Good -- did they do well?
we didn't get home until 11: and there were only 3 1/2 tables, 4 boards, so figure, very slow
I don't know jilli, we'll hear in the morning
we had a good game
Hmm, lots watching Olympics, I guess
that's great!
must be
excuse me...but what else do you call a truck that spreads gr4 on the road???...
hi rolin
hey flosey...this is a silly word game sometimes
I agree, just monkey away and you come up with words you've never heard
but they're accepted
and then words you HAVE heard, like perp, are not accepted
hi rolin
hey jilli
like to4/4 - when you get around to it?
I read an article dated May 2009 that the English language was approaching one million "words", projected for a month after that point
depends on your definition of 'words' really doesnt it...lol
I think so
yeah, the compilers were including stuff like "defriend" from Facebook users - it had to have been used something like 25,000 times on social networks
well, yes -- perp being only part of a word, really, but then refs is ok, as are several others like that
'According to the Global Language Monitor, the English language this week crossed a threshold as the "one millionth word" entered the lexicon. That word? "Web 2.0." Global Language Monitor has a methodology by which it measures "new" words entering into English. Though "Web 2.0" has been around for years, GLM's method of counting requires "a minimum of 25,000 citations with the necessary breadth of geographic distribution and depth of citations." '
so, I wasn't quite right before, but I remembered the number at least
and apparently words can have spaces and numbers and decimals inside them now
So there must be some strange ones included, grem
rubbish
that was from June 2009
surely the definition of a 'word' is that it is a unit of letters to convey meaning
yes, rolin
like infiltr8 ?
good 1 flosey
lol, speeds things up I guess
Thanks for the edumacation!
I suppose that list contains all the txt wds 2
I'll bet they added "lol" as well.
tho i have to say... oneuse of the development of the text language is that there is now a comedy club in lindon called the 'roffle club'...i ,love it..
hey... I'm in the grid!
you are freep...congrats
hi fr5!!!
youre in the grid..but not the dictionary
hi fr4p
(although you don't count)
no...I'm not a word
I wonder if they have "frig" in their list
yup
oh, huh, works here too, whoops
good morning everybody
hi there ruby
ruby, did you see the figure skating dance competition tonight?
hi ruby
it will probably be on tonight here
can you shove your hubby out of the house so you can watch it, ruby?
oh, we're all excited about the Canadian pair receiving Gold
maybe out the window lol
he doesn't like skating
only likes downhill
their dance was SO beautiful
really, doesn't he have some friends he can go out with or something?
doesn't have any friends here AND doesn't go out
slip him some sleeping pills in his dinner
rohypnol lol
okey doke - it's goodnight time. A fast appearance, just to find my name :-)
g'night freep!

hi grannie

wtg diz
I think I'd better go to bed -- 50 left for tomorrow
gd night jill
that's what I should do jilli - I only have 62 words so far - and a busy day tomorrow
playing the Scrabble Fundraiser
ah, but will you, flosey?
Thatshouls be fun!
yes, I really must
will see if I can get up to 75 first
You should be a real whiz after all this practice!
I haven't played scrabble in over 25 years
they probably wont accept half of the words we see here
well, you now know so many weird words
guess we have to play by someone's rules, I didn't play last year
Oh they probably have a Scrabble dictionary full of them.
hhi jilli and flosey!
Hi Bianca
are you both canadian?
hi bianca!
yes, we are Bianca
yes -- what are you?
if so congratulations on your winners tonight
I think the scrabble dictionaries are very different. Even the American one and the UK ones differ
live on the same small island
american
hi bianca
thank you Bianca, it was very exciting
thank you very much, Bianca -- we're thrilled to bits :)
the skaters were beautiful
and where do you come from, bianca?
I've always loved the dance competition
the u.s.
which state
california
well, your guys were superb too, and it's so great that they're all good friends, which shone forth from the podium and backstage
yeah it's really nice to see that
the poor russians though. They got no hugs
I thought the Russians were a mess and the bronze should have gone to the other US team
but they have bad attitudes, I think
really?
I was surprised the russians got the bronze also
and they snipe at winners....Plushenko and the quads!
see you later, sports fans!! lol
bye ruby
bye for now ruby
well, I guess their costumes put me off, but their skating was uninspired too, I thought, and not so brilliant technically either, according to the commentators
me too jilli, they were ugly
bye ruby -- bear up, old girl!
I don't care to see frills and flimsy stuff on the men
the costumes weren't good. It made them seem naive.
it was the long greasy hair too, and the glum expression
I thought they looked disappointed
they probably thought they were entitled to the gold
I guess I liked that they got the bronze just for nostalgia's sake.
Since they've always won a metal since it started.
yikes cold war nostalgia
yikes, 16 pe words!
haven't got that far yet jilli
well, be warned!
Well, thanks for the kind words, bianca, and now I'm off to beddybye -- g'night all!
night Jilli, sleep well
gnie jills
and *poof*
ok, 75 down, 92 to go, be back in the morning, goodnight all
Hi all. Anybody here?

