NBT - woohoo!
argh now the first ha4 is stumping me
seems like i've tried all combos
wtg doug!
rows, since I've been reading Rebus books, set in Scotland, I know that ha4 word is a sort of mist
ha4 contains a dbl vowel
well i haven't been reading those books, unfortunately
but jilli, that helped :)
i have to wonder sometimes how some of these things are considered English words
good!
some of them don't even pretend to be English.
We need a version of Babble where the dictionary is more flexible
it's kind of silly, really
i speak Spanish and it would be nice if at least the Spanish words i happen to find at times would work
I get the impression this grid sucks?
I find lots of French words that don't work -- but then some do. No consistency whatsoever
need a nudge on TA7 please ? last word & want to go to bed......

tiny grid, smallest one I've seen in my 2 months experience (still a tyro!) Good morning everybody
hello ruby - i am done so will get on with day
Morning ruby, it is small but nice reckon you should be able to finish it.
you are finished? how long did it take you?
GM FM, if yes, it will be a first!
oh on and off about 2 hours
Lots of people have already finished which means the chat might be quiet but there are some good clues if you need them back in the chat ruby. Hi ursh
Im just getting ready to go out so will wish you good luck ruby. Bye for now.
Bye FM. Hello everyone
after I go through it once on my own, I'll go through the chat for clues. Then, unfortunately, I have to cook. Trying to make a borscht today. I've made it well in the past but the last time it was so awful (after hours of work), that I had to dump the whole thing!
ruby, is borscht, beetroot soup?
yes, with beef ribs, a little bit of cabbage, onions and tomato paste. Wonderful for cold weather if well made but mine will be ify!\
dh on phone -- from upstairs!!!! annoying
this grid is very hard!!!
sounds delis
need any clue and I'll try to help
when other people make it, it is. I'll let you know with mine. Winter is back with a vengeance! VERY cold today
very HOT today.....big difference
have you ever had snow?
Rubyfoo, there's a good recipe for borscht on thyme2.typepad.com, February 1. It's listed in the right-hand column.
nah. seen it a few times but not in my airier
area....derrr
I don't go out of the house much, so don't mind the snow. But DH keeps the house too hot and it's very annoying and oppressive.
Your airier what?
airier sounds good! maybe from Boston!
or a kind of dog?
portmanteau word for terrier and airedale?
Big ol' scar under my eyebrow from an Airdale, but I do still love 'em.
oof, how old were you?
0ooo,
0ooo,
pork Chop Hill" is on the television.
don't know that movie
I was about seven, and it was my own fault, in a way. We were always taught to ask the dog's "Mum" before we touched it, and I didn't. I just bent over to stroke him, as his owner moved, and the dog snapped - his owner said the dog thought I was attacking her.
Pork Cop Hill pretty sure its Clint Eastwood
likely story! I've only known two airedales and they were sweet but dumb and one of them ultimately drowned in the family pool!
cop=cHop
we've had 5 chow chows over the years, and even with their terrible reputations, none of them has ever bitten anybody!
During the Korean War, the hill was considered worthless, but "they" insisted on the American troops taking and holding it. Gregory Peck is in the film. I used to work with his son - a brat if ever there was one.
cop chop shop - where corrupt police sell impounded vehicles
grteat at jeux de mots, poop at babble! lol
The dog was really a sweetie - I'd petted him before (and after) so perhaps he was spooked.
We had a toy poodle who savaged a hulking great German Shepherd (his head was larger than our little one), because she was defending my daughter.
that is a nice story. I think my female would kill anybody who laid a hand on me, but, hopefully, I'll never know....
hah, half!!
yay
DD wasabout 3 1/2, and we were walking. Girl Puppy (her love name) sat on DD's feet, and backed up to get her away from the biiiiig dog, and the idiot wit the other dog thought that was funn - and said sic, or somesuch to his dog, who lunged at DD and the puppy.
Our poodle/giant killer hung on to the other dog's throat, growling what she'd do to him when she let go, while the youth was almost in tears that his dog was being hurt.
I hope the shepherd was badly injured! With our old chow, Rufus (now deceased), who was a real gentleman, a shepherd, off leash, attacked him (on leash). The shepherd outweighed him by a good 20 lbs and Rufus had him down by the throat in a heatbeat, stook there looking at my husband for permission to kill the other dog. After that, the shepherd would pass our house on his belly, slithering like a furry snake
I guess the throat is the vulnerable part!
They know they must defend their family. My parent
I call Max Puppy Boy and Ruby Puppy Girl and they weigh more than 70 lbs!
My parent's had a pitbull who thought he was a lapdog - until someone looked twice at his family, then he became very still, and could-be-scary, if you didn't know him for the softie he really was.
HEllo
hello lady!
I think pitbulls have beautiful heads but I've never known one. Not popular here, like chows, the French think they're dangerous
this is a funny grid, hard, but it slowly seems to reveal itself
Then-husband pointed out our gir's pedigree was longer and more impressive than ours, but she was Girl Puppy and her litter-brother was Boy Puppy. In my friend's divorce, each took one of the pups, and she kept the Mother. Later, after another house move, she couldn't keep both dogs, so she gabe the puppy to DD. We had her until she was 13, and breast cancer took her from us. Thirty three years later, she's still in our memories, and part of many conversations.
I have the best good dog story. My friend owns 3 very large dogs. She ordered a pizza and the dumb arse pizza guy tried to open the screen door and her dogs, two who are trained in security, one is a Douge and the other is a Belgium Shephard stalked to the door then did the HI. My friend says she swears the dogs would have pinned the guy to the ground then barked. Mr Pizza guy would have had to changed his shorts
dogs enter your hearts and when they leave us, that part is still theirs!
Some owners of pitbulls are dangerous. My G.Grandfather bred pitbulls and Staffordshire pits. Dangerous only if trained by bad guys.
I completely agree with that, Christine, it's the owners who ruin the dogs. I've seen people here kick their dogs!
lady, I'm surprised they didn't eat the pizza!
My friend has been abused for starving her dog when its the dog breed
Max has mange but certainly hasn't been neglected!!!
No Ruby they are very well trained in not touching the human food.
I have to go and cook, will work on this some more after lunch
Loves Ruby. Hi Christine
My first chow was an inveterate food-snithc
snitch
ciao, chow chow
hi, all - my hubby used to have a pit bull that would quietly let intruders break into the house, but then wouldn't let them back out, lol! Caught a thief that way once.
Herinfernallady - looked up Douge - urban definition is marijuana.
But there was an entry for Dogue de Bordeaus - a mastiff type. Ain't typos great?
Bordeaux - silly gremlins.
Yes and we call him a dDouge
Yes he is a mastiff. He is fantastic
A pub near my parent's house had two mastiff that were supposed to be guard dogs, but during opening hours, they roamed the garden, and kids would pet them. My Dad tried to explain to the owners you were supposed to keep them away during the day, so that they'd know the pub was the workplace at night. But the owners said they felt mean keeping the dogs and kids apart.
Hi Rbud
Christine My friends mastiff is a big sook. Her other dog is meant to be vicious but she is my lap dog
The mastiff is awesome
I figure that's why God invented locks and alarm systems, to keep out the bad guys -- and we could continue to keep our dogs as pets.
Well her 3 dogs are trained as security. More so the Belgium and the Douge the Rotti is too inbred to be smart
I remember one of the pub's dogs leaning against me, and almost upending me.
All 3 are rescues.
One of my nieces had a Rottweiler and a Pitbull. We have a lovely photo ofthe baby lying with his head on one forepaw, while the other was over the baby's chest. The baby was fast asleep.
One of the bad things about living in an apartment - no petas.
Not even a pet!
Wow. My next door neighbour paid a dog bond to have their dog
DD thinks I should get a dog so that I'll walkj each day (I'm very lazy), and if I got a letter from my doctor stating I needed the dog for health reasons, the owner would have to allow it. One neighbor has one for this reason, but another, who just brought in a dog and started breeding it, had to get rid of it. The thought of sending an animal to the pound sends shivers.
Bloody gremlins are having a field day, screwing with my spelling.
we had flash floding today
Was it near last year's burn sites?
I am damn irritated that my teacher wouldn't let me out
Not sure Christine
This year's fires are one of the reasons for our floods. The fires leave a greasy surface to the ground, the rain can't penetrate, and just slides off. There was a shot of a cachebasin that was so full of mud, the drain pipe, which stands 8.5* was buried in the center of the basin. Fortunately, we've had a few dry days, and the mud dried enough that the frontloaders could scoop it. Now they need to find a place to dispose of it.
We have had sod all rain
We're at about 50% over 'normal' rainfall for this year, but after so many years of drought, there's still not enough in store for the coming years. And no-one remembers when was the last 'normal' year.
hink we're the only two still awake.
I even THINK so.
Yes
1996 decent winter
Was that good for rain?
Yep
Yes. That is why I remember
Redhat should be accepted - that's a big women's organization.
I like that idea
I am going to go Christine Take care ok
Oh blow! Why is it only a small one when I am snowed in and have lots of time on my hands!!
Hi Christine, hopefully it willl be bright and sunny from mid March as we are coming to Ranch Mirage for a month of golf
Back again - goodbye Herinfernallady, and hello Deeha and roncook.
Hi Christine - you probably guesss that us Brits complain about more than1 cm of snow and everything grinds to a halt but we did get about 8 inches last night
Good morning Babblers. 18 F here and fresh snow, but not the amount that Washington, DC and surrounding areas received.
One of our complaints is always 'if Anmerica gets it - it comes over here' so its all your faults!!
I'm a Londoner, and I tell people the reason I left home is that I saw a travel poster of sun and sand in So.Cal - and now we have this boomin' rain. We know we need it, just not all at once.
Well, then, Deeha, there's a blizzard coming over.
lol - what am I saying lol??!!
Londoners should be used to rain!
But IU've been here for 49 years, so I'm probably more Angeleno than Londoner. My heart's still a Londoner - aaaaaw.
Dont fret about it - 'fings aint wot they used to be'!
IU've -- what kinda word is that?
Love that song - reminds me of Tommy Steel. Did he sing it?
Its an old London expression - I understood it!!
Hey all!!! Scrabbs are you still here?
Hi Deeha, i`m back of walmer station, sydney road watching the birds in my garden searching for food i have left out
Hi Red
I have a horrible feeling it was Max Bygraves - but I sdaw the original show at Stratford (with Barbara Windsor would you believe)and his version was considerably cleaned up!
Scrabbs, how are you? I am in great distress!
Oh, no, Red, please tell me!
my houseguest...decided in an experiement in not overplanning a trip... to come to the US with no ability to drive a car
Hi Roncook how amazing I am in Reading Close-juat off Station Road.
without making firm plans on where to stay for several of the weeks.
SO now...he has not cash for a hotel...and is seemingly stuck with him, and I find him rather demanding and annoying.
Obviously with you Red!!
I;m got a small one bedroom apartment, and so far he has not cleaned anything, cooked anything and he even let the dog have an accident on the floor rather than walking him when I was not here!!!
How rude of him! Give him a deadline by telling him that you will have another guest coming.
That is the house guest from hell
So he is not really a friend, as you have now learned.
I just don't know what to do, I just sort of stared at him, and said, yo uknow, I had not planned on this, I can not believe you did this.
And you will have to change the lock/key?
Part of the trouble is that he is foreign, and I am know its hard for him, but this was very stupid.
Good for you. Now give him 2-3 days to make plans to depart.
What a boor. Print out a list of hotels about 30 miles away, and send him on his way. Not a friend, even by the most lax definition.
I am taking him to Jacksonville on Friday...And he will at least be gone for one week, but if he intends to just come back here for 2-3 more weeks I am going to scream. I don't get it.
thank you all for listening to me, He is of course a friend on Facebook, so very hard to express myself there.
No Red just be out when he calls back!!
And now, I must depart to take the man to the Kennedy Space Center for the 4th freaking time.
I hate hate the space center after this.
Rant away, honey - no way I'm gonna finish this bloomin' grid.
Deeha I just can not do that to him, he is very far from home.
You and me both Christine!!
do you have the co funny guy? I just found it
Good luck, Red!
Ok I am leaving now, happy babbling all, My day will be spent looking at flipping airplanes and rockets.... all things do pass!!!
No I hadnt Red thanks for that it was a long time since I added a word!!
Bye Red.

