at thought of pork rinds*
BUT---there is a small farm up the road a bit that does do all organic farming and I've gone there a time or two but very expensive.
Hi Shero. Yes, you lose stats 14 days after joining.
Nonnie, progress IS possible -- at least my local grocery checkout people have stopped calling me the bag lady 'cause I always use canvas bags! LOL
Yeah, poor kid. The doctors said it's probably been growing sneakily for weeks. In other news... Today is my grandfather's wake. Not such a happy day here for me.
yes, shero...today's grid is 174
I too would like some pork rinds. Hey, why don't they make lamb rinds? Lamd is the yummiest animal fat!
yes, costs can be prohibitive at organic markets . . .
lol une
Which GF? Sam died several months ago.
Sorry to hear, Monkey. ((hugs))
thank you NonnieLight :o)
You're welcome shero
I was given a huge, strong canvas "Simply Green" bag by my Secret Santa at the office.
Yes, he died in September. My aunt had trouble organizing the wake for a time when everyone could be there. We were supposed to fly out Wednesday. Big tribute, lots of folk singers, friends and family, I was goin to get to help scatter the ashes and have some closure, but no, I can't go because y little boy was hit by a car. Sigh. Sucky weekend.
I was actually just kidding - don't really consume stuff like that anymore....
Nice Secret Santa!
Thanks Nonnie.
a friend of mine has 700 canvas bags left over from a church children's leadership event and is giving me as many as I want to distribute at the soup kitchen I work with -- very cool, esp. at Xmas!
we'll be giving out around 200 next week!
oh, that IS cool, une! my church gave out a bunch to remind people to shop for the local food pantry.
you can write the list of food panty top ten items right on the side of the bags and all....its a great reminder
used to work with a church used clothing "pantry" -- at Xmas we'd give out canvas bags filled with socks, gloves, etc. (new as well as used, donated)
Anyway, I'd betetr go. Walter wants to practice with the crutches, then we need to go buy food for the weekend. Have fun Babbling, everyone! I might be in and out later, but should buckle down on all the translating work I need to get done.
my motto is alway, ask me before you toss it!!
best wishes to you and Walter, monkey :-)
I love hearing things like this so much une! this time of year, it is impossible NOT to believe in Santa, or at least a loving spirit of christmas that takes hold of us all, and makes us more giving
*always
trif, i told you about my new "relationship" with our local Whole Foods, right?
they're giving me all bakery products left over at the end of the day (for our soup kitchen)
okay - chuckling - primo is in the bathroom, and there is much going on in there - showering, blow drying, teeth brushing, etc. -- and on a saturday too! I predict a girl should be arriving soon....lol!
Thursday nite I had 4 grocery carts FULL!
yes, you did mention that, une - what a blessing!!!
I would consume all the leftover choc croissant, I fear!
speaking of soup kitchen, we have a board mtg this morning and must get going -- later! *poof*
I bet your car smelled like HEAVEN
it did, trif, and FYI I DID take a couple of items for my mom's caregivers :-)
ok, gotta get goin' . . . byeeee!
found a nice gift for the wife,it is the biggest tin of quality street chocolates and candies that i have ever seen in my life;)) and a nice thick spa type terry bath robe;0
this is how it would go if I were doing that run, I fear - soup kitchen gets more quality bread products, trifioso "somehow" gains 15 pounds a week driving back and forth
well done crossy! havent' seen quality street chocs here ever, I am afraid
they are generally quite scarce here as well, but the local market had a display of them pop up
tins about the same size and shape as a stop sign:)
Hi Crossy
howdy scrabbs
wow!
well not quite,but almost
no wonder there aren't any in the US- crossy bought them all!
actually trif, this is my first time seeing them in any size other that the small sample boxes
They are so common and cheap over here a kilo tin was on special in our supermarkets at £5
Hi Kitt
thats what they do i bet, spend 20 years doing nothing but sample boxes just to get everyone going lol
now I am seriously getting hungry. not really back on solid food as yet....slowly getting up to speed there....but I think I am going to have to have some applesauce or something soon
howdy katie
Hiya scrabble & crossy
ill make you a breakfast smoothie with lots of fresh fruit trif;0..and bacon for later
lol katie mine is a 2.1 kilo tin and cost $25.99
oh hey - funny story - our friend in Ireland had a baby recently, and her husband sent out a text announcing arrival....and then susannah was getting all sorts of strange emails and phone messages with offers of help on her "recovery" and "hope she was in good shape" etc...turns out her hubs sent out text saying babied weighed 8 KILOS not 8 POUNDS. subtle difference....
wow that is a big tin crossy. most of our sweets come in kilo tins, we have quality street, roses and celebration in for Christmas
lol@ 8 kilo baby
my dad was 14 pounds 1 oz..poor grammy
eyes watering at the thought
I know, right?
OMG crossy
oof crossy! your dad landed with a thump all right!
did she ever forgive him?
was biggest baby for the time pperiod
nope,she never did
and she is a typical welsh woman at that time,4 feet 2 inches and full of fire lol
omg - that is brutal! and I am sure no epidural was available....
A salty old navy diver that I used to know said his son was 14 pounds and came out smoking a stogie! The stogie part not true of course but I laughed and laughed at that visual.
i dont know what they did,did they have c-sections back then?
hmmm. ether, that I know. my grandmother used it to deliver my mom
Good morning crossy!
cause birthing that would be like birthing a watermellon
nonnie!!!
Biggest newborn that I ever personally saw = 13 lb 3 oz.
is he an only child, or at least her youngest?
Yes, c-sections have been around for a long time.
there are named for Caesar, who was supposed to have been born that way
her youngest
*they*
and last for some strange reason
yes, that would put one right off having another child, i would say!
I would have stopped after that!!
good morning all
morning edward!
Good morning Edward!
morning
wonder if she took him to the fall fair for a ribbon?:))
howdy edward
I did hear that the Duggan woman had to be rushed to hospital the other day to deliver her 18th child by C section - take the hint, ma'am!
dont get me started of people who want fame and fortune just for being stupid enough to have litters
pretty sure she had her 19th baby
18 *faints*
Well...I have to get a move on here. Turkey to roast, pecan pie bars to bake and the Church Christmas party tonight! I hope everyone has a wonderful day and I'll see everyone later, I hope.
oh, she says she is doing it for god, crossy - she had a miscarriage early on, apparently, and after that promised god she would never refuse any baby he sent her.
bye nonnie
uh huh
bye nonnie - sounds wonderful, enjoy your feast!
de
she could stop God sending them!
tc nonnie
I can't help but wonder - when are they making these kids? I only have three, and I have to schedule a shower for myself....
LOL @ Trif
they have a full staff trif
lol trif, i have 2 an i gotta do that
ONE of them has a "full staff" I would say! (((naughty!)))
if i were him actually id ask for a stand in lol!
My friend called. She will be here in 70 minutes and we are going snowshoeing with our new snowshoes!
Haha, Trif!
I'd better go too although I'm going to the grayhound racing which isn't quite as fulsome as the church christmas dinner lol x
i have lots of snow here scrabbs common over
side note before I go...we don't see ALL the stuff that actually goes on with they televised families. my personal opinion is whether it is one child or twenty--having the public into your home to watch you is NOT normal!
and i have fresh hot chocolate
amen, nonnie, amen
well said nonnie
see jon and kate on that thought and they will agree
ok that said, I have to go...(poof)
jon & kate?
So, not to pick any side, but who is to blame? The families who allow themselves to be filmed, the TV companies for approaching them with the idea, or the viewers who watch and make it a commercial enterprise?
the tv family with 8 kids
the ones using the kids now as a divorce tool
everyone Haz
id say the blame can be spread around haz
I think we've been spared Jon and Kate on this side of the pond.
So FM gets off taking the blame?
Oh I don't want reality shows like that and it hasn't made it's way over here
fm???
That's her Christmas bonus - she is not responsible for US reality shows.
I don't think we said that Haz, FM can always be blamed lol
what did she do?
FMitch, crosshair, it has long been decreed in babble that she's to blame for everything.
we used to have a running joke that anything that went wrong was her fault lol
ahh ok,so im off the hook?
For the moment, crossy, but just watch your step!
dont i always?
especially now the wife is a babbler
Oh welcome mrs crossy :-)
I know! Is she enjoying the game?
Crossy we got 20 inches of snow since Thursday.
she is getting the hang of it
same here scrabbs,24 inches
Right I really need to go and put on my 15 layers for a night out drinking nasty wine and a freezing cold dog track (can you tell how much I am looking forward to tonight?) See you all tomorrow x
Reading back about the Quality street tin, my father used to buy one for my mother every year at Christmas. It was a running joke that it was a surprise, so much so that he always made lots of noise while storing it in the attic. I loved when the tins were full and colourful, I used to make patterns on the top of the tin.
