ac7
how should we take that, ruru?
jili; hugged you at 12:08 sorry if you missed it!
we got a bit wet, just as I fell ill, so I'm now more miserable than before I started the meds...Phoenix is low enough to not get snow, but rain wreaks havoc on our desert drivers, and ill-formed roads...
I saw it, dee, after my whine -- sorry!
(big blessings?)
and of course the poopies do not like wetness at all
HUGE blessings for ruru!
I suppose So7 was called? got here late...

good night nan
goodnight nan, thanks for clues
we liked it
oops clued the wrong one, ursh
thats the one tx lynxx
but we were there 14 years ago
oh 14 years ago Algarve was definitely quite different , Wes :-)
we loved the end of the earth too
can't remember the name
Prince Henry was from there I believe
Lagos?
probably, but if you mention "the end of the earth" in Portugal, we associate to cabo da Roca, close to Lisbon, because of an excerpt from the "Lusiadas" that is in scripted there ;-)
this was about 5 hours from Lisbon
"aqui onde a terra se acaba e o mar começa " = "here, where the earth ends and the sea begins" , Luis Vaz de Camões - LusÃadas :-)
¡ay, farruska, me encanta ésta!
good morning/eveving, everyone
we have good memories even if they aren't very accurate
hi DC!
hi seain
14 years ago, 5 hours from lisbon, then is Lagos alright :-)) now it takes "only" 3 hours on the motorway
hi, lyn, west, Farruska, etal
hi dc!
i've been lurking a while now
good evening, jilli :)
hya Seain :D that's Spanish , I'm from Portugal :D
lyn glad you're still here Florida room because we can't use it in winter
that darn ci4/5 always gets me! when will it stick!
oh! lol!
see I told you this was an Italian grid
you haven't been around, have you been working DC? (I hope)
lol, flosey I actually found it tonight!
lol, and we have italian in-laws
well, over halfway, but it's a struggle
eu sei, farruska - mas o meu portugues não e molto bem
alas, no, lyn. but i had a lovely weekend in Boston with a friend.
7 to go here, and yes, it's been quite a struggle
I lived in Spain as a youngster, and my native dialect is not unlike the Tras os montanhas dialect of portuguese
BBL
hi, flosey. hasta, lyn
I keep entering possible words only to find they're impossible
hi dc - when we visited Spain, they wouldn't let us use the bit of the language we had learned - they wanted to practice their English
close, trás os montes, my grandma and great grandma is/was from there ;-) That's a special dialect called Mirandês :-)
yes, i ran into that there too, flosey. but since i speak both languages natively, it's only an issue for me when they bother to ask where i'm from, or here me translating for others.
cool, thanks for that farruska
agh, hear me...
flosey/seain here is the opposite, I wish I could use english sometimes but nope, alles auf Deutsch bitte
interesting dc
and at my last job, i learned that my dialect of spanish is barely mutually intelligible with the California dialects. I have to speak slowly for them.
hey dcs
and they for me
also, I lived in Barcelona and had to learn Catalan because of some (native) people at work who refused to speak english or castellano :-))
hi, grannyrose :)
Farr, my daughter visited your city just before Christmas and loved it
) picking myself up from the floor ) himself has mown the back lawn, i was cultivating those dandelions, they were nearly 2 feet tall.
i can read catalan, and understand it, but i speak it only marginially better than portuguese. I spent a summer in Barcelona. Lovely town.
it used to be that in Quebec the francophones wanted to practise their Englsih, then it became "speak French", now I think the pendulum has swung back a bit althoug French must be predominant
LOL rose
Flosey Düsseldorf is specially beautiful with the Christmas markets :-) the whole city smells like cinnamon and cardamom :-)
people about my age and younger that i've spoken with from Quebec speak English as natives, and read little French.
yummy, farruska
sounds wonderful Farr
are your Quebec friends pur laine or anglophones?
she especially loved the mulled wine outside with the lightly falling snow
ahah Glühwein ! love that stuff :D
sigh, sounds wonderful, flosey and farr!
if anyone like to see photos from here, you can check my flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/farruska/ sets/
all native francophones, jilli, but for one - he's jewish from Montreal
this year we went to a medieval market in Siegburg and had for the first time "Met" , hot spiced honey wine , delicious!
have taken it down, will look at them later Farr
well, dc, they are different animals from the Péquistes of the past, thank goodness
Fireworks - wow, that snuck up on me
baby is finally awake :-) be back later
congrats, flosey
congrats flosey!
thanks, farruska, will browse through those later :)
i'm quite sure of that, jilli
WTG FLOSEY!!!!
YAY flosey the fast!!!
lol, I have some relatives who would really laugh at your comment there jilli
but thanks
nice icon choice, btw, flosey :)
thanks jilli, didn't think much of that particular style but that was about the most conservative
I meant her designs in general
bed time with 37 left night all
well, from what I read, the wilder the better in her opinion. Did you get to the last paragraph of the writeup in my profile?
goodnight diem
night diem
no jilli, skimmed thru, will now
g'night diem
wow jilli, I wonder how the Queen took that! guess she would keep her composure at all cost!
Guess she would. What a rude thing to do, though!
I can remember when some of the students wore very 'showing' type blouses, etc - and short, short skirts, and wondered how the younger male teachers kept their minds on teaching
lol, hubby being one of them
Well, I've run through Lickety and still have 47 unwords to find. Not liking this grid, or is it just me?
Lol, about hubby, flo!
I was even having trouble with some 4 letter words jilli
if not for the chat, this grid would not have been fun at all
at least you got through it
with lots of help
this one is a challenge, agreed
well, I'm not going to knock myself out -- I'll have morewords at my side from now on but think I'll just call it a day -- rather sleepy.
must get to bed now, good luck finishing jilli, dc, any others still around. Goodnight
sweet dreams, jilli and flosey
I did use morewords a few times jilli
Night flosey -- see you tomorrow fliptime?
for sure!
i'm off to empty dishwasher, read a short while, and sleep
happy babbling, yall! {poof}
night, dc, honey-chile!
and I'm off too --- *poof*

