Morning all - Katie - going to Asda need anything?
An unau, an inia, and a nene walk into the bar. The nene says to the unau: "Look at the inia! It's a miracle!"
No I'm off to my pamper weekend soon so I'm fine lol
what happened to not shopping on a saturday?
<-- scratches head at grem's story
Unexpected birthday!!
someone I should be buying for?
that's what I plan on doing..shopping at the mall;-)
It's an inia, jilli...an inia! Get it?
Walking? On land?
no
I have a massage booked at 11.15 in Leeds!
oh now I get it!
I'm with you Jilli
I'm in the dark
I'm lost too, lol
robbie is obviously cleverer than I
Inia is the river dolphin.
inias can't walk
lol..it's a miracle that a dolphin would walk into a bar;-)
Here's a tougher one. My friend wrote this once:"A sibyl, a haruspex, and a rhabdomantist walked into a bar. The sibyl said, "There's going to be this big flood, and it's going to be terrible." And the haruspex was looking at this dead animal, and he said, "Yeah, it's going to rain hard and wipe everything out, and it's going to do all kinds of damage." And the rhabdomantist said, "That's terrible! Why...I'll be out of a job!"
oh, of course, duh.
Oh, ok, now IC, lol
Get it? He's a rhabdomantist! Heheh.
feeling just a little thick now!
guess I'll have to go to google
Getting, dizzy and light headed, must be bedtime, Night all! And thanks for ev thing
gn amy, tc
am beginning to understand why you are so fast at these grids grem
see if I need to google for a joke I know it's not meant for me lol
I had to look all those words up too.
good night amy
oh, a haruspex is fun!
Well, the funny part is to tell it to people in person, and at the end you pretend they should know what it meant, and you get to watch their confused faces.
still listless with 14 left, time for bed for me too, gn all
wow, angelina!
wtg angel, sleep well
And you pretend they're dumb for not getting it.
tx katie and jilli :)
ok grem, here's one more confused face
oh I get it...he won't need to look for water...too much hard rain
yep
night angelina -- dream of words!
no one will need his services
gotcha..lol...who needs a divinity rod to look for water any more
see I understood that joke since a read the book Henry and his dowsing rod by Kenneth Roberts. If you enjoy quirky bios this is a good one.
good to know book
We used a diviner a few years ago to find a spring on our property. He found it.
really jilli...glad it worked!
I remember my grandfather doing that was it with a willow branch?
I think so.
was a Y shaped limb anyway
yes
i do not understand it but many swear it works. Henry found water all over Maine. yes it should be a willow rod.
willows usually grow near water don't they?
I saw him do it. Amazing. The stem of the Y curved down.
that is amazing!
Yes, they do.
yes they do, weeping willows need constant water.
yes, was it Albert K?
No -- this was back in Quebec.
weeping willows are pretty
right off to pack for my pamper weekend, see you all on monday x
Have a good time, katie!
have a good time katie
snap, robbie!
have fun.
enjoy Katie
On dowsing: http://tinyurl.com/dcm98n
In a nutshell, it's all superstition.
hmmm, speaking of willows, just got al5 and 6
Interesting site, grem, and I see what he means. In my case, there WERE more plants in that area ;)
we have an aspen tree in the yard...it was a weed that grew into a huge tree...lol
PB for robbie!
oh no -- sorry -- was thinking of al5
oops!
Weeds are unjustly hated. They are good plants like any other!
I'm fading fast
oh..I thought I missed tree..lol
grem -- do I know the ax4/9?
I agree, hubby and i were admiring the violets in our yard today even though they are considered weeds. they look pretty.
it sounds like the thing which connects pairs of wheels on a car
I just monkeyed it
def is "Relating to, characterized by, or forming an axis"
got it
my monkey went on strike -- complained of overwork
lol jilli
Overwork? I know a lot of monkeys whose entire existence is spent hammering away on typewriters, trying to randomly reproduce the complete works of Shakespeare.
ah, got it -- was starting with the wrong A
ahh
yes, grem, we hired all of them here
I hope you're not paying them wages, because you'll soon be infinitely broke.
could I have a clue for at7 please?
a + "very" in French + two vowels
they get paid in imaginary bananas which is easy because enable drives us bananas all the time
TY Grem. Hello everyone
hi lynxxx
tyty Grem, got it
hi lynxxx :)
hi lynxxx
Morning everybody :)
hello soodle :)
hi Soodle
Its one of those Perfect spring days here. The air is crystal clear, the sky is blue, with a few fluffy clouds, and all is well with the world!!
lovely Soodle
hi soodle.glad to "see' you!

