how does the 9 start, erda?
nm -- I see it's de9/66
maybe I'm just tired but I'm finding this to be yet another toughie.
sorry I disappeared -- was dealing with something else!
's ok, erda -- I was just staring at the grid anyway
only someone who deals with enzymes on a daily basis would be able to answer that one...the de9,66
I got it, erda -- no pride here -- went to morewords
there have been a lot of enzymes lately
lol jilli - me too - and hello all
I'm off into the arms of Morpheus...or Somnus, whoever finds me first! Night all; maybe this will look better in the morning.

That's where I got it too, Jilli...
it is morning here - so no excuse for me
can't stop yawning...

wow anike!
First time I have been able to do grid at a sensible time for ages. Normally middle of the night. My mum has been in hospital so lots of running around - more now that she is home. The joys of being 93.
glad to hear she's home, anike
Back to work - no rest for the wicked.
is the rest of the de9 another word in the grid?
Thanks jillli
not as far as I know, vanilla

hello everybody
morning, all!
hello sue
I am in Ann Arbor, MI, will visit my stepmother in the hospital in a couple of hours
is it spring there yet? I think Mich is generally pretty late
very early spring, bulbs are up but leaf buds are just starting
here the spring flowers are finished, fruit trees have finished flowering, starting to form fruit, roses and peolies are budding, azaleas are open and allium are gorgeous!
sounds lovely, ruby!
peonies*
it's the best time here
my peonies are about 10-cm-tall shoots right now :-)
I've had to stake mine twice, so far
what color peonies do you have?
they're my favorite
white
they are very lush, and have a lovely scent
I only have one white plant, with dinner-plate-size flowers. The rest are shades of pink and magenta
and they usually open at the same time as the first roses
my roses come a little later (but I only have a couple)
what color roses?
pink
they are kind of old-fashioned roses, not hybrids
I love antique roses! I have one that got so big it had to be divided. It's extremely thorny
mine are pretty thorny too :-)
I think when they hybridize, they try to eliminate the thorns
I also have a lot of purple coneflowers (they are native where I live) but they come up later. Echinacea purpura.
they have health benefits, no?
and tiger lilies, and daylilies
well, supposedly, but mostly they are pretty and provide habitat for bunnies and food for the birds
I only have a small patch of daylilies; the only time I bought lily buls, I waited too long and they liquified
mine just kind of grew
anyway, time to hit the showers. when my flowers are up I'll take a picture :-)
and the wisteria is in full flower!
please, I would love to see, and if you like, I'll reciprocate
that would be lovely :-)
bbl -
bye sue!! you are a good person dealing with all this hospital stuff!
ooohhh, we're discussing peonies?? I have more buds this year than in ages!
i think it was the very cold winter and all the rain that made them very very happy :-)
u
Hello everyone. I saw the mention of Tiger Lillies - I love them! and may I tell you orange spot cleaner will take the pollen from them off cream carpet! (Thank goodness)
morning all, help with i pls
hi Peri

I have 2 ha4.5 - those silly scot spellings
Two ha 4's and an ha6 and they are all weird.
I saw a clue for the de9 earlier but it did not work for me
de + you play sports on a te** + not out + flowers go in a v***

