hi, pav
hi pav
lol dc, but I do feel very guilty, I will have to force myself soon
*offer sandy a hot toddy and/or ice cream*
*takes the toddy and leaves the ice cream afor sandy*
laziness, must run rampant nowadays...already into third day of staycation and only half kitchen cleaned,,,is there a pill I should take?
hot toddy would be nice and then I would sleep for the rest of the day- I was reading your blurb dc, I wish I could come to a babble meetup-I will one day!
are there other babblers nearish Perth?
Pav, I think babble is responsible for a lot of laziness
there are- there is loredana and a couple of others. Next time they are on , maybe I will arrange something (good idea!)
*aghast*
rur, I think it is true
but babbling is good for peeps...makes bosses think we need more time off!
haven't seen loredana for a long time
*passes out*
i've seen lore on in the last 10ish daysi think
No! I wonder what's up with her.
that's why I gave it up for a few months there! But I must have the addictive gene
I miss moonwoof

what? me? addicted? noooooooooooooo...
well.....hmmm....all of them can't be too bad in moderation
<------ doesn't have a life...
agreed, sandy
what's moderaton?
I would love to be addicted to housework and have an eating disorder
clearing out storage, i found a case of lovely vintage wines :) it was a French case, so got missorted in the move
ruru, how's Dylan doing? You haven't been talking about him lately.
sounds ok to me dc- I had a friend for lunch yesterday , she gave me a carton of wine from her winery (she can come again)

I don't have it .. flosey.. I was asking for a hint
oh, sorry
so, you're saying it isn't a plural? do you have the co6 before it?
is codine a word? Thanks
yes i have the plural before it
oh, thanks ru
I mean codeine
for the 7/32 you can take the 4/5 before it and end it with the number before ten without the n...does that make any sense at all?
it is a very strange word
haven't figured that out yet
that sure is a strange word
the fourth and fifth letters are the same vowel...
omg..
thanks a lot dd
never ever ever would have found that
I wish I knew what you're talking about
you are very welcome...I am an incurable lurker and appreciate all of the great clues from others!
co732 jilli - very strange word, but read dd's clue and follow it without trying to make sense

te 5 is jilli's favorite word flosey
very hard to clue, flosey...there are three vowels in the middle...after the te there are two vowels that are the same then it ends in a consonant...bad clue, but see if it helps.

hi katie, i always seem to be by myself at this time
it's 4.30pm here, what time for you
in the Maldives it is 2.30pm
are you on holiday in the maldives?
sorry internet went down, yes we are on holiday
hello everybody
I was on before and got 53 words but the first 50 are always doable and then I usually hit a wall
what a wonderful place for a holiday! Are you diving?
how are you sandyloo?
just snorkling ruby it's roasting so in the bar cooling down
I used to snorkel in the Keys when we lived in Miami and I loved it, even though I can't swim!
the bar sounds like a good place to cool down. They are predicting snow here today!
I'll be drinking hot toddies while you're drinking rum punch!
you picked a great time to go away; the UK must be cold, too
SNOW!!!!!
and of course miss smarty pants put tomatoes in 2 wks ago, against the advice of all my neighbords!
oh dear
we love snorkelling and husband and sister scuba dive- have been snorkelling on the outer barrier reef it was amazing
that must be the best place in the world for diving and snorkeling sandy!
I think it is, sharks swam by - huge fish and bright colours - it was wonderful
we were a long way out to sea, we couldn't see land
right i'm off to lie in the airconditioning lol
hooray, i have finished the four letter words'
have to feed the animals
hello
hi herin, animals are fed
Hello
Good morning anyone!
hi sally, it's lonely here at this time
good morning
You're never alone on babble, sandy.
true true how true
I have to get dinner (so can't be stuffed)
me too (in a minute) I am sick of it too
crumbed snapper and salad tonight
Sick of the grid? Or sick of getting dinner?
Dinner
It is right there I just can't be arsed moving
I love fresh fish - we have a great seafood store near us, it sells all west australian seafood - no asian stuff(loaded with heavy metals)
I love it too, sandy. We had some great fish when we visited Oz. Where we live is pretty far from the sea, but we have a good fish man that comes to the market every week.
Tomorrow night we are burning our big bonfire here at the farm. People coming over and I am doing a big platter of seafood- crayfish, prawns, smoked salmon, crabs, chilli muscles yum yum
Bothers me we have the best meat and seafood yet we get stuck with second grade crap as ours get exported
fresh ceduna oysters
Not keen on the oysters, sandy, but the rest ... *looks up instant flights to Oz*
mmmmm Sandy
these oysters are lovely, not the big yucky ones but little firm and fresh!
But you eat them raw, right?
fresh from the rocks
we do! with a lovely sauce that Nicky makes- I can hardly wait, I love fires!
Herin, have you been to the Sydney fish markets- I love it there!
I have sandy!!
Um no I am in melb
did you love it Sally, we always go there when we go to Sydney
Herin, my son is in Melbourne at the moment, I wish he would come home, I worry about him
why?
We adored it. A friend who was Australian suggested we visit. Got the bus out I think. We had just under a week in Sydney and bought one of those explorer tickets, so went everywhere on boat, bus, tram, and foot!
he is living in Fitzroy and doesn't like the guy he is living with and is going to move etc etc
Sydney is fantastic, but you need more time - jus tlike everywhere you go on holiday I guess!
Am finding today's grid quite hard. Is it just me?
No, it is a chore, I had to go to lists when I had only 25 words
The co's and i's are a bit of a challenge.
Yes, we only had about three weeks total holiday. Spent a week with relatives near Sofala, the other side of the Boue Mountains, then flew up and spent some time seeing rainforest and barrier reef, and one night up in Kuranda. A memorable holiday.
We always walk across the bridge and have lunch then walk back and look in art galleries there
Sorry not Boue but Blue!
We travel a lot in aus and I just love everywhere we go. I am so lucky to live in this country!
Fitzroy is ok
Were you born in Perth sandy/
As a Melbourneite it is my duty to say Sydney sucks.
Not been to Melbourne so can't compare :-) but we loved it, loved the light on the water everywhere.
I know where you are coming from Herin. and yes I was Sally. Our family are pioneers of this state. They owned sheep stations where we spent our school holidays- I just love Australia- and that means all of it!
There is a Sydney - Melbourne rivallry!
It is just a Melb v Syd thing. I love Sydney but apparently it has to be done
LOL Herin - One of the things I love best about Australia (and I have travelled a bit overseas) is the food and restaurants
Tony's cousin had a sheep station in Sofala (which we visited) but they have now retired to Gulgong. Would love to go back, and now we have the time, but the journey is not something we could do now - husband had an accident last year and couldn't do it.
good morning everyone - catching up on chat, thanks for the travelogue! one day maybe, I will see the other side of the world
I loved the open air thing. Everything is done outside, and we can very rarely plan to do that here.
O and the coffee
Sally that isn't good about hubby
no it's not Sally, is he ok?
aww I just got owned
No, herein, it's been a bad year but things are improving although he is still partially disabled.
Damn Sally.
My husband is a US cit and we have been to the states ....but I didn't like the food (sorry)
Can we ask what happened Sally?
I have visited the States just once, to California if that counts :-)
We drove from Florida to the Pochonos which was great. We also have been to LA
neverbeen outside of Aus
Sandy you came close to your "cousin" city - Perth Amboy, where I work.....
What happened? Well he had a heart bypass last April and was recovering well, but got up suddenly in the night and the tablets he was on made his blood pressure plummet so he blacked out and fell forward over the bath, hit his head and nearly broke his neck. I rushed in to a bath full of blood! He totally lost the use of his hands for quite a while (and I mean totally) but he is making progress. Many people worse off and all that. He can now drive which is good.
His legs are also affected, but just a bit wobbly really.
oh, my sally - glad to hear he is recovering -
OMG that does sound bad,I hope he will continue to improve - it must have been so hard for you and scary!
oh for the love of all things pink and fuzzy Sally that is terrible.
Where is 'Amboy' JB?
Good job our bathroom is big, I think there were 8 people in there at one time (ambulance, paramedics, etc)
Perth Amboy is a small city in New Jersey (population about 45,000) - nice waterfront (Raritan Bay, opens on the Atlantic) and interesting colonial history
You poor thing! I hate things like that! It is very stressful
We stayed in New York for a while but didn't get to visit New Jersy.
Jersey
He has been very courageous about it all, especially the weeks he spent absolutely flat on his back and unable even to feed himself. I would have gone spare.
next time, Sandy, I'll give you the 30-minute tour (you can see it all in that time)
Sally, how did you cope with all of this? Are you OK now?
How about you, Sally, do you have help? or are you the primary caretaker?
I'm fine, though I did get a bit stressed. We have help in the garden now once a week which is a great boon, and we have some amazing friends round here. And I have Babble!!!
yay for Babble! helped me through some similar stresses and challenges, Sally - good friends, good chat helps a lot
Sandy - if you have any friends or relations in the education business and if they are interested in a class exchange with a Perth Amboy group, let me know, I have teachers that would love to have email or real mail pen pals
I love that about Babble , there are times when I have really appreciated the support
JBV- how interesting! My daughter is a school teacher
She would be interested in that sort of thing I'm sure
I wonder if they know about the "Flat Stanley" project - it's a character in a children's book, they send him on air mail journeys around the world and he comes back with pictures and stories from children in other places, very cool
JB, My email address is on my profile - can you send me your contact - Diana is teaching in Broome at the moment but I would like to put you in touch with her
I love the sound of the Flat Stanley project.
so do I, and I know Diana would too!
you can contact me at jbv909@gmail.com
Just found a very strange co7
care to share the co7 - I'm going nowhere with this grid
ok, sandy - I will send you an email which you can forward to your daughter
co* = against plus double vowel plus abbreviation for North East
you know JB, I think I have heard of this. Thanks for that and I will do that.
OMG I still have Flat Stantly
hello hello!!!
that co 7 is the main ingredient in hemlock! new word for me
hi ruby
HI ruby.
hi ruby, bonjour! time for me to get ready for the work day- see you all later
I looked it up as well, JBV! and hallo ruby
what is your experience with Flat Stanley Herin
The Book? I read it cover to cover as a kid
Sandy, just checked your profile, don't see your email, tho
ok it is sandracarrick@hotmail.com
I believe Stanley got squished that is why he became flat
must have deleted it accidently
please email me JB (I think we must be about the same age)
I never heard of Flat Stanley, but what a wonderful idea for school kids!
hello sally!
it is isn't it>
Not busy with your visitors, ruby?
how cold is it there? They predicted snow here for today and naturally, ignoring local wisdom, I put my tomatoes in two weeks ago.
Fiasco yesterday. We thought our friend as arriving in Geneva via London yesterday, drove to the airport (45 min) in rain, waiting more than an hour after his plane landed, gave up, came home, called his wife and found out he was leaving Miami yesterday, arriving today.
LOL Ruby, I think it is freezing here (i know that wasn't directed at me, I'm just cashing in) it is about 6 degrees celcius here at night at the moment
OPPS Ruby
isn't that very cold for there, sandy?
Our outside thermometer shows 13 deg C at the moment, but there is a very cold wind. We had sleet briefly the other day, and are having some very cold nights, down to only just above freezing.
Poor Ruby, I hate airports
today, he can take a cab or a bus if he can find it.
hello hello from dial-up land!
Oh, no ruby!
ATA
very cold Ruby, we have just finished a summer with lots of 40 degrees and this is literally happened in one week- from airconditioning to heating
Cat on my foot
Hi Ata
since 9/11 I am very spooked about airports and Geneva is pretty scary as, although small, it is full of scary-looking people
Re tomatoes, I would believe your local wisdom :-) We are quite high up here (not mountains, but hills) and I wouldn't put certain things out yet.
yay for ATA! Everybody misses you and asks about you!
Ata! How's the leg? How are the Scillies?
Our cat has just been riding around the farm with me on our four wheeler motorbike - I took him on it as a kitten and now he loves it
if there is no frost, they should be OK.
got another 4 days in dial-up hell before normlaity resumes!
that is so cute, sandy!
leg is painful! scillies are cold and wet! :) but still my favourite place ever
is it chilly in the scillies as well?
he is gorgeous- a seal point siamese with lots of attitude
Hobbit's been learning to ride round on the back of a friend's golf buggy round the island
Lovely, sandy. One of our cats used to spend hours draped round my neck like a furry boa.
Don't give Hobbit ideas, Ata, he will expect that when he gets home.
if Ruby draped herself around my neck, I'd collapse in a heap!
Ata, you broke your leg - is that right? when you were on holiday?
my rat bag cat just jumped off the couch on my foot.
she has been SO spoilt here. Everyone loves her
no you pulled some tendons?
didnt break it - tore one of the ligaments, which is probably worse *rolls eyes*
are you still trapped on the island?
yes, at least once they set a bone, that's that!
yep, though got out for a boat trip yesterday which was *lovely*
Take that leg into the PB, Ata!
does that mean the next Olympics is out for you? And the Tour de France?
Ata what about SIlly ?
that leg doesn't move anywhere, even to the PB LOL :)
ooh I hope you don't miss the Tour!
Love that Tour! but they should show all of the races , not just a section
the more worrying thing is that it *might* just mean no Nepal trip with Liz next spring. We'll see ... hopefully not, but they don't know yet whether I've hurt it badly or very badly
Ata what did you do with Silly?
Fingers crossed for you, Ata. Spring is a long way ahead.
Hope it gets better - I guess it's important to rest now and let it heal properly
she's in her favourite cattery
here they show almost every minute, Sandy, and last year it went right below my house and through our little village in the individual time trial (which went around Lac d'Annecy)
it is, but I'm meant to be gettig fit this year, not sitting around in a plaster cast :P
Is this a Silly friendly place?
Hey Can I do Nepal from Aus?
we went to see the Tour when it was in England. Amazing to watch. All 10 seconds of the riders zooming past!
I put up signs and stuff on our lawn, but they went by so fast there was only a glimpse on the TV
sure you can, herin. I think, anyway!
No fair Ruby! They just show the last couple of hours here, I get so frustrated
I love those signs Ruby
we get the whole races too
the time trial is better to watch, because it's one rider at a time, starting with the worst ones and ending with the best.
interesting have to look into it.
It is but I like it when they fall off (I'm bad) and they generally don't do that on the time trials. LOL
one year I want to go and watch Alpe d'Huez
I made a huge bicycle and put up a huge "allez lance" sign on the hege with American flags and bunting
I love watching the scenery
about 7 years ago, it came very close, and I got a good look at Lance on his way down from the Col de la Forclaz, near where our housekeeper lives
How fantastic Ruby
I do admire Lance
it is my favorite thing - 3 weeks of 4 hrs a day
isn't the noise they make amazing as they ride past?
Ata I would love to have done the ride around Viet Nam for charity
I drive my family mad - i'm the only fan
plus, it's like a very long French lesson, and each year, I learn some more French and how to listen faster.
there's so many amazing charity events herin
I love it, but can't watch it in crowds -- not a crowd or noise person
I have to cook the dinner now - I'm getting hungry
I have to cook the dinner now - I'm getting hungry bbl
there is one commentator, Jean-Paul Olivier, who is quite old now but does the "color" and dewcribes all the chateaux and gives the history
I like it on tele - but I would love to go on a camping trip when it is on (that is camping along the way in France)
later Sandy
bye sandy! I'll look for my Tour photos and send them your way!
bye for now sandy
later, have fun and be good
26 left
as you drive into Canterbury, the road markings from the Tour are still just about visible in one section. I love it
as you drive into Canterbury, the road markings from the Tour are still just about visible in one section. I love it
laters ER on soon'
were they for Cavendish? He's a darling
and talented
nooo they just left the official stage start markings on the road. but on the day there were Cav signs and banners everywhere
What a grid! Yuck so far.
But a bright good morning to you all.
I would like to order a g next one of the n on the right side, please.
Hi Merk. the ic words are useful.
Add ic to everything and you'll be fine.
I've learned to always appreciate them teaming up.
I am stuck on the co 8. Do you have a clue please?
Oh, I just got it. Why didn't I see that one?
By the way, there are two co8s.
Perhaps if I had gone for the 6 first ... and had a cup of coffee.
(Just to depress yu)
Anyone need any clues? Just going to get myself an early lunch.
co 7 please
The first one.
co* = against, plus I have a ***on on my bed instead of blankets, plus a vowel (then plural)
I beg your pardon?
I think I'll make coffee and read that clue again. LOL
I got it
Good Jean. Not sure how else to clue it.
I didn't because I can't think of 'against'.
Oh, I see, that is a consonant.
Think pros and ***s
maybe a japanese type of folding bed for that second part
Oh, silly me, of course, was muddling with duvet. Do apologise.
Oh yeah.
Have you got it now Merk?
its the bedding part thats stumping me
not actually bedding but a type of bed
Think lightweight folding wooden slats
good for small apartments, use as couch then bed
Much loved by students, and desperately uncomfortable to sleep on :-)
got it ty
It's too early in the morning. My daughter had one in her dorm room in college and I cannot think of the word for the life of me.
ive not slept in one ,but i have slept on an old fold out,the kind with the bar in the middle of yer back
those are brutal
OK, try this. Chinese philosopher was co***cius. Change that last cius to two other letters.
better to sleep on those sideways and let your feet dangle on the floor
Well, I have it. ty so much. They are not comfortable to sleep on, I'll vouch for that. My daughter's bed was up on posts and the thing was under it instead of a sofa.
I hae not heard of either of those 7s before.
My c tile is filled in and I'm glad of it.
im sorry clue the second c7 again please
It is such an odd word. It has the same beginning as the co 4,5 but double the final consonant.
It's last five letters are like a number word that hiccups with an extra vowel in the middle.
The second one? co* = against (as before) followed by double vowel, followed by abbreviation of North East. Means poison from hemlock apparently.
ty sally
new one for me
Me too. Had to use morewords for that one.
BRB
a g would of been handy:(
Good Morning All - thanks Sally for the c clues
this board really stinks today
oh just found the delicious breakfast food
grrr...damn kid of mine is just laying there till the last possible bloody second...grrr