no robbie, it's hiccup time
happens at midnight Pacific Time
aaah!
I thought what happened!..i don't want to be redundant!
no, if your message doesn't go the first time, just wait, takes a few seconds
my grandmother used to sing each morning..it was lovely...i am not a morning person..lol..it always amazed me how she was so cheerful..lol
Robbie - clearly aliens have invaded my body, cos I usually am Mrs Grouch in the morning.....
I'm jealous of your blue skies and perfect spring day!
it is cold, rainy, and we have gray skies!
This is Ireland. It will probably rain in a couple of hours. But I am seizing the moment, while it lasts!!
;-)
lucky you soo, i'm in the dark on east coast us
Can someone give me an explanation - yesterday I entered all my words on lickety's page. But, when I went back, the gremlins had eaten them. What did I do/not do?
new grid christine
Feed the gremlins Bicarbonate of Soda. Tough grid yesterday!!
No, I started just after the flip, worked it for a while then left. I returned after a couple of hours, and all was gonea.
this grid is much friendlier
or gone, maybe.
that stinks Christine
Were both lists gone?
or just Lickety's?
All the words I entered ... in the grand scheme of things it's not too dreadful, but it's bloody annoying. I was on a roll, and entered 15,000 wods in 10 minutes - you know how it goes some days.
That shouldn't happen.
Y'know how lockety's list shows the first two letters -- that's what was there when I returned.
but what about the other list?
Well, licket's list was there, my wods had disappeared. It's really not too important, I guess, but I was bereft (overacting, again).
well, I'm fading fast..nite all!
*poof*
Christine do you bulk add words to lickety's list?
I understand that Lickety's list was there, unfilled, but was it the other list which disappeared?
that kind of girl.
night robbie!
I'm not ...
poof
I use Expert so when I enter a word it goes into both lists automatically at the same time.
bye weiik
I think I'll check-out the little yellow boxes at the bottom of lickety's page.
I'd just like to say, I'm not the gremlin that ate the words.
lol gremlin - prime suspect
I figure you added the second N as protection
Haha...my name has had two Ns since I started with it in 1998.
First site I tried to use it on, "gremlin" was already taken.
hi ursh
hello jilli
So glad you explained that, grem!
Hi jilli.
Tsktsk, no need for sarcasm!
Hello Frances!
Time for a cuppa, and read my book for a while.
No, grem, I wasn't being sarcastic! I had wondered about the two Ns
Ah, sorry.
I have an email friend who had to do that when aol messed things up
double the last letter of her name, I mean
Cool.
fireworks
and now to bed, busy day tomorrow, goodnight all
nj flosey
ty grem
WOW flosey! And goodnight!
see you all tomorrow night
I still have 35 left and will leave them for tomorrow -- goodnight all.......*poof*
gd morning everybody
Hey Ruby'
hello herin
how you?
freezing! it is cold and damp - it may be a typical spring, but I would really like some sunshine!
how about you? You're in autumn, n'est-ce pas?
Autum and its a cold day
is the x there for a reason?
No idea
hi herin and ruby. I've found one word with x in, so I guess there's a reason.
Hi Hydra
It's spring here. Lovely and warm.
hi, hydra, I found one but x in the middle isn't such a big deal!
i have five with the x
good, if it's warm there, it wil be warm here in two days!
oh that hurshy, so smart!! lol, gd morning
Wow, hurshy! I have only found 37 words so far.
Hurshy your nephew is so big now
yes, he is rather
Ruby, our lovely weather started two days ago. So it should be with you very soon. Butterflies, flowers, I'm wearing cut-offs and face tan on my legs!
Cat won't come near me 'cos I stink of chemicals, but I can't show my blue-white legs to the world.
I thought He was as big as your niece time flies
no one weill ever see my legs! pale and skinny and generally yucky!
I am permantly pale
no butterflied yet, but when the 9rare0 sun comes out, there are a lot of lizards
