I'll not argue with that! All those programmes showing instant renovations just don't cut it when you're in the midst of doing it yourself.
I always seem to do the prep, not sure how/why that happens. Although I do remember my husbands efforts in our first house armed with a blow torch and scraper - scary...and to top it all off with a circular sander. Those circles always showed through. Maybe I think I can do a better job - certainly not faster though
I know what you mean about the blow torch! I remember my father using one and being convinced that the house was going to go on fire. Preparation takes far longer than you ever think it's going to but it is worth it in the end. Make sure you get your fair share of the glory at the end of the project!

Are the layers of paint ones that you administered or have you inherited them from previous occupiers of the house?
Inherited - problem was that the quick paint job they did to tart up the house for sale involved using water base paint over original oil on all the woodwork - including multi panelled glass doors. The slightest hit/scrap meant that it peeled off
So the proof is there - no preparation = bad job = lynxxx on her hands and knees getting things right.

the chat here is much better and more interesting. We all share more, much of it really interesting and helpful information
and the emotional support is a marvel; many of us need it from time to time
I like it that sometimes the chat is deep and meaningful, and another time it is funny or even hilarious. And I like it that by far most people are kind and caring here... and intelligent.

not precisely true bethn but i do pay out really good benefits and comparatively low salaries to my staff (when I have one)

we have to be careful here,if you owe revenue canada,they can actually go into you bank account and just take it

Which is actually interesting to me and something I wonder about -- how do other people do the puzzle. I go square by square starting at the left top, and then use lickety's list to go in alpha order to pick up what I missed. I think it is all the crosswords I used to do with my grandma that makes me a creature of habit that way.

then i go back to letting words jump out at me until i can stand it anymore and go to lickety which i go from top to bottom then bottom to top
I'm methodical in trying to get nbt, thereafter completely random, until I get halfway...
then i move on to tiles with more words.... and when i've gone aroudn them all and don't know anymore which word i've entered, that's when i use lickety, going alphabetically too

Carlee I have a 29 year old daughter with several disabilities. She does not speak nor have any other form of meaningful communication. I have never heard a word from her and yet I know everything about her by looking at her face and eyes. Sometimes we mothers miss so much when our children speak!

The social system here has broken down to the extent that nobody is taking responsibility. She is now left in the position of knowing that a child is in the gravest danger, but utterly incapable of doing anything to rectify the situation. Jeez..... Planet Earth, 2010?

This particular case hasn't even been categorised, so its not on any priority list, even though my sister knows that the most horrific things are happening

But I went through deep depression, and it was a tough time. And, as so many others have said before... she came back. They always do
carlee i did a big anti clutter of my house. i set a goal - put away 5 things a day. in no time all was organized and i actually found myself putting away more than 5 and looking forward to see what i could accomplish

when i first got married, i came from a family that was pretty much teetotal, but man did my dad love ketchup.. there was not a meal in our house without ketchup on the table. when i went grocery shopping for the first time after we came home from our honeymoon, i brought home NO BEER, and 10 bottles of KETCHUP. my husband was horrified
