hi mlf
hi flosey
hi Nfe
MFL is for personalizing her sheets and towels.
i am not liking this grid
No6
Christine were the fires close to you?
allo!
hi Pav
had an amazing steak dinner prepared by my closest friends for my BD...and a single tart for dessert for moi, since they are avoiding sweets...
hiya flosey!
I don't know, Dear - I haven't watched the television for about three weeks, so I know onlyy that they're in the So.Cal area.
lovely, Pav
ohh i heard about them on tv
my son lives only about 20 miles from the fires
wow pc
scarey
Daily occurence, almost year-round, now. Thre was a time that the newscasters spoke of "fire season", but now it's all the time. Too long droughts.
...and it's back to work for me tomorrow, so I'll be back on Friday or thursday. Off to take Joey for his walk...good luck to those babblers working this grid!
pca12, where does he live? I'm in Los Angeles.
can anyone give me the stats on the 2ND COLUM E please?
he lives in San Carlos...maybe we're talking 2 diff fires...I was referring to San Bruno explosion/fires
eo5, eo6
i hadnt realized theirwere two fires
thanksjess
yw
I think there are smaller fires, just north of L.A, but the San Bruno fire sounds brutal - I believe it's been going for some time.
since Thursday I think
Our state is sere and brown, almost year-round - an old man told me, long aga, that that's wht we're the Golden State: because from the air every this has a golden sheen.
*everything*
We lived in Orange County for several years way back when there were still orange groves around Yorba Linda...it was nice.
Actually, I think there's only 36 words in this puzzle.
good...then I'm almost done!
feels like it doesnt it christine lol;
123 unfortunately
When I first came to L.A., many of the homes had orange trees in the grass area, between the sidewalk and the curb. Now, mush of my neighbourhood has changed to apartments, and the orange trees are disappearing.
bloomin' fremlins, can't spell - much, not mush!
no worries on spelling...we get the idea!
I read an article that said, if you typed the first and last letters correctly, and the length of the word was about right, most people would read the sentence and often not notice the error.
it's true...and amazing
egises
Christine, I love the term fremlins! :-) it's perfect for this game!
oops! can't chat and play the grid so I'm off to the PB
Anyone old enough to remember the Playboy magazine? Fremlins were these cute little cartoon-girls, who say in martini glasses.
thanks, pcal - it hand't occurred to me to try for the plural!
here I thought you were trying a purposely mis-spelt word!
Stick around, I need all the help that's going around.
at your service : )
Christine, I remember the magazine, but can't say I ever read one!
elfs
My husband and his friends bought it for the articles!!
sorry, sorry! I really am done with the chat (poof!)
left column grey
hi ru,
Don't worry, you're not the first (or the last) to forget to move the cursor.
I think that in 36 years of marriage my DH only had 2 Playboy magazines; given to him by a friend when he was in the hospital (the friend wanted to "shock" the nurses (and I'm a nurse!)
One day last week, I typed a whole answe in the 'add word' space.
Would it hurt "them" to put a T in this bloomin grid?
Christine, I'm always typing words here or chat in the word box. I'm doing better than usual right now because I have a new keyboard and have to correct all my errors before I hit enter
Wow! I need that! My brain goes faster than my fingers, and I hit enter before I read my post. However, if that's the worst that happens to us, we're blessed.
The new keyboard seems to have a different type of key than the old one had. I'm hitting all the neighboring keys about every 3rd letter.
When I got my first computer, I'd keep hitting the key with ry right pinky -- very odd. At least that's stopped. I use a lapto, lying in bed, so I use two fingers on my right hand ans two on my left -- sort of hunt and peck.
fading fast here, I should give up and go to bed since I work tomorrow.
I have 57 words, and running low on interest in the grid. Time for a cuppa and a book. See y'all tomorrow. Goodnight, all.
hi all

and its plural
thanks Dee for that clue
I wish I knew who had owned the diner :(
yqw
hi Jilli
hi flosey, cute perfect wife!
I guess I don't watch the right TV programs
great icon theme, I sure don't fit that formula
bugger, if only i hadn't lived under a rock most of my life i would probably know who was on tv and owning a diner...as it is, i guess that it's not noel or les or wes...
think .. "kiss my grits"
man's name... singer... _ _ _ Brooks
did he sing?
gosh I'm glad i don't know what grits are because i don't want some old diner owner to get his lips on em

is there an author with that name hmmm...
I don't listen to the right singers either :(

