yqw... lots of other blank tiles here lol
hey cracker
Missy K isn't grumpy - She's Sleepy! I caught her in mid-blink. She's a very placid kitty who spends 90% of her time lounging on my bed. She site near my head every morning until I get up to feed her & Sparkle - the black alpha kitty.
I was about to say phantom ir7, which goes to show one should check...
Aww cute. My kitties love to poke their furry little faces in mine until i wake up
Hey everyone I talked my sister into joining she is new, her name is Cracker

help with the i in the 4th column for nbt please
Barb you can do my homework if you are that bored
Sometimes it's found in salt
It's element-ary
nyuk nyuk nyuk
not bored in too much pain to sleep...and so very tired but can't get comfortable...but I would give it a go if I could...not promising it would be right though
ty nbt
Barb have you tried accupuncture?
yes...only lasts for maybe 1/2 hour...and at that rate it is too expensive to keep going
:( I would suggest smoking pot but that is sort of illegal (but it does work)
I have even tried something pain point injections...the longest those lasted was maybe 1 1/2...and that was after i endured 45 injections
ouchies
on the pot...I can't allergic..and then if I smoke it how to I explain to my son it isn't ok to do...
we have a neighbour that smokes it all the time and if I happen to open my door when he is out there I can't catch my breath
wasn't thinking of smoking it rather than hash coookies. Studdies have shown that 1 mg a day is excellent pain relief for MS. That is the proper stuff grown clean
are the od 5/12 and 6/21 related? and if so can I get a clue for the 5 please
well I am not that desparate yet...after this weekend though I am getting closer..feel so damn useless
Barbs there is always a light at the end of a tunnel
great...something bit me on my hand and it is now swelling...I just love my life right now...NOT...sorry I shouldn't complain
I am sure that there is a light..I just can't see it yet as it is to far away

Back again -- will I ever get this one done?
interruptions jilli?
Is the Y word a babblet?
Yes, flosey -- MSN
aha
hello jilli
phant -- denizen
hi ruby :)
yi - perhaps jilli, I don't know how to use it to clue
- not outs
ty flosey
yw
perfect clue, lol!
lol
hope the interruption wasn't on my account
oh no, flosey -- why would it be?
oh goody, got the hu8
just due to my change - yet one more time!!
hope this one sticks and don't have to go through that again
what, another one since yesterday?
this is an interesting grid, 83 words very quickly for me!
same name as I use here jilli, that's it
good for you, ruby -- I only have 35
I like the grids with the "builders"
so are we not connected any more?
don't remember if I did it yesterday or today
I sent you an invitation, will do again
but not tonight, will let you get on with babble
well, I'll think about that tomorrow (as Scarlett said)
all of a sudden, I have 2 facebook accounts, with different combinations of my name. Very annoying as I can't access the original one with all the photos etc
These social sites are getting very confusing.
that's what happened to me ruby, in MSN - had to change a few times
why did you have to change this time, flosey?
too many ads and offers; I think it may not be for me although it's lovely to share photos
I was playing lexulous on facebook with a couple of good friends who are in very different time zones, but the animated ads spoiled it for me
for some strange reason, could not get in - and if you try too often, they think someone else is trying to crash your site so freeze it - so I started all over using different address and password
I joined Facebook just to play Lexulous there. I just scroll the ads away
is that why they make me do those distorted code words?
s
What a pain, flo!
an old friend invited me using my old server and that's where the trouble started
Hi Frances
yes, it was jilli but hope it holds this time
hi frances
Hi jilli. I made it - although perhaps not the way intended.
Hello ruby.
What happened, frances?
that blue eye looks all-seeing!
flosey, the MSN was with our friend in Melbourne -- frances was there too but I guess we couldn't have invited you!
no, you wouldn't have been able to jilli, I'll invite you tomorrow with my new address
Was trying to enter a word and the keys stuck.
oh, that was the lone s, I guess, frances?
That was the one jilli.
I still have 4 bt, grrr
can't find the top left S -- help?
nm, got it
aren't those usually spelled with a y?\
got that bottom I too
good, took me too long to figure out which one came from that s
I thought that too ruby.
what's spelled with a Y?
the st words, julli
st words jilli.
I only have one of them
the other is pt
ok, just realised it was a 7, and yes, usually with a Y
stuck on the ir7
my favorite word in this grid is the first di6/30, old-fashioned
it's an element, flo
tks jilli
ty jilli, I was mokeying the ir's but didn't get it
Thanks for that one jilli and flosey.
yw
I need the bottom right R and the I above in the same column -- blind as a bat!
re to give you back your job
the i is angered
Botton R is employ again.