Sounds like something the devil would put on a sandwich.
cannot get the lone A

You ai* a gun before you shoot, past tense
ty so much, lyn, nbt and nbs
tx molly!!!
Morning Une. Pretty peonies.
Good Saturday morning / evening to all of you
thanks -- am very excited to have so many plants with so many buds this year -- my fave :-)
They are a beautiful beutiful flower Une - very jealous
hey, mom! are you doing ok weather-wise? not looking forward to MORE of this mess next week :-(
hi Mom! how did the shopping go?
My Mom loved peonies. It is my plan to plant a garden one day in her honor. There will be lots of peonies.
Morning Mom.
((Une)), good morning. so far so good. Lots of thunder and lightning but the rain isn't as bad as expected. Thankfully
and lynxxx, they're so incredibly hardy -- i even have 3 very old white ones that date back to the 1950's!
(((Lynxxx))) I found a 2-piece suit in pale yellow. They didn't have my size so Dillard's is ordering it and sending it to the house. Hope it fits well. Thanks for asking
Good morning Molly
keeping fingers crossed for you, mom . . .
Hey lovers
good afternoon Miss Omnibus
Your suit sounds pretty Mom. Pale yellow is a lovely Spring color.
Thanks Une.
Hooray Mom - pale yellow sounds lovely, bit different from the usual too
that's so sweet, molly -- this spring some of my mom's bulbs that I had transplanted here bloomed and it was just wonderful
Mom, I still think you should have gone for the halter top, feathered skirt number. : P
BBS just going to check out if peonies would grow where I live
Whitney's mom chose a coral colored dress, very unique neckline and sleeveless
i agree -- mom, that sounds soooo pretty
hurry back Lynxxx
I would have like to (NOT)
must feed pups -- BRB
okay une
Mom, what does Whitney's dress look like?
help with the et8 pls
Greek letter + not yours but ****
That's the 7 then plural for 8
ty Molly
et 6 7 8 -- all cousins!
ty Une
And chop off the last letter for a 6
I did :)
Molly, it is silk, small pale flowers, not a ruffled hem but has a little bit of flare and if I recall correctly it has a small v neckline
I don't remember the sleeves but maybe a cap sleeve
thanks for the et 6,7 and 8
good morning Peri
hi there Mom
Une - you have tree peonies or herbacous ones?
Une, your peonies are beautiful. I love peonies
herbaceous, but there are folks here who grow tree peonies -- really beautiful
me too, peri!
Oh Mom, her dress sounds beautiful.
it is very pretty
when is the wedding, Mom?
just found the ta7/36 -- looks like plural Sandra Dee! LOL
morning again, all!
ty Une :)
hey, sue!
had some breakfast, will check out of the motel soon, and go to visit my stepmom in the hospital...
hey uusue
June 4th Peri
morning uusue
ok
bless your heart Uusue
lovely spring day here, quite mild
hmmm Sandra Dee?
lynxxx, just found this: "Tree Peonies are ideal for Australia's harsh dry conditions"
or Debby Reynolds :-)
MOm, a role she played (pl)
think movies
sandra dee played this role....plural it
bbs
morning, annie :-)
hello everyone
((((Annie)))) good morning. I owe you an email. :-)
thx, all, got it even tho I am not familiar with the movie :-)
got it! Thanks
((Mom)) take your time
and him to mom, peri, annie, une, molly, lynxxx,...
going to put up a pot of coffee...anyone?
I hear the cottonwoods whispering above...
we have had storms and I have had the computer off during those
me! me! me!
Hi uu
be back soon with the fixings
(that was in response to annie's offer of coffee :-)
i hear the whippoorwills singing above . . .
Oops, it was whipporwills?
ta 7/36 in love
ah yes, I certainly remember the song!
yes wipperwills
molly, not sure -- in any case birds and trees are both in the song LOL!
Nope, it was cottonwoods. Whipporwills is the second verse. And it was Debbie Reynolds in the movie.
I hear the cottonwoods whispering above....
hi everyone - this is so weird - I actually SANG that song this mornign when I went out to get the paper and heard birds singing ..... !!!!
good morning ((JBV))
hi, jbv!
That's funny JBV : D
Hi Sue, just read the update on your profile - You are a great daughter and d.i.l
I tend to make up my own lyrics and then I get all confused on the actual ones
hi JBV
we also have a woodpecker in the neighborhood - and he was pecking away - so maybe woodpecker/whippoorwll// whatever it popped into my head
I second that Sue. Good on ya.
awww, thx, all.
Is the total today 187 or 188
I third it, uusue
Gran, 188 and hello
A woodpecker in your life is the symbol of new rhythms and beginnings JBV.
Thank and hello Mom
just glad he's not on my side of the street, molly :)
Une - I think I will just buy them occasionally, tree ones seem to be better but I don't think it cold enough where I am. I know they grow them up in the (small) mountains 30 miles away where it is cooler. Plus I don't think I have the right space in my small garden for them
Good morning babblers!
ok, I managed to gray out the top row, lol
hi Red
morning, red!
good morning Red
how cool -- never heard that before -- i have several that come to my feeders :-)
that is quite a quest uusue
morning, red!
My rankings just plummetted to an all time low! I guess I should not have started the biggie and not even got half way.
makes sense, lynxxx -- they have to have a couple of months of really cold winter
lol Red, as did mine. I only managed 51 words yesterday. I shouldn't have bothered
Oh well, we learn. It was fun for the few words I found!
hi red -
Une, I like your icon!!!
they're from my garden last year :-)
beautiful, Une -
those were in my Moms garden when I was a child....
tx :-)
here's something strange - I have amaryllis bulbs in 3 pots which never bloomed for Christmas and they are all blooming now!!
i love love love them
My Mom had tiger lillies
that's not strange, jbv -- i have some that just bloomed
THe first one is on a stalk almost 3 feet tall!
the other two are about to open
it all depends on when you start withholding water and put them in the dark
I never did any of that - I just left them out on the windowsill and kept watering them
altho this year I didn't put mine in the dark and they bloomed beautifully
I can not stand how those plant smell! Narcissus indeed...
you don't like the smell of narcissus?
yugh.
love 'em
my only stinky flower is my yellow iris -- so pretty but stinky :-)
they are sooo pretty...but i think they stink.
I had belladonna bulbs in my garden for about 12 years - threw them away last year because they had never flowered. Should I have been digging them up?
my purple ones smell like grapes :-)
I put some daffodils in a vase but couldn't stand the smell either
lynxxx!!!!
bulbs usually require digging up and storing
Hello Lynnxx!
I did it for a few years with gladiolus -they were so lovely but a lot of work
i don't dig mine up . . .
gulp - I didn't know - really!
LOL!
but you're in a different zone, Une - here they would not surive, I think
lynxxx, it all depends on the zone you're in
My elephant ears are coming up after a period of dormancy, it bloomed last year...and I hope it does again!
snap, jbv! LOL
maybe its my soil as well - quite sandy. Other people in Melbourne have them flowering beautifully
by me, we have fall-planting bulbs (crocus, daffodil/narcissus, hyacinth, tulip) that survive the winter and come up in the spring; then there are spring-planting bulbs that bloom in the fall. Those you have to dig up before the winter, and I can't name any because I never plant any :-)
and we have pretty harsh winters (-20F/-30C) so anything that survives the winter here would survive almost anywhere, I would think (except in truly Arctic climates)
yep, we have cold winters but nothing like that, sue
anyway, if I am going to do what i came here to do i had better pack up, check out of the motel, and head over to the hospital. Probably won't be back online today, so see you all tomorrow!
*puts pot of coffee, cream, sugar, bagels, cream cheese, miniature danish on the sideboard* --help yourselves
all this talk is making me itch to get out there and start planting but it is still so cold her e- and raining today
thank you for the danish, Annie
I don't thin bubs work here...I must have planted about 100 Prof Blau irises - which bloom the first year and thats about it. Even daffodils don't bloom - except EarlyCheer
Hello Annie!
bye Uusue, take care
good luck, sue
Hi red!
Bye Sue - hope it goes OK
hi Annie
bye uu, I ditto lynxx
and hi lynxxx
thx - I will let you all know tomorrow *poof*
please do, uusue
Seeing this story on the news about Forever young, an organization that brings WWII vets to see the DC memorial. My grandpa would have loved this.
lynxxx, bulbs like a rich, humusy soil so your sandy soil isn't very hospitable for them :-)
taking a break -- great to see everyone! *poof*
so good to see you as always Une ((hugs))
TY - I should have had you with me when I was buying them!
later, Une
bye Une
Bye Une!
Lynxxx, I often buy all the wrong things!
like the Wonder Sa*** Hot Pants?
but do LOVE your icon
time for me to start my day. Lots to do in preparation for Easter dinner tomorrow. ((Hugs)) to all of you
bye ((Mom)) Have a great Easter
Goodnight all - think I had better catch up on some sleep
bye bye ((Annie)) thank you, I think it will be fine.
good night ((Lynxxx)) pleasant dreams
yayyy back within a day, after a clean install of 'puter! And with one of the oddest coins I have ever seen. Good afternoon all :)
hi spritey!
That's a cool story about the vets Red. The WWII memorial is really very nice.
heya Annie :) And Molly too, and red :)
hi SPrite ! and time for me to take a break - be back later - have fun everyone
hi and bye JBV!
later, JNV
check out the coin in my profile, if you like. It is amazing!
i all sprite it is!
hi TOwl :) I am glad you are here to share my amazement :) Totally love this coin, can you believe a government that makes them?
once you rub it does the chick stay?
no, when it cools down again it turns silver again. And at a mere room temp it is red!
thanks for sharing
my pleasure :) 'tis more fun when it can be shared!
don't you wish you could have one? nice for easter basket!
oh absolutely! If I had the money I would be sorely tempted :)
well you can bet it sells for a lot
yes, such a limited amount and so much fun.
hm, not that huge a price I see. About 80 dollars.
Morning
morning Mr Bob
hello mr bob
well, some day... I will bookmark it :D
bye sprite, nice to see you
and vv, TOwl, have a nice day.
Hello Babblers! How is everyone this fine, not-rainy morning?
hi Mark, I am fine, very much enjoying the better weather and my working computer and the plans for easter :) How about you?
I am down with a bit of a cold, but I am doing ok. I just put in a load of laundry, which is a wee bit of a downside but it will be done soon. :)
it is a rewarding chore, at least, as opposed to dusting :) If you can find a nice place in the sun and sheltered from the wind, it might do you a load of good.
Nice pun.
;)
It may also give me a load of bad.
(I hate laundry)
nah, you'll be fine, lol
cough..cough....sniff...wheeze....ugh. ... cwossy got a cold:( nasty offspring brought it home from school:((
I know how you feel. :(
only the folding, for me. The rest is almost automatic, and I don't mind hanging it out to dry.
*makes crossy a spicy hot chicken soup* Poor soul, lock up the kid for a month!
evil children...cough...
here Mark, a cup of soup for you too.
ty sprite:)
Thank you, sprite.
yvw, I know how bad a cold feels.

