Hooray for jilli!

And that wa6 is "–noun -- (Archaic) . curse; vengeance." So I'm not in the least ashamed that I had to ask ofr a clue. Use wanion in a Sentence See images of wanion Search wanion on the Web --------------------------------- -------------------------------------- ---------
oops jilli?

G'night, flosey
I'm poofing too! (I'm such a follower... glad you weren't jumping off a bridge!)
Wait for me!
G'night, all!
goodnight Jellen
+
+ is not a word :)
Words have to be at least four letters long ;o)
The cat didn't know that :)
teach your cat better! (Train him/her/it to play Babble!)
The tw9/78 is such an appropriate Babble word, isn't it?
I thought the sq10/91 was as well !!
morning all. how many words today please
107, sandra
thanks
o.0 I have 93 and I haven't looked at Lickety's yet today
wtg, df .. it's a friendly little grid, isn't it?
I like this grid :o3
6 left! :oO (34 minutes in...)
now I feel like I'm looking for needles in a haystack >.>
morning all... looks like someone had some spare Ts!
Good morning, sprite. I agree, no shortage.
hi Haz. Is it stormy overthere?
It's been stormy for a couple of days but thankfully all is calm now.
Some power lines down etc, but all okay here.
ah good, I hope it will calm down here as well. Heavy storm and thunderstorms... good autumn weather.
Hopefully it'll move off soon. We have blue skies this morning.
carefully starts to look like it here... timid spots of blue braving the dark clouds now.
Hello Sprite & Haz. :-)
hey Soodle :)
Good morning, Soodle.
hello hello :)
It was a very wild night here last night (Weather wise, as opposed socially!).
Hello Ata
Hello, hello, hello!
hehehe Soodle :)
hi Ata *hug*
woot got the big biggies. Great babble words.
Let's hope nobody goes cross-eyed looking for the biggest word.
lol that was simultaneous, Haz
That ending is very useful.
I keep wanting to draw the N and G together for the -ing ending.
It would have been nice.
and here's Silverclaw come to "help"
awwwww hi Sily
and for once she's not interfering!
She'll be plotting.
that would be it
She'll lull you into a false sense of security and then POUNCE.
she never is. If monkeys can write Shakespeare when left alone long enough, cats surely can.
you know her so well ...
the person most against is the... right.
aha got the 9!
wtg Ata
Morning all
fireflies. Gentle grid. Hi FM :) Have fun all.
Good morning, FM.
Congrats spritey!
Congratulations, sprite - a lovely grid.
Morning Haz, Quite a different grid today, fast even with all those t's but have ground to a halt with 9 left.
It's surprisingly fast for a small grid.
good morning everybody
FM!
Good morning, ruby.
Love those biggies. Morning Ata and ruby.
jumping in.....
I never saw so many t's
enjoy it ruby
is the 10 related to the 9?
no
good, didn't think it could be!
In a convoluted kind of way - in terms of meaning rather than in letters used.
very tenuous.
But I think you could argue for it in a slightly off-kilter kind of way.
in a babble logic way, yes :)
Is she ever going to get it?
no lol!
we will feel the smugness radiating I would imagine.
Ata, put your glasses on, I think you may be suffering from double vision thanks to all those t letters.
I'm never very good at long words!
(If she doesn't get it after all these hints, I'm taking all smug away for a day)
unless they are to do with fish or fossils!
that's dfferent :)
Do you want the 1st 2 letters?
not yet
yes, please!
okey dokey
It's funny - husband has severe difficulties spelling normal words but can spell long diseases and medicines with ease.
close your eyes, ata!
I've given hints with the double vision thing.
this is much harder than the last few grids!
Hello all
It's not, ruby, it's an easy grid, honestly.
Good evening lynxxx.
Hello, lynxxx.
hello lynxx
You find us superlatively cross-eyed trying to get Ata to get the 10.
... and done. Short but sweet.
Well done, FM.
lol, I'm not even really looking for it, just keeping the concept in mind as I look at the grid!
congrats FM
Grats, FM!
I think I might need another cup of tea before the 10!
So, I can stop sending mental pictures of children in glasses with patches?
don't know about cross-eyed but you will need to get some of that snake venom stuff for your eyes wrinkles
Hi Dind, haven't seen you for ages.
well it might help ....
Haz, behave and stop teasing Ata.
hi Dindrane
Howdy!
I'm hoping that ruby might get the hints as well...
hello dindrane; I've never seen you before
I'm often here, but I usually don't have anything useful to say. :p
weren't those eye patches to correct 'lazy' eyes?
Gosh, if we need to say something useful, we'd all be struck dumb.
lol neither do we so do feel free to join in :)
pppfffttt and we do Dindrane?
Yes, lynxxx, but sometimes a lazy eye went along with having a you know what.
ohhhh
I had to wear glasses as a child to correct a slight lazy eye and a you know what. I was very diligent, did the exercises and it did get corrected. We used to laugh when we went to the eye hospital for check ups. You'd see mothers reaching into handbags, thrusting glasses at children and saying 'Here, put them on.' They must have thought the doctors were fools not to know that they hadn't been doing what they were told.
But I never had to wear a patch, just the glasses.
Is it the same regimen nowadays? though I don't remember seeing any eye patches lately
I didn't have to wear glasses for years, but am back to needing them for reading. People don't print books nearly clearly enough.
I don't know, lynxxx, I agree that I haven't seen many patched children for years.
I agree, Haz... seems like the cheap paper they use blurs the ink or something.
lol
the standard of printing has really gone downhill obviously
You're right, Dindrane. And those phone directories? Lethal.
nothing to do with being over 40 or anything....
Nothing, lynxx, nothing although the optician did murmur something about age. Cheek!
or labels on jars/tins/packets at the supermarket!