I hope that helps
wtg dart!
Great going dart!
thanks m9 and melissa -- gottem :)
WTG jilli!
still 25 left...
There are a few weird ones in there -- can I clue anything else before I call it a night?
how about the en6 & 7, mel?
EN + the is4, then plural.
and now I deserve a fish -- those show up all the time too
Hee hee -- those were my second to last and they took me forever. I guess tonight's fish night.
Hee hee -- those were my second to last and they took me forever. I guess tonight's fish night.
darn, Tickle Me El** doesn't count
Good night/day all, and thanks again for the help jilli! Happy babbling :D
good morning everybody
hi ruby
hi jilli
just strated. Yesterday's grid was fun, but too long -- ran out of time
started*
I did too -- set my goal at 100 left, had to quit with 98 left.
had to go to bridge and quit with 5 hours to go before the flip
10 left now...back to the grid and then bed.
it is hard to find enough "extra" time
do you have the 8?
morning all
helllooooo :)
hello ata!
Ata :D Hi dear!
good morning sprite!
hello all - ruby i have just found the 8 - it is oi8 and is plural of oi7 and does not come off the grease word
does anyone have the lo 5/10? I bet it's something obvious but I can't see it....
hello ursh!
hi kateq
hi rubyfoo, ursh and Kateq
firewords
there's a lo5/10 plural
gratz jilli
ata, you were in yesterday's ghrid a million times! Did you see it?
noooooo! aww :(
yay, jili!
I think you must be VERY well-connected!
Thanks, Ata--I was trying to put it in the wrong place....
have we ever had atlatl again, spritey?
sprite, your icon is priceless!
:D thanks jilli! I loved your writeup, as usual.
nope Ata! Just rotl.
shame. I love that word
me too. We used to have a player by that name.
rotl and atlatl?? are they mexican lizards?
an atlatl is a throwing spear
Thanks, sprite! And I must be off to bed -- early start--goodnight all, and good babbling. Not too bad, this one.
rotl is a weight
sweet dreams jilli!
all the things we learn from babble!
*poof*
gd night, jilli
weight in what country?
near east I think
in muslim countries
around de Mediterrane
thanks
could be anything between 1 to 5 pounds, depending on the country
and the other one, atlatl?
sprite an atlatl is a throwing spear
a throwing spear thrower, to be precise
thank you, I'll try to remember them
always reminds me of the series of the Earth Children
by Jean Auel
is it cold there, sprite? it is really chilly this AM, prbably around 10C
yeah about the same and very very wet and windy.
and ata? When it's cold, does it make your knees worse?
I'll tell you when it gets cold! :P
hahah
lol no you cannot be the judge of that, Ata. You stayed in Greenland for ages. You have no sense of proportion.
it's not exactly warm here, but not cold either
oh btw Ata, I am going to give GW to my sister for her birthday. Am playing some myself atm and expect to be playing more... so if you wanna join in at any time you are welcome!
what did you do in Greenland, ata?
was on an expedition to look for fishy fossils
ayla's being a brat, she wants me to start playing WoW
GW is way more beautiful and way more fun, tell her
oh boy! We collect fossils without knowing anything about them. Just love them
Ata is the expert on all things marine, rubyfoo.
my best one is a sea fern that is about 15 millions years old, from China
and I have seen previews of GW2. If that gets half as good as it looks, it will be amazing!
she can't get hold of GW over tehre :(
oh wow rubyfoo, that is special.
it is the size and weight of a small tombstone, found in a gallery in Montreux which is not as good as finding it yourself!
my fishies were about 245 million years old, and the ones in Greenladn were about 350 million!
Good morning everyone, well am at work and am having a sneaky look at the grid lol :)
actually, I'm trying to find one for my husband's birthday at the end of this month. The only place I know, online, is The Evolution Store in NY, but their stuff is too sanitized!
Ata, I bet she can simply download it from the site and buy a key online.
hi jean! Multitasking, wtg girrrrl!
if I could photograph our sea fern, I would, but it's black on black and you would have to visit to see it.
lol
(which, BTW, is an invitation!)
grin, thank you rubyfoo!
probably, but the silly girl has started playing WoW now. brat!
I once found an amonite high up in the French alps
well, WoW isn't as much fun and the graphics aren't half as good. Keep telling her.
you will have to find one yourself again, rubyfoo. Hubby will love it.
I found a few at auctions here, but it's not a regular source
oh I will, don't worry
http://www.charmouthfossils.com/#Produ cts_for_sale
are there any stores that sell fossils in the UK, Ata?
thank you
and of course she is very welcome to join our guild, and sport the names of Simi and Ash...
that is a great help, thank you, I'll try them,; maybe I can make his 85th birthday happy enough to make up for this ghastly year!
also: http://www.fossilsdirect.co.uk/
*poo*
he's got you, rubyfoo, he should be happy
how many words today
these guys are very nice too, but expensive: http://www.fossilfarm.co.uk/
hi Boom, 123
ty
hello ChuggaBOOM:)
i have oi8 if anybody needs it
hi sprite jean
already found them, thanks
already got them, ty
phantom: semolina
yeah now that you mention it, lol
I can't stop seeing it
it is very close
Right better look busy, hope to come back later, Happy Babbling everyone:)
bye jean, have a good day at work :)
thank you sprite I will try :)
bye jean!
im finding this one to be significantly harder than yesterday
small ones usually are
I will stay my judgment a little longer. It went very smooth until it did not go at all anymore... now trying to get away from the brick wall. Yesterday's was friendly, except for the As, Ss and Ts :) Well, so4 of them.
but this one is fun so far
we recently had one that was both small and easy and hence it was disappointingly fast over.
