widgie is so a word, when i was a girl[ ice age] we called girls who were a little[ or a lot] fast widgies and their boyfriends bodgies
YIKES, grem!!! Is this any fun for you?

I was thinking wedgie as opposed to widgie
finishing in 9 minutes can't be much fun

you can take your laptop into the pb can't you?
good thing the oreos are virtual -- I'm on a no-sugar regimen
I would if I had a laptop, flosey :)
wow jilli, wish I could do that - I might last a day!
are you eating fruit though?
yes, pav
I've lost +25 lbs cutting out sugar
did you eat fruit, pav?
wow pav
One thing that seems to help me is exercising...I alternate between a treadmill and elliptical
so jilli, do you mean you cut out adding sugar?
I bought a bag of mixed apples and oranges last week, and I kept forgetting I had th4...was craving something sweetish after beans and tortillas
Thats great Pav, how long did that take
I've bee nsharing pineapple chunks with the poopies...unless ruru says th4s bad for th4 too?
yes, flosey -- and eating half portions as much as possible.
good for you, keep it up
doug, I'm allergic to treadmills and such ;)
I've noticed the elliptical tells me I'm burning more calories than the treadmill does
it's been a little more than a year since I had my shock at my last physical....according to the charts, I could stand to lose another 100 lbs...but I like being visible...
I like that jilli - me too
wow, pav!
15 to go
don't lose it too fast Pav, but keep at it
16 to go here

Question...any home remedies for a slight rash on my neck?
No idea wh4's causing it...get's worse when I'm hot, or absent-mindedly scratching it...

udder cream? that sounds intriguing
someone here suggested it a year or 2 back and i bought some , it really works

I just made a cake from My Kitchen Rules and it is yummy
I've bought all the makings for Neenish tarts, very excited to make (and eat) them
what are Neenish tarts?
O Yum. I made the Chocolate cake but half size
lynxxx, i love neenish tarts, have made them years ago but found them quite fiddly
lol herin i never make a cake without doubling reciepe so one for the freezer
besides lovely - pastry shells filled with lemon and condensed milk with 2 colored icing on top. My mother used to make with passionfruit in them too
well i am off to make a green chicken curry for dinner, one of my favourite meals
They seem to be Australian Jilli. The ones available in stores here are pretty vile...but everyone love the homemade ones. Very popular 1930-60
oh nice Andree
so bye all and happy babbling
I had only enough for half a recipe
phantom: damoiseau
don't take any notice of me herin, i still think i am cooking for the whole family and do everything in quantity, lol
bye Andree
I would cook a large cake if only I had guests
hi BabRab
but this time round I only had 5 eggs not 10.
Hi Babrab
Hello, folks
just listening to the news -- coincidentally, the icon theme being Gustav Klimt, a painting by him which had been looted by the Nazis just sold for 45.4 million bucks and the money will go to the rightful heir, who lives in Montreal :)
hi babrab
wow
I must go now
bye..I'm taking a break too
* * fireworks * *
alone in my glory, I guess
Jillibus, is that the lovely golden painting, the couple embracing?
no, christine -- click on it for a description
I remember seeing an interview with Adele's niece(?), who lived in Los Angeles.
hummppphh...a really big grid yesterday when i had not time to even start...and today...a tinsy one...
hi all; hugs jili
the subject in the portrait looks like a young Elizabeth Taylor
hi dee hi (I had wandered off)
I see what you mean!
odd, isn't it? maybe when she played in Flicka?
I don't think I saw Flicka but did see National Velvet -- more than once, as I recall
Have a happy babble -- it's a nice little one. I finished just after everyone else had left, lol!
aww, I think you are correct, I think I AM thinking of National Velvet
I's love to see that painting in the flesh, as it were!
oh, I would, too
But now I must go to bed -- goodnight!
sleep well!
Before I do, I'll repeat what I told the gang earlier (but they'd left) -- I was watching the news tonight and apparently a painting by Klimt of a scene was sold for $45.5 million -- it was one of the ones looted by the Nazis and now the money will go to the rightful heir, who lives in Montreal and runs a photo shop.
oh, wow, how fantastic!
Nice conicidence that Klimt is our theme today, eh?
extremely
Now I must go -- nightynight! *poof*

hello, am I the only one here?
Hi Ruby - I'm here also.
hello dianne, nice to see you. I don't recognize your flag, what time is it there?
It is 4:50 PM on Thursday.
I'm in France an it's 9:50AM
Where about in France?
between Lyon and Geneva, near to Annecy -- in the East
where are you?
Is it very cold there?
yes, about 20F but beautiful and sunny, snow on the mountains
It is about 20C here :)
aaaah!
v funny grid after yesterday's huge one! I have 38 words but probably won't get many more....as usual
I need 2 more S words so if I can help you let me
know
I have four s words: se4, sh4 and sw4. Are any of those useful or do you have them already
I also have two sa words.

Hi all and bye. I got my shots in my knees and can sleep for a change.