I really need an H in this grid...
You need a very long arm for reading packet instructions.
me, too, dind
sq10
She's had long enough.
bless you, haz!!!
lol I got it ages ago really, but I couldn't stop your fun .... :P
I was trying to read something printed the other day, v. small font on dark grey and navy blue backgrounds - I was sq***ing like crazy but it was useless
Anybody else strangling an imaginary Ata?
*grin*
phew now I tell my little tale - when I was a child our next door neighbour had a Siamese cat called sq5y 'cos he was cross eyed.
husband does the food shopping and refuses to wear reading glasses, ergo, frequently past-due dates.....
Some web pages are hard with fancy colours that 'dance'.
I don't believe Ata I think she is fibbing.
however, I don't say anything, as it's better than doing it myself or, worse, accompanying him
Good job it wasn't a Siamese person otherwise you'd be had up in front of the PC police.
*gasp*
said cat also loved grapes but they had to be peeled.
That was either a fussy cat or a mad owner.
I feel the same way about grapes; the skin is icky
a great combo of both Haz.
good job it wasn't a dog
was probably a cat in a former life.....
Never let mad owners near the internet. It's a surefire way of getting them to panic and ring the vet at midnight.
I feel a vet story coming on?
"Help! My hamster is sneezing!"
see you later, 67 words, "saving the rest", hahah
my snake won't eat!
well that is better than "Freddy Starr ate my hamster"
Bye ruby
answer: maybe you should peel his grapes"
Cat owner worried that cat has been sick. Cat owner goes on internet, sees that lilies are poisonous, recalls having lilies in the house a week ago - therefore my cat has been poisoned, can I make an appointment for 3.am?
is that when you load the rifle, haz?
3.a.m! good grief.
Owner reassured that the cat is not poisoned, owner still consults internet and even though cat is not being as sick as before insists that cat is seen again because the internet knows best.
lily poison takes less than a week to work!
I gently dissuaded the owner from thinking that you could have an appointment at 3 am.
Owner distraught even though cat is getting better because internet says that lilies are poisonous.
How diplomatic of you Haz
At least she wasn't blaming *you* for her cat being sick and was ready to take responsibility... (looking for bright side)
Did you not tell her that the afterhours rate is 250 pounds?
urf, I'm going back to bed for an hour. I'm absolutely exhausted for some reason!
She was a nice enough girl, just not to be persuaded that the cat had a tummy upset rather than a dose of poison.
It was all that effort looking for the 10 Ata ;)
Bye Ata
it's the transitional (awful) weather, ata
It's worn her out. Bye Ata!
and I am going to go and run errands as it is NOT raining!!! yay!
{{ata}}
and not sleeping very well last night .... and physio yesterday ...!
bbl!
It's a nice day here as well, FM. Comparatively, of course, it's got a bit colder but at least we won't get blown to the next county.
I'm off to try sleep again too! I have a teleconference in 4 hours where I have to be able to remember my own language.
Luck, all!
well I wouldn't go as far as nice but the wind and rain have gone for now. Bye Dind, see you again.
Bye, Dindrane - you were as useful as any of us!
bye Dindrane
Aww, thanks, Haz!
Toodles all.
BBL too, need to eat
Bye, FM, and I'm off as well. Things to do, houses to clean....
And the chat log fell silent once more.....

hello for a minute
my friend and I are trying to figure out where "cookies" would be in French as she knows how to elim
mmyto eliminate them from Windows, if we could find them
What browser do you use ruby?
ruby, what browser?
I think it's internet explorer, but I am a total compute illiterate
hi fm!
my friend thinks it's "options"
Go to Tools and then Internet options
welcome to the club, ruby! You and I!
Hey TO :)
but we can't find anything and it's all in French
{{annie}}
hello everyone this beautiful morning
hi annie
(((ruby)))
Hi Annie! and dfmc
HI Owl, still cleaning?
Good morning everyone!
Hi FM, did it stop galing where you are, or galeing or is it even a word?
(((Mom)) good morning
Hi Mom. It finally blew itself out last night thank goodness.
(((Annie)) good morning, and it is a beautiful day indeed
Hi FMitch
well annie...let's say i got up early to sort through my papers
hello mom!
Are any of you statistic/probability experts?
((TO)) good morning
... and then got sidetracked by the grid?
What are the chances that a random grid would come up with 25 of the same letter?
Or only vowels?
Who gave Dr_G the leftover T's?
I was once playing scrabble with a friend named Deborah, and the first letters I randomly picked were- in this order-D-E-B-O-R-H-A
Is it possible to have a grid with NO words over 3 letters AT ALL?
Depends on how the grid is actually generated...
I think we got rid of the cookies!
Just wondering. Don't mind me.
I don't think so Kap, Dr_G has set some parameters.
That is wild about your Scrabble letters. No clue on the odds of a random grid being all the same letter.
You mean there is intelligent desigh?
Did you eat them all instead ruby ;)
I think that is spooky, your deborah story. Like a ouija board
Six T's is pretty lame though.
hahah, fm
Yeah, it was REALLY weird.
I made crepes this AM for crepes suzettes after dinner
But we do get a lot of use out of them all Molly.
*Hurrying over to Ruby's house*
Especially as I chose them one by one and just watched it come together as her name
yum yum ruby!
plenty for everybody!! specialite de la maison!
morning
hello carlee
time to finish up this mess - bye all happy babbling
hi carlee
((Carlee)) good morning
Bye for now TO and Hi carlee.

bye bye ((TO)) have a good day
Owl, sorting papers is hard work...good for you
Howdy Carlee
bye TO
how is everyone here?
Fine.
