tis okay, he passed not long after birth, had severe medical probs, his mum (our dtr) says she is blessed that she had him and blessed that he passed early because he would not have had a decent life. His 2 sisters and his brother always talk of him and celebrate his birthday every year. He would have been 7 on the 17th of this month
what a wonderful family you have! To have maintained awareness of the lost baby and to celebrate his short life, is very special!

oh yeah! I always tell myself it is so much worse if you don't do it, but I can be totally scared of the drawer with bills. Part of my ptsd. But at least this time I tackled it myself and got it all sorted out.

we aren't at that stage in my garden yet. I don't see anything with my poppies though. I've had them for at least 15 years
Roses don't bloom here til JUne, as well as my Japanese Iris
right now, I have iris, roses, peonies, allium, chives (yes, flowers!), and lots of little border plants whose names I don't remember. Oh, and my lilac blossomed for the first time this year

Lilacs are out. I don't have one. but my next door neighbors do. They don't mind if I sniff their flowers

My lilac is so small that I can't see it from the house but when (if) my son retires here, it will be magnificent !
the only snow we had was in December (4 ft) but then we had none after. But there is a bad drought and, if it doesn't rain soon, there'll be water restrictions. we'll have to use Evian (just kidding) -- let them eat cake, etc.

i used to get spring allergies bad as a child.before all these fancy new meds you very few choices,benedryl or dristan talbets.used to be so bad i would wake up with my eyes sealed shit at the eyelashes and had to feel my way to the bathroom for some warm water and a wash cloth to get my eyes open always felt like grits of sand were under my eyelids

hi again. I had to go and sort out DH's meds; normally I dish them up on Sunday night for the week and last night I was too tired. So this AM he tried to do them himself. Sorting them out, I found we had a couple of pills in a bottle that shouldn't have been there

LOL! Joey, I've tried to keep you in my prayers. My step mother is now 11 years since she had her breat cancer and my kid brother is 5 years in remission (step mother refuses to use that term)
I am 16 years out on one side and 1 1/2 out on the other side. I am in remission - have to say it loud and clear.........

I agree. Of course, I also know a number of people who didn't make it. When my son was in 4th grade in a small parochial school (he had 16 classmates) we lost 4 of those 16 Moms to breast cancers that year; none of them the same type!

It is thought provoking that I don't remember anyone mentioning the word years ago. One of my classmates in grade school in 1962 died of leukemia, that is the only instance that I can recall until much later.

I worked in a nursing home as an aid back in high school in the early '60's; I remember seeing the terrible scars that they had from breast cancer back then. They looked as though the breasts were twisted off-- terrible!

as a purely academic curiosity... i wonder how much the breast cancer incidence would be reduced by ovariectomy in young women...
makes a HUGE difference in rates in dogs...

Joey, when I had my surgery, I wanted them to wake me up if it was cancer so I could decide if I wanted surgery or not because of seeing those scars. I was very upset at the time that they just took the lobe; but now I'm glad that they didn't listen to me
I remember hearing the stories of the women who had surgery and woke up with no breasts without anyone ever telling them that that was a possiblity.
I'm sure that it would make a big difference in survival rates, jes. But I think that ethically it wouldn't go over so well....

I won't burn out Nef. I recognize that this level of work is more than I will ever do when teaching except for short spurts. AND the school I am in (my neighborhood school) is wonderful to work in. I love the mentor teacher, the kids and the tasks (most of them). Just don't care for the extra paperwork and reports I must do for the Master's program

it is; we have several OOOOOLD dogs boarding right now, that have incontinence and arthritis issues. waterproof mattresses would be very helpful.
we have 1 crib mattress, but 3 dogs that could use it...
My sister's sterilizer went out and I was able to get her a used one from my old hospital's used warehouse
there is no local large child care center. i didn't think to ask the hospital. i guess i assumed they wouldn't have disposable mattresses, just mattress covers?
possibly. Or what about getting a heavy blue plastic tarp that you could use over some old rugs?
right now we're using heavy-duty garbage bag full of blanket
but it's kind of a pain. a couple more mattresses would be nice... but none of the local second hand stores have them
might end up having to break down and buy new ones from walmart or something.
I don't think that second hand stores can sell old mattresses (we can't here, anyway)
