hi and nbt and a new word for me
a lot of phantoms
morning all
morning all. Anyone want any clues before I go do some hoovering through the deep cat-fur rug to see if I can locate the carpet.
Hello, Shoolessdwarf :-)
Hello, Scouser, only just started so i am fine for now, but thanks :-)
PS zoozzoom I have printed off your super statement about those who are blessed and pinned it up on the wall by the computer. Thank you.
:-)..you are more than welcome, Scouser!
hi hi, could use a couple of nudges for the two lone E words...not having any luck so far.
Just calculated that it is 52 years since I went IOW on train to Ryde and down to Shanklin Chine which was just a rough track then down the cliffs.
the ea is like end of life without the d; the el is french far away (it is a legal term)
thanks so much!
LOL you beat me to it, Scouser. I was going to say the EA 4 word was what somebody with a lisp does with their food....
BTW - Hi everybody :-)
Thanks for the `E`s
Hello, Rbud & Soodle :-)
good morning everybody
Goodly Soodlebum - super clue
{{soodle}}
hi ruby
{{dfm}}
Hello, Ruby :-)
((((Rubes))))
hello rbud and scouser
DFM??..where?
hiya, ruby! :)
Scouser, i went to Shanklin chine last year..beautiful place..although getting pricey to see it now.
and ZZOOZZ!!!
I got mixed up, how unusual!
and first two words were scouser's e's, ty
oops PB for me pl5/14
I wonder did many people go to the PB when the grid changed from yesterdays to todays? Usually they all say FL 4/8. (I know this because I often trawl for cloos
I`ll have a look..LOl
zoozzoom: I bet it is pricey. We just had to scramble down. We walked for miles and miles in those days.
that's v funny, soodles
yes the PB must have been crowded this morning.
Hows 'Himself', Rubes?
they probably all had late-night ice cream
6 people, Soodle..Trif was the first to say they were all in the PB..LOL
charming, I'm sure.....hahah
LOL!! Serves them right... all those whiz-kids...Its terrifying how fast they finish...
ruby - how is the non-patient today?
obsessed with "what is the next meal?" and wanting to drive
I have postcards from like 1890 to 160 of sandown and a few from shanklin, Scouser, Lots of dirt tracks then..lol
Morning, scouser! Hi Soodle, ruby and zoom.
since the PB is full of all sorts of goodies it doesn't seem to be a PB at all?
Hello Hydra :-)
Hello, Hydra :-)
did you find fossils there, scouser and zzoozz?
hello hydra
Hello Hydra - finally !! I have finished am just chattering.
Lots of fossils here, Ruby..i am one..LOl..but yes you can always find fossils if you look close enough.
I've only just started. Have just emailed you-know-who to tell her I'm not trekking to Devon tomorrow. (Sorry, folks, long story.)
Ruby - I was a teenager then and fossils didn't feature much on my horizon. However, if I went there now ......... I would have to be restrained I assure you.
Ruby - I was a teenager then and fossils didn't feature much on my horizon. However, if I went there now ......... I would have to be restrained I assure you.
it sounds like hunters'-heaven
A fossillised Zoozzoom - very rare indeed!
I have given husband a big collection of fossils, hoping that he would be interested enough to classify, etc.
OK Hydra but when we do go there we will have to have a side-track to Dorset for fossil-hunting !
Indeed, Soodle LOL..although i do feel like that when i first get up in the mornings..my lower back kills..lol
Hey ruby that is a great idea. I have got some boxes of stones in the garage that need sorting too. I am a pack-rat I suspect.
I'll just have the carriers take me down the cliff....hahah
We will have to come up with a latinized or graeco name for the fossils zoozzoom and scouser.
and old ruby!
I'm just back after voting in the General Election. Its certain that we will have a change of government, but I can't help thinking 'Same circus - different clowns'!
Always is, soodle..nothing ever seems to change..they are all corrupt over here..line there pockets..sod the rest...sorry rant over.
I started him off with two: one which I found years ago in th Alpes Maritime, high u, an amonite; and the other, I found in an art gallery in Montreux; I was still working then so could afford it. It's a sea fan from China, probably 150 million years old, in shale, and very large with high relief and all the detail
I can't do politics in the morning ..... or the evening .... or anytime outside of that either. Local politics even worse.
now I just buy him odds and ends including some from Dorset via the Internet
LOL, Scouser.
ata gave me the site
ruby - I was given a lovely little trilobite - you can see all the detail with a hand-lens. Fascinating.
politics -- bah humbus
bug*
re politics: I am part of a local history preservation group (Friends of Williamson's tunnels) and local politics looms large all the time. aaaaaaaaaaargh
ooph, I just noticed that amonite is a phantom. Phew!
I do love Baltic Amber with critters inside them.
I just noticed that Phantom is a phantom!
I have a necklace and earrings of Baltic amber with many insects
LOL
oh yeah, soodle, too phunny
I wonder how many such creatures were in the Amber Room in St Petersburg?
swell fantom Soodle
You there hydra - frantically babbling I suspect?
I bought a balticamber from ebay a few years ago..the bug looked fantastic on the ebay page, so i bought it, when it arrived the bit of amber was so small..i did not realize it was going to be microscopic size..lol
ruby - ammonite is only a phantom if you put one m istead of 2
(I didn't know how to spell it -- blushing)
zoo - does it live in one of those boxes with a lens in the lid?
Sorry, phone call. Had to go downstairs. Yes, scouser, we will certainly go fossil-hunting.
No lens lid i`m afraid a little round plastic container nothing more.
sorry ruby - it is a phonetic word anyway culled from the Egyptian I expect.
Only found 33 words so far. Must start work now. See you later!
mi4/5 has been in the grid three days in a row now..lol
speaking of Egypt, I just found a nifty ca6/27, on my own, for a change
thanks, Ruby :-)
My Enable grouse for today: de4/8 can also be a de5 which is present in the grid but rejected. Grrr
yes Ruby and there is a related ca5/18 too
Well done Rubes! I better go and do a bit of work.. I will be dipping in and out...Have a lovely day, everybody. Poof
[[soodle}}
Nice to see you, Soodle, take care.
transliterated again, I guess!
I think there are no babblets in this grid - but currency strikes again.
Ooh the new series of Benidorm is on tonight.. YaY
uh oh, no visible money here
do they show Detroit 187 in the UK?
Not heard of it, Ruby?
gooooooooooooood morning fellow babblers xxx
it's a 10-part series with Micael Imperioli (the nephew on Sopranos), and it's wonderful
Hello fellow frog.
yay, froggie
Hello, Frog :-)
hello scouser ruby and zooo!!!!! xxxxx how are we all and how is the grid behaving??
Scouser how many letters is the currency word please?
4
Grid seems a little bit disjointed to me..so many phantoms.
Thank you.
deal
omg sorry!!!!! pb
got that one, Frog.
bad froggie!!!
zoo there are two such words both 4
lmao - thought my messages were starting with a full stop - just noticed its a bit of dirt on the screen!!!
LOL..silly bugger.
it's a crowded PB today as all the early swap-overs said their own f word!
Scouser we are talking the `O` currency word not money?
I must go and do carpet-expedition (i.e. hoover off the cat-fur and find the floor)
Take care, Scouser.
zoo - two L words for currency
cat fur is softer than carpet!
when I groom Ruby, I put the fur outside for the birds
ahh..i see..thanks
It may be but carpet is beige and cat is black
mostly
dealt
oh, and BTW, saw a new bird yesterday, a kind of Fringilla!!
omg i give up!!!!!!! sooooo sorry
Oh dear..looks like frog is going to be in the PB ALL day :-)
does anybody know birds?
I have never thought of such an ecologically useful thing to do with the fur. Good one.
yes - i was on the wine last night and have a bit of a hangover - dont know what im doint lol
I'm not sure, but you'd think it would be soft and warm for the bird babies
ruby - what was it like?
the bird I mean
LOL
frog - that is devotion to Babble - doing it with a hangover.
in French it is called a pinson du nord. It is brilliant orange, black and white and there were 4 of them. They are ground feeders and slightly crested. POreviously we had pinson des arbres, similar, but pink-breasted and grey.
that was my "exciting event" of the week!
Good morning everyone sneaking in whilst a work to have a quick look at the grid:) hope everyone well
they must of looked beautiful, Ruby..must google.
Hello, Jean :-)
hiya jean xxx
ruby - perhaps they were cross-bills - from the pine-forests. Apparently they have been seen quite far south this year - usually they are up in Scotland.
and the verdiers are back in their chartreuse spring plumage. I think they are green finches....
omg there are so many phantom words here today!!
no, I am sure of the identification as we feed them right outside the kitchen window and I can see them up close without frightening them
and keep my bird guide very handy!
the verdiers wheeze in the trees (see poet, too!) outside my window. (two-barred crossbills have lots of white and black on wings)
I've never seen a cross bill. What do they eat? Perhaps they don't eat my catering.....
two-barred crossbill comes from northern russia. Pine-seeds in particular. They have special bill hence name.
I've seen pix of them, but never an actual. Since we've been here, I've added more than 20 birds that weren't on my American life-list
I'm a totally passive bird-watcher
and they provide dog entertainment for Ruby
I live in town suburb, so not many species here but we do have woodpeckers and the greenfinches.
do the green finches have black and white bars of their shoulders?
on*
yay, half
ruby the french name pinson - does that describe "pincers"? (pine- and fir-cones of course)
my trick is putting the feeder right outside a window
I don't know anything about the naming of species. You can imagine how hard it is, American names, French names and Latin names. It's like with flowers but at least flowers hold still
and butterflies are impossible for me.
black and white bars on greenish bird might be siskin not greenfinch. big difference in song from wheezy green ones.
our garden is designed to be animal friendly - no pesticides, a fish pond, buddleias, lots of fruit trees
hydra has a good garden for animals and birds too.
Now I really do have to go hoover. Bye all.
I am useless at recognizing bird sounds. The only one I know is one particular "merle" (a drab sort of medium-sized black bird with a yellow beak). He always sings his lovely heart out in the same place and I was finally able to put the song with the bird
the others all sound like clicks and electrical buzzes to me.
{{scouser}} very nice chatting with you, as usual
How come "Latin" is not excepted?
proper noun.....add an 'o'....
Ahh, you are kind, thank you, Dachef :-)
ok ive decided i dont like this grid. Im goind for a smoke and will talk to you all later xxx *poof*
Bye for now, Frog.
Oh my word, i have never seen a Mannequin like your icon, Dachef..lol
last ten and I'm flummoxed beyond any reasonable definition of the word. Is there a list floating about anywhere?
not sure..i will check.
DFM has one.
nm, found one.
np.
re the icon: not sure where that came from. Found the photo on my Pc one day when I was clearing some files.
Scary but cool at the same time..lol
you know, thinking about it, it might have been stolen unsurreptitiously from another babbler. Can't remember!
you are down to 10..i have slowed down with 84 more to find..not a good sign.
Good morning everyone. Happy Friday. As usual, good ole VolleyMomDee has a list.
Hello, Molly..noticed DFM has one too, but not listing yet. 67 left.
Morning Zoom. I thought Dachef asked for a list.
thats correct, so i checked DFM as he had one yesterday..i let Dachef know, then went back to babbling :-)
Okay, I'll go back to lurking now.
55 more to find, taking a break.
good morning!!!
my phantom today is phantom
hellooooooo
hi sue (-:

Hi all
pulled off a surprise yesterday.. daughter flew in from AZ to surprise her dad (birthday Mon).. he was clueless and it was fun planning

That is wonderful
that on Sat., his son and wife and our granddaughter will also be coming (from TX)
I would love to see my family
he hasnt seen her yet?
so, daughter and I are going "shopping" when we go to the airport to pick them all up.. can't wait.. I know, we don't get together often.. oh yes, he has seen the daughter, still doesn't know about the son
Hi all
hi Norma
you all must love this man a lot
hi norma
elmo is a word
I don't like this grid today is it as bad as it looks :o)

6 people in the PB at the fl4 for saying fl4..LOL
thanks zoozz
PB party time
lol
that's funny.
See, I think a seasoned Babble player would try fl4 before saying it in chat.
nah, they were racing to be first
Oh yeah, I forget the competitive nature at fl4 time.
thanks Zoozz and Molly
that's for sure.. if I am up at fl4 time, I hide chat as it is soooo distracting
yw :-)
maybe some people can process all the hints flying around, but I can't.. I like to find stuff on my own until I'm "stumped"
Hey Mom, have you ever heard of/made tomato pie?
I cannot go as fast as the babblers at fl4 time..i have 47 left now and struggling badly.
oh no, Molly that sounds disgusting
It's sliced tomatoes, onions, crumbled bacon, basil and oregano, that you put a cheese mixture over and bake in a pie shell. Someone told me it's pretty good. I'll keep it in mind when my tomatoes start ripening.
Oh gosh th4 sounds devine.
sounds like a type of quiche.
my sweetie said he wou;d definitely put that on the list ..... of what not to make. :-)
be back in a bit , time to make breakfast
lol
Enjoy your brekkie, Mom.
thinking about that pie.. must have to bake a while so it isn't soupy
I had tomato pie years and years ago when we lived in SC. If you like tomatoes at all it is YUMMY!
hi gdine.. guess the tomatoes are peeled before baking
Hello, Gdine :-)
You're supposed to core the tomatoes before slicing and then pat them down with paper towels to absorb the excess water.
Could be an eggy cheese mixture?
ah, that makes sense
Hey Z.....I should be out walking but this is so much more fun. 8^)
Gdine, thanks. I had a feeling that was a southern recipe.
I think the tomato pie I tasted had sour cream...I don't remember any cheese.
Well it was fun, i am finding todays grid sooo hard.
It seemed harder before I finished.
Just googled tomato pie. Lots of pizza stuff shows up but you also get several variations of pie....
holler if you'd like a clue, zooz
LOL..good point, BR :-)
A lot of people I asked about it said "you mean pizza"?
howdy, BabbleRabble.. nice to see you have survived the winter (-:
Hello.
time to tap the ma5 trees
*watching presentation*
Didn't River say it was sugaring time up there?
Wow, if that f and i were reversed in the first column, we would have a very racy word.
didn't see that chat, Molly.. we used to tap our trees the first sunny day after a freeze, before the trees leaf out, about the end of Feb
I bet the fresh stuff is awesome.
it really is
last word = one of Dorothy's friends in Wizard of Oz, ti6

I need help....I don't know what I did, but suddenly my screen size enlarged extremely...what do I do to get it smaller again?
ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW WHAT TO DO?
hey button I am not an expert but. minimize babble, opne up the screen that show when you turn on the computer. at the top of the screen there shouod be a view button, click on that and then click on zoom
Try shift and your "minus" key?
Same thing happened with my hips, Buttonman! Try holding down control and pressing the + key.....
hold the Control button and scroll with your mousewheel to zoom in and out
Err... Minus key!
easier methods than mine but same end result
thank peri, that did it
Soodle, what do you hold down and press to make your hips smaller?
yeah, I meant "control-minus"
so glad I waas able to help!!!
Mollie- her digestive tract.
I just PB'd myself by mispelling your name.
Damn.
Haven't found anything yet, Moll - Hence the big hips!
lol, all! I need the hip trick too...
Neener Kap, if you had spelled it right, you wouldn't be in the PB. Enjoy the bagels!
We can't say your name today, M.
Soodle will be joining you for mo4
I am so in the PB.
Let her be known as the Divine Ms O!!
Yup.