have you stumbled on any good bacon recipes lately?
maybe it's coming by freighter
my computer is giving me a hard time
lagging
mine does that too - sometimes mail sits in our server for a bit before it spits it out as OK
did your guest get in OK yesterday
French servers, bah humbus, or however you say that in French -zut alors?
I'm adding it to my catalogue of poisons, just in case......
no, we had the day wrong, theoretically, he should be arriving in Geneva just about now and will take a taxi or bus.....
well, you got to go for a nice ride on a cold rainy day
I'm still trying futon and duvet --- hmmmm
at least the snow hasn't happened and the fend guy is coming in an hour to secure the grille from ms. escape-artist
they dont work
you can't believe the thickness of the wire she bend with her stufforn head!
bent
she has been renamed I see
my stomach is hijacking my fingers. I've already got the B word, but I keep entering "bacon"
my typing is full of mistakes; I'm cold and nervous and husband is a wreck!

eveything will be just fine - if you run out of food, you go to the store
it hs never happened!!!
im sure it hasnt
it's not like we live in the high mountains!
I'm still looking for the breakfast food....
there are 2 - one healthy and one not
naturally I got the unhealthy one first!
is the other one curds and ****?
no - the other is not solely for breakfast but goes well in cereal
can't find honey, either, hahah I think I can't concentrate on this now, see you later!
and we should all have several servings of this each day
have a great day ruby - see you later
((hugs)) still chuckling - can't imagine what that is!

8:01 amMomneedshelp co8 + slang for prisoner + first 3 letters of couch/bed combo + vowel plural
ha! got the i
I can't figure out the co8
what a strange word
The other co 8 is a pl of the co6/39
and what is the lower h? is it a 4 letter word?
and how is your mom, Uni? and the shed cats of glory?
I'm dim and still haven't got that co8. Clearly it works though.
no Ata is it is the pl of the h6/21
Lori and kitties all seem well. I think!
I really miss her in the chat :(
and I reall miss her full stop :((
co = co + *ew*ie (nice big fluffy dog close to Uni's home) + ***rus. something very important in bodily plumbing. plural
***I miss me too!***
Lori!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!
(((((()))))))))
*grabs Lori and superglues her to the PB floor so she can't run off*
Look what I dragged in!
LORIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!
now STAY
lolol G'd morning Babblers! Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated, it was only my soul that died. :)
How grand to see you.
Hi Lori
has it been resurrected, if just a little?
FM, go grab Haz. SHe should see this!
***Lori observes that the PB ceiling could do with a good scrubbing*** FM! Ata! Everybody's alive!
Sitting here with inane grin on my face now so happy to see you.
Look who thinks she is Mark Twain!
Hm, is PB scrubbing Haz's responsibility as chief of pollice and cleaning madwoman, or FM's as PB tender? **ponders**
could be worse. could be Poe
Haz isn't online atm
You people are really interfering with my self pity. :p The force is strong in you people!
well text her!
Poe, gah! Hide the razor blades.
exactly. Twain is an improvement :P
Haz would be appalled at the condition of the ceiling. I say we solve the problem by covering it with posters.
just keep an eye out for ravens
Ata you know I can't text to save my life - it would take me about 10 mins and first I have to find the mobile.
*facepalm* LOL you're hopeless :) *hugs*
*sneaks in to watch her elders play*
Hi jmc
not me jmc i am a baby at 55
Clue for to4/8 please?
I like Poe! Also...texting? Come on now. I've got a strong hate for it at the mo, as people keep coming to visit me, then texting others and leaving to go see them instead! I'm very boring, it seems.
***In a moment of uncharcteristic non-violence, Lori launches a hug cannon at FM*** Kaboom!
how's the leg ata?
nice to see you lori

WEll I told you before, swinging from the chandelier will only end up in tears!
I'm a total square, I use my phone for calls. ***places a firm eye on mAta Hari for revenge launch***
I have a cast from my ankle to pretty much my backside!
Thanks FMitch
why do you keep calling poor Kenny a meat substitute? I think I should lend kenny my flak jacket
yw Kenny LOL jmc
*hands flak jacket and special foil hat to Kenny*
Ata can youtext HAz?
I think I will with the fight for youngest, if that's what is going on here. still?
Oh I see you have the new seasons tin foil hat jmc, ni4 style ;)

ty ty I was wondering if anyone would notice *models*
excuses, exscuses!

mata Hari and the case of the mysterious non specificinjury supported by a huge cast. Girl, vacay is for wine women and song, not plaster of Paris. :(
We will just have to instist that Lori comes back to visit tomorrow so Haz can join in too - hows that for a ploy to keep her here :)
***hoards tinfoil for the pending end times***
tell me about it! Lori, I ripped one of the ligaments in my knee. It hurts.
ah good idea
How did you do it Ata?
Wait a minute, who stole my patent for tinfoil hats? I am owed royalties!
hey, keep your hands off my tinfoil caps!
um .... playing on rocks ... as usual LOL
i will see you in court uni!
:-P
Ooh, ligaments are major ouchies-ville. Not good.
Court? oooh ooh oooh, who shall be the jester?
You might just! (See me in court, that is:D)
tell me about it *sigh* and there is no x-ray machine down here in the ISles of Scilly so they put a great big cast on till I get home and can get it looked at properly
At least you won't get a sunburn, Ata.
ah this is the way to start a day!
it's very strange feeling your knee try to bend in odd directions
expensive sunscreen. Leave it to our mAta Hari.
One leg white and one leg brow another good look for this season *snort*
I did yesterday! well, a bit of a sun tan anyway, went on a little boat trip to go look at seals and birds. it was a gorgeous day
Mind you, you are presuming that the sun is shining here.
but alas i have an early (for me) meeting *dons cape and flies out of chog*
That gives new meaning to a Farmer's tan
Oh, poor Ata. just looking at seals and things!
you went on a boat trip with you leg in plaster!
Later jmc
uni, I put some pics up on my fb of them. sooo cute!
*lessens grip on Loris hand as her fingers are turning blue*
I coloured in a Sesame Street colouring book with crayons yesterday while you were out enjoying seals. Po babe! :D
Canoe come out to play ata? ***I know, lame-O***

I got fireworks this morning
G'd Mornin' peri. I still don't clean stuff, so all in all i'm pretty good. :)

I do not like this grid either, red!
I want another large one. they have al most all without exception been rather dinky lately!
hi inge, hi red =)
oh lord, its alreay 11?
i have been too long away, am finding it particularly tiresome...