my orthopedist keeps saying "sun, sun, sun"
that was *rare*
I like to have a gentle golden glow. I love lizards ruby. I saw a HUGE green one in the Loire valley once.
I had a little skink in the house yesterday
I've never seen anything but small brown and black ones, but they're pretty anyway. What's the difference between a skink and a lizard?
Sweet! We had a slow worm in the garden. I don't know what the difference is, ruby.
the ones in Miami, although drab brown, had big red neck sacks that they would expand when dating
Just got a 7 letter word. Good-oh!
little tiny things they are lizards
I'll look it up but my reptile book is in French
they lose their tails if they get frightened
Got 3 7's now.
that must be what happened to us
LOL
I just looked up skinks; the ones with legs are very similar to our lizards but are shiny. It is a questions of counting their toes -- right!
How many toes does each have?
I'll try to see, but they are hard to get near, afraid of losing their tails, I guess
And I am going to go near one of those to count their toes. I cry when their little tails fall off
I thought the info you looked up would tell you. You mean you have to poke your nose up close and count? That won't be easy! I think I can live with not knowing!
Oops, must dash, see you later............
me, too, I am just happy to see them and actually saw one hunting on our one wunny day, in my rock garden. He would back on a rock and then dart into c a hole and come out with an insect hanging out of his mouth.
that was *sunny and *bask. My typing is pooply because my hands are so cold
I saw this fantastic book today on Twitter Classics
what book?
see you later, gotta run
hi all!! Can I have a clue please for the sa/8
samarium
sa8 Uncle Sa* & the ends like a fish tank
oops oops sorry
i feel a real dill now!!!!
lol, but I see you found it by yourself
hi lynn
hello Helen, how are you? haven't seen you for ages
i've been around, but not the chatting part!
all is weel with me, and you?
Very well. Not a bad summer, hope winter is equally mild
quite! where are you? i am in Melb
in Elwood. I remember you as you knew Ted the artist, a friend of my husband too
I'd better go set the table for diner and check how the dessert is going before I burn it. See you all later
ohhh yes..and he just had an exhibition I think..my son lives in Elwood and call it Ellywood coz he is in the film business
thank you helen, I never could have found that
as usual, the first 50 words are easy and then I slowly expire.....
pleasure ruby
wow, I just got another 10 on my own, *puffed upp and proud*
on
hello lizmac
Good morning/evening all.
hello haz
oops, hi everyone.
we knew what you meant!
Hello lizmac, ruby.
just dropped in to make a fool of myself, off for breakfast.
Lizmac, did you watch the final of University Challenge?
No, I didn't Haz. Was it good? I believe that one of the students now has a substantial fan club.
Yes! 19 year old who is a bit of a phenomenon, much like Gail Trimble last year. It ended up something like 300 to 100.
This series has been interesting, more close finishes and draws than I remember before.
Wow, impressive. Though none so charming, witty and handsome as the St. Andrews team, surely!
Absolutely not. The St Andrews team were in a class of their own.
Correct answer, Haz, as long as that's clear.
Oh yes. Answering questions is all very well, wit, charm and sophistication will get you further with the ladies....
......and they had that in bucket loads.
Away for breakfast, smugly.
They did. I heard that Jeremy Paxman asked them for advice. Or was that just a rumour?
Enjoy breakfast!
Yes, our Jedda begged them for advice, but they were just too modest to presume
Yes, our Jedda begged them for advice, but they were just too modest to presume
really!!! Breakfast.
Bye!
bye for now, almost lunch time (out! yay) here
Bye, ruby.
I'm off as well. Nice grid!
yes, lots of "builders"
and half!
*gone*
Ruby: http://tinyurl.com/ycqck5b this is the book (first image I grabbed) must cook back soon

