I get to be there regardless of being needed or not!
Oh how lucky for you. Do they know who is coming or will it be a surprise?
bye m9.
my student is doing fairly well, still getting back into the routine. This year our goals is 100% in classroom compared to 5% last year. Has a great teacher who expects him to stay in the room!
bye M9
Yes, they know who's coming---Baby girl--Paige Joelle
oooh nice.
I wish you all well in the birth and with your student. You have a great goal for him.
lovely name mc
Hi flosey!
Hi flosey!
(sorry about the hiccup but it is good to see you)
Hi bugsy, and guess you're back at school?
They had Joelle all picked out as that was the name of her daddy's sister who passed away before he was born. Took a while to find something to go with it. But they are pretty pleased.
I am back at school and have not been able to Babble much in the last week. Too tired.... :)
understandable Bugsy
best goal is that this year we ARE going to have him reading, finally! (11 yrs old at a preschool level)
just got back from a weekend in Victoria
Bugsy, was that deer on your front lawn?
I spent weekend with mommy to be hoping for baby to arrive on her own.....stubborn girl!
Yes. They come for my flowers
great pic bugs
I liked this one the best because it showed how comfortable he was, just daring me to shoo him away.
ah, here they come for hubby's squash, etc. they take a bite here and there!
just a nibble out of each one - grrrrr
they are daring aren't they---ours come after the apples but this year they were to high on the tree! They don't like my flowers much--wrong kind!
Veggies are fenced but they bite the heads off of the flowers and then spit them out if they don't like them.
one of our apple trees, usually heavily laden with fruit, is totally void of apples
sounds like rough veggies
half way. 777 points. night all.
You must tell us what flowers they don't eat mcurl. I am only going to replant the ones they ignore
I'd kennel them
ours are fenced too but not high enough for the big bucks
I'm thankful for the 5 I got this year normally we don't get any!
oleanders are safe
well, some people eat them but not me!
wouldn't that be nice ruru. Let me know how it works for you
thanks erda!
oleanders are poisonous
That's why they don't eat them!!
I don't plan to eat them ruru but thanks for the warning
I am off for now. Happy Babbling everyone

Good morning Babblers ... is there a list anywhere ??
Hello, Norma. Not as far as I know.
Gremilinn usually has one but I cant find him in the rankings
morning all
I am useless without Lickety lol
I don't know that he's been here yet. Give him five minutes once he shows up!
Good morning, sprite.
hi sprite
Morning sprite
Haz, great additions to your song list!
Thanks, sprite. The possibilities are endless, aren't they?
I have been kind of busy, but my mind has been playing with it anyway.
Do let me know if you come up with any more, won't you?
I will.
Hello everybody. :-)
Morning Soodle
hi Soodle :)
Hello, Soodle.
Tyrone Malone: paradise by the dashboard light
I had to google Tyrone Malone!
lol... then maybe it is not such a good one. He is a famous trucker though.
He sounds pretty Irish with a name like that.
Has anybody established whether a bad head cold causes word blindness? I am failing miserably with this grid.
I don't know where he was born. But I know he died because he fell asleep while driving.
Soodle, of course it do4. A bad head cold is like having cotton balls stuffed in your entire head, so no space for wordfinding brain cells.
Yes, a bad head cold is absolutely implicated in word blindness.
Thank you Haz. I knew there was a reason for my poor performance. (feels vindicated)
Marilyn Monroe: Blowin' in the wind
We've yet to find a way of persuading Dr-God to award extra points to replace those lost through various performance inhibitors.
who cares about points. How about being able to replay old puzzles or play the ones you missed later on?
There was I, thinking I had a cold, when its actually a performance inhibitor. That will sound so much better when i phone the boss with the news he will be Soodle-less today!
Haz I haven't got a head cold and I still can't find any words what is my excuse ;o)
Yes, saying you have a performance inhibiting upper respiratory tract infection sounds MUCH better.
Norma, no excuse needed. You can simply claim it is a very tough grid.
Your in sympathy with me, Norma. I will be generous in sharing my performance inhibitor.
Now, that is a more difficult one. Is the weather dull where you are? It's a well known performance wrecker.
Thank you Soodle ;-)
did you see my last song, Haz?
Weather is very dull, does that get the brain cells to seize up
Yes, I did - a play on the Candle in the wind?
Dull weather = dull brains.
Is it a tough grid sprite or am i just being thick ;-)
no, on her skirt blowing up
I was thinking of the scene in The 7 year itch....
Ah! That makes sense!
extremely tough, Norma, don't worry
I thought it was the most famous pose of Monroe... trying to keep her skirt down.
I can't find any six letter words, let alone 7 letter words so I don't believe there are any 9 and 10 letter words
Don't you worry, Norma, they're there.
I do see promising endings though, Norma
Take a good look at the grid and you will soon no6 some bigger words.
Thank you people I think I will go and get some breakfast perhaps the brain is starved of food lol
very important to feed the brain
That was a good clue Haz
Dull weather, lack of food = well-known performance inhibitors, se6 only to head colds.
Haz, you forgot the Babblers Anthem in your song list....the old BeeGees classic WORDS.
Keep the clues coming Haz
words.... don't come easy to me...
(Humming along in harmony....)
(Humming along in harmony....)
Well done, Soodle. The fog is shifting in your head.
That se6 can be made into 2 se7 by adding different vowels on the end.
Soodle - do you belong in the alto or soprano se7 of the choir?
I'm humming in se****s and thirds....(see double post)
Haz - given my performance inhibitor, I am down there with the men this morning..
I thought you were humming different harmonies
If l7 and l8 had an e in front, the voters would be queuing at the poll stations.
Good woman, Haz....Keep 'em coming :-)
I so want to put SE in front of those
Great clues Haz keep em coming
'Due to technical difficulties at the Mint, officials were forced to re6/21.'
And past tense re8.
And yesterday
all my troubles seemed so far away
Some say they blush, others claim to be of ro7 hue.
Oooo-ooooo-oooooo (more harmonies, Sprite)
The altos and sopranos were se9 in one area of the stage.
you have a wonderful singing voice, Soodle!
de 8 and 9 are sort of Lorena Bobbitt's claim to fame
Oh sprite....I'm going all ro7....
BabbleRabble - hello and good morning to you.
BabbleRabble! So good to see you. Have been thinking of you a lot, because I didn't see you in chat at all. How are you doing?
pr9 - past tense of pr7 - same structure save for one letter of a word meaning to look after, to nurture.
Hello BabbleRabble, how nice to see you :-)
I am not so well, but that is not so abnormal --- in an odd sense
I knew you were still babbling, we'd all realised you weren't feeling like contributing to chat.
used to feeling not so well, yeah. I really wish there was a way to break that 'habit' for you :)
Yes, why infect will ill-humor
with, that is
Oh BR that Lorena Bobbit clue was a classic ... I didn't know who she was until I Googled her very good clue lol
am very glad you are in chat now
Well, I'm glad you've spoken up today, BabbleRabble. It's like a clue feeding frenzy with this lot. They're claiming all sorts of impediments to finding words so just as well you're here to help them out.
fireworks
congrats, dart
wtg dart ********
Well done, dart! No performance inhibitors for you.
gratz dart
falling asleep at the keyboard inhibited somewhat
te8 - te plus reach what goes with gin in a drink or solfa in music by means of a consonant.
Excuses, excuses. Tiredness, cold in the head, hunger....
oo nice one!
I thought they were good excuses Haz lol
hey babblers, freakin awesome clues! got bab's bobbit and haz's continental plates
Great clues are they gort ....
innocent as ever I had trouble finding the de8 and 9, but now that I have, I love the clue
but you should see the non-words i tried to get bab's clue: reclip, denic, dedic, etc
te8 - plural of te7 - first three letters of the continental plate te8, add a chesty bird (three letters) wrap up with a vowel.
lol haz re chesty bird
It was the only thing I could think of to get the two ideas married together!
you did good
lol gort, and hi :)
heya sprite
thanks Haz, you are on a roll
And lastly, because I really need to get some other things done, you'll find that the biggest words build off the Art De4/6. Think extraction of flavours.
thinking hard, there haz, might blow a brain valve
You're welcome - I thought the performance inhibited deserved some help, but I'll bow out now. Enjoy the grid and I'll be back later to try to get some more.
or use BabbleRabble's clue for those biggies
Thanks Haz .... for clues .... must go get breakfast
bye Haz, have a good day
bye for now, Norma
Toodle-oo!
Bye all (poof)
Thanks Haz and BabbleRabble.
in8: in + a smell is an o*** + to behold
in7: drop last letter
thanks, sprite