CONGRATULATIONS, and bye bye!
later TK~ good to see you back in the chog. don't stay away so long!
and I stand by my selection of "stupid"!
trying not to.... buying new computer soon (i hope) things MIGHT be looking up a bit for me after a ridiculously long struggle!
TKate. the guy never runs out of chocolates Cute!
i should be back more regularly soon... moving house.
TK, what part of Toronto do you live in?
yes... help yourself... they are put to the pb for all to enjoy (along with a really nice selection of red wines)
i'm west end - lakeshore
I need eggs and bacon - any in the PB?
are you in to?
I lived in North York and Forest Hill
but that was eons ago
i will have the cabana boys make some for you... over easy, bacon crispy, rye toast, and crunchy homefries with garlic and onion...
not yet -----
just hungry
bbl
where are you now lawyer?
Baltimore
are you home? or a long way from home?
there are a lot of babblers from that area
I was born and raised in Baltimore...worked in Toronto for about 5 years
f. hill and n. york are nice... miss it?
I miss the cleanliness and safety of the city along with the food and diversity of the population
never could get used to the paper money
we are that, lol...the money? even though you have some colour in yours now?
at least all the coins are the same...
I know, u were just ahead of us with the money
nope...we do not have loons
there's talk of getting some kind of polymer bills... true plastic cash!
My 2 oldest kids were born there
i forgot about the toonies and loonies...not really fond of those...hell for men with no purse to carry them in.
are you kids dual?
yes, but neither have returned to their birth city
well, it's nice they have the option. i'm half american, but never took up citizenship (my brother did) was landed for several years...
of course, I haven't been back since the early 80's
you should come up for holiday! let the kids visit...
but I do collect on my CPP
the kids r old enough to do as they wish....my son lives in Seattle and takes the occasional jaunt up to BC
well there you go! come spend some of that canuck cash!
he must have had culture shock moving there?
that money might pay for my wife and I to go out to dinner 1ce a month
Actually, he lived in Santa Barbara b4 moving to Seattle
.. i guess 5 years doesn't get you much.. but at least with the exchange up it gets you dessert too =)
haha... funion is not a word!
Kate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never expected to collect anything, so I can't complain...I have given up trying to collect OASDI
Phantom: nicotine
can 1 get addicted to phantom nicotine or would that be a phantom addiction?
is that like phantom pain?
That would be no-cotine.
oasdi? old age security disability...?
lol judi =)
yes, tk
what's the i for?
and u can take the phantom codeine for the phantom pain
insurance....i think
there are people that look into that for you aren't there? ombudsmen or something?
the amount of money i would get there wouldn't even buy me McD lunch
judi... do i know you outside of babble?
When I left CA, they took away my green card. Now I cannot get OASDI without that
i guess it's not worth the effort then... if it is such a pittance...
Hmmm. Don't think so, Kate. Is there life outside of Babble? I've heard rumors.
ya, you lose your landed status pretty quickly.
haha judi... i play a few other games with another judi...but i never quite nailed down all the game names with real ones... i get too confused!
but i think both of my kids still have their dual citizenship
This is pretty much my one and only game.
am I the other Judy, Kate?
yes you are one my dear judy... but we have a mutual friend (judi l.) in fv... thought that might be her...
you are THE Judy, girl!
Judy, what part of PA do u live in?
not many with that spelling...
hi seain!
I'm in Schuylkill County lawyer
thx DC
I'm missing the first un6/33. Grrrrrr.
I worke for a bit in Hanover

Ty, dc.
can't help you judi... not even half way here... sigh!
just got to halfway
25 left and really hating on the grid now.
I'm assuming you're an atty Lawyer?
lucky guess, Judy
i thought it looked nasty, but i started it anyway... first mistake!
worked in the legal field all my life since high school
and I've been a lawyer for 40+ years
TraderKate,I love your icon
always loved my work, lawyer
40 years for me this year
I don't do much work now

Better check my grapes, Kate. LOL

hi ruby
Hey Boo.
Hiya, ruby!
I have 63 words but probably won't get any more
hi ruby
Hi CiociaJudy

73% grown Kate!
my poor husband has just gone to the train station looking for his friend who was supposed to arrive from Miami yesterday but hopefully, will have taken an airport bus from Geneva, and will be there at 6PM.
my poor husband has just gone to the train station looking for his friend who was supposed to arrive from Miami yesterday but hopefully, will have taken an airport bus from Geneva, and will be there at 6PM.
so.. 6 and a bit hours to go... whatever will you do with your time?
why did that print twice -- sorry to be such bore!
hmmmm I wonder . . .
you're not a bore,ruby
optomistic me has dinner all ready for them but I don't know if they'll find each other.....
we your friends remember
sometimes our computers are out of our control Ruby
ruby - are you okay today?
his friend gave us his departure date as his arrival date, so we spent 3 hrs at Geneva airport yesterday.
my chog has been very strange today.. it does not like to take my input. and it lags a lot too
Oh no Ruby!
yes, geek, I negotiated a detente, and things are much better and will have to do. It would be like putting an unwanted dog on the side of the road!
i hope that the time differences have been taken into account. did he not give you a flight number or airline?
I've been having lag, too, I thought it was my bad French server!
yes, yesterday's BA flight and it was on time; he just wasn't on it!
I think his friend didn't realize that if you leave on the 5th from Miami, you arrive in Europe on the 6th.
4 left : one t and 3 co's!
ba may have re-scheduling info on him?
i once was a day early to pick up a friend from a flight from Buenos Aires that turned out to be a daily flight.
go geek go
I spoke to his wife in Florida and don't want to tie up the phone in case he calls from somewhere!
yay, geek, go go go
transatlantic travel can tax the brain trying to struggle with time and date changes..
i cannot find the words......
they predicted snow here for today, but it didn't happen YAY
go sg!
geek, if I could help you, I would, but I only found 63 words in this very distracted day
that's better than me Ruby. I'm at 59
*sticks tongue out* 12.
hahah, judy
I have this great dinner prepared, any takers?
i have a paltry 45 =(
yes please ruby... i'm starved
well it's lunchtime here, Ruby so I'm ready to eat!
Jai faim!
this guy is 60 or so, you'd think he'd telephone or something.....
maybe he is rude??
je pense que c'est delicieux [sp?] ici
yay!
no, just an old hippie, a little to much weed on the brain
but lovely guy
what did you make??
lol
He probably doesn't want to incur the long distance charges, ruby. Or impose them on you by calling collect.
judy... i have another judy friend in pa... have been trying to get her to come to babble as she does like the word games... she likes lexulous... i should introduce you!
clue for ni 7
seafood salad with hot pepper, tomato, onion on the side and porkchops with rice and peas and applesauce
where in PA Kate?
OMG Ruby. Now I'm REALLY hungry!!
trader kate, what is her lexulous name? I am an old addict!
Wow, Ruby. You really threw down! *holds out plate* (hold the onions and hot pepper, please).
when I was younger and much more energetic, I think I was a good cook. Now, not so much.
I'm a Lexulous addict too.
yummy
boo ni 7 is when something is cool/neat-o
plural
I don't eat any of the hot stuff. Husband has an asbestos tongue and even eats Scotch bonnets. Crazy person
hilda rumpole (alter ego) and judy ellmer hall
I want the onions and peppers
ty
what are scotch bonnets?
you got it, geek! Just show up and, hopefully, we can make a connection, not like this guy.....
One of the hottest peppers on the planet, sciencegeek.
lex. is why i mentioned it judy... i have a few games on the go with her.. i will have to go and see where exactly she is from.
they are one of the hottest of the hot peppers. I have to wear gloves to cut them up.
I thought the habenero was the hottest or the ghost pepper maybe they are related
i wear gloves to cut up any hot pepper -- learned the hard way
me too Geek!
traderkate: I am nelliekelley in lexulous and usually play in sowpods blitz at 7:30PM French time
Scotch bonnets are habaneros! hahah
lol!
me, too, as for the hard way
they look so cute and innocuous
Only 8 C's left...
i hate the c's
I am going for the list for these blasted last 4
when I buy them at the local market, the French ladies who have been to Africa, fan their bottoms about those peppers. They are very earthy here!
hilarious
this is such a funny place
okay clue me please for the first co 7/48!
we are not in Paris, after all, just a little countrey plad3e
Just out of my meeting - hey ruby - I still have not gotten that email - guess its coming by boat after all
judy.. where in pa are you? i am writing other judy to see if she wants more lex. mates...
Hi all, back for a chat. Finished the grid earlier <smug> so willing to give any clues if needed.
Schuylkill County
I need 19 of them sally
hi mom, it didn't go before, but I think it went now. It's not very interesting, but it's a serious photo
hello smug sally!
Hi Sally and Mom!
he CJ
clue for the ru 5/12
hi sally!
co 7/48???? *whines*
Fireworks! *collapses*
I tried to clue co7 but couldn't figure it out
hi Sally
woohoo Judi!!!!
Time to heat up some lunch. bbl
well done judi!
yay judi!
ru 5/12: if you've had a hard winter, the road might have a ru* + not out.
Co7/48: to prove wrong, to disaprove.
co7 against + re**** an argument means to disprove it
very nice judi
lost.....hopeless
Or: Co7/48: co + tubal wind instrument - an L.
ty Sally
*tubular*
tubal wind instrument???
there is no flute or clarinet here
co 7/48: co* = against + the Japanese sleep on a ***on plus final vowel
alt. parsing of co 7/8: slang for prisoner + first 3 letters of a bed/sofa convertible (popular with students and hippies) + vowel ...then plural for the 8
I'm going to have another drink; husbqand must be stumbling around the train station looking for his friend while I'm keeping the home fires burning!
Take the L out of one of those, sciencegeek, and you'll have it.
what is the drink of the day ruby
yay!!!!!!! Thanks for all the clues......
Thick as a brick here
co8 first one please
I suppose the friend doesn't expect you to be at Geneva airport again today?
have two judi... one for me =)
co 8 - plural of putting something into law
the 6 is the singluar
*singular*
Co7/48: Co + negative consonant + tubular wind instrument (not a clarinet). Long, silver, no reed.
I am missing a 5 lettered t word
Minus the L!
I have that instrument one - I need the first one
there's a babblet te 5/12
Mom - to enact into law - like the co4 of Hammarabi
that is the one I need Sally
evening all
so it means that I will not get it
Hiya, Sprite!
I saw a lovely clue for the te, science. Little Edward with two eyes
Hi sprite
brilliant clue for that babblet :)
what? little edward?
Nickname for Edward?
Co6/39: co (type of fish) + slangy term for not probably. Like: the odd are i*** that rubyfoo's husband will find their friend in the train station.
his name is Edward we call him Te*
i dont see it
Did you not have a little furry bear as a child?
*probable* Uhg. I'm probably making this worse with my clues.
yes,m it dont see the word in the grid
makes me *angry*
OK, take the three letters short for Edward, which might be the name for your little bear, and put a double vowel in the middle.
dont see a te* together - the * is at the bottom of the grid no where near the te
Te + double identical vowel + 4 letter of alphabet.
Second row T
back later
teiid
*4th* Uhg. I give up.
*Im going*
Yes, that is a good clue mom
whew ty done
THAT"S IT, MOM!!!!!
it is a real word
I needed that laugh - thanks
I think we all need a drink after that. Bye Sprite.
Yes, the te is a lizard
Sciencegeek, if you don't get it after being hit with that flying brick of a clue, there's no hope for you!
Also needlecase alert.
oh Mom you get lunch in the pb
hilarious just saw mom's "post"
Hi all! May I please have a clue for that H word?
Lunch in the PB with Ruby's cocktails!
Sorry...the single H word in the lower 1st collumn....
Thought you were going to ask for a clue for the te!
Which H word, caree? The Hy?
I have hy 6
He6 + plural: slang for tooshes.
Sounds like the laughing dog animal with hiccups
TY! Thought I had tried that one!
Fair warning, there's a Co7/32 word that uses that same double vowel in the middle. It's pure evil.
Okay. I'm outta here. My brain is full. See you kids tomorow! *POOF*
bye judi
bye judi
struggling with laughing dog... know the animal... can't see the hiccups though
first four letters the same, then first two letters of frozen water, kate
First four letters of laughing dog, then end with the last two letters of how you go when you have hiccups
(just passing through, really working...) *poof*
ty... got them now... out of practice here :(
sounds like another word for clean (minus the g)
Quite a few words in this grid end with same two letters, Kate
nasty... i saw someone comment there was a co word with double vision...
Yes, co plus a number before ten but with double vowel in the middle
scooped that clue right up, t sally
er... ty sally
It's apparently the poisonous ingredient of hemlock.
need a un6 - have the one with the cold ending - need the other please
that would be un6/33
Not liking some terribly much
someone
There are two un6/33s, that's the first
clue for un6/33
I just gave it, boo. Not liking someone much
I cant think anymore - taking a break - will look with fresh eyes later - thanks all
i think i will take mom's lead...i'll be back, still 46 to go
I have to go and do some things, too. Will probably pop back later.
clue for the second un 6/33
not there yet, boo
fireworks
un + last half of the name of a major ocean Pac****
Congrats and wtg! So how did you find it Boo?
wtg Boo
just kept l;ooking
it jumped out at me
Hopefully that will happen to me when I get there. I glanced at it for you, but could only find the un 5.
Oh, I just saw Ormal's clue ... thanks!
ty ormal, i've been looking for it for ages. and hi all
yw...I still don't see the other un6/33, but I figure I'll see it eventually.
can clue it if you want.
Not yet thanks. I saw one that said not nice, but I think I'm being dense today, so have moved to other words for the time being.
I will accept the un clue please.
i'm stuck on te5/12, if anyone can help
te + double vowel (same one) + a consonant
te + me + part of self according to Freud
vn sprite! I like that one
:)
ty, both of you. no wonder i needed a clue.
Our beloved rothweiller, King, who we have had for 10 years was put to sleep this afternoon by the vet. I am so so sad.
oh, soodlebum, you must feel awful - it's so dreadful losing a pet
{{{{{{{{Soodle}}}}}}}}}} May King be as happy in dog heaven as he was with you.
awwww soodle sorry
I cant see the grid for the tears in my eyes.
((((((((((Soodle))))))))))))))! I'm SO sorry!!!
BIG HUGGS(((()))
had he been ill for long, soodle?
So sorry to hear about King.
He was limping since last Friday, GG. Not in any distress, but quite lame. The vet said he had bone cancer and if left untreated, he would have had a horrible death. The kids and me are just bereft.
so very fast too... such a big shock. But you did the right thing for him, small consolation for yourself though. *hugs*
I think I will abandon today's puzzle. I just cant concentrate. Thank you all so much for your support. It means a lot. XX
take care soodle
look after yourself
am thinking of you
fireflies, am off again. Bye all.
bye soodle and sprite...
Bye sprite and soodle.
bye and congrat
ss
... and Fireworks ... with thoughts of King interspersed