hi and nbt
TY Ursh
gosh the 7 letter words are interesting today
specially the last one. Hi
oh dear, don't think I have that one yet!
Hello everyone!
hi Brookie
Hi lynxxx, how are you today?
really well Brookie, it has been lovely day here which always makes everyone happy
I hear that every day in Melbourne is lovely!
ooo lucky you!
I have a good friend there that I talk to every day.
Hi Ata!
lol, not quite!
Except for that heat spell you went through recently, like a week ago.
bet you're glad that's over
Yesterday was up there too but cool change last night - and rain!
My son is doing his 4 a.m. crying thing again. Another 20 minutes before I'll get him.
Does it rain often in Melbourne?
How old is he now Brookie
Turning 2 next month.
I've been dealing with the 4 a.m. crying for a week now.
why exactly are you awake to hear it? :P
hi everyone
Hi Andree!
No, we are the worst state for rain. Our dam levels are bad - though not as bad as last year. This Summer had had some fairly good rain
hi Andree
never mind brookie its good research for our book, lol
That's right, the book... (and good point, Ata!)
Has anyone found more contributors to the book?
thanks for the mi clue ursh
no, but can help with the Dog one
Tell me more about the dog book... missed that conversation.
books? what how where when?
not a dog one we will all be miffed if our own dog doesn't make the front cover
lol, just 'invented' it Brookie
True about the cover! There will be no cover, then. Just pages that can get all torn after time. Maybe the dogs will eat the books.
ata, haz i think is in charge , we are going to write a bringing up baby book, not the rubbish you get now
Ata, Brookie Haz & Andree are all writing a book on child rearing
A 'tough love' and maybe a bit too tough type of book.
Music to my ears. Haz is in charge.
we will probably be advising brookie to use duct tape
oooooooo. I'll help Lyn with the dog one ;)
Hi Haz!
Stew will like that - his favorite toy is a newspaper
Hello! This grid is a STINKER.
hi haz
hi Haz
this grid isn't very friendly, you're right
tis rather! Haz! La Spaghettina!
isn't it, i am struggling to get to 1/2 way so i can bring up lickety, 78 left
If that s were to disappear, half the silly shortened words would go as well.
ata, pb for you. at 3:38 you said ooo lol
ooo so I can feel smug that I've got to 25 left without the list?! OOO OOO OOOOOOO
Waves of smugness echo through babble land.
But admit it, it's still a stinker, isn't it?
I'm smugger - 19 left, no list
all i have to say to you is another grid word today -- voodmpft!
Ata outsmugged?
utterly!!
wow lynxxx, my only excuse is i have only just started
getting there getting there ... bet Stew is helping Lyn
saw mama mia this afternoon, stage show was fantastic
he's the light relief
Oh good Andree. the girls loved it?
*smug* 2 more 7s found!
My smug is that I saw the infamous Italiian word without prompting.
Smug levels practically zero compared with Ata and lynxxx...
good morning everybody
Good morning, ruby.
hello hazx
smug increasing - got the last p
hi Ruby
hi lynxx
hello ata!
hi ruby, ruby and max!
hi ruby!
the girls loved it, 6 year old thought it was over at interval but the older ones just loved it, miss 10 and miss 14 can sing every song right through
hi brookie
hi ruby
whoops, hi andree wasn't found in the dictionary! am I the only one who does that stupidity?
i do it all the time ruby, am always suprised with what isn't found in the dictionary
all the time Ruby
ditto
like whole sentences lol
Ata probably never does. She's such a genius, but then, look at her genes.
oafs
whoops, pb for me
sorry
fyi, 2 year old fell back asleep... i guess he sensed the duct tape threats made by fellow babblers
it has to be said, I don't do it *that* often. But it has been known
husband on phone -- from upstairs
for shame Andree, frightening 2 y.o.
my head is obviously on the seashore today. My phantoms are Macoma and Pomatoceros, Latin names for the tellin shell and a weird sort of encrusting worm respectively
ata wins the brainiac award of 2010!
stop showing off ata,
Tacoma & Moama - 2 towns in Aust
but it's truuuuueee! and see? Lyn is just as bad!
and lynxxx wins the cartrographer of the year
*cartographer*
yes but I wasn't showing off so there
Tacoma is also in Washington
lynxxx is a humble cartographer then
I wasn't showing off either *sniff*
ata just can't help it that she's soooo smart lol
sure sure
btw, i still have 68 words left!
what the HECK is that ma7? what a weird word
clue for it?
ooooh, you found the last 7
It's a special hanging bed specially for nursing mothers.
i have no 7's boo hoo!
I did? go me! there, Haz did it better than I was typing :)
son is up again, undeterred by duct tape threats, and it's after 5, so i'll get him now... will be lurking...
why wasn't that around 46 yrs ago? whatever it is....
It was the inspiration for 'Rock a bye baby'
TY Haz - wonder if that is like BabRab's one
Typical. Haz already had it, but didn't share with anyone else
Yes, didn't want to be accused of being a smarty-pants.
started like gangbusters, 38 words and died!
lol
Besides, it doesn't count if you've thrown caution to the winds and consulted the list, does it?
outrageous
just a distraction, these are incredible: http://www.sallytharp.com/ Glass_Paintings.php
I know my limitations.
yay, got a 7! always surprised
yay ruby!
ty ata
foam
sc7 - the nerve!
lol good clue
will you stop with the 7's i still have none, getting the list so at least i have some idea what to look for
sorry again, still sleepy and upset by husband, need the pb!
so4 + not father + part of ***cumbes
ppl upset by husbands never need to go in the PB
Even with the wonderful clues I've given, Andree? I'm hurt. Appalled and hurt. I can hardly type.
**ecubes
andree did you see my dumb clue?
haz i'm still workig on the hanging bed
It begins with ma, Andree.
for the so7
co7 - religious marks on punctuation
ma7 - hanging bed for nursing mothers.
wow Ata, really thought they were photos at first, not too shabby at all
ty ata, got it
co7/52 - a shift in punctuation.
pretty impressive, aren't they! especially when you note the size - generally 48" x 48"!
co7.40 , and thankyou
i did not like some enjioy nursing but never actually felt like hanging myself
! missed that
Another co7/52 - the same as the preceding co7/40 (the sleeping patient with a nervous twitch), change the final letter.
And with that I go. Shopping to be done. Ugh!
ugh! good luck!
Toodle-oo!
bye Haz, bye Spangle
still playing with punctuation and hanging beds!! bye haz
hanging bed - the thing you sleep in at the beach. changed first letter
bye haz and thx everyone for all the clues