Doesn't work Bianca
*everyone tries cleer*
i know. i should be in bed any way
However, just tried nice Chaucerian word which was accepted.
I like avaunt
sorry. bit random. lol
shame griotte isn't allowed
Hadn't seen that one. Yes, strange since there are so many furrin words usually.
exactly
And I always try gire, because I think I have Lewis Carroll in mind (the correct spelling doesn't work, either!)
I also do too
no clues, nuh?
huh?
im ean no lickety clues
nope
i can usually get only about almost a third with no clues
nothing to be ashamed of, that!
pitter. pitter patter.
How long have you been Babbling for, Bianca? Don't remember your name in the chat before.
thanks atal
kind of new
Is that tiny feet hurshy, or are you in the wrong box? :-)
but not that new
we all agree smurshy
just might not have talked in chat too much
i'm not in the wrong box, the box is wrong.
it's the pictures that got small
Ah, see what you mean.
I like the fact that the cr7s we have in our profile pics are allowed though
and that author who writes about them, james... but without the double r
the mead hall!
Goes on cr7 hunt. Oh! TY Ata
are you saying he6 is in fact a mead hall?
tis inBeowulf
aha
hello sally??
hi ata
as you should well know! If you don't, you need to read it ;)
hi ruby
Hi ruby. Why the question marks? Am I not really here? :-)
i read it in school... wasn't a big fan...
gnite all
I only read part of beowulf and that was almost 50 yrs ago!! old is me!
Night Bianca. See you again.
no, I was just happy to see you and was afraid I was too late
Perhaps I should read it again (Beowulf). Like it says on the T-shirt - So many books, so little time.
it's an amazing book. read Seamus Heaney's translation, it's beautiful
Well, hi again ruby! Have not been on much for last few days because have had a house guest so Babble had to take a back seat :-(
I didn't know there was a translation; that's more like it
Fairly sure it's not on my book shelf. Will check.
lots of translations, Heaney's is the newest, and most poetic
as a kid, I found the middle English (?) too difficult
old English. oh yes, the original is unreadable unless you know Old English
old, sorry, didn't remembver which
We did Chaucer in the original for (I think) A Level, and now I can't bear it in modern English!
lol, sally
middle English is Chaucer etc
Yes I know Ata, sorry didn't mean to confuse.
I feel like I'm 100 yrs old, university was such a long time ago
sorry, that got a bit lagged, was meant to be after saying Beowulf was OE!
Now why on earth is "gritter" not allowed? They have been all around us in this snowy weather.
and why not iter?
However, it led me to a gr 8 :-)
ty sally
Actually, two ruby
yes, lol
is erotic a good phantom word?
as good as orgies
and put them together......
One follows the other presumably.
Getting coffeee. brb
Back. Pours coffee for all. I see you've been talking about me while I was gone!
milk, no sugar, please!
can I have tea instead?
Sure, Ata. What kind would you prefer?
whatever :D i'm just horribly allergic to coffee!
A tragedy. Mind you, I do try to restrict mine since I started to get palpitations from drinking so much. Went cold turkey and had withdrawal symptoms :-(. Now I just have a pot of good coffee in the morning and then no more.
I have one double expresso (thank you, George) in the AM, but that's all. That allergy would be a tragedy for me!
horrid stuff :D
it kick-starts my day. See you after lunch (out, TG)!
Bye for now ruby. Have a good lunch.
I just think thank goodness for tea :)
I loooovvve a good strong cappuccino, life isn't the same without it. Hello all
Hi lynxxx
hi lyn! hi stew!
You sound back to normal Ata, Hobbit will be happy
getting there. I'm continuing to realise how long this is going to take to get over 100%!
Hobbit won't know what hit her this afternoon, she's getting a big trim
Already? Are you sure that there is some hot weather coming?
noooooo but she looks like a BEAR!
Who's doing the trimming!!!??? and hello Ata and lynxxx
the groomers at the vet!
well thank goodness for that :)
Poor Hobbit, just make aure she has a coat to put on
Hi FM
Good morning all......how confusing was that!!
And hello fm!
167 words yesterday and today.....and still yesterdys clues???
Morning Sally and Flask
hi Flask
Someone said there aren't any clues yet Flask
Oh well.....should be interesting!
Gremlin has put a list in his profile.
phantom heretic
thanks FM.....but I do like to see how far I can go listless first!
hi Josh
Is it a good grid today?
and anyway I still can't access anyone's profiles!
it's not so bad so far
FM, do you know what Haz's fav flowers are?
hi lynxxx
Oh crumbs now you're asking *ponders*
LOL I was pondering too
rite
oh no...sorry!
I can't think butI I do I will let you know.
Flask, you can access profiles through the Rankings page.
(Debating whether to show my face or to pretend that I'm not here)
looooool
lol
what's teh answer then?
Morning Haz
Good morning Haz!
Good morning/evening all!
It's a toss up between roses and white freesia.
You could have pretended you hadn't read the chog and just happened to come on and say how you had seen a wonderful bunch of xxx!
Ata wasn't being very sublte was she?
oooo freesias!
I love freesias too
I know, I'd make a rubbish spy, wouldn't I? Anniebrook is so much more discreet.
not very good at subtlety ...
I love freesias, everything about them except that they don't last long enough.
my mum's fav flower too. except she's not picky about colour!
I think I love the white because they just look so pure and perfect. And the smell of any freesia is just lovely.
Whenever my Father bought my Mother flowers he would buy me freesias.
the smell is glorious
awwwwww
What a nice father!
Do they grow in gardens there?
Not in any gardens this far north, I don't think.
Oh I say a chinook helicopter has just flown over ever so low!
which is sad
oooo! love chinooks
That'll be Anniebrook on one of her less subtle days.
LOL
They are quite common here, once you have them they are there forever and they seem to naturalise and go back to creamy white
lucky you!
How lovely lynxxx
(not chinooks)
LOL, had looked away from the chog and thought you were talking about Chinooks, lynxxx!
Oh Sally I did too for a second
We don't have Chinooks - only Elvis's and I am happy to say that this Summer we haven't even needed those!
*imagines flock of naturalising chinooks flying around*
Sorry - Elvises!
or maybe that should be Elvii?
Elvises? (Visions of Elvis Presleys tearing around the sky)
yep!
You've restored my faith in you, lynxx, your adoption was beginning to look shaky.
I know - I am sooo embarassed
But that's good. If you'd been shamefaced about it, or worse, not known what you'd done - disaster.
The Elvis are v. large helicopter which are able to take up vast volumes of water and drop on bushfires
finally watching the travelling weddings prog. how do they move in those dresses!
The answer is before your eyes, Ata. They don't so much walk as shuffle painfully.
27 stone dressses!
Someday they'll incorporate a scooter underneath the dress. Or a motorised skateboard.
travelling weddings?
now there's a niche market needing to be filled
or one of those mobility scooters perhaps
Weddings of Irish travellers, except that they're static (the travellers)
OK
with 27 stone dresses
They like to have over the top wedding dresses. Not just extravagent, but extraordinary and not in a good way.
do they cut the dresses up to make all of the curtains / duvet covers / tea towels / everything for their house?
and 20' trains (on the dresses) not the railway kind.
That's a good point, Ata, I've no idea what they do once they get rid of the dress.
20 foot trains, not 20 trains, although you might give them ideas. 'Patty had 1 20 foot train, begorrah, I've have 20 on mine!'
If they had a little train track laid from the door of the church to the altar, and put the bride on a little train, would that help?
that's a scary thought
like in Wallace adn gromit!
Exactly!
It was an interesting programme I must say.
Perhaps they should employ train drivers as bridesmaids.
LOL Sally
Ata, you need to find pictorial evidence of said dresses so that lynxxx knows what we're talking about. Imagination is not enough, you couldn't come up with those designs.
Oh yes, the bridesmaids are another integral part of the wedding experience.
They don't wear as big dresses as the bride, but they go for dayglo colours.
!!!just ready up on the marriages - apparantly 200,000 pounds is a not uncommon price paid for a groom!. Travelling is a profitable occupation it seems
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/my- big-fat-gypsy-wedding/pictures
http://tinyurl.com/6q8h8s
the link I posted isn't form the programme but is still on the theme.
Now that's confusing. They are referring to Irish Travellers but these are within the USA
And more http://tinyurl.com/munex8
Irish travellers do come originally from Ireland but have in many cases settled in England. However, they prefer to keep tightly knit within their own culture.
Morning all! I wonder if there's a list somewhere. Lickety's is yesterdays
Now I can see where Jordan gets it from - after seeing FMs clip
We have some who have been living here for over 30 years, but they retain a southern Irish accent.
Gremlin posted a list in his profile Jayk
thanks!
Now that's a Mother Of The Bride outfit !
Amazing, the outfits, aren't they?
BRB door bell
the blue / green ones are the most spectacular
Yes, the harlequin ones on the programme?
yes ...
Actually Ata, your ones were the most tasteful of them all
oh dear LOL
Did you look at Haz's Ata?
oh yes! lovely peach!
they do make jordan look somewhat restrained
When do you think we'll get Jordan's renewal of vows?
when she gets another child
I mean, a wedding's not a wedding without renewing the vows five minutes later. Not that they mean a word of it either time.
but they need a new baby to complete the photos
They'd get more money if they renewed vows, had the baby, had a christening, renewed vows one last time before the divorce.
Back again
good point
Not that Jordan is interested in money.
not at all
Never has been. Like Heather Mills.
*snort*
PHone...
hi everyone
hi andree
had a day off today and enjoyed a movie fest
I maynot get courriers coming anymore but the doorbell was the handyman from the lettings agent, he is coming back tomorrow a.m to do some odd jobs.
Hello, Andree.
Hi Andree, what did you see?
saw "shutter island" and "valentines day"
and your verdict on them is?
I was just reading a train of comments on the wedding pictures, some of who are the Irish Travellers - are they semi illiterate or just putting it on - and who are gorgie?
Hi Andree
valentines day was a light chick flick
lynxxx, I can only speak for the travellers here, the older generation are not literate at all, the younger generation do go to school but have difficulties because they don't have an older generation to help them with their reading etc. It probably stems from the times when they did move around and schooling was interrupted.
shutter island was a really excellent powerful film
quite a contrast between the films then Andree
very much so
valentines day was the sort that was fun but if you miss it at the movies you would still enjoy the dvd sometime
lol love that - this one girl has a fitted wedding dress - oh, such normality - but then a 20 foot train
Co-incidence, daughter just walked in the door from movies and had seen Shutter Island. Liked it except for Leonardo, thought someone else would have been better
how strange, i thought he was fantastic and i'm not a fan
the skating tonight is really beautiful
Just watching it - isn't this couple beautiful! The French were too
divine
aaawww
We have the highlights on this afternoon.
Watch out for the young couple from Canada - Virtue & Moir
they were the canadians, now leading
omg. train from hell. it looks like it's - crinkly stuff?
OMG and blue and white loo roll dolls!
They must be a couple surely
LOL Ata!
Is that the detachable one? I think it's frills. And if it's Joan, she looked SO much better before they started dolling her up.
yes, Joan. Am just horrified at the bridesmaids
think we used to say that about torville and dean lynxxx, i thought they were a couple
torvill and dean were fora bit, weren't they?
Only for about 10 minutes when they were very young.
ooo didnt know that
They're both happily married to others but they still skate and work together.
wish I could find a pic of these bmaid dresses for lynx
Good morning from a snowy Wales
They're within the pictures on the channel 4 website, I think, Ata.
cait!
Hello, caitlyn. Bad now!
Hello cait!!!! How nice to see you, more snow? :((
they don't look scary enough there ...
Right, must take a quick break to make a phone call. Back later.
bad now? bad then?
hi cait, bye haz
Hi Caitlyn!
I went down my mums but luckily I left early, we are so much higher here, its quite heavy and sticking now :(
N.I is due to get some tomorrow too if I remember from this morning forecast.
Bye Haz was it something I said LOL
Oh dear, and hi cait. On its way to us then :-(
I demand that spring comes soon !!
Oh I will join you in that thought cait.
Somewhere under the snow we have some wild welsh daffodils waiting to spring into life!
We will start a club then FM (and if it doesnt come soon we know who to blame)
my bulbs are up to about 4" now. Oh come on surely I can't be blamed for the seasons?? *grin*
course you can!
Ata have you finished the maps on TM I only have the gold ones left
*sigh* OK OK
noooo I have the fruity ones and the gold ones to go. finishing my last aztec one
Phone brb
If you finish all of the gold ones you can redo some of the others again and find different things, but there are so many gold maps!
ooo! didn't know that
I read it in the forum
I don't like the new wooden maze thing
No I agree its so slow
and boring
TM? Treasure Maps on FB?
yep!
Yes Sally Like I needed another addiction!!
I tend to avoid all these things in FB. Is it good?
yes LOL
74 left here, is there a list?
Yes I enjoy it, its the only thing I do on FB
Apparently on Gremlinn Andree
thx lynxxx
Found and bookmarked. Will look later. Too cold to be in the garden and I don't feel like doing enything energetic today :-)
it's a lot of fun!
Whoops. *anything
Join a team and you can ask for treasures that are missing from your collections
Ata is a great gifter