O.K. got those last two. Need any clues before I go?

ty
ne + first two letters of the daily suppliment pill
thanks for those clue, see you later
Bye - see you next time around.
Hi ruby, you still here?
hi, I'm back, just tried to change my icon following pini's instructions -- still no success
how are you, sally?\
Thought I was alone here. Was singing quietly to myself. This looks like an evil small grid.
it is gorgeous and sunny here but VERY cold!
I got half right away, now have 45 but I think that's probably it for me.
Quite mild for a change here, but a bit foggy.
if I sang quietly to myself, I'd have to leave the room -- worst voice in the world, the only fans are the pups
I have only just started, so only have 19 so far!
do you still have snow on the ground?
No snow now, though it was quite fierce on Friday and we couldn't go out on Saturday cos the road was sheet ice.
Imagine you have snow on the mountains.
this place is extraordinarily beautiful, even the view from the house.
What made you move to France?
lake, mountains, etc. but Spring is myt favorite - very long here and filled with flowers
I remember being in Austria in the spring and being totally amazed at the flowers.
I always loved France, spent a lot of time here with first husband and later on my own (or with my son). When Burt and I talked of marriage and retirement, this seemed like a good choice as he was taking French lessons.
And it would be a fresh start (he's been married a lot, previously).
We used to sky in Austria when we first moved here, just 5 hrs away, but we've given it up for different reasons
Married a lot! lol. Sounds like a serial marrier
bluebeard!
that was ski* in Aus.
I guessed :-)
hahah
I have never tried to ski, and too old and too fearful now.
Love to watch the beautiful people skiing though.
he has 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and one great- , but is estranged from them all.
Ah, now the estrangement is very sad. My first husband has one son with me, and two children from second marriage, and doesn't have contact with them.
I learned to ski in my 30's when I lived in upstate NY and wanted an activity I could share with my son. I was never very good, but really loved it until 2 of my middle-aged male neighbors had near-fatal accidents.
Have tried to get him together with my son but it hasn't been entirely successful. He's an idiot (ex-husband, not son), but there you go.
I can't help him with it although I've tried. He is sentimental but (I think) cold in the middle, and very stubborn and exigient (are those th same word?). Un-fortunately, my son and his wife (in their 40's) have decided not to have children.
men, especialy as they age, seem to close in on themselves
and since his heart attack in September, he is very depressed and won't talk about it, but I know he is scared
Some men just don't have that feeling for family that I think women do, on the whole.
where does your son live?
and can't make new friends, not like us! lol
Your husband had a heart attack? Mine had a by-pass last April. It does change people mentally
maybe it's because he's an only son. First husband was, too, and my son is.... It must be me!
how old is your husband? Mine is 84 and I'm almost 67.
My son lives in London, about 4 hours on the train from here. He has a son himself now, will be 2 in March.
he has an ongoing disease, atheromatosis (or something) in which he builds up plaque in his arteries.
that is a perfect distance! My son lives in Texas
he follows a very careful diet, takes anti-cholesterol meds, exercises, is very skinny, but the plaque build- up is relentless.
My husband is (counts on fingers) 75 this April, and I am (counts on even more fingers) 64.
it takes 23 hours to get to Austin from here!
April what? I'm the 17th
The heart surgeon told my husband (who had seriously blocked arteries) that it was genetic.
Tony's birthday is April 21st, and ouir wedding anniversary is April 19th.
I think so as my husband's father died of a heart attac k at 54! He has already had two carotid stents, but we thought those blockages were discrete.
aaah! My favorite month
His heart bypass has been totally successful and he has got over these emotional swings now, but he had pneumonia a month after the surgery, then after another month had a very serious fall which has left him partly disabled.
I will take April pictures for you and send them (actually I may have some in facebook)
And Tony's father died at (I think) aged about 60, same reason. There is more they can do now.
falling is the scariest, can be totally life-changing. We had an automobile accident (Burt fell asleep at the wheel) and the airbag deployed and fractured my sternum. I've not been the same, since
Would love to see April pictures. Not sure if we are friends on Facebook. Will go and look.
me, too, we'll both do it. I hope you'll be able to see the photos. I look like I have a shrunken head but there is great picture of Max, my lovely autistic black boy dog, on my wall.
Oh that's dreadful, the accident. Assume that was in France. Tony's accident sounds quite mundane. He blacked out and fell across the bath, hit his head on the side and damaged his spinal cord so he lost the use of his hands and although he has partially regained that, not totally. Also has difficulty walking.
but still, at 84, Burt is seeing the end and it makes him very scared (correctly) and depressed
I'm sure that's so, ruby. All you can do is be there for him but I know it's not easy. Really we have both had a dreadful year and the strain has told at times on both of us.
we missed an oncoming car by about 3 seconds or I would have been dead. Unfortunately, although we were going slowly, as I am very small and somewhat frail, the airbag explosion was too powerful
If he fell asleep at the wheel, he probably has some deep guilt to content with as well.
Do you think anyone else is here? Imagine this silent audience all following our conversation with either interest or boredom!
he had too much to drink at lunch, but denies it. It's almost two years since it happened
and probably taking notes!!!
OK, from now on, e-mails
Definitely would have some buried guilt then.
nelliekelley50@yahoo.com
now I have to make lunch but will "friend" you first. It is a great pleasure talking with you and I hope we'll continue!!
Found you on FB with that email. My email for FB is spt@mac.hush.com
I did it, too! yay, TTYL (as my techie son would say!)
who needs soap operas on TV when they have babble!
lol, Ata! And have you been taking notes?
good morning everyone, having a sneaky look at Babble whilst at work lol
LOL actually I only just came online, but I did read back!
Huh! Tshaw isn't a word. See it all the time in books. And hi Jean
I do love that pic of sily, Ata. Do you have a very special camera or are you just good at it?
um .... how modest am I feeling today *ponders*
both :D
lol. Digital camera or SLR?
digital SLR
You have some great photos on FB
I have an even nicer camera, a medium format film camera, but it's so expensive to use - film is expensive and processing is expensive. It's sad
Hello all. I'll admit I just came on too and read back - as I was just discussing the problems of aging today
Presumably companies that have traditionally made film have had some hard times recently with the advent of digital.
Hi lynxxx
hello Lynxxx hope you are well :)
hi Jean, nice to see you again
most have both digital and film products. the really high cameras like Mamiyas and Hasselblads even have digital bits you can add to a normal film camera (which I want to do with mine but its SO expensive to do)
Thank you lynxxx I have sneaked in whilst at work lol :) so may have to check out rapidly hehehhe
I have decided that it really isn't fair to be brilliant at everything, so I stay as strictly amateur with photography :-))
Oh good grief I am losing the will to live here, I have been on hold for 12 mins to a company and they wonder why I need babble lol
lol - better watch your smug crown Ata, I think Sally has her eyes on it
:-)
I always keep thinking about going pro with photography, I keep coming back to it again and again, and then never have time or the energy or the willpower
You have my sympathy Jean. I hate all the menu systems, too, which mean that by the time you get through you are already in a rage!
Lol I have hung up now Sally will have to try later, oh I am so with you I hate the menu systems who ever thought of them needs shooting lol
Ata, I know it isn't just the equipment. You really have the eye. My late b-in-l was semi-professional
When you write your local tourist guide books Ata, your photos will be a lovely accompaniment
*smug crown firmly in place*
Perhaps I can just have a smug tiara?
I do love taking photos. Love it. If I wasn't even more brilliant at every else, I'd take it more seriously :P
rofl
A girl after my own heart, Ata, lol
However I am really struggling with this grid today.

