hiccup is lasting much longer these days
anyway, 100 down and I'm off to bed, too tired tonight
can finish up tomorrow
well done -- I only have 70.
yes it is lasting longer, but haven't known it to swallow up comments
I have
hubby got a few before giving up

I don't know, 8 clear tops, only 3 zeros, hard to say
very nice!

her memory of a hand played, is amazing to me
she and Paul
well, I very carefully set up a suit, giving me a debatable score, but then got to the board and didn't use it!!!!
yes, but I can't imagine them playing together
you told me abut that mistake, but it was just the one.
I was making a series of them
ah, we all have those nights
but I really must get to bed now,
good night and good luck
night night!
I'm going too soon
and that's it for tonight -- 32 left -- bye bye if there's anyone he4...*poof*
good morning... so good to be back. Does anyone know what was the matter with the darn site yesterday?
Morning Sprite. DrG just said it fell over - again - same problem. Was down for 7 hours
yes I had to give up yesterday, no joy during the day and for the evening I had a TV date with my girl :) Ah well, today a new grid, a new chance. I guess it is to be expected that things with a daily performance fail once in a while.
Sorry about all the server problems lately. This morning's problem was the same one as a few days ago. The server just starts collapsing in on itself. I'm still not sure what's causing it, unfortunately. (Pasted from FB)
ah thank you lyn. I hope DrG can find out what is causing it, I really miss my babble fix if I cannot get it. And I bet I am not the only one ;)
I'll confess to being mildly disturbed. Good morning/evening to you.
just a thought - hope it is not that hacker back again (from a couple of years ago?)
Good morning Haz
hi Haz :) Oh lyn I really hope not!
I didn't know anything about hackers. Technical problems are bad enough without it being deliberate.
My problem was the fear that babble might be on again without me knowing so I was checking all the time.
:D Very aptly put. I kept checking too when I was at the 'puter. But must confess to forgetting about it once I was afk.
1. retan is a word. People do it every summer. 2. I am being very educational with the icon theme today!
I remember a student teacher in Latin trying to teach us the details of the Roman calendar. Poor man, he got very mixed up and what made it worse was that the inspector was in the class and HE had to intervene to straighten things out.
oh dear, the man must have felt awful.
He did and we felt bad for him. He was very young, I can stil visualise him with his fluffy moustache.
...and all the young girls hearts went pitter-patter
a painful memory for the rest of his career :) He must have been overpreparing the next time he had to teach about the Roman Calendar.
I hope it didn't put him off teaching! He was actually very good with the language side of things, it was just unfortunate that he picked that topic to teach.
it is a pretty complicated topic, with many changes and (for us) the setback that the year didn't start with January.
He could just have summed it up for us - their calendar was different. The End.
hahahaha
I remember I was delighted when I found out about it. I thought it was liberating to realise that calendars are only a kind a agreement between people and a rather arbitrary one at that. And I still find it interesting how all corrections took place and that even rather recently another one had to be made to come closer to the actual solar year.
I am sure I am missing some really obvious words - BBL - going to organise dinner
See you later, lynxxx.
bye lyn, have fun and enjoy your dinner
Didn't the French try to change things after the revolution? I know they tried to change the names of months etc but I don't think they tried to be more revolutionary than that. The people didn't like it, though and persisted with their normal names.
yes I believe so. Also seem to remember something about the English making fun of the french names.
Making fun of the French seems to go back a long way!
But it probably works both ways. Goodness knows what they say about us, knowing that most of the population won't understand a word.
it does, doesn't it!
oh yes, undoubtably. We have the same thing here between dutchmen and belgians. We are cheap, th4 are stupid. The jokes about both misconceptions are endless :)
It's just like members of a family teasing one another, I think.
yes I think so too. For such teasing the parties must be close enough to know a lot about eachother, but not close enough to feel like one.
I was at a funeral recently and at tea afterwards, my aunt by marriage made a teasing remark about 'if the Browns have any weaknesses...' and then burst out laughing when my sister and I and my uncle drew ourselves up to our full height and looked utterly indignant.
hahaha yes that is it exactly, isn't it. Like the Bilbo Baggins's Birthday party.
my condolances, btw, was it someone very close to you?
Apparently our timekeeping is a bit suspect. She told the story of an uncle, now dead, who used to wait until he heard the bells of the church ringing before he'd fling on his hat and hurtle down the street, running up the hill to the church.
oh that is priceless
Thanks, sprite, it was a very elderly aunt who'd had mostly a very healthy life but who was deteriorating, not suffering too much before the end, thankfully.
sounds like a good way and time to go, if there is such a thing.
Yes, she'd had a long life but her body was starting to let her down.
Good morning Ladies. I'm not stopping - I just wanted to check if Babble was up. Whew! Thank goodness it is. I was very upscuttled yesterday..
morning Soodle, yes very glad it is back too :)
Hello, Soodle. I know, babble is so much a part of routine it kind of sets the world adrift when it isn't available.
