heh, west - i'm in flagstaff so blame it on arizona
good story jilli
thought you might have left utah josh flagstaff's nice too
what's your final destination josh?
ty flosey
home, I would guess
I meant before heading home lol
unless he's moving
my final destination is ending up in toronto in time for the film festival in september
though i'll probably get there a few weeks early to spend quality time with the lady
and i am moving, incidentally
to where, josh?
sounds like a great trip and where are you moving? we need to have an open house for you
to toronto
but then the destination is home anyway
i am a nomad at heart, so in essence traveling is home for me
does that mean you have a new job?
oh you poor thing, josh (spoken as an ex-Montrealer)
home is where the heart is grem
not yet west. that is the fun task ahead of me. that and immigration
is there a rivalry jilli?
that will take awhile I hear
no kidding. it may be several months of waiting no matter how compelling my case is
long time rivalry, west, lol ;)
vive le quebec libre
but friendly jilli like Sydney and Melbourne
(remind me not to put that on my work permit application)
I guess so, west :)
I envy you josh..all that adventure ahead of you
grrrr, josh. I was talking anglo Montreal.
friendly like Sydney and Melbourne...hahaha
hi diz lol
nudges for the lower left e? lower right o? and L?
(for NBT)
personally i prefer melbourne to sydney, but both have their charms
he west and all
jilli I was just wondering if Quebec celebrates Bastille Day
(wish I could travel like, josh!)
his diz
lower left e is es7, lower right o is o4/4, l is l4/4
phantom: eskimo
meant HI!!!
I wish I could make the comparison in person lots of great people from both places..Perth too
sounds scary pini
pretty much every dime i have earned working since i was a teenager i have spent on traveling
i even sold a car once to fund a 7 month excursion
No, west -- their big day is June 24 -- used to be St Jean Baptiste Day, now Quebec "Fete Nationale")
you're my kind of guy josh you'll never regret it

nice silver linings, pini!
and happy birthday to your sister too
Hi everyone. Hope this is an easy grid because I don't have a lot of time today
hi anike I'm sure you'll be done in no time
hi anike -- some have found it easy, I guess -- not me though.
jilli I love your icon blurb too
thanks
with lickety I finished in 28 minutes
pondering the es7