phantom: lucubration
good morning, and isn't it funny how words pop up - believe it or not, BR, that word came up in a workshop on Monday - (I was the only one who knew it - are you surprised?)
Hi everyone!
hi Brookie
Delaware's in a state of emergency, I'm stuck at home, and only 69 words in the grid...
hi JBV!
hello everyone
hi west!
hi brookie sometimes these small ones take me all day
I see there is a list though
here too - nothing's moving - I'm waiting for my "snow man" to come plow my driveway today
That's true, west. Oooh, a list! Yeah!
we didn't get as much as they thought we would it just looks all pretty
whereabouts do you live, jbv?
we lost about 12 big branches from the pine trees in the backyard - so far, that's the only damage I can see, thank goodness
central NJ
we got more than a foot
today is my second SNOW DAY - Fri. and Mon. were scheduled as holidays - so I have a very long stretch of quiet time ahead
o
oops
JBV I'm glad none of those big branches hit anything
you'll have a nice opportunity to catch up on other things
And how many words do we have this morning?
69 words
That's what it felt like to me, too.
They are not jumping out at me as they usually do.
JBV, glad you're doing OK -- have been watching the news and so much damage to homes, trees, etc.
the main thing is we have not lost power - so that's good
thanks Une
(and hello to all!)
really wanted redhat to be a word!
not enough vowels in the right places ... good morning Une, JBV, Brookie
me too une
:-D
west, is this awful weather hitting you as well?
there's no one out and about, I find it a little strange, too - don't kids go out and play in the snow anymore - it's a little early now, but even yesterday, while the snow was falling, nobody was out
I remember spending hours outside getting blue, building snow forts, etc. -
can't believe my relatives in Louisiana are gonna get 3-4 inches of snow!
une we didn't get hit as hard as others I guess our time is coming
they are all indoors tweeting and playing wii
maybe parents are afraid they'll get lost in the giant drifts!
BJ LOL!!
I guess so brandyjack
we used to come in, hang up our soaking wet mittens and pants, change into dry clothes and march right out again
I remember those days JBV
and my mom would have hot chocolate and snow 'ice cream' for us!
we used to run our hands under the cold water to warm them
not to mention that they used to put us to work to shovel out the driveway, etc....
or facebooking or some other internet facility designed to let the whole world know exactly what they are doing. Like any of us care. Of course, we won't let them go out and kill themselves with snowball fights or dig snow tunnels in the drifts....
nbt
15 left but I have to take a break - see you later and good luck with the grid, everyone
see you later, jbv
bye JBV don't get your mittens too wet
may I have the stats for the 8 please?

Hi sue
snowed in and this teeny tiny puzzle...
Hi Owl, no work for you today?
hi TO always the way
not till tuesday!
Owl, a pleasant respite
i am heading to nj later or tomorrow
actually annie, with the advent of pc and cell they expect work from home
Owl, please drive carefully (of course you will)
my husband works from home
goes to the office about once a week
snow looked lovely in central park
it just got pretty here we didn't get much at all
r on the right side?
It looked beautiful out my window..live on the 23rd floor and had a great view of the city and all the trees edged in white from above
think church or colon sue
it was terrible to shovel though - very sodden and heavy
don't envy you TO is this the end of it for awhile?
well they are watching something for Monday night
fireworks
yay annie !!
yay annie!
are both d words de?
nm
yes
hmm i don't think this grid is gong to be easy to complete. kudos to you!
just sat there is an 8
Owl, it wasnt that hard once you get the rhythm of it
saw
th8--think lungs
good clue annie
ty annie
have one othe ic word so far
there are only 2 words ending in those 2 letters so you have them
there are 3
ty. down to 13. have you seen any o our riends fro across the pond today?
yes, west, sorry
I had to check lol
not a soul from across the pond
i mean ic as ending. sorry for the confusion
yes, as west said, there are 3
annie how are you doing?

haven't seen any of them so far TO
hmm then i must find another
ac and th so far
I'm okay and hope you are the same. I see the Philly Flowes Show is opening soon or did it open?
co5---funny person
*Flower
no it think it opens feb 28
lol sorry i DO have that one. can't count today!
phone
Hi TO, why are you coming to NJ?
ti celebrate my father's and my bdays
Well, happy b'day. where in NJ
ne bergen county
I grew up in Bergen. Live at the shore now.
The raods are good. Should be okay.
get much snow?
Uh roads
LOTS of snow.
hmm besides the swear word stillseeking top o
Just started. ty for the clue.
TO, alternate spelling for the playful water mammal
don't try oratorio. it doesn't work.
ty pab, and i had the essence, too! doh!
ty pab. Cute bunny.
yw TO and hego
I have a snow day, and there are only 69 words??? durn
actually it is alternate to the essence!
hi kje snow?
hey kje, my sentiments also.
yes... over an inch so far - LOLOL
wait SNOW day?
really, I had wondered, thanks TO
:-P
or you are kidding and you are off?!
everything will come to a standstill
son is flying to D/FW on Monday hope it's gone by then
I am sick... so I am staying home... no "real" snow day, but in fact, yes it is snowing... here, I'll give you a pic - BBIAM
ooh kje, hoped you would be better by now
phantom acrimony
and acne and oratorios and attic and arctic...
Look at all the good words we could have had. LOL
down to 9 and out of ideas at the moment. perhaps time for rench toast?
OH, I'm jealous.
why? now i will hang to get those last few.
down to 4 here back later to dig them out
or is it the breakfast you want?!
OK, there ya go... that is it now, and it is suppose to snow all day... maybe we'll reach 3 inches!!!! whoa!
Of the French toast.
lol west nice hoice of words
TO - was feeling better, did too much, now wiped out... doctors make lousy patients
oops lol
kje i have an extra shovel...can one buy snow shovels where you are?
Yes Drs do make lousy Pts.
acyually, the snow is just enough to be pretty but not really closing roads... beats shoveling 2 feet as I did in MD
pretty picture kje
However, nurses make good ones.
no, nurses make lousy ones too - LOLOL
they get neurotic... know too much
No, No. I've taken care of nurses. They were all great.
get better kje really going now *poof*
worse patient - a pregnant pediatrician... too much too worry about
LOL
actually - it all depends... I have had good and bad in all.. they are no different than the rest of the population
We nurses at least pretend to follow orders. :-)
my dr's pa urged me to come in right away monday to see another doctor only to hear i should keep doing what i am doing and sinus infections go away in three- four weeks .
we are just less tolerant of the foibles in professionals sometimes
Except, as you said know too much.
apparently they don't treat them routinely any more. or she doesn't.
hmmm... tell that to my research nurse who, despite being told not to, drove herself to the ED while having chest pain... then ended up admitted for stent placement... we almost killed her when we found out
Taht's true TO
Sounds tYpical.
they sent you to a specialist for a sinus infection????
well was not the last time i had one. and i told the pa what i had and what i was doing. he urged me to come in instead of waiting for reg doc later in week
Don't want to make a fuss, you know.
yes hego...that is her... no fuss... but if one of her patients did that she would of course have told them how foolish it was... we are all blind to our own stubborness
so it cost me $ to hear i will get well eventually and i am doing everything right. although i don't generally take sudafed and taking it for a couple of weeks just sounds wrong.
Sounds familiar.
sudafed is safe for awhile TO, no worries
heck, I am major dioped right now... have taken 2 zyrtec, a claritin and a sudafed (no comments from you hego)
kje i had a cousin who took OTC cold meds for a while and developed liver issues. doc was mad at him.
doped, not dioped
maybe he was taking multiple meds with acetominophen and didn't realize he was overdosing
;-)
ty very much kje ofr the "consult" - i in sinuses hopefully not very contagious? dad has breathing issues and don't want to expose him. ty for clariying.
on the other hand, I do know the upper limits of these meds so am careful... and notice, I am not driving... but my nose has stopped dripping!
apparently no one is as excited about my nose as I am - LOL
kje...be happy you are in texas...in MD we are under almost 4 feet of snow
so I have seen, seaspray... I use to live in b-more, so have been through some of those
*jumps up and does happy dance for kje* yay!
only thing you can do is determine to enjoy it
LOL TO
my issue is pnd. i guess i need the claritin or that more than sudaed?
this was the worst ever, blizzard on Saturday and another one yesterday, buildings falling down, fire company is presently on fire, son hasn't been home for days
Congratulations on the end of drip kje.
Worst I've seen in a long time Sea
so sorry sea.. stay safe
yes, daughters fiance was out for 5 days, he is a state trooper
yes, TO, most effective for PND is an antihistamine... claritin or zyrtec are your non to low sedating ones
sea - I have a friend who went to st petersburg this week, she will be there for 6 months... they haul snow out of the city in dump trucks every day
she said she has never seen so much snow in her life, and she lived in denmark for 6 years
As ever I am stuck on the last word. Help please?? Re6.21
omg anyone who is on B check out deain's link to storm time lapse.
My sister in law was in Finland and St Petersburg recently and was so disappointed she didnt see any snow at all!!
Mean widdle grid.
will look dee
re6 - preacher
his office is often called the 6y
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH I see it many thanks kje
re6y i mean... see i am doped
yw
too bad, dee... now they are buried
take another antihistamine, why not?
wettest in years, even for them
We had about 6 inches of snow overnight and - as usual South East England has ground to a halt - schools closed no buses no trains!!
*gives hego a dirty look and ignores her*
sorry phone, kje they will definitely be hauling snow for awhile here
:-P
And of course we dont expect snow in the winter so there are no snow ploughs or gritters
it all depends on how much the city can handle... down here, it is about 2-3 inches then full shut down... in B-more, it was a foot, then they ground to a halt... when we had 2 feet one year, the snow plow buried my car
sea i feel for you
NYC is lucky... manhattan just pushes it into the east river! that cracked me up
did you get a lot of snow TO?
they are dumping into thepotomac i heard but Phila has said they will not river dump. Salt and chemicals ans stuff can't be good.
TO- where is the link to the time lapse storm? My husband did one and just curious?
just talked to DIL, son will be home in 3 or 4 hours to rest and go back out tonight
hmm 18-22"
on something called SnoMG
was his set to Fleet Foxes' Winter Hymnal?
bbiab... only 30 words so far, I think I need to sleep
later kje. get some rest.
20 left and pretty much stuck