Hi Trif!
Can I submit a local newspaper story? A man recently reported his own drugs missing to the police. They went to his house to investigate. Marijuana was found growing on the premises, he protested strongly that it was his medicine and that it shouldn't be confiscated. The judge didn't agree.
can I offiically be smug today now, Lyn?

I'm a little bit careless in the chat but try to be very careful in my e-letters!

You're right, bojazz, I think b must be on general release again.
*gone*
hi oodle
hi bo
I thought pidgen was a word but it is spelt pidgin as in pidgin English
Any Danes online?
I was looking up pidgin in Wikipedia and saw this and thought it quite amusing, " Another word is "chop suey", a popular dish throughout America. In Hawaiʻi, it can also mean that someone is a variety of ethnicities."
anyone here?
bo here - but leaving for duties that call. hagd oodle
ok bbye bo hagd

Bad boy

Are you really there. i thought that was a joke.
Good Morning. BR I think it's a picture of moldy spaghetti sauce. I found an opened jar of old spaghetti sauce in the back of my frig a while ago and it looked very similar to that!
i believe it
lol Hi Nef
validation at last
Cub, you don't know BR.
hello hego and BR
Good morning all. Hey, BR, hows the thawing of the wooly mammoth coming along?
Hello, peri
Mornin, Peri honey.
I' m pretty sure that BR is in eastern No. Dak; which is very similar to Antarctica at this time of year. Like most of us in this area, we are delusional at best. ;-)
Most of the woolies are visible now
Hi Judi, what wooly mammoth?
*takes coffee to penalty box*
what
I am not looking forward to the predicted snowstorm tomorrow night and possibley again next Tues
Oh gosh, be right with you Judi. Make some coffee.
*whispers to hego* I'm just indulging BR's Antarctica fantasy.
Oh, okay, I won't tell.
Have a good day Everybody. Stay warm and dry! Off to work with just 30 words left to find!
be well, Nef
Bye Nurse Nef
Bye! <Poof!>
Good of you to add the flag, BR. lol.

Gotta watch out for those moles!

I was referring to the skin type mole you sillies.

Nurse Helen will keep you informed.
ne4 is plural of nevus

All Babblers are pedantic.

I hope so.
LOL Judi
As we sail the Atlantic... frantic!
I'm feeling frantic

Meditate. Be tantric.
Go Judi!

I don't like this grid. It's far too ideosyncratic.
Nope don't like it.

YAY, Inge!!
Hi Inge

Why is widge not a word? It sounds like a word.
Widget is a word - although not in this grid.

No shame, Judi.

lol bojazz
the second one made sense
i seldom make sense - ask my children
ask my girlfriend
well, we aren't supposed to make sense to our children.
my boy spends much of his time embarrassed by me
we're supposed to embarrass our kids regularly, so that's good. =)
can anyone clue the second en6, please? the en6, 27
i don't embarrass my children anymore, they're used to it
en + competes
got it, thanks!
he is used to being embarrased
hmm, my keyboard likes to throw in a random J now and then
which is totally not helpful in this grid
J is not useful
would agree with that
nope. I think I need a new keyboard. It doesn't like double letters, especially E. Or even things like "ERE" - and I need those a lot!
*dancing with joy that we agree*
jumpin' jehosaphat
(I am easily amused.)
that is not in this grid, bojazz
we already said, no Js... weren't you listening?
i hope not - i'd never find it if it were
help with the N please
ne + compete, one letter short
bojazz... is that the only clue you know? lol
but thanks, I was just at that word, too!
it's working for me so far :)
yes, it sure is! and why change if it's working??
if it ain't broke, don't fix it
if it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is!
ok, that clue doesn't work for the first re6, 24... got any more?
re + *** (to play the wrong card, back out of a deal)
no, that is the second re6
re6 an old idea
sorry - 1st re6 - re + **** (eggs & ****)
gotcha... thanks to both
eggs + ****browns
wow, I am getting words I have never heard of, just totally guessing random stuff.
guessing is key in this game
i'm surprised how much military jargon is in it today
wow, I am down to 4 already!
fireworks!

