I hope and trust so :)
and are you well?
I'm OK, getting a little sleepy though. It is still very cold here. I didn't get out of the house.
I hope things will improve soon for you. Staying indoors can be nice when it is by choice, but not when it is by force.

:)
ANd with that, the other token Paddy arrives..... Hi everybody!
Allez les bleus!
Back in 5 need more tea. Hi Soodle.
Hey soodle

((((Rubes))))
You new on here,m Sanch?
{{soodles}}
yeah, it's my 3rd or 4th day.
uh oh, are you hooked yet?
Be careful. This is very addictive!
Yes, completely hooked!
It's too late soodle!
who, moi, hahahah
LOL!!
Hi sanch, Ireland has been described as a beautiful frame around a dull picture = what are your thoughts on that?
PS I have been there twice and loved everything I saw, coastal and inland
oooh, that's cold, sara. it is beautiful there with wild fuschia along the roads and black-faced sheep and GREEN!
Not my thoughts - something I read
SaraY - Whoever said that clearly has not been mixing in the right circles!! LOL
I'm from a dull inland county so...I can't help but agree!
I'm from a dull inland county so...I can't help but agree!
we need to have a babble meet in Ireland -- anything to get away from here!
It was actually an intro from that popular travel publication whose name I have temporarily forgotten
Ireland for dummies?
hahah
I have been campaigning for an Irish Babble meet for years now! Whereabouts are you sanch?
ruby, pick a place - I will be there!
From limerick, living in cork city. And you?
now if I could just get rid of DH!!! hahah
Originally a Dub, but living in Trim for past 20 years.
speaking of whom, I had better go.... see you later
Never been to Trim, is it nice?
one short of half
half, yay
My brother, sister-in-law and niece lived in Dublin for 2 years and loved it - he was Professor of Australian History at University College. They even brought back a bump who was born in Canberra - Naoise Dublin by name
Its ok. Woo-hoo Rubes...wtg!!
used the Fr word for concrete lol
There's a french hat in there too!
pronounced how?
missed that will, ty
and a fr climbing tool
Neesha - but an Irish name in legend
nice name
my friends from Dub are all Gaelic speakers; their daughter even teaches it
Naoise is a lovely name. I know a Naoise, and I am very fond of her.
Some Irish spellings are pretty odd to outsiders. I've a friend named Sadhbh
One of my brother's students in Dublin was Naoise and he loved it from then. The legendary story is about Naoise and Deirdre - google will probably reveal all if you are interested
pronounced?
My Naoise is my nephew
Sive
!!
Oh?... must be one of those unisex names! I have a friend called Padraig, (pronounced Paw-Rick) - its the Irish for Patrick, and you should hear what he gets called.....
Must get back to this grid - still 81 to go!
Pad-Rag was about the funniest....
Saint padrag's day..doesn't really have the same ring to it!
am getting fed up with typing non words :(
Hi FM :-)
Morning.
Its hi & bye.... I owe, I owe, so its off to work I go.... Poof
Have a good day.
laters!
It is pouring down again and so dark and grey. <---- longs for a bit of blue sky and sun.

It is not so eary Kallia but still intersting.
*easy even!
ta for that FM...
you know I didn't even notice you'd typed that wrong lol
it's so miserable here this morning...really dark and wet!
hello there sanch.....you new?
Yeah just joined a couple of days ago, already fairly addicted!
lol...there's a surprise. You either hate it right away or get addicted...not much middle ground
It doesn't take long sanch and then you will be fully hooked.
Morning all......blue sky and sunshine here today....dunno for how long tho'!
te8 - enter a French hat backwards, three quarters of a Hawaiian goose brings up the rear. And that's my contribution for the day.
It started with playing scrabble online which turned out to be a gateway to harder games!
morning Flask and Haz
Good morning Haz and Flask!
Good morning/evening to all.
Great clue Haz as ever :)
Thanks haz!
You're welcome. It's an expectorant but I didn't think giving 'expectorant' as a clue would get you too far.
well it is a great clue....Haz's always are...but my brain is still asleep I think :)
Go to the recesses of your brain to remember the Hawaiian goose babblet - ne**.
Absolutely! mind you I was well please to have found the g8 by myself but would never have found that t8 w/o help.
got that bit lol...it will keep for later when I've had more coffee
there are some hawaiian geese in gloucestershire at the moment
at Slimbridge?
In the uncalved cows' weighlifting contest, the he7/44 he6/30 would probably win.
Ata!!!!!!!!!! the wanderer returns :)
I suppose they're easily spotted with those loud shirts and shades.
LOL
yep, slimbridge
love that place
been soooo busy at work. and I can't stay now, I just wanted to say hello :) Am going off to a friend's farm to meet her 10 week old border collie pup
LOL Haz....wonderful mind picture!
Ah Ata is no longer a lady of leisure and has no time for her babble buds :(
no so much time :(
Pass the tissues, please.
Who can compete with a border collie pup?
not us lot for sure :)
no-one, bet it is sooo sweet and waggy
I know. It'll be cute and intelligent.
it's adorable! let me find a pic ...
It probably herds toy sheep already.
hi/bye Ata Your macro photography is wonderful/v. interesting of late
Hello Haz, FM & Kallia
Hello Lynx
found 2 birds in the grid so far too. Hi lynxxx!
She has time to do macro photography but no time for us. When are those tissues getting here?
Hello, lynxxx.
http://tinyurl.com/46x7skv
only when I'm out on the beach for work!
*passes bg box of tissues*
Kleenex Balsam?
of course.
not the Aloe Vera one?
Oh Ata he is adorable!
That pup is the epitome of all that a border collie should be. Bright, intelligent, cute. (Don't anybody look in the mirror, it's too depressing a comparison)
The Balsam one suits me fine, thanks, lynxxx.
and she doesn't stay still , hence the dodgy photo!
Haz I am worried about you as you are using the 'cute' word.
and think of the walking! but very cute
and she'll be trained as my friend's other dogs are, to be a working sheepdog
hi back again cant sleep tks for the te/8 haz
Sorry! But lynxxx is as well.
gorgeous
You're welcome,diem.
hi diem
hi Kallia and all i did not say hi to before
the dogs don't need walking lynx :) They're out in the fields half the day dealing with the sheep
Excellent! there is a young one in a back yard here and he has worn tracks around the backyard
finally worked out the te...thanks Haz
hi Diem
Hi FMitch: there is at least one other bird too archaic spelling
she has 3 sheepdogs and a non-working terrier thing
You're welcome, Kallia.
Hello, scouser.
thing?!so not keen on terriers then Ata?
It's not a Bedlington terrier?
Hi scouser
no Haz - thats a sheep!
It would get mixed up with the sheep and cause all sorts of problems.
I mean a terrier-type-heinz57-type-dog-thing!
Hello Haz and FMitch . Is it a canine morning?
lol lynxxx, they are a funny looking breed.
I do dislike Bedlingtons though
We got onto the subject of dogs because Ata prefers to visit one than to talk to us.
Look at this link scouser Ata is off to visit this sweetie: http://tinyurl.com/46x7skv
We're not miffed in the slightest.
you're only miffed cos you can't see the sweetie too!
No, not miffed at all, we don't care about being upstaged by a black and while waggy bundle of kisses. Not at all.
I'll take lots of photos!
Will you take a photo of us to show the pup? Say we were asking after him?
Not quite sure what Hobbit will think of the black and while waggy bundle of kisses
Well I'll be ... there really are 109 words in the grid today but they did take some finding.
Girl pup. She's called Tess.
And it's a he, I've just checked back. And you've answered my next question.
Well done, FM!
It's a she. Sorry!
very well done - Congrats FM
congrat FM....still not convinced they are there though lol
yep, little girl pup. Yay FM!
erne
Right, I'm going to be all disciplined and head off. Nice to see you all and have a good day - bye for now!
oops sorry.