I need that left E, bottom left O, and L too
li 4
I do not like vowels
ditto that west... always my last tiles for nbt
down with Vanna
I am monkeying like mad Jilli and living in hope
ty diz
not an easy grid, this!
agree george and hello
so glad you said that, george!
hello westford, we'll hafta stop meeting like this, ha!
we are fellow addicts can't be helped
Isn't the second column o and oe10 or something like
the oe is an 8 Douglas
I saw a clue out of the corner of my eye but I was trying k words
thanks flosey
yeah, I'm a word game addcit, have been since I can remember!
I found an ok 4 on the bottom left
yw west, I remember seeing that clue but now that I have the oe, I don't remember
well all see you at the flip! have a great day /eve !!
*poofing with hugs*
bugs I tried the nick for Oklahomans but it didn't work
good night dee rest well
the e7 and o8 are almost the same
one is a brit spelling?
nbt
yep
take an eye out
wtg jilli !!
ty west... hope to... haven't slept well in several days...
*poof*
so sorry dee hope you feel better soon
night dee -- sorry to hear that -- anything wrong?
I gave in and went to morewords for the e7.
I monkeyed it
I just did for the oe then got the e
it was hard with only one eye
flosey has very clever monkeys
one eye west?
one eye? wassup?
george said take one eye out
groan
lol
lol, west - don't do everything everyone tells you!!
now I can get a patch and talk like a pirate arrr
If George told you to jump off a bridge, would you do that?!?
this grid is shaping up to be the kind I can't be bothered with, full of useless words
I would.
starting to feel that way too jilli
but only with a bungee cord
oh west, really?
I believe any grid that has 16 k words starts out badly
no flosey not really at all lol
I get nervous on a step stool
there are lots of words containing the k , I am surprised
but the k words came easily, only missing 1
good job flosey I have 8
Requesting stats for the southeast o, the word that will get me to halfway and nbt simultaneously!
well, west, this one only has 15 K words so you can relax, lol!
oo4
take the b off your galoshes
oe8/40, doug
on4/4
jilli I don't know 15 k words
no, sorry, that's the other o
thanks grem
oh, sorry, that was SW
haha, three different answers - take your pick
the oo4 was the right one
I don't think I do either, west
who knows directions..I thought you meant the righthand corner
well good for me lol
right-hand is SE, yes
what about Australia grem
was there someone who wanted to suggest a "rotate board" feature? Think about the confusion THAT would cause
good night all...happy Babbling *poof*
good night doug pleasant dreams
grem, the new grid will have that
good night Douglas
night, doug!
it was very helpful in tangle grem
but wouldn't be so helpful trying to clue
I always found it useless in sites that had it
after all, it's by studying a single orientation long enough that my brain finds the deeper patterns
I have nbt I've had it for awhile just didn't realize it
wtg west
thanks jilli
are you going to leave your brain to the Babble Institute Grem?
maybe start a theme park called Boggleland.
that would be great
i like moving the board -- it lets me see different patterns from the different angles
one of the animal mascots would be a tsetse fly
dcs: I would think perhaps that different people's brains learn different ways of playing the game, maybe
ah, just remembered another silly babblet, to5/10
and don't forget inia
if I rotate, I may as well be starting over
right, different strokes...
If I rotate I get dizzy
another thing I've noticed is that when I go from one Boggle site to another, I'm less good at playing for anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, if the size or spacing of the letters is different on the new site
do you play these games all day, grem?
that's one of the worst aspects of Tangleword, the HUGE letter tiles
I did for a couple hours today, but usually these days I just have my 20 minutes of Babble.
it's probably been a couple years at least since I did anything but this or Wordsplay, too
fireworks
yay anike!!
wtg anike
I left for a few minutes it's pouring so hard I thought I left the water running
TY. Back to the grindstone. Have a good day everyone
YAY anike!!!
we're beginning to need rain here
4 more months until the next rain here, probably
yes, jilli, gardens need rain soon
it did manage to rain the morning our daughter got married in October but cleared up by afternoon..good thing too she was married on the beach
in Del Mar
we used to get daily rain in the Summers, but the last man summers have been drier, w/out the daily thunderstorms
(I keep having to take a coughing break)
allergies jilli?
that cough still lingering, jilli
Man summers - when it rains, it rains beer.
no, west, leftovers from a cold which started on June 24. I'm thoroughly fed up with it.
lol I can just see you all lying on your backs with your mouths open
oh no jilli are you taking anything?
no wonder the beer's so cheap over there, and tastes like rainwater, ha!
yeah, it's these dreaded man summers we always get
nah -- but if this goes on much longer I'll see what the doc says.
you musta sent them over there, cos now even we've been getting the awful sweltering heat!!
make yourself a nice hot toddy
for a moment I thought you meant Dr. God
Beer lovers say Canadian beer does NOT taste like rainwater.
yeah, Jill, that's not good, get it seen to!!
was talking about American beer, Jill, there is a difference, had both!
glad you differentiated, george ;)
drank mostly Heineken when I used to drink it anyhow, but yeah, had some Canadian beer, year ago
hubby drinks Heineken
was funny though, when she said it rains beer, couldn't resist saying that!!
I'm not a beer lover.
yeah, good for him!
neither am I and I've had Guiness
did I spell that right?
doesn't look right
two Ns maybe?
Guinness
But I don't mind Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale, with curries.
went camping in june -- we had to find various things around the campground and take pictures at one point. one item was Budweiser. It was hard to find, as but for one site, all were drinking heineken, molson's or microbrews.
yeah, gremlinn, it is with 2 n's
2 n's thanks george
did you see the last clip in my blog, Seain? ha!
i did :)
oh yeah, course you did, I'm not awake!
that was funny, what a freak!
the kids went to Ireland with sil's family and took a side trip to Belgium just to get beer
made in a monastery
blimey, that's a long way to go just to get some beer, when there's all sorts right in Ireland, ha!
Lurking fireworks for MetFan & Moi -- Nite all !
ale rather
oh yeah, but sounds funny when you put it like that!
Congrats to pugmet!!!
congrats and g'night pug and met
yay pug and met !!
oh, over halfway!
you don't have to stand outside and look in you know..come on in sometime
aren't you good?!
vn jilli
who's good?
ty west
you, halfway already!!
oh now it's thundering
oh! Well, Lickety helps.
we had clouds and thunder, but no rain, earlier
but thanks, George.
does anyone have a clue for the so10?
doubt it would help me any!
female version of fraternities, change one consonant
We seldom get thunder-rumbles here.
thanks grem
thanks, got it
ah, lovely word! thanks, grem!
that doesn't work? the o's aren't in the right spots??
is it plural flosie?
it works, george.
yes, it's a pl.
well not for me, it won't!!
so you all must be a lot more clever!?
no, won't work, o's aren't in the right spots!
yes west
I'm not clever I can't get it either
it starts with a male offspring.
yeah, ta westford -- glad someone else sees it like I do!
ooh, ta -- got it now, ha! xx
oh thanks jilli that letter
yeah, couldn't see that for looking!!
even with my big bloodshot baby blue here, ha!
:-)
lol george, mine aren't bloodshot but they are drooping
well, 54 for the morrow, and i've an interview in the afternoon, so off to bed for me
that thing looks like it shoots ice shards
now I have it thank you
*holds out murine for George*
oooh, c'est le jour du bastille! must change icon
Happy Bastille Day! Had fireworks (not this kind!) starting last night
hi ruru
anywhay, happy babbling, yall! {poof}
feliciations, ruby!
g'night dc
g'night, dc!
hi ru, are you just coming in?
hi Ruby
the poof poofed! takes one to know one, don't worry, ha!!
no luring today
now that would be a nice babble word jilli
ah, got the so10 {re-poof}
hehe dc :D
what a nice gift from the chog, the 10! good way to start the grid
the poof repoofed!!
wtg ruby
a new arrival here flosey
this is an easy grid it looks like
good for you, finding it so quickly, ruby!
not too bad ru
are you going to use jilli's menu today ruby?
was pretty easy, yeah
some found it easy -- I didn't.
over halfway, finally
wtg george
I am nowhere near I'd better get down to business
ta, Jill
can't list until I am
I still think roos should be a word -- must be my Aussie relatives sending messages.
the exterminators came today and put 3 traps in the fireplace big deal
yeah, should be, baby kangaroos!!
that's all, west?
halfway
aww kanga and roo
wtg ru
well, aren't baby roos called joeys?
that's all jilli said they'll be back in a few days
oh yeah, that's probably why, ha!
yeah, joeys - was trying to remember
well, yes, west.
and they had no idea what the typing sound was
what do I know? I spent my time in Aussie trying to avoid Norman Gunston and failing, ha!
Well, he's funny, George.
time in OZ or Australia, rather--that's how unawake I am, no wonder I can't make headway with this grid!!
well yeah, but you know, you hafta pretend he's not!
It must be hard to keep a straight face
eh, not really--he was pretty irritating, ha!
who is norman gunston?
I think I've seen that one.
you'll have to wait 'til the book comes out "My life as a Literate Squirrel"
I keep seeing kitties in the grid, won't work!!
mine certainly don't
hearing them mewling, too, must need more sleep!
the rain isn't moving
George, you tell ruru about norman gunston
sooner or litter george
oh, can't here
he's just someone to avoid in OZ, weirdo, ha!
he's a TV person, ruru.
messy, Jill
he's a comical character
like Dame Edna?
maybe you could google him, ruru.
sooner or litter? god that was bad, ru!!
why should I google him.. I have you
half way and I give up these are not real words
ruru is frequently bad ;-)
120
too right, west!
bye all for a bit
bye west, I'll wait for the book.....
bye west -- I won't be staying up too late tonight as I did last night.
Jill, messy??
I am not bad..
I am just punny
what do you mean, messy?
see? ruru is punny.
punny is good
messenger!
also funny
I'm not used to funny folk, ha!
I admit, punny is good, silly is good, ruru is both
ruru brightens the chog!
I'm off to bed, good night all, 20 left can't even monkey them
yeah
O. I C, george. OK, briefly.
Jill? messenger??
well done, flosey, and goodnight!
< lil mr sunshine
:D
I do have a warped sense of humor though
anyone know what the 10 begins with?
so : not daughter + and/** + personal pronoun + **** shoelaces
yeah, might even be as warped as mine!
thanks
that's a compliment? ha!
<<<---- one sick puppy here
I'm pretty weird, a freak, really!
oh eh, that's all right then!
any hints for the 8's?
i have fe 8
so far
most of party + comics on tv
I have a 10 but not an 8!
hi everyone, thanks for the recipes Ruby, I have just sent the choc pavlova to you - tell me if you get it
afternoon all :)
hello
hello sandy! poor Cadel, it was terrible to see him sobbing at the end!
hi pres, how are you you poor thing?
we have become the anti-fan club for Contador around here -- anybody but!
hi mrp!
shooting antibiotics and snorting nasal mist... life is poor indeed!
Andy is a great rider, but doesn't have much personality
I felt sorry for him Ruby, but I haven't seen that very last bit yet - just up to where they crossed the line- Contador looking very strong and so is Andy
Lance made up a couple of minutes and looked dignified and OK. He never whines, much to his credit
Pres, can't imagine how you managed with two broken legs- if I lived near you I would have made some dinners for you
do you need to keep someone at a dristan -ce mr p
hi mrp!
or served you my new drink, vodka cassis, with homemade cassis syrup, not too sweet but very refreshing!
hi jilli!! (hugs)
ruuster! how are you my man?
sandy, have to wait two weeks more for surgery on the old leg... having the flu, they won't put me under
i be good
ruby, what have you been inventing?? and what is cassis??
Are you mobile at all Pres? or is Lickety waiting on you hand and foot
I am mobile, and the kids are helping out as much as they can until they get bored
I have black currants in my garden and doesn't much like them, but in a light syrup and with vodka, not so bad. And full of vitamin C
don't not doesn't*
LOL ruby! at least it is good for you!!
exactly!
take care Pres, sounds like life is hard at the moment
wow.. I must be tired I thought someone was licking mr. p's hand and foot
thanks sandy, but all is ok whilst the house is warm, food is on the table and family is home!!
licking works ruuster!
positive as usual Pres, good for you! and rur she needs a friendly lick at the moment
don't encourage him!! LOL!
I am tongue tied right now
hooray, I just blacked out that rotten top t
83 words and will look for your chocolate recipe now sandy. I am impressed with your bravery, mrp, you and my Lance!
86, but 3 left on that top t and not even close to nbt! also never got the fe8! duh
58 left here
I have 99 words now -- must get a few more and go to bed!
only 83 here, not so good
74 left
15 left here
how do you do it, ru??
i don't know the last grids have been hard for me.. this one seems easy
your a clever one!
I liked yesterday's a lot, but still didn't finish!
no, was mad that I didn't, after getting moost of it!!
I didn't have time for yesterday's.
most!!
I nver finish unless FM carries me through
I was really happy to finish, but stopped me doing the TOE (tax of evil)
which i should be doing now
Ruby I will also send you a recipe for a chicken and macadamia nut flan- which makes a fabulous lunch dish for guests with a nice spinach salad - but you must make the pastry yourself - no packets
Mmm, sandy -- would you popover and make some for me?
I mean pop over. A popover is something else.
I could email it to you jilli - if you want just email me and i will have your address
sandy, my email address is in my profile if you scroll down far enough -- and thanks!
Well, 53 left after once through Lickety. Busy day tomorrow (bro-and-sis-in-law visiting) so probably won't finish.
done
Thanks, sandy! It sounds wonderful!
I'll send you the choc pavlova as well - that is delicious too
remember dont buy the pastry, make it or it will not be the same
what is choc pavlova?
it is a recipe I have - it is yummy and you serve it with fresh rasberries - the combination is sensational
I hope I can make the pastry -- but pavlova is merigue, isn't it?
a cocoa opera singer?
Do you cook George?
what's all in it??
chocolate and raspberries is a really nice combination of flavours, yeah!
I can send it to you if you want it
I used to do a lot of it, yeah, it's a passion of mine, but I'm almost all raw with my diet now, still cook a little
jilli the pastry is for the flan not the pav
yeah, but I can't put my email addy on here
sandyloo- I've made variations on a pavlova including cinnamon (great with strawberries) and a chocolate one with a layer of mars bars melted down with milk, spread over the pavlova before the cream layer. It was banned by the World Health Organisation.
OK, sandy ;)
Good morning/evening all by the way.
LOL haz, it sounds a bit like the bacon thing
It was pretty good, but definitely not a WeightWatchers recipe.
george , just email me and i will have yours
had to list for the last three
anyone have the fo 6/27?
ruru finished? WTG!
haz , this one is lovely as it is not too sweet,
almost jilli
just three left
fo6/27 - follow an enemy with a small hill (or ***gone, the babbler)
two
Oh, not finished, I guess -- and I don't have the fo6
isn't carrying a small hill rather difficult
now I am done.. thank you haz
It's funny, I can take the sweetness of pavlova, but banoffee defeats me.
Congratulations, ruru!
thank you, sandy, sent
Must go! Goodnight all and *poof*
not keen on banofee either
Carrying a small hill isn't difficult when you've got muscles like ruru.
good morning, Jill, laters! xx
does one drool with pavlova?
night jilli-willi
It's pretty moreish, ruru.
one does rur - haz if you want the recipe just email me
I love home made pavlovas , not really keen on store bought ones although they are bearable
I think I've had it, or something like it, will know when I see your recipe, Sandy
I have to go and have some wine and feed stupid grotty horses
what the hay huh sandy/
bbl
hey guys
Bye, sandy.
i'd best be going to bed.. I have a big day tomorrow.
have a great day everyone.
You need your beauty sleep, ruru. Sleep well!
nite ruuster
hellloooo :)
Hello, Ata, mrp.
I have a spaniel full of burrs
Good morning everyone. Nice sized grid today.
Hello, Sally.
Where did the spaniel fall into burrs? Hard wee things to get out...
Did most of yesterday's on the train!
chasing pheasants through hedges
I wonder if the pheasants ended up with burrs on them?
Where were you going, Sally?
noooo, they were generally in the air, or going through take-off!
Went to Bath for brother-in-law's birthday lunch, and printed grid before I went.
Thought it was a big grid but really easy.
It was a nice grid, you're right.
As opposed to today's, where I have one word which was clued just as I came on (the fo6).
Plural it...
Which gave me two more :-) Will wake up soon.
15 Ks???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
where do u get the clues from!
Under Friends of Babble - Lickety's babble clues.
THANK YOU!
No problem.
where do you live
Not relevant.
strange placename
I never meant it like that
You can tell from the flags which countries we all live in.
i mean where abouts in the country
bye bye im coming off for now
you know all these searches the police are doing in Peter Tobin's old homes? What on earth happens to the people who live in the houses now/
Presumably they are given temp accommodation. I don't suppose they are thrown on the street.
I don't know, it can't be very pleasant.
not at all!
It's not as if they'll just be doing a cursory search, they'll rip the places apart.
A very uncomfortable feeling though, having your garden dug up or whatever. Come to think of it, we could do with our garden being dug over ...
and so unexpected, how on earth could you ever know such a thing before the police turned up
This sounds bad - another serial killer? Hello all
You'd be labelled hopelessly pessimistic if you started thinking 'I wonder if a serial killer ever lived here?'
just an old one, in prison now
This is Peter Tobin, lynxxx, killed a number of girls that we know about, now they're searching for girls who have been missing.
but the police had decided to check out all his old houses
Amd sadly, he seems to feel no re7/32, because he is refusing to help with enquiries.
ty for the re7!
You're welcome!
yes - TY!
Already had the 5 following the re, but hadn't made the connection.
brb, have to go and pay delivery driver
gah. snoek is a word. It is a fish
Oh, and Pavarotti extends - te8/40.
he does indeed!
needed for his girth
There was a really interesting programme about te6. I had no idea it was all so technical.
wasn't that a great programme!
It really was. It's not just a case of opening your mouth, that's for sure. And that opera singer (can't remember his name) is so enthusiastic, it's great.
Morning/evening all.
wasn't convinced about the head voice / stomach voice thing!
FM!!!
phooey, phone, brb
Hello, FM!
how is the great and glorious Spanglettina this morning?
No, I couldn't quite follow how they could switch within a note, but if they say that's how it works, well, it's even more miraculous.
I know! I'd like to see a proper explanation of that, it's fascinating
Spangletinarina is fine, in good heart and voice.
awwwww :)
Back
I've been at performances of 'Messiah' where the alto part was sung by a man. It was slightly eery.
good morning FM
HObbit was sleeping downstairs with husband last night - I banished him the other day cos he's refusing to wear his CPAP mask - and at 3:30, Hobbit wanted to go out. So instead of just taking her out, he marches her upstairs, wakes me up, and informs me that I have to take Hobbit out because his sleep is more important than mine!!
Evening lynxxx!
But he was awake anyway. Am I missing a step in logic somewhere?
stupid hubby :(
silly man - he should have been lecturing Hobbit rather than you
well that's what I told him, but ....
was SO annoyed
Have you tried sucky duck yet today Haz?
Back. Hi FM
No, not yet. What is it today?
It has me stumped so far, thats what it is.
D does not have a logical cell in his brain/body.
That bodes not well for the likes of me.
Dare I ask. What is sucky duck? (typing very carefully)
Go on give it a go and solve it them you can feel vvv smug :)
Sudoku Sally
ooohh, lol!!
which is impressive for a mathematician
Have you been using greens or not?
Sucky Duck is Haz's nickname for it.
using greens :(
Goodness, it must be bad.
mathematical logic is very different from everyday/living logic and he is a bloke so life is stacked against him.
Oh good, enable recognises the English bell-shakers.
I have to try it now too!
Don't mention bells, on Saturday the bells were ringing for an hour late morning so I had to close all the windows and it was 31degrees. <----- was not a happy bunny.
Ata will probably do it in 2 minutes and be hopelessly smug for the rest of the day.
probably
You'd have enjoyed the village during the war - no bell ringing allowed.
I doubt it!!
i need a clue
I actually slept under the duvel last night for the first time in about a week.
*duvet even.
For which word, 9tanks?
me too :)
Love the icon of Sily Ata, and whats with all the Bagpuss pics?
I went to Canterbury Museum :)
perhaps 9tanks needs a clue to remember how to play the game as we haven't seen him for a very long time.
... and they have a Bagpuss section? how great!
a Bagpuss museum!
Oh how funny!
Haz do you realise that next month it is 5 years of babbling?
I was thinking about that the other day. Where has the time gone?
How did I get through life not knowing about all these words?
Conversations about Madagascan hedgehogs were closed to me before.
a tisket a tasket......good morning
LOL me too. Morning Kallia.
hi Kallia
Hi Kallia
Hello, Kallia - I'm heading your direction tomorrow. Flying to Edinburgh tomorrow afternoon.
Hello, Kallia - I'm heading your direction tomorrow. Flying to Edinburgh tomorrow afternoon.
My wee finger had a spasm, sorry!
love Edinburgh, but I'm actually in Hampshire :)
Goodness, and there was me imagining you running through fields of heather in a kilt.
LOL
Not a million miles away from me then Kallia, Im in W Sussex.
running nowhere these days
So, you're marooned in England? I'll tell Edinburgh you said hello.
not too far FM
yep, was kidnapped by a Scots hero, who then wanted to live in ENGLAND!
It must have been love to allow him to transport you away from the hills and glens (cue piper)
Darn, must go have hair appt in 10 mins. Back in about 40 mins time. TTFN.
See you later, FM.
bye for now FM, off to get mine cut in about an hour
bye dear!
I guess so Haz
hello Ata
sucky duck done :P
I can feel the waves of smug from here.
well done...haven't been there for ages
I haven't even looked at it, FM's warning was enough.
nor me, I only did it to annoy FM lol :P
a very quiet and intense place
start 3.13 finish 3.15 lol
I know, they talk in strange languages about methods of solving and certainly no chit-chat.
Back again, Ata I just saved your spinach balls recipe
hi Sandy
peri's really :)
hi lynxx, bit sad about poor Cadel ....
Cadel?
he didn't have a good tour de france day
lol lynxx, out leader of the Tour, he had a bad day and lost the jersy and cried his heart out
hello, I'm back. A workman is putting copper wire along the roof top to protect the tiles from lichen??
hello ruby and sandy
does it electrocute the lichen Ruby?
rots
sorry
So was Cadel when he lost the jersey.
hi Kallia and try again I have that one
lol thought you all might :)
It is such a hard race
evidently, and he is going in and out and driving the dogs crazy!
it is still very hot in France; yesterday was definitely a killer day for those poor guys. Watching Cadel cry made me cry, too, it was a truly touching moment
hi haz and hello kallia
I like lichen :-(
you'd think the guy wouldn't want to work on this national holiday!
Ruby, is he in danger of being bitten? and I cried too it was sad
hi Sally. Me, too, but everybody says it ruins the tiles
I'm going to take a break and will return with fresh eyes. Back later!
I had a man setting up my new bed once and Sydney ran in and bit him and ran out (not very hard)
bye Haz
bye Haz
ttfn Haz
do you think that lichen doesn't hurt the tiles? It isn't too late for me to stop him!
bye haz
what do you think, wise Sally?
No lichen here on the roof Ruby
I think it doesn't hurt the tiles, but can look bad when it goes black. We have reclaimed tiles on our roof and are delighted to see lichen. It's usually a sign of clean air. It's a matter of personal choice though, so if you want coppper on the roof then go ahead :-) At least you won't get slugs up there.
definitely a sign of clean air
Ruby, I am envious of how lovely a place you must live. It looked fantastic -do you live in the valley?
A local churchyard I have some involvement in recorded 78 varieties of lichen.
how wonderful!
<http://www.whitton-stmarys.org.uk/chu rchyard.html>
oooo wonderful!
If you follow the link to the Heaven and Earth show you will see husband - oh, and there's some other famous bloke in the picture too :-)
Husband is the one with the Rupert scarf :-))
ooo! there was an interesting bit on Countryfile a few weekends ago about churchyard biodiversity
We have learnt a lot about managing our own land from how that churchyard is managed. We got so excited to see wild orchids appear. Three last year, and four this year :-)
wonderful! what sort??
Common spotted.
those are lovely :)
We think
little spotty leaves :)
We had barren land here when we bought it. It has been quite a revelation to see how it has changed over the years. We had the local wildlife people in, who said we were doing everything right, just to give it time. This year the wild flowers have just exploded, in quantity and diversity. I can just sit out there and grin:-)
had it been farming land Sally?
use your wildlife trusts! they are good people!
No, had been brickyard spoil - so coal and clay.
Yes, they were very helpful Ata.
good :)
what a gorgeous little site Sally and a lovely churchyard
You like the web site? Good <smug>
and because of that I found an appropriate word in the grid
You did? Care to share a hint?
what the preacher does in the church - he gives a se****
Oh, ty
ty!
Found a nice fe 7/8 and finished the Fs.
Ruby, are you still there?
I guess not
Hi again, how is the grid today?
a good grid mitch
Hello, FM, I'm just back as well. Do you feel the smugness from Ata?
Not bad, except for the K words which are hard to find (for me)
goodie thanks sandy. Hi Haz ... does that mean she has finished it?
Hey Sally.
yep :P
She finished it very quickly.
phooey
Beginner's luck.
I did all but 35 without the lists and that is the best i have ever done
A fluke.
double phooey.
took a while though!
How's the hair? Is this in honour of the cleaner?
it must be
lol no Sally, was a treat just for me.
Two k might be how the Krankies would sing.
badly?
That's a given. This is the style. The Krankies sing Bing Crosby.
lol Ata
rofl, tried it and it worked.
ty haz
kr5 and kr6.
As I was saying yesterday Sally at the prices I am paying I can afford to go twice as much and they do a great head massage too ... bliss.
I don't think it would work as a clue for the Americans.
Cheaper in Sussex than London, eh? My son who lives in London can't believe the eating-out prices here in Shropshire.
good clue Haz!
I bet he can't Sally.
Well I had better dive in otherwise I will never finish.
Stand back. FM is going in!
enough for me tonight, bye all
Good night, lynxxx.
night lynxxx
Hi Everyone
kkkkood morning
Hello, Norma and sprite.
hi sprite
hi all. At the end of my write-up there are links to some Bastilly Day related games.
nice icon, sandy :) I made le Tour de France an icon theme for the last day of the race.
Bye lynxxx and hello spritey sprite and norma.
I like the company :)
Hi Haz,FM,Sprite n sandy
i will look forward to that sprite
hi norma
must unusual not to have an 'a' in the grid.
I will trade my K for your A, FM :)
I hadn't even noticed, you're very observant, FM.
to many i's for me
I will karry your ks sprite ;)
But two of the Is have no words from them, Norma
you rocks, FM
Still there to confound me lol
you rock*, FM (done without coffee today, bad idea)
*grin*
K killed :D
oh! finally worked out the Krankie klues lol
yay, that was fast, now you can enjoy the rest.
hey Ata :) How are you doing?
going to physio soon ... knee is hurting :( bad knee!
am getting better at K words. I see a time coming when I no longer have the right to complain about K grids...
HAVe you been overdoing it Ata?
wild guess: bad knee is responding to bad Ata?
Must go - see you later!
half and half, idiot husband's idiocy made me get up while still 99% asleep and bent it far more than it's comfortable with. Much pain!
and running in the rain yesterday prolly wouldn't have helped too.
if he is becoming a danger to you, hun, I will grab my canoe and come to the rescue
bye Haz, have a good day
that was really more limping than running lol
Byeee Haz.
awwwwwww :)
well I hope all is well with your knee and all you need to do is be nice and gentle with it for a while... :)
I'm trying!!!
Must go and do some chores. Back in a while.
I know! And believe me, I know how hard that is.
your pic of Sily is priceless
and really I should go and lie down for a bit before physio!
LOL ty! It's her new fvourite place
have a good rest and good luck at physio
ty! back later! *hugs*
Hello
hi lady
Hi Spritee
how you
am ok, you?
I ate too much
of what?
steak
tasty. Was it worth it?
mash etc. Tonight I am asking if himself can make me hot choc
yep
good :)
I should be doing some chores now but am too darn tired. This heat is getting to me.
i just bemoaned that it is cold
lol if only we could exchange heat and cold! Or dry and rain.
wow, one of the easiest grids ever. Done, fireflies. Have a lovely day/evening all of you
dont get too hot
rose
hello, back from lunch
it is very hot and humid here
I am so hot and DH is on the warpath for a change!
I really thin he is losing it!
Ruby you ok?
yes, I'm fine. Just hot. He is a PITB
Right if you need out do so
I'm fine and the Tour will be on in a few minutes
I too hate the heat - if you are cold you can put more clothes on , but if you are hot going out naked is not an option as it is still hot
and what would the neighbors say?
I just cranked the heater
well Ruby, that depends on many things
heater? summer? OMG!!!!@
eg: 1 if you are the naked man that is running with the Tour
2 whether the neighbours are broadminded
they are too funny! But what is worse is the fat guys without shirts. Are they insane?
I was looking at them - I thought maybe it was a European things
thing
they are tourists, I guess, wouldn't be doing it if they wre local
no I am saying I just can't get warm
European tourists, certainlynot (prudish) Americans, like me
i have the fire on and a heater
you must come here, you're Austrtalian "summer" would be most welcome!
your*
too much grappa!
I just got hot choc
unimaginable!
I just can't get warm
that's terrible, herin, I am used to it and just pile on layers and layers, varying the fabrics, during the winter here
been cold all day
the key, I think, is : a layer of silk, a layer of cotton, a layer of wool, etc. You may look like the Michelin man, but you'll stay warm
Ruby, Cadel has a fractured elbow and couldn't manage the big hill as it hurt too much , he is still going to continue the tour
Silk is not breathable
we don't have central heat and the house gets very cold in winter
Usually I have cotton then warmth
yes it is!
I didn't know he was inured
Cotton works with me
poor Cadel!!!!
Wow Ruby, it must get really cold there
OK, herin, cotton, THEN silk, then wool
he crashed at the beginning of the race
Sandy have you seen the new TAC add?
they don't show the beginning here
or was it the day before
no , it was the day before the rest day
Tac?
Transport Accident Commision Ads
No I haven't herin,
ok. Just starting to bug me
I will look out for them and guess what I am using that detol rinse
THat Detol rinse is the best in winter. Means you can dry your clothes inside and not them get that wet smell
ok
I don't know if you find that drying clothes inside winter leaves them with a wet smell
bad ruby uses the dryer!
We don't ahve one
isn't esne a kind of medieval serf?
I try not to use the dryer but......
I am too tired to hang the clothes outside
I have no drying space that actually works unless it is hot
Esne is a word. Means lower class
a member of the lowest class; laborer.
that's what I thought,l but enable doesn't know it!
no it doesn't
makes me feel a little less crazy (only a little)
Only if you start answering your own questions
when you call into the abysss and it answers back!
Then you need to clean out the dust bunnies
the dust bunnies here have their own ecosystems
when my son was here in May, he and his wife cleaned oput all the dust bunnies in my studio; it was wonderful, but now I can't find anything
:D
hahaha, I gave Nicky's dog a really nice bone today and Nicky has just found it buried in her bed under the blankets! LOL
ewwwwww
eeew! dogs are too funny. But was the boned cooked or raw? I am always afraind of bones with these too-delicate (but big) dogs
OK, going to watch the race. See you later!
it was cooked but too solid for her to break as she is only little - it had lots of meat on it which she has chewed off - I am very fussy about bones too Ruby
never give dogs cooked bones
it was cooked herin but she could not break it at all or I wouldn't have let her have it
once I gave one of our previous dogs a cooked bone and it pierced his intestine (but he was OK and lived another 7 years)
rough one today - 97/60 and going to Lickety
they rarely get any bones so I guess she thought it was quite a treasure
these chows could bite through a concrete road divider!
i have 7 left
hi fish fish, after a couple of hours (???) I have 99/58, hopeless ruby
Herin, I do give them raw chicken carcasses at times
amazing, sandy!
and those tiny bones aren't dangerous?
the dog breeders recommend them
Raw chicken bones are bad and the dog breeder is a twit
they have a lot of calcium in them and they are meant to be safe as long as they are raw
Chicken bones splinter
never cooked
you should see me boning chicken for these 75 lb dogs!
herin, I have heard that from a lot of dog people
they only splinter if they are cooked
BTW, my one tomato is almost red!
howww can you stand to do that?? taking the bones out of something...blech!!
have to go and watch masterchef
bbl
NB: you are just the person I need! I need the phone number of a florist in London to send flowers to a hospital. I've used FTD, but then they send e-mails every day until you threaten them. I just need a phone number!!
FTD? What's that? And I can try to help; any part of London in particular?
wait, do hospitals even allow flowers?
I think the hospital is in Marylebone (sp?
yes
FTD is international and on line but I couldn't believe what happened after I used them
my niece is having surgery on Friday
good morning Babblers
Marylebone is right ;) though most Londoners can't spell it...lemme take a look. I don't know that area too well, but I can check it out
maybe I could send you in a cake!
Morning, Nono :)
hi no no!
Ruby can you not call a local florist that is FTD and arrange the flowers for anywhere
no, I just did that for Wales, and have gotten an e-mail from FTD every day since!
Hi, just briefly popping back in. Ruby, you need to check with the hospital that they allow flowers.
I finally had to say take me off your list or I'll call my lawyer and the e-mail stoppped
Can't you tell FTD to stop.
I did and they did, after 3 weeks
i never give them my email addie but use FTD a lot
@ rubyfoo inter flora will send flowers to and from anywhere.
You could try this website, Ruby; I've used them before: http://tinyurl.com/3ydd4am and they deliver free and very quickly to anywhere in the London area.
that was for the woman in Wales who received and sent on the pond nets! hahah
How can you not allow flowers :(
thank you NB, I'll try that on Friday but will call the hospital first
I wouldn't personally use Interflora because so often the flowers are rubbish. Flying Flowers are quite good: http://www.flyingflowers.co.uk/
how can you have surgery and not receive flowers?
No problem ;) I think the number is on the website there, if you wanna go through that route. You shouldn't get any spam mail..
I know local hospitals here do not allow flowers in intensive care units but they are allowed in regular rooms
thank you both.
When Tony was having heart surgery, no flowers were allowed.
Contamination risk with flowers! English hospitals can be quite vigilant about it, too, 'cause of the whole superbug thing.
when I had my first surgery, almost 20 years ago, I received more tahn 30 thingies of flowers and my nurses wanted to know if I was famous. I said "in a limited way! LOL"
but then the MDs shouldn't wear ties!
Yes, but the rules have changed now ruby.
ahah
I don';t care what happens as long as it isn't a doc that dealt with my nan
I will call the hospital then, before I send the flowers. Otherwise, I will send them to her house, the day she comes home
That reminds me Dad has to go to hospital soon
I've had enough of hospitals for a lifetime!
Touch wood for me
yes, herin!
oh, and I hope your niece sails through the surgery, btw :)
*poof* now and thank you for the websites
thank you NB!
Loves Nancy
ty herin, loves you too