Yes Sue, and apparently many people were PB bound at the fl4.
I'll bet! :-)
I thought about joining a gym to address the 'Hip' problem, but I sat down and had a nice cuppa and a choccy bicky and waited for the thought to pass...

bye Peri
Norma, sometimes people are signed in but aren't *here*, may be reading back in chog, or just not talkative. This is the first time in a long time that there are so many chatty people on early in the day for me
How do you know what level you are on ???
I sometimes stay quiet (I know hard to believe), but if I can only stay a few minutes I don't talk
oh it is a word game called eight1, Norma..i will give you a link.
I am sometimes amazed at the number of people online if you look at the who's online tab
what levels are you guys talking about?
Thanks zooz

Hi Flask

thank zoozz
hi Flask

More than welcome, Mom :-)
Hi Mom .. Nef..Zooz..

That is a good game zooz ... will play more when I have finished babble... how am I going to fit all these games in lol
lol..i play it when i have finished babble but only a few times :-)
hi, flask! I can't find any zo words, maybe I need my morning tea first :-)
I would imagine it could get quite addictive ... just like babble lol
Hi flask

We just had a ton of rain, but we are jus fine, thanks
Hello, Une :-)
Hello Une, bad storms for you two?
we were lucky Annie, no severe weather here
i'm fine, thank goodness -- 3-4 inches of rain and some wind but not the 60mph some folks had . . . whew!
glad to hear that, Mom
morning, annie :-)
ok, so glad to know you're ok, mom -- heading out to Whole Foods for donations pickup -- BBL *poof*
((Une)) thank goodness
the rain was enough though
bye bye Une, be safe
now I am poofing as well
hi and bye, une!
Bye, Une :-)
Annie, dad is doing very well; we went out to the bank and the post office yesterday, and he fixed us dinner :-)

yw. ;-)
btw, nef, he has agreed to a commode, which was delivered yesterday; he agrees that it is a good thing. We'll do some shopping next week for things he'll need after I leave (to get his sock and shoe on, etc)
an OT can help with that too. The sock and shoe thing is like a half tube with a rope on it; DH tried 3 before he found one that worked best for him (they come in different sizes and styles
phone
Close, annie! I am in for a short time. Hey, everybody!

*pops in to suggest Annie roast her sprouts with honey + orange juice/zest. twas SUPER tasty when i tried it*
Life*
Hi EvaN, that sounds wonderful...will do
ooh th4 sounds tasty!
hi, eva! that actually sounds good; brussels sprouts are one of the few foods of which I am not fond...
even try a *very* light pan-fry once they are out of the oven to give them a wee bit of crispiness.
Love sprouts as long as they are not over cooked.
Eva, I am going to do that...thanks
sizzle sizzle.
YW *fades back to work*
Bye, Eva :-)
hi all
Hello, Jmc :-)
bye Eva and hi to jmc!
inge usually jacula and FM have clue lists, and probably dfm
And Volly.
*puts toothpicks in eyes to hold up lids*
Oh dear..did not sleep well, Jmc?
oh slept well but got to bed late last night
a jazz combo held a fundraiser for my org last night and I had to stay until the end
Ahh i see, so you are up to early for your sleep pattern..you should sleep well tonight then.
most of the musicians seem to also be personal trainers so I have to wonder when these people sleep
lol more like i was up too late for my sleep pattern--but I will survive today no doubt
I must admit, i need my sleep..lots of it.
i got back home in the nick of time to finish yesterdays grid
A close call then.
good thing it was a tiny grid and I got nbt before i went to work yesterday!

short nap + Letter + beginning of a bridge that chages a fee
Hi Judi, just nipped in so not chatting, but there is a list in VolleyMomDee's profile.
Judi, VollyMomDee and dfm have lists
soap opera or a brand of soap?
brand of soap Fell's Na......
Oh boy..never heard of it...will use google.
Ends like the ethan gas.
Do they even make that soap anymore?
i think so molly
I will just have to monkey it until it works!
Nono clued it below
Yes, I know, but I can't seem to get the letters to work. There is an another consonant or 2 in the actual name of the Fel's soap product.

(ducks back in for a while as dad naps)
hi sue, am so glad to hear your dad is doing so well
he really is, thanks, nanette!
Am a bit surprised the rehab center didnt supply him with one of the sock thingies to help with that
he didn't want anything except the walker and a reacher. Wanted to wait until he got home to figure out what else he needed. Stubborn guy.
lol, maybe thats why my hubby got one, cause i insisted he take it
Still wants to wait until next week, when I am closer to leaving and he's had more time to figure out how to do things. Engineers!!!
hubby never did get the hang of using the reacher tho. but I use it all the time
oh, he's got the hang of it, no problem. He was a mechanical engineer before he retired :-)
any my next phantom is: naphtha
it would be there if we could reuse tiles...
Gwen its very close to the na7 change the last 2 letters
hmmmm, ty, hunting . . .
OY, finally found it. ty buddies

Hi Ruby

oh, i found it. NBT woot
and my next phantom: illation
yay, gwen!
and decal...
I don't get why "lude" short for Quaalude was playable yesterday. But the short version of a test you get while pregnant, is not playable today.
found the na7 (ty all) but can't find the il's for the life of me!
hello molly
lol, molly - drugs of choice, I suppose :-)
I tried that, too, doesn't make sense
Those i words are intestine related Ruby.
the il's have to do with the small intestine
Snap Sue.

That's one of them Ruby. Coffee and doughnuts in the PB.

filet
Crossy, is your folding@home working alright? mine has been having download errors for last couple of days
there are a few other sexual words in the grid
mine's working, nanette
it is nono,if your computer runs 24/7,close folding and restart
I had to go back and look at the fl4 to see how many people said it before they realized it was in the grid.
ok I tried pinning it to start up and since then it hasnt been right
Someday, grid will be in the grid and we will have to enlarge the PB.
party time in PB
sometimes if it was already in the task bar and you mistakenly try and place it there again it will show an error and shot down\
I'm sure many people have done, or should have done PB time for th4.
just noticed I am over half way; better start grading the second class's exams (just finished the first class, after a week and a half :-/)
just unpinned it and now its ok
so,shut folding at home right off and restart it nono,or restart your computer if it has been running non stop for days, and if you still have the problem, you may need to reinstall the program

I have a list in my bio Judi
hi flosey
Thanks, flosey!
hi nono
yw Judi
hi flosey :)
now off for breakfast
hi nan
has your snow gone flosey?
don't know about flosey's snow but we have a fresh 8 inches on top of the 6 we had the beginning of this week and it's still coming down
I think Phil missed the mark again with his stupid prediction :)
we are due for -9 tonight and a fresh 5 inches or so
it's pretty much gone here in NJ but back home in IL they just got more
don't know about you Crossy, but I am soooooo ready for spring
no snow here, just rain and up to 60 mph winds today
we have a rat that doe predictions as well, his name is "wiarton willie" and i think we are going to roast him for dinner
sounds like a plan Crossy. roasted willie and boiled Phil
yes, they are predicting high winds later on today here too, jeff; hopefully not until after i get dad to the doctor and back
ill bring the bbq sauce
Stewed Cane Rat Skin and eviscerate the rat and split it lengthwise. Fry until brown in a mixture of butter and peanut oil. Cover with water, add tomatoes or tomato purée, hot red peppers, and salt. Simmer the rat until tender and serve with rice.
**** FIREWORKS ****
no bbq sauce needed lol
congrats nono -- still struggling with the a's
ok, I am going to go relax and read a little. I hate grading (I love all of you but am stuck at the moment and don't want to go to the list yet)
yay, nono!
YAY, NONO!!!!
i'm off, have a good day everyone
Geesh. The A's are a kick in the head today.

