RE 6/7
whateva?
Clues are up
ty lickety
thank you lickety
DE6
hello George
ta, Lickety!
well hello, flosey!
nice of ya to say hello! how's you?
ty lickety
great thanks, George, and you?
flosey did you see my question?
sorry mlf, checking back
no mlf, I found it by google
tired, after a restless night, following my bedroom being flooded yesterday evening, but otherwise fine thanks, flosey! time for a new roof!!
Belated TY Lickety!!!
oh yuk, George, very nasty
Oh George, how awful!
very cute flosey good find
oh, you speak, Jill? you never answered me or said hello?? yeah, wasn't fun, see my updates!!
hi dee hi, hello George, and thanks, Lickety! (Just tore my eyes away from the grid)
buckets and other containers all over, catching the water! happens whenever we get heavy rain, old houses are fun sometimes!!
Sorry, George, didn't see anything but the grid, as I said.
yeah
Old houses need new roofing!
ad7/8
ha! had this one redone once already, Jill!
PA7
should show you an aerial shot of it! lots of roofing to replace, big job!!
not a good job, then, George!
MA6
having part of it temporarily repaired on Monday, roofer was by last night to look at it, he's gonna give me an estimate
and old, yeah, that it is -- try 1867!!
<-- shudders at the thought of what the estimate might be
although that's not 'old' by our standards, ha!
yeah, you and me both, Jill, I'm shuddering to think!
wow George, that's even older than the house we lived in in Ontario
yeah, well it's not really 'old' for over here!
Oh, a mere newcomer! The farmhouse I left in the Montreal area was built (started) in 1850 -- amny additions since.
we never had a leaky roof but we did have a fire caused by ill advised chimney - we had been told what to use!!
oh yeah? beats mine by 17 years then!
oh hell, musta been scary, that! never had a fire, other than in my fireplaces--touch wood! (touches head)
hello agian
again
But se didn't have lions guarding the front door -- just Great Danes flopped on the sofas.
I didn't find out until everything was out! but hubby drove up the street, coming from work to find all the fire trucks, etc hard at work
jess is that AD word something we should know?
oh yeah, well your Great Danes were probably better at guarding the place than my lions are! they're bloody idle, don't even move when anyone approaches the house, lol!
I was working late that night
ca 7
c anape
same thing with the Danes, George, although they tended to lick everyone to death.
no, my lions don't even taste anyone, let alone bite'em, ha, ha!!
ty erda
yeah, ta for that, Erda!! very generous of you to share, ha!
pa7 -- or has someone called that?
pa7/36
i called a PA 7
eh well
PHANTOM camera
hmmm, guess panabode is a company name
hmmm, got a pa6, not 7
never heard of it!
nbt
ca7
ta, Jill -- didn't see a 6 till you said that! xx
flsoey the 7 is by itself
ed5 and oe6 are the same thing
thanks mlf
yeah, too much water!
phantom; banana
ty jili didn't have the oe 6
welcome flosey

pe 7 x2
oh yeah! how's that photo backwards, Jill?
Christine -- not the person rejoicing, lol!
pe 8 that is
But you enjoyed the game, nonetheless?
Oh yes!
Did you read the writeup, Chrstine?
looks like you played it against your AH partner - and mine!
is there an oe 8?
Not that photo, George -- the sequence in Flickr of the August 21 gathering.
The cheering lady made a grand slam?
PHANTOM bacon
Right, flosey! Funny!
did anyone find the 9?
dee no i tink its a PE
strong foursome
The cheering lady's partner made the SMALL slam.
not me Dee no 9 found yet
oh yeah, know why? you haft upload photos in the reverse order of how you want them to appear, silly that but that's flickr for ya!
The cheering lady was the dummy. But she's a good friend anyway, haha.
BO 6
same when you post them in your yahoo pulse page, so my brother says--he's got an album of pics in his, I've not put any up there yet
Yes, George, I wish I had done that, but they're OK in FB.
yeah, well you can redo them on flickr
when you email pictures, they are received in reverse order
Can you??? Oh, I must try some time, when I have time -- not now.
de9
ty whiz*
Hi jee
Hi jilli! yw volley
97 left i am out poof
Hi Jee, what a sweet little girl you have there
I'd have nbt if I had the A and the M in the bottom right corner...
bye mlf!
ah, thanks flosey...me when I was about 2
a real cutie Jee
:)
aww how cute, JeeWhiz!
thanks george...I am incognito...:)
A little beauty, jee -- bet you still are.
I have a baby pic of me on here, I should post it, ha!
I think you should post it George!
I'm more incognito than you, Jee! lol!
ma6 and ad7 jilli
good job and all, would frighten everyone too much if I took my hands away from my face, ha!
well, jilli, let's just say I am MUCH older now...
ty jes...*thinking...
88/45 - time to say goodnight :)
nonsense, George!
night nan!
george, show your true self and be proud!
pe 7 x3 if not called
I don't even see one p7
aha! got the ad7 -- ty jess!
there is a pa 7 too
and the ma6! NBT!!!