hello TO!,, I'm trying to figure out how to put my owl (drawing) up as my icon. Ata keeps explaining it, as does pini, but I can't seem to do it
do you have it in a file and if so what type?
ruby if it's on your desktop, just click on my account, go to browse and find your picture, the click open, and then upload.
hi dawg
it's in facebook and in my images. but the format seems to be wrong and I don't know how to adjust
dwon to one
good point, TO. jpg and gif are the only too types, babble accepts
I'll try again right after dinner, which is cooking. I think you'll like the owl
go TO!
resave it as gif or jpeg
hi dawg
too---shoulda been two. Hi ruby
I think it's jpg already
I've been trying to get Max on here without success, but I think the owl would be fun

at+religous text, what is that clueing?
and are we talking about to5
Hi and happy snow day [not]. I'm ready for spring.
anyone have the ac 5?
not me
AC 5 -AC + minnie and ***key mouse
ty Soodle. How are you in Ireland?
do any of the words start with the re* color?
I'm very well, bichon. spring has sprung here - I saw 2 baby lambs the other day, and the daffodils are just about emerging!! Glory Be!
I would give anything to go back to Ireland. We hiked the Kerry Way
My Dad is a Kerryman & thats where I spent my holidays as a child. Wonderful part of the world.
Sue = no red words!
yahoooo
And we had the greatest Celtic speaking guide. Such wonderful memories
I am really pleased you came away with a good impression of the place. Some tourists don't!!
All of the people we met were so nice. I felt at home and of course everyone had a relative in the States
Lol! When were you here, Bichon?
Six orseven years ago. In July
Well, you should come back sometime!!
Beleive me, we would. But there are so many great places to visit in this world. Last summer we went hiking in Norway
We listen to Gaelic music here and our next door neighbors are Celtic musicians
hi
hi doren
hey owl. shoveled out yet?
can any1 help me please with th 8
think chest cavity
except or thre or so inches..unless township plowed me in
doren i asked again for book recommendations. though i doubt libray is open.
th8 - to rhyme with the film island where dinosaurs roamed (Ju******* Park)
Good morning/afternoon all.
you want me to recommend the ones i recommended before, or new ones?
hello haz
hello haz!
HI Haz, Dorens
Bichon, I am so sorry - my connection mysteriously broke.
doren i love your photo!
Got it! thanks Bic very much
Hello Dorens, TO, bichon.
Well done, Rhonda!
course you do, owl... not much different from yours, is it?
clue for the ta 7?
what happens from the sun + scarlett's home
the ones from before doren. i asked via email so i would remember. doren i see phoebe nto snow and i like that!
bichon, do you have the plaid ta6? If so, switch the syllables around and add a vowel at the end.
Bichon - a skin colour you get from the sun, and the old homestead in Gone With The Wind
people of the book, girl withthe dragon tattoo, shadow of the wind
ty Haz and Soodle
Girl With the Dragon Tatoo, one of my all time favorites
I read Shadow of the Wind, it starts off being fascinating but is so long that I had forgotten the beginning by the end. Does that make sense?
did you read girl who played with fire, bichon?
ta/7......... sound of a music instrument
i am coming to nj
yes it sort of does haz, but it was (to me, at least) a truly wonderful book
guess you're snowed out then, owl
we might be driving up to new hampshire... not enough snow here!
yes and itching to go. but i am debating trying recipe for honey pound cake.
Yes, Dorens, grabbed it up right away. I think the third book may be coming out in Britain soon.
or robert e lee ginger cookies
i refreshed...phoebe is gone.
I liked it, probably just as much as the first, but it was different. So sad that there will be no more than the three - owl, you really would like them
why can i eat 2 eggs sandwich and feel ull but two egg french toast and want more food?
that picture really was funny wasn't it? jeremy threw her so high up in the air, she really looked like she was flying
cause the french toast is sweet.... for some reason sweet breakfasts always make me ravenous in an hour or two
doren, folks were skiing and sledding down the art museum steps. streets dept had to pick up all sorts of broekn laundry baskets and flattened cardboard cartons.
heard philly broke snow records
one more book owl... Sea of Poppies by Amitav Gosht
about?
opium trade, india, 19th century. really such a good book, my son gave it to me and i recommended it to my library book group and everyone just loved it
ty

You got three shots too, ruby?

Calm down Rube.

☻
BR, that eyeball is a little disconcerting.
I need some spring
We all need some spring.
There are piles of snow here 8 feet high. ugh
it won't melt till June.
you're kidding, sounds like northern NY state, Oswego
Looks like it too.
I think it was Oswego where they made tunnels on campus because of the piled-high snow
probably
NJ had a winter like here when I spent a year in Princeton, but one swallow does not make.......
these puny, piddling, pathetic grids are so ultracrepidarian
I live in an over 55 development and although I have woods in back, the houses are close together and the lawns small, so ther's not much room to pile the snow from the driveways.
Yes, yes BR
I, for one, small experience that I have, prefer the big ones, full of c's and w's!!!
But it's all done for us. No shoveling. Great!
that sounds OK, but do you have to show proof of age?
To buy here, yes.
One of the owners must be over 55.
I loved Princeton, was a truly great year! Except for the marriage which was rapidly fading....
It's nice. We have a lovely pool and clubhouse .
do the pets have to be over 55 too?
No BR, but any kids must be over 19.
X 7 for dogs
hello friends! taking a tiny break between readings.
Princeton is nice Ruby.
hi mama
how's the grid today?
Hi Stid
I loved it there
Hello, stid. You look so spiffy in that tux
Small and silly
silly is good. *twirls for BR* why thank you! LOL
I'm leaving; I think 50 is all I'll find. Good night everybody
and it is, of course, my elder son, BR. *points to his mustache and beard* my own mustache is not nearly so impressive, I fear.
later ruby ((hugs))
Good nite, Luv. Sleep well.
be well, ruby
thank you all!
Nice lookin boy
thanks hego. I guess he'll do... :-D
:-)
BR, stop staring at me!

oooh. got a 6!

see you-all later! *poof*
Whew, what a whirlwind!
* Where does the catcher sit for dinner? * Behind the plate.
bada bing!

(((FM))) tyvm,we could of extended her life with heavy surgery, but it would of been for us and not for her
You did the right thing.

(((ATA)))
Hey Ata how was the day at the Wildlife Trust?
Hi babble friends...
howdy beach
Hi beach
didn't go :( SNOW
Ohhh what a shame!
really cross
Deeha was on much earlier and I saw she said she had 6" of snow.
sounds about right, and horizontal snow nearly all day
I feel wimpy mentioning a mere 6" compared with what the US is getting but everything is relative.
yes!
Im busy looking at star charts would you believe!
ata i witheld comment on your cursing your weather...
TO Hi again!
okay done. will write my response when I am done with the grid *hugs FM and TO and ATalante and cross and everyone*
lol 6" for us is as much of a standstill as whatever you had. We suck at snow
was ighting a chest high 20" deep wall of plowed packed snow at end of erstwhile cleared driveway. the snow won.
yuck, TO. another day of "vacation" then?
and since it will hard freeze tonight, i see no prospects for tomorrow.
When I went into the garden this morning at 4.30 I swear I have never seen so many stars. Plus the ones I am used to looking at are not quite here. Change of lat/long I guess but am so intreagued.
no stid. it's beyond that. i don't know how to cope anymore.
there is no way for me to remove it.
urf. now D wants attention. bbl when I can!
Oh TO !!
later atalante

sounds like a smart decision FM. So you're all settled in now? *imagines FM surrounded by favorite books and artwork*
It is a wonderful and rural village stiddy and it turns out that jillibus and her Mother were living about half an hour away from where I am now.
OK, awake again... back to try for the last 2
oh how sweet, FM -- the village with the ancient tree? she told me about it last summer!

