ty! I had such a fun night. Hubbuie organized a surprise party! So much fun
Hubbie that is...
how fun, geek!
Was a blast
lucky you, sci!
never thought he would do that! Anyway, too cool. None of my friends knew each other so it was very interesting
even the ex husband was invited
that was gracious, sci
good grief geek. the only thing i would invite my ex to, would be his funeral.
we are friends
oh granny!
good for you geek. can't make that step m,yself.
we have remained friends for the last 15 yhears. was married to him for 17
i need a new profile picture from a card a got tonight from a colleague.....moment....uploading
ditto he4, married that is. too many hurts along the way.
i understand!
so i am sipping wine in my NEW birthday wine glass...how fun
you know, it wasn't just me, it was the kids as well. b ut all over now, married to a wonderful man now, who has known me and been my friend for over 20 years.
wonderful sciencegeek
goodnight GrammaGum and Smokingtrash and babblers. I'm stopping at 88 for now.
mine husband is my best friend...look what he did ... invited all these folks and paid for dinner...he is a sweetheart
bye gee
night GG
nite geegee
he sure is, sci
he's a keeper then eh! sg
it's great isn't it? love and marriage second time around.
I hope so...
"Love is lovlier, the second time around..." they say
a keeper!
he spoils me
no doubt you deserve it sg
maybe maybe not
okay i can only play for a bit.....only 34 so far
ditto he4, geek. mine doesn't know when to stop. it's such a precious feeling, being cared for and cared about.
agree! what is the he4???? ,
a clue????
oh , you go he4 and there
a word in the grid
clue me then!
i dont see it
unless it is the easy one.....
it's the easy one
yes, you are he**
or there
right
hate any words that begin with a vowel
me too sci
LOL, you sound just like ursh, another babble player
there are several vowelophobes here
i know ursh! i suck at vowel words
over halfway
wtg, jilli!
my pet hate used to be re words, nowadays k and j words give my the horrors.
re suck too
still working on those granny
and co!
re words still bug me
I'm working on them right now :(
there are only 9 today, jilli
my stats look so odd right now
cant get the second re6
i have 19 left and it's one from each tile that has more than 1 possible word except for the corner o
flosey, think junket, curds and whey
tyty granny, junket did it
re words are so arbitrary -- perfectly logical ones are not allowed and weird ones are
ty granny
love junket
haven't had it since I was a kid
I still have an ancient box of Junket
yummy....have you ever tried plain yoghurt blended with jelly ( jello ) then allowed to set again, like a tangy flummery
goodness no, and what alovely word flummery is!
never knew what flummery was!
what is JUNKET?
a milk dessert
a milk dessert, set by rennet
aaahhhh, jilli!!!!
i remember mother making rice pudding with raisins and cinnamon
oops -- maybe there's some in the PB
pb jilli but ty
yum, sci -- great old-fashioned desserts -- remember floating island?
no - like an ice cream float?
nope -- soft custard with globs of beaten eggwhites floating on it
flummery, a fruit flavoured jelly mixture, thickened with flour, beaten until fluffy and allowed to set
I remember floating island, wasn't that meringue on a custard?
must be a British thing...never had it
yes, flosey :)
* groan * jilli, my waistline just disappeared
i have had a waistline in a long time!
haven't had a waistline in years
how about golden syrup dumplings?
have never had that one granny
oh stop!!! Suet puddings, yum -- spotted dick (no obvious remarks from the USA plz)
golden syrup ROCKS! Had a British student last year --- made a nice cheesecake with bananas and golden syrup topping
waistline? what's that
spotted dick! LOL
too l;ate, geek bought it!!!!
sounds quite exotic!
sci, you just made the expected obvious remark
suet pudding? like a plum pudding jilli?
of course, I am an American! What would you expect???? LOL
bread-and-butter pudding, queen of puddings.....
lemon meringue pie
now that's my favourite pie granny
no, flosey -- a steamed pud, flour and stuff, in a bowl, usually with someting in the middle like a lemon with holes punched in it and golden syrup around it.
but I'll pass on the b&b pudding
I know, I should be in bed and now I am entering into the "British" zone.....
love those too, granny
mmmmmm, my mum makes the best, she always uses lemon which are little on the tart side
hmmm, have never seen it jilli
Make the banana cheesecake thing with the golden syrup........YUM
I have the recipe
flosey, suet pudding is very Brit
It has a real name which I cannot remember. My Scottish student told me the name but being 50 I remember zero
will you share, please?
hi joey -- how goes it?
I can scan it in tomorrow. It is YUMMY
hi Joey
can anyone clue se6 please, tearing hair out here!
jilli!!! very, very tired. no energy. glad that this was the last chemo, i don't think that i could do another one.
Oh joey, thank god that's over!
wow, good for you joey, wonderful to reach the end of that
the British zone! LMAO!
Hey, Ata!
It is the "British" zone.....
i give myself about 5weeks to get my strength back
hellO, ata!
and hi :D
Will pray for you Joey!
ata, we've been following your icon themes, but YOU haven't!
thanks, all prayers and good thoughts are appreciated
Ata, like the new icon - what is it all about?
joey, you're going to feel better and better every day :)
i hope so. this is the pits
they aren't really mine, sprite was asking for suggestions so I flung fun ideas out at her :) And I have been on some of them ...
My sis-in-law went through that, joey, and felt just fine a bit later.
I shoudl really change it, it was just an experiment I wanted to show FM a few days ago!
very attractive and interesting, ata
i know, there are probably thousands of peeps who have done this and came out fine. i know it is coming, it is just bad because my mo is going downhill fast and needs me to help her and I just cant
flosey, I guess anyone who had the se6 & 7 has left :(
hmmm, unfortunately
so sorry about that, joey, but you must take care of yourself first
i have tried, but she is so helpless at the moment.
there, that's more geometric!
very nice, ata -- tapestry?
jilli, se6/7 combo word and its plural. se + a stuck up person in england
I wish! Wouldn't it look pretty? It's just a pencil thing
see, it is the British zone, what is a stuck up person in england?
don't know what a stuck-up person in england would be
or ( tennis ) game, *** and match + opposite of on
ty granny (lol!)
se6 - game, *** and match + not on
ty

ah, ruby, hello, hun
not there and listen! granny
lol, ruby, how are you going with today's grid?
did you get those two? just started, so don't know yet
* * FIREWORKS * *
yes, ruby. i'll let you babble along. time to prepare the vegghies, will check ion and see how you are going, ok?
hi ruby
WTG JILLI!!!
hi jilli
whet
whoops, sorry
still sleepy, is there coffee in the PB
it's a friendly grid, not many hidden surprises today. enjoy.
starting at the bottom, are you, ruby?
random at first, then I try to be more systematic
We all have our little ways
mine are still unformed....
I try for nbt first, then I allow myself to go to Lickety, go through that once or twice (picking up clues from the chat), finally go to morewords.
all of which is easier because I have Expert
first I go through the chat, then random, then in rows, then get dressed (lol), still can't use the lists
term
sorry again
why can't you use the list?
can't figure it out and too impatient to take the time. I printed lickety's list once and then just sat and looked at it. so I struggle along but still make small improvements each day
open Licketyin another window, shrink it sideways and put it next the the grid.
ruby, if you decrease the size of your babble screen , you can open lickety's list and have it running at the same time.
and are you using a Mac or a PC?
no kidding, I'll try that AFTER I get dressed
PC
Clue for the 2 wh7/48's please
then you can get Expert, which puts everything on the ame page and had the great Lickety Add box, where if you type one word it goes to the word list and Lickety's automatically, and if you type more than one word it goes to the chat.
the wh7s add to the wh5 before them
wh5/20 ( the second one ) + 2 letter words
add wh5's my h** ( thing you put on your he4, and ** and fro
I have to go to bed -- granny, will you tell ruby how to get Expert when she gets back? (By emailing Lickety, I mean)
no prob, jilli. sleep well , hun
thank you granny!!
yoou are both very helpful and patient
yw, ruby
Ah, there you are, ruby -- to get Expert, just email Lickety -- it's free and a lifesaver!
we we4 all newbies once. lol
I'll do that when I come back
but it's about 5 weeks!!!
so happy babbling and -- *poof*
Nite everyone. I've got fireworks.
what is Expert and what does it do?
WTG RUMPLE!!!!!
Expert is a piece of s/w written by Lickety. Puts Babble and his clue list on same page, with buttons so that you can update both at same time - or send words back and forth easily. Many other features as well. Email Lickety for a copy.
Hello all
thank you so much for the info
is expert also available for mac?
hgi lyn.
ty lynxx, you are always a big help; now, if I could only follow directions....
messo
sorry ConXshun, no

evening everyone, how is the grid today?
what a shame!
quite friendly, berri
hi Berri
I will not be put off, however! :)
need to go, dinner ready. see you all at the flip.
ConXshun, you do use the Bulk Add feature in Lickety? - nearly as good
bye granny
bye Rose, enjoy
we need an inhouse mac geek