Can I get my Cane rat on a stick so I can dip it in the BBQ sauce?
Are there any lists today?
i have Volly's in my profile
thank you!
mmm..rat on a stick...
now can anyone clue the mo5/14 please?
yw and hi all
howdy hoots
*Grumble* Missing four C's.
There are 12 in a year
hey crossy
I'll finish the C's off after lunch. Uhg.
did you get the dog co and its pt for co 7/36?
oh dear god! never even checked to aee which m to use! big fish slap and firewords
yaa for hootowl!!
clue for bottom n for nbt?
small sleep + cons + for whom the bell ***ls
thank you!
yw
I have issues with the past tense of the dog co
I think it went from dogs to coal
mmmm, scrambled eggies with diced sweet valencia onions topped with shredded 5 year old canadian cheddar and a side of crunchy english miffies with butter and marmalade and a strong cuppa tea;)
at least I think it's coal
to the pb with ye hoots
You're right Hoot. One of those Brit words I'm not familiar with.
ill put a plate in there for you
Do you have to go to the PB if you have finished the grid? What say the Babble Police about that?
ok - but I'm right! Check the def of the pt. Sometimes my brain scares me with what it dredges up....
slides some scrabled eggs and english muffies on hoots plate
I don't mind going to PB. and I did say it twice. Maybe something will make me hungry
Next time I light the grill, and see the black smudges on my hands, I'll remember that my hands are co7. Yeesh.
bacon too!
hehehe
but of course hoots, today it is thick slabs of lean peameal bacon
very tasty;)
brb - going to put reat of stats in my profile
oboy! NOW I'm hungry!
and i have 3 fruit marmalade or apple jelly or gooseberry jam for the english muffies
crossy loves food porn;)
just a bit of butter please
and this tetley bold tea is quite nice;)
ty very much - a feast indeed!
eat breakfast like a king i always say
lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper
I agree
with my heavy sleep apnea,it does not pay to go to bed with a full belly
My problem is getting hungry in the morning. I've been up since 8:30 and just getting hungry
Excellent eggs! Cooked just right!!
anyone need a clue b4 I leave?
can u change the letters around somehow? new at this
plus, have you women ever noticed that men are very very good at making breakfast foods? there is a reason.back when i was dating my mrs.i wanted her to stay for the night,so i asked her how she liked her egss in the morning and she said"unfertilized" so i had to make sure there was a good meal waiting for her in the morning...been doing her breakfast for 20 years now;))
ella
hello all
sorry timber you are stuck with them as they are. There is a help file up above
howdy ursh
no timber - the grid is the grid
'thank you ursh
'and hoo
My love makes wonderful pancakes. But we eat them any time of day or night.
yw
if my mrs did not watch me,i would eat nothing but breakfast foods
w/maple syrup and butter for me and any kind of fruit jam, jelly or compote we have in the house for him
crossy likes flapjacks as well;)
which reminds me - I have some blueberries in the freezer that need compoting!
mmm...bluebies....
also have to finish my soup stock today
and,,,
make the second batch of relish/saladdressing we like
get in dat kitchen at rattle dem pans!...crossy runs.....
hehehe
clue for el?
el + a cut of meat
but as i do 99% of the cooking here,i rattle dem pans as well
e+ tender cut of meat
Sorry...e + a cut of meat
Nan's clue for that was great. e + what you gird
there is an a that is the same
thank you!
ty hoots
ok - that is good.
yw
'thank you molly
'ty hoo
bbl - now I am really hungry!
i have that effect on people when creating my breakfast porn;)
hey timber! i just left wordsplay... had a pretty good run there, but then ran out of steam
;(( guess latin is a proper name;(
'hey lex this is hard
'i need 37 more words lol
Yes Cross, but not a person of that persuasion. Go figure.
i warn you timer, this game may be a tad addictive, but i have never had any problems myself,as i have quit many, many time;)
it is quite a different challenge, timber... don't need to use quotation marks to chat here...
just be careful to switch boxes b4 you type in ur guesses
and as you can see by me,you do not even know how to spell to chat here lol
ok ty
Just popping in during a lull here at work. Did any1 post a list?
nith
hi again. Looks like lex is talking about me (since I'm notable for putting chat in word box and Words in chat)
...see what happens when you don't switch boxes b4 typing?!?! sorry folks
Hoot is still showing on line. It's in her profile.
ty
gramma, VolleyMom and djm
lol lex, next time give me something i can use;)
It's one of the reasons I don't chat that often on this site... i forget to switch boxes... :0)
sorry crossy... i'll make the next one count, ok? :0)
coolio;)
the other site that timber and i are addicted to just requires ' or " to send words to chat instead of the guess box
I'm always embarrassed when I put things in chog that aren't words; either by mistake or by lousy typing skills
i'm an awful typist, so many of the odd words i end up getting are totally accidental... but i'll take 'em anyway!
what i hate is when you just come in a lurk a bit to grab a few works cause you do not have much time, and i dump some 11 letter word into the chat
well do it now, please! i am not doing well with this grid at all...
hehe
i would like to be able to rotate the board like we do on wordsplay... sigh...
wish dr_g would polish off the new build,i have seen enough snippets to make me very curious
*!* ta da *!* -- Whew!
i so rarely even attempt to finish a babble grid, but do like to come on and hunt throughout the day
yaa for cybernan!
WTG nan!
i finish about 2 a month
don't know how you regulars do it all the time... just don't see those obscure words easily, and am quite oblivious to most clues...
anyone want clues before i leave?
wtg cyber
my first 6 months on here i used to kill myself to finish all the grids, but age brings wisdom as they say
wouldn't know where to begin, cybernan... but thx anyway :0)
me me me
lol
NOT REALLY
my goal most days is to get more than half of the words... pathetic, really
yes,i would like a clue for everything but al 4/4 please;))
on my way then -- see you tomorrow :)
but come on over to wordsplay and i'll kick your butt! (sometimes, anyway) ;0)
cyber, could you give the letter counts for the bottom C please? I have the co4/6
i have al 4,4 ... soothing gel
lexo i got 35 words left to find. i think i'm going to go to wordsplay for awhile
i have a co 4/5 off that 1
DANG! I missed her by typing too slow
co5/12 Nef
how long have you been working on this one timber?
and there's a co5/12 after crossy's
about 45 minutes right now. earlier about an hour
thanks everybody! :-) (now to find them; I've been trying for a while..
i've popped in 3 times this morning (~30 min total) and have only found 67!!!
ok... that makes me feel a bit better...
i am 50 in and slowing lex...
see ya later
bye timber! cu soon
i am starving, crossy, so pls no talk of ur delicious meals, ok?
i am participating in a 30 hour famine with our youth group at church... does not bode well for me as i forgot this morning and didn't have a good brkfst
now i'm dreaming of all the things i'd like to eat... and i'm only a few hours into it...
sorry lex...crossy bad
thanks for the C's. I kept trying to go across instead of up! :-)
ok, i have finally crossed the half-way point... don't believe there really are 135 words in this grid... it's just a great conspiracy to make me feel inadequate
do not feel bad,i am stalled at 50
No it's Enable who likes all things weird & wonderful and OLD!
hi all
howdy cathy
In languages never heard of
and NOTHING complete
i can't even blame it on all the bablets i don't know...
syntax never used
i mean things like cwms!
howdy...lol.
hi
that's true, hoot, it does accept lots of foreign language words...
it's been a difficult babble week generally, in my opinion
I'm stuck at 52 left. Time to go vacuum some more.
the dictionary on here is different from the one used on other games i play
bye nef... i shd do that too
you are correct, cathy. I didn't see an easy grid this week
you must have missed - what was it? - last mnth when all the puzzles for about a week were bad, bad, bad
Now, off to vacuum! BBL
i agree about the babble week, cathy.... i know there won't be big juicy grids everyday, but i'd like to get in at least one a week where i can find words for at least 20 minutes without too many stops
yeah... i feel like it's been a luxury to get a string of 10 words at the start of the grid before pausing...lol
i generally log on every day except sunday and find words here and there throughout the day
pıɹƃ sıɥʇ Çʞıl ʇou sÇop ÊŽssoɹɔ
1 - if your not finding words - go away for a while
i do much the same - little mental health breaks at work.
How do you do that Crossy? Lawyer never would tell.
hold on...need to stand on my head for a moment
i stand on my head of course;)
but it's so frustrating when i log back on with fresh eyes and just stare at the board and see nada... all the time knowing that there are gobs more words hiding from me
2 - it takes time to collect all the babblets - strange words that show up all the time
lol...and you see the chat fly by and people saying ''i've only got 2 until fireworks'
i am getting better about recognizing babblets, hoot... i just still don't know enuff of them yet
3 - monkeying works! I've found that even in other languages, there are certain rules followed
i've been playing since about 2004 and still don't know the babblets. lol
oh, i know , cathy... what showoffs! (that's jealousy speaking, of course) ;0)
4 - count points!~ Use the lists.
no - it's not jealousy... they're showoffs. lol. ;-)
i used to show up at the flip once in a while, but it got depressing watching people like gremlinn finish a 200 word grid in 17 minutes;(
i find it tiresome to switch back and forth from the lists... i'm quite a lazy babbler
lol, cathy!
I don't expect you to listen to me but it's what has worked for me. And there are some bablets that ai always miss anyway!
i never use the lists for the same reason
gremlinn is a machine... used to play and humiliate us on wordsplay all the time... never see him anymore
thanks, hootowl... i went through a time of being really serious about the lists - originally there were no lists. but i prefer to complain that i can't find the words. lol
does it here too but don't know when I saw him last
Kap...go here for the upside down text...http://www.sevenwires.com/play/ UpsideDownLetters.html
appreciate the advice hoot! i will get better eventually (cuz i WILL keep playing!)
i think that southern term for margerine that starts with an o is in here but i cannot for the life of me remember how to spell it
hey the important thing is to have fun!
no, crossy, it requires 2 o's
ol 2 vowels
....and fun, it is, hoot!
अà¤à¥€ तक नहीं पसंद crossy इस गà¥à¤°à¤¿à¤¡
i am such a word nerd... have been forever... my college roomies made fun of me cuz i read the dictionary for pleasure
hey if nothing else you get to chat with a bunch of nice people from all over the world!
i've seen people saying things in code, as well. nbt? pb? no idea. but when i erroneously put a word in the chat, i got a big PB from someone. I felt admonished, even though I had no idea what they were saying.
now you're really showing off, crossy!
no blank tiles, no blank ststa
try and wring that out of a standard keyboard lool
pb is penaly box for entering real words into chat
like I just did
that's why i don't often chat, cathy... some peeps are not very forgiving of offenses... someone even got really snotty with me about some word usage
lol
Yhese are not rules of the game. They were started by players
i am here to have fun..period
PB- penalty box. Where the food is. It's good natured though. We have all been there.
yeah...same here. i joined when it was a lot more light hearted, but some people are madly serious about it all.
and i keep it well stocked with commestables
most PB talk is very good natured... but there are a few folks who take this game a little too seriously...
and thanks for the explanations, hootowl. now at least i know what they're saying.
and vodka!
commestables????
i wd love to be banished to a well-stocked PB right now... sigh
i brew a bacon vodka cathy...would bring a tear to yer eye;)
ask anytime and I'll help if I can.
bacon vodka? now that sounds....interesting.
I have not encountered people being mean- it is difficult to read tone into a chog post though. I find it goodnatured on here, and every now and then there is a big kerfuffle over some mischogerstaanding.
All those rules about PB and stuff are really there to keep things fun, though - It ruins the game for everyone else if people list words into the chat log. So it's meant to be a good-natured reminder.
bacon vodka?!?!? now i've heard everything.... you are a swinophile, crossy!
And anyone who makes you uncomfortable is best avoided. I don't take made-up rules seriously
erda... http://dictionary.reference.com/browse /comestible
No blank ststa? I'm curious.
No blank stats, BettyAnne.
It's also fun to "catch." Like today, 6 people went into the PB at the fl4.
I know that, crossy
glad you're asking, bettyanne
It's a milestone some people use to get a feeling of progress! It means you have at least one word from every word length in the stats box below.
what do they mean by no blank tiles?
but commestables is funnier
And then you can get your six year old self out and say KAPLAN SAID A WOOOOORRRRRRD.
i just spelt it wrong is all
The other day, Crossy (who else? )was going on and on about pork, which was in the grid.
And no blank tile is another progress marker - at least one word from each letter in the tile stats box below the grid.
i spent all day in the pb...
Great word, comestables
...eating pigs.
Thanks all but I'm still confused as to what that means. I know what nbt means. Thanks.
just me and my bacon weave sammicehs...
quit talkin' bout food, crossy! my stomach is rumbling!
sorry again lex
but i do looooooove bacon, too!
some people use the chog more personally, so there is more sensitivity.
even tho i'm usually a lurker, i love to read chat... there are some beautiful friendships here
yes, crossy is shy and bashful as well
...and i was dumb-struck the other day when i read someone's profile, and there was a tribute to NancyBoy... knew he had malaria, but had no idea... :-(
all you evil women scare cwossy;)
I WANNA KNOW HOW TO TYPE UPSIDE DOWN!
ok - time for me to off to the store and prepare for verse 2 of our unending storms. At least it's too warm for snow....
NancyBoy is missed.
Ahahahahahahaha...shy and bashful....ahahahahahaha. Kap, I posted the link to where you go to type upside down. Look back in the chog.
stay warm hoot! thx for all the advice
what time?
indeed, poor kid,so young and such a tragic set of circumstances that lead to his passing
Not sure. Just Google "type upside down". There are several sites. You type in your text, copy it and paste it here. It's easy.
And learning about it here- first noticing he was missing, then the slow awareness- such a 21st century way to experience tragedy
ty
sıɥʇ Çʞıl
kaplan, do you play wordsplay, too?
but without this technology,we would of not know jesse had even existed so we are lucky to have known him for even the short time he was with us
what a bright, beautiful young man he was... enjoyed 'knowing' of him through this site...
stopping in with my candle for Jesse - hi everybody

thanks car :)
{{crossy}}
hi kazzer and are
ooh i have got the na 7 - no idea what it is
ahh, ruby, i did and i forgot to email you back.they were beautiful and so are you. sorry, got sidetracked at the time and then been in bed alot since
BBL. Have a good one!
you are so sweet!
bye car
no, just truthful ruby :)
i am down to 41 but struggling
I have a small tech question, if somebody has the time to e-mail me: I need to "lock down" my personal files and don't know how to do it.
28. Yikes.
I've invited husband's daughter to visit, and I don't want her to see my saved correspondence
sorry, ruby, i'm computor illiterate as i told u :(((
do I need to download to an exterior drive and hide it?
I believe you can password protect it ruby
tell me how, pls
are they saved in your email or as documents on your computer?
I don't know how to do anything except type! can't even change my icon altho I've rcvd directions several times
in e-mail files under people's names
ruby - my hubby has suggested that you should make her log in as a different user = than she cant see your mail. Also password protect anything you save on the c drive
mostly in yahoo
dont let her have your yahoo password
ruby, why do you want to hide files first of all,if it is to hide them from someone sharing your puter, just make a seperate profile for them
right now it's set so I don't have to log in at all, just hit a key. I don't want to have to log in myself, just hide those "delicate" files
she'd need your password ruby
that's a good idea Kazzer.
so I would just log out of yahoo every day?
i run 3 profiles on each of my puters
bbl, want my eggy bread!
unfortunately, my password is too obvious, both for wanadoo and yahoo
i take it you know your password Ruby? If you do when she is there log out
yumy eggy bread - i love it
but that is my 2 cents worth..i must head to work,i am sure you will figure it out just fine..tc all and happy babbling
poof!
it is very easy to change it = i did it yesterday to get onto my flickr account
save some eggy bread for me (French toast?)
so do i kazzer, i like it soaked in for a while
bye crossy
HELLO ALL! (((HUGS)))
{{stidmama}}
stop it you little devil - I am trying to avoid eating it
missed cross. bummer.
hi Stid
ca6/27? I'm lost...
the chog always talks about food after my dinner and makes me re-hungry
it has to do with Egypt
i will ruby,no, english wholemeal
magy
Ca6 Turkish ruler
hee hee kazz!! i like being a devil!! lol
i have a ca 6 - past tense of what you do to some one when you ring then on he phone
and alt sp, ca5
hi stid and bye, am definitely off now!! poof!
naughty lilliann
thank you!
ruby, did you have your question answered well enough? depending on your system, you can create a guest login, but you can't "hide" files from within your own login
bye lill
(((lilliann))) have a lovely evening!
so then I had better remove them to an exterior thingie
it would make sense Ruby
repoof! i'll be back to finish my last 51 stid when i've stuffed my face!! lol
3 left!
my "fascinating correspondence" with my various friends hahah some of it about her father (uh oh)
go magyk go!
poof again!!
soodle calls her "the weapon"
are these files that you need to have available, ruby? how computer competent is she?
they are just my correspondence files which I would rather she not read and she is much more computer competent (younger) than I
does she have to use the computer? I'd lock it down so she couldnt even use it
Phantom elephant in the room.
no, I don't need them available
I can't do that as she always has access when she visits
and her father won't let her use his
ruby, it is considerably "safer" then to create a guest login without admin privileges, and just make do with having to login when you want to use it.
one way would be to reemail them back to your friends then delete them all and them make sure you epty the delted items file - then when she's gone your friends can email them back to you so you sill have a copy
and the guess room is adjacent to my studio
*confused look* HE insists she gets to use YOUR computer, but won't let her use his???
Oh ho, wait, wait, wait. It's HIS daughter and he won't let her use HIS computer but YOU have to let her use YOURS?
guess who's coming to dinner....
snap, Molly!
as Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin would say "It's complicated!"
ruby, my BEST advice is that she have her own login, which locks her out of being able to search the compter's drives for hidden and redundant (and deleted but still available) files.
sounds it Ruby - and soo rude
husband doesn't like for anyone to touch his computer
would she snoop
simply moving the files to another drive (unless you know how to be sure they are truly gone) isn't a guarantee.
yes, kaz
do you have a PC or another system?
is there a way to put the files onto a disk like I do with photographs?
hmm in that case delete the lot and make sure you empty the deleted items file
ruby do you have a flash drive?
on a lighter note - my phantom is camelot
I don't know. Where would it be if I have one?
this grid is full of phantoms
I have 'til the 17th to solve this problem
it's an external piece. you can buy one for under $20. it's like a removable hard drive - you can save anything you want on it as long as it fits
they come in different sizes
fireworks!
I guess I could move all the "sensitive" letters to an innocuously named file
congrats, magyk!!!!
flash drive, huh, sounds perfect!
do you have any removable storage - e.g. usb plug in flash thingie? I do - they arnt too expensive you can get cheap ones on line and then you can move all the private stuff onto it and store it on your bra - I have an Helo Kitty on that is only 3 cm long
if you cannot find one in stores you can buy online
and I have a friend here who could help me do it
Ruby, for future documents, have someone show you how to password protect them. Those of the sensitive nature anyway.
go for it lady
perfect, I'll just keep it in my bathroom. Then she can snoop all she likes
just make sure once you transfer your files that you actually delete them from your computer
And personally, if I had the least notion that someone using my computer was going to dig around in my files, I wouldn't let them use it. Period.
even here in the sticks, we have a computer store and maybe there'll be a clerk who speaks English.....
Hello All :)
hahah wildcat!
any clues needed before I take off to do yoga?
find a picture online and show it to the clerk
another good idea -- oh, to be young again!
I always run ideas past other folks - lots of minds together come up with great solutions
birthday buddies have to stick together!
for sure!
Well ruby my french tranlater say -Bonjour - je voudrais acheter un plug in memory stick
ok, well goodbye all! *poof*
Afternoon evening Babblers!
hahah kazzer, yes, the French have a dearth of nouns, just too many verbs and lots of hand motions
bye Magyk
hello RED
bye magyK
and when they want music for commercials, they invariably use American or English pop music, never French
music is a universal language
but theirs is very poor
lol
Hello red
hello sadie
Hi Sadie and ruby and wild!