Lurking tagteam fireworks with MetFan. Night all - POOF
thanks, frances, duh to me!
hi pugs, and congratulations
You're welcome jilli.
ty frances for the r
YAY pug/met!!!
did you get the i's jilli or were the clue too awful
My pleasure ruby.
and got the I -- NBT at last!
erred
sorry, I got so excited when I finally found it! pb for me
sorry, ruby -- didn't see your clue (but angered didn't come from that I)
Oh - nbt sort of krept up on me.
oh, sorry again
wtg frances!
. . . . . and I've only got 55 words.
I only have 60
fireworks
with all your help I have 112, but that's probably it for me. See you later
Well done flosey.
yay, flosey!
that was a long haul!
Bye ruby.
YAY flosey!!! You are brilliant!
tyty - but now have a headache! too much concentration
thanks to morewords too
I haven't got to the morewords stage yet -- a 2-hour conversation rather held babbling up
LOL. Me too jilli.
wow, that sure was a lengthy conversation
But it was fun.
good
He is always fun.
how are things going in AUS.
oh, video clips and things too.
he is, such a sweetie
Well, he just got there. It was 3:15 pm there at the beginning, he said.
So pleased that you think so too flosey.
also very helpful with this old lady!!
Frances, did you catch the weird Russian singer?
but I have to get his address again, lost everyone
He's been very helpful with me too.
Yes I did. Was he for real? And they were loving it!
Will do that tomorrow, flosey
but must get to bed now, pool exercise tomorrow morning
see you tomorrow night jilli
yes, thanks jilli
Bye flosey. Sleep well.
Ok, flo
bye bye Frances, and thanks
Frances, I guess he's for real! No accounting for taste!
But he looked so pleased with himself.
yes, really strange -- and there are more clips
Couln't cope with watching more of him. Too afraid that they would have been similar.
I've seen one other. More than enough, and yes, similar. My grandson found him -- don't know how.
Can't begin to imagine what he was looking for to have come accross that.
I must ask him.
Back in a bit. I need tea.
Bye -- I may have gone to bed by the time you get back. Isn't it amazing, having a conversation between three continents?
I'm back but probably all alone. Will try to monkey a few more words...husband brought the groceries! yay
I'm still here, ruby, but not for long
:D
it is so cold here and now everybody is worried about having pruned the roses. local wisdom says not 'til May, but everybody does it the first few warm days!
I know nothing about roses but have to learn -- was just given a lovely one, a floribunda, "Little Darling"
nice!
I know nothing, as this is my first garden, but I'm learning a little every year
I think roses are tougher than they look
So I'm told, but I think it varies with the varieties.
I'm back with a steaming mug of tea.
nice!
Yes it is ruby.
well, 107 found, 82 left, and I've had it. Goodnight/morning all!
sweet dreams, jilli
is it cold there, frances?
Happy babbling, and *poof*
Gosh the biggest bumble bee I've ever seen has just flown throught the door. Must be an inch and a half long - and fat.
noisy too?
Another lovely day ruby. Pretty cold start but is forecast to hot up later.
Yes very noisy. The dog is going mad chasing it.
I love seeing the bees here as I think it shows that the area is making a comeback from all their abuse of ddt
if it ever gets warm enough, I'll have a million tulips, so far around 50 dwarfs
Very pretty ruby. Everything is very late here after the cold winter.
my dogs are too blase! one minds thunder and wind; the other one is only afraid of his food bowl
This dog is quite unusual. He adores thunder and lightening . . . . . and fireworks. You have to go out into the garden with him to watch.
what kind of dog? these hate fireworks
that is very cute! what's his name?
He is a cross Weimaraner and Hungarian Vizsla. Very dark choclate brown and so handsom. I love him to bits.
wounds like a great combination. How big is he?
He is known as Rizla the Vizsla.
sounds* poopy typing, cold hands
hahah
Quite a big dog. About greyhound size but a little bit more muscle on him.
proably very smart....?
the chows weigh about 75 lbs but look big because of their long (nuisance) hair
He runs for about four hours a day in the forest. Not all in one go I hasten to add.
He is the most loving dog I have ever known and very intelligent.
that's amazing. Max sleeps 27 hrs/day. Ruby guards the house and especially me. But neither one is a great walker
He is nearly ten but thinks he is still a puppy.
Riz doesn't do walking - only runing.
I think mixed breed dogs, especially too such fine breeds as Rizla, are smarter than inbred dogs like these. But they, too, are lovable and gentle and gorgeous!
I think chows are beautiful dogs.
two* (poopy typing again, sorry)
Me too running - not runing.
we've had 5 over the years and they have all been beautiful and gentle, but Ruby (in the icon) is the smartest one
She is gorgeous.
runing sounds very Scottish!
Sound like something you do with stones.
I've been trying for a couple of months to change the icon which ata put up in the first place, but even carefully following the instructions, I can't do it.
Aren't runes ancient celtic texts inscribed on stones?
morning all
I'm trying to teach Ruby to count to 8....lol, another dumb project
hello sprite. nice daffs!
It is very easy. Go into 'my account' and click 'edit' under your icon picture.
waiting for your tulips and mine, so far around 50 drawfs, that's all
oh yes, that is what they are called! I say narcises in my profile, lol. Let me correct that.
I've tried it, frances, and everybody has tried to help, but I'm hopeless
they may be narcissus {no idea of sp], I don't know the difference
but it's nice to see spring flowers
how are you feeling?
THEn you have two ways to change. You can either type the address if you know it) of the picture you want and then click 'fetch icon'. Or you can click browse to find a picture that you have on your computer.
that was dwarfs, not drawfs!
no, narcis is the dutch name. My english is sometimes disrupted by dutchisms
believe it or not, I've tried both of those things, even looked for an image on google that was similar, all without success...
HOw strange that it won't work for you ruby.
I get plant names mixed up between English, French and Latin names, so just guess....also, not much experience with gardens, just this one.
Hello sprite. Long time no see. How are you?
yes, it's very strange, Frances, and I have tons of lovely photos I could put in
hey Frances. Going in the right direction, but once again held up by a nasty cold. And how are you?
I think it will work if you do it step by step, rubyfoo. I could tell you the steps one by one if you want.
Hope the cold goes away soon. I'm fine, thank you. Doing my dog sitting stint again. Three weks this time.
I'll make you some hot tea with honey and rum to sort out your cold. You've had a miserable winter, you poor thing!
Even three wEeks. Sticky keys.
ah lovely, I hope you have a good time. thank you rubyfoo, that will do me good, lol. Especially the rum. Yeah, rotten winter. Time for sun, fun and lots of luck.
thank you for the offer, sprite, but fm and others keep giving me the instructions, I keep following them, step-by-step, and then, at the end, nothing happens and I get an error message!
so who do you have besides rizla?
okay rubyfoo
it is embarrassing to be so incompetent at this.
Ruby are you using IE, Firefox, Opera or some other?
I am, however, getting a little bit better at the grids!
just keep trying until you have sorted this out, rubyfoo, and you will be more competent :)
Sometimes changing makes a difference.
IE and I think Firefox is in there someplace. My son is coming in May and he's an "expert", so, in the worst case, he'll sort me out. May be I'll try to change later and, for all I know, frefox isn't even activated for the photos....
once you know the drill, it is pretty simple. But the first time can be daunting.
it would be nice to put in a photo of Max because everybody worried about him when he was sick
and flowers!
I usually use Firefox. Not a great fan of IE. However, some programs wil only work with IE.
well I won't push. If you want help, just let me know.
I'm checking firefox now; I'll probably lose all my words....:(
IE is like all the Microsoft stuff. Full of bugs and nasties, but darn, everything is designed for it.
thank you sprite, I may take you up on that, but I'll give it another show now
No they should still be there.
Exactly sprite. Annoying isn't it?
immensely. You know what they say... Computers are like aeroplanes... NEVER open windows!
OL
I just tried it again with a better photo of Ruby, nothing!
Poor ruby. So frustrating!
I hope your son is able to sort it all out for you. Changing icons is part of the fun here.
or can be if you choose to, anyway. Not everybody does.
I do sprite but not on a regular basis.
yes, you are one of the iconers :) But other people don't participate and that is a valid choice as well.
I like to find unusual icons and stick with them for a while. And tend to go back to those I like.
I just tried it 4 times. The error message is that "the image is only partially uploadeed"
it's just that I chat so much that everybody must be bored with the same photo all the time!
the image is IMG_1501.JPG
I am so angry. I've been watching a TV programme about animal emergency services. A poor greyhound had his ears cut off to get rid of the tattoos that would have identified him. How sick is that?
that is horrible! how could somebody do that?
Ther are some really nasty people out there.
it is so terrible, the things people can do to defenceless animals.
Ruby perhaps your images are too big. Jilli has a program listed in her profile for reducing them.
I saw a program last night about animals rescues; a South African guy has made it his life's mission to rescue animals both in the wild and in zoos. The Baghdad Zoo, was the largest in the middle east and the zookeepers just left the caged animals with no food or water when the war started. Out of 650 animals, only 30 survived by the time this man got there. Really sad story
Maybe that's it, I'll look up here profile next time she's on.
That too is very sad. I just fail to understand how anyone can do such a thing.
if you click on rankings, you can find jillibus' profule
and there were worse things, but I won't even tell you, because it was too sad and awful
You can find her profile by going to rankings. If you type CTRL F and type her username you will find her.
when we think how we love our cats and dogs, it is hard to imagine somebody leaving an animal to starve to death
isn't there a saying that the sophistication of men can be told by the way we treat animals and others weaker than ourselves?
Yes it is hard ruby.
Sounds about right sprite.
not sure if sophistication is the right translation... but you know what I mean?
d
Sorry - sticky key again.
you might want to consider stopping drooling and spilling drinks and chocolate on your keyboard *very straight face*
Very rarely eat chocolate sprite.
I can see why ;)
I'm big enough as it is.
Here's a happier story of how animals were treated during a war. http://tinyurl.com/y724cps
And good morning!
nay, silly Frances, I meant the keyboard. Just kidding.
Good morning Haz
that should have read 'nah'
What a lovely story Haz - and good morning.
Isn't it fun?
LOL sprite.
fun and very sweet, Haz.
I found jilli's site, not if I can just translate it into English, I may be able to do it. Later, though. Hello Haz!
now*
jilli's site and not in english? You are probably lost in cyberspace, rubyfoo. Let me find the link.
http://www.shrinkpictures.com/ is one
http://www.shrinkpictures.com/create-a vatar/ is the other one
Hello, ruby.
I'm at the point where I need a break/should be getting on with housework. Back later!
bye Haz, have fun
oh and in the last link you need to make it into one line, there should not be a break after the create-a and before the vatar... it's avatar
I think my computer's "brain" is in French
trying one more time before lunch; I hope to surprise everybody!
you will be fine
good grid. Nudist and dentist are phantoms. I don't kind the former, hate the latter, but the combination would kill me.
*don't Mind*
what a dreadful thought! Hi Sprite and all
A naked dentist might take your mi4/6 off the pain.
hi lyn :) Am a little bit hyper for trying to act not sick. Will stop now.
oh dear. I apologise. And I trot off to the sin bin.
LOL sprite.
and I'm off to eat dinner BBL
Everybody out of the jacuzzi, I am adding some ethereal oil from some healthy needle tree and I am gonna soak.
enjoy lyn!
Hi everyone.
hello Sally
I thought you were all in the jacuzzi!
At the moment this seems like a wonderful grid.
no way. The jacuzzi is mine. I have claimed it for my health!
lol sprite
it is a great grid. Smooth and yet interesting. Good biggies. Some surprising finds.
Morning everyone! Just popped in for five minutes
hey Nancy Boy, long time no see. Hope you are ok
Brilliant, thanks, Sprite! just got some good news - Leo became an uncle this morning! how are you?
Congrats to Leo NB. Boy or girl?
wooooot congratz! That makes you kind of an uncle too, doesn't it? I 've got a cold, but otherwise I am going in the right direction.
a lovely little girl, Sally! that's what I say, Sprite :) sorry about the cold though...get well soon!
I will :) Oh great, a little girl to spoil rotten.
that's the plan. He phoned me with the news this morning, so today, I'm going shopping!
you're gonna have a ball. Enjoy to the core, Nancy Boy! All the fun and none of the chores, it is wonderful.
in fact, better get up and dressed (lazy...) see you later, all, and thanks for the good wishes!
thanks, Sprite! I'm sooo excited!
bye Jesse *hug* for you, Leo and the little one
yay both 8s busted
yay for sprite! No 8s so far, only 3 7s :-(
I discovered an ending that helped :)
must be off for a while, my girl is home for lunch
bye for now sprite. Did you notice how good I was, I didn't ask :-)
A quick good morning to all. I must leave for work soon.
good morning scrabbler - and everyone else too!
quick question, scrabbler?
Yes, Trif.
in your experience, does a girl with PCOS have a reduced chance of conception issues later in life?
Yes, very common due to amenorrhea--infreq periods and the metabolic syndrome.
I thought perhaps that was the case. bummer.
my friend's daughter has just been diagnosed....
but really, who knows where repro science will be in another 10 years?
Often PCOS is diagnosed BECAUSE of infertility.
thank you for the information. please babble at will now, until you have to leave for real work!!! :)
good morning everyone:)
morning crossy dear!
Hi Crossy
just nailed an 8 right off the bat;))
Must go.
wow, well done you!!!
poor scrabbs;(
scrabbler, I wish you nothing but happy, healthy wellness checks all day...
yes, rosy cheeked kiddies with peas up their nose;)
crossy once shoved a marble up his nose as a child;)
that makes me think of an old cheech and chong routine, crossy....
lol
and crossy monkies a 7!:)
you are on a roll, son!
he7= sounds like being rushed but with the e as the second letter instead of an a
nice! and the second letter in rushed is a U, pet
lol,no tea yet
Humdinger! is a phantom. Hi Trif & Cross
"dier" is a word in theatrical circles..."he is an excellent dier!" "Yes, I enjoyed being in hamlet very much, but some of the cast weren't very good diers, so it slowed down the third act" etc....
st 7=perplexed
an obsure word for me,this dier
"one who dies with aplomb"
morning all, found the hu8 and 2 7's all by myself
lol dying well may be an atribute in life, problem is you can only do it once;)
yaa for peri
hi Peri
as did i peri
LOL crossy!