between me and cait, we can probably load you down!
I'll have a secret practice first!
I must go and put chicken in the oven and get some lunch, back soon
Hot lunch sounds nice :-)
it does!
Think I'll just go and light wood burner. Husband now downstairs. Back in a bit.
How many words today?
167
hi Mudd
hi mudd
clues say they are for today but don't fit
ty
Lickety hasn't done todays. See Gremlinns profile
And of all days! I am babysitting a sick grandson and I'll never finish without a list.
no clues today
I don't suppose anyone has one in their profile either.
gremlinn has
She's not online. How do I find her profile?
now the skating is over i will go to bed, interesting lynxxx the change of compare
Search on the Rankings Page - see above. And she is a he
morning all
oops... good afternoon already. Welladay, anyway
Hi Sp**** !!
lol am I in today? Thanks lyn, and *hug*
Welladay - I like it
medival, I believe, lyn
now I have the feeling I misspelled that... medeival? medieval?
yes, medieval
morning :-)
hi Une!
and thanks, will remember now.
:-D
hi Une
hey, lynxxx :-)
finding as many words as possible before making a soup kitchen run to Whole Foods for bread and produce! :-)
wow that's two for one
some of the things they have for me are crazy -- last week they 15 Mardi Gras king cakes left over!
Back from lighting fire, and Hi Sp****!
and the week before that, they had 40 jumbo strawberries dipped in chocolate :-)
hi Sally
hey, sally!
at least it is good stuff
*they had
oh yes, sprite!
Mmmm, strawberries in chocolate. And Hi une and anyone else.
Sorry, I must get to bed. My back is twinging after a day bending over in the garden. Bye all. xxx
but I've been working on developing a relationship with one of the produce guys and I'm anxious to see if he has some good stuff for me today
sleep well, lyn, and may your back be painfree when you awake
take care, lynxxx :-)
lurking, but just wanted to let you know I am babbling without my glasses on, and for a second there, thought sprite wanted Une's back to be "pantiefree" and I was all WHAT?
grid's full of french words today . . . agir, agite, agiter,
lol Trif, hi, and a crazy mind is a joy forever
yesterday's grid was too. And none of them valid
rire :)
bonjour
going sans glasses is a dangerous thing! LOL
hey, jbv!
yes, but all hebrew and islamic words are fine....the hell?
enable is partial. In all ways.
indeed
lieu is valid, and one I always miss
(not in today's grid, before I send someone on a nene chase)
:-D
am a little miffed I cannot be more of myself today.
what?
I am valid, but more of me isn't
sprite?
oh, i get it :)
ooohhhhh LOL
lollll yes
almost landed in the PB for that
and hi JBV :)
oh, wait, I AM in the PB - forget about me, i'm still waking up
there's jumbo strawberries dipped in chocolate in the PB. And Mardi Gras cakes.
never the PB for Babble names!
:-D
need a coffee break - see you later and good luck with the grid
ok, 100 down, 67 to go . . . must get goin' -- BBL -- happy babbling! *poof*
ah well, I lost 9 pounds, so I think it is fair
bye again JBV and Une!
cr 8 clue please
don't have it yet
You might decide something according to specific cr 8/45
got it ... standards
ty
good one Sally, thanks
Wayhay! Finished the G's!
and Mudd
wtg Sally
good clue Mudd
nice grid so far
The grid is the size I like. When they are too big I just don't have time even if they are very easy. Too small and they are either evil or too quick!
I like them all, but some are tastier than others :)
sounds like goldilocks
:D hi kje!
hi sprite... how is europe?
overcast but ok, as usual
insane as ever here
that is mundial, I believe. We are sans a government atm.
trying to decide whether that is good or bad - LOL
could go either way!
I haven't noticed any difference
LOL
wellllll I can live with almost everything. But please save me, us and the world for Geert Wilders as president.
from?
from, indeed
not for, but from
LOL - was gonna say....
stupid dutchism
that is how I feel when certain people hit the news... I get despoindant that americans really are so gullible and unknowledgeable... but then again, for the most part, stuff works out
despondant
for whom does it work out?
I guess they are the same as the dutch. Malcontent, eager for some kind of scape goat and happy when somebody gives it to them. Especially when it is somebody who 'has the guts' to say fascistical and racistical things.
hey lawyer, hi.
for the most part, the checks and balances work... i
hi, sprite
yes... that is disturbing isn't it, sprite? why do we always come back to that?
kje, it depends on the payees of the checks
maybe because most people are unwilling to accept change and difficulties and take responsibility for those themselves?
g'morning, is there a list somewhere?
hello kim, I don't know, sorry
my stomach is growling
I should probably attend to that
how lazy must one be to not even get up and get food? LOL
*hands kje some chocolate-dipped strawberries to tie her over
kim, there is a list in Gremlin's profile - available through the rankings page
tide over, sprite
only corrected it cuz I know you want to learn
to tide her over. Mannn am I hopeless today.
yes I do, and I thank you
you are NOT hopeless! your english is amazing!
i think "tie over" creates a better mental image
LOL lawyer
lol not today! But thanks to you all I am learning.
kinda kinky, no?
lol lawyer
leads to another kind of hunger
kinky? moi?
oh my, sprite
I think I need to go get food before you all corrupt my pure mind ; )
Guten Morgen, babbpers. NO lickety ? Has anyone posted a list?
hehehe where is pam when I need her...
hi inge
I miss Pam!!!
ok, bbiam
so do I!
wie gehts, inge?
they say gremlinn has one in his profile, inge
me too, I miss pam
hi sue, she is a cool babbler isn't she
I saw a pic of her in Las Vagas with my cousin Benjy
oh great! So you know her IRL?
Any clue for ir4?
Kenny, I think it is an Ir6 you are looking for
Thanks
yvw, let me know if you need more of a clue
I need help to find grmelins profile, since my eyesoght makes it impossible to deciper the names
hold on, inge, I will give you a link
Kenny, are you trying to use Lickety? I understand they are yesterday's clues.
http://www.playbabble.com/profile_mini .php?id=51181
ingle - have just copied them into my profile for you :)
hi FM
Hey spritey sprite hope yr day is going well.
well enough, FM, how about yours?
Its raining but seeing as its not snow can't complain. Am not really here but wanted to just pop in and help inge out.
*hugs FM*
ok fireflies for me, anything I can help with before I go?
yayayay sprite!
OH congrats spritey
back... with my breakfast beside me
and I am off again.
good job kje
You are so quick sprite!
And bye FM
bye FM, have a good day nonetheless!
What's for breakfast kje?
yes, oi think breakfast may make me less despondant - LOL
lots of practice, Sally. Some uglies today, but I left them to last, which told me their length. Monkeys were great too.
breakfast is two eggs scrambled with an ounce of low fat cream cheese mixed in, capers, chives, and smoked salmon
yummy, am coming over NOW.
Wow kje!
yes... I am on day 7 of a diet... lost 4 pounds so far - woohoo!
That's a diet?
wow kje! Good going! I am doing Lent, told myself I am not to snack at all for 40 days. So far so good and lost 9 pounds so far.
sure... is actually very good for you... heart healthy fats, protein, veggies (side of sliced tomaro)
I snack, but right now it is celery and laughing cow
sounds good. Balanced diets are so much more effective in the long run than strict ones.
lollll @ laughing cow, we call it the same in dutch, even though it is in French on the packages.
de lachende koe
laughing cow... my concession to dieting - I hate low fat cheese!!!
the low fat version of the cow is actually pretty tasty.
La Vache qui Rit :-) First had that in France and felt very French! I know better now.
cheese is the food of gods! and low fat cheese is a sacrilege
lol Sally, I know the feeling.
LOL sally
It was xxx years ago when I was young (!) and now of course it is available here in the supermarkets.
well if nobody is in need of my questionable talent for clueing, I am gonna be off. *hugs* to you and thanks for the excellent company and clues.
it is tasty, sprite... I refuse to eat tasteless food... just makes you want to binge
bye sprite... always a pleasure!
so true! Better to eat balanced and good food. Believe me, I have tried everything else, lol.
I love good strong mature cheese.
Uh, oh. It's snowing.
me too sally!!! we have a wonderful cheese shop here which reminds me very much of paris... nothing but cheese, you open the door and the odors overwhelm you... but unlike the french, they let you sample lots! of course, that may be b/c they have figured out I buy almost everything they give me
hey!!! our dutch babbler is in the grid! how could it take me so long to see that
lol kje. We also have a good cheese shop here in Ludlow, which is a real foodie town. Also some nice delis
Visitor, back in a mo
Good Morning babblers.
hey red!
after living in MD, i always try terps
Nah that was yesterdays grid kje.
i also always try retic... damn
yes, one i had to embarrassingly ask for a clue for
me too...
and crit
how many wds. today?
167
same as yesterday?
167
I thought yesterday had a bit more.
think i'm getting too dependent on lickety
do what I do, wait to go to lickety util you have 40 left or so...
my day usually doesn't have room for 150+ grids
ok, must get going... teaching at 9... poof
well, I guess this oen isn't for you then.
Bye KJE!
esp. without the lickety crutch
this grid actually seems to be all about the superlative endings.
Yes, red, I have 5 of the 8's so far, and four of them have that ending.
hints for the i in the corner or the E in the left column?
E is et 4/5, ending in nervous twitch.
TY
I have 3 8's but only 70 words so far...
I is ir 6/21, ending in same way.
TY again. thats NBT and NBS for me!
morning all, I am in the grid too :)
good going eva.
and hi Peri, thanks
I was in grid yesterday...or at least part of me...
Hi pe**, so is our Dutch babbler!
I loved finding that bit of you in yesterday's grid, red. Very satisfying one.
I was not a fan of yesterdays grid, for some reason I was unable to gt it and the words were not difficult. I used the list and finally finished.
but todays seems better I am already almost half way!
and half way!!!!
go red!!
good morning everyone:)
Hi Mr Hair!
Hi crossy
hey crossy
bbs
friendly grid today,or is it an evil time sucking black hole from which there is no escape? lol
Quite user friendly
those t,s are very handy:)
All done, and off for today. Happy Babbling all.
got to love the soundtracks and music spots in these old heat of the night episodes;))
lol, funny when you think about it,have to go back to a series 20 years old to find something worth watching even if you do have 250 channels:/
Morning Friends!
hello everybody
five minutes to spend.....
Hi Ruby!
hello car
this is a funny grid, 91 words so far, but with a lot of help fromt he chog
I guess it will be one of those with a lot of strange words!
lots of nice p words
Anyone else watching Dinosaur Train? I love this show! They have a crylophosaurus on right now singing like Elvis!
been reading all afternoon and can hardly see the screen. had better come back later
that sounds so cute but they don't run it in France!
Give your eyes a rest ruby!
bye
It is a GREAT show! Very entertaining and informative!
I object! The game refuses to accept 'pitter', even tho the word is listed by dictionary.com
No kidding! I'm with you!
Hello Babble buddies
Hi Scrabs! {{hug}}
May I please have a clue for the upper corner i?
The pitter-patter of bunnies hopping...
I just found it--adjective for inflammation of colored part of eye
ir--aching joints as in arth*****
Anybody want coffee? I have a fresh pot.
Hi Annie.
so that's what it means, hello everyone
TY! Again...I missed an eye word...I type ophthalmology reports for a living....just sad....
I just had two cups, my max for the day but thank you, scrabbs
Hi annie!
Hahaha, Car! Funny!
hi car.
I'm on my third....! Whee!
My hair frizzes after 2 cups
I just found pa** and I have a gyn appt at 1 pm for a pa* test
My hair is always frizzy....!
Oh no! Just scooch down a little...
Hi all. I have to go running, but I am procrastinating.
I have 2 glassfuls every morning--probably 3 actual cups total as I add a lot of milk.
Exercise your brain here with us!
Yes, Car! "Just a little more...relax now...."
Hi red
I wish it were the same car!!
I am sure it is Red! LOL!
Just a little pressure, Scrabs!
YOWSER, Car! I request the Barbie equipment because I have lived the life of a nun and am postmenopausal...perhaps TMI there
I have so many phantom words today! Peptic, brief, better, spar.
Yes...we probably should steer the conversation elsewhere!
But now I am getting anxious Car because you know the exact words that I will hear later
It will be fine! You will start thinking of this chog and just start giggling!
pretie is not in dictionary. what is this dictionary anyway????????????so frustrating.
I love my doc.
What is that word, mkg?
other phantoms: heretic, hectic
I see those now too, Car.
there are scarves that are pre tied and you just slip them on. they are pretied scarves. maybe it must be with the d. but i assumed that as a very you could pretie something.
Oh, I see now, mkg.
Take away the P for a word
phantom: period
so, why won't it accept pitter?
almost half way. darn. cant get to half way.
Alas, so many phantoms to mess with our eyes today.
Just to annoy you Lawyer! Tee hee!
isnt pitter a hyphenated word as in pitter-patter
C'mon MKG...Get 'er done!
i tried pitter too, maybe because there is no patter
i am surrounded with professionals to annoy me without having to deal with babble amateurs
lickety is messed up.........has aero as a word and not in grid.
That is from yesterday.
someone who pits cherries?
mkg, there is no list today
same word count!
It is yesterday's Lickety's list and yesterday's grid also had 167 words.
pitter is a machine for removing pits. check the dictionary
You are right, SS.
but it says 2.23
oh well.
Lawyer, one of my sister's is a lawyer so I hear stories.
Yes Lawyer! You are correct! Kadresa uses one when she makes cherry pies!
it's a conspiracy
would love clues for the 8s so i can get half way. i have fr and pr 8s. what are others?
mkg, Australia is 16 hrs ahead of Chicago time, so Lickety has a different date.