so it looks like next week I'll have people who officially work for me for the first time
wouldn't depup mean havng a litter?
yay.. a hug and scratch behind his ears for him - hope he is having a lovely romp!

de6/30: A gamer term to describe a legendary person or event; 2. Sometimes used in goodbyes, but only in a positive light.
gamut

ty for the def, sprite..
yvw, I was curious, as ever :)
hi folks .. thanks, ru, for the visual of the 'gamete run' ... like the grunion run

hi welki! Woot I love the crowd :D

all i see are little gametes, tossing and flipping on the night-time shore, on their way to becoming zygotes
*giggles*
welki, pull your head out of the gutter.
really welki.. let bygones be zygotes
Aloy, there was a word like that in the puzzle yesterday. The de6 sounded like something out of a sci-fi movie. "I shall De6 you!"
oh gheez, now I see them too.. xx and xy, heading for the ova
gutter? nothing dirty about that scene. more like i should pull my head out of ............ the sand :)
dirty rotten de6 is hiding on crossy

btw, if you can spare the time, please check out my icon today. It is the most amazing coin I could find.
it is indeed amazing.. actually minted? what country?
he could be a punmate today, Aloy.
how funny.. DC's name is in the grid
yes, actually minted. It is from the Cook's Islands
vg, sprite!
:)
wonder how long the ability to change lasts..
think I want to go to the Cook Islands now.. where are they anyway?
hehehe yes indeed. In my profile text I copied the advice to make it change with a hair blower, so you won't have to touch it.
aren't they part of New Zealand?
blush, geography is not my forte
just look for the pans floating in the ocean aloy
Yes they are, sprite. Aloy, it is mi4! lol
nor mine, for sure!
so glad it is, Mark.. tyvm
sprite, please amend your list to include Babble Mr. Geography
argh... I hope the PB is well stocked up... here I go
The cook Islands have a 3 dollar bill too. My dh has two framed, front & back
that is so cool, rastapopolous! Isn't there a saying that goes something like: as fake as a 3 dollar bill?
lol .. I put some Hot Cross Buns in there, sprite
yw, aloy. Sorry, stepped out for a second.
yes, that's so US-centric ... just because WE don't have a 3 dollar bill
so very true! We all tend to look no further than what we are used to, don't we.
Maybe the Cooks do currency like Lichtenstein does stamps - for the collector market
Hmmm, I collect coins, not stamps. :(
could be the case. Lovely! They might make a collector out of me that way, lol.
I see there have been some salacious alluusions, but I don't get any of them.
these are coins, Mark
Awesome.
that's because you are so pure of mind, Kaplan. A good day to you.
*adjusts kaplan's halo *
sprite spoke for me too.. hi Kap
How true. My impure synapses are not firing. A good day to all.
Good Kap.
*random hints: don't forget the french water could be an ending... think of Baron of Munch..... too.*
So what's this de6 you all have been sniggering about?
have to run.. going to sf to meet DC for breakfast..bye all
bye ruru, enjoy breakfast
bye, ruru
Bye ruru!