bring a wine skin of cherry whiskey and youll be fine katie
Then as the stocks got depleted, the patterns got less exuberant.
like i say, they are a rare breed here haz and highly cherished
Mari always had to have the green triangle ones, only got to eat them after I moved out and bought my own lol
Bye Katie!
*poof* scuffing feet and muttering about the cold
I still love the pink fudge ones, although they've changed the shape and the packaging.
hi, all
this one is a lovely octagon tin with 2.1 kilo in weight
You must let us know how long it lasts, cross.
Hello, Angelsong.
that and the terry robe and im good to go,buy them chocolate and something to keep them warm
You've got women sussed.
crosshair to the PB! Hello, all.
as long as it make, retains or throws heat haz
Hello, VIcuna!
wife says im impossible to shop for;))
Hello, hello.
Men are okay to buy for if they are clean-shaven, whiskey drinking, jumper wearing golfers.
I my, will you look at that: there's an -est in here. *typing busily*
lol i have a beard, dont golf and my poison is vodka
It seems to be a more civilised grid than yesterday, so far, at least.
Well, there you go, crossy, no wonder you're a nightmare to buy for.
yes,a ton of words in the bottom left quadrant
But you like anything bacon-themed. SO that's something to work with.
yes,but its not like im ever short on bacon hehe
But his wife is making him cut down on the bacon. I call that foolish, she could have gifted him a year's supply.
actually im taking a break from it at the moment as i destroyed myself with a special applewood smoked bacon the other day;)
was i ever in dutch!!
I like applewood cheese.
re
cause im only soped to have 4 slices a week;))
supposed
If you were soaping youself with 4 slices a week that would be a bit obsessive.
lol indeed vic
Alright kids, at 90/84 I must eat a hearty breakfast and get ready for snowshoe trekking in the woods! My friend will be here in 50 minutes!
Enjoy breakfast, Scrabbler.
Have fun, Scrabbler!
i mean what is that ? 4 measly slices? that like saying you ladies can only have a single chockolate a week
tc scrabbs
Whoever made up the saying 'Less is more' clearly didn't consider the bacon question.
indeed,i mean how can i possibly do proper fry ups that way?
lol
Morning/afternoon all
It's a conspiracy. Does Mohammed Al Fayed live anywhere near you? He loves conspiracy theories.
need that ich of bacon grease to do my magic;))
Hello, FM!
(((FM)))
Hello, FM!
inch even
Hey Haz, Vi and crossy hugs to all.
I'm pleased to say that this grid is civilised, FM.
first part of this grid is nice and friendly;)
Suns been shining today *yay* HAven't had a chance to start it yet HAz but that is good to know.
It's a cheerful grid, but a little overexuberant in the matter of t', r's, and e's.
We have sunshine as well, although it's getting colder.
Was thinking about Ata as I haven't heard from her since Monday but the mobile phone reception is hellish when she is at c's
minus 4 c here today but also sunny
No, I've heard nothing either, a bit worrying when you consider what might be going on.
Thought of you today crossy when at the supermarket buying littke itny sausages wrapped in bacon.
mmmm bacon saussages
lol
actually i have a recipie on the computer now for bacon muffins;)
CRISPY BACON MUFFINS (MAKES 12) INGREDIENTS: 250g/9oz rindless, smoked streaky bacon 7 tblesp. sunflower oil 1 onion, finely chopped 280g/10oz plain flour 1 tblesp. baking powder Pinch of salt Freshly ground black pepper 2 eggs 250ml/9 fl.oz buttermilk METHOD: Preheat oven to 200C/400F/Gas Mark 6. Line a 12-hole muffin tin with 12 paper cases. Chop the bacon, reserving 3 rashers to garnish. Cut each of the reserved rashers into 4 pieces and set aside. Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a frying pan. Add the onion and cook for 2 mins. Add the chopped bacon and cook for 5 mins, stirring occasionally, until crispy. Leave to cool. Meanwhile, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and pepper to taste into a large bowl. Place the egg in a large jug or bowl and beat lightly, then beat in the buttermilk and remaining oil. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients, pour in the beaten liquid ingredients and add the bacon mixture. Stir gently until just combined; do not overmix. Spoon the mixture into the paper cases. Place one of the reserved pieces of bacon on top of each muffin. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 mins, or until well risen, golden brown and firm to the touch. Leave to cool in the tin for 5 mins, then serve warm.
bacon muffins? Trust you!
delish
yum!
Sounds good. And good for you. Heh.
i need to change my icon (sigh)
Hello, jmc.
Oh sounds great, I can just imagine the brunch they would be part of.
hi all brb with new icon
Hi jmc
Hello, jmc.
i'm trying to make "mini-earths" for the work bake off
the gas mark 6 tells you one of my euro babble friends passed it to me
i'm using a russian tea cookie (dyed bblue) but having problems with the molten center
back. Crossy, primo and I are going to try those biscuits tomorrow. They sound SO good!
im doing them today:))
ideas? anyone? i wanted to do a chocolate molten center but hard to get non-brownie to bake with the cookie
they are of course a breakfast muffin
and Im getting hungry with all this food talk :)
Not a baking expert Shirl sorry.
shirlock, do you have access to girl scout thin mints, by any chance?
sorry shirl -- maybe cookie dough around a lindt ball?
ould after 8 dinner mints do as well
no, i thought about putting a chocolate chip i middle
would
problem is i want it like molten lava cake melting in middle but "hard" on the outside
i changed my icon to the Hanukkah theme
my sister has an AMAZING recipe for sugar cookies with a thin mint in the middle - apparently the sugar cookie bakes around the mint cookie, which melts, and forms a gooey center
*drool*
sounds tasty trif
*hands FM a hankie*
Morning all!
:)
that sounds good trif but i need a round ball shape, which i can get with the russian tea cookie
Good morning, car.
crossy slowly backs away as the chocolate frenzy begins....
hi car
I would NOT be the sister who has that recipe.
hey sister! just speaking of the other coven member -- your senses must have been tingling
Hi car
snap!
o well, more experimenting (read sampling)
no stay with me crossy I not that big of a fan of chocolate and don't want to be alone here!
oh dear. my tea taste disgusting. Not as recovered as I hoped, I guess....
lol jmc
Don't get me started on baking...burned the edges on 6 mini-loaves of pumpkin bread last night, and made 2 1/2 dozen incorrectly made cookies.....
what kind of tea, dear
*pelts jmc with chocolate*
I love the idea of chocolate and sweet things but very rarely eat them, prob cos I overdose in babbleland.
i did a bunch of gingerbread cookies yesterday..mmmm
I am half way through my bourbon balls
wild berry zinger, I think
*picks up chocolate to say for rewards later*
crossys head snaps around at the thought of bourbon balls...
are you stuffy or your tummy wonky?
*laughs at crossy with his head on backwards*
Trif...are you tuned in to ABC Family this morning?
primo just told me girl #2 is coming over soon - did I call that or WHAT!?
puts your head on properly crossy they won't be ready until later
LOL Vi I was just going to say that!
Huh? Fill me in!
apparently they are going to have to walk somewhere, because girl #2 can't ride a bike. What 16 year old can't ride a bike? geesh
re 7,32 please
Trif, you should set up a wee booth and charge people to tell them what's about to happen.
Of course, FM, because you (like me) are a woman of rare humor, wit, and brilliance.
16 year olds that were never taught
hi team
Put new bottoms on your sneakers....
my son was late with a bike as well trif, took him till 12
OK my break time is over, TTFN will be back later.
re7/32 - describes a recycled rubber car wheel thing.
No biggie, car - primo was up early, took a long shower, shaved, brushed teeth, the whole deal - and on a saturday! I predicted this meant a girl would be arriving.
hi jmc, how are you today?
re7 put new rubber on your tire
bye FM
LOL Vi of course!!!
i am okay I slept in a bit
thanks haz
(Our humor, wit, and brilliance are quite rare.)
ty gramma
You're welcome.
ty haz
I don't have to set up a fortune booth, Haz -- I GOT A JOB!!! Can announce it now, finally.....
wish i could been sick for 4 days now grr
Jack Frost is starting! Wheeeeee!!!!!
I am the newest clinician/tutor at the Lindamood Bell Center for Language and Education. It's only part time, but I am really, really happy
*checking the stastistics on humor , wit and brilliance*
Oh well done! When do you begin work?
whoo hoooo TRIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations, Trif!
tuesday.
That's quick!
trif try a lemon ginger tea
you can even make it with lemon juice or lemon drops and dried ginger in your spice rack
thanks jmc....sounds tasty!
can I make it with lemon bacardi?
ginger is good for tummies and lemon is good for colds
sure if you want to sleep all day!!
And if you have a cold tummy.....
good afternoon all
hello sprite!
add a little green tea and you are set for a good day!
Hello, sprite.
lol haz
hi sprite
Hello, sprite.
i am surprise no one comment on my extremely cute icon :-(
I was so proud!
I'm back ... boy do we have enough e tiles? Three sets of double e, throw in four t and four r and it's a wonder we have 174 words.
I was just about to, actually, had just opened it. Makes me smile :)
Sorry JMC! I had not refreshed! It is VERY cute!