How can pitter not be a word ... pitter patter of tiny feet? can someone 'splain to me?
I agree jmb!
arggg am missing one 7
isn't a machine that depits cherries, a pitter?
thought so too bichon
hi, all
br 7 peanut br******
hi mongie
I am still giving this game a chance. Though, I don't fully understand the babble clues. Just getting a handle on the scoring. I also don't understand why "pitter" is not accepted! lol
'hi, rubyfoo
I have a friend here whose real name is mongi!
So why isn't petri allowed. I thought that was the dish they grow bacteria in.
lol, rubyfoo! It is the name my grandson called me when he was little. I thought it was so cute. So, I like to use it in cyberspace. :)
I try it about once an hour
I dont understand why pitter isnt acceptted what about pitter patter. The words that it will accept or not make no sense to me Mongie
wht ... me, too. Tried it, but wouldn't take.
dinner now, see you later
'maybe you have to have BOTH pitter and patter! lol
'bye, rubyfoo
bye ruby
Isn't pitter-patter hyphenated? and I think that's a petrie dish.
At last the voice of reason!!
But basically, if it isn't in Enable, it isn't a word as far as Dr. God is concerned. And the compiler(s) of Enable have,, shall we say, a few quirks.
helens ... I think you are right. Thx.
Anyway dont talk to me about pitter patter it has pitter pattered outside my window for WEEKS!! Fed up with grey cloud and rain
Petrie doesn't work either
would you rather have snow Dee?
It cracks me up to see all those obscure Hebrew and Jewish terms.
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! methinks i may have found a photographer for the wedding! *happy dance*
Maybe he thinks it's Petrie
I have no clue as to what is required for a name, like Tesla, to turn into tesla for Dr. Gdd's chosen dictionarist.
Eva when is the wedding?
Wonderful Eva - get a binding contract at once!
No not snow!! But I always think if ever I was to top myself it would be in February. Roll on Spring!!
wedding is in october, SeaSpray.
what date?
The clues page shows 167 words, but the clues are from yesterday?
daughter is getting married on the 2nd
Yes, Bichon, and he has such odd notions of how to transliterate Yiddish.
23rd here.
What about all the archaic Scots words I dont suppose even a Scotsman would use them nowadays!!
everything else lined up?
for instance, Deeha???
I'll stand up for the Scots words, we use lots regularly. Thole and Thrawn and Gulpins and Hallions.
nice one, Haz!!
Thanks to Dr. God, I got a clue in a mystery (requiring knowledge of "feu") way earlier than I could have done before babbling. So ther - it is useful!
definitely wanna get a contract signed soon. this is an acquaintance who i have actually worked with before, but i forgot she does the occasional wedding. turns out, shes trying to build up her portfolio + will be a FULL day for a mere $600! she doesnt do the prints, but gives you a release to print as many of whatever you want -- and she will retouch any + all of the digital images for you too!
Dont be so rude Haz!!!
And, the Scots words are always in crossword puzzles, handy to know
Gulpins?
And scunner. You can be a really fed up Scots when your're scunnered.
Gulpins and hallions are stupid/idiotic oafish men.
The Clues Page is not working?
And targes are cross women.
lovely word, that!
As when trying to get Dr. God to take patrie, Haz?
gremlinn has a list up bishon, in her profile.
Hello everybody. MovieMan, if your still here - belated happy birthday. Hope you had a good day.
wow that's a bargain, everyone has quoted my daughter $1800
I don't get all that het up over the words that are and aren't accepted, it's just an artibrary thing.
Sorry - misspelled Petrie
how do I find Gremlin's profile?
Must stop - fingers and brain obviously no longer well connected.
Look gremlinn up in Rankings
SeaSpray, from what ive found, even THAT is a bargain. i was floored when she said that, and even asked her if she accidentally left off a zero! turns out, she is only doing weddings for friends + people she knows...lucky me. :)
Go to rankings, do control F and type gremlinn (who is male, by the way), it will highlight his name, click on it and you get the profile.
ty Soodle, yes I'm still here
Eva, am glad you are getting a break! We are meeting with one who said she will work with her (whatever that might mean lol)
found Gremlin, thanks
Yay MM. Did you see all your birthday icons?
im glad too!
Yes Soodle, very cool
ok, must go, am feeling lousy today, may bbl, have fun all
Bye SeaSpray
my parents have a set amount of money to put toward the wedding, and most (if not all) of that will be put toward the caterer. fiance's family paid the venue rental fee, so not sure if they will put in any more. everything else is all on us! i want it nice, but not at the expense of being in debt + wedding-poor!
how many re7's are ther?
There are 3, Flask.
I have the name and the talker whats missing?
re7/32 - re , a consonant, plus the end part of what hangs down in frozen fashion from a roof or eaves of a house.
It's the same structure as the name one, only one letter different towards the end.
thx Haz & hi today!
ok...I have br7...cr7...he7...pe7...rex3...ro7...s px2...what am I still missing??
You're welcome, bojazz, hello to you!
got that one now Haz,, thanx!
I just need 2 more...
i know you found the "countryman" reference for England???
ti7 and one other which I haven't found yet.
ir 6/21??? any clues
clue for the pe7?
ir6 - relating to the flower like part of the eye. It ends in a nervous twitch.
pe7 - comparatively inclined to dwell on the small things in life.
Thanks Haz!
hmm, got that one, i need the one after the little bluish flower.
hi tammy - how's the weather up there?
Do you mean pe8?
Nice! Actually down here.. South Carolina!
right before the pe8.
Oh I forgot your in sumter..
pe7.36
no, i'm down here - in Sumter - you're up there "from me"
I'm not done yet, somebody else had better clue that one, lb.
Right. Pardon my memory lapse
thanks, haz.
'so OK - maybe i need a new icon - like a Gamecock?
for Gamecock City, that is
The "Real" USC
absolutely!
Haz can u clue the ti for me please?
I grew up in Columbia
pe7/36 - follow the flower with a suitable word (three letters)
Now I live 15 miles from Clemson so I am part tiger part gamecock
Flask, if you have the ti6 (same structure as Mr Brosnan, the actor) put a consonant on the end.
mothing wrong with that - my grandaughter plans to be a Tiger
oi!, thanks Haz! fireboards
Well done!
It's a really great school.. Beautiful campus Fun times!
congrats ibd
may i return the favour?
the campus is great
thanx Haz!
No, you're fine, I'll carry on, thanks, lb.
ty ty. those 7's had me seeing stars
You're welcome, flask.
JMC - are you lurking?
she would be the first in our family to attend Clemson - she told her uncle (a USC grad) maybe that would add some class to the family & she's only 11
Not too much nightlife in Clemson so that helps with studies! My son went to coastal carolina. Too many things get in the way in myrtle beach
Back in a couple of minutes.
any clues before I head off to try and be constructive?
Cute!
lbd....pe7 please?
have a good day lb
Hey All. how is everyone?
hi red
Hi red pretty good how are you?
Well.. better scoot off to do a few things. enjoy bojazz
which one, flask? the first one is the Babbler, pe**winkle + abbrev for where one might dwell
hi red
thanx lbd!!
yw. that's the one i had trouble with too.
hope to be back later. good luck with the puzzle.
bye lbd and hi
pe/7 more intimate
good morning everyone
hello Flosey
hi flosey - congrats to the Canadian ice dancers - awesome
I missed it but I was pleased to hear they won.
ty bojazz, we were all so very excited
ty red
sorry i missed it - hear the performance was over the top!
Canada is doing well in the Olympics. I know they say they are failing the "Own the podium" but, I think they have really done excellently.
i'm cheering for Canada - 'cept when they are against the US
don't know who made that quote red, everyone I know is so very, very proud of our athletes - first time on home soil for gold
totally acceptable bojazz - that's loyalty
adds excitement when the "home team" does well
sure does bo
I think there has been a push for the Canadians withthe "Own the Podium" campaign, and somehow they expected more medals, but frankly, I see so many doing so well.
as I said red, I have no idea who is being so possessive - that is just plain greed, and takes away from the ones who are winning
I agree.
SOmetimes I think people just need something to say.
except for some of the Russians, most seem to be team spirited for the games - they are quite the athletes
ANy clue for the I in the right hand upper corner...?
relating to the ir in the eye, red - ir6
thanks DC.
in the past, there have been some competitions that have not been judged with total honesty, I think that has been corrected and all are being won fair and square
ir6/21 - ir + theatre cr***
too slow :(
it's a crime when politics get involved in the judging
For me, it has been an enjoyable olympics.
think NBC could be much better in their job
NPR did a story on nbc saying that it has failed to keep up with the way we consume media...
good to hear red, thanks, I haven't been over but daughter has been doing a lot of mingling with the crowds and says it is like Mardi Gras and a wonderful time
I did enjoy the story on the snowboarder who crashed...how sad that was.
tragic - i'm sure we haven't heard the end of that
that was the luge, wasn't it red, a trial run before the games opened
No no Kevin Pearce, he crashed prior to Olympics and has had a terrible Brain injury.
the Luge situation was also not good.
oh, sorry, yes, you're right
I was really saddened to hear it, but I think he knew the risks of the half pipe..
was not aware of that incident
right red, there are some sports I just don't watch
what those young people do in the half pipe is AMAZING
and the injury factor is way up there
Bo, I dont think too many people were, as not too many follow half pipe. It was part of NBC's coverage, and I thought very nciely done. I really hope that he can learn to walk again.
it is really fun to watch.
indeed red, hope he is able to recover
Shawn White - is he from this planet? what a competitor
Shaun White
getting away from Olympics, like the bungee jumping thing, daughter called me AFTER she tried it - and said once was enough
oooops, sorry Shaun
yes, and the injured man, Kevin actually beat Shaun White twice....
Yes, Flosey your daughter is nuts!!!!
there are times I agree with you there red, she's a bit of a dare devil
this is fun, but work beckons, so must return - a great day wish for you all - bbl
have a good day bo
** have a great one, bo
I also have to go, I must go swimming.
sounds good red, enjoy