I must run soon also, for today is my sister's birthday and I must finish my laundry. A couple more minutes for me. :(
Happy Bday to your sis, Mark!

Oh- the art of paper UNfolding!

Yes Kap, just like the art of not picking up water.

NBT
there was a old victorian instrument for this it looked like a metal or wooden pig trough half full of water had you had a rotating spit hanging over it ad they had glass bowls shaped like those bundt cake pans with the hile in the middle on the spit, with 1 inch of the bowl immersed in the water
Crossy I have actually seen someone play the glasses in that manor but no where near as good as that man does!
wtg Bea. I have only 14 left and still no nbt. My usual U blindness apparently.
i have nbt but lacking 8 and 9 on word stats
well an8 cartoon movies are popular, Nono

WTG sprite
i am liking this grid because i found the ga7 before anyone else (or at least I called it at the flip) *smug look*
it was probably FM i have heard from reliable sources that everything is FM's fault
wtg jmc, lol. And yes, of course it was FM. How silly of me to forget :)
:-)
btw, there are 2 ga7 words. One is a compound.
oh well of course i found the compound! lol
oh Nanette, but even if you had been, I would have known it wasn't you ;)
ugh, was hung up on the babblet ta6.18, fish me
and three words with that one
oh google was so pretty yesterday and today it is the same old
*fishing Aloy with the ta6 and related ones*

Aloy, I have several recent pictures on flickr
bye aloy
Wait, I'm confused. There is no past tense for an5/12. There is a past tense for an7/32 and that is a verb.
bye snuffy and sprite

yay nono!
You're good, jmc!
trying to avoid cleaning the kitchen as long as possible :(
i have stacks of work but no desire to do it
I have homework, but that could also be put off until tomorrow! :)
i already met with a builder to redo my closets and mailed 4 bills and paid two bills and printed out a 140 page book i need to edit--that's enough!
Sure is.
no easter bunny for me with a 25 year old boy! lol
thats more than enough for a saturday jmc!
I'm Jewish.
oh that is a very very light saturday for me
then no eater bunny for you either mark! ;-)
No eater bunny for me, correct.
*sneaks mark easter jelly beans*
my boys are 37 and 41 so just a nice Easter dinner for them and I try to keep that simple
i must admit i miss the cascarones -- they were fun
it is a mexican tradition where you fill egg shells with confetti and bash them on each other's heads!
hi all. as5/10?
we would all save up whole egg shells for months and often would have 30 eggs for smashing--what a mess!
Who says you can't do cascarones just because your kid is 25?
hi doxy
hi doxy, add a girls name
it is much better in a group and there are only the 2 of us now
taking my grandkids to an Easter Egg hunt today.
Well you could go to the party store and get some cans of silly string and go wild.
i will save it up for when i am a great aunt or grandmother (Heavens! The thought!)
how nice doxy
I'm looking forward to doing things like that Doxy. Have fun.
my former neighbors used to take the neighborhood kids to the white house easter egg roll but i never went
the only problem is I didn't sleep last night. I was still awake at 4 am.
i will watch the kids at meeting with their easter egg hunt (and quaker ancestors spinning in their graves!)
oh dear doxy can you take a nap?
I took my kids to a city Easter egg hunt once. There was a "Make Your Own" Easter Hat contest. The hats the kids made were priceless.
hopefully after the hunt.
oh i bet molly i love things like that
*makes doxy a lavender pillow for her nap*
mmmm, smells good
it will help you relax and sleep
Hello all, I would still like a lavender pillow, even though I slept.
hi red! I will make one for you too
hi Red!
it is the only hippy-dippy thing i do :-)
Oooh thanks Jmc. and Hi No no.
THe only thing?
sure I hate herbal tea
I like lemongrass tea, but the really odd celestial seasonings fruit teas, Bleeeech.
well except the hibiscus for colds and ginger for upset tummies :-)
I just used these new wall sticker things to decorate my wall. Has anyone else done this?
i did it years ago it was a disaster but i suspect they have improved the glue
help w/the ETs please
not the phone home ones :0
*puts on foil cap* ETs?