goodmorning Miss Ata & Hobbit
and Silverclaw today
is mac geek scottish? lol
she's here trying to rip boxes to shreds
I was sooo excited when Bulk Add came in
yeah - where's all the babble-mac people?
hi Sily puss!
lol ruby!
Bulk Add is a babble saver for me!
she's being a nightmare today! but she was very smug in the night. Normally Hobbit claims me to flop next to, but last night for some reason Silverclaw got there first and she sat primly on my hip nearly nightlong looking very very smug
hello all need middle of the three n's for nbt - clue please
she is getting very forward!
Hi Ursh
she really is!
it works every time - ask for a clue and immediately find the word - tx anyway
nbt clue?
for you ursh, not for me...lol
nbt = no blank tiles - needed clue to get no blank tiles
ne4/4 - the loch where Mac Geek lives near.
Good morning/evening all.
ata, do your dogs smile?
hello haz
Goodmorning Haz & Spangle
very much so
ah, thnx ursh! lol, haz!
Hello, hello!
ruby has the dumbest (also cutest) smile, showing only her bottom teeth
awwwwww
I tried to put Max's photo in, but it was rectangular, and I think I have to change the shape
it should be ok, it'll only squash a little bit
now himself is stomping around but I'll be back later
xx
does the ad7/36 ahve anything to do with the ad's before it?
thats a sticky question ConXshun
adds a letter to a ad6
very sticky lol
lol lynx, thanks for the smile, I need it!!
btw, I invented a drink called the nessie: smirnoff, evian and a crooked tuscan pepper hanging over the side of the glass. looks like you-know-who
impressive!
and tasty
you are not having TOO good a time are you Ruby? what time is it?
ooooo silly me!!! there I am already having the ad 6 and 7!!! no wonder I couldn't find it! now looking for the 5 :)
phantom: tenrec
Time to go, back later. *gone*
who has ever heard of the pf word
well, now that yoiu mention it. Thanks!
commonly expressive 'words' are he4.5
yay i found an 8 all on my own
good for you, berri
no lynxx, too early in the day, even for me!
that was just because we were talking about things Scottish!
phantom: reductio ad absurdum
yay, half
The first half or the second half?
first half, I never get the second half lol
but still getting better
You are doing just fine
it is certainly fun and I look forward to it each day!
I get frustrated by the small grids .... many like them
I am happy if I can get half the words in either one and my ranking goes up a point or two a day
my first ranking was 260 and now it's up to 526! very gratifying
The nice thing about Babble is being able to define for yourself what success is.
exactly
and everybody helps plus the chats are interesting and often, very informative
finally NBT, but have 5 g/kids(9 and under) here who are FINALLY asleep, they haven't seen each other in person in 18 mths, but talk monthly on webcam
How nice.
you are so fortunate to have g kids
ruby, fortunate? sometimes no...lol
my son and his wife won't have any, her choice, and it's too bad for me (and for my boy)
I just wouldn't be able to lift them lol but could spoinl them anyway
instead I have this big dog who orders me around, just in the past week, she absolutely tells me what to do!
lol ruby, keep ya dog...better companions smetimes
at least I can tell her my secrets.....
and she doesn't blab...
78 words and somebody wants an aperitif and it's not either dog....lol
see you later
and what do you think they are doing when they bark incessantly and night??? blab blab blab blab blab :D ;-)
salut ruby g'day diz
see ya ruby
bbye ruby
I'm kidding
hi a oodle
diz ... you have fires this year?
or too early?
evening all
oodle, not where I am, more city side, but have been a few out countrywaise
waise = ways
oh ok ty diz... I pray you don't... now california is flooded... those poor people... if it's not fires, it's flood... sheesh
been prtty close to a few fires over the years but not enough to be evacuated...bloody terrifying
california floode...one extreme to the other...saw on the news about those house on the brink
I bet...I was terrified when I lived in ft lauderdale when it was hurricane season. That's why I moved to quebec city...:D ohhh scary and if you have a house on the river and it floods the house goes in the river and the property with it... I wonder what happens to their property when the river swallows it up?
back for a few minutes, making husband wait for his apero!
the river and the fires cllaim their victims...one has to be careful where they choose to live...
bonjour, oodle, didn't know that you had lived in Florida. We lived in Miami before we retired to France
This place has the most clement and wonderful climate -- real seasons, nothing too harsh and a VERY long spring. And, no, I don't Ruby tells my secrets...LOL
ruby.whats an apero...sounds sexy to me...LOL
yep... I came initially for school but since found out my french wasn't good enough
aperatif
NOT! Just an aperitif, pre-lunch (out) cocktail -- campari for him
tequilla and orange juice for me!
oh okies guys/gals
australia must be wonderful - warm and sunny and very nice people from what I see online! And you grow nelliekellie's, actualy my name
errr what are neltiekellie's?? sorry
she means nellie kelly passionfruit
I was told it's a kind of passion fuit grown in australia and new zealand. I've never had one
it tis a wonderful place...we have our probs, but home is where the heart is
ty arisha
is a variety of the black skinned passionfruit, very sweet though usually small in size
yummo passionfruit, can buy it in the tin at special delis
is in season now
I see passion fruit in the exotic foods market here, but they look rather intimidating
aah, I'll try one tomorrow
ruby. try one
just discovered pitaya 2 weeks ago; it's OK, but a little bland
just spoon it onto icecream Ruby, tart and sweet
do you just scoop it out?
try it, over ice cream or on merigue with cream ( pavlova)
yes

hi everyone
can anyone please clue the er 5/12?
it
it's ok I found it
Hi berri. I just found it too.
Hi lynxxx, oodleberry
Oh dear. I seem to have stopped the chat! Is anybody there?
No - I don't think there is.
I often question whether I am here, there, or anywhere.
Do we exist if we only lurk?
I think so. But then, I think "lurk" is an unnecessary pejorative.
Or possibly a comfort blanket of indulgence without engagement?
Babble is a game that does not require communication.
OMG. I have just been indulging without engaging. And I didn't even realise it. Wow.
Sounds much better than 'lurking', doesn't it? It's almost decadent.
I am enjoying it much more now.
Think of it as today's big achievement. I am.
Fireworks for me - nice indulging with you all.
Well done, Sue.
congrats, sue!
hey, soodle and BR :-)
just popping in and now popping back out -- byeeee *(poof*
indulging but getting nowhere!

;-(
morning Babblers - hope it's all good for all of you. Even a good day for Rafa as long as he's not playing Roger lol
bojazz, watch your mouth! LOL
oodle. I was stuck well before you came along !
if you'll recall, Rafa DEFEATED Roger in the Australian Open last year!
:-D
yes - a painful memory
bojazz, you have to admit, it was a fabulous match
but then I shouldn't have come along cause i made you more stuck...;-(
ok, zipping back out of the chog to see if Roddick can defeat Gonzo! byeee
but if Rafa wins again, it's ok - he's the best right now, i think
not exactly........ 43 now, so you must have given me a bit of a jolt in the right direction
à tantôt Une
who? moi? a jolt? I hope it was a gentle jolt.
absolutely.........could you do it again please !
uh ok forgot what I did now... um uh er (thinks of getting his taser but think that would be too much of a jolt)
it's working...40 now
wtg
man I have no 7's
so8/45 - cannot be found in the reference dictionary - not a word? does this happen often?
I only have two....... wh7/48 and ad7/36