nbt
nan, there's a list...
* all common words
was stuck on the right e
yes I saw that lickety is up -- haven't listed yet though
ed5, flosey, same word as oe6
yeah, gonna post it, JeeWhiz--right now! had to find it and crop it to size!
oh, thanks jilli
for the oe
oh good, george -- bet it's adorable!
Ok George, I will be watching for you.
let us know when it is posted
phant -- banana
lol, we'll all stop and gaze at Little George
that's appeeling phantom jilli
haha ruru
changed it, probably doesn't how though?
unless you are dole-ing out more jilli
here we go, ruru...
yeah, I was cute at one time, eh? what happened to me?? lol!
my younger brother was cuter though, he had the looks in our family, him and my sis of course!
ah....so cute! Don't you love old photos? You look very sweet.
sweet, Geroge! You're the one on the right?
youngest brother, meant to say--have another in between him and me
Oh! You're the one on the left?
yeah, I was still sweet and innocent, ha!
and one sister, George?
no, Jill, the LEFT!!
did you cut the other brother out? I see an extra ear...:)
still sweet george.. just not so innocent
yeah, coz I had to -- photos must be square or they don't display right in these bio pages!
far, far from it, ruru! ha, ha!!
How many kids altogether, George?
I have 5 brothers, 1 sister, try fitting us all in one pic in the bio so we're all still clearly visible? ha!
Does your other brother's name start with G also? I am fascinated by family names that are connected. What is your sister's name?
but my sis babbles as well, so you can just look up her bio page!
the brother beside me, yeah, Gerald's his name
your sister is lovely, George
but why does it matter if his name starts with G too? none of the others' names do!
yeah, she sure is, flosey -- she's the brains of the family as well, I say!
gd morning
morning ruby!
hi there ruby
I agree with flosey about your lovely sis, George.
Hi ruby!
ha! she was ready to swat me last night!!
How are you seeing George's sister? I don't see her on his photo pages.
well, yesterday evening, like, when the rain was pouring in my bedroom ceiling! she was running about gathering buckets and other containers to collect the water, while I sat tweeting on my Twitter page, lol! she was doing such a good job of it though, didn't wanna get in her way!!
no, JeeWhiz, she has a bio page on here, find her in the Rankings -- her player name is Shivs Fitz!
Jee, I had met her here some time ago.
Shivs Fitz -- sorry, you want it on the same line, to copy and paste it!
you had met her where, Jill??
ok, will try to find her. I thought I must be a little daft compared to all of the rest of you seeing her...:)
my son's wife is one of 7. Their last names begin with D and so do ALL of their first names!
here, George, in Babble.
wow, they must really love that letter, ha!
yeah, nm Jill, I'm out of it as usual, lol!
ruby, that's like all the Geroge Foremans
it can get confusing!
our surname begins with O', Irish!
so I'm 'GO'!
how many words today?
133
wow, guessed right about the ad8!
Go George!
eh, Jill?!?
guessed what right about it?
well done jilli
guessed correctly
well your loads smarter than me, can't even see it!
got it, thanks jilli
it's the noun form of the ad7
and the 7
well if I had the ad7, but course I don't!!
wtg flosey
<< feeling stupid
He was an Britlish singer, back in the 80s, George
perfectly normal word, George, I'm quite insistent about that.
I just got the a7, whoopee
ooh, just saw it!!
was looking from the wrong side of the grid, lol!
Oh yes, Christine, lol -- there was evena Gt Dane named after him!
yeah, saw it before I saw your 'insistent' bit too, Jill, so quite proud of that, ha!
Really? one of yours?
Not one of ours -- we were totally unaware of pop singers.
who are you talking about Christine, me??
I don't remember much about him, but I think he dressed as a pirate? Johnny Depp type.
oh, lol, never mind -- see who you mean!
if this grid had an s there would be twice as many words!
yeah, now just saw your 2nd comment here, lol!
yeah, know him!
ooh, just found the ad8 relating to that, Jill! ta! xx
yw, geo :)
over halfway :)
wtg jilli
your doing far better than me of course, Jill!!
aha, just made it
half way, that is
wtg flosey
certainly not "of course", Geroge!
well yeah, of course, of course!! ha!
Geroge? that's a new one!
sorry, geo, my fingers get muddled
Geogre, ha! (Ge-ogre)
just found the de9 *gloat*
yeah, well that proves your far smarter than me!
that's better -- Ge-ogre, lol!
well done, Jilli
glue for that jilli? pls (or an 8. for that matter)
snap -- I, too, was ready to 'gloat' .
it's a silly word
clue (or glue, if it's a compound)
de9 -- add the picnic pest to the de6/27
got it, really is silly
ooh, ty jilli!!
ooh, ta! xx
I didn't even think of that, didn't occur to me!
ridiculous, wot?
I keep trying demented
lol, got it as soon as you said it was silly
eh, not quite.......
do you have the da6/27, ruby?
but I feel that way sometimes ruby!
if you do, add a picnic pest to it!
Jillibus -- that could be a clue for your crosstics: insist on picnic pest
yeah, Christine!
Christine, it's cryptics, not crosstics. Crostics are another thing altogether, and I used to do Double Crostics too -- great fun!
ooh, oer halfway now!
But yes, that would be a cryptic clue :)
yeah, they can be fun but some of them make my brain hurt, Christine! lol!
wtg geo!
I have half but not nbt
at least I suppose that means I have one!?
My brain is not what it should be. tonight - difference twixt crosstics and cryptics, if you will ...
half a demented brian, too!
don't ask me, Christine, couldn't tell ya anyhow, ha!
I'm sure I know/knew the difference, at one time.
half a demented Brian? don't tell Brian that, lol!
duh!
half a brian is better than no brian
perhaps he's a half wit?
But half a demented Brian??? Dunno, seems like too much agaist him.
yeah, very true, that!
crostics -- acrostics -- from Wikipedia: "...An acrostic... is a poem or other form of writing in which the first letter, syllable or word of each line, paragraph or other recurring feature in the text spells out a word or a message"
I love acrostics, just can't get enough of them
There are books of Double Crostics etc -- see amazon.
I've bought many of them
I think that may be what I ordered, last night.
bet Christine would love our acronym game, eh Jill?
and the New York Times published one every other week
oh sorry, was ruby who said that, lol!
Fun, aren't they! I haven't done them in years.
paradeam
shows how tired and out of it I am, eh!?
also the Atlantic Monthly
Yes indeed, george. Too bad it fizzled.
Sorry, and not an acceptable word
Christine, if your gonna type a word in here instead of the grid, at least make sure it's one that works, yeah? ha, ha!
found the pa7 at last :)
just hit the wrong key and lost the game for a minute. Perhaps that's a sign that I had better get dressed!
In my head, it sounded feasible.
In my head, it sounded feasible.
yeah, looked feasible and all!
So nice, it posted twice!
what a tease, ha!
83 down and will save 50 (fat chance!) for later
back in a bit, putting kettle on!
and just got the pe7! I'm not usually good at finding the long words!
if it's pe7/36, there's also pe8
and the pe8
just saw it, flosey ;)
seems an odd one?
yep
does anyone have a clue for the pa7?
(sorry, was watching CTV news, guys dancing)
pa7 is a cure-all
pa7 -- naughty Greek god, high card, vowel
thanks jill, knew the word but couldn't end it!!
yw :)
running out of steam -- back aching...
what have you been doing that caused that, jilli
my brain's shutting down!
nothing, flosey -- It's between the shoulder blades. I think I sit here too much!
It happens at bridge too.
ah, but you don't slouch
you sit nice and straight
hi all!
hi m9
No. I think it comes from sitting and looking down at the keyboard or the cards! Strains the back muscles!
hi m9 :)
yes, understand that
Hello, m9f91
how's the grid?
OK, 100 found, 33 to go and I've had it for now. Big day tomorrow -- going to Duncan to do lots of errands plus getting the car serviced.
not too bad, m9.
I'm at 44 and really slowing down and 2 bts..
exciting jilli!LOL
stats for right e and a?
Not really, m9 :(
back and hello, m9! how's you??
ed5 and ad7, I think, m9
stuck at 46 words.LOL
just back, have a fun day tomorrow, jilli
100 found, Jill? how have ya done it?!?
I'm stuck at 75 words!
thanks jilli.. I'll look
I've been at it 11 minutes.
flosey, I'm not expecting fun! Thanks, though!
I have 97 and am also stopping at 100
go go flosey!!!
oh heck, at least treat yourself to a nice lunch
got the e. thanks!
George, the list helps :)
yeah, should open it I suppose, ha!
the theme is games?
oh george!! you were such a CUTE little boy!!!!
you both were!
card games, George
I could post a pic of my scrabble set open on my dining room table, with Phil and his mum sitting there, ha!
Like where, Flosey? It will be Tim Horton's. But I'm treating myself to supper at the Seaside on the way home :)
aww ta, m9, yeah I was cute once -- whatever happened to me, eh? lol!
you're still very cute and you know it!
ah good, not familiar with Seaside
George, I list the themes in my bio.
Gerald was cuter though -- he's always been the looker in our family, of all the boys!
eh, no, m9, 'cute' isn't a word that applies to me!
You are so, flosey -- where we had lunch with Bugsaw.
oh, sorry, was thinking of the other side!
well I think it does. so there!
I'm gonna look up a game pic to post! probably my scrabble set!
all "almost 6 foot" of you!LOL
Nothing much in Crofton.
NBT!
No, George, CARD games.
wtg m9!
no, pretty boring there, jilli
Well, I'm off -- happy babbling all, and I hope I have time to finish tomorrow. *poof*
oohh.. got an 8 on my own!
bye jlli
night jilli
american president is in the grid
1/2 way!
wtg m9, you're fast
Well, I have 88/45, and I'm still looking for the pa8, so I'm calling it a night ... read for a while. See y'all tomorrow.
goodnight Christine
ok, have 100, 33 left for tomorrow, goodnight all
night christine
morning all
night flosey
night flosey
hello sprite - and goodnight!
oh GREAT icon, flosey!
ty Sprite, check Jilli's it's unique
eh, Jill? well I don't have any of those, now after resizing and cropping, I see you said that! ha!
will do
new icon here
oh that is you and her!
oh nice one, m9!
no sprite, that was taken at a recent game at our club - I haven't been playing lately, will be getting back soon
aw not you :( I do see jilli though. Have you been poorly or just too busy to play?
a bit, sprite, but looking forward to getting back to the game - also our ladies league starts up this month
I do play online most days though, have been playing with a fellow in New Jersey for several years
ah good you feel up to it, flosey! I hope you will have lots of fun... and good cards :)
ty, it is a great game - one we can play on into dottage
:D Keeping a hand in hm?
one of our club members was playing couple days before she died 100
** at age 100
I would be awfully bad at it. I like card games with lots of laughter and banter, and not so much depending on memory. I do play Klaverjassen... (Jass?).
get to bed flosey!!!
wow flosey!
lol yes, get to bed, dear. Sleep well!
darn... penalty box already for me...
hi Sprite!
hey lyn :D xxx
sorry to be late in responding, I was writing an email to Ata.
Haven't seen you for a few days, all well?
yes am well, was early last 2 days. And didn't chat the day before last because the spoiling people were still around, so I hid the chat.
how are you doing?
Very well, just got eyes retested (hate all those drops) as I have finally found a cheap set of frames that I like. Some of the prices have been ridiculous - like $600-$800 a pair - excluding the lenses
omg! Those are insane prices! Am glad you found a cheaper pair.
I must be off to therapy, will be back later. *hugs*
about 30 years ago I spent $500 on glasses - I hated them after 2 weeks and always swore I would never spend that sort of money again
See you later perhaps, I am out to dinner so maybe not
I am right with you. Lots of nicer ways to spend that kind of money :) *ppof*
hope you dont mind my saying ....but have you thought of buying your frames on line
hi Mills. Yes I did actually, had a quick look but decided it was too risky. So many times you fall in love with frames but then they are just awful on your face - on mine anyway!
areae
sorryyy
so am I - I had it already
i`ll try for one you haven`t got next time ....lol
Morning Babblers ... can anyone clue the ca6/24 please
Found it
Hello, All :Phantom Banana.