funerals are funny things. Often so sad, but when it is over and people gather for coffee or such, it can become almost indecently pleasant.
Not that I'm addicted, or anything. (Denial is a rivery in Egypt)
....river....
of course not addicted. Just nicely attuned to our daily rituals and routines.
I've always admitted to a mild attachment.
I like that word. 'mild'. Yes, I am willing to admit to that as well.
Actually, if Dr_God wanted to raise some extra cash, I'm willing to bet people would happily pay a ransom to get babble back.
Agreed, Haz. Its incredible small money for literally hours of entertainment.
absolutely. But I think he'd better not try. Because that would incite somebody to start an underground babble site right away!
Underground babble - played by the light of head torches.
clueing strictly under the rose
A secret Babble society... funny handshakes, code words, nods, winks,...... l love it!
we already have a secret babble language, ywis!
The Siciallian volcanoe rises in the west.....
:D
Hmm. I stayed longer than I should have. Time to go. Have a lovely day, Ladies. Poof
bye Soodle, have a grand day
Bye, Soodlebum.
fireflies. Deceitfully tight in some spots. But fun, of course, as ever.
Well done!
thank you, Haz. I am going too, I hope you have a nice and relaxed day.
You too, sprite. See you again.
Hello
Hello, herin.
How are you all?
good morning everybody
wow, easy to get onto the site today after yesterday's miseries
HI Ruby
{{herin}}
((((((9Rubys)))))))))))))))))))))))))) ))000
I couldn't get in until 5 in the evening and then only for 20 minutes. Not that I'm addicted or anything
Yep it was off
boomboomboomsparksandglitters
hello vanilla was that a clue?
fireworks darling
means I'm done completed and early too
Wll done
ty and smugly...anyone want a clue?
are you kidding? Of course! Any 7's or 8's wd be greatly appreciated
clue to the B would help????plz
morning all
gd morning ishult!
ooh, got a 7!
Ishult, its a computing measure
50 still to got, found nothing bigger than a 6 tho!!!
just 4 letters
Hi Ishult
I am trying to think how to meet my family over Easter
got the b........how did I miss it??? ty
sa8/65 - the reply by the dentist to his wife when she enquired what he did all day.
hahaha, haz, nice clue
herinfer, we hope to travel Melbourne to Sydney, have 4 days, what would be the nicest route
tr8 - crimes against a nation
and tr7 when you do it only once
Depends on what you want
an8: the worldwide location in which it occurs!!!
an8 - the direction given to questioners when there is no seating plan available
early May via kosciosko?
as8: the remarkable backside on an insect.
You could go up the middle and take 9 hours or go the coast and take 13. if you do Coast you can stop over.
as8/40 - sounding like a donkey on top of an insect
we'd be looking to do several stopovers to give us time to see things
You going to Mount Kos or to Sydney proper?
by car from Mel to Syd
wa7 - descriptive of children who have spied a desirable fairground ride.
So sydney proper?
yes from there we fly to Cairns
is early May a good time?
Nice. May not too cold
You could drive Albury to Kos then through Canberra to Sydney. That will take at least 2 or 3 dys
we were thinking barnsdale and then up and across
sounds good what you say
We did Melbourne to Bairnsdale to Canberra to Sydney
Personally I would go Melbourne to Eden Eden to Sydney
thx for that, gotta run hagd
Ahh Eden, someone else mentioned that
it all sounds wonderful and very exotic!
Well ahave a look at Google maps. Eden is lovely
does eden live up to its name?
Depends if you want Mountains or Coast.
thx again ....poof
I'm off
Ruby it can be
half, yay! It soulnds like you have everything in Australia -- the country is so big, that the variety is stunning from what I read
It is fantastic. One way is Mountain the other is Coast
and desert?
Actually yes but that is a massive dog leg
when you take car trips like that, do you see a lot of wildlife every time you stop?
(massive dogs? hahah)
No goose you have to go way left then way right
hahah
this place has barely anything wild left unless you go way up in the mountains and then there are wild boar and mountain goats
You can but it depends on the time of day. It really isn't sensible to drive at dawn or dusk. The Kangaroos can and do leap out of no were and the Emus can be suicidal feather dusters
do emus attack cars the way ostriches do?
Emus are fairly brain dead
I don't know about Ostriches
they are very nasty and huge!
must go and pacify angry DH, for a change
*poof*
{{herin}} maybe he's part ostrich
Loves
Is there two AN 8 words?
Just one.
There is one An Tr and that great As
what is the other please
sa8 is the other.
Thank you
Great clue for the 8
The dentist one?
was great dentist clue lol
I'm glad it worked.
do u have a clue for the tr7 ?plz
The As one
tr7 - crime committed against people of a nation
ty vm!
The Sa one would be great please
sa8 - the reply by the dentist to his wife when she asked what he did all day
THat is freeking brillant
Glad it worked!
There is a wonderful free event on this week
Free is always an attraction. What is it?
Fashion week. L'Oreal
Goody bags?
Yep
Enjoy!
I hope to
I need to go and do some errands, have a good evening. Bye for now!
love the clue for the SA...thanks Haz and goodmorning all
Hi Kalia Bye haz
Pardon the delay I was fixing my glasses again
no worries herin
They are held together with tape
and finger prints
have you got new ones ordered?
how do so many finger prints get on glasses? one of life's eternal mysteries!
I have new ones ordered. The tape is the reason for the prints
yes in your case, but I always seem to have fingerprints on mine....no idea that I must touch them so much
Oooooooooo I have just received news that a puppy mill has been shut done :D
thats a result then
snay
Yep
night/day everyone