*whew*
et 6/7/8
what do your stickers look like red
don't have them jeff but i will help you look
they made a design sort of like cherry blossoms dripping over the edge of my window.
not even etwee.

drop the last vowel in mi 4/5 for the 6
ty jeff
Oooh thanks Jeff, very very nice.
talk to you all later. Have a good day.
bye and hi Doxy!
bye doxy have fun
yw
That sounds pretty Red, who makes them?
ugh there is a local election on tuesday and the phone hasn't stopped!
I found them on Amazon. they were like 8.00 for the sheet. They have some really fun ones.
I just like the idea that they do peel off, so easy decor.
so it goes over the sill? or over the top of the casing?
they come in a series of sticker and a diagram of sticking it, so it can go anywhere. I chose the window.
wow there is quite a variety! how ne**!
rushes to put Ne** on the list!!!
i have gotten tired of the gels for my front door maybe i could do this for a while
I am not exactly crafty so this was nice, the cheery blossom one was so delicate...
reminds me of those plastic shapes that you would make designs with as a child
yes!
(glad to help out with your word search red)
i hadn't thought of those for years.
the sticker project i did was ruffled edging around a bathroom door. it looked hideous, did not stick properly and then tore off the paint when i tried to remove the vestiges
this is a much better set up
hi all. 88 left bbl
hi and bye jmb
okay 120 left and I am taking a break bbl
bye jmc
* FIREWORKS *
guess I can't put off the kitchen any longer... Happy Easter to you all!
these are better jmc, I was able to pull them off pretty easily when I made a mistake.
and CONGRATS to Nono!
hello all
red, I seem to be on a losing streak on Scramble :(
I am very sorry Peri. I do seem to be winning. And no one else wants to play with me after a few games :(
but I guess not sorry enough to let you win!
not many people playing red. you, jacula and muse are my current partners in scramble. Ping plays sometimes. torgone and dc not lately
I am tring my best to get my mojo back !
good for you, rd, that you are winning. I know it is only a game. Never ealised how much I like to win too
I wonder if torgone of Jacula would like a game..
do not see jacula in here much anymore:(
Jacula would. torgone has not played a game with me in a long time. you could try him as well
I have seen her here recently crossy
Hello Cross, how goes it in the unfreezing north?
who else do you play with on scramble, red?
slowy red,,all the way ip to 6 celcuis here today and rain
Robin R...who has a handle here but I can not remember it!
nice cross.
it is PIng!! I have played with her too but she deleted the last game :(
Ping even
oooh.
i beat her and she didnt restart...
I beat her all the time.
Muse is an excellent player, never beat her but had a tie game recently
bl
I dont really care that much but I just seem to be on a winning roll at the moment...
Good Morning!
Hello Nef!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hi Mark. How are you?
last pa 5/12 plz
nm just got it.. now i can go out lol
I am doing quite well, thank you. What about you?
Sorry, as I was trying to tell you I didn't have it my son called
I have this next week off (vacation) and am really relaxed right ow.
top row done! :-D
Nef! How did you do it? It must have taken hours!! : P
hi Molly. Oh, it DID take hours! ;-) (jk) It really took a cup of coffee to find that last word, however. :-)
Boy, chog is very slow today. No wonder no one is chatting
I have no memory for words that end in two vowels. They just do not compute for me.
I got that one first; it was the contraction that I couldn't see
good morning, everyone :)
Well, naturally, I got the dirty one first. : P
hi cyber
Hi Nan
LOL, Molly! You said it; not me! ;-)
Hiya kids. I think chog lag should be referred to as "slog".
Hi Judi
Where is Red? Her pants are in the grid. : D
hi Judi. I like that
We adopted a little girl kitty yesterday. She's a torti calico mix. Looks mostly torti but has an orange nose. 6-8 months. The shelter has to have her spayed before we can bring her home. I'm hoping by next Saturday.
Aw, that's nice Judi.
I'm sorry about the death of your other cat, Judi. But this sounds like a pretty kitty that you found!
Thanks, Nef. She is very sweet. She was perching on my shoulders like a little bird. Just loved being petted.
Sometimes cats can be a PIA at times; but once the house is cat-less; it seems totally empty
Hello all - Judi what is great is that she probably has'nt had much of a life and now you know she will live the life of Reilly with you and get loved and spoiled daily - makes my heart happy
Amen to that. We do have another cat, but he's kind of a lone wolf. Not a real love bug like my other cat was. I totally need a love sponge cat.
Oh, she will definitely be spoiled!
I'm actually allergic to cats; but our daughter now lives with up and she brought her cat along too. We've had a small dog for over 20 years; but cats are very different. Even though I grouse about my allergies; I really would miss that cat not being here
What I miss most about my other cat is that his fuzzy little but was always right at the door when I came home from work. And, he always came to bed with me. So strange not to have that suddenly taken away.
What the hell kind of a word is en7??? Of course, Enable allows it, but gives no definition. Grr.
yeah. Our cat is a full-tailed Manx cat; they are more sociable than many other breeds of cats (she was actually a rescue as a 5 week old kitten. The mother rejected her and she was starving to death; also had worms, flease, etc)
fleas, that was
I haven't found it yet, Molly (but am looking!)
Awww. Poor baby. Lucky you found her!
Oh, it's supposedly the plural of the gross en word. Very suspect.
Does anyone who plays here live in St. Louis? They got hit hard with storms and a tornado last night.
my daughter found her. She was at farm of the boyfriend-of-the-time's parents farm (I've often wondered if they were a sort of kitty mill; breeding Manx cats)
LOL! I just read what I just posted. It's obvious that I need another cup of coffee to make sense today! :-)
bbs
does anyone have a clue for the de 9, please?
Don't have it yet, cybernan.
de+idi **** (uganda) +pack your clothes in a suitc***
sorry but that is the best I can do
ty ursh
and the de 6/30? -- was stuck on both
back for a bit - Hi Molly, that en 7 is the greek plural of an en 5 which is not in today's grid
oh, I see you found it - yes, very gross, but not as bad as some other babble words we have to put up with, including one today...
de+end of paper folding art
and yes, the en 5 IS in today's grid - sorry, I must need another cup of coffee - be right back
have both en 5's -- are you referring to the rectal one?
ty ursh -- would never have found that!
ah -- got it
couldn't think what the greek plural might be for a minute
i finished a while ago - if anyone needs a clue, just ask-=
some real strange words here today