oh hello!
hi!!!!
hi hi!! ha!
back at last... and lunch is a lovely pizza! Endulging myself for once.
hi sprite.
hi m9 :)
just read back a bit. Who are the spoiling people??
good morning Babblers :)
hi nan!
hi Nanette!
sprite I just had some breakfast pizza
mmm pizza!
wow! Never tried it for breakfast, must be lovely.
oh it is, has some scrambled egg and bits of bacon and sausage on it
yummy!
bacon is a phantom today. But this grid isn't as phantomy as yesterday's.
not as phantomy but those that are there seem to be foods :) bacon and banana
hi and good mornng
has anyone gotten the bottm m?
morning Bichon
lol yes indeed.
hi bichon
hi bichon!
hi everyone
yes it is an extended lady
ty NoNo
wait, that's not the bottom m
yw
the french spelling bichon
voila! ty again
another phantom... camera
did we have trolls the other day sprite?
not when I was on
camera isn't food... or is it? Squid rings?
oh. then who were the spoiling people?
nooooooo not food this time
unless its made of chocolate LOL
the babblers that insist on giving loads of clues and lists of letters.
a chocolate camera?? where?? LOL (combines two of my faves!)
ok, a chocolate camera will do! :D
ah!!! yes. I understand
I used to play early after the flip, but now I come later if I can. The grid and chat are much more fun that way.
hi again
hi Carlee!
hi carlee!
people at the flip are so serious
hi sprite..nono
yes. I don't mind the calling of the big ones that happens after flip.. but there is definitely a period of time where the cluing is a bit much.LOL
thye aare intense
hm, maybe, but not about really babbling, lol. More about how calls words first and who is fastest and who can lists the most words per letter.
they*
I like flip time!
I like my grid without clues until I really need them
i rther have a friendly chat happening then grid talk
it's a different energy for sure..
well.. Ineed to get some shuteye! yikes!!!
yes, I like the chat when it is about everything and nothing, sometimes very serious, sometimes hilarious, and all in between.
uh yea..duh m9
I have read some of the flip chogs and they don't sound fun at all, those people are way to intense
that is the easy part, m9 :) But then, to fall asleep!
in the 'old' days it was intense too, but not competitive nor spoiling. It was considered very bad ma6s to give away too much in chat.
and nowadays it is ill received when I say I like the challenge of the grid... times change!
the challenge of the grid is what I find so addicting. I may grip about a grid at times but still look forward to them
lol yes, gripping is part of the fun. Well, however much I loved the old days, I wouldn't want to miss a whole number of Babblers that came later, so in the end, all is well.
have you been babbling from the beginning spirte, I started a bit over 3 years ago and have heard that things were very different at the beginning
still here after all... just helped Tim get out door for work..
Have been babbling for about 6 years now, not from the first day, but I was pretty early in the game. It was very different.
morning all
morning Kallia
I agree Sprite, very different in those days
Chog was quiet back then, and in the very early days not always friendly. Around the time I came along, things started to change. We helped eachother a lot, but in a way that still required you to do your thinking for yourself. Cryptic clues were very much appreciated. And we did not have tile stats. Some of us produced 1st letter stats and word length stats when we were finished. To see them, you could scroll down to the early chat.
hi Kallia
i like cryptic clues.
no clues until people were desperate, and then convulated so you still needed to think
very different was that when someone could not find a word, he or she tried harder, and did not blame the grid or the helpers, and did not demand another clue 1 minute later, or spelling clues.
I belong in de PB now, darn. Second time today!
hate those clues that say ....ma + curly letter + cross letter etc..
lollllll exactly!
i'll give them at 3 minutes before flip though!LOL
yes, I don't want it spelled out for me
cant see the point in playing if you need it spelled out!
it was ok back then that this game was challenging. And luckily for a lot of babblers that is still the case.
m9, just before flip, all rules are void! That has always been the case, grin.
I used t
helloooo :)
Ata!!!! *hugs* Done knotting?
hi Ata!!
oops sorry.....used to always strive to finish and most often did, not so obsessed these days though
hello Ata
hi ata
I wish!!
I still like to finish, but that fits my personality and my hunger for words. It is not an obsessive thing.
hehehe well, at least you are here now... time to unknot or unwind.
just working out colour schemes :)
but my beef with the spoilers aside, I like the babble community at large and I consider many Babblers my virtual friends.
yeah but if for any reason I cant I just enjoy the fun of finding as many as I can with no lists and no clues lol...sometimes that is many other times abysmal! lol
that is how I used to play before stats :D
nowadays, knowing from which tile a word comes makes it a lot easier to find.
yes it does
I have asked drGod to make the tile and word stats hideable in the new Babble...
great idea!
I like the tile stats, just not much else in terms of help
hi atalante
yes a very good idea, I try to ignore the stats for as long as I can
it would be great if all help things were hideable. A simple "click to hide" would be all that is needed.
hi carlee!
maybe if more people ask for it, he will consider it.
If I play on my notebook, I can't see them unless I use full screen
hi carlee
hi kall
oh smart! I should get internet on my cell phone next time and play it there :D
yep that would work lol
i like the help items..i am usuallly 1/2 asleep when doing the grid....i find using the "tools" ( as u use each one differently) kinda wakes up the thinking pathways of my brain..if that makes ANY sense at all
oh yes it does! It is amazing how playing Babble leads to using your mind and memory in different ways. As with the tools, it works for all in another way, but I know what you me4.
general clue, lol: past-tense everything! Just found a weird one that way.
i litterally feel pathways waking up ....
good morning friends! a very quick few minutes before the student onslaught begins....wondering -- how long do I babble before I am no longer "new?"
hi Trif! *hugs*
hi Trif
you're all new to me anD sPRITE :p
i did not realise u are new trifs...u've been here quite a while... so.no longer new
yes always try to past tense and plural
hugs all around right back!
that is for you to decide. To me, you are an 'old and de4' friend.
ohh, thanks sprite!
ugh...am working this am... for crazy lawyer
lol yes Ata, true! Kallia not so much though. She is relatively old.
I had no idea Babble was so "young". When I first started playing, 3 years ago, you all seemed like a very well established group.
hi Molly
I just didn't want to appear to be cheeky, assuming I am a long-time babbler, or any such thing
hi Molly! The 'group' feeling has been rather strong in Babble for a long time now. But yes, Babble is a rather young game on the web.