Hello, Carlee :-)
hi zooz
am putting off the day am afraid
going to be a really long day
Why is that, Carlee?
moving day....well..yesterday i started...today is move odds and sods..then allt he furniture
Oh i hear you, Carlee, helped my sister move two days ago..my back is still killing me..hope you are more organized than she was.
i dont know if i am
as my dxh decided to start renovating just before i started packing so all his crap is scattered about
drywall stuff..allt he boxes of tile..buckets, bags of adhesive and grout....drill..router...
gimongous shop vac
Oh why did he decide to do that..don`t answer that..lol...hope you have lots of helpers .
sheets of sheetrock
my mum and i until 4
and she is 70
Are you moving far...as in hours away or will you arrive in a short time.
Bless her, Carlee, hope she takes it easy.
she doesnt
oh..its in next neighbourhood over...back and forth..a load in the suv there and back 30 mins
Wish i lived near by, i would of helped.
with ur back out of sorts.....no thanks :p
Well at least it is not too far, do the driver help in the move also?
LOL..true.
wee took some time yesterday as i took my one cat with us a couple times...she is dominant and confident....to get her smell over there
so..when the other 2 arrive...will be a bit more settled
i have all 3 here again..she was a brave wee kitty
Thats a good idea.
was cute..she was freaking out the first time over when we got out of the car as she had no idea where she was she jst rides in the car..lays down in back seat..or watches where she is going out window
second time she knew where she was....so that was rather cool
( she is part dog..u say car ride and she is by the door ....she plays fetch too )
Cats are smrt things..she will dominate the area soon enough..lol
she dominates all the time
No way..that is excellent..now if you threw a stick and she fetched..well that would be youtube material..lol
she has little foam balls that she plays with....
she brings back to u...drops at ur feet..u throw again...
pretty hillarious really
That is really sweet.
not so sweet when she does it at 3 am...and if u ignore her she pounces on u
And digs her needle nails slightly into your skin..lol
and she has extras...( polydactyl...oriental...solid black short hair green eyes)
With the look of play NOW
mhhhmmmm that is "Boo!" ( her name is boo )
Need that `B` for NBT
zooz, by4/8
computer term zooz
Doh..slap me with a fish. Thanks, Pabtrek & Chessy!

that as the food served by one of the contenders on america's next great restaurant. along with a tater tot casserole. :/
god lord.maybe i should teach them my deep fried, battered sausage wraped bacon recipie
thing will stop yer heart just looking at it
oh, crossy-I never took you for one to batter sausage--lol!
crossy is a batterer!
try this instead, it is very good.
tater tot casserole does not sound appealing (and I speak as one who will eat, and enjoy, almost anything)
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Baked-Fre nch-Toast-2/Detail.aspx?src=etaf
i do not eat it often,i hear of americans deep frying battered oreo cookies and snickers bars and i feel left behind;)
crossy does not like tater tots;/
imagine thinking someone will pay for it. the concept as southen comfort food. i have tasted both cross the snickers is ok but neither is really something i would eat again

Just updated my icon with a drawing of my mom, done by my dad in 1970 (three years before her death)
dont get the elmer fudd clue crossy
lovely drawing sue
I thought it was a great clue, crossy - kallia, elmer fudd has a lisp so he pronounces r's as w's
fudd is a great fallback when you cannot clue any other way
ah forgot that ! I see now
good morning everyone
scrabby and i got into a fudd-speak clueathon last year and it was so fun it became epic, clued half the grid in fudd-speak

hi boo
Ron even
lol, seems the flip people finished this in about 30 minutes ...android freaks they are lol;)
how many words today ?
but we love them
Just read your story uusue. I had to laugh about your stepmother. My mother in law-in her 80's- decided that her long lost husband- and older - must be dead so applied for a widows pension. Next thing she knew she got divorce papers, not only was he not dead but he planned to marry a 29 year old!!
yea well they don't chat do they?
here,to apply for that pension, you must have the death certificate..avoids that issue;)
yes
hi, deeha - it is a complicated situation and does have its funny moments although I don't think my stepmother wants to marry anybody else (and my father certainly doesn't!). At ages 85 and 89 the whole thing seems pointless to me. Sigh. (Of course, I've been divorced three times so can't really be very critical!!)
I just love this CD...Long Player, Late Bloomer it's called..had never heard him before
wife figured out last year that i can make her more money per month by being dead then alice..crossy checks the brakes on the car every day now....
alive
thought you were cross dressing then crossy :)
I frequently point out to my SO that I am worth a lot more dead than alive; so far he hasn't taken me up on it :-)
I used to be worth more dead than alive - in gold fillings-sadly most of the teeth are now gone along with the fillings!!
ewer
oops sorry
ty deeha
pb deeha
i like your clues best;)
had that one, deeha :-)
I have always been known as being subtle

have you got the sa 8 crossy
tespooncolic? trying to parse crossy's clue...
Haz gave a wonderful clue for it earlier
ok, nm, I got it, word I already had :-)
This makes babies fussy around 8 months, not 3 - so not colic. Crossy's kid must be fantastically advanced.
he is 17 now, give me a break on remembering that far back!
makes mom fussy, too, if baby is nursing (voice of experience here)
oh, did i miss haz

