he did
I did
yes, at about 12:30 central time
congrats grem
about 9 words per minute.
I don't think I could type that fast anymore

ooh, my favourite style of music's in this grid!!
hmmm, wonder what type of music that is
ha! well if I told you I'd be put away again--in the penalty box, anyhow!

i am on summerlong travel, west. now i am in the west, apparently

I have four of those, gremlinn
I like travelling somewhat, but I couldn't bear to do it for a whole summer - one week's plenty
beautiful josh
why yes he does... but br7 is not on grid
traveling for longer than a couple of weeks is a state of mind as much as anything. i've gotten to where anything less than 2 weeks doesn't feel like a real trip
it is m9
did you drive out there or fly and rent a car?
i am in my now dirty subaru
plenty of time to wash it
sure, but why b6
it's just going to get dirty again tomorrow
I mean when trip is over
I hope you post some pictures josh
no..i meant the name of ga4/8's br7.lol

I can't believe she's 21
I see Caity when I click on the icon because I have to go out and come back in to have it change. Refreshing no longer works.

I see what you mean about your silver lining.
now i see her. beautiful!

pawvasparasun
the exterminators are coming in the morning and I haven't heard a peep..must have heard us phoning them
what kind of peeps have you been hearing west
sounds like a manual typewriter in the living room wall of the cabin
oh my!
or else they're building a high rise
2 cats and they can't be bothered
we think they're getting in through the fireplace
your cant are probably too well fed
we had a 3 season porch built last year and the builder said the attic was full of their droppings
*cats, not cant (typo time)
you said it jilli they are the best fed cats in Maine lol
and they lie too I feed them and they look all forlorn and starving when hubby gets up
poor babies
are they Maine coons?
westfird
no one is calico the other is fuzzy tuxedo
hello pawvas
I have a little resin Maine coon but he doesn't eat
UTB?
seems so
hi all

person who lights the grill
that was my nemesis
tx jilli - i was just too lazy to look.
lazy is good at times
sweat dreams, flosey
My son has started his second of six weeks in Israel with a program called Nesiya. They post photos at their website, he looks to be having the time of his life.
nice, laid-back chog this AM
icon shopping
good for him, melon!
what an opportunity mel !
ruby it flows along well at the start
yes, the first 6 were a snap lol
I try to discipline myself with one scare at a time, but it's so tempting to jump around
there's a nice group in the upper right corner
I need a banana break...back soon
you are a siren, west!
and I'm back.
I am? I don't lure sailors. lol
good morning all how many words
Big puzzle, I think I'll try to see how many of the Ss I can get.

268 sandra and good morning
hi sandra -- 268
hi sandra
ooooh i have a long way to go
grem finished this in half an hour
grem isn't human
right lol but he's a sweetheart
oh yes
that's amazing!
uh-0h
hi everyone
gd morning sandyloo!
hi sandy :)
jill that rose is gorgeous
looking forward to tonight ruby and seeing the country around you
thanks, sandy, but I now have a cloud -- guess you need to refresh!
I hope that Lance keeps riding and chatting with the other riders. I don't think he's a quitter.....
Cant believe my change of icon has appeared - miracles do happen
Ruby , he says he knows he won't win but will enjoy the rest of the tour and will help his team
have you noticed the difference between him and Contador where whichever rider is next to him, French or not, has an animated conversation? And Contador never talks to anybody except his buddy Novel
I don't want Contador to win , but he has such a good team and the only person Cadel seems to have is Frank Hencappe (can't spell it)
I felt very sorry for Lance though - he had such bad luck
I though Schleck looked good on Sunday, but there's something a little strange about the blankness of his eyes....
I love this grid!
LOL
and we're back! I got red 'Messages from hell" for a few minutes there.
hahah melon head
fireworks
good one josh -
that one felt bigger than it was
good morning and yay, joshua
I am meant to be doing the tax on the computer but I am doing this .........Babble is bad for me
well, I have 29 S words so far
who wants a clue or two
Do you all like my comment about you at the end of my icon blurb
first letters of 9 and 10, pls
that is a lovely sentiment, sandy!
sandyloo, I have to apologize in advance, but your handle reminds me of something my son told me about hiking in the desert - again, so sorry!
ou9
en10, ou9
your blurb is lovely sandy
LOL melon
I got the ou7, right away, putting monkeys to work for the others
whew!
I got the 10 a while ago
if you are familiar with the contest at nathan's in coney island you will get the ou6/9/7
too funny, joshua -- got it! I used to go to Nathan's when I was little, late on summer nights with my family, and eat little fried shrimp in paper cones!
phantom: haggis
not bad for a frenchie
my phantom is entourage
your phantom is better than my phantom!
I was just trying that one melon
gent
whoops, sorry
I always try suspected phantoms since I was once wrong and gave away a word
Never went to Coney Island -- went to Palisades, though.
josh that is one creepy icon!
PB for me, I hope there is coffee and a croissant!
Ruby I had that one , try again
why to the guys so often pick creepy icons?
they are not pure of heart like us jilli
hu4/7 isn't a real word, bah!
I'll take it anyway!
aegis
I have a little plaque we got in Pennsylvania Dutch country which says "Outen the lights", but enable says "outen" isn't a word, but hu4/7 is -- phooey.
PB for me! no jelly!
thanks, melon
that and ta5/14 were my favorite words
In Indiana they "hotten up the coffee" according to my late gramma Gert.
I can't imagine what the hu4 is.....
it's just a grunt
thank you, sounds like me standing up!
I haven't found it but I am grunting in many different ways
france via Coney Island!
halfway!
wtg melon!
i have 130 left
half is a long way off, but maybe doable!
I'm slow -- still 157 left
not a bad grid but some strange words in there
there always are some strange words
we are all slow compared to Gremlin, jill
off to bed for me 134, 18 7s, 7 8s, the 9 and th e 10. 30Ss. mediocre but valiant. 'nite all!
{poof}
night melon!
bye melon!
18 7's wow!
28 7s Ruby,
yes, but she GOT 18! I only have 10
i have 14
you better pedal faster ruby
legs are still tired from Sunday!
and then kicking that ball around.....
I am going to be exhausted tonight - its a big mountain stage I think?
and it is near you , right?
yes, but you can come here afterwards....very restful house!
We could have wine and dissect the tour. What fun!
what time is it there for you Ruby, 3.43pm here
what time will you watch it? so I don't comment and spoil your fun since I see it live
9:43AM
I think we see it live - it starts at 8pm
what time does it start there for you
so 6 hrs difference -- doing the math hahah It is over here at around 5:30PM, so 11:30 for you
we get live coverage from about 2PM until 5:30, some days a little more
so that means we do see it live too
usually starts when they have about 120 kms to go
that's nice! My son's wife (in Austin TX) tapes it and then watches during the next day
I do that too, as you know but last stage I stayed up
you commentary is in English, though, n'est-ce pas? So who does the countryside commentary?
I love the mountain stages and oui! il est en Englais
over halfway :)
Phill ligget is one and I love him and others - Matthew Keenan among them
it is a wonderful French lesson for me but one of the commentators is very sick with cancer. Last year he was having chemo and had no hair, but this year, he only does the interesting days and has hardly any voice. It is really sad, but nice that they keep him on and are so loyal.
Jill you must be bored with all this tour talk - do you like it?
sorry jill, we sports fans must be a pain!!
c'est terrible, Ruby
so you have French; I'm impressed!
don't mind it -- and I'm pretty much buried in the gird anyway -- carry on!
lol seulement un peu
*grid
I keep trying outen for your sake jilli. Maybe if we enter it enough, we'll convince enable!
lol, rugy!
or girded in the grid
are you talking abut the tour de Fance?
yes we are , we both enjoy it
and that was lol, ruby. Obviously bedtime.
yes, we are both fans with disinterested husbands. And here, women absolutely hate it!
de France, as you know I mean.
my French girlfriends think I am nuts!
There's a Canadian doing well in the tour -- big surprise. I think he's from BC.
I thought everyone in France loved it
hejesdal or something
I would love to see a canadian do well
no, they mostly think it's boring
you mean uninterested. You would prefer a disinterested judge to an uninterested one.
I have to check, but he may be on an American team, maybe HTC Columbia, but my tour book is 2 flights away!
*my command of English is slipping*
Yes, Ryder Hesjedal
lots of people say disinterested when they mean uninterested. Big difference!
appropriate first name!
I will root for him! but my favorite name is Wesley something or other from Flowery Gully, Australia
we had a butcher call Mr Butcher
one more for half.....
Yes! And he's a local boy, from Victoria (I'm just checking the sports section of the paper).
lots of English names like that, also
Woodman, Tinman, Sawyer, etc
yay, half! now I can get dressed
see you later
*poof*
bye ruby
And Evans from Australia (good surname)
sandy -- nice sentiment for your icon!
ok, 140/128 and I'm heading for bed -- goodnight anyone....*poof*
thanks jill, and bye for now
morning all.....163/105 and still listless. Time for coffee methinks
hi fish, I thought I was all alone
good effort
Oh hello, here for a few mins, entering anything I can see which is not much, ha!
hi george
halo, sandy!
i have 53 left but unlike fish, I am not listless
I have 93 left, so you are doing better than me!
right, got my big bloodshot baby blue on the grid!
me too , I want to finish
yeah, would be nice, as I normally don't the little I ever get to try this, lol!
I could never finish without a list - I am meant to be doing our tax at the moment- babble can be bad
Don't think I'll be finishing - just here whilst I'm waiting for my flatmate to get out the shower, 'cause he's worse than a girl...;)
Hello
oh yeah, I'm answering emails and tweets and DM's and whatnot--flipping heck, hello Jesse, ha! xx
hi NB - are you settled and happy in yournew place?
NB Happy birthday late as t iss
hi herin
I was surprised to see you here, George! Couldn't resist popping in, when I saw that!
NB it was my birthday on Friday
yeah, heard your all settled in another flat, how's that going m8, well I hope eh?
you got my happy birthday message, did ya??
Oh, then belated happy birthday to ya, sandy! xx
Thanks, and thanks Sandy - yes I am :) actually having lots of fun here...apart from my flatmate using up all the hot water. But, he's got two adorable kitties, and that makes up for it..
yeah I'm surprised and all, Jesse, never get time to do much like this lately, I come and go so much!!
gonna meet or bang into myself soon, ha!
thanks george
well, dunno about that, I love my hot water!!