Hi all, was soooo hoping for above 200 words today, but oh well...
of course bojazz..this is babble !
I did find one 8 already whoo hooo!
well done red
ok got one ty karys
brb
its an so 8.
so8 - a babblism? right?
I dont think so. more serious it the word...
thought as babblism was a word that "took" but not in dictionary
Oh I t may be, I am unaware of that term!
i got the word - looked it up - so what gives, i'm thinking?? but, whatever - it worked
indeed there is no definition! I guess that is a babblism.
ty for the so8
I learnt something new today!
Hi Mixi!
Hi Red! Started your new job yet?
tomorro I go for orientation.
good luck. hope it all goes well.
I think it will be fine. I should probably be more concerned, I knwo one of the other ladies starting with me from an old job, and the computer system is the same as my last job...
I may get a surprise though!
new job should be good. thinking good thoughts for you.
this grid is giving me a surprise. the first 75 were so flowing and smooth and now I have hit a jolt in the road...
bk
I'm at 95, need to list.
hello Oodle, how goes it for you>
oh, man, Gonzalez just trashed his racquet LOL
abuse of equipment Une.
Oh no. I feel asleep watching the skating last night, so will have to watch the recap.
I'm doing ok... going off to church in a bit
nice! I was feeling guilty this morning about my lack of church activities...
why how many do you do
o for years oodle.
I have not been in Church in forever, its really far away, so thats my excuse... but it is just an excuse.
what mix?
isn't there one closer where you could go?
hola mi amigas
Hi kje, tomorro is the big day!
My husband works till midnight and gets sometimes by the crack of noon. a little late for church.
excuses, excuses.
there isn't oodle, thats the odd problem with being A "Quaker" or a Friend. there arent many churches. But I could just GO to the methodist church or something.
I am trying to be realistic, red... the family will get the dog. I will likely end up having to buy one since people have gotten insane about adopting them
i don't go to church and i'm catholic
Well, kje, if you look around a bit and let people know, you can probably find a sweet puppy, but maybe the family wont get the pup!
I often see pups for adoption on the hospitals classified web site, I imagine your hospital has one too...
aww kje u didn't get him??
ok gotta catch the bus... later folks
byee oodle
bye Oodle, happy worshipping.
bye oodle.
I don't think the hospital has such a thing
I imagine it does kje, everywhere I have worked has one...ask someone.
k
but if you ask around you will find something, but first maybe tomorro you may be home with your sweet girl...
Ahhh I have NBT, how nice.
taking break!
NBT at 113.
kje, with doggy adoptions you *have* to think that you'll get the dog who is yours. If a dog you love goes elsewhere, then he/she wasn't *your* dog
and it's Roddick in 5 sets!! He's on to the quarterfinals vs. Cilic
and Rafa plays Andy Murray tomorrow -- what a match!!!!!
go Rafa!
oooooo that'll be interesting
indeed!!!!
go Roger
:-D
whatev, ata... the point that is annoying to me were the comments about how pets are better off with a "real" family with kids.... I just don't like having to be subject to the decisions of people who can make up rules as they go... any other dog, they usually just let go to whoever shows up first, but they received a couple phone calls on this one b/c my friend posted her on FB... so now, they are going to collect applications and "make the best decision" as they see it. I just don't like the arbitrariness of how they change up the rules
especially now Andy is actually technically as good as Rafa and Federer, just. He just doesn't have the confidence / track record
Go Andy!!!!!!
if more people show up Monday to look at her, I expect they will continue to hold her... they are just in over their head in a situation they don't usually have to deal with
MM, did you watch his match that just finished? fabbo!!
did not watch - listened from other room - not a fan of Roddick's
No, I'm waiting for the Murray-Nadal match on the morrow
oh, but bojazz, Roddick's doing soooo well -- such control -- I well remember when he was a major hothead on court!
whatever, kje. Just trying to cheer you a bit. Sorry.
atal that was nice..you are right
unfortunatley
thanks ata
so many shelters make rules up as they are going along. but yes, I would be fuming at the pet beinghappier in a "proper family" thing. Fuming.
it's sad
indeed, kje ;-(
but they don't really know the home the dog is going to
god i hate talking about poor dogs in shelters
just hit a raw nerve... being single sometimes sucks for different reasons, but there is a certain amount of discrimination at times I have gotten use to... like working more holidays at work b/c people with kids should be with their kids, etc... which I am happy to do in some ways, but I just don't like the assumptions behind it. The lady at the shelter just made the comment at a bad time
not surprised. Especially as some pets will be *much* happier with 1 person, in a quiet house, WITHOUT kids
No dog would prefer a home with kids! Hi everyone
having a dog has nothing to do with having a spouse
hi hoot
yes, this is a very sweet dog... maybe she'd rather not have the potential terrorization that can come with a 9 year old boy - LOL
i guve Roddick his due - can play the game, no doubt. just don't care for his demeanor. saw an interview once - really does "love" Andy
it isn't the dog having the kids... it's the kids having the dog
At least your shelter has people who care about the animals. Memphis is once more distinguished for screwing tjings up!
hopefully they just have enough sense to truly think of the best for the dog
kje i think you would make an awesome owner of that cute puppy
What kind is it kje?
a mutt...
if u weren't then u still wouldn't be talking about it!! you care
Best kind.
bojazz, I got to see him at a benefit match here in Nashville -- he was really delightful . . . playful with the audience, very sweet to some kids who had won a chance to hit a few balls with him . . .
kje it's a golden lab isn't it??
they all have their "moments" -- I'm just really happy for his current success -- he's worked so hard for it
mixture of lab, and likely some shepherd
glad to hear that about Andy - that side has not been seen here
Hello everyone!
i wish u had kept the pict on your icon
hi brook
Hi Joanne!
nah... don't want to keep seeing her for now... I get too attached
*refresh* just changed my icon to a new pic of silly sily
Sounds like a kid dog, and big enough (eventually) to fight back. But 9yo are just at the nasty stage
Ata LOL!!!
isnt that fab? :)
aaahhhh - cute ata!
reminiscent of the hilarious youtube kitty :-)
and let's revisit that! http://tinyurl.com/yas7qca
she was having such a mad spell that she didnt even notice the camera so got some fab pics
lucky you -- if mine see the camera, it's all over!

good to hear, angel :-)
hi angel
atal who's sily??
my cat
see pic
awww
omg can't stop laughing......sooooo cute
short for Silverclaw
like daughters cat
i call her princess
she's a comedy cat, which would offend her greatly cos she thinks she's elegant and beautiful
never cared for cats til i met her
lol ata... well, we all likely have similar elusions
I'm allergic to cats
all cats are a mix of comedy and elegance, I think
she was kitten when she came here and would sleep at our heads and purr
Hi Ata, kje and Joanne.
got bit older and the attack was on
hi hydra
That's Flad on my icon. All comedy, no elegance, I'm afraid!
the feet w4 the target
Flad! great name! :)
is that Flad Dracula?
i think atal
Short for Flathead. Though it was a Vlad the Impaler pun too, before he lost his biggest fang in a fight.
Ata, your cat has the most enormous paws I've ever seen!
it's hair yes atal??
she actually has very dainty paws, they are just stretched to their fullest there!!
Oh I see! Tell her no insult was intended. They looked like size tens!
she was trying to be fierce, I think :D
hate Js
ok scared...but hair is in transmode
Brill pic Aa!! Love it and Sily is smiling. Hello all.
hi, babblers!
On my last 12. All t's. Hi welki!
Hi Welki
FM! Welki!!
I so hoped you'd come on and see the pic, FM!
Hi All
A pefect Sily moment :)
Hi hego
I just emailed you another from the "photo shoot" :P
was downstairs cooking a late munch and am munching on it now infornt of the PC.
lunch and munch got mixed up there.
munch. munch..
mmmmm
Hi FM. Bon appetit
I'm drinking tea and munching yogurt coated raisins
munch your lunch..
d'you know, I can happily not eat chocolate, but I get very cross when people take away my yogurt-covered anythings. Especially bananas
Im eating some made sweet and sour pork, not exatctly standard Sunday fare but soooo good.
Wot! Yog covered bananas? Do they exist?
ooooooo yum!!
omg yes!!
Wow! Where can you find them? Or do you make your own? (Very messy, I should imagine!)
Julian Graves have them, and Holland & Barratt. I get mine from local farm shop, they get yoghurt coated everythings from somewhere
I got my raisins from H&B. I shall go in tomorrow and look for the bananas. Can't wait.
fresh bananas coated with yoghurt? or dried?
though people always seem to sell out of the bananas. Cos they're yummy lol
Aloy has lots of dried bananas since her experiment last week.
dried, coated with this stuff that's called yoghurt coating. Probably doesn't actually bear much relationship to yoghurt LOL
FIREWORKS!!!
don't you mean nanners?
yaay
yayy hydra
What was Aloys experiment with bananas? Or shouldn't I ask?
yay hydra!
*sigh don't remind me.
Hi bojazz
Hi bojazz
YAYYY!!! Hydra
Anyone need clues?
Aloys banana trees have fruited all at the same time so whe was looking for things to do with them.
hi there
have to go and 2nds, BRB
Well, if no one needs clues, I'll be off on a walk to break in my new trainers.
hi bojazz
Byeeeeee *poof*
hydra - can you clue em4/8 - worked on it for an hour - nothing!
hi welki

ElectroMotive ForceS
i'm thinking that, if my mind is clean in thought, my house should be, too .... automatically.
duh - i think i got! well i'm slow everyday, but moreso on Sunday

I'm very quiet today, Bo
i'm pulling my hair out - what's left of it :)
real poof
hi/bye hego
beautiful icon hego
How many words today?
147
Thanks.
back but not for long, am supposed to be working but getting tired esp after lunch, got woken up by the phone ringing at 5am this morning - a flipping fax machine!
oh no! how annoying
well it scared me first off cos call at that time of day usually only mean bad news but then couldnt get back to sleep.
not surprised! D did similar - came to bed at 4am and decided to wake me up and tell me
Im sure it is one of those marketing co's but as number is withheld no way to trace it.
oy what a m4 of the hair
nudge ... "you awake?" "I am now."
"yes, I am. THank you. Now may I kill you?"
"what are you so upset about? *mumble mumble - something about never doing anything right* nevermind, go back to sleep"
me maybe
hi welk
yep!!
i don't have a fax machine - not me
good morning
hey joanne .. your hair or your husband's hair?
hi lawyer
hello, lawyer
hi lawyer
FM, can't BT trace it?
any complaints this morning?
Hi lawerm welk, bo Jonanne. it's only the first time it's happened at an ungoddly hour Ata so haven't tried BT yet.
true. if it happens again, go to BT though! That's the last thing you need happening
which reminds me I must do the sign up to the opt out programme if I can remember the url.
fireflies1
www.tpsonline.org.uk
wtg owl!
*light bulb moment* Ican set up a divert from the phone to my virtual fax - and if they send anything through I will be able to get info from that. Oh thanks Ata, thats the one :)
Congrats hoot!
FM - check w/Google. They probably have it
tytyty
congrats hoot
yes, but then if you DO get an early morning phone call, you won't receive it ... which may or may not be a good thing
Plus - it was probably a mistake on their part.
phone picks up fax info diverts it to fax, phone rings with phone call the caller can leave a message.
marketing companies are evil here, hoot!
Here they cannot call between 9am and 9pm
you're clever :)
ahhh, sophisticated little system :)
without an invitation. Pick up reciever and lay it down and walk away.
marketing companies are evil anywhere. AND collection agencies
if you register with "do not call" list, you don't get any, anytime
I did work with telephony for a while but that was a time back.
in theory, bojazz :P
bo here in the UK if you register no UK call centre can contact you but the law allows centres outside the UK to call whatever.
don't get them at home or at work
Don't hold your breathe bo - we signed up twice and still get calls almost every day from a collection agency looking for someone we never heard of
y say if we are not so-n-so to hang up but it doesn't do any good. Now cancel the call the instant id shows
Thanks for letting me have a winge, am tired but must press on still have quite a bit to do today and the afternoon is passing. Happy Babbling and see you soon!
awwww *hugs fm muchly*
If they think they get away with it thay will do it.