ty mom
Hi Mom!
Hi {{Lynxxx}}
you are so welcome Crossy
yay nbt
congrats Peri
back. oh dear - stench of unknown origin took over the kitchen whilst we slept. most unpleasant!
back, hi babbler friends
Hi {{Sprite}} that was a quick lunch
wb Trif & Sprite
hello sprite!
Hi Trif
Good morning lynxxx! I meant to say that before, sorry!
out of school at 12.00 and due back at 13.30.
howdy mom
that is a nice lunch break
what do you teach, sprite? all apologies for not knowing already....
I always wished mi** could come home for lunch but that was not allowed even though we lived across the street
so when my girl left I walked the dog... and he did not listen because he fell in love with a bull terrier.
ah how sweet
nothing atm Trif, those are the break times of my daughter's school. She is only 12.
oh, I see - thank you
it is very different he4, one has to make special arrangements and payments to have kids stay over at school. Going home is'normal'.
what do working parents, do sprite???
wow, do they serve a hot lunch?
wow - we are like the States, no leaving the grounds without permission
pay, pay and pay, mostly, Trif. Usually they have to make lots of arrangements. If they must leave for work early, arrangements for before school. Then lunch, which is a different organisation. And then after school. It is nasty.
nope, the children must bring their own lunch. One pays for the supervision.
what time does school get out, then, if the kids are home until 1:30?
amazing
wow.
15.30 is end of school. Start is 08.30. wednesdays is afternoon off, school out at 12.15.
Hello all. Hope all is well...
the schools here offer breakfast and lunch and have a pre=school and an after school program. The after school is program cost money as it is not ran by the school
Hi Red
Is that the same for secondary schools Sprite. Say 12 years and older?
netherlands are a very unkind country for working mums/dads.
hello red! haven't seen you in ages! are you well?
Hi Red
hi red :)
I'm well, having a bunch of job issuse, and a new interview today, which I do not want to go to!
perhaps yes, sprite, but I must say, we in the states DROOL over the maternity leaves most european countries enjoy
how come, Red?
sorry to hear so, red. shall we wish you luck then, or not luck?
new interview for new job Red?
secondary schools mostly don't bother at all. Kids must attend the lessons, of course, but otherwise they can go home by themselves or hang out if the parents allow. We are lucky to have found a school that keeps the children on grounds.
Its complicated. I have applied for 2 jobs in infection control, a new field for me, and I want those, but this is an ED job that I want IF I dont get the infection jobs.... but the infection jobs have not called me back....yet, they havent rejected me....they havent interviewed me....
ouch red, that is rotten :(
that is a good thing Sprite, to keep them on the grounds
sorry, what's ED, red? Emergency department?
oh Red, that is upsetting
What is frustrating is that when you try to talk to the people in the Office they only want to see paper.
yes trif. I should say ER but we are not really a room any more.
thanks red
true, the maternity leaves in europe are often better. We get six to four weeks before birth and six to eigth after, depending on how long before the lady stops working. Max is 12 weeks.
I am glad to be employed. I always am. but this is quite stressful.
thank you for letting me vent a bit.
I was lucky in my job, two weeks before birth 6 weeks after with pay and then up to 6 months with out pay. Luckily, I never went back.
I can imagine, red. Hard to have an interview for a job that you only want if the others don't come through. Maybe trust the way life steers you and go with the flow for now?
red, is your icon a clue for today's grid, please?
No, my icon is Not a clue!!!!
are both the ED job and the ID jobs at the same facility, red?
here all the good jobs are being held onto with clawed hands,4 day weeks, work sharing,so if you do get tossed, you end up getting 2 or 3 of what we call McJobs to fill in the void while you wait for someone in a factory or white collar job to die at their desk and create an opening
thanks red
wow, 6 months, that is long.
No, they are at different place. We will see...
ouch crossy
I hope it works out in your favor, dear one
it was pretty sweet. Most companies are not like that though.
oh Crossy that is rough
very rough
that is what is happening around these parts too, crossy
Get this - in the UK. Qualifying for Statutory Maternity Leave As an 'employee' you have the right to 26 weeks of 'ordinary maternity leave' and 26 weeks of 'additional maternity leave' making one year in total. To qualify for maternity leave, you must tell your employer by the end of the 15th week before the baby is due: * that you are pregnant * the expected week of childbirth * the date you intend to start maternity leave Provided you tell your employer the above, you can take this no matter: * how long you have been with your employer * how many hours you work * how much you are paid
Is that too much or is that to much?
wowwwwww that is wonderful
for instance i run a service station and polish supermarket floors at nights 3 times a week
that is more like it, frances!!!!!
who pays?
Hi Frances, wow, is that all paid time?
hang on - is it paid leave? or just a guaranteed place?
and I heard in sweden or norway things are even better. Like full maternity leave until the child goes to school. Something like that.
Isn't some of that unpaid, though, Frances? (still good though)
much better than here.
LOL sprite, I think it's 18 months....
((((crossy)))) A waste of a good man with a great brain. I hope you will find something better soon, so you can do something more fitting.
lol, here if you miss a day, there are 3 people standing there with resumes and their lunch just ready to do..should thell them im pregnant..lol got the belly for it;)
crossy, what is your chosen profession?
lol ok Trif, still lovely though :)
The money is paid by your employer who then claims it back from the government.
{{Crossy}}
wow crossy, imagine the money you would make on a freak show!
off I go, time to make the breakfast. {{Hugs}} to all of you
trif, you can pretty well slot me into any middle management position, they are all the same after a while, just different product
enjoy, Mom
will do Sprite, see you soon
feh --- we already have the pregnant man here in the US, and he is popping out babies like a pez dispenser
hmmm. will keep my ears open, crossy!
roflol Trif!
lol,on second thought,i do not want to populate the earth
:)
I would be a surrogate for a childless couple in a minute, but sadly, I have been judged as too old. sigh
that freak couple on t,v are going to keep filling up the hospitals with sick babies till she is 70,just to pimp some show,so i better not clog the place anymore
how incredibly unfair, Trif. I hope you had a massive tantrum when they told you.
not so much. I kind of thought that is what they would say, and it was when I was freaking out about money and all. Looks like I will have to focus on breaking into pole dancing for seniors
you would be a good mommy trif;)
and a wonderful child :D
hmmmmz, not a bad idea. You will always be able to outrun them if necessary.
I am a good mommy, crossy, most days. It all started when my friend was given devastating news regarding her ability to bear a child, and I was ready to step up to the plate to help, but was rejected at the jump
my grammy is 99 and sailing is her thing;)
LOL sprite -outrunning the oldies!
she has 2 fake hips, and broke her arm last time out
oh now I get it. Sorry to be so very dense. I thought you meant you were willing to be a surrogate child for a childless couple. Now I understand you would have been willing to bear them a child. *hangs head in shame*
my uncle does the big work on board of course
I love grammies like that. rock on grammy!
wtg on your granny, crossy. Like our jilli. Indestructible and full of life.
oh, I see, sprite! Um, I suppose I could be a surrogate child, that might work. Do bill and melinda gates have kids?
she is a typical welsh grammy,4 foot nothing lol
lol, get in line...
darn I feel stupid for not getting it. But. better late than never, right?
took me a second as well sprite..thats why i started in with my grammy,to catch up lol
just looking over the schedule for today, and realize that I have not given myself enough time to get from point a to point b, and will be wicked late for point b. sigh. why do I think I can fit more in a day than is actually possible?
because you get overwhelmed with things that have to be done... it is called being a mum. Don't I know. LOL.
*orders speed rocket for Trif*
Its just that you are enthusiastic about point a and b trif...
trif, with sceduling, always add ten extra minutes for each session and at the end of the day,if you got everything on time, you will have an hour or 2 just for you!!:)
but I set up my schedule and I should have known better. now I am going to disappoint someone.
OOOH, I like that crossy!
well trif, its early still, why dont you call and make a different arrangement, if at all possible?
so? They will learn to live with it, dear Trif. They will have to disappoint you some time too. No need to be perfect :)
i do that all the time, cause when your in the middle, both sides keep you busy
on your scedule book, actually pencil in the ten minutes after each booking, but leave it blank, that way you can pop im an emergency meeting without blowing your day or leave to to be your free time at the end of the day;))
I think at this point the best option is going to be to stay in the moment when I am in it. I will not spend my time with my 11:00 stressing about how to get to the 12 on time, but will focus on the student and the work, and trust that when I get to the 12, I will get there, safely and well
great practice crossy!
nope, always remember, there is only onbe thing on your desk at one time
thats how the big boys do it
live in the now and not the future
cause you never see the big things coming, big things usually blindside you on some sunny tuesday afternoon while your worrying about the future
lol,ive killed the chog
crossy, you have just written my life story
lol trif
lol I had to take a phone call. Back now.
phone call!? get some priorities there sprite! LOL
wb sprite..was just giving my 2 cents on management time management
true, crossy. One thing at a time. One step, ignore the rest. I am training to do that all the time... still learning!
if you are always worried about the next 3 meetings you will burn out
rofl Trif, indeed! Was about some leaflet my daughter has requested some time ago. About birds in the garden. She will love it.
I get totally overwhelmed. I am learning how to manage time into chunks, which works much better for me. For example, I used to clean the whole house in one 18 marathon day. It "worked" but I would be so burned out at the end of the day it wasn't a good thing. Learning to do an hour here, an hour there. Same for in the garden, cooking, etc. Amazing how we keep learning well into life, isn't it? and thank god! I would hate to stagnate
sorry - "18 hour"
lol,a undusted hallway table never killed anyone
Trif, I totally recognise that! Going on and on and on on will power alone, then break down for lack of energy, and then pushing on and on again.
I must learn to do things in small steps, just like you just said! Glad I am not the only one.
(some great words in the grid today, btw... a rare element and Obelix' favorite toy, lovely)
yup. for instance, yesterday I spent a comfortable hour gardening along the driveway, just removing thorns that had sprung up. Did I finish the whole thing? nope. but I made a good start, and the area I worked in looks very nice, as I wasn't rushed. I also wasn't so burned out that I just left the tools and all in a heap. I cleaned up, dumped the brush I had cut, etc.
sounds so good, Trif. WTG!
What's hard for me to accept is knowing it's not "finished", and what if I don't get back to it for another week, and now it's all one-side-is-okay-but -the-other-one-isn't, and that does bug me
MAN it was hard to write that without using the ti4 word and it's derivatives!
exactly. We are programmed to finish things. It is only good when it is perfect. But it never is. And things are going so much better when we can let go and just do one part without worrying about finishing. Or beating ourselves up for not finishing.
lol
lol always remember,it it really gets to be an issue, you can rot-till the whole mess under, lay down plastic sheeting, fill the whole thing with wood chips and plant plastic flowers lol
oh, I do wear the horsehair shirt with style, sprite!
you too? It is SO good to know I am not the only one.
lolllll crossy!
I can't get the rototiller started, crossy! another thing I gotta figure out. I think I need some of that spray that dries out the carb or something. OH, and I got the pond filter running this weekend, only to find the bottom had cracked during the winter, so now I need a new one. To the tune of $500+
did you remove last years gas from the rott-tiller?
sprite, I think perhaps we are soul mates, you and I! HOW LOVELY to find one!
damn typos
that sucks
was thinking the same thing, Trif!
Did *I* no. It wasn't my job last time it was put away. is there old gas in it? yes.
and LOL crossy, I actually think "rott tiller" is far more descriptive of what it does, given the stuff I put on the garden before I till it!
not good, gas has a 4 month shelf life, after which it goes to the thickness of light syrup, which will gum up your carb and spark plug
ouch! That should be written on the darn machine.
sigh. I am gonna spend the next 19 years of my life cleaning up the mess that man has left in his wake....TOOOOOOL
drain the gas,the gas line.clean the carb best you can, remove the plug and clean end with wd 40 and tooth brush
Okay, will do. thanks, crossy!
how do you drain the gas? will I need a siphon?
no.
you will see a line running from the tank to the carb,it can be drained there
crossy, what are you doing later this afternoon? fancy a quick field trip? LOL
either pull the line from the tank bottm or from the carb
some lines have a petcock just for draining in this line
lol great idea
"petcock" heh
ok do I want to know the meaning of _that_ word??
common trif..mind out of the gutter
oh crossy, dear, be generous.....it's been so long....
can it be a verb?
petcock=small inline valve used for inline redirection of fluids during transfer, usually gasoline
ah! It certainly doesn't sound like that at all.
lol
and the ladies say us guys are bad lol
I am going to have to see if I can find the manual. Something wonderful I have discovered is that a LOT of companies put their manuals on line now, in pdf format. BEST idea ever!
indeed trif
it is! We looked up many of those.
do you plant vegetables and such yourself, crossy? when can you get going with that? I figure I have at least another four weeks before all frost danger has passed
Last weekend in May for us, actually
i was helping a friend with his car and i downloaded the schematic for his engine onto the wifes e-book reader and just took it with me;))
ok, fireflies achieved while walking the gutters with Trif. Having learned my new word for today, I will leave you with love and hugs and I will keep an eye out for petcocks.
we can plant anytime after the queens birthday may 24 lol
LOL sprite! LOVELY to chat with you, and huzzah for the fireflies!
lol sprite
may 24th sound good. I might try some peas and such a good bit earlier, rototiller permitting
how do you write out word
yaa for sprite!
yaa for sprite!
i am clicking on letters and nothing is happening
as I was saying before, this time of year is such a challenge - every where my eyes fall I see something that needs fixed, trimmed, fixed up, neatened up, etc.
you imput words in the add word box located just below the grid
this is not bookworm lol
GLoni, enter the word in the "add word" space directly below the yellw gird
or, the yellow grid even. geesh!
LOL crossy!
beat you to it mtriffy
((((whispers)))) crossy - it looks like a new one is approaching the grid -- set out the chocolate, and get the menacles
fresh fish:)) welcome aboard gloni
Good Morning fellow babblers
morning mom!
howdy mom
crossy, how did you find babble? Aknitter told me about it, and then I told the rest of the coven....
do we have a newbie in our midst
first thing you must know about babble gloni is that that playing babble and real words have very little to do with each other lol
oh trif,i use a program called stumble upon and it found it for me
you are so right crossy
that is how i found it too crossy
hi all
howdy jmc
never heard of that - hmmm - Hi jmc
my son in law told me about the grid
hello everyone
if any of you have yet to try stumble upon, please do! it is a fine program
howdy annie
one of the chatters on wordsplay (now my second favorite game) told me about it
thanks, crossy, wrote it down, will do
but addictive of course
is it something you buy or free online
what isnt addictive - lol
it is free online
just google it
i love stumbleupon
*taking notes*
hi annie
hello jmc and annie!
hi jmc and trif
go doing okay GLONi?
hi annie
hi Momneeds
it gives you a list of topics and subjects and hobbies, you check off the ones you like, then it puts a "stumble" button in your task bar,now when ever you click this button,it will randomly take you to web sites within the parameters you laid out
crossy, sounds like a great site
very much so
my son stumbled up babble too but recognized and quietly tiptoed out
just what I need - one more computer thing to take up my time - my husband will kill me - but we wont tell him will we..
lol
*stumbledupon
will not say a word
its out secret mom
I about FAINTED the day my pastor shook my hand at the end of service and said "i see you have been babbling!" --- and that's how I found out she was a babbler!
lol
you never know who is watchinbg
oh Trif - thats funny
she recognized your babble name?
yup, she did.
well to be fair i use jmcnrick for pretty much every thing too
well, either that or she put it together from what I was chatting about, or something, and I do have Norwell listed in my profile, or did, and she is wicked smaht, so there you go
with the new personal plates available for cars with the extra letters,im thinking about a crosshair or crossy plate
it is practically a second name
what is your real first name, crossy? I just realized, I have NO idea!
Hi All
I think the comment about mannicles scared off the newbie!
morning hego!
my name is paul lol
hi hego
hello hego
could have been the chocolate
paul. nice!!!
Crossy doesn't seem like a Paul
Hey crossy - thats close to mine
*curtsy* please to meet you paul
Hi Annie, how's the new tv?
hmmmm - thinking mom's real name is Paula?
crossy,crosshair,x-hair,krosshair have been computer names for me since the start
mine is J. E. -- really!
Paullette
You got that right Trif- babble experience
is that what people call you?
Really?
Wonderful. I watched the Yankee game yesterday and the picture was very clear.
I mean, do they say the letters out "J E?"
people call me J. E.
most people call me ***hole lol
and I'm J. Lee :-)
that is kind of cool. I know what the J is for, but is the E Elizabeth, like me?
yes they do except occasional telephone solicitors
Great Annie!
okay, then JE it is
Hi Une or J. Lee
cause im the guy who sets yer gas prices lol
CROSSY!!!!
Back. Re how we found babble, I found it because someone calling herself erilar mentioned it on a Mac group. I came, I tried, I was addicted! But I have no idea who erilar is, although I know her first name is Mary.
then they call me Je and I say "Je suis J. E."
hey, Annie :-)
lol
"Morning all! Oooh! Nice time to open Babble!
hi Une
hi nef
morning, JE :-)
howdy nef;)
I heard about Babble in a book!
morning, nef :-)
common in,things are rocking and rolling
Hi Nef
Hi Nef
lol jmcn works too
Good Morning new comners
what book???
The character couldn't sleep, so she got up and played Babble
I don't exactly remember the title.
are you serious?!
ive seen that passage
My real name is Jenny (nef is the middle syllable of my "formal" name; which NO one ever uses (I don't answer to it either)
huh
and i cannot remember the title either
I think it was the pajama Girls of somewhere (town name)
crossy - you just jogged my memory. I went to a di6 in college with a friend who was in an education society for future teachers. It was a student and parent thing. This guy at our table was a COMPLETE ass, and was going on and on about how hard he pushed his son to go to college and become something useful, like a teacher, as "no son of mine was gonna pump gas for a living!" and then he turned to the man next to him and said "I am sure you agree sir! I mean, come on! What do you do for a living" to which the man replied "I own a service station." You could have heard a pin DROP for about the next two full minutes
sounds lik a romance novel
yes, jmc, it was.
lol, without us,everyone else comes to a grinding halt
owning and pumping gas are two different things
my dad worked for Gulf, and my brother words for BP
there are no bad jobs,if you do it well and with pride and support your family, there are no bad jobs
Someone gave it to me and It wasn't really what I like to read, but I found Babble in it.
*works
my daddy was a machinist for Exxon nee Humble Oil
une! my brother works for BP too! maybe we are the same person, and we have never realized it, like in Fight Club!
i read romance novels all the time
that was in TX, right, jmc?
what stress is there in pumping gas - no boss yelling over your shoulder, no mail to open, no phone ringing, beautiful weather, meeting new people......
She had insomnia and took the Babble cure. LOL
trif, LOL!!
i do both jmc,up there there are no lords of the service station who sit and smoke cigars and watch their minions pump gas..cannot afford that
I started when my hubby was dieing so that i could be sure the ending wouldn't depress me
mom, come pump gas in massachusetts, in february, when it is raining and snowing sideways at the same time.
Wish I'd thought of that.
I wanted my son to go to college but I want him to get a job that makes him happy
It was a cute litlle book.
up here owner and wife put in 60 hour weeks, that will let you hire 2 fulltimers and 1 part timer and maybe balance the books
mom you do know that people pumping gas with cigarettes in their hands can blow up gas stations? No stress?
and we do it at 40 below lol
ugh. don't even get me started on sons today, jmc! was totally in love with mine on friday, and FURIOUS with him by sunday....lol
I've always told my kids I didn't care what they did; but they had to find a job they loved. If they did that, the money would follow
She owned a fancy pajama and bed linen store and wore pajamas all the time.
Happens to me all winter here when I pump my own. I am in your neighboring state - we should get together sometime
I am waiting for that to be true, nef, for me, and I really want to believe it is. I do love my job, but so far the money is hiding under a bush somewhere and giggling at me
Crossy, what do you do?
not to mention running your own business means you do not get a regular weekly pay check and cash flow can be a bear
indeed jmc
trif being angry with sons is normal
i have been my own boss for 30 years and love it
once you have done your 60 hours, you get to go home and do the paperwork
I suppose it is, but I would like at least a little consistency, sometimes
yes it is - for me it is usually my daughter I am angry with. They do know it all you know at age 17
my sister worked for the Washington Post and when she first thought retiring to free lance I discouraged her because she did not have the nature to like living on the edge
We had our own business. Company Christmas parties were a little dull.
No calling out sick
because we are talking about a high value product, deposits must be made every day cause you are writing 20 thousand dollar cheques 3 times a week;((
I need to go make breakfast - will check back in a while - have fun
No one to blame stuff on.
consistency is the hobgoblin of petty minds my mother always used to say
Trifi, if you love your job; (to me at least) then it's easy to live within your means. The money doesn't matter.
17 is proving to be tricky....he knows how I feel about x or y, but now he can buy whatever games he wants, or see whatever movies he wants, or buy stuff he knows I don't approve of, and there is naught I can do about it
yup
making deposits doesn't mean making money
mine is 16 trif..i am with you
It will improve Trif.
that is true also jmc
Right jmc
yup
I still grounded my boy at 17
nef, I think my challenge is learning to budget as effectively as I need to. and stuff just keeps BREAKING around here!
i still ground mine
Ah, yes
i learned to live with broken stuff until i had the money
my dishwasher has been broken for a year
lol jmc,you should see my old couch set!
I did ground primo for one afternoon last week.....but if you promise never to tell, my heart wasn't really in it. I only did it because I thought I should do something. I totally saw where he was coming from....
My kids say they weren't allowed off the block after 9 until they could drive. lol
i hope to get it fixed with the money from tax season this year
Trifi, make the kids buy the stuff that they break. And no free money either. It will cut down drastically on their buying things you don't want them too
I just drew dark lines and if he crossed them he knew he was grounded without me even mentioning it
thats what i do,the kid gets 10 dollars a week, assuming he does all his chores
We've all been there Trif.
if he wants a part time job,he can get one
so if he was one minute late on curfew without calling and getting my ok he knew he was not going out the nxt night
Mine always had a job of some kind.
the kids don't really break the stuff, it is just stuff that wears out and breaks
any way the funny thing was when he turned 18 I droppd the curfew and didn't tell him
Good morning all
brb..must steep some tea
When they work and have their own money, you do have less control.
so for like 5 weeks he would come and say -- can I stay out until 4 am and I would say sure
Hiya Boo
so, they still have to learn that money doesn't grow on trees. If somethign breaks and you can't afford to replace it, ask them to
Primo updated his FB status when he was mad at his father -- dropped the F bomb and called him an asshole. I felt I should address his using that language in public, but I also TOTALLY saw where he was coming from. Still, though....
but he finally twigged to the fact and thought it was funny too
Funny jmc
I will have to remember that one, jmc!
Trif even if we all agree that his dad is an asshole, that is no way to talk about him in public -- would you have agreed to it if it had been someone that you were not mad at too?
It's a matter of respect, Trif.
jmc, there were 4 of us girls a year apart in school. We all had to be home at the same time (by 11 PM!) on weekend nights while growing up. We had to sit outside in the winter on the steps in 40 below weather til the last one got there; It made all of us get in on time
I am worried that he will have to move back in this summer *sends payers to the housing gods*
no, not at all, which is why I grounded him, and gave him a STERN lecture on public persona and how to behave on the web.
i bet nef
Nef, your parents are BRILLIANT
Strict parents, Nef
okay I have a ton of work to do and want to get nbt sooooo as much as i enjoying chatting
*dives into grid*
Bye All, off to do some work.
bye friends
It was my Aunt and Uncle (they raised the 5 of us -had 1 of their own- after my mom died)
Good Morning all. How are "We"?
*pokes head out of grid* hi red
hi red. I'm not sure, but it looks like most everyone just left!
Ahhh They call me chat killer.
Nef, can I ask some job seeking advice?
LOL! THAT I doubt! :-D
sure
i am here
So. The ER that is 2 miles form my house finally called. they want to reinterview me for a 3-3 position. I will take it, but only if I can not get an infection control job. THe infection control jobs have not rejected, or called yet.
oh, jmc. I thought you left too. I see you're just working the grid
Would it be wrong to email the one that I have an email for, and call the other....ostentasiously to inform them that I will be getting my certificate in Public health and also to mention that I have this other interview?
actually i was going to suggest that you contact them after the interview and tell them you need to commit within x hours/days and need them to tell you something as you prefer to work with them
I'd definitely go for the interview at the ER; but schedule it for -the end of next week or so?
but by all means mention the Public Health Certificate
So not pushy?
that is a good idea too nef
Oh no, its today. they scheduled it for me.
and then --I see jmc types faster thwen me. :-)
a little nudgy rather than pushy
you can tell them you can't decide about the ER job at this time too
hmmm well then at the interview get then to give you a couple of days to decide
yes, thats what I am going to have to do. It is very difficult to speak to someone in HR at these hospitals.
because you have another offer pending
AND it's not pushy at all. Just be up front with all of them (including the ER job) that you are waiting to make a decision til next week
don't make it sound like you are indecisive but that there is so much available for you that you want to make the best choice
okay i really gotta go get some work done
I really thought they weren't going to call from this ED, because it has been such a hassle with the manager, but....
no nbt for me
yup,if several places are after you,do not be afraid to let them know it
good luck red
that's right. (It may increase the amount of $$ they offer if they really want you too)
sorry jmc.
clue for de6/24
Its such a wierd market these days anyway.
Well, I am off to pen a grammatically correct spell checked email.
sorry, Boo. I don't have it
Thank you all!!!!
read it out loud red spell check doesn't catch every thing
*poof*
it IS a weird market, red. But think of yourself as a necessary commodity and don't jump at the first offer
boo, de 6/24 is plural of de 5/14
TY all... will let you know perhaps the ED wont even offer, which would be a blow to my ego!
must be tough being popular lol
Good morning all
don't let that deflate your ego, red. You WANT OUT of the ER!
howdy bob
hi
Hi Mr Bob
these d's are hard
This grid is hard this morning. I need coffee to see the words I think. BRB
brekkies,lunch,di****