haven't found it that easy! lots of odd little words, you have to monkey
It's got to be easier than yesterday. 12 letter word, no list
but lots of babblets, if you remember them
and 8 hours without a grid at all lmao
can i ask wot is a babblet?
don't see those very often bichon - fortunately
usually short words that we don't usually use in every day chatter - but keep popping up here
oh right - ty xxx

awww flosey you could at least type some in that are in today grid!!!! lmao
lol
crossy still here? found a new recipe...
http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/bacon-po pcorn/Detail.aspx
ok, dad and I are off to the IRS to pick up forms - they're not mailing them any more, which makes it tough for your average 89 year old without internet access...
also, I have a list of physics babblets in my profile, after you scroll through the camel joke and all the stuff about my dad :-)
thanks sue, tried to copy/paste - word perfect refused!! strange
hi all
hi jmc
that is strange, flosey - I don't use word perfect myself so can't help with it. I have found open office to be very handy with all sorts of file formats, though.
Hi, jmc!
obviously dad and I haven't quite left yet, but we are heading out soon, I promise!
you can get them to mail them if you ask
but i don't promise when you would get them

gorgeous roses jmc

Okay, time for me to head out. Have an enjoyable day and, fingers crossed and servers permitting, I'll see you tomorrow. Bye!
*gone*
hi again, all! Back from the IRS...
hey all!
hm. "all" may have been overly optimistic... LOL
Hello, stid
hey BR. hope you are well and the weather at your place is clement? ours is soggy...
cross - i have a question about the folding#home. Can i set it so it opens automatically when i start the computer or do i need to go in and open it?
Melting here.
it actually sets itself automatically to do the folding, teach -- a caution -- even fast machines can bog down a bit with the folding running.
but do you have to open the program when you start your computer each time
melting should be a positive sign, I hope. We have daffodils up in our yard, and tulips are showing their green leaves now. I am ready for things to dry out enough to work the actual soil.
hi all.can i have a clue for the sa510 and sa6,18 please
that's what I meant teach -- it assumes you want it to start automatically when you download it.
hey lilliann.
hi stid
at least it has on the two computers I installed it on.
sa*** domingo; pl
the sa 5/10 that I have is spanish or italian for saint, male version
or what BR said!
after i turn on my computer i have to go in to the list of programs and click on folding to get the icon to appear
thanks stid
i thought i'd already put that in...obviously not!!
thanks br but i wouldn't have got your clue :(
having the icon up isn't necessary for the program to run, I think. look in the task manager to see what programs are running.
fireworks!!
YAY lilliann!
am off to play uno with my daughter before she goes to bed.bye all.tc :)
enjoy, lilliann!
I could use that B please?

lying here recovering from 1st day of therapy
what kind of therapy, praise?
PT
hello all
why the PT praise?
ah. Been through a few rounds of that myself (two knee replacements, frozen shoulder, cervical spine fusions...)
hi, peri!
had back surgery about a month ago peri
wishing you a complete recovery praise
ty Peri
oh, back surgery is tough! Are you back home now? I seem to remember you were away from your little ones...
ooh - just noticed I am more than half way! :-)
yes have been home for a while now
afternoon all - looking for a clue for the AN 8/75
oh, good! You must be happy about that.
hi, jindigo! don't have the an8...
an8 a non-specific place
an 8 - compound, where you might look to find the answer
how about the FO 7? These are my last two - and I am stumped
fo 7 ends in past tense of eat

ridiculous! the zoo here is looking for volunteers but they want volunteers to pay a $70 dollar one time fee to volunteer
thanks mary!
hey there.. new here.. what a cool game
can u guys explain hints? for example- ta 5/18 - what would that mean?
hi, lbuxx! Welcome!
Wlcome lbuxx. Carefdul, it's addicting
lbuxx, that's a word that begins with the letters ta, has 5 letters, and 18 total points.
Right click "Lickety's Babble Clues" at the bottom and open in a new tab...
for 4-letter words, add up the points; for 5 letters, multiply tile points by 2; for 6 letters multiply by 3; and so forth.
thanks for the welcomes and the explanation!
allowable words are found in a dictionary called enable (apparently...). Minimum word length is 4 letters.
ibuxx - welcome to babble
you will get tile stats (in the little squares below the puzzle) and word stats for 2 weeks; after that you will need to upgrade to pro to keep them. Upgrading is a one-time $14.95 fee, and also gets you a profile with a little icon and a flag (if you want it) - you can see that many of us have these
but you are always welcome to continue playing in any case, not everyone upgrades (or can afford to do so).
hmm.. on tile stats mine is showing A 0/2 but I've already found 3 words that begin with A..
Right, those words came from the central A.
you found words starting with the OTHER "A"
there are two A['s today
uusue, I just read most of your log . Sounds terribly familiar. I took a fall down 12 steps on Jan 27, one week in hospital, three weeks in rehab, this week the home care ends, but I am OK. My husband , age 82 cooks and does dishes. OUr daughter, 32 finished her MA at UNLV and moved back home three weeks ago. Things are workign out;
oooohhh
Glad to hear you are doing well, inge! It helps a lot to have a spouse, children, and friends :-)
lbuxx, if a word can come from more than one tile (which is possible in some grids) it counts from topmost and leftmost first.
thanks guys!
te 5/10 ????
Put a vowel on the end of the te4/4 before it.
add a letter to the sea bird
hi, zooz!
Hello, Uusue :-)
thank you
how about the te6/24? :)
You brush them twice a day + vowel on the end.
Oops wrong one.
What a baby does to grow bicuspids
Oh yeah, oops, ;) we both did the 21
that's the 6/21, zooz and yad; the 6/24 starts with the vietnamese holiday and ends with, well, whatever
i dont follow vietnamh holidays lol ill google it
big attack during the vietnam war, you are too young to remember :-)
got it.. the whatever helped lol
thanks :)
That lil picture is actually my dad when he was about my age. It looks eerily like me so I used it as my profile pic...
cool, yad! Mine is a portrait of my mom done by my dad, but it doesn't lood much like me :-)
He has talent!
Must admit never came across the word `bicuspids` before..will remember that one.
indeed he does - he also paints and does wood carvings (although his profession was mechanical engineer)
My ex-grandfather-in-law was good at many things like that, too. He was a mechanic for GM for years, but now builds, does carpentry, stained glass, etc.