hoodwinked is awesome and curiously hard to come by
It is on GO
huh, i'll get right on it then
do you know i actually memorised the yodeling goat song to "soothe" my kids to sleep. After i peeled them off the walls, it worked a treat
awwww cute

interesting grid. 2/3 smooth as ever and then all of a sudden I run out of words
I am almost halfway and getting stuck
most of my "mistakes" I am finding is forgetting to plural my words.
that bottom right corner is keeping me puzzled. cannot seem to grey out even one tile there.
oh good one, I must check my words for that
I still have lots to do from there as well
even one past tense word is plural
i found that bottom e to be fairly easy two of them have to do with swelling
Nono, I have only found one ed 5/14
pl that Mom
**Slap** thank you
wonderful, the plural search gave me 4 words I had forgotten.
the other sounds like the vehichle that undertakers use but drop the beginning
swelling? Ok, thinking...
excellent Sprite
LIckety says there is a TM 6/21, that one I will have to ponder on
oh that is a known babblet, Mom. Found it right after you told me it was there. Want a clue?
yes, please
tm + don't make such a m**s + it's bad enough as it ** right now.
ty sprite!
thank you Sprite
yvw
morning all. clues for the first 2 als pls? the 5 and 6

morning Jayk
Hi Jayk, I don't have them sorry but will help you look

my first AL5/6 AL + I am ol*** than you. And plural.
altered
yikes! sorry
thanks Sprite
Jayk, are there 2 plurals to the same E word?
don't have it Nono but will help you look
no sprite, i gave a clue but perhaps you dont use the same word for an undertakers vehichle
other E is er 5/10 but don't have it yet
oh of course, thanks!
2 of the es are plural but not of the same word
off to help looking for that se7
oh Nono, I missed your clue when I left to get my cereal ...** scrolls back**
last al 5/12?
my last al5/12 so far is I don't believe it al***ugh they all say it is tru
thanks Sprite
can't fathom how i missed that! Thx
yvw :)
finally got the E Nono, thanks
se7 is yiddish, for ceremonial dinners (plural). It ends in the edge, or the outer line.
se7 first part sounds like an aeromatic wood used to keep moths away, the last three letters are an edge of something
thanks again Nono

Hi NM

Crossy, I did get it.ty
ill leave it there for a bit then leak out my famouse, yes, even legendary riggatoni a la vodka
lol
You probably didn't see my response yesterday. There is a recipe in the NY Times archives that is similar. They had an interesting twist to it, with sauerkraut and a mustard and??? mix.
Ugh, what a slow computer. You never appreciate the laptop until she's gone...
mm interesting
did you have a spat and she up and left NB?
lol nb,i have a work computer and a blazing fast gaming rig side by side, and i go into shock when i am kicked to the work computer lol
Oh no, Lady, a considerably happier occasion! Leo took it with him on a small trip to see his family, since he'll soon be an uncle ;)
I'm on my cantankerous old PC, Crossy...and my god it's stroppy!
OMG the whole house to yourself looking to send my family off somewhere to have the run of the place lol
Good Morning Everyone
howdy mom
Oh I don't know, it's bizarre the place being so quiet! Also, I have visions of him returning to a smouldering hole in the ground where his flat used to be...keep running around checking door locked, gas off, no monsters under the beds...
Hi, Mom!
those monsters will get you every time
yet with Leo gone, it seems even they have gone with him ;) this is the closest to silence I've ever heard in London
it is strange when the family leaves - but I actually enjoy the quiet for a bit - at least I have my dogs - got a pet Nancy
rise
PB for me
Oh yes Mom, Lola (the cat) is strutting around like she owns the place...she has taken up residence where he usually sits on the sofa.
Happy Saturday Babblers

Hi gramma, don't have that.
What grade are you in Animad?
yes hego, made in germany,it is a usb device about the size of a deck of cards and it shine a laser disply of a keyboard onto any surface and you just touch the key you want and it will register it,you can even set up a click sound when you presss a key
Yes, I did see that somewhere.
It would be perfect for me. lol
last ones i priced was $129.00
Not bad
Might take some getting used to, though.
here it is hego...
http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/key boards-mice/8193/

Hiya Pini

but it is near the top of my want list
cause i burn through one standard keyboard every 3 months
Really?
yup
wow - I thought I typed fast!
what kind of keyboard are you looking at getting, crossy?
first all the letterning gets worn off, then the e or the a goes
I didn't think they could wear out like that.
My ais quite wonky, actally.
this is not a friendly grid...
at+ "again" prefix+ a*** is the largest continent a7
No TO, it's not.
thx bethn
i wonder what the duty would be if i ordered one ... i attract duty/brokerage fees like honey attracts flies
yvw : )
for my brother it is even harder as he is in costa rica.and keyboards set up for north america are impossible to get.so he did get a laser keyboard
what kind of keyboard? (I have a couple laying around here)
ty Beth

Have to come back to Jersey Welki
New jersey?
no kidding

oh, yes Welki, my favorite
where, jean? i lived in sussex county .. two of my kids are in eatontown and somerset
with thos eittle peppercorns - i still remove them
Jean where from in NJ?
<-- would even settle for a good stinky soppresata
I do the same thing, TO :)
Elizabeth/Union County. Sister is in New Monmouth, brothers in Union and Howell
hmm i don't like sopressata
that show Jersey Shore embarrasses me
though the difference between genoa and hard salami escapes me
Hey, my sister lives in Howell
does she know my brother?
well heck, maybe you two are related!
I live at the Shore. Very embarrassing!
also my nephew is a cop in Lakewood
me, too. at work the kids were getting their jersey shore names and one of the si's was making the most disparaging remarks about italians
(this all started because of your phantom, owl :)
what's even MORE embarrassing than the show is the number of people who follow it!
Where do you live now, Jean?
we used to stay in the height. carteret avenue.
Chicago area
Love Chicago!
my daughter is walking the march of dimes walk on april 25 in chicago, jean!