once there was an island king who liked to have a different throne every month... he thought this showed off how great he was. a peasant man, wanting to win the king's favor, offered to take the used ones away. but he didn't know what to do with them. so he'd bring them to his thatched hut and store them in the attic where he would hang his vegetables to dry and so forth. then one night, he was horribly injured when the floor of the attic gave out from all the weight. he was taken to the hospital where the nurse admonished him, "people who live in grass houses shouldn't stow thrones".
cute
* giggle * good one, hursh
Good morning. *snorting at hurshy's joke* Awesome.
morning judi ;)
LOL hurshy - vg
hey jude..
hello everybody. I love puns, does anybody else like Chattanooga Choo jokes?
Choo choo, like chow chow
?? Never heard a Chattanooga Choo joke.
me either
The comparative extension of the so/6 does not sound like a legitimate English word to me. It sounds awkward...which is why I didn't try it a hour ago, I guess.
you're all too young!
*blinks*
Familiar with Glenn Miller but that is about it
lol llady
They had something to do with the songs with that title
I do have here a collection of 1940s propoganda music
So, hit us with a Chatt/Choo joke, ruby.
the jokes went around in the 70's, all ending with puns like the line in the song, "Pardon my boy, is that the Chattanoogah Choo Choo?" I'll probably be able to hear the groans from Australi and the US all the way to France
I think I smoked too much pot in the 70's to remember puns..
I don't think I smoked enough.
(or my way home)
po6/24?
Roy Rogers goes out for a ride in the brush wearing his brand-new fabulous boots. He is attacked by a wildcat who tears his boot to shreds. In a fit of pique, he shoots the cat, slings it over his saddle and rides back to the ranch. Dale Evans hears him coming and, standing on the porch says "Pardon me, Roy, is that the cat that chewed your new shoe?"
....BUT...
I can hear the painful groans -- sorry
Who's Roy Rogers?? Just kidding. *chuckling*
* giggle *
That song will be stuck in my head all day, thank you...
I smoked enough.....
Ruby that is oddly enough ringing bells the Chattanooga choo choo line. Gawd knows why
that happens to me all the time, really stupid adversiting jingles and such-like

The big game hunter went to Africa looking for something special to hunt. The guide told him about the lions and rhinos, etc. He warned him not to shoot the foo bird. "I f you shoot the foo bird, every foo bird in the world will fly ove and crap all over you." T hunter did not believe this. Out hunting, he saw a weird bird and thought it must be the foo bird. Throwing caution, he shot and killed the bird. Instantaneously, all the foo birds in the world flew over and crapped all over him. He looked awful. The guide warned him not to wash it off or he would die. The hunter could not bear wearin that waste, so he showered and died. Moral: If the foo sh1ts, wear it!
Sunday a.m.

I just saw the time
so5/16?
once upon a time there were two clams, sam and fred, who were best friends. they did everything together. then sam died. fred was very lonely without his friend. one night, in a dream, he found himself with st. peter at the pearly gates. "God has seen how much you miss your friend, and has decided to let you visit him for a night here in heaven. Take this small harp with you as a visitor's pass and have it with you at all times, and be back here at dawn." fred was delighted and went in search of his buddy. he found him and discovered that his pal had opened a discotheque in heaven! he danced the night away, having a blast with his old friend. suddenly he noticed that dawn was approaching, so he said a hurried goodbye and rushed back to the pearly gates. he arrived just in time, but when he saw st. peter, he realized he'd forgotten his pass, and cried out, "oh no! i left my harp in sam clam's disco!"
going out dancing and can't be late, lady?
so5/16 - so4/7 + vowel
Err no being a computer nerd. Nature is about to turn on the dawn lights and the stupid irritating birds

Hello all....Could u help me please...I tried to update my profile and and my new family addition, Florrie Jean Mac Fearsome(8 wks. old ) and now I have no logo showing and I am in black on the ratings page?
shopping is a good thing!
Hi Aebmusica
NB
congrats on the new addition, musica!
You know it Pini :D what a great day. How are you?
Plus my bio is gone?
(musica...try refreshing)
not too bad...
Thanks Pini
Hi, Hego :)
sometimes totally shutting down babble and restarting it works as well
also, check your settings to make sure "show profile" is marked in the upper righthand corner of the edit page
How do one refresh....? with liquid libation and munchies?
Sounds good, Aeb, but F5 will work just as well :)
up in your tabs you will see a circular blue arrow
I have an Apple ...don't know how to use tabs
I like your thinking, musica...drinks with munchies!
I like musi' idea better.
oh...mmm..ive heard people use those things still:))..sorry lol.just close babble and reopen it
(and check your account page - where you do the edits - to make sure "show profile" is marked)
Thanks all...here goes trying crosshair's suggestion.
i find babble needs frequent refeshing.
we will be here when you get back;))
and what pini says as well
I find that I need frequent refreshing. Ohhh what to cook this evening...
how's Leo?
I'm having osso bucco tonight MMmmmmmm
osso bucco?
what is that, Lil?
Hello again
look it up
It's veal or lamb shanks
scrabbs!
I make a great Osso buco, IMAO
{{Scrabbler}} how are you? How are you liking your job?
em 4,8 escapes me
((((Scrabbler))))
The meat is stewed in a rich wine gravy for hours and hours until the meat falls off the bone
Cwossy boy!
He's well thanks, Hego :) although might have a strained back from "helping" me with my shopping bags
Well I did get my logo back....but not my bio..... I closed Babble and then started it again...do i have to reset my computer, also?
I'm making homemade pulled pork ;)

Oh, yes NB ;-)
New job = better pay, less stress, less work--good switch.
I am so happy for you, Scrabbler

Scrabbler, it is well stocked today
I like my clues to be straightforward
I did that but my bio is no longer there.
Good work in that case scrab
brb semi-poof
odd, musica...should work then; try adding something, if that works, then some glitch probably emptied your profile...which means you'll have to readd
ty Pini will do when i finish puzzle.
sorry can't help much more than that...I'm stumped
brb
I am making us a big pot of tea
Thanks Mom
thank you Scrabbler
ummmmm..with scones and clotted cream?
It is a rainy, dark day here so no cross-country skiing or snowshoeing for a few days. We will have new snow Tues-Thurs--yay!
I don't have those he4, aeb
too bad...but thanks for the tea.
what is "clotted cream"?
think whipped cream...Brit style...u put it on top of jam with ur scone.
i mean thick...not think
but nicer. it's different. it has a crust.
Yummy--whipped cream!
hmmmm, imagining
Chocolate mousse---the ultimate comfort food! Hi Ata
I gotta confess...gimme a fresh baked warm crumpet with ricotta cheese and jam and I will have died and gone to heaven with each bite!
I just passed halfway!
that's how the Brits get their "peaches and cream " complexions.
hI aTA
and you can only ever have clotted cream over here. Do not let any American place con you into thinking you're eating clotted cream!!
Alas...so true!
I'll remember that, Ata! :)
How is it created?
I don't know...but it is thicker than whipped cream.
you heat unpasteurised cow's milk and then leave it in shallow pans for several hours
and the cream all comes to the top and it's extra yummy
sounds sorta like ricotta cheese
Interesting, Ata
no no tastes nothing like ricotta. tastes like extra rich thick cream
well, the thickness of a creamy ricotta with the flavor of whipped cream?
(I'm trying to narrow it down so my imagination doesn't wander too far)
yes, we can go for that :)
and it's not fattening on Sundays!
and for some reason, I have never seen proper clotted cream in America
nothing fattening on Sundays!
gads...all this talk and I wish I could have a crumpet!!
(I've never heard of it over here, ata)
you can get Devonshire cream, and ppl say it's the same, and it soooo ai't
Maybe the Amish can make it?
oh - I wonder -
is it because you can't keep it for long / reconcstitute it / does it go against some health & safety thing?
well, they do have unpasteurized milk
cos it's unpasteurised
hmmm true
can u make it with sterilized milk
doubt it
hello everybody. I'll contribute homemade jame to the scones and cream!
ty Ruby
http://www.roddas.co.uk
I have plum currant and blackberry from last summer

Hi Seain

hello seain
hi Scrabbs - no that was Naples in Florida, not Italy (alas)
hi, red
Naples Fl is not too bad!
hi DC.
true enough, red!
Hi Red. Tell us about your new job.
Silly me, Dan!
Starts on Monday. the same as the old job, just different building.
tell us about your skiing!
hello!
someone went skiing? where?
Hi Harp, Scrabs has been skiing for much of the winter.
It was perfect yesterday--sunny, high 30's, no wind, packed powder snow. So we did 3 loops and each loop = 2.2 miles.
Hi Jane
I am not losing weight yet, despite my intense exercise and careful eating. Grrr.
that's so annoying!
I lost 2 lbs in the last 3 wks, but I want it to come off faster!
where are you skiing scrabb?
and sometimes you build muscle (which means losing inches!) without losing pounds!
well you know that's a perfectly sensible rate of weigth loss!
are there any oj or aj words?
Back again
I know that I am shrinking in size but I want to see results on the scale.
aj4
Scrabs you may be adding muscle with the intense exercise.
There is a county park nearby with groomed trails in the woods and a warming hut with a wood stove---wonderful place that I spend much of my winter.
I did 6.6 miles yesterday and felt fine after---my conditioning is improving.
wow!
doing a lot better than me, scrabbs...I swam today for only 3o min and was tired after...
Hi Red
hi hego, I like your rainbow.
lol I tried to walk the mutt the other day and nearly fell over after about 30m. But I had just had an hour of chiro beforehand!
I have the so 8, what is the other 8 please?