Ooh, happy birthday, Sandy! And yes, thanks George!! It was nice getting online to see messages like that - I managed to sprain my ankle falling off a table (oops) so they all cheered me up no end ;)
you on the messy? I could sign on for a bit??
bloody hell, on your birthday??
were you dancing on the table -
yeah, with a lampshade on his head, ha!
I know, right! Best birthday present I ever got - a set of crutches and an ankle brace from A&E ;)
I hope you got something better than that?!?
that is not good, hope you are better
Sandy...no comment...maybe a little bit ;)
I've signed on, don't see ya though?
Yeah thanks ;) kind of a long story actually, but lots of my friends got together to get me a trip to South Korea - so I get to tell my relatives that I'm actually, y'know, alive. So I'm scared to death and totally excited!
we play this acro game, some of my m8's and I, where you take a word and expand it like it's an acronym
*NB on the grounds you may incriminate yourself?
and that reminds me of the best I came up with in our games of that, which was............
like Acrophobia?
used to play that non-stop when I first got online
LAMPSHADE: Lightcover, although maybe party style hat, after drunken excess!
I would George, but if I get on msn now I'll be there for hours, and really I'm just waiting for Frank to finish washing his hair ;)
yeah, that's it exactly, m8!! lots of fun!
we play it in messenger chats, have some laughs!
you know, you can converence, several people in one window on MSN and that.........
LOL! Well no lampshades for me...not this time, anyway...
I'm sure I'd humiliate myself terribly if I played any kind of wordgame with you and the others ;)
yeah, I see Jesse, don't see you on much! could be cos I've been here, there and everywhere else lately!!
that's a really nice photo of ya, Jesse
yeah, I'm not around much either! Working really antisocial hours recently, so usually when I get online there's nobody there...
Hey, thanks! Friend of ours edited for me, for some reason when it was taken it was bleached of all colour...I deserve technicolour ;)
oh yeah? I keep some odd hours somtimes, but if I sign on and see no one I want to chat with online, I sign off again, which probably doesn't help, ha!
Haha! Patience is a virtue you know :P
I stay invisible and just go off again, or else I'm bombarded with messages, should take some people off there!!
patience is fine, for those who have time for it!
Oh fiiiinally. Right, his lordship is now finished in the shower, which means I'd better get myself in there. It's no joke on crutches!! But lovely to see you here, and hopefully I'll see you around soon :) xx
yeah I bet not, what about the bandaging??
see ya later
yeah, oh well, laters then, Jesse, take care m8! xx
You too, be good ;) and see you, Sandy!
I always am, at least, ha!
Hi NB! So sorry to hear about your ankle. I've damaged a ligament in mine and am sitting with an ice pack on it. Hope you'll be better soon.
He's gone off, hydra, having a shower and whatnot!
Oh dear, I missed him!
Yeah, I'll pass it on to him though!
All right, Hydra, pasted your message to him on one of his pages, so likely he'll see it soon!
ig7? Help pls
think of what you use to light a fire
ig + not day + a rocky t**
that not day is a quick spelling not the correct one
Weird US spelling but thank you !
yw
Hello
hey guys, have there been any clues for the 9 & 10?
en10 ... begging
ou9 ... consuming more than another
cant beleive i didn't spot the ou9!!! ty
*worries for moment that 'another' might be in the grid*
en + begging
lol
yw ishult :)
and that will give you the en 7 and 8 as well
got the en0 also, thanks again
oops, I got the 7, but missed the plural 8 - thanks Sandy!
hmm firewords
well done sandy, way to go!
Hm, back and groomed to perfection now ;) but I guess I missed George, so I should probably head out.
hey NB how goes it with you?
Jesse?
hello, still here?? I've just been busy tweeting and answering DM's on there, sorry!
well, so much for that!?
anyone have the ne6,18?
ne =re4
ty macadam!
mornin babblers!
Hm, only an hour late - doubt you're still around, but sorry George! The cats totally distracted me; they're just too adorable...and then I had to master grocery shopping on crutches ;)
crutches? what's the report from London, NB? what happened?
and good morning, everyone
Hi, JBV :) oh, it's so embarrassing...I topped off my birthday celebrations by, errr, falling off a table and tearing a couple of ligaments in my ankle.
I thought I told you to be safe NB?
um, not sure what to say, hope it was worth it? so sorry about your ankle, tho
LOL Sea, I'm just an accident waiting to happen... and thanks, JBV :) it's alright, the kitties are scared of the crutches, though!
do you have to go to therapy?
Morning everyone! Yikes, NB! And when do you go to Korea?
therapy? nahh, just an ankle brace and some crutches, though I think they're just slowing me down, honestly ;)
Mornin', Jay :) end of August, I'm off. So, so excited/scared!
it's a HUGE trip for you. will you tell people you're coming or just appear?
and what LOVELY friends you have!
oh I know Jay, isn't it great of them?! I burst into tears. What a baby :P as for telling them I'm coming, as far as they know, I'm dead, so I guess I'll just have to show up - not sure if they'd believe me otherwise!
how long will you be there?
NB, i'm wishing you a wonderful trip - I'm sure it will be very emotional. It will be amazing no matter what.
*runs back into chog* NB!!!!!
hunh
sorry!
Just a week, Jay - if they accept me, then I can visit again; if they don't, I wouldn't want to be there any longer!
Eva!! I thought I'd missed you :)
oh, thank you, JBV :) yeah, whatever happens, there'll be tears for sure...mostly from me, I'll be honest ;)
NB, I'm crying over a family reunion and I wasn't even there ! My brother just reunited with family we haven't seen in YEARS ! - so many stories to catch up on
oh, how nerve-wracking and exciting all at the same time!
JBV, that's awesome! So happy your family has been reunited like that, what a great story!
Oh man Eva, depending on the hour, I'm both madly excited and completely terrifed.
NB, the story's in my profile, so I don't have to bore everyone, but I am so wrapped up in it, it's wonderful
you will have to scour korea for some lovely orange courts for me. ;)
JBV, that story is far from boring. That's so sweet and inspiring!! So happy for you :)
LOL Eva, I will do my best ;)
Good morning, all. Geesh. It's all about the shoes with you! ;-)
Morning, Judi :)
Maybe it's the right idea though...I may put updates in my profile instead, just so I don't clog the chog!
oh, how i wish i could curl up inside your luggage and go with you... ive never been to asia!
S'okay, NB. We probably have a plumber in the ranks. We have just about every profession represented in Babble land.
hello, you here now Jesse?
just tweetingi a bit again, and trying to finish this
Yes, I'm here now! :) just 'enjoying' some patchy connection..
You'd hate it, Eva...August there is like, the height of the rainy/humid season. You step off the plane and into what feels like a hot, wet flannel..
oh, yeah, your not om messy?
or on, rather, ha! can't type for toffee
Just trying to coax it into signing me in at the moment...technology tends to fall apart in my hands
NB, sounds like DC. ;) though, we finally got some rain here and the temps have gone down a bit. only 90 degrees today...heh
hello hello :)
hello Ata
george, your mango pineapple tart thing looks amazing
Hello, Ata!
DC, but with monsoon rain ;) ooh, I can check the weather there now..ahhh, a rainy 32C in Seoul right now...
does anyone know how to remove spirit dyes from skin?
does anyone know how to un-skrink a dress that shrank in last nights wash? :/
why the sarcastic remark?
buy a new one!
What are spirit dyes?
it IS a new one. :/
take it back if it wasn't your fault it shrunk
hmmm, Kallia. Has scrubbing and praying not worked? I think they should be soluble in meths, right, but you may not wanna put that on your skin...
they are wood dyes, which I'm using to dye metal, they are brightly coloured..and a bottle popped and went every where
im fairly certain i washed it on cold. cold is supposed to not shrink stuff, right?
Hmm. Lemon juice? Peroxide?
yep meths helps but really don't want much on my skin...guess it will have to wear off
Eva - did you put it in the dryer?
Oh Kallia, that is awful. I'm so sorry that happened to you.
Good morning everyone
Hiya, Mom!
well I frightened other half, it was bright red I was using
Hi Judi
bloodbath!
yes. :/ i put everything in the dryer + nothing else shrank. just that one.
white spirit? turps?
I can only imagine Kallia
Dryer is where stuff shrinks. Bummer.
lol, Kallia! Did that once with red paint in an art class...hours of fun.
meths is what you dilute it with, but I may try some neat turps later...at least on my hands
Eva, look at the tag and see if it might have to be line dried
but still, if it doesn't say "no tumble drying", I'd take it back
kallia -- do they have Goo Gone in your hardware stores over there? i have used that to get all sorts of stuff off of skin.
eva I'm sorry for my thoughtless remark, I trhought you were taking the p....
never heard of it...will go look thank you.
if it says you can put it in the dryer, I would take Ata's suggestion and return it
Goo Gone rocks! I love that stuff. And it doesn't have any nasty chems in it.
s'ok kallia. chog timing sometimes makes things seem other than what they are...
will have a look at the tag tonight. guess i should have read it before washing. :/
*facepalm* Eva!
ah Amazon UK has it.....I will go search see if it is sold at any of the hardware chains....
i never read tags unless the fabric seems like something special. this was a little cotton number from target...
well there's a lesson for you!!
*smug* Just found the 10.
i could still make it work with tights or leggins, but its now too short for work. if i cant exchange it, its now stuck as a weekend dress.
yay judi!
at least you can still wear it though!
hrm. the website says line dry. :/ im gonna guess the label does too...
thought it was cotton. website says rayon. stupid man-made fabrics.
gah!
seems to only be available on line.....I've ordered some, seems pretty useful stuff to have around, thanks Eva
YW kallia
so, maybe i could try washing it again and hanging it to dry.... maybe it will stretch out?? *wishful thinking*
Try wetting it thoroughly and line drying it Eva - it may unshrink
Hang it up dripping so that the weight of the water may stretch it
Take it to drycleaner's. Maybe they can stretch it. Some do offer that service.
*pokes NB to see if he is still conscious*
obviously not lol
sorry, Eva ;) chatting to George, navigating stairs...crutches make me twice as busy!
time for me to start my day. Good luck to all of you. {{Hugs}}
heh, no worries dear. you boys feel free to share any super-amazing raw recipes. :)
would love to start incorporating some into my meal-planning.

It was pretty fun while it lasted
ruru, you are too clever!
I think crickets in house are considered good luck. My Mom and Grnadma always have a iron one as a door stopper...
soi went and got spray, and sprayed him, and he jumped.. right into the toilet... suicidal cave cricket (tried to swim, but i guess when wet he can't jump.. never madeit out of the toilet)
ah well, not such good luck for the cricket.
oh regular crickets might, but not cave crickets, red... several inches large... not good luck at all!
sounds like a good name for a band: suicidal cave cricket
I am bowled over... wow
it does indeed... my kids went to a concert a couple years ago... "death cab for cutie" or something like that... i couldn't quite figure that one out. probably came about the same way
flush up ruru!