hi merk
and the cow jumped over the moon.... also a nice one
:-)
Ah, thank you, sprite.
crossy offers trif some of his fresh ginger cookies for her tummy
am I a day behind?
sigh
listening to adam sandler's Hanukkah song right now....
brb!
Think of it this way, jmc - you're current for 7 more days.
no problem, jmc! It is delightful. Keep it!
Okay, I must be disciplined and put the shopping away. The seventh time every single item is lifted. From the shelf to the trolley, from trolley to conveyor belt, from conveyor belt to bag, in bag back to trolley, from bag to car, from car to house, from house to shelf. Who needs the gym?
sounds healthy but tiring, Haz. Good luck.
You can make youself a recording of one of those excercise people chanting "Three more! Two more!..."
Goodbye, Haz!
geez, haz, never thought of it that way! But really, it's EIGHT - shelf to when you use it
You can tell I just love the whole process, can't you? Trudging off, Spangle is willing but not a great deal of help...
EIGHT!? It's worse than I thought.
damn spangle and her non opposable thumbs!
I know. All she's interested in is the bag with her treats.
Off I go!
Maybe you could get Mr Haz to graft on a prehensile tail or something.
tell her she can have the tr5s when she can open the package and remove one herself!
back
now I am up to date!
haz tidily fled, and thus avoided the PB!
Good use of incentive, Trif.
welcome back!
Now you are officially a lunatic, jmc.
not as cute, but interesting, jmc :)
that is me vic
I would give almost anything to go to outspace
it is no longer as unlikely as it used to be, jmc. Given the right amount of money, of course...
Happy Saturday All
I was locked on the take a word from the grid friday
hi heg0
hello hego
Here for just a mo. Christmas tree calls.
hehehe which was not a take a word from the grid theme this friday, because of the start of hanukkah.
yes, i just figured that out :-(
Does it call, "Get over here and water me you wretched human! And if you don't I'll shed all over your house, so there!"
i am getting y tree tomorrow
you had the most lovely hanukkah icon I have seen, so chins up hun.
lol Vic
but I wont put it up until next saturday because having a movie night party for my staff and one of them is allergic to christmas trees
No, it's fake. It calls, when are you going to decorate? I've been standing here all week!
live tall christmas trees have always been my most frivolous purchase even when I was living on social security I got them
but I console myself by using the bottome branches for my wreath and when it is done cutting off all the branches to protect my azaleas from ice and give them an acid boost
I used to have them for many years and just got lazy.
where is CH1212 she should be getting this all down! lol
This one is pre lit and looks totally real.
I have to have a real one, but I like little ones. We put it up on a little table, and then it's out of the cat's reach... and there's lots of room for gifts beneath!
we rent a Christmas tree
Ah, but they never smell real, hego.
Really?
yes
ack the pb is about to fill up with christmas tr4 lovers!
how can you rent a tr4?
Oh no! You're right, jmc! Off we all go.
okay, 55 left and grid locked. Got to toddle off and do my day. Have a good one all!
ouch, you are right, jmc. Though I am not a lover.
Clue please for the second ha 4,6.
(Wait a minute; I'm safe! I never actually said it!)
mine hits the ceiling or its not enough
A real PB party
nm, just found it
Isn't that always the way it goes.
clever vic
we get a Christmas tr4 from a company that digs them out for you. You are not permitted to frost them or to cut off the top. After Christmas you bring it back and they put it back into the ground. About 93% of their tr4s stays alive that way.
She'll miss the party
*breaks out the party hats*
That is such a great idea, Sprite.
WOW! sprite I wish I could do that I so would!
That's cool, Sprite.
That's nifty, sprite.
it is marvelous. The kids still love to have a tr4 and this way I feel I can let them have it.
But I guess all of you over achievers don't understand Lazy. LOL
not for christmas hego
otherwise i am right with you
You're a good girl jmc, me not so much.
For several years we had a tr4 in a pot that we brought inside for Christmas and then kept outside the rest of the year. But eventually it succumbed.
lol I am so no hego
that is cool too vic
One of our first Christmas tr4 lives still in our garden, lol. It was soooo tiny. It is now about knee high, and strongly rooted. We never had the heart to dig it up again, it was so brave.
But doesn't work with one that touches the ceiling, jmc! lol
but I couldn't imagine doing that by myself before my son got older
oh I see vic, maybe I could have done it
Ah, well got to go. Good day All.
but if my tr4 doesn't touch the ceiling there isn't enough room for the orniments
bye hego
bye hego enjoy decorating the tr4
I think I'll wander off, too. Time to get something useful done, more's the pity. Goodbye, all!
we invite our neighbors over who are a jewish woman and a middle american christian to help decorate the tree
my little dog is in the grid
that way he gets christmas and she doesn't have it in the house
bye Vic, don't overdo it
bye vic
Don't worry, sprite. I never do!
where sprite?
errrr right bottom corner, more or less
crossing over to the left side, of course, he never sits still for long
Bye all, done for Today!!
good job, bye rumple
whoo hoo rumples!
I see sprite
welll I gotta go take my MIL around on errands
:-)
bbl
good luck, jmc.
lol she's okay but I am a little worried about the crowds!
*poof*
oh, lol, it was the errands part I thought would need luck, not the MIL part :)
Gotta go clean things. but first, clue for the ke 6/36?
don't have it yet, but keeping my ears peeled for a clue, is my last K word.
looks like we are on our own, Jayk :(
ohhh found it. It is a compound. A couple of things to open doors with
things to open door and more of them
i know A thing to open doors with--not seeing this "compound" thing
game, *** and match
two shoes make a ...
Finished the 're' words ... whew!
gratz
Thanks Sprite! could NOT see it
lol I know the feeling, Jayk.
Merk-I have 39 to go and almost all of them are res. send me your brain!
Coffee did it for me.
not for me. MUST go. back later
yummm coffee. I'd love a cup.
bye Jayk
crossy passes around some of the costa rican single plantation coffee that his brother gave to me;0
oh mannn that tastes good
its is wild stuff, perk 1 flat tablespoon per 6 oz of water
you can taste the nuances of the companion crop that is grown on the same field
wild stuff. Now that I could use. I am about as wild as a gardenia in the windowsill
you lose that with blended coffee beans
I bet. Am green of envy here but trying not to show it. Glad you are sharing :D
wish i could send you all a cup
:) You just did. A virtual one, but still!
13 left and going strong
funny with 3 cats,i have noticed that they all do thier bathroom duties in a cluster all within 3 minutes of each other instead of spreading it out
female cats? Or male?
2 females,1 male
hm then I wouldn't know. Women often go to the bathroom together, as you know... Men may want to leave their smell over that of others.
if it was all females id understand, same with humans your out for dinner with friends and invariably all the ladies go the the powder room in a group;))
we do!
men have for years yried to imagine the strange rituals that go on in those poweder rooms;)
mostly gossip. Restoring make-up. Discussing what the men have said and how they meant it, at length.
... and Fireworks!
ahh putting on the war paint and going over the battle plans for the evening
yaa for merk;0
ty ... not a bad grid, a great improvement for me over yesterdays.
fireworks
It got my Saturday off to a good start. Now it's almost ten and I'm finished with it, my morning walk, and breakfast out with a friend. Lots of time left to do odds and ends.
congrats Anike
See you tomorrow, dear friends.
ty merk
bye Merk, enjoy the time
TY Merk - and you too. Not a bad grid as you say. I've celebrated my anniversary, dear hubby asleep in chair, I'm a bit tipsy, and I'm boiling fruit for Xmas cakes while I do grid in about 80 mins.
*grin* yeah sort of, the battle plans. Though there is a lot of insecurity going on in lady bathrooms, crossy. "Did he really..." and "Do you think he thinks..." and such.
anike - its our anniversary as well. 39 years for us
39 years...holy cow
hi everyone
hi ruru, and gratz JFB
Only 33 for us JFB
seemed like a good idea at the time! lol
you could have done murder and still had less time jfb..lol
hehehe and still does? Must be special, to be together that long.
that's an old joke from a friend of mine
some people do the time first and then the murder, ruru ;)
Its still a good idea isn't JFB?
Husband comments that it only seems like 330 years
and hes never forgotten our anniversary once - perhaps because yesterday was his birthday!
lol
how's the puppy, ruru?
I should post the new picture.. he is three lbs already
I think I'll keep him for a bit longer - at least until I get the rubies next year!
oh wow! Nice growing :)
My husband gets a clue when my birthday comes around 10 days earlier. We needed to get married in between racing seasons so met and were married within 7 months.
his eyes should open this next week.. I hope to go meet him for the first time tomorrow
Keep him, JFB, he sounds like a good one.
I want a full report!
sure thing..
I must go and convince sleepy hubby to go to bed. G'night everyone and congrats on 39 years JFB
bye anike
I am sorry to bother but I just need clues for the middle A for NBT