think i know which one youre talking about.. literally finished it in less than a minute
yep that one
took me literally 32 seconds
lol
I finished before I started. I'm that good.
hi Haz! Welcome back, how was your holiday?
Hello! It was lovely, relaxing and interesting, all at the same time.
wow haz, I'm impressed!
that is good to hear, Haz.
did spangle help?
My favourite comment came from an American in Oxford. I overheard her saying how they'd managed to use cobbles to make it look really old.
Good morning/evening all!
loooool
FM too! YAY!
hi FM :)
Good morning, FM!
Helloooooo :)
That is classic, Haz.
painful, Haz
How are you Ata?
I know. Nearly as good as the American woman on safari in Kenya who assured other people that they wouldn't let the wild elephants near the camp, only the tame ones.
fed up with knee problems!
ouch, yes, that is as bad.
I'm an awful eavesdropper, but you do hear some classics.
awe poor dear :(
sorry to budge in, but what was the first comment for?
Hi Chugga
first comment/
?
Which first comment?
the one about the cobble stone
@Haz, with the cobble
Haz's one re the cobbles perhaps?
sounded funny
It was because Oxford is really old all by itself. It doesn't need to be made to look old a la Disney.
ooh haha thats cute
BRB, just got to sort out an email.
my favorite ones are the dutch couple in French, who needed potatoes and kept yelling at the sales woman in dutch: Aardappelen! Aardappelen! And then the wife said to her husband: "You must pronounce it more clearly, honey, she can't understand you like this."
The thing that always strikes me about places that have really old buildings is that when they're in towns/cities they're not treated in any precious way but are used - for shops and offices etc. They're not museum pieces but living parts of the city.
and another dutch person in France, wanting 'brie qui se promenne' - meaning runny brie.
What a lovely image - the cheese taking itself for a tour of the town.
running brie! excellent!
LOL!
so true, Haz, and I think it is the best way to enjoy them. Makes me feel so much closer.
its like canterbury
Yes, I think you either decide to make the whole place a theme park or you go with the idea that the buildings have been fit for purpose for hundreds of years and might as well be used.
mm vrey true Ata, streets and building steeped in ancient history.
lol Ata... cantering brie?
I did like that in Stratford, a lovely set of almshouses are still being used for pensioners today.
I love them being used. So much easier to feel connected to the days of yore.
my dentist is i a house from about 1650, most canterbury shops and offices arein old and creaky houses
By the way, check out my profile for the newest idea in babble marketing. We have music that people might have recorded. Further suggestions welcome...
lolllll! Haz, that is priceless. I love Paris by Paris... lol.
LOL, inspired Haz - will def have to think of some to add to that list!
The girl just sets herself up, doesn't she?
absolutely, Haz.
Yes, do get thinking caps on, I had a bit of a giggle doing it.
I will do but I have a house inspection at 10.30 today.
I have one that FM has recorded: Blame it on the Boogie
ROFL!!!!!!!!
Excellent! (for the Blame it)
are these joke titles?
Oh sprite that is great :) Yes Chugga.
Yes, Chugga.
Hello everyone
haz, you're just a ball of laughter. love them.
Hello, lynxxx.
hi lyn :D
Good evening lynxxx.
Glad you enjoyed them Chugga - further suggestions will come from babblers, I'm sure.
feel free to join in Chugga
Natural beauty' -Cher (with a foreword by Joan Rivers)
lol!
Great!
i spat out a mouthful of water on that one
all babblers should be issued with waterproof keyboards.
lol we know the feeling.
Radio Gaga for FM in her old age
im gonna think of one for celebrities. i absolutely love this idea!
I know. Either that or ban people from drinking while babbling.
ouch!
that was a double edge sword Ata as I am only just catching Haz up.
please do, Boom, Haz has given us something new and great to play with :)
I knew it would get you all thinking.
You're so vain by .... well, fill in the blank :)
'Do the Hokey Kokey by Ata (but watch out for the knee) ... *grin*
Celebrities, historical figures can all be used and let's face it, we have no shortage of songs!
I was thinking of you for that one, Ata... Smugalanta :)
*gasp*
'Don't put your bad knee in and shake it all about'
JUmp Around (the sproinging remix) by SPangle
I so hate to do this but I have to tear myself away for about 15 mins :(
awwwww
aw FM, too bad :( But we shall blame it on the...
The House Inspector is coming. Cue foreboding music....
will FM get stars after the visit?
And if it were on TV, the foreboding music would be accompanied by shots of a man approaching. The commentary would be along the lines of 'Will FM manage to get the house into order? Will the House Inspector believe that she has earned the right to stay? Or will FM's idyll be over? Coming up next....'
*sings Jaws theme*
what. Oprah is coming to Australia - and her audience! and Travolta is flying the plane
I should pop off for a bit too. Strange smells are coming from under the table where a certain Hobbit is resting ... her tummy is not very happy today ...
aw poor Hobbit. She must have eaten a fossil that rubyfoo would have loved.
back shortly!
I'm leaving on a jet plane by Oprah Winfrey?
Do they think Australians can't be an audience?
oh, I missed ata! Please tell her that I found the sites and am trying to ordere! Thank her milles fois!!!!
hi haz
Toodle-pip, Ata.
hi Ruby
Hello ruby. She's gone to see to Hobbit (gas mask on) but I'm sure she'll be back later.
wb rubyfoo
there is the biggest spider i have ever seen on the floor right next to me.. i am terrified i dont know what to do
i dont want to startle it.. like wow is it big