Toodles Haz, have a good day!
bye Haz
bye Haz
Bye!
bye haz
Thanks kallia, you just pushed me over the halfway line!
Hi Atalante: my granddaughter (18 months) shares house with two cats, and three dogs of which two are pups just starting to stagger about. The male pup is three times the size of the female. Some type of stocky terriers.
awwww :)
I am off to be domesticated now. Byee
bye scouser
gosh, why is everone being domesticated today?
I'm off to...over half way
bye scouser
I'm not - too humid ugh
bye Kallia
not going to be domesticated ATa....going to sort my work room
that's good :)
and kallia
see if I can possibly make more space, and find all the things I know I have somewhere lol
lol I know that feeling Kallia
me too
Time for me to take a break and 'do stuff' too. Happy Babbling!
I'm now going to abandon you all to go and spend time with the cute wiggly thing!
bye FM

yep hi lil :)

i usually leave for work about now, but we have training today, so we go in 1/2 late

i'm sure you will straighten her right out, cheeky!
it was lovely and hot but we don't like sharm el sheikh very much.it actually rained the day we left which we've never seen before and it flooded loads of places.we had to be moved to another terminal at the airport as the rain was coming through the ceiling and also the runway was getting flooded
she just ignores me!
that's crazy!
they're mot used to the rain. no gutters or drains
i mean, the rain in egypt is crazy.... it's not so crazy that Morgan ignores you, I think that's normal for a pre-te4
i new what you meant...lol

hello carlee
i am proudly an Ophiuchus and not afraid to say it :)
What star sign is that then, Carlee?
{{zzoozz}}
sounds like a snake sign....
its a man with a snake....a healer
((Ruby))
also caller serpentarius
A healer..that sound good!
we need those, that's for sure!
Very true, Ruby.
In Mythology Ophiuchus is identified with the healer Asclepius, son of Apollo, who became so skilled that he brought the dead back to life. Hades later convinced Zeus to kill Asclepius with a lightning bolt. After he died he was then placed in the stars as a constellation.
An Interpreter of dreams, who attracts good luck and fruitful blessings. Holds lofty ideals and is a seeker of peace and harmony. Inventive in nature, with expanding qualities. will often seek higher education and wisdom and can end up as an overseer, or supervisor of work. Can rise to fame – either grand, or completely misunderstood. Tends to enjoy longevity and has aspirations of healing the ills of man.
Will reach for the stars, figuratively and literally. For many a large family is indicated, but apt to be separated from them when young. The number twelve holds great significance. Has foresight and good fortune to benefit from hard times. Has secret enemies in family or close associations, with many jealous of this subject
that is really interesting, carlee.
Often thought of as apple of father’s eye when young. High position in life expected [depending on aspects]. Highest fame and legend often does not come until after death. In general can be wise, even a genius mentality. Likes to wear clothing of vibrant colors, and plaids in particular and often receives the favor of those in authority
I assume yo got the op6/24?

yw :-)
its the time of the year eva....try and get out for a walk at lunch..you might feel better....get some daylight
M9 a bit like infinite.

Ooo, long silk underwear sounds comfy.
ty zooz. now I am an Aquarius. hmm.
my daughter was a leo..now she is a cancer
What the hell is Ophiuchus???
LOL! Pisces! I always have read Aries & Pisces, being in between the two, and always felt Pisces suited me more!!!!!
I was Aquarius now a Capricorn.
my dXh is what i used to be....saggitarius
was just going to ask that Molly
i refuse to switch from aquarius. i yam what i yam and thats all that i yam.
ophiuchus suits me more too...
I'm with you Eva
I was always on the cusp and read both aquarius and pisces and alwasy felt I was more pisces too, car
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ophiuchus _%28astrology%29
In Mythology Ophiuchus is identified with the healer Asclepius, son of Apollo, who became so skilled that he brought the dead back to life. Hades later convinced Zeus to kill Asclepius with a lightning bolt. After he died he was then placed in the stars as a constellation.
{{Peri}}
No, no, no...very bad that they have added a 13th sign. Very bad.
thats supposedly part of what has the world ending in 2012. the 13ths sign of the zodiac. yknow, according to all those rumors...
did ont notice that there are now 13 signs. do not think that is a good omen
there are only 6 days to be a Scorpio? I have been a scorpio for 53 years and now I have to go to a virgo!!!!!
blame it on the moon molls... they ( scientists..whomever )... say the moons gravitational pull has caused the earth to wobble slightly fromt he orbit that the earth was in during the times when the zodiac was first established
good morning
Molly...maybe they are just trying to throw off the Mayan calendar, so the world won't come to an end next year. LOL!!!
oh dear, the world is ending next year :(
Hello ((MoM))
oh heck..they also say the mayan calendar was off and already really ended
Good Morning ((Mom))

Carlee...what ever happened with your son's friend?
my house was under renovations... then he had his accident..then he started working on them again..then he left... so the house is unsaleable atm i have good one sideed plywood flooring...
not finding the te8
hmmm..which one car.ee?..refresh my memory
te8 used in medicine chiefly as an expectorant.
He had left home due to abusive / drunk parents...and may have been heading your way.
i had one that had the flu here when the storm was on...
oh..never showed up... he went to gf's house ( with her parents there)
Ok. Just wanted to follow up.
i didnt think he would show up..but..if he did...i wanted to be prepared :)
argh is too a word, Charlie Brown says it all the time
If i type "befit" one more time....ARGH!
lol Car
lol
Actually, I think when Charlie says it, it has a few extra letters in it!
i keep typing apon...
that's true Car