still have 36 to go here -- just going through the list now (up to the g's)
sounds like your name s' Mom
same here cybernan but down to last 8 t/u/w
oh, sorry again, first ta 6 has a double Latin vowel combo -
alt spelling for te 5
*Sigh* Sometimes I feel like the words in this grid are in a language I do not speak.
I thought this grid was supposed to be in English -- annoying that we have all these foreign suffixes and purely foreign words like the ga 6 -- ones that are also used commonly in english I can understand, but ga 6?!
Nan! Great minds think alike.
can we raise a peaceful protest for deposing enable in favor of a more benevolent dictionary?
Yes Kap. I will go on a hunger strike right after Easter.
I don't mind a dictionary but it should at least have a definition for each word listed - I hate it when I look up a word and there's nothing there
I do too JBV. I think that's cheap. I had to go on an internet search for the definition of en7
still stuck on the first 3 ta words
first ta word is like the te 5 babblet with an extra vowel at the beginning
t + first two vowels + a her*** is a tear in your abdominal wall.
*I can never remember if the def. is the worm or the needlecase
yuk just looked up the ta words - tapeworms
etui
ha 6, please?
no needlecase.

Hello all -- can't stay, but just wanted to post my "odd coins" icon and writeup. I forgot to Save the writeup last night, and it's quite interesting!

No storm threats this weekend.
Thats good. You guys seem to have been through the mill.
Last Saturday was horrid with 60+ tornados in the state
Sorry mkg. I read that as AM.
ahoy all! I am going to start writing lesson plans... how is this grid, and how are you-all??
welcome aboard stid! How goes the taching?
Hello (((Stiddy)))). Not here long enough to form an opinion on the grid. Happy Easter to you :-)
the taching, pretty well. teaching... off and on success, much learning for all of us! *grin*
teaching is like parenting -- you never stop learning just keep going
thanks soodles. I hope your Easter will be lovely.
With fingers and toes crossed, Bugs!
absolutely, Soodle
anyway, much work to do this weekend (of course)
see you-all again soon I hope! *poof*
So far so good, Stid. The son and heir is home from the UK for Easter, which is always great. I'm looking forward to a nice family get-together tomorrow. :-)
Wow! A flying Stid-visit!
what fun. I hope it goes well Soodle
Thanks Bugs. I hadn't seen him since January, and its lovely to have all my chicks under the one roof again. :-)
more words has words not in enable dict. very strange.
Soodle, nice to hear you have your brood at home.
im not feeling the grid today ugh
Hello (((Moll))). Yes its great to have him home, albeit briefly. Big Sunday dinner en famile planned for tomorrow. :-)
I'm kind of blah about it too Cos. So many oddball words.
And what will be on the Easter table at Chez Soodle?
Turkey and ham, with all the trimmings, Moll. A Christmas dinner, but with the sun shining!
going out to dinner for easter tomorrow and to celebrate my birthday which is monday
And, the damage done to Chez Soodle following the burst pipe at Christmas has all been repaired. To quote my youngest daughter, our house looks like a 'normal' house now :-p
happy birthday cosdem!
((((( Cos))))) Happy birthday in advance. Hope you celebrate in style :-)
We are hopelessly stuck on ham dinner for Easter in my house. Potato salad, deviled eggs, fresh asparagus and ho-made rolls. Cos!!! You have a birthday coming up! Good for you.
yw.. its my 3rd anniversary of my 29th birthday
Hi all. Anyone have a clue for the de6, 30? It's my last word and I'm dumbfounded.
de + a board ****, change last vowel
57, Cos? LOL
a board **** like monopoly, etc
My middle son turns 30 next week. I made him a document inducting him into the "Fun Loving Order Of Forever 29".
lol.... if i have to say.. .32

A mere child, Cos, a mere child!

Moll, that sounds great. I'm sure he will laugh his head off.
Picture of horrified baby -----> http://tinyurl.com/3tz3kr6
lol aww thats adorable
That picture makes me laugh every time I see it. I had to find a use for it.
LOL. That expression is very familiar to me. It was frequently on all my kids' faces as they grew up!!
Although recently, the shock/horror look is more often on MY face.....Sheesh!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhh!
It's a trade off Soodle. Wait until you get the content smirk that means "They are my grandchildren. I can spoil them rotten and then hand them back off to you." That is payback like ten.
Roll on the day, Moll!
Oh and when the grandkids come along, all of a sudden you see your kids all the time. Way more frequently than you did before. That is because they are dropping them off to be babysat. I say Bring It On. I can't wait to be GramMolly.
ok my scholarship win has now been formally announced on all the liberal blogs that sponsored it :)
Yay For Cos!!!!!
Woo- double Whoo for Cos. Fantastic news! WTG!!