Don't have that one yet, Smaan.
It's a horror!
so10 is like the groups of college girls...substitute n for the second consonant...
hi all
Hi, Boo
Yah! Thanks
ty jellen
Thanks! Thought my head was going to explode...
or where submarine radar men go to study lol
You're welcome...must confess I used a2z words to help find it...
Hey, crossy...I need a hug...
((((jellen))))
Ooh! What@s atoz?
big ole crossy beaR hug
Thanks! Tim's in the hospital again, just to get a port and another MRI...
oh one of those dam ports on the chest up by the shoulder?
http://www.a2zwordfinder.com/index.htm l
the iv shunt?
Yes...he had one, and they took it out 6 months ago...
those are a pita
Better than them trying to get an IV in....that's the REAL pita...
though great pat parties, just slide 200 cc,s of chardonney in there and you are the life of the party:))
Morning friends
Hi Mr Bob
morning
morning
howdy bob..i know it jellen, they were sticking me 2 times a day for treatment bags and twice a day for blood samples
Anyway, the liver is a lot more damaged than I had thought...I asked about MD Anderson and the doc said we really didn't have time to wait on the tests they would do...
Hi, Mr Bob and GE
so they are gearing up to start treatment?
Yes...I would guess tomorrow...
chemo or radiation..or both?
Chemo
clue for en 5 please
now if you have never gone through this before jellen, each person is individual with chemo, some react differently than others...
jellen i didn't know that Tim had been sick that long
some sail through it,or as in my case i lost every hair on my boyd..90 pounds and pukede 20 times a day,but your guy may have a easier time
Yes, GE...It's been an on and off battle...discovered the liver problem about two months ago...
it is best to go for the chemo round as early in the day as they will let you
and after 1 week into it,set him up on the couch if he is having a hard go of it
We've already requested a hospital bed...
keep lots of jello, vaniillia ice cream, freezies, gatorade and ensure protien shakes around
oh ok
They were going to check into it for insurance...
@boobear: en5 is the first part of a synonym for huge
but if he CAN come home on weekends,do it,i so looked forward to weekends at home
Oops! Sorry to dominate chat...really just needed a hug...
oh i knew that but i thought you said he had a port 6 months ago...
((((jellen)))) give you annother
Yes, GE...he was first diagnosed with melanoma 2 years ago...