congrats, aslindy
congrats aslindy
thanks! I appreciate the clues today!
just "competing"

oodle, did you get the he4/6? both of my he's are worth 5
I'll third valerian, Eva. But don't take it if you're already taking any antidepressant
they were all stocking up on wine
we're all quite over the snow here. We've not seen a winter like this since 77.
that's what they said
oh dear poor people in DC
especially valium
i'm just thanful that i don't need to work right now, and that the all-wheel drive can get Tom to work
i will look into valerian. (not taking any anti-depressants) and NB, feel like coming over to help me unpack? ;)
if you are taking ANY medication BEFORE you get it consult your physician
we still have snow on the cliffs, but no new falls
dc, snow this weekend, then i heard again on tuesday/wednesday and AGAIN next weekend!
I'm both flattered and amused that you could ever consider me 'strapping', Eva!
taking nothing other than the occasional ibuprofen. :)
and it's around 35F at this altitude (the cliffs are higher)
there should be lots of cancellations in DC
i dont know so much about the strapping, but i figure youd be a great help with decorating. ;)
the liquor stores will run out!
lol ruby
also I always found lycopodium useful when I was having major stressy angst moment
I just take xanax for the angst so that I can sleep through the night
maybe 9 months from now there will be a baby boom in DC!
hahah my friends are too old!
i wouldnt be surprised, robbie!
that's like end-of-september babies.....Happy New Year!

*envious of pet rock, as she still has 32 words left*
I don't think so.

i barely got 60% of the words to yesserday's grid
would you say I'm rock-dumb???
Nope. not me.
I would not no never

you must have a very smart pet rock BR... never mind ruby
do you also have a chia pet? Does anybody else remember them?
yup
they still advertise them
hahah
it is now sponge bob
I see ads for chia pets all the time!
I'll bet one could make big ones in the garden by sticking together moss and chicken wire as an armature and then planting grass sed
well hopefully the grid with be biggerer tonight
that's an idea ruby
my pet rock enjoys the hula hoop
I'm going to try it -- starting the design in my head right now *thinking of spring*
well the grid yesterday took me forever to complete..i hope tomorrow's grid isn't that big!
Phew! Well, back from Mah Jong, husband cooking supper so here to try to finish. Hi everyone
I added another 50 tulips a month too late and am hoping to be pleasantly surprised
I bet your pet rock knows how to "stay";-)
giant chia pet. This woman has way too much time on her hands. ;-)
you play it with tiles sally? I have only played it on line... do you set up the tiles for your opponent or what
hi sally! Did you win? I used to have a Japanese friend and told him I was going to organize MahJong clubs in NY for Jewish grandmas and Japanese gentlemen. He found that very funny....
The tulips sound great. think positively.
Yes, I won! First ever time. Really I'm just learning but it's a great game.
You play with tiles oodle, it's not at all the same as the online one which is just matching pairs I think.
do tulips generally do better than threelips?
the 2nd year here, I had more than 300 tulips planted in onr part of the garden, all shades of pink, salmon and violet but most disappeared after a couple of years
We play in tables of four.
depends what you're doing, BR
yes matching pairs... oh and people take turns? how do you set the tiles up??
lol BR
Why did they disappear ruby? Do you have squirrels and did they eat the bulbs?
that sounds like fun, sally. I never learned it, probably because my mother didn't play. Just learned poker from her, lol, and scrabble
Oodle, first you build a wall with four sides, two deep and eighteen tiles long each side. Then you take tiles in a certain sequence onto a board a bit like a scrabble board
we had voles in the garden at first, so the 2nd {tulip year@ there were only about 150, the 3rd about 80. From what was left, we have about 80 of the originals, plus what I've added in the interim. The voles are gone now
Then you have to try to get sets. A set of three is a Pung, and a set of four is a Kong. A pair I think doesn't count as anything.
last year after someone cut off the flowers of all my tulips..the bulbs were not touched...weird.
â–“â–“â–“â–“â–“â–“
kewel
Showing off again
BR is cubing up
do you have deer robbie?
The first to get all the tiles in sets gets Mah Jong.
i've only seen one deer
sounds like fun but you have to use your whits to set it up eh?
We have the rules!
was he smiling?
And we don't play for money, or too seriously. Not like the Chinese who apparently play very fast and for money.
lol
and the Japanese, too
good night, friends, stasis at 55. See you tomorrow!
I went to the china town in Montreal and went into this one store and asked him what are the rules... he says... oh you will have to buy it to find out. I said no thank you for 200$ no thank you very much indeed.
bye ruby
Just seen your messages in FB, ruby. Will go and answer in a minute.
be well, ruby
bye robbie and sally and oodle and hego if you're still here
Think the official rules are online oodle.