Death Cab is a great Band, but it is a wierd name...
sorry I took the plunge

how bout compound ou7 for up on high horse!~
Hi Sprite
Hello, sprite.
hi sprite!!
hi Haz, hi Katie, hi m9 :)
ou7 - the emotion felt when one is beaten by a cheat in the ou9 contest.
ou6 when someone gets to the station before you can
i have the ou7..not getting the 9
ou9 - gerund ending for the picnic overconsumption.
wow.. that station one is a word!
*remembered it from previous grid*
I think it is just the station one I am missing now, ty for all the help
Greetings all
hey FM!
Salutations, FM.
argh! not getting it
Hiya spritey sprite and Haz and Kateie and ruru and all.
ou6 - to consume more food than someone else - ou9 - doing it.
not in + fart m9
ok..was over doing it. thank yoU!
that puts me at 4 to find... and it's 8:37 here.. better get ready for my volunteer stint at family history center!
beautiful clouds today!
I did that ou6 last night. My dd made california rolls and I made egg rolls...
I keep thinking of that song: look for the silver lining...
I always enjoy a gird with a gerund ending, adds lots of lovely bigger words.
hey fm
I meant 100 to find. why did I say 4?? wishful thinking?
Hi m9.
ah.. my next word to find was a 4!LOL
I'd better go and get my hair cut, see you all later :-)
TTFN Katie
Bye, Katie. Will we know you when you get back?
may as well get them all cut! have fun!
bye Katie
I hav a hair appt in the morning just a treat for a wash and blowdry, the prices are so much cheaper here than where I used to live.
folks were ag6/27 at the idea of a 55 cut, what were they where you lived before?
oh.. and what's the exchange rate now? about even?
wash and blow dry now is £12 rather than £20 and when cut is now £20 rather than £35.
Don't know re exchange you will have to google it.
wow that is better than he4.
Haz you public holiday today - is that part of the marching season? I am paying small village prices but have been v lucky to find a great hairdresser (thank goodness).
glad they aren't trying to scalp you FM
and that reminds me I was outta he4!!! bye all!
haha ruru and am not going to get into a pun game with you this afternoon.
bye m9
yeah FM, gotta snip that in the bud!
Go m9! :)
and...*pouffe*
FM, yes, part of the July holiday - means I have to work!
why is that, Haz? Do you step in when personel is off?
Yes, when surgery is closed, phone lines are put through to vet's house for emergency calls.
Work!! whatever next. The news coverage has been umm interesting as it is every m season but seems a tad more volatile this year. Or is that just the ange the media are giving it?
Phone...
A vets wife's life is never a dull one spritey.
no I bet. Busy, but interesting, I think.
Oh yay it is raining again! It rained last night for the first time in 5 weeks!!!
same here FM! Finally cooling down a bit. Am so grateful.
me too sprite, me too esp re the temps.
Re the news, they like to have annual training in rioting, I think.
sheesh
that is sad
Not much call for rioting when the weather was bad. If July happened in February, things would be a lot quieter.
lol like to see if they could riot whilst on ice, would be more like a keystone kops movie.
BRB
Haz, just curious: do you also get to screen the phone calls for real emergencies? And are you expected to help people verbally when possible?
Yes, sometimes it's just to make appointments, but you do get to give advice on what HAS to be seen and what can wait.
very interesting. You must know a lot about your husband's work to be able to do that.
I've learned over the years.
I remember when Terra couldn't walk at all all of a sudden and I panicked. And the vet said if it was that sudden, it was probably a virus and not something really bad. But I was glad I could come the same day anyway, even though she was right.
and have some great tales to tell - still waiting for you to write the book btw.
hello you eu**pean babblers
hiya Dorens
Yes, if people insist, they will be seen.
lovely grid today... toodling along nicely, particularly after finding the gerund
Hey Dorens! Was reading your cricket posts earlier!
ah! have you ever seen the beasts? they're truly grotesque. my cats don't particularly care for them, either
No never seen them thank goodness, they look evil.
actually this photo is rather mild... can't really see the size
looks like a cricket crossed with a spider *shudder*
she told me it would have to wait because they had no time, and then she called me that somebody wasn't coming and we could come. Anyway, Terra was pretty young then and couldn't hold any water or food, so I was glad they could help him fast.
the worst is when they jump at you! have read many internet sites... blogs etc. apparently people do call them sprickets because of that, fm
I know, it's reassuring.
Dorens, it is a bit creepy that size. And loads of them is a bit too much even to my taste, brrrrr.
eeew eeew
being a vet is not just about animals, I guess, but also a lot about the owners and their psychology.
yah... down in the garage, i saw six (r possibly more) huddled together on one wall. tomorrow, the garage is being cleaned out and "bombed"
I am sure you are right sprite.
the psychology of pet owners can be quite interesting, i'm sure. of course we all love our pets,but some people ....
is this a yearly occurance Dorens?
some people don't love them and some 'love' them too much.
i've always had a few down in the garage or laundry room... but the number this year is just outrageous
Morning all. Must say -have a new puppy I am totally gaga over... but follow, strictly, the vet's advise :)
hey CadFan :) I fell in love with Terra first thing too, hehehe.
they love the damp. and my house is a bilevel//don't know if that translates in europe... but my lower level includes my garage and is half underground (house on a hill)
Hi CadFan, is that the new pup in yr icon?
Saw Kahlua's picture on the internet and it was instant!
Hello again, have returned from the insurance sign up.
Yes, that's her
hiya red, did it go well?
she's adorable, cad
she is soo lovely. Hi red!
it was faster than expected.
I can imagine, Dorens. Always a bit damp underground.
YOur Puppy is too cute Cad. what did you finally decide on the name?
Cad she looks so sweet!
Just uploaded the picture that originally brought me to her - her name is Kahlua
Fineena would have been nice too. But I like Kahlua as well.
She is SO sweet!!!
i like kahlua too... used to enjoy it with cream (black russian?)
Fineena would be perfect - but no one else agreed with me...
lol Dorens
no, i think white russian, but why would kahlua be in a drink called white russian?
Fineena is an interesting name, where does that come from?
White Russian is actually kahlua, cream (or milk) and Vodka
Fineena is Gaelic (or Irish)
It means Beautiful Child
because of the vodca
ahah! i guess i forgot about the vodka.
I have to say that pup could have grown into that name.
a lot of numbers today
and very few re's given a grid this size.
yes indeed
also not many uns
but oh, those gerunds
*loves gerunds*
lol me too.
thank goodness for those gerunds - hello everyone
me three
hi River :)
Hi River.
hi river, how goes it?
you know - feet up on desk - goofing off - yeah sure....
just taking a few minute break from work
the most surprising gerund is actually the first (alphabetically, not the first i found)
I'm not far enough in grid yet to know what the first one is
fireflies! Yes, that was one of my final words. That and the japanese pleasure girl.
cant wait to find out
ooo - thanks for that one sprite
and congrats
thanks sprite... was puzzling over my missing g
Congrats spritey!!
yvw :) Bye all, have fun with this gr5 grid.
bye spritey and yay for you!
Need to do a few things so will be back in a while. TTFN.

there was a shark Si8 off cape cod yesterday.
May I have a clue for the second N word from the top right corner? I have ni4.
both are ni4/4
Got it! TY Christine
Afternoon, all. Hey, River - how did you son do with the heart surgery? Is he back to playing soccer yet?
the facts that i just started and i see an 'er' and an 'ers' and an 'ing' and an 'ings', do i dare ask how many?? This looks enormous!!
268
OK jess. that was bit anticlimactic. LOL! I expcted something in the 400's for some reason.
lol
River, how goes your son? We drove right near your house on our way home from Maine.
Hi bichon- we just got the call today - need to be in Boston on Thursday for pre-op and Friday for surgery
here we go again
Surgery?
same but different - we will find out more when we meet with the team on Thursday - they have all the records and results from the last one
I've been away in Maine. What happened at the angiogram?
it wasnt an angiogram. He was under anesthesia for 10 hours - full electrical study - they tried to find the extra pathways but ran into complications. He has a large aneurism on the backside of his heart in one off the branches of the coronary artery. Too dangerous to go any further without additional testing besides he was under for so long. Dartmouth couldnt get him in again soon and felt he needed this taken care of asap.
Wow! I am so sorry to hear that he needs more surgery.
us too bichon - its really tough on him
What hospital in Boston?
he is just getting back on his feet and we do this to him again - he will be going to Childrens Hospital
That's the hospital which was feature on the show "Boston Med". It must be world class
they are the leading cardiac hospital for kids
You know that my thoughts are with you and your son.
thanks bichon
Bets wishes River...our thoughts will be with you and your family
thanks seaspray
hello
{{river}} I'm glad I caught you!
Hi Ruby
where have you been - havent seen you in days
in and out but here for part of everyday
how are you holding up? Boston sounds like a great plan!
its a great hospital - we are doing this again Thursday for pre-op and Friday for surgery
will you stay at the hospital or in a hotel? Will your home e-mail be accessible?
I'm a wreck - just trying to keep busy - I'm at work now
you're amazing!
have you been able to not smoke? I was wondering....
bill collectors still want to get paid - DH is home with him
not smoking - 12 weeks I think - lost count - since April 22
how is your daughter doing? I can imagine that she is having a very hard time
that is terrific! I was afraid that you'd revert
How long will the surgery last river?
hello seaspray, how are you feeling?
she isnt saying much - volleyball camp is keeping her busy this week
hi all
Great ruby and you?
hello barb!
it is very very hot here and, unlike Miami, the house is only air conditioned in the bedroom and there are no screens!
people in France don't have either!
We have had the heat also, 90's and 100's, that's good for being in the pool and thats about it!
The Germans don't have AC or screens or water fountains!
fortunately, for me there is the T*** de France, my favorite event, even though Lance can't win this year
cool here today only about 70..what happened to our summer?
somehow it is always hottest here when the days are longest (like now) and the thunderstorms only cool the air briefly
We were in northern Maine last week hiking hut to hut [Sugarloaf area]. It was wicked hot
blackflies?
still hot and humid, has been for about 3 weeks now, and no rain, we finally got a downpour last night of 2 inches...torrential but we needed it badly
we need a slow, gentle rain. These T-storms don't last and as we're on a hillside, the garden is dry after one day. But I have one tomato turning red, so I am happy
yay for the red tomato!!