cat om

I monkeyed the te8, ty zooz

i have a cat on my ass..digging in her claws
yw :-)
I keep trying harpoon
did not know the def know, now I do :)
and apparently i need to clip her claws as they are little needles
eww..LOL, Carlee.
one could say i am rather tingly atm..but not in a good way
or even Harpooner, Deeha..lol
clue for te6/21, anyone?
poo - - down to 37 left and still dont have NBT
some people would pay a lot of money for some kitty acupuncture
Mom, I agree, "argh" is a word. So is "poot". Ask any five-year-old. : D
what do you need River?
Hi Grant and NB
sorry Grant, I don't have it
middle column E - I just havent wanted to list yet
hi mom
good morning all
Molly, I tried poot as well
te + letter then most of the gr5
there are two e's in the middle, which one, River?
good morning WVteach
well..they cant have my kitty... she's very shy actually... she likes me down on the sofa so she can cuddle with me...she wont comeup to the bedroom at night as the other 2 hiss at her
Hello, Teach.
upper one peri
Why do the other two hiss at her?
eg4 maybe, sounds like someone really interested in something
Te6 te + most of gr5
awww, Carlee! we're lucky that our three get along very well. Lola, as the only girl in the flat, is boss...
maybe an et6/21, River
Whatever Lola wants...Lola gets...
I have the eg
the et6 ends in charged particle
must be the et - will look
the only girl I'll ever love. *clasps heart*
lol, NB
tellie is just shy... the others are more playful..and agressive when they play...boo is our alpha...and she is just bold as brass here i come...watch me now "toddler"
got it - thanks
yvw
thats NBT - will go make breakfast now and rest eyes - bbl - have fun all
1/2 way, bbl
See, I know nothing about cats. I thought when they hissed it was because they didn't like something.
Bye, River & Peri :-)
et
usually when cats hiss it means you got about 10 seconds to stop what you're doing...or else feel the claws
we rarely have cat fights...the more agressive want to play chase..then tells hisses cus she doesnt want to play...
our youngest is the playful one...the other two just kind of roll their eyes as he bounces off them
good morning all. Happy Friday
Hello, Boo :-)
That's what I thought NB. I couldn't figure out why Carlee's other two cats don't like the small one.
they just dont....
this grid is icky
hmm it looks it
ok...so one who poos is not a pooer?
Nope, and one who poots is not a pooter either.
phooey
toddling off to get ingredients for my dinner tonight..then get dressed and head to grocery store to get the other stuffs i need
Bye, Carlee.
When I worked in a school we used to use a little pot to collect insec ts in called a pooter but that isnt allowed
what's for dinner? need ideas
Hi. :)
Deeha, if you look up pooter, that is the definition given. It's just Enable being a oblivious again.
good morning cgw8
Hello, Cgw8 :-)
:DD
hi cgw8
How's the grid today?
its sticky
D:
oops tricky
xD
harder than it first looked - slow going
it is sticky tricky.
i am doing loaded baked potatoes...and some pulled bbq chicken to go over top...side salad...served with chocoalte milkshakes (my kids current craving) and sex in the pan for dessert
Ugh, I'm never gonna finish. :(
sounds good - but what is "sex in the pan"
I thought you didn't do loaded bakeds because of the bacon thing.
Ok 6 more to find, back later.
turkey bacon molls :)
•1 cup flour •1/2 cup butter or margarine •3/4 cup chopped pecans •1 (8oz) package cream cheese, softened •1 cup confectioners' sugar •1 tub whipped topping, 32 ounces •2 package (4oz) pistachio instant pudding (or any combination of puddings - divide milk in half to use for each flavour - layers if different kinds) •3 cups cold milk Preparation: Combine flour, butter and pecans and press into a 9x13x2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Cool in pan on rack. Combine cream cheese and confectioners' sugar and spread over pecan mixture. Spread half of the whipped topping over the cream cheese layer. Mix both packages of pistachio together with milk. Spoon evenly over the whipped topping; spread until layer is even. Spread remaining whipped topping on top and sprinkle with shaved semisweet chocolate or mini chocolate chips.
instead of pistachio... i do choc fudge and butterscotch
thanks for the recipe - sounds really good - will definitely try it
we like pistachio, so will probably try it with that
I am hungry now.
carlee, wanna have sex in a pan with me? ;)
clue for be 4/7
Oh well then. If you do turkey bacon, you could try Mom's loaded potato soup.
girls name boo
I'm sorry to interrupt all this deliciousness, but I'm off for a bronchoscopy ;) just as sexy as it sounds - behave yourselves in my absence.
*peck on the cheek for NB*
good luck NB
Our Babbler with the parrot. : D