thx Sprite, now have all 8's
Great picture of Terra

and hi ARB :)
Shalom everyone. Hi Sprite
and thank you Sprite
Hello, ARB
Hi BR
thanks ARB for listing the 7s, got them all now
I have all the c's. Should I list them?
not for me, I am looking for my last T
oh oh, I take it this is a hard one. Hello everyone!
ah there it is. Fireflies
hi lyn! xxx
Congrats Sprite!
YAY SPrite
Hello, lyn
Hello, lyn
Congrats, sprite
hi BabRab, v. good to see you
trying to make a list, but not getting that formula to work for me
=left(b1,2) the b1 stands for the cell
yeah that is what I have... then i drag down the formula cell, but nothing happens
are you doing control c and then control v ?
Oh YES! Someone PLEASE make a list!!
prod
sorry!
yes, I did that for the list, got words, letters and points in 3 columns. Inserted a column after the words. Formula in first cell of new column.
Sprite, you can send the complete list to my email address and I'll try to do it.
You must to control c and control v on that first formula cell and then drag down from the next row.
but I want to know what I am doing wrong... it says there is a mistake in my formula
oh ok!
And fireworks for me.
Congrats, zoozzoom
gratz and hi, zooz *hugs*
Yay, BR, how nice to see you :-)
Thanks ((Spritey))
YAY zoozzoom
Congrats Zooz!
Thanks ,ARB & Lynxxx
it keeps saying the formula is not valid
Love your ic4 ARB..LOL
love the design Zooz
thats the new isle of wight flag, lots are uparound here..lol
write exactly what you have in that cell here in the log
=left(B1,2)
looks good to me. what is in cell b1?
ae4/4 as a word
Just the 4 letter word or with the numbers as well?
no just the 4 letter word
time to do other things, take care all, be well BR.
bye zooz, have a good day
bye Zooz
And you also, zooz
Now I'm really curious. save the spreadsheet and send it to me as an attachment in an email. I want to see this. I spend my career debugging programs!
here is an epiphany. My Excel is dutch. Let me try Links in stead of Left
well that helps, but not enough. Am sending you the list, ARB
I have an excel in Hebrew -- but the formulas are done in english, so I figured the Dutch might not work.
yes I was expecting the same, and I think it should work. I got some help text when I used the dutch word Links, but the formula was still rejected.
I sent you the email with the .xls
wait I think I see something. The help text says it must be ; and not , between the B1 and the 2
yes that was it
Well done, sprite
Has anyone posted a list for today?
thank you :) A bit slow, but it worked! List is in my profile now.
How are you doing, sprite?
TY Sprite
am doing rather good, having some insights that should help me get a little better. Am 'practicing' a lot atm. Not easy, but worth it. And my father is 'cooperating' by being a pain in the butt, so I can practice where it should do the most good.
Good for you. It is so nice of your father.
*grin* Yes, isn't it.
yw lyn! Am glad I now know how to work the list in Excel.
How are the children?
aha -- that must be because of the difference in keyboards.
doing very well, BabbleRabble. Both in highschool now, Caya is very excited about it all and enjoys being able to study at last. She needed the challenge. She is still a bit timid, but getting stronger. Tim is moody and obnoxious, and he hates school, and thinks his parents are idiots. So very normal for a 14 yo. He is also a great boy
I think so too, Arb. I should have read the help text better as soon as I got the error message. Thanks for your help.
what a great Mum
BBL
bye lyn, and thanks ;)
be well, lyn. good to see you
@ Tim: and we can still reach him and work out an understanding. So I am happy with both of them and proud of the way they grow up.
I am glad they are doing well.
Tim will learn soon enough the yet is much to learn
there
thanks for asking, BabbleRabble. I am always a bit hesitant to ask you for details on how you are doing, because I know you don't often want to talk about it. But you know I really care.
and always will be
I certainly do ... all here have been so kind
yes he will, he is a good boy with a big heart (and a big mouth). He will learn.
Not much else to say but at times life is hard.
you belong with us, in a real Babble way, BabbleRabble. We miss you when you aren't chatting and we keep your place open until you feel comfortable to drop in again.
yes, life can be hard. A lot of pain to deal with and hard work to find some balance.
I can talk for hours about what I am thinking -- but nothing will change.
I am always interested in what you are thinking, but I understand about it not changing anything. Your insights have helped me often, though.
I still go to the mental health site to expond on how not to live your life.
which site is that?
expound
http://psychcentral.com/
There are over 100,000 members using the forums ... way too much hurt in the world.
then I can always go there to seek for some BabbleRabble wisdom :)
HI
g'day, herin
How you
peachy keen hubba hubba ... and you?
hi lady :)
Tired
it is a tough world to live in and not much understanding for those who don't fit in. Way too much hurt, indeed.
had your interview happened already, lady, or is it still to come?
Not yet Sprite. Wednesday. Just doing volunteer work today and tommorrow.
I got dirty and covered with fur
a lady rabbit :D
Yep my cats don't like me right now
well I do
I was just looking at the new Mc Donalds advert on tv I am then rather disturbed
why is that?
Because there is little kids singing and I hadn't heard the lyrics right till now
as in don't pay attention to adverts OR I haven't heard them
Ok so what is disturbing is this: LITTLE Kids are singing I knew it couldn't be just a one-night stand So I asked to see her next week and she told me I could (I asked to see her and she told me I could) Somethin' tells me I'm into something good ''
FIREWORDS!!!! thanx for the list Sprite...xxx (glad you learnt something new today...LOL)
lol! My pleasure, dizgrannie, and gratz! I learn something new in babble every day, grin.
Congrats, dizgrannie
I see, lady, quite an adult text for a kid
That's a song from the 60's by Herman's Hermits
goodnight/day all, see ya tomorrow...xxx
Lawyer yes it is but is it appropriate to use to advertise food and too use little kids
sorry, herin, but I see nothing wrong with it
bye dizgrannie
So you see nothing wrong with little kids singing about sleeping around? Sorry but I find the over sexualisation of young kids appalling and to use that line for a food advert is just soddy
I am off, am checking out the website. BabbleRabble, it was very nice to see you again in chat. All the best. Bye all!
Babble Rabble were did you go?
you can read something bad into anything, but I tend to look for the simpler side. a one night stand is a date for 1 night
right here.
be well, sprite... thanks
IMHO I don't think they read too much into the words, its a catchy tune.
Where I come from a one night stand is more than going to MacD for a burger ... and they set up a repeat performance
but they do say, "she danced close to me like I knew she would." Maybe that was dancing in the sheets. It's an innocent song.
And he did walk her home and she held his hand.....naughty, naughty, naughty. She actually held his hand...pure smut!
have your fun
The song actually encourages marriage & monogamy
She's the kind of girl who's not too shy Some how don't see how this has any thing to do with food
I never said that the song had anything to do with food. But, that, in and of itself, does not make it bad.
Most pop songs used in advertising have little to do with the products being pushed. Marketing is rather more subtle than that.
HI Ray
hi...
personally, I find most tv ads to be aimed at people with low IQ's. Remember, half the people in the world have a below-average IQ.
As I said I don't usually hear these things it was just something the wolf hearing heard tonigh
I see ... and the way you two go on ... I am sorry I do not meet your high intellectual standards .... I have my own opinion just the same ... and the ten and eleven and twelve year olds who hear the ad may be on the short side of the curb too.
odds are that those 10 & 11 year olds listen to pop music with lyrics much worse than poor Peter Noone. Well, I'd love to stay and continue, but time to get ready for wor. Have a great day....avoid commercials!
Have a good Monday Lawyer
you are so condescending .. .what prize
man my head hurts
I didn't notice anyone claiming "high intellectual standards". I thought I was expressing my opinion in the same way that you were Babble. Obviously, you're right to be concerned about the impact of modern marketing on the more vulnerable members of society, including young people. But this has been around for a very long time - see "The Hidden Persuaders" by Vance Packard for example (published in the 50's!)
I am done with you .. .go lecture someone else
personally, I find most tv ads to be aimed at people with low IQ's. Remember, half the people in the world have a below-average IQ.
Excuse me are you saying I have a below average IQ?
Well, that put everyone's gas at a peep! Any clues for the Z6, anyone?
lawyer said that at 5:54
how many ntoday please, hard to clue the ze but it's got a can at the end!!!
but of course half he people in the world have a below average IQ - and the other half have above avergae IQ - that is what average is all about
TY. DTins
TY DTins