Hello everyone.
Hi Elder. This is a toughie today - I think everybody is concentrating.
hi elder
ty
Hello Soodle. I Just popped in for a while and somehow found the two K's. so Jmc's lucky day:)
For a small grid, it is not easy :(
i was trying once again to figure out who a person who wants to "friend me" is and why they think I care
we see vowels and think , oh crumbs:)
lucky me for sure elder :-D
i am doing better than usual with the vowel beginning words
I keep seeing tomato.
Jmc I take it that we are all friends here.
have you had supper yet soodle maybe you are hungary?
Soodle :)
on facebook elder -- these people from my HS who wouldn't have given me the time of day then
Its lunch time here, Jmc. Maybe I need tomato soup...
sorry lunch then (still haven't gotten the time difference straight in my foggy brain)
tomato soup it is then.
Jmc, Oh Yes, and they forget some of us have memories.
with a little cheddar on top
with garlic bread um..
to top it off these people are soooo differently politically i can't imagine they are going to be glad to associate with such a "radical"
yumm
to the right then Jmc.
I might as well be living with Old Mother Hubbard. My cu
well i did grow up in Texas *ahem*
poor soodle
:) :)
no tomato soup is pretty bare
Hic. Pardon. My cupboard is bare. Bereft of soup, garlic bread. There is only a dodgy bit of cheese in the fridge, which is highly suspect.
I better go foraging for food soon.
cheese is mold so you can eat it
canned tomatoes? you could make soup
Spodle scrape off the yuck stuff and eat.
thanks folks. You can rest assured I won't starve!!
Tinned beans/ spaghetti and the grot cheese on top.
*wrapping up box of goodies for the starving soodle*
(((JMC)))
help with the i words please
:-)
Greek letter and plural
Thank you Soodle, fancy missing those.
Or a word for very small scrap
oo i do better with that clue than greek! was just cruising wiki to find :-)