Happy Friday, Babblers
hi aloy
hi Aloy, same to you
hi aloy
interesting grid today.. e's galore, eeeee
someone called it sticky, good description
are the two gr 8s related?
only one gr8 and one te
ty.
te8
ty Annie..
youre welcome
realted to the te7?
I dont have the te7, sorry
have a te6 but no te 7 ei6
Owl, there is no te 7
sorry
the te8 is not related to the te 6's
ok, ty Annie, I will stop trying to extend the te6
want a clue?
is it toward the top or bottom?
i keep seeing integer
the te 8 goes down
ok.. ty..
Hi folks
The te8 goes down and up and more!
te8 goes down 3, diagonally up (to the right)1, up 1,right 1, down 2
hello scouser
hi scouser
lol.. see what you mean scouser
that made me dizzy
Hello Temple Owl. We certainly need facility with chemical names for these puzzles
finally found it.. not an everyday word!
roller coaster word, ty Annie
going to chekc the dryer, bbs
Not a wordy answer, but a woody extract one!
It is related to a much more common chem tu10
I have found another non-Enable word in here: greb, which is normally used in the plural here as grebs meaning nasty floaty things seen in beer!
all these e's and not an s to see
Yep - made a difficult grid
ugh.. grebs
often used in "grebs and wickies" I have no idea about the distinction, but it was definitely cause for going back to the bar to get a change of beer.
Sometimes, finding words in these grids, reminds me of when I was a kid and my friends and I used to make up secret languages. : P
Yes MollyL especially as this grid has -eg in it, which we used as an inserted syllable in our semi-secret language which all us kids used.
you left TO speechless!
hi all
hi jmc :)
well, at least the gr8 is not so weird.. if you think of pencils (-:
hi jm
Hi jmcnrick - does that abbreviate to jmc, or do you have full honours?
no aloyisius but chemicals all the same
either way scous
my "C" key is still sticking
ha
snuffy i was sorry to read about your mother
gotta get the air cleaner out
jmc.. someone else..
my mom died in 1992
i will be forever annoyed that the grid accepts shit and shat but not poot
let me think..
it was une?
*smack* une that is what i get for ready profiles at 1 a.m.
I once dropped a plateful of raspberry Pavlova with cream into my son's keyboard ! Discovered how to put said keyboard under the tap.
what is pavlova? i was reading about it in a story and didn't now
oh dear.. a rum and coke did one of my keyboards in
Hi jmc - go back in the Chatlog and look at what I said this morning about pooters.
Pavlova is meringue cream and fruit sauce.
i was staying at someone's house as an honored speaker and spilled my coffee into their key board
and is it called Pavlova because it makes you salivate, like Pavlova's dogs?
ty scous
lol rasta!
ooch, jmc.. now that is embarassing
No because it looks like a ballerina's tutu when properly arranged - I think. More likely someone dedicated said pud to her.
*sigh* i hear teh solar sales man coming back brb
Keyboards respond quite well to a good wash and then the hairdryer on full speed before anyone notices.
*leaves wondering about arranging a sauce*
Big dispute between Aussies and New Zealand folks about who "invented" Pavlova.
jmc - you stick the meringues together with a gooey sauce and cream.
sounds like an ambitious dessert
lol sine i have no idea what pavola is,it matters not who invented it:)
ambitious and delicious
sorry I forgot to add the fruit as well.
false alarm
*hands sous the fruit*
like vegemite...ewww...lay claim to it if you wish:/
crossy! Happy Friday
beer
oops...off i go....
wd crossy
Pavlova = meringue mixture (egg white and sugar) with the addition of cornflour and vinegar. Bake slowly in a cool oven. Add whipped cream and fruit of choice.
crossy trudges off to pb.. and me to the laundry room, brb
Yes crosshair re vegemite - you gotta hand it to whoever looked in the bottom of the beer-making equipment and thought hmmmm I could use that sludge.
lol
lol scous
oops, it is Haz.. and I to the laundry room? hi Haz
vinegar? It's a sweet'n'sour, then?
lol jmcnrick
piton
No, the vinegar reacts with the cornflour to give a crisp outside and a marshmallowy inside.
no the vinegar makes the bubbles
sorry
Aha - a debate has begun.
ty rasta have you been to the pb before?
back to chemistry lol
what debate
rasta - don't you go to the PB for that?
*opens door to pb for rasta*
we all go there sometimes
I'm confused - pb - peanut butter?
well I suppose rasta will have to have Pavlova in there?
common in rasta,i making fluff cheese and mushroom onlettes
penalty box
(and crossy means come on)
crosshair - you are making me really hungry now
back to find a horde of joiners...
hi TO
Anyone want any clues before I go find foooooood?
i will take a clue for any letter on the fourth row :-(
excactly..what would really make you hungry is i am serving them with cruchy home frieds done in butter with valencia onions and adding a stack of toasted english muffies with home made jam
Oh crosshair - aaaaaah
crossy...king of food porn!
ooo a canadian food is in the grid!
by the way, what's Valencia onions?
back to the pb crossy!
off i go....
now crossy will have to go PB too
they are sweet onions scous
they are a jumbo sweet onion
wine question: pinot girs = pinot grigio?
*wonders about the cost of making a revolving door to the pb*
pinot GRIS = pinot grigio?
if i do take you breakfasts while i am in there it should pay for the door
TO - what language is the rest of the label written in?
yes TO
i don't know, i do not have the bottle
Cross goes to the PB for po4/5. How fitting. : P
pinot gris is pinot grigio
French was it then?
now molly
hi car
no, american
the gris is french..the grigio is italian....same wine...
Hello carleekat
why fitting molly? do you thin k i spend all my life wandering around with a arm up and a leg out? lol
scous you giving up that clue before I have to go to work?
depends upon how you label it
but in English we would not drink wine from grey grapes would we?
what clue?
You might not Id drink grapes of any colour!!!
oh - I see now. about the 4th row
you asked if someone wanted a clue and I said yes anything on the fourth row.
hi deeha
never saw a grey grape
Hi all- narrow that doen a bit JMC
ok..so..chicken is in the slow cooker... i am back from groceries...and now i need to figure out my breakie...
bbl
op4,6 op6,24
how about the far right e on the 4th row
do not feed me grapes, just hand over those distilled grain spirits please 180 proof or better:)
ot5, 12
<passing crossy some misty jack>
I think its the old heron again
mmmmm..mistyjack....
sorry that was a clue for the 3 on 4th row
first e on 4th row ei5,21 et5,12
et5.12 is the old knockout drops or is it gas?
and most of the longer re- words all start from the top r except the chemical one
drops
and the ei5 goes with or
what about the second e in that 4th row
sorry that was meant to be ei6 not ei5 - got dislexy fingers today.
wvteach - that second e is a old bird see previous clue
sorry i got it already and didn'
ee it
thnx for your clues
other birdy starting with e is on top row e
Tataa all
take care scouser
.. back, laundry should dry quickly on the line.. quite a breeze today
man, another smallish grid!
hi red!
The po4/5 comment was a joke folks. Just a joke.
:)
How is everyone doing?
do not worry molly,i am not that sensitive and can laugh at myself with the best of them;)
neither
waiting for warmth, red.. hate these freezing nights
Oh well, heading to PB.
It's pretty terrible down here ALoy, but no snow...
howdy red
oops, red joins the group in the PB
do not worry red,i am living in here today
I jut started.
so have a omlette, grab some home fries, butter up a stack of english muffies and chow down with me
as did i
Taking a survey: What size grid do you prefer?
alrighty corss, you are on!
o bacon?
i have some nice peameal bacon i can fry it up and melt cheddar over it
size doesn't matter molly ...?
hi there ruru
Greetings babble buddies!
nice. Hi ru.
I like about 150 words.
150-250 molly and as to that size thing...ill not cut extra off for anyone;)))
hi Scrabbs
scrabby!
Hi Scrabbs, lately it has been a lot of short grids, makes me think we are due for a biggie soon.
150 or less is doable, but I like the enormous grids and then aim for 1/3-1/2 way
ooh, haven't seen that te6.21 babblet in a while, ends with kitchen cookware
Ooo boy...okay, what word total do you prefer in the grid?
150-250
I like the biggies, they are the most fun for me, as the words are easy for a while. Anything over 200 is great. but I have not had a lto of time...
I like them around 250 - 300
the big ones ,i just cherry pick the biggies and try for half way
thanks ALoy!
<---finishes every grid...
I like seeing tons of words and typing like a maniac with those huge grids, but I won't bother to finish those
smaller the better
yw, red
you are my hero ruru
The grids < 100 words or so contain too many odd words, so not much fun.
small ones have too many weird words
indeed scrabbs, btu helpful for scrabble...
Captain Ruru is a superhero for all Babblers!
well Captain RU is stuck on this grid..lol
That's where the list + the chat help out.
I like the smaller grids. I can finish more quickly. Compulsive to finish.
.. and I be done! any clue requests before I scoot?
ty for the cookware clue that wasn't pot.
I used to make myself finish, even if it was midnight, but I gave up that compulsion about 2 yrs ago.
Great job Aloy! Maybe for the lone I in the left hand corner? Its probably a fish... but as I just began.
Yahoo Aloy!
in4
Ne6...nor, but remove the ne
I mean ne7
Or maybe I could give you the correct clue
Scrabbs, I am so compulsive about finishing, I gave up babbling until I retired..
thanks Zooz, scrabbs you are cluing a different I
Really ALoy? wow!
Yeah, red, I am being a dope today.
the lone i is a babblet, in4, ends with a vowel
aloy, there is medication, you know
thanks aloy scrabbs and zooz for the clues.
lol.. Scrabbs, my son sent me the site for Babble.. I blame him
I don't start, unless i have time to finish. (usually that means I'm not home)
ty aloy..a common babblet
Well, Babble is a safe, educational + social compulsion, Aloy!!
My husband is on the medication, not me.
i used to be fanatical about finishing a grid, but that faded after the first 6 months
yup, haven't looked it up yet tho.. goes for dictionary
te8?
I got to a nice ranking at one point, but now I really just dont care....
te8 is weird, lemme think
te + short for civil war soldier + give me the ***rgy to finish the laundry
*cursing re- rejections that should be real words*
TY, Aloy
ty aloy
yes like re bet...to replace a bet.
now to find the dictionary.. hate it when I clean house for company..
I just tried that, Red. *REJECTION* <----It hurts.
too neat around here, no dictionary next to my chair
I just hate to clean period. But...COmpany is coming my way as well.
in 4/4 - "a small lacquer box with compartments for medicines, cosmetics, etc., worn on the waist sash of the traditional Japanese costume"
aack, it was in the bookcase, of all plaes.. ty wvteach
neat teach, I bet they were beautiful...
I got an irobot for christmas, So far it's helping me to clean some. I just have to clear the floor first.
so far cleaned about half the house. ....
thats cool Mixi... I have to be the own irobot.
red, hubby and I joke about making sure we have company at least once a month.. you know why
Any pets, Mixi?
my neighbor owns one and says it is a big help bc she has cats
LOL... Living so close to Disnye, I seem to get a lot of company...
2 cats.
would probably frighten your rabbits, Scrabbs
I usually do one room with the door closed, so it will get all the dust bunnies behind the door.
we do have a robot on the bottom of the pool tho.. has been wonderful, used to have to sweep and sweep
Absolutely, Aloy. My downstairs' bunny sprints away and thumps when she sees deer out the front floor-level windows.
finally found civil was soldier. Fireworks.
little rabbit in the woods
little man by the window stood
saw a rabbit hopping by
frightened as could be
"Help me, help me, help he said"
congrats Mixi!!!
'fore a hunter shoots me dead
She was so cute yesterday--standing up, front paws on window frame, looking out into front yard. There are squirrels + birds to entertain her.
bang
Come little rabbit,
come inside
safely we'll abide.
Scrabs, we have [are getting] two rescue bichons. Marco and Polo
TY, Aloy, for making me smile!
Bichon, yay yay yay yay!
missed.
congrats, mixi!
I am glad that you missed, mixi.
and hurray for that good news, Bichon.. happy for you and envious too.. (wanting a dog badly)
that's the problem with pop guns.
We are in CA and they are being fostered not too far away. I am going to see them tomorrow
I am so happy that your husband has agreed, Bichon!!
Yes, they are very cute and young, a bonded pair
Who surrendered 2 Bichons?? Those are beloved dogs.
Yesterday we took our 17 m.o. grandson for his well child visit.
They were found wandering the streets and had been living on their own
well, looking forward to seeing their pics, bichon.. reluctantly, must go.. till next grid, byee Babblers
Bye Aloy
Bye Scrabs
Aloy is leaving, not me
Po4 little puppies!!