bbs
congrats merk
ty ... see you in the new grid tomorrow
byeee
hi jo
hi all....any clues please for co8 x 2 please?
congrats, merk. i got my fireworks just as soodle was telling us about her dog
wtg guern
co+ makes into a god but without the efirst
first e
don't understand guersney
It is the plural of the co6 coming right after it. To co**** or to make into a system.
not surprised you don't understand my clue, flask, my fingers ran away with me
{{{((( SOODLES)))}}}
the other one is the plural of the co7 before it, which is co+re**** a theory
scrabby in here today?
haven't seen her crossy
still haven't found it!!
co + homonym of refuses to obey commands.
brb
i am sorry for the loos of you beloved pet (((soodles)))
i haven't seen scrabs
Sorry to hear that Soodles, been there, done that know how you feel
just wanted to tell her my sleep test resuslts came back and they diagnosed severe apnea(as if i didnt know lol) they are finally going to set me up with a cpap machine so i can sleep at night
So very sorry Soodles.
crossy givse soodles big brother hugs
i need some of that crossy lol
lol joanne
That really helps, Crossey - my brother uses one, and it has made an unbelievable difference.
i cannot wait helen
govt picks up around 80% of the cost
nice
i pick up 2-3 hundred
Bet your wife cannot wait either. When my grandfather got on one many years ago he quit snoring like a freight train.
I think I will just go and pet each of the cats. One of them is growing frail, and they are both old, so one day not that far away I will be in Soodles' shoes. Good luck all.
i snore so bad that the cats leave the room
how can you have a productive tax paying worker not sleep and pay his taxes to them, haha
lol
are your cats still under 9 years of age helen?
and she didn't have to worry about him not breathing correctly so she could sleep too. :D Glad to hear you are getting your machine crossy.
yes ormal wife was saying just now that she ends up standing vigil most nights to poke me to get me breathing
sorry to be a pest, but are there any other clues for co8 x 2 please?
Flask - co + you and I are ***ferent people + when it's raining, the sk*** are often cloudy.
co* (a type of fish) + a 2 letter word that means perhaps or maybe + the sometimes vowel for co 6/39. Plural for the co8/65.
Then, the criminal or co* man + for ***ur* reference, this is the second co7 (pluralize it for the 8)
that clues helped me too uniquity
just read back - hi all :) - what a relief Crossy! Glad to hear you're getting some help
hi NB how are you?
thanx to both of you!
*runs in and snoggles NB half to death*
hi, Ormal! I'm great thanks...just got back from work so the evening is mine now :D how about yoU?
half to death Eva?! which half?! ;0
ooh my typing is terrible today. *;)
I'm wonderful. Kids are at school, and I have no chores or errands to do, so afternoon is mine for a little longer. :D
ahhh, there is nothing more precious than free time...daydreaming is a luxury I miss :)
why should you miss it?
ive missed you this week, dearest. :)
because usually there's a thousand and other more productive things to be doing!
oh I know Eva. if only there was more of me to go around ;) no, thanks, that's so sweet! I've been busy this week - hanging off Leo since he has to go away for a week soon
aww, wheres he off to?
Babbling is as close to alone time I've had in well over a year.
Up North - something to do with work. All the way to Leeds! The North, basically, is a different country..
Ormal - really? I don't generally get babble time alone - Leo takes great pleasure in coming up behind me and smugly listing all the words I've missed ;)
Hi All - help with the TO5 please - I have the soda
LOL NB!
gin and to***
oops nm me
i'd like to try a gin and to... right about now
with a lime please
we have some of our relatives from england heading over. they will be arriving monday, i think, and staying for a few weeks. (joining us at the beach too!) care to hitch a ride over with them? ;)
wonders if a gin and ton*** would help me find tha last 5 words
crocodile to...e
the australian guy that is
help on hy6,30 please?
wow, what happened to my spelling there? eek, going to dive back into the grid
dundee
any mention of a beach and I'm there! plus I could meet your man, make sure he's good enough for my Eva ;)
but spell it to...e
like a laughing nasty animal
Angel, I assume hy6 to mean like a laughing animal featured in The Lion King
would love to have you + leo. it would be like the british invasion!
I got it thanks
ok-thx
Fireworks finally...and away I go! Take care, all!
the first un6/33 please
un and pac.... ocean
we will have to fold ourselves up into suitcases to get there though - I should be alright, but mister 6'5" might have a few issues ;)
un and not liking
i will tell the relatives to bring the big bags. ;)
un and 5th word nancyboy just said too lol
oops sorry close to it
the hy 6 eludes me
I have that one - guess it the second one then
then it was my fist clue
hy6 is like clean cross hyg****
nasty aussie animal called the laughing Hy*** but change the last vowel to an ending that is common through this puzzle
un and the pac.... ocean
just one big bag Eva, I generally manage to slide into the overhead lockers ;)
oh, i believe it, NB -- from those pictures ive seen, i think i need to feed you well if ever you come to visit! :P
I think you can feed me what you like but I won't grow in the direction I want - UP! lol
ty was the last letter that threw me
if you head that far nb,come up here for a day and ill fill you with one of my famous canadian north woods breakfasts
if thats the offer, i will be joining him!
**FIREWORKS** wow, that was a workout
lol
ill order the applewood smoked bacon now then;0
yaa for mnh!!
LOL Eva! I would like to see what this breakfast business is all about. It's been a while since I've been up early enough to enjoy it ;)
and you know NB - you will pass through my area on the way to Crossys so must stop in for a big Mom ((hug))
nb,for shame, breakfast is THE meal of the day
oh, im sure youre up at the right time -- you just think of it as the end of the night instead of the beginning of the day. ;)
hi all, and my phantom for the day is fruition
Aww Mom! I would love to do that - go on a hugging tour of the states ;)
thats right eva,he should be nice and perky at 06:00 EST :)
LOL! Eva and Crossy...Eva's right; 6 is when I normally get in. Beginning of the day...huh. For the birds maybe.
i think nb is 6 hours ahead so it will feel like a nice brunch for him
<---- gets up at 6am for work
now brunch I do ;) Eva...I have to run get a cup of tea, to steady myself from the shock of that
<----- gets up when wakes up
i used to get up at 05:15 when i was running my own station
:/
see/ gwen has the right idea
and by "gets up" i mean something more like "drags Eva-resembling corpse out of bed that doesnt actually awaken until about noon"
oh my god Crossy...my eyes are watering. I'd have a lot of problems with that...
was nasty
i get up at 6 so that i can be at work by 7:30. then i leave work at 3:30 and am home by 4:30. thats time to take my fashion photos and cook dinner by the time dear Chris gets home (at about 5:30). then we have the whole evening to do anything we want. :)
need a rug rat or 2 to fill those idle hours eva:))))
wakes up every morning at 4:20 when hubby gets up, immediately rolls over and goes back to sleep, since I usually don't go to sleep until 2:00-4:00. Gets back up at 6:20 and starts the day ruefully.
which I guess would be sleep, Eva! LOL
not yet -- i still have chris. ;)
i normally dont get to bed until 10 at the earliest... usually 11 or so.
If I've been working one of the big night shifts, I generally get in about six, six thirty in the morning...go to sleep, get up at noon, go for an hour's run and then see what portion of the day I have left before going to work again ;)
i dont run unless something is chasing me.
lol eva
lol, last time i ran i think bush senior was doing his thing or regan, can never remember..anyways ill run if someone is shooting at me but that is it
best thing i ever did, as far as lowering stress level, was to get rid of alarm clock
finally fireworks...that di5/14 was eluding me for a long time
I leave the house about 5:15 AM for our long walk and I am surprised at how many dog walkers/runners are out there. We have a whole community.
living solely by the bodies natural internal clock is the best way indeed
yaa for ormal
i have been wanting to try out the C25K running program...
lol running programme? last time i ran for exercise i just used my feet lol
look down the road,run four miles,turn aroun,repeat
C25K trains you to go from a non-runner to be able to successfully (and safely) run a 5K in a matter of weeks
:)
hahaha! well it's fun to run around london...plenty of stuff to see. I run with Leo, which is a great pace-setter...with his stupid long noodle legs, he makes sure I stay fast!
i know im in the zone when im throwing up on my nikes
hello everybody
LOL Crossy! I tend to turn back before I hit that part...
I loved to run and for many years ran like a racehorse. I blew out my knees, injured my back and now have foot problems (waiting to see podiatrist to see what the problem is). I miss running.
even when i was NBs age + in the best shape of my life (performing a 22 minute dance routine outside in florida summer sun) i still couldnt run a single lap around the track.
Hi Ruby. Our dog King was put to sleep this afternoon. I am so very very sad.
Oh, soodle, I am so sad for you
Prayers and hugs and sympathy, soodlebum.
That is the saddest thing!
oh Soodle, that's awful! (((hugs)))
How old was he?
eva, how could you manage to do that?
((((soodles))))
Its all a bit surreal at the moment. I just cant believe we will never see him again. He was 12 - a big lump of a Rothweiller, daft as a brush, but part of the family.
There is a moment when you don't have a choice, I think
i grew up as a dancer. i could do that with minimal effort. but running... the repetition, nothing to think but "oh god, im out of breath...sweaty...tired..." not do good there...
Rufus was just 10, but his arthritis had made him lose his dignity, and he couldn't get his hind end off the floor. I held him in my lap and the vet came to the house. It makes me cry just to think about it.
I see. That's why my daughter does cross country and is hating her season of track this year.
I understand how attached we get to our dogs
The kids are truly devastated. My daughter came home from college a day early when she heard. She just wont stop crying
Eva, at 42 I became a runner and could run, after 2 years for an hour or more. My son made me a rock and roll tape and it was just like dancing.
Running gives you time to think, though. Plus, I used to be on the football team (I'll give everyone a second to absorb that) so used to running around for no reason!
Soodle, I am crying for your dog. I understand
Soo, I'm so grateful that you came here to your Babble family. {{ gentle hugs }}
I still miss running
Thanks guys, for the support. Much appreciated.
ruby -- im hoping to get into it! its a great workout, and you can do it anywhere!
so very soory to hear that Soodle
hello all
sorry even
NB -- i knew there was a reason i adored you -- chris is a goalie. soccer/football players seem to be what i love. ;)
eva: I used to travel with my work and ran in about 25 different cities, all over the world. It was wonderful
Hello afternoon all, sooodle my condolences, very sorry about your pooch.
do5 pls
hello, rtd
nm
the thing from the sweet shop peri?
got it red, ty
do5/bad breakfast
bbs
I loved it, Eva! Once the rest of the team adjusted to my presence I had such fun with them all...interrupted by the occasional match ;)
gd night everybody
how do you get past that feeling of being out of breath? thats always been my hurdle...
Eva you need to run slower, then you will not feel out of breath and will be able to run longer. thats a common running problem.
chris loves english football -- it is almost ALWAYS on the tele at our house. his favorite team is *mutters under breath*Newcastle*mumbles*
the feeling of being out of breath and the lungs being on fire can be overcome by training your breathing and pacing yourself
red -- i feel out of breath walking up a flight of stairs...lol
couch to 5K is a good place to start then.
lol
thats the program ive been talking about. :)
I have just been able to restart training and it is very very unpleasant after being out for those 6 months.
LOL Eva! Oh I differ from him there - I can't watch it on TV. I distracted by the players and end up just mocking their various hairstyles and moaning about their disgusting habit of spitting everywhere...
i know several people who have used it.
NB -- i just make fun of all their names. i always mis-hear how the announcer pronounce them, and i entertain myself with it. :)
Soodle, hugs and much sympathy to you -- such a hard thing to do :-(
i feel so motivated to go running right now! alas, im at work and have a class tonight, so i wont be able to run until at least tomorrow...
Une! Several were asking about you yesterday. Were you in the flood zone? My bro lives right outside Nashville.
lol Eva! we should watch a football match together ;)
red: what method did you use to time your run/walk intervals? i have downloaded a few podcasts, but nothing seems intuitive other than carrying a stopwatch! lol
ah - you reminded me, Eva. Before anything else, I better go vote. bbl!
hey, ch1212 -- yep, I'm in nashville but am very lucky -- no flooding at mi casa
over a billion dollars in damage to the city tho
eva, I have not used the program. My Dad is a marathoner, so I grew up on a track, most people I knew used their ipod in one way or another.
would love to NB! i have dubbed Viduca: "the duker" nicky butt = "icky butt" im sure there are more...heh
Thank goodness. Nor at my brother's place.
yay for Une Avodinging flooding.
hey, red :-)
But Eva in truth, I can not play any sport with a ball, I am terrified.
good news re your brother, ch1212
hi again
hi jmc
hey, jmc
sorry for your loss soodle
Une, do you know if Vanderbilt Cancer Center was okay? My bro was supposed to go in for radiation on tuesday, but I haven't heard if he made it.
you gwen.seems a 12 gutenberg bible has surfaced;)
info re Vanderbilt here: www.vanderbilt.edu/flood/medical-cente r-schedule
im the same, red. thats why i grew up a dancer! would love to find an easy way to time myself, if ever i get started on C25K...
12th*
oooh, thanks une! My brother is a typical guy -- doesn't communicate much :) I'll check it out. (zips out)
anyways off to work tc all..poof!
well, if you are remotely social, some shoe stores offer groups with a pacer who does the timing for you, and you get to meet people.
im social, and would love to meet people, but im also lazy and would rather just walk out the front door + get going. if i have to travel somewhere, it just wont happen.
bye crossy
ch1212, looks like oncology was shut down at least a few days: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRmkNt6k_vA
if i didn't have to drive my sister to the gym i would never go
I just saw that, Une. Dang. I hope that doesn't impact his treatment regimen much ...
i thought they had podcasts that tell you when to run and wak..
yeah . . . but at least they're keeping people informed . . .
i have downloaded a few and only given them a cursory listen, but im not sure i heard anything obvious that let me know when to change pace. i may need to actually TRY it out...heh
True, and I'm grateful for that. Well, prayers to everyone in the flood area who are struggling.
thanks, ch, soooo many people are affected but at least the greater community is pitching in in a big way to help out
must run -- back later for 61 more words . . . ugh
bye, une.
Oh my, I thought they actually said like walk now, run now etc. I was wrong.
Oh reminder for Americans, this weekend, on the 8th the letter carriers will be picking up FOOD for local food banks.
rats, I murdered chat.
I'm here...
sorry to kill off the entertainment gail.
no no i am at work as usual and occasionally my silly staff thinks i should pay attention to them
I'm working on actual work at the same time.
I will leave something out for my letter carrier but I usually take food to meeting for the food bank
I have to remember to do that, too. Quid loves our mailman and likes it if we walk along with him for a while and help deliver mail.
I went and got some baby food today, that always sort of warms my heart to know for sure I am feeding babies, who else would eat strained peas?
sorry, i was foraging ebay for wedding stuff. ;)
Now, anyone else finding this grid difficult????
i havent even made it halfway, but im fairly certain im finished!
hi all, have we got a difficult one today?
yes, I have 55 left. I want a large large fluffy grid for friday!!!
i'm needing an easy one, brain fuffled
not been on for a while easing myself back in...........i hope
not liking this grid, not good to get my brain back working
almost time to head out for the day. such a lovely day outside!
Hi All - just passing through- this was the worst grid for me in a long time
just wasnt much fun
hi mom, glad it's not just me then
Hope you are safe and damage free, Une
I can try and help with clues if you want
i'm nowhere near yet thanks momneed
thanks for trying tho
hi BR Mom and frog
hi jmc
I understand from earlier posts that une has been damage free
How are you doing, jmc?
another day mom?
Hi JMC - well tomorrow is the dreaded going away ceremony for my family that is being deployed
i was all furfluffled yesterday and the day before but okay today BR
oh mom you break my heart!
you having trouble in us, haven't seen on news??
you guys ok?
reminds me of getting on the plane for vietnam
they are just kids - niece is 25 - her husband 24 and brother 19. No trouble here but keep sending our kids to Iraq
I have a stalker of sorts and I thought he had followed me into babbleland when I found he had started friending my minor nieces and nephews
flooding and tornadoes in Tenn. frog
oooh not seen it on english news yet, soz guys
thats horrible jmc
Is Une okay, jmc?
yes une is okay BR
I am so far removed from Tenn, I am sorry to say I forgot of their troubles. Une was fine yesterday, did not suffer any damages.
well its better than being deployed or my house flooded out i guess
that sounds scary jmc, was it a fase alarm about stalker?
thats still scary
i am happy to report that he does not appear to be in babbleland. But he is real enough in the real world
jmc, this is too much bad excitement.
their unit is supposedly going over to train the iraq troups in security. It is a military police division.
Do the authorities know about him, jmc
I will say a prayer for them, Mom
stalkers are usually taken seriously these days, it's so prevalent
you would not have recognized me on Tuesday when I realized this SOB had tried to contact my nieces and nephews and my babble friends
unfortunately he has not crossed a legal line yet BR so there is really nothing I can tell the police
jmc, can you get rid of stalker? in a legal way?
but to facebooks credit they booted him
jmc, if you report every small infringement, does it not build up?
hi all, back from voting...Jmc, if you are feeling harrassed, it can help to get police involved early - for the sake of the record if nothing else
my thought too, Frogface :)
won't ask who you voted for nancyboy
Proud of NB for voting.
well maybe i should consider that. it is just that I can't really say that he has done anything except consistently lie to people about me and tried to spy on my life
yeah NB for voting! I approve!
hi all
but should be reported anyway jmc
police will keep a record
i am sorta a public figure so I haven't minded but the trying to contact the kids in my family freaked me out
there are laws against slander, defamation etc
They do keep records jmc, especially if you can start with a proper detective who can then keep tracks on the situation.
jmc, knows the law better than we do I imagine.
unfortunately the cops usually dont want to involve themselves in that - they consider it a civil matter
it all builds up to make a case surely
yes but mom you have to show damage and so far few believe him over me
well i will explore that and I thank you all for the support and advice
i hope you sort it out jmc, not nice for yo
the babbleland community is always there for me and I appreciate it
and mom i will hold your family in the Light (Quaker for I will pray for them)
I so agree this is a great community - the babble family
I like that we don't even have to agree about stuff and we still care for each other
sounds lovely
thank you ladies ;) but Jmc has a point...it is so difficult to get the police involved with these things. Hitch-hiking a few years ago, I got into a sticky situation which I managed to rescue myself from, but when I went to the police there was nothing that could be done at all
you are part of it too frogface!
thanks jmc - will be lighting my candle tomorrow - here we go again - seems my niece just got back (4 years) and off she goes again. She already said she is not resigning.
taught me to never hitch-hike though...particularly not at night!
i came on regular last year, but i've had a few problems and brain freeze jmc
I am starting to keep a file and my son and sister know
good lesson nb
i never let brain freeze interfere! lol the grid is secondary!
I don't agree with anyone, ever since my favorite wall went off with the ceiling I have been quite cantankerous
smart decision for such a cutie like you NB
that must make it quite drafty BR!
i mean good lesson hard learnt obviously nb sorry
*hands BR an umbrella in case it rains*
drafty? army talk again
awww i'm sure you aren't br
*and a blankie for when it gets cold*
quite Frogface - I naively assumed that because I was a boy I'd be alright. Silly, silly. I got away safe but figure lightning does strike twice in the same place - if you're too stupid to move away!
lol no draft in the U.S.
so you moved away nb, clever lad lol
nb clearly has his moments of brilliance
I was number 115 forty years ago
well i'm sure you aint cantankerous br, drafty you may be lol
or drafted..
he was.
How are you doing HT?
lol! yes ;) well I'd never put myself in that situation again - nobody would. If you're in a car with a stranger, and they punch the locks down and pull up in a dark area - something is clearly wrong!
I've been better, but have also been worse.
you'd guess so nb, hope it turned out ok?
Hope you get better ... sick?
115 was a pretty low number in some states -- my brother was number 2 and got an ulcer just thinking about it
Just an ugly blue mood, but it is starting to lift a bit.