No complaints.
ahhh..i see my hated ti word in the grid
good good
Is the 10 a compound word?
poor carlee; unfortunately, it is in here often!
Yep Carlee. And another crude t4 as well.
there is a 10????
The ten is not a compound
no, kalan, the superlative of an sq6
Yeah, one.
kaplan, that it*
nor is the 9 and neither are related
time for me to scoot off here. Have a good day everyone. ((Hugs))
I don't have the9
thanks ruby for the 10
{{mom}}
(((Mom))) Have a good Friday
OK I got it.
tw 9/78
((Ruby)), ((Molly)) enjoy you day
Same ending
ty for the 9, mom
good morning my dear babble friends
bye (((Mom))) have an easy day
{{trif}}
how are you doing?
Carlee, just be glad that ti6 isn't in the grid. I hate that one even more than ti4.
I over did it a bit yesterday ruby, so a few sore muscles here and **ooof** there, but other than that, just fine
Hi Trif
I don't like either one but in lexulous, there are worse!!!!
how are you doing, rubty? and hello annie!
plus racist perjoratives
LOL when I first typed that, I left off the O in hello---ooops!
it is definitely November, my least favorite month
why don't you like november, ruby?
I HATE November of all the months!
'cos the clocks go back, it's cold and grey and all you want to do is hibernate.
worst weather, no leaves, cold and rain but no pretty snow and MUD!
is it because of thanksgiving.....
It gets darker and darker, my birthday is on Thanksgiving, there's nothing pretty...
and Hi Trif!
thank you Kaplan!!!!
but the clocks going back gives an extra hour of sleep = yay!
{{kaplan}}
why do you hate November, Kap and ruby?
I agree with ruby 100%
See below.
andThanksgiving is no longer fun
November has nothing to recommend it.
except Kaplan's birthday!
oh, c'est dommage, ruby! here in boston november is SO beautiful! Foliage is gorgeous, weather is crisp but not cold yet, and turkey....plus the extra hour of sleep.
ok...so...all ur clues are going in the eyes and out the...something or other...not able to focus..period...need more coffee
I'm in Boston. Foliage is gone.
(btw, husband's family name was Kaplan before he changed it! hahah)
And it's been cold.
i hate fall and winter....fall is the messenger...i believe in shooting the messenger
foliage all came down in the past week. Before that, it was gorgeous
It's my husband's family name. I never use it except here and on wordsplay.
we still have some here on the south shore, and there are lovely animals all around due to rutting season and such. I don't love winter, but I really do love fall
and with 2 dogs, the battle against muddy footprints is endless
get them some doggie wellingtons :)
If there's anything I can't stand, it's an autumnal optimist. :)
amen, carlee, I'm loading my gun
at least winter holds the promise of spring and once it gets cold and IF there is snow, there is less mud from the pups
I never really thought about it, but in thinking now, I am thinking March is my least favorite. winter has just gotten too long by then, and the days are bitter, everything is grey and dead, going anyway is a sludge, and there is nothing to be excited about. Primo's birthday, but that's it
i like st patricks day....all that green...like the precursor to spring...and u get that odd day that smells like spring...
when I lived in Binghamton NY, March was the murder and mayhem month. That was the time for murdering one's spouse or commiting suicide.
here, by March, flowers start and spring is very long
But March is on the upswing- it's getting lighter, there are buds on the trees, on some days you can smell spring, and you know there is just not that much snow left to dump on us...
i hate january...u take down the xmas tree....days are still short...xmas bills....
I am not surprised ruby. all those months cooped up. we all look pasty and undead in march
If March is here, can spring be far behind? The worst behind us, and all that...
In November it's just getting started.
and Binghamton had the worst weather imaginable -- barely a day of sunshine from Sept through Sept. Two seasons, snow and gnats
Yes, there is that, kaplan, but it's a long month and can sometimes just seem so endless
exactly...the home stretch...now i have 5 months of winter to look forward to
ruby, you made me laugh..my daughter went to SUNY Binghamton and I never experienced cold like that.
Scraping ice of the car, frozen locks, missing gloves, wind chill, black ice, unshoveled sidewalks...
well, yes. there is the tiniest bit of hope in march, I suppose. I am not good at waiting, so I dread march
I forgot about frozen locks, used to have to have somebody tie the car door shut when I went to work
I am NOT a cool/cold weather lover either. What's to like about short, cold days?
november for me has a lot of anticipation in it, and I do like that. when will it snow? here comes christmas! Thanksgiving! yay!
slush i ur boots...salt on ur car...salt in ur boots... high heating bills...all those layers....idiot snow drivers
Speaking of March, I gotta go. Bye!
Your daughter went to that SUNY Annie? In what years. My first husband taught history there
byebye kaps
bye kaplan. have a nice, warm day
bye Kaplan
I used to enjoy the holidays when I was a kid and all I had to do was show up for presents and dinner.
(poof)
and did I mention mud?
And frickin' freezing rain.
ruby, trying to figure it out..will ask her later...had to be in the 80's thought
I lived in Binghamton for many years, both married to first husband and then after
all the things that bother me about nature are gone in november - skeeters, snakes, blackflies, midges, hornets, all tucked away for winter
I stayed there until 1080
that was 1980* or so
Ruby, I was going to say...I didn't know you were an ancient. : D
ruby, I think she graduated in 1989 or 1990..have to ask
it was a good, safe place for a single mom to bring up her boy
I agree with Trif re: November..
I surely look like one.....
ruby, did you teach at Binghamton?
no, I taught art in the Binghamton City Schools
that battle of hastings must have been tough, ruby
husband taught at the university
saved my armor

Hi everyone. Grid and chat running very slow. Has someone got an over-large icon in their profile? That usually causes a problem.
very slow, especially in grid. I thought it was my server
I never change my icon
how are you, sally?