Hello pini and soodle and all. Just starting.

I am just playing a little before the playoff football games start.

Veal blanquette sounded awfully delicious. We don't eat much veal.
I'm just starting, and I know I will bitterly regret not hitting kje for clues.
I have 4 to go...so can help if needed
I'll stick around for awhile to clue, soodle. I'm working on my computer, so it's a good diversion.
last re5?
Ta Pini - but like I said, I'm only starting. So, I need about 145 clues lol
Sometimes it is just too soon to know where the difficulties lie in a grid. For me they are from corner to corner but I think others are much more adept.

em4 = em + pl
it's a plural, if that helps jay
em & ph sounds
em + *ire *tation
Lynn - in case you ever come over this side of the world - that te 6/18 is not half a pound - its ten of them. (I'd hate to see you getting robbed!).
em + tooth *airie* bring kids money
good lord! Thx!
hi Soodle - what was a 10 shilling note called?
that's good to know, soodle...I've never been able to figure the "pound" system ;)
Ten Bob, Lynn!
I hear ya', Jayk!
And no wonder it says "no dictionary results"
how about the so 5/10? No doubt it also has a f
Hi Jay!
pl the so4 before it
(no f)
Hego! Thnak God you're here!
so5 plural of the so4.4
Actually that's a pretty easy one! :o) the bottoms of my shoes have so 5/10
there are 3200 Moslems in Haiti, fyi
again, a very sad brain deficiency!
mostly of Moroccan descent
Harp--why did you want to know?
Thanks Soodle - guess these old memory cells are dying - could have sworn it was that te6. We changed from Imperial to metric in 1972 so I have forgotten
No bother at all, Lynn. But, you could be fleeced this side of the world if you mixed them up!!
!! not 1972 - 1964 - see, forgetting everything
no doubt I'd be fleeced if I left the USA again
Well, we had a big collection in our Catholic parish today for EQ relief, and it got me wondering whether any of the islamic relief organizations have a presence there. The Red Cresent is the Middle Eastern version of the Red Cross. Just curious
And do they, do you know?
I thought it would be a nice show of humanitarianism if we made a donation to an islamic organization that is helping in Haiti
Thats nice, Harp. My goodness - the poor misfortunes need every bit of support they can get.
Is the Red Screscent helping Haiti?
hi inge
Fireworks!
wtg hego!
You go, hego!
Yay Hego!!
I love gray!

Pini - when I looked at ur first re clue, I saw 'Fat Pig', instead of pig fat.... I got an awful fright!!
Amazing how completely blind to the obvious a grid can make a person
r4 = r + anagram of golf peg
* giggle * sorry, soodle!
re6 not pig fat! calf stomach lining used to make cheese
re5 = re + pro *** (legal word)
sorry, lynxxx (that was the best I could do) * grin *
Hi, babblers. When the US was supplying West Berlin with everything, they culd organize better, since there were no other nations involved. they loaded the planes at the Frankfurt airport, enotued \them in /berlin and then send them to Hannover to be roeloaded. The Size of west Berlin and its population was probably as big as Haiti is now.
that's the one I'm missing. the calf, the pig. Any less agricultural way to put it?
no
great
wow, inge...interesting!
It's agricultural.
Jayk - look end the end of Pini's clue
yeah, jayk...turn the british "two fivers" around
The Berlin airlift was one of the most famous feats a nation ever undertook.
And it was a sucess too.
hi Inge

***der the fat from the fish*** stockings
That's wonderful, Inge.
i'll be damned. My problem was I kept wanting to put an re in front of it!
right in front of me.
that won't work.
Glad you got it.
OK, I've only been doing this for a couple of months (very long ones, it seems) but I've never seen a "tion" in the grid. is there ever?
Hey...got a question...has anyone been playing that Funny Farm game that DC found?
yes, jayk ;)
Yes Jake, not so long ago
those must be my fish*** stockings tou're working with Pini. LOL
Oh Pini - Funny Farm is breaking my heart
Oh, good.
Yes Pini, still doing it occasionally
me, too...was wondering how far along others had gotten
Judycioca plays
Oh good. And no, Pini, not me. I can tell from the chat that that way lies madness
I've "opened" 8 blocks so far; is that good?
We're ready for the funny farm as it is.
I'm probably about 75% done, doing the Food one too
haven't seen the food one...
well, that, too, hego!!! LOL
well YOU're not, Hego. I am
No more games for me.
This is enough.
do you have a link, lynxxx?
You seem very well balanced to me, Jay.
Oh, not that one, I closed that, it was boring. I'm doing the word and food ones. Only 4 blocks each but much more related words. Will get them for you
More than. I am afraid to think how many hours i am devoting to this
Aren't they on FB?
Thanks Hego. But not very balanced to get those last res
not that I know of, hego
de5/12 please
That's where I found it.
http://funny-farm.appspot.com/game/lin x - then change linx to food for the other one
I didn't know there were smaller versions, lynxxx...the Funny Farm puzzle has 25 blocks (I've opened only the 8)
tijani, add a hook to the de4 before it
Clue tijani, Pini
I did, hego! *smile*

hi all
hi nrkii ;)
lynxxx, I can't get that link to load properly... this is the second time I've tried
linx on the end?
yep
I get an empty white box on the right, a minimap of words on the left, a "Your Guess" box below the minimap, and an Ads box that doesn't load
http://funny-farm.appspot.com/game/foo d OR http://funny-farm.appspot.com/game/lin x
oops, that probably didn't help much

I know that is ridiculously long, but if you copy and paste, you might get it.
oh, my, soodle!!!!
nrkii - did white come up in the centre?
you can shrink it by using tinyurl.com
What can I say - I never got the hang of the tiny url thing....
Pini - I don't know what to say, I used that url just then and it opened for me
soodle...here's the tiny version: http://tinyurl.com/ya994fh
that seemed to work
oh good...have fun nrkii, Ist clue elephant
tehy're in my profile, too

I got one word on the food grid!!!
hi dc!!
Here's the boy to blame! hi DC
which i know i'll be cursed about for to my dying day :D
Hiya DC :)
hello, pini , lyn ,soodle, nrk :)
gotta add the FOOD puzzle, too, DC :)
oh, and gorgeous photo ;)
I don't see much fun in entering random 5 letter words endlessly in case you get lucky. What am I missing?
which is that pini?
DC the food address is the same as the word, but change linx to food
http://funny-farm.appspot.com/game/foo d
oh, is is that kind of grid then?
The words are associated Sally not random...a bit like compounds sometimes
it's rather addicting to kill some time...and I've been conspiring with a friend in Australia and filling in blanks...it's lead to some great fun conversation ;)
ok what new torture - er game haveyou come up with?
<-- love any kind of word game! ;)
See DC's profile TOwl
hi, TO see my profile

no i did not like the movie
going to try and find some words for a bit...will check back in a few to see if clues are desired ;)
Made from potatoes up in the hills of Connemara, TO. Still a very active industry - and vigorously policed by the authorities. Used to get drunk, and remove stubborn paint!
It's nice to see the old crafts carried on

hi, folks .. can clue for a while if you need some

hi Welki

< is indulging in one of life's pleasures, nutella spread on ginger crisps
ever made a nutella panini? :D
How decadent, Welki :)
totally one of the best sweet things ever
better than on crispy thin ginger wafers?
ate too much a few months ago. i am off it
never tried it with ginger wafers, mostly cause i usually eat the wafers plain, so adding to them just usually does not occur to me.
the cookies are made by a swedish company called Anna's .. they're the best (well, maybe second to Dutch windmill cookies)
i have seen them in ikea and also in dollar tree
and other dollar type store like big lots
ah, yes, IKEA sells Anna's wafers
those ones are very tasty
i avoid ikea like the plague, so have never seen them there .. sobey's (supermarket) carries them
Now see what you started, Welki????
have recipe for ginger cookies made at robert e lee's childhood home. yummy
soodle, this started in 1994, when an italian internet friend turned me onto the combo :)
that's really cool, TO
ginger butter cookies
Usually when I read about what Babblers are currently eating, I gain about 14 pounds just by reading. however, I just don't like nutella, so I feel very sanctimonious, (and slimmer)
time to think a bout dinner and also to hit the stores before they close.
njoy, TO
I've been making Anzac biscuits lately, very sweet and morish
i didn't think i would like nutella ... but i promised to try it and hold italy responsible for my roundness *lol*
bye TOwl
seain, b4 i go - what is so speical about ellicott city?
charming little town with a decent restaurant and a nice arts/antiques district. Historic Mill Town and seat of Howard County.
i met someone who went on about the energy of the rocks and urged me to go.
just looked up Anzac biscuits ... cookies with a history! and they look deeeeelicious!
oh, on that count, yes, i can see that. Much history, bedrock poking through around the river, and it's dowstream from the dam, so still largely unsullied.
Just put a recipe on my profile.
i just saw it, lynn :) my oldest daughter's arriving wednesday (with 8 mo old grand-daughter). was planning on coconut cake, but make anzac biscuits now :)
what a nicely simple coconut cookie recipe
make = maybe
desicated coconut?
Yes
Sorry, that is finely grated as opposed too shredded which has longer strands
dried, unsweetened coconut works for desicated coconut, TO
trader joe's?
nooo, just use shredded unsweetened
or get flaked .. that's smaller than shredded
yes to both TO and welki :)
or ... you can chop it fine yourself
or ... we can all make a trip to lynxxx's and just eat her anzac biscuits. more authentic anyway LOL
and before it is asked...golden syrup is LIGHT corn syrup
You are all welcome, though you had better get here quickly
Lyle's Golden Syrup is available here, and is a cane syrup rather than a corn one.
And, Lynn, while your at it, flavour it with the illicit Irish hooch LOL
we have roger's here .. also cane syrup. karo is corn syrup.
Lyle's is the one. Sorry meant cane not corn
illicit Irish hooch?

