and based on that.. he wants to see it. I was so SURE the "cries a lot" would turn him off...
did you tell him that it's all right, cos in the end, everything blows up?
but maybe he wants to watch it because she didn't want to be married any more. He's mad at the moment that Dad is married to me, because HE's supposed to marry me. It's a 4 yo thing.
oh no that's right, that's the sequel - "eat, pray, laugh, explode"

Hello babbleland, anyone home?
hello , hello
Greetings lynxxx, good to see you :)
Tell me how lovely and warm and sunny it is is with you as it has bee pouring for 2 days now.
hi FM, ditto. Are you treating yourself to a holiday from work?
HAve given myself a late start for work today as I only have 9 words left to find so as soon as that is done I will don the work head.
Lovely and sunny - maybe a tad bit warm - 34 today. Similar weather coming up for the next 3 days. Just need to start the day early and avoid the afternoon swelter
wow - 9 - well done. I am finding this a bit hard - still have 56 to find
oh bliss although that is rather too warm.
You have no snow left though?
How does Stewie cope with the heat - sleep?
Touch wood no snow now for a couple of weeks although it has tried to but nothing has settled.
Yes and appetite falls off too (but a little weight loss won't hurt him - might get back that svelte waistline!)
LOL
How long has he been with you now?
3 years already - he is 5.5 yo
Ah yes I thought it was about that long, I knew you had found him during my babble time :)
And there goes my chat time for now - phone is ringing :(
Bye for now
I can spare five minutes, lynxx, just so you're not on your own.
and back - stupid cold callers!
Hello Haz - how kind of you. How is everything of there?
Morning Haz!
Good morning, FM. We've had another skiff of snow and it's cold. Otherwise things are much as usual.
We have a government registry here where you can opt to register your phone number and then only charities/surveys can ring you - certainly cuts down on stupid cold callers
WE do too lynxx for phone and fax but it only applies to UK numbers so call centers o/s the UK are exempt :(
HAven't seen you for a bit Haz, have you been a busy bee?
I've been skulking. That sounds even worse than lurking, doesn't it?
morning all
Good morning, suefrad.
hi Sue
It does indeed. Morning suef
HAve you been muttering under your breath too?
Something like that. I just realised that I was getting cross and miserable because so many people here were cross and miserable. I loved Les Miserables the show, but I have my limitations.
So, I've skulked.
Fair enough. Has RDA stated up again?
well while you are here we could get an update of the wedding preps...bridesmaid dresses - sorted?
We have a committee meeting next week and we'll start up, weather permitting, the week after that.
good morning babblers xx
hi Frog
Bridesmaids dresses sorted, yes, and first fitting for alterations to bride's dress next week.
i trust you are all well today?
Morning frog
Is it a church wedding?
And the hotel sent through the new menu with changes and, (surprise) price increases.
never!
Yes, church wedding followed by afternoon and evening reception in a hotel.
I know. Price increases. I've never heard of such a thing.
and don't mention the cost of petrol and the VAT increase *le sigh*
I know. If the price of petrol goes up any more, they'll be thumbing a lift to the reception.
A long day in store - I'll assume you have purchased a pair of flats as well as heels for yourself
or a horse drawn carriage :)
I'm sure you could get a loan of some of the horses from RDA
Oh, I've not even started to look for anything for me. I'll wait until the summer stuff starts coming into the shops after February and by then the liposuction will have been effective.
good thinking lynxxx
lol
Poor old RDA horses wouldn't be up to the trek. It's about 14 miles and a lot of it uphill. No, I'll check out bus times.
My girlfriend dieted and gymed for a year for her son's wedding - it's all slipping back now though
I've got less time than that...
You don't need to lose any weight!
You most certainly have quite a head start on her - and several inches in height too
Oh, I do, FM. Just enough to destroy any chance of having double and triple chins.
Is your girlfriend short or tall, lynxxx?
short, about 5 foot one I think
Then we're about the same size. FM is the tall one.
When you're shorter, it's harder to carry extra weight.
Really - you seem so tall and slim in your photos - must be your bearing
FM - how tall are you?
6 foot
Wishful thinking, lynxxx. I'm like the little teapot.
oh Haz really! tsk.
Wow - how great. My daughter only got to 5'9"
I'm very avg - 5'6" - probably shorter now though - age!
We've never seen a photo of you, lynxxx.
Good point Haz.
could be a reason! I hate p\hotos of myself, usually destroy them
Interesting. We need to send in a secret sq5/18 to capture you unawares.
In a photo, I mean. We wouldn't kidnap you.
It would be lovely to see a pic tho.
We have a variety show show - which has Red Faces talent segment (funny acts obviously). The funniest act I have ever seen on it was a youngish guy who an amputee (missing a leg) who sang "I'm a Little Teapot" - truly funny
Notice how she is trying to change the subject HAz?
You could put anybody's picture up, lynxxx, and we'd be none the wiser.
We'd suspect something if it was Kylie Minogue.
I've noticed, FM, I've noticed.
Haz reminded me of it
Changing subject again - so do you like my latest purchase?
I like it very much. What size is it?
yr icon pic - it is lovely.
Phone.
18cm - or 8=9 inches
So elegant.
I'd better go help my daughter with our dinner - maybe see you later.
Bye lynxxx
Guess I had better get on with work. Haz I'll catch up with you later.
I'm back but the birds have flown. See you again. Bye!
wards
Too many r's and a's in this thing.
Thank inge didn't have that one yet lol

Thanks zooz
Morning Zoom, it is plural, I don't get it.