can't get anyone on the phone... have to go down to the office to explain this ridiculous snafu. i applied 7/1, last paycheck dated 6/30, so the system is saying i worked and asking when i went back to work. not letting me input the truth, either on phone system or computer. utterly insane
Dealing wit the Gov is always frustrating. I think they do it on purpose.
best gubmint money can buy, NOT! lol
i wnet through the same thing and i do not know about there dorens, but do not let then delay you any longer than 4 weeks after your last day worked
absolutely. i am wondering how all the people who do get it manage
they almost messed me up,cause if you take longer than 4 weeks here, you cannot qualify
clue for fe 7 please
oh, i'm not taking longer than four weeks, crossy, i will be standing in line down at the disgusting office in an hour or so
"yup,get in their faces dorens
and here, filing your reports are all done on computer
it is hard at the start but you get used to it
it's done that way here too.... but it isn't letting me... keeps saying I did work the week ending 7/3, whereas my last day of work was 6/23.
do you have your r.o.e?
could be your employer messed something up on their end . . .
so i tried saying, yes i did work, putting down my last day as 6/30 - then they ask "when did I return to work" and i didn't.. haven't... (no r.o.e in USA)
the record of employment, your employer must supply it no later than 7 days after your last day worked
it is a recod of your work history
no roes???
Hi, all. Oooh, this looks very grown-up and serious..
no, just stupid unemployment. last day of work 6/23, last pay check 6/30, filed 7/1 and their computer keeps saying i DID work last week
sorry nb,will be done soon
perhaps you can find 'em in the grid Crossy ;)
oh, we do have that, i suppose, but i'm sure my employer gave them the truth. problem is that even tho i did get paid, i didn't work that week. and even when i try to pretend i did to satisfy them, then they ask me when i "returned to work" which i didn't. catch 22
phantom keister
i'm done ranting... hi nb... once i get half way i'm out of here and down the the grubby office
if you got paid, you worked in the eyes of unemployment..if it was paid to you on a company cheque
but best to march down there and tear at them
heading out the door but wanted to say GOOD LUCK to dorens -- sorry it's such a crap process! *poof*
Back from getting more caffeine. Rainy days do not contribute to office productivity.
that might be it, since they paid you a week after your worked, or whatever
Hey, NB - how's the ankle, you table dancing tart?
might be..if it was on company cheque..it is getting paid even if you were at the spa all week
Good morning!
howdy car
Hiya,Car-e.
morningn car
dont' have the fe7 boo.
what did nancy boy do to ankle?
Hmmmm Judi ;) it's currently outfitting itself in shades of mottled purple and blue, but at work I have to do without crutches, so it's starting to hurt now! I'm setting the table for my pity party...
Fe7: decorate.
for pity parties always have absinthe:)
fe7 starts with the beginning of a party and ends with an animated show
With great clumsiness comes great responsibility...
Poor baby. I'll bring some cheese to go along with your whine.
thanks judi and river
*sigh* back from physio
LOL Crossy, you trying to make me sprain the other ankle, too? ;)
good clue, ty riverdance!
Hi, Ata.
how's the knee doing ata?
Always there for a damsel in distress, eh Judi ;)
yw gwen
got my normal telling-off for doing too much! It's doing - ok - everyone keeps saying it's doing really well, and then they say it'll be at least a month or two before I can totally get rid of the brace. *gloom*
Ummm...."a tisket a tasket, a green and yellow basket"....isn't tisket a word?
nope, not a real word, a "nonsense" word
like tralala
Well that explains why I thought it was a real word then!
I maintain 'fest' is a word, but enable will not take me up on that.
poor ata:((
well.. maybe if you weren't "doing too much" it would be less time before losing the brace? tradeoff
and i want points for mooser and stormer . . .
I know ... I know ... but then they tell me to go and exercise it as much as possible as well! *doh*
their kind of exercise, not yours!!
mooser? what is that moose paste in a squeeze tube?? lol
I always try that word too NB!
yes .... that's what I haven't got quite right yet!!!
mooser, one who hunts, traps, shoots, eats, stuffs moose
ack, i said a word! (oops)
ass that is spel mooseur gwen
OHHHHHHH
oops, only 10 minutes of break left so I'm gonna stick my ankle up on the table and try for some kind of ten minute power nap. Later, all..
much as i hate to have to leave... i need to go see if i can do battle with a live person at unemployment. see you later
hangs a bunch of flowers to thank river.
good luck!!
good luck dorens
wordsplay.net will take "fest" but not this game

Yeah Judi!
congrats Judi
wtg judi and the twerps !!! ~~~ !!!
i like eeyore too. he's feakin' smart
Here's an existential question for the masses: Now, I have never done this and never would, but: Do you think it's okay for someone to sell or give away a used mattress? (Just making conversation). My personal opinion is: Ewwww.
depends HOW used!!
i have given away a used mattress. and you're right, it was kind of eww. that's what mattress pads are for
Judi...not my favorite. However, we have done so with family members....just not strangers.
*runs into chog and huggles Ata*
personally,i would pass on a used mattress unless in dire straits
EEEEEEEEEVA!!
family to family is not so bad
yup, mine went to a poor family
used once isn't so bad. used for 5 years is dubious
then it is fine gwen\
so, i checked the tag on that dress, ata, and it WAS supposed to be line-dried. oopsie. but i drenched it yesterday evening and hung it to dry, and i think it has been salvaged -- i tried it on last night (while still slightly damp) and it seemed to be appropriate-length again. :)
and what lesson do we learn from this, eva? :P
do what i want -- in the end it will all work out ok. ;)
lmao
that works too :P
Rock on, Eva!
i did the same thing only it was underwear LOL
we happened to be in a target last night (whilst me dress was dripping dry at home) and they had plenty of them, so if need be, i would have taken it back to exchange it...
short dresses are not a bad thing anyways:)
this is very true
they are in the office, crossy. ;)
as in, one of the gals here got a writte reprimand because of her attire. :X
lol, they do not have to look lol
unfortunately, theres something about the federal government that they want people to look respectable, even if they arent...
reprimand? for clothes? who's the picky picky nitwit?
suppose it depends *how* short
Ahh...look respectable but dont' need to act respectable! LOL! (present company excluded of course!)
we have a "business casual" dress code here. and well, lets just say this gal often looks like her business is more of the nighttime variety...
if the govt is going to mess my life up,the least they can do is give me some nice legs to look at lol
Eva...have you gotten any responses yet?
LOL!
Any RH words?
and my dress started out as short as i would wear it to the office. i totally would still have worn it outside of work. but now, at least, it seems to be back to office-appropriate length. :)
car -- none in the mail yet, though my mom said 2 people have already asked her where we are registered! (we only just did our first registry last night. #2 and maybe 3 coming tonight!)
no RH words
Wahoo! I am going to a wedding this weekend...I will take notes for you!
How can there be 15 K words in this mess?
heh, you do that. ;)
I can vouch for 13 of them car ;)
Anything in particular you would like me to report back on?
car, think very weird words
I uised to be an event planner and when I go to weddings and parties now, I do find myself making mental notes about everything!
yep there are 15 k's.
actually, my mother found it interesting how many people RSVP that they are coming to a wedding, only to not show for whatever reason. never thought about it before, but thats a LOT of money down the drain!
eva let me know when the big day is about a week away and ill send you vid clips on wedding disasters lol...the build up for this thing is so big that groom will be passing out and kids puking all over the place..but i seriously hope yours goes smooth
we are starting to look at favors + making our own programs, but we want to be somewhat original. got our thinking caps on for those.
Yeah...it is amazing these days how casual people are about RSVP-ing and actually showing up.
Do you have a theme or motif for your wedding?
heh, thanks crossy. i already know the day wont be 100% smooth or perfect. i have fully prepared myself for temper tantrums. (and the kids acting up too!) so long as the sky doesnt cave in on us, i think i will survive.
crossy may crash the party:)
car -- we are going for "rustic elegant" -- a little outdoorsy, but not overly so.
Eva, for my daughter's wedding, one guy [not my side] never showed up. His excuse: I woke up late and didn't have a ride.
for my favours, I made little tiny cupcake versions of the main cake
well, it wont be a surprise now, will it crossy?
it will be if i show up neeked;)
thats cute, ata! we are going to some tastings this weekend, so hopefully we will have the cake squared away soon.
sorry crossy, you must be dressed formally....hehe
the best excuse ever for all occasions: i flaked! LOL
kk,ill wear a bow tie
Favors are my favorite part!!!!! 2 of my favorite examples: When I turned 30 I threw myself a "sleep over" with my girlfriends...we all had to wear pajamas and such...the favors were shiny dress up purses I got at the toy store filled with nail polish, files, big costume jewelry rings, and fun girly things! They were a big hit!
one for above and one below
works for me, then! hehe
Nice ATA!
I was going to say that Crossy...as long as you have a bowtie on you would be properly dressed!
i was thinking about making a donation to charity in lieu of favors. while its fun to hand them out, no one ever really cares that much about them, and i feel like it is often money wasted. so i would prefer to put it to good use. otherwise, i am aiming for very inexpensive favors.
yup, never know when a pair of bow ties will come in handy
lol crossy
just make up little cards then saying what you've done, then people have a little something to open and it's not expensive
ooo you could adopt a lcal zoo / rescue centre animal on behalf of the wedding party!
That is a great idea Eva! Very smart economically too! And yes, Ata, the cards are a great idea! Another inexpensive idea for "outdoorsy elegant" is the cards that you can then plant and trees grow.
or packet of seed wrapped nicely
EvaN, I like the idea of "charity" favors...
hello all1
about to start my studying for the day, couldn 't
Stid!
hi ya stid :)
couldn't resist poking my nose in to see you all.
hey car!
Figures! I have to go pick up Dylan at camp in 5 minutes!
procrastinator lol!
camp? day camp?
hey muse!
Eva, do you as a couple share any hobbies/sports/charities?
Just morning camp.
i do like the idea of plantable favors. if we did a charity, it would probably be the American Heart Association -- as my dad has suffered 2 heart attacks.
anyone have an re7? need both, plz and ty
hey gwen!
we do both like music, though not always the SAME music...heh he loves soccer + sci fi. i like dancing.
That is nice Eva!
Gwen, think to rue, and where you might go on vacation, plural
morning camp is a good idea, I think. day camps always seemed so loooong to me.
UNO