it is very tricky ordering online, at least for me, but I found appropriate gifts on two of the sites!
put a rubbish bin/mug/container over the top of it
Two choices - fight or flight.
Haz: I shot the sheriff by Annie Oakley
chugga: do you have a howitzer?
hairspray
Noted, sprite.
i wish!!!
drop a phone book from shoulder height
just let it walk... they do no harm
its abdomen is so large i wouldnt imagine cleaning up the guts
funny - I can imagine Chugga doing his hair and spraying it before tackling the spider
There's something you can do with a piece of card and a glass - get it outside and let it go.
I love spiders, but only outside. In the hoouse, not so much.
i was born a wuss, granted
the problem with spiders out of webs is that their movements are erratic
its about the size of 9 keys in a square formation.. its so large
Well, we all know what to do to divert Chugga's attention from the grid. Have a steady supply of spiders to mince menacingly across his floor. That'll show him down.
im not saving it.. it has to die i just dont know how yet
haz, that's how I save bees, but our big black house spiders jump
keys on a keyboard*
the hairspray will make her hold still long enough to sqush
our housekeeper vacuums them up, but I think that's a bad idea as they might nest inside!
9 keys in a 3x3 formation is exactly its size actually.. but im using a mac so our keys maay be a bit different
haz, I am always rescuing animals that come in the house: a bat last week, a hawk two weeks ago
"again the Jaws theme" Shot of the cupboard where the vacuumer is kept... slowly the door opens...
i tihnk the vacuum would kill them instantly
k im gonna kill this thing wish me luck
and I feed the outside spiders that live in webs
lol Boom, I am thinking piano keys
I don't think the vacuum kills them
just makes them angry
Hope it goes okay, Chugga.
good luck, chugga!
I don't kill spiders unless they have tasted human meat.
hahahah, sprite!
;)
And now I must depart to get things done. I'll check the log later to see if others have been inspired by the music they might have recorded. I'm depending on you, sprite! Bye for now.
fireflies
bye Haz
We have beautiful spiders here, probably the same ones you have sprite: tiny white ones in the garden and multi-colors, striped and spotted ones (large) that make elaborate webs outside
Congrats Sprite
bye Haz, will gladly contribute to your list
(And well done sprite!) *gone*
lynxx have you ever seen one of the dreaded Australian funnel spiders? How common are they?
the remedy of arachnophobia is to rid my house of them and to NOT let the ones inside my home live
I'm only afraid of the poisonous ones and the only ones in Europe are black widows, and they're mostly in Sicily
paranoia has settled in. it will be a miracle if i fall asleep tonight.
where are you chugga?
winnipeg manitoba
I have never seen one Ruby, more common in Syney. We just have the lovely large huntsmen usually
no poisonous ones, there, I think phone
BBL dinner smells like it is ready
bye lyn, enjoy xxx
Haz: Unchained melody / Nelson Mandela
great balls of fire, the space shuttle challenger crew. there, bad taste award of the day!
lollllll
ata: thank you, I think I have found good stuff from two of those sites!!! And I think I was many millions of years off on our sea fan!
I did wonder over the 15 million ...
I think it's more like 150 million but since it's on the wall, I can't read the paperwork attached to the back!
Hi
black on black rock does not sound like 15 million years old
it is a magnificent specimen, high relief and in very good condition
hi herin
hello herin
howdy
hey lady
ata gave me websites for fossils for DH's birthday present
it was very expensive, but I was still employed at the time and used to buy him lavish gifts
now, not working, it's very tricky to find him affordable gifts
Gifts shouldn't have to be afforable just thoughtful
I gave it to him one Christmas as a total surprise and had it wrapped and under the tree. He thought it was a tombstone!
yes, I agree, but it's hard to be creative here
and nobody likes my knitting! llol
he'll be 85 on 30 September and is very depressed!
now I have to go and fix him a Campari
*poof*
am poofing too, bye all!
LOves sprite
Hello, All :-)
Hi zoom
Phantom : Sonic
ok, 61 left..time for a tea break :-)
thats better, fresh eyes & i find 6 words straight away.
Hi Zoom
Hi Herin :-)
How you?
I`m ok thanks, how about yourself this evening?
About to go to bed soon
Hope it is nice warm & cosy for you :-)
No but it will be when i nest in it
i use hot water bottles when it is too chilly.
oh nothing beter than a hot water bottle on a wintery night.
Hello, FM :-)
Hi zooz and herin :)
Hi FM
I am watching the Real Hustle. Gawd people are so stupid
weson
I would not thank you for an electric blanket but a hot water bottle just to take the feet up to a nice temp is lovely.
good morning everyone
sorry, monkeying.
Nah don't like either really
HI Eva
Hello, Eva :-)
cats make good foot warmers too until they bite toes
Good morning Eva, haven't seen you for ages! How are you and Merp?
we're okay. how are you?
Doing fine too.
That is good to hear Eva
suddenly it's very much fall here. Which is my favorite time of year despite the impending winter.
Yes feels like autumn here to Eva.
It is a grey and dingy day here but still quite mild but the wind is picking up.
The raain is supposed to be on its way too :-(
Merp had a funny spell a couple of weeks ago-seemed like he had been possessed or had senile dementia. Would be sitting quietly and suddenly begin growling that very low growl as if something were attacking him. Then it would be over. Also attacked my arm during the night and really bit hard. Made an appt with the vet, and of course a few hours before the appt it was clear he was fine. He had killed and eaten something rather large two days before this began.
bcoming a li4 it seems..lol