Like being in a vegetative state in the room at the top of your house
JK, Think of a disabled person's lavatory, and change the second last letter.
That ws for Jayk
ty Kaplan
I got the top of the house--that's 7/40. Soodle, not seeing what you're clueing
You're very welcome- I had just monkeyed it right before you asked
Ok Jk. Co plus double cons. The last five letters are MO 5/18 if you have got that far.
good grief! what kind of word is that!?
And the disabled lavatory is the same word - just replace the v with a d. (its not in the grid!)
I suppose the other 7/52 is just as ridiculous?
the other one is identical to the co 7/40 - just change the last letter. They sound identical.
I don't have that yet
not there yet...monkeys are tired
ty soodle
Do you have the co 7/40? The deep sleep and the noise a clock makes>
got that
Well just change the last letter to a high scoring one.
Fireworks!!
Thanks, Soodle! Finally! 6 left. This was a nasty little grid
congrats Soodle!

Good morning Babblers.
Hi Scrabs. How are you?
TY, Red.
oops, sorry
ty
gm scrabs
OK--will cross-country ski at 11.
hi tc. Good ot see you.
Nice! I can not imagine it being that cold!
One starts out cold then the sweating begins--my shirt ends up soaked in sweat!
It is great excersise.
It sure is! But it doesn't seem like work because it's so enjoyable in the woods.
thanks Red! Another astonishing discovery
sheets of ice here this morning. just saw a bird slide right off the end of a branch! LOL..
My car broke down last night and I had a nice invigorating walk home with dog and two tote bags in very cold temps.
Poor birdy!
Oh Gail, that does not sound like a fun evening at all.
Oh, Gail---is your car still there?
gail...sounds miserable...
No, it was towed to the shop. I was just three blocks from home.
THat is good to be three blocks, but still, not very fun....
My son walked over and sat with the car until the tow truck came, dear man that he is.
I hate car problems! And problems with health, computer, etc...anything that disrupts daily life
It's a 21 year old car, bound to have some issues once in a while.
Me too Scrabbler, they cause me a great deal of anxiety...especially the car stuff...
But it's a Volvo, runs forever.
21 yrs old! How many miles? My father taught me to drive my cars into the ground but I get a new one at about 200K miles.
I think Gail you probably have also maintained that volvo well...
I had been to a book sale at the library in the morning, had a big bag of books to tote home. 160,000 miles on the car and yes, it is well maintained.
Red, so you are a planner, like me--we don't like uncertainty
I plan to get a newer one this summer, may move that plan up a bit.
I get very attached to my cars when they run well like this one did.
My Subaru is at 113K--hoping to keep it for another 4-5 yrs.
Generally, I am a saver as well. I find that Money solves many problems easily.
I think it's the dog hair and rust that holds this car together at this point.
I have a new Prius. I am maintaining it perfectly, and hope it lasts a long time, at least a few years longer than the loan anyway.
ooohhhh gail...now you're talking! A bag of books!
I am determined to create an emergency fund and car fund so that I can buy next car with cash and no loan.
Haha, Gail.
I can't pass up a good book sale.
smartt plan scrabbler. haven't had a car loan in years, very freeing!
Yes, I didnt intend to have a loan, but my paid off car sort of exploded....
I am a bibliophile too, Gail
Aren't we all? I still have to unpack that bag and gloat over them again.
Car explosion = not part of the plan, huh?
Books, Nice!
Ah yes, the joy of a whole bag of book adventure...
It was really awful, Scrabbs last April, with my Car loaded down for the big move, it had a massive timing belt ripped off on I 95.
I am almost done reading "The Poe Shadow" by Matthew Pearl.
so I had all this stuff in the car, etc...
Poor Red!
The thing about this breakdown was that I actually took a different route home and would have broken down on a busy street instead of the side street I was on. Oh, I had that timing belt issue years ago on the way to Boston.