Southie, officially South Boston, is the scariest place i've yet been. It's the Irish neighborhood in Boston, Massachusetts.
Haz! I feature in your profile. i am truly honoured. (Sarcasm font optional)
see - and if DC says so it must be true
I'm pleased that you're pleased, Soodle.
I had noted your comments during the big freeze.
DC tried to pass off the funny farm game as an amusing little pastime....
in fairness lyn, most are as Irish as i am, meaning not at all.
it's a giant time sink, haz :)
I have 2 P4 words... is that all?
I'm not saying he stretches the truth, but you need to keep an eye on him.
Just the 2, nrkii.
yes nrkii
okay, so missing a p6 and an h4
pt6.21 perhaps
Think creatively for the second letter of a p6.
for p6, I have po6/21, po6/24, and pt 6/21
Darn.
another po6.21
Haz, if ever sarcasm font was needed, it was during the big freeze, and my reference to global warming. But, theres no sarcasm font, so there was misunderstanding. But, hey, I get to feature in your profile, so all is not lost!
thanks, looking now
Oh, I entirely understood your frustration, Soodle.
hello haz!
Hello TO!
found it!
1 more... h4
fireworks!
did you get into trouble, soodle?
Well done!
congrats, nrk
Hooray for Nrkii!
wrt nrk :)
yay nrk!
and I dont care what the thermostat says, I'm ccccold in this house
Welki - 'in trouble' is my natural state!
must go see about blanket or mittens
leaky windows
or just dampness? raining yet?
raining, yes
sweaters and lap rugs are your friends.
and extra socks
indeed, nrk
okay, I'm going
bye all
happy babbling
i mus tog get anti humidity stuff for tomorrw or my hair will arrive at work before i do
mine, too ... and then, when i get into trouble because i've spoken my mind and my mind is actually found to be in good working order, the ideas i originally had are always claimed by someone else! so i get into trouble and never get to enjoy the benefits!
Bye nrkii.
it's rained less here today than forecast, but it's supposed to rain into tomorrow.
(poof)
wow, that was some whine :)
*breaks out cheese platter*
Is this in the chat log, welki, or just life in general?
ty, owl ... always helps to have a little snack with my whine
quit work early and have done nothign but babble and fb
That sounds like a good sort of day, TO.
be well, nrk
I think the US needs a few days of sunshine to get them all happy again
i rarely get into trouble here, haz ... i try to keep my comments as innocuous as possible because i've learned my lesson (here, anyway). in real life, i'm a pistol :)
sounds like a nice day, TO
must get shoes and dinner. no cumption though
or gumption either.
lol Welki
I'm getting better at not getting into trouble here, as well. That Henry Kissinger Diplomacy course has been great.
i credit "How to Win Friends and Influence People," from the Dale Carnegie course on lameness *lol*
72TO, loved your statement at 3:41. I can identify with that.
<-- is a bitc%^y old broad in welki clothing
don't fret welk. nice ness is overrated.
I am really poofing now. Thank you all for the clues, support and general babbling. Night all. Poof
'night soodle
Toodle-oo, Soodle.
'Niceness is overrated' never appeared in any of our set texts at Henry's.
no doubt
i have pretty good spidey-sense when it comes to people ... but it comes around and bites me in the backside every time, until someone else confirms what i suspected. so until that happens, i'm just the ol' crone who can't play nicely with others
Is Mr Haz out gallivanting again?
No, he's sitting in the kitchen reading the paper and eating.
Hi Mr Haz!!
hello ata.
hi Ata
and hi everyone else :P
I'm realising that I should have told him that there's a TV programme on about the Rift Valley.
ok, off to the mall. i hate being FORCED to purchase something
hi, ata (today, my husband knows where ketchikan is and that i'd like to go salmon fishing there ... we'll work it slowly)
oh have you all taken the "what olympic mascot am i " quiz?
Hope it's not too painful, TO. The shopping, not the quiz.
is groundhog an option?
it will be. clothing taxed in this god forsaken state.
BBL walk time
bye, lynn
Is it not taxed everywhere?
See you, lynxxx.
guess i should be moving, too ... things to do, people to aggravate :)
only miga, sumi or quatchi. i wanted to be q but i am s
very good welki :)
We know nothing about aggravating people, do we, Ata?
no haz, varies by state. this state taxes EVERYTHING
Bad state!
nothing at all
do you like my Sily cat pic, Haz?
It's extraordinary.
She looks as though she's testing a mirror or something.
Ata, that's adorable!
just out of shot is the object of desire - her fluffy mouse
love the pic ata. here is a link to my hotel neighbors who had a very rowdy party above me lst night. or at least the parents did. http://jumpropevideos.com/2009/04/07/k ings-firecrackers-jump-rope-team/
The words, jump rope team and 'above' kind of tells the tale.
ty NB :)
what time did they settle down?
really you should watch
after 4 am
very odd but very clever!
I don't think I'd have made it into that team.
nor me
Do they sing as well?
Hobbit might have done
They're at the BIG skipping rope bit.
do you not skip rope over there?
only in playgrounds when you're 6!
Yes, but ours is more the skip six times then trip over the rope variety.
They certainly don't go in for mass skipping like that.
the government would probably be called and the school quarantined for some mass hysterical disease if a whole class of skippers were seen :P
had the plebes and middies standing. but then again they wer probably drunk. i liked when the girl jumped 10 with one rope
Yes, and the children might be damaged if they were made to everything the same way. No room for individual expression.
*to do
good point
It's really impressive, TO.
I love the gorilla cheering them on.
we have competitive jumping, mostly double dutch. big urban sport for girls
So, it's a big thing generally or in particular states?
i nhave never seen a precisiohn/exhibition team before. but double dutch is big in urban areas. the king firecrackers have been on cnn and other shos
would never have thought of synchronised skipping!
They're pretty brilliant.
better than most summer olympic sports.
Anyway, time I was off. TO, hope you get your shoes without too much hassle and at acceptable price.
And Ata, I'll see you tomorrow.
i am glad you enjoyed them bye haz and all!
Byee!
hi babblers! taking a break from work for a few more words
bye dear!
hi fuquay!
hi ata!
I see no one's been dumping their whole list into the chog recently. Guess I have to work at this...
Good Afternoon everyone :-) just finished and be happy to help anyone out before I go watch some tennis!
congrats, april! I'm missing an O word - have of4, of5, of5.
Do you have of6? If not it's
oops...
aha, of6?
of6? ooo
dumping lists?
of6=opposite of on + game, ***, match
yes, red, to my undying chagrin, I copied and pasted my whole list into the chog the other day when trying to put it in BabbleExpert..... blush
ask fuquay, red :P
ty, april!!
yw!
it was amusing
wow! that was an event indeed!!!!
thought I might be exiled from babbleland forever, but folks were fairly kind and chatted away extra chattily to move it out of the window....
yu're certainly not the only one to have done it¬
if i had only known, i probably would have peeked!
funny enough, some did, and then proceeded to complain that I'd made it too easy
Ha! I would probably never admit to it. I loathe to admit when I have gone to the list, but its always obvious as I start asking for clues with point values!
I remember someone dumping a ~400 word list in one day
that makes me feel better
I am sitting here all by myself giggling and blushing for you fuqua, so I may as well say hi. Hi.
hi mich!
Hi Mich!
Hi red, fuqua, Ata, etc.
I am finding more phantoms than words in the grid today.
help with right side R? have re4 and rh4 from there
Yesterday I was determined to do the grid without the list, and ended up searching the chog for clues....
melon, lemon, etc
fruit, hmmm.
What does say about me red?
Oh darn, I thought it was a clue for Fuquay, and was searching for fruit in the grid!!!!
No, but maybe you'll be haunted by melons and lemons as I am.
I tried melon a few times...
see?
Do you have the re6s?
Olmert is in there, for those of you up on Israeli politics. You do not want him haunting you!
I have two re 6's both redoing type words...
have 3 of them, but they're all from the other R, april. are there more?
No I do not!, yesterday we had Osama...
I have 2, april, one builds on a he4 and one on a re4. Both are to do the act again.
only one rh?
do you have re5=14 to take up your shorten your skirt again
Oh, red, Maybe we should have them me4 in a grid one day! We had Obama one day last week.
yes, only 1 rh
that was it! thanks april!
wonders if that would block up the grid!
More likely blow up the grid
true true.
I am watching the recap of the skating from last night, some of it impressive, some of it, err not. Sometimes I can not stand the frills the men put n.
OK, must get back to work. Happy babbling to all and see you later or tomorrow!
fuquay, i want to talk to you sometime i have a good friend who lives there!
hi everyone
Hi Pipping.
Hi Pippi!
looks like a nice grid today
good, i could use some happy vibes after the stupid drama of my workplace
well, it is fairly good, until now, I have 31 le** and am just sort of struggling. I soon shall get list.
24 and ditto
well, I am proud to be down to 29 but still, not easy. mostly picking off simple misses so far.
aren't plurals great?
indeed!!!
19. that feels a little bit better
can I get some help withthe le** top O. I have the spanish cheer...
lots of o's in there :)
red, plural spanish cheer
oop, sorry
yes, that is the one I have pippin.
I can not figure out the other one, just want some stats on it...
I clued it!
os4/4
thanks ata, I am going to fin it NOW!
ooooooooooooo = os4/4 :)
finally!!!!!
yes, nbt for me!
13 minutes is my fastest ever nbt, that makes me proud
good job Pipping
now i deserve a caipirinha!
you go for that Pippingeek.