Oh, gotcha. I was not reading PT I thought it was PL.

the strange one to PT is the ti5 ornamental coronet worn by women

hi kids
hi esprit
hi Jean :)
something happen to your son jm?
gm annie :-)
he totaled his car on his first day of his new and wonderful internship
was he hurt??
his miata was hit by an suv and flew in the air and landed on another suv
CRUD! that's the pits. I have my second driver starting next month. It's been so long between them that I've forgotten the worry part!
OMG that's terrifying
no thank god he was not hurt except he was shaken up
He's lucky to be alive!
ir's amazing that he was not injured!
he is 25 and a good, if somewhat agressive, driver
well they were all going very slow as it was on a city street
I have one the same age. He's a good driver.
must have been hit with great force to send him flying
and the driver of the second suv saw what was happened and so stood on his breaks to keep from being pushed into another car and adding to the list
no, the boy calls his miata a skate board -- it is very light and tiny
never stop worrying though champ :-)
help with the bottom A and R please?
no joke. my 25 year old is on a road trip working, where he's driving a lot at night in south Texas. Worry about him falling asleep, getting lost, you name it!
lol where in south tx? it is very nice country
closer to the border than I'd like. he saw a UFO last time out!
Do mothers ever stop worrying?
i used to drive between austin and houston at one a.m.
never
My oldest is 25, and I'm gonna say NO. But you do worry less...at least not 24/7.
right, jean!
no i think if we stop worrying we are past caring about anything
i agree champ -- it is a different sort of worry
but when the phone rings really late at night. . . .
only because we don't know the half of it, I imagine! ;)
NO JOKE!!!!
lol too true and I want to keep it that way!
a few months ago, someone called us several times in the middle of the night, once every half hour, and hung up. After the first 2, I just turned the ringer off, but the first one gave me a heart attack!
so no help with the bottom A and R :-(
working at it...

Just means you're a tough broad Carlee.
It is rather obvious. I found it first.

Go for the good stuff Carlee. Be particular.

You can drink tea on the shuttle?

Not on the Metro though, right?
Must be something in the air Eva. I left my breakfast at home. Had to get McGrease.
honestly, i still drink it on the metro, so long as its in the thermos. its spill-proof.
i just woke up..( bed is cozy... coffee way downstairs in cold kitchen...sob>
I know someone who keeps a four cup coffeemaker next to her bed. How's that for treating yourself well?
i'd need a mini fridge too for the cream...I treat myself to cream always
we have not one, but two Keurigs in our house (one is ours, one is our roommates) im pretty sure on ours you can set the timer to have coffee/tea ready for you in the morning. i just havent tried that yet...
Maybe that is just a treat for black coffee drinkers then.
dr 6/27 plz
I refuse to have a coffeemaker without a timer. If I have to get up at 5:30AM, I want coffee ready and waiting for me.
ivesy, past tense of dr 5/14
thanks annie... i didnt see it from the other d :)
o gee... ty.. i was brain dead for that one lol
ok..i NEED coffee
ok..coffee going..and cold pizza in hand...ready to take on the day
im not much of a coffee drinker. i have to be desperate to stay awake or else i have to put so many things in it that it barely qualifies as coffee anymore...
ooh, cold pizza??
cold pizza rocks for breakfast :)
it totally does. im envious.
local pizzaria...home made...not franchaise crap
Happy Friday everyone

ugh..myhouse is a bomb... boxes everywhere....i cant wrrestle the boxes of xmas crap to basement...am waiting for my son to do so ( my ankle still too sore for it)
what on earth did you do your ankle, Carlee
carlee, what happened to your ankle?
i sprained it xmas day doing laundry..no kids..no net...i decided to be productive..do laundry..cat ran between my legs as i was headed downstairs...i went face first down 4 stairs....
Inquiring minds want to know :-)
teach me to do laundry xmas day i suppose
oh Carlee, it could have been so much worse than a sprain
and it wasnt a "walk it off" twist... its all bruised still...
oh carlee, so sorry, I did that once...get an Ace Bandage on it
could have been..but wasnt
i wear one during day..prop foot at night
so glad to hear that
You know, I find it ironic that someone made a huge dramatic point about having someone to live with in case something happened to him, and you have an accident when you are home all alone.
its ok..i mean..i can walk etc...yea..a bit of poetic justice.....but...i apparently "dont count" as i can "take care of myself"
WHATEVER
and if had been him would "be so much worse"
ok...i want to go back to my happy place .....
where is that, Carlee?
not thinking about dXh
this grid is boring...
ah
I agree, too many a's and r's.
not at all, this one I like..it is was annoying in the beginning but now it is okay
i raided my mum's wool storage..and brought home a slew of 100% wool..am having a balst with it felting

Hi Harry
Hi HH
hihi
morning harry
you knit or crochet?
my school closed today. there is no snow on the ground
crochet
water main break harry?
you are a fast crocheter
they're worried about snow in the PM
crazy.
more like worried about lawsuits
crochetting is fast..isnt it? i am almost done a second pair of mittens.....but i took my time...
oh for pete's sake...
65 to go....bbl =- going to the supermarket.
not fast for me, still learning
bye Harry
oh..my gramma taught me when i was a kid...
then it would be fast for you
I tried crocheting once. What I attempted to make was pretty comical.
that is the way it was with me learning to knit Molly. I gave that one up
i find it relaxing....i want to try this "new" tunisian method..uses a different hook and works up the way knitting does
knitting i feel like i am stabbing something over and over and over again...
I saw a pattern for that yesterday. Looked for a hook at Hobby Lobby but they were out
onceyou get good at the tunisian way...essentially any knit pattern can be done with a crochet hook
let me see if I can find the pattern.
mom....signup at www.ravelry.com its only knitting and crochetting
http://www.caron.com/projects/ss/ss35_ soft_square_baby_blanket.html
I am already on Ravelry
so am i :)..i signed up 3 or 4 years ago.,... when was a beta...and then lost the link..just found it 2 days ago again...and my stuff all stillt here :)