ty hoot. i MUST find sateen cotton wrinkle free or i will go insane. this is the first time i have done sheets and not been ablt to hang them this winter.
i actually hung them in 4o degree weather
well I bought a set this summer and the wrinkles are not a problem. Hust cover them with a spread
no one needs to know except you!
TO, Walmart has those sheets.
But we'd talk about her behind her back. 'Have you heard about TO's sheets?'
Yes Haz. I heard they were a wrinkly mess.
you could also dampen them and run them tru the dryer on the air setting
Shockingly wrinkly. I'm surprised she can show her face in public.
they just came out of the dryer!
are you saying my face is wrinkly?
I know but the air setting won't set the wrinkles
Never! A wrinkly face would be acceptable, wrinkly sheets not so much.
LOL well i have a saggy face and wrinkly sheets. I'm a mess! :)
trying to avoid wrinkles here
ty for the advice. i just need to have no wrinkles, even if the house is a mess the bedrrom is pristine. or I can't sleep.
So are you trying to avoid ironing them altogether or is a little ironing acceptable?
when mine wrinkled I looked at them and said "oh well".
Hasn't bothered me since
shockingly, i don't know how to iron them. i had trouble ironing the pillowcases earlier
you iron your pillow cases?
i mean, they are so BIG, how do you iron them on a board?
wow..
I do. even when I hang them.
and I use spray starch or sizing.
The top sheet, you fold into an acceptable size and iron that. The bottom sheet you fold into an acceptable shape and iron it. The pillowcases you just iron as they come and fold for storage.
fold them so that they become a square, then turn and open as needed
Martha Stewart would be proud of you..
why???
fitted sheets fold with the corners tucked into one another and they iron well that way
Because I like ironing and I like having them folded neatly for putting away in the airing cupboard.
ironing pillow casses and sheets? whatever for?
to each his/her own
do they give classes in ironing somewhere that I don't know about?
Doesn't the starch make them scratchy??
wait, you fold them THEN iron them?
I will send my sheets, etc via air mail to Haz, ok?
I learned at my mother's elbow.
*wonders if Haz got poked in the eye a lot*
some people like that, i used to do laundry for a woman who had horrible posh bedding with three different fabrics and one of those was stretchy it was awful, after i finished with it i told her i would burn her house down if she put it in the laundry again, it wouldn't even fold well because of the different weights
Yes, TO, I would fold double sheets into a narrower size. Okay, you're ironing more than one layer but it works out okay, especially with a good steam iron.
yes TO, fold it carefully then iron and turn etc
neer heard of an airing cupboard
when my momn worked when she only had me, she sent the sheets to a chinese laundry. I will never forget how lovely the cool smooth starched sheets felt on a hot summer night.
never even
personally i think it takes the fresh laundry smell out of them especially line dried bedding
An airing cupboard = where the hot water storage tank stays, then shelves put so you can store laundry.
oh. that explains it owll..
oh, ok
well that is why peoplelove sateen sheets
you are right jacs but they are in the dryer this time of year.
I have to run.. bye you lovely people..I have to iron out some work details..lol
See you in a month's time, ruru.
take them out of the drier before they really dry and fold them then TO, then iron them a little later when they are cool
s you have pressing business to which to attend?
see you in Feb haz..
looooool
bye ruru
Byee ruru.
I KNEW I'd get some static for that comment
I didn't want you thinking I'd done a ruru and left babble. Oh wait, he didn't last a month...
mail just came, will have to bundle up like nanook just to retrieve it
They don't put it through your door?
no, we have boxes at the curb. they drive up. if snow blocks it, they don't deliver.
this is not an easy grid
i only have 10 words, just not seeing them
back
many words ending in er
(lunch time)
and a few with comparative ending
Hopefully there'll be something more exciting than bills. You'd hate to wrap up just to get bills.
is the ge 5 a normal word and I am being dense?
Hello, jmc.
hello jmc
i don't have it yet.
It's not a word you'd meet every day, hoot. ge plus a rabbit like animal backwards.
je, any action on the job front?
Sorry, g plus a rabbit like animal backwards.
got it no sweat! firewords
Well done!
wtg hoot!!
yay hoot!
tytytyt (bowing)
That was an awesome clue Haz.
Thank you, thank you. Bowing as well.
*Hands bouquets of roses to Haz and Hoot*
I like Haz's clues
oh my thank you!
I am now going to devote myself to feeding the BF who patiently awaits. bbl
news story: a woman recreated da vinci's "last Supper" with laundry lint.
Bye, hoot.
it will hang in ripley's believe it or not museum
Tearing my hair out over TE8,50 -- any help? Please?
that woman has too much tome on her hands
That lady obviously does not babble.
bye hoot
obviously. who knows which of the world's problems we could solve with all that extra time.
bye hoot
te8 - enter a French hat backwards, bring up the rear with three quarters of the Hawaiian goose (n***) babblet.
sorry a staff person actually expected me to talk to him
imagine that
lol jmc
This staff person would benefit from further training.
i agree
my housekeeper (now retired) of 20 years could fold a sheet so neatly that it didn't need ironing
je, do you feel your babbling has been adversely affected by this position?
Could you send her to TO to give her lessons?
Thank you, Haz -- that one must've been at the very bottom of Dr. God's garbage pail...
i am beyond that. i wish there were still chinese laundries
that is why i am quitting TO --I need more time to babble uninterrupted
You're welcome, Erda.
she has retired to Brazil so I think she is not available for TO
any news?
my clothes were always clean and neat when she worked for me :-(
i have another interview for a job in Philly
when?
I read in a magazine where a lady congratulated herself on stuffing old loo roll centres with lint fluff and used them as firelighters. Another non-babbler.
they are trying to decide--but it will be a telephone interview
i have heard of that haz
did they fill the other you were awaiting?
oh I guess you weren't on line when I said I didn't get that job
if i don't get this one that will have shot the wad of quaker jobs
i heard you did not get one, but thought you were awaiting the other
(well there are 2 more but one is in indiana and the other in oregon)
this interview is the one i was awaiting so i am making progress
noce to hear.
"Monetary unit of Botswana" -- another one from the bottom of the pail
i had to leave before sous ever got around to giving a clue for any letter in the 4th row
what does that one begin with?
jmc, from the far right n - ne plus not the bottom
th
ty haz
op6/24 - o plus the ending of the gr8.
google says that is pula which is not in the grid
the money that is
ot5/12 - if it's not one thing it's the ot5/12
*smack* ty haz *hangs head in fishy shame*
ei 6/21 = or
lots of words ending in er
ty wv *starts up the grill for the excess fish*
oopah is not a word--enable is not a Greek
Back from a phone call. Did you get that fourth row sorted out, jmc?
yep haz with burning cheeks
nearly greyed out
That's good. I must head to the kitchen so I'll say bye for now. Enjoy the grid!
*gone*
bye haz!
bye haz
i must go too-- I have intern interviews all afternoon
Hey eveybody! Mark Jones, checkin' in!
anyone still here? i need a clue for the re 6 / 27 please
hi there mark
Hey, i just got it. re+ vowel + I pre*** to do this than that.
thanks mark - i kept starting at the top instead of at the bottom
Yw, wv. How are you?
good - and you
It is also at the top; lol
te 6/21..??....... i cannot seem to monkey it
I don't yet have it. I will take a look.
te + vowel and a 3 letter word for what you cook in.
thanks fmitch
yw :)
forgot about that one,,,,,,,, i am getting old
Grrrr. Still don't have it.
mitch gave a great clue mark
I know. I can't find the vowel.
Look down, not up. There
s only two
goooooood evening fellow babblers xxxxx
Finally. My friends here helped me with it. That's us!
FM!
Hey TO! was just about to head off for the evening. How are you?
i am ok and you?
okey dokey.
Fed up with constant rain but would rather that than snow.
i finally managed to catch up with haz and now you
Can i have a hint for one of the 8's?
awe i missed you too :)