our brain's way of avoiding the unpleasant I think at times, saw the animal first myself.
can I help anyone before I go?
ah yes, the animal that roams freely in parts of this province
so flosey.. you decided to skip bastille day and go straight to celtic crosses?
and hello all!
hi M
hey all
help with oe8 pls, cannot find it even with morewords
oh no m9, I just finished the grid and am prepared for tomorrow's puzzle
so I missed your bastille pic. bummer
oe - same as es7 peri if you have it
sorry m0
**m9
yes I did, ty flosey
I just loaded mine
my icon for bastille day was the horse guard on parade
great icon m9
yw peri
my icon for tomorrow has a very long story but I found it particularly interesting because hubby visited there when touring Ireland with students
peri, i'm very close to finishing The Help and enjoying it very much, however....
i find that when i think to myself, the voice in my head sounds like a southern black woman! it's making me a little carzy. Aibileen and Minny - GET OUT OF MY HEAD!
just googled The Help - sounds interesting, must put it on my list of "to read"
one of my fave impressionists in grid today
it is very good flosey but i'm getting near the end. not really expecting a happy ending...
100 left to fo
go
not reading much right now, cataract surgery in Fall, hopefully this will be better after that
I'll stick around for a bit if I can help with clues
my vision has been deterierating and i struggle with the erading sometimes. i'd be so sad if i couldn't read!
obviously i struggle with typing too!
I afind it very frustrating just now, find myself reading same line or skipping, so gave up until surgery
no clues needed here - i'm drifting between work and babble - kind of a slow day
I don't know what I need until I list.LOL
ok, am off for breakfast, will pop in and out
oh..wait. I might need help for nbt..
ok, waiting
do any words start oo?
i just "read" words that aren't even there, then it doesn't make sense. i go back and find i totally re-created words
one, oo4/4
it's a plural
huh.
thanks flosey, enjoy your breakfast :)
a pluralized 3 letter word
got it! thanks!
Stumped on the fe7 and 8! Third letter would be useful
don't know what it is...but I got it!LOL
yw, now off for a bite
ends with animation smaa
there are a lot of words today you just have to monkey
and starts like a party.
I gave up with last 6 or so, used morewords
third letter is the pl letter
m9 - so, so obvious!
do you have the L?
smaandmea, is that you on a golf course?
li4 former monetary unit of Italy
thanks flosey. I danced all around that one!
yw
ok.. for bt... I am stumped on left E
which one
what are the stats please?
oh, sorry, missed LEFT
that's probably the female hormone es7/28
wow. thanks!
yw
NBT!!
and the oe same word
oe8/40
yay M!
wtg m9
thanks flosey!
getting closer to halfway..
i'm more than halfway but still not nbt
oh wait. I'm way past halfway!!LOL was looking at it wrong way..
I can list!
that makes more sense
which tiles blank GE?
ahh just got nbt. the other Es and one of the Os
true GE, I pull up the list and refer to it when stumped - otherwise, takes too long and I do like to complete the grids
Grem amazes me, his mind must be like an encyclopedia
grem is unreal!
how long did it take today?
Grem? just a sec, I'll look back
took him 13 minutes !!
Does anyone know which dictionary they use for this...it clearly isn't SOWPODS because there are loads of words it doesn't accept which are there.
yikes!
an older version of enable
Dictionary, not sure? There's something called 'enable'? dunno, seen that mentioned??
i can't even wrap my brain around 13 minutes. that's crazy
Enable is a dictionary then, eh?
and I have to wonder why they don't update their dictionary
hi all clues for the fo 6 and 7
hi George
that may be one of the things Dr G is changing with the new version
hello flosey, how's you?
nm got them
fo6 - enemy + capitol city of Ontario
first 3 letters, of that city
criminey!
it's harder than that flo ... DR G has to write software that's compatible with a particular version
our caf switched its sushi to "sustainable seafood" and the prices have skyrocketed!
ah, wasn't aware of the difficulties involved - we'll just have to muddle through - and monkey
that's right .. can't put the monkeys out of business
lol, and the bananas I eat to keep them fed are good for me!
Celtic crosses, eh flosey? I have one tattoo'ed on my right shoulder, going down my upper arm!
cool George... you can change your icon to another body part!LOL
I did come across a few tatoos of them George
take a pic of it George, for tomorrow's icon
ha! very funny, m9!! na, need my big bloodshot baby blue, to see the grid with! took this with my mobile camera phone as soon as I woke up one morning, for a laugh--explains the bloodshot eye, doesn't it?!
like, I was barely awake when I snapped it!!
I love it. looks like a roman statue
I look like a Roman statue? flippin' heck!!
I was glaring, cos for just having woken up, there was too much light coming in the window, ha!
Hmm, ten words left to find...
that's not the right word, squinting, scowling? it was just too bright and too early, lol
wincing? scowling? cursing? hehe
yeah, perhaps that's it--especially the latter, ha!
shaking fist in rage...hehe
eh, not quite, hard to hold the phone and take a pic that way!! I reserve that for when it's really needed, like trying to find any more words in this *@!&#?! grid!!
LOL. anyone else think it's neoclassical?
what, my bloodshot eye?!? ha!!
oh, i grumble, curse, and shake my fist at most things... its a talent, i suppose.
tris
yeah, could be, relieves a lot of stress as well!
try as I might, I cannot find these last 7 words
what are they CB
7? i still have 87! course, work keeps interrupting my babbling time...
your doing better than me, Cheshire Badger, I can't find exactly 10 x that amount yet!!
I have 56 to go
i'm with you eva. stupid work
yeah, my life keeps doing that, damn it!!
I
work is so overrated - I have 1 lousy word left - been hunting for 15 minutes
Top left t, 2 on K, lower r, t, right r and s
at least today i get to play with an iphone. its kinda like getting paid to play today...heh
I've been at it just about one hour..and have 101 found
work does get in the way, specially as I've been away with it so much lately, had no time for this--want to keep this roof over my head though, so what do ya do?? no professional babbling jobs that I know of, ha!
that would be about par for me m9
I have top left E greyed out.
do you have a woman's rack?
i started like 4 hours ago... lol
too bad Dr G can't pay us to play
i was going to see if dr_god is hiring...
(that was the last one I got on that tile)
there is a top left E? I only see a bottom one!?
I meant T
**FIREWORKS**
WTG River
woohoo river!!
WHoo HOO River!!!!!!
i do software + application testing -- maybe he could use me to help with the new babble changes!
yaa for riverdance;))
what was your bogey??
yay river!
whose bogey?
river's!
and wouldnt it figure that last word was an easy one being a baby carrier
that's part of an online name I used to use, Bogey!
but it twisted around on itself!
assuming you mean the st
baby carrier?
<< scratches head
<< get splinters
i have trouble with those sometimes - yes m9
more of a baby bringer.
oh yeah! ta!!
nah...not splinters... marble under your fingernails!
I was visualizing
that is twisty!!
why would I have marble under my fingernails??
ches B. you get the T?
go figure - I monkey out the 10 in no time and it take me 20 minutes to get a 5 - lol
can't see what's under them most of the time, black nail varnish, works wonders! ha!!
cause you're a statue! doh!
I move around a lot for a statue, I'll tell ya!
time to go make my lunch - bye all - happy babbling
lol eva..i am also a beta tester
you see if those fighting fish are male or female??
if they're fighting, they're either both male or both female, lol
oh, actual work has arrived at my deak. bbl
unless they're a bit bent, like me!
BINGO! left column greyed out!
I wish, m9, there's one elusive top left T word I'm not seeing for looking!!
small world, crossy. :)
3 left
you're pretty smart, for a badger from Cheshire!
mm your raw food creations are interesting george, till recently i was of the"cut off the horns and tail, sear if for 30 seconds, and slide it-on-the-plate " brigade
or any badger from anywhere, ha!
Cheshire Badger like Cheshire Cat...I'm actually in Derbyshire
ok. top t's
is it a woman's front?
is it a repeating word?
and then pl of repeating word?
oh god, no Crossy, I don't eat or drink anything from animals, haven't in nearly three decades now!! don't wear 'em either, no need!
but if you have colon,or other intestinal issues, that stuff is hard to digest..almost need 6 stomachs lol
the top t that I was left with was a 4 letter word meaning to quiver
vegetarian or vegan?
throw out some Fs m9
no it's not actually, the opposite's true!
especially not if it's raw, it's what's best for our bodies, that
wierdest f's I have so far have to do with babes in wombs
my wife has a torteous colon has has to watch hard to digest stuff
I think
well I've always just said 'vegetarian' if it needs a label, cos that and vegan mean all the same to me, you know, you can't be 'vegetarian' if you still have some things from animals, cos it means 'vegetation'?
nope.. has to do with stinking. go figure
k ty looking
enemy + "oh..I ***e a nail!"
and pl
have those
well different strokes fro different folks i always say
Even Indian English differs between Vegetarian (ovo-lacto) and Pure Vegetarian (vegan), though i do think you have a point, George.
yeah, eating the wrong stuff can cause that, over the years, it's too hard on our bodies, we have the long, pocketed intestines that any herbivore does, not the shorter, smooth ones that carnivores and omnivores have, designed to let meat pass through as rapidly as it should! I used to not feel so good before I got all that outta my diet--and I was young at the time, as well! 20's!!
lol, linguistic pedantry..how marvellous...unfortunately we can't make words mean that was originally intended, we have to use them on the common understanding. Otherwise I'd have to start punching anyone who called me gorgeous.
LOL Cheshire, quite!
yeah Seain and hello, m8, by the way, ha!! it's all the same to me, cos how can you be 'vegetarian' if you drink the mammary secretions of other mammals and eat stuff made from that, or as some who call themselves that do, eat fish?? those don't grow on plants, folks!!
help for top left I please
ir4 -- flower
ok... do you have fe8 of red whit and blue crepe paper on your railing for the 4th?
point taken george, though i need must agree with Cheshire
and hello, peeps :)
those were the ones ty
howdy dc
have the flower need the other one
ha ha, yeah! I must agree with Cheshire also, specially about the last part of that, same applies here, lol!!
wow...i pulled out yer soapbox did i??LOL
ty f,r fe8
ty for the fe8
interesting...crossy munches on some sacred cow jerkey....
If I say I'm vegetarian everyone knows not to give me dead animals but that cheese will be welcome. If I wanted to be deprived of cheese then saying I was vegan would convey that to my potential host. If I said vegetarian pedantically and meant vegan then I might get a plate of unwelcome cheese. (Please note that cheese is the required for the happiness of the Cheshire Badger)
I almost wanna laugh if anyone calls me that, but that would be a bit rude I suppose, ha! they're only trying to make me feel better, of course!!
george do you eat honey?
lol crossy
not eating cheese made from the mammary secretions of mother cows, isn't being 'deprived' at all, that's not good for us, don't miss it a bit either! I still eat cheese, it's just made with plant milks! soy, rice, mainly
i assume vegetarians ones who will still partake of cheese, ypgurt and the like, wheras i think of vegans as one who graze
<<<has not found plant cheese she likes
My use of deprived was purely directed at myself....it is my favourite food! :)
and yeah, I'm well aware of all the terms and what they're taken to mean, but I still don't consider one who consumes those things 'vegetarian'--that's still an omivorous diet!
many a meal of mine lacks dairy products, though i do eat them.
oh I see, Seain, well I don't cos of what it contributes to causing, and all that
do you vegans then take calcium suppliments?
well, the health aspect as well of course
course not, get plenty of calcium in my diet, the right forms of it for us, as well
vegetables have quite a bit of cmalciu
mm just curious
why does any mammal need milk after weaning age? they don't, that includes us
specially not the milk of another species, geared for the needs of their young only!
there's always ovolatarians, lactovegetarians..etc
i have tried soy beverage...ugh
I'm vegetarian but don't take my cheese.....if cheese messes up my body and mutates me I'd just buy a wheelchair and sew myself an X-men costume (and bald cap) ...the only thing that would make me give it up is if it was proved to reduce intelligence but I'd probably just put my fingers in my ears with a gusty "lalalala"
dark green leafy veg, certain nuts and seeds contain better calcium for us than another species' milk does, also soy milk is rich in it
yeah, well they're not all created equal, that's for sure, soy milks that is!
lol cheshire i love cheese also
some I can't stand, some are great--just have to try different ones til you find one you like!
rice, almond and hemp milk's nice as well
hello everybody
you have not lived till you try whale milk..the inuit use it as an aphordisiac;)
hello!
i don't like soy.... but I like almond milk, hazelnut milk...
howdy ruby
I wouldn't try it, it's not produced for me to have
lol ruby you do come in at interesting points in the chog
there's something about the expoitation of other living beings, that's well, just wrong to me! so no
2 left
he doesn't want to grow blubber at a rate to keep him warm in the ocean. imagine that.
lol
ha!
54% butter fat....
I'm 2/3 way
and how do you milk a whale, Crossy?
i am so far behind,i think im first...
very carefully ata,very carefully
I'd think so!!
first you say"please/"
wouldn't they just kill the whale and then take the milk straight from the glands?
hahah
oh yeah, that's a lovely thing to do, Seain
each traditional inuit villiage to this day is allowed 1 whale kill per community
but not drinking milk when you're a child leads to bad teeth later. You should see the teeth around here!!
well, it would seem natural in that culture.
certainly easier I would think!
actually, ruby, most of asia does not eat milk once weened, and they have fine teeth.
in the north all this stuff vegans eat simply does not grow in the 9 month winters
no it doesn't, not getting proper calcium does, but the best forms don't come from that source anyhow! I think bad teeth are the result of not brushing properly as well, some kids are very bad about that!!
that is true, crossy
when my son was a baby and we spent time here, other mothers were horrified that he was drinking whole milk. They'd mix it half and half with water.
yeah, it wouldn't crosshair, no
would have to be imported, very costly!
hello seain, that's true, but their diets have less sugars and starch and a lot of fish
lol,a loaf of bread in ft mcmurry or frobisher bay costs 10 dollars
or grown in a hothouse, which can be costly of needing much more than for a family
Hm, looks like I chose a good moment to go on break. Ruby, I grew up on soy milk. Please refer to profile pic to see how my teeth have done ;)
did they dilute their own milk for their babies??
Chinese diets are largely pork, and korea eats tons of beef and dog and pig.
hello, Jesse m8, how's you?!?
yeah, it's awful, Seain!
OK, you show off NB! People around here kid me about having "American teeth"
LOL ruby
and ta for sharing that, Jesse, my point exactly!
and my Swiss dentist loves me!
Jesse, you on messy? ha!
you're likely his easiest client, ruby
have to feed pups but will miss this scintillating food chat!!! see you later
Ugh, don't talk about it, Seain! When I was about four and still living in Korea, my parents once forced me to eat dog meat - we had a dog as a pet as well...traumatic. Horrible, horrible, horrible.
Not at the mo, George, I'm just on break at work! My phone ain't that advanced ;)
that was all i had to say about it. :)
OMG, NB, that is terrible!
when my son was a baby, it was out of fashion to breast feed, so I don't know about that. I did, in the US, but was def swimming against the tide.....
well, i must start heading out for interview. Til later, folks! {poof}
*poof*
Interview? Good luck :)
a lot about how well teeth do has to do with genetics too.
Wooo- just got one left to find
wtg Ches!
up north, and being of u.k origin, our teeth were forever being worked on
Done it
Finished
good luck with that, Seain, ace it!!
Whoo Hoo Ches!!!!!
yaa for ceshire
i never had clorinated water till i was 20 or so
Well, cheers for the chatter folks. See you for the next one!
what you got, an iPhone, Jesse? not many would do this, so must be??
That's right ;) I regret ever getting it...it's magical. I can't use it but it's the best toy ever.
lol nb,i plan on getting a pair of the new i-phone 4,s
if yours is a 4,id apreciate a review
Ohh, I'd wait until they iron out the kinks with it, Crossy - the new ones disconnect if you hold them at the wrong angle, I hear. Mine's ollld now though, nice big crack in the screen that widens day by day..
i am watching the cut out issues carefully
it has to do with bridging the antennae with you hand
i imagine those bumbers they offer will fix that
Jesse, left a comment in your guestbook a min ago!
bumpers*
and another, now!
and if you are carefull a light coat of clear-coat nail varnish will also fix it
oh George, that reminds me! Sorry for leaving so abruptly on messenger the other day - my flatmate let my friends in and they all kind of piled in and jumped on me ;)
Ooh, looking now...
I like mine, Jesse, does what I want it to, probably don't use all the features yet, just want to take and make calls and tweet from it! oh god yeah, speaking of that, some hacker got into my Twitter account over the past few days, posting spam on my page!! I was just lucky he didn't change my bloody password on me--odd that he didn't!? I had to change it 2x, did it once and he got back in!!!!
oh yeah, that sounds like what happens around here a lot, mine just show up and barge in on me, ha!
quite! they are taking advantage of my weakened state ;) I didn't know your twitter got hacked - what kind of stuff was posted? Just ads and nothing nasty, I hope?
BINGO! Top row grayed out!
oh yeah, you didn't see the adverts in the tweets streaming into my page?? the first was a link to a fake page getting you to input your Twitter name and password, to supposedly sign up for a service that gets you more followers--phishing to steal the accounts of any who entered theirs!!
hey there... does anyone have the 10?
I'm working on it now Dor
rude! hope there weren't many people who fell for it :(
you'll undoubtedly get it before me... clue when you do please?
ugh, that is my break over. Back into the fray - got to abandon my crutches for another six hours now!!
yup. got it
yeah, I hope not as well!! the spammer got a lot more people following my page, who weren't there before!
think girl frats...
me too!
but make it boy child's

