Yes, it's in November I think. We had a vicious dog attack in Ballymena a fortnight ago. The dog was put down within days.

The poor man who was attacked has ended up having to have facial reconstruction. It was horrible.

It was a German Shepherd, attacked the man in a market place, it ran off, but the dog warden was able to track it down because lots of people had seen the attack. I won't go into details of the facial injuries but it was BAD.

The dog wardens are well used to dealing with fierce dogs but this one was in a different league. It had to be sedated even to get it into the vets.
I don't know if the owners have been traced but they'll face prosecution for having an out of control dog in a public place.
They say that once a dog has attacked you can never trust it again. Does your husband think that's true Haz?
Funnily enough I was asking him about the idea that once a dog has tasted blood, it's going to be hellbent on getting more, but he didn't seem to know!

I think if owners have allowed a dog to be out of control, then they're probably not going to be the ones who are going to do the work needed to rehabilitate.
The worst thing is if dogs get into a pack. Then all the civilising in the world seems to go by the board and they do things that their owners wouldn't dream possible.
It reminds me a bit of the parents with a delinquent child, who swear blind that the child has always been an angel!

Anyway, back to babble news. Carleekat's daughter has announced that she is going to live with her father. She is devastated.
How old is the daughter?
She's 14.
Carlee thinks she is doing it under emotional pressure from the father and wants to make him happy.
So can she do that legally? Here I think it has to be 16. But still devastating for carleekat.
Sounds very likely, daughters are usually close to their daddies no matter how awful the daddies.
I'm not sure how it works, Sally. I'd have thought 14 was young for making such a decision and assumed that a parent could overrule, but who knows?