gr8 - what you find in a pencil
one is often mistakenly called lead
hi all
i took yesterday off - just one of those days
has this grid improved with aging?
Thanks to! My friends helped me with this one. Go Elizabeth!
Not really carlee but you can beat it.
<sigh> i didnt like it before
i need 10 to finish
i need 66
And Lorenzo!
I see you are visiting Sri Lanka today Mark, where will you be off to tomorrow?
Probably Turkmenistan.
LOL good luck finding a flag in the database for that!
Thx. It could find a flag for Andorra and Antarctica!
you are very well spoken or a six year old. ;)
Thx. Antidisestablishmentarianism.
hey, bethn is in the grid today - what are the odds?
Haz did a great clue for the te8 this morning if anyone needs it and if I can remember it.
Can i have it?
Methinks Mark is a tad older than 6.
Are we there yet/
?
French hat backwards and most of the Hawaiian goose.
and that should keep you and your friends thinking for a little while.
what the hangment is a hawaiian goose?
although i've got the answer by monkeying lmao
ty
lol frog is a a 4 leter word that regularly crops up in the grid.
oh fairy nuff
Infact Atalante was saying this morning she had spotted some of them at the Slimbridge Wildlife site.
What is the Hawaiian goose?
google it
Got it! Thx
I think Haz can read backwards and forwards. She does a lot of those "backwards word" clues. They are great.
Hi Molly, she just really has the knack doesn't she.
HEyyyyy. How are you Molly?
It is time for me, Lorenzo, and Elizabeth to leave you all. See you later!
yes she does
Hello.
Bye Mark & Co
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
bye mark
TO how many words left to find?
i need 11 and have no prospects. sad.
hello kamei
You guys are all pro players?
lol TO never mind, sometimes the chat is better than the grid.
There are lots of pro players and lots non pro too Kamei
Time for me to be off. Happy Babbling all.
bye, fm! see you tomorrow!
byebye fm ( sorry was in kitchen making sexin the pan)
ok so who is here that would like to listen to a crazy question?
go for it hursh
Bring it on Hursh
waiting for crazy question......
hey there molls...almost have my sex in the pan done :)
well, as a youngish woman, i tend to wear low-cut jeans, because it is apparently the only acceptable style. but often my shirts are only long enough to meet these jeans in the middle if i hold perfectly still. and in the winter, if part of my tummy or back gets exposed, it is chilly. so i was thinking that leotards might be a good solution. but then i was thinking, what about using the bathroom? that would be a pain. so what i want to know is, do they make leotards with a sort of onesie spin to them, snapping closed at the bottom, and if so, how would i find such an item?
dance studio
hello all :)
at a dance studio, or do you mean there is a specific store named Dance Studio?
i've been looking at dancewear stores online but i can't find any mention of the unconventional feature i'm looking for.
wild
i would just think that at some point dancers would have said, hey, i don't want to have to take this whole thing off every time i have to pee.
aha, i have found one! in this case at least, it is termed "snap crotch bodysuit" - in case anyone else wants to find such a thing
Yeah Hursh, I was going to say search with "snap crotch".
You can also find extra long shirts that will tuck way down in the pants. That can get bunchy though.
there we go....and i have my turkey bacon pieces all cooked for my twice baked loaded potatoes to go with my pulled bbq chicken that you pour over them
yes, bunchy, and also hard to find sometimes.
ugh, unfortunately the term "snap crotch" mostly turns up lingerie!
but if you find some of the REALLY thin cotton ones....( see through) or long silk underwear ( hunting stores)
Just Say No to low-cut jeans! They are uncomfortable, unflattering, and impractical! Just 'cause "they" say they're the only acceptable style doesn't mean you have to be a chilly-bellied lemming and go along with it!
(errr... hi, all!)
they are not unflattering... certainly not compared to "mom jeans" anyway...
gooooood evening again fellow babblers xxx
hi VIcuna
hi frogface
i prefer them vic..but i have due reason...I have a lower abdominal emergency surg scar..and there nerve damage there..rag rise or high rise rub and its like pins and needles across my abdomin all day long
hi Vi - i take you u dont like jeans that let your bum hang out
hi vicuna
hi sadie
and i cant type atm ...clearly
Ah well, I guess that's a matter of opinion. I think anything that makes Kate Moss look like she has muffin top is unflattering.
hi froggie
hi carlee xx
well you have a point there vi :)
i must admit i prefer trousers that cover all my essentials - up to chin if possible! I had a lovely day today - went to Plymouth to spend the day with my son who is 32 today
I have no desire to wear low cut jeans that require snap crotch shirts. That is just too much work.
sounds like a nice day Kazzer
I just want to be able to sit, stand, lean over and pick things up AND walk in my clothes. But fashion says I can't expect to do all that and also be in style. SO I pick uncool. That's just my choice! lol
frankly i rue the demise of the bussel myself
I personally dont care if im in style all that much i want to be comfortable and able to do things with out clothes showing too much
give me a good old whalebone corset and stays anytime
hurshy -- such bodysuits were quite popular in the 90s, so i wouldnt be too surprised if they start resurfacing soon. the main reason dancers dont wear them is that wit that much movement, they have a tendency to come undone. (not that i would know from personal experience or anything...)
Now, see, I think stays violates my comfort and mobility rule.
I pretty much follow the beat of my own drum when it comes to what I wear.
i favor mid rise jeans
sit just below the waist
Oh come on Eva, tell us the story.
hi vi!
Hello, TO!
i was dancing. it came unsnapped. the end!
it was Sadie - took him out to lunch and then we bought some clothes
oh nice
Well, I'm wandering off in my uncool jeans! ;D Bye, all!
i am munching dinner - pasta with pepperoni from marks and sparks - yummy
i have no idea what im gonna make for dinner yet
Ive been doing real well on diet , but pizza sure sounds good lol
twice baked loaded potatoes with pulled bbq chicken over top..and sex in the pan for dessert..NO CALORIES HERE TONIGHT
bye vi
ok, i am giving up for now.
see ya TO - dinner was yummy - we also have birthday cake later
cake - yum!
wonder of wonders, miracle or miracles!! i have gotten darling hubby to agree to let me make soups/stews for dinner and he promises to eat them!!
::still wants to have sex in the pan with carlee::
its in the fridge eva..come on over :)
i sued white chocolate pudding..and chocolate fudge puddinginstead of the pistacio
i USED* even
my 2ce baked potatoes in oven....waiting for about 20 mins..then putting cheese on top ( but there xtra old cheddar mixed into the potatoes )
<-- *just checked carlee's profile and found no recipe for "sex in the pan" - felt deprived...*
oh..i posted this am in grid..hold on
hi all. need clues for the n words on right column of grid. there are two of them.
ok..its in my profile
I have an ne6, cover up your ne6 regions so as not to be indecent, lol (a lot like the ne7 with one less vowel)
woohoo, ty, carlee! :)
ty got it.
rbud, how about i word bottom left i ?
::hops out of pan, misunderstanding:: teehee
welcome rbud..i used white chocolate pudding and choc fudge pudding...and i used mini choc chips
still not half way. darn.
i think Eva the name was origianlly six in a pan as there are 6 layers....
in4, babble, in + 1st 2 letters of my 1st name
or originally 6 layers
ty rbud.
any clues for the o words left column?
kinda like the "5 cup salad" my friend used to make. it was sort of an ambrosia salad with 5 ingredients -- and a cup of each.
but when first printed was a typo....six became sex...
only have one, op6, ends just like the gr8
but its REALLY yum
op4.6 they say she is the most powerful woman in the US less an R
ty got it.
well i am more than half way! yipee! on to list and more words. ty all.
ty, lynxxx! :)
hey ya trizz...how goes the battle today hun?
trixx* even..sheesh..i shoul djust open wine now and then i'd have an excuse for my typos today
No battle yet, my eyes are still stuck with sleep. How are you and yours Carlee?
all is okay...kiddoes are home... dinner in oven/ crock pot...got a full season of glee to watch with my daughter..life is grand :)