your photo is really neat! Do the Olympics really begin today?
hi Babblers!
Fireworks! my 4th win and earliest yet :)
Yaaay Bojazz!
thx red
Well, my only news is that I saw a rocket launch today at the Space Center. I found it to be a bit anticlimactic.
hi all
oh too bad red I know you were looking forward to that
hello jmc!!!
whooo hooo bo!
It's ok, I have been having some house guest issues so probably it being the 4th trip I was obliged to make did it to me.
oh i thought the houseguest was going okay -- that has gone downhill?
thx jmc
no the opening ceremonies are tomorrow.
Clue for to5/12 please.
???
the jewish holy book gramma
to5/12 - think Jewish bible
oddly jmc, the Houseguest informed me that he had emailed people he was to stay with in November and that they had never emailed him back
i am so sore from shoveling and would have had several more hours if not for neighbors. they plowed my dribe with a chest high mound of packed ice at one end.
that is odd
how nice of your neighbors
So he was planning on staying with me for the whole time, without asking ahead of time.
if you are speaking to me, not at all. this is a cul-de-sac and neighbor has car permanently parked so i received displacment
why is he such a regular houseguest?
hm red he was goign to stay with you since nov?
sorry TO I understood you to say your neighbors helped dig you out
they did. i thoight the how odd was directed at my township's plowing habits. cross posts
Thank you jmcnrick for the clue for Jewish holy book.
no the how odd was to red
yw gramma
the neighbors were NOT those with the car.
I finally figured out he is just sort of an ass, my Psychiatrist friend thinks he may have Aspbergers.
so imagine the amt of snow displaced by a 1988 grand prix they were trying to put somewhere else
Who makes plans to come to a foreign country without actually having a place to stay first?
my nephew has aspbergers and he is hard to deal with
oh my red, did not know he was from outside US. where?
he lives in another country?
He is from South Africa.
wave to the nice people wht ;-)
wht and I are at the same meeting and we gossiped about babbleland
I ranted quite a bit about this this morning and to be honest if he is Aspberger's it is just that he processes things in a different way...and I need ot be nice.
how did you meet?
well rant away and then you will be better able to be nice to him
down to 3 left - all ta5,10 - help please
ta 5, first= sun-browned + from me ** you
oh my je i am going to hell for the cursing i did at that other neighbor. seriously. out loud to a neighbor in the street in public.
the only ta5/10 I have is like the sauce for fish minus one letter zealot
hi jell
Hello! Just popped in for a bit because I'm stalling...
well we can be in hell together then TO -- you heard about the guy who parked in my parking spot that I left a ladder in
what are you stalling about jell *sticks nose in*
ty Jelien and jmc
ta5 gypsy card reading.
Oh, just getting ready to go out to a business dinner...
yw

I am a bit late coming to the chog But Hi all. {waves}
Yay, zealot!!!
I have dinner in 45 minutes and we get to clean up afterwords
wtg zealot
whooo hooo zealot
7 left. haven't listed yet.
Hi, wht
hi wht
23 left and I just decided to list
wtg mix
but you've already finished the grid and I'm just starting.
are you two together?
Oops. thought you were done jmc.
we are in the same building but I am staked out in my room
We are currently in the same building and I am in the living room.
not me wht i am still flogging the last part
in boston?
no outside of Albany at a quaker retreat center
TO sorry, he and I met on a project in Africa, he was only there for a few days and so with the structure there I had no idea that he could be so demanding.
sorry i should have remembered. i swear my memmory is going.
well and people are different when they are staying with you
red i am sorry - ty for admiring my yard, it now has about 7 inches more snow.
more zinc TO
How long have you had the houseguest, red?
too long! lol
Ooh...and no sign of leaving?
no hope je. no hope. I am always very hesitant to be a houseguest.
he's staying with her for about a month
i am often stuck being a house guest since the people who invited me to speak or train don't have the $$$ for a hotel
A long time in the best of circumstances...
Well, it is difficult to be a house guest as well, but...
i wouldn't want my best friend to stay with me for a month
I am taking him to Jacksonville and he will spend a week there, and I think he is starting to see that I do not want him back for a while.
that must be interesting je.
what? staying at people's houses?
yes.
it has it's pluses and minuses but I prefer a hotel
good evening everyone !
hi mom
but you are not there for too long
I'm being removed from the computer...sigh!
hi mom.
when you stay at a house you get to know someone pretty well
Hi and bye, Mom...
bye jell (can't you fight back?)
hi and bye Jellen
Hi TO
Hi JMC
but at a hotel I don't have to worry about other's needs
I am always afraid I will be a pain to them
TO you were a very considerate guest
*blushes* why ty!
back again for those last few words
hi jes
i can relate a funny giest story where a firend tried so hard to make me welcome she put fresh lowers i the room. but they had aphids that jumped on me all night.
and i did not know how to tell her!
lol!
hi jes
i mean we were all hippies then and there i was on my mattress on the floor with those damned bugs
sorry -- I stayed at a house where they wanted me to feel at home and made me a special breakfast th** made me want to puke!
*trying to imagine TO as a hippy*
but on the plus side i got to see the beautiful pacific ocean. i have the pic with hair down to there
says silent prayer that I have not had to stay somewhere like TO and JMC
hi all
**waits for TO to dig out pic and put it as an icon
HI Boo
LOL no mom it was all good, it was just one of those things. eventually i did and we got a big laugh.
hi boo
i want to see that pic
oh no, hard copy if i could find it
i never told my hosts but arranged to have breakfast meetings the next two days
scan it TO
very diplomatic je.
*jumps up and down to force TO to scan the pic*
that's me - miss diplomacy
no scanner. have been wanting to put family pic on fb and cannot.
now did I say THAT?
what was worse was the clock inthe guest room made a different sound on the hour and woke me up all night long
take photos to local photo store or Kinkos
or should i say very resourceful. ooh clock noise is the worst in a strange place.
it sounded like a different bird each hour on the hour
supper is in one hour. Mini meat loaves, baked potatoes and corn
i think i will go get dinner. i feel robbed that today's grid was so short.
the first night I couldn't figure out why I woke every hour on the hour
th8 clue please?
yum mom
I agree TO, it is hard enough to sleep somewhere strange but clocks or any kind of noise ...
OMG! @ bird clock! you have to be kdding!
your chest cavity jes
TH8 relates to the lungs (as clued this morning)
the kind of surgeon that deals with the neck to the chest
d'oh
thanks
i want to smash the clock!!
hi babbz
mom is that the recipe in your proile?
*wanted
hi all - how is everyone this afternoon?
yes TO, it is
hi there jmc
at7?
I am fine Babbz how about you?
i am fine -- finished my meetings for the day
not bad, thanks
tomorrow is a different story
i keep wanting to make atomic but it doesn't work :(
sounds yummy. i should go to store to getr hamburger, sale ends today.
the old saying Opposites at7
you need to dress right to at7 the right attention
nm. found it.
maybe i will, will be good to get out while i can still check for icy roads.
ah, thanks, mom :) saw your clue right after the monkeys found the word.
we like them very much. Inge had asked me a long time ago to post the recipe and I forgot to take it off.
have a good afternoon all.
you have until monday for the next storm TO
Anyone have an idea of something fast to make for dinner tonight? I have to go to the store.
bye Jes and you are welcome
not due to work till tues but due to dentist on monday
u2 jes
how hungry babbz?
bye jes
how about tacos
medium hungry, not starving
Monday is a federal holiday
omelets or frittata?
tacos is a good idea
quesdillas
burgers
omelet is too.
steak and eggs
good ideas...if i did omelets i wouldn't have to shop
baked mac and beef? Spaghetti?
i always forget about having breakfast for dinner and the fam seems to like it
if not order out
pizza
one of my fav suppers is pancakes
lol like that idea even better, boobear!
i like potato and egg frittatta. i use ore ida potatoes o'brien to avoid peeling potatoes and onions.
good idea TO
the pwestern omelets are good
pancakes - TO that sounds good too. are those the frozen hash browns you're talking about?
yes, but you will need parmesan or romano cheese and a pinch of basil.
yum, love hash browns
i used to make pasta salad by boiling pasta and then throwing in frozen veggies for the last few, drain, dress and serve
the o'briens have onion and peppers
i have both parmesan and fresh basil
you can always peel and cube potatoes and dice onions if you have them.
the pasta salad is good idea too, but husband will be digging through the whole bowl looking for the meat, lol
I had pancakes last night, deee liciios!
LOL i know what you mean bab
jesdraggon, are you still here?
you can do lots of things with parmesan and fresh basil
gosh, i wouldn't have even thought about pancakes for dinner but good idea, and different.
so throw in some sausage to the pasta salad
Hi Red. Jes left just a bit ago
and the parmesan and basil
i have tomatoes, too - but no sausage, would need to shop
aunt just gave a good recipe from giada for carrots peas and bowties with cream cheese melted in and parmesan
you guys have GREAT ideas!
any cooked meat
maybe even cut up some lunch meat and put in like ham or turkey.
sounds good
oh good i don't have to go out.
oh rats, I keep missing her ahh well...
ok i would rather pay 2x the price for hamburger than get off my a$$ right now. pitiful.
LOL TO. See the movie "Food, Inc." and you may not ever eat hamburger again in your life!
lol TO you worked hard shoveling -- give yourself a break
who did you miss red?
lol TO, I am in the same boat as you
not me babbz -- when i saw chicken run which was clearly to get me not to eat chicken i wanted a roast chicken for supper
Was that the animated movie about chickens?
yes
9 left
Go jmc
I've got 22 left
chicken run
Never saw it...actually Food, Inc. was pretty interesting...but I didn't realize how much the fast food industry rules the roost on how food is delivered in the U.S., and it's an eye opener.
18 left here
one of the funniest things i ever heard was Ellen D. saying that since she was the voice for a fish in Finding Nemo she could never eat fish again
go mom
go wht!
I gotta get to work on the grid...procrastinating again
lol babbz
And my nearly 80 year old mother is sending me dirty jokes on the internet. I never would have thought I would see that!
*shocked look*
No kidding!
well sorry the grid was so tiny, i think i will go nuke dinner. that is about the level of effort i have.
my microwave just went out today, boo - may be time for a new one. how long are they supposed to last these days?
i was shocked enough when i found my then 80 year old mother and my 10 year old son playing black jack at my mothers assisted living facility
gotta scoot off here, sweetie is home. See you all in a bit. {{hugs}}
bye TO and Mom
LOL jmc
by guys
I guess I will save the last 8 for later
bye JMC and TO
bye Babb

hi welki
bugs did I ask you if aug 21 or 28 would work for you for the NW meetup?
That sounds like so much fun. jmc.
i figure i should travel while I can wht
either one will work for me but I will need to check with jilli and flosey to see if they want to come and trust me to drive. Since they are both retired I would hope either date will work for them too.
while you can?
Anyone is welcome wht! We are hoping for Seattle or Olympia Washington in August. Make it a holiday
well my job doesn't constrain me -- in fact i can always do work when i travel, i am young enough to go where i want and I no longer have to worry about my mother