how wonderful for you
I am KLD1057
id like to learn to knit or crochet (first sewing, though!) but hubby tells me im too young for those sorts of things...heh
I thought it was very pretty
I love to sew
I am..carleekat :)
I would teach you Eva, if we lived closer together
i would love to know how to sew well...i can follow pattern..but i destroy it as i go...
i cant even hem something -- i use hemming tape. i also dont have a sewing machine...heh
i would love to know how to knit the european way... its so fast...
sewing is a lot easier than crochet or knitting
but then I learned to sew when I was little
i guess cus i have known essentially almost all my life..it is very easy for me... I could easily teach you mum...
there u go...when u were little :)
exactly
I am learning at our library. They have free knitting, crochet and quilt lessons
hand piecing and quilting
i've been told some of my stiches are "backwards" but still works up well...as my gramma was a lefty and i am a righty
I am a lefty
quilting is fun...i am afraid i dont have patience tho... i am a strickly patchwork gal...and if not perfectly square...well..fudge it
mom never could teach me, although she tried and tried
trapunto is love tho
lovely*
that is what they call a "design element" Carlee :-)
fudging..or trapunto?
fudging
:op~~~~~~
have to scoot, sweetie has a dr. appt. in 15 minures

It sort of came and went, Moll! But thanks for asking... How in heaven's name do you know about Nollaig bheag?
molls is like that... she just knows stuff
ok..soo...soodssss... my pathfinders have decided they liked Robby Burns day..we had a full dinner...

now..other then irish stew or corned beef, and colcannon... is there ANYTHING I should make..am cooking for 20
wait, molly knows about Nollaig bheag but not YogiBerry's FroYo??
this is a proper..sit down dinner...taking up a full 2 hours...
Chicken Tikka Masala? Yuk Sung? Ha, ha, I'm joking.... Let me think about that one.....
stew and smashed anything does not take up 2 hours anytime..anywhere
hmmm..tikka masala... yummmmm
in otherwords... we need `feast`menu starters...then... a meal....and a dessert...( other then creme d`ment parfait pls)
hi all, just started and nbt, nbs and foun the 10!!
i am planning menu now so i can catch the lamb on sale...not sure how i am going to put guinness receipts through girl guides..but whatever
woot woot for peri
:)
Of course, your budget would be a huge influence on this, Carlee, but how about some potato (Yes Moll - more spuds!!) and leek soup, with soda bread. (actually anything involving soda bread and/or potatos is very Irish....)
snowed here but does not look like mich, but will still need todo some shovelling :(
potato and leek...good idea..
And anything with salmon (smoked or fresh) would be good....
no worries on budget...we have $ on hand and we plan for this dinner now
i`m good on the stew....need another side to go with colcannon
Of course, I would be expecting an invitation, as one of your consultants..........
( stew is good in lieu of corned beef as by time you have sliced for 20 people...its cold)
Gak, I'd go for the salmon. The smell of lamb makes me queasy.
Turnip or w
Hello peoples! How are you?

u know me..food porn
We Irish Americans, I think get Nostalgic for something we never knew...my Mom is like that as well.
Carlee, it would be really easy to make a non-Irish dish Irishy by having green white and gold colors on the plate!
i cant see 20 girls getting excited over turnip especially when they find out they eating lamb....
so..orange glzed carrots ok?
I would think carrots have been consumed by Irish people. Golly I hope so!
I love glazed carrots!
( root beer and gingerale for beverages...)
okie kokie...now..desserts soods
Yup, with shamrock instead of parsley!
Can i have a hint for the 10?
I am surprised that crossy has not surfaced with this talk of great yummy food.
sorry mark, I have it not.
A REALLY NOISY ROOM mark..then past tense
di8/ 10
Carlie, at the risk of going OTT, why not Mint, Vanilla and Orange icecream.
so...soodle..any thoughts on dessert..should i just go green... like grasshopper pie...
On St Patricks Day......as long as its green, you can get away with it. (Said the woman who drank green beer in San Fransisco a few years ago... yak!)
ri 6/27 plz
go for the lime jello. ;)
I still don't have it.
Hi Mark!
Hello Acid. I know you are sitting right next to me.

At the office yesterday we had a bag of Ghirardelli dark chocolate truffles----mmmmmm! Perfect bite size--1, 2, 3, 4, had to stop!