np ;)
Afternoon all :) just back from shopping!
hi NB
howdy nb
(and I didn't even get anything for me!)
hi, Nef!
so did you buy anything besides groceries?
wasn't even groceries, Nef - Leo's little niece was born this morning! And I decided to start spoiling her as soon as possible
Oh, my! What did you buy her?
not small,or large but me****
that one winds upon itself, just spotted it;)
wow, cross; very good! I've never seen that word in a grid before!
well I was looking around Oxford Street and I found the most adorable little cashmere bunny. And it was so cute and soft I couldn't leave it there. Also, clothes, because even babies must be stylin' ;)
NB, just a hint: don't buy any newborn sized clothes, They outgrow those in a week. (6 months to a year are better sizes)
lol, want to help mom? lots of one piece sleepers and spit up blankets;)
and some of those hooded bath towels for babbies
The bunny sound nice
Oh, and cases of diapers too! :-D
lots of diapers
and zinc-o-fax..penetan we found was too rough
LOL. Thanks, you two ;) Leo texted me a picture, she is sooo adorable!
how big is she, NB?
mint
OOPS! Sorry
and at 3 months, send them a case of gripe water lol
i keep trying to imput french for tushie lol
LOL! 50 words into the grid, I have 15 6 letter words and just got my first 7 letter word! I would have thought I had more than that by now!
doing fine nef;)
7 pounds three ounces! The tiniest thing I've ever seen. And I think she's gonna have her uncle's brown hair and green eyes!
same here, crossy. It doesn't work
sorry. I'm so excited :D
hu 8=moisture content in a room
he 7= being rushed along
That's a nice little baby! My grandson was 7 pounds 11 oz and I thought he was tiny; but both of my own kids were 9 pounders! :-)
he 8=when you get a trait from the parents
my boy was 7 pounds 7 oz
now he is a 160 pound bundle of evil
thanks, crossy!
LOL Crossy! how old is he now?
;)
16
well I remember sixteen as a particularly evil age ;)
right now it is a toss up of if he will be wearing a uniform for his country or black and white stripes lol
LOL crossy, mine too. One long tall string pole of p.i.t.a. teen ager!
My son started out at 9 pounds 12 oz; then slid off the bottom of the growth chart by the time he was 5. He was a skinny guy until he got this job about 4-5 years ago. He's 6'1", 250 and 30 yrs old now
lol kc
LOL!
(I'm so glad we outgrew those years)
i just wish he would move out and get a house and a job while he still knows everything lol
I'll have to get out the calculator - all these measurements in pounds mean nothing to me! :)
LOL yeah, boys can be a... challenge. At least his hair isn't BLUE anymore!
lol
we told him he can do whatever he likes with his hair but no tats or body shrapnel till he is on his own
kc, just remember whatever they do to their hair will grow out. Tattoos don't
same here, crossy. I told both kids that tattoos weren't welcome on them in my house. So my sone married a girl with tattoos <roll eyes!>
i can bring any hairstyle down to a nice army hair cut with 6 swipes of my sheep clippers;))
hmmm...I got my tattoo when I was eighteen. And hid it from my parents for a year ;)
lol
actually, my son looked very good as a blonde! (dark brown eyes and olive complexion
i told my kid to get a nice big tattoo of his thumbpring on his forearm..make it easier for the cops lol
thumbprint
NB, if you could hide it, that's one thing.
DIL has a full sleeve tattoo now
each to their own i suppose
yeah, I had to wear long shirts for a year and avoid stretching upwards ;)
(they are getting a divorce.)
well so much for the painted lady
ohh feeling fine mama, painted ladies and a bottle of wine mama...lalala
oooh I couldn't get a full sleeve. All those bones and joints to go over!
She isn't a nice person, crossy. I'll leave it at that
she took my money like i knew she would..la la laaaa la la
Part of my tattoo goes over my hip...that was the most painful bit. When I let go of Leo's hand after that bit, his fingers were dead white!
ouch, NB! What is your tattoo of?
it's a lion ("leo", geddit?) ...got it on my 18th birthday. Just black, no colours - black goes with everything ;)
helloooo
how big is it?
hi Ata
hi, Ata!
Hi, Ata.
howdy ata
it's not huge, Nef! If I make an L with my index finger and thumb, it's about that long. Starts just below the hip - I was gonna put a picture on here, but I couldn't get an angle that wasn't explicit ;)
It's almost time to take my DH to the dentist, so I'd better get busy here.
crossy hold up finger hex for the dentist!
crossy has dentist phobia, whenever i need work they have to drug me;((
OH! Well, when you said you had to wear long sleeves and not stretch, I was imagining it was from your hip to your wrist! ;-)
what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, Crossy ;)
poor crossy
Just lie back and think of bacon, crossy.
lol, without drugs ,i almost killed the last dentist ;0
some huge tattoos *can* look beautiful, Nef ;)
crossy, you sound like my dtr. I swear, between DH and the kids, we've spent a fortune on teeth over the years
clue for the di 4/10
LOL Nef! oh no no no! I had to wear long shirts just so it couldn't be visible if I leant back or anything.
Do you have any, Ata? I'm not sure if I think mine is gorgeous because of the design or meaning ;)
hi all.... Hey stidmere is in the puzzle today!
di plus first two letters of russian ruler (one spelling)
I know, Ata. I've just seen too many older patients who regretted getting tattoos in their youth. I told my kids not to get any because IF they ever do get a tattoo, I want them to know it's forever and never regret it
best tat i ver saw was on this stripper,it was a python and it started with the tail at her left ankle, and it wrapped aroung her thigh, round her waist and ended up with the head hanging down just at her belly button with the tongue extended downwards;)))
no, I don't - yet. But I've designed a good few and seen them look amazing. One day I'm going to get a peacock feather thingy round my left wrist
oh yes, Nef, absolutely! It has to be something meaningful and about your life. Random "I want a tattoo" rarely are good things!
you design them? that's so cool! I just love looking at mine. I like feeling like a human canvas! But because it's not often displayed to the public, it feels really personal, as well
that is my objection, Ata. My kids are both ADHD; and I could imagine them doing something *really* foolish on a whim. Thank goodness they knew I was serious about the tats when they were teens!
my boy is also adhd nef,so i had to lay down the rules eary
http://www.marquista.com/gal_marques.h tml - gosh I need to update that page!!
personal tats I understand. I don't understand people who get tats on their back "to re6/24 them" of something or someone. They never see their back; everyone else does! Gott run! BBL!
but alas mmuch of his current issues still involve only thinking for the moment
LOL Nef! see you later :)
ohhhhh Ata...they're so detailed!
pretty, aren't they? I only really do personal commissions, people have to persuade me they really want a tattoo for a good reason. I like good reasons. They are easier toplay with!
quite! plus, getting a good reason is very responsible of you ;)
isn't it just :P
help with the top de5/14pls
it's really just pride. If you're going to have my art on your body, you'd better like it forever :P
I have the blue one
de + baseball equipment
LOL, Ata! Leo has my real, Korean name in it's real, Korean characters tattooed over his heart. Soppy, but my vengeance if he ever breaks up with me! ;)
awwwww that's sweet! and absolutely! LOL
Ata... love the Kushiel work you did.
ooo someone knows Kushiel! how cool!
awesome series... somewhat uncomfortable at times but such a metaphor for life and love.
on that note, though, I'd better be off to work. Long day today - working in the pub until 8pm and then in the club from 9pm-3am! will feed on energy drinks first. Later, all!
bye NB!
ty ruru
yes, very uncomfortable at times. There's still a few pages I don't read. But so beautiful. And I just adore Joscelin.
Jacq's got a short story out soon about Anafiel Delaunay's relationship with his prince. *That* will be wonderful.
89 left... bbl to hopefully finish! and I agree regarding Joscilin. but there is definitely something intriguing about Phèdre. OMG really??? I must read it when its out!
de 6/21 anyone?
yep yep! trying to remember what the book's called
have yiou read Naamah's Kiss?
""You and You Alone" is a return to the Kushiel universe and is the awaited love story of Anafiel Delauney and Rolande de la Courcel. This will appear in Songs of Love and Death, edited by George RR Martin (2010)"