FCNL has some interesting things to say about it
lol not with a de! red
and now I have the other d too. Thanks for the support
I need to become more involved.
sure bugs
I've been feeling tht for some time, I just can not fathom driving 2-3 hours each Sunday for Meeting.
how can this be? 1 left already?
Bugs!!!!!! you can do it yes you can!
red aer you a Quaker too?
firesomething
I am, but I am a very lapsed attendee of meeting.
YAY welki!
well have you thought of starting your own worship group?
When I was a kid we drove an hour each way to Meeting each Sunday.\
whoo hooo welki
and wht too?
fgc hsa some nice ads from the outreach committee that you can place in a local paper: are you a quaker and don't know it
Actually jmc, I was thinking about calling the Orlando meeting and see if there wasn't something more local, sometimes people have things in thier homes...
wht, your parents were highly committed.
I sucked wht into the grid during a quaker board meeting bugs!
I went to a meeting in the GA sea islands red
I thot you did not have a worship service but spent time in contemplation. I would not have the discipline to drive that kind of distance to pray. I just set time aside each day
They claim they were driven to it when the preacher in the local church preached a sermon on the need to support the president during the Cuban Missle crisis.
perhaps you didn't "suck him in" as much as "invited him to join". It sounds more churchy
Being in a group meeting is a little different than contemplation alone. It has a way of evolving into it's own being.
lol no I think sucked him in was correct
he started reading over my shoulder
meeting for worship is different from praying alone bugs
and now wht says there is a sermon so I think I should think I should try it. I know I share the belief system
Nice wht! My Father got his Bachelors degree at Earlham and found it more to his liking that Methodism.
depends on the meeting Bugs, if you want a Sermon, you need to look for a "Programmed" meeting.
it is not th** we don't have a service it is more th** it is not planned out in advance
and now to address doing Babble in the middle of a board meeting jmc... I take it you are not as dedicated as you would like to be?
your dad is a quaker? how did th** not come up red?
i am quite as dedicated as I want to be! lol
Well, jmc, I believe he would tell you he is an Agnostic or something. I believe he is a rather private man about religion, but if pushed, he would be a Quaker.
ah I can understand th**
itis just during some reports i babble rather th** nap ;-)
i think anyone who didn't already have the th** would have figured it out by now guys ;)
but i don't want to go to the pb jacula drove the cabana boys away and locked up the liquor cabinet
you need to start using words i haven't already found!
*lurk mode*
always the co5/15 pinny! lol
I lived with a Quaker family for a time when I was a teenager and I loved them to bits. My mother was bipolar but no-one knew then so it was quite weird growing up. I learned so much about gentle guidance and how effective it is from them. Wonderful people
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
i started hanging with quakers ci5/14 1980
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
hi min
that's more like it, jmcnrick!
what at7ed me to them was the social witness and lack of fluff
JMC, i have options for you: turkey Lasagne, pizza, and salmon with cajun seasoning....in the PB.
social witness part worries me a tad.
always go for the pizza...
how so bugs?
I can go and be quiet can't I?
A's Almost Abolised! 1 left
for example they have no re6/21 or other church staff to tell me what to believe
did I do something to warrant the PB???
go min go
LOL Min
no but you said you were scared of it...
not by my reckoning
too true red ty for restocking
Oh Bugs you can go and be quiet. the Social witness is not talking in meeting.
you should check out CFSC Canadian Friends Service Committee bugs
I am not as comfortable when people who profess their faith publicly. I am just happy being the only Bible some people read.
well i would say we more live our faith publicly that profess it
i will check it out jmc. I know there is a meeting in my community in someone's home. I just don't want to intrude on anything by showing up and being ignorant of protocol.
well the protocol is to show up on time and wait and see what happens
th** I can do!
they probably would be happy if you called in advanced and talked about if it would make you feel more comfortable!
thanks jmc. If that would be ok, I just might do that this weekend
I am done! I have fireworks! at 732 was my last word
whoo hooo min!
I will be here off and on to give clues until I go to bed
th** was fast!
no paragraph for pinny?
Maybe later. I have to get ready for work tomorrow.
I did one late last night right before the flip at 12:30.
Ihave 19 left and better list in case there are some really obvious ones
i always enjoy your paragraphs
go bugs go
29 left here and quite....slow going...
go red go
17 left and need to list. who has it in their profile?
Thanks jmcnrick! Always enjoy doing it. They are fun
lickety is working today pinny
I am still relaxing, forcing my South African friend to watch the concert at the WHite house....He's having an eye opening.
Lickety is up & running today PinnyPoppins. I used it
oh wow! and here i was slogging it in the normal mode
what concert?
its good practice pinny! lol
the Pres is having a concert of Civil Rights Music at the white house, its on PBS live. beautiful music.
haha - it has actually been good fun working the grid normally for the last couple of days
culd I have some clues for the R words on the right hand side of grid. I have the preacher guy.
errr could I please.
re5=the first letters of the preacher
the other re5=change the last vowel
re 5/12: ***reational park plus half of british goodbye
next re 5/12 is same word, ends with different vowel
thanks!

Congrats Pinny
it is a tough age, and a tough time all around, you're a good mom, DR
Congratulations PinnyPoppins on fireworks! Hooray!!
I try- there is no instruction manual and I remind Jake of th4 every now and then
according to the press, Canada should get a lot of medals red but sometimes the pressure is just so much to do well for national pride that the tension gets to them. I just enjoy seeing some of the sports done well.
th8
whooo hooo pinny

Does anyone need a ha 4/6 with clues? Here's a story of clues. So I had two snow days in a row.I thought I would be ic 4/6 in with the snowstorm, but I wasn't.I babbled all day & husband ra 4/4ed & raved as usual. He thinks that I should spend more time cleaning the house th 4/5 babbling, but I don't agree with th 4/5. I'm more at7/32ed to babbling th4/5 cleaning. I took a break earlier to eat some ri 4/5 for dinner. Now I'm going to tr4/4 to the fridge to get something else to eat. I will be back soon.

No seriously LB I got told to shut up yesturday for asking questions and then mattered something rude when asked a question.

what is bamboo other than bamboo??????not sure what to make of that clue. must think.
ra6/10 ra + sun=colored
ra5/10 sorry typo
MKG have you heard of the rods they use to smack people? or the furniture made of bamboo?
At work? herinfern? Questions not allowed? really?
ty got it. the furniture of bamboo was the tip i needed.

Classes Stid
sry
They are young and stupid. Sorry ADHD seems we were typing the same clue at the same time
lol
No questions in classes? Hope that policy changes. Are you taking or teaching?
10 to go.
is there a list for this grid? i played/monkeyed only 27 words so far
good clue adhd.
go mkg
Taking It was one of the students I have issues with. If i could get away with rearranging her face I would.
I personally think it's up to the teacher to "fix" that problem of bad mouthing students. I have had several cases in which I had to ask the offenders to remove themselves from my class, as I would not tolerate their rudeness.
back in an hour, bones is on. (hi Dodo!)
See girls say it at just auditable level that the teacher can't hear. I turned around and told her to shut up stop being such a bitch
7
need ta 6 18 clues for both of them please.
one of them is scottish plaid mkg
2nd ta6/18 = Scottish plaid
I need the 1st ta6

hey lb (if u r still here)