Hello, Jean :-)
Hello, Norma :-)
Hi Esprit and Norma.
Hello zooz and everyone else
seems to be just fine. I keep wondering whether something got stuck-a bone or something, that would create pain. Being attacked by a large cat in the dark who won't let go is rather frightening.

hahah mousie!
Windy & trying to rain at the moment, Ruby
I never finish, zzoozz but as long as I pass half, I'm OK with that
thats a good attitude to have Ruby :-)
I don't see the point of listing, I glean what I can from my little brain and the chog.
but I think we all have different goals. The chat is just as important as the game for me and the good fellowship in here is splendid
Yes , i agree, love watching the chat, & chipping in at times..lol
actually, it's often very informative
today ata gave me some online sources for buying fossils for husband's birthday. How great is that?
ooh, whats the address Ruby?
they're in the UK: charmouthfossils.com/#products_for_sal e, fossilsdirect.co.uk/ and fossilfarm.co.uk -- all of course stating with http etc
thanks, *looking*

thought for the day....
A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him. Moral of the story: 1. Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy 2. Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend 3. And when you’re in deep shit, it’s best to keep your mouth shut!
How true Crossy :-)
dr_g is bouncing from tiny grids with big teeth to jumbo monster grids..gonna have to have a chat with that boy:/
i must admit, i enjoy the larger grids :-)
i like them best from 150-250
And fireworks for me.
And fireworks for me.
hiccups :-)
yaa for zooz!
Congrats, zooz!
I must say, the hi7 has left me gape-mouthed - it will be hard for anything to astonish me more today!
can you toss me a small clue for the hi 7?
male & you
lol
he did it hi* own s***
not a very good clue really
Nice clue Helen :-)
Take out the own and pull the two ends together, and gape!
ty zooz
and helen
My icon is yesterday's gape: this logo actually appeared on the recruiting website for Drake University, which is, or at least was, actually pretty good!
I see George Michael has been sent to jail for driving whilst taken drugs.
Universities really astound me.it is like somewhere there is a world where people can afford that or go 50 grand in debt and spend the first 10 years of their adult working carear paying it off.my brother got a b.a or m.b.a in english, and now 20 years later i do not think he has ever used it in a real life application lol
the fee for universities here in the UK, are around £7000 so i here.
now a college degree i can understand.spend 2 years learn a job skill, get out and work
and it is what zooz? 4 years? five?
depends on what they wnat to do, i am sure it is on average of five years
so,thirty thousand pounds,almost 50 grand cad
and like you say, wouldtake a long time to pay off, with interest too.
took my brother 8 years with him and the wife working full time
Did he think it was worth the investment?
not at all,it never came into practical use,his wifes degree on the other hand was in nursing...
priceless
the U.S hospitals were fighting over her when she got her degree
I must confess, although people here would already know, i am not very bright..i left school , got a low paid job..but saved very hard, paid for my house& now have savings..always wondered , what if i had went to university.
good for her Crossy, it is nice when it all works out.
i did not have the attention span for being a professional student
LOL, same here, i would say..they just did not make teaching exciting when i went.
and sadly it seems to be who you know that opens doors and not what you know in many cases
is that so?...not in the know..thats shocking really.
ok time to make lunch, take care Crossy :-)
i have lost several openings in govt run jobs, simply because they placed it in the paper(usually the topeka times or some other obscure rag to satisfy thoer legal obligatin, then give the job to a family member lol
tc zooz
Lunch? You're on a late timetable today!
Good morning/afternoon all.
howdy haz
Hello, Haz, yes was at the hospital again today, so meal times are well behind.
That is sad Crossy.
Ah, that explains it. Are you making progress with your leg?
Hello crossy.
what,s wrong with the leg zooz?is that the one you over extended?
or am i thinking of another babbler
keep having blood checks, have to inject myself & take walferin tabs.
I think he had a clot in it if I remember correctly.
i have a blood clot Crossy.
clots can be very dangerous
Jacula fell, Ata slipped, don't remember who over-extended. I've failed in my medical knowledge of all babblers.
still do, Haz..yes Crossy they can be if they travel to the lungs :-(
you must be getting very regular monitoring
thats right Crossy, thats why i have to keep going to the hospital, such a bind, but must me done.
LOL,Haz..we are accident prone, us babblers
Yes, do as you're bid! You know it makes sense....
indeed, that thing also has been happening to long haul flyers.i now here they have exercise programs onboard for some long flights
I don't think anybody should put babble down on any form for health insurance, you'd be denied cover for sure.
I do Haz, i still remember all the kind messages Babblers gave me,will not let you people down. :-)
ok hungry, thanks for the chat, Haz & Crossy :-)
I'm pleased, zooz.
Good to speak to you, zooz, take care.
afternoon babblers.
Hello, red.
Evening Haz and HI red.
Hello, everyone!
Vi!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello FM and VIcuna!!
How are you all?
(Two exclamation marks, that proves I'm pleased)
What a surprise :)
I'm really well, thanks. How are you and yours?
I will treasure that extra exclamation mark, Haz.
ditto what Haz said.
Yes, because with the way some people dole them out, they may just become extinct.