mmmm Aiden just ground flour and made pancakes with peach chunks.
It's alright, has its good moments and some bad ones. but not too bad at all!
thanks for asking Bugs, whats new with you??
school is over so I am on holiday. It has been pretty frenetic so far but now I am slowing down so I can enjoy it. love sleeping in!
m9 you are SO spoiled. lucky you
fireworks
well done m9. Just in time to eat
I am spoiled.
m9 is spoiled! in a good way, and FIREWORKS for M9 congratulations!!!!!!!
at least until she gets married and goes to spoil her hubby.
thanks red!
guess the icon theme is Bastille day?
yup
off to get icon.....then maybe sleep or eat or, ohhh I am tired.
it is supposed to be red, but I began to feel pressured by doing icons every day and went into lurk mode to hide my shame. I am over that now. Just going to do them when I feel drawn to.
LOL.. your cloud says it's a water lily not far from your home
Happy dreams red. You do such a good service for frightened souls
LOL Bug.
sn
Oh I do them whenever. lately they have struck my fancy....I got frustrated when the icon theme was "Household tools" or "Gardening implements" but clouds with silver linings, and bastille day I can manage.
you were one of my models red. I only started doing it because it was so important to jillibus but sometimes I just want to relax, let go of daily stresses and play for me, not others.
I like tomorrows so I will find a celtic cross and then will leave it up for a bit..
Household tools or gardening implements is easy though, isn't it--you could put up a pic of a broom, that could be either, ha!
I have a Celtic cross tattoo'ed on my right shoulder, goes down the outside of my upper right arm!
must be huge George
not really no, far as tattoos go--or are you saying I'm huge? ha! well yeah, you'd be right, but I'm working on it!!
I meant the tatoo you beast!
My youngest had a huge celtic cross tatooed on his back and i had photos of it but lost it when the computer died
beast, eh? ha! well could be, I suppose!?
oh yeah, Bugsaw? his is probably bigger than mine then, I would think?
"from ghosties and ghoulies and all the wee beasties, dear Lord protect us"
I always call people beasts when they tease me
kids love it
eh, didn't matter to me any, been called much worse things, ha!!
wow..so now you're a roman statue beast!
hello all!!!!
I didn't do it to insult you, just honour your teasing.
HEY stidmama!
YAY m, btw!
blimey, m9, yeah--gone from being in ogre to this!?
down to 70 earlier.
ha! wasn't insulted, Bugsaw! not a bit, takes a lot more than that to do it!!
hoping to get a few more before I head out... I am actually almost ready for the presentation I need to give tomorrow!!! *very pleased mama look* then I can start the paper that is due next Thursday... and do more research on the lesson I am co-teaching on Tuesday and...
if you can't have a sense of humour about yourself, your probably a miserable person, I reckon--laugh at myself all the time, I do!
you must admit tho George that your icon is a bit intimidating.
LOL..I just noticed that my profile says this is a pic from family camping trip!
no bugs... not intimidating, an attempt to appear tough from a person who really isn't
what is the presentation on stid? Not trying to be nosey, just curious
intimidating? it's just a quick snap I took myself with my mobile phone camera one morning, literally after just waking up, barely awake--and the light in the room was just too bright, ha ha!!
<-- works with middle schoolers and parents teens (familiar with technique)
I am going to outline the assessments I intend to use when student teaching.
hey m!
phew stid..I'm exhausted just reading it!
eh, stidmama? wasn't trying to appear tough at all, don't care to be or look that way!
:-D sorry George. was being flip, but you don't know me yet...
I was just not sure I had the phone camera in the right position and the light was a bit bright for me, not even being awake yet, ha!
I'm not very tough, I'm a marshmallow! unless I'm forced to be, but try to avoid that as much as I can!!
and ha, m9, you take familiy camping trips in some odd places!!
just keeping using that evil eye look George when you need to be firm. It usually works well, especially with such a beautiful eye colour
*flops* enough painting for the day. eyes going funny
need to leave in a few.... drat. just remembered I needed to turn on the dryer about three hours ago! have to head out now it seems. down to 59 and will be back later after I take the kid to his afternoon appointment...
have a good day stid!
OH! NEWS!!!! stidkid#1 has his first real, professional "gig" playing 2nd trumpet for a local production of sound of music!!! five performances!!!! *proud mama look*
hey atalante!
go go stidkid!!!
well done stidkid #1. He is on his way as a pro!
and i'm back :) hi, bugs, ata, stid, et al
I am so happy for him. But it doesn't get him out of cleaning his room...
way cool about #1, stid!
beautiful, Bugsaw? there's not much colour in my eyes, they're such a pale blue! not quite albino though, ha!
seain! interview? news?
sweet!!! tell him congrats for me!
yeah, he's got an interview today! hope he aces it!!
hi dc!
that's how my dd's eyes are. and her cats.
possible immediate position, but i have tech skills they need, so i should, i hope, have something soon
cat's
conveying congrats to stidkid now...
hi, m9
hey seain
oh ha! your there are ya?? didn't see you come in, Seain, how did it go??
i have the obscures skills of MQSeries, EDI, and Mainframe, which gives me an edge
yeah, great, sure hope you do--feel good about how it all went, do ya??
YES!!! *celebratory choclits and champagne for seain*
((((hugs all)))) *poof*
went well,i think -- i'll hear more in the coming days. And i'm in the running for another position, too
hasta, stid
they look pretty blue here though!LOL http://tinyurl.com/27w87uc
yes, i do
obscure is good
but, i have long history of working as contractor
Seain I am so happy that it went well and that you have an edge. Even better that is will mean work soon. Will really celebrate when something comes thru for sure.
interesting pic, m9, who is that?
I tuned in to Tim and Gage's convo. My lovely husband is telling my 4 yo which way to run if there's a bomb....
that's my 14 yo
looool and which way is best?
oh yeah? she's pretty!
it was a terrible photo. So I played with it. ;-)
oh yeah...like you can tell from that!LOL
her nose looked huge in the original. this really downplayed it.
terrible? doesn't look terrible at all!
I favor putting a paper bag on my head and waiting calmly when a bomb comes
re
the wide angle had distorted her.
well yeah, you can see her features, eyes
Atalante I love your cat icon
and lovely hair she's got!
VERY lovely hair.
ty! Sily's new favourite place, she sits there for hours!
here's the one she's using as her profile pic: http://tinyurl.com/24y9vmt
what's a Picasa Uploader, m9? I don't have whatever that is but I've put photos on Picasa, without installing anything?!
aww, yeah, she's lovely, gorgeous long curly hair!
leaving now for a bit. Happy Babbling all
there are uploaders for photo sites that let you upload more more quickly, George. There's a few for Flickr, too
oh... for fb, you have to use an app to move pics from picassa editing to fb
yeah... her hair is great since we found the book "curly girl"
oh yeah, I see, haven't tried to move anything from Picassa to FB yet, probably won't, keep the two separate!
as one with curly hair, i hated mine til i learned to use highly humectant shampoo and conditioner.
yeah, Seain, seen that but never used any, just do it the regular way and it works ok!
yeah, mine was never really curly but had a lot of wave in it, which looked nice when I grew it out long
yeah, i just do the straight, regular uploads, too.
we don't use shampoo anymore.
just put a hilarious pic of my cat up on FB
exfoliate every so often with baking soda, rinse with ac vinegar. lots of conditioner with 'cones'
eh, m9? what do you wash your hair with? I don't use shampoo anymore either--but that's cos I don't have anything to wash with it anymore, lol
oohh..you're shaved?
exfoliate what? not your hair, surely??
well yeah, cos I don't have enough hair anymore to bother leaving there!
oops. I meant without cones. No..scalp you lilly!
<<<<<likes bald guys
I used to use apple cider vinegar on my hair, yeah
tried to keep it healthy, while I had it, didn't stop me losing it though!!
i've found cucumber is good for hair, too.
and avacodo
coconut oil
don't need all those "shine serums" and such.
I
seaweed is good top
*too
I'm going to try making my own conditioner.
what's a good name for a very small grey female kitten?
I found on web someone made own recipe to reproduce the deva curl products
um..dust bunny!
Elina says "smokey"
Tim says "vesper"
I thought Smokey too!
Ok I have finally returned from getting a bastille day icon!!!
Moonstone
ooooo. Knew I'd get some ideas here! A good friend has a new baby .... and doesn't know what to call her
cortex!
Vesper is a *great* name
I vote for either the Princess of darkness or "friendly" both names my parents use for their gray cat. He is actually the prince of darkness, and not very friendly.
lol we've just nicknamed one of best friend's cats Mademoiselle la Satan
griselle
griselle, I like!
dorien!
I usually like to name my pets with bad names from the Bible, things you would never name kids...
grisabella (glamour catO
my last several have been named for gemstones/minerals
I have had Delilah, Laodecia (who became Dicey, and was diecy), etc...
I heard a woman at the park once.. she was yelling at her kid.. I thought she was swearing...
ohhhh lovely grisabella the glamour cat
sings, "Glamor cat, glam cat, Grisabella, the glamour cat....shes got fur that sparkles and shines like hematite...
GLamour cat...glamour cat...
so I asked her her children's names. They were all named from the bible. the girls fared ok: nikota and katuri I think. but the boys were Eliazar and Boaz(the one she was yelling at)
yes, add in the Us please :P
oh!!! there's a name from the bible .. umm.. it means little curly haired sheep..
ahh I am not a good brit.
But I do always spell oedema properly.
litle curly haired sheep!
One day I want to call a cat Ailuros - it's the Greek for cat and means "wavy-tailed"
ok I must nap, it is Pizza night! once it stops the torrents of rain.
I think my next pet will have a normal name like "fred"
talitha!
ooooo!
we have a grey cat named Cinders
and hello all
hi python!
in translations it says it means little girl.. but I went to a lecture once where the guy said it meant little curly haired sheep.. so he imagined the girl had curly hair.
en
oops, hi ata
I grew up with cats named Amos and Tobias
that's wonderful
to date, we have had cats named PJ, Fluffy, Smudge, Kiki, Kissy, Cinders and Tibs
I have my lovely SIlverclaw, which is an alternative name for Titania
ok... hard to find.. most things just say it means girl. but! : "The female equivalent of Talya was Talitha, literally "ewe lamb" and figuratively "girl" (the word is found in the Narrative of the Daughter of Jairus)."
I love all your mineral names, dc
Our cats now are Tai Tai, and Jessa (jessa jessa the kitty contessa)
we
when my son was small, he named our first cat PJ, and I always said it was because he was the cat's pajamas, my son never got the joke
we've had in the past: Pip (short for pipestrell..he was all black), Hansel and Gretel (a brother and sister dumped in our hedge)
my Dad knew some sisters back in the 20's or 30' named: Pearl, Ruby, Opal and Garnet.
well.. I better go make that laundry soap. Anyone need clues afore I go?
M9, that wasn't in Kentucky, was it?
no. Washington. But my Dad's mom (also a Ruby) was named by her mom from Kentucky
i've a grandmother fromk
and since it seems a few Kentuckians went to Walla Walla..... they could have been of Kentucky roots.
I've a grandmother from KY, a Ruby, with sisters, Pearl and Opal
cool! We used to visit Pearl when she was a very eldery lady.
but when she was a young nurse my dad took her to see Gone with the wind when it came out!
he and a friend were supposed to take her and another nurse. but his friend couldn't make it. so he took them both. sat between them and he says the tears just streamed down his face at the movie and they teased him. He always was a crier at movies.LOL
nice, m9
awwww
ok. if noone needs a clue..I'm off!
byeee!
be well, m9
bye
afternoon, python
hi dc
pretty cat, python
thanks, dc, she is 16 and was very sick last week, but made a surprising recover
good for her!!
*recovery*
we knew she was going to be okay when she smacked the dog in the face
LMAO
glad she's doing better :D LOL
is this a tough grid or is it just me?
it is a bit challenging, i agree :) i went to list at 36 left
all the i's!
37 left *sigh*
i have cat in lap and computer on chest that combo always makes it hard to stay awake
lol, i bet
Hi again! May i have help with the second O word from the bottom left? I have the OK4/8.