No black flies, too late in the season. There were horse flies and skeeters though.
I am very poor at growing vegetables so this is exciting for me lol
One year, all the tomatoes in this valley turned black, so I wasn't the only incompetent
On one hike, we ran out of water and had to purify some lake water.
Hi all can I please have a clue for the second br 6???
that sounds very scout-ish!
hello science
I only have one and it's the plural of br5/16

Egads = no tea -- do I pay cabfare just to buy tea, wait for tomorrow when I must gou out, or drink green tea, cranberry cove or red zinger - I can't make that kind of decision without a cup of tea.
egh. just in time. i say hi, and a client walks in.
too funny, christine
Today rain is the 1st in over 5 weeks for my local area.
my brother is on the road now - left Sunday - is driving from NH to Billings Montana on his motorcycle
start with the green tea and go from there
cranberry cove Chirstine.
that is too long, FM, we've been lucky, had a couple of rainstorms amidst the extreme heat
pups are afraid of the thunder, but I love it!
heat has also broken Ruby, now in the low 70s - am so happy.
my black kitty cat hates loud noises,sneezes,thunder storms, etc
hello all! I'm at the family history center and just had a great time helping someone find out about their ancestor from the 1600's! good times!
I love sitting on our screen porch watching thunderstorm pass by
it is fun indeed m9
I love visiting our son and doing the same thing river...we don't get them here
May just order-in at lunch time, instead of dinner, and ask the gut at the restaurant to include a teabag.
doesnt bother our dogs - they must think it sounds like gun shots so its exciting for them
I would love that too River, love a good storm.
where are you mcurl, I'm afraid to go into profiles because I always lose my connectrion
the "gut" at the restaurant.LOL
washington state
I spent one summer in Pullman, many years ago and it was over 100 every day with no rain
m9,this may interest you since it is still in your mind after helping that guy but my brother set out to trace our entire family,and we were able to go back right to 966 in france area
what kind of food does the gut deliver?
yeah it does that on the east side of the state; west is WET
GH
really gd night everybody *poof*
ok now,my better half is coming on,so i best behave...:)
Sorry, it all went wonky on me for a second or two.
I hope he doesn't play babble, because he does have a litte - embonpoint.
cross--that's no excuse to behave; no fun either
g'night ruby
nice, christine
Mrs.Crossy plays?
good night ruby
she does indeed christine,her game name is 'elegant"
Goodnight, rubyfoo.
m9, was reading a bit of the log from yesterday re unschooling and wanted to ask a question?
{{river (I think I already did that, but you need all the hugs in the world!{}}
that is SO cool crossy!!
gn Christine and FM!!
((Ruby)))

hi elegant *waves*
and there is the elegant lady herself, greetings!
what's that...a bad birth??LOL
Hello Elegant
~~~~~~~(waves)~~~~~~
indeed,or a varriation of mis-born or badly created..not a proud start but it morphed into melbourne and we have a long history with that handle indeed
question FM? (sorry, still at library)
How long do you unschool the children for? Do they ever enter mainstream school and take exams? Am ingreagued especiall as all we see on TV over here is how much emphasis is put on 'permanent records and achievements'
Hi Elegant!
Thanks for the warm welcome.
just asking out of interest as had not really heard of unschooling before.
back again - called to wish brother happy birthday - have been on the phone for going on 2 hours!! - he's in Ontario
What is unschooling?
Gosh you must have avery hot ear after all that time flosey!
We unschool forever.LOL my eldest is 22 and about to be married. hasn't stopped her from working.
some unschoolers go on to college. Some choose other paths. Do quite well at college.
you know elegant that we are all very jealous. lucky you getting to spent all day with crossy, eating bacon recipes and having him amuse you with his stories :)
lol, we've always been very close FM, I think the world of him - he just turned 80 and is now concerned about driver's test - a must when you reach 80
Oh interesting, thanks m9, was curious to know.
I'm going to jump off here and let the missionaries have the puter.. they only get 1/2 day to check emails and all
is unschooling the same as home schooling?
:)) i think i bore her with my stories
*gasp* not possible
OH I wish we had that here too flosey as my Mom really shouldn't drive anymore but then if she couldn't she would wither.
he is a joy and a blessing. I adore every moments spent with him and miss him dearly when we are apart.
crossy blushes....
awwwww
that happened to my mom FM, my sister and bil sat her down one day and told her that she had to give it up! was very hard on her
I am going to have to do that soon flosey but am hanging on until this winter I think.
oh my...be still my heart - does he give lessons
hello all
Elegant & crossy you are a lovely couple and have obviously found out the way to bring out the best in each of you :).
my grandmother drove until she died at 99 1/2, 5 days after she was buried the DMV showed up at her house, someone had complained and they have come to take her license
am taking my cat back to the vet for bladder ex-ray, blood work and what else he recommends. wish me luck
ah, didn't realize Mrs. Crossy is with us, Hello Elegant, pleased to meet you
appts is 4pm today
good luck peri
good luck peri
flosey - unschooling is not teaching at all in any structured form but allowing the child to do what it wants and learn from that (I think).
ty so much flosey, I am beside myself with worry
Hi Peri - good luck with kittie
Good Luck peri dear and kitty!
ty River
ty FM
i wish you luck indeed peri..that was a 1200 dollar touch when we had our monkey cat examed here
Hello Flosey.
oh my, and yet they are able to attend U. they must be quite committed to learning on their own
she has been peeing beside the sofa and my sis and bro in law have been very understanding
ty crossy, and hello Elegant
oh my. we have so many people to add to the prayer list....
not sure if they do attend U Flosey.
does she have a UTI peri?
I don't know enough about it.
yes, Sea but do not know what else is wrong with her, she has had it for some time
and will not take the meds
Good, have you read The Help. very good, highly recommend it
Hello Peri. Good luck with your kitty.
I went through that with my cat and yes I have read The Help, loved it!
ty Elegant
I've read very good reviews of that book peri, it is on my list.
Whats the latest book you downloaded Elegant?
I am now reading: The Gastronomy of Marriage, a memoir of food and love. Written by an Italian American woman who married a Chinese American and how they blended their life and cooking styles. Very good
sounds interesting peri
i'm a very particular reader lol. right now I'm going through LOTR but plan on attempting Moby Dick.
the author is Michelle Maisto.
lol that sounds like a good menu nevermind a book.
reading The Help right now (in fact torn between reading and babbling)!!
she also likes true crime stories so im trying to get some books by ann rule for her
going to rest for a while, before the vet visit. bbl
i'll put that one on the list peri - thanks
I'm reading the 9th Judgment by James Patterson after rereading the first 8 - now all sounds the same
LOTR is one of my favs as is the Hobbit (of course) and has crossy ever mentioned a babbler called Atalante to you as she is the most wonderful Tolkein artist?
yw Good, bye for now
yes there is loads of stuff in her flickr prifile but she has about 4000 images up there of various stuff.
I will ask her to sort out a few gems and let you know when she has done it.
I loved the hobbit. Afer over 10 years of not being able to read I loved rediscovering the world of Bilbo. I don't think he has.
www.marquista.com :)
Ah talk of the talented one - thanks Ata!
im deep into all that is clive cussler now,i love the way he writes,you can almost taste the spray of the ocean and the crushing depths as he dives on a wreck to save the planet he comes home reeking of booze,shot up,ribs taped and needing a shave and all the long slinky damsels in distress fall at his feet without a whimper lol
ty fm, i would like that
how's that for timing!
Ata is invited every year to exhibit at the Tolkein event in Oxford every year, she is just so talented (not that I am biased or anything).
there she is;)
Left leg has gone to sleep, need to go and walk about a bit. TTFN.
some of them have been done in needlepoint afterwards!
Also liked the link to the furniture maker - a morr
Back but only to bid you all a good night. See you on the morrow. Happy Babbling.
Oops - a Morris chair like the one My Gran'ma had ... coveted that chair all my life, may need to save to buy a copy.
ahh, i love having downtime at work. it allows me to be productive with wedding stuff. :D
the planning going well Eva? got shoes?
still barefoot...heh
but invitations have been mailed out and we are creating registries tonight!
wow!
getting close!
my nephew registered online with a group that had many stores and portion of procedes went to charity of nephew and bride's choices.
I thought it was pretty neat.
yes, ive heard of that
as a male,i have never really understood this registry thing..i mean invite who you like they bring a present or no,cash or no or whatever is my thoughts a a misguided male;0
lol...we were just talking about this yesterday. a registry is SUCH a big help to those attending a wedding!
any clue for the in7/40 ? last one I need
i mean if you get 7 toasters give 9 away lol
hmmm....maybe I can give you some in7/40 into the problem.
the one who lights a fire or fuel
that should be if you get 9,give 8 away
exactly crossy!
thanks, got it
yw
that was ig7 - sorry
Obviously, Crossy, you didn't receive three toasters and four blenders, when you married. Also, nowadays so many coupples no longer live with family prior to marriage, and already have some stuff. With a registry, friends can contribute to something that's really needed.
anyone need one before i leave?
so,there is a list of needed things,is that it?"
needed, wanted etc.
ai6,24?
money is always a good gift
ok,..wanted 1(one) 300,000 dollar home lol
and the registry tells if someone already got it for the couple.
If it's somrthing you don't have, and can't sneak out of Mum's house, add it to the list.
**FIREWORKS**
and who keeps this list?
ai, we re**** to inform you...
yeah...I'm gonna have to keep an eye on Aiden!!!
WTG river!!!!!
It's online, or at the store of your choice.
ty m9
you should register at more than one store.
yw mix
just don't duplicate at them
ok,if we get remarried,my registry will be at bmw canada lol!
gives people more choices as to where to go.
it's good to have dreams crossy!
this idea could be fun lol
Think Mrs.C will put you on her list?
my nephew and his wife are very outdoorsy.. and are teachers, they registered at REI, Bed Bath and Beyond and Amazon I thin.
think
lol,she might trade me in for a pair of 25 year old hunks
what?!?!? you can trade in? noone told me that!!!
don't forget to have them register at Cabela's, m9! :)
lol
trade in? gads, I just want one that will stick around!
oh, and HI all!
oh they're married now..and have a beautiful little boy
pini..great icon!
thx ;)
lol,with my friends,i would have to register at mcdonalds and wal-mart lol
one you found online?
LOL!
my dau registered at Cabela's for the baby shower! some cute baby things there! :)
Yes, m9...found it online ;)
I'm trying to remember the name of the campground where I took mine..
personal pictures are always better...but it's been rather cloudy or clear here lately
luckily I have LOTS of photos to glean from! It's just finding the pic that's problematic!
m9...are you coming to 'the gathering' in Aug?