Is it a tough grid?
HI Pini and NEf
so i still need first ta 6 18 clue please. not the plaid, the other one.
it's doable...
not so tough nef, cuz lickety is up.
i like the short grids. time for me to finish them.
Hi herin, how are things going for you today?
ta6 = sunkissed skin + Happy ***ils to you...
shitty and you
uh oh...hi herin...sorry to hear you're having a crappy day...
Wow. What's wrong, herin?
ty ty pini. great clue. got it.
and with tr** i am done!
Day off crap day yesterday still feeling crappy today.
herin, whats wrong????????
wtg mkg ;)
ty pini. i had super clues from super cluers.
oh-oh. I hope you didn't catch my cold!
any hoot enough about me. Hope you guys are not too terribly snowed under
what's snow????
where are you from pini? florida? calif? new mex? ariz?????????
Oregoon
- o
Why ok cold
Pini, it's that white stuff that is making my driveway nearly impassible. I now have to throw the snow over 4-5 feet snow piles when shoveling
(koda stepped on the keyboard)
here we have snow above my waist.........i love it! as long as the power is on and we have heat and lights i am super. shoveled and loved every second. very envigorating indeed..........
Wow! I suppose if you sent 1/2 out here, we'd all be even!
i am in DC and the govt was shut for 4 days now. tomorrow they are open.
today it melted a lot lot lot. nef good luck as you are in the coldest area............
where are you pini?
Oregon, mkg
If we get any more snow, backing out of driveways will require flagmen!
Guess Obama got his snow wish
oregon? on the coast? they dont get much snow but inland you do get snow, right? how far from portland are you? north, south east or west?
I'm about 2 hours south of Portland in the valley...we don't get much snow if any...
nef here too it is dangerous. the street is plowed enough for one car and it is a two way street. on tues, i moved to the right to let another car by and went into the snow on the side of the road, and damaged my car to 900 dollars worth..........darn! and to back out of my driveway is very dangerous cuz i cant see cars coming either way due to the snow banks
I think it was Marion Berry who asked for all the white powder herin.. not obama
nice area pini. i love oregon. i lived in seattle 2 yrs and never got over learing.
kinda makes ya wanna stay home, eh, mkg?
hi ru ;)
hahahahaha ruru.. ..........hahahahah....... ..marion already has lots of white powder doesnt he??????
stepped away for a minute or two and what? mkg. sry for you... where r you? we were supposed to get a foot and lucky if we got 4 inches
nope. want to get out. went to the gym and swam and worked out. good to go there. great weather to walk in. and the white is so pretty and so happy
HI RU
also went thru stuff and have tons in the garage waiting for goodwill. felt so good! got rid of a lot of crap.
i love it too, which is why i was bummed we got nuthin
The Cities have now announced Snow Emergency parking in effect til April 1. No parking on 1 side of the streets, and if it snows, we can't park on Snow Emergency routes until they are cleared curb to curb. It keeps the traffic moving (esp. if you can't find parking places!) ;-)
you probably didn't understand the joke herin..being an aussie..
I just deleted 4000 emails man I am lazy
you'd have to live in DC to laugh at that one
4,000! wow!
Nef can people park on the foot path?
did you read them first, herin?
OK I get the white powder thing but not the name
what foot path? It's buried under the plowed snow
ta7?
Nope Nef. They have been sitting there since feb. Some I have kept most binned
he was the Mayor of Washington DC I think and he had a prostitute and cocaine problem that brought him down and embarassed the city
I don't know Nef. Just a guess. We get into huge problems parking on the naturestrip
Ok Ru thanks
ta7 is like the ta6 following, add another vowel in 3rd position from end
or sun brown + Gone with the Wind home
Thank you Pinikula!
yw
The good thing about this last snow storm is that for some reason all of the ice ruts are now gone... they've been in the roads since the Christmas- New Years storms.
phantom = micro
sigh
(((herin))) It will be better soon
The kitty even gave me a hug last night it was very cute
What are you ill with?
phantom = andrew
hi all
just tired with classes
and stupid people
Hi NR
dug out two cars here in Lambertville, NJ today, and my injured shoulder is now reminding me that it is, in fact, an injured shoulder
hi nrkii
is your snow heavy?
it got heavier as the day went on
herin, how much longer til you graduate?
NR you really shouldn't do that Hire a kid to do it. Gess
I dug out one car at 2, because I could see it was getting heavier, and the other at 6
the kids were all gone sledding
they don't need money any more -- that's what grandparents are for
I shouldnt have dug out the 2nd car -- was a neighbor, but I felt bad for her -- she hasn't been able to get to her car in 2 days
Well make them do it
oh, and the city guys dumped a TON of snow in the parking area behind my house... as in, on my property
Just started up this term one more year NEf
so I won't be parking there till July
I've been very lucky this winter. Our heavy snow came after I had surgery, and my neighbor came and plowed our driveway each time it snowed since then. He's been working overtime this past week, so hasn't been able to keep up as well now.
I just did it as a surprise for her... she brought me dinner earlier in the week for no special reason... it's that kind of neighborhood
THat was nice of them. NR did they get permission to do this or is it one of those''it's an emergancy situtation shut up and put up''?
Is that legal, nrkii? They can't do that here!
apparently they got permission from my neighbors, so I'm not really mad about it... I hardly ever park back there, and I had told my neighbors I was going to park in a nearby lot
I just had to laugh about it... at least 6 foot high wall of snow... it will take forever for that to melt
I would make an igloo out of it
I parked in the lot because I thought they'd plow me out quicker there... WRONG... way too much snow for them to keep up
igloo's a good idea, maybe I'll convince the neighbor kids to do that
might as well enjoy it
Depends or not is the snow safe and cleanish to play with?
I'm going to go build an igloo for my neighbor boy tomorrow if my coughing is gone. I've coughed so hard this week that my chest wall hurts (the cold aggravates the cough)
:( Don't go out NEf
herin, DH has cabin fever now; so it's easier to build a snow fort than drive him here and there chasing down stuff he thinks he needs.
the best way to build an igloo is in a fence corner. pack and pack high, then pour water on top of the entire thing and leave till the next day to carve. my dad and his friend used to build them for us and ours was the only one left standing in the neighborhood
i miss playing in the snow
what is snow (LOLOLOLOL)
I feel for all of you!
* the second one was honest!
i love it. DC got my snow!!
all we ever get is rain
you must not be in southern california then. the song says "it never rains in southern ca"
My little neighbor boy is going to be 3 next month. He calls me Gramma and loves having me play with him. Once last summer he came over and asked me to come out and play (he's slipped away from his parents in less than a minute!) So we put a yellow nylon rope out in the driveway and told him he couldn't cross the yellow line; and he didn't cross it for the rest of the summer (of course, "Gramma" door was on the *right* side of the line!
aw how sweet
I love it NEf- great story
how old is dirt?
Yes, ADHD - the song says it doesnt rain, it pours
my 5 yr granddaughter asked me if there were cars when i was a kid
older than you! ;-)
I had a 2 yr old ask me how old I was- I told her older th4 2.
Nef that is very cute.
This little boys' parents are from Iran, his dad has been a citizen and lived here 22 years; his Mom has been here 4 years and she just passed her citizenship test! Both sets of grandparents are dead; so I really feel like his gramma. (I get to go watch her being sworn in as a US citizen in 2 weeks)
Herin- How are you?
Very Cool Nef!
average. Eating a chip sandwich
i was babysitting for a 4 year old who told me that his dad was really old "he's 41. you'll be that old someday"

hey lady!
Hi stidmama, yes I am still here but not winning any lottery that will put me on easy street.
i cannot believe how anyone could fall for these emails, but i know of 2 seniors who did... one lost money, only 800 dollars, but at 82 and on limited income. that's sad
oh well, we'll just have to enjoy the simple life a while longer then. do you need any help, Mother?
well i just culled 4000 emails
they come from all over... some countries i've never heard of.
gee you're popular lady! LOL
Help, help? Yes. What about the re words (3) and the tas that are driving me nutty.
I think they make the countries up. Why not it is consistent with the pack of lies.
oh, the re 6 is like a vicar
the two previous have same first four letters and end in vowels.
Happy Birthday, Jellen!!
most people wouldn't know if the country was real or not.
4000 emails from about September and that is only one account
i average about a fifteen hundred a month. time to change the address.... again
the Ta were fun... she said ta**fully, beginning with the trumpet fanfare (ta7) ta* color and the home of Scarlett O'Hara...
folllowed by a spanish word for "so much
I have this account for about 11 years
and a word that looks like "OM" (ma****)
let me know when you need more... LOL
One of my teachers asked how we did research and most of the kids said GOogle I said ''google what was that''

it's cold . . . but no white stuff!
*wonders how Mother is doing*
stidgmere?
Can you believe at further education after a year the kids didn't know how to research properly
UNEEEEEE
HERIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AD I suggest steam
am i the only one who tried to get acrimony??
just another sinus infection and bronchitis... like the fourth time this winter already. germs love me

i tried to find acrimony, bo. i just knew it had to be there.
or cataract
i use moist sinus hotpack hubs got me (it's awesome)
just knew i had found an 80 pt word!
i just had the funniest email. my friend was telling me about her youngest niece saying she was in her "late 9's" (she'll be 9 in May!) lol
the best thing is really and old remedy... a few inches of water in the bottom of a spaghetti pot with 2 tablespoons of vinegar. boil to make steam, cover head w/towel and lean over the pot
lol lb kids say the darndest things
my mom used to make me stand over steam with a towel :-)
i'm on my fourth book of kidisms... funny things my grands say
OMG some of my classmates are going to a spa for the day in March. I cannot believe how expensive it is! I am totally not going to try to justify going.
too cute, LBD
see? it works
my mother did, too.
actually, she'll be 10, my fingers are going wonky
my mom put a mustard plaster on my chest. she didn't know you weren't supposed to RUB it in vigorously, just lay it on... my chest burned like crazy. and anyone remember the camphor that you wore around the neck
i loved my grandson's comments at christmas..."oooh, guys, I've always wanted this...what is it?"
vicks vapo rub! on the chest and back!
Stid it does sound expensive.
Vicks on the feet too
my mother used to use camphor in the humidifier. yuck.
oh god, yes, vicks
yep, vicks too.
remember that, but that was later. she put vics in the vaporizer
on the feet??
on your feet? did they make you run faster?
ADHD, have you tried the saline nasal spray or the nose rinse pots?
apparently
i had to wear the camphor
hey Nef
No idea LB
lbd, bet you could really git 'r dun with vicks on your tootsies!!
it waas in a tiny fabric bag attached to a string
you must ask your mum why she did that, herin.
Put on feet so little kids cant get it in their eyes
Put vicks on feet feet in socks and sleep
hey stid. How are you feeling tonight?
well, I am fading fast. I tried to get everything done today, but I am sure I forgot a few things. Going to go to school for the full day tomorrow. With luck, I will make it through!
Good luck stid ..
don't push yourself, stid. you don't need to relapse
Night Stid
I am tired Nef, I stayed home to work, and it was a good decision. Just driving in the afternoon (ten minutes each way) to get the kiddo from school was a bit much.
good luck tomorrow stid
good luck, stid
sleep tight, stiddy -- FYI I'm leaving early early to pick up a rescue dog and drive her to the beginning of the next leg of her trip to Connecticut!
otherwise, I felt happy to be able to read, and to think well enough to write a little.
see you-all tomorrow or Saturday. (((hugs and choclits))) *poof*
Speaking of funny things that children say,I had five year old student give me a Christmas present before vacation. When I saw him in school after vacation he said, "Did you like my Christmas present?" and I said, Yes, I loved it! Thank you so much!" and then he said Oh good!.Then he paused for about five seconds and then asked, "What did I give you?" I started laughing
sweet sleep, stiddy
bye stid!
cute, min LOL!
lol, min
At least he asked you and not the other way round
LOL, so true, herin
Well on that cute story, I am off to bed.Goodnight all
Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow
good night Min
night night, Min. sweet sleeps
Niters Min ..
nite min
i have a lobster question
claw away
how much of a whole lobster is edible?
all of it! (except the shell)
Good night Min.
everything but brain no?
Belly meat and claws
i was always told not to eat the brain
why, ADHD?
well, i can get a 12-14 oz lobster of 6.99 or just the tail for 4.99, and was wondering which was the bargain.
don't even know. i was told that the first time i ever had (at 17) at my parents friends picnic
i think the brain is like the "mustard" of a crab, mostly non edible or not very tasty.
now i want to know lol
ADHD, remember the cajun saying "i suck the heads" (crawfish)
You are better getting the meaty tail than pising about with the body unless you are up for disection. Are they live lobsters?
lobster institute says, lobsters don't have brains
http://www.redlobster.com/press/media_ kit/crackalobster.asp
no, herin. these are pre-cooked.
i knew that, but it's some wee little part in the head; and those fin-like things that look like lungs aren't edible?
OK I say go the Tail but that is because I hate pissing about with the lobsters. My b.f used to cook them for work. They used to stab them through the head then pot them
this says not to eat the tiny brain and that the gills aren't edible either http://www.melobster.com/how-to-eat-lo bster.shtml
I'd say go for the tail ..
hello
hey, harp :-)
howdy, tor!
HI Harp and Torg
the tamolley is supposed to be a delicacy
ok, all done -- nite, all! *poof*
Heyas kids ..
I guess I've never seen the "tiny black ball" that's the brain before
WTG, Unea!!!
hi tor
Night UNE
night night, Unea!
The edible parts of the lobster are the tail, the legs and the claws. The roe and the green tomalley found in its body are also edible. The flesh of the lobster accounts for only 30% of its total weight.
i think the claws are the best! even better than the tail. i'm not big on rock lobster tho
hey, harp! How are you? I'm going to be in MT around and over the 4th of July; want to do a get-together with lbd during that time?
think i'll just get a couple tails and a nice steak for sunday.
Hi harp!
hey nef, where will you be? Montana is a pretty big place!
did you freeze your tukus off, harp?
My nephew is getting married in Polson, we'll be staying in Columbia Falls and visiting in Missoula