*rushes in and spreads some hugs around* Hi, all, missing Babble terribly as our net's still down at home - been too busy at the library today to sit and do much of it. (seeing how much I can do in half an hour....)
20 to go aqnd putting up Christmas tree..with first grandchild to dress tree for
dogs are excited too
awww, that'll be fun, Joanne. How's the beagle, any better?
still snorting
happier with tree up
waiting to sniff out presents lol
he likes opening them
don't care who's tho
we have to put a few cat toys at the very bottom of our tree, so the cats can tear them off and run off with them - we find them and put them back, a little game we've developed over the years, lol
with two hounds totaling 150 lbs and 2 cats, i've given up on putting a tree up :-)
lol aww so cute
our dog chases the cats as they escape with the stuff, pretty funny pastime. But this way they usually don't try to remove any of the other ornaments - or climb the tree! (knock on wood.)
knock knock
i love my tree but biatch to put up
it's not our animals I have to protect the gifts from, it's the kids (and they're 18 and 22, should really have developed a bit more patience by now, but noooo...) ;)
they never do
do we really want to grow up?? at Christmas
i love giving
I still get to hear the "he's got more presents than me" and "but my friend gets to open up some before Christmas, why can't I?" and find corners torn off the wrapping paper on the boxes...
so I usually just don't put them out until a day or 2 before. Safer that way.
lol
at their age???
should be more about cost lol
daughter ..i can get her anything, as usual. son money
new baby....everything!!!!! yaaqaa
well, they don't get many actual presents any more, we just give them $$$ and sent them off to pick out what they want. Can't afford to buy them things they don't like, so I don't bother any more. Son's the pickiest about his clothes, amazing!
I love Christmas especially as seen through a childs eyes
yep, new babies are great - no grandkids here yet.
amen rbud
facebook me rbud,joanne neilson
see my grandchild
The first tree we had after acquiring a cat, she ran right up it and pulled it over! Fortunately, nothing on it but lights, yet. Since then, we have a strong plant-hanger hook in the ceiling and the top of the tree is anchored to that! But no cat since then has ever run up a tree - no doubt they know it won't fall over! And no breakable ornaments below adult chest level, ever since a pup tried to grab a red glass ball (ever tried to hold a dog's mouth open while you wash it out with a quirter? never again!)
lol
my tree is too tall for star lol,but very pretty
back for just 10 minutes. any help with the re 6/21s?
re 6/21 ... slow down 9growth)
9growth?
oops drop the 9
Ah! See it!
25 left. no way i'm going to finish this
Good evening, babbling buddies :)
Hello all!
Guten Abend, Soodle, looks like they are all under water
Whispers - Very quiet crowd in tonite, Scrabs!
Go Jay go! You are so close. I have 71 to go.
And now Inge is here!
Hiya Inge - whew, thought I was being ignored!!
Hi, I'm back - joy, joy, just got home and my net is up for a change! better enjoy it while it lasts! and as a matter of fact, just got a FB account the other day, right before the storm took my net away, will see if I can find you, Joanne.
Scrab, just the person I was looking for. How do you spell Adirondecks correctly? and do you know Pisco Lake there?
Adirondacks. Piseco Lake--I paddled there the last 2 summers. My cousin rents a home for 2 wks and I visit.
Hi rbud
And we kayaked down the Piseco Outlet---gorgeous scenery.
Hi Rbud. My email is medickinson@eircom.net - feel free to add me as a friend!!
well, my brother of Ballston Lake had a cottage there. They called it their Camp. His wife Nancy and daughter Robin still use it. Last name is Gibelius.
He died in his sleep last August 30th, in that cabin
And I have driven through Ballston Lake or was it Ballston Spa? We ate lunch at a cute place overlooking the lake.
Oh, Inge, that is terrible.
I didn't know your brother died, Inge. I am sorry to hear that.
he had a heart attack at 50, and survived 25 more years. That is lucky in my estimation\
Ballston Spa is at Lake George. Ballston Lake has only a little lake and few inhabitants
Beautiful ar4.
Should you go there next summer, say hello to whoever is at the Gibelius cottage. Their son Jeff has two little boys who spend 2 weeks there with their Mom Kari. They have a looooong drive from Carlisle PA
just put together th5 reindeer for front yard
hubby says cheesy
We just keep two plastic soldiers lit up in frontabove the garage.
Nah!! At Christmas, nothing is cheesy. There is a 'cheese - dispensation'.
i'm excited
tree looking good and now yard to decorate
Do these reinde** have lights? I like seeing the ones made of branches and with lights.
he's a scrooge
One neighbor has the trees along her driveway lit up with blue lights. About 6 on each side.
bet it's pretty inge
Some yards have lights that are beautiful.
I have never subscribed to the 'less is more' school of thought when it comes to Christmas. Its the middle of winter, recessions abound, Heck.... Go Fo It!!!!
yes scrabs
baby was e4 to put together but mom was hard
Scrab, I have a video of someones fantastic light display. Sending it now.
back for a few more words;))
Hello Crossy
howdy soodles
there''s a blue that is ...amazing
crossy loves blue, the blue of a calm ocean deep and mysterious, the blue of a robins eggs and the blue of my wifes eyes that i fell into 17 years ago :)