Hey Vi!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol yes I guess so :)
What news, in addition to too much work in front of the screen?
Hi, just coming on and seeing lots of friends from England. Hooray.
Umm weather is spring like, garden is burgeoning and all is well with the world in this neck of the woods.
Hello, Stidgmere.
Splendid, splendid, FM! =D
stidmere - greetings!
hello all i missed FM, Vicuna, Stidg
FM!!!
Hi, vic, skies are grey, grass is really green, tulips and daffies are in bloom. I'm in the house doing loads of washing.
Hello, Barb's Horses.
you are right crossy...hobby farms are alot of work...mind you so are alot of pets :)
Ata!!!!! where have you been, haven't seen you for ages! Hi Barb
Noticed about dogs barking. We have a nice little yellow lab that spends his days barking. I am very tolerant but I am finding there is a limit.
2 secs - phone
yes I agree stidg..and have you ever notice how they have to get the last ...word(bark) in?
I must run having lunch with mom...back in a bit I guess. Happy babbling all
Yes, dogs also roll their eyes whcih is just quietly disagreeing. I do love dogs. Bye barb.
Goodbye, Barb's. Enjoy your lunch.
Vi how are the ToG?
Any more trips planned stidmere?
Very well, thanks, FM. Exuding Glory wherever they go, of course. Like big gleaming glorious slugs or something. ;)
LOL Vi!
Daughter fancies herself a warrior cat and has taken to stalking me, trying to see how close she can get before I notice. Much to her disappointment, I am sharp-eyed.
oh how funny.
how old are they now?
Actually planning a trip to Montreal and Quebec City end of April/beginning of May. Never been there and they need a chance to hear my amazing French.
7.75, give or take
gosh they are growing up fast!
stidmere are you going to be able to meet up with any babblers whilst on the trip which sounds great.
Yep, second grade will soon be winding down. HAve you been taking advantage of the permission to plant in the garden there? Or too busy?
I don't know any Babblers in that area. The Canadian Babblers are all BC that I know. Of course, I would love to say hello or bon jour to any Babblers who are available.
quebec = oodle!!!!
Oddle, haven't seen on the chat for ages. You're right Atalante, last he spoke he was in Quebec.
Yes, does anyone know where oodle went off to?
i am in ontario stid, pop on over anytime
Hello, Annieb.
and hello everyone
Vi going to the garden centre tomorrow to buy some more things - am taking it slowly as I am watching what is coming up already. Hey Annie!
Hi Vicuna, FM, Stidgemere
Fun fun, FM. But yes, you don't want to ruin something that's already there in your eagerness to dig in.
:)
Hi Annie. Oh, Crossy, our plane tickets are Toronto coming and going. I think Ontario deserves a road trip. I love driving but need the wide open spaces to be flood-free.
right. mother off phone
Lovely to chat but my 5 min braek has gone and I must get back to work :( TTFN and Happy Babbling.
Hi Atalante
lol, last i checked the road from toronto to here is all clear lol,too bad it will just be a pit stop;((
bye ((FM))
Aww... Well, farewell, Fm. See you later.
been quiet cos got bitten by a dog on my hand and it hurts. and D been being a complete idiot and inviting someone over for the weekend that I really disliked. So I told him to uninvite her. He said she was more important. So I buggered off for a few days
tc fm
Can anyone suggest a flower for a windy spot? I know impatiens do well...any others?
Well, what we don't see this time (Toronto, Ontario) we'll try to get next.
OMG Ata! Will have to catch up with you v soon! *poof*
Oh Atalante!