hey y'all! Back from work, and only 18 left. A good day...
man, can I clear a room or WHAT?!
lol Trif. Just trying to monkey my last word.
oh hey there - how was mahjong?
I won! Yay!
yay!
please - how many tw- words do we have today?
Two Trif.
ty
Just got my last word! Would never have got that without the monkeys, stupid spelling of kind of tent.
huzzah!!!
you are on a winning roll today, sally!
Should I do the lottery to you think?
I have that tent one, trying to monkey my last t here..../
I think this was such a hard grid, but nice feeling of being done without any lists.
Do you need any hunts?
ha! got that ornery last t
I agree sally. if you promise you wont' tell, I will reveal -- at the bottom of my profile I keep a little count of how many times I have gotten fireworks with out a the list
I won't tell, and of course I haven't just had a peep at yoiur profile to check the number :-)
:0 16. Not so big, but still...
I don't have this puritanical streak that some Babblers have about the lists - I find it funny when they boast about it, but then ask for clues left right and centre in the chog. Some difference!
It's a good idea to keep count though.
indeed, sally. I do ask for hints now and then, but mostly I just steal them when others ask!
Anyone need any clues before I go and eat?
Hello Babblers
hello scrabbler! and thanks sally, but I think I am set for now....
Hi Scrabbler. Just off to eat so Hi and Bye ...
42 to go. I'll find some more before a walk in the sunshine.
Gone then
is it warm with you scrabbler, or just sunny?
30 F but quite sunny! I took the day off and have been cleaning--vacuuming bunnies' rooms.
aren't ALL your rooms bunny rooms?
4 of the bedrooms = bunny rooms. LOL
Are you off today or on a break, Trif?
neither scrabbler - was in this morning until 12:30, and now am home with sick child. fun! I should be cleaning, but I am being mad lazy. have only 5 left, so I am trying to get it done.
in general terms, are you happy with new job?
Oh, yes! Partners = kind, supportive, relaxed, not workaholics and with intact egos. Toughest part = rural poverty and its effects on families/parenting/children. I want to adopt most of the kids.
ok, this may sound like a weird one, but do you ever hug, high five, etc with the kids you see? We had a staff meeting today, and were basically read the riot act against any sort of contact with the kids. I get what they were saying, but it is SUCH a bummer. So many of these kids feel like complete losers, and could use a hug now and then.
Monkeying like mad but not getting the ge5.
type of book, movie, etc. sallyds.
I am very big on pats/touches/hugs! I ask kids first if I may hug them. "Can I have a hug? You are such a sweet girl/boy?" Parents are in room except for adolescents.
Bless you Trif. Fireworks!
yes, well, that is the issue right there- we are one on one with our students. :( I like hugs.....kind of hate that this is where we are now.
huzzah for sally!
Last week I saw a depressed 17 yr old girl. At end of discussion I asked her if she wanted a hug. Now maybe I am placing myself at risk, but, yes, kids need support, hope, caring...
Yay Sally!
I bet she loved that hug, scrabbler....
Poor girl--Dad left home 2 yrs ago for a man, announced he was gay, left Mom with 4 daughters, this is oldest girl--confused, angry, sad.
SO many kids are not getting their emotional needs met by their parents because the parents are emotionally needy.
FIREWORKS!!!! woot woot
yahoo trif!
I have 11 to go and I think I will just finish this out then go for a walk
yes, scrabbler, I can see that already. most of the kids I see have really nice parents, who obviously care enough about them to bring them for extra academic support, but every now and then we do get a doozy. Last year a 16 year old was brought in by distraught parents. He got a B in English, and they lost their minds.
Yes, so many kids are expected to please their parents in every way--academics, sports, music. Parents cannot accept anything other than A student.
trophy kids
tools come in all shapes and sizes, I guess
I have a question, do you then counsel the parents?
iv5 please?
I discuss strengths, weaknesses, gifts, talents, learning styles, etc with kids and parents.
There are all variations--parents that expect nothing and do not push their kids, and parents who expect A's only
My UPS driver has a greenhouse containing possibly the world's largest collection of iv5....
do the parents who have those high expectations "get it"?
more than one green leafy vine, scrabbler
Geez, i thought that was a phantom! TY
Any clues for the re6 or the ge5?
I am not allowed to discuss anything with the parents directly, due to my level at the company I am with, but there are consultants who do.
the ge 5 is used to describe what type of movie or book you might like - romance ge5, horror ge5, etc.
the re5 is used to describe someone who backs out on a deal, but it's not how I would spell it!
No, SS, as there are so many materialistic parents that want to show off their kids' achievements---demands for ADHD meds to enhance academic performance, tutoring, etc
Uno for me!
sad...my daughters fiance was on ADHD meds because he needed to be, he stopped them and went on to become a state trooper
Done! I haven't finished a grid in a long time. TY for clues.
my daughter is very, very supportive
huzzah for scrabbler!