mmm - what about ***p weed
hi eveyrone
hi
hi oodle
G gum
I would like to know where people got their brains so I can go and get one like it. The one I have is a lemon.
how was church Oodle?
it was good ... actually I thought they were going to preach on something that has to do with Haiti and giving but maybe that is just wishiful thinking... although pastor did say that there is a place that you can go where you can say specifically where the donation goes.
glad you enjoyed.
*goes to rummage in the grid's attic to see if he can find a better brain* *sigh*
Re 6, 18 help please?
what they put in cheese
thanks Oodle!
your brain is working fine.
yw
re 6/18: you pay your landlord ***t + hit the ball over the ***
Ty also Buff.
oh dear. i don't babble nearly as well when i'm drunk. such a lightweight!
in the jungle the mighty jungle the lion sleeps tonight.
te 6, 18?
revers the re6
hi all...just checking in to see how its going..
hi pinikula!
hiya pip ;)
different te 6, 18 sorry.
te8/45 please
compound, tij
the 2nd te6 is a pl of the te5 before it
without spe ific lengths of time
thx pini
that should have read "specific"
oops thanks.
yw ;)
te8 = te4/5 + le4/4
te7/28 please last t word
te7 = odd spelling of large soup bowl
Sounds like the large vessel you put soup into - but spelled differently
i dont know guys
ty buff!
te & dbl cons & dbe vwl & coNs
te7 = ***rible (bad) + **lax, don't do it + **try way
thanks lynx
or what lynxxx said
yw Lady Biotch, and welcome to Babble
phantom semester driving me crazy!
* popping back out - back later *
common over everyone! cooked up a roast beef, mashed tatties, baby carrotes and 3 muffin trays of yorkie puddings;))
You can have half Pippingeek
haha lynxxx
thx got it
on my way crossjhair
ooooh Yum Cross - haven't had Y'shire pud for years and years!
too full crosshair for me it was carrot cake first and then made lasagna....plus 4 loads of laundry
FIrworks!
think I need my jammies
Congrats Red!
my usua turkey burger here...
what's in yorkshire pudding?
i already had salmon cakes, a caesar salad, and brussels sprouts
puppies
lol, biotch
ok...glad you have a sense of humor because I was going to say "YUK" to salmon cakes and brussel sprouts lol
i know most people hate the sprouts, but i love them - even more than dessert!
if done right that sounds like a great meal pippin, but brussels, one must be careful...
sprouts nice w. grated nutmeg
i like them almost any way, but my fave is roasted with a little salt and balsamic vinegar
butter is nice too
balsamic whilst cooking or added after?
actually i like a little of both, because it carmelizes during cooking but then adds that sharp acidity after - but it can burn whilst cooking so best to keep things moist
pini?
TY I'll try it
both wh7/48
one is a compound asking location
wh7 both compound - the end 2 letter words change
both are wh5/20 + preposition
both are wh5/20 + preposition
*********FIREWORKS******************** **
hi Une
thanks for all the clues yall
congrats, tijani!!! and howdy, lynxxx :-)
Congrats Tijani
Well I managed to drag that out for much longer than I should, better go and start my day. Bye all

ohhh I thought he already had him/her
he should be picking him up about right now :-)
oh duh
boy... you did say boy = him
yep, Dylan ;-)
*continues to rummage in the grid's attic for a brain that works*
LOLOL!!
somepeople plead temporary insanity?
I plead NO BRAIN
:-D
temporary insanity right here!
you and the scarecrow :-)
*cries in the corner*
i think it's appropriate. i did burst into tears at work after 2 people yelled at me for doing nothing wrong
oh, pip, you don't have your catasaurus icon any more!
no, i figured i would go for the "geometric things" theme
aahhh, gotcha
um... I still see the catasaurus
i was tempted to put the old xray of the screws i had in my ankle, but figured i'd save it for later

May I please have a clue for re6-21 the first? Thanks
pinny, try another spelling of a large vessel to hold soup
thanks pippin! fireworks :D
what you do to soup that's gotten cold, peach
hrm, apparently i have soup on the brain!
Thanks much, piippingeek.
evening all
FIREWORKS!:-) I'd been signed out of Babble (by another member of the household) and thought I'd finished, but had a feeling that I hadn't. Signed back in 10 mins ago to find 34 words still remaining to be found. EEK! Done 'em now.
Hi there, dan2bit.
woo hoo Jac!
Hi Dan.
ah, sweet, the he6/21's are the same as the wh7/48's
Pippin - wouldn't soup on the brain clog your thinking a bit? :-)
congrats jac!
it might just keep my head nice and warm!
te 7/28 clue pls...last word
try another spelling of a large vessel to hold soup
LOL, Pippin.
Brain poultice, eh?
thanx..done!
it's been a crazy day, i could use a brain poultice
Hothe4. *grins*
Well done kim m.
it's bad cluing the same word in the space of 2 minutes...
congrats kim!
i was actually not a hothe4 at work today, but still got yelled at by 2 people for someone else doing something wrong and me fixing it
That's the way of the world, Pippin. *sighs*
I was just wondering, having typed the word 'poultice'm why something that emits warmth ends with something cold like 'ice'? Random.
YAY Jac!
hah. always the conundrum. tho that's one i had never considered
Hi Stid. Everything okay with you and yours?
sorry I wandered off, had a sudden insight how to do something for a paper this coming week.
yay for paper insights!
May I please have a clue for re6-21 the 2nd? Thanks.
what you do to a book you've previously enjoyed
A lightbulb in the brain moment, Stid. They're good, aren't they?
(and i don't mean burn it)
listing with 46 to go... (yes, very yay pippin, somedays it's impossible)
revile?
gremlinn!!! *stern literate mama look*
oh, grem, you don't revisit books you've loved?
You might want to look at all the words again, gap. The words in the book, that is.
I was just trying to think of a re6
i think a v is worth way more points than that...
how fishy is that ET?
Thanks, y'all.
Stid - I don't if it's a whodunnit? I already know whodunnit.
go peach go!
actually stid i got it pretty quick, that was my nbt word, but it's .. not entirely common
funny, stid, i've been lurking and I have 48 t ogo..stil missing hte lone e for nbt though
go PAV!
Thanks, stidmama. Just need one more...wh5-20 the first please.
try a shortened version of the beginning of a famous love song? (more specific clues if you want)
peach, it's a grain!
peach...do you have the grain?
NM, just found it. Thanks to all. Sweet dreams everyone.
actually that's not a love song at all, nm
YAY peach! (sweet dreams)
ah, found the ET .
yay stid!
PAV - e + m* ( abbreviation for a nasty term many rappers use to intimate someone does not have the correct relationship with his mother) with plural ending.
Oh, et. I thought it was the em4 that was required. *blushes*
Incidentally, I hate rap music.
that's a good clue, Jac -- just found the em 4 and wondered how to clue it!
i haven't the foggiest what you are trying to clue!
Lol Stid. Thanks.
you mean I must now start listening to rap to get babble words? it shouldn't even be a form of communication!
the 4/5 or the 4/8?
ah, clearly the 4/8
em4.8 pippin.
ugh. i always feel so inadequate when i'm incapable of finding a 4 word
if you know the first two letters, it's even easier
the EM 4 from the fourth column over is EM + two letters for a snaky letter
PAV - No, I would NOT recommend it. I am only aware of it because of having a te4ager in the house who watches Sky music channels. She was learned to turn 'em off if I'm around and rap comes on.
*has not was.
it'd be better to listen to chemistry lectures if you want to learn words
True - gremlin. Electro Magnetic... etc.
that em4 really shouldn't be a word
et then must be the word I need for NBT..from the lone E?
Tell Enable that, gremlinn.
'zackly, i don't see how acronyms should count. we'd be in way too much trouble then!
pav, try a shortened version of everlasting
et6/18 - forever, Pav. e + sea eagle (alternate spelling).
I keep missing that word...salmon please, I need dinner as well...
should "snafu" (and "snafued", etc.) be removed for the same reason?
i already ate the salmon ckes, sorry - you want i give them back mama bird-style?
nope that wasn't the E from the middle row loner...
and scuba, laser, radar....
No, not sea eagle - but anoher seabird. The *e4.4 that sounds like a twist or move around, or a go on the stage or in a game.
of 6/36 plz
pippin - please do not regurgitate any food in this chog!
middle row is pt for having made a mistake
too late, jac!
of6 = a displacement
just kidding, the chog is clean, i promise
don't regurgitate in me!
pippin..I have that already, not from the lone E though
pippin - well, it'd better have been delivered cleanly. If not, here are the mop and bucket.
ty gremlinn
back soon
See ya, Stid.
nm rap, think prince, you sexy **
so e + sexy ** then plural
does that help at all pav?
I'm wandering off for a while now. BBL.
the em4 I have ...I need the lone E from the middle row right side....
lone E is also an em4
ok, redirect ...thanks grem
that's why i kept giving wrong clues, i couldn't remember where it came from! sorry..
now I have NBT! thanks for the help all...42 more...and it's din time then work...
yeah, tough in that regard...good thing there weren't *too* many Es overall to look through
more clues = more words so don't apologise
okay, bunches of s's for me to kill. (4, that is) only 7 left and kicking ass this grid!
okay, back and need help on my last two please. SE 6/7?
2 more!
I think they're fishy, but at this point I just want to finish!
go pippin go!!!!
wow, go monkey! 1 left!
damn, this re5 is going to be the death of me, too many e's to monkey. a nudge in the right direction?
re 5/14 what you do to shorten a skirt again
pip there's a re + pro *** (legal term)
go pippin go!!!
i have that one, it's the next one
LESLIE ANN!!!!!! *bounce bounce* happy day! how's you?
to be introduced again pippin?
and leslie ann, i have that one too, it's the first 5/12
hello there stid. :) sorry i do not have the se 6/7 yet
oh jeez, i tried the present tense but not the past
anagram the one LEslie Ann clued pippin
LOL pippin!!!!
and YAY!!!!!!
that's okay, pippin does, and she will share! *happy mama look*
fireworkses for me!
yay pip!
se6/7 are what you do to an explosive and add a snake letter
Mother's online too... she doesn't have any SE words yet though
compound words
thanks pippin *thinking*
AHA!! FIREWORDS!!!!!!
ah, exactly what you would think, stidl
yay stid!!
yay stid!
I like finishing grids.
Good stidmama!!
hello mother! thanks for the help!
finishing grids is very satisfying
I shall just close down and wander off into the lowering gray.
I have a choclit-marzipan bar, if anyone wants to share?
MOTHER! wander off, why????
po 6/24 plz
*raises hand*
rofl, Mother says she won't share. she'll take the whole thing!!!!!
*serves choclit to well-behaved babblers*
*stern mama look at Mother*
po 6/24: cooking utensil + males
po6/24 compound, male who holds a cooking vessel
ty stid
Mother has abandoned us...
can one give a stern mama look to one's own mother?
and pippin
pip my head just exploded
yes! it has been done. I also gave her a piece of marzipan.
so7 please
don't splode yr head!
gramma, how one should act in church
my head asplode!
wait, nm
there is no so7
so 7 is not there, you want a 6 or 8?
hey babblers, clue for any/all of the ads pls?
do you realize this means 2 grids in a row without any word lists to help me? yay me!
impressive!
ad 6/7 is to stick something to another
hi all... babbling quietly in corner... just came home from four hours of driving, much of which was in fog. ate my dinner, babbled, and need one more word
so6
the first ad combines with a de4
gort, two of them are to stick
yay pippin, that is admirable
nice job
hey dorens
so6 - stay in the top two rows
ahhh, of course, thanks leslie
hey doren! I am going to go visit with Mother who is not virtual today! (I am at her house) back later to clue or visit if I can!
*poof*
also so6 and so8 have to do with not being overly cheerful
bye stiddy
well stid, share your marzipan with her
fireworks. bye all.. happy babbles

