ruby, was thinking about your heating problems. I think you said you have an open fire. Have you thought of replacing it with a wood burner? We did this with our open fire and it's fantastic, and also very safe to leave unattended.
Hello Ruby - keep those chins up. Try and use as many french words as you have during your talks with staff at the hospital: I noticed when I was in France that the more you try, the more they will be unable to resist correcting you and so more contact established. Us English have bad reputation for talking down to anyone faintly foreign.
sally: we "encapsulated" both the fire places so they aren't bad. I just had trouble keeping them going. My friend is here today and she got both fires going, so it's a little better.
scouser: my French isn't bad, but I am not so good with medical terms (lack of experience). \Also, because his file says Burt doesn't hear well, they tend to shout at me.
Closing the fireplaces also made them much safer! There is no chance of sparks leaping out which was my big fear before

What I've noticed is that English people speak French with a much better accent than Americans.

I'm sure. In NY I got a lot of Fr in school, but we didn't speak at all. Therefore, I can write and understand, but have a terrible accent. Fortunately, my Fr friends like it....lucky for me

I have been doing some medieval Norman-French along with the Latin cos it comes in the documents. To get it right we just speak phonetically like we did French in the school-yard - "franglais" and it works!

Sally-catlover - I do only the medieval and don't ask me to go from English to Latin with ease! And I am only doing what comes from the documents with the aid of the wonderful Anglo-Norman online dictionary - that volume is a work of love indeed and so good.
I tend to just lie around and read, but now have to walk and do all of Burt's chores. I have vowed (to myself) to start walking every day from now on to try and re-build some of my lost muscles. I think it's possible even at this age.
We do have tremendous fun in our Latin group!

Interesting, just loaded your web site scouser and will look more thoroughly later. It is actually a U3A group and we have been working our way through various courses, but also doing some inscriptions - and one of our members has a book of Fairy Tales in Latin, which we have tremendous fun with. I originally started because of doing family history.
I have a Latin Winnie Ille Pu too. It makes lovely reading especially the bees rhyme. Keep up the studies.
I have that one too scouser - also Asterix which is great fun.
One tip for all Babblers today: keep the en8/55 to complete last.

They go to one of 3 public schools, depending on which part of the reservation they live on. There is a preschool here and a day care ctr. And the kids, starting at a young age can learn the native language. One of the schools teaches the native language in middle and high school and there is a New York State Regents' exam too.

then I attended a workshop given by the Surrogate Court (which does the probate proceedings) and he said the same thing - it's a very simple process (for those with a will, spouse as beneficiary etc.) and they have staff who will meet with you and fill out the forms with you - 15 minutes at the most

took 6 months for the body cravings to quit,2 years for 99% of the mind cravings

If I ever have enough money, will put radiant heat in the rest of the house too (just missing the living room and downstairs bath - have the fixtures for living room but no $$$)

just got a call from my stepmom - my dad saw the surgeon and he is healing really well, X-rays look good. (He fell and shattered his femur a couple of weeks ago). He'll have to stay in rehab until he's more independent, though, as my stepmom can't help him much (she's 85 and he's 89). But really good news.

This is the last quarter that I am expected to do research and regular reading in texts. Next quarter I will be student teaching again, and the last time I student taught migraines were minimal (tension headaches, yes, but not migraines!)
does your school have anything for students with disabilities? I think if you have a certified disability they have to provide services
thanks LBD -- considered that, but my faculty have chosen rather obscure texts. and yes sue, I actually do have support services... they are taking good care of me. But we didn't have a lot of lead time on the reading materials.