i'll be checking the weather forecast for tomorrow - how much snow? hoping it's just a little
guess, I am gonna clean up the family room now; We are expecting up to 30 inches here in Frederick, MD
evening everyone x
hi Katie
No! 30 inches? heaven help us
bye phan. 30 inches! yikes!
hi katie
That's what the weather map just said!
I hope not - I will have to decide by tomorrow whether to cancel Saturday classes for a program I'm in charge of and we hate to cancel
i hope it's a typo, phan! th4's a lot of snow!
where are you?
central new jersey
not sure what is being called for there.
phand is Prince William County in MD or VA?
VA
ok, thanks
no snow here - dammit!
My kid's youth group is going to PA (Seven Springs) for a ski trip. They are leaving earlier than originally planned.
you really don't want to shovel out cars, driveways, do you bo?
except for '73, it never gets really deep and then seldom lasts more than 12-18 hours
bad part of snow here is people think they know how to drive in it and 90% of them don't have a clue
NJ is under a blizzard warning
major mid-atlantic blizzard warning!
oh dear
in '73 we had as much as 24" in some places and the area was virtually shutdown for a week - helicopters were used to get food & supplies & transport sick people from the country
where was this, Bojazz?
south carolina
alright, I gotta go now then chores must get done!
i'll be back in a bit - good luck to those still working on the grid
hello all!
oh DUH, I already finished!!
oodle, that's one i haven't heard before
huh, i killed the chog. guess i'll have to come back later
???
apparently everyone was talking till i came, so i killed it!
must be the scary icon with the gun. it's okay, i won't shoot anyone!
ughh
i suck at this!
hang in there math!
hi pip
takes time, math, practice makes it muchmuch easier
hi jmc
you need clues math?
sure, thanx
after a year I can do okay on most days! lol
math I still suck at this... when there is a big grid I don,t finish half of them
he, i;ve only got seven
it's a very supportive crowd, keep at it
have you tried using lickety's clues (link below) to help you see what to look for?
do you have the water birds? er4/4 and its plural er 5/10 and the other plural water bird er 4/4 that sounds just the same?
If I find all the words, I generally finish
funny how it works that way br
is that how it works BR???
you are amazing, BR!
lickety's clues? whats that?
at the bottom you will see a link
math, look under the friends of babble links, open it in a new tab or window
you can cut and paste your words from the word list on this page into that page, it makes it much easier to search cause it gives you the 1st 2 letter and the # of letters in each word
thanx, but i still can't get anything!
i'd be bald without lickety or those who post the list elsewhere.
and some days you just can't seem to see them, when it's easier other days
math, you might want to click on the help button. it has good information there, as well as angelsong's page.
oops, pb for me
this was alot easier yesterday. i got 61 words in 20 minutes, but i did it with my class
this is a small grid, but not really an easy one for a newbie. keep at it, math. you can do it
extra eyes always make it easier, thats why we give one another clues a lot of the time
what class? do you teach a class or did classmates help you??
do u guys no each other, and do u guys go on babble everyday?
please help with the one lonely i word thanks
can anyi help me with sh 5 please?
oodle-i don't teach, i'm a kid
just know each other from here

oh, and my name is because i don't like math
hi good
wow. i'm so bad, i still have only 13 words, my teacher would be so dissapointed
math sometimes I don't think I have a brain. ;-)
math is a wonderful subject! find someone who really knows what they are doing with math and get help from him or her. Most people hate math cuz they are/were taught by those who also hate math.

it's the upper right hand c
im just randomly guessing now
the left hand c doesn't begin anything
it is short for not military... ci5
see, i've never seen that without the dbl consonant, so i didn't guess it
i hate when they do that!
we all randomly guess from time to time
if it is not criminal law it is ci** law
okay any hints on the lone n for nbt?
make that word slang

i have never heard of sw5/6 before. i refuse to believe they are real words
and i kicked butt playing balderdash with my friend's family last night!
babble helps with things like that pip
oh, the meaning is even better...
;)
the sw 5/6 should mean when you trade your female spouse.....no offense ladies :)
remember it from the miller's tale
none taken jef
of all the things to remember, i remember, "nicholas let fly a fart" and "thus swived was this carpenter's wife"
how well read you are welki!

attribute the random memories to high school yuk-yuks
gah i only have 36 words
and ive been working for like half an hour
first time, ab?
yup

don't let anyone kid you, there is a steep learning curve to the strategy of solving these puzzles. mostly, it's time and experience .. give yourself a couple of weeks and see

when he sees a big dog, but he loves our guy
lol
mine would have, too ... but it was one of those, "but i always wanted a ...." and (contrary to public belief) i'm a softie
i have allergies, so I had a lot more leverage with what type of dog to get
maybe we're related. i have horrible allergies to dander (dust and pollen, too), but take stock in Allegra-D and the occasional allertec
it was nice talking, i have a poopy diaper to change (not my own!) and another one to put to bed

how are you doing these days Mom?
doing just fine Stid, thanks. How are you? and how is school?

c ive
at least it's not a wurd
I vote for "having a handle on things"
no, but change the c to the next letter after it
until further information comes in, that is my preference as well.