The "collective soul" here is very nice. I've been very impressed at how you all rally for your members when they are in need.
its a lovely group molly
Ata precedes me, btw. She is the one who told me, when I was afraid to use any kind of help, that looking up the actual words is cheating... all the rest is research!
yes, Kallia's old too! :P Not *that* far before you though Sprite!
it is a special community for sure.
i remember when i first started i didnt realise there were "hleps" available..i brought out my huge oxford dictionary and started to scan....
me too molly. And I think I agree with sprite, to an extent -- I like the challenge of finding words without the list, but I really do appreciate the list on days when I want to finish a whole grid. and I CANNOT STAND the babblers who demand to be spoon fed, and won't use the list - drives me batty!
oh I did that too! Used my dictionary a lot in the beginning, not at all used to internet dictionaries.
see, Trif? You are an old soul :D
i am somewhere in the middle of souls... not old..but not new either
sprite my love, we are kindred spirits through and through
we are, Trif.
it is great to see you in chog, btw, Molly
funny that soul age thing -- was just discussing this the other day. my oldest, a boy, is just clearly a very, very old soul, and my middle child JUST got here, and my youngest is somewhere in between the older two. I can't tell you how I know that, but somehow I just do.
Thanks Spirte. I usually play from work and can't chat much but I'm off for a few days. Yay!
I know exactly what you me4. Same for my kids. Daughter is much much 'older' than son, even though he is 14 and she 12.
oh nice :D Free time is so lovely. Especially when you can babble and chat!
hi everyone. I do the grid without the list at first..see how words I can get then I depend on the list to finish. Babblers who like to be spoonfed drive me battty too.
ok..gotta run peoples..have a lovely day
wow sprite, i never realized how close in age our children are!
hi Annie
hi Annie :)
good morning annie dear!
bye for now, carlee, have a good day too
bye Carlee, try to have a good day
we could be sisters, Trif. Silly universe got things mixed up when they put us continents apart.
hi nono, sprite, trif!
carlee, you are the babbler who makes wine, is that correct?
actually, I read an AMAZING short story about that once - women who were oceans apart, and yet were connected in their thoughts by some fluke.
that must be a very special story
I will have to see if I can find it again....I do love good short stories.
I think she has left already Trif, but yes she used to make wine but I don't think she does any more
thanks nono. i sometimes get my babblers confused
ok.. gonna leave 15 for later. bye all!
hey less of the 'old' lol...long term member:)
that is easy enough to do Trif
bye bye m9
bye m9
lol Kallia, I was waiting for that! Young but experienced babbler?
bye m9, have a good day
hehe...I was making an addition to my bookcovers and only just saw it :)
bye m9
whooo, careful there, sprite! "experienced" has a slightly different connotation here!
hehehe :)
LOL
lol Trif! Well I guess I better stick to 'old' then... at least then I know how I am being offensive!
LOL
oh, how I miss those mornings when I got to relax and enjoy a nice long chog and babble! Don't get me wrong, I love my job, and I am happy to have one, but these early mornings are killing me! NOT a morning person....
crossy also does not like mornings...ewww
argh, it is so tough to convince your body and mind that you have to be in another rhythm now. I am a morning person and I always had this severe dip around 15.00. Still do, but at home it doesn't matter much.
but look at your phantom today! bacon!
heyyyy crossy, lonng time no see! *hugs*
and speaking of work, I must away. But I am MOST sorry to leave you all.
hi Crossy :)
bacon? where?!
((sprite))
lyn said you recently went through the whole ap5 testing thing... is that correct?
afternoon crossy...that phrase was not found by the dictionary lol
bye trif, have an easy day
have a great day Trif!
i have inded and have a cpcp machine now
bye Trif
my love has had the testing, will get the results at the end of this month. How does it work for you?
bye Trif, *hugssss*
it works well and has saved my life i am sure, but there is a severe learning curved involved with using the machine and wearing the mask for the entire night,so be patient with your love
I will, promise. I cannot imagine sleeping while plugged into a machine, it must be really hard to get used to.
and do not go cheap with the cpap machine you chose, get the mid range one
bad news is 1000 dollars at least
ok, will remember. My love hopes he won't have to have the machine, he would much rather have an operation and be done with it.
mine was 1700 with the full face mask set up
ouch, that is really expensive. Not ensured for that?
the govt picked up 700,i payed 1000
still an awful lot of money, but you are worth every cent.
and you can grow out of apnea,so i would think long and hard on the operation
my love is in his fifties, don't think he will grow out of anything anymore
maybe his trousers, lolllllll
any inasive procedure should be avoided till there is no choice...scrabbs will agree
lol
invasive*
we will wait for what the doctors say first. As I understand it, some people will benefit from a machine while others should get an operation. Or even other measures.
lol, thats my problem, grown out of my trowsers
yes, I think that is true. An operation is normally the last option.
yes,listen to your doctor
lol I was kidding, my love isn't much overweight. Just a beer belly... beer muscles, as they call them here.
here we call it a molson muscle,in honor of the company that placed it there
:D funny!
crossy, do you feel you do have more energy now?
any alcohol, will worsen apnea as i am sure you know
more energy and the doc says i have lessened my chance of heart attack and stroke
I have told him that too. But he loves his beer too much to listen to me. I hope he will listen to his doctor.
wow that is great! Can't be easy, crossy, but I am glad you did it!
i have cut right back on hard booze and limit myself to 2 beer per day
my love doesn't drink hard booze at all, only beer, a couple of times a week.
and even after 4 monbths,i am still only managing 50% with the mask all night long
is that bad? Sounds pretty good to me, for something so hard to get used to.
I use a c-pap
well as you know,it basically rams air down your nose or throat all night long,to keep things open so you do not choke or stop breathing
and it can be a apin sometimes
pain
hi Jean, does it work well for you?
I can imagine, crossy. Thanks for telling me. *hug*
it works well, ill not deny its effectiveness, just a learning curve is all
it's pretty much as crossy says
a pain but keeps you from dying
indeed
i prefer living at this point;)
My mask has the nasal canula, could not stand the full mask
worth it, then.
i was very, very close to a cardiac event,i was stopping breathing 40 times a night
i need the full mask only cause my sinuses are shot
cocaine?
;-p
I have to go, alas. Thanks, both, for sharing, helps me prepare for the end of this month. Bye all, have a good time!
nope,tequillia mistakes of my youth;))