Bye Carlee
hagd carlee.
its cold for sure. not terrible, but cold.
Diplopia--seeing R's and A's all over.
Good Morning Everyone and happy new year to those I havent seen this week
hey all. up early, have a parenting conundrum. trying to NOT enable the elder kid's lack of follow-through while recognizing there is significant involvment of his learning disabilities while feeling "dissed" because he denies he has a problem (until he needs help urgently) at the same time recognizing he is also not as mature as others at his age...
hey river! (((hugs)))
Hi RV + Stid
Hi ((Stid))
Ask him how he wants to solve the problem. Ask him if he would like input.
he doesn't want input. he wants me to fix it.
I don't know that any high school senior is truly mature, but they sure think they are.
Tell him this is a dress rehearsal for college--how will he solve this problem.
he expects me to be ready, willing and able to "fix" any and every lapse; resents when I prompt him in advance; says he "forgot" (which given his learning disabilities is possible, but he refuses to make use of strategies to help...)
my parents used tough love. eventually kids need to face the consequences of their actions (or inaction as the case may be.)
he isn't going to college scrabs, not unless and until he gets himself more reliable
I am thinking "tough love" in this case as well, EvaN. *very sad mama look*
being called at work - wow that was a fun minute...bbl
I can't afford to support a "student" who doesn't study, thinks a paper can be written the night before it is due... and he is technically already in college (doing coursework for free while in H.S.) and thinks a "C" grade is acceptable and will get him into a 4-year school with scholarships.
not sure what learning disabilities your son has, but my brother had a few learning disabilities too. my parents "helped" him so much that it actually became a disservice to him. eventually they had to cut the cords and let him really figure things out on his own -- down to almost not graduating HS on time because of it. but once he realized that they werent going to help him out of his mess, he picked himself up and figured out a way himself...
I say to emply tough love--better now then later.
I don't think he will finish, EvaN... after losing the computer (which he had not backed up despite prompting) with his senior project on it... *sigh*
thanks Scrabs. look for angry posts from your younger cousin on facebook. *sad mama look*
it IS sad when kids cant get it together on their own. but not graduating is a serious consequence. hopefully it wont come to that, but if it does, hopefully that will be the jump start he needs to be more responsible...
I have already seen them, Stid.
Stid, I have a kid in special ed because of a learning disability. He has always been taught not to let his disability "own" him.
rofl while crying. yes. he is certain that every thing I do is designed to ruin his life. He doesn't realize that I went back to school to get certification because I think he will need some financial support for his whole life (unless a miracle happens) -- not because I needed a master's but because tom's income does not keep pace with inflation and there is NO extra money to set aside for college, financial help with rent -- or anything else.
Life is tough + unfair for ALL of us.
this one so much doesn't let the disability "own" him -- he is certain he doesn't have a problem of any kind; that it is all in my head and I do it to keep him from meeting his dreams
and on the surface, in the moment, he seems normal, if quirky. it's only when he is asked to do specific tasks that things start to fall apart.
oh yeah, thats you, stid. totally conniving and scheming against your own children. *snort*
I see this lack of responsibility and accountability in kids with diabetes, asthma, etc, also.
This is a superbly useful web site for teachers, parents and students. I refer to it often. www.studygs.net/
wow. the news is showing snow back in philly again...
sorry that things are not going so well right now Stid.
thanks scrabs. I have seen that one before. But he won't look at things like that. If he looks he won't use. It's not even on his radar.
thanks red.
I, on the other hand... use many of those tips and techniques on a daily basis! If I don't keep lists, I don't get things done.
I love lists! but...I am not in high school either.
Denial is apowerful defense mechanism.
but, I will try again.
Hi Stid. Forgive me for butting in uninvited. Your oldest son sounds like my middle son. Remember drwed who babbled for awhile? He graduated HS and went to live with my Mom. She made him get a job, pay his own expenses, and buy his own clothes etc. Being LD also, he did not have the grades for scholarships. He went to Community College to bring up his grades, onto university with President's scholarship and now has Ph.D. My mom gets the credit as well as son. She did not cater to his LD and he decided he did not want to live "hand to mouth" and found ways, with help from caring professors, to turn learning disabilities into learning differences.
I'll talk to my Mother before I decide one one way or the other on paying the fee for him to play in a solo/ensemble contest
Another web site that I recommend for parents = empoweringparents.com. There are many articles about the challenges of dealing with adolescents.
thanks smd! ((hugs)) something similar is going to happen with this one. He thinks he is going to take a week or two this August to go to a family reunion in Indiana, and a meeting closer to home. But no job yet...
Yay for him, smd!
so I am talking to him about needed to get an apartment in town -- but needing to have a job to pay for it!
stid, it seems he may need a reality check from someone other than parents. as kids, we are always so certain that our parents are just wrong.
I am hopeful that one of these days he'll figure out that he has to spend time studying (as opposed to reading the text once) in order to get better grades...
I see this in young "adults." They tihnk they are ready for adulthood, complain about lack of freedom and independence, yet still want money and other help.
Oh scrabbler do not get me started on the "you owe me" generation.
When I was his age, I would have been devastated by a grade lower than "A", red -- if that's not sufficient input that a student isn't taking things seriously... and he is eligible for accommodations at his college; refuses to use them. I told him last night that I won't pay for him to retake classes.
I see it everyday in my office, Red, and with my sister's 3 boys (22, 21, 17)
smd, your story gives me hope, though. staying with grandparents isn't an option, but at some point he will likely stay witha friend.
Good luck Stid. I am sure things will work out. It just may take a little time and patience....and tough love. ((hugs)) to you and stiddad.
And talk to Doren about her younger son---graduated from Harvard's adult college program at age 30 or so.
we don't live in town and he doesn't drive (see the whole motivation, study, follow-through thing -- again) so he has to live where there is public transportation.
I certainly had my moments figuring out that my parents weren't going to fight my battles for me.
yes, many people do start to pull things together ...
brb phone
OK I must run. Scrabbs, please if you can take turn at scrabble so you can continue to beat me!
Stid, remember he is ONLY 18. He has much life experience ahead of him, especially over the next 4-7 yrs. Kids have to choose to say good-bye to adolescence and become a responsible adult.
I just did, Red.
So am I all alone here, with the lurkers? *waving to lurkers*
waving back
Hi kje!!
just came in scrab
how goes it?
Phew, I was feeling lonely.
Hey again. it was tom
HE thinks we should pay the fee so the kid can participate in the festival.
hey kje!
Hi Scrabs, I'm still popping in and out.
Annoyed that I missed a doc appt this AM because I didn't transfer appts to 2011 schedule book yet. $50 no-show fee now. Grrr.
I am going to call Mother and see what she thinks. After all, he hasn't picked out the music, so she can't practice and be his accompanist until he does
Hi Molly
????? scrabs!!! there's this great website my cousin recommended to help stay on task... *wicked cousin look*
Stid, in case you missed it: ww.empoweringparents.com. Very helpful articles for parents of adolescents.
wow, that sucks - what kind of doc with that kind of o-show fee?
I didn't miss it, just working through the first page.
I am still in December 2010 mode.
love this grid - o n's!
My monthly chat with therapist. My chance to vent + solve life's problems.
only a therapist could get away with those o-show fees... we have none
It never ends, these problems.
they have no-show fees at group health now, and at our dentist...
We chatted on the phone when he called me.
unless it's something really major, like traffic accident
Everywhere I go--MDs, dentist--there are no-show fees, even my own practice.
okay, calling Mother to ask her how she wants me to do this.
I should have told him that I was in an accident, except he called me on my home phone, LOL.
back in a few... maybe. *poof*
interesting
hasn't caught o down here yet
Missed appt = lost revenue and lost appt slot.
i am mucousy... darn it
Oh, so it's a cold virus that's hitting you. You mentioned it on FB.
cold or flu - have't decided yet... I have about 12 more hours to decide
We have seen a few cases of flu in the last few wks, and RSV is increasing--lots of wheezing babies and toddlers.
yes, flew started increasing here at start of december
hi from snowy brooklyn
hi anie
annie
hi kje, hope it's a cold and not the flu
good morning everyone;)
Hi Annie! "Little One" is seeing the cardiologist now--to discuss upcoming surgery after cardac conference yesterday. I am waiting to hear from the parents.
hi crossy :)
Hi Crossy!
fever hasn't goe high enough to make me take the ativiral yet
good morning crossy and all
Body aches?
Hi Scrabbs...hope "Little One" passes with flying colors and is able to have surgery
hi teach
howdy teach,scwabby,annie et cetera;)))
yesterday, but better today.. I think at this point it is a 50-50 situation, so likely will just wait it out
(plus abx would require me to go out, and I'd rather sleep)
abx??
talking to scrab
sorry, didnt mean to butt in
Antibiotic = AB or abx
o, it is fine, but kew she would understand the shortcuts
cuz i am lazy
aha, learned something new in doctorspeak
We have our own language.
half-way and think i need a nap
eating breakfast wore me out
Dr Scrabs, would you come over + take a look at my ankle?? :)
Annie, there is some debate about which surgical option is best, and the parents are thinking of getting a 2nd opinion.
Sleep well, kje.
Eva, what happened? Is this your rash or an injury?
I remember when Bobby's doctor asked me how long he had been on doxy..i had no idea what he was speaking about and now I say "doxy" too
rash seems to be cleared up finally. YAY! my ankle has been bothering me ever since the honeymoon. dont recall actually doing anything to it, but ever since then, whenever i wear heels, my right ankle is sore on the outside edge + constantly feels like its going to give way. everything is fine in flats.
Solution = don't wear heels.
Heels place awful strain on foot.
heh, well, yes. unfortunately, the vast majority of my work-appropriate shoes are heels. and i DO like heels. would like to not have to be confined to flats for the rest of my days...
Women + heels = rich podiatrists.
I don't know how you, and other women, do that, Eva.
i know, i know. i wear them because i sit at a desk all day. :) i commute in sneakers or flats. the only time im really on my feet in heels is walking to lunch or the loo...
but even those short trips are hellish now. :/
Pain = message from body.
lol"dr,it hurts when i do this" dr says "well dont do that" lol
Well, it's true, Crossy.
well, if im gonna go that anyway, how can i make it less painful....heh
Where a large, bulky ankle brace.
::pouts:: cant you wave your magic wand?
Or suck it up. LOL
:P
Sorry, the foot is not intended to walk in heels. It's bad for your spine too.
im much better at complaining than sucking it up. ;)
if you like eva,it could be a bone spur,i had one of those carved out of me by Dr death..err i mean our resident 80 year old bone mender and took 2 months to recover
Eva, I truly have no other solutions for you.
Although you could see a podiatrist and have him/her tell you the same stuff.
he writes on the feet so he gets the correct one in surgery lol
i do have a bone spur on the top of one of my feet. thankfully it rarely causes me pain, so doc + i decided to just leave it there.
That is now routine, Crossy.
Well, I am past halfway, so time for breakfast, shower and then the XC-ski trails!
yes,non invasive is best
thanks scrabbler. i kinda figured that would be the news, but i was hoping you might have some magical suggestion. ;)
Eva, I will speak to my pals at Hogwarts. They may have some curative id4-s.
Hey all
see you next time scrabs... Mother agrees with the wisdom of the babble community btw... prepare for great anger and despair. *sad mama look*
((stidmama)) whats the matter?..tell ole crossy...
Better now than later. There is a difference between helping and enabling. He must learn to be accountable to to solve his problems, including asking for help.
Bye kids!
oh cross, it's "tough love" time for the elder stidkid who didn't pay a fee for an activity he said he wanted to do. When combined with the fact that preparing for the activity will take time away from completing a (required for graduation) senior project... *sigh* *very sad mama look*
tough love can be hard but bears good fruit and a strong tree later on
ultra-compounding is that I WILL go pay for the younger kid's participation in the same activity because he didn't have the same "lead time" to get things arranged (the band director doesn't always make sure he has everyone's attention before speaking I think)
thanks cross. I really hope so.
get done what must be done, the fun time activities must wait..so sorry
but ease the pain after the project with something fun
yep. there's a lot of "reality" waiting for him out there. I just hope we're all strong enough for it.
really really want NBT before I pack up and head to the college. any help on the E in the second row?
prepare for print
thanks kallia!
hi all
yw
figures it would be a fish... LOL halfway and NBT in one blow!
and the person who does it
howdy kallia
thanks cross!
how funny - that's EXACTLY what i'm supposed to be doing at work right now....
:)
lolpinny
but i'm babbling at my desk for the first time ever (shhhh... don't tell on me)
hey pinny! I should be doing the stuff that precedes the ed 4... LOL (but instead I am worrying about what to do for the kiddo)
we never tell pinny..we are all part of the same addiction lol
well pinny, a "first" time for everything? *conspiratorial mama look*
as a recent kid, i give the same advice the others did - sometimes we just have to suck things up
anyone got the 10?
down to 29 and no 8s or 10 yet
no, but will be bff with the person who clues it (at least until I need another clue)....