OK. Maybe not cynical. Maybe just jealous. (Cos I am - I would SO love somebody to say something like that about me).

Hi N! Inge e-mailed it to me.

Oh!! Thank goodness for that Mo. I thought that I was the last person left on the British Isles!

Scrabbler ae6/7 ... ae + cost and plural.
I'm sorry Harp - not got that far yet
harp .. re + step and plural.
re6 = to slow down, or a mean word for someone mentally handicapped
another re 6 = a place to get away from it all

sorry, that was re7
TY Mo
yw.

re6 = to examine again
see ya scrabs... be careful out there

nrk ... good clue.
fireworks!
well strange--i have that. my bad

Oooh Well Done, Nrk

bye all!
thanks for the r's
dont think anyone noticed nrk!!
glad you got them harp.
PTSD- not a word--a condition! I'll try anything!
Frantically rootling thru Nrk's postings....
how about the last de6/21?
PTSD????
So am I!
hi, folks
Last 6/21 - to loathe, abhor
jayk -- to hate something
DE6 ... DE + COST.
25 left. Hi all.
Hello the Magne!, and Welki
SORRY WRONG ONE.
sorry for being so loud!!
Mo - lol
you could yell your head off if you'd just get me that de!
de + another word for examination (how's that?)
soodlebum ... gave a clue at 3.08.#
Jayk is going to smack forehead when the penny drops.....
bless you welki! had all the others like it too
no kidding -- i followed immediately with a clue after yours, soodle
Soodlle ... he will!!!
Anxiously awaiting forehead smacking.....
Back again. I see you've got an icon now, Jayk! Good for you! Now how about your sex (shirt top) and the flag? You've come a long way already....
here, i'll smack mine .. because i'll do anything to get out of this 'interactive' dinner theatre i am obliged to attend this evening ... maybe i can give myself a concussion
Nef--
LOL, welki! Sit in the back row (but not TOO far back!
oh welki ... I feel for you!!
can't figure out how to get that flag OR how to add a paragraph like I see a lot of people have....very sad IT skills
yes, Jayk?
okay. go back to My account and that will allow you to add those there.
no rows, it's something called Tony and Tina's Wedding, where you actually go to a pretend wedding and are forced to participate in exchange for a crappy supper and schmoozing with people i wouldn't recognize if they walked in the bathroom on me
might as well try that again because i'm never going to get the last 20
my strategy: if there is an aisle, i will be in the middle of it, surrounded by unsuspecting folks who will be grabbed by the "actors" to dance and "act" their parts
there is a box on the My Account page that shows info. AND there is a button there that says Show profile.
gosh welki I cannot think of anything worse .... have a greeeat headache!
my prayer: that the folks who are also going don't play Babble :)
Welki; I understand that's a lot of fun! Haven't seen it yet; but just go pretend you're at a wedding of a distant cousin
mind you, i am in no way a shy person, but i am very private and don't share my personal/casual stuff with business associates
Oh to be a fly on the wall at Tony and Tina's wedding!!!
you don't have to share ANY personal or casual stuff there.
I think it sounds like a hoot!
and get this. the invitation doesn't give any clues about what this is. i went searching and found out about the 'dress code,' and that, if you're dressed improperly, you'll be yelled at ... now that would have been wonderful (because i am not a "flight" sort of person and would "fight" LOL)
I know so many people who did go to it and had a grand time. Just have fun and pretend it's a distant relative.
it might be fun if i was going with friends, but these are by no means friends
is this a business event?
besides, i'm going to miss the curling match on tv! (yes, business)
Nef--progress. But even tho i picked a country there's no flag
Welki, all the more reason to throw yourself into it. Sounds like a mad night out!
hi, all - welki just catching up on your event tonight - seems like a strange choice for a work group - what kind of work do you do may I ask?
At least you won't take a gift ... or did you pay for a ticket to this thing ? Since it;s not a real wedding, can't you just not show-up ?
okay. Dress up as though you are going to acasual, slightly dressy date.
it's not my work ... someone else's
i work in the justice system, jbc
seems I am out-numbered ... so I will be off ... and good luck welki!!!!
v .. jbv
Jayk, find the button that says "Show Profile"
outnumbered? come back mo! what do you need?!
Ah, she's a Wedding Co-ordinator for dysfunctional couples
Hello all
out-numbered for what, mo?
hi lynxxx
Jayk, go back and click the Update Profile buttons at the bottom
thanks, lynxxx. I'm on a mac and have trouble telling PC people what to do.
I thought it was a rubbish idea , but everyone seems to think it would be a "hoot".
think i have it. this is a te4
this show has been running off-broadway for years, welki - I've known people who';ve loved it and those who have hated it
Ta Dun!
i use a mac, too .. wish there was a pro version
YAY, Jayk! WTG!!!!
me too welki
yep, it's probably the longest running comedy, jbv. and it might be fun if the group going wasn't such a collection of duds
Yay, Jayk's an all American girl!
yay, Jayk!
although i've always balked at invitations to these interactive things ... when i go out, i don't like to have to work for my supper
with apparently a limited vocabulary. 19 left
Jayk, is your icon a Gee's Brnd quilt ?
yay, Jay!! I see you've met Crossy! LOLOL
Oh Mo - I was only expressing a personal opinion. I would love to go to a gig like that. Welki - off you go, and don't make eye contact with any of the players, and you'll be grand!
LOL, welki - last week I had tickets to a show in our local theater, found out when we got there they were in the 2nd row!! one of my friends said, "I think we're IN this play - and I don't know my lines!"
Ask for help Jayk. Are you using Lickety's list?
welki ... have a good night ... whatever you decide.
I didn't know that icon thing was a head and shirt, I thought it was a purse.
thanks, mo ... i'll go (i have to) and i'll probably have a fine time. *trying to convince herself*
Let us know how you get on, Welki?
LOL, Christine, it took me the longest time to figure that out
funny Chris
at least it's a fun theme - I really would have second thoughts about those murder mystery plays, where you have to solve a murder - don't like that at all
Oh yes! I'd be nowhere without lickety
Soodle ... but I thought I was the only one that thought it was something that I would not like to go to.
I agree with you on that, JBV. Although I went to one once in DC that was a comedy murder mystery and that was quite fun
girl-purses, boy-purses, and a lavenderish thing for mrpresident ... I just don't know ...
jbv, you know i grew up in nyc ... i have only been to a couple of broadway plays, i don't like it. i can't sit still for three hours. i don't go to movies, but can watch them at home if i can press 'pause' and make some popcorn or stretch my legs. ut oh, it's me! i'm the dud!
welki, at Tony and Tina's wedding, you don't have to sit still
*would rather sit home with mo and share the date nut bread i baked today*
so maybe this is more for you welki - you can get up and dance ! (i think)
Mo - if your social life was like mine, you would go to whatever cat-fight you were invited to. Your talking to the original Billy-No-Mates here!! Separated from hubby of 20years, 2½ years ago, and social life has flat-lined!!
im having a party tonight soodles, common over!:)
oh yeah, i can see it now, jbv. one site i visited said there's the limbo ... uhmmmm, my body is anti-limbo *lol*
Soodle, you just have to learn to get out and live again. It will happen when you're re***
Cross - just packing up the case with oodles of Irish Bacon, and hitching a ride on the next flight to Canada!
you will be welcome welki ... Soodle I wasnt criticising.
hey crossy, i copied jac's recipe for those bacon muffins and will probably make them tomorrow :)
good stuff welki!! bacon goodness for all!!
offer to hold the pole, welki. No one will make you do it then
i was thinking more along the line of whispering to whoever tries to get me to dance ... something to the effect of, 'if you like your teeth, let go of my arm'
soodle, many many moons ago, when I was still single, I used to go to everything I could fit in, to not be home alone - I had a ball! nothing was too outlandish - square dances, zen meditation groups, astronomy lectures, I was there
lol, welki. that should do it. Or you could limp and pretend you've injured your ankle
sorry if I offended any square dancers out there with my "outlandish" comment
they really are a radical bunch, jbv. if i was you, i'd change my name/icon
not to worry, jbv, I think square dancing is actually very inland
I hear you JBV, but, lack of funds precludes my paraticipation in many events..... :(
hi doren!
hey dorens