phantom is a phantom today
yes! I keep trying it wild!

I had to use a dictionary to get the z's
hiya ruby

I do nto think so.

I mean. ppl use morewords all the time.
I had to admit it....felt guilty but couldn't, for the life of me, find them

gd night everybody, see you tomorrow
*poof*
good night! goes into grid...
hey red! No lickety again today?
i dunno? I am not there yet. how are you Champ.
good thanks! you?
doing well. Still waiting on my short sale! I keep forgetting I have an offer out on a home!
I'm sorry! I wish the banks were quicker with them. Every day the house sits there costs them money, so really, why not make it easier?
Well, It is a lovely place for someone like me. HOA does all the outside work and even insures the outside. Walk in shower so when I get old... and guarded with a person gate.
I have only been waiting for 4 weeks, so far!
But you don't have a time limit or anything, right?
well the offer stands for 60 days. then I can re-offer or move on. I am not sure what to do if it goes than long.
perhaps that is what they are counting on? hi all
If it goes less than 3 months I'll be surprised. So you just need to decide how much you want it. Do you have to get out of where you live now?
Hi T.O.
i think actually it just takes the banks a long time with short sales.
I can always extend my lease. Lately most short sales are closing in this area in about 2.5-3 months, so...
did the appraiser come out?
hello temple!
Well yeah, because once they decide to go ahead, it's however long it takes your lender to get the deal done. It's the waiting to find that out that's torture!
No No appraiser. I need the Bank to sign off on the sellers acceptance of the offer. It is a very different hting, i discovered than just buying a regular home.
oh. this is a condo?
yes, and my lender is on board.
it is a town home. similar to a condo, but apparently classified a little different.
sounds as if you own it but not the common space.
Hopefully you'll hear something soon, now that it's already been a month.
I very much like the place.
Oh essentially I own it and the little quarter acre. It's an odd place in Florida, there is a section of townhomes, a section of small family homes and then several multimillion dollar homes around the lake.
well we all wish you the best with it, it is a pain, waiting
I for one have the hardest time being patient!
I dont really mind. I just don't want to find out I waited 3 months to find out their bank is going to reject it!!!!!
How are you TO? Any more bad weather?
we had rain, then 60 degrees, now cold front with very high inds. not good
That sounds like March weather and also really unpleasant. Winds do me in!
trees are in a very precarious state from storms and last week's high winds

colp
oops
real words!!! I need help with real wordsss!
I do that all the time!
Yeah! real words!
oops and i almost did that!
back. i will take five minutes and then back to work. still snowed in...
i was up at 4 this morning and am just back from downtown. i feel like sleeping again.
oh gee TO, that's an early wake-up!
getting up early is fine, as long as you don't sit down during the day. once you do that, it's lights out! ;)
hi stid
I slept in til 7:30. Yes, TO, I would think you need a nap!
any help for the N and the O in the bottom row? trying for NBT...
good evening all. *Hugs stiddie*
hi spritey!
SPRITELY!!!! ***hugs and hugs*** (what master's paper?)
na7/36 for the bottom N
just got the o... when you get up o*** something...on4
ah, fish, please!
still thinking about the NA...
Stid, someone clued it earlier...it's a word I didn't know...
na + first 2 letters of where you can buy medicines + a thief has s***en goods.
oh gee whiz. I was SO CLOSE!!! LOL thanks sprite.
didn't think of that alcoholic ending.
*grins* New one for me too, I got it from an earlier clue.
okay, one more for NBT. *looking* I want to try to avoid more fish.
how are you sprite? I miss you! It SNOWED here. I keep trying to get the boys to go take photos before it melts in the sunlight today. The roads are too icy for us to get out, so I had to skip school.
am good, trying to be economic in how I spend my energy... sometimes failing... but that is the learning process! No fun missing school, but staying indoors can be nice for a day or two ;)
we had over 8 inches yesterday, if the stuff the day before hadn't melted we'd be over a foot.
i am at a dead standstill with 66 to go - is there a list of clues anywhere?
indeed yes, with this paper hanging over my head... but not what I actually wanted. Today was going to be really fun.
go jindigo go!
hi Jindigo, I really don't know. You could try volleymomdee or Jacula.
thanks Sprite! ((Stidmama))
any help on the E in the second row down? that's my last blank.
Hi Stid and Jindingo
hi again. Jind, VolleyMomDee, Hootowl, and dfm have lists
hi Nef!
Hi Red
EL5/10, stid
Hey Nef
hi Nef
thanks sprite *thinking and hugging Nef at the same time*
Jindingo, I really like your icon, was it from google? or? did you find it somewhere...I think I would like to stitch it.
if you need more of a clue, just tell me :)
hi red! I just wore myself out vacuuming; cleaned the coils under the frig and will not buy another frig with the coils underneath!
got it!!!!!
wtg stiddie!
gave me an L too, to get to halfway!
yes .. i googled it
even better
what is this unfamiliar va 8 word, and is it in enable?
*looks expectantly at Nef*
va8 sucks
next, you'll expect me to agree that ir 4/4 is a real term as well. *shakes head sadly*
sucks dust, I mean...
*wicked grad student mama look*
LOL sprite!
I love my vacuum, stid; it's a Rainbow (which cost an arm and a leg) and has a water tank for the dirt. Sometimes it's so full of crud that it 's shocking to think that my house has that much dirt in it
okay, I want to stay, but feel compelled to be productive. Sprite, think of me, toiling away for the glory of a mediocre product.... but the best I can produce with my current understandings.
oh those rainbows ARE lovely.
then you should say you are RAINBOWING your home. It's much more poetic!
hi, all.
Best thing in the world for someone with asthma
stid, nothing you do will every be mediocre. I am incredibly proud of you and you are an inspiration. Best of luck *hugs*
Great idea stid! Thanks! :-)
hi Angelsong
hi AngelSong! How are you?
oh, now angelsong is here, but I have to go *sad mama look* first.. how are the grands, and how are YOU?
the grands are thriving, and I am fine also. got ourselves a garae door opener installed this morning.

fireflies, and I have to be off. My girl is a bit ill and wants to read in the 'big' bed with me reading beside her. How little they are when they aren't feeling well ;)
YAY, sprite!!! WTG!!!
Holy sh*t Nef. Those Rainbow vacuums are NOT cheap.
Nope. I got it several years ago; back when I was earning lots of $$ and DH was still working too
cl \
it was a lot of $$ back then too; but we were making a nice income and it really helped the asthma
(wonder how much they cost now; going to check that out...)
hello all
hi cos
how is everyone?
hi cos
miffed that conman isn't a word! ;0
phantom: ocelot
sorry, fell in** the grid again. Doing fine; cleaning house between rest periods.
phantom catholic
it's always fun to see someone else's phantom. I would never have seen that one, cos! :-)
lol im surprised i did :P
Ha! Just found one of Dorothy's friends!
i guess when one grows up with the catholic religion crammed in one's head.. its bound to be there.
dorothy zbornak?
thanks, Champ!
:) No...red shoes, emerald city...
ah thanks i see it
:-)
cos, I'm Catholic too. Parochial school for 8 years; my school of nursing was run by nuns too
RIP Bea Arthur
The NUNS! and the rulers!
my mom told me the horror stories of her being in catholic school... she is Deaf but the nuns would not allow her or her friends to use sign language and if they did they would be severely punished with rulers
*I* never had a problem with them; but my older sister often got her hands smacked by the rulers (she had such a mouth!)
they said sign language was a tool of the devil lol
OMG, cos! How terrible!
my dad was left handed, and they tried to change him to righty. didn't work!
hubby got smacked with the ruler because he didn't practice his piano.
whats funny is the same school today is now one of the leading catholic schools for the deaf in the country and they are a big advocate of sign lol go figure.
the nun teacher now teaches sign language classes
I was a lefty, they never tried to switch me. Then again, the aunt who raised me was County Supt. of schools
awesome!
why did the dictionary allow japan yesterday and not latin today???
no kidding!
frog - i asked myself the exact same thing
i do despair - oh and goooooooooooood evening fellow babblers lol xxx
hello!
hey champ xxx
the "worst" thing that ever happened to me was my 7th grade teacher tried to convince my to become a nun. She thought I was artistic and thought I should be an artist in the motherhouse

hi jmc, how was your night out - successful?
could some one clue na7 please I was just about to ask for that clue when i had to leave this morning

Why doesn't the camel like animal from Peru with the double ll get counted?
na7 - moth ball alcohol?
clues at 3:43 and thereabouts
it would be dogman not cat man
na & 'f' sound & what you may pay on a bridge or road ***l

NA - Short sleep, cons, and charge for using a road ***l
because its not in the grid?
ty soodle
ummm stidgmere, your picture is huge and causing chat to lurch
oh. right. there is an inconvenient t in the way. thanks to your bright eyes vicuna.
lol stidgemere
but it is a pretty cake
I am a vicuna. I knows my South American camellids. ;)
(Although apparently I can't spell them. camelids. Whatever.)
whew i got the na7 -- for some reason I keep trying to type in the road fee backwards
"phantom alpaca in the grip too - it's a camelid day!"
grid even
probably because of the other clue about the butterfly
Oh fine, jmc. Blame it all on me and my clue! But go to the PB for saying it! lol =P
Oops. I'm an idiot. You didn't say it. That was really weird that I totally read it.
what why PB?
lol now you know what i was talking about vic!
hey all!
No PB. Just me being mildly insane.
Hello, stidmama.
*waves at Mother* taking a break for lunch and all... making steady (if slow) progress.
hi Stid
mildly??? *rolls eyes*
hi stid
besides i was noting i was doing backassward not that your clue was bad
:-P
*after one glance at stidmama's comment, places owl firmly on head and gives in to the eccentricity*
the propane guy will be here (he thinks) in a moment... we'll see what he thinks about the big hill between us and town.
lovely vic!
LOL vi!
Your a hoot, Vic!
hi stid
is ti nice and icy vic?
No, no, Soodlebum. That isn't me hooting. It's just the owl!

hey soodles!!!
down to 20, see you all later
bye lyn
No ice here yet, but I expect it'll get ugly tonight.
later lynxxx
bye lynxxx i hardly got to talk to you :-(
Thanks, stidmama. The quail are from last year. Synonyms sure are fun! =D
Bye, lynxxx!
VI!
hi TO
nite lynn
I know that 4WD trucks are getting in and out, but was scared to attempt our icy gully today in my front-wheel drive minivan
Hello, TO! How are you?
you called?
*check cell phone* nope not me
hi TO
Hee hee! No, that wasn't me hooting, it was just the eccentric owl on my head.
hey again TO
help with the right hand N please

*wonders what makes an owl eccentric*
no4/5
looks like latin name
Why, living on a crazy person's head, of course, jmc!
I hear a BIG diesel engine... and Lucky is saying the propane guy is here.
That sounds promising, stidmama.
LOL
yep. parked outside my bedroom window. I bet they hate the dead car in the driveway on days like this... a lot harder to fill the backyard tank.
sorry was that a clue for the right hand N?