oe8, which is same as es7
Ha! Got it!
bbl
TY anyway DC!
hasta, python
wtg, eeyore
your icon makes me think of schoolhouse rock
It is actually Little Miss Sunshine for the Mr./Little Miss series.
And to tell the truth...I kind of look like her!
cool :)
How about the second E word from the bottom row? I have the ek4/8.
it's a big en5
brb, rabbit needs water
I was trying a longer version of that word! TY!
{{{bunny}}}
CAR!!!!
Hi Honey!
howdee
bak
I am thinking a nap may be in order....can't remember the last time I took one...
naps are a good thing :) I"m a big fan. I miss siesta time a lot.
this is what I am thinking....
I laid down earlier, I am just so tired! However, now I wish I was still asleep!
Naps should be part of our culture!
yeah they should!
I totally agree. loving your groovy new icon, btw
Fi agrees with me...it looks just like me!
THAT one we are not going to discuss today. BE yotch!
I know, I heard.
it got worse. off to her dad
she is there for dinner tonight, thank god
you 2 need to find some middle ground.
But that age is so UGLY!@
she can get off her bony ass and meet me in the middle. I am sick unto death of her lazing around here like jabba the hutt
OK...speaking of getting off one's arse...I am off to VBS set up. Big surprise...cyndi and I are doing it alone....again!
are you going to be there setting up tomorrow? I can help you, and so can the girls

HI everyone! Welcome to babble unshake
any clue for the oe 8 / 40 please
Hi wv, if you have the es 7 add an o at the beginning
had the es word - didn't see the connection thanks
you're welcome, "borrowed" the clue from someone earlier
Do many people complete the whole puzzle?
I certainly don't Unshake
a lot of people do, a lot of people don't!
yeah, with help from the Lickety's Babble Clues page and www.morewords.com -- some of 'em don't even need those and finish very quickly!! I rarely finish, not as easy for me yet and too busy to be on much!
Hi Ata and George
hello Mom
hi Mom!
an even 100 down, time to scrounge something up for supper. {{Hugs}} to all of you
hello again!
hey Mom!
see you later Mom... LOL
hi stiddy!
how are you doing these days atalante? is your leg all better?
noooo ... just got told off by physio today lol for trying to do too much!
blast. I was hoping you would be up and about and ready to come to the babble meet in August and walk all over Olympia with me. *bummed out mama look*
even though I know you weren't actually planning on being here for that... LOL
nooooo :( probably end September ...
end of September is often a lovely time of year in these parts. End of October almost guaranteed gray.
it really depends on if and when I can actually sort out a research visa
I think it's more when than if, really... but of course their time table is not on our schedule. *bummed out mama look again*
Does the "Tile Stats" section refer to the amount of words remaining that BEGIN with that letter?
yes, unshake, that's what it's about
the second # is how many start with that tile
and the first number is how many you have found from that tile.
yes *sigh* it's just proving SO hard to get hold of people at OSU, UW etc
I wish I had string to pull atalante, but I don't have ANY connections there.
and Evergreen doesn't have a marine biology section. Unless you want to do microbiology... phage, pseudomonas?
it's literally trying to get hold of *anyone* with any say! I'm hoping that after summer hols it'll be easier
that's likely, atalante. They are also in a search for a new college president, so that might be taking some time as well (at the UW, that is)
noooo my eyes hurt after staring down a microscope all day :P
Ha funny. First time on here and I am actually an undergrad at a big ten school studying something similar to your discussion :o
welcome unshake!
down to 37 and thinking of listing... *squints at grid*
speaking of eyeballs, the eyedoctor last Friday made one simple suggestion and it has made ALL the difference in the world!!!! I can see again, though I have to take breaks as soon as my eyes start to feel tired.
what are you studying unshake?
wonderful!
Genetics, Cell Biology and Development
at Minnesota

Yeah, sort of... Haha I'm leaving science very soon :p

why leave science? *puzzled mama look*
Law School... Sort of have had gaining interest the last couple years and losing interest in my major.
well, that makes sense then. Better to study what brings you joy.
clues for re 7/32 and se6/21 please
hey Matches, re 7/32, feeling sorry for something you did or should have done.
se 6/21, a preacher's talk

YAY Stiddy!