Bye Kallia!
lets see: NBT? check! NBS? check! halfway? check!
well done EvaN!!!
have a small question about your feet...
Woot!
my feet?
how tall are these heels that you can no longer wear?
you said you have a bone spur (owie) and I was wondering if some of the lower heels that I have seen would meet your need for elegance without making your feet miserable
any height, sadly. but i would guess that most are between 2" and 3.5-4" i dont have many that are crazy high, most are on the lower end.
I have some lovely new boots Mother bought me that have a 1" heel but looks like some of the crazy heels.
i do have 2 pairs that are kitten heels and those dont bother me SO much, but sometimes even those are tough on my ankles.
oh. bummer.
well, just the one ankle.
I tried wearing some more elegant shoes for teaching in the fall, and that didn't do nice things for the plantar fasciitis. So I went back to more sensible shoes.
its like, at some point, it just sorta forgot how to do its job...
Can hardly wait to show off these boots! LOL
physical therapy?
to be honest, though, i found the kitten hells awkward to walk in, even before the ankle issue.
i will probably have to look into it. im too young to never be able to wear heels again!
then don't use those heels. they don't look that comfortable to me. *sigh*
well, a word of caution from "beyond" -- my grandmother who was a young adult in the 1920s wore those fashionable shoes as a young woman and suffered from bunions as an adult. don't sacrifice future mobility for fashion today!
I try to have a pair of sneakers to slip into no matter what. Never know when that fasciitis stuff will rear its ugly head.
Gots to get the little ones ready for school. BBL!
later car!
im technically not allowed to wear sneakers at work. i do commute in comfy shoes + really, 95% of the time i spend with heels on my feet it spent sitting down. but even just a trip to the loo is hard now. that just doesnt seem right.
at least up here the office ladies get a break as they are impossible to wear outside in the winter .so they just leave the heels at the office.i can imagine where the is no snow and you ladies clip clop around in them all day long;(
lol even our ladies of the evening wear kodiak boots lol
not me cross! LOL I have a couple fancy shoes that I wear occasionally to concerts at the symphony and such. But not for work. When I did work in a very public office I wore "hush puppy" or "munro" brand shoes which were professional-looking but sensible/comfy
rofl cross! and parkas?
when it is -30,micro skits and spandex is a no-go stid mama
true... *considers whether spangles on parkas are a good thing....*
no matter how many times I try it, "read" is not in the grid. I think that's my cue to go make some lunch and take care of all those things that I must accomplish.
i think you get a quick flash of the "goods" and everything is bundled up again..then you both say to hell with it go go insude a warm tim hortons for coffee instead
back later. (have 1.5 hour lunch on Fridays!!!) thanks for the help, the support, the advice, and the listening. *many hugs and choclits* *poof*
Can i have a hint for the 8 that isn't a loud room full of people?
di 8 - take away the past tense of the di 10
I have that one;
pa 8/60 Mark
pa 8 - pa 4/5 + silent minus middle vowel
not seeing the silent part of that clue
You probably yell this at the top of your voice to your children!
sssssssh, ruru.. be *****
someone who is being silent is being qu 5/16 but remove the middle vowel
hi Babblers.. down to 25 and stuck
oh.. didn't see how to reach that.. thanks
hi all
ooh, found one more. hi peri
hi peri
Aloy, the Arugula and White Bean Soup was a big disappointment. not thick enough. I would puree or mash some or all of the beans if I were to make it again. also I would not use red pepper flakes, alsmot chocked to death on them :(
geez, can't type today, but you get the idea
oh, thumbs down on that one, then! fixed a wonderful broccoli cream soup last night
I always puree some of the beans + a little white potatoes to thicken a soup without cream
that sounds good, Aloy
good idea, ty ruru
cold night here, gotta have soup
love a thick soupd
me too
do you just cut up the potatoes
?
I steam them and chop them and then whip them up in the cuisinart with a little of the soup stock
I just diced one potato and put it in with the onions and broccoli, added a nice texture
potato is a necessary ingredient for bean soups I think
dicing sounds easier but both ideas are good
now you tell me :)
the red pepper should be added when you are sauteeing the onions I bet.. to have tehem integrate better
A little bit of chili flakes go a lonnnnng way
the red pepper was added when I was sauteeing the garlic. but I will just eliminate it
indeed
mihgt just add some kind of hot saude instead but a little bit of it
sure you can use black or white pepper to get the same flavor without the hear
heat
sauce even
maybe you could use La. hot sauce instead
made split pea soup last night and added leftover meat from pork roast instead of the ham i usually use - didn't taste as good but was passable
lol we are typing challenged today peri
love split pea soup
is there such a thing as whole pea soup?
doubt it
pea soup is one that I do not care for, altho have not had it in a long time
<---- makes a killer split pea soup
I am getting hungry
brb
maybe I would like you pea soup ruru, care to mail me some :)
mmmmm split pea soup
i never put potatoes in my bean soup though
is the soup thick enough tho jmc?
i have one of those hand held blade thingies that blend things together and i just do that until I am ready
i sometimes put potatoes in the split pea soup - haven't tried it in bean soup but will try it next time
or i add a little flour to oil and make a roue
I have one of those too and have never used it
well, I just typed a whole message in the add a word box :)
going to have some lunch, back later
jmc, did you get any snow?
lol i have done that peri
no not a drop
but i am cold
snow there?
not a lot of potato.. just one medium one..
i'll work up the recipe peri.
could anyone be as kind as to help me with pa8
sounds like the little caged bird dodge
Pa 4 + most of not noisy
pa**chute + what a librarian wants you to be, minus a vowel
I'm really stuck again today
Thanks very much :)
thought I was stuck, ruru.. went to the list.. and found I missed a bunch of fishy babblets, like ra4.4, so look closely.. maybe you are not as stuck as you think you are (-:
all done now.. off to get rid of ugly blackened foliage in the "flower" garden.. tired of looking at it.. Happy Babbling, see you next grid.. poof