many are free - soodle - church groups, university groups - etc....
Welki, is your icon one of those fish-entising thingies? Very pretty.
hi guys
Soodle, here where I live there are community activities through the school system that are low cost and even free. During the summer we have arts in the park, free concerts, etc. Do they have anything like that in Ireland?
yes, it's a fly for steelhead trout
hi Dorens. Haven't seen you lately, are you around at a different time or is it me?
must be off now ... goodnight everyone .... sorry if I have offended anyone ... didnt mean to.
dunno nef, probably a combination of the two (or maybe three... sometimes if i 'm in a rush, i don't chat much)
good night mo. Sleep tight!
bye Dorens
Nef - Any activities like that are usually populated by 'the Desperate'. I don't think I have come far enough to declare myself as desperate. (tho that day is rapidly approaching...LOL)
bye to whomever is leaving,, mo i think
g'night, mo :)
Goodnite, Mo. sleep well
oh soodle you never know, maybe someone else who isn't "desperate" will be checking it out the same evening
oops sorry Dorens
Isn't there a word entise ... to lure? I couldn't think of that word, but the one I used looks odd ...
ta 7 please? that's entiCe Christine
i'd say give it a try, soodle, hold off on judging - others may be just like you - wanting to talk, chat for a while
entice
entice Christine
welki, my brother has a plaque on his garage wall. It's the skull and the tail of a steelhead trout (?salmon?) and then some small ribs of a deer in between. My kids thought it was a real fish skeleton when they first saw it!
entice? in fishing, a lure is a manmade thing that can look like just about anything that a fish might be attracted to,
Thank you Dorens. At the moment, I am happy to sit at home, play Babble, and await the Knight in Shining Armour to gallop up my driveway, and whisk me away to his castle!
Maybe soon, I will be in a position to go out and look for him....:)
a 'fly' is something that is made to imitate something lifelike .. an insect, an amphibian, a mouse, a fish. when this fly gets wet, the colors and shape are similar to a small trout
that's what i kind of did after a while... and he galloped up my driveay and was there when i opened my garage door
or just go out and have him bump into you -
Help! I'm the one that corrects the speech and spelling of the neighbourhood kids. It looked odd, but I couldn't think why.
that's fate, doren
Soodle, those Knights in shining armor always get lost along the way; swooped off their horses by bold women waiting in the shadows
trout and salmon are related, but steelhead is considered a trout
A ta 7/28 word is the most ta 4/4 word Dorens&hello
i have to admit i reached a point when i couldn't stand the "serach" any more and did just stay home.. happy listening to music and babbling away. and he really did show up in my driveway at my garage door as i was on my way out to yoga
thanks welki. I was thinking that trout were smaller than that
that should have been "search"
ke6?
good story, doren - what was he doing there?
yeah, how did he find your garage?
ke 6/36 is compound word and extends ke 4/10 word
oh, boyhowdy, some lake trout are over 30 pounds! one reported was 50+ pounds
ke6 compound
http://humour.200ok.com.au/why_men_are _happy.html
Nef. Thats the reason he hasn't found me!! Thank you! I will consider going off on a 'bold woman hunt' with a big stick, and get rid of the hags. Then Knight in shining armour won't be side-tracked en route to Soodle's front door
thanks
T's Toppled! 4 left
coming to return a book he thought was mine.... really just trying in his awkward way to reestablish a relationship that had ended a few years ago... he got married shortly after we stopped seeing each other... then that fell apart (wasn't really the right girl for him to marry, as his family and friends all noticed). but i guess everyone is entitled to one mistake
harp, what is that picture? looks like naked people at the opera
soodle, if you took up flyfishing you would find yourself someone who has patience ... and flyfishing in ireland is supposed to be heavenly!
LOL! Visions of soodle carrying a giant bat, beating old ladies just flashed through my head!
ah, the old return-a-book strategy!
hahaha! i like harp's icon! punny!
I once had an ex boyfriend from HS call me several years later and ask me if he could borrow a paper I wrote on Chaucer for his college course - I needed my mother to tell me the chaucer paper was just an excuse to pick up the thread
yes, it actually was his book (or maybe his late wife's) and he remembered me reading it when we were down in sanibel... was hoping it was mine, but it didn't really matter
And when the boys in blue come and arrest me, I will say - But my Babbling Buddies Told Me To. And then , the whole of babble will be arrested, and instead of going to the PB, we will all share a squalid cell, with no choclit!!
flyfishing would definitely be a good way to meet men I would think. (I'm not looking, Dh is sitting back to back with me on his computer too)
that is a great one though, jbv
NO Choklit! Soodle leave the stick at home then!
Welki, My son is a very keen fisherman. He fishes for white and brown trout, salmon and he loves it.
Soodle slinks back into her solitary, Billy-No-Mates existence.
JBV, that's good your Mom was smart! I'd do the same thing: never know someone was hitting on me.
have him set you up with a medium-light rod/reel combo, show you the basics of casting and tying knots and it'll come naturally. women are better at it than men are
ta 7 please?
most like a harlot
yes, how did mother know these things??? hmm....
thanks welk
A ta 7/28 word is the most ta 4/4 word Dorens&hello
dorens, ta 7 is a sour flavor
Hi Min
yup got it, thanks also min and nef, and i think i take a fish slap with that one too
K's Kicked! 1 left
Thank goodness Welki got in before JBV
Hello Nef!How are you? I entered without saying hello
I noticed! Min, how unlike you to do that!
I'll save my last word for later tonight. Be back later.
gotta go.. bbl. happy babbles all
bye Dorens.
fish slap? try this! http://tiny.cc/fishy386
?? christine? got in where before jbv?
i was wondering too welki
is it about harpjane's icon? welki seems to have got a joke I missed
When I went to my 40 yr HS class reunion, a guy took me aside and spent time apologizing to me for being mean as a teenager. (My DH stayed home, he wasn't well enough for the trip) Afterwards I told my girlfriend that I felt like he was doing the AA 12 steps "Making amends" or whatever. She told me that NO, he was hitting on me! I was totally shocked!
look closely at the photo and then at what today's icon theme is
Thats me done for today - not finished but the cabaret was great!
hi jfb
hi & bye welki
'sorry i was a first rate bee-dick to you in school, but now that you're hot, you want to hook up?'
3:50 : most like a harlot & how did your Mother know these things ... just a bad joke.
oh! i see - usually don't check icon themes, but thanks, I think
I've never figured out how to change icons for the themes, but what's worse is I don't know where to find the themes
What is the theme? I thought those wew naked theater-goers.
sprite has them listed
click on Sprite's profile in rankings
they are naked theatre goers who happen to be engaging in a certain practice that is named after today's theme
the theme is "moons" christine
welki, that was about it I guess. What's even worse is that I don't remember him doing the things he was apologizing for.
thank you
could someone clue the the th5/12?
it's a pronoun (or adjective) jayk
One of TH*** days, Alice! To the moon!
so they ARE nekkid
OMG!! how blind can one be?!
it's just babble blindness, jayk - happens to all of us
that's why we keep a hefty supply of fishies around .. for those of you who missed this, i think this is still hilarious: http://tiny.cc/fishy386
I always have trouble when the word doubles back on itself Jayk
it IS cute, welki
makes me laugh every time :)
very funny, thanks, welki
well, i guess i'll go finish up some laundry and (very slowly) start getting ready for ~~the festivities~~
well, there's a christmas tree sitting here as bare as can be - someone has to put lights on it, and I guess that someone is me, so see you all later, folks and good luck with the grid
later, babblepals
Welki - Enjoy. And be sure to report back.....
8 to go--mostly baby words. i am giving myself 25 minutes, then i fold
oh, yes, please let us know how it goes, welki
Jayk - do you know about Morewords
help with the de4/7?
good afternoon all. How is everyone?
hi Red!
Lynxxxx
Jayk, some people here leave the last words for later so they can finish with a flourish of applause amonst friends
lynxxx--yes. better than A2Z?
de4.7 - 7 da** in a week
really nef? I am always just happy to see the FW that as soon as Ic an enter them I do it!!!
Nef--well if I KNEW the damn words i might do that!