Just curious: what is sex in the pan? Assuming it's something chocolate.
Update on cinema visits: Saw 127 Hours and the Green Hornet today
Ooh! I really want to see 127 hours! Did you see True Grit, Movieman?
127 hours - Have to look that one up - Thanks
127 hours isn't here yet. Of course, you could see Yogi Bear in 9 out of 10 theaters though. Puke.
Not yet Judi, it's not out here until next month
saw The Kings Speech last week - extremely good!
Yogi Bear looks like just another Scooby-Doo to me
It is excellent! Jeff Bridges is oustanding, as is the young girl.
Judi, recipe in carlee's profile - to me, it couldn't qualify as sex in a pan if there *wasn't* chocolate involved, lol!
King's Speech is next on the agenda for me
The Fighter was also very good.
it used to be 6 in a pan....but is sex in a pan..layered dessert...soo yummy
I want to see the Black Swan as Well
Which be make it the second year in a row I've seen a Danny Boyle film AND a Darren Aronofsky film in January
Must poof now. Work to do. Drudge drudge.
Black Swan looks interesting, might see that this weekend
bye Judi
Black Swan looks very dark to me and I am trying to stay away from movies like that at the moment.
of mine watched it... she said she was glad she saw it..but wasnt quite sure what actually happened
a friend of mine..sheesh..i cant type..time to bust open the wine
lol, better take my daughter as well then - she's great at 'getting' movies
et 6/18 plz
hi all. i saw The King's Speech the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it!
et6 change the al to a vowel on the end of a word meaning forever