I might have more to choose from if I actually put them on my computer...guess I'm just lazy. :)
I don't know. traveling.... I'm going up above Everett at the end of the month
which may just tap me out!
We'll have to get together sometime seeing as we're in the same state! :)
Finally finished this grid, have been popping in and out all morning
hi flosey! WTG!
thanks Pini
Whooo - I misread that, thought you said Everest.
ro 6/21 a power tool used to put decorative edging on trimwork
finished last night, yes; not today's yet tho...on lunch now to knock a few out...
ty m9, your's is lovely
here's hubby, have to get lunch! bbl
that was a bittersweet trip. nice to be camping with the fam...but we were there for a get-together with other family as memorial to my brother's wife that died.
oh, sorry to hear about your fam's loss, m9...perhaps the photo op lifted some spirits...very serene.
maybe. they were all gone then. my little brood were the only ones that stayed and camped.
but they probably had good ferry rides!
then they missed something incredibly beautiful...
although, seeing the same while being on the water was probably just as serene
yup. Pacific Northwest is very beautiful!
Puget Sound
I think so, too...that's why I've always been drawn back to it...
you're south...right? Eugene? Corvallis???
Speaking of Puget Sound...I had an English teacher in HS that tried to correct my pronunciation...she insisted it was pronounced PUGGET Sound...of all things!
Eugene/Springfield, yes
yeah...we'll have to get together! Silver Falls or something.
nice! :)
We could have done the festival... :-o
which festival?
Pugget?!?!? where was that?!?
country fair.
or whatever it's called
There's no such thing as PUGGET Sound! She insisted that's the way we were supposed to say it; boy, was she put in her place!
They're still cleaning up from the Country Fair we just had down here.
No..I meant where did you go to HS!
yes. I know many who attend
Oh, DOD school in Utah
DOD school?
nyone else have this problem - I've entered all 11 8s, but the tile stats show 10/11 - aaah, why me, lord?
I could see maybe arguing for pujay or something..
Oh, sorry...DOD = Department of Defense (HS was on a military base)
??Department of Defense - you're a spy?
I THINK that happens to me all the time.. but then I realize I've missed something.
try refreshing, christine...
well that explains it!
No, dear, my dad was an officer
pini..our icons look good together.
they do, m9
...no, silly, christine, I'm not a spy...so you're safe!
te
Nope, still shows 1/11. Well, I'll know the truth.
Spies would sleep at their desk/car, if the tracked me.
guten tag, inge
that interesting, christine?
Christine, I have had to close completely and then reopen to solve stuff like that sometimes
When I had my fingerprints taken for my visa (19650), I had bandaids on both hands, fror an accident while opening a glass jar - total of seven fingertips covered. Yet, they took my fingerprints. The only record until new card was needed about five years ago. I coulda been a spy, no record on file.
ROFL, christine...too funny
hey bugs
hello Pini, m9 and Christine. Just hoping to be here for a short time so I tried to stay in lurk mode but I am too bossy apparently
Although I'm not sure we've reached the year 19650 just yet! :)
I love being on holiday when it is good weather
well, welcome to daylight, bugs...always good to see you!
good afternoon, everyone
hi dc ;)
too bossy! really!?!?
very nice clouds seain!
so you're in a creative mood?
love the orcas, bugs...such beautiful whales!
...and, on that note, back to work for me...toodles all...until later! "Guten a haben tag!"
hasta, pini
bye pini!
Bye PIni. Have a good day
more missionaries. gonna let one have this puter.
bye!
Is your job interview tomorrow Seain?
ty, m9 -- credit to my friend Eduardo, whose foto it is. I asked him if i could use it for an icon -- i really like this shot and how he processed it
i have one tomorrow at 14 Eastern
I will be holding you in the light then. It has been a long time for you
thank you, bugsaw :)
Hello all
Stid how are you?!
*sending job thoughts to seain*&
I love the pic!
how's the grid?
I am well Bugs, it's lunch time for the class, so I am lying on the floor to babble. Need a break from being a grown-up.
like the orcas, bugs
how are you?
I am doing much better now after attending a wonderful workshop on creating my own medicine wheel. It got me unstuck
hi, stid. i think this one's a bit tough
why are you in classes again stid?
I am taking the last two classes for the reading endorsement. Literacy is my real interest...
cool, stid
so these are good ones then. I am relieved
oh well, I will just get as many as I can.
yes but by the end of the year the profs and the system were getting you down a bit.
yes, I love this teacher, and the classes (though compressed for time) are engaging.
ae5 of athena
I am still not sure I want to continue in the Master's program Bugs... but I also don't want to start all over from square one.
ooh, found the 10 :)
go seain go!
PErhaps you will have more luck getting a job sooner without it because with it, they have to pay you more.
YAY Seain. I am still looking for athena clue
hi babblers
hi, jbv
classical greek reference, bugs
lots of teachers get their masters at the same time as they teach so their lesson plans get double duty
have it now dc, thanks
are you still taking classes this summer, stid?
yes, many here start teaching before the master of ed, and complete in a year or two as job condition.
seain, that's a beautiful photo - where was it taken?
hey JBV, just two classes
Hi, hoping we finally get some rain here.
hang in there stid!
hi iall.. bichon you probably will, it's been pouring here
rain just passed through here this morning, bichon, not enough, but I guess it's on its way to you
hi doren, we had just a shower
hey jbv..that is funny. we've had at least an inch or so
Valencia in June 2007 "Facade Against the Sky" it is entitled. Friend was there for Las Fallas
It looks like scorched here in CT
hello again Seain, stuggling to finish, ha!
thanks mcurl anad all
wonderful, bichon -- we got some gentle rain yesterday finally, too
back in a few.
howdy, george. yes this one is tough
oh, lovely, for very personal reasons, Valencia is my most FAVORITE city in Spain - beautiful!
I'm fond of Barcelona, myself :)
anyone have the ta7? i was wishing it wouldbe one who studies the russian forest, but no
well it wasn't too bad, till near the end of the list!!
better than barcelona jbv?
just because of particular memories, doren - Spain is fantastic all over
think of a wine ta7
when I was a young teacher and had all summer off, I traveled to Spain for the whole summer for six years in a row!
yes... i enjoyed it more than i thought i would.. seville, madrid .. but barcelona was outrageous
ah ta7 as the ha7. ty, minski
for me Barcelona is the best of NYC and the best of DC, all in one
ooh, ta for that clue Seain, didn't even see that!
thanks minski... should have known to look for a gerund.. there are great ones today
(and even a little bit of paris, seain)
got everything else but, ha!
if I had the chance I would love to go back and get reacquainted with the new modern Spain -
that's the only ta word I currently have.
a part of me considers moving there now and again, jbv
Spain's gorgeous, been lot's of times, got some lovely photos!!
wow, big decision, seain
yeah I had a property for a while in Ibiza, Seain
i do love it here around DC, though :)
I've heard Ibiza is lovely; i've only been to Mallorca
oh yeah, I see, I work there from time to time, both are really nice though!!
very dear friend retired to mijas... never got a chance to see it... he passed away too soon
may he rest in peace, doren
the cicadas are loud today
ty dc... i miss him dreadfully
must be Summer :)
doren, you have my condolences re the cave crickets -- they're very common in the South and I had a TON of them in my crawl space till I started paying for someone to come spray quarterly!
does anyone have the un8? I have the un7 but they don't seem related -- I think........
less comfortable, minski
i have no U words, minski
un + harder
yeah, I need both of those as well, tough to see!?
sorry to hear about your friend, doren
cave crickets suck - they supplanted the crickets of my youth around here back in the 90s.
yes... but to have one in your own personal bathroom.. sitting atop the toilet paper! that is the end
oops, I meant un + not harder
tomorrow we are bombi
dorens, they used to get in my house too -- GROSS!!
tomorrow we are cleaning out the garage and "bombing" it
hope your cave cricket nuking is a success!
years ago I had a guy working under my house who was totally freaked out by them!
i've had three lately who had the temerity to enter my bedroom/bathroom (above the garage) and when I went downstairs and investigated i found a huge infestation .. hope this will be their demise... don't like to kill creatures, but these deserve it! particularly when they jump at you. very freaky
in know -- they don't bite but they're just CREEPY
*I know
Seain, is it any less steamy in DC?
nope. temp's down a bit, but the humidity is still up there
ooohhh, love your icon!
back before AC in the schools, we used to get heat days -- temp of 85F or higher and humidity of 85% or higher, schools closed
ty, une, edu does lovely work, you should check his flickr -- link in my profile
my daughter in law is there now, studying at the folger... i pity her, since she's used to massachusetts weather
i well remember sweating buckets wehn we went back to school in August . . .
*when
oh, but for studying at the Folger, SO worth it!
tx seain, will check out Eduardo :-)
finally got the un8. didn't have the ea6 so wasn't seeing it.
yes, she
she's actually really loving it.... lots of work, but she enjoys it all
gotta go. almost time to pick up kid from camp bus stop. ttfn.
hm. i'm obviously missing the correct ea6. looking...
it should be ea**** than it is, apparently
she living in DC, doren?
yes, they put them up in dorms at local college
oh, at GW?
i was contemplating driving down sometime to visit her. but this heat has sort of put me off the idea
i know they let out their dorms often in the summers
take the train :)
don't remember... thought she said american but I'm not sure... it's a NEH grant
and there's a reason we do the museums in the Summer ;)
doren, have you had any news about jobs being restore din your district?
AU has a great campus, and Tenleytown, where it's located, is a nice neighborhood
still waiting j... there was a very expensive person who retired, and supposedly that should be nearly enough to re-employ me... but still haven't heard anything.. which means I will accept unemployment insurance!
ours posted a whole bunch of teaching jobs, including two librarian positions
i shouldlook into it, seain... was hoping a friend would come down with me, but that doesn't seem happening
keeping fingers crossed, dorens -- was thinking about you just his morning . . .
*this
ours posted several instructional assistants for special ed last week, which made me kind of nervous
I hope everything works out for you doren
wondering if they're going to pay for them out of what was supposed to be "my" money
back again
hey, stiddy :-)
maybe you can collect for a while and in September you'll get the call to start work again - best of both worlds!
hi stid! (and thanks une and j)
beautiful family portrait
i think i'd rather hear from them in august, actually
cake cricket? nuking???