Splendid, splendid. TOG are back in school, so I am once again a woman of leisure.
oh shush Haz, the odd bit of exuberance is allowed.
Excellent. You can take up artistic adventures and bestow your presence upon us more often.
I know. I'll save one of FM's too, and start a captive breeding program.
You won't know what to do with yourself Vi :)
But FM - I did show exuberance. TWO exclamation marks.
lol yes that was quite over the top for you dear :)
I've been lurking more and more of late, but when I came on and saw HAZ AND FM... well, I couldn't possibly stay silent.
and we are v glad to see you too.
We'd have been offended if you had, Vi.
I know exactly what to do with myself, FM! =D I just started carving an overly ambitious block that ought to keep me plenty busy for a while.
A lot more people seem to lurk these days. Oh what is the subject of the new creation?
Sometimes it just gets overwhelming and I want the soothing concentration of finding words and not the sometimes stressful pressures of the chog.
Have you checked out my latest music releases (in profile, Vi)? I'm pleased with the topical nature of the George Michael offering.
Fireworks!! Thought I'd never find the oi7,8, trying kept me out of chat. Hello all!
It's an idea from TOG-girl: a fairy castle growing out of a tree. The biggest block I've ever done and chock full of details like tiny fairies and stuff. Probably will be a failure, but it's always funt o try.
Checking, Haz...
And have just looked at the time - Bye all! See you tomorrow.
Hello, helensgirl - congratulations!
Congrats helen
lol - you had way too much fun with that, Haz. (But Annie Oakley's song is "I shot the sheriff," by the way.)
You have added quite a few Haz. I haven't had a chance to enjoy thinking of any today apart from 'Go Now' by the Babble Collective, dedicated to all trolls.
Hello, yay, and bye to helens!
What have I put? Let me check...
Changing....
You wouldn't want to make Annie Oakley angry.
Definitely not!
not with her toting a gun and all.
gd evening everybody
Hello, ruby.
41 words to go -- sure! hahah
Evening ruby!
Hello, ruby!
I am going to have to put some light on soon, v autumnal today :(
It always troubled me that Annie (as played by Doris) was still going to talk about varmints, even when she was dressed up and ladylike.
We've had wind and rain and sunshine all in the past half hour, and yes, it's definitely getting colder.
I've never seen Doris play Annie. IS it like Audrey Hepburn screaming "Move yer bloomin' a****"?
It is worse actually Vi.
hello FM and Vicuna!
Yes, it doesn't quite work.
that's a funny idea about Doris Day
Ah, like that only not on purpose. Sounds bad.
btw Vi, the concept for the block sounds wonderful, I hope it works out.
Thanks for the encouragement, FM. The kids really liked the sketch, but I'm dubious about my ability to carve and print it well. But I'll report back when it's done.
oh do, would love to whatever the outcome is.
FYI, I still have the bracket yr daughter made me, hanging off a peg on the noticeboard on my desk :)
The thing is, you're the only one (okay the twins as well) who knows what you want it to be. Where you see faults, we would only see wonderment and creativity.
vi, the idea for your block sounds wonderful, but how do you make the tiny fairies? Isn't it really difficult to carve that finely?
Awww... =) She doesn't make bracelets much any more, but she still gets on a little kick again every once in a while.
Exactly Haz. An artist is his/her own worst critic.
It's why I so often cast my embroidery from me.
Yep, ruby, it'll be tough. I'm not sure I'll be able to. But it'll be an interesting challenge. I still want to see your stuff, ruby!
ROFL
I am totally overwhelmed at the moment, vi, drowning in paperwork!
That's true to a certain extent, Haz, but there are also times when everyone else can tell what it's meant to be... and that it doesn't look quite right! Yeah, you're way too hard on yourself with your embroidery talent, i know, Haz.
Im just gearing myself up to start doing my embroidery again, esp as I have the space to do the dying and leaving things to dry now.
you do your own dyeing FM? That is amazing
Oh, that's great, FM! Do you have an idea for the first thing you want to work on?
Haz's hemmings skills still need to be worked on though.
Don't forget to ask me when you come to difficult bits, FM. Or you could consult my masterpiece 'Advanced embroidery'
Haz's embroidery is so advanced that it's become conceptual.
mmm been toying with ideas of Wisteria on and off for ages. Did a great bit of work a few years back on the trunk and branches so may use that as a starting point.
Who needs to hem when there are alternatives? Sellotape, safety pins and seamstresses spring to mind.
lol Vi!
Don't forget the stapler Haz, very useful for hem emergencies.
Sounds lovely, FM!
I wonder if they still sew mail bags in prison?
If they do you'd better stay on the straight and narrow, Haz.
It's a deterrent like no other.
mail bags in prison, hahahah
Straight and narrow do not apply to Haz's sewing skills thats for sure.
lol
Big wonky stitches - that's me!
My head knows what it wants to accomplish but my fingers won't cooperate.
but in the kitchen the co-ordination is excellent!
And they're making needles smaller than ever - trying to get them threaded demands a lot of light, glasses on and tongue out in concentration.
Yeah, I'd happily do all your hemming if you'd do all my cooking.
Not a fair bargain!
get in the queue Vi.
Sigh.
I'd throw in laundry, too.
Im going to go as I need to shut windows as it is getting v window and a tad chillly. Lovely chatting if you are not here when I get back.
I'd like cooking just fine if I were a chef with sous-chefs to get all the ingredients and have them ready to go.
You too, FM.
Good to see you, FM, dear. Take care!
for nbt, pls, the top i and the bottom right e... I'm stuck