Hello everybody :-)
Hello Soodle!
hi Soodle
More snow here..... I am getting mighty fed up of it now! Hows the weather where you guys are? Are you affected by the flooding, Lynn?
It actually just began snowing about 3 minutes ago! We are looking forward to a fresh coat!
Hello babblers! How is everything on the Babble front?
Hi Mark! Nice icon!
Thanks, car! How is the grid for you?
No thats up North Soodle, I'm down the bottom. We are heading for a temp of 33/34 today - whew, all sweaty!
Hiya Mark. Oh my, Car! You like the cold white stuff?
hi Mark
Lynn.... you have no idea how I envy you and your sweaty weather!
Hey soodle and lynxxx. It is snowing now right in the midwest!
I've been popping in and out all day. 49 to go.
I am sure Ireland has many many attractions - just not at the moment
Yes, Soodle, I do like the snow!
Erm, Lynn.... could you remind me of the attractions of this country.....?
Where in the US are you, Car?
Just South of Boston...and down the street from Trif!
green, pubs, lovely looking people, beautiful accents, music, humour
Oh right. Thank you. I had forgotten!!!
We have a small hill in our backyard and the kids just LOVE sledding down it!
Oh, Boston. I would love to visit Mass. Its on my wish list, but I think I will visit during the the summer!
Hi all
Actually, the fall is an excellent time to visit!
I am just stuck. I don't even have 60 words! Hey jmc!
you will feel somewhat at home in Boston soodle but i think you would find the summer warm
add ed to everything you have mark
JMC - I can do heat! I love heat. I love sunshine. I miss heat and sunshine.
See, early fall is good then. Warm days, cool nights.
soodle you live where people pass out at 80 degrees F!
er 30 degrees C
hi jmc!
That happens the wimpy people, JMC. I was in Egypt a few years ago, when the temperature was 55 degrees. Even the Egyptians were flaking out, and I loved every minute of it!
Ugh...off again...bbl!
See ya car!
well there you go soodle!
I freeze in the summer in New England
Bye car, take care.
bye car
I must run, gotta take aStew for a walk b4 it gets too hot. Bye all!
bye lynxxx!
OK. See you later lynxxx!
Jmc, that helped me with about 3 words.
Just watching the news.. a woman in Kerry had her third baby on Jan 3rd. Her first baby was born Jan 3rd 2007, and her second baby was born Jan 3rd 2009. Now, thats what I call family planning!
well there you go mark--and you remembered to plural yes?
WOW nobody gets their own day in that family!
I think so. I will try a couple more.
are you sure you PT EVERYTHING even ti5?
Do you need a clue Mark? I wire-forked a while ago.....
Hi Soodle, jmc
Currently I have the 10 and need one of the 8s.
hi bichon
pa8 and di8
Hiya Bichon :-)
Is the pa8 related to the 7?
Mark, the other 8 is PA 8, and is a type of flooring, using the high scoring tile....
the pa is symilar if not the same things as a complicated wood floor
there are three pa7s
I have the one that is pa + cons+ a television ** + vowel.
the first one is an event held on thanksgiving in NYC
Anyway, I have to go now. I have to go record a song at a friend's house. See y'all!
The second two o PA 7s have the same first 6 letters, if thats any help, Mark
have fun mark
Sing your heart out, Mark!
Bichon, I know I'm bordering on the obsessed now, but whats the weather like in Conneticut right now?
I am in CA [Bay Area for grandchild's birthday]. I got a call from my daughter who is very cross with me because I just missed this. I think there'll be about 6-7" [not something to panic about]. But, he did have to drive home in thi mess
I think I have discovered a new medical condition... closely related to OCD, but my version is OWD. Obsessive Weather Disorder.
lol soodle
For that reason Soodle, they invented The Weather Channel. I have the same disorder
i have been commenting the people who survived snowmaggedon in DC last year are suffering from PTSD--post traumatic snow drama
Oooh. Now I am seriously jealous. I love CA. I hope you are having a wonderful time there. By Bay Area, I presume your in San Fransisco?
Yes, San Mateo, about 10 miles south of SF. It was 42 outside this AM when we took the kiddies to the park. Pretty chilly. But, the sun is out this afternoon so it's much nicer
SNOWMAGGEDON. PTSD Oh thank you JMC. Now I have a technical name for my condition. Thank you thank you thank you.
At least in our town in CT, they do a great job of snow clearing
snowmaggedon is what we call the 4 feet of snow+4 feet of snow+white out conditions and 2 feet of snow we had here last year soodle
My m.i.l. moved from Miami to Richmond a few years back to be closer to her son the doctor. I don't think she's very happy about that deciion
which richmond? va?
yes, one and the same
they do a rather poor job of clearing the roads and the sidewalks there. For omeone who's turning 87, that's not too great
there is also a richmond indiana and texas and probably some other states
no it is really hard being in a place without the infrastructure to deal with snow
well, I mentioned Richond caue it's 100 miles south of you.
pa 8/60...?
Is that the same Richmond that was frequently mentioned in The Waltons?
i have monkeyed till the monkies quit
i actually spend more time in Richmond IN because it is a quaker college town, but I understand
I can't imagine living in an apartment complex where the snow isn't cleared out of the parking lot and the walks. What is she paying rent for?
it is an intricant wood floor sammy
that definitely sucks bichon and she should complain
Use the high scoring tile, Sammysmom....
I think she has complained jmc. I can't imagine that happening in the town we live in. If people complained to the city, they would clear it, charge the owner and them fine him.
Bichon, my mother also has a 'My Son The Doctor'.... IF he was drowning in the ocean, I am convinced she would yell....'Oh somebody, please save my son..THE DOCTOR'!!!
if it were me i would hire someone to clear it and deduct it from my rent and let them take me to court over it.
but that is me
Her son, her d.i.l., their daughter and daughter's husband are all doctors. Helpful when you are 87
jmcnrick THE LAWYER!!! lol
Soodle, the disappointment! LOL
I'm with you mc, but this is her. She's not big one wto make waves
THANKS FOR THE PA 8
lol yw
yeh that whole generation is a "I don't want to make a fuss crowd" my mother included
Yes, it's unladylike to make a fuss
My mother, bless her, reckons that as she put 2 of her offspring through medical college, by some sort of osmosis has an honorary degree in medicine. She dispenses advice and medicines to her cronies, who, alarmingly, actually listen to her. Its terrifying.....
Oy, Soodle
"if it were me i would hire someone to clear it and deduct it from my rent and let them take me to court over it"...this is why I have big love for JMC.
lol you like to imagine me kicking a&%!
Hello Molly (((())))
I have great respect for anyone who makes "the system" work for them. Heya Soodle.
imagine the landlord in court arguing that an 87 year old lady shouldn't have cleared the sidewalks after a snow
i don't always succeed but i do have fun trying molly
hi all
Hey, it's the trying that counts. Hey TO.
Hello TO. Nice to see you :-)
hi TO
no molly i vastly prefer to win!
*puts on "we will rock you" on the stereo loud*
Don't we all, JMC, don't we all.?............
you would love my auto case
WE WILL WE WILL ROCK YOU. . . oops sorry i get carried away
yes TO?
Buddy you're a boy make a big noise Playin' in the streets gonna' be a big man some day You got mud on yo' face You big disgrace Kickin' your can all over the place
yes! we will we will rock you rock you!
WE WILL, WE WILL, ROCK YOU
lol great song
if you are going to get a song caught in your head that is a good one!
holy crap, this grid is awful! aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
add ed to everything in sight TO
Happy to clue if required, TO....
ok i have added ed to every word i have and none took!
it is a toughie, so many A and r To.
really okay do you have the crown?
hi red
Hiya Red :-)
ok going to take dinner out of the microwave
Om nom nom... a ding dinner.
Ah, I do love 5 dollar rotisserie chicken night at Giant.
there is a very nice frozen lazagne i buy
Molly, I am intrigued... How the heck did you know about Nollaig Beag?
Brand name please JMC.
yum i eat all the hot chicken skin and use the rest for sandwiches the rest of the week
uh. . . brb
Soodle, my grandfather came over in the early 1900'
er, soodle....
Oh so sorry, the puppy jumped up on me
LOL
But, Molly, htat
But, Molly, htat
But, Molly, htat
Down puppy!
Okay, weird. Anyway, my grandfather came over in the early 1900's. There is a rich Irish legacy in my family. Granda played the accordion, and became a cop in Boston. Oh, and he was a raging drunk. But he did pass along some Irish legacy. Like the term blatherskyte.