YAY Doren!
sorry for yelling
well i have a good chunk of the 7's and the 8's but no luck so far with 9 and 10.... un_____ing maybe? *think*
i have the clear soups
plural of that is the other 6.27
plural of what?
back from the vet, both of us are still in one piece
wheee! crossy is having fun with words ending in ing:)
what was the verdict peri?
i have the clear soupos. still need a br 6/27
not sure yet, crossy. they did a bladder e=x-ray that showed two small crystals. and her bladder lining appeared thick. they did a geriatric blood panel and a urinalysis and culture and senstivity
crossy found the fishie!
need to see if she still has an infection
the cat hospital would have charged over $800, but the vet I took her back to only charge $450.
ahh crystals in the urine..our cat had that...need to go to a high end,low ph wet food and almost no dry food"
results will be back in a day or two
have you got a cat drinking fountain?
no hurshy
cat drinking fountain is wonderful :)
br 6/27 sounds like a hair color, not blonde or black (ends in what you catch fish with)
what brand do you recommend crossy?
my cat and my rabbit both love it
our cat was bleeding from the crystals before we fixed her diet
that is a good way to encourage them to drink more and that helps their urinary system.
no bleeding here thank goodness
and not very expensive.
the drinkwell one is far superior to the petsmart one.
it is a vet brand,only available from the vet himself,it comes with a blue or brown label and is about 1.50 per tin
how are your cats, hurshy?
they are all great. :)
i have the deluxe fresh flow fountain
any vet supplied low ph will do peri
by Petmate
ok
and reduce dry food to a treat only
can i get help with the 9 and 10, please?
en7-10-8, the act of encouraging/begging
ah thanks, that finishes off that E, too
ty dc
ou 9/72 consuming more than others
ou9 - what conestants of a hot dog contest are doing
will have to remove the dry food. I am currently giving her Friskies wet for cats with urinary issues
nice clue
thanks
ty again dc
those hot dog contests and other food ea**** contests are horrible to watch.
ashy wet foods can cause bladder crystals, too
i agree, peri
hi, can I jump in with a computer question - with almost no understanding at all, i'm trying to understand something about SKype...
this food has lower ash. I see that Paul Newman has wet food for sale at the supermakret
low ph,low ash is the way to go now
yes jbv?
i use skype
If someone wants to call me do we both have to have the same program on our computer?
i think so, JBV.
this is someone in Europe - I have no idea what we need to make this work
but since it's free software, that's not such a problem
evening every one - i am stuck on the first 4 res
both need skype for free calls,BUT you can call from skype to land line or landline to skype..for a fee
you also must both have microphones either built in or attached, and webcams if you want to see each other.
if you both have skype you can call free like i do with my brother in costa rica
we both have microphones and webcams, just trying to figure out how to get connected
lol,yes you need mics
you give you friend your skype adress and he puts it on his list
so anyone anywhere can download Skype? - sorry this is so basic, but I'm a newbie
i don't have all the R's and haven't listed yet.
and you do the same with his skype addy
yes, anyone can download skype
it is basic indeed
unless china has blocked it or something. but europe, yeah, no probs.
anyone can talk skype to skype for free
peri, i have a cat, 13 yrs old .. have recently changed her food to MediCal Dental .. pricey, but it's formulated for senior cats with "issues"
ok, thank you - i'll keep at it...
the frist re is a chemical word, re and spy perhaps?
give me you skype addy peri and i will call you and set you up
jbv*
the second is re a vowel and an alcoholic drink made from juniper berries
the third is a plural of the second
and the fourth is the first minus the first vowel
I have a friend in China -- so far, skype is allowed there
is it the same as my email address? told you I have no clue
it also means king
bbs
you can search for someone on skype based on their actual name, the email address they used to register, or the "handle" they picked for skype (like our babble names)
i hope those help
thanks, hurshy
i didn't have the second or third, so they helped me jacq~
thanks for the offer, crossy, i'll let you know if I need you
i can't remember who needed them lol
it was me - thanks to all
Skype is so easy just goole it download it and set up your account takes 5 minutes as long as you have a mic and webcam y r all set.
Hi all
yes jbv,you can also add people via their e-mailaddy
My daughter is studying in Spain for the summer and skype is great
crossy love skype
me too crossy
if you have a web cam and a mic why not just use hotmail or another messenger and chat online, those all do voice and viceo
video
there is that 2 second lag,but it is not a big deal breaker
Still working grid with 171 to go here popping back out
skype has a cleaner picture jacq
ok
and if you wish,you can use skype as your primary home phone for around 30 dollars per year
we are at the point where we are ready to dump our traditional land line in favor of smart phones and skype
i understand the benefits now ty
But there is a cavet,skype cannot do 911 ,so in my case i have to dial my police station direct and then they hook me to dispatch
(which can cause problems if you're incapacitated and don't have the police station's number handy)
and .. if you don't update your physical address with your online phone provider and get patched to a 911 dispatch, they won't have a current address for you
our cop station is town number and 4321..so not a big issue in this case
indeed,you have to be able to speak your address
but with the smart phones in harmony with skype it is ok,i cannot live my life poised for a future disaster..not a way to live
i can hot key emergency services to a single button with the i-phone anyways
our plan is for a pair of those amazing i-phone 4,s;)
and i am rambling again..sorry to hog the chog lol
b routh
who would your provider be, crossy? here in alberta, the plans are extremely expensive, especially if you want a data plan, too
here i have 3 choices welki....
rogers, shaw and bell?
bell mobility...tellus and rogers...
oops, telus, not shaw
for a half decen voice and data plan i am going to have to pay around 80 per mont,per phone
but i am saving 70 from the old land line and 20 each per month on the old pay as you go cells we have atm
we're paying 107/month for an iPhone 3G ... includes 1G data
oucH!! our 80 per mongh gives os 500 anytime mins,five mubers unlimited voice,mssg,dada and 2 gig of data
damn typos
those five unlimited numbers are the key to the package
i feel much better now that i types in "insignia"...
we get 500 anytime minutes, an option of extra minutes or texting and the 1G of data .. that's it
i'm moving to ontario!
too expensive for that pack welki
but i think this voice data pack at 80 dollars is ok
and that's through who? telus?
wife can add my number and her moms number to the unlimited 5 list and ill add her to mine and my sons phone
tellus or rogers
ours is through rogers
bell only offers gig of data on the 80 plan
Fireworks at last
yaa for kazz
i will be able to babble on my i-phone;))
hahaha, have you tried it? it ain't easy
katie tried that - she said it ws a bit askward but she managed
no,the phones are not here just yet and those that were shipped are sold out,so i must wait for next pre-order
im waiting for the new 4g
now .. package the G4 iPhone with a 64G iPad .. with voice and data plan and i'd be sold
lol you are not asking for much lol
ipad is lovely
:)
i have already scoped out all our fav i=phone apps
i heard that android is coming out with an iPad sort of device, one that you can toggle between applications .. a BIG plus
android is the wolf at apples heels around here
android (phone) already does that ... now THAT would be a helluva package ... if it was available here
we have alreay save 50% of the cost of the new i-phones so it is good they are not shiiped yet as we are not quite ready
droid phones are superior to iphones -- the support open standards
it will be soooo good to dump this outdated overpriced land line
i have waited 40 years to tell bell canada to go to hell
who makes the android phone?
hmmm ... just looked it up, google!
android = operating system
(and then different manufacturers use it in their phones .. HTC, Samsung, LG, etc)
i see..
here we go
http://www.htc.com/ca/
hehehe, sounds like such a good plan until you start looking at all the different models ... and then the different plans ... then it just gets to be a p.i.t.a.
reviews at: http://www.androidmobilephone.com/
indeed,i just ran into the same pita
i think i sahll stay with my original plan,and blackberry lost by a nose also
the blackberry is better if you travel,then you can swap simm cards as needed
lucky for me, all my kids are techno-savvy and do all the research (and testing) before i make a purchase .. they tell me what they've purchased and then, like a sheep, i follow their lead :)
if you generally stay in the same province or state then it is a non issue
lol welki
roaming is ridiculous no matter where you go or what you have ... best to buy a phone card and leave the phone home
i do all the techno for this house,i researched for a year before i chose my wife reader
not so bad if you buy your phone in the states (my kids call here free) ... but the reverse is never true
it's pretty funny, crossy ... when we do make independent purchases, both the kids and we find we buy the same products
well with the newer smart phones you ncan do a double whammy,you load skype into your cell and call the kids that way
doesn't it use a lot of data?
data is only used during page turns i believe,or ims etc..im still researching it all
clue please for tge in 7/40
i am going to be running my internet through my cabler line,that way my land phone line becomes totally redundant
don't have it sammy .. sorry
here's the answer, crossy: kype recommends an unlimited data usage plan for using Skype over a mobile data connection to avoid being charged by a wireless service provider for 3G, GPRS and EDGE mobile data usage.
what is it you want sammy?
ahh ok now we know
in 7/40 please
In + to visualize
hi river (hoping things are starting to sort themselves out on your end)
well sort of - next surgery scheduled for Friday
and thanks for the clue
thanks river
yw
this is the pacemaker surgery? or the aneurysm surgery?
aneurysm and whatever else they think - we are meeting with the Docs in Boston on Thursday - will find out then what they plan to do
you're blessed that you're in the states ... i'm thinking that things wouldn't move so quickly up here in canada. BUT ... i'd bet you're here for some "normal" time, so let's dance :)
Hi Crossy - dont go away
where's he going?