have it, thnx - had to monkey it - never heard of that slang
Maybe in WV you are more sheltered.
she is better of never having heard it directed at or near her anyways
I think it is more a British slang word
perhaps
Amen. It's usually paired with words such as "dumb"
like git
No, we have it the US, lynxxx
grew up in chicago suburbs and lived in suburbs of New York City and Washington DC - but came to WV about 30 years ago
Yeah, I just meant it used more commonly in UK (and Australia)
like wanker..never hear that over here

aaaccckkk, the 13-yr cicadas are heading our way in May!
what the heck are those?
years ago, my springer spaniel gained 5 lbs during their stay in Nashville!
he eats cicadas?!
they'
ahh,had to google them,we do not get those, but we can get mosquitos the size of robins in places!
they're full of fat -- heard of other local dogs doing same
blech
ew ew ew not looking forward to this!
Hello babblish friends! 50 left
hi Mark
hey, makr
*mark
Maybe one of those soft rubber muzzles would stop him eating them when he is outside?
up north we once had a shad fly invasion(fish flys) they covered every wall, ever roof, every car, they only live for a day or 3 but it took us a week to scrape them off of everything!
OUCH!
the cicadas last 4-6 weeks and end up in PILES all over the place
I know. We will get them too.
you can keep them
last time around the news was full of stories about outdoor wedding disasters -- ya know they land on everything and every one
guess they do not like our colder climate
and people furious 'cause they landed on freshly painted houses and stuck there
BBL
and this kduzu vine(sp) sounds like a horror for you guys
yep, in rural areas all over the south
(kudzu)
saw a show on it and was stunned
I saw a show on that once - where they showed the herd of goats they were using to eat it
goats are a good solution
thats the one!
they use it under bridges and around highways all there goats
we had goats once,3 of them,on 5 acres, took them just one summer to eat us into a dust bowl
would seem a 'safe' solution (raher than insects or sprays - god forbid)
apparently there are farmers who make good money hirring out their goat herds
crossy LOL
but a good idea for those vines
*hiring
of course, MOST of the goats in Tennessee are raised for meat -- sold in Hispanic groceries
My husband likes and buys goat meat occasionally, not my cup of tea. Now goat cheese! yummmmm
i find goat cheese(and milk) has a funny aftertaste
exactly, lynxxx --- wish some folks would make local goat cheese -- yummers!!
Mmmmmm...goat cheese. I hope that's in the penalty box today.
oh, crossy -- goat cheese is fabbo!!
my mrs love it..feta
hi Smaller
Hi Lynxxx! ...and chocolate. Chocolate and goat cheese.
Together? interesting
goat cheese and greek olives -- mmmm
Ok...I see my error. Not so much together. haha
fireworks here - off to finish up the dinner - all this talk is making me hungry
congrats, teach!
Congrats WV!
Bye wvteach, woohoo for you!
fig newtons and whiskey trust crossy almost as good as fresh home made apple pie with a slice of wensleydale(sp) cheese and a tumbler of single malt whiskey
hi all
is this suppose to be a big cicada year une?
hi jmc!
howdy jmc
tr 5/10 please
second one