TY, welki
ginger ale and saltines....
Sorry, Ruru.
Hi Ruru
duh! looked and looked for that specific word. I think my new strategy has to be NOT looking and just typing in words that MIGHT be in there somewhere
All I have here is my nephew's KoolAid packets, tea, and a few Saltines.
I do that often, Jay.
Srabbs. are you doing slow sips of fluids?
Jayk, tr
I will start in a while, Nef. I drank KoolAid at 6 am.
any boullion cubes (for the sodium)?
Ewww
oooh, not too sure the koolaid will be good, too much sugar
but it's not working for the ma 7/36
I can put sa4 in a drink and make homema4 "Pedialyte."
lol
sorry, try again. Jayk, try places for making butter
This is a strange illness--aches, fever, chills for 30 hrs before puking.
you should do that, Scrabbs. Any chamomile tea? That may help too
Yes, I have chamomile tea.
(looks for koolaid)
GG--MA for making butter? i have the da
sometimes empty stomach is best
Making butter?
For a while
oh no....don't think about butter, it'll just make your stomach upset again
Yes, I will let the tea sit there for an hour.
sorry J. there's a huge delay between me typing and the message coming up. i thought you were still looking for the da7/32
koolaid makes me nauseous when i'm well.
Phantom = serial
my broadband speed is pathetic.
whatever you try to drink, just take slow small sips, Scrabbs. (But you already know that. It's just hard to do when you're sick)
It is quite sugary but I have no Gatorade.
phantom Miasma
OK, down to the me 5/14 and the stupid ma 7
Name that Mediterranean Island!
My me5 = plural of a drink
Malta!
I don't have the stupid ma7 yet

mi4, 5, 5, scrabs
Thanks hego ... haz can you give me more please
yw
guernseygirl I live in the Midlands about 15 miles from Birmingham
Geez, I never saw those mi words
Norma, the first three letters are indicative of something being bad, the last three refer to the nutrition.
you're sick, Scrabs
It's the same structure as the ma6/24 drink, just one letter different.
I just passed halfway.
mi4 like mi** wheats but change the consonant
i know. i saw it on your profile. i am in Sutton Coldfield
TY, GE
thanks haz, and good enough!

Haz thank you very much I am really stupid today lol

I agree about the election news ... lord help us by the time we finally vote !!!!
No problem, glad you got there in the end, Norma.
ty Haz good clue!
in this area, it doesn't matter what you vote, the tories always get in.
You're welcome, hego.
I can't decide ... I just know we need a change.. but to what ???
Good question, Norma.
i feel exactly the same, but i don't think Cameron has a clue.
Nick Clegg isn't any better and Brown is not to be trusted with anything .... help lol
The only comfort is that if Yes Prime Minister is anything to go by, the civil service will get him into shape.
We can only hope Haz lol
i want Vince Cable.
He isn't an option ... shame
he's the only one who seems to really understand the economy
ok, 100 down...back later for the rest
haz wants george clooney for PM
hello all!!
how's the grid today? can I use it to escape schoolwork?
Hi mama
No, George is above politics.
johnny depp, please
got to go clean for the late Easter celebration tomorrow, since we canceled last week due to the sick daughter...now we have to pretend its Easter tomorrow
or will it be more frustrating than the several hundred pages I need to read (and analyze) before Monday?
george clooney sounds good at least he would be eye candy
Did someone say George Clooney?
not spending much time on the grid - the chat has been good.
ruru knows that I have a sneaking regard for George.
Actually George is quite political.
can someone help with the first la /10, please. I am stumped. thanks

A very large branch on the southern red oak out back is dead - it's not leafed like the rest of the tree.
hi All. Seain, do you think the winter did it in?
"Winter kill"?
seemingly, nef, as there are still leaves from the fall on part of it - Southern oaks turn brown in winter, but keep leaves til wind or new growth knocks them off.
Same with our red oaks here in MN
ah, i didn't know any of the Northern varieties did that.
Hey! they need something to keep 'em warm! ;-)
I started thid grid this AM around 10, maybe; just returned to it and STILL don't like it.
true enough, ned :)
i listed with 59 left, and have not found it too awful. Lots of clues in chog helped
i've been in and out through the afternoon thus far.
I've been gone during the cluing I guess. I have 125 left to find. AND am going to watch my dtr in a roller derby in about 2 1/2 hrs
oh, fun!