I'm quite surprised it is this fast too - almost scary
I dont know welki - but I tend to kill the chog lately when I make an appearance - I totally understand though - this is a happy place - thats why I come
I have exciting news - my DH has been staying home with Keith as he cant be alone - special suppers made two night in a row - new recipes and everything - whoohooooooooo
nah, i don't think you kill the chat. i think that chat is always iffy ... sometimes on, sometimes off, sometimes populated by lurkers. sure, some folks might be uncomfortable because they don't know what to say, but this community is pretty supportive
DH = Dear Husband?
it is extremely supportive
supper ready when you get home? now, if there has to be a perk for all you've gone through, that's a great one!
sounds great river...we're having french toast tonite ala me.
yes bichon but in my case not quite so dear but will use it anyway
im still here riverdance
<-- is on holidays and has been "trapped" in the trailer for three days during what appears to be a monsoon!
you can vent and unload you are on me anytime riverdance
homemade lasagna with a beef and smoked sausage filling along with fresh grated cheeses (I saw him doing it)
your cares*
ohhhh, i think i might faint...
crossy head snaps around as he see the lasagne
beef...smoked saussage..cheese
Welki - camping in a monsoon - been there, done that - we do it in a tent though - was in tent 2 years ago when tornado touched down a couple miles away - yikes
Oh so sorry crossy - wasnt thinking straight
its going to be yucky
Fireworks! Anyone need clues
weird you should mention that, river. 10 yrs ago, not 10 feet from where we park our trailer, a tornado ripped through .. 11 dead
whooohoooo bichon
(and i'm too old for tent camping .. been there, paid my dues many years ago :)
my god..i want that lasagna!
not 10 feet, but 100 feet
we're having lasagna, too, but store bought
we still tent camp (oh my aching back) because we have always pulled a boat for fishing - not taking 2 cars on vacation
have a great self inflating foam pad from cabelas
its so good we cant even roll it
when we go on the road, we pull a boat behind the motor home ... but once, we took an extra vehicle so we wouldn't have to pack up every time we wanted to venture away from the camp site
we have been doing some remote camping these last few years in Maine - you boat in your stuff or hike in a 1/2 mile from logging road - trust me, we boat in as much as we can
ohhh, that sounds great, but like you said, 'ohhh, your aching back!
i have to go for a while ... happy lasagna!
you got that right - so cure from lugging is laying on the sandy beach with an icy cocktail
bye welki = enjoy
now about this lasagna...
will let you know after I taste test it - if good - will post recipe
ty riverdance
we all need someting to look forward to......
and all the best wishes for your son
so you are doing well on your *clears throat* diet
Hi babblers, have had a week's hiatus with travels, nice to be back with you all!!
thanks crossy - will see you on tomorrow most likely - nice to see the lovely Mrs Crossy on today
Hi Jilly
8 pounds on month 1..2 ponds on moth 2.../
month
howdy jilly
hi crossy and river!
if you watch the biggest loser the 2nd weigh in is always the worst so congrats on the loss of 2 - whoohooo
btw crossie...I'm finding all that poundage ur losing....lol
oh no jilly - I found it first....
poor jilly:(
yah, not walking and blood pressure up a bit....can someone give me a quick kick in the behind!!??
i have a food freedom day on the 6th of every month..may try the lasagna if riverdance gives it her seal of approval
Hey Jilly - my brother left Sunday from NH and travelling to Billings on his motorcycle
funny,i spend all my working days walking,funny how the body adapts
Wow, that's quite a ride River...why Billings as a destination?
I need to start something as my metabolism shut down completely when I quit smoking - no eating any more but putting on the poundage
same here riverdance i slowly gained 50 pounds when i quit
in 7 years
bother
there is a Blue Knights Convention there - he has been in law enforcement for a long time - Blue Knights is the law enforcement motorcycle organization
whoops
mea culpa
ugh.....
have lost 12 of it to date,but long way to go
so he is taking a week to ride out - his wife is flying out to stay a week and then he is taking a week to ride home
Cool River, if he has time, have him go over the Beartooth highway into Yellowstone, it's an unbelievable ride and view
thats great crossy - they say if you do it slowly and the right way it will stay off versus the quick loss tricks you gain back plus - so GOOD JOB
one tip i have found,replace buns and normal bread with whole wheat bagels..it makes a huge difference
Thanks Jilly - I will - I need to call him anyway so perfect
I only eat wheat anyway - have gained 10 in 12 weeks - just need some physical activity - but this 90 degree weather is killing me along with the mega deer flies
i went from buying 4 loaves of bread for the house and 3 tubs of margerin ,to 1 loaf of bread,1 tub of margering and 8 bagels per week
damn,damn typos
and the kid uses the reg bread
dont you know that babblelites read right through typos
neat eh?
but we do use real butter with our wheat- oops, so sorry
thats what i like about babble any other site and the4y drone on and on about your typos.telling you ten ways to respell it,and how many time a day you mess up..but we just whisk right by it;))
mm.butter...
supper is ready - will let you all know how great this lasagna is
ugh. Crossy. there should be an apostraphe in that first word of your comment. I don't know if I can continue reading the things you write....
River, tell him to take Hwy 212 off Interstate 90 west of Billings. It'd be a day trip unless they wanted to see Yellowstone park; then more
thats one place i do not scrimp with the diet..i get butter or 100% olive oil margerines..thise diet spreads are mostly water and you just end up with soggy bagels
ciao
lol m9
going for dinner myself....back l8r babblers
thanks Jilly
mmmmm real butter. All the way! And olive oil. And Aiden has some fabulous blood orange infused olive oil.
i get the cold pressed extra virgin olive oil for cold uses and virgin oil for stir frys as the second has a higher smoking point
crossy loves rice and stir fry veggies
m9 does too!
although last night.. we really carbed out.
hehe why are you speaking in the third person m9? crossy never does this
Aiden grew bok choi this year.
I stand corrected. He doesn't.
crossy is happy now
m9 is glad.
i am glad all those people got that all sorted out;)
so are we!
hi all. how's the grid? i need to de-stress.
it's a fun 1st half and then not too searchy second.
cool. diving in.
just fed the hub a lovely roasted pork tenderloin with a rosemary , basil , garlic crust . Along with steamed carrots broc cauli,in a mock cheese sauce , with whole grain brown rice and a beautiful reduction of the pan drippings for an au jus.. Just sharing : )
nice dandelion
niiice mamawa
will leave the leftovers in pb
it's a nod to my nickname, "weed"
hey y'all
hm. must be gonna rain, as it's a lot darker than should be for this time.
nummy. but what is mock cheese sauce?
hi, m9, feather, leeanne, mamawa, et al
hmmm.. I think that calls for a different plant..
a white ro** with lite cheese
hi seain
lol, i'm keeping it PG
:) and there's the thunder, right on cue!
ah. gotchya.
we had ours earlier - rain and lightning and thunder
and, no, i'm not weed for THAT kind of weed! just weeds in general.
I had that here about 4hrs ago dc so right on cue!!
we actually got some gentle showers yesterday.
we need the rain -- crops are on the verge of failing
kje started it. she called her sister, who was also named heather, weed, to annoy her.
we had ungentle ones yesterday too
ro** isn't on the grid. at least not the sauce. the lecher is here though.
NC
it backfired, i wasn't annoyed, i liked it for some odd reason.
alt spelling of ro*x is here
ro** all vowels
but then it's not a sauce. it's a creep. a bad guy
I didnt want to spell it in case I messed up but I knew it was in the puzzle LOL
I actually know someone named Rue Kream. isn't that awesome!
doesn't she sound like a fabulous new orleans dessert?
and now you all know the secret of my famous sauces.... could be a bad man or a thickening mix LOL
or sounds like a stripper m9 hahah
Hi Babblers. Back to finish
hi wht
I ru* the day I fed that ru** my ro*x!
nice. I won't tell you her FIL's name then.
Hi wht!
ha ha
funny
back to this giant grid happy babbling folks : )
can someone clue me the he?
he7-- gerund of he4.5, like in the Winter
he6 - adv meaning at this time
oops. this puter deletes words. that's the LAST he please.
hi all..what if i just ask for every last one of the words i need?!
thanks... got it!
Clue for the ag8 please
i've done that, TO, so has Stid :)
lol... how many TO?
If it is less than 241 TO it would probably be OK.
lol is that a rule now?
ag8 -- gerund of ag5 that seems to mean biased against age
may i begin with the un 7 & 8?
Since when was anything I said a rule? It certainly wasn't the case with my kids. :^)
un7 - unenthused
un8 - more diffiuclt, or more discomfitted
That ag is another strange word from the bowels of Enable.
quite so, wht :)
un7 and 8 end in E words
ty got the 8
and the 7
pretty much, why do you ask?
dunno - we're pretty open. Peri?
te6.21 number + a***mobile
what date would you prefer Owl?
ty dcs
more like what i would not prefer. it is a date i stay close to home
Owl?
she'd rather not the 11th, but the 4th or 18th would work, i think she's saying :)
the 4th is Labo Day weekend, what do you think dc?
Labor even
we don't usually travel that weekend, though many do.
meaning, we're available
okfolks ,lighning. time to go
would you be willing to travel, dc?
be well, TO
i personally would not like to ask folks to travel on that holiday
totally, peri -- saturday traffic that weekend is light :)
it is dangerous
*poof*
I was happy with 9/11
by TO.
hasta, TO
We're good with that day, too, peri
there will always be ata least one person who is not happy with the date
a Sunday DC meetup will happen in October, but not Columbus Day weekend.
but it looks like if we keep it on 9/11 Owl will not come
it'll be scheduled to coincide with the reopening of lil*monkey's mom's gallery
what kind of gallery?
and aug dates are not good?
art gallery
an artist co-op gallery - -mostly paintings and related visual arts
Augs is the middle of the summer and lots of tourists in center city
i've only been to Philly in the Fall or Spring :) but i can day trip, so not the same
not sure how popular the restaurant is or how big it is. want to avoid tourists tho
coolio :)
wel since I am making the arrangements I should have the final say
philly in october?
well, DC in October, though i guess we could do 2 in one month. Philly and DC are close together
i agree, peri :)
i should be ready for a trip east right around then (october) ... hope i can arrange it :)
so, the 11th it is then?
will think about 9/18. that is my sister's birthday but she died in 2000 so technically I could say I do not want it on that day.
i'll see if monkey has the date yet for DC
at the moment yes, dc
alright, sounds good :)
think iPhone, iPad .. then iFabric
i kept thinking of that with an een ending.
I am ag6 that you still haven't found it.
lol
ag6 - years old discrimination person
extend that ag6 to ag8
double Evan Williams Vintage Bourbon on the rocks anyone? it's the 1998.
kje, isn'nt that the ag5?
Actually it is the last ag5 that you extend for the ag8. It is an alternate spelling
hell no dc... would be wasted on me
yes, feather, our bad
same word, additional letter, feather
i like bourbon, but i'm afraid it would be wasted on me
still extend it for the 8
ahhhhh, ty
wow, for some reason Stagger Lee popped into my brain
aww, neat jac
Good evening to my fellow babblers!How is everyone?
We gave their Mum lots of food when she was expecting them and after she'd had them, but they need to learn how to find their own food.
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
Hi Min. How are you doing?
cool, jac
hi min ;)
te6/21 please?
Hey Min
ig7 - firestarter
is6 -- a variety of fabric from Apple
Min - glad to hear you are well. And, as dffor Babbling, that's up tp to you.xxx
brb (dinner)
Hi Min. Just signing off. I have over 100 words so am feeling somewhat redeemed.
te6 = te + mad person on tree fruit + vowel.
finally got the flame starter - super duh
*or tree fruit
say wha?
Hello stidgmere! Good for you. That is over 100 more than what I have so far and what I'll ever have today
oh, lol. on vs. or makes a difference!
redeemed - that's a good word.
got it.