Poor Ata. =(
the wife and i NEVER invite anyone until we check with each other,or its ww3
((((Atalante)))))
I would think any of the shorter daylilies would do fine. They can handle pretty much anything.
I went up to my sister's for the weekend. Which wasn't a great idea cos my hand was really too hurt to drive all weekend!
Thanks Vicuna, I put that on my list.
crossy takes ata,s poor hand and gives it a victorian style kiss on the boo boo
Ata, Did you see the doctor?
I hope your hand isn't infected Ata. Did you have it checked out?
Ata, You might need an antibiotic.
awwwww ty crossy! yes, annie, but they said it was ok. I'd already cleaned it well etc etc, and they just said to keep an eye on it
and has the dog had its shots?
and it's not got infected yet! yay!
yes, it was a friend's dog. perfectly looked after, healthy. and I've got up to date tetanus shots. so it was all ok. just painful!
Ata, That's good sign, no infection. But I am sure you are keeping an eye on it. Rotten luck on both counts.
Well, at least no complications. Still no fun.
TIme to go meet the Offspring on their way home from school. Back in a bit.
what breed of dog?
Later, Vicuna
oh, she is the most gorgeous little thing! Brindle Staffie. She and Hobbit are best buddies, but for some reason, they just had a bust up and I stopped it. 2 minutes later they were asleep curled up together *facepalm*
hin e
never heard of the type..a yappy ankle biter sort of thing?

Hi All again - clue for the first re6/21 please
ahh ok,a fighting dog cross breed
well ... staffies arent fighting dogs at all
ive not kept up on the mixed breeds, crossy is bad for that.years ago raised pure bred shepards.boy! were they a pain!
either smart as a whip,or dumb as a post, there was no middle ground
Although individual differences in personality exist, common traits exist throughout the Staffords. Due to its breeding, the modern dog is known for its character of indomitable courage, high intelligence, and tenacity. This, coupled with its affection for its friends (and children in particular), its off-duty quietness and trustworthy stability, make it a foremost all-purpose dog [1]. It has been said that "No breed is more loving with its family"[3] Because of their affinity for children, Staffordshire Bull Terriers are sometimes known as “Nanny Dogs†in England[4]. The breed is naturally muscular and may appear intimidating; however, because of their natural fondness for people[citation needed], most Staffords are temperamentally ill-suited for guard or attack-dog training.
ahh ok,ty ata
I had to look cos I suddenly wondered how all the bull terriers were related
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier (informally: Staffie, Stafford, Staffross, Staffy or Staff) is a medium-sized, short-coated, old-time breed of dog, originally bred for bull baiting[1]. In the early part of the twentieth century, the breed gained respectability, and it was accepted by the The Kennel Club of the United Kingdom as the Staffordshire bull terrier. It is an English breed of dog related to the bull terrier and similar in appearance to the much larger American Staffordshire terrier and American pit bull terrier.
shepherds are gorgeous but so goofy!
we had one that used to chew on stones and break his teeth
doh!!
Must have mistaken your hand for something dangerous.
Too many cancellations at work- BABBLE TIME!
it is always babble time kaplan!
I know, but really.
Too many mis on this grid. I don't know that many words!!!
oh it was my fault really. Belle and Hobbit were fighting, it was just easier to hoick Hobbit out of there. I knew what would happen! Easier though than ending up with a huge vet bill and hurt doggies!
The best dog (IMHO) is a mutt.
the best dog is the dog for you, whatever that dog may be
m debating pet insurance,my company is offering it as a rider policy off of the house ins.140 per year per pet
true ATA....the more people I know, the better I like my dog!
pet insurance is a godsend
and Fireworks!
people ask me if I get lonely cos I spend my day here with Hobbit and hardly ever talk to random people. I just laugh. I'd rather spend time with Hobbit than 99% of people!
though there is a maximum of 6000 for the life of the policy,so basically a 1 shot deal to cover a single major event, not to be used for nail clipping or shots or that sort of thing
yaa for merk!
yes, really it's there for that 1 or 2 times where you simply couldn't afford a sudden $10,000 vet bill
horray for Merk
ty ... bbl and hopefully tomorrow, too
indeed, our monkey kitty cost 1400 dollars and we still had to put her to sleep
Good for your fireworks Merk!!
if you can afford the insurance premia, I personally think it's worth it. It's the reassurance that pets will get the best treatment in serious cases without you having to worry about cost issues
i think i shall ata
$10,000....I love my dog (GD) something fierce, but wow!
adds up fast jm
good afternoon, I have returned from Big interview monday.
a single exam and x-ray and blood cost 900
how did it go red?
how did it go red
snap
I think I've probably got about the value of insurance premia back for Hobbit over her 8 years of life. I've claimed a few times, but we don't have a policy limit. Silverclaw - I've never had to claim for her, yet!
Much better than expected, was offerred the job. I just have the sticky problem of the other two more preferred applications out there floating.
ick, tricky
a bird in the hand....
congrats on that offer - one step at a time
My vet must be working cheap....
I just told her I had another interview. and she said, just to remember how close my house is to her hospital!
hush up JM - he might be a babbler
there is that if there is a choiuce tween a 2 min drive and a 30 min drive
My vet has always letme pay big bills offover time. When Teulu was neutered, he had an unfortunate episode as the vet forgot to tie off a vessel, so she swelled up like a watermelon.

oops
Hope he didnt charge you for his mistake
clue for hu6/27 please
Well, they tried to tell me that it just sometimes happens. He had to go back to surgery to tie it off, so I did end up paying some. But it iwasnt that much and I did it over time.