hang around here and it is hard to maintain a good solid blue mood
Not entirely true jmc, but Babble helps.
*pulls out pink paint to help change red's mood*
oh yes, thank you Frog :) fought my way out. It was the feeling of "oh god, I'm ****ed" that I wouldn't repeat though!
It certainly helped me through those first MISERABLE days of not smoking
many not strong enuff to do that nb, glad u had the strength
scary wots out ther
did I ever tell you about the time i had a gun put to my head NB?
e
scary jmc!!!
it was because of a similar dumb choice of mine!
well thank you :) more to do with the element of surprise I think - I was so on edge that I reacted at the first move!
Jmc - not in detail, no! Care to now? We can switch dumb-choice stories :)
phone brb
i'm a chicken who don't take risks, lucky or unlucky for me lol
i look 7 times before i cross road lol
so then frog can yo tell us why the chicken crossed the road?
I guess it's all down to luck, Frog ;) there are good and bad aspects to living either way! we all just do our best really
to get to kfc templeowl llmao
:D
i'd prefer to be happy medium i am too careful
nobody perfect i'm sure
I got to run babble friends - daughter has softball game - tis the season
hope she wins
my ey4 are closing bbl
sleep well
thanks, me too. This will be her last year playing - then she will be too old - bye all - poof
no TO! Don't go!
I always think Noid should be a word.
ok.nm. later skaters.
whay up red
whatup
co 7/32? and hi all
co and number before ten and slip double vowel in there
ty Joanne, never would have gotten that
yvw
bizarre word, Joanne!
i would have never gotten it but for the clues lol
ok 6 left and neeedddd the list
and done
byeee
hi all :)
Congrats Joanne!
still stuck on the co 7/32??? waH.....
HEY FUZZYBUNNY- i have a sister in houlton and one in caribou
Hi Sammy, I live in Jackman and Carrabassett Valley. We are about 4 hours from your sister.
you may have heard of my sister and brother-in law- check out utube ed degenhardt- he got the maine restaraunter award this year.
Sammysmom - the clue you are looking for was just given.
That is quite an honor. I used to work in hospitality in VT. What is the name of their restaurant?
Hello Fellow Babblers! How are you all today?
Howdy Nef! I'm great!
he owned several mcdonalds- they have 9 adopted kids- and have done lots of things
the u tube peice is an interesting thing and touches on a few of the things they have done
Sounds like your sister and brother-in-law have had a good life.
Hi fuzzy and sammy.
How are you Nef?
leaving for a minute to check out the you tube video from sammy.....
I'm doing okay. Waiting for a car to come (that we just bought). It's a used 2007 Toyota Rav4
(I'm off doing the same)
Sammy, it would be an honor to meet your sister and her husband. I was not able to get the video to play past 1:35 min, I really want to see the rest. Bookmarked it and will try again later. Sounds like that award was well deserved.
Nef, I am sure you will enjoy your new car, hope you have great times in it.
yup- they have worked very hard for a lot of years
Wow! It sounds like they deserve that award, sammy!
yes hef- and she is so pleased- she has recieved several major awards and gives him the vredit because he financed a lot of her projects and still is-
you might want to check her website- dawn degengardt and see some of the things she has done
thanks, fuzzy. My DH is really struggling trying to get in and out of our Hyundai Elantra, his legs are cement columns (he says) and aren't working well (he has MS)
congrats on the new car nef- hope it works well for you and you dh
There, got to see the rest of the video. I have eaten at their McDonald's in Millinocket!
neat huh??
Very
tutes
oops, PB for me!
nope, it isn't a WORD, fuzzy
phew!
tews
But mine is! Off to PB!
no harm, I already have it! Short time in the PB
s'ok neff- i stocked the pbwith carrot cake and spiced tea just in case i had to go there- help yourself
thanks, sammy. <I'm digging around in there looking for choclits!>
I'm guilty of, occasionally, wishing this PB was a real place. I hear there's cabana boys.
I might have to visit it more often.
Hi, NB! How are you these days?
Is there AC yet in the PB?
i heard that too nb
yes, there's both cabana boys AND AC, red
ho haaaaaaa..... my tonk buddies are on the way!!! i love playing tonk!!
ok well tews then.
what is tonk?
what's tonk?
Oooh! Company for me in PB! Welcome red!
a card game- a type of poker... heard it was an old prison game but i m not sure... we only play for a quarter a hand so noone gets hurt and we have a lot of fun ... mostly ribbing each other-lol
Hi, Nef! I'm good as ever these days, thank you :) sorry, got side-tracked watching the election coverage on TV. How are you?
sounds like fun, sammy
yup... us old folks need all the recreation we can get
I played a game new to me with my sister-in-law in NC, it was called Bunko, played with dice and you had to ante 10 for the night. Had a lot of fun, renamed it drunko at the end of the night!
I'm okay, NB. Last time I saw you you were waiting to be seen in whatever you Brits call the emergency room (you'd cut your hand at work). How did all that tu** out?
lol fuzzy- soulds like fun!!
Ahh yes, the A&E - it's the quickest I've ever been seen in there. But I got some stitches (ewww) and some TLC at home (ahhh) so didn't turn out too badly at all! Thank you :)
so there weren't any injuries of any nerves or anything? Did you have to take sick days from work?
oh no, thankfully; just a few bits of glass to be picked out (not my favourite sensation I'm sure) and a nice big cut to sew up. I didn't take any time off work...just struggled on and was kind of inept for a few days ;) I only really hurt my pride - the people I work with found it hilaaarious!
Wow, that wasn't very kind of them!
/me wanders back in
it was my own stupid fault for sticking my hand where it didn't belong, Nef ;) that is, in the trajectory of a broken bottle!
Have to relinquish computer to the younger set. Back after dinner. Poof
how's everyone?
bye fuzzy
hi jes
I still don't think well of your co-workers, NB. (Then again, I didn't see the beginning of the story I guess)
Are you guiys all chatting cuz you're all done? I don't find this grid as easy as some...argh!
no, gadget, i'm chatting because i'm grid-blind and can't find any more words, and 'cuz Nef and NB are fun to chat with :)
Gadget, I chat because I chat! I'm not finding this one too easy either
ah Nef, my clumsiness is famous ;)
and Gadget...the chat is open but the grid is currently covered up with another webpage ;)
NB, speaking of clumsy; Dh and I were laying in the road last night due to it!
Lying in the road, Nef?! pray explain!
DH has been struggling with his MS recently. He's had a relapse and is having lots of problems with his legs. So last evening we were leaving the community center and I told him he should hang on to me. He did; and he lost his balance and went down, tripping me on his way down. I was laying on top of him; he was upset (steriod withdrawal causes short tempers) and I'm laying on top LAUGHING my head off!
oh Nef, what a shame! hope neither of you were seriously hurt!
Also, I don't want to sound like an ignorant young 'un, but I have to ask: what does 'DH' stand for?
HE'S trying to get up, I'm on top laughing hysterically and another (older) woman came to help. I told her we were okay, just I had to stop gigling and he needed to wait til I got off before he got up. Neither of us were hurt; but I'm sure we were quite the site!
OK good - I feel better;-)
DH is Dear hubby, NB
(or dearest Husband, or Dumb Head, or whatever. Depends on the mood; but usually Dear Hubby)
Lol Nef! Well I'm quite used to being a public spectacle myself, and I believe there's a lot to be said for it ;) 'Dear Hubby' is nice!
I'm just glad it was in front of the community center and not a bar! :-D
Gadget, how many words do you have left? Maybe we can clue each other (although I still have 65 words left)
Hahaha! reminds me of this joke: a man gets absolutely slaughtered at a pub, and tries to go out for some fresh air to sober up. However, he keeps falling over and so, realizing he must be drunker than he previously thought, he drags himself home, still unable to stand. The next morning, his wife says to him, "you went out drinking again, didn't you?" the man asks how she found out and she says, "you left your wheelchair at the bar again."
*groans*
gah. that is a horrible joke, NB
LOL! That IS terrible! (But I laughed!)
hence the groan, Jes!
are there REALLY more than 30 words in this grid?
However, as DH and I agree, sometimes if you don't laugh you cry. Wed rather laugh any day
jes, I have 36 that I've found
hmm. you're 9 ahead of me then
I've got to 48 and am forcing myself to hit the halfway mark
Such a touch grid though :(
GO Pinny! MUCH better than me! :-)
quite, Nef! I am trying to make that my policy regarding my family but finding it a struggle at the moment :)
Up to 50 now - just one to go before I can give up!
Oh! Done it! 51/50
yay pinny!
NB, give them time. It may take a while, but just be yourself
Pinny, don't quit! Use Licketys' list
there's some! up to 32 now
well that's the problem Nef - found out a few days ago that my dad's quite unwell. I figured he'd forgive me one day, but he needs time as you say..
off for an appointment, back shortly
what's the matter with him, NB?
bye jes CU later
some troubles with his heart, Nef. I'm going to go visit him in hospital, but I'm so scared it's ridiculous!
NB, are you afraid he will get upset?
thing is, I'm scared that my presence will agitate him and make things worse in some way
yes Nef, that's exactly it
Dress "normal, act like you always have; but be sure and let the doctors and nurses be awarte that there is stress between you and let them decide if it's okay
They can help you decide if it would be wise for you to see him. OR, they may let you see him while he's asleep
Ahh, I forgot you're a nurse! Looks like I came to the right person with this problem :)
okay, I gie up, what is the tu 5?
got it, nm
When I worked CV-ICU, we often had situations that we had to make decisions about like this
I can imagine, Nef..what did you usually decide was best? since I guess, I'd be seeing him for selfish reasons, since I know, really, that he won't want to see me. So is it really wise?
They can let you see him while he's sleeping if he has a bad temper. You would feel better and he'd be no wiser
Okay. Thanks, Nef! I feel slightly more at ease now :)
However, there were times when a visitor would eave a card or small gift (flowers not allowed in the un**s), and when the patient woke and saw that the visitor had been there, it could break the ice
I don't know about your Korean culture, though, so --I don't know
Shoot! NB, I need to go pick up my daughter at the bus stop. I'd like to stay, but I have her car!
I dunno, Nef. We're talking about the man who cuts me out of family photos, here. Thank you so much for your advice, though - very helpful :)
I'll be back in an hour or so
hey all
no problem! thanks for all the help :)
hi, Peri!
back again. ah, NB, that's rough
hi again, Jes :) yes, there are some decisions to be made
first ni5/10 pls
whoo! made it to 40!
NB, do other family members still talk to you? they might be better able to say how your da would take it if you come visit.
hi peri! the only one i have is the pl. of ni 4/4
ni 4/4 "modern" spelling of the hours of darkness
Hi all -- just got a little over half way last night
good for you, Jes! And ummm, not really - just my little sister. I asked her when she told me, but she just wasn't sure. And of course, she was very upset, too...
ah. hmm. i dunno then, other than to agree with Nef, maybe the nurses can tell you when he's sleeping and let you in then.
I think that's as good as I'm going to get, Jes, especially since my little sister isn't supposed to be in contact with me. ugh, how complicated :(
co 7-8 combo please?
plodding along here, even with the list it is not a nice grid
tu5/14 pls
don't have it yet, peri
nm - a long shirt or dress
type of cap for winter
ah -- ty peri
yw
ha shows you what i know
anyone have the co 7-8 combo?
and sorry bout your troubles nancyboy
co vict and wood instrument minus the l and plural
nan if you are puzzled about something you are con*****, change the last consonant and then make it plural
ty peri
glad you got it nan
nancyboy you are chinese right??
ohh korean
fireworks here
off to play scramble
fathers of either are very traditional and that's hard to change
*wakes up* thanks, Joanne :) yep, Korean originally - sort of a man without a country now though. I'm English as they come!
yay, peri!
congrats peri
nancy i have a chinese guy working for me and son not wanting to be in canada so went back to china and now back in canada and father still not happy
even tho his son got a job, but because he didn't get his schooling
i have a son who lives in a cave in the basement but happy he's not in trouble or in jail...
very different opinions on how our kids should be
you're right there Joanne! But I wonder, if we kids had been any different, would you adults have loved us so much? ;)
hi all, I can not believe, i am still NOT half way!!!
I mean not in my case, as obviously the answer is yes :P but other cases
you are suppose to love your kids unconditionally
lol red hi
god that word don't look right?
Joanne, I see "kids" age 32 and beyond who still call thier Moms for a ride home after ending up in the ED being arrested for drunk & disorderly, and I am never really that surprised if the parents dont show up for that!
red i was lucky there somewhat
just dragged my daughter out of a hotel room partying with guys to old for her
I always wonder what happened to these adults that they didnt really transition into adulthood...
her boyfriend still plays with his game on phone??
he's 32
playing on the phone is one thing, making your parents take a lot of responsibility for you at over thirty is just bizarre.
I play a lot of on line games....like, errr babble.
well not his parent but we gave them a home and the game thing...well if you work it's different
tg he finally got a job
work, essential. I am glad he has a job as well.
ni 7?
nancyboy..you won't change your dad but just be happy
craftiest
ty joanne
yvw
nancy you still there??
hello all! *mama hugs at Nancy Boy* (are you eating right?) *stern mama look at Leo*
just about, Joanne :) just thinking everything over - recieving lots of good advice! I'm just scared though, really!
hi stid
hi stid
hey jes.
Stid!! 'course I'm eating right :)
hmph. I think you are getting thin. Or it could be my old eyes.
but thank you, Joanne, for the concern :) very sweet of you!
you will be ok nancy
and you are very welcome
I really hate the grid.
Nancy Boy, I will offer some advice, though I am late into the conversation and don't know what has been said today. --> Stay proud of your ethnic heritage. Stay connected. Young people are looking up to you. And some of us old people are looking up to you, too.
Hi gang
hey DR! (((hugs)))
DR Hello!
Hi Stid and Red ( Hugs)
my dad is a little baby and i dissed him about 5 years ago, but life is short and i went to visit him... found out he was in hospital and now we talk
in other words, us ol' folks have to be nice to you kids, since you'll be pickin' our nursing homes *lol* hi, everyone!
Hugs all round to everyone.
hey welki! brb *tea water is ready*
hi again welk
Hi Welki
Wlki hello, still snowing?
good advice, Stid :) and very sweet words! I needed those; bit of a rough time :)
it was a little while ago .. sun is trying to make a brief appearance now
brave lady welki.
brave?
Cold weather makes me rather afraid.
Announces that she has finally crossed halfway!
i'd rather the cold than heat any day ... icy roads, now that's another story
woohoo RED!!!
so I gather, kiddo. (((more hugs))) keep on keepin' on, and know that many of us have been through similar times. It's not pleasant, but it does build character.
go red go!
co 7/32, please?
STID!!!!
hi gang!
and we are great bunch of characters !!!
codifies
oh for petes sakes
Hi Feather and Nan
I really feel sorry for the Albertans who are getting all the snow today.
good clue!
co and number before ten and slip a double vowel in there
Welki, I think I love you!
hey feather! ((((hugs)))) *thanks welki by putting german choclit cake in PB*
i'm something else, eh? LOL
Thanks Welkie
*takes one look at welki's slip, and decides to not do grid*
as long as you're at it, try the singular
haha welk
??? Alberta? snow? what is happening in Quebec? *worried daughter look* my folks are driving to TAdoussac tomorrow...
ty joanne -- that's a new one
joanne, still can't see the pics .. says you have 31, but i can only see 2
how are you feather? how are the boys?
*!* ta da *!* -- thanks for the help :)
cold in toronto but no snow in site stid
Its so hard for me to understand that its still snowing, It was 91 today. bit uncomfortable.
congrats cyb
YAY Nan!!!!
good Job Nan !
thanks Joanne, then I shan't worry.
i have a favor to ask. i created a project at donorschoose.org, a website for people to donate to classrooms. i'd appreciate it if anyone can help spread the word to any forums you belong to!
http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/pro posal.html?id=390984 that's my project
kids are good. one is asleep, the other is hollering "mo' milt!" (more milk)
looking at weather channel now
I love the project feather! I wish I could be more useful than just spreading the word...
don't know about quebec weather, stid -- but that's a long way from Alberta
that's ok stid! no worries.
I will have to phone my son, who thinks Calgary is God's country, and rub it in :)
rofl... is that one getting ready to grow AGAIN?!?
LOL nan!
not again...STILL.
red, we've had snow in july .. up in the foothills and mountains, it's not uncommon to see snow all year long (sort of neat, actually ... can be hot in the city and sunny and snowy less than an hour away)
he's shooting up like a...dare i say it? weed.
:-D only 15 more years (or so) of that, feather!
I really dont like snow. i went to the University of Rocehster in NY, and we had a lot then. I think I just prefer the palms
it stops Stid?
I am quite hopeful it will at least slow down
and daniel's becoming such a big boy too. very independent and much more confident since he's started EK!
um... for one it stopped years ago (shy of my height). for the other... still going, but slower!
they do mature fast sometimes, don't they?
I just hope summer arrives to the east of us before the end of the month when we have promised to drive over for our granddaughter's dance recital.
good to hear though I believe that he will be taller than me
you are welcome to my summer..
anyone want clues before I leave?
if anything stid ...rain
it really has gotten warm quickly. but....it is not so bad.
they sure do
I am short, he is not happy to have stopped early, but not much one can do with heritage. Many of our ancestors were hobbits...
I think I will just keep my own summer- thanks Red
no thanks, red -- too hot and muggy for me
for NBT I need the O and the H above the B. any help?
You re related to Gamdolf??!? How did I miss that
Hi gang -- stid -- forecast for Tadoussac is sunny but chilly (9C, 48F) with the odd shower in the next few days
od 4 -- like a poem
I like NORMAL Washington summers... not the weird So. Cal-type we had last year, and not the artic thaw type we had about 8 years ago...
jill coldd here holy
hey jill!
true cyber, it is humid, like a facial treatment each time you go out.
sunny will be nice. Mother is so looking forward to seeing your favorite beach, Jill!
thanks for the OD!
last summer was very odd and I hope this one is "more better"...
(I know it would be ODd... )
tomatoes haven't been the same for years
i miss good tomatoes
doug's home, better scoot
he 7 -- plural of the he 6 derogatory term for german soldier (wwII)
me too welk
store tomatos never taste the same.
*waves at Doug* bye feather!
or behinds
ohh try the small vine ones
about an inch around
thanks for the H!
I am now down to 66 and NBT.
yeah, they're not bad, but a good beefsteak tomato sandwich
omg welk yummmmmm
stid, the water at the beach is far too cold for swimming -- we used the lake in recent years. Back in the 40s there was a heated pool on the beach which belonged to the hotel -- it was dismantled decades ago and now the pool is up in the hotel grounds.
yay stid!
acidy
I don't think my parents swim any more, Jill. They just like to walk and watch the water.
but that fresh eath
but that fresh earthy taste
btw, finished a little while ago but can't linger here -- gardener here so I must attend to that.
enjoy Jill! tell her hello, and that I love how the garden is looking these days!
We used to go swimming every May long weekend (the start of the season), but it is much colder here now. Our daughter was born May 21, 1966 -- we had already had 2 weeks of 80F+ weather by then.
oh nice jill send him here next please
I was lurking a bit earlier, and I wonder if NB is still here. I just admire him so much and know he is a very courageous young man, dealt a rotten hand in life.
oh, that is way early for warm! but I forget you are further inland than we are, Nan
Jilli, are you in Tadoussac? My DH and I went there last summer sans kid and had one of the best kayak paddles ever. We stayed up in Petite Saguanay (sp). You are in a very pretty area.
he was jill
joanne, my gardener is a she, from England, and really rather an artist with plants.
wow jill i want a gardener too
I would settle for a housekeeper!
Nancy Boy will be okay. He is smart, creative, strong, and he has many friends. *stern mama look at the fates* he has a good future in store.
enjoy
wow, jill -- I could sure use a gardener like that -- come to think of it, I could use a gardener!
I would settle for someone to wash the dishes once or twice a week...
fuzzy, I'm not in Tadoussac -- it's my hubby's family's summer place, and now my son's. I'm on the other side of the continent, in BC (see my bio)
lol
un6- first one? please
I would like a dog groomer. Spent an hour trimming at the dogs toenails today, they have gotten very wonky and he got quite angry with me.
BC is beautiful too!
un 6: not enamoured with
un not happy with someone
ooooh! HALFWAY!!!
ty Nan! and Joanne
yvw
thanks Nan!
thanks cyber and Joanne.
yvw red
Contrary to our son's opinion, all we BC types know that we live in God's country :)
there are many lovely places on this planet. I shall never forget Puerto Rico, but I love my unkempt slice of the Puget Sound as well.
I agree Nan, love the skiing there.
must go and get something ready for supper -- haven't even decided what we are having yet! -- back at the flip