A break? But you only just got here, TO!
well sort of
CLEARLY I need to eat more mexican food. only just found the appropriate ta4
(don't tell anyone vic but TO LURKS!)
Aha - you's been lurking.

that is what we call french toast lillian
stiddie?
Hey Stiddy, and Stidgmere, and Dorens and everybody :-)
sounds like french toast
*Checks to see who is Queen of The Chog today*
doren -- seems that you are dealing with humans, who are notoriously tricky to get straightened out (worser than cats I have heard).
Hello again, Soodlebum.
i think im gonna make french toast for dinner
Humans? Oh, they're the worst, no question. Can't stand 'em, myself. =P
I say "go" like allons-y -- or allez, allez!
parents are the bane of my existence... i wawnt to find a school in an orphanage
hence the camelids, vi?
*parental hands on hips*
Aha! The divine Ms L graces the chog......( Warning!!!!Nobody call her by her name today)
lol vic you remind me of all the people who want to save humanity but can't stand people that i work with
oh ok jmv.....now i look thick!! as ruby said earlier what was eggy bread and in (french toas) and i though because she now lives in france, she meant using french bread!!! how thick am i???!! lol
why not soodle?
Actually, I like individuals and I like humanity. It's just people who drive me crazy.
mis L?
well, if you eat a LOT of eggy bread lilliann... LOL
Doh, JMC MO 4/5.....
no not thick i could see why you thought that lillian
the divinely unsinkable Molly.... *wicked mama grin*
oh i c soodle
just a quick drop-in -- stid, Latin for name is nomen, according to my Latin dictionary. the no4 here is, unfortunately, " a gangrenous inflammation of the mouth, esp one affecting malnourished children"
There you go... a free clue!
Doren, that's a great idea to work in an orphanage school. I would like that.
*opens the pb for stiddie*
icky, jill -- but thanks! LOL
hi jilli
Whoa, that's fabulous, jillibus!
don't care if the clue wasn't right it worked!
PB was very busy when the grid changed today!!!
hi jilly
*jilli
what did I say, jmc?
exactly vi, you can come work there.. what fun to actually not have to deal with parents for a bit (I've dealt with a few too many loons this week)
Hi and bye everyone! Gotta go do errands.
you said mo4/5
bye jilli, tc
Awwww, bye, jillibus!
bye jilli
Hi & bye Jilli :-)
bye jilli!
i need the 2nd lo 5/12 please
no, I said an alternate name that happens to contain that sequence of letters. *digs in and refuses to be banished*
lo5/12 - from the neighborhood
later jill!
Cos - what I would call my neighbourhood bar....
not express, cos
*shoves stiddie into pb and slams the door*
lo5, in england is the nearest pub
but stid, there are chocolate oranges in there
*leans on the door*
in the U.S it refers to a union ...
Snap, Lilliann
*happily eats ALL the choclit oranges*
oh ok stid
*gets bored and leaves with nbt trailing behind*
*poof*

Errr... bye, jmc...
High winds and trees down all over the area. This is around the block from where I live. http://tinyurl.com/6ffy2n6

Keep taking the tablets, Vicuna - at least till the men in white coats come....
bi vye!!!! *grin* have a lovely weekend!
bye vi
Yes, I would guess about a 50 ft one. I have 80 ft pines out back. So far they are holding strong. It makes me sad to see trees down like that.
to be unwilling, cos. an old-fashioned word
Yikey, Ms L.... thats scary....
lo5 to hate without the vowel
thanks!
around here it's the trees standing alone as that one seems to have been that fall. The ones in clumps manage to diffuse the wind better
not nice molly, hope you'll be ok
Oh, Ms L - I spectacularly forgot to research the price of Tullamore Dew, as I promised you. I will rectify the situation tomorrow.
interesting website they have... can only get there if you are of legal age! or if you lie...
first co 6 /21 plz

Very red in the face.......
No worries about The Dew, Soodle. I'm content with 1608 (Bushmills) for the time being. That tree fell on a sidewalk that my son uses to get to work. The Angels were on Guard Duty today. THANK GOD.

Your a lucky lady, MsL!!
glad he is ok molly
we got another big storm today, school closed. heavy wet snow ..
I'm picking my way through this grid... slowly but surely.
i think we are all the same diane!!
i am struggling with E & Z
Golly - you transatlantic Babblers have really had a tough winter. Spring has arrived here... Today was positively balmy here.
Oh man.... enough is enough, hey ivesy ? They got quite a snowfall on the west coast here in Canada. Victoria got about 6 inches of heavy snow.
z + a lot of vowels
It's piddling down here
I have 29 remaining
as we used to say in text twist chat soodle.. pfffffffttttt lol.
yep. schools closed here two days in a row. Not my college, but I called my instructors and explained the roads were not going to be safe for me to drive in order to get to school. They weren't happy, but...
TY Dorens
im tired of it.. kind of depressing really
we're suppose to be in for some more bad though soodle.don't know about you but in the uk!

It's been a wicked winter all over the world...and in the warm climates... turmoil too.

Glan, I love your description of the weather there..... scarily accurate!
not here apparently, they said it was going to get bad again, but weather people don't always get it right, so who knows?
TY Dorens - all Zs done
we had snow the other day but nowt to talk about, certainly nowt like it was before and after christmas
I'm amazed - I live in the hills and every year since 2001 we have had snow overnight on 23rd/24th Feb and this year it didn't hapen
spooky glant.i hope it's a good omen though
we're temporarily in Arizona, but rain forecast over the weekend and snow in higher areas..... Yikes !
Diane - any update on 'the artefact'?
thanks for the hint on the z words, Dorens :-)
not yet Soodle, but being as it's small, it can't be a wig holder. I think Krista is waiting for reply from her friend who would understand the inscription.... she is sure it is in a Slavic language
Be sure to keep us informed, Diane.... My money's on some sort of religeous contraption!
I still think it has something to do with incense, (yet no holes in it,) ...or burial ashes or ???
Oh it has some religious connection because of the fish and the crosses....
hi everyone. I am struggling .... can anyone tell me if anyone has posted the stats? PLEASE ....
hi mo, volleydee, hoot owl and other s i can't remember
Voting closed half an hour ago in the Irish General election. The words 'Same circus - different clowns' echo in my head....
and lists
If somebody told me how to copy the list into my profile, I would do it......
Thanks a lot lillian ... I owe you.
yw mo
i wouldn't have a clue either soodle...i'm computor illiterate!
i need dh and bairn to help me
Soodle, copy the list from wherever you are getting it and past it into your profile text area.
anyone got the 2nd row E?
molly -- hows your power holding up?
e and piece of meat hursh
ah thanks
So far so good Eva. And you?
I'm just in the normal Babble, MsL... when I try to copy (to paste into my profile) I sorta lose the words...
yw
just fine here. so far, so good. heres hoping we are good for the weekend!
Soodle, when you paste into the Bio box?
soodle.... do you have a notepad on your computer ?? If so, you just copy and paste the list onto it.
then you can make it very slim and it just fits along side of your grid
Ooo... complications.. I don't know if I have a notepad..... I am the ultimate dinosaur of computer-land.
hints for the bottom-row N?
ti?
i am still trying to work out what a piece of meat is
Eva - short snooze, cons, and the money you pay on a road or bridge ***l...
a cut of pork, Glan
ah, TY diane
a7 - moth ball ingredient i alcohol form
I even had the cut of meat in my list LOL
TY soodle
Glan, given your earlier confession - think of a ****cloth - skimpy clothing worn by ancient men....
that's the way it goes ! :-)
the other e will give me NBT
thats (finally) NBT and NBS for me.
Soodle - that's how I got the cut of meat LOL - I'd just forgotten it also described meat as i eat it only raely
What a person with a llisp does with food... (EA 4/5)
the other e .... or the globe on which we live, minus first consonant
TY soodle
lol soodle
NBT, 63 left
i hav the n7 and t7, what's the 3rd 7?
i have a c 7 past tense of dog
CO 7/36 Glan...
co 7/36--what are the stats of the t please?

TY Dorens & Soodle
i could use stats for the T7 :)
i have the dog, what is the t7 glant?
t7/32 - to do with keeping tack of numbers
ahh. danke. :)
in m edieval times people used a t***y stick which would have a number of marks on it - then they would cut the stick and each have half. when the money was paid they both brouight =the stick halves together to be sure the amount was correct
so it ta*****
hi all
g the t7 clue
hi peri
got it, ty glant
NM found it ty
hi peri
Wow! Thanks for that Glan. Thats so interesting... I love learning where words came from.
so do I soodle
As I said - general election here today. ****ymen will feature hugely in the count. Now I know where the word comes from :-)
i love learning words, and what they mean but as my memory is shot to pieces i forget them as soon as i learn them!! how i remember words on here i don't know, but i forget babblets!!
Do you speak Welsh, Glan?
you have a general elecion today we have a referendum next week, to see if the people of wales want our assembly givernment to have lawmaking powers like the scottish parliament
yes i speak welsh
saying that, i don't remember half the words on here..lol
and i often see welsh words in the grid LOL
And do many everyday words come from Welsh?
today I see allt - which means hillside or slope
my family on my dad's side were welsh glant, but i don't know whether they all spoke welsh?
do i go to the PB for saying a word if the dictionary doesn;t recognise it LOL
It probably depends which part of Wales they came form Lilliann
and my dad's mam's side...nearly forgot!!
south glant
Whenever I'm in Scotland, I can recognise many words from Gaelic.. but Welsh has me totally bamboozled!
the further west and north you go in Wales, the more people speak Welsh
Wow it smells good in here. I fixed boy-o hamburgers and onion rings for dinner. My salad was very tasty too. : D
that's where they lived but not sure if that's where they all originate...i need to research
Gaelic pronuinciation has nme bamboozled
what's a boy- hamburger?
Whats Boy-0 burgers, Ms L?
when i use to go visit my grandparents, most of the tv programmes were always in welsh si i couldn't understand!
very difficult lange to learn
sounds good molly
They wouldn't have watched Welsh TV if they couldn;t seak the language - we've always had English TV channels here too
I am guessing Molly is referring to a person, ie. son, spouse, etc
Its amazing that celtic languages differ so much...
I think there are a lot of similarities but maybe they are more obvious when you hear the spken word
Welsh was once the language of the whole of Britain and I see remnants on the map - Henley is a corruption of Hen Llys which means old court
my nan and grandad never spoke welsh, always english
I can definitely see bits of Breton which look familiar
i know yackey da! i know i haven't spelt it right, i wouldn't know how too
first language welsh speakers have a funny attitude - i have a good friend who is a welsh speaker but because our first few conversations were in english, that's the langueg we use - if our first conversations had been in |Welsh then we would probably be suing that language to talk
iechyd dda - it means ';good health'
my typing is appalling tonight - in too much of a rush
ahh, thanks for telling me the right spelling
iechyd dda - Yackey da..... Right!!!!
we ahve some lovely idioms - the one for heavy rain is 'it's raning withches and broomsticks'
hrm. hubby seems to have forgotten that hes making dinner tonight. perhaps when, a half hour ago, i said "im not hungry right now" he thought i meant EVER.
i actually think they couldn't speak welsh, glant, as my dad was bought up in wales and then england, he knew a few words, but why weren't we taught it when we were growing up and visiting them in wales...seems strange if they knew welsh!!
The placename thing is the same here, Glan... most Irish place-names come from the Irish. Any place name beginning with Bally (and there must be gazillions) is derived from Baile, which means town.
i'm thinking your grandparents may have spoken it though if they watched welsh TV
we have 360 places beginning with Llan - which has a meaning which encompasses 'parish' or 'place of the church'
EvaN... Its time to alert Hubby.....
so most if not all of them have the saint's name as the second part
i like the longest town word, can't say it properly tho glant
i can say it when i see it but couln;t remember it all
i was brought up about 5 miles form there in Llangefni
i'm the same..lol
oh really...cool
Ah, begob, the old saint's names.... this country is awash with saints names. (Not too many saints these days, but the memories obviously linger on...)
and you can't remember it??? mmmm...lol
all the locals just call it 'LlanfairPG'
tell, hin to start cooking eva!
PB for Glan :-)
oh, darn it! - but. there's no S in the grid!Q
i don't know whether my great grandparents spoke welsh as i never met them
lol, doesn't let you off though glant!! nice try!!!lol
off to see if stid left any chocolate orange in there
Eva, when I was first married, we had a 'sharing of household duties' policy. Whoever was home from work first began to cook dinner. Which was fine, till I found him hiding round the corner from our home, waiting for me to pass by, thereby being home first, thereby having to start dinner! Be warned!!
...and i just put chicken nuggets in the oven. so much for having dinner made for me...heh
my nan use to feed me and my brother mushy peas with everything glant, well, apart from puddings! that was runny jelly and then a raw carrot before bed so we could see how to get to the toilet, luckily enough the inside one although they also had an outside one!
soodle -- i am usually in charge of dinner. and usually i dont mind it. but tonight, thanks to the Metro being -- well, the Metro, my commute home took an extra hour and i only barely beat him home. i told him flat out i wasnt cooking anything and he had to make dinner.
not keen on the runny jelly LOL
love the mushy peas
<--- is a cranky gal tonight.
i HATE MUSHY PEAS NOW!!!
orry for shouting! :)
-----< didn't last with domestic-chore-avoiding hubby!!!!
an extra hour's commute is enough to make anyone cranky eva
*sorry
that's bad soodle.i would have parked further and stopped there until he got hungry!
Fresh peas are so delicious. It is an abomination to cook them until they are mushy. And don't get me started on canned peas. Gross.
----< Cannot abide mushy peas, but quite fond of chicken nuggets!
molly -- "mushy peas" are different from just cooking them til they mushy. hard to explain...
Eva, I head a tree went down in front of a Metro train and wondered if that would affect your commute. Sounds like a good night to order out.
Mushy peas are not overcooked peas - they are dried peas, soaked overnight then cooked until a mush - quite different texture and flavour and a modern variation of 'pease pudding'
i like pease pudding!
but my nan's mushy peas were out of a tin as she couldn't cook, bless her!!
Squirming at thought of mushy peas... they look like regurgitated ...green stuff.
Oh that is just gross. People actually like that?
molly, they were saying it was a utility pole. they were single-tracking trains at the other end of the red line. but of course, it makes life miserable for ALL who ride.
ROFL - they are extra nice with mint sauce on top
mushy peas are also a veg enjoyed from where i live,up north
molly -- speaking as a picky eater, i LIKE em!
Sounds like Eva could use a hot bath and an attentive husband.
Good for you Glantarell. I shall now have to go put some dried peas to soak so that I can have some tomorrow. As a vegetable with a fresh butcher's prok pie. I can smell them already. Love 'em.
Eva, Ms L had a pic of the fallen tree..... very very scary.
yes, north of England they eat 'pie and peas' and in Wales they eat 'faggots and peas' - faggots having a different meaning on this side of the pond
Since Eva is cranky, we will give her a pass on the PB for all the mo4y's. : P
Sheesh, Moll (ok, send me to the PB, I don't care) couldn't we all do with a hot bath and an attentive husband....
no, molly, i hate them and think, i had to eat them three times a day with every meal, including breakfast, for 6 weeks when my brother and i would visit!!!
i'd rather a hot shower!
and fish, chips and mushy peas glant
oh, yum!
http://tinyurl.com/6ffy2n6 Not the fallen tree we were speaking of, but one in my neighborhood.
Or maybe a cold shower.........
ROFLMAO
62 left and i am thoroughly stuck - might have to go to bed
Thanks Glantarell, now I am off to soak some dried peas so that I can have them mushy with fresh made butcher's pork pie. Or even on their own with mint sauce. Then I am off to bed because this grid is driving me nuts!
is that pork pie with jelly ontop pat?
I have Carlee's bagel recipe working, so there will be fresh baked goodies here in the morning.
Night Pat!
Now, see what you did, Glan? Patxxx was happily lurking, and you have forced her into a mushy pea situation. Shame on you!
I've neer made bagels - do you poach them before baking?
Soodle, it has been my experience that the phrase "attentive husband" is an oxymoron.
yes, shame on you glant!! lol
nuggets are ready. yay. *yawn*
You mean like 'Army Intelligence', Moll?
Mine too MsL - after the first year or so - and i've had 3 to test the theory
enjoy eva!
Yes, and jumbo shrimp.
The power went out here for about 15-20 minutes and I was alone in the house. luckily I like candles. I lit one in the dinning room, living, kitchen and my bedroom. I also had an electric candle.
*hangs head in shame for making Pat go to soak peas*
LOL :-)
and two flashlights :) I am always prepared but was never a girl scout
I'm going to have nightmares about mushy peas now.
ah, candle light is so romantic...
no nolly, you shall have sweet dreams about the yumminess. TRUST me. :)
Oooh..Peri.... sounds romantic (speaking of mushy peas)
Sorry MsL!
so you shoould glant...awful food!!!! i have nightmares about mushy peas!!!!
sounds nice peri, and cheap!
I have a whole "power outage" kit. Batteries, candles, battery operated fans for the summer, a battery powered radio. Can you tell I've been through this a few times. Liquor is a must for power outages. All the rest is fluff.
Ms L... Liquor is a must. Period.
I need to make up at least two kits. one for downstaris and one for upstairs. good idea
Said the Irish woman who doesn't drink whiskey. They are praying for you at St. Pat's, Soodle.
the liquor sounds good molly!! :)
Mmm, off to bed to dream of liquor, candle light and attentive husbands
not romantic, I was the only one here, unless you count the cats :)
I am a heathen awaiting conversion!
*Notices Glant left out mushy peas*
my dh isn't here so no-one to get romantic with!! :((
Good night (((Glan)))
here's hoping tomorrow's grid is more user friend;y! night night - yes, left out mushy peas - their side effect doesn't go well with the roamnce and attentive husband dream LOL
I am really not liking this grid. 26 left
mmmm, don't mention the mushy peas!!!!!!!
Um Peri, not counting the cats when it comes to romance...okay?
ok
nite glant, tc and sweet dreams
could really use some of that attentivness tho
ROFL
know what you mean peri, my cats cuddle me more than hubby!!
A wise old woman once told me (she was neither wise nor old, I only said that for effect) A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle...
even when he is here!
lol soodle
She also told me that its OK for a woman to be on the shelf, once she gets taken off and dusted every now and again............
I am way overdue for dusting :O
want to do mine peri?
no lil
And,having shared those pearls of wisdom, I will retire to the Soodle boudoir. Good night all. :-)
nite soodle, tc and sweet dreams
spoil sport peri!
tell you what Lilliann, I will do your ironing then you can have time to dust
hi everyone