Ok. Having a quiet day and haven't been here long.
I thought this place automatically re-sized icons when they are uploaded? No?
allo molly
Sort of Molly, but if someone puts a huge one on without bothering to compress it or size it to something sensible, it slows down everything. If I find it I usually just ad-block that image (using Firefox).
(It isn't yours - I just checked!)
I had better go back to being a hostess.....
will save 22 for later (ho ho ho)
You still have guests ruby?
yes, joanne is here for 8 days

Cross - I'm trying to find TAZO in the stores now that 'bucks isn't carrying it anymore
lol sally
good too, tx annie :)
We have Earl Grey loose and brew pots in the evening
hard to find autumn
Do you have Whole Foods Crossy?
You could probably order it on line
been a long time since i have bought loose tea,not even sure if i still have that little silver tea ball....
I also have a rooibus earl grey that I enjoy
I use a coffee press for my loose tea. and no, it has never had coffee made in it :)
zzz, mornin' all.
don't care for roibos tea
Anyone here from Jersey? I just found out there is no self serve gas there. I can't remember the last time someone pumped my gas for me.
small islands thing... to create employement
I always get annoyed when I'm at a place that has hot water for tea and it's been used for coffee [which I don't drink] before
lol molly,my station is full serve we are one of ten left i know of,all are going self serve in this area
Jersey gas is cheaper too.
it's the same in the Reunion island (french island near mauritius)
i need a clue for the last ta 6/18
hm, alright then.
well, off to look for words.... have a great day!
take the ta4 from before, remmove the pl letter, doublel cons and add pl of -y
ta 6/18....to sew and neckwear
big oil goes self serve for 2 reasons, you get more cars through per hour and you can fire everyone but the4 guy sitting behind the counter
thank yoy

NB, you could never be invisible. Too much charisma.
Autumn Moon - just read your bio - I agree!
Hiya, NB!!!

Too much rainbow, more like ;)

I was lost in a sea of T's
bye aloyisius
hey all
hi stiddy
just wandering in for a few minutes before I decide to be a little responsible.
anyone like a clue before I head out?
felt SO good yesterday to NOT be responsible!
106 clues, annie? rofl
stid, glad you enjoyed being NOT responsible for a short while
:-D yep. very restorative.
stiddy, you deserve it
how are you annie?
youre in the gird, stid
stid, feeling much betttttter, thanks for asking
oh, hello Stid :)
Hi NB
glad you're better annie ((gentle hugs)) hey Nancy Boy!
hi, Annie :)
bye dear babblers
bye annie, have a lovely day!
you too stid *poof*
oh the TW 9 really is!
howdy stidmama;)))
hey cross! how's the snowshoeing going? *images of 10ft drifts and blowing snow*
Hi Stid and ruru!!!
not yet stidmama, the climate changes are felt here as well,we are still having amazing fall type days of 10c or so and have only had snow 3 times so far
hey autumn!
snow!! I can't wait until it snows here (please please please, snow gods)
right now it is bright and sunny 11c out;)
we are going to have a hard winter, at least they are predicting one -- but so far mostly mild, if a bit wetter than normal. I really want to get some work done in the yard this coming week in between the things for the dumb master's program
i shall call you when we get 4 feet of it nb
or the dumb things for the master's program
y'all know that snow is a 4-letter swear, right?
or the dumb things for the dumb... (you get the idea) *resentful mama look*
here it is our lifeblood autumn,we live and die buy the tourist dollar
where are you cross?
bah! tourists! bah! *resenting not having $ for being a tourist*
oh.... got the 10. but still have a couple tiles untouched.
i live in collingwood(blue mtn skiing) and my station is in wasaga beach(summer beach people)
after living in Ottawa for 4 of their worst winters, I decided that, after not being able to lift the shovel high enough to get the snow on the top of the pile, that it was a swear word
we are toronto,s playground/dumping ground :/ it is a love/hate thing
makes sense to me, autumn
so. that O in the upper left corner please, the T above the A in the fourth column?
I agree with Autumn. Snow is a four-letter word. Nasty cold stuff.
lol, when we cannot lift the shovel high enough, that when you break out the snow blower and launch it over the top;)
gets piled so high at intersections, you have to flash your lights and honk your horn cause you just cannot see
cross - had to look it up on google maps. Thought I recalled Wasaga Beach. My ex's brother has a cottage there... or at least he did in the late 80's
yes,but i love collingwood better,i am at the base of the hill right on the bay;))
oh! got the O...
I have a couple pictures of one winter that I took looking down the street, across the yards... and the last one is just a big snow bank, couldn't see past it to the neighbours
T in the fourth column please? for NBT?
down to 27...
yup,it is a traditional winter when you lose sight of the houses across the road
Time for lunch. BBL. *POOF*
If we have snow here, the whole country just gets thrown into total chaos.
bye judi!
well, I still have 60 to go, need to get some breakfast and a top off on the tea. BBS
do i spy an NB in the chog???
yep. you English types are pretty unprepared for REAL winter weater.
stidmama, the 2 t's are, ****r tots and plural
or weather
when we lived further north, the hwy dept used to use these sno slingers that whould pile it as high as 25 feet on the sides of the highways, and that in itself became a drivers friend as it stopped drifting
thanks mside! NBT!
EvaN!!!! are you a MRS now????
i AM, stid! :)
howdy Mrs eva;)
howdy ho, Mr. Crossy. :)
WOO-HOO!!!! pretty dress and all, too. LOVE the bouquet. that eye candy you are wearing (the one in the tux) isn't bad either... ;-)
hehe, thanks. :)
clue for a top left "O" word?