Yeah, halfway, finally. I don't know why, but nothing is coming easy on this board.
Hello, Sir PAV.
hi fb...and my dear Sir JC!
hey J.C.
Awww, thank you PAV. :) Hello, Nef!
soodle lost a doggie this day...sad....
top row greyed!
a moment of silence for soodle and doggie...
yes pav...
oh yes, isn't it sad? awful, but more humane than making the poor thing suffer on
there u are nancy
oh no that is very sad...condolences out to soodle
I don't know the details of soogle's dog
Oh, that's very sad - sorry to hear it. :( I've been there myself and it's one of the hardest things we have to face in life.
yes I so agree
As bad as losing any family member - they are such a part of our lives.
I'm around, Joanne :)
hugs to soodle. I can sympathize, we lost ours in Nov.
I know it took me a year to get over my first one, and ten years before I could get another...
sorry to here that fuzzy it is hard no matter when they go or why
tofutti is in the grid, but of course not accepted.
My husband pulled into the driveway and he ran under the truck, I still think of him everyday. My husband was very hard on himself.
just the shortened version
I like that word, fun to say.
how heartbreaking fb!
unfortunately accidents do happen and there isn't much we can do to ease the pain
mine was an extended illness, and he and I both knew it was time...
That is so hard, the knowing part.
16
I have suffered through the loss of many an animal family member I don't think it ever becomes an easy part of our life..takes such a toll on me I know
Keep up the good work Pav!
67 for me working on the big words hoping they give me clues to the little ones this time
sometimes it's really hard; but at the same time it's best to let them go instead of letting them suffer
suppsedly there's an hy...word...I only know Hyphen
well hiya all -
think of the laughing animal, pav
ooo is that the time...I better get dinner cooking no wonder I am getting hungrey see you all later (((hugs))) to all
<----can clue if needed. This is a Mean grid.
night Barb!
yes nef it is hard to be responsible at times
lol, Pav! think of hy + a glorious view, sc****
Yes, Barb. I have lost a partner when I was only 34. Had to watch him slowly die. The loss of anyone we love takes a real toll on us. A sad inevitability.
thanks lawyer...bet you 'd never hear those words together!
ok got that hy...is it a real word?
yes so true J.C. okay dinner making time see you all later maybe 67 to go
you'd be surprised - despiser of immigrants
Does that word mean one who laughs like one? :P
*poof* --- borrowed from Kaplan :)
can i get help with 1st to 5, pls?
despiser of immigrants, eh? ;)
not u, nb...no one here despises u
No one could despise NB. Not possible!
To5: it weighs a to* + another way to say two **
who, moi? personally, this came up in our condo community - I'm on the board of directors, and we've been dealing with hispanic folk who don't follow our rules, and now that we called their bluffs, we're "racist", and I've been called a wetback myself...
oh I don't know. Maybe my neighbours across the street? :P
I think there's a famous beach in Aus...Bo*** Beach for surfers? to5 sounds like it...
Naturally they'll try playing the 'racist' card, rather than take accountability for their actions. Easier!
I know nothing about surfing other than it needs water
And a surf board usually helps...
and if you saw me, you'd know I'm not racist...perhaps a bit of a di** (not inthe grid) but then my name is Peter...
I doubt they despise you, Jesse. Envy you, perhaps? ;)
My middle name is Peter - it's my dad's first name.
how about the stuff you put on cars to glue them back together...Bondo
or is it Bond-O
OK, ladies and gents, I am down to my last 4...any help would be appreciated. in 5/10; ni 5/10; ru 5/14 and to 5/12. Non surf-related clues preferred.