HI
hi Herin
hi
*plays 'hail to the chief'*
Hi Hurshy
I have a nerdy question is there a female version of Manus at all?
Hi Hurshy
morning all
Hi Peri
La Shana Tova to all the Jewish Babblers, or is it La Shanah Tova. Either way Happy New Year!!
Tovah even
And the same to you Peri.
just got from a sleepless night and that was with a sleeping :(
ty
Peri what is the name of the thing that lives on the door that has the Torah in it?
Womanus, perhaps?
a Mezuzah
Shana Tova and why are we babbling today?
It does not have the Torah in it..it has a piece of the scriptures
both are correct, peri
Thank you. I have one on our door
I like that idea Soodle
I knew that Annie just wanted to include both, how are you?
peri, why a sleepless night?
HI Annie
hi herin
Annie would you even considere taking the train to Phila. I would take the train to NYC sometime and we could meet
I usually have sleeplness night and just go with the flow but I decided to take an Ambien CR. afater I did I just laid there, and tossed and turned. when I did finally sleep, I woke up again. not good. company coming later for dinner
peri, I wish I could but with the peripheral neuropathy plaguing me right now, I just can't do.
it.
I think I asked that question before
oh, did not know that Annie
Anniee :(
are you diabetic Annie?
peri, I never mentioned it before because I dont want to be a whiner but it is very painful and sometimes walking is difficult and it is very tiring. No I am not diabetic..dont know how this came about.
Oh my Annie, miserable. Hello all. that is a very difficult pain to manage.
I am a good listener and I would never concsider you to be a whiner. sorry that it is causing you problems. feel free to e-mail at any time
hi all
Hi Red
Hi JM
Red is that your puppy?
goodness annie what are friends for but to listen to our woes!
You have succeeded Annie, no-one would ever consider you a whiner. You always seems so happy
hi jmc. and herin...
hey jmc
red, I am now taking 3000 mgs. of Gabapentin a day and it is not helping. I am going back to the neurologist next month to see if there is any help out there for me.
hi jmc & Red
there are some other medications but I am not very familiar with them. Annie, You might query KJE as she will be more familiar....
hi lyxxxie and jmc, thanks
peri i am a great fan of benedryl for sleeplessness if you take it early enough in the night
lynxxx you were inquiring about what was up with me. . . .
red, there is lyric and elavil but I am loathe to try them but I may have to
benedryl has not worked for me in the past
I have a telephone interview for one of my dream jobs today or tomorrow
Ambien has worked for me so far
*lyrica
you ran out of benadryl?
good luck to you jmc!
jmc, Oh good luck to you!
well what can i say --- i actually use bourbon most nights!
wow, jmc, neat!
Wow - really! do you want to share details or wait till you get it (as I am sure you will)
i got an email this morning from one of my references and she said they contacted her
found the de9
this is an executive director (in quaker speak general secretary) position of a national organization
very nice.
JMC i have everything crossed for you
jmc, sounds great
so the telephone interview is one of many steps?
Red is that your puppy?
lol yes if i get the job i will share all the details -- i am still under some restraints from my board about blabbing about resigning
yes quakers are not speed demons about anything
herin i think your bf would object!
I don't think so JM he is sound asleep :P
I would object if I had to pee
i just found a wonderful Thomas Merton quote. .
ys it is the Teulu wonder dog...
The rush and pressure of modern life are a form, perhaps the most common form, of its innate violence. To allow oneself to be carried away by a multitude of conflicting concerns, to surrender to too many demands, to commit oneself to too many projects, to want to help everyone in everything is to succumb to violence. More than that it is cooperation in violence. The frenzy of the activist destroys the fruitfulness of her/his own work, because it kills the root of inner wisdom which makes work fruitful.
Good luck jmc, hope it all progressing swiftly and to its logical conclusion!
My neighbours have a Teulu dog his name is Jasper
as long as its logical conclusion is that i get the job!
but of course!
Annie, are you still here?
:-)
OK I am being rude but I am about to fall alseep.
good night.