:-D sorry I missed it, have been in my own little world for a couple months.
yaaa! finally some wedding pics!
i have to say, thats actually a downright AWFUL photo of chris. he looks rather possessed there...hehe
nm got it
NBT
the pic of you with your dad is wonderful, too.
go trentsnana go!
lol,i was possesed on my wedding day as well,my lady was the light in my eyes and her smile was the laughter in my voice
oh gee cross -- wish my tom would talk like that!
i am just a softy
lol Eva, you don't wanna see pictures of Frank and I together ;) he's gorgeous but can we take a picture together...not on yer life.
i still wanna see, jesse!
hmmm, maybe when you're older ;)
hm. gorgeous but doesn't show up in pics... *wonders if Frank and Nancy Boy have been to Forks, Washington*
speaking of my beloved flower,i best get her up as her melodious snoring is about to peel the paint from the walls...lol back in a sec
chris is so very handsome, but he hates the way he looks in photos. he is way over-conscious about the weight he has gained in the face over the years. he ends up making what i call "the chris face" -- which is kinda cute + funny in person, but ruins every photo he takes...
rofl cross!
and I should head out too --
ah I know how he feels, EvaN! tell him he just looks "mature" -- and point out all the handsome men in the world whose faces have changed in the same way over time.
Frank just makes the, "you're taking a PHOTO?" face - he just seems to raise his eyebrows until I lower the camera. The quickest way to start a fight ;)
*sending lapel button spy camera for Nancy Boy* we want PICS!
chris actually asked if we had to have a photographer at the wedding. he was even more put out when his mother bought disposable cameras for the tables.
he hasnt looked at a single photo yet.
oh man, that's too bad. but not everyone is as happy in front of a camera as you are!
oh, i dont always love the camera. we just have opposite mentalities. he thinks "i hate how i look in photos, so dont take any." i figure, "i usually take bad photos, so take TONS -- that way we will get a few good ones!"
ah. that's a good approach. and much more realistic!
that's how I feel. It's so difficult to get just one good shot!
anywho, this gal *points thumbs to self* needs to get some lunch before our all-hands meeting this afternoon...
so. I am leaving a few (17) to finish later. thanks for everyone for being here -- and EvaN, I am so very pleased for both of you. Camera-shy or not, he looks fine! and so do you.
(((Hugs and choclits for all))) *poof*
and I need to get to work. Byyye!
thankyou stid! and jesse, you know what im still waiting for. ;)
I'll pull some together ;) don't you worry, Eva!
Ooo, Eva and NB have a secret! : D
i am a taurus,i have no secrets, with gentle prodding and 10 minutes, you can find out my entire life;0
Oh hell Cross, all we need to get your secrets is promise bacon.
mmmm bacon....
well friends, an interesting morning here at school--we've just been put in lockdown! Hate not knowing why
Good grief Mcurl. Hope everything is alright.
That is troublesome...
just now allowed to go to "modified" lockdown which is kids in chairs, lights on, teaching continues but no one goes in or out of buildings.
Last time our schools went into lockdown was when the DC Snipers started.
* Waving hi to Jellen*
we are on half days for conferences and due to go home in 1.5 hours; lunches are supposed to start being served in 5 min! Don't think that's going to happen :-(
ta 6/18/7/28, first one
my son was talking of a lockdown at his school yesterday, some kid was running up and down the halls with a butcher knife and stabbing the lockers
One who sun bathes and plural Bich.
oh my cross; that sounds a little scarey
ty Molly
turns out he was angry at his parents cause he was forbidden to have a swiss army knife
Firewords. Anyone need a clue or two?
Sadly, there are a lot of troubled kids out there these days.
amazing what kids do when they don't get what they want.
I guess he won't be getting the Swiss Army Knife for real now
i imagine not
evening all- can't believe tian isn't in the dictionary, it's a common cookery term
never used it myself
I think the Babble gods consider it a proper noun Glant
Evening all
howdy kaytee:)
... or whatever time of day it is where you are :)
Hi Crossy, howyadoing?
not too bad, having some nice fall days here and have only had snow three times so far;)
3 times already? No wonder you people call it "Fall" lol
we would be lost without our seasons, even though we may grumble at times
Yes, it must be odd not to have seasons. We don't often have snow, but we definitely have winter!
Winter is the only one I would get rid of. I see no purpose for it.
poor molly, where would we all be without our yearly migration of ski bunnies?
I love winter. Cooler days, but still plenty of sunshine. And bitterly cold nights, even below zero sometimes
I can't use "love" and "bitterly cold" in the same sentence. Cross, I'll leave the ski bunnies to you.
in jan-feb,we often get below minus 20
Celsius?
yup
last year we had 3 days at -30
eeek
but it changes,we are warmer than we were and witer ends earlier
See, I can't get all jazzed about weather that can kill you.
Then again, your homes are all air-conditioned, aren't they? Out here, only the very rich have such luxuries
i have no air conditioning
hydro is too expensive
Seriously, Crossy? How do you survive minus 30 then?
and the real hot times are only for a few weeks
lol,for minus 30 we add heat, not air conditioning
Yes, when I visited Canada the hot day was a week before I got there
hi all
To me, a comfortable temperature is one that requires long sleeves
howdy carlee
Hi carlee
ugh...my hydro bill was 600+ for 2 months and i dont have ac
ouch
What's hydro?
( mind that water too...but...again....not watering lawn)
electric
are you using the enegry bulbs carlee and have the hot water tank wrapped?
electricity
yeap and yeap
So Niagara really is a source of power?
our municipal water is insane here..delievery for my mom was 180.00 her usage of water was 11.36
HYDROelectricity
Hello and Happy Friday all... :-)
Happy Friday to you too, Soodlebum
that is high carlee
howdy soodles
historically here in ont our power came from niagara falls...so was a hydroelecric plant....many of our elecrical companies are still called hydro
holy crap YES kay
Hi Soodle. Kaytee, I know it is hard to understand the Canadian language. I only get it because I was married to one. Hydro...hee!