Me too! how about the te 5/10 that's 6th from the bottom?
My daughter donated her Bat Mitzvah money last year in a raffle to an agency caring for abandoned animals and they just called to tell us she won a 40 inch flat screen TV
A te5/10 is te plus double consonants plus vowel Jayk
There seems to be a whole group of te's that I don't have
Wow! That is cool Kaplan the Magne!I wish I had one!
That;s lovely Kaplan, what goes round DOES come back
She said she will let us use it once in a while.
That te 6/18 word is a te5/10 word plus a vowel Jayk

Guys!!! That was a Freu8dian Typo!!!
Happy Hanukkah!
some of us ARE goys

Goodbye periwinkle!I will see you tomorrow in the log
Thak you. Ta7?
I'm missing that ha5/14 also
ha 5/14 is archaic past tense of to have something.
TY. I recall seeing that here before.
A ta 7/28 is the most ta 4/4 word Kaplan the Magne.
yw
scrabs--think old english
Jay, have you finished yet?
No. 4. will not get
Ask for clues, Jay

Don't ask me! I have NEVER finished a grid in an hour
The second ha r/14 I'm still not sure
There are some word nerds here that find words superbly.
I use A2Z words, but often cannot find
They are aliens, from the Planet Babble. Their sole function is to make mere mortals like us feel inadequate.
ha + In the mi*** of something
Well said, Soodle

You have been here too long, Kaplan
I have 7 left

hate to pack it in, but must. last call friends: I'm missing the last ta 5/10, the 6th from bottom te 5/10, the third from the bottom tr 4/4 and something else I've lost sight of
first te6/18 please
I don't use the part of lickety that has all the 4 letter, 5 letter etc.- at the end- it makes my eyes glaze over
last ta5 = pl of the ta4/4 above
That te6/18 word is te plus the re4/4 word Scrabbler
te5 = t + to make a mistake (***) + vowel = Latin word for earth/ground
The ta5/10 is plural of the ta 4/4 word before it Jayk
3 ½ hours - Fireworks for Soodle!!! Can I help anybody before I head for the scratcher?
tr4/4 = tr + New York M**s baseball team
te5/10 is te plus double consonants plus a vowel Jayk

Go Scrabbler go!
This, That, Th*** and Those
Th5 grids will make one crazy!
babbleblind
C'mon guys... We can do this....
The first 1r5/10? Not the heart one
I mean ar5/10
Latin pl of ar4
ar 5/10 is ar 4/4 word plus a vowel Kaplan the Magne
TY
Same as the ar 4/4. bit add a vowel, Kaplan
He7?
he 7/36: a compund word and ends like the ke6 word
Happy birthday minver

I THINK I need the te5/10 that is 6th from the bottom and i have completely lost track of the r
Sorry, Jay, I did ra5.

re5 = Re5, set, go!
te6/18-there are 3
NO- RE5! Sorry! The second re5?10!!!
TY, Blue. I think very carefully about names for my pets
scrabs--it's the r on the right i'm missing and the t in the middle
No - the OTHER re5! RE5/10!
whoa1 it's getting hot around here...lol
Yeah- that's me
someone is yelling
Second re 5/10 - to view again
Kaplan is very emotional
tread
TY!!!!! Now te6 please?????
re5/10 --two, one = re + to visualize, other is like male chicken (rooster) but change O's and drop er
go jayk
Emotions - better out than in!!
TE6!!!!!!!!!!!!Before I FREAK OUT!
ESDRFGYUJHLKHBVBYUKNHIL!!!!!
You already have Kap

It's Jewish angst!
crossy hides the bacon;)
TE6??? Please? Jewish angst? Such AGGRAVATION!
There are 3 te6/18's. First = te + re4/4 (re + eight, nine, **n...)
mmmmm. bacon
Oh my! theres a few te/6's. first - a childish version of torn. secondwhat a cow is - another word for udder, past tense
Second = Latin pl of te5 befor eit
The very last te6/18
there are 2 te6"s
3rd te6/18 = rhymes with weasel-like animal, fe****
Jay, Jay, where are you?
I'm missing one 6 aqnd one 5. One of them is a middle T and the other is the far right R