no i have that one
not mother either
ah you were right (of course) lynxxx
I have the brothel owner at ma5
I suffer from neuropathy from when I broke my back, they are not sure if it was the break or the surgery to repair that caused it. Nothing worked for me, gabapentin did nothing. One of my doctors suggested benfotiamine. it is a natural supplement b vitamins. I take large doses 4-7 capsules a day, and it keeps things bearable. I told my friend about this she suffers as well from an nerve problem after knee surgery, and it has worked wll for her as well
Fish oil capsules
on the label it says benfotiamine neuropathy support
That is a lot of letters Beth
okay no nbt before work for me -- the vowels have defeated me once again
it is a big label :)
bbl
beth, I just wrote the name down and I will look for it in the health food store. Thank you so much! Did you stop taking Gabapentin?
bye jmc, have a good day
bye lynxxx
*poof*
bye jmc
Annie, most health food stores do not carry it, go online. I am at work now i will check the site when i go home. Yes i stopped the gabapentin, it did virtually nothing, except make my speech slower
Bye JM
beth, I am going to google it right now. Thanks so much. My email is astern@aol.com. I would appreciate any information you find.
If you try this, take it on a full stomach. I had problems taking it first thing in the AM but i take it before bed now and havent had a problem in years
bye JM
dang it I need to sleep but I had a huge sleep earlier
I will ask the neurologist when I see her Oct. 14th
going to google benfotiamine. bye for now.
Take care annie
bye Annie
clue for de 9 please
i am happy to pass thios along annie, life was very difficult before this product. According to what I have read, no ill effects, You have to take it for a week to ten days before it builds up in your system enough to help. I can miss a day now and then, but it flares back up after that