hi again everybody. How is it going? I started this grid this AM; but needed a lot of coffee to make any sense at all in the chog.....
hi all
am 6/24???
hey jm
Hi Nef. How are you and your family...
Hi jmc
how was breakfast with DC ru laugh all the way?
looking for that one ru
"doing well, red. how are you?" was not found in the dictionary
am 6/24 -- double a consonant; pl
LOL!
*giggle*
Hello BR and flosey.
(I guess I'm not much sharper now that it's late afternoon!)
am= not yours but ____
thanks BR
ru, double a letter in the am5 before it.
he was a little funny.. he seemed a bit reserved actually.. he is a very very bright man.. I liked him. had a nice breakfast and dropped them off at the ballpark to watch the giants destroy the braves.
always glad when someone destroys the braves
thank you
he is a little shy--but the chog allows the shy like me to blossom unimpeded
oooo ruru, a date?
I went to SF to meet DC Seain.. not really a date so to speak
rotflmao
why red?
oops
i must have missed a post in the chog
just the idea os ru ru and seain on a date sort of struck me as amusing.
sorry..
it just did.
gamate is not a word? what am i thinking of?
lol
I thought you were laughing at the idea that jmc was shy.
i am often taken by surprised by what gets me laughing in the chog
i think there us an extra e in it.
he's a cool guy..encyclopediac as far as history ..unbelievable..his buddy was nice too
(me too wht)
well that too. jmc is not shy...
I think you are thinking of gaymate jmc..lol
am too! *sulks*
lol ru
gamete
BR beat me to it :-)
ty BR i knew i was close
ty too red
hi une
jmc you went and met my parents at a poetry reading and you dont like poetry! you are not shy!
i thought it would be interesting
the fact that i can overcome my shyness doesn't me** it doesn't exist
see a shy person would hesitate...
and your parents are lovely
I'm sitting here thinking of what a hoot it would be to meet the "shy" jmc IRL! :-D
you think i didn't hesitate?
well you can all think what you like but i know i am
thats nice to hear.
I am also a very shy and retiring sort of person too...
NOT!!!
I do understnad jmc, about being a little introverted. I am introverted.
*snort*
same here, red
I only am shy around people ... animals ... buildings .. extraterrestrials ...
*sulks*
lol BR you have it right
I can be really shy around people I don't know, then really open later
i can overcome my shyness when i know what the rules are
I am quite shy around extraterrestrials!
worst memories were going to a playground with my boy when he was 2 or 3 and realizing there were unwritten rules and i didn't know any of them
Sorry jmc to make you sulk. (Passes jmc some dark chocolate.)
i think we all struggle with those!
See, I DO believe BR! And ruru too. And maybe red.... but because of her vocation and position in life; I can't imagine jmc as shy!
mmmmm dark chocolate goes so well with jack
I am far from shy nef..
but nef as a lawyer i have rules that i can follow i don't need to be shy
as a public speaker i am in control
that's what I said, ruru; you said you weren't shy
I wasn't sure what to offer to you jmc, chocolate or jack.
(I just don't always make sense)
i really really hate reading or listening to my speeches after the fact
gee wht does she have to make a choice?
still early wht--chocolate was best
wraps up the a's and is extremely proud of himself
hi all, anyone have the an6,21?
an 6.. blood disorder
thanks!
thanks ruru. 98 left...
I have thought about how odd it is for the written rules to be so often ignored while violating an unwritten rule always has consequences
you can hear one of my speeches here--at riverside church where MLK spoke http://tinyurl.com/3z3j9ly
i agree BR but people think i am a hardnose when i play by the written rules
odd when you think about it that i chose (rather it chose me) religious society of friends the church with the least written rules
ty ru
<---doesn't believe in rules
My response would be to question the necessity for a rule it it so cavalierly may be ignored
your wine does ru lol
i always told my son to question authority does not me** to defy it
I agree BR
da 5/14 plz
oops got it!
da + generic male
wtg ives
ty br!
I like that saying, jmc
:)
risky raising a child to question authority since that me*** they will always question yours! lol
g's done
wtg ru
that was along the line of my father's favorite saying
" don't do as I do.. do as I tell you to do "
lol! my daddy used to say that too!
I think that the uncle who raised me probably lived by that rule too ruru
Rules, like laws, tell people what is expected of them. If there are rules, they should be enforced universally and evenhandedly. If the rules are enforced one time and not the next, enforcement becomes capricious and unfair.
actually one of my favorite quotes on the DOJ building is: A country not ruled by laws will be ruled by the caprice of man
ha 6/24 anyone?
i read that as i left a reception for the shah of iran at the white house with nixon and i felt that quote quite changed my life view
sorry ru
(i was a congressional intern)
since deceased comedian who ran for president: Pat h + *****
ruru,it is a German plural
ha 6/24 think about what a home is and trade the first vowel in the word for the 1st vowel + a consonate
thank you
ty BR, wht and nef
TY from me too. Morning everyone
hi lynxxx
Hi lynxxx
I have a little statue of 4 children across the world with a music box in it that plays "we are the world" that's been packed a way in a box. Our grandson knocked the box over when he was here and I didn't look inside it. DH just opened it and now the music box doesn't work. The statue is still good. I'm wondering if I should try to fix it myself or not....
JMC, you very eloquently express your beliefs. Thanks for sharing that link. I have great respect for people like you. *Okay, all done with the warm fuzzies*
depends on the mechanism for the music nef
ty molly
It'll work when LIonel Ritchie's dughter gets out of jail..i'll be

huh?
That quote must refer to the divine right of kings as opposed to the rule of law ... Will always remember Cheney after 911 in an interview on PBS saying the US must go over to the dark areas and employ the rule of man and not the rule of law.
i really don't remember BR and I have not gone back to look for it.
it's a stretch of a joke jm.. nm
oh i just didn't get it -- went right over my little head
but that sounds right BR
i felt like it referred to nixon at the time

Hi folks ... I just noticed that some of the words on my word list are underlined and highlighted. When I scroll over an ad appears. Have I just missed that before? Is it just me?