Hello, Sally.

Hello, Sally.
So they are. Scrub my advice, the talk of sewing has upset me!
Haven't had time to chat lately. Is everyone well? Did you have a nice holiday Haz? and how is Mr Ruby?
ty, most e's vanquished and nbt
Mr. Ruby is the same, slowly recovering
ty for asking
Poor Haz. No one mention se4/8.
Lovely holiday, thanks.
Where did you go?
our court date is 5 Nov and the dog is back at home!
We stayed in the Cotswolds, but visited Stratford and Oxford as well.
gd night everybody
Oh lovely Haz. Love the Cotswolds, and also Stratford.
Bye, ruby.
Goodnight, Ruby.
Ruby, good night. Will keep my fingers crossed for your court date.
hi all. I'm back to to finish my last 50
We really enjoyed it - interesting and relaxing at the same time.
Hello, Boobear.
Hello, Boo.
Sounds wonderful, Haz.
*poof*
Laughed at your sewing needle comment Haz. My mother had bad eyesight and only ever used a darning needle to sew. When I started "domestic science" at school I had to take in a needle from home, and the needlework teacher was horrified when I produced this enormous darning needle.
Your mother was a wise woman - why strain your eyes?
lol, Sally.
Hi everyone. I love it Sally!!!
I belong to the Haz school of sewing.
Domestic science teachers were a different breed.
Hello, again, redturtle.
My daughter's domestic science teacher objected to the way I had sewn on a label to her apron.
I recall that microwaves came out during my Home economics classes, the teacher would start the thing and then tell us all to "Move back"! to the far corner of the room...
Cheek!
rofl red
I remember hiding behind the door the first time I used a pressure cooker.
I got my own back. I was to attend an evening at the school shortly afterwards. I introduced myself to her as the mother who couldn't sew.
Hi all! Red, I remember the same from my dad when we got our first one. it was HUGE!
nice one Haz. I am sure it was on correctly!
Hello, ChampFit.
champ how is the foot?
It was on. It wasn't pretty, but it was on.
Hi Champ
Right, must go and get the family fed. Bye for now!
bye!
It itsn't a good idea to use orange thread on a white label, I've found.
Bye Haz.
Goodbye, Haz. Good to see you.
Well, that depends, Sally. It's a great idea if the main object is to be able to tell where you've already sewn. ;)
Good point Vicuna, but I don't usually have a problem. It's the dirty bit with lots of holes.
lol
I guess I'd better wander off and get back to work for a bit. Goodbye, all.
bye Vicuna. Have a good day at work.
I've been toying with the idea of learning to make quilts. I will need a sewing machine though. I have a few pregnant friends, and baby quilts luckily do not have to be big!!!
I think if I made a quilt it would have to be a very long pregnancy.
rth!!!!..i am same but i want to do mine by hand
Would it be easier to crochet or knit? No sewing machine...
i just tried trapunto....and i loved the results

the chat at the flip goes by so fast with so many throwing out word counts that I can't keep up and concentrate on the grid
i as well aloy..it is depressing watching gremlinn do any grid in under half an hour
what is trapunto?
what is trapunto?
its...quilting... but u make it so the design is raised by slitting the fabric in behind and stuffing it..then sewing it back up
yay.. trapunto is in the Scrabble Word List, so I will remember it , tyvm carlee

a puffy quilt sounds comforting and warm too
me5 12 rhymes with the type of jar u use for canning

Everyone having yummy meals.
semolina is almost in the grid...
i made the pizza dough yesterday..and then i had no kids for dinner...looks like same for tonight..but we will see
but the dough would not keep another day
Lots of things are not in this grid, red. I almost see great words. but ****ed again!
i did not have that problem...i almost never have phantoms
so..my one cat has trained me well...
if u have a water glass near the bed..she always drinks from it....she now has her OWN mug of water by the bed and she leaves mine alone...
lol, carlee...
pathetic isnt it...
Sounds like a good kitty, carlee :)
Hi, dc!
hey dc....
hi, jellen and carlee :)
ah, and hi, stidgmere

did you know that bob fo5 and gwen verdun were married, but she (silly thing) did not take his last name, but if she had, *I* would have a famous sounding name!
LOL gwen :)

Hi, jmc!
Its ok Carlee, I have 51 left just been kind of staring at it.. busy day...

What, what?
hi, jmc :)
Re: Gabaldon
( they are coming ot with a graphic novel..written by gabaldon... is outlander told from jamie's perspective)
There is a Le5 Road school near me. It used to be on Le5 Road, though today it faces a road other than its namesake.

yummy yummy lamb....
( yummy banana cream tarts..they turned out yummy)
though i've not eaten them in decades, lamb and goat were always favourites of mine
what type/style of banana creeme?
ohhh..goat... yummmmm screw the pizza i want goat curry
the easiest style as my chillins will inhale all 2 dozen in under 24 hours
ah, so a custardy one :)
just tart shells ( no name sweetened pastry shells frozen..un baked - i bake them)... cooked vanilla pudding from a box..add milk and simmer...and over ripe but not black ripe banans..sliced up
yummy
if they are just going to inhale them... i am NOt going to the trouble to be fussy
reasonable :)
i had my one...likely the only one i will get to have
hide yourse4 one?
have to stay chilled....hard to hide... its ok...not like they are hard..i can make again and again
:)
its funny the things kids like.....like my kids hate banoffee pie....i love it..and i get requests from their friends for it... but they hate it
silly chillins... not like banoffee pie... i mean how can ANYONE not like banoffee pie????
oooh, that sounds delicious! Somehow i've gone thus far w/out encountering one
oh my gawd seain..u cook..u love to cook..its sooo simple
yes, i just googled
so this Winter, after we move, i will have to make one
u wont "encounter' anywhere here in NA unless u go to a british pub
we have Irish, but not British, pubs around here
or a marks and spencer????
but not likely...
they are bloody marvelous
i am thinking i am so going to make one for thanksgiving dinner... and...some other pie..not sure what kind tho
SOMEONE SAID NANER CREAM TARTS....
Fireworks!
I believe my thanksgiving this year will feature apple, pecan, and pumpkin pies

Getting ready to go to a grief support group...a bit anxious...
who is running it Jellen? your church?
you will do fine jellen, there is nothing better than being with other who can relate to you in this
Another church in town...it's a national non-denominational program, though...
There will be a facilitator, and we'll watch a video...
Guess I'd best go now...need to get to the trolley stop, and they're not on a regular schedule...
Sounds like a great idea. I don't think we have anything like that here - but we are not as religious as the US it seems to me
Bye Jellen