I so 4/4 of think people might need a story so here it is.My dog is a very ad5/14able dog. We got him when he was seven months and he ad7/40 to his new home very easily. My dog was not fully house trained when we got him so we needed to ai4/5 him with that. As a puppy, he was not a qu 5/16 dog, but he has qu 7/44 down since then. When he was a puppy he ra6/24 my closet and would te 4/4 up my shoes. He does not do that anymore, but he's still very enthusiastic. He will play ball with you for hours w/such ar5/12. He loves to roll around in the di4/5. My dog likes to sit&watch TV w/me. My dog will sit next to me on the ed 4/7 of the sofa and dr5/14 one of his legs over mine.My dog does not like the id4/5 of sleeping late. I have to get up early&get my butt in ge4/7 to take him on a walk. My dog doesn't have a bad od4/5 which is good since I really hate dogs that smell.Once my dog marched in a Halloween dog pa 6/24. He pa7/40 up and down the street like he was the king of the world. My dog won a rewa4/9 for wearing the best costume. My dog was rewa6/36 with a free grooming appointment. My dog also likes to sit in the passenger si4/5 of the car and listen to music on the ra5/12 as he ri 4/5s in the car This is the end of my story. My de4/5 husband wants the computer. If I do not give it to him,he will go on a tir5/12 and cause a ri 4/4 and will not qu4/7 until he gets his way.I really do think his mind is wa6/36 with his addiction to Farmville.Usually I don't give a do4/5 about his antics, but I'm tired. (parakeet river)