my second rhymes with a color
hi ch12
oooo thanks ch1212. good one.
hi jmc -- and all. Just got here, so haven't really followed the chat yet.
that must be the one..rhymes with colour..mmmm.
The color of leaves
oh of course ch12!
crossy, it's particularly apt to a tr4 you already have. :)
practically a babblet
0_o
oh well: i shall worry about it again when it becomes my last word;)
lol
back . . . jmc, it's all over the Tennessee news today -- 13 yr cicadas arriving in May --- ugh
when my husband was still alive we were hit with the 13 year and the 7 year in the same year
after he died and i was going through some papers i found a file titled "cicadas"
sometimes winter can be a good thing;) as much as we get tired of the snow and cold
unfortunately I live in an older area where they arrive in a BIG WAY
guess what was in it?
cicadas?
a dead cicada!
yep! lol he was very literal minded
LOL!
just the shell lynxxx
there were about a dozen shells
na5/14 pls xxx
you couldn't walk anywhere that year without stepping on the shells
was he a collector of odd things?
first year I saw them coming up out of the ground and larva on the trees I thought it was an alien invasion!!
fran dresher frog
oh god, yes -- crunch crunch crunch
na5.14 she looks after the kids
fran dresher?
not especially lynxxx just quirky from time to time
she was a na5
sorry mary poppins
though up north in the right season,i have seen the deer flys and horse flys drive moose so insane, they will actually lay out on the roads at dusk and dawn to find relief
ooo i got the babysitting one
ty all xxx
yw
my daughter camped in Quebec last June and was NOT happy about the constant flies . . .
yes indeed une, when in the bush during horse fly and deer fly season, there are a few basic rules...do not shower the day before you go in,no perfume, aftershave or deoderant,no yellow or bright colours (white is preferrable)
no soaps etc
sounds like it is easier to stay home (and would smell nicer too)
lol
we had to take a fella out of the bush one summer all covered in blood drom the deer flys, cause he decided to have a nice shave and some aftershave before going in
from
how awful!
just do not go in july and august
i don't mind tromping around in the woods but i now demand a bed to sleep in
That is probably the problem with the moose, they insist on showering and putting those yellow jackets on
take him out? he lost blood himself?
sa8 please xxx
lol not quite lynxx
deer flys take chunks out of ya jmc
a part of a tool a carpenter uses
poor man!
sa8 compound, carpenters tool
tiny chunks,but still
so you took him out like a medivac?
not that bad jmc
not finding it
*whew* i was freaking out
firewords -- back at the flip! *poof*
Haz's clue for the sa8. What the dentist replied when his wife asked him what he had done that day
you part of a tool you cut wood with
whoo hoo une!
Congrats Une
up north when fishing in labrador etc during the summer(this will sound bad) byt many of the locals will have their dog in the front of the boat so the flys and mosquitos will head that way
haz had a good clue
yea i get the saw bit
the pointy things on the tool frog
add what is in your mouth Frog
omg your joking! thats a real word???
ty allxx
sure is - I am carpenters daughter
yes that is what they are called frog
i am a carpenters granddaughter! lol
and logical if you thinki about it
sharks have sa 8/65,s
that is what i always like about mechanical things--they are all so logically named
a plane isnt logically named
should be called a smoother
Must get going...bye all xx
a distributor distributes; a distributor cap goes on top of a distributor; etc
bye lynxxx
a watch isnt logically named - you watch it, it doesnt watch you
it puts things on a even plane
it makes a flat plane on a piece of wood
but you watch it
it is also a time piece
a watch is a watch if you have the duty on board long ago you had the watch
thats my point - it should be called a watched
that is quibbling and you know it! lol
language is such fun;))
it is isn't it?
and to think, 300 years ago that sentence would have been "it is, is it not?"
tell a young kid that it is half past 3 and watch the way he looks at you
can not instead of can,t will not instead of won.t..we have gotten lazy
if i see that advert on telly one more time im gonna smash my tellyset
what advert?
last time i was over there they had bbc 1,2,3..no loss lol
its a company in UK called Mazuma - they give u money for your old mobile phones - and it is the single most annoying advert in the history of television and is on nearly every ad break and has been running for over a year!!!
2 had soccer and one had darts lol or coronation street
oooo crossy no coronation street isnt on the BBC - it on ITV
we have many hundreds of channels now - and to be honest they're nearly all crap
which is my spleen vented for toniight lol
darts are funny...20!,and another 20! ..and while we wait for the next throw,i can tell you that sir john fortesque the third is from puddleby on-the-whye and collect draught handles and sheep droppings.....
sheep droppings? ewww
over here we call them giant sultanas
hi folks
howdy welki
hello welki xxx
seems i am missing a lot of an,s
hello all
we have a guy here who collects moose poop, shellacs them and sells them as key fobs lol
howdy jilli
ooo nice
ugh!
hi jill xxx
hi jilli
bout the size of a robin egg
i once worked with a strange bloke who collected ants from his garden and cooked them in melted chocolate! strange world
actually chocolate covered and slated ants are good
salted
but "giant sultanas" is cute for some raisin or other (glad ruru isn't here)
a delicacy in many countries
i'll pass if you don't mind - think i'll stick with frogs legs and e'scargot
crossy does not like escargots
haven't had frogs legs in ages
I like both, froggy (sorry)
i just peel the bacon off of them
I eat so boringly. Hello babblers!!!
escargots don't have bacon on them
i have eaten many things in my time - from cockroaches to moose but as for ants - thats just silly
hi red
hello red lol xxx

I like octopus
I've had Octopus. the bigger kind, it is ok if prepared properly.
thats one thing i havent tried
<-- will eat all that stuff, except the insects
there was an amazing stew in Puerto Rico that I still remember 40 years later...
i have had it,do not care for it
I can imagine eating chocolate covered ants -- just crunchy, I should think.
you'll laugh at me but i can't eat rabbit - bechause they are too cute lol
mmmm..rabbits
I think I've had octopus in things like bouillabaise
I don't like the taste of rabbit. *blech face again*
I have never had rabbit, or liver.
liver!!!! yakkkkkkkk!!!!

oooops.
liver is one of my unfavourite things
stidkid #2 is home. I can hear him whistling.