But the last 3 days have been autumnal so I am mourning the end of summer.
Ithaca is beautiful! Did you also go to Watkins Glen to see the waterfall?
i'm not mourning at all, i hate summer!
autumn is what i love, cool and fresh and brisk
We saw gorges at Taughannock Falls Park, Cornell Univ campus, and then I met Feather + family at Robert Treman State Park on Monday.
I feel the way you do, scrabbler, but maybe we'll have an Indian summer (no Indians, though) hah
I like fall too, but I want to see the sun and I haven't since Monday.

Hello everybody :-)
hi soodle
you been into the grid yet?
Phew, thought I was on my own-ee-oh!
afternoon all...(here for a few minutes)...
lol.. I AM a bit distracted.. watching first season of design star on hulu.com.LOL
hi pini!!
but I'm looking for my last 4
I had a quick peek about 6 hours ago, M9.... didn't look too bad at first glance....How is it? And Hi Pini!
hi m9, soodle, et al
don't tell me it's horrid, I jumped in when I arrived!
phantom: BACON!
Oooh. AKA, the ghost of Crosshair!
(although I'm sure that everyone already knows that!)
not bad. I'm down to last 4
* giggle *
yup.. phant foods today. bacon and banana
which I hear go well together!LOL
Lol!
oooh, I got a 7 (my highest yet!)
hi everyone - hi m9 - I made a discovery yesterday - found a marriage certificate listed online (Church of Latter Day Saints IGI records) for 1905 in NYC!
nice find, jbv! :)
oh really!!!!! yay!
Oh...that reminds me...I need to see if my GGM's pic is on this computer...brb
I was surprised at how easy it was
so that makes the passenger list of 1901 more and more likely
I didn't have her name up at the library.. or I may have found that.. but I'm glad you did.. cause it's SO fun when you find something!
Do you or anyone you know have an account at Ancestry.com and do you know if it's worth the expense - they're asking 19.95 per month or 12.95 per month if you sign up for a year I think
I really think that's him too on the 1901 list.
jbv.. there is probably a FHC near you.. and they are free and they will have an account. only thing is you have to be there to work.. but plus side there's folks there to help you!
oh I didn't know that - I'll check it out - I live in central NJ
I just popped on. Was at one time doing geneology stuff, didn't get far...But what is FHC?
family history center.
so, what you just google that and your town to see if there is something close by?
you should look into it again phan.. more stuff online all the time!
oh my goodness, there's one right here in East Brunswick!
m9 you are a godsend - I had no idea where to look or where to go
and familysearch is free.
there you go!
The problem is my family is from Germany, and my husband's is from England. We are both naturalized US citizens
ah! that may be a bit harder.. but you never know.. you may just have to go a little ways and find someone who's already done a bunch of the work..
I do have a family tree done on my mom's side, but I am fairly certain it is not accurate.
Nope...not on this computer either (will have to try my desktop at home)
There is a famous person on that tree that according to published books he didn't have any surviving sons...
so, he can't be in the direct line
as the family tree says
I have an account with ancestry.com...I've only paid a fee when I know I have a lot of down time (so a month-at-a-time); otherwise I find myself paying for something that I don't use enough to justify...
but..no surviving past what age?
...there are plenty of other resources to find before expending $ (IMHO)
childhood ...
exactly pini
I should talk to my aunt to see if she wants to help me with it...
where do you live phan?
I live in maryland (central)
yes.. it's fun to work with someone else.
and my aunt is in Germany...
I have almost 60K names in my database...documentation and resources for a good portion of those in my direct line...
My family tree was very sketchy and one-sided until we struck up this recent correspondence with my cousin in Italy - we passed it back and forth a few times and filled in a lot of blank spaces
cool! I am sure there must be a way I can research overseas stuff here, but I have no idea how to find those places
how cool is that JBV!
Annapolis Baltimore Columbia Cumberland Frederick Hampstead Hancock Lexington salisbury Seneca Suitland DC and White Plains all have FHC's
very cool, phan - if you haven't seen my story, check my profile
You might consider finding a "research group" you can exchange communications with...for example, I am considered a "German from Russia" and work with member of the Germans from Russia Heritage Society (GRHS) based in North Dakota...they have been a godsend!
*members
M9, Thank you I will look into it!
yw
you can look them up at lds.org
you can also just go straight to the new site: familysearch.org
where you can ALSO volunteer and do indexing at home!
I do indexing! :)
well, I am gonna have to run. Thank you for the info.
so do I pini!
The Irish authorities have just published the results of the 1845 census on line. It was the around the time of the famine here, so records have always been sketchy, but I found some of my ancestors!
I used to do it when it wasn't so conveniently online... they would give me a disk
congrats, soodle!
I was working on the Irish census...
(sadly, I should get back to work...cya tonight!)
so COOL soodle!
happy hunting (babble and genealogy!)
No surprise, but I am Irish....through and through!
Bye PIni :-)
all 4 of my missing words are p's... and 6's and 7's!LOL

Happy babbling ** poof **
hi everyone!
Hi red. I just got here too. Looks like it must be an easy grid if everybody's gone
hi all
i am not even 1/2 way
It's kind of fun to get NBT with a grid like this; I'm trying to do them all in order
Hi jmc.
cat got your tongue?
nope, For some reason what I typed didn't print in chat! I said: It's a good thing it's a short grid then (since you're not 1/2 way yet)
SLOW response with chog too!
lol i often co** in, in the last two hours
i never got the chog to print nothing
:-P
same to you lol :-P
How are you doing. jmc? I've got to be at work by 6 AM (for clinic) tomorrow, so am glad this is going easy for me today
1/2 way
Good for you!
i am doing okay. could use more money at the center of course, but other than that okay
do you work that shift often?
same problem where I work. I guess all non-profits are like that these days
not losing too much income is the new up for nonprofits
We have 2 Friday clinics/ month. *I* try not to schedule anyone for the first time slot; but my partner does (and she doesn't co** in til 9:30! if someone is scheduled for 7AM).
And it ends up being a 12 hour day for me on Firdays, then
well that is rude!
Hello
hi herin
My job is the health history and teaching and prep for the CNM visit and physical. My partner does the lab draws, etc.
hi herin
Waves hello
ah then that makes a little more sense
*waves back*
Nef that sounds rather unprofessional not to turn up to the first appointment
howdy!
hi pav
Hi Mr Pav
I have a question how does one get out old oil out of the boot of ones car?
change the carpet
wouldn"t you use sand or something to soak up the oil and then vacuum it up?
Um it isn't in the carpet. It is in the well of the car
And we have a case worker and a receptionist. so the 5 of us (including the CNM) are the whole clinic. Our clients are there for 3 hours; they see me, the cnm, the case worker and the lab in that tiem. We usually see 6-8 clients on Fridays; 15-24 on Wednesdays (but those aren't the "NewOB" visits; they're just regular OB visits
then pav's idea makes sense
and how is mi'Lady otherwise?
Pav I was thinking that. Wont that stuff the vacuum if the oil gets loose?
I am without $$$ himself has my card
I'm lost; what is the well of the car?
oh hi nef herin jmc pav, i took a short break...
the trunk space Nef
I thought that was the boot?
it is a generic term for the space under the carpet in the passenger ar** or boot
the well usually refers to cars that are like vans or hatchbacks and have that recessed area under the carpet...
Shoot sorry I couldn't think of the word for the rear of the car.
Okay. I learn something new here every day! :-)
but if you use a shop or wet vac the sand and oil shouldn't hurt it
Where your spare tire sits that bit under the tire is the well. It is doing a good job being a well
of course we do have our language differences! lol
Thanks
is the 9 a compound word?
I wish I knew Kap Hi!
dont know kap
Hi! Happy 5771!
It's not a compound word. it's a de
Oh.
ad7/36 was the word that showed me that i had a spoken vocabulary and a reading vocabulary