my aunt and uncle lived in fairhaven when i was a kid, i used to spend summers with them
my aunt and uncle lived in fairhaven when i was a kid, i used to spend summers with them
so sorry for car troubles wildcat - that sucks - been there - hoping for a car free winter for once
dont know where fairhaven is - will google - brb
yeah well it hasn't happened often with mine so I'm not too stressed. plus I have a friend who will do it for half the price the auto shop wanted
holy cow wild, what a mess : (
woodstock vt is near rutland, close to fair haven @ 4 - 4 1/2 hours. My aunt worked at the college in rutland, spent a lot of time in that area
google doesnt recognize fairhaven - go figure....went to rutland not long ago for work - loved driving through woodstock - thats why I mentioned it - didnt have the chance to stop
rutland is about 3 hours from here
it is a little town, i haven't been there in years and years
they are all little towns in Vermont but very quaint with very neat little shops to poke through ( and I am not a true shopper) but love it
wouldnt it be fun to find someone new to go to a new place to venture and explore that neither has been - ahh, just think about it....
i have cousins in NH, went to their wedding can't for the life of me remember the town they live in
river, how is your son, i remember how worried we all were, e has made a full recovery?
off to bed for me, see you alll tomorrow
yes Keith is great - full recovery after 2 heart surgeries this summer - played soccer for his school team - captain even - this fall - now snowboarding every day he can - cant stop that boy - he is a wonder

HI Nan. Jill They are usually quiet. It is too hot. I say a water fight has happened

Yay nana, just in time!
I mean nan
Ah, herin, it's winter here, of course.
*pops in* hi all :o)
howdy, dfm
Hi DF
Well my brain is friedd
or may I say, in an old fashioned way, "Hao bu hao"?
I mean pu hao (can't type)
but it was pronounced bu
If it had been pronounced pu it would have been written p'u
(Wade-Giles transliteration), replaced by PinYin
Congratulations cybernan on fireworks! Good for you
I prefer IPA, or the HK standardised pronunciation symbols. ;o)
Hi dfmchfhf! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
And I am off again have fun
Any guesses for the next grid size?Mine is 113 words.
I'm afraid to ask about your/jilli's icons...

Her icon is for next icon theme: male watchers day.