Lady ;-)
If I find too many words - It'll stop me solving the next day until I mark the words I do find as NOT IN THE LIST
Clues are up
On a promise to do some paperwork for husband so had better go. Night all

hey lickety
Hey carleekat

Hey Nono
thanks for the link again lickety..how are you?
hi everyone
Lickety, hello!
Hi Annie
how wonderful, Lickety is here with clues
hi lickety
hi all especially lckety and br who i never seem to see anymore
I'm pretty good - but have to start work now - night job
hi jmc, nono, carlee, herin, lickety
oh...fun..not....where are you working now?
hi annie
hi annie
how long have you been working nites Lickety?
carlee - years now. Luckily from home
Wish I wasn't. But hey - got to.
Nono - yeah - I'm lucky, but unlucky ;-)
hmmm..i thought u worked outside now tho....or is that volunteer....
there are ups and downs to every job
Oh - I do many things - I'm a volunteer fire fighter
work a day job, night job, and I'm going to run for President in the football club
oh do be careful when your doing that volunteer job!
Hi Annie and Carlee and Nono
goodness how do you have time to do clues!
Yeah - lots of training. Lite some fires too - Hazard Reduction
rats br left the chog
that is what it was...oh..so crazy like me too..why is it we take on way more then we should...are we addicted to being over scheduled or something?...if we are not flying out the door there is something wrong? ( i aften ask myself)
jmcnrick - I'll let you in on a secret - I got clues going completely automated
training never stops i'm sure. It's so hazardous
Unless I mind too many words, or my computer shuts down
well even automated requires pushing a button i think! lol
Nono - such a great bunch of people in the Rural Fire Service, and it really does feel good to be able to volunteer - everyone is the same
I get to wear a fireman's uniform too ;-)
Sorry did someone say my name?
lady!
no but i will Hi Herin! *waves*
Lickety we live in an area covered by a volunteer fire dept. and I thank God everyday for them. They are truely angels
just..be careful lickety...when is "fireseason" there?
hi herin
i would think with the drought it is pretty much all year round now
Hey sorry my eyes are very stalk like tonight.
I found out something interesting about Alpacas today
did you have fun today with all the animals?
carleekat - fireseason is about to start, but we have had some rain this winter
it's been about 6 years here before a big fire around here
I did JM. I learnt that the Alpacas have dormant pregnancies like kangaroos if it gets too hot, like the Black saturday fires the pregnancy stretched out to 14months
( this grid stinks)
*quickly knocks on wood*
how interesting i never heard of that for kangaroos either
what is that quote about infinite variety?
Kangaroos have the ability to have one in one one and one out. that is One fertilized egg, one jelly bean joey and one out of the pouch
Jm Did you see my pics?
no where?
i don't think i will do this one as i am feeling a bit euphoric about seeing the first (12-week) scans of a new grandbaby - life is good and love to all
congratulations
congrats Sara
FB
O wow Sara
congrats sara!!!!!!
congratulations, sara
i will go look later herin i am looking forward to it
AND Cows are still stinky
lol some things never change!
I just got the 10 yah brain
cows arent bad..pigs are stinky
No really stinky and I had a farty dog on my lap today. Blessed little critter
i am so proud! nbt without reading or asking for a single clue!
ooh, clue, herin
cows and pigs never smelt so good!!
The little dog I had was a pound death row rescue
*waiting for herins clue*
oh well be like that :-P
i have to get some work done before i go to work so i am off! *waves*
:-) *poof*
later jmc
bye jmc
Got a story for ya
please tell
Over the last few years, we have been friends with a family that lives in the road adjoining ours
We looked after their dog for a few days once - a Jack Russell
His name is Remi - great dog - loved it. Very friendly
Anyway - over the last few weeks, Remi has been following us on the streets, hanging out at our house and our dog Vixie was on heat - so being very agitated
De 9 10
mrp asked the owners of Remi to try to keep him indoors (as is required by law)
the father of the family told mrp to go get it lost, run over it etc, the mother said we should get our dog desexed
Our dog is never roaming
so I got the dog put in the pound, expecting that it would be local and $20 to get out.
Ended up it cost the $760 to get out, and they had to drive 1.5 hours to get it because : 1) It wasn't registered, 2) It wasn't desexed and 3) It wasn't microchipped.
Whoops!
The husband runs a store in the local store
oh dear...so.....we are no longer on speaking terms with they neighbour?
And next day after a few heated phone calls etc, one of our car tires has been let down.
call police
Looks as if you will never watch Remi again..good riddance to them
Then we find out the dog has been nipping kids feet and it pissed on our front door and has almost caused car accidents
if nothing other then to start a point of reference
Clue please for pi 7/36
i can only say they would have been much better off had they just kept the dog confined as required by law would have been a lot cheaper
Yes I know - but it creates a world of tension. Their fault - but shows how no one else has the guts to do anything
people who let an animal roam are just asking for their animal to get hit
I even warned him before I called the pound
And we love that dogh
I am sure the tension must be high, but surely they will now look after the poor dog a bit better
Then he almost threatened us
I am so sorry I am so brain dead
again...call the police
And mrp went up to there place to talk, and she got screams to leave, and then a phone call that if show goes there again they will call the police.
Lickety is the dog microchipped?
Yes Nono - we haven't seen the dog on the street again - And they do need to learn
how rude of them!
Lady - no it wasn't, but I gave the owner notice I was doing it - and I told the pound their address.
pi7 - pi plus the ending of the one-glassed spectacle. (mo)
some people don't listen. It was going to go on and on - I had to use the laws that we have.
I tell you what that dog would go for a nice little walk to a non kill shelter and get rehoused
Hi Haz! thanks
Exactly! It deserves better carers.
Hello, Annie - good afternoon/evening all.
We would even take it on.
yes thanks haz! now if i could just spell it correctly :)
Hi Haz!
You're welcome, Nono - hello lickety.
Haz random question about cows
Okay.
Or anyone that can answer a question on Dairy cows
Form an orderly queue, people.
Are they naturally thin and sticky out bones on the rear end?
yes
It can depend on the breed.
And it can depend on the time of year.
Ok. I saw this pic of a dairy moo cow and it was all sticky bones on its butt. I don't know much about dairy cows but meat cows mmmm tasty. Thanks Mag
Jersey cattle, for instance are naturally quite dainty.
Ok. They just looked wrong thin but as I said I only have seen meat cows
And I just couldn't believe the size of these cows I saw today. I know they are big and all but these breeds were HUGE
I know, they're big.
I am really a lame city girl
good morning / afternoon / evening everyone
Morning ((Mom))
Lickety, so sorry about your troubles.
Hi ((Mom)))
{{Nono}} good morning
Hello, Mom.
{{Annie}} good morning, how was the museum?
Haz, good afternoon
Mom, fascinating. we had a good time.
hello everybody
oh I am so glad to hear that Annie
{{Ruby}} hello
Hi Mooooom
Hi Ruby, How are you and hubby?
((Herrrrrin)) hello
{{mom}}
husband is getting a little better, saw his cardiologist today (it's been a year since his heart attack) and he was fine. Just cranky and not looking forward to this b-day!
HI Ruby
when is his birthday...are you planning anything?
oh Ruby, glad he is getting better.
I am so sorry if I seem very all about me tonight
hello herin; you think you're a city girl hahah
Yup. Cows stinky bugs yucky etc
30 September;, he'll be 85 and I've gotten him some fossils (thanks Ata) and a book on fossils. It is also possible that my son will visit
O Ruby that is very sweet of you.
I saw lots of your dog on show today.
living here I've become a country girl (girl??? raofl!)
ruby, that is so nice
chows?
Yup. All fluufy
I thought about getting him a kitten, but it is too risky
do you like the breed, herin?
They are cute. fluffy and cute
Hi to all. For some reason I am not getting the list Lickety altho you wrote earlier that it was up. Nice time to thank you for your help. (I actually might have missed him since he was going to work.)
unfortunately, ours are not so well-groomed here. It was easy in Miami as the groomer picked them up in his air-conditioned van, but here they don't know how to groom chows.
can i get a clue for pr 7/36?
they're afraid of them
pr7 - in favour of a small religious offshoot?
Read Sprite had a list (I believe)
Hi Read-Knit-Bake
Good Morning all
Or, pr7 - same structure, save for one letter as a word meaning to look after, to nurture.
Boo! Good morning