Well, It's over now. So, alls well that ends well, it was an ancient car anyway.
just finished reading Left to Tell about the Rwandan holocaust...good, but now for something happy!
If you like mysteries that are really well written, read books by Louise Penny. She is soooo good.
Oh I think I may need to head to the library. I have been mostly doing mysteries still.
I have a huge shelf of books to attack but must decide what is next. I usually read one fiction + one non-fiction at a time.
I will check her out, Gail
She is Canadian and her characters and settings are so alive. And she is almost poetic. I would read her shopping lists if I could.
Try to read thme in order if you can, there are four or five, I think, and one sort of leads to the other.
Inspector Armand Gamache, I see, Gail.
hi all
Oh, I am in love with that man.
hi Ardilla
Gail Gamache--sounds right
Good morning.
Yes, I think so! He is the right age, too.
I would have to do away with his wife first, however.
is my word being do4/6 a bad omen for this grid?
Ardilla, I dont think tis so bad, I have 66 and just started a while ago.
*first word found being do4/6

hi ardilla.. I was trying to preserve some bananas. We cut them down before the freezes, and when they ripened in our garage, they all ripened at once.. banana overload!
wow!
oodle was coaching me as I have never dehydrated bananas before.. started yesterday morning
brb...left kettle on...whoops
well you can use those in banana bread if you haven't made it already... of course you can either freeze the over ripen ones or even make yummy banana bread

I'm sorry aloy :(
oh, don't be, oodle.. it was an adventure! (-: and I thank you for your advice, sincerely
I am going to get some bananas and try it myself and see how long it takes
well I feel badly... but it has been6 years since I last dried them.... i had to in fort lauderdale cause they repened much too quickly
ironically, we have a dehydrator up North - will have to bring it down
ah...I didn't have one that's why I used the oven and since I was going to move here I didn't see the need to get one and then have to get rid of it before I moved here.

wow, how could they not? Rome, ardilla, but only as her school home base. She will travel all around, I imagine. her BF is in Prague for the same block of time, so hopefully they can visit each other's cities
it's the first time she has ever left the US, so she is in for a real eye opening!
yes, tell her traveling to other regions/countries is a must
first time outside US -- ooohhh, what an eyeopener!
she must go to milan, bologna, venice, capri, verona, trieste while in Italy
I don't know if the school has day trips/weekends arranged or what...will see her tonight, and will def ask
and get her passport stamp from the vatican and san marino (they're separate countries found in Italy's borders
my father lived in trieste for 5 years as a young man...he loved the city
Hi guys!
hi beach

hi welki

two days....hmm....I am thinking....mr hate is taking the kids for april vaca this year, and I will have 7 days to myself....if I can scrape the dosh together, maybe I could treat myself to a visit?
neither am I, but the Sistine Chapel is simply gorgeous!
there have to be cheap flights somehow, right?
if she gets a chance, she should visit croatia...beautiful beaches
once you're in europe, ryanair has cheap regional flights
I just can't help but wish I had done that when I was a student - never had the chance....sleeping in the same jeans for six weeks, back packing everywhere....
Trif, that is exactly what my daughter did when she graduated from college..
well, i'm still too pampered to be a backpacker, i mostly did day trips and slept in my own bed...the train system is very easy to use
((((jealous))))
(((me too)))
remind me to stalk travel sites for cheap flights later....
being stationed in northern italy close to austria made it very easy to visit other countries...wish i'd visited spain and greece while i was there
"oompf" isn't a word?