*rolls eyes, debates smacking the back of jmc's head* donorschoose?
I love celebrity jeopardy- haven't watched it this week tho. I think it's not that the questions are harder, but the celebs are dumber.

Yes, we have no Bananas.
Hi Gwen that is also my phantom, driving me nuts.

i created a project on donorschoose.org for my classroom, to get some leapsters. jmc was one of my donors.
Oh, goodnight.
i also saw a celeb jeopardy where eric idle was completely clueless about american pop culture (of course, he brit)
brb
well if that is true kap she wouldn't make it to the finals
She barely made it anywhere.
poor cheech misread the final jeopardy answer :-(
except for you feather i have donated to poverty DC schools -- i am glad to make a difference
He'res my final jeopardy answer. "He spoke out against the 'nattering nabobs of nepotism'- or was it negativism. Anyway, he compained about nattering nabobs...
its was negativism
a local boy Agnew
Ok. the question is...
Oh how odd, I got licketys list and this grid was not that hard, I just couldnt see anything.
one o' them snarky republicans?
who is nixon's first vice president?
You forgot to say Who is Spiro Agnew.
too many Ns make it confusing
Now try this: He wrote the speeches for Spiro Agnew.
We're showing our age by knowing this.
that's awesome jmc
nattering nabobs of negativism untie!
hmmm my guess would be a liberal
Untie? Is that like Dyslexics Untie!?

sorry a tad dense tonight
The da 5/14 is river da* plus definite article jmcnrick

yeah, you leave your fig leaves laying all over the place .. can't you do one thing around here?
and the second da5 14..instead of Herve Villiachaise or whatever his na4 is yelling the plane the plane, it would be the spanish for the sea with a Jamaican accent
there's probably a board with my name on it already .. "NO WELKIS ALLOWED"
who's the better cook?
Welki, make an apple pie. There's a nice tree in the center of the garden.

ar 6/24 is a fleet of ships or the Spanish Ar**** big red
*sniffs armpits*, worries a bit... 'they're all leaving'. Jac, you're talking to yourself - first sign of madness.
Hi Min.
big red - think Spanish fleet for ar6.24.
i am still here jac *waves*
Hello Jacula
thanks all
*Waves back, still sniffing armpits, to jmc*
Have you done a clue story today. Min?
I used to do those but don't seem to find the time now.:-(
They were fun to do.
y/w Red.
Jac..it's quite alright to speak to one's self, it's the answering that signals trouble...
soory, I had stepped away to check emails...
PAV - hmm - as an only child, a surviving twin, I do sometimes answer myself. Or my twin does. Uh oh! Nut job!
*moves slightly away from jac*
and my response has always been, "I was looking for answers from the only other intelligent being present"...
Mind you, I was not told about the twin thing until my late 30s. Before then, I just thought I had a Jiminy Cricket thing going on. LOL
lol
fireworks! thanks all for the help.
LOL PAV.
Well done, big red.
i am sure you had mixed feeling when you found out
whoo hooo red!
such long lasting sweetness, that's Big Red! yay!
jmc - No. I didn't have mixed feelings, I was relieved to know why I'd always felt as I had, like part of me was missing.
thanks all
Congratulations big red on your fireworks! Way to go
oh okay i thought there might be a sense of renewed loss
but having never had the experience i wouldn't know obviously
No, not at all, jmc. Though, of course I wondered about my non-identical twin. Boy or girl?
Boy, I think. Don't know why.
did they not know?
No, jmc. Mum had lots of bleeding in first 3 or 4 months. It was only when I was born, so she told me when I was in my late 30s, that they questioned the size of her placenta and asked her if she'd had an abortion. She had not.
how interesting (if i may say so -- hope i am not being too nosy!)
This was back in 1956. Scans etc., weren't around then.
They had to go by what could be felt, and at that stage, you might not feel 2 babies.
they knew my siblings were twins before they were born because they could hear two hearts but i know that did not always happen
One thing I've never understood was how women can suddenly give birth not realising they were pregnant. There really is no feeling like that of a baby in the womb kicking you or turning somesaults in there.
Born Today Adam Sandler (44) Michelle Williams (30) Hugh Grant (50) Eric Stonestreet (39) Cliff Robertson (87)

Now I am seriously thinking of being damn cheeky and changing that tire
that is important herin
Think I can finish before the flip? I haven't even started ;)
NO CLUE...is the ra5/12 (1st) a fishy?
Actually thinking I should through that spare on because if it is stuffed it will give it a chance to go down over night or leave it to the am and get to the tire co on the corner
probably TNC...lots of normal words
i think everyone should know how to change a tire cook and egg and to sew on a button
agreed, jmc
The ra5/12 is female sheep plus double vowels Pinikula
not really fishy pini think double ending
I can change washers on taps too
i believe that is a male sheep min lol!

hi all
Here is my 2 cents people especially women need to know a bit about their cars and the parts as there is some dodgy asses out there that rip of women
It irks me to no end that I have done the research and go and ring about a part or a paint thing or a ''bloke'' thing and I get talked down to on the phone like I am just a girl