Be well, stid
Hi all...just got here...i i i
hi babblers! :)
Hello, SeaSpray
Hello, Cathyar
How is your leg doing, Ata?
ok ... I had my normal telling-off in physio today LOL
Whatever gets your through the session
"you're doing too much!" "stop it!" etc
Hello, nice to see you Atalante and BR! I must just get on the chat at the wrong time.
hello everybody, just popped back to finish hopefully
hi jacq! hi stidgmere!
heya ata
Hi jacq. Hope you are enjoying the day. Ours is blue skies, shirt sleeves and berry picking weather.
24 left- will I succumb?
ours is cold and wet and windy, more like october or november
am jealous gmere
We are having our entire summer today.
of course last week was too hot. typical british weather!
lol, we had ours last month
ata, we cannot say that this far north, it's been another poor summer so far
ick :( it was sooo hot here last week. now rain and thunder!
We had 7 weeks without one single sunny day which finally ended in mid-June.
wow
it's St Swithins day tomorrow, and we have a forecast of rain
How does one celebrate St. Swithins' Day? Is it with bonfires usually?
no with a prayer for no rain lol
if it rains on st swithins day it is supposed to rain for 40 days
Oh. Now those were serious questions. Ooh. 40 days? I see the seriousness of the situation.
it is based on a tale than when St swithin (who was a saxon bishop) died he asked to be buried outdoors where he could be rained on and trodden on, he was for 9 years then his body was moved and there was allegedly a huge storm on the day his body was re-interred at winchester cathredal
good evening
hello magyk
Poor St. Swithin. A simple request that had to be tampered with. Thank you, jacq for I was totally ignorant about the saint.
so was i until a couple of years ago
poor St Swithin
You know I read the news on Google but to find out what is happening in the world, I go to Babble Chat. Here is where i found out about the snows in Great Britain this past winter. This is even better than twitter in my opinion.
i have a question, which may sound ignorant but it isn't meant to be
is the catholic church the only one of the christian faiths that makes saints?
Yes, I think it is the only one with Saints. Anyone else have information on this? As a person brought up Catholic, I know about that church but am not able to speak for all Christian churches.
greek orthodox maybe
*grumble grumble*
what hurshy smurshy??
Hmm, you know Atalante, I think you're right. What about the whole Byzantine branches?
work.
i found a stone and well dedicated to Saint Jessie but i have never heard of a saint jessie
make me feel better, point me to the 10
it is in the highlands, an area with a complex and bloody religious history
there are certainly a few wells / crosses etc dedicated to saints who are only known from that one inscription
so10/70
Yes, I think Holy people are often locally known (were) and honored.
well of course the catholic church was once the only game in town (in the UK and other places) and they encompassed a bit more variety back then.
please, is that weird or normal, ata?
they have over 10,000 recognised saints but jessie isn't one of them, it was dated 1856
it is related to sound Hursh, of a bell perhaps or a voice
oh, well 1856 isn't that long ago
weird. what a bell-ringing fraternity might be called
so that knocks out my comments
thank you
and the 8's are te, and what other two?
oe8/40
fe8
my starts
*stars
all i really know about 1856 is that it was the end of a famine that meant many scots either left or starved
1856 is the last 4 digits of my home phone #!!! LOL! ;)
Bell ringers play changes. They are kind of a noisy group. No hints here I don't have a clue about the so 10 word.
lol cathyar
me either stidgmere
Is there any way locally to find out about St. Jessie? I didn't know Scotland had a famine in 1856. I am so amazed at the number of things I have never heard about!
so8 - loud noises
a bell-ringing *female* fraternity lol
got the oe!
hmmmm
well the famine wouldn;t have been helped by the clearances, it helped clear out many small towns and crofts, and around that time many highlanders were forced from their homes and shipped to canada
blame canada, blame canada
HEY HURSH!!!! :P lol
but no amount of searching has helped, this well is in the middle of nowhere at the side of the road
it just seemed to fit...
the only blame lies with greed hurshy, greedy landowners
jacq, i know what you should do!
and the brits expelled many canadians from nova scotia to louisiana...so there! LOL ;)
get a stone and date it in the past and call it saint jacq and set OTHER people wondering!
LOLOLOLOLOLOL i think all the demons of hell would be set upon the world if i proclaimed myself a saint
oh the fe's are the easiest ones, silly me
ok...back to that elusive so 10/70 please? i just can't see it...not smart enuff to interpret ata's clue i guess! LOL
I think I have given up the idea of personal sainthood. The requirements are too stringent for me.
think of a sisterhood, for college maybe and change the hooked letter for another
sorry, change the first hooked letter for another consonant
oi...sorry jacq... *WHOOSH* over my head. :(
oh...oh oh oh! wait...mayby
ok you get fraternities and so********, frat houses are for boys and so******** houses are for girls
i think i may be close! :)
so8: college clubs, with one changed consonant
ok change the first r to another consonant

Ah, the word was nice, ty jacq. We shall fill the PB with fresh scones, jam, and tea. Maybe some Scotch whiskey.
i don't have that ke either
you do now cathy lol
lol....i guess i do...LOL...ty
im watching a live aid thing just now and i can remember watching this very film of the famine on the night it was shown live
ummm...dare i as a clue for the fo6?
it means a strong foul smell, i have seen it before without the o
also a singular, of the fo7
wish i had the fo7...then i'd have the 6. lol
strong, foul smell...hmmm
it is usually a 5 letter word ending with id
any other clues?
Well ello babble friends
three letter word for enemy and most of the word for the rise and fall of water controlled by the m***
hello MPittore
Hello MPittore. A grid with many challenges today, I find.
Hi jacq...been lurking and working LOL...here's another word play...only three t's til a fountain..LOL...feeling silly today I guess!
Hi stig...go go go
oops..*stid*
Stid...is that Yoda talk???
definately a challenging grid...got the enemy part, but the rise and fall of the tides has me baffled...and I should know this being from the town with the highest tides in the world!
my dog/kid keep distracting me too, which doesn't help. :S
I moved on...I'll back to it later. I'm just diggin some tunes now.
lol really the rise and fall of the tides has nothing to really do with the word, it was a clue to a normal use of the word
enemy and hill or mountain
i didn't think of the hill part
ok back to the grid...going in for the finish! brb
i'm a rubbish cluer, i do much better when i forget to move my cursor
hmmm...maybe i'm looking at the wrong 2nd vowel. retrying
I guess it did sound like Yoda, MP but that is not totally bad.
no enemy is the first part then another word for hill or mountain (s)
stepping away for a few mins :S
Yes stid....I agree Yoda was cool! My friend's nephew is a major collector of Yoda "things"...I once talked a Pizza Hut into giving me the cling-ons off their windows, that cracks me up Cling-Ons...funny!)
ir6?
One to go....brb
F I R E W O R K S or Fountains!
i never knew that was another word for hill or mountain...monkeyed it... god, i feel stupid! LOL
YAY MPitt!!!
wtg MP!!
sorry cathy, i just assumed it was a common word
wtg MPitt
and the tides thing either... LOL...I need to go back to school maybe!!! HAHAHA!!!! :D
no prob you guys...y'all are just sooo smart! :D
nooooooo, not me, i wish i was smart enough to make sense when i clue
Congrats MPittore. Very fine achievement!
jacq...you give good clues, i just don't clue in quick enough! ;)
woohoo! just found 5 more words without clues... 43 to go! :S lol
go cathy!!!!!
orris
oh sorry
lol *bows* thanks jacq! ;)
oooh...and thanks too! :D
stoopid cursor
I put cinnamon rolls in the pb....
Maybe wel'll take the whiskey out of the PB, it is a little bit too wobbly-making I think.
LOL i am gonna get FAT in the PB, in just one night
How nice, a good cinnamon roll makes me want to join you jacq in the PB but I usually write through the lickety part of Babble and that prevents many extra words slipping through.
32 left now! :)
fireworks!!!!!! finally
some strange words today even for babble
stidgmere, i should probably do it through the lickety part but have no idea how to
Hooray jacq. What a fine achievment. I can use the lickety because Stidmama helped me with it. I would be even further in the dark ages without the help of my daughter.
YAY jacq!!!! :D
it's odd, i have expert but have never explored the buttons along the top because i usually run straight into the game
Choose the add words or chat box and it pops right up. If you only put one word in, it goes to lickety's list. If you type more than one, it goes to chat.
oh i see so easy to use
but it's slower
Well, it may be a mini second slower but just think, you and I are in real time, exchanging our ideas and it is just for the price of a Babble membership. This is such a gift.
click on the Lickety Add Button Jacq. It will put a small screen up which is where you enter the words. You can move it to where you want by clicking on the blue bar on the top of it and dragging it to where you want it. This will update the word on both Lickety and Babble
Morning all
thats very true, the best money i ever speant, true value for money
hello lynxxx
Hello lynxxxxxxx, morning is it? (I'm doing Yoda talk today.) We are finishing up a glorious day here in the NW. Hope your day is as lovely.

i don't think this is a an easy grid
it's not easy at all TO
there is a word that uses 3 of those 4 i's
ir6
I agree TO, the first word has given me trouble all afternoon. but, I have probably done as much as I need to.
I think its a lot easier than the last 3/4 days, at least I recognise all the words (cept for the last 15)
ya lyn, i am stumped at 111
can some one give the stats for the 10? is ia compound?
well bedtime here i think almost midnight and i have a day with my mum and stepdad, building a shed and explaining my decision to move in with my boyfriend

g'nite jacq...thanks for you help! :D
then it must be a disease
lo, what an interesting day Jacq. Byee

Oh, I can't complain, Magyk ;) considering following River's example and keeping my 'life updates' in my profile, so I do not clog chog - there will be some more coming up soon, you see, since I'm going to Korea to tell my family that I'm, erm, alive.

Local ones, of course.
thx again, magy
And yes I would like one of those machines to store meat in the freezer properly.

Yes but there is conflicting Ideas. Just thought I would see if babblers had an idea
boil it for 20 minutes
Thanks Jill
I know that if it smells funky to bin t. But it has been in the very back of the fridge sealed
According to the US Dept of Agriculture Meat and Poultry Hotline, you can keep homemade chicken stock in the refrigerator for only about four days; however, you can keep stock in the freezer "essentially forever." (bacteria won't grow in the freezer)
:( Pini
sorry, herin...seeing if there are other opinions
No problems.
A week in the fridge is stretching it - but if you cannot freeze, place in the bottom back of the fridge, this is where it is coldest. Don't depend of sniffing. It will taste slightly "off" about a day before an odor developes at all. When you taste something and your mind says, "does that taste a little different/a little weird?" that is when you toss it. Never use anything you have a question about. It's not worth it. Better to freeze the broth in a small plastic container with a date on a label (although I never remember to date things). Then use it within a couple of months. Let's say 3 months tops.
That is were it has been Right at the back as our fridge is freezery