great clue, Haz, ty
Right Need to go to bed I am hopeless and falling asleep
You're welcome, ruby.
pleasant dreams Herin
How is the grid this morning
you'll probably dream of chows and cows!
hello boo
thank you!
Hello, Boo. It's reasonable but needs a bit of work.
Hi Ruby and Haz
hello read etc!
what's that book, Eat Love Pray? or something. Now it's a new movie with Julia Roberts
thanks Haz, late with thanks, was on the phone
No problem, Annie.
Ruby too tired to think off anything really
I liked the movie, ruby
I think it was Eat, Pray, Love
hello hello, no no. It hasn't come to France yet; I've just read the review
was Julia wonderful?
time for me to scoot off here. Taking my mom to see her brother and his wife today
((Hugs)) to all of you
{{{mom}}
((Mom)) have a great day with your Mom
Julia was as good as ever. I have never been disappointed with any of her films
{{{Ruby}}}
bye bey ((Mom))
{{Annie}} thanks, we always have a great time. She is a hoot
{{Nono}} bye for now
best word so far on my own: te8/50
I thought it was a phnatom at first
ruby, clue please
my favorite word is co4
the motion of the plates in an earthquake
thanks ruby, will work on it
BTW, Annie, did you get the "Queens tornado"?
got the te8
it went right past my sister's house in Forest Hills knocking down many trees
ruby, yes, I cant believe it but we did...the sound of the wind was awesomely frightening
that's what she said! you don't expect that in NY
she was lucky, no damage, but half a block away, trees were blocking the road
ruby, I live in an apartment building on the 23rd floor and the lightening and thunder was not to be believed. They were trees down all over brooklyn but our immediate area was okay.
There
she was terrified
when I lived in Illionois, we had warnings and the sky turned green, but I never saw one. However, they are to be expected in the Midwest
Yes, I became frightened when it started. My friend was up from Florida and we were having dinner when it started. I commented on the sound of the wind and she kept saying stay away from the windows. SO of course I went over to watch the storm. The sky was almost black.
scary to be on a high floor, too!
I thought everything was going to fly off the terrace but the furniture and plants just moved around.
I love living up here...the sunrise, sunsets, storms are wonderful. The views of the city are great.
good morning, Annie - glad to hear you had no damage from that storm - I saw it also - incredible wind, but we did not have the tornado damage
in Forest Hills some people in apartments had windows break, car windows blew out, trees fell over and took sidewalks with them. She's sending me photos
which part of Brooklyn?
hi JBV
Brighton Beach
hello babblers... I am just outside of Oklahoma City and am positively TERRIFIED of tornadoes! my house has 2 storm shelters
hi ruby
hello lexo!
Hi JBV, lexo
I'm from South Louisiana and I'd rather get out of the way of a hurricane... tornadoes are fascinating to watch on TV, but horrifying when they get close enough that you have to dash into the shelter and wait it out
lexo, what I experienced in brooklyn was enough for me
it does make for the most intense reality programming I've ever seen tho!
hahah lexo
speaking of Louisiana, zideco is a phantom!
my hubby and I are completely glued to the TV in the spring when there are tornado warnings... can't sleep at all
lots of phantoms in this grid, like 'recondition'
Hi Annie
half! yay
clue for ce 6 please
ce6 - ce plus a short letter or a musical term.
Hi Boo
ce + play a no** on the piano
morning, all :-)
Hi Une!
Hi How are you? Mom and I were wondering how you weathered the storm last week. We were worried about you
bonjour, une!
Hello, Une.
Annie, how's the cleanup going?
any clue for the 10?
don't have it, ruby, sorry
de10 - if it began with con, it would refer to a mixture of flavours or elements. It's the plural of de9.
Boo, I dont want to bore everyone with my experience again...I spoke about it at 8:17 for a while
Boo, thanks for your concern
how could a tornado be boring????
Or, to the de4/6, add what a director shouts when he wants the cameras to roll - minus the first letter.
ok
The cleanup is coming along fine. People who could not get out of their homes were helped first.
tx haz!!
must run -- HAGD all! back tonite *poof*
You're welcome, Une - bye!
{{une}}
Good morning all
hello habes
bye Une
Hazel! thanks for the de 9 and 10
You're welcome, Annie.
Hello Habes
monkeys are lying on the floor panting, can't find them!
Wave a banana
Good morning folks
Good morning, Mr Bob.
hello Mr Bob
hello Mr. Bob
Hi Mr. Bob
I want to stay but I have to leave...feel torn..bye dear babblers
I'll have to come back later with fresh eyes
*poof*
{{annie}}
bye ruby
Bye Annie and ruby.
clue for ci 5/14
ci5/14 - a past tense.
oooo, watching aussie masterchef and they used the word "daikon"!
Do they shout as loudly on Aussie Masterchef as they do on the British version. 'COOKING DOESN'T COME ANY HARDER THAN THIS!'
yep1
Hi, I find some of your clues very difficult - not used to them yet and I cannot understand the 9 or 10 words - please help!
I can't find the ci 5/14
jiving - you can always use other resources like morewords or a2z to help find the words if the clues are difficult. (www.moreword.com or www.a2zwordfinder.com)
sorry, can#t help haven't started yet!
It's the past tense of ci4, Boo.
ty
Thanks Haz, I do use more words for the shorter really obscure words, but not usually for the longer words.
de9 is de6 plus a charged particle at the end. de6 is formed by adding an army bed/baby's bed minus a vowel to de4/6 (think of the Art De** movement)
I find them useful if I have a vague idea of what the word might be, but need help to get it exactly right.
ignore Haz, she gets commission from them
Only from morewords, a2z are holding out on me.
naughty a2z!
Found it!! them even! I love the chog, cheers me up no end. My husband has had a slight accident which will keep him in a chair for a few weeks and he is like a caged lion at the moment!
that sounds familiar!
Well done, jiving! Sorry to hear about your husband. I hope he recovers completely.
When you say a chair, is it just an ordinary chair or a wheelchair?
(Working out how much sympathy to dole out)
it could be a normal chair but still very painful
clue for co 6/24 please
That's true.
He can get around the house on crutches. He is a gardener and find being confined to the house absolute torture. He should make a complete recovery hopefully not too long ahead.
co6/24 - past tense of the co4 money.
that deserves a good amount of sympathy
I can imagine it's frustrating for him having to be indoors if he's used to being outside, never mind the annoyance of limited mobility. Oodles of sympathy!
Whereabouts in the world are you, Jiving? Can he be put outside in a chair to sit, or is it too cold?
He has broken a piece of bone off his knee and it has stuck somewhere it shouldn't. For the 1st time in 50 years (including when he had a heart attack) he asked to go to hospital because the pain was so bad.
Oh, poor man, it must be excruciating.
We live near Oxford - cold but warmer than yesterday.
ouch! I *know* how painful that is!
Oxford England.
So it's not really a kindness to make him sit outside.
I'm going to oxford this weekend ;)
Husband and I visited Oxford for a day on our little break across in England. It was lovely.
We live in a little village about 6 miles from the city, very pretty and very quiet.
lucky you!
I get to drive through there constantly from the M40 to the Cotswolds
Yes, there were no end of pretty villages on show.
oooo, Oxford, isn't that Inspector Morse's area?
yep
Indeed.
Gosh, I really liked him. Just watched one of the old episodes last evening
reos
oops
My brother-in-law worked for the Water Authority and made the rain for one of the Morse episodes
Now there's a claim to fame!
cooool
He had the most beautiful blue eyes....Morse, that is, not your brother in law
What colour are your brother-in-law's eyes?
I've never looked in his eyes!! but as my husband and all 4 of his brothers are very much alike I would think they are brown.
Jiving obviously hasn't paid any heed to his eyes at all...
It looks like it's a no contest with Morse's blue eyes in that case.
I'd contend that Paul Newman could win the contest of the blue eyed boys.
I'd agree there
Such a handsome man.
though I like grey eyes at the moment
I can't think of anybody with grey eyes. Who do you have in mind?
I like any eyes that sparkle, and crinkle at the edges when the face is smiling.
FM!!!!
Afternoon/morning all.
Hello, FM!
Hello stranger! Hi HAz!
there's a guy I know through the Tolkien people, and he has the most incredible grey eyes. and they really are grey. not blue not light blue. it's very odd
[
Must depart now, thanks for the chat & sympathy for my husband.
I don't hink I have every met anyone with grey eyes either.
Nice to see you, jiving and hope you get a fair share of patience to cope with the patient.
Bye Jenny
Are you all set for the exhibition Ata?
still madly painting :)
Blimey - how many pics have you done?