Beyond help here thanks
ac5?
when you live in the frozen tundra, you gotta find fun where ever possible! :-)
ac5 ac + speak into the ***rophone
thanks never heard of it
o crap I missed an important email
oh-oh
uh herin
ac5 is the adjectival form of the Ac** Corporation that Wiley E Coyote and Roadrunner used.
it wasn't one of the 4000 you just dumped, was it?
that ac5 is the adjective of a familiar noun... i like the word; gonna add it to my list
The ac4 vowel form means peak of excellence of perfection.
Ok I read it not that important thank goodness. No Nef this was the other 1000 in the other account
HI Jac
I popped in earlier and clicked on NRKII's bio. She had a recipe in there for chocolate chip pumpkin muffins. Somehow, I managed to read that as chocolate chipmunk muffins. :-/
also: the highest or most critical point or stage (as of growth or development) ... medical defi
Hi Herin.
ADHD - true.
Would not like to know what chipmunk muffins taste like
wasn't there some site for wording... you put in letters you want to include and exclude
ha5?
eww
are they furry?
They would be chocolatey at least ..
ha5 take a cha*** and try to figure it out. you can do it!
and they'd probably make your cheeks puff out too
thanks
I should be tired out by now, but I'm not after having 'fasting' blood samples taken early yesterday morning. It was only about 30ml of blood in the 3 tubes, my daughter later informed me (well, that's 3 bloodless fingers at the very least!) Whatever, even after coming home, having tea and toast I felt so drained I went to bed and slept for 2 and a half hours. I'm only 5' 1" and a twiddle tall. 30ml is a lot to me. LOL
i'm allergic to chipmunks. can't eat anything with chipmunks in it
Herin, if chipmunk muffins taste like chipmunks smell, they would not be nice.
Nutty flavoured?
Jac, here in the US our "big" blood tubes hold between 5 and 7 mls; so they wouldn't take too much from you. I take it you don't ever donate blood? (That bag they take is about 500 ml)
what's a twiddle... I've been telling people for years I'm 5'1 1/2" tall. last year said, why bother measuring me, i've been 5-1.5 forever. the nurse said noooo. you've been coming here since 1983 and you've always been 5-1.
Jac I donate 400ml every 3 months you must be hard to take blood from
i have a cousin who's 4-10
next to her i feel tall
AD is that 4''10 short:D
Nef - my Other Half is a Silver donor now. It's a pint at a time + about 20ml of test blood beforehand. He's 6' 2", big built and he's exhausted afterwards.
i'm in the midst of all kinds of testing and last month they took 14 vials. i was told the record is 19. only a few were the tiny ones. they kept me forever
been living at the lab for months...i think they're stashing and selling it to the nightdwellers
Herin - I have naturally low blood pressure, which is one of the reasons I am not a blood donor, despite having a blood group only 8% of the population have. (A Positive)
A Negative, I meant. LOL
DH and I donate about 4-5 times/year. Sometimes he donates double bags. As a nurse, I gave tons of blood when I worked in ICU. (I wasn't allowed to donate then, too many blood exposure risks they said). We used to weigh each unit we gave
DH is A neg; I'm A pos
yep 4'10" short. her nickname is "little"
ADHD - 'a twiddle' in height measurement is, as far as I'm concerned, not enough to measure or worry about to make it to the next quarter or half inch of height.
then i guess i'm just a plain old 5-1
i come from a long line of munchkins... the tallest guy 5-7, tallest gal 5 feet. my dad's mom was under 5 feet, but i heard she was a powerful little thing. she was a court interpreter, spoke 7 languages and also sang opera. she died when my dad was 9
Dang Jac you really could be handy in that department if you didn't faint after giving blood
Nef - when I was pregnant with my first child, the doc, realising my blood group, immediately asked my hubby to come in to have his blood tested. Amazingly, he was also A Neg, as was his mother.
boy if taking blood took off pounds i'd weigh about 3 pounds by now
My new partner has the most useful blood of all. Can't remember what group it is but it can be given to everyone.
wow, talk about compatability
O positive
Is that it, Herin? Thanks.
Think so that is what I am
yep.
type O universal donor; AB universal recipient
Oneg and ABpos sry important part
late, brainful of boogers
brb... fire needs another log
We may be small ADHD, but good things come in small packages. However, it's bloody annoying in the supermarket if you can't find either something to stand on, something long to bat the things off the back of the top shelf towards you, or a tall person to reach them for you.
Something interesting that we noticed in our ICU is that a majority of the people who needed blood were A pos or O pos. When I commented about that to a doc, he said that out on the east coast where he was from (Delaware or Conneticutt, I thnk) the majority were B pos!
(If you ever buy a pack of long dried spaghetti that's a bit broken, it's probably one I've used to reach things off top shelves.) *grins*
can someone bath me and do my house work OR at least push me in the direction of the shower
Jac my friend is 6'10 he is handy to go shopping with
Nef - so blood groups are area-related then? Probably due to family groups sticking around? Or maybe even compatible blood group types being attracted to one and other? That last comment is not so daft as it sounds if you look at blood type research - food preferences, personality types etc.
Herin - he sounds very handy to shop with. What dates is he available? LOL
Err not until March 20th
But I need to go to the supermarket a few times before then! *sighs*
Jac, I think the difference might be related to ethnicity too. A lot of Native Americans are type B; this area of the US is settled with a lot of Scandinavians while you don't find as many Scandinavians in Deleaware
interesting Nef... just got back, reading doc's comments.. i'm in CT
What is the most common ethnic group out there, ADHD?
my first grand ... ABO incompatibility... it was so scary for a week, so close to blood exchange
So do I jac and I need his hugs
So the mom was rh neg and baby was rh pos? Makes me wonder how they missed that
Nef - that, too. Blood's fascinating but complicated. My Mum's A Positive, I think my Dad was O positive (he was a gold blood donor, I remember). I asked my GP wher I got my negative from, he said 'don't ask, it's complicated', I then questioned my Mum, who got most upset at the implications and so I stopped asking.
AHD I have my RH factor on my blood card. The hospital did that when type matching my blood
i'm short Jac, but i've never "felt" small. by the time i graduated high school i was topping 200 lbs. ten yrs later i lost 80lbs, size 6-8 in winter, 4-6 in summer, very heavily muscled and still feel like a porkchop. everyone says i'm small...
u have kids herin?
I was surprised to learn that DH as an A neg and myself being A pos could actually have a child that is O (either + or_)!
Me and my ex both have A Neg blood but on our green cards the + and - thingeys differ.
Nope Adhd they had to do a ''what type of blood is in you'' so they also checked teh RH factor which is important in females apparently
that'd drive me nuts jac... but i have to know everything
ADHD - 'they' don't look at your width, since they only see you from above.
i almost woke hubs up laffing jac
I remember we had a young man waiting for a heart transplant and he had had several heart surgeries in his short life. He had very unusual blood antibodies and there were 59 antibodies in his blood that weren't compatible with the blood units we could get. He never did get his transplant. :-(
when i was in school some mean kids called me a stump. it's actually funny sounding to me now
I was always a giant in school
that is sad Nef
ADHD - I did go back to my GP and question him further. He apologised for his off the cuff comment and said he'd meant no harm - it's just that the blood heredity thing was one thing he'd never got to grips with at med school.
I know. I'll never forget him. He had such great potential....
so sad nef. i've used autologous blood for surgeries cuz i'm a bleeder (platelet function problem)
does he have the God complex? he can't be wrong about anything or let it be known that he doesn't know EVERYthing?
back soon carpet and I are both kind of needing a clean
ADHD, I hope you don't take aspirin or any of the NSAIDS (Ibuprofen -type products) then!
and then there was my hubs' childhood friend who got a transplant and drank himself to death
Now that is sad!
Herin - the giant remark sounds just like my stepdaughter. Thing is, she's not unnaturally tall around here, like she was in her home county. But she still seems to seek out tiny friends. One is so small that when she rang our doorbell one morning, I answered the door and thought no one was there for a moment, until I looked down. I'm not accustomed to speaking to people smaller than me, unless they somewhere from 2-9 years' old.
noooooo i got a stomach bleed from NSAIDS; haven't taken them in 13 years; no ASA. i've always been a bleeder hemmorhaged w/ cycle, deliveries, died in one 8 1/2hr back surgery from blood (first two transfusions)
that was scary... it was 1982 and AIDS was new and blood screening wasn't done yet
missed the giant remark
my sisters are all tall 5-2 and 3
how old is your stepdaughter jac?
Hey! ADHD has just said I'm TALL!
Aspirin and NSAIDS interfere with clotting (which is a platelet function). However you already know that, right
She was 15 in December, ADHD,
yep...
even tho i was forced to give up nursing, i don't forget a thing! i'm like an elephant (but not as big as one... anymore)
dang i'm outa sudafed
Don't like Sudofed - it makes me feel space out.
i just got a new rheumatologist and he told me Plaquenil can thin your blood!!! Now why was I never told... been on the stuff for almost four years and a slew of MDs never mentioned it. don't think they knew
I suddenly remembered that from the other night
ADHD - do you watch the series 'Nurse Jackie' on TV?
me either jac, but my sinuses are so packed
I don't know how many times I've told people to read their med inserts! Docs don't know everything
funny you should ask. i'd never heard of nurse jackie till my dtr-in-law mentioned it last week. so home sick i watched the entire first season On Demand.
hello all
My eustachian tubes are still blocked and doc's given me a sinus spray rather than a rd term of antibiotics to sort it out. I haven't thought to mention to him about having a cat in the house. Our second full-time cat now, after having a dog. I haven't had a clear nose since our now deceased first cat moved it. I think I may have a cat allergy.
Hi jilli.