hmmm. possibilities..but im not sure i want close to home to know what a nerd I am! no offense guys..
LOL :D
or my lack of a life...sounds better that way.
there are fairly regular meet-ups in England, New England, and the Mid-Atlantic, at least.
Kitty, there are Babblers all over; it just takes some persistance to ask and then find some in your area. I'm *hoping* to meet some Babblers in western MT this summer when I go out west to a wedding
Some in Australia, too
im going to Ireland in May...
and out in the seattle area too
Oh, you may get to meet harpjane
oh, yes, that's true Nef,seattle, pdortland, and salt spring islan
Nef, what kind of nursing are you doing?
I'm dying to meet both harpjane and lbd, seain

I don't earn much money (and I can only work half-time due to my bad foot); but I love the job! I really meet some great people and I also hear some heart-wrenching stories
ahh. Ive just recently gone back to travel/contract nursing...have a lot going on this summer and need to be able to be self employed that way..
hi harp! :-D I just said I'm dying to meet you this summer!
at least you love it Nef, and your back in the game..
me too, when are you coming again?
the wedding is July 3rd, we are heading July 1st and will be there til the 8th
very true, Kitty. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't work as a nurse...
the beauty of being a nurse is that there is so much variety! Just when you get burned out in one arena, can move onto something completely different...
harp, we'll be going from Msla, to Helena, to Columbia Falls and the wedding is in Polson
have to go! have fun!
I totally agree, kitty.
Bye now!
Are you flying into Missoula?
No, dtr. and I are going to drive out, I might ship DH out on the train or he may fly (whichever we can get the better deal on)
I'd prefer flying, but can't afford it

better clue, Flask?

Hi everyone! Nef, I have a professional question to ask you
(DANG! Entering chat in the word box again!) What's up, lbd?
it's a hospice question, so you may not know the answer, but...well, what is transitioning hospice?
transitioning hospice? i'm not familiar with that term, but i do know that there are several types of hospice (and chat STILL doesn't work in the word box! GRRRR
hmm, guess i'll have to rely on google. thanks tho.
I know that there is home hospice and also hospice homes. Hospice care is for a 9 or 18 month period of time
tell me about what you want to know about and let me know what your questions are
a person can have hospice care until it runs out, then has to be without it for a short period, and can re-enroll for another 9 or 18 month period again if needed
most people turn to hospice way too late in the illness and don't benefit from it like they should
lbd?? Are you off googleing already?
My sister's mil has alzheimers and is in an assisted living home. I'm not sure of all the specifics
sis just called and asked me to find out what transitioning meant in relation to hospice.
her mil has been in a fragile state for...well, it seems like forever!
I would guess that they are talking of trying to keep her mum comfortable instead of trying to keep her "well"
i know she has a dnr in place
if she's in an assisted living area, they may feel she needs closer observation and care
that's great!
are there degrees or stages that would relate to the need for hospice? (weird question, i know)
actually, sis asked if there were degrees or levels of death stages.
people often think of hospice as the last few days of life. The thing is it's a change in phiosophy of care: making sure the person lives a good end of their life, no extraordinary procedures or cares, but they will keep her comfortable
degrees of death stages? Hmmm, I'd have to say NO to that
But the focus of care changes to keep the person comfortable.
clue for ma6/33 please?
In Montana a doctor has to certify that you have a terminal illness and, in most cases, are not expected to survive more than 12 months.
instead of "curing" them or subjecting them to a lot of painful heroic procedures that increase the cost of care but really don't lengthen the life span.
Wow. I am humbled by the recent chat. To think that people have to face this on a daily basis, and still get on with their own lives is awesome. We really do not appreciate the professionals. Hats off to you and your colleagues, NEF
flask, under nurished
Flask, start with the opposite sex, then add a 3 letter word meaning ate
thanx lbd and Nef
thanks, nef. I'll have to talk to sis about all this. maybe even get some clarification about what she wanted me to research for her. (((HUGS)))
a one l la4 is a priest, a two l ll5 is a beast
thanks, soodle. Ilearned a lot about hospice with a number in my family going throughterminal illnesses. Here in MN the docs don't need to certify that a person is terminal, but they do have to agree that further intense medical care is probably futile