Bye sixty7stang13! I will see you tomorrow in the log
there are only 6 e's 3 en's and 3 er's, AB
Oh good, a small grid .. Heyas kids ..
AB there is a link at the bottom of the page called Lickety's babble clues. you might want to check it out. it will give you the 2 letter clues and the point values.
Hi torg!
Hi torgone! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
how is everyone doing? Such a lot of winter weather predicted for the weekend!
I hate not being able to Babble at work anymore ..
I work from home so I can Babble wherever and whenever I want.
back in an hour, bones is on
Lucky
I feel happy when I get to go to the bathroom at work...
Tempy is the best, lbd. Love Bones.
I could babble at work. Then they blocked it and now they unblocked it again. But I was PISSED when they blocked it torgone,so I know the feeling.I can babble again, but only using Lickety's webpage, not Babble.
Thankd God I am in control of my own computer!
Hmm .. Haven't tried that .. But I miss the chat ..
I type the words into Lickety page&then come home and retype them into Babble webpage; Kind of a pain.
yes, I imagine it is.
If I soud a little dramatic it's 'cos Beloveed went to bed happily halif-pissed (drunk) and I'm listening to old Dusty Springfield tracks whilst reading chog.
But I shouldn't complain since I can still sort of babble
It's amazing what a 25-year-old fenale can do to your life.
Imeant 15 year old, but I do also have a 25 yr old and a 22 yr old to consider.
firewords! ve5 meatles was my last
I'm just amazed that you all have jobs where you can babble at all. I would get fired for it, so every time someone says they are babbling at work, I am amazed....
tx all cluers
LOL. Has anyone yet written to catch it all handbook for parents?
I need one of the 3 er's. I have the er4.4/5.10
Congratulations dan2bit on fireworks!Hooray for you
what am i missing
jac lol
good job Dan2!
it is called the bible Jac
Yay dan!
theres an er4/4 related, plural
A suefrad - yes.
is that the one with the er5.10
You need en 6/30,en7/44,en6/27 words suefrad625.
got the en's
just lookin for the er I am missing
However, the Bible was written by men for men...
I concur with that jac
lol
All er words relate to sea eagles.
ooooohhh looking again
Thank you, ruru.
Phantom: siege
got it
ty
seen that min
ticked me off
LOL!
hey, I just got a 6mth frontline Plus for 88lb dogs on ebay for $60
I break each tube up for 2 dogs and 2 cats
(what's the expiration date)???
so we are good for a while now
no exp
oh.. that's a good deal
I have done it for the past 2 months and it worked great
no fleas, no sickness
we use comfortis
love who ever figured out the breakdown per size instead of having to buy the single tubes
Frontline is a good product though I hear.
I wanted to try it but cant afford it
I assume you're all talking about pet medication now?
lol
yes jac
I have heard of Frontline, but I use Advantax for dog
I use avantage on the kids...
Oh, yes, now I see. Frontline is the foremost flea, tick and lice, drop on the back of the neck stuff. I use that on the cat.
is confortis a pill?
yes
didnt work for me
lasts longer than advantage and frontline
it was a lot easier then the drops
I want to try the one that is like Frontline but kills all stages of flea
I think that might be Advantax suefrad625, not sure.
Frontline last up to three momths if your cat isn't in the habit of going out in the rain and pushing through bushes not long after yyou've applied it.
does it come off in a bath.. we bathe our dogs every week
You have to be nice to your outside cat and allure it into wanting to stay for first night after application is made. It will then last for 3 months.
ruru - why do your bathe your dogs that often?
Comfortis is the best stuff ever for flea control.
it tis min
ty
Ruru How is Dylan...
he is doing great.
I've read you are supposed to bathe your dog once a month, so that is what I do.Sometimes I skip a month
Unless they are very muddy or have rolled and rubbed their necks in fox poo, there really is no reason to dry their skins out too much by bathing them more than once every 3-6 months. A rub down will normally suffice.
If my dog gets muddy from dog park, I just rinse him.
Rinsing is fine, Min.
hi all! hi jacs!
Hi TO. You greeted me separately. LOL
Hi 72 Temple Owl! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
I bathe Teulu pretty much when he goes to the vet. Which is often. He got a bath in November, one in January, and one in February so far...
Hi TO
well it's been a long time jacs ;)
hi min hi red. just getting home from zumba. more fun than i have ever had at the gym.
You can't put moistiriser on a dog's skin. so you shouldn't shampoo a dog too often.
I'm glad you enjoyed it TO. My coach used to threaten me that I would have to take those classes if I misbehaved! I do not dance well1
It has TO! At least two weeks. How are you?
fine and you?
Evening. May i get a clue for the second re 6 please
oops nm i just got it
To be honest, you shouldn't shampoo yourself too often either! Rinsing down is fine, but don't use either natural ar chemical products too often, and only moisturise your skin using natura;l products.
lol i have lsot 7 lbs since christmas and you need some junk to latin dance!
TO - it's been a bit of a week, to be honest, but it ended well.
Dancing is probably the very best form of exercise, especially if it is done with pleasure amonst friends. (Whichis probably why mst teenagers are thin!)
our dogs live in the house and we keep them clean . We alternate with a soapless shampoo and keep the skin problems down that way.
sorrt to hear but glad week ended well.
They still don't need washing at mre than 3-monthly intervals, ruru.
I don't agree
Sorry you don't agree Ruru, but it's what I've learned over 50+ years and no harm has come to us.
Goldens and Labs have natural oils in their skin and bathing and water don't affect them like other breeds
doesn't I mean
There are times when you have to be in tune with animals other than the primates that are us/
I am done! I have fireworks!re6/24 was my last word
Well done. Min.
YEAAAAA minver.. good for you
wtg min!
I'm off to eat dinner. Be back later clues are needed.
Ruru - I guess will will just have to agree to disagree about how clean is your pet? LOL
for top s i have se4/4 what is the other pls?
yeah to each his/her own
we do therapy work with our dogs at the hospital too and they have to be clean for that too
TO - there is only one se4/4.
i mean what is the other word from the top s?
nm
pretty easy grid today
TO - sc5 from a play without the 2nd letter.
i think i set a record for myself for finishing!
i am sorry i began it
Yes, shirlockc - tw4 an easy grid.
TO - you're sorry you began what? The grid?
yes
if i am online near bedtime it disturbs my sleep.
may i have a clue for the c pls?
I just opened a bottle of champagne. Why? Because my Mum's still alive, despite the hospital prognosis she had a couple of days ago, and she's been here twice today, my daughter's still alive despite trying to starve herself to death some years ago, my son still wants to live with me, my parnter still loves me and his daughter, though flouncing off in a huff quite often, still returns 'home'.
\Partner said earlier tht he'd 'grrr' at me if I opened the last bottle of champagne. I've had a good famil based day and that deserves a celebration.
cause to celebrate
TO - man in everyday clothing rather than 'Forces' uniform, but it's usually got another v in the middle in the UK spelling.
ty
y/w TO
champagne too often isn't good for you..
once every three months is about right..
(lol)
=O
ruru - I'm not intendimg tp drink the whole bottle, so don't be a party pooper!
OLOLOLOL
Last xhampers we had was New Year's Eve.
So, please clink your glass, cup or mug with mine now, to celebrate ll the things I value.
(raises toast)
*raises glass*
CHEERS!
I will leave you all to finish grid or whatever now and see you later.xx