I agree, although I do miss adrenalin rush of wordsplay, and the people there as well.
1st co6/21: another name for hotdogs

yay doren!
Yippee Dorens!
I play a couple of games a day, I don't talk too much because there isn't time like there is here.
have to go finish up that application owl. i know my attitude stinks, but I just think that with so many people looking, they're not going to want to even interview someone with all the years I've got in... they could get people for nearly half my salary
did you get my email?
Dorens' power of positive thinking
that will be a problem
yup. will email you back. lawyer, i save my positive thinking stuff for people I counsel... when it comes to me.. it's kind of 50-50. and right now i'm losing

It is after ni 4/4 and here is my story of clues. I was un 6/33 of the grid today as I sat on my he 6/21 and babbled. It made me want to drink gin and to 5/12. I was just not that in 4/4 this grid. It was di 5/18 for awhile if I was going to be able to finish the grid. My ey4/6 were just not seeing many of the "C" words. If I hadn't finished this puzzle I would not have given a do4/5. I was not going to let grid ru 4/5 my day. But I did finish the grid with the help of my ni 4/5 babble friends and now everything is fi 4/7 and dandy. That is the great thing about chog,we all un5/12 and help each other out. It is hubby's tu4/5 to use computer. I am off to change my ic 4/5 then I'm off to watch tv for the rest of the ni 4/4. Bye to my fellow babblers!

yes, poops will enjoy your snuggle time, and bones is a good thing to snuggle up for.

okay, night night. enjoy bones.
!!!!!!!!
Heyas kids ..
hello tor!!!
hi tor. How's it going?
hi torg
Swell .. Fun day manning a trade show booth. ..
did you get good freebies?
do you LIKE trade shows, torg?
Got a few pens, shopping bags, a fridge magnet didn't walk around much ..
what sort of show was it?
It's actually my first time manning a booth ..
It's a scrap recycling show
Our co. is not so much in the scrap metal biz but more in the recycling aspect ..
sounds cool! but def not a show where you would get good swag....
It's mostly boring ..
Not much good swag unless you're a machine nerd .. Like me ..
doesn't recycling take scrap metal?
I shouldn't have started this grid .. I have like four words ..
my daughter used to do trade shows (which she wasn't crazy about) but now does the occasional tourism-related show and she loves those.
okay. I have to admit defeat and beg for help. does anyone have the lower lone h?
Well scrap metal is essentially recycling, but we're not so much in the scrap metal end of the biz and more in the paper and container recycling part of the biz ..
hy6.30 like being clean w/o the G
ahhh, lots of paper products out there needing recycling! i've got bunches in my house that needs to be shredded and made into something useful!
isn't it the pl of butts?
oops, yes it is, Nef.
yikes. thanks!
so, there is no hy6 then?
guess that's my sign to go to bed! night night everyone! see you tomorrow!
yes, there is a hy6.30. i didn't make it up. lol
Niters lbd ..
there is a hy6/30,but it's from the upper H
nite-nite lbd
*poof*
oh, yay, that new ad is on tv---the one about how stupid tampon ads are....It's SO FUNNY
??? I haven't seen it, Trifi. What is it for?
hang on ----you need to see this to believe how funny it is.
here you go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRf35wC mzWw
'k
Ha!
very -odd
I do have to agree that tampon ads are stupid though
May I please have a clue for fe5-16? Thanks
sorry, ga. I don't have tany fe's yet
evening all...
hey, Pini
fe5 = sounds like "pass out"
Thanks anyway, Nef.
I think it is HILARIOUS