Min, hello, how are you?

Quick unpoof to say ((((Mom))))
(((Soodle)))
Listed at 70 words and got down to 9 with a list Mom.
Lovely to see you Mom... How are you?
very well, Soodle. How are you?
I am good, thank you Mom. :-)
i just had a moment. got a facebook request from someone i knew when we were little. i was explaining it to hubby and it came out as "wow, i havent seen this guy in like 20 years!" i just felt old. :(
Watch out everyone. Soodle is unpoofing again.
wishing you pleasant dreams Soodle
Eva, what was his response?
something like "please dont put it that way" heh
flied
I know that feeling Eva. It's weird when you start clocking your life in decades.
lol
*oopsie*
thanks Eva, didn't have that one
Margaritas in the PB Eva.
my gift to you.
Am I unpoofing, or repoofing? Not quite sure... either way... I'm off to bed. Hugs to everyone (((())))
oh lord no. no more alcohol after last week. *UGH*
((hugs)) soodle
nite again soodle.....you just don't want to leave us!! :))
Oh wow. A week later she is still stung. Must have been a hellofa night.
vomiting on + off for 6 hours has that effect. my body is still sore.
*Passes Eva a hot tea*
heh, just had some green tea with honey when i get home today. :)
does green tea have a taste? or does it taste like regular Lipton tea?
hubby is at least doing a good job of making me giggle tonight
it has a taste. not sure how to describe it... its a light flavor...
it doesn't taste the same as normal tea mom, i prefer it with lemon
I think it tastes different Mom. I'm not a fan of regular tea. I usually drink the herbal stuff.
I only like Lipton regular
not a fan of flavored tea at all
sweet fennel and nettle tea is nice
its a light flavor, mom. you might like it...
I developed a thing for chamomille tea after my husband passed. It was the only thing that kept me centered. I like it with honey and lemon.
I got a free teabag in my regular Lipton box
You might like it iced too Mom.
Oh Molly, that had to knock you off your feet. You needed to be centered
oi never use to be mom, but there are so many flavoured ones now. some are crap and others quite tasty. i only drink black normal tea now so it's nice to have something with a flavour
Herbal tea in the middle of the night when you can't sleep is very soothing.
i used to hate any sort of tea other than "plain" tea (with milk and sugar). even honey ruined it for me. now i like most kinds, but i still dont like super-black tea.
i've just bought some oolong tea
"What is that you are drinking?" "Crap tea with cream and sugar"
i was the same as you eva
I imagine it would be Molly
my mom likes peppermint tea
Does anyone know what has happen to Lickety?
he split, Bichon, :-0)
(kidding)
Mom, laughing at "crap tea with cream and sugar".
Ha,ha, ha.But, seriously
my mother is is the only brit who cant make a proper cuppa. she makes it extremely weak. when the relatives come to visit, if she offers tea, they say "yes, but can we make it ourselves?"
I would imagine Lickety is just taking a break.
oh not a clue Bichon, maybe he is on holiday
I can't abide "weak" anything. I like my coffee and tea strong. I always use two bags when I make a cup of tea.
I like weak tea
that's how i like it eva, and you'll be surprised how many other brits like it that way!
i use to like it weak, milky and 1 sugar , now i have it weak and black
my mother uses one bag for a whole teapot. its pretty much just slightly colored hot water...heh
2 tea bags molly??!!!
i always feel like i haven't grown up because i don't drink tea or coffee
I use a tea bag twice, 1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar and a touch of milk
Hi Good enough
i just dip it in 3 or 4 toimes and then reuse it again later, nice and also cheap!! lol
hi good
same her Lilliann
hello all
Good Enough, im still not a coffee gal. i will occasionally have a latte (which is barely coffee) or if i REALLY need a jolt i might make a cup of coffee at work. but then im wired all day...
here*
i don't drink coffee as it makes me sleep and i hate the taste of anything coffee!
I make up for the both of you. I am a bean grinder. I don't drink a lot of coffee, but when I do, it must be a good cup. Especially in the morning.
my grandma, God rest her soul, made the best percolated coffee. Her coffee was the only coffee I could drink
Mom, I tried to find a Corning percolator on ebay. They are hard to come by. I would love to have one.
my hubby has to have 3 tsps of coffee in a pint mug with milk! yuk!!!
i LOVE the smell of coffee but it just doesn't do anything for me
my parents had one years ago, they loved it
i had a cuppa coffee at work last week because i felt like my head was gonna hit the desk. i ended up bouncing around the office all day...too jittery to actually DO work!
Wow Eva, you are very caffeine sensitive. How are you with cold meds?
we don't have a percolater
im fine with meds, fine with soda, fine with tea. its specific to coffee only!
Like me I guess. Coffee has no effect on me. But cold meds wire me for sound.
i'm the same as you good, if i'm going past a coffee shop. the smell of freshly ground coffe is lovely, just hate the taste!
cold meds??
percolator's are hard to come by, they are all Mr. Coffee type now
Cold medication with ephenedrine in it Lillian. I love the smell of fresh ground coffee. I think it's one of the best smells there is.
cold meds actually make my "floofy" -- physically awake but mentally wonky.
oh, ok, thanks molly
Floofy. Excellent word.
Molly, do you want a plug in or stove top percolator?
Any kind would do Mom.
its the perfect word for that feeling, innit?
Molly ...... http://cgi.ebay.com/VTG-CORNING -WARE-COFFEE-POT-PERCOLATOR-SPICE-LIFE -LN-/120686961414?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_ 0&hash=item1c1980e306
sorry, I forgot how to do the tiny url
I'm actually thinking about getting a Coleman one. That way I can use it if the power goes out. My "pour hot water through the drip coffemaker basket" method leaves a lot to be desired.
My favorite new word of the week is "asshattiude".
How about instant Sanka- just like Mom used to make?
Not this Mom- MY mom.
Instant coffee gives me the eebie geebies.
dad drank Sanka
lots of Coleman ones on ebay as well Molly
Have you ever visited someone who offered you coffee- and then whipped out the instant decaf?
So disappointing.
look at the time. I should get off here and find something to eat. Good night to all of you ((hugs))
I bet Kap.
dont the brits drink a lot of instant coffee?? brits? ya here?
happy weekend, babblers
nite mom, tc and big hugs.x
The Brits are gone to bed.
i don't drink coffee eva. my hubby does
(((Lilliann))) so great seeing you. Pleasant dreams
and you as well Welki, good night
the brits may be gone to bedfordshire, but the wannabes are still up!
3 large tbsp in a pint mug, don't know what that is in the us as we don't do cups
Speaking of Brits- do you like Mike Leigh's movies?
i'm hardly a wannabe hursh!
see? instant coffee. :)
i didn't mean you, lilliann, i meant me :)
hi hursh .. things a teeny bit brighter today?
Hello welki! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
oh ok, sorry, am tired!
yes, thank you for asking welki. things look more hopeful and today wasn't as bad as i expected it to be.
i don't know about you, but i'm one of those folks who'll worry about what's going to happen tomorrow ... i know you have to do that sometimes, wish i could focus more on the here and now
but alot of brits do have percolators now! it's just my hubby doesn't like, lattes or whatever else you can make. he likes a normal cup of coffee eve
*eva
today just looked like it would be bad cause of a particular meeting, but it went better than i expected.
mine, too :)
my parents only drink plain, regular coffee. but most people over here opt for a coffee pot over instant. its just a different flavor you get from brewing...
my nan had a percolater 30 years ago!
if i understand correctly, i believe a percolator is different from a coffee pot, no?
my hubby just likes a normal cup of coffee
not quite the same now tho..lol
i have never had coffee and this conversation is entirely over my head.
haven't got a clye. my nan's used to go pkkkkkkkk
when it was making it, but as i said it was 30 years agho!!
*ago
i hate coffee hursh, it makes me ssleep which doesn't help!
is it not a machine with a glass jug where you put coffee and water in eva?
saying that i could do with one now!
F's Finished! 7 left