I don't think any of our rivers are big enough to be a decent source of hydro
I live in one of the windiest, wettest countries on the planet - yet none of it's power is harnassed...... Sheesh!
u want to talk odd language talk to an aussie
wow carleekat.... and i am bichin because my water bill is averaging 100.00 a month.. we also pay a sewer bill here in my county which is equal to approx. 1/3 of the water bill
lol @ Molly - I have to think twice to follow American too
many of our smaller towns still have their local hydro building that were used when demand was new
I have always found it strange that Ireland has not found a way to harness the power of all that water.
we have sewer and environmental on ours too
we have wind turbines turning up all over place and we currently have largest solar farm in world here
Well, if you want to talk about wasted opportunity, it's weird that solar power isn't the norm here - it should be readily available
Kay, just be glad they are not laying it on thick...Like "three or four clicks up the route to Timmy's, get me a coffee, right some, eh? You hoser."
we also have rubbish collection charge and a "service charge" and who knows what the hell that means
lmao ... Molly, I'll keep quiet (didn't understand any of that beyond the clicks)
Carlee, I speak a bit of Australianese. : D
that molls is either someone from the prairies...or... an east coaster....
we would say where i am from..." five mins up the road to grab a tim's"
I think 'clicks' is airline-speak .. well, my ex used to use that expression - for kilometres, I think
there would be no right som....
All I know is that between the Canadian speak and the French speak it took me months to be able to understand my husband when we first met.
clicks is kms yes
i absolutely refuse to let the word "eh" pass my lips i hate it
Molly - I never did understand my husband, even without a language difference. No prizes for guessing why I've been single for so long now, lol
Ah, the male/female inability to understand each other is definitely not based on language alone.
I'm confused - what gender is the little grey icon?
I am ever grateful for my education in all things Canadian. Especially Blue Rodeo.
What's Blue Rodeo?
It's a band Katy. The grey icon is genderless.
Best thing I discovered in Canada was praline ice cream - pretty much the only edible thing I found, lol
Canada has produced some incredible musicians
gd evening everybody
hi ruby
i kinda like Canadian cooking...since I do it so regularly!
the only edible thing in canada was ice cream?????
And what Canadian goodies do you rustle up Krysten?
Hey Ruby!
Krysten, we were stuck in a hotel for 6 weeks, so the food was rather much the same all the time. Spent one evening with a local family and the lady of the house cooked up half a dozen different veg just to satisfy my craving!
butter tarts....
lol...buttertarts and double doubles!
She also gave me a recipe for the most fantastic cheese cake I've ever tasted. Ingredients are a bit pricey to make it very often though
fish n' brews
Butter tarts are poser pecan pies. : P
Food here is pretty much the same anywhere these days...totally dependant on the individuals.
pecan pie .. yummy
hello kayteeJay. That looks like an SA flag. I used to go to PE regularly on biz trips and loved the country!
butter tarts don't need to have pecans...i love raisin and plain
since we have a houseguest, I made crepes suzettes for deseret.
Carlee, this will horrify you. You can't get Coffee Krisps in the US.
desert*
Now I'm getting hungry and the kids have gone to a friend to eat tonight so I'm not going to get dinner :(
this week alone I made spaghetti, and chicken curry, squash soup, reuben sandwiches
coffee crisps sound like something I would love
what on earth are reuben sandwiches?
where are you krysten? Twell me and I'm on my way!
tonight, it'll be sushi on the menu
Buttertarts are soggy pecan pies without the pecans!
corned beef, sauerkraut, rye bread
smoked meat with swiss cheese and saurkraut on rye bread
lmao @ helensgirlkid
And thousand island dressing on the Reuben
I'll give that a miss .. can't stand sauerkraut
Ah, Reubens - submarine bun with corned beef, big pile sliced thin, sauerkraut, and swiss cheese
never had pecan pie before
aaah, I forgot that, molly
love pecan pie
molly, i'd skip the dressing but have hot mustard
See Katy, they can't even say "corned beef". It's "smoked meat". Hee hee hee!
how about with pastrami?
Must admit - most commerciall pecan pie is as soggy as commercial buttertarts - and I DO NOT MAKE PIE an more!
are you kidding?? newfies eat a ton of corned beef!
are you kidding?? newfies eat a ton of corned beef!
you can't get decent corned beef here or bagels or pita.... :(
lol @ Molly .. corned beef is supposed to be boiled, not smoked
Montreal smoked meat is totally different!
Pastrami is good, to, but it's probably not a Rueben any more.
I miss those things and decent rye bread......
I have actually made montreal smoked meat. No easy feat.
22 words left, but little hope of finishing
mmm corned beef on light rye.....
{{crossy}}
dimmflemyer (sp) do the best rye bread
((ruby)
Almost as good as bacon, crossey?
should make a boiled dinner some night soon...weather's cool enough for it
almost...not quite
love New England boiled dinner but can't get decent corned beef for it and the canned stuff here disintegrates
but the crepes suzettes were delish
i use cottage roll...have to boil the salt out of it but it's awesome with potatoes, cabbage, and carrots
Maybe I should go make myself a slice of toast, you lot are making my tummy grumble
hello all could I have a clue for the 9 and 10 please :)
I love to cook for people but haven't had a dinner party in a long time...feeling the need to invite people over
Rachway, I have the sq10 - more of the sq6
that's what usually happens, but tonight I ate myself silly!
tw9 most curvy
Got 'em thanks Krysten and Jess

hi carlee
Hi, stid!