YAY, wht!!! WTG!!!!
!!!!Wht!!!!
te6,24. A Vietnamese holiday + one of many
Thank you Nurse Nef for the definition of the te6. That was one of the words I got today that I randomly typed and it worked. I didn't know what it meant though. And I hope I never have it.
Is that fireworks for you as well, zTink?
thank everyone. fireworks for me
LOL! I couldn't think of a non-medical way to clue it at first! :-D
Congratulations zTink
YAY, zTink!!! WTG!!!!
The deficiency of the month seems to be Vitamin D. I swear everyone I know is telling me they are taking supplements, as recommended from their doctor.
yes. It makes you wonder, doesn't it?
Well now that we are all saving daylight, there will be even less Vitamin D for us.
if you can get outside for 15 minutes a day and expose your face, arms and lower legs to the sunlight; you won't be deficient
I've heard that Nef. And yet, a friend of mine, whose husband works outside all day long, told me that his latest blood test shows that he is Vitamin D deficient. It does make me wonder.
is he wearing heavy clothes (ie: in construction) or is he wearing sun block or sunglasses?
sun tan lotion /sun block and sunglasses really cut down on vitamin D production in our bodies
Never thought to ask that Nef. Could be.
time ot play Bagel! (hi all)
hi Gwenn
oooh gwen's updated her daleck!
ain't it a beaut? ==8-O
very nice. I wish I could watch a whole show without getting too scared by them! ;-)
like they say in the IMAX theater. you are sitting in a chair. you are not moving.
or, for doctor who, you are sitting in your living room. the daleks are not in your house.
Are you SURE about that, Gwen?
8-D
you just have to whack the eye stem and they can't see you!
bein' scared is part of the fun, IMO
yeah, or sneak up behind and push 'em down an elevator shaft
must go for now. NCIS and hubby time. good luck with the grid.
bye bye dawg!
oooh! Good to know, lbd! I have nightmares, wish I would have known that last night!

hey, my last name is a word (or part of a word) 4 times over!
yep! You really rate!
1 more word to reach halfway mark. gettin' tough
I have 1 F word left to find
oh, man! I totally forgot to look! I'm past half way; just 60 words left!
you have four with a double consonant in them?
yep
hooray!
then the writing style; but missing the last one
you have a typeface?
okay, the writing style, change the last letter
(I used to do calligraphy, it's a writing style to me)
THANK YOU Gwen! :-)
well, technically it's not a writing style or a typeface, it's a set of type (pick, pick!)
(deep sweeping bow)
Good for you, Gwen! I thought it was something a person gets baptized in! ;-)
well, yeah, there's that meaning as well . . .
same root as fountain, i believe . . .

hmmmm. call it an internet hiccup then
I was sneezing at the time; that's why I said I wasn't sure if I did that or not
that would have to be six sneezes at least. do you sneeze in groups? (i knew someone once who always sneezed in 3s)
you know, I should be in the PB for all of the words I've put in chog this eve
I think it was just 3 or 4 times; but they were the long drawn out pauses in between

te6= a severe muscle spasm (from low calcium, for instance)
wow -- and I'm supposed to know that?!
Vietnamese holiday + one of many?
don't know any Vietnamese holidays either
however, the one of many gave it to me -- ty
are you old enough to remember the Te* Offence during the Vietnam war?
(it's been in a number of grids lately)
probably, but we didn't get Vietnam news nonstop like the states did
where were you? (I know PB X2 with that sentence)
I'm a Canadian, Nef
Vietnam wasn't exactly our war!
I know that NOW, but were you back then? Oh. okay.
brb, DH needs some help
back
howdy. in for a few minutes for a few more words
hi jes
how goes, nef? dh ok?
he's fine, just tired.
I see Elmer Fudd is visiting -- don' t know is we 6
* his
his Aunt Jean has CHF; she had a "silent" heart attack sometime in the past 2 weeks;
2nd so 6/18, please?
don't forget to Pl that, nan; or pronounce it right either
haven't got it, sorry, nan.
is she feeling any better with treatment, nef?
so6/18 what a poet writes
Hi folks - on my way to bed but thought I would stop in for a minute to give help if needed
howdy river :)
she's home now; but her 91 year old sister (who's very bossy) is visiting and going to send ME into heart failure too! :-/
hello Jes, Nan and Nef
hi River
How are you?
ouch! a fish --- ty river
I am great but tired...took daughter clothes shopping tonight - wore me out
no heart failure allowed, nef.
still don't see it , but it was accepted
how old is daughter, river?
down, right and up nan
turned 18 last week
Hello...
hi Jellen
hello jellen - havent seen you in a long time
oh see it now!
Yes, I've been taking a break...
18 -- does she pick the ugliest thing in the store?
she does Ok but everything is so short and tight...yikes...drives me crazy and she is not one of those skinny types either
hi all
hello jmc
Hi, jmc
this too will pass -- just remind her never to bend over!
i actually had to explain to the graduate student intern at my office that a shirt with leggings is not appropriate office dress. I actually blushed trying to talk to her one day standing in my office
did you all get the wa6/30 - my favorite chinese soup
either that, or get a photo of her bending over!
not a pretty sight - that might do it....lol
i told her she was welcome to wear leggings but the top had to cover her ass
mine does wear tights or leggings -thank goodness for that
well it is a cute outfit for going out sight seeing or on the town but not in an office!
is the fo7 related to fo6
I agree and for school as well....
as 8 please?
as 8 please?
no - start with the fo4/7 and pt of consuming food
as8 - donkey + opp of off + picnic pest