the anguish of those people is beyond imagination
oh, dear, signing on in the midst of tragedy
the death and destruction from the hurricane is only the beginning for those unfortunate people
hello JBV and Jean,,,unimaginable
I didn't see what alst night's telethon raised, but the music was incredibly touching
they are dealing with physical trauma right now, but the mental aftereffects will be longlasting for anyone who survives
no it is a phenomena that is there because of how much death they had to deal with... such as the two boys being shot to death in the middle of the street just for stealing a bad of rice and left to die
earthquake
yes, but too sad, I had to turn it off after a while, it affected me deeply

okay - primo just came in here, and told me this story: his friend wilton was accosted by a mugger last night, in a seedy town a few over from here. the mugger said "give me your money!" and wilton opened his wallet and took out the entire two dollars he had, and offered them. The mugger said "that's it? $2?" wilton said yes, that was all he had, and the mugger said "DUDE! get a JOB!" and walked away, disgusted.
TY MONKEY!!
that's very scary, Trif - good thing he had a sense of humor
I know, wilton got very lucky, and it's very funny, at the same time!

but now I have 33 to find...
hi red. I still have 27 left to find. I'm glad you had a nap. Have you started your new job yet?
oh a nap *turning green with envy*
Monday I start orientation. and then...work, it sounds as if it will be almost identical to the last hospital, all the computer systemsa re the same etc.
thathelps. Not having to learn a new computer system will be very nice!
hello babblers. taking a wee break from working to try for the last 16 words
Hi fuquay. How are you?
a bit stressed with big work project, but otherwise OK. have you recovered from vacation?
I think almost, the nap has helped.
hi fuquay
hi nef
good luck with the big project!
anyone have all the P words? I have po4 and po5 and can't seem to get the third one
what did you do on vacation, red?
I need the right column o and the k for NBT plz
thanks, red. must get back to it soon, but giving myself a 15 minute reward
MM, the O has to do with ear; the K is like the Japanese drums
movie, one of the K words is like the kampground chain (do they have those in the UK?)
Hi movie, think of the american Campgrounds of America and plural it for the K.
help with other k?
dont have it!
why is ti 4/9 a word but not to**?
ty red
i just clued it, fuquay
ah, the other K rhymes with Dorothy's dog
ko 4/8 is Japanese drums
how about that other P, anyone have it?

I dont have the 6.