((((JELLEN!!!))))
how are you?
I'm fine...just playing cards...
How are you?
I am well. was going to "work" today gathering potential sources for my master's project, but I think that I will instead take another "easy" day just getting a little more order in my life.
tonight the younger stidkid has the opening night of the play he is in, so we will go to that, also.
Cool!
I cleared off two chairs in the living room so I can sit down, lol...
sounds like a great evening stid, enjoy :o)
yep. he is pretty excited. LAST sunday the boys first orchestra concert of the year went well -- the new bass trombone was so nice!
good for you jellen! I cleared off one chair so I could babble... *sigh* I have a HUGE pile of semi-sorted papers on a folding table now.
down to 11, it's slow going now, isn't it?
thanks gary/julie! how are you these days?
love the pic of you on the beach!
im great thanks jellen :o)
thanks thats me and my youngest, he is 8 now and i am in disbelief he got so big so fast lol
ten... *trudge trudge*
why does the choclit always run out before the tea?
im down to 18 and might leave them and come back later eyes getting tired
hmmm....
yes, they do seem to sprout up overnight, don't they?
you can have mine stid, I can't eat it
my eldest complaining she's 21 next year. she must think i am ancient
mmmmm. *snags choclit* why can't?
gives me migraines, so does red wine
only choccy i can eat is the dark dark stuff and its not right for snacking on somehow
oh! LOL that seems like so long ago to me... let's see. when I was 21, women were wearing WIDE shoulder pads like the women in the Dallas TV series....
oh, that's too bad. I am glad choclit doesn't give me migraines -- but I can only eat the really dark stuff because I am allergic to cow. so no more "milk" choclit for me
Or the Dallas linebackers...
Shoulder pads are from hell. I'm so glad they went away.
I remember those, i was 21 early 90's and pregnant with eldest son
don't forget the big permed hair to go with it and the ankle breaking heels!
Yes Jellen. The linebacker thing is why they are from hell.
:-D I KNEW it! OF course, I have very wide shoulders anyway. I used to take the pads out so the jackets and shirts fit... then they eliminated the pads entirely and I had to buy a bigger size top to fit the shoulders.
yep. the hair was pretty amazing too -- I didn't do that, but a lot of my friends did
i am a hairdresser amount of hairspray needed was probably why we have ozone problem
oh man! you must have breathed in a LOT of that.
*yuck face* I don't like the smell of hairspray
I hated the shoulder pads, too... one day I wore a sweater to work that had shoulder pads and they were making me crazy and I cut them out and stuffed them in my bra... LOL!
*grin* yet another useful fashion hint from amelu!
tell me about it, one of those things you get used to
lol amelu love it!
LOL! I literally turned a few heads that day... *halo*
rofl
hmph. stuck on TEN to go.
actually that reminds me thoe other week i was round a friends. Asked her where she had taken shoulder pads out of. She told me they werent shoulder pads they were inserts for her 13 yr olds bra she had confiscated lol
ah. NINE.
ooof. *SO glad I don't have girl children*
yay stid
*Amen to that, stid!*
I have one, more trouble than both boys put together. BUT is also my best friend now
this is the one who thinks she is old, yes?
thats the one. IS reason i have grey hair lol
*wise nod* yes, I keep noticing "yet another" gray hair. Have decided to stop pulling them out in order to not go bald... just wish they were not "wild" and sticking out in odd directions.
at 14 i almost was ready to put tracking chip in her and lock her up. but forced her to spend day with me shopping and she finally realised i was an ok person not just a mum
Stid, that's the reason i just cut my hair short again. the greys were making me look a bit wild and they are wavy unlike rest of hair
I will cut my hair short either just before or soon after I finish student teaching in the spring. My last "grow out" I think -- I donate the hair, but it's so hard to justify taking all that time every day to put it up.
I am half thinking "before" but then I will need to schedule hairdresser time to keep it out of my eyes.
that was one of my problems. youngest has cerebral palsy and takes so much time in morning. so less time spent on me is a bonus
yes got to see what those kids are up to ;o)
((julie)) my elder has mild CP (very mild) it is time consuming, even so.
lukes is mild but he has loose hand muscles and tight leg muscles so we have exercises and i have to help him dress etc. but happy to do it. thanks stid ((hugs))
or rather, it was when he was little and we had to go to therapy sessions weekly
we have physio, occupational therapist both on the go atm never ending
now that he is essentially an adult he doesn't have therapy any more and manages pretty well
how is it now? do you still have check ups etc?
yep. well eventually he will reach an age where he can be responsible (maybe) for his own at-home practice time and such.
great to hear :o)
not a lot of follow-up now, though I know that in later years the peculiar ga4 and posture will mean joint and arthritic problems
we are trying to pull other things together though since "brain damage" seemingly always affects more than one part of the brain. There are so many late-emerging issues *sigh*
Luke will need ops on both legs in future or his hips and spine will be damaged. But will cross that bridge when we get to it. he's pain free atm luckily
so it's ongoing worries?
we had an mri in may. luckily nothing really bad there.
yep. small things, but they all add up to make me concerned about his future.
thats what us mums do though, worry and be there for it all. A hard road but we will get them through it
I think he has so many talents and strengths, but they tend to be hidden by the "little things" that get in the way. Not sure how it will work when he is in "the real world" (not school) and accomodations are more difficult to explain and access.
thanks julie, that's my plan -- one issue, one day, one task at a time.
only way to take it all, or it's to much to handle. great way of dealing with it
yep.
jellen disappeared...