just a complicated one
1?!?! Can't wait to see a pic of that - it must be stunning.

... waits in anticipation.
It's wonderful.
ty :)
It's SO complicated.
it's gorgeous in real life
wow that is quite something, what size is it?
FM is speechless.
about 30cm diameter for the circle
It should be an elven shield.
So, a foot in old money.
Gosh Ata that must have taken you ages to do, so intricate. Yes Haz :)
yes Haz :) It did take a while!
Whts todays grid like? Yesterdays was such a gentle one.
It's not really gentle today.
hmmm OK, might pass then.
Fader.
?
she's calling you Darth Vader, she just can't spell it
LOL
You've found me out.
How's Hobbitella? Is she sporting a pirate's eye-patch?
hi, all. I just got a phone call...my new wheelchair is going to be delivered in an hour and a half.
she's a lot better, still squinting a tiny bit and having eyedrops, but the little brat thwacked me yesterday and ripped a big tear in my lip. nearly needed stitches!
so long as she isn't going 'Arrrr' Is she healing? Yay Angel!
ye gods you two are going through the wars down there - Kent is not a safe place.
The ungrateful wretch!
Hope my Sily is fine and unharmed?
Sily's fine :)
good :)
she's a little monster!
and is the glittery one all well and dandy too Haz?
She's fine - out for a walk with husband (he's still off on holiday).
but she is such a beguiling and beautiful monster Ata.
Angelsong - thats great - have you been waiting a long time?
absolutely :D
she sprayed gold paint all over a painting for a friend yesterday!
Mr H seems to have been on hols for ages! Hope you have had him doing jobs around the place and keeping him busy.
How did she manage that Ata?
Hi River.
Hello Everyone
by springboarding off my laptop into the paint palette and sending it flying
Right, better go and bring the laundry in - it's starting to spit (what's new?) See you again!
bye dear!
Byee Haz

and my eye balls hurt... my face feels like it is going to blow right off..my head hurts..i am super tired...and i do not have a faver..i wish i had a fever..then ur allowed to do nothing
i am 2 hours cdn side...1 hour us side from windsor
sounds like something is sweeping across the great white north, that sounds exactly like what i have
you got some antihistamines, carlee?
fever* even
could be sinus overload
i've been taking but for me...they keep me awake....even the ones that are reg.... not the non drowsy... and as long as i am sleeping ( which i did today until 11 am ) i rather not take...i rather sleep through this shit
tech-dude is here, bye!!
so why in toronto atm josh?...where u normally
was up here for TIFF - girlfriend lives here, i live in the states currently
tiff?
toronto film fest
ohhh.... ok... cool...did you enjoy it?
( if u said tff i would have known..the i in there threw me)
do candanians allow interbreeding with americans?
the i stands for international
i did enjoy it - saw some great films, plenty of celebrities, and caught what's known as the "festival cold"
why would we not ruru...
i can't speak for candanians but as long as you pass a few strenuous acceptable mate benchmarks, you're good to go in canadia
hmmm...when it first started was just tff...they added the international a few years ago i think...cus i remember it as tff...unless i am just stupid on that...which could very well be
lol way to go Josh..lol
isn't it easier to get into Canada than US?
wondering what those mate benchmarks are
i think it is about the same flosey... a friend of mine works security at the airport...
we've just taken in another boatload
on west coast
( know who our prime minister is...like hockey..drink cdn beer... know how to get the polar bear running in the middle of the night so we dont lose power )
the key is chocolates, ruru
josh...while u are here..u should try a day trip into stratford beofre the festival closes....christopher plummer is leading in the tempest..lovely town..and if u like chocolate..a stop at rheo thompson is a must
if you mean immigrate the answer is no
nice - caught some good drama in niagara-on-the-lake for the shaw festival a couple of years back
i took my daughter to music man a couple of years ago... her first "live" performance...and one actrees she had seen in a movie so she thought that was pretty cool too...( she was 12)
Help on the pi7,36 please? PLEASE??
it's a card game Erda
oh -- many thanks!
pi+ the ending for a single lens seeing instrument