I would love this grid if I had a Lickety along about now...

Well, let's go wake up Lickety!
he should be up in about 90-120 minutes, so he can get to work
lickety trying to recycle clues again? lol
indeed so, crossy :)
Hiya Crossy :)
i hope this evening finds you well, soodle
any help with pe 7/36?
I am very well, DC, thank you, just a bit miffed by Crossy's lack of 'Hiya Soodle'!! lol
Tammy - If I am ugly, you are probably pr****** than me....

She must have been delighted! I am still waiting to see Soodlebum appearing....
hi Ruby
gd night everybody
goodnight Ruby, sweet dreams
Stats are in my profile for anyone who wants them.

Oiche mhaith, Ruby. ( EEE-Ha Wha) (means good night in Irish
Hi Jac, TY
ty, jac, and hello. What on earth is your icon picture?
Its eight fried eggs, of course, DC - Doh!!
Hi DCS. It's giant fried egg sculptures in the main square in Leeuwarden, Netherlands. About to change it to today's theme.
ah, so it was exactly what it looked like. huh. THanks :)
Gotta go 'cos I'm not really here.:-) (Other Half called me in saying it looked like a Babble list was needed.) Time for dinner.
njoy jac, thanks
hmmm can I find my last 32??
Hello early birds, or late birds depending. It is grey and drizzly here in the NW. I haven't checked the Olympics to see how their weather is today.
hello, ata and stidgmere
Hi dc and soodle and jac and ata et al!
Hiya Stid!
My ironing is done for the week and I feel liberated and ready to work my few remaining brain cells.
i find ironing relaxig, though it is nice when it's done :)
need clue for sp 6/27 please. Last one I need. for fireworks
water sp6
Yes, ironing is one of the activities that gives great relaxation.
ty dcseain. Got fireworks
Ironing? Relaxing? I'm clumsy by nature - no way am I relaxed by having something that hot so close to my skin!
*snoggles NB* (thats a sliding, snogging, tackle, BTW)
You are supposed to take the clothes off first, NB
:)
I so not find ironing relaxing. I find nothing about homemaking/cleaning, etc. relaxing. but I do like it when everything is neat and clean
Oh, Nancy I thnk it is the years of doing it and the burns acquired that make it a task one grows to enjoy.
Eva!!!!! (Leo's eyes just got pretty wide :D)
I will never grow to enjoy ironing. thinking of shipping all my wrinkled clothes out to you, stidgmere :)
LOL, Jess!
It was stressful at first, then it clicks, and is very relaxing in its precision, Nancy
Well, I agree housework is always there. I do not take in additional ironing but will not comment when you wear wrinkled clothes.
well since you are closer dc, I may send my wrinkled clothes to you then:)
have i said how much i dislike the neighbors in #202? I'm in my living room and can hear them - they're across the hall!
Eva, Leo now sees you as his rival for my lurve
ty stidgmere
I'm just sending mine to haz
Was there a fireworks for Matches!! Hooray and congrats.
You can send 'em to me, if you suit big holes
aww, im no competition. *slinks away slowly*
some people enjoy/like household chores and there are those of us who don't. we all know which group were are in
*launches surprise snoggle attack upon Eva* and the hunter becomes the hunted ;)
One of the first gifts I got from my future MIL was an iron. I should have beaten her son with it. At least it would have been used...
my botanical drawing/painting class starts tonight. I am looking forward to it
*squeee!!*
oooo what fun peri!
I like tha water-based household chores - kitchens, baths, laundry. Would rather someone else vacuumed and dusted.
oh, enjoy, peri!
LOL jess
Well, I think I'll take my 22 words and exit to play piano for a while. First grade children always prefered water-based also. Some coule have gone into the swamp-making business.
I hate vacumming and dusting
Jess! LOL
55 left, bbs
have fun, stidgmere, be well
I am looking forward to seeing your paintings, peri. When do you have Spring Break?
What can I say, I love bashing the ex. I just found his Myspace page, where he proudly lists himself as 39, single and FEMALE. I'm still laughing, a week later!
LMAO!
for the record, NB, we lurve leo too! we just dont actually, yknow...KNOW him yet. ;)
once when my eldest was little, i was ironing and she exclaimed "did you ask daddy if you could use the iron!?"
Leo needs a babble account
ironing obviously not high on my priority list
LOL good
LOL Eva! He's a little shy. He also claims he doesn't like word games. He prefers to hang over my shoulder and be infuriating by pointing out all the words I've missed ;)
Good Engough!! I really did laugh out loud.
theres a word game here??
It takes the eye of an outsider to find it ;)
Also, Good Enough, sorry for gargling your name
no offense NB :)
curling is the oddest oddest sport
is curling the advanced mops 'n buckets on ice?
it started on frozen rivers in Canada
I think so!
it just *looks* odd. brooms and brushing
that's the one! I don't understand the aim of the game, really. I assume they're very skilled but they may all just be laughing at us.
they all look very very serious about it
i think they just shuffle along constantly thinking "must clean the ice, must clean the ice, must clean the ice..."
it must be very scientific though
well, the broomers determine the path of the stone, and to a limited extent, how far it travels
LOL Eva. Maybe the babblers that find housework relaxing would enjoy this sport...
so how much does the actual "throw" of the stone matter?
guess you can count me out
it determines overall trajectory and approximate distance
hmmmm
the UK women's curling captain is *gorgeous*. random intellectual comment!
LOL Ata. I find a lot of the winter olympics quite difficult to watch...the skiing makes me flinch back and I start to feel nauseous watching them! Ice skating too.
lots of people have been falling down in the winter olympics... dunno if its like that every year, but i have noticed it a LOT this year...
love watching skiing though I hate skiing itself
hi all
might relate to the artificial snow, EvaN
hi, boo
i like watching downhill, but have no desire to do it.
loads of women fell on their downhill
and why is some of the snow blue? Some weird Canadian or IOC requirement for artificial snow?
course outline?
I watched the ice dancing last nite. I thought that Tanith and Ben were cheated out of the medals. The Russians were terrible and they got the bronze
you're right Eva, there have been some spectacular crashes
ice dancing always generates controversy
hiyas, got 15 minutes free time, weeee
that it does, nancy
hi, Gwen
hi gwe
gwen!
gweeeeee LOL
:D
man. tee-red! dont have much down-time for the rest of this week. *yawn*
i think i'm fighting off a cold, and i'm tired, too. i want spicy food, too.
bbs, gonna go make som tom yum
some tom yum :) bbs
mmmmm!
my collection of ways people have misspelled my names is up here: http://bookdoctorgwen.blogspot.com/ (looks like i have to add one now)
LOL. People can't spell my surname, even though it's really obvious. Apparently it's incomprehensible to spell
I quite like Gweee :D
hello babblers!
good afternoon, all -- another squeaker for Canada over Scotland in curling this morning.
do my eyes betray me or is lickety out of kilter with the grid....I don't see some of the combo's at all???
alante, do you have a weird surname? (mine is also misspelled a lot, and it's just FOSS)
lickety on vaca again!!
no! It's Hitchin. But no-one can spell it. There's even a Hitchin town in England.
(ack, sees that she just misspelled atalante, oops!)
ok this will be good for me LOL
hey, i know a hitchin 8-)
foff, fauce, fossette, foos, ross, moss, you name it!
do you??? O.O! is pretty rare surname
yay i found an 8!
I have a good name misspelling for you...On my parents wedding cake they misspelled my dad's name of Goff and put Goof...
good one, mpitt!
I found an 8 too
saw on TV a cake where they put on it just what the customer wanted: "LEAVE BLANK"
They loved to tell that story...my grandmother did an amazing job with a toothpick to save the day!!!
Good One Gwen!
my name backwards sounds kind of amphibian-ish: Soff Newg. LOL
oh, gotta run, appointment time POINK
looooool
did you misspell your last name backwards...would it be Ssof?
ok nose to the grid......later all
gnuoy. that's me backwards. dear me, how ugly.
very gnu-y
Ata?
oui?
me . . . Tennob . . . but maiden name was worse: Bmal
:-D
Bmal sounds like a medical test
eeewwww LOL
ohhh, are we doing last names? I did my first. Best to end the whole sorry picture there.
LOL!
Ykceb Nihctih
easy for YOU to say LOL
this is reminding me of the dwarf in Twin Peaks!
love love twin Peaks
me too, Ata -- we even had a Twin Peaks party at work -- still have a pic of my best friend wrapped in plastic on the floor, holding a log!
lol!!! it[s the most wonderful wonderful series
sigh . . .
Hello everyone, I am having a fairly perfect day. So please no ruinging it!
that my cue to leave, Red? ;)
what an intro, red!
hardly NB, how are you?
I am just so happy, we have normal temps, the pool temp was perfect, I was able to run an entire mile without irritating my injury, got to photograph a snapping turtle...and and and
oooo snapping turtle!
you're injured?
and Abbey Road Studios now declared a national historic landmark!
yes, did you know they can not retract their heads Ata?
I'm great thanks Red :) glad you're having such a good day!
Mixi, I have not been running since November.
really?!
glad you are good too NB!
that is what I read today when doing a little research....
when we fished in the bayou with cane poles when I was a kid, snapping turtles would bite off the bait, hook and all!
sounds very Tom Sawyerish, eh?
pe 7, please?
pe7 more pe5/12
I thought he was just being aggressive....the dog was going crazy, he started to foam at the mouth...
More small minded cyber

How many words today?

Hmm ... I finished Grem's list, but I only have 162. Big oops! bbl

off for lunch and the olympics :)
hey all, has anyone posted a list?
Hi all, back again. Got some world-class R.E.M on the TV in the background so should be here for a while :)
yay for REM, and WB, nancy
Thanks Seain :) LOVE that band
kim, yes, gremlin, jacula, and uneaxoise
thanx
i was shocked at one point to realize i own their whole discography - apparently i was a fan LOL
¡ay, dios condénelo! i have a head cold
LOL Seain! I've been working on getting their discography, but doing it backwards...the DVD I'm watching now is so old, Stipe still has a big, curly ponytail...
LOL, i remember that.
so, since you were so shocked (lol) to discover you were a fan, what other music are you into? :)
after REM, i own a lot of Madredeus, Live, Pink Martini, Alabina, Aterciopelados, Grapner, Bach, and Wagner
oh, and Mary Jane Lemond
lots of artists I've never heard of - have I missed something big, or are you into the obscure?
Grapner, Bach, and Wager are classiclal composers. Pink Martini is a wonderful 12-piece plus vocalist out of Seatle, which i discovered by accident. Live has several well-known hits, but not a huge following.
mary jane lemond does scots music, out of Nova Scotia
Alabina is a combo of Los Hijos do Sara and Ishtar
lol im a lost cause im into, floyd, supertramp, boston, elo, dire straits, eric clapton, journey, steve perry(with or without journey lol) and on and on and on ;0
Madredeus is a Fado group out of Lisbon
Oh no, well, I knew of the composers of course :) But I'm always looking for new music, so if you're keen to recommend the bands, then I'll give them all a listen
so, yes, obscure a lot of them :) Aterciopelados is punk out of Columbia
Pink Martini is one i totally recommend, and think you'll like. On YouTube, you should check out The Real Tuesday Weld
just turn that electric gi-tar up to 11 and pull the knobs off;)
oh, those are all nice, too, crossy.
if you like classical-style singing, Teresa Salgueiro is worth checking out - she's the female vocalist for Madredeus and has a very lovely, clean, crisp soprano voice.
lol crossy pictures dc moving crossy records around with tweezers, like they are road kill lol
with 55 left, I am lacking any more gumption...
Will do Seain, thanks ;) but these bands better have huge back catalogues....'cause if I like a band, I go ALL the way, lol
Ok make that with 54 left...
of that lot, Madredeus has the largest, Pink Martini the smallest.
hiya, red
Live's is pretty large, too, come to think of it.