Hello Easter bunnies!
bye lyn
hello scrabbler!
This is my first chance to get here today. I worked today and am on call til Monday 0800.
How are you doing, Owl?
holding my own. staying home for easter
I'll be home too--must be within 30 min drive of hospital.
but surrounded by bunnies!
BUNNIES!!!!!
bunnies?
Hi Crossy!
evening all
Hi Jes. Yes, I have 4 house bunnies--my beloved kids.
yay, bunnies! :)
Hi Pini
hey scrabs, jes....you guys missed my fun yesterday...
...had to get a tetanus shot ... yeehawww
What happened, Pini?
uh oh whatup?
i'm not sure that comes in as my definition of fun, pini...
Koda and I were playing ball before work; he adjusted his grip and my hand got in the way ;)
ouc
ouch
a pinprick puncture...
Not getting infected, I hope.
the doc gave me a tetanus shot (with a whooping cough booster), antibiotic (for the mild swelling and blush of redness)
oh, the pu6 and 7 is a good combo, haven't seen that in a grid before :)
...and instructions to soak in warm water (not sure what that's for)
probably to decrease swelling by drawing fluid out. Epsom salts in the water may help too.
Heat draws in blood flow, white blood cells--> prevent + fight infection.
Water will also help keep the puncture open, so any fluid can drain.
*looking for pu 6 + 7*
ahhh, explanations help; especially when something doesn't really make sense ;)
it's unfortunate that many MDs don't have good explanation skills. Same is true (maybe even more so) of many veterinarians--as a lot we are not the best at communication.
so, happily, I come to Babbleland!
were all is right with the world! :)
y'all are saints! :)
pu6/27 builds off the pu4/7
there's a 5 in the middle there too, so it's actually a 4, 5, 6, 7 set
pu4 as in like larval form?
***pssssst*** (don't tell pini, but her icon is PINK) *wicked little sister grin* *adds sparkly pink sprinkles to pini's icon*
hey scrabs! how are you feeling these days?
de6/24 pls?
Hi Stid. How are you and the Stid gang?
*psssst* (don't tell stid I know...but it's a holiday thing) ;)
Recovering from molar extraction--not too bad of an experience.
Ms De** Moore - but several of her
thx lynxxx
Hi Stid/poor Scrabs/ saw Pini/Jes
ty and ooh scrabs!
speaking of warm water...best get another dose in before I really get back into this grid...
yes scrabs, that pu
(may lurk, but won't be able to type)
back in a bit
ha6/24?
bye, pini
later pini
5 stinkin' woids left *begins to pull at hair*
stidgang okay, I am feeling overwhelmed again, and NOT recovering very quickly from that virus of now a week and a half... suspect it was more a flu than a cold, just very mild.
go TO go!
ha6.24 german word - like ho*** you live in plus coNs
glad extraction not completely awful, scrabs ((hugs))
sorry you aren't feeling well, stid
ty
I am also now feeling VERY sad... migraine starting. going to have to stop work (and play) thank jes ((hugs back))
ok, I am off the phone now. Will put details in my profile, but the short story is that my stepmother is failing. I am glad that I got to see her, and she was awake for a considerable part of my visit and was happy to see me.
I also got to talk to both my stepbrothers, who were also happy to see me and pleased that I had made the drive, so that was good all around.
(((gentle hugs for sue))) I have no words, just know you and your father will be in my heart.
Stid---just do what you can and do it in little bits. Priority = rest + recovery.
Is she comfortable, Sue?
thanks stid - I see that you are not feeling well yourself - take care of yourself and get some rest.
Thats so good Sue, nice for her to know that you still care for her
she seems to be, scrabs, although when I first got there this morning they had a bipap (?) machine on her, to pump air into her lungs, and that was quite uncomfortable.
thanks scrabs... now I have a doctor's advice that I must rest! *grin* and for a change I think I will take the doctor's advice. (((more hugs))) ***lovely choclits for all*** *poof*
but now they have her back on a regular oxygen mask, which is much more comfortable (and her oxygen levels still seem ok, where ok is around 90-92)
me4/6 & 5/14 pls?
BiPAP--can be annoying whether by nose cushions or mask, but can ease breathing.
select from the me** at the restaurant
this was a full-face mask, held on with velcro around her head.
ty. night all happy easter to those celebrating it
apparently her oxygen levels had plummeted during the night.
night, TO!
bye TOwl - and congrats
Congrats and good night, Owl.
Sue, just make sure she is getting an abundance of pain meds and sedatives.
g'night, TO
is good you got to go see her, sue. glad the trip went well, sorry to hear she's failing.
She doesn't really seem to be in much pain, scrabs, and is alert enough to be able to say when she is, which is good. I put a longer update in my profile...
Vital signs are good indicators for her pain and anxiety--increasing HR and BP suggest need to increase meds.
right - her BP and heart rate seemed ok while I was there (HR a bit high but not crazily so). The hospital seems quite good, and the staff very sharp; also my stepbrother has a fair amount of hospital experience (he is a PhD psychologist that works in a mental hospital) and is keeping a pretty close eye on things.
but I
oops
I'll mention that to him, so he can watch out for distress.
Give her permission to let go and reassure her that remaining family will be fine too.
well, I'm not there any more, scrabs, and probably won't get back until after the semester is over (another 3-4 weeks), if she lasts that long.