Nef, I work with the Coroners Agency here in Ireland, and I see things from the other end. It often worries me that things were not done right when they could have been. Best wishes to you and your family in this difficult time.
lbd, the key to hospice is that they will keep the patient in optimal health and as comfortable as possible; but will not prolong or shorten their lives. I hated it when families wanted the ICU staff to do "everything possible" to keep gramma alive. I hated to code patients who were frail and over 85 yrs old
soodle, could you explain what you mean by things not being done right?
Oh, and btw - fireworks. I am happy to clue if anybody needs same....
Having seen the fantastic care the professionals give Alzeimer patients and their families with my gran and then my mum I'll agree with that Soodlebum.
wtg soodlebum
yay, soodle!!!!! WTG!!!
Well - I see PM reports coming in, when I wonder if the right strategy was applied, or whether the patients wishes were adhered to. Heck! I am in an office, looking at the 'finished version', but I often wonder....
hello all
I only wish that more people would have their wishes on paper so their families KNOW what they want.
hi peri
lbd, many home care agences offer hospice care, y9u could contact one of them
hi all. i have a 5 year old "helping" me here. his suggestions: pine cone. usa. (although, usa does at least exist in here!)
hello all
Way-hey! Whats the 5 year old's name, Featherbee?
lol, it's my daniel
If lbd's SIL's mother is in assisted living, I wonder if they think in home hospice would be appropriate
hey Owl, have you considered Hyundai
Well, Hello Daniel. You are very welcome to Babble.
just started looking at cars today, looked at Honda fit, honda civic, hyundai elantra and the smaller hyundai, forgot the name
clue for re 6/24 plese
well go back next week to do some test driving
not trslly, but i think they are a very good value
peri, i love my hondas. always have. you can drive those babies into the ground.
created again matches
i like the elantra. very good value. honda did not treat me well, won't go back
they do appear to be a good value, might even be able to buy a new hyundai as opposed to a used honda
Matches... RE /24. I created something, and it was so good, i Re**** it
what did they do Owl
oh no doubt! and they have a great warranty.
is the hyundai related to the honda, or are they separate companies? i always wondered.
21 left here
separate ompanies, honda is japanes, hyundai is korean
my tranny went at 63K, and they still made me pay half
ahhh, ok. ty.
great spelling :)
One last comment about end-of-life care: it's a very fine line between prolonging life and prolonging death. I want to be kept comfortable and alert and be allowed to die when my time comes rather than having everything done and suffering in pain
sorry, 60K
got it ty you harp and soodle
me too Nef
I have a Hyundi Accent (probably goes by a different name in the US) but it has over 150,000 miles on the clock, and still going like a bird (said Soodle, clutching at the nearest piece of wood).
need only l more second me 5/14
I was hospital social worker for many years and often found that doctors were reluctant to refer a patient to hospice and when they did it was often too late
amen to that, Nef. I'll get more info from sis, then let you know what she's really asking me.
yes that ws the smaller car I looked at today
i have readup on hyundai and they madethe conscious desicion to become a quality company. And their 100K warranty is a direct result of that. The acera is right up there with other luzury sedans.
TO, I love my 2002 Hyundai Elantra; but am now looking for a new vehicle since it's got some major things going wrong
Matches, do you have the f
Aaargh. do you have the french word for excrement?
car shopping...makes me nervous!

i am deciding if i want to get my last car or wait until i retire.

i'll shop for cars before i'd go for the bathing suit!

ed5 swelling in the body
did you buy anything Owl?
ah, ty
the 8% sales tax made me defer some purchases to make them at the other outlets
ed5/6 swelling of body part, like a bruise
my hyundai has 120,000 miles on it. I received a recall notice about the subframe failing and it will have to spend 2 days in the shop for it they said when I had it checked. I'm also having some catylitic converter problems and the last time someone rotated my tires they stripped a lug, so that needs replacing too
la5/10 please?
ANd O clues... O plus doule cons, and vowel and pl it

I will be buying in Montgomery co or Delaware co
i LOVE phila premium outlets

Temple Owl, The sa8/55 starts with Uncle SA* for the ending, think the last 5 letters of a domestic fish tank

hi, folks
hi welki (shhh! working on the grid!)
fireworks, now off to play scramble
oh, okay ... HI FOLKS!
YAY peri!!! WTG!!!