hopefully I will be here to enjoy grandparenthood. My kids still way to young at 17 and 13.. Its funny that my high school friends have grandkids older than my kids.
i have a couple of friends with grandchildren, but they started when we were in highschool :/
I have a friend, about 8 years older than me who has a great grandchild.. I feel I'm at about the right age. I still have lots of energy
luck to both of us then. I got run now - enjoy the rest of your day - happy babbling
I would love them but the one that could shouldn't yet, and my daughter is verrrrrry picky after several less than ideal relationships so god only knows when it will occur

ty dipp--had to google that!
crossy,s back..this quiet shall cease!
let the madness and insanity begin;))
hello crossy
howdy westford
Let the baconfest begin!!! Hi again crossy and hello westie. Have finally finished work but as it is 10.19pm don't think I will be around for too long.
did i tell you fm,i laid in a supply of applewood smoked bacon with a dash of sea salt
No you didn't and that sounds very tasty, would love to sample a bit, can't really imagine howit would taste.
hi FM hope you didn't work too hard today
crossy, I can almost smell it cooking
Long day today westie 11 hours but got lots done so can't complain :)
tried it for the first time yesterday..is incredible!
and babble is a good way to unwind
poor fm:(
oh shut up crossy you are making me drool all over the keyboard.
do you slice your own crossy?
ooh FM you were right Spring is finally here
nope, but i had a farmer smoke it for me
Glad to hear it has arrived for you too westie.
and used mediterranian sea salt
crossy you know how to do it right
oh locally sourced and produced products are soooooo good.
I don't mind paying a little extra for the right produce esp if it is local.
we'll be going up to Maine next month and I can't wait for the farm stands
when it comes to good eats,i do not scrimp
and local grown, local bought is always best
We have a Farmers Market once a month in the village but the prices are rather too steep.
we have one of those 100 mile produce stores also,it is a co-op and anyone can bring their veggies
our daughter belongs to a co-op she and her husband are both vegetarians so it's wonderful for them
That sounds interesting crossy - we have nothing like that over here.
crossy imagine tofu bacon? lol
they still eat seafood though so there's hope
*grin* westie
Good Evening all. Soy bacon is the pits.
they're both healthier than sin Tom is competing in an Iron Man triathalon in May
Hi red nice to see you here
how are you Westford?
wow that is quite a feat, good luck to him westie. Hi red.
I made Tres Leche for Easter but it was tres soggy..delicious though
dont you hate those super healthy people? lol
Dear Babbler recently someone posted a meatloaf recepiemade with stovetop stuffing,i would like to make it but dont remember all the ingredients.can some one help?
oooooh Westford, thats one of my favorites. Tres Lenches, mmmm.
I really do lol
that was crossy and I have made it it's wonderful
Hi everyone
hello brook
Hi Yvo and Brookie
and hi Yvo too
hi west and fm!
that was me;)
give me a sec....
can you help me with it please
is anyone finding this grid to be a bit tricky. seems to be taking me longer than normal.
raises hand
it seems boggy now
i seem to be at a standstill with 76 words left
yes each time I see a word it seems easy but then...
hi, new here, could someone please tell me what Tile Stats mean?
I have 69.
hi toni
hello
Welcome TOni. the stats show how many words coem from each letter on the grid.
Time for me to go, 11 hours of spreadsheets has done my eyes in and although I would love to stay and chat I must stop staring at this screen! Happy Babbling and see you on the morrow I hope.
err come.
bye fm!
oh, thank you turtle
the stats reflect the grid the number on the left is the word/s you have found; the number on the right are the total words to find for that letter
bye FM, hpe your eyes feel better.
thank you westford
toni, there is a help box also above the chat box, it has information.
bye FM have a relaxing night
bye FM have agood night
toni when we have a least one word from each tile stat we say NBT..No Blank Tiles
cool
2 pounds of lean ground beef,2 eggs,1 box of stove top stuffing 1/8 cup of milk, diced onions if desired...take the 2 eggs and beat with the milk and add to hamburger in a large bowl, then add DRY stuffing mixture and mix well, add onions and spices at this point if desired..place mixture in ungreased bread pan and bake on middle rack at 350 f for 1 mhour or until loaf start to pull away from side of pan
darn typos
wife is obsessing over picture frames and distracting me
crossy it was super simple to prepare
and made yummy meatloaf sandwiches for later
i love meatloaf. only i'm mostly vegetarian now so i never make it anymore :(
sould could make some with tofu, hursh, but it probably wouldnt do it justice.
ugh
we do red meat sparingly but sometimes those animal instincts just kick in lol
it is the easiest meatloaf ever, and usually there are no leftovers
i don't generally understand the idea of trying to be vegetarian by making substitutes for existing carnivore meals (like veggie burgers...). i would much rather have a nice salad or pasta with veggies.
Thank you kindly i copied and send it to myself, thank you so much crossy.im sure it will taste super
i like tofu, but...I prefer it not to pretend to be meat.
I really love vegetarian sausage.
let me know how it turns out yvo;))
that said, i am pleased to have recently found a "ham-like" substance made from soy that is definitely good with eggs on toast.
now you can use either the cornbread or the sage stuffing
what's it called hursh will tell my daughter
my indian friend seems to use chick peas for everything when there is a protein craving
i will ,always looking for something new
Smart Deli vegetarian protein slices - also comes in roast turkey, pepperoni, and bologna - got it at stop & shop.
mmm hummus
that and oily hot sauces and lots of naan bread to dip in things
Quinoa is the best grain for protein.
i do find chickpeas useful.
thanks hurshy I will let her know..don't know if they have Stop & Shop in CA
and it has a nice tasty crunchiness.
ah, and here i was figuring she lived around here and so it would actually be handy that i had got it there!
ugh. i wanted a sugar daddy but they didn't seem to have any so i got sugar babies and MAN are they not as good.
do they still make those? or are you talking about a rich, old man lol
definitely the candy! rich old man would be even grosser!
I'm going to scramble it into some eggs and spinach tonight.
lol hurshy
last year i said something in a meeting, where a young gold digger was being discussed, to the effect that when there was that big an age gap, you could guarantee that it wasn't legitimate attraction. EVERY man in the room was like, "i don't know about that" (and most of them were over 65).
Hi all...I have a funny regarding cougars
WEll, I've definitely dated some much older men.
they just WANT to believe it's possible for a 20 year old woman to find them attractive. such self-delusion.
but 20's dating 70's, red??
but I wasnt really after any cash, which may be what makes the difference.
nah, but in my 30's I did date some guys who were Grandpas.
I'm married to one
oh wait, I am still in my thirties for about of 3 months.
Recently my sons neighbor became separated, he is about 45. Their other neighbor told him he knew a rich 50 year old, a cougar he should meet. sons neighbor said, cougar for me would be about 70!
my dad became a grandpa at age 54 so that doesn't have to be that bad, red!
It was a bigger age difference than I imagined, but we are still very close.
good story sea..I wish I were 50 again lol
you're married to one what, west?
to a grandpa
it was very funny coming from him westie
but if YOU are over 50 as your last post indicates then that is not weird!
our oldest granddaughter will be 23 next Friday and he's 66 so he did start early
I know hursh it just seems odd to think I'd ever be married to one
is it weird to have worked your abs hard enough that you feel the soreness in them when you cough?
time to make dinner bbl
sounds like you did some serious exercising
nah, i'm so out of shape it doesn't take much to overwork my muscles. it's like they are being brought out of a coma, with amnesia, going, "what... what's going on? who am i? where did i come from?"
good that you're making them work
lol,i break a sweat when i comb my hair
it's the Wii Fit! i love it!
we keep promising ourselves to get that
looks like a lot of fun
we got the jenny ncarthy fitness program for the wii
i may owe all my future health to nintendo. i have never before found any way to exercise that i really felt like i could enjoy and therefore actually keep up with.
and it's all done in the privacy of your own home which is such a plus
yes!
comes with a camera, and put you on the screen
i don't think i'm allowed to like jenny mccarthy.
I've seen that one crossy do you like it?
wife is just starting it now,but it is amazing and hands free,no controller or anything
why is that hurshy?
hello all, help with di6/24 pls
oh, because of the role she's played in spreading some misinformation about autism
di6 made a lot of noise
I thought that might be why
ty hursh
ty from me as well
you know me too well
which is weird considering we only know each other online!
* * fireworks * *
she is just pimping the program,i form my own opinion about things they just wanted a pretty face on the box
not at all I feel I know some babblers as well or more than I know off line people
hi jilli and Yay !!
I was going to say 'real' people lol
if they wanted a pretty face, they should have used my mitty kitty.
I know what you mean, west -- we tend to pour our hearts out here.
Hi all!
lol,you people know more about me that the live people i work and play with(other than the mrs) lol
and share the good stuff too jilli
well, that too -- sometimes the hearts are full of good stuff ;)
if we could only get world leaders to play babble things would be so much better
Hmmmm...
maybe... but i'd be more inclined to prescribe daily doses of mr. rogers for world leaders.
he was a class act
If only I could get my family to play babble we might get to know each other better.
I have a sexist story to tell..I was reading an interview with Clinton about nuclear disarmament and was halfway through before I realized it was Hilary and not Bill
They are so incommunicado!
oh, for shame!
here's my sexist story... whenever i see a driver do something stupid or rude on the road, i assume it's a man.
same here jilli I tried Face Book and it was too open for this grandma
you'd be right hurshy lol
Same sort of thing the other day here -- was talking about a techi coming for my computer and the person I was talking to said he hope he was a good one, but the techie was a she.
all fights between countries should be solved with chess tournaments;)
The Russians would win everything
yeah that'd be great - you lose, now you have to be communists
only if the vodka is free
i don't drink
west, I don't find facebook too open
I have visions of my granddaughters being proper young ladies and when I read their posts ...
I was refused "friend"ship by my ganddaughter's boyfriend, for whom I've bought dinner and presents and have known for years.
so I'll keep my fantasies
now that is ridiculous..
My gd doesn't post much anyway.
but one doesn't want one's grandparents or girlfriend's grandparents reading all one's thoughts!
i am very annoyed that i have my mom and grandpa as facebook friends. i like them, i just don't want to be facebook friends with them.
Well, it depends what you use FB for, I guess.
but i couldn't say no. :P
they're just there in black and white
my son is forbidden FB or twitter
I don't post much either
Well, hursh, just so you know, you can make posts that go to all your friends except Mom ad Grandpa.
you read one post and then you're in for the rest of the day..took too much time
my grandkids are adults, ages 25 and 31
yeah but then my mom goes, "how come kristen said she read something on your facebook wall and i can't see it?"
My Mom is my Facebook friend, but...I block some things.
Easy enough Hursh, "Gee Mom dont know...sometimes face book has glitches!
my mom was a computer programmer in the days when you had to actually feed punch cards into the machine - she's not one of those un-tech-savvy moms - wouldn't fall for it.
I joined FB for Lexulous, which reminds me -- I must go and have a look to see if it's my turn
My Mom does, and she is very computer savvy, makes web sites etc.
I remember those cards..used to do a lot of crafts with them lol
is your mom also paranoid and suspicious?
a little bit hursh, she dissects many of my posts.
my mom is so p. & s. that she once thought a saleswoman was purposely screwing with me by advising me to get a larger size of a dress - even though they make the dresses when you order them and the sizes cost the same so there was no possible motivation for her to steer me wrong
i dislike having her as my friend, but what can one do? I tried to ifnore her request...
lol,way to fix that is set her up and put something in there wild a crazy:)
she'd be on the next plane crossy
when i m-i-l used to read my wifes diary as a teen, she got back on her by writing in that she was pregnant by some drummer in a band, and they both agree that smoking week is natural and good for the baby lol
weed
oh brother !!
ha
i tried posting about how i hate the yankees and all kinds of things that she would dislike, but it didn't work, she thought it was funny.
name that proper noun! dame helen
I tried her
mirren