I must just pause to thank Homer Simpson for getting the word 'DUH' and plural into the Scrabble dictionary. It won me a game earlier.
He aalso gor 'doh' into the dictionary.
It's 3am here and I'm typing slightly wrongly. But you know what I meant to say.
top to6/21 please?
okay more than 1/2 better than any other day of late! Nytol!
I'm off to bed now, still wondering why some niece of my cousin's ex-wife flamed me on Facebook at the weekend. All I can say is, since the ex-wife removed me from her friends list beofre I could do same to her but with an explanation, is that if that member of her family is representative of all, Irish tinker, methinks, then I see why my cousin got out.
I am outta here now!Hopefully I can babble tomorrow
Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow
night jac and min
g'night jac and minve
to6 = t + 'not you but ano.....
Oh, I see my stepdaughter has the electric fan on in her rooom again. It cost £1.50 for 8 hours and she has it on all night for about 10 hours, and has done for past 3 weeks.
hello friends. and huzzah for feather!!!!
take it out of her allowance?
hi trif
hey tor
If she left her window open when she got home from school and ddidn't draw down the blackout blind whilst watching TV and running her laptop, it migt not be so warm in her rooom when she comes to go to sleep. Also, I can hear the fan!
take the fan away and give her the instructions just noted?
I could use a nudge for the i in the right column - anyone, please?
Pink - I may have to do that.
i + shiny fabric
thx une
yw :-)
ig7 -- firestarter
she'll just have to learn money doesn't grow on trees, right, jac?
thank you!!!! nbt at last!
Pink - yes. Just a pity that her Daddy pays that particular bill.
go, trif!!
perhaps you should remind dad that it doesn't grow on trees either ?
oh, DREAD -- tertiare just finished her shower...now I have to brush her hair. Screaming and teeth grinding to follow....argh!
J&J no more tangles does wonders
good luck, trif!
Long hair, tangled, then? Can't be worse than my ddaughter's wait-length hair after we came back from a day in Iceland and shee'd swam in the Blue Lagoon.
ne7, pls?
oh my, jac!
ne7 = not positiving
just shave the head bald...told my girls that.. carry one when we do your hair? it gets cut so short it won't be an issue
on*
Salt-laden water, trying to wash it out after a flight to get back home. Now that wass legendary.
that's ne8, pini
now there's an idea, Kalyn!
oh, sorry, dc
oh, the one who is the 7, ty
ne7 = the person that does the ne8
I would NEVER shave the head, even if nits were present. A girl needs her hair.
that's what wigs are for, jac!
i threw together some soup, and stir-fried and braised the carrots to perfection :)
it worked.. even when they had.. the little crawlies from school..never a complaint about doing their hair..they knew I meant it..and both had waist length hair
Look how bereft Sinead O'Connor was...
ok, perhaps bald is a little extreme, perhaps a boy-cut?
http://tinyurl.com/37vdfhc
now my niece.. kept her head shaved from age 9 to almost 12.. she liked it that way ..but yes.. I would do a pixie cut very short if needed..just told them i wouldn't stop til it was shaved :P
Pink - wigs make you itch!
a good-quality wig is indistinguishable from real hair
hey, I'm tryin' here!!! :)
Still makes you itch, though, dcs!
Hello...
Hi Jellen.
hi jellen
I need a hug...
you put a do-rag over the scalp, voila... no itch
(((jellen)))
Tim's in the hospital again, we hope just for the night...
oh, dear :(
oh no, jellen! sorry to hear; hope he comes home quickly!
wooo hoooo, my first big tile is grey! (F)
brb (timer)
oh, so sorry to hear that, jellen :-(
other than stressed/upset, you doing okay -- are you eating?
He's having one more MRI and having a port put in so they can start chemo ASAP...
I eat when I'm stressed :-S
okay then :) hydrated?
Yup, hydrated...
good. glad to hear you're taking care of you
do try to get some rest, even if at hospital
I'm at home...
Will drive back tomorrow...
ah, now that i know what a 1st gh5 is, ag6 makes a lot of sense. We have so many words for apparitions/specters
is it far?
90 miles
that's no too bad. I hope he improves quickly
back. didn't get it finished, due to hysterics from the "victim" -- honest to god, I don't know how much more of this I can take....it's always a MAJOR production, complete with howls of "child abuse!"
get her a Dorothy Hamill cut
Poor Trif!
I am two seconds away, I promise!
had a lovely day prior to this....work in the morning, and then off to the beach with the girls. primo was at an all-day rock fest, so he's a happy guy. it's all good.
make her take of her own hair, trif; that'll teach her!
we tried that pini-- she just doesn't do it, and then it gets all matted and impossible.
how old is she, trif?
dreadlocks are in nowadays!
Oh, then snip, snip!
for dreds, have to start short
I'm sure matted and impossible might fast-track that, dc!
11, but with some issues, welki. the ped told me to ignore it until some girl or boy at school tells her she is yucky, tells her hair is gross, etc, and then apparently she will fix it herself. But oh, the idea of letting it wait that long!
does she care about her hair? i mean, does it matter to her what it looks like? (so long as she lets water pour over it in the shower, i'd vote with the ped ... even though i know it must be driving you nuts)
no, she doesn't care. not at all.
perhaps shortening it to a length she can manage on her own, but still long enough that she can ask to doll it up?
evening all
hi magy
you know what? I am giving up on it for now. I just want to finish the grid. she can go pound tar, I have had enough of her dramz for one day.
hi, magy
hello magyk
maybe she does care ... or she wouldn't have gotten so upset. **kids**
give her the comb...make her do it; otherwise, consider following ped's orders?
I am actually pretty sure this is another facet of her learning issues coming to the forefront. she really may be experiencing this as torture - she does not integrate stimuli correctly at all times, so it may actually be painful....
oh, sorry, to hear, trif
thanks. moving on....
then maybe let it be ... water, bottles of 'no more tangles' and time
gi5/20?
gi + cons, cons vowel, looks rather scots/irish
got it! thx dc
last ge6, pls?
no clue, yet, dc
ge + monthly fee for apartment
Thanks, Pini...
hi jell, how r things ur way?
i've been doing laundry through the grid. even changed the sheets
I hate laundry
I don't mind laundry, but, I hate dishs
but, I like to make lots of pans though
cute, weiik ;)
just wish I could make a living cooking ..
i like washing dishes, not so fond of drying/putting away
hey dc, don't you have a dish rack, and some counter space?
that's what dishwashers are for (automatic or kid-variety)
Just a quick word to say that I can't get into my Face book account because it's being hacked again.Whatever's going on there now, is not me.
ta5/14?
oh no, jac!!!!
jac, any idea who it is?
ae + ** Joe (soldier) + plural letter
thx jellen!
My brother's ** Joe used to date my Barbie when Ken wasn't looking...
thxks jell, can't believe i missed that, I used to work on that project in the '80s for the navy
too funny, jellen ;)
i remember that project -- the gov't contractors ran ads about it all the time in the newspaper, the tv, and the radio
yes, was a good contract for me, at least 6 yrs IT work ... boy do I miss those days .
where you located, weiik?
any ideas for the ai6?
central Jersey, off of willingboro, where the ship is located in the field on 295
i live in Reston, NW of the city nowadays. plan to move to Arlington in the Fall
thxks, I've eatten enough today already ...
I had friends in reston back in '75 ... real rural then .. what's it like now?
cool, weiik. we're planning a babble meet-up in Philly on Sep 11 or 18 -- see periwinkle's profile for details.
thxks I will put on calendar .... who is in phily beside templeowl?
110,000 people and 75k jobs in Reston today. Fully built-out, and they're redeveloping parts more densely now
oh, lest we forget our manners...welcome to The Grid! you will be assimilated, resistance is futile
aside from VA7 and the toll road, still mostly 2-lane roads connecting us to the world, though :) Baron Cameron is 4 lanes today.
yes, what pini said :D
* giggle *
I used to see a girl out there with a '61 vette in the mid '70s ... think herndon area
TempleOwl, Periwinkle, CiociaJudy is nearby, nrkii is in Lamberton... few others i'm not recalling
does anyone have the 2nd sa5/14?
Herndon is next door - i can walk there in about 10 minutes.
not me
sa5 -- add a vowel in the norse sa4
HUH?
huh?
* snap * minski! :)
boy do I miss those years ... I used to trowel dc at night with all the office people, life alot simpler then
got it!
a norse sa4 -- put a vowel into it for sa5.14
add a vowel to the first sa4!
yes it was weiik
this region has changed TONS in my lifetime - i grew up here.
1 in 10 people in Virginia today lives in Fairfax County
1 in5 lives in Northern Virginia.
DC and the MD burbs have grown a lot too.
wow dc, one of the few, my daughter was born there, but, I understood that most are transients, myself on 9 yrs
even the riot-damaged bits of DC are going upscale right now. The neighborhood i used to live in near 13th and H NE is MUCH nicer than was even 10 years ago.
got it.
down to 31...and huffin' and puffin'
yeah, lots of transients. THere's a group of us that grew up where i did - Dale City. we're the ones that stayed put as DOD moved the neighbors through.
do the streeet people in the city still have a flair about them???
Down to 180...brb
now I can go to bed. I still have 87 words left to find but it is 11:40pm and bedtime. Nighty-night all.
can I get a nudge fo the ag6/24?
well done, minski!
hb jellen!
not as much. after Reagan turned the people for St Elizabeth's on the streets, ver colorful street people. They're mostly dead now, and mental healthcare is more available.
g'night minski, well done
when I worked in china town at GAO, I used to park by 61 vette on the street and at the end of the day it was there when I came back for it ...
impressive, weiik!!!
in late 80s, it god bad enough that it was made illegal for street people to touch passers-by.
one street guy I met actually fell to his death on the steps in georgetowne that were famous
oh my
yeah, a few died that way for the years, falling down the stairs toward the liquor store
ouch!
remember the exorcist? I walked those going to IBM school in arlington
*ahem* ag6/24?
er, through the years. Georgetown is much nicer than was- got all yuppified
oh, cool, weiik
the movie did not lie about those stairs . just the hosue
ag6.24 - biased against the old or young
i thought that was the last ag5!
spell it out fully
ar6?
oh, I got it...just didn't pursue it cuz I thought it was the last
that last ag5 means "in English law, to take cattle to graze, in exchange for payment. Agistment originally referred specifically to the proceeds of pasturage in the king's forests, but now means either (a) the contract for taking in and feeding horses or other cattle on pasture land, fo"
well off to sleep .. .night all poof
ag6 - silver
Night, weiik