Hi Welki. Hi Red. Percolated coffee is different from drip coffee. I think it's a slower brew. My Mother used to say that in hell instant coffee is served in styrofoam cups. : D
N's Nabbed! 5 left
i can drink anything ... even kap's sanka
ewwww. I don't drink Sanka. My mother did.
never tried Sanka. mostly I just do drip.
alot of drip, but drip. I would like a french press...
Nothing worse than a cup of convenience store coffee from a pot that has been sitting on the burner for an hour.
Postum!
yay! done (postum! haven't heard postum since probably the last time i heard ovaltine!)
I have 24 left- lately I can't get much better than that.
I like all methods of makiing coffee.... I sometimes even get my 50 year old Corning ware percolator and perk a pot !
Ovaltine and Maypo. Breakfast of champions.
ugh. what is going on with our politics? why is austin goolsbee, on the daily show, sounding like a republican PR guy on fox news? is there ANY democrat with a backbone anywhere to be found???
hehehe, diane - i have a farberware percolator
Postum goes with the Fels-na****a soap era.
with Tang, Molly
I like drip... pressed.... and for Christmas was given a Keurig coffee machine.... LOVE it !
Bingo Welki!
The gov. of Wisconsin is a sweetheart.
lol
don't you need two keurigs if you want to sit and have a cup with someone else?
Bernie Sanders has a backbone.
Diane, do you have the Keurig with the filter cup?
who's this bernie sanders? i must look him up
I get the news confused these days- which story is about Wisconsin and which is about Libya.
Bernie Sanders is our lone socialist.
keurigs make stuff FAST. teas, coffees, cocoa...
my grandad used to drink Postum, and I used to keep a jar on hand for my Mormon friends.
who's "our"? the whole country?
See, that is my hesitation about getting a Keurig. Fast=weak.
Senator from Vermont.
Molly.... I bought the little K-cup so that I can use my own coffee, if that's what you mean ??
oh right, i love that guy!
and i love that one from new york, who yelled about the 9-11 health care bill... what's his name?
Yes Diane, that is what I mean. I am somewhat addicted to Dunkin Donuts fresh ground.
you can adjust the temperature of the water, but thats about it. so if you prefer control over your tea/coffee, maybe a keurig isnt for you... i have enjoyed the teas ive made in ours, though. :)
It wasn't schumer, was it?
yes, ive read that people make their own k-cups with their own coffee...
<-- has an issue with $1.00 (or more) for a cup of coffee or tea in her own kitchen
I don't think I could do the Keurig. I would feel guilty about all the little plastic cups I was throwing away.
Thanks Eva. That's what I thought. I can make a small pot in my drip coffee maker. I think I'll stick to that.
me too, red. and like i said, i'm cheap.
Not if you get a full bodied coffee Molly.... the Green Mountain , "Dark Magic" will curl your hair.... I run through an extra 1/2 cup !
no, not schumer - younger guy
I should get a french press though, then I could make one cup...
It's slipping my mind at the moment...
Hush, I saw the breaking news on Libya today it was a pretty alarming thing.
anthony weiner!
i like having it BECAUSE we dont drink coffee. i can keep a few k-cups of coffee in the house to offer to guests, but id doesnt require us to buy a separate coffee pot.
he rocks
Welki, I have that same issue. The dollar per cup.
most work out to about 50 cents a cup.
They keep saying political trends are a pendulum, but ever since I can remember it's been w
swinging to the right, and not the other way.
Eva, I think that is a great reason to have one. Or for someone who is the only coffee drinker in their house.
I love this schizzy conversations.
I paid under $ 10 for 18 .... at Target I think. I may take some home to Canada with me
and hey, if i actually get the random blue-moon craving for some coffee, ive already got it onhand. :)
Schlameil, shlamazzel, hossenfeffer incorporated.
i am so anti-coffee that i don't even want to have any available to offer to guests. i hate the smell. my house, my beverages.
i saw smaller packages here, diane .. 10 for $8 or $9, depending on what kind it was
T's Toppled! 4 left
(plus tax i suppose)
that's why I'm taking a few home with me ;-)
i can back you up on that, hurshy. :) i just dont feel that strongly against it, myself, so i dont mind being able to offer it to others. :)
it's a real big pendulum, maybe, kap
my other half wanted one, but i don't want another applicance on the counter (plus i'm cheap, if i haven't mentioned that before :)
We have the room ( brought the Tundra truck down here this year )
we got ours as a wedding gift...all the k-cups so far too! hehe
I still love a Timmies "double-double" :-)))
I grew up in a house that smelled like coffee. Coffee smells like home to me.
Diane, my husband used to rave about Timmies.
i did my stint at tims when i first came to canada .. was a good way to meet folks and it turned out that one of my customers networked me back into my line of work
I've had 4 granddaughters whose first jobs were at Tim Hortons.... I used to love to give them a hug after work...... I told them they were wearing "eau de Timmies" !!
what did bank of america do now?
*lol* i was the drive-thru diva
My Mother couldn't stand the smell of popcorn. I used to always wonder about her because of that.
lol :-))
and I have 21 words left.... going to work on them for a while. Anyone for coffee ?? LOL
i'm thinking a manhattan would be nice to end the work week
We just went to Chick-fil-A for a light supper.... don't have them in Canada.... it wasn't bad !
How many words tonight, please?
135
ooh, i should put that on my list for may!
Thanks, Diane
you're welcome, and hi tabby
moat
Ooops
we forgive you because your name is tabbycat.
Purrrr
7's - co, ta, and...?
na7
na
Chick-Fil-A is close to KFC in that their seasoning is one of a kind.
now i want chicken
hmmmmmm
i have chicken - which is unusual. i'm mostly vegetarian, but these leftovers were going to go to waste if i didn't take them
I had the salad with fruit and strips of chicken... everything was so very fresh... no bagged veggies.
I try to stay away from fried food. But once a year, I treat myself and my family to KFC.
but hursh, i want the bad chicken, the fried chicken from a fast food joint *lol*
i love chick-fil-a's food. im morally torn, though, because as an organization, they give money to anti-gay groups.
you don't want perfectly cooked chicken with a delicious rub from a caterer??
only two or three times a year for us, molly ... twice in the summer with camping neighbors (tradition) and once when we get a wild hair
phantom fellatio
no, hursh .. i had perfectly cooked chicken last night. this chicken that i want has to come from a suspicious kitchen
just sayin'
ugh
i give up, help me with the na7
Mmm....bad chicken. Yes Welki, part of the treat of fried chicken is eating it outside. Camping or on a picnic.
how would you know this, esprit? (all i do is check the health records on restaurants before i go there, never their politics or philosophies ... maybe i should)
na 7/36 .. sounds like a cleaning agent
It was Eva who said that about Chick-Fil-A.
na + is your husband working towards his **D degree? + for whom the bell ***ls
oh, sorry, esprit .. you were phantoming fellatio *LMAO*
thank you, and yes, he is!
lol
so eva .. please let me know
( i sort of guessed that )
hi dorens
ty Dorens
Welki, quit getting chicken mixed up with fellatio. : P
yeah, i figured you probably had a vague memory of it
was trying to figure out how to answer you welki lol
hi. boy do i miss lickety. don't have time for this
chick-fil-a is owned quite openly by conservative christians (thats why they are closed on sundays). just google "chick-fil-a anti-gay" and you will get a ton of hits...
I miss Lickety too. It is WAY too time consuming to cross check against a saved word document list.
(esprit is glad i didn't ask her to explain)
use a sticky note, molly with a list from a babbler. it's not so bad on small grids like this
quite true welki
*weighing chicken against beliefs*
I predict Chick-Fil-A will go under because of that. It's counter productive to mix your morals with your business.
please explain welki (sticky note)
i sure do love my mitty kitty. she's so pretty. this is the face that launched a thousand ships.
although i'm open-hearted, i don't know if i have a problem with someone who has opposing beliefs and makes good chicken ... will have to think about this. who'd think fried chicken would sprain my brain
molly, its not new -- they actually based their business ON their morals. and i generally have no issue with that. but its a sticky situation -- they themselves say they have no specific issue with the gay community, but they visibly align themselves with groups that very much DO have a problem.
you use a mac. right, dorens?
yes and i do have sticky notes. so i just put the list onto a sticky note... i see the idea. but i'm probably missing some of the finer points
on your taskbar, there's a little yellow square that looks like a sticky note. make your babble screen about 3/4 the size (you can adjust so you don't compress chat) ...
Me, I just want to buy your product if it's good. If you keep your moral issues to yourself, we will both be happy. Ah well.
paste the words into the sticky note and place it on the right (or left) of your babble screen. elongate it and make the font as big as you like
what if the moral issue is IN the product - like the conditions the chickens have to live in before die and become your meal? is that different?
see, i'd have never known about chick-fil-a ... now that i do, should it make a diff?
(did this conversation start because fil-a is in the grid? cause if so, that's hilarious)
welki, i can chage font style, but don't see a way to change size
how do you know, hurshy, if your fruit and vegies are not harvested by indigent or transient immigrants who are worked beyond their limits?
font - show fonts. you'll get a pop up window, dorens
good evening babblers!
i don't. i have to work to oppose all these problems.
for me, thats why i said im torn. i do still eat there, but now i just feel wrong doing it. do i want to give my money to a company who gives money to organizations that actively work against several of my friends' rights? i mean, i guess there are plenty of other companies that do the same, but i actually KNOW about this one... its a tough call for me. if i dont eat there, will it matter?
your head will explode.
my head does explode. well, it aches a lot.
balance and pick the battles that you want to fight that address right and wrong. sometimes, you just have to have the chicken.
maybe i should just vow to donate some money to gay rights groups every time i eat there...
well, i've always been sensitive about animals, so that's one of my things. cause i feel like they are even less capable than humans of fighting for themselves.
the kid in the back who's making the chicken, eva, and the one that takes your order and money probably don't have any idea of this issue ... now that i do, i'll do some research and make a choice
yeah. not passing a judgment here at all. just thinking out loud. not sure of my own feelings, so i certainly wouldnt judge someone else. :)
can i just say, i recommend doing this w a little wine in ya - i have found words i haven't been able to find all day.
that's okay .. just got me thinking. i JUST put two take-and-bake pizzas into the oven that are made by a company who also has a "christian" theme (even in their menus). i never would have thought to google them
well i just had a glass and i'm still stymied with 16
heh, maine your username should be WINElover. ;)
they're SO good. do i even want to look?

night kaplan
night, Kap
night kappy
sweet dreams kaplan
good night kap
we stayed home, too. There is a gully between our place and the only road into town, which keeps ice on it late into the day... I missed some fun lessons *sad mama student look* BUT I got some good work done on the paper *satisfied look*
good job stid!
a trade off for sure, but not having to navigate icy roads is good too!
after all the hoopla the weathermen gave us yesterday about last night's temp and today's condition, I had to go to work because none of it actually happened :(
pini, we got near a foot, just from my eyeball guesstimate
bummer pini -- but at least you have the weekend now!
awww, poor pini
they really hyped us up, too, but i am sure the winds caised damamge somewhere. trees and such
I got dry ground, bright sunshine, and freezing breeze...
3 away from nbt
...nothing to allow me to stay home.
The front yard is down to an inch (melted in the sunshine). the backyard has between four and five inches (shady)
i have some areas in the front yard that are at least 4 feet deep, other spots are showing bare ground.
it never got above freezing here today -- it's all sun evaporation
<-- has to drive an hour to see snow worthy of playing in...
we hit a high of nearly 60
(we're supposed to hit around 15F tonight)
i think our high was 10°
no down to 20s
I would have preferred to not miss school, but then I suppose the trade-off is I didn't slide off the road and wreck my car.
that's a HUGE shift, TO
help with the bottom row N please?
na7
hence the winds
pini, drive two more hours and you can visit us! :-D
I wish I could stid...
short snooze + consonant + for whom the bell ***ls
...did you hear I may be looking at letting the rig go for something more mileage economical (gas sucks)
oh dear... *sad mama look* you LOVE that truck!
ty both
I know...I'm pretty disappointed, too...
how much are you paying for gas? shoo said 3.67 in NV
aw, pini
I will need to get a rig like that when I start teaching. esp if I am subbing in Mason county -- lots of rural locations on twisty roads
we have 3.49 at the closest station to us
fi6 up today at $3.29/gal
and for nbt, second row, second column E?
last thursday i paid 3.09. i dread gassing up this weekend
el5
missing an al 4 and an al 5
WHY do i keep thinking elpha is a word???
babblet, EL6 e + anagram of big cat
al + dbl vowel
because of the ep5
epha is what you're thinking feather. i tried it too.
al 5/14 is first letter....
al5 = a + dbl cons + dbl vowel
which is a babblet not in the grid today
el5 = e + Tarzan wore a **** cloth
ahhh, ok
thank you for spelling that one out pini. i wasn't looking at the right L, and was going in circles!
:)
I think our cabana boys should wear those....
* imagining *
yes, thanks pini! I am now down to 15, and back to the paper. I have one more small section in the body, and then the conclusion section and then I think I am done with that for the day and can work on something else. I took nearly a 3-hour break!
down to 47, getting pini's list
;)
don't work too hard, stid!

hi UU
how are things uu?
Good, TO! We went to the eye doctor today (my dad had cataract surgery just before he fell) and all is well there. Got a long-handled shoehorn, a sock aid, and elastic shoelaces although he still refuses to consider a shower chair.
Says he will use the downstairs shower, which means someone has to come in and install handrails on all the stairs and a grip in the shower.