That's how I write them is all ..
well, I'll have to go back to Babble 101..no sense in being downgraded for not conforming...reeks of Spanish 101 in college when my Puerto Rican TA said I didn't know how to spell my Mexican last name...

never arguing...creatively discussing! :)

if I were gonna argue, I'd whine about people saying "chog" instead of "chat"
one has to have a wry sense of humour sometimes in this chat...right grem?
(chat = live, chog = archived chat logs)
I have an awry sense of humor

I think I'm gonna go back to trying the puzzles with no lickety, no chat hints
at the flip, grem?
I have 3 goals I like to hit before considering the list
starting with the next puzzle, yeah
NBT, NBS, and 1/2-way...
I never *need* it, but it might save me an hour or more if the words are obscure enough
I hear ya there!
that "sestertia" word might have stumped me forever - since then, nothing quite that difficult
I think I missed that one!
it was within a few days after I first came here
hey all!!!!
must be nice to have your brain, grem
gotcha...
down to 20 earlier, should I list yet?
((stid))!!
and I didn't know about lickety clues, so when someone gave a clue for it, I was pretty impressed as I thought someone must have known it

no list! only two requested clues! that's pretty good for me.
yay, stid!!!
hey rbud! how's you this fine evening?
wtg stid!!!
I'm good, expecting a bit of snow... sigh
the only problem with finishing is... now I have to get back to schoolwork. *grumble*
MORE snow??? *shakes head sadly* you are having the kind of year we had last year.
I want snow!!!
I realized that last year our final really measurable snow at our house occurred on our anniversary... in MARCH.
I haven't had ANY!!!
you can have snow, pini. you have a truck that can handle it!
not much out there right now, it had mostly gone, now looking at anywhere from 2 to 5 inches.
I know, stid...but it has to fall, hit the ground, and stay!!!
we haven't even had any flakes! :(
my OLDEST friend (in terms of frienship length -- though she is older than I am it's not by much) is getting hit with snow this year too -- Tidewater region of Virginia. really awful year.
um, NO flakes, pini? not even like say, at the college? *innocent mama look*
heard they might get a foot in that area
my dau is in Norfolk...they've had quite a bit of a hit...
oh good! how is she doing pini? (good for knowing how she is, not for the snow)
She's doing well...she works a night shift (security) so doesn't have to play bumper cars with the daily commuters :)
Glad she's doing well. ((hugs mama pini))
:)
What's rather cool is that she calls me just about every evening to "chat"...it's been a long time since that's happened...
extra happy! *BIG smile*
yay, fireworks!
Yeah, it's been a good thing for me (that's for sure) and I think it keeps here "grounded" in a way ;)
wtg rbud!
("grounded" to "home" that is)
YAY rbud!!!!
*grin* she's too big for the other kind of grounding, methinks!
ROFL!
well... I need to pull myself together for tomorrow. finished the homework, so now should review the materials we are going over tomorrow.
have a good one, stid!!!
(oh, and we had 726 applicants this year)
OH! my practicum teacher is tentatively going to let me teach her class on my scheduled day the week she takes a vacation!!! (with a certified substitute teacher to supervise, of course)
wtg, stid!!!!!
now all I have to do is last in this program until then!
gee whiz, that seems like a lot pini -- for about 40 slots, rights?
Oh, you will!!!! I have big sister faith in you!!!
we only seat 12
:-D I like having a big sister. I shall ask Mother to adopt you to make it official. (((hugs)))
* giggle * works for me!
eek! 12??? that's like 60 applicants for each position.
you could say that...it'll end up being about 1.7% of the overall total!
anyway... I shall drag my sorry self back to the books. *leaves choclits* see you-all tomorrow!!! *poof*
I'm just happy we're done opening mail!!!!
take care, sleep well!
I'm off for a few minutes to check email...back shortly!