I will be back later got to go read the hobbit with son. you have a great night tonight
lost in grid i bet ;o)
enjoy, julie! ((hugs))
take care. bye xxx
so why is sh*t accepted and aint isnt? doesnt make sense
Life ain't fair, Cos ;) love your icon - sooo cute!
ain't is a contraction. it won't accept doesnt either.
hey cos. ain't -- has puncteration innit
lol ty :)
or what bernice said!
my dog's tummy is making funny sounds... and it's sunny outside. will have to get my last 8 later. ((hugs and choclits for all)) *Poof*
What is "ain't" actually made up of, actually? despite using it in most of my sentences (oh London) I don't know. "ai not"?!
are is not? lol
NB, ain't is slang for aren't. It isn't made up of any real words.
i think it's "am not", but because the m/n collision doesn't allow natural pronunciation, it just becomes "ain't"
ahh, makes sense, Bernice!
All I know is that I use it to string my stream of swearwords together ;) I need to sort my language out.
Ain't no big thang NB. : P
God created swear words for a reason :P
(that was a joke)
I love the name Bernice btw.. makes me think of one of my favorite TV characters
Bah-dum-ching Cos.
clue for the at6/30?
a + Mark the famous author of Tom Swift.
Would if I had it, Cos...26 left here. Getting ready to go out at the same time!
ooh, thanks Molly!
do you mean tom sawyer?
ty i got it btw
Oh Lord yes Cos. Off for more coffee now.

Go, MPitt and Nef!
did you finish already, Jellen?
must finish so we can go to tgi fridays for veterans free dinner!
Yes, I finished early this afternoon...
figures. It is a fun grid (once I got a little help!
MP, we went to Applebees last night for that
I woke up strangely early this morning...
i like the fun grids of course if we don't push our brains a bit we don't grow and learn
how early, Jellen?
7 am...
Strangely early for me, I should say...lol
nef...we went to applebees for lunch and outback for the onion and iced tea all free...all that required is a veteran that once wrote a blank check to the service for anything up to and including his life so that we can be free...pretty nice that they are acknowledging our vets
have 2 ta's left the first set of 6/18 and 7/28 can someone help please
tgi fridats special runs the 11th - 14th and then golden corral has it the 15th
ta6= sun-browned + pian*** (one who plays)
oh, man! it was my day off; but we had a computer glitch at work; so i got up at 5:30 to be there because the geek squad was going to be there between 7:30 and noon. they got ther at 11:45; so dh and i missed our 1pm and 2pm acupuncture appts.
thanks so much Jellen
Oh, how annoying, Nef!
bummer nef...
nef...so no poking today!
that's so nice to know, MP. As I told my dtr. last night; you wouldn't have seen anything like this 10 years ago!
yes I wish my dad were still alive he would have gotten a bick kick out of this....he was a three wars vet...now he holds a place of honor at arlington cemetary overlooking all of wash. dc...
yeah; I was a little put out by the fact that I had to be there so early and they came at the last minute. But at least the problem is solved; so (HOPEFULLY!!!) clinic will go smoothly from now on
nef...are you all the pokers or the pokees???
Wow, MP! Do you have any of his stories?
excuse my typos...must need nourishment LOL
MP, I'm the nurse manager for a small prenatal clinic. I'm getting acupuncture for a pulled groin muscle that keeps spasming, DH is trying it for his spacticity
yes nef...my dad was full of wonderfulness in many ways...a kind of modern day mark twain...everyone who met him loved him...I was a lucky kid...we were close and we were a great communication family...he wrote a column in a local paper...previously he did standup comedy in the service and he and my mom played an organ and sang at many functions...my own private george and gracie!
Such great memories, MP! You should write them down for your kids!
I've never had accupunct. but I wouldn't hessitate...ancient asian culture is full of wisdoms!
Good idea nef...my son was devasted when his grandpa died...my dad taught him to sail a boat and many things, even fishing...my son treasures my dads handmade fishing pole...you have inspired me to do that for my son and my son's children...three grandchildren. I am blessed and richer than I could have ever imagined...
I've had it for various muscle spasms and such for about 5-6 years. DH had been to a lecture about it while my back was spasmed out (back when I was working in ICU). He signed me up for it; and made me go. I don't do well with pain meds (too sensitive for most); and have always been afraid of chiropractic; but I'd been taught pressure points by a physical therapist years ago. I figured that the worst that could happen with the accupuncture would be a minor skin infection; but everything is sterile...
I have been putting together our family tree so this would be a nice ancillary piece for the family!
it really would, MP. I used to tell my kids "Fritz stories" about a neighbor boy when we were growing up; and they still talk about how Fritz did this or that to us when we were young! (Fritz was like a big brother to us; he died in Viet Nam and received the Navy Cross
I did have chiropractic...was afraid so researched the doctor and his technique and by george it fixed me right up...felt great after the first treatment but went a few more times to make sure things stayed fixed...and they did!
Wow...I am a Navy brat too...they gave my family a wonderful life!
My mom at 83 still benefits from his service...they are terrific!
one of my first adult patients in nursing school had been paralized years before by a quack chiro "doctor"; so that is why they scare me. I'm sure that it doesn't happen now; but I'm still chicken
well...if no one needs clues I may depart here soon.. ;)
well back to the grid to finish my 10...later
down to 29 now, Jilly; and haven't listed yet. You can always join the chat! ;-)
LOL, I know Nef....could throw my hat into the "I like chiropractors" ring...have had many positive treatments over the years
My DH and daughter both have had good success with it. We have a chiropractor that offers his services free to our pregnant women; it's just *me* that is afraid of it!
grandson is up!
I started with a good friend whom I trusted...was REALLY hard...it was my neck and I had the same experience with a patient early in my career
Hi MPitt. Coast Guard brat here with Mom and Dad at Arlington too. It's a beautiful place.