actually, the Smurfs started as a Belgian comic book.
davy crockett show was not created just to sell lunch boxes, AFAIK
And they weren't as cute and cuddly in the books
see and some say that babble is a waste of time?
I had a Davy Crockett cap ..
as for the smurfs, i don't know, but i recall seeing the toys before i knw about a tv show or comic book (i have not done research on this, okay folks?)

6 to go
5
you can do it!!!!!
husbands are so annoying.
Go jmc!!!!!
i have heard that hursh
probably why I don't have one anymore, hursh
i was working on a household project - which when i purchased the supplies for my husband indicated he wanted no part in
uh oh
and then he comes over to see what i'm doing and says i'm doing it wrong, he can do it better and faster, and i might hurt myself.
now, i was not in any danger of hurting myself, i was not frustrated with the project, i enjoy these things and he does not
in instances like those, I don't think the braincells kick in
i did not get upset at him, i just said i was doing fine and would keep doing it. and HE got all mad at ME.
so funny my husband would do that from time to time even though he knew i was better than he was at such things
ugh...men, you can't live with 'em, you can't live without 'em, oh, hell, pass the beer nuts!
when i tried to smooth things over by telling him that i had not been frustrated, i just hadn't seen any reason for him to take over, he got more annoyed. and when i asked him to just let it go, he walked away without a word.
probably should just let him pout it out
(for now, anyway)
dear dear
well obviously. but he's the one who supposedly wants to BE in this relationship.
ne 5/12 please
ne + not bottom
ne + not bottom
* snap *
i think that is the official clue for that word :)
LOL, hursh, Pini, and jmc. Men ARE like that! My DH always has to *watch* me when I'm cooking! He SO wants to do it for me; so I gave up and let him do all of the cooking now
wow that is so not a fish!
4
I did that with my dau, nef...she wanted to cook all the time, so I resorted to buying the grocery and waited to see what she'd create
all re words *sigh*
what lengths, jmc?
the thing is, when he's been doing household projects and is REALLY frustrated by them, he totally doesn't want my help. and if i were to suggest that i could take over anything from cooking to driving in a screw to whatever because i could do a BETTER JOB, good heavens would he react!
I am back and I have 1 left
3x5 1x 6
git'r dun, west!

I would like help with the te7 I'm too lazy to try
it's not even frustrating - i was totally calm and i wasn't upset with him - which is why it's so mystifying that he would get so miffed!

2
re + what you do with a book

TY - Anyone watch the game tonight?
potatoes
* giggle *
I watched it, very interesting last 10 minutes
no sports here
oops...to the PB I go
Isn't that the truth, gremlinn - I was kinda rooting for Minnesota and Brett Favre, but good game never the less
I was kind of, but not strongly - good stories either way
wild finishes seems to be this season's theme
Weird - the coach of the Saints is from my town and the coach of Minnesota is from the next town over - kind of small world, eh?
yeah
I'm not much for football until the end of the season and these games are usually kind of exciting
this year they have the Pro Bowl before the Superbowl, which is a first, I believe - it's also kind of awkward for those players who are going to both
Was that the same stadium that all the people were living at after hurricane katrina or did they build a new stadium?
since they would hate to get injured in the Pro Bowl where it wouldn't matter that much
I thought they went to somewhere in Texas
I heard that the superbowl players will not be going to pro bowl, but maybe i heard wrong
could be totally wrong, don't trust me on that
ah, I had not heard that
no remember when the stadium got trashed with all those poor displaced folks in it?
I remember, but I'm probably confused with something else too
I'm gabbing on this too much! Usually I just lurk
Should probably get some work done...good night all!
night
Hello
hi
How are you all? If i just vanish it is because I am pusing my laptop
good, just a bit early and waiting for the next puzzle
working on stuff meanwhile
hello everyone :)
Sorry Gremlin my poor pc can't keep up today. Hi Cyber
hello
hello all, same to help out, but with nan and gremlinn aboard maybe you don't need it!
my laptop is about to run out of juice.
no clue-seekers recently
Hi stid
My laptop has juice but no guts.
oh well, no worries!
no ring-finders or barrel-riders either, for that matter
how's life down-under today lady? up north it's a bit damp -- I think Nan is getting rain too.
no barrel riders, then what will Smaug do?
Nan?
Nan lives a couple hundred mles north of me, lady
O
I guess he'll be bored to tears
her-
we had rain ALL DAY LONG. I was most put out -- yesterday when it was lovely (sunny, dry, warm) I had a migraine and couldn't tolerate the light so I had to stay inside and study. today the migraine was gone and the mud was like glue. no yard ti e
no yard tiMe, that it! LOL
hey sammysmom
got an e mail today about a speech made by your pm kevin rude. i have forwarded it to all my friends and relatives - he is so great- i want that for america too.
hey stid
Hi ASam
did you see the speech?
errr probably not. I have been out all weekend
okay, since clues are not needed, I will head out. watching "space cowboys" on TV, it's pretty funny.
((hugs and choclits for all)) *poof*
essentially he said if you don t like australia and want to speak the language and obey the laws- get out of the counbtry
i LOVED it
Well I didn't see it so I can't comment
i wish our american president were that strong and i pray theat mr rude has the support to back it up
it is Mr Rudd and if Mr Obama didn't have such dipshits blocking everything he is trying to fix then well yer
except in the U.S. the language hasn't been made official (despite attempts on state levels, if I remember right)
firebirds! and *amusement* at Mr Rude
ATA I have bad news