I'm not feelin' this grid at all.
Hi, Kaplan!
Hi.
6 to go
go cos!!!
how much you got left kap?
Go, cosdem!
I'm not getting anyone's clues or easy words. How is oi8 a common word? Why can't I see anything today? I have 44 left- very halfhearted. No list yet.
i listed at 51 words left
i'm about to list with 46 to go
Hm.
grids have been tougher of late. Or is that just me?
Well, that's some perspective anyway. I am not that enthusiastic.
oh kap.. I was being facetious!
I think it must be you dc because grids are random.
today's grid started with about as many words as i had left when i quit yesterday's
the oi8 is a wacky weird word!
What did you say that is facetious? I am very dull today>
there is no def. for the oi word, anyone know what it means?
Ohhhhh.
:)
oi7/8 is a variant on an oe word
ancient greek honey wine apparently
whatever.
sounds good to me, dc
i dont know what it means and im real glad it was asked about here cause id have never found that one
it's oi4 with the alaskan 4/5 thrown in the middle!
Now it's time for me to go to a charity men vs. women basketball game...the women are favored...

Hello Minveryork. I am late with my icon but I liked the ladies in the First Wives Club
Congratulations Uneaixoise on fireworks! Way to go
I am too addicted to my damn computer.
Hello Kaplan the Magne! How are you?Welcome to grid
how long have you been here Kaplan?
It is not this computer I am addicted to, it is Babble!
I liked the ladies in the First Wives Club also Bugsaw.
can i get a clue for the hi7/44
please
it is very bad grammar shorty.
working on more of a clue.......
Hi everyone. Just coming on to work on the grid. See lots of dear friends.
hi7 compound pronoun

long day lbd?
working graves again. taking a toll on the ol' body
poor lbd. Take care of your health
hopefully this will be the last night. two days off and then back to day shift. of course i start teaching next week too, so there has to be some balance soon.
wow. yikes lbd
hello all
Now I totally confused. First I thot you were a teacher, then when we talked about the Babble meet I thot you worked at a big box store, but now you are doing both????
what do you do that you work the graveyard shift lbd?
the teaching is easy. basic computers and its a lot of hand holding. nothing strenous (sp)
I work at Borders books and i teach part time
I loved it when I worked at a bookstore but I gave them back all my paycheques buying the merchandise
Borders is open 24/7?
still, it sounds like a full plate
we dont' do graves that often, but we're so behind in getting stock out, that we have to do some overnights, while there are fewer distractions.
I get it. I used to work in a book warehouse and was responsible just for logging and putting away 9-5 m-f.
no 24/7! yikes, i'd be homocidal! just short handed, and poor time management.
25 to go for me.....
go MP!

I am like that with movies too..just b.c i like one moive in a gendre even with same actor...does not mean i like all those movies by that actor in same gendre

these are my fav's i hate the long ones that are just a test of endurance...
goodness, that's okay, carlee! I am glad you enjoyed solving today. my brain is rusty and cluttered today....
this is a cider from a local winery...
its called russet scrumpy
Distillery Lane Ciderworks opened up near here two weeks ago, i.e. got their license to sell the hard stuff. Russet Scrumpy sounds yummy.
it is...its a little sweeter ...as in maybe .5 on the sugar scale..they make cyser and ice cider as well and a drier hard cider...oh..they jst started making a pear cider too...they call it "peary"
this is twin pines apple orchard/ winery
I love peary -- pears are a fav fruit of mine
in Thedford?

*gasp* Richmond is letting us vote to change the Constitution of the Commonwealth to allow local governments to determine their own tax exemptions for those 65 and older!
some cider you got there...
that'd be one of precious few weakenings of our unitary government.
( dc... a bit of help here..i think river is getting wrong opinion of me here )
i think i'll follow carlee's lead and go get me another, too
sounds.....do you get to vote on our own tax exemptions over 65?
carlee is VERY much not the babble drunkard
hmmm ross perot would have fun with that one
river, in VA we vote on all constitutional changes after the change has passed the legislature twice.
actual question: Shall Section 6 of Article X of the Constitution of Virginia be amended to authorize legislation that will permit localities to establish their own income or financial worth limitations for purposes of granting property tax relief for homeowners not less than 65 years of age or permanently and totally disabled?
thank you dc ..river i will quite honestly tell u when i have had too much to drink..that... has happened all of 3 times in the last 15 years
hmmm, interesting.....
carlee - you need to let your hair down more sweetheart

i think i'll vote yes on that, as where i live things are MUCH more expensive than in the rest of the state.

Evening all.
May I please have a clue for eo5-10? Thanks
hi Ga
Hello again...taking a break between books...
Hi there, Nef.
eo + transgression
eo5/10 is a white blood cell; eo + a mortal ***
Thanks much, Jellen and Nef.
hi Jellen; how are you doing tonight?
yw, Ga
I'm fine, Nef...went to a charity basketball game...had fun...
Good!
eo5/10 is related to white blood cells, but it's actually a dye. eo5/10 + "ophil" is the white blood cell, named because it stains well with eo5/10.
(Didn't have to look any of that up! Read about blood cell types just a couple days ago, fresh in memory.)
I'm so used to a WBC diff that I forgot that, gremlin! I was thinking of eo***ophils
hehe
And with that, I need to go to bed (10 minutes after I said I would! 5:30 AM comes early in the AM
g'night!