hi welk
PERI?
hey owl, you'll get a kick out of this .. i went to a mall today and saw that they're opening a new coach store there. couldn't find it, figured opening was delayed. i walked around and then found a line about 1/4 mile long to get into the new store .. everyone in line, going in and coming out, had to pass through security!
i wondered what they were giving away to encourage so many people to wait in line
so instead, i went into another shop and bought a tiny red leather purse, the kind that holds essentials with a long strap that you can wear over or across your shoulder
hi all
hey nrk
(well not tiny .. maybe 6"x8")
the end.
:) welki
my husband called me a "handbag whore" today *LOL*
welk, i really don't get th coach thing
funny because it's true .. especially red handbags
Owl, me neither
I'm more of a Target purse buyer
and I use it till it dies
i am HATING the 8% sales tax in the city. they will prb levyit on clothing soon much mor elucrative than that crazy proposed tax on soda
doesn't matter where i see a bag, nrk .. if i like it, i buy it
doesn't matter where i see a bag, nrk .. if i like it, i buy it
hi nrk! franklin mills today but that tax!
well, if i like it and i have the money, i buy it
i am considering a hug change. rather than my usula trifold wallet, a change purse type. seems much more practical. and it's fossil - love their leather
and because i am a h.w., i make sure that if i bring one home, one goes ou
Owl, I'm going out tonight with that guy
but not a date
h.w.?
what's that?
handbag whore
um...not a date???
ah... a h.w. with discipline
well
i cancelled my "not a dtae" LOL
he had mentioned maybe we'd get together on the 10th
so I heard nothing from him until 4pm today
or i would no ndoubt be shopping in rehobeth rightnow
when he sent a facebook invite (to me and who knows who else) to go out and see this band
mmm hmmm
that's it
so I'm going
because I'm the world's biggest idiot
and because I want to go
i have deiced i want a "retrosexual" he appears to not be that.
but it was the ultimate in "no risk" invites
now i'm the one confused .. why is it idiotic to go out to hear a band?
what's retrosexual? I think that might be something I'd like too
nrk: do what you please. no reproach.
welki, this guy has been sending me mixed messages for 2 months
retrosexual: throwback male.makes dates. pays for them.
oh, I want that too!
holds the door. not primpy
which is why i canclled my "date" for friday night. who needs it?
I'm in charge in every other aspect of my life... I'd so happily turn that part of my personality off for a good old-fashioned retrosexual man
but also spends very little attention to personal appearance
me too! but i have to wait until i go to hte retirement home and someone's wife dies.
so he can send you mixed messages ... enjoy the night out and don't take any messages :)
welki, I'm okay with that
the personal appearance thing, I mean
Owl, ROFL

i never close out of it so i had not noticed
i just saw that today - change or glitch?
I am glad Babble still saves the words when you close out of it. Can you imagine having a huge grid & then losing all of your words when you close out of Babble?
since i use two different computers often (work and home) that would be a nightma** for me
Thought that it was change. It has been like that for awhile. I never thought that it could be just a glith.

i looked it up jill but it was so late in the day i went with wolferines
We were too busy travelling to dog shows in 1981 to go to the movies.
Jill I went looking for that sloth
Jill my best friend saw your Danes with much love too.
Just as long as you know what an unau is now, lol!
that's nice, herin :)
i would never be able to ahve a slow moving animal for a pet
Does ANYONE have a pet sloth???
My friends friend rescued a Dane as the dog was being used as a bait dog and was abused
omg, herin!
nope not me....lots of others tho
a bait dog? How?
It is terrible but pup has a great loving nature.
really? Never heard of a pet sloth.
How? These ...////... used the dog for the other dogs to attack her
they should have been used as bait themselves don't understand some people
done
YAY harp!!!
Barb as I have said before I much prefer animals over people at times
I agree with barb -- and what kind of dogs were the others? Are they used for fights? I believe that's illegal here.
YAY harp!
hey all, not playing, just checking in atm
Hi stiddie!!!
hi stid

"he" being the jerk who used the Dane as bait?

is the Dane a puppy?
whew, barb! Not easy to clue!
you did good got it from your second clue
No my friend and her partner. As he does recon missions on puppy farms and I am waiting to here that he gets arrested
that would be a miscarriage of justice, herin
It would but still these scumbags are dangerous people
they certainly are and THEY should be arrested
May I please have a clue for se5-12 the 1st? Thanks.
I mean the dog-fight people
se5/12 is a Jewish Passover meal
It is not those people but the puppy farmers