Yes; I can't be too angry at her, crossy, because she has her own health challenges (and had always made it clear that she wanted to spend her last years with her children, something in which he had no interest). Complicated situation. She was there for him 9 years ago when he had heart bypass surgery but this time she just wasn't up to it.
good night everyone! have to be up early again for doctor tomorrow

went great, stid - he's healed fine, recovered some vision, and doesn't have to take one set of drops any more; the other two we'll taper off over the next week.
that is spectacular news, sue! good for him!
heh. it was -5 when I got up this morning. and windy to boot
we had a big rainstorm come through, but the heavy rain was brief
brrrrr. that's F, right? I think we actually were 10 - we were lucky our pipes didn't freeze, from the way the floor felt when I woke up
yes, F, so something like -20 C
how are all the critters handling the cold? Lucky hates it... but then he goes and lies down in it when he doesn't want to come in!
mostly they stay inside, except the horses. and they huddle up and eat more.

if i only had a brain.. . . .toot ta tootala toot
i'm not sure i count as company tonight, anyway.
no? why not?
heading for the pillows. have the beginning of a sinus headache and have to work tomorrow. good luck on the grid! see you later!
just cranky. got really riled by a client today
bye lbd feel better
yes. . . how did that make you feel? :)
pissy
lol
what did the client do?
oh, managed to push several buttons all in one conversation.
pics from my late night last night can be found at FB Artists Against War DC
see you are suppose to set the lock on your buttons before having those kinds of conversations
had a total break down, crying and yelling at me and slamming things around on the counter in the lobby because she didn't like her bill--
but gave me permission to do blood work and a bunch of stuff to the dog and never said a thing at that time about having no money, needing to keep costs down, setting a limit for costs, or asking about payment options
when, had she said something in advance, i COULD have done things less expensively (like sending blood to a different, slower but less expensive lab)
oh that is so not fair
so obviously, the thing to do is cry and yell, right?
i don't blame you for being angry
and then she breaks out the whole "well, should I just put the dog down?" bullcrap
yes you should have cried and yelled! lol
won't give me the opportunity to, oh, say, prioritize treatment options... the dog had multiple problems, what with being geriatic, large breed, and not having been seen in 3 years.
these problems were not helped by the owner treating for the last year and a half with a totally inappropriate human medication that has resulted in liver damage, when had she JUST CALLED AND ASKED prior to starting the dog, we'd have given her free advice.
and then she has the gall to complain because "this is more expensive than her kids' doctor bills!"
does her kid have liver problems? i think not
when i point out that that is usually due to the use of insurance, and she clarifies to say that it's because her doctor uses a sliding fee scale, i pointed out that sliding fee scales usually work by way of government subsidies, which means my tax money is paying her kids' bills.
she stares blankly at me like she either doesn't see the point, or doesn't understand the words.
a lot of people don't understand that concept
i think she's probably one of those 27% of people on food stamps who think they get no government assistance. *headdesk*
very likely
and the whole time she's whinging about how she doesn't have any money because she doesn't have a job, but she's got multiple facial piercings, and perfectly manicured acrylic nails.
a friend may have done the nails but do make a point
well frankly i don't give a crap how many holes she puts in herself, but unless she's home piercing, those things are expensive! and manicures are not exactly cheap either. One manicure would've paid 2/3 of her damn vet bill.
probably has a hard time getting a job because of the face piercing
and maybe she'd have a better chance finding a job if she didn't have multiple large facial rings? not that it says a damn thing about ability in reality, but still...we live in a very small, conservative town. peircings and tattoos do NOT increase your chances of getting hired around here unless you're pulling trees for a logger or working on the floor at the sawmill.
they don't help in a big city either except for a job doing piercings and tattoos--and those require a license
all in all, a frustrating waste of my oxygen talking to her, and I expect that I'll get jacked on the bill, because we were TRYING to be accomidating and let her pay part of the bill today, and write 2 post dated checks for the rest. what odds you wanna lay that both of those checks bounce?
sorry my daddy taught me only to bet on a sure thing so unless you let me take the checks WILL bounce. . . .
oh, right, i forgot the part where she made a crack about how it must be nice to make a doctor's wages. I pointed out to her that I'm 6 years out of school, still paying on my student loans, driving a 15 year old car with no dome light and a broken windshield, and live in a drafty mobile home with plastic on the windows.
well better 1/3 than nothing -- hard to take back the treatment
i once again got the blank stare
i never had the notion that vets made that much as people doctors
people always assume lawyers are rich too though
i SHOULD have offered her the phone and had her call the other veterinary clinics in the county to compare prices. maybe that'd have settled her shit a little, since I know quite well she's already AT the least expensive clinic around
so you were talking the other day about imaginative ways to get your bill paid
yeah?
have you considered part of your intake being a discussion of the potential fees and the possibility of prioritizing care?
shut miss pierce queen 2011 down at the git-go?
i'm always happy to do estimates and go over things in advance, but when I say "i'd like to do blood for this, and blood for this, and check this, that, and those" and the owner says "yeah, that's fine" and never says a single word along the lines of "how much does that cost?" I assume it doesn't matter how much it costs...
the other idea i had was a prepay plan. . . but i don't know enough about your financial structure to lay it out
well but there is an opportunity missed for you to say -- this may be expensive, is money going to be a problem for you
probably a stupid assumption, but i was kinda pushed for time and over-scheduled this morning anyway, what with being the only doctor on and letting this particular client squeeze in at the last minute even though we really didn't have time for her anyway...
then they can either say little foofoo is worth it, or no, lets talk
we'd be thrilled to pieces if people wanted to pre-pay, and I do suggest that in any discussion of pet insurance... though probably not enough to other clients
or did you mean pre-pay for today's work?
i was thinking sending $15-20/month whether they owe us money or not...
i wouldn't say stupid I would say you are only 6 years in practice--i have practiced law for 30+ years
which is what I used to do
i would suggest sitting down sometime and work out a membership plan where they could pay, say $300 annually for unlimited a,b, c services and 1/2 price for x, y, z serivces
oh no. people like this pop up often enough that i should know better. there's 2 types of people who don't care what the bill will be, and the more common of those are the ones who won't be paying it anyway so why should they care? far less rare are the ones who don't care because they can afford whatever it is.
i am the i care even if i can afford it because it is a cat not a child
:-)
hi, jes and jmc!
but then I always ask how much things cost
i do at people doctors too though
tough being in business for yourself, yes?
right. so you'd have asked what the blood work would run prior to giving me permission to do it.
exactly but i know i am odd
not come back pissed and break down crying about the bill after having given permission for the work.
Seems to me our vet always tells us how much things will cost before we go ahead and do it?
see i love my cat, but when she was hit by a car and taken to the most expensive vet in the area by neighbors i went in, thanked them, asked what future costs were and said I would take my car home thank you and paid the bill and left
the next day i took her to the cheap vet and was very happy
*take my cat home
i usually do, uusue, but like i said--i was hurried and tired and trying to get too many things done at once, because i'm the only doctor on today.
and did I read it right - she was giving the dog human medication??????
I am done! I have fireworks! de5/14 was my last word
anyway i would think about the prepaid services like the legal prepaid services
One of those times when I think there should be a test before we allow people to have pets....
whoo hoo min
yay, min!
yes. the dog's been on Aleve daily for a year and a half. and now it's liver enzymes are something like 10 times higher than normal
the two are likely closely related.
uu there are pics from my night last night at Artist Against War - DC on FB
good heavens. why would....well, never mind. I would be angry. I am angry.
Had she called and asked ANY VET before starting the Aleve, she'd have been told no, don't do that, it'll put your dog at a very high risk of liver damage.
ooh - let me see if I can find them, jmc!
see i would google to see if there were potential problems or as you said call first and ask
For absolutely nothing but the time it took her to dial the phone, I'd have discussed joint supplements that are safe for the liver, weight control, and informed her that the only OTC anti-inflammatory she should consider giving a dog is aspirin.
but then i remember the woman who said she was taking 3 times the recommended herbal remedy because since it was an herbal remedy it couldn't hurt her
*smack*
yeah. because natural = perfectly safe, we'll go ahead and disregard the fact that rattlesnake venom is 100% organic and all natural!
people are so clueless about toxins
ouch
Clue for the first al5 please?
they get all hysterical about things that won't hurt them and then gobble down artificial sweetners and other toxins without a thought
add another letter in the middle of the first al4
add a large cat?
* sneeking in * Koda has health insurance. I paid $100 initial "membership" and $20/mo for an annual comprehensive exam and all visits (medications and/or treatment outside 'the plan' are extra and I always ask when they suggest doing something).
lol what i always say jes is that bella dona is organic
HI
I bet this same woman who was giving Aleve to the dog would have told you in all (false) authority that chocolate would kill the dog so she'd never give it so much as a bite
TY jes!
yeah - one group of scientists I am on had someone come in and ask about creating some antibacterial thing that had "no chemicals, no liquids, and no UV". We told her that didn't leave anything.
hi herin sorry didn't mean to ignore you
no liquids? what?
Well hi hi
it was weird.
hi, herin!
people think chemicals are all artificial and that always boggles my mind!
why didn't you tell them that you have the perfect thing? it's called a bacteriophage.
* sneeking out *
come back pini!!!
actually we suggested gamma rays, but that wasn't what she had in mind.
*pout*
and then watch the horror when they finally realize midway through the explanation that you mean a *gasp* virus
lol what is a bacteriophage?
lol gamma rays!
heh. yeah, radiation was gonna be my fall-back suggestion
it's a virus that infects bacteria.
(nah, it's ok...don't want to interrupt)
you is evil women
just jawing pini
yo, pini!
oh, feel free to interrupt, pini... i probably need sidetracked from my seething.
oh okay i be a lawyer not a doctor
i am evil, it's true.
(was just offering info to support jmc's suggestion)
okay i need to print out directions to my early morning meeting . . . sigh
and i can't even take my netbook because my son broke his laptop in the middle of midterms so he has borrowed it
you is not evil silly jes!
oh, right, pini! I've thought about insurance for my dog but it seems too expensive; my SO is pretty knowledgeable about taking care of her so it's pretty much just routine care
clue for 1st al 5
plz
i think pet insurance is a great thing, pini, in some cases... not for me though, because multi-pet policies are so limited, and buying an individual policy on each pet would put me in the poor house all on it's own.
early morning meeting on a saturday? no fun!
did you ty to add a big cat tommie?
add a second consonant to the middle of the first al4
al5 = a + dbl cons + dbl vowel
but very common in my life uu
if i go back to practicing law i will be able to go back to sleeping in on saturday mostly
thanx pinikula
i prefer the pre-payment option, because then the balance on the owner's account can be used towards whichever animal needs it.
but that reminds me, we got lost this afternoon looking for a credit union, I should look up where it is...
I understand, jes...it was just a thought...as for the multi-pet issue, tho, my dau only had to pay 1 membership fee (for her 2 dogs), but the $20/mo wasn't 'adjusted', it was $20/mo per dog
well like i said jes look up the prepaid legal business model
okay i am off!
*poof*
sleep sweet, jam. thanks for letting me rant
fireworks...thanx ya'll. gnight
I think the 'insurance' plan and the 'prepay' could be considered similar for you, jes...in that the owner would simply pay a certain amount every each mo5 and expenses would be deducted from any balance they may have; with any excess being deducted as continued payments are received.
wtg tommie
night jmc
but I'll shush now...does anyone need any clues?
yay tommie!
yeah; it's too bad more owners don't think of that before they need it ;)
we've had a couple people want to sign up for insurance plans after their animal gets sick, and then don't understand why I won't lie to the insurance company and tell them the dog has no existing problems.
You might consider setting up owners who get their pets from you or any shelter you work with...
After our first schnauzer got pancreatitis and diabetes, we vowed to get insurance for a next dog
I am catching up on work news via their website. i swear it is the only way I know stuff
after the fact doesn't work very well, jes...been there/done that...but I don't know that I'd have my Koda if I didn't have a info provided to me by friends who already had pets w/insurance (or at least a knowledge that it was out there)
I agree Pini
i do hand out pet insurance info in all our puppy packs. I should add a little flier about prepaying directly to the clinic as another option.
OK, found the credit union. No wonder we got lost (it's right near the intersection of two interstates; hard to get there without getting on some interstate that you don't want)
...and if they visit without an insurance plan and/or pre-pay plan, attach a flyer to their visit papers whenever they do come to see you "for future reference"
whenever = every time
herin, you guys doing ok down there?
what are you trying to do, sue?
<-- hoping I've not said too much out of line, jes....just thinking off the cuff...
hi, pini, just trying to find the credit union that we got lost trying to get to today (my dad didn't quite remember exactly how to get there)
ahhh ...
no, nothing out of line at all. i was actually just distracted by sending an email to Bruce requesting he add a blurb about pet insurance and direct pre-payment to the website :D
ah, I see, being pro-active! :)
that's right! retaliate proactively!
(you might also consider adding a short blurb about it in a phone message that owners can listen to while their on 'hold')
Pini We are AOK. Everyone in our office conected to NZ is fine
they're
anyway i am tired and going to bed. see you all tomorrow!
glad to hear, herin
sleep sweet, uusue
night, sue...take care
And all friends are too
I was just catching up on gossip. I have to actually go to the works webpage to find out.
oh, I am so glad to hear that, herin - looks awful there!
(really, I am going to bed. Really.)
I am in Aus. The Aussies have sent help.

did those help, flash?
sure
still looking......thanks
when someone says "crate trained" ... what exactly does that mean?
ask for assistance as needed, flash
depends on who says it, i suppose. what i mean by it is that the dog (or cat) is comfortable and relaxed in the crate, goes in willingly and doesn't get upset about having the door closed and being left in for several hours.
gotcha!
Koda will do that for me...
...I had the scarey thought that they were taught to 'potty' in the crate if they were housed indoors.
* sighing with relief *
good grief no. you don't ever want them to potty in the crate.
(koda will go into his crate without fuss for the night, I mean - not as a babysitter)
if you were going to do something like that, you'd just straight up litter box train them.
didn't think so, jes....but have always been afraid to ask about it
he's pretty trained in that respect as he'll 'hold' it until he's let out in the backyard...
...and sometimes won't go somewhere else if we're out until he gets home...
yeah. mine are trained to go on command, so i don't have to wait for them to explore the whole rest stop when we're traveling...
he's really close to doing that for me, too...thankfully!!!
I'm getting the impression that the only commands he pays attention to are "OK" (his release to eat), "sit," and "go potty"
heh. he doesn't do "come here"?
now if I could just figure out how to keep him on the ground - I swear he's got some rabbit in him...
yeah right...only if you have a MALE voice, jes!!! LOL
hmm. wonder why that is?
No clue on that one...
hi all. any clues for the third 7 word? i have co and ta. no list yet as not half way