i didn't want to read it nef so I could see how well or not so well the drug would/wouldn't work. but the pharmacist never said anything either. this doctor is brilliant tho.. the first visit i met an elderly guy in the waiting room who'd just finished his appt; he was praising this new MD. I asked who? the one I was to see. and the elderly guy is a retired prof of medicine from Yale and apparently well known
hi jilli. How are you tonight?
could be jac
do you like nurse jackie?
I've been reading back a bit -- just wanted to tell ADHD I'd been on plaquenil for 15 years but had to stop because it was affecting my eyes --a very rare occurrence called plaquenil toxicity.
I do, ADHD. I don't like that she's cheating on hur husband and her kids, or her lover, but I think she's good at heart.
i know all about it jilli. but i guess once you stop taking it the eye problem resolves and can take up to 2 years to do so. true?
good heart, but a danger to patients... THAT is disturbing to me
ADHD, I never noticed anything wrong but my ophthalmologist did.
we're discussing treatment now. maybe get some pain reliev
i go to the opthamologist every six months for testing
It sounds like just another soap opera based in a hospital to me
Hi nef -- I'm just fine -- feeling great, 18 lbs lighter than I was
yeah.... she should be fired.
what do you take Plaquenil for jilli?
I can't get Nurse Jackie here but love Edie Falco's acting.
Are you feeling better with that weight gone, jilli?
ADHD - re Nurse Jackie, yes, she could be a danger to patients if her drug dependency takes over. (I'm only one series 1 here in UK). I guess she's a normal fragile human being doing her best to cope re life and death and problems with one of her daughters. I still don't see why she turns to the hospital pharmacist rather than her hubby for sexual comfort. Maybe that will become apparent in 2nd series?
Could someone clue that at7 for me? I can't find it for anything tonight
I DID take plaquenil for rheumatoid arthritis and it worked beautifully. I'm now on methotrexate and that's doing fine but it's a drag having to have a blood test every 4 weeks.
jilli - I noticed someone else with the surname 'Falco' in the credits. Is it Edie's sister?
Nef, as I said, I'm feeling great with that weight gone.
hello all - Nef a magnet will at----- metal
No idea, jac
she's not turning to the pharmacist for sex comfort... i think it's sex for drugs
also, nef, BP is down to a comfortable level.
i don't know what treatment is next, but gotta do something. can't take much more pain.
I'm glad to hear that jilli. I mis-read your previous comment, thinking that the first part wasn't related to the 2nd part.
have you been on remicade jilli
Thnaks Ursh!
ADHD - actually, thinking about it, you have a point about sex for drugs, But she does orgasm with him, unless she was acting just before her trainee walked in on them?
no, ADHD -- I think I've been lucky in that I have a mild case which was nipped in the bud early by plaquenil
well, doesn't mean she won't enjoy it just cuz she's doing it for drugs.. ya think?
Maybe, ADHD.
have you been on remicade, ADHD? And do you have RA?
RA w/sjogrens.
oh yuk, ADHD!
Not a good combo, ADHD
never on remicade. last sept's scans: advanced and severe... my spinal fusions disintegrated and my spine collapsed in my neck and low back and have osteoporosis of spine. i know nef. it's destroyed my teeth, i have mouth moisture paste, nose spray, eye drops (a bottle a day).... sucks
Well, obviously she WAS acting, since she's an actress and the show is fiction. LOL But you take my point? In my experience, sex with anyone other than one you love is not worth having. Having said that, the fictional character of Nurse Jackie didn't feel so high or sleepy and comfortable did she?
everything hit me at once. and i swear it's from a bad case of lyme disease
but, having worked with addicts (in a facility), they'll do anything for drugs. Jackie's behaviour is portrayed accurately
I've been bitten by sheep tics many times in my past life on a Welsh farm. I guess I was lucky the ticks didn't carry Lyme's disease, or else I was immune to it.
she is high tho... subtle clues... things that you wouldn't know unless you've seen it for real
ADHD - I can cofidently take your word for that as a writer.
lyme disease sucks. i had the giant bullseye rash on my back and didn't see it. my hubs noticed it one nite a week after i got it (i got it from lying on my back, naked, in the woods.... get my drift); and every symptom except bell's palsy
Not many 'subtle clues' pass any writer by on TV or in print. Have to learn to button your lip during murder mysteries.
ADHD - pity the passion ended with pain.
i'm not a writer, but i notice details and have good recall (a judge told me i'd make a great attorney lol)
You probably would, ADHD.
too true jac. but others have had it much worse. i got it later in life... i met a 17 yr old so crippled... already 2 hip replacements
there's a fine line between passion and pain
ADHD, didn't you get treated for the Lymes after you knew of the rash? My son came home from Boy Scout camp 2 summers in a row with the bulls eye rash. Both times he was put on month long antibiotic treatment and he never had a problem after
You must be a hell of a pain to argue with! Remind me never to attempt it. It would be like trying to attempt total recall when your 20+ aged kids try to tell you what you said to them when they were 10 years younger.
lol... which is why I always win. my kids know not to test my memory. so funny to said that about the kids. i keep telling them that their kids will do the same to them!
My Other Half's about to be summoned to wakefulness by the alarm clock soon. I'm about tired enough to go to bed now. We've got a stepdaughter (his daughter) free week from tomorrow night.
I'm going to wander off now and try to get my pillow and my half of the duvet back whilst pinching his body heat before he gets out of bed.
Happy Babbling all.x
i got the tick bite before much was known about lyme. i went to a walkin (cuz i didn't have a GP cuz i never got sick) a blood test was done and I was started on doxycycline (Friday) they said to call back on Tues (Mon. was memorial day) When I called: "the test was neg. stop the abx" so I did. then i ended up with a heart block, meningitis, encephalitis, the worst nystagmus ever, nuchal rigidity (from the meningitis), spinal headache... everything but the bell's palsy. by that time it was disseminated lyme and i was put on IV rocephin. at the time ins. co. only approved three weeks; the ID dr. got 7 1/2 weeks for me, but it wasn't enough. NOW you stay on it till you're assymtomatic.
my immunity sucks now, which is why i catch EVERYTHING that comes my way. my hands are raw from washing.
i lecture moms on lyme prevention... white socks pulled up to the knees, white sneaks. spray the shoes and socks with deet (not skin of course on kids) and do tick checks. it takes 72 hours to get infected, then after they've done their thing (suck your blood, mix it with their poison, then regurgitate it back into you) they leave you and move on to the next victim.
so here i sit with rheumatoid, osteo and lyme arthritis. oh joy. screw the golden years my aunt used to say.
your ins co dictated your treatment? We don't have problems like that in Canada with our health care system, about which so many lies have been told.
that's totally the pits. My son got Lyme disease when he was 11 and 12, so that was 18 years ago
oh yeah... and one of my doctors who is a patient advocate told me of a meeting with ins. co. ceos who said "we don't care about your patients, we care about our stockholders" pathetic that those who decide our treatment aren't even doctors
MANY lies have been told about the Canandian health care system, jilli.
where do you live nef? i got it in 1994
I know, Nef -- it's outrageous what's going on the USA
MN. His Scout camp was in northern MN
what lies about canadian medicine?
4 to finish!!! (Hi everyone!)
That Canadians have to wait for treatment, etc.
Hi Pini!
that's not true?
(15 left)
for one, that we can't choose our doctors. Nonsense. What have you heard that's negative? It's probably a lie.
git'r dun, nef!
you can choose your doctors; if you need surgery, you have to wait even if it's important surgery, you have to wait your turn
Some DO have to wait for hip replacements and such, unfortunately, but those in greatest need get them asap, and urgent surgeries are done quicly.
that people come to the states for surgery instead of waiting
just have the T's left some from each. Gotta shut up to finish! ;-)
I've had 2 cancer surgeries and didn't have to wait at all.
GO NEF GO
Pini, You finish too!
tryin'
my friend in england said you don't get the best of doctors. she had a breast lump and had to wait for a mammogram because she wasn't due for another one yet. she paid to get the test done and it was breast cancer.
RARELY, someone wanting to hurry an elective surgery will go to the States, but it's very expensive.
GO PINI GO
Your friend in England is wrong -- our doctors and our medical school are top rate.
i just heard that what is thought to be elective there is considered necessary here
ra5/10?
if you need a hip done and you're in agony, pain doesn't make it urgent
* fish * ?
ra5/10 ra + sun-colored
take a T out of the middle of the furniture stuff
I'd say that's a fish!
thx ;)
Not so, ADHD. My bridge partner had her hip replacement moved up because of her acute pain.
thwap
now just 3 T's
* giggle *
GO Pini!
2
come on, Nef!
GO PINI & NEF GO! RAH RAH RAH *shakes pom poms* *high kick annnnnnnnd split* OOOOWWWW I'm too old for splits
ANd by the way, each province has a different way of doing things as long as health care is universal. Here in BC we pay a monthly premium of $57, and that's it.
* giggle *
that's 57 Canadian dollars.
FIREWORDS!
wow. if we had to pay the entire amt of our insurance, which includes vision and $1500 worth of dental.. it would cost us almost $2000/month US dollars
YAY pini!!!
YAY, Pini!!! WTG!!!!
WOO HOO PINI YOU DID IT YAY
* curtsy *
now I have to send one email and then I'll be right back...
10
GO NEF GO
ah -- our premium doesn't cover glasses or dental. Private insurance can be bought for those, or they can be covered by employers. So those greedy US insurance companies don't need to worry about going broke if you got universal single payer health care.

the insurance is so ridiculously expensive. i don't know what i'd do if we didn't have it. i could never afford the doctors and medicines. every specialist costs $25 a visit (my part) and if a drug doesn't come in generic..whoa
in BC we also pay something toward medications, but part of the cost is usually paid by Pharmacare, unless the meds are considered experimental.
gogogo nef!