Heya jmc

hmmmm, still thinking
recycling conference sounds interesting to me torg. . .
collanwald?
we are being welsh?
ni5 is similar to an onion?
*looks for a leek to pin to jacket*
oy...so it is
Lots of heavy equipment ..
with a twist or two
* sparklers *
really front loader types or manufacturing type?
just a bit of a twist, Pini
my daddy was a machinist, my uncle an electrician and my grandfather a carpenter -- i love that kind of stuff!
YAY, Pini! WTG!!!!!
my grandfather was a master machinist and worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad ;)
thx nef
Little bit of everything .. Claws, magnets, shears, new separation technologies, shredders, etc.
i am still not finding our allium friend
yw
my daddy started on the Southern Pacific because he wanted a way to visit a very cute girl in Houston from where he lived in DeQuincy LA
jmc, try most of the number before ten and not off
;)
wow. there is a little boy at my work who would have a STROKE if he could attend a conf like that, tor dear
and daddy was a master machinist too i just figured no one would know what i was talking about
I'll bet Trifs .. Loads of big boy toys ..
ty nef lookig for the allium would have never gotten me there
i love big boy toys! *revs her ticket me red motor*
is that the same shade as "pull me over" red?
my boy never called a front loader a bulldozer!
pretty much nef -- good thing i am an old lady or i would be in trouble all the time! lol
I learned a few machinist skills, but I was always more interested in the controls and electrical aspects ..
have to go run an errand here shortly...anyone need any clues?
no i am just settling in -- 73 to go
I still have 33 words left to find, Pini; but go run your chores as I can't seem to finish tonight
I have exactly 20 words now .. JUST a bit early for clue-begging ..
no worries...you can beg later! (I'll be back!) LOL
i always like how equipment was named almost exactly what it meant -- no guessing a rotor rotated, a spark plug sparked and plugged a hole
Hello
hi herin
how you all?
i is okay
hello friends! today I think I might make it to becoming a teacher after all... *watches the pendulum of emotion swinging wildly*
down to 38 earlier, should I list now?
*ducks the pendulum safely*

*stands at finish line with pompoms and confetti*
go jmc go!
Thanks so much, stidmama. That was the last one....see you at the flip.
YAY peach!!!!
whooo hooo peach!
did some one clue the first co8?
okay, I think I am falling asleep here.
if not could they clue it now?
first co 8 is the act of putting something into the law, a sort of "plural" looking word
it's actually the sort of plural of hte 6 that comes after...
ty stiddie
good luck jmc. good luck all! *poof*
bye stiddie
I am so confused. I would love a spare $300 right now and someone to help me with this grid
*looks in purse* $300 american or australian?
*month flies out of purse* nm
HEY, who stole my "dude?"
geez everyone thinks they have a lock on things! lol uni wanted to claim copyrights to foil caps!
hi nrkii long time no see how are things?
okay, Tor didn't steal "dude" from me, but he certainly let me inspire the thought
good, thanks
how are you jmc?
jmc...uni was looking for a lawyer to sue over the foil hat situation...
i had a rough week but things are on a more even kell now
i told uni to see me in court trader!
this grid is too ornery for me
JM Australian. ANd yes Moths fly out of my wallet too
=)
sorry I can't help herin
can someone offer help on the lower H, so I can give up and go to bed?
I am watching Oprah about finding your lost loved ones and I never lost my crap as much as these people did
she better find some one for free cus i am going pro se
you know anyone doing pro bono? she'd probably throw in a hat...
sorry nrkii
uh. . .can't think why i would refer her to someone. . . .
*shapes foil cap in form of barrister wig*
i have 4 h's nrkii...
two more than me :)
Foil hat would be cheaper than those horse hair wigs
prettier too (and less itchy)
okay... i'll try, i'm awfully tired...hope clues are okay... 2 stupid words..
please model the foil wig for us jmc
The wigs are not too itchy
*puts wig on and models*
Hello all -- I got my last 26 this afternoon -- horrible grid. I can clue if needed (I think)
hi jill what do you think of my foil barrister wig for when uni sues me?
okay nrkii... bear with me... first word sounds like slang for bum... second is the plural. he 6 / 21, he 7 / 32
back
would love H clues... I have he4/8 (size) and he4/9 (colors?)
ooh, thanks Kate
Sounds impenetrable, jmc! What's this all about?
he6 = butt
he7 = pl butt
he + (not out) + 2 vowels he + (not out) + 2 vowels > pl.
uni claims i owe her royalties for the foil caps
cool, stopping with 17 to go
hy6 -- think sanitary and remove the middle consonant
need bath and bed now
why are we being sued by Uni?
night all!
and I just saw the price of wigs geepers
bye nrkii
foil barrister wigs? What has uni got to do with those?
lovely foil wig jmc... she will be suitably impressed.
i!
lol no the foil caps i made the barrister wig to be ready if she sues me in babbleland for copyright infringement
HI osgma
lol JM
I'm corn fused
hi osgd
Will I get in trouble for the foil suit I made???
what foil caps? Sorry to be thick but I obviously missed something.
foil caps for when we read each other's minds ;)
*pulls out trunk full of foil caps* these
I have BBC World on, election results. So different from such reports in the USA.
seems like uni will be suing lots of babbleland citizens
You need to realise that foil caps enhance the brain waves
now you tell us, herin! LOL
the biggest difference is that it is over at the end of the vote count in the US and in Britain they are just starting to negotiate
Ah. I must be wearing some kind of cap which has prevented me from reading your minds, lol!
is it hung jill?
it depends onthe design of the cap
I told you that ages ago
I'm a little slow...
i seem to recall a particularly protracted vote count in florida not too long ago....
What strikes me is that it's all so low-key. We have the same sort of system here, but it's a bit more excited.
TK I just realised I haven't seen you here in an age
true but that was unusual
I am looking at UK google news
have come to lurk ocassionally
So far they think it will be a hung parliament. It's about 5 am there and they're still reporting results.
oks
But we're quite used to minority governments here and they seem alarmed.
I don't understand politics even though we are taught it in school
me either, herin
well it is midnite here and i am thinking that is late enough since i need to clean my house before work for the board member house guest
NIght JM
bye all 36 left
poor you, jmc!
they haven't had a hung parliament in 40 years... they are very worried.
take care, jmc...don't work too hard!
it would have been okay but i was looking for a wedding photo for my niece and. . .well. . . . there are photos everywhere now!
happy cleaning jmc... we'll keep your foil wig safe for you
uh oh
ty trader . . . don't let uni get her hands on it!
*poof*
Is there a picture somewhere of these famous foil caps?
stock markets will be going for another ride tomorrow...
today was a wild stock market one, I heard
brb
i will guard it with my life!>>> marches it to the pb where she locks it away in a very heavy chest...gives spare key to cabana boy with strict instructions to give it only to jmc.... under penalty of death... or worse!
* giggle *
cabana booys like heavy chests, don't they?
the dow dropped just short of 1000 points in a matter of minutes!... a lot of traders wished they had their pampers! lol
* snicker *
(that was for jilli)
I hope some of my stocks survived...
europe's going for a ride next... u.s. will too... it will be nasty!
(thought so, pini)
pini... if you have stocks.. don't pay any attention until wednesday at least!
okey dokey :)
... unless you want to go bargain hunting... then go for it... lol
follow the bouncing ball of the stock market . . .
I think I'll just keep my fingers crosses that something happens for the good!
you goy it jill... the wild ride continues... i still don't understand why it has taken this long.
(is anyone old enough to remember those bouncing ball songs at the movies, along with the newsreels and Comin Attractions?
* raises hand *
futures aren't bad pini... it's the end of the day that bears watching
forgive the typos -- I'm tired!
Oh good, pini :)
i remember them in cartoons.... but i remember the anthem being played and 2 cartoons before the movie... they got rid of the news reels just before my time... left-overs from the war i think?
you know, even having finished, I still don't like looking at this grid.
glad to hear that, kate.
well done jill! i did 60 and threw in the towel... just popped in for a quick lurk-cum-chat
there was a lot of help post-flip last night.
pini remembers too... she raised her hand...
I saw that.
I didn't think you were nearly old enough, Kate.
i wasn't here at the flip. went to bed at a reasonable time..as i will do again tonight.
clever you, kate.
should i be coy and just giggle and say i have a good memory? lol i was born 1961
I was right, kate -- you're not nearly old enough!
age is just a number
they kept up the news reels in my little world for quite a bit longer... military bases were the last to get rid of them... they were still running in the 60's ; i just don't remember them
with 70 left I am going to lickety
good luck, herin!
go herin go... rofl...
Oh, I forgot to show that the icon theme for today was Oceans. Tomorrow is A Word from the Grid.
be all right if my fingers worked
brb... need to plant my crops
So mine is the Arctic Ocean.
hi everyone, mine is the Pacific
Hi flosey -- rested now?
Hi Flosey
yes thanks jilli, feeling much better
watched Doc Martin
hi herin
Darnit -- I love Doc Martin and missed it.
sigh have to mothers day stuff sunday
I see Sprite posted a lovely calm unnamed ocean picture, with the comment "Big. Salty. Deep. Everywhere."
does it make me a bad person if i contemplate faking being sick on Sunday
will go to who's online and see
I meant "my friends"
hmmm.
beautiful scene
Do, flosey. I think you and Sprite and I are the only ones who followed the theme. What a pity.
:(
wonder why?
there are so many beautiful ocean pictures to be found online
I think people are either too busy or don't know how or just don't want to.
I barely have time to play
well, sometimes one can be too busy - and, those still working - or at school, could be
I did see someone express the opinion that they didn't like it when people change icons because they don't know who the person is. For isntance, we all know the green rabbit is Scrabbler.
yes, and MRP, and a few others, that's true
I personally love teh icon change and the stories. I just don't have time any more. I barely have time to play
mrp does change sometimes.
yes
What I don't understand is people who suggest themes and then don't follow them, but do change icons to something else.
I do appreciate that herin
yes, that strikes me as odd
Quite understandable, herin.
I should make time but some days it is in and out and then I feel if i do change is it going to be there for days confusing people
Herin, I'm glad you enjoy the stories and changes. So it's not a total waste of time.
I miss my Grannies stories.
Don't worry about it, herin!
Flosey, did you ever get around to reading the long thing about the Arctic Ocean?
Right now I wish I had my drivers licence so I could drive to this Mothers day thing pretend I am drunk tell the b.fs sister what i really think then maybe his mother and then go home
Jilli, one of my friends in Toronto, a painter, was booked for some special event, received a call from the east coast saying the ice was breaking up and she flew down to get pics, so that she could paint it
yes I did jilli, very interesting
scary as well, of course
Interesting about your friend, flosey!
herin, if you want to be "sick" and avoid a problem, that's your biz!
I do have 2 of her paintings, she always holidayed on the east coast for that purpose
every time we go to this family things with his sister there we fight later
I wish I'd noticed those paintings when I was in your house, flosey.
ah, not your Mum, herin - that's different
a matter I can fully appreciate
they're downstairs in one of the spare bedrooms, jilli
It is his sister that annoys me the most. His mum is ok it is his little miss perfect sister that needs a smack
Oh, no wonder I didn't see them, flosey!
brb...
lol, can fully understand, herin - My s-i-l and I sort of, reached a point where we agreed to disagree
she is no longer with us, but since moving to the island here, she lived across the road
she is older than him so of course got a good deal in property made a bit of money and all that. So she thinks that she is wonderful. So does his mum. His mother has zero pics of him or us about the house.
and this grid is kicking myu butt
that's sad, herin, but she's the loser, in my opinion
want any clues?
hi all ... I actually made the flip!!
hello Dee, glad you made it
Thanks Flosey. I just don't understand people sometimes. She has pics up of his siblings and grand kids and neices and nephews and other family none of us. I ahve been with him for 7 years so it is not like i am going somewhere.
HI Volley
Hello Everyone !!
hi there west
Hi west
Just reading chat and herin I have the perfect Mother's Day gift for her
A beautifully framed picture of you and the bf
hugs flosey, jili, westie, herin...
great idea west

hi flosey and jilli and dee and herin
hello everyone :)
Hi Cyber
lol west, read back, herin made a similar comment
hi nan
hi nan
West I said the same thing
this is a good group... let's just start
hi nan
except she is older. I think it has something to do with the fact we don't have kids and a mortgage and all that
Oh lol, the results for BArking ar being announced and there's a character of a candidate --a little guy in a red coat and top hat and giant yellow rosette.
co8?
what's that saying? a play on Einstein's theory of relativity..time passes more slowly when you're with your relatives
what a shame people act that way, such a waste of time
codifies
PB
hello
which one, kje?