to prove is the 7 and the 8 is a person who approves
to approve is the 7*
Finally! Thanks ChuggaBOOM!
If you finish Chugga, I'm online at Cobra.
afternoon all. Bit late today.
afternoon all. Bit late today.
it stuck on two of the last cos: the 6 and 5 that follow the 5/12s. Stymied, actually
Jayk - if you look at the point values, you'll see they need to use a high point tile.
The first co5/22 looks like a plural, the next sounds like a comforting warm word and the co6/36 is its plural.
Ah ha Haz! I see now what I did. I counted off the LAST 2 when those were the ones I actually had. She said a bit incoherently
Yes.
So, does that mean you've got them?
No. Oddly, I'm now back to square one. It IS the 2 directly after the 2 5/12s that I need.
The co6 - female undergarment?
And then co5 after it, remove one letter from the inch-reducing garment.
I am an IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!
I wouldn't go that far...
Misguided, perhaps.
B L I N D
It happens to all of us. Okay, most of us.
This game does things to you. I remember arguing with myself that there was so such word as so up (which is how I was pronouncing it to myself) - soup.
It does NOT, however, happen to you. One day I will see them ALL. Maybe
That's priceless!! Yes, I've done that!
how many words today?
Oh, it happens to me, Jayk, I just don't tell anyone!
192, Ouwachita.
thanks Haz
got 190
You're welcome - you're almost there!
Good to know. You're prtty much my role model
i need the last do 4/5
Oh, Jayk, that's so flattering. I love this game, I just like that other people enjoy playing it as well.
do4/5 - a word that can mean to have excessive affection for someone, or to be slightly senile.
hmm thanks
ahh duhh lol got it
I thought you would.
thanks!
Haz--
No problem.
HaZ--do you know what happened with Nancy Boy? His trip? I now cannot locate his profile. Worrying
All I know is what was detailed on here. He went, his news did not go down well with all se7s of the family, he's come home, he's been busy.
I missed all that--I was in Paris. Oh dear.
Paris? With the Se5/10 flowing through. I'm sure you enjoyed it.
It was as ever completely lovely
It's fabulous, isn't it?
My favorite place on earth
Does it still smell of Gauloises and garlic?
Not so much the garlic, but lots of people still smoke. (Another reason I love Italy and France. People do not feel they need to stop you on the street and lecture you)
so I'm now waiting for a lecture
You'll have heard it all before!
Indeed! OK, time to go back to earning a living. Manana
A demain!
how can there be 11 on the right hand I? I can only find 1.
You'll get four from the word that means to provoke something like a riot.
I've got a lazy 4 and more so 5
ahah!!! ty
And there's an in6 - creepy crawly.
ty all :)
You're welcome.
I'm spending way too much time looking for eclectic and dialectic and erection
never mind denizen!
I know, I wanted denizen as well. No go. And no e word longer than four letters.
I want a lert
Hello...
Hello, Jellen.
How are you, Haz? It's unseasonably warm here.
I'm very well. We're heading towards autumn, I'm afraid, the temperatures are definitely cooling. Not that they ever reach any dramatic levels.
What about you?
I'm managing fairly well...my days are not entirely bleak...
Some days will be fine, other days will be awful.
I've greatly increased my civic/social activities, which is not difficult to do this time of year...
Be happy on the days that are good, on the hard days, allow yourself to be sad and mourn.
That's good - having company is helpful.
I think it can take a long time to become adjusted to a new life. You sound as though you're taking care of yourself well. That's good.
Yes, that is exactly what I am doing...uncovering a new way of life...
a little help with the de's??
Sorry, had to give water to a thirsty dog!
peg, do you have de4/6 ?
yes
You need to build on that for the longer words (de6, de9 and de10). de6 is de 4 plus an army bed/baby's bed, minus the vowel.
de9 adds the letters of a charged particle, and de10 is the plural.
de5/12 - to hold back, to influence against doing something.
The prisoner usually de6/21 being guilty of the crime.
an army bed?
Camp bed? Where a baby sleeps? Take out the vowel. Or think of ***ton wool.
thanks
sorry
You're welcome.
if you sell 8 things at sotheby's, could that be an oction?
I suppose so.
How are you?
i'm alright, thank you QotW
Hello, hurshy!
ah, how is jellen, there's a question
Jellen is okay...having more good days now...
not that i wouldn't also like to know how haz is doing :)
hey that's good to hear, jellen
I'm doing very well, thank you.
as i expected!
Thank you for the de's, Haz
name that proper noun! fine makers of chocolates
Lindt
You're welcome, Jellen.
ding ding ding!
oh dear, must be off to chiro, ttfn all!
Chiro? Take care!
I'll not say 'enjoy' but hope it's okay!
That's made me sit up straighter...
I'm still slouching away...
From what I can gather, people play babble sitting, slouching, lying down and all positions in between.
I'm frightfully comfortable slouching against the pillows on my bed, with my cats curled up beside me...
You're just trying to make me jealous. Me, sitting up straight with a dog snoring away in the background.
How so much noise can come from a small dog is beyond me.
My dog used to snore, as well as a couple of my previous cats...
She seems to snore more the older she gets. Ditto for my husband.
:-)
hi babies... the gang is on the way and i have to hurry
Hi, sammysmom
cklue please for the first in 6/21
hi jellen...
Hello, sammysmom. I hope the gang has no evil intentions.
in6/21 - to provoke, cause a riot for example.
in + **** your sources (in a report)
yes. they want to take my money playing tonk
tanks
I'm going to slip off now. Nice to talk to you, Jellen, and hope you keep well. Bye, sammysmom.
i think they hear my oven door from 20 miles away.. they invited themselves to supper.. and when i told them it wpould be baked chicken, mashed portaotes, fresh gren beans and sliced tomatoes form my garden and apple pie......... they said "" YUM YUM, HERE WE COME!!"
I think I shall slog through another few chapters of James' Portrait of a Lady. I'm enjoying the story, but I think he was paid by the word...
Goodbye, Haz...
Bye!
bye haz
I'd stay and clue for you, sammysmom, but I've barely dipped into the grid...
so k jellen, down to 42 and have 20 minutes
I might show up for dinner later, though...:-)

See you later!

Hello again...
hi jellen
I find myself needing a break after reading two chapters of my book...short attention span, I guess...
What's the book, jellen?
Portrait of a Lady by Henry James
Some of those classics are a bit hard...
I don't find it difficult to read, but a trifle difficult to digest, lol
I think that's what I mean, lol
8,9,10 words done!
I much prefer the elegant structure of a Jane Austen novel...
did anyone get my de9/10 clue? That's what I was given and I got it.
ty jill for the clue btw

Bye, rational

AARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH
Breathe, JMC....just breathe.....
knocked your coffee over the keyboard?
Speaking of which, did everyone have a fine "Talk like a Pirate Day" yesterday?
i told some one today i did not have a scintilla of patience left but i must have because i have not killed this man yet
broke the bourbon bottle?
{grabbing purse & car keys to get the to package store...}
not the man who must have the last word again?
no i am still dealing with the retired doctor who has all day to write lengthy emails and expects prompt response
well, jellen, I postad a pirate ic4 but was hardly on here at all -- son was visiting and we had lots to do.
pirate day was celebrated by my daughter who dressed up with a friend as pirates and went to a farmer's market in Baltimore, near her art school, MICA. She had a great time!
you have my deepest sympathies, jmc
he sent me nearly a dozen emails over the weekend with questions that needed a response (which I did not answer until Monday)
That sounds fun, Babs!
I have had 8 emails from him today about the wisdom of colored stationary!
hehe - that the man ai meant jmc, he sure knows how to press youyr buttons
cute babs!
good grief!
any hints for se 7's?
sorry about typos!
Oh my, jmc!
se7s are not firsts
fun for her and missing her lots this week...just getting used to empty nest!
the sad part is he really doesn't mean to press my buttons
se 7/32....the ticket told me what SE***** and row my se 4 was in
se 7, one and two = not first + vowel
they have vowels at the end and go offin different directions
I think he fancies you jmc
have that one car
and he and two others do not seem to get the concept that a $0 bank account requires some restraint in spending
no no lynxx trust me on this! lol
thanks jellen, thought I'd tried that.
what the heck is the ce6?
ce6 is $100 bill
ah thanks
or ce + a billet doux
yw :)
Thanks, jilli
oh clever jill!
phantom: coincide
actually ce6 is "a deep natural well or sinkhole, esp. in Central America, formed by the collapse of surface limestone that exposes ground water underneath, and sometimes used by the ancient Mayans for sacrificial offerings."
Lots of phantoms here...
how about te 7/32 ...similar beginning to te 8/50?
Yes, Babs
te 7= de****ive (Sherlock Holmes type) + Take a b*** out of crime
ty jell
38 left and I need a break -- back soon!
okay i am heading to deliver books for a public school and then home to my jack daniels
huh? don't get the crime part
if you see me again remind me not to check my email
Later, jilli...
OR take a b*** out of an apple
McGruff the dog cop says take a b*** out of crime
ty!
bye all
Later, jmc...
bye jmc

no thanks, haven't had breakfast yet
wow ... my chat didn't load, maybe for 20 minutes. thought i was here all by myself!
Hmm...might look in the cupboard for noodle soup for dinner...
<-- is reheating spaghetti sauce
Wish you were closer, kje...I think you might appreciate all the different sauces and spices Tim collected...
I'll leave you all to eat in peace....bye all
Bye, lynxxx!
letil, sausage, and kale - homemade in 30 minutes
bye lyn 1
mmmmm, i love kale soup
lentil
n still sticky - fill in to make sese as eeded
how do you make kale soup, welki?
needed
that lentil/sausage/kale soups sounds good -- be right over
two ways .. a lentil soup with kale in it OR a potato based soup with kale
Can you make a batch with no sausage?
Can you make a batch with no sausage?
I didn't mean to say that twice
lots and lots of kale .. almost as good for you, maybe better, than spinach, popeye :)
yes, but it gets a lot o flavor from the kielbasa
try chorizo sausage, kje .. that's how i got turned on to kale soup. in cape cod, at a place called Kaydee's (now closed)
Ah--put in ketchup.
Just kidding.
thanks! make most of my greens in a smoothie in the am. but would rather cook the kale. Did you ever make a kale salad by salting and massaging the kale?
I make it 1-2/month in the witer - easy and healthy
I have never massaged kale.
http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food /views/Lentil-Kale-and-Sausage-Soup-10 905
the vinegar at the end sets it - perfect
here, it's hard to find good kale or chard .. farmer's market, but they're closing soon
I'm lost on all the le's...maybe time to quit
Getting back to business-What do the 9 and 10 start with?
yessssss .. maybe a little vinegar or lemon (i learned about lemon in lentil soup when i was a kid working in a greek diner)
both 9 ad 10 starts with D
10 is plural of 9
any green works, just cook according to green thickness... could use kale, collards, dandelion, spinach, chard, etc
yum yum yum .. wish the other half ate soup, would make my life easier and more delicious
I only eat soup when there's lots of Stuff in it...
well, off to finish cooking ... later, folks!
But there is a Thai restaurant that serves Tom Kha Guy to die for...
this soup has lots of stuff in it - ot a fan of super brothy soups either
Who diesn't like soup??