what is the pe 6/21, the first one? Right after Babbler's name
marty has decided he MUST get into the closet. i don't know why. he's attacking the wrong side, so it isn't going to work.
there isn't a pe6 right after a babbler's name. there's a 7 and then an 8 and then another 4.
there is one right BEFORE her, though. one who throws things at someone else.
okay, ty

are u using a list hursh?
lol a
no
congrats jilli!!!!
lol AD!
7fe; 6fr
thx all :)
if i had the list, i wouldn't need help :) i avoid the list in order to be sociable.
tis an fe then
oh duh... puleez forgive me hursh (and all); i'm functionally brain dead, in a fog, majorly sleep deprived
aha, the party!
thanks
word, no nappy?
NOW i can Go to the G's
hehe, a stinky place, a fe***ia
got a G... one more o' those...
fe4/7 x3, fe 5/16 x2, fe6/27 (plural a 5)
with Expert and Lickety one can use the list AND be sociable
this is true Jilli, I am thinking that there is no lickety today.
but if i use the list, i won't be sociable. i'll just do it by myself.
fe6/27 x2 sry
it's just how i operate.
I realise that, red
i usually use the list close to flip when i know i can't finish; or if i can't be around to finish
I usually go to it when I have 30-40 or so left. but none today, so I am at 44 left...
it's more fun to do what you can by yourself; cannot understand the use of morewords... i welcome the challenge
3 go words or 4?
soryy, but I use the list all the time. I'd get nowhere without it.
i do too jilli, but at the end
4 go words hurshy
to each their own...
don't know hursh about the go
there is a list, red, in gremlin's profile -- une's too, I believe, if you have them in your My Friends
aHA! i need another go then
yeah... to each their own...u r right
I'm good thanks!
i'd rather use the list to find out what i'm missing when i'm going nutty trying to figure it out lol
my icon is still showing movieman's birthday... do you see that? or do you see Little Chef?
chacun à son goût :)
sometimes i'd ruther use the list to find out what i'm missing, and sometimes i'd ruther bug y'all to find out. but i kin always switch if it is bothersome.
I see Little Chef, AD -- had to go out and comeback in to get it.
me too hurch
however, this go is a stumper. i have a 4 and 2 6's...
i watched ratatoullie w/one of my grandsons last week and just loved it
lemme try it hursh... brb
I also liked the film ADHD, and I am not always a fan of pixar...
there's another go6 -- do you have the stickier one?
yes, stickier and neck lump
another spelling of neck lump
brit sp of neck lump
oh those tricksy britses!
it's the correcx spelling of the thyroid condition
that leaves two P's and three T's
2 pa words, or more?
aha... the english and brit way to spell it
maybe?
Jilli, congratulations to you and all fo Canada on the Ice dancing Gold!
2 pa only
and 2 pi?
5 pr?
tx jilli... neck lump lol. i'm thinking lymph nodes, carbuncles, swollen hickies
i know there's more of one of those!!
thanks, red -- and we just got another gold in women's ski cross :)
Hello Everyone :)
Ski cross is neat!
Hi Sadie!
3 pi
The Gold in Ice Dance was really sweet
hi sadie
unless there are some nasty pt words...
What is ski cross
Hiya Redhead
no pt
er red turtle even sheesh
it's new to the olympics this year
Hiya jillibus
you slalom some and you jump some
Bichon, I bet you have your eye out for tonights skating!
ski cross is madness -- like motocross on skis
ski cross is 4 skiers racing at the same time over big hill sort of things, like snowboard cross
I always have my eye out for figure skating, which, so far has been great! I am keeping my fingers crossed for Kim Yuna
this course had 2 halfpipes, some of the smaller women had a hard time getting over them due to their light weight...
I saw ski cross last night for the men. Looked like roller derby on skis
I like Rachel Flatt, I do not like how everyone keeps calling her un-glamorous, she is only 17 after all...
got the pi! so i must need another pr...
aka Yuna Kim -- and she trains in Canada with Canadian Brian Orser
6 pr
Rachel's a great skater, but she's not a media draw. She's rock solid though
gotta run... hubs is done snowblowing... i should feed him, no?
I think I actually just like her because she seems rather unaffected, and grounded.
I wonder how Joannie Rochette is going to be able to stand up for the thousands of Canadian fans going gaga
BUt Kim Yuna....also seems quite sweet...
Oh I think that will just be awful for her (rochette that is)...
I hope Joannie Rochette does well -- what courage she has in adversity!
Mirai Nagasu is such an emotional skater
She has a floaty quality, Mirai does. I have tried to follow these things better this year.
got it!
Kim Yna was a brow-beaten Asian skater before she teamed up with Brian Orser. He's done wonders with her. I hope she getsthe gold and he does too.
only 3 T's left now!!!!
Any questions you have about figure skating, I probably know the answer
gogogo hurshy!!!
where can i get a video recording of lucinda ruh, bichon?
Yes, I gathered that she had been pressured quite a bit from the bit on NBC, that sort of said her mother pushed her quite a bit.
have you done a lot of it, bichon?
i bet you don't know that answer!
NO, but my daughter was a competitive skater in her youth
Bichon is the hub of skating information!
I've been a fan since Carol Heiss won gold at Squaw Valley in 1960
I'm that old
LOL, I have not been alive that long.
I've been a fan since Sonja Henie (sp?), lol!
I do hope the USA does well in the skating, I dont know why exactly.
Okay Jilli, that make you older than my Mom
watched Barbara Ann Scott on black & white TV
when were torville & dean?
how old is your Mom, bichon?
The US did well to get a gold in the men and a silver in Dance. I'm content. American women used to be on top, but Asian skaters have seemed to have taken over
I watched everything on a black and white TV until I got a TV as an adult...
My Mom was born in 1924
T&D were in the 70s I think -- Google will tell us
80's?
she's older than I am then, bichon, by 3 years.
I remember watching the O's on TV and then there was no VCR and I couldn't watch it again
T&D won in 1984
I think the torvill and dean were the 80's.
Skating is starting on SportsNet here
Jilli, you were born in 1927 and you're still Babbling. An inspiration to me
Oh I wish it were here.
ok, i been a fan for about that long then. i mean, my grandfather ice dances, so theoretically i have been a fan longer, but that's my first memory of watching professionals.
I only get the O's on NBC.
thats neat hurshy.
what is the point total today?
there is some stuff on USA bichon.
You're right, T&D's Bolero was at the 1984 Olympics
my grandfather is in his 80
bichon, about the skating tonight, will the top girls be doing the same programmes essentially that they did at the nationals, etc?
2271, hursh.
in his 80's, has had quadruple bypass surgery, and still he skates
2271 pts
If I watch the skating on my DVR I don't have to watch those very stupid commercials
Hello everyone.:-)
thank you
Sweet hurshy
hi jac :)
Hi jilli.
Helo Jacula.
Hi red.
i wish the skating commentators wouldn't tell us that people have already performed this routine at other competitions. it would be nicer if i could maintain the mental fiction that it's as new to everyone as it is to me.
bichon did you see my question>
I kind of forgot that and was surprised to see the ice dancers doing the same routienes from the nationals or worlds competitons...
anyone else seeing lettuce?
even if i HAD seen them before, i wouldn't be able to tell, most likely. i mean unless it was REALLY unusual.
Hello everyone
i'm seeing lettice...
oh ye, red, lol!
Skaters generally get one program per year. It takes lots of time to learn a program and get a full grasp on the choreography
hi bugs!
bugsaw's pic looks like lettuce
I'm pleased to report a virtually clean bill of health after my ECG tests and treadmill tests at the hospital earlier. These were ordered in the wake of my Mum being diagnosed with angina the other week. I was also relieved to have beat Mum's 6 minutes on the treadmill, since she's 75 and I'm 52!:-)
good for you jac
done at last!
Good job Jac.
bugsaw's pic is still Murano beads ;)
a skater will switch a program if the new one isn't working, but that's usually not the case
good job jacula! that treadmill test is nice until they crank up the incline!
hursh - a lettuce trapped in a sweetjar.
YAY hurshy!!!
Nice news Jacula
Yay Hurshy
thats what I thought bichon. I am definitely going to enjoy it tonight.
I told my son they pronounced me 'fit as a fiddle' and he looked me up and down and said, 'funny shaped fiddle'. 'Humph!' I said. 'Okay, fit as a cello.'
Sorry jilli, but you are correct. I was away for the weekend and didn't play. Then last night I went to bed early without looking up what it was supposed to be today. I like your icon tho!
Well done, hursh.
jacs its good news whatever string instrument you resemble!!!
congrats hursh!
red - yes. I just need to cut down on the wine. My trigylerates were high.
Well, bugs, unfortunately I've only seen one Pixar movie, and that was Finding Nemo, on TV. I rarely go to the movies -- spend too much time babbling and playing bridge.
well jac, I dont drink at all, I promise my life is still good...lolol.
Jilli, the gold medal is perfect. Its something to celebrate.
I'm proud of the silver winners too.
*triglycerates
triglycerides is what they're called here
jilli - that's probably it. I was typing the word from memory.
I didn't even know what pixars were and was too tired to find out!
thanks, red -- I felt that way after aour drought!
bugs My icon is just a green heron photo I took. I should get with the program occasionally.
Bug - I've looked at your icon again and it's 'definitely' a lettuce trapped in a sweet jar.:-)
I just watched a poor man from the Netherlands, who has never lost this race since 2007, set a record and then be disqualified because his coach told him to go in the wrong lane. What heartbreak!
Was it a fun weekend, bugs?
Oh, poor man! My son's g/f from Netherlands, who is staying here at the moment, will not be pleased.
I saw that, bugs -- terrible!
I did like the icon Jac, but I won't pay that kind of money for one bead!
It does seem rather expensive, Bug.
when these things happen it is so upsetting.... the DQing.
I had a wonderful weekend in Victoria jilli. The weather was lovely and I enjoyed celebrating a 13th birthday, the expected birth of a baby, lots of grandkids and my friend's new home.
How's everyone getting on with the grid? The stats are in my profile if needed. My Other Half called me in earlier to say that people needed a list and were looking to either myself or Jilli to provide it.
39 left for me, very slow going....but I dont usually use the list until now...
Glad you have the list in your profile, jac -- mine is too cluttered with other stuff
red - well, it's there if you need it.
Bugs, congrats on a new birth!!!
thanks jacs
bugs, the weather has been wonderful indeed, but it seems it's back to wet normal now. Snowing madly on Cypress, though :)
We've had snow again here today, but it's stopped snowing for the moment and has mostly melted. The Scottish Highlands are going to cop for most of it this week, which probably means my poor cousin will be trapped at home again. She's getting fed up with it now!
jilli - I still keep reading your description of the compiler of Enable. I giggle every time.
:-)
can I get help with the H words. I have the part of the foot and the plant...
he6/21 - almost the surname of James, a famous Yorkshire vet 'All Creatures Great & Small'. Or try he + 4-letter word for public disorder.
Think of the vet from All Creatures Great and Small
TY, is there another?
he7/32 - a beneficiary of a will, more often seen with 'in' as a prefix?
oooh I always miss that one thanks jac! and thanks bichon and jac
he7 usually starts with in -- one who gets property from the deceased
thanks Jilli. my H is gray! yaya!
wtg red -- jac's clue was more succinct ;)
Phew! I thought for a moment there that I'd typed 'pubic disorder'. That'd be one in need of waxing, I guess?:-D
I did that the other day...
What, typed pubic instead of public or got waxed??
back in a bit...
typed...
See you soon, jilli.
I try not to share such details on the chat.
LOL red, I thought it must be that or we'd have heard the screams.
It's a common typing error, red, along with 'Dead Sir' instead of 'Dear Sir'.
I'm back...had to go pick up my Toyota avalon got all the recalls fixed...then we went to 1/2 price pizza night...yummy! 86 left
dead sir is a bad way to address anyone.
hi MPitt.
My toyota has not been called in for fixing...but so far it has been fine fine.
hi red...
I'm thinking I might have to look at the clues...getting harder for me...
red - indeed it is! Back in the times of typewriters without correcting ribbon, if you didn't have skill with a typewriter eraser you had to type the whole letter again - as the ladies who worked for me frequently found out.
Hi MPit.
Red...several models have been recalled for things...you can go online and check yours...we are taking my inlaes in for them tomorrow...they are in their eighties but have lots of health issues so we help them with most things...trying to keep them indipendant as long as possible...not easy...
Hi Jac...
My car has been recalled, but I have to wait for a letter from the dealer for a time to come for repairs.
oops *inlaws
Luckily for them, if they hadn't ham-fistedly taken most of the surface off the paper trying to erase the 'd', I could usually sort it out for them. All they had to do then was align the paper properly again and type in the 'r'. I often found it best to do that, too. *sighs*
i have a 2009 Prius- I think.
good grief another * independant...gotta get a new keyboard with letters on it....
It may be a 2008.
my Mom made me do typing in high school, I am now glad of it.
red you crack me up...you're not sure? I think the Prius' have some recalls also...
red - it's still a skill worth having.
Oh, I see the fox has visited and eaten the 3 slices of out-of-date ham on offer tonight.
I bought it new, but I have no idea what year it is....i bought it under a lot of duress.
the prius has some gas pedal issue and apparently some cars from some years have a braking issue. but I have not had any issues.
i cannot type
hello all
Hi kje.
and yes, who knew! it is a needed skill in medicine
red - best to get it checked out by a garage you know and trust, so they don't tell you things need doing when they don't.
hello all
yes it is but I have to sit in a funny way because of this room so I don't sit right in front of the keyboard and it throws me off....oh my..oh dear...I want to move our office upstairs to a small bedroom and make this a guest bedroom/doll room/game room...but I have many boxes of that stuff packed and right behind me so that's what makes it difficult...I need to get motivated...the winter gives me the blahs sometimes...LOL
hi 60
clue for fe 5 16 first one please?
Oh my car is running great, I just need the toyota dealership to let me know when I can come for the "repair"
oops i mean second one. sorry, i got confused.
the fe 5, 16 that I have is a weekday with no feasts to be celebrated. also the name of a hair dye
sad that i knew that better from the hair dye
2nd fe5/16 is a horrible smell. Or try fe + *** (a small hill)
Yes Red we called the dealership here in Maryland and they were all prepped and so organized they gave us an appointment can you believe it just like a doctor we took it at 12:00 noon and had it back by 5:00 they are marvelous. Apparently all the dealers have the fixes now.
well, kje, just keep the other in mind, after all, you will dye hair on a day when no feats are being celebrated...you will have time.
ty got the 5. but what is the six? help needed for second fe 6 27
I think I shall call my dealer on thursday then.
thanks MPitt. helpful. I need an oil change too.
mkg - you'll be 'in fine fe6' (shape/condition) when you find it.
Only 35 left....
(Rhymes with 'metal'.)
Keep going, red... nearly there.
i am just clueless with this one. rhymes with metal...fetal not in grid..............fetel not in dict...what am i doijng wrong?
just got it. wow. ty for clues.
yo are spelling it wrongly mkg as you are looking for a 6 and you are typing in a 5.
Try a double consonant in the middle, mkg and end the word like 'little'.
you're only using five letters, for a start ;)
or "that's a *ine k***** of fish you have got me into"
got it. ty pinny
nice clue lynxx.
I have completed the B words.
Hello Pinny. Where in UK are you? (County not exact location.)
now moving to the left to do the S's
Well done, red. What's next?
am in london
to the left?
Ah, the 's' words.
dyslexia - left??
my other left.
Pinny - the capital, eh? What do you do there?
Good thing I dont work in surgery.
red - move away from the scalpel
LOL red... yes... lots of law suits in your future for removing the wrong limb
right now i'm looking for a new job (work in internal communications), but am a born and bred londoner and have lived here for 31 of the past 32 years
red - I'm very glad you don't work in surgery or cardiology if you can't tell your left from your right. However, you drive....
i am eating arctic char for the first time... this is a great fish!
I do, and I am your Emergency Nurse on many days....
need go clues. have one but dont know which one. it is thyroid tumor. need others.
Pinny what exactly IS international communications?
what hospital - don't want to wind up there :)
red - not my emergency nurse; wrong continent. LOL.
ah bo... I think red would be a good nurse... I'd take her
LOL. I have actually worked at some of our nations best hospitals, but for now I am in the backwater of Florida Hospital and finding it much less stressful...
kje - not heard of that fish.
*internal* communications - is corporate communications with a focus on internal stakeholders - tends to deal more with employee engagement and retention than with PR
We tend to deal with limbs that are already injured, so its easy to tell the good one from the bad!!!
also called red trout, jac
used to write tv shows and then moved into corporate writing a few years back
Pinny - thanks for explaining. Sorry to sound so nosey.
i think in europe it is mostly scandinavian fish
not a problem - i appreciate the blank user icon and vague details don't really fly on the chog
blame it on severe luddite-ism
We do like some colour pinny
Ah, trout! I love trout. Brown river trout or rainbow trout caught in a lake, knocked on the head, gutted and then cooked in butter is one of the tastiest breakfasts I remember from childhood.
ha!
hello and would love a clue for the i word
need clue for gr 5 16 plz
ha! what? Have you found a word, caught one of us out on something or had a sudden lightbulb moment, red?
like an irritated eye part temple
Hi TO.
I was laughing at pinnys luddite-ism. One of my favorite terms.
this has red meat like a salmon.... it has been described as a cross between the two (not genetically)
uh...may i have the letter count?
ir6