Hooray for Kazz!

the gr8 was the first word i found.. which shocked me lol
Cos, it's possible that Joyce Dewitt has an alcohol problem. She was arrested for DUI in 2009 and ordered to undergo treatment.

Hi everyone. I wish you could all be watching our news broadcasts - so heartening after our terrible floods in Queensland. There are thousands of people turning up with mops, brooms etc. and being carried off in busloads to help with the massive cleanup. The filthy mud is just everywhere, and is contaminated. Our ex-primeminister (a Queenslander himself) was wading around barefoot helping people evacuate, then had to spend last night in hospital with a foot infection! But it is amazing to watch a whole city of people pitching in, helping total strangers.
Well done Australia! I love those kinds of stories
Yes - soul-warming.
Thanks to all for the clues ... wouldn't have made it without yor help ...

i cant find any words =/
It's odd - I've looked in on this grid twice in past 24 hours to give clues and not been greeted or acknowledged either time. I must have become invisible.
...
gel - get your brain into gear. There are 109 words to be found.
Hello, not invisible. I've been off using resources so no chat available.
...
Some words were obvious and some absolutely obscure. Lots of ghost words, ones that float in and out and are not used in our world.
{{Jacula}} !
nice double oos and ees for your finding plesure.
Hi Stid's Mum. I got cut off anyway earlier. One and a half hour electricty power-out. I was just getting ready to take a table into the front porch, the lightest place, in order to prepare dinner when the porch was filled by my next-door neighbour, who was wondering if everyone had no electricity. By the time she left, the power had come back on again.
Hi Dan!
Friday night--perhaps people are out to dinner and a show as a winter treat. I'm going to read a little by the fireside and rest my brain. Power outages, we have them too, not a favorite activity.
stuck at 65 - can I have the stats for the lone H
I've still got all my lamps and candles, plus my Gran's supply of candles from the power cuts we used to get back in 70s due to the miners' strikes.
Keep warm and enjoy the blessings of the modern world. The h is a four letter word ha that is much like a rabbit.
I'm already bored with this game, no wonder I only get on here once in a great while. That's it for me- I'm off to eat some ice cream!
But he has longer ears and has a black spot on the back of each of them. He goes 'mad' in March. ha4.5 clue.
I have a supply of candles, too. My husband thinks I like the power failures so I can play with matches. I just like candles. Amazing how much light one candle gives. We overdo with electric lights.
Did you get the ha Dan?
I need the H that is by itself in the right column
Oh. Not the rabbit.
stidge - but don't you think it's rather too amazing how much light one candle can give in an old Hollywood creepy film?
It's the he 4, 8? Means the thing has some mass. Heavy.
pian
nope have that one too
Well, I don't like creepy films. The music always gets me very tense. Is jmb in the pb?
and the 6/7 that extend from it
Also, why do the people being chased/scared by something in a horror movie always rush past the obvious exit and go up to the attic or down into the cellar/secret tunnels?
is it the he 6, 30? Someone said it is a calf.
that's it tx stid!
jmb IS in thePB and is, as I type, being forced down onto a bed of nails.
Why do they keep running? The stamina of the actors is amazing. Why not stop and ask what the chasers want?
stidge - you stop and ask if something that was obviously out to kill you was in pursuit??
Oh, poor jmb. You're welcomed dan. took some doing but you stuck with it. Like gh** on bread.
It's a movie, they aren't going to kill you!!!!
LOL, stidge.
But, in movies people do get killed.
Meanwhile, in the pb with jmb. A little shot of something warming on this cool night?
Movie people at the end of the day pack up their bags and go home. Not very dead.
That's a flamethrower played on the tips of all the spikes that are now impaling her on the bed of nails, is it? LOL
stidge - Yes, I know movies are not real, unless they are snuff movies, but I was talking about the ridiculous plot lines.
Sorry for the PB storyline! As a writer, I can't help myself. LOL
Oh, Jacula, I'm sure you're right which is why I choose my movies carefully. We have Netflix which allows me to choose the movies. Right now they send the DVDs in the mail and they get here overnight.
However, the ridiculous plotlines happen because, if the pursued did rush out of the nearest exit, film over!
stidge - you don't have SKY then?
I thought the bed of nails was a bit over-the-top. So, I just piled up loads of comforters on the nails and pictured our friend relaxing blissfully. Not a writer, just an imaginer. No, what is SKY?
It's the same with romance movies. A man or a woman can give the worst chat-up line ever, but if the bait's not taken somewhere along the line, again, film over.
SKY is a digital TV provider, stidge. You can gets all sorts of channels that let you see films, old and new, for free, and reruns of old TV series etc.
I don't believe, as a recently retired teacher, Stidge, that you've never heard of Sky.
ge5?
I think we have something like SKY but the movie choices I know about have some expense to it. The Netflix has a flat monthly rate. It is true, I have not heard of sky. There is something called Cloud over here. Maybe the same technology.
Your young pupils must have watch The Simpsons at the very least.
ge 5, 16. ge *** (ends like a cheer).
ge5 = Hebrew word for one twentieth of a shekel.
tx again stidg
My kids didn't talk about the Simpsons and it was on regular cable and/or dish networks.
One twentieth? So a shekel is like a dollar. I learn so much just hanging out here.
Stidge - did you follow the school meals thing in USA, fronted by English chef Jamie Oliver?
I'm going to say good night. Thank you Jacula for the conversation. Seems like Dan is tending to grid business and we're keeping up the chat. No, I haven't seen the report by Jamie Oliver. School meals are a difficult thing. So many children in my school had free lunches but they were used to eating fast food so nourishing food was often not eaten. The menus were carefully thought out and the food was well-prepared. I occasionally ate the meals to check on quality and because it was convenient. I also know they had lots of calories so did not make a habit of school lunches.
Okay, stidge. I see you got the gist of the fact that the school meals board had got it totally wrong re nutrition.
'Night Stidge. Sleep well.x
stuck on ne 5. any clues?
Thank you Jacula, you are in my thoughts and prayers also.
ne + ot the bottom, mkg.
just reading up on your school meals, nutrition etc..my son just told me that they have instituted 'snack stations" for those that need it/they contain juice boxes, nutri rain cerial bars and fresh fruit such as apples or oranges and the kids can grab something there whenever they wish
Thank you, stidge.x
crossy - it sounds good, but check out the juice boxes for sugar and additives. Also check out the nutrigrain cereal bars for the same. It's a cop out, probably.
hi all
The schools just keep on using pre-prepared, chemical and other crap laden stuff to save on time and money.
Hi jmc and crossy.
well, unless we are prepared to stand there and pulp the apples and or oranges into juice ourselves and make the cerial bars in our own kitchens,it is a good start at least
The only good thing I saw in your snack stations post, crossy, was fresh fruit.
better than soda
it is better than having them scarf french fries and gravy in the caf like we all used to do
It's a start, crossy, but you should still look into it further. Kids are our future, let's not fill them with crap.
stuff we used to eat in the 60,s and 70,s..we are getting there
crossy - I didn't do that.
po6/21!!!
The diet in the war years (WW2) was actually more nutritious in some ways. At least for those who lived in the country and could grow vegs not covered with soot and catch rabbits etc., for fresh meat.
jmc - Irish hooch, brewed from potatoes.
Of course, those in the country could get eggs, too.
no no i think it is canadian french fries covered with gravy and cheese
jmc - my other half would think those sounds lovely. To me, they sound horrible.
Nothing can beat proper British chips. LOL
that is quebec poultine jmc..lol at least we do not deep fry oreo cookies and mars bars lol
hi all. need a clue for ne 5 please. sorry if it was clued already.
oh i see the clue below. thanks. got it.
I heard about another surprising deep fried thing a while ago, but can I remember what it was now? No!
and deep frying whole turkeys..bizzare!
wireforks! tx stidge, Jac and all cluers
crossy - I would have thought that a hazardous thing to attempt.
Well done, Dan!
it seems to be from the videos i have watched
ah but deep fried dill pickles are heaven
think i will leave that to my american friends..
deep fried pickles???!!
dip in batter and fry YUM!
good grief
deep fried coca cola was a new thing supposedly
and how does one fry coca cola??
hmmm never had that. . .it or out of the can?
I second the question, crossy.
i have also heard of them doing deep fried butter balls
need te 6 21 please.
http://www.wftv.com/foodnews/9789814/d etail.html
supposedly coke flavor batter then topped with coca cola syrup
All that frying is making my veins feel fat-filled.
te+vowell+not a pot
Hi Shir. YUCK!
ahh ,coke flavourd batter
doesn't sound all that appetizing to me either but was supposedly a big hit at one of those state fairs
I love a bacon sandwich, with the bread wiped in the bacon fat to grease it before the bacon goes on.
that is flavored batter not the same thing
ty got it.
probably Georgia the home of coca cola
my mum used to fry bread in the bacon grease
But all that deep-frying things that should not be fried makes me feel ill.
crossy - fried bread is lovely with bacon sausage, eggs, black pudding, tomatoes, mushrooms etc.
But, for a bacon sandwich, you just wipe the bread over the bacon fat in the pan.
yup,we used to have eggs english style, fried tomatoes, home fries and fried bread and a nice cuppa
i assure you that deep fried pickles are tasty
mmmm fried green tomatoes
It's not that bad a meal, nutrionally, Crossy, so long as you have manual labour to do afterwards and you don't eat it more than once a week.
one of my fav fried is scallion pancakes, but only the way my mom makes them
Why would you want to fry pickles? I've got a lovely jar of cold pickled cucummber, onion and dill in the fridge. it's fantastic with cheese.
my favorite summer supper is fried green tomatoes, fried okra, fried eggplant, sliced tomatoes, sliced cukes in vinegar and grilled corn
I make chutneys and serve them with either cheese or cold meat, left over from a roast, with chips (the British kind).
of course with corn bread
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
Hi Min.
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
sigh..my mum lest when i was 8 and one of the few thing i can remember is her blonde hair done jackie kennedy style, her english brekkies and a game with a button on some thread she taught me,you pull the thread a certain way and it spins and whistle like a top..lol do not know why i said that but it came strongly to my mind just now
corn bread isn't something we really do in UK.
because cold chicken is different from hot chicken
mores the pity jac
crossy - I remember my Dad showing me that thread and button thing, now you mention it.
jmc - not really, re the bread. Have you any idea how many wonderful forms of bread there are in Europe?
did you know that Jack Kennedy's assasination nearly destroyed the turkey farmers?
but corn bread is another wonder form of bread
It did, jmc? Why was that?
jmc - I'm sure it is. But check out our European breads.
people were so depressed that they didn't buy turkeys for thanksgiving the # 1 sales day for turkeys
Oh!
oh i agree jac i had an oyster po'boy in New Orleans with wonderful crispy french bread! I still think about it
i have started enjoying the thin french baugettes of late
that's an interesting fact, jmc
I heard a funny thing about British firm Halfords earlier. In the main, they sell bicycles. They've reported a huge loss yesterday, due to a downturn of bicyulce buying in December (when the UK was ice-bound). ROFLOL. They should have put skis on the wheels.
i learned it when i was talking with one of the 10 mormons who refused to fight in wwII and who was a turkey farmer
well,if the mormons will not fight, they can bandage those who do lol
Only 10 Mormons refused to fight?
not everyone agrees with that crossy
only 10 in WWII
such a sweet man
10 out of how many, jmc?
hundreds of thousands i would guess jac
my family fought,my uncle fought and my grandfather fought and many lives in london were saved as a result, should they have fought, they were fire watchers anbd orginized the fire brigades in london during the v2 rocaket attacks
i cannot judge them now,how can i,when i have not judged myself yet?
i understand the feeling crossy but some people believe that we need to intervene sooner and with less violence
i do not judge those who fought
any way not to digress on peace issues--just telling you how i learned about the turkey farms
they chose not to stand there and die
but anyways ,best i not get going on that
I wonder about some British regiments now. Some people aren't meant to fight, but may have an equallu important role elsewhere in the peace-keeping effort. However, some regiments think it's okay to drive a man who freezes under fire to suicide. Why can they not just let him leave? I can see, sort of, their arguement, about how a man who can't shoot back is a danger to other soldiers. But, aas I said, just let him leave. Why does the army still tolerate bullies?
yes,back to the turkeys
Yes, let's get back to safe ground.
:-)
many live depend on unified action in combat jacula, they are trained din boot camp to obey without thinking just because of this,if one man hesitates many die
some would choose to die rather than to kill but that is not the same as standing taking it
okay i will leave since i inadvertantly started this
*poof*
Which is why, crossy, the army prefers the 'thick' rank and mass cannon fodder. They don't think quick enough to think about the consquences of standing up to return fire.
sorry i will not stand there and let someone put a bullet in my head on principle
Oh, okay, jmc. Goodnight. Sleep well.
and i best leave before this gets out of hand ..good night alll..poof
I don't think we are argueing are we Crossy?
Oh! Crossy left, too, before I had a chance to say more about the types of soldiers. So, I guess he thinks I was calling him stupid. I wasn't! But this is a contentious issue and probably always will be.
I see too much of this with soldiers lost in Ireland and Iraq. Young men I knew as kids, and all different.
I killed the chog! Hand me my crown!
*sneaks in and hands jac a tiara*
*sneaks back out*
I was about to say that the army want cannon fodder, but, in most cases, it's not what they get.
Trying to get my last 2 words.Might give in & ask for clues. Did not see any clues for them in the archives.
Thanks jmc.
*peaks* what do you need min
hello. back from dinner. bit overdone on margaritas :)
I need that rh 6/21 word and te 8/50 word jmcnrick.
Young mean were duped, mostly due to being uneducated, in WW1 and we all know the results of that. They were more canny when WW2 started, but still too many unneccesary deaths. Wars that followed, had far more savvy people in them, but still a share of cannnon fodder, recruited.
*men, not mean.
Just found the rh6/21 word. Now I need te8/50 word
sorry min i am no help
te8 is a medical exptorant to make you cough plegm up.
ter + vowel + the 6th word on Likcety's list.
Well, I assume it's the 6th word. It's the one of my finished list of words.
I am done! I have fireworks! te8/50 was my last word
Thank you Jacula for the "dummy" clue. I needed that
Min, y/w.

te 8...think good
I do hope crossy will read the chog and see that I wasn't getting at him. Perhaps I should have been more wordy and stated my case far faster.
Having sai d tht women will always view the war process differently from men.