There's one that rhymes with an equine
I'm pretty good George...you?
And another that's a math term co + *** the table for dinner
glad to hear it! yeah, about the same, ta!

Pini, featherbee and m9 aren't here?
they're not gonna like the play I just made in our online scrabble game, lol!
Don't think they're here...get a bunch of points?
yeah, after Pini already complained I'm killing them!
that's all right, she clobbered us last game!
I'm not a very good Scrabble player...lack strategic foresight...
oh yeah, well that comes with practice!
Me too Jellen. I am still learning to use the points on the board for a higher total
yeah, the more you play the better you get at it, if you make a conscious effort to do that--that's what I found anyhow!
how could i have missed the in6 - creepy crawlers
ti 6/24?
sounds a clock makes
I used to play on line with real people George and every time I got a 7 letter word or played something I was proud of, my opponent would just log off!
sorry peoples, I'm still here
Thanks, cos!

well yeah, Bugsaw -- think most people online are real human being, lol!

why are you sorry blueheron? I thought you went to talk to someone privately. You are always welcome here!!
love you jell and crossie

yeah, that's frustrating, Bugsaw--happens all the time that does, in scrabble and word racer!
folk just leave the game table if they're losing!
hey friends *looking around for hugs* hope all is well with you?
you too bugs
how's the grid?
Hi, stid!
STID! how goes school for you? I have not been here much lately to know
I don't think it's that bad, but I've been poking away at it a long time!
halo, stidmama!
oh bugs... *sigh* it goes. There are things I like, things I really don't like, and loads of despair that are only now being tempered by progress. I still HATE the actual master's program I am in. (wishing there were a stronger word for hate that is polite for mixed company)
I will take a few minutes to play then. sorry for the vent, thanks for "listening"
loathe....despise....?
how is your school year going?
abhor? detest?
loathe... despise... (of course, I am in a "room" with WORD WIZARDS!!!!) roflma

Well done, George!
sorry stid, got distracted by phone.
fw
ha! not with this grid -- only 62 found and stuck!
go george go!
YAY JELLEN!!!!! (((hugs)))
Guten Abend, babblers,Os Babb;eRabb;e still about? Je always has such good jokes, and I need one for aBirthday congratualtion project.
School is very weird for me this year. The stupid provincial government decided that every school in the whole province had to store its data on the same site. Obviously, there are gateway problems and every day is full of chaos.
guten morgen--bloody early morgen, Inge! ha!
it's okay bugs, I get easily distracted, too. will take a sleeping pill tonight -- almost fell asleep on the way to the school this morning, so MUST sleep more soundly tonight.
Hi, inge!
on the way? not while driving??
oh no, bugs! they haven't heard about the advantages of distributed networks???? *shakes head* state of washington has decided to consolidate all of the state gov't computer stuff as much as possible, and it seems like a really bad idea to me (thinking back to my time doing records retention and archiving)
Hi mama. Glad to see you on the chat. Just need to stop for a minute and start dinner cooking. I'll be back shrotly.
guten abend, sehr liebe inge! wie geht's?
I keep getting separated from the kids I would be able to do the most work with and I am getting fed up. The school administrators have a different philosophy than I do too and that could make for a long year. We will see. I am ever the optimist
I haven't seen BR in AGES, inge. I miss him. I miss you, too.
(((bugs hugs))) it's rough to be in that situation. But if anyone can do it, you can. And I know that when you are with the kids, they are getting just what they need.
Just like you will make it thru the Masters program and be there for the kids, stid
Hello Babblers.
thanks Bugs. I am too stubborn to quit, though I would like to I won't unless my family needs me. Nope. they'll have to carry me out feet first to get rid of me...
Hi, wht!
hey wht!

hi wht
I still do babblenand sudoku every day. My eyes are getting worse though.
Hello all!
Go, cos!

That is the spirit stid!
Hi, Scrabbler!
Go cos go!
Hey Scrabbler
I am glad you are still playing, if not chatting a lot, inge.
My youngest sister is visiting and we will start playing Scrabble soon, but I wanted to say hello to my Babble buddies!
Inge, I have missed you.
my own eyes have been giving me fits... I have the lettering BIG on my computer these days. But if I am careful, I no longer have the headaches that were plaguing me for so many years.
*waves at younger cousin*
Scrabbler, I really like book you recommended to me...
Great, Jellen. The daily devotional?
No, the Living through Personal Crisis...
YES!!! NBT!!!! that's my goal for today. will just chat for a few minutes now.
I like the devotional too, though. :-)
Oh, Anne Kaiser-Stearns--yes, highly recommended book!
better go. Gute Nacht, one and all
I'm in the midst of reading three other books now...
Gute Nacht, Freundin Inge.
re 6/18?
Goodbye, Inge
gute nacht, inge. be well.

I just received 4 used books today and have 3 more coming.
I was invited to join my SIL's book group...they were reading Portrait of a Lady...vowed to finish it...
another clue? lol
hi, back for real this time :)
Gail here recommended an author named Louise Penny, with a series of mysteries. I also bought some books on solitude. As I get older I require + enjoy solitude.

Hi, dc!
Hi Seain. Are you working now?
hey seain
Let me know which titles on solitude you like...I'd be interested in them...