Hello feather. Has being a mother killed all your brain cells yet?
lol jac, no, but being a human barometer seems to be!
Well, I have completed the 8's
Feather - hang on to those brain cells; you'll need 'em when your two hit their teens.
i actually lurk daily and peek in daily, so it never feels like i've been really gone long, even if you don't know i'm floating around!
heaven help me!
Human barometer?
lurker!
need he 7 please.
HUGE double whammy storm systems moving through the area. one tonight, won't be too bad for us, but one coming thursday/friday that i've seen described as a "snownado" and a hurricane like blizzard.
my head responds accordingly.
a snownado!?!
You'll probably need to fit dampers to their bedroom doors, too. (So they can't slam them after stomping upstairs when taking umbrage at something very slight.) *grins*
that sounds amazing!
80 degrees here today. lovely...lovely.
where is clermont?

yes, i am quite the mean mommy, so i've been told! he gets over it.
i like the unique ones... not the ones where i feel like i could replace one with the other and not know the difference.
feather - they always do. One day, when they have kids of their own, they find themselves saying just the same things as you did. LOLOL
pe 7 clue?
why mean mommy now (I COMPLETELY believe it, btw)
pe 7 clue?
SUCH A DIFFERENT IDOL VIBE

;)
i guess you felt very strongly about that, eh, TO? :)
well, I can tell by the pics that they are sorely abused and starved for affection
pe7 = an amulet. Or try pe** (Babbler of fairy) + *** (correct for the circumstances and at the time).
i know, it's just awful isn't it? lol!
TO's thrown the keyboard at the TV?
not getting it.
i am babblibg, eating, and freezing sine i am just in from the gym
no, jac, i'm pretty sure she liked that singer.
hursh -she got over excited.
Oooh I hate the cold feeling TO. warm up!
BBS.
i am a hopeless zumba wannabe
I used to be threatened to have to attend zumba if I didnt do the training plan....I just can not dance at alll
i'm looking forward to potentially not having to go back to school till next monday. tomorrow, i'm out for some computer training classes, and depending on when it hits, thursday and friday don't sound too promising!
that makes me very jealous, red
Well I am done with G.
weed, i mean
well it would help if i were any kind of shape
yeah I was wondering there kje.
i was wondering what secret zumba-longing you were harboring.
Oooh I ran one whole mile today without pain. It was a marvellous day for me.

good to hear that, staying warm?
hi babrab!
well it is after 9 here jilli.... :)
always
Hello, jilli
they show it way after, on east coast. sometimes ends nearly 1am
the problem I have is that they are literally repeating what was on from 3-6....
great T-shirt, TO!
not that I do not like the Nordic Combined...but I saw it already!
well, just sayin', red :)
well, I will probably need to toddle off to bed, work early in the am. Good night all, stay warm all and enjoy the skating!

Grem my mom and I are going to California for two weeks the end of March into April...she has never been on a cruise so I am going to take her on one out of SD down to Cabo for 4 days...she is 82 and we are going to have a blast...I took her to Orlando Epcot in 2003 and she still talks about it and her eyes just light up...my vendors paid for everything and treated us royally...my dh knows we are going to Calif. but not about the cruise..he will be so jealous but he won't take her with us here on a cruise....he is not into family as much as me...
that's so sweet MP; you're so fortunate to have your mom.
cool - I've only been on short cruises around SD Bay
buff - a white soda without caffeine
in the first sp5 a combo w/the sp6?
sorry that's actually the faucet one...
Ormal - thanks - got it!! now just 3 t's to go.
grem that is nice also...you can find very inexpensive ones for 3 days down to ensenada or catalina isle...we were in Newport Beach and they had one to Catalina Isle for the day around $60

*thoughts and prayers for jilli* {{{hugs}}} I'm sorry.
thing on top of a church and a bowsp*** is found on a boat
also seeing Joannie Rochette skating her best just now for her mother who died 2 days ago got the tears flowing
sp5 = point on top of a church
We are all by your side on this day jilli.
first sp5: if you add a- in front it means to have ambition for something
this is the anniversary of my mom's diagnosis.
second one - change last letter from previous
her first surgery was onthis day.
sad memories, AD -- we'll cheer up, though
Oh jilli that is so sad...my mom is a great lady but so very very lonely after my dad died..she met a man and they were together for about 8-10 years but he got a wild hair for some silly reason and went off and married a previous wife of his...he stills calls me all the time and says what a mistake he made...I pray they could get back together but he doesn't want to hurt his wife so I understand...My husband doesn't understand about family because his is so fractured and weird...although my dad came from a stranger and mean family and he was the sweetest man I've ever known...
please clue with clue grem, i'm too tired
please clue with clue grem, i'm too tired
okay... time for a cheer... who's close to fireworks

GO BUFF-GIRL! GO BUFF-GIRL! RAH RAH RAH *shakes pom poms* *does high kick* YOU GO GIRL!
to5/10 -- dbl the vowel at the end of the previous word

Ormal - it's the plural of to 4/6
GO OR=MAL! GO OR=MAL!