but you didn't say the answer :)
oh
I'll just share owl's dings then

That was me on Saturday----ugh!
wonder what's wrong with me? I think it could simply be anxiety.
If fever, aches, chills + diarrhea---virus. If anxiety hits you this way then maybe that is issue.
sweating/cold (never took temp), stomach cramps, heaving (sorry guys)
reminds me,how you feeling scwabby?
crossy, was it you?
poor science;/
I am better, Cross.
me what?
Did you post that recipe for the crescent roll cream cheese thing?
Other than returning to classroom today after a break, any reason for anxiety?
nope, thats not mine, last one i did was my famouse chicken cordon blue lol and it is still in my profile
That was awesome. I only made a half and had to give ot away.
working on some new jewelry and worrying about festivals and such. DH is going to Saudi during my busy time.
scrabs, glad tohear you are feeling better
also, one of my colleagures broke her hip and they gave me her classes - more preps - and I am not a marine biologist!
Does anxiety hit you this way ever, SG?
Hi Owl. Yes, Friday + Saturday were awful days for me.
yes
used to take klonopin
OK, talk back to that Worry Voice right now. Scare it off. And for Marine Biology you can only do the best that you can do at this time, and let the students know that.
Crossy, I am trying Google Chrome on my PC here. Keeping FF 3.5 on my netbook.
later, all
sometimes it gets the best of me. i also worked several all nighters last week - maybe worn out?
Bye Owl
Yes, sleep deprivation, return to work, being overworked---> not good for your brain or body. Take baby steps.
Phantom = dentist
yes I saw that too
Well, I woke up sweating (always - menopause) and then I could not go back to sleep and the stomach began in an uproar
Accept what you can + cannot do, and do not overextend yourself.
good advice let's see if I can take it
Let go and let God take care of you and the universe.
Is there any other solution for the injured teacher's courses?
no. unfortunately they do not want to hire a sub. it is easy and cheaper to dump on me.
How many extra classes were you given?
three - two marine and one forensics now I dont have a break!
school will be out in 6 weeks.
Any recourse for you? Contract?
sciencegeek, i have 7 weeks left
Hi Lu
no. the contract is in their favor.
Hi Lu!
SG, just accept that you cannot do it all as well as you wish. Prepare kids for the final exam. Handouts, etc
not sure why i was so worked up...perfectionism
Well, this is FINITE. Set up a plan, strategies for you and your students.
that's a positive and negative characteristic of teachers
true Lu
I know Scrabs, just need to count down the days. hopefully, i will not be in trouble for being out today
As I have gotten older I tolerate less than perfectionism from myself, because perfect often isn't expected from others or needed.
I average 10 hr days at school
me too
I'm not sure it's perfectionism as much as it is the desire to help those who depend on us
Your students appreciate that, I hope.
hello everybody
Hi jacq
hi jacq
i do NOT like passive-aggressive prima donnas
how has everyone been? been a while
What I have learned from parents that homeschool is that they teach their kids how to learn. So guide them the best you can. Give outlines and reading assignments. Provide resources. And can the injured teacher give any guidance or advice?
Hi hurshy!
hiya
What was the report on your husband?
it was cancer, a level 2 on the aggressiveness scale, but they got it all, and they plan to scan him annually for recurrence indefinitely.
Whoa, what type?
wow hurshy, so glad they got it all and hopeful;ly he's on the mend
i don't know. kidney cancer level 2 aggressive is all i know. they didn't tell any further detail.
So it was found incidentally which is a blessing.
but there are 4 levels of aggressive, you know, so, level 2 isn't too bad.
Scrabs, I will survive it.
How is he doing now?
I'm so glad for you hurshy
Sorry Hurshy!
Yes, SG, because it is short-term and finite.
yes, it was found incidentally from the gall bladder surgery. he's doing fine.
that was lucky, very lucky hurshy
sg, i have found that i can do anything for 6 weeks.
true. I just worry too much. I have trouble sleeping anyway
you need clonazepam! i loves me clon.
used to take it. weaned off years ago so addictive
I have trouble going to sleep but sleep well once I doze
maybe i need another script! menopause and anxiety are bad bedfellows
define addictive... i couldn't sleep before without it, so if i went off it and still couldn't sleep... that would be the same as it was before. i don't need ever increasing doses or anything.
go hand in hand
try melatonin before bedtime--1/3 - 3 mg
i am weaning off my zoloft, though, and that is going well.
BBS, time to switch to netbook and watch jeopardy
did that before scrabs and it made me crazier than usual
i take trazadone
so, i have hu8 - could someone tell me what the other 8 starts with?
he hursh
dont have it yet will look at list
he 8
is it weird or normal?
hello all back to finish last 70

Ha. I just looked up the hu6. I thought it was a greek cheese or something. Not quite.
ty for the help judi.. fireworks here... night all, and happy babbles
I'm Buffy the Barrister Slayer. It only took seven years for me to smote the evil partnership I worked for.
All it cost me was irritable bowel syndrome and a ruptured appendix!
Needless to say, they were a stressful lot.
hehehe, stidium
mi 6/21?
Usually, I am cleverly disguised as an Administrative Assistant. *fluffs super chic super hero cape*

Hi Nef.

Sure, they all laughed... before laser beams shot out of my eyes and vaporized them all.

WHOA! <Backs away quickly!>

Obviously, there's no "mild mannered" in my clever disquise.
forgets aking judy a file cake, she has no need.
Nothing personal, lawyer1. I'm sure the devil won't require your soul until after your student loans are paid off.

Well, I can go to bed now that I've said "clam worm".

And where else but Babble would "clam word" ever enter into conversation?
i would suppose in a court room
Another reason to never eat raw shellfish. Yerk!

hi pini.. hi dc... hi stiddy
oh! got one of the Rs too...
how's school?
oh, thank goodness, stid...it's tough to figure out which one comes from that R
I feel like going back to school soon
I should go back to school, too...but I'm not sure for exactly what yet :(
*wants to bump up GPA*
there. NBT.
well done, stid
I'm not sure I had a GPA...been outta school for so long!
me5?
pini, I think going back to school sounds like a great idea. BUT. I would think carefully before jumping into GRAD school. I am not sure the extra gray hairs are worth the potential increase in pay. I now see why some of my friends decide to work in other fields after completing grad school...
same first 4 of the word following (dbl last vowel)
*has grey hairs already*
* gasp * Grad school? Gads...I'd be happy with a bachelor's or associate's!
ty, pini
yvw dc ;)
???? you don't have those? YES. *stern mama look* school is in order! *pulls out books and dictionaries and papers and fresh sharp pencils and lots of choclits (students need choclits)*
<-- fessy up to not being the sharpest needle in the case
ooooh, I like the idea of choclits!!!
Pini, i took an arabic class last spring and upped my GPA by 2
pini, you are plenty sharp! (having been poked once or twice) but sometimes REAL LIFE intervenes in school-type decisions.
Well, when I graduated HS, college was an option...if I only knew then that what I know now (that most businesses now REQUIRE a degree), I would have perhaps made a different choice...
I wouldn't even know how to find out what my GPA is...where does one start?
"school" doesn't make one smart you know... and not going to college doesn't make a person not-smart. All it does is hone the ways you report "smartage" and gives you a silly piece of paper to put on the wall.
me6, pls?
if you didn't go to college, then you don't have a GPA to worry about. That will change quickly enough.
It's amazing to me how I actually finally got hired by the Uni!
Start with a class at the college in something that interests you. I assume they have discounts for employees?
me6 = males + employ someone - e
you were hi5 because you are CAPABLE (which includes smart).
75% off, stid!
well, I finally convinced them that 30 years of executive level management must account for something!
*gasp* and you have waited THIS LONG???? *revised "smart" estimate.... and ducks!*
ROFL!
thanks, stid...gotta love the encouragement you get from friends!
(((pini))) I think, if you WANT to go to college then you should try it. And if it turns out to not be "for" you, then there is no harm in stopping, either. But at least you will be able to say you "gave it the old college try" *grins at silly pun*
And DON'T use the excuse of "age" -- I keep telling myself that no matter what, I will be *mumble mumble mumble* in 2011, and I might as well have that extra piece of paper and be certified to teach...
I gave it the old college try just after high school, but that didn't sit well and you don't exactly get a degree after just 3 weeks! ;)
three weeks is not a robust sample, to be sure!
Yeah, but I don't know what I have an interest in studying...I've been out so long and done so much...
* robust * giggle...
I wasn't really ready for college right out of high school, either. It took some "real life" to convince me it might be worth it. And then, as you know, I got a job that didn't really require college, and then I had kids, and now that degree is close to worthless because it was so long ago! SO.... I am "retooling" myself
pini -- you like the outdoors. Consider a class in ecology. Or horticulture so you learn to do something with your yard. Or literature, so you have an excuse to read books and talk about them !
I just sometimes wonder how I would choose something that would be worthwhile pursuing to "advance" me from where I am...
Or try an art class like photography? Or what about music? that seems to run in your family...
horticulture? * gasp* me no yard girl!
I faked clarinet in HS...not sure I want to master that! ;)
2nd me5.14?
don't worry about "advance" just yet. Remember that colleges have general requirements (English, some math, some history...) and that most people take a few additional electives just for fun.
there's only 1 me5/14
And talk to your school's guidance counselor, who can explain how it all works in details that make sense. You aren't on anyone's time table pini --
good point...maybe I'll consider dabbling in some GE courses...
...see how that goes...
anyway, I am now down to 92 and struggling to read. But I am ready for tomorrow, and thanks to you and seain I feel just a little bit as if I accomplished something (halfway and NBT have got to count for something...)
well done, stid! take care...don't stress...and sleep well! :)
g'night stid
2nd me5.14, pls?
so, I shall see you both again soonish. (((Hugs))) be well and happy mid-April. *poof*
2nd im5.14, pls rather?