I had no idea until I looked it up. Probably will forget it by tomorrow, sadly...
congratulations Kari!!!
yay kari!
(that was my last word, too, kari)
we once went to the Mpls Institute of Art and the had the Japanese drummers playing there. I have loved that music ever since
hi all
hi kje
red - I met the puppy today... she is adorable! very sweet, loving... likes to just come sit with you and lean her head on you... and quite pretty
hi kje
here's a pic of a ko4 http://tiny.cc/HM3Pv
kje .. adopting puppy?! good news!
Wow! That's beautiful!
So you got her? Great!!!
no, they won't release her until Monday... shelter rule that they must hold a dog for at least 3 days to see if an owner shows up
but she will go to you on Monday?
and one other person showed up to check her out... a family with 2 elementary age kids (one boy one girl)
back to the grind. later, gators
that sounds like fair policy ... i'm surprised that they'd show her to potential owners before her waiting period was up
the shelter said they will review the apps and let us know on Monday...
bye fuquay
but I overheard the shelter lady say she likes to give animals to "real families with children"... so I guess I am not real... I am bummed
when adopting a pup these days, it's the applicant who must beg and do tricks
it is welki - and honestly, i found it annoying
definitely. I find it easier to now just find a pup through friends. Or in my case, Teulu came from a Horrors, breeder, because I had a certain desire.
some shelters carry it too far
well red, I thought I HAD found it through friends... until said friends went and turned her in
A breed rescue would have never let me have him as I have no back yard....
yes kje, thats just awful..
once, while visiting a promotion for a cat rescue, i offered to adopt two, a pair of adult cats that probably were brother and sister. they wouldn't adopt out both of them, insisted i take only one ... so i took none.
au contraire, red ... the gal who runs my favorite rescue takes ALL things into consideration. i have a tiny backyard and already had a dog when I approached her about murray (a border collie) ... i shook in my boots about the home visit, but it went well. she knows that our dogs get exercise outside the backyard
maybe it'll work out on monday and you'll have a new little girl monday night ... "real" families with kids often adopt spontaneously and, if the one they "want" isn't available, they'll go to the next dog
When I went to adopt a Golden from the local Golden rescue they told me they would only give me a Golden that was 8-10 years old. It does depend, but based on where I was, I could not get them to budge. A 10 yr old Golden wasn't what I felt I wanted...given that this is the end of their life span.
she was such a calm quite puppy, I think she'd be better in a home without a 9-ish year old rambunctious boy... just my opinion
i'd have a rough time with that, too (the folks who adopt/rescue/foster older animals are truly going to heaven)
kje, I think you just want her, and I hope you get her!
I would have loved to have a 5 yr old dog, but the ten yr old would have been so terribly expensive immediately, they all had cataracts and special needs.
the (shhhh) breeder that gave us baxter also prefers to let her dogs go to families, but we had a good long talk and i convinced her that a dog couldn't possibly have a better home than ours (the spoiled brats :)
I'll let you know Monday... I'll either be very happy, or too depressed to babble ; )
were you looking for a particular breed, kje? (because i could always give my rescue friend a shout and see if she's got any contacts in texas)
I did spend a lot of time with my breeder and I was going to adopt an older "retired female" but they wanted a huge amt of money for her and she did not interact well with me...
I think kje really just wants this particular girl...
then i'll be sending good thoughts down south for monday :)
Funny thing is that when I did get a yard, Teulu refused to spend any time in it, he is such a peoples dog.
not a particular breed... though there are some breeds I really like... I have wanted one for awhile and I just felt I would know it when I saw it... and she is it
can anyone help with the ma7?
I suspect the same with this one, red... very much a people person. More interested in the people than the kittens who were there with her
sort of like the netted thing you tie between two trees to take a nap in, pablo
like the rope bed used for relaxing, but with an M pablo.
kje ..... just read back in the chog ....... I really hope you get that puppy. Please put the outcome in your profile. (I might not be on here on Monday) I wish you all the luck in the world.

Hi Min
Hi Pini
that was from over year ago - Jan 3/09

*it is
I live in fear of getting hit in the head and being declared nuts because i got the year wrong :-0
LOL jmc!!!
(hubby is 'making' me watch the Barrett Jackson Classic/Collectible Car Auction. I'm drooling over the pretty, shiny cars)
jmc, don't worry, we won't let them know that it wasn't a hit to the head that made you crazy; it was a tough grid! ;-)
ooo cars i wanna go to the auto show with my son this year
lol thanks nef
lol jmc. I get that a lot too. For the month of January I make a point of writing out the whole year... 2010 insead of just '10
Every Sept we have something called the Langley Drive In... I will see if I can find the link
the nice thing about 09 to 10 is that when i write the 0 for 09 and realize my mistake i can slip the 1 in front and make it look like i knew what i was doing
down to 18 and turning into a slub
* slug
except if you put the 1 on the wrong side of the zero (like I've done all week)
23
that
sorry, it's call the Langley Cruise in www.langleycruise-in.com/
Pini, what words do you need help with?

Must expalin -- Olympics coming up soon, and I love the skating -- used to do a bit -- figures and ice dancing to the silver level of beginning.
Oh, jilli, I love skating too but right now can't appreciate it (head cold, can't concentrate well)

jilli, what was your icon for Saturday? I see the icon for tomorrow, but haven't refreshed and can't figure out what Saturdays' icon was
It was a Vivienne Westwood fashion figure -- a Harlequin design. She was/is rather unorthodox.
You coould Goggle her -- that's what I did.
*google, duh

I ca 4/6 back here to give a story, so here it is. I ca 4/6 here today thinking I would fa 4/8 huge grid, but I was happy to see it wasn't. I babbled as my dog sat at my fo 4/7. I did not mo 4/8 until I was done. Then I rewarded myself w/a sc5/14 of ice cream. Babbling always puts me in a good mo4/6 so I do not care one io 4/4 that I neglected house cleaning again. It's the sa4/5 thing everyday, neglecting chores. My husband always mo4/10s my excitement ov4/7 my fireworks. I hope you to4/8 in all my clues and found some more words and now I'm leaving to find a new icon. Ci 4/5!