And/or add a personal pronoun to to 4/4 - that's the one I couldn't find forever.
thanks
We are flying first class along with my mom's little poodle "Sukoshi" we have a lady friend there that will take care of him the four days we cruise...she owns a dog grooming shop called "Clip 'n Dales"
I did that 3 times before and it did not take - now it did???
that means "a little" - is it a small poodle?
thank you buff
OK...since I've reduced myself to the pace of slug...I think I'll check email, etc., and come back for flip..
lol pin
Ormal -- didn't you see my clue which said to double the last vowel of the preceding word?
YW - and good night all.
sp7 please? not the sputum one
cul8r pini
that's also where the word "skosh" in English comes from, too
jilli, I did see it, and i did that three times, without it working, so I was confused

bfn MPitt
I hate re words
fr 8??
frettee
same ending as some of the other 8s
frettoor
fr8 -- more worried
doh!
lol jilly, I am stuck on the first two re5's and the 4th one. I want to shake the board until the words fall out at me
first 2 re5's - think rear end and change endings
I finally shook those two free, now for the last one...
I have an idea for a game - take Tetris, with falling connected shapes, but you only remove squares by forming words in straight lines.
4th re -- re + spanish aunt (*** Maria liqueur)
you take Tetris, grem -- count me out
yay thank you jilly! fireworks :D
YAY ormal!!!
dang grem trying to really put the pressure on with tetrisoggle?
dang, wish I'd had the idea when I still worked for a game company, could have pitched it to them
Ormal: or "Bogris" maybe
I like bogris so much better. It made me laugh.
grem, you'll be happy to know that years ago I bred my Dane bitch to a dog in Memphis whose nickname was Gremlin -- actually Am Ch Ashbun Acres Avalanche
Very successful breeding, which I repeated -- several champion offspring
wow, how to shut down the chat!
lol jilli...just a little talk about successful breeding and a hush falls over the crowd
just thought grmlin might like to know he was the namesake of a fine son of a bitch
umm, gee, thanks
yw, grem ;)
OK, back to clue begging...can't seem to get he-6 and 7...
oh too much, I nearly spit out my drink and did choke on it! lol
he 6 is he then what happens when a crown goes wild
he6 and 7 are not related -- I guess you didn't know the vet who wrote great books -- how about he + rumpus?
crowd not crown
OK, got 6
he7 -- usually preceded by in -- the beneficiary of a will
he 7: drop the in from the front of someone who gets everything when grandma dies
Oh thank you--relief!
going to change icon -- back soon
hello all! we just sang happy birthday to the younger stidkid... now for cake and presents! it has been a long day for all of us...
tr4/7 please? 4 left and i can't stay awake
is that the short math word, ADHD? like geometry only tr**onometry?
that's a tr4/6 and i've got that stid
tr7 -- change the last letter of the leafy word to the next in the alphabet
no, it's the tr that ends like a musical term: the bass or treble cl**
it's a tr4/7 before the math
hi stid!
two words before the math
I only have 167 words to go... ;-)
rice
use the "add word" box, lucky!
the word you want ends in a 4 pt letter on the bottom row, ADHD
unless you like to think outside the box
hey gremlinn!
stid, I have croci and snowdrops and hellebores and almost-open daffs but not one in full bloom
Thinking outside the box is usually a good idea, unless you're a cat and the box in question has your litter.
jill -- how are you doing? I almost never get to "See" you this time of the quarter
hey stid!
wonderful, jill! you have such a lovely little garden space. I wish I could pop up and see you for day.
as I said, must get next icon -- theme is motorcycles
LOL @ cat litter comment
hi all...Grem thanx for the list last nite
tx stid
wish you could too, stid -- maybe in spring break?

hey grannie! (hugs)

yes, stid -- not tied to Wednseday at the library any more
no? you resigned? *astonished mama look*
hey stid {hugs} back....have 9yr old g/dtr here impatiently waiting fot the flip...lol
*waves at granddaughter*
ages ago, stid -- still doing other things on Sundays when it's closed
stidkids are holding a debate on the merits of cheesecake and ice cream...
okie dokie, jill. you were pretty busy...
oh, shuddup, stidkids, I'm dieting
I'll have to let you know later, when I find out what my schedule is. a friend might be having minor surgery, in which case I will be come her kids' taxi for a few days.
it looks like i need two R s a 4 and a 5
stid, stop taking on extra duties!
then we shan't tell you about the choclit cheezcake tom made me so I could have a special treat while they eat real cake...
that's not extra, jill, that's what friends do.
ro 4/4 and 5/10
okay, time for presents... brb
but you do too much even now, stid * stern friendma look*
what i have: ro4 plant/under dirt; ro4 learn by repeating;

WELCOME ORMAL!!! *opens arms to welcome you*
The kitty is sprawled across the foot of my bed waiting for me.
one left.... does it go w/the roast?
I have a kitty on my lap.
this is a pretty kitty-friendly site
I have a deceased kitty in my heart
i'm fading fast. ro5/10 is my last word. clue clue clue
i miss my kitties
18 left, 18 minutes....aargh
i've got 1 left, but need a clue. too tired falling asleep
ro5/10 pretty please?
ro6 to the core, minus last letter
ro 5/10 -- subtract the last letter from the cad (ro6/18)
music, same as the by memory but a double consonant in there
i have a deceased kitty in my yard
omg that sounds funny...
Aww
ORMAL! you went pro?!?
wonderful ormal. tx. firewords
ok 79 left...I forgot about this
my uncle bought my childhood home and I had to explain the bodies in the yard when he tried to garden...

YAY ADHD@!!!!
how could you, pav???
lol ormal
YAY AD!!!
yes stidmama
yes jill -- and we just had another HUGE project piled on top of us for these last two weeks of the quarter. I am not happy, and won't sleep much for a little bit. But on my break, it's okay for me to step away from my shell.
congrats ormal
your kitty looks like the first kitty my hubs and i got together almost thirty yrs ago.. we named him Salem
YAY ADHD!
this guy came named Salem...
LOL Tom is giving me a birthday present too! a cool laptop "desk" for me to use while I study! (it has a cupholder) hold on...
when does this end, stid?
and a light!!!!!
That sounds like the first line of a limerick.
a friend found his mama pregnant in her yard, took her tiny self in and I took this fellow off her hands when he was tiny.
Minus a few syllables, of course.
hey stid..w.as reading chatlog to catch up..cheesecake v. ice cream?...if it's strawberry Haagen Dazs, it's a no brainer...and since I make cheesecakes...and I don't eat them, I'm biased...
it's a two- year program jill, but next year will be mostly actually in the classroom!
sounds perfect, stid -- you could even use it in bed, lol!
my Gidget died last yr days before her 18th birthday and Mutsky ran off ino the woods to die sev. months back *also old
I'm predicting a 208-word grid today.
i like the "mutsky" name. sorry you are losing your wonderful companions, Do Do
I need to find me some 8's
your cat is Salem Ormal?
that's the point... I usually study in bed because I can stay warm... and then the boys can do their "thing" in the living space.
oh AD -- that's sad. I had to let my Susie go when she was just short of 19
Yep, he came already named and so we didn't change it.
gremlinn, that's a big one.
I have another cat and 3 dogs too.
I changed my cat's name when I got her from the animal shelter.
I would prefer a 90 word that I could justify as a reward mid-way through the final push on the paper...
gr8 gr** your teeth + wedding cake has several ****s
I can't even recall right now what she originally was named.
we changed our lucky'
changed our lucky's name from "pharos" when we got him.
Oh yeah, "Wendy".
it was such a strange name.
Around 150 would suit me -- not a lot of unwords, though, please
have that one ADHS and of course the more beautiful one
then he's MINE! oh no, that's right, Salem went to kitty heaven 15 yrs ago.
pharos: a lighthouse or beacon
we gave him a choice of several names. I wanted to call him Michaelangelo because he's so pretty... but he preferred Lucky...
ADHS? = ADHD...I used to work at ADHS...
pe8 table of elements (change last consonant)
hey jill!! did you see the news about that huge Dane from Arizona? he's HORSE-sized!
phares en français = headlights
nice clue ADHD, didn't think of that
phant = patriotic
yes, saw that, stid -- some horses are smaller
we had 11 cats at one time
when i was a kid we had 26 at one time (all barn cats)
I think my CAR is smaller... LOL
yikes, AD!
Did you call them the alphacats?
har har
I always wondered why engines have "horsepower"
well, I am going to exeunt before flip. I want to go through the latest version of the paper with a red pen tonight so I can make final revisions and edits tomorrow.
lol adhd, I had 20 at once (4 mama's and all had 4 babies)...many many years ago. Thought I was one of the only ones like that tho
(((hugs everyone))) I hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow! *poof*
night stid
we didn't have a barn to justify it, lived in suburbia
exeunt is "they leave"
we started with two males Fatty and STupid... one was fat cuz ate all the food, the other was stupid cuz he let his brother eat all that food. one white female i called snow white (she was a slut)
PAV: engines have horsepower b/c it's the number of horses that would be required to attain the power in that engine
great names, AD!
Snow White, because she was pure as...never mind.
I'm in hysterics here, snow white
first litter gave us Little Fatty, next Mini Fatty, Micro FAtty, Macro Fatty, and on and on
yeah, until she, well, she wasn't so pure... like i said, she was a slut... how do you think we ended up with 26 cats?
but they must have a standard for the size horse needed as a comparison, yes? a SHetland vs a Clydesdale just isn't the same...
Was there a Macro "Big Mac" McFatty?
ti-7 please? (5 left!!)
dalia add a cons to the ti6 just before
ti6 + consonant
*Replay of Joannie Rochette on now -- she left us in tears and held them back herself -- what a brave lady
and hello all
tx!!
Type of a hawk, also spelled without the "i"
I would assume that we're talking the type of horses that used to be used to pull carriages - those of middleish size?
they didn't have Big Macs when i was a kid.. just the regular McD burger for 15 cents
i think i was already in my teens
miniature horses are about 32" at the shoulder -- our danes about 35" on average -- the giant one is 48"
nasty weather out there... we had snow all day, then rain for two hours, now i can hear the freezing something going on out there
i cannot ride anymore, i'd love to n
tohave a mini horse
ok PAV - I had to look it up cuz I'm like that - Draft Horses
i've got to sleep before the flip or i'll force myself to stay awake for hours. see everyone tomorrow.
peace....OUT
horsepower was originally used to compare steam engines to draft horses.