I hope you're okay Kap
wtg kap
Come on, Kap, help me out!
LOL What do you mean far right r and middle t, jay?
I'm fine. I'm just being dramatic
lol That was fun!!
It's part of my heritage
Love drama
Which ones Jay-
Just what I said--there's something missing for the R on the right and something missing for the t in the middle. One is a 5 and one is a six
I loveyour pix of Soupy Sales Kap
I bid you all a very good night, and am turning off the computer before I get dragged into any more clueing!!!
Happy Chaukah Kaplan!
Jay, it is tough for us to clue without more specific info
Run Soodle run!
Bye Soodlebum--sleep well!
give the point value and location on the lickety list
Jay, copy your list and paste it into Lickety's list, at the bottom
Or I can't clue you
G'nite folks. tx for the laughs!!
OK, well, as near as i can tell I have all the res, BUT i have only 9 out of ten on the right column R. As fior the T I think it is a te 5/10, tho i have the one that means torment
copy my list and paste into lickety's? how to do that?
te5/10- te*** firma
Thx Kaplan: down to one!
re 6 = re + de4 (sweetie, honey)
Copy the list- highlight it and then hit copy and go to licekty- the box that says bulk grab and hit paste
I mean Bulk add
Then you click add bulk and the lickety grid will fill
Do you need a different re6, Jay?
OMG! That did it. Scrabs, you are the best!!! I can no make up for everything else I should have done today and hop for a lesser grid tomorrow. THANKS all of you
Yay! Time to go! Thanks all.

no joy? :-(
no joy, but astonishing luck - guessed it - it actually doesn't exist in the grid
lol gort!
Hi all....THe Polar express seems to be on tonight at 8 pm....sure wish they would make these things at 7 pm
hi red
aunty gort's handy hint for non-existent word: re6/21 = to stunt growth or development
got to do wheel of fortune and jeopardy
need more help than that gort
I got to do bed soon. SIck and I discovered I am working on Sunday so I gotta get better....
oh poor red I never get to see you any more!

A ph 6/27 is past tense of the ph 5/14 word jmcnrick
hi all, just had an awful email experience - my internet service provider upgraded their mail service, and somehow re-sent nearly 3,000 emails to me from the last 2 years. Took forever to get them all into my inbox, and another forever to delete them all! :P
that sounds like a nightmare Rbud, i use `mailwasher pro` which looks at e-mails on the isp server so can delete the messages before they go onto my computer.
I do have a preview thingie, too, but was so amazed I just clicked "accept" before I really thought about it, oops!
lol, a lesson learned, but then i suppose you do not expect to get two years worht of e-mails in one day, i hope you sent them an e-mail complaining about it...thats if you couls stomach another e-mail that is..lol
Oh JMC< I was distracted, yes, we have to give at least a Months notice.
hi rbud and zooz, and those lurkers!
Hello, Red :-)
help please- have monkeyed ther second re- 6/21 and cannot find it
hello all
you know, I am watching the Polar express, I have to say this film has really grown on me.
It really reflects the way kids think about things.
re + when writing a letter you start with **** sir or madam
Hello Lindy :-)
nm- found it- thanks
Not seen the film, Red
when I first saw it I really dislike it, as it didnt really reflect the book, but, for some reason its really grown on me...
my dog is trying to help me... he doesn't spell very well, though
oh hang on , i just googled it Red, yes i have seen it before, i like it too, the name did not ring a bell at the time..lol

*pour jack in a glass for sammy*
thanks jm
I need to be careful not to drink all the jack before I finish my bourbon balls
I am 1/2 done with the bourbon balls and SSOOOO lazy today
I would Crossy, but it is 00:43am here, not good to eat just before bed, but sounds nice though.
as- can you believe- i actually learned to eat left- handed so that i wouldn t have to stop playing- quite awkward at first but a bib helps
sammysmom - just saw your ? regarding the qupte in my profile - I borrowed it from somewhere else, feel free to use it yourself. :)
bibs are good
*quote
mmmm jack and bourbon balls;))
yeap but the bourbon balls have to sit and mellow for at least a day
yup- i have even resorted to using a plastic bag from the market- - a few slashes and it ties aaround the neck and is disposable into the recycle bin
20 left
thanks rbud
I can eat with either hand - do most things with either hand. I injured my right shoulder when I was a teen, and had to use a sling for a couple weeks...
even now I mouse left-handed to protect that right shoulder
go asl go
it is amazing how we learn to adapt to life's smacks in the head huh?
came in handy when I broke the middle finger of my right hand last year...
until I broke my left wrist a few weeks later!
*wraps asl in bubble wrap*
aslindy- are you one of my kids?????

I am not joining the injury discussion..... 18 surgerues on various parts... you adapt
Hi Zooz
and aslindy and Sammysmom and JMC
gee I only broke my foot one and thats it
I am obviously not related to JMC :)
I need two hands to brush my hair -- nearly waist length
I had never broken a bone before last year... even after falling off horses more times than I can count over the years
well wait -- I had the herniated disk
how is everyone? It is raining here
i have never broken any of my bones, or ever stayed one night in hospital ( i was born at home)
beautiful day here today
clear night here DR, getting rather chilly now though
My hubby calls me "Bubble wrap"
cold here, but not as windy, so not so bitter
then there was the cancer surgery -- but i didn't have cancer
it is a warmer storm than we had last wee. We need the rain but I wish people knew how to drive

hi again - i'm back, couldn't finish the Christmas tree, one strand of lights was dead, need to go out tomorrow to get another string
I hate when that happens, JBV.
i know, so frustrating
but this is a no-stress Christmas - I gave myself plenty of time to do it all
hi everyone
that's good for you. I usually have my tree up on Dec. 6th; but haven't done any decorating yet so far this year
We cut a fresh tree this year - smells wonderful
hi, MPittore

3rd te6.18 rhymes with the furry little weasle
re + tr*** softly and carry a big stick
nm got your second clue Une txs
doing well, Neffie, and you?
procrastinating, LBD. I should be decorating the tree and getting the cards done; instead I'm playing Babble (spent most of my time here chatting instead of working the grid)
weasle?
weasle like critter, often kept as a pet, te6.18 rhymes with it.
nef - did the same thing all day!
got it ty
ahh, i know what you mean Nef. but i did get the xmas letter written, edited and printed. now i just have to stuff the envelopes and stick on the labels.
as for my tr4, i have the lights and some garland on it, but no other decorations. debating on putting anything else on it. i kinda like the simple look of it.
hello friends!
well, I had a class all moring (8-1 PM; whoever decided that they should hold and start a class on a Saturday at 8 should be shot!) drove over and picked up my son (his car is broken) so he could bring the decorations up from the basement. He lives 34 miles ACROSS the Cities! And I've procrastinated since

Holy cow! There are a ton of RE words!

My icon is of Madchen Amick. It is her birthday today

The de5/16 rhymes with te*** cloth bathrobe Pinikula

LOVE her attitude though! I would guess R Patz is pretty full of himself about now
If I were really that pretty Trifioso,I would have not one problem showing pictures of myself in the profile.
I think you probably are that pretty min! You are always perfectly lovely to everyone here, and that is what counts. You are truly a golden soul.
Thank you Trifioso. Wish my hubby felt the same way