wow this grid is just one babblet after another
hi, jam
hey jes
aw 4,10?
containing lots of an4/8s
it isn't too hard (if you can put words and chat in the right spots and know lots of Babblets)
yeah it is the two years of babblets paying off tonight
:-)
hello
hi herin
I have 10 min left of my lunch breach
hi herin. How's the working gal doing?
hi herin
Really good. At my desk at the moment eating sushi
Hi Jess
and jmc, hi to you too (I think I missed you)
i felt your silent hello nef
:-)
carry out sushi--cool
Bento box of sushi better
sounds delishious!
I should be getting my glasses in the next 2 days thank goodness. Now I need a track pad under my space bar and I will be happy
new glasses?
Bento boxes -- I've never seen one. Are they disposable or do you take it back? (I've seen pictures, I just don't know about them)
i think the ones moms make you take back home like a lunch box
Disposable. I broke my other ones last week. held together with tape at the moment
hi, all! back again, maybe to finish???
bummer if i don't have glasses i can't see well enough to work
hi uu!
Hi uu
get'r dunne
hullo, uusue
JM then the nice people would have given them to you as soon as possible. Being only slightly needing them (without I get a head ache) is not qualification for an emergancy
40 left...
Yes I really did need to spend $350 on 2 new pairs (plus the cat bills for his annual vacines at his vet $120)
me either! My one lens kept falling out, so I took super glue to it. Bad mistake: if you can't see without glasses, don't try to repair them with super glue! (I have a permanent smear in the upper left lens now)
go uu go
evening all
yikes herin good thing you are working now!
hi dan
hi Dan
hah. yeah, make someone else fix them, nef!
hi dan
hi, dan!
i have a spare broken pair i wear to fix broken glasses if that makes sense
JM I know. I think I would have cried. Pandora has to go to the vet next month for her shots then to the other vet for her claws to be trimmed. Dr Roach can't clip her claws
hi dan2!
you are all done with school now yes?
Yes my vets name is Dr Roach
can't clip her claws? why not?
Yes I am done with school. I got a High Distinction average.
I was alone at home at the time; who knows where my old pair were (I think DH gave them away to the Lion's Club); but I couldn't not have glasses to see
Hi, jes and herin
Jess because my cat is a moody little cow and really doesn't like male vets.
uu i was taught that joke as the jewish guy who got rich and bought an elephant
hi jellen
Hi all. Well done on finishing your course and getting a job, Herin.
Hi Jellen. Sorry I haven't said hi to you on FB been busy
so why not get the vet who can do her claws to do the vaccines also?
save a trip?
how are things going? haven't seen you in a while
cute, jmc :-)
Re Herin's cat - I agree, Jess.
Because she has always been to Dr Roach, the other is more of an emergancy
and hi, jellen!
hi uusue. How's your Dad doing?
Hi, uusue
O and also Dr Roach has a small clinic and not too many scary Dogs when we are there
Dr. Roach could sedate her to clip her claws. I used to manage to clip one claw at a time on my moody female cat. They all get done in the end, though.
he's doing great, nef! I have a few more updates in my profile.
Jac Hi. I just have to bath her and I will see if I can. We have new clippers. Lucius is too squirmy and big and awkward
try having someone else pet their head/rub ears. i've got one cat that wigs right the eff out if you try to pin her down, but will let me do her nails just fine if bruce scratches her ears for it.
I've never needed to clip 'Hunter' cat's claws - he does them himself, not only on the clawing post we put for him in the garden, but on my window box, my sun lounger and any other wooden structure he can ruin and shred.:-(
thanks, uusue
Awww Jess. I best get back to work
have fun
see you later herin
(hugs) herin
Jac sounds like a naughty kitty.
See you later, Herin.
thanks for sharing lunch
OK Back tonight later. Stuff to do chair to sort out (silly office chair)
:-)
'Hunter' cat, aka Tiggsey, is no 'kitty'. He's a wannabe tiger.
hey all! I am only here briefly, stidkid #2 dropped a flashlight on my mac and broke the hard drive (which tom is recovering data from as we speak) I am more or less offline for the next few days...
ugh stid
howdy stid. gah, blunt trauma is not good for 'puters.
bummer, stid!
Watching the tv series 'Lion Country' last week and then going onto the website, I found out that the African name he should have had is 'Paka', which means 'wild cat'.
bummer my boy broke his too and i had to lend him my notebook
stid - Oh heck!
does stid#2 have a computer you can "borrow"
need the second so6/18 anybody?