Seain, hello m8, how's you??
hi, jellen, stid, scrabbs, George, cosdem, et al

hi Seain. I hope you are well
bye george...
congrats to cosdem.
bye George
today was a long day, stid
I'm watching Antiques Roadshow...the expert has pants on that look like black/white drapery material...
Is stidkid 1 having a rough time this year stid, or was it just a new day?
yes, and it's getting longer, seain. *sigh* BUT I have some lovely cappucino flavored "ice cream" that I will indulge in later...
Haha, Jellen.
bugs, it's a LONG story. was supposed to start the college classes today, but not sure he did... not going to go into details, or scrabs will need to prescribe sedatives to get my blood pressure down.
Stid, "This too shall pass."
anyway, I am feeling --- as if I have abandoned my family because it seems that when I don't take charge of details things are not put in place for anyone.
Oh, stid...(((hugs)))
thanks jellen.
We don't allow that in Canada but I was in my senior year in the USA and thot it was a terrific idea to let kids who were ready move on. He will discover college is like high school with less scolding.
But they must learn independence + responsibility too.
and I really am not "super mom" who can do this graduate level work AND take care of the details.
It has to be a learning experience for them too, stid.
{{{stid}}}
Don't beat yourself up stid. Remember, you don't want to be an enabler. Kids will often only do something when they know you won't
what he discovered last year was that he wasn't ready for the independence of college classes -- he needs more scaffolding than regular students, and didn't get what he needed in high school or in the transition last year.
You know, I've been thinking. The consequences need to fall on those who neglect the details--not those who are being responsible.
Perhaps this is a good learning experience for your boys.
Stid, I think that those "super moms" are mythological creatures.
oops. hello mother, you caught me whinging on again...
Actually wht, I was a super mom--in theory until I resigned.
yes, my mother "did it ALL" (and then some) -- I am a pretty poor excuse for a mother to be honest. But I do my best, and hope for better.
well said, stidgmere
My parents took care of too many details when I was growing up, I fear...still learning...
thanks Jellen. You just made my point much better than I did.
How does Martha Stewart do it? Investing, baking cakes, prison, baking cakes?
all I can say is, I was a pretty darn good admin assistant ... could handle multiple details and meet deadlines and ...
rofl mother!
and all color coordinated, too? *grin*
I need an admin. assistant!
She bakes the files into the cakes???
You KNOW that is not true, Stid. You are a great mom. Mothers always feel guilty + inadequate. But you must slowly let your sons assume more responsibility.
lol, stidgmere...
My monkeys are in good form tonight. They just found the pr7/9 when I was on the verge of asking for a clue.
There is no shame for stidkid to learn the hard way. If he declined assistance that he was offered, he will have to work harder to find new strategies for success but he is related to some wonderful people who are FULL of ideas and helpful strategies. It does not matter where they come from
Clues welki?
Let's face it, we are all pretty darn good people. We just keep picking ourselves up after we get down. That, is success.
I wish ... *sigh* I wish we actually lived IN town. I wish I were not commuting 4 hours a day (2 hrs each way) I wish things were straighforward, and and and...
Life is not easy nor fair. And grad school does have an end in sight.
pr7. A non-amateur cult???
success, mother? or just not knowing when we're beat? sometimes I feel as if I am throwing everything at the wall just hoping something -- anything -- will stick
all good wishes stid.
thanks wht
Do you have family meetings? You can discuss chores, responsibilities, concerns...
ty wht
Thinking about "cult."
no scrabs, those do not work in our family. I have to call the meetings, and I end up being the person who tries to make sure the agreements are met afterwards.
religious cult or religious ++++
they're a good idea, but the modeling has to happen in the earlier years and consistency needs to be the key.
TY, Bugsaw
ah, tom and the kiddo are home. I will be back with news in a moment.
family contract work better at this age stid. You just agree to stuff for a week or two at a time
anxiously awaiting news. . . .
Me to bugsaw. These are the things that bring gray hair.
I agree, Bugsaw. List responsibilities + expectations for each person in the family.
then make them sign that they agreed to it. I did them with my boys to stop fighting and arguing. It worked because we all knew what the other one needed to be happy and still get stuff sorted out and we only had to agree for a short time so it wasn't overwhelming
It's better for an adolescent to learn tough lessons while in HS, rather than in college.
Good, Bugsaw.
could not have been said better Scrabbler.
True, Scrabbler...
or at least while they are still at home
home can be a good place to land when things don't work as planned
I see both problems: underinvolved, self-absorbed parents that neglect their kids's needs, and "helicopter" parents that delay their kids' maturation into responsible adults.
how many?
192
192 words
back. kid is in two of the three classes he wanted, waitlisted for the third.
Good, stid!
YAY for stidkid!! two might be just enough
Good, Stid. But when will he know about the 3rd? When do classes begin?
Sounds promising, mama.
Is he a senior this year?
two would be enough. he needs to do well in the classes or he won't get the financial aid he will need for the 4 year college.
classes began today scrabs... he thought he was signed up and then we found out on Friday that he hadn't paid something and was dropped. *sigh*
my preference, given that he needs to learn how to use some new accommodations, is that he take the two classes and take the third another time.
OK, I am happy with 60 words. Sis wants to check her e-mail, then we will play Scrabble.
G'night, Scrabbler...have fun!
sweet dreams scrabs and scrab-sis
and fate made sure the right amount was made available to him without your interference. YAY for stidmama letting go!
I'm going to give shdy a call...haven't heard from her in a while...
I don't have a choice, bugs...
Good night scrabbler. You helped us this evening.
hope she's well, jellen
g'night scrabbs
oh, good idea jellen. *anxious mama look* I fear I am very out of the loop with her. I hope all is well.
that is what I mean stid. One of my hardest lessons was to stop trying to push the river and remember that it would flow best by itself.
or at least ... not ALL -- but to a level that is manageable
hi all
bugs -- are you on facebook?
hey carlee!
I mean, right now, not in general
how r u stiddy
No answer...
Hi, carlee!
Hi carlee. nice to see you on board.

Evenin babblers!
hi, EvaN
Hello EvaNadine are you just starting or coming back?
I love this phone if for no other reason than that I can chat while relaxing in the tub. ::grin::
Gmere: I was around earlier. Just winding down for the night.
We're going to have our dinner now--I need to fix some veggies. Have a good evening all.
njoy, stidgmere
sweet dreams Mother!
hey EvaN!
hey mcurl -- was raining buckets off and on all the way from home to TAcoma and back.
are you up in Federal Way?
Evenin stid. :)
wb, stid
::singin and dancin::
Can anybody find me somebody toooooooo loooooooove??
I really really like that green top and tan skirt combo in your flickr pics, EvaN!
and grumbling and mumbling, EvaN... the commute is NEVER improved by hard rainfall.
???? *wonders where EvaN's BF is*
Ahh, the pencil skirt? I like that combo too! I gotta get back into taking my daily photos -- the blog is fairly dead without them!
the commute is never improved by precipitation of any stripe!
striped precipitation is particularly bad.
Dear fiance is at soccer. I'm just relaxing in the tub before bedtime. :)
beautiful icon, EvaN
TMI... aren't you afraid the computer will fall in an ZAP! you?
indeed so, wht
I much prefer it in checks or plaids. :^)
LOL wht!
Thanky, dc. Don't remember how/where I found it, but I <3 it.
my mentor teacher kindly handed me a "how to dress" workshop flyer today... LOL
I guess "dowdy" isn't appropriate for teaching!
I am much too middle-aged to care about being fashionable I am afraid.
Heh, cellphone, stid. Carefully hung over side of tub, so if dropped will not land in tub.
I like floral precip, myself...
i like to look nice, and if i'm fashionable, bonus
ah... I see. very smart! I can babble-chat on my phone, too... but not play and chat. too tiny a screen for my eyes for that.
The blog helps me figure out my personal style and what cuts work well on my body. Its more a learning blog, but if I look good, all the better!
i cannot babble-chat on my phone, as i've not been able to figure out how to do a hard return.
I don't think I look bad... just... frumpy. rather like the queen mum would have looked when out for a constitutional, I think... if she had worn slacks.
I can enlarge the display on my phone. :)
I had lost all caring for fashion. Which is sad as I'm a mere 31. The blog helps hold me accountable for caring. Until I go near 2 months without posting a photo... :/
well... I posted my icon pic of my new jacket... does that count? LOL
fun jacket :)
Hate to chat-n-run, but I'm turning into a prune. Time to skidaddle. :)
sweet dreams, EvaN
thanks seain. It has BIG pockets to hold all my teacher requirements (glasses, pens, sticky notes, candy...) but the room I am in is so warm I don't wear it as much as I thought I would.
sweet dreams EvaN! nice to see you... looking forward to some more pics!
Night Eva. In fact Night all. Happy Babbling.
so Mother and I will use the same pattern to make a reversible vest. I LOVE the pockets...
sweet dreams wht
Gnite!
hi everyone
night, eva, night wht
and I am out also -- going to go ahead and upload a couple more things to this new computer... LBD!!! I almost missed you!
hi lbd
hi stiddy, hi bugs!
Nite wht and stidmama
have a good evening, stiddy. enjoy the new computer! i'm envious, as i'm having fits with mine right now.
DC are you still here?
hi, dawg, i am, back from laundry
thanks LBD -- it wasn't in the budget, but I really DID need the bigger screen. I can read for almost 2 hours sometimes now.
g'night stid
oh, what's up with the machine, dawg?
(((hugs all))) see you again in a few days! *poof*
what are heuristics? in relation to computers?
(((STIDDY)))
Heuristic is an adjective for experience-based techniques that help in problem solving, learning and discovery.
so, the art of problem-solving, in short.
a diagnostic said i was needing a heuristic repair...of course it wants me to download another program at a pretty pricy tune
which diagnostic said that? Windows can self-repair usually.
that's what i was thinking, but the program that was "needing" repair was IE...shoot, should have written it all down.
in that case, go to microsoft.com and download IE and reinstall it
back up your bookmarks first, in case, there is an option to export them to a file; you can import them again after reinstall if not there
ty, that's what i was thinking, but needed your expert advice.
no point in paying to fix a thing that can be had for free \
where do i go to find the option to export the bookmarks?
file -- import/export or similar -- it's been over a year since i used a windows machine
i'm pretty sure it's under File and not Bookmarks
found it, thanks!
yvw
will have to do the download tomorrow, too punchy to do it tonight.
you are my lifesaver, DC!
all good, and my pleasure :)
isn't he wonderful, lbd?
yes, he is, bugs!
brb
I have no idea how to do any of this stuff and Seain and Crossy keep us all in line
we do what we can, bugs :)
hello all, help with 2nd re6/18 pls
you do it well and it is much appreciated Seain. Hope you know that!
nm
hi peri
that was fireworks for me, going to bed, see you all later
congrats and g'night peri
would that employers were half so grateful
ain't that the truth, Seain. It really bothers me that you are still having to search for work
hi all. back for last 32. ugh. anyone have a clue for co 6 21, the first one from top of lickety co list.
