a random hello to FM
Hi just up for a few min. and thought I would see who else is.:)
Hi Chickie - from the other bird
hi Chickie, just us chickens
hi bird :-) Hey Lyn,I know about those chickens Tee Hee.:)
BBS my daughter just dished up Caesar salad - woohoo!
my eyes are getting heavy from pain mds. I had some major dental work done today so my mouth is sore.
GN <yawning>
Ceasar salad with chicken?
t
Yes...and it was very nice
Hi Helen
morning all
happy birthday to lil*monkey!
good morning Sprite
Hi Sprite
looks like a promising grid, lyn and Birdeee! Is it?
Yes - it's fun but I am a little slow - been busy tonight and so I am a little more than halfway through.
very easy Sprite, the words fall out, a lot from earlier grids from this week too
Hi Sprite! Surviving the -5 weather?
lovely, just what I need today, thanks :)
hi MG
hi MonkeyG, enjoying it, actually. When I get blue skies and sun, I don't mind freezing temps.
I'm kind of the same way if I can choose to be out in it or not. Have to go pick up the bakfiets tonight at 5 so not looking forward to the trip back.
blue skies??? yay!!!
Monkey Games - is it your birthday? Are you why I have a sock monkey icon today??
just make sure you are dressed warm enough. Gloves are very important. The rest will get warm while riding :)
No, that's Lil Monkey. Mine is NEXT month!
Birdeee, it is lil*monkey's birthday.
I see - what are bakfiets?
More concerned about Walter... but I will sit him on a sheepsking and wrap him well in wool blankets.
A bakfiets is a cargo trike. Hang on and I will find you a link.
that will work just fine, MG. And dress him up in layers. Hemdje, t-shirt, pully, trui, vest, jas
Here: http://www.debakfietsspecialist.nl/bak fiets.jpg
hi sprite..I'm back after getting fireworks on the last grid (my 1st one) but not sure if I can handle 272 yet
There is an immensely wrong story about my old crappy one. My new good one is in for tuening up and for repairs where the enormous truck hit it a coupld weeks ago.
Oh I know those - I had one when we lived in Switzerland - love them and they are very popular in Portland
How are you all
wtg nmyb! Congratz on your first fireworks, and I know they won't be your last. My advice would be: babble as long as you have fun and time, and when you get fireworks, enjoy. And when you don't, just enjoy the game :)
You bet, Sprite. Plus I have a skibroek that is too big-- perfect for over his other broek.
Hi lady
hi Infernal
HOw goes it?
Doing OK, Herin. Walter's head looks much better too and he says it doesn't treally hurt today, an dhe has all his energy back.
hi lady, ok here. Skies are blue, sun is out, washing machine repair man is due here between 11am and 3pm.
Wonderful Monkey
The Washing repair people are good that you got hold of them at this time of year
Hi Birdy and Lyn
phoned in the day after Christmas, got the answering machine, left a message. A couple of hours later they rang. Seems it is golden business for them, this time of year!
We just organised NYE no drinking and Driving for us
you will survive, lady, I am sure
lady, your birthday monkey rocks!
We have a friend that doesn't drink
MonkeyGames - look at this cool place http://clevercycles.com/store/?c=web2. 68 I bet they look familiar
I hardly ever drink alcohol anymore, because of the meds, and I don't miss it much. A really nice beer or one glass of a really good wine maybe, but I find water or juice are just as pleasant.
Yup, that's the most popular kind here right now. I like the three wheelers because I am not afraid I'll turn one over, and I am often accompanied by a leased 51-kilo dog, who could turn it over if she lunged to the side.
sweet Saskia
What sort of dog Monkey?
Yeah, she's a good dog!
Great Dane
OH cuddle the horse
she is the most gentle of her breed I ever met. Such a darling.
petition, not in the grid, but almost....
red, I know, I tried 3 times to be certain!
Hi red
Awww, thanks, Sprite. She is kind of a doofus as well, though, you have to admit...
hi
Jill would agree
Will do, Herin!
HI Red monster
lol only her people can be allowed to say that, MonkeyG. I found her to be gentle and sweet and patient and huggable.
Well, she IS all of those things, it's true. But that's why we picked this breed in the first place.
She sounds lovely MOnkey
oh, btw, our mama-dog is doing well in her pregnancy. The breeder expects she will be able to feel the... oh dear... vruchtkamers.... MonkeyG help!... in a few days! So she can tell how many pups are probably in there.
Amniotic sacs, Sprite.
And that's good news!
also, Saskia was very protective of Walter, in a gentle way. She kept track of where he was all the time.
thanks Monkey! Amniotic sacs.
Sprite you have a wonderful grasp of English. I have given up with words today
Just finished all the 8 & 9 letter words but still have a lot to go.
thanks lady :) I try to learn. But this phrase was totally new to me, and I am glad MonkeyG could help me out.
How does the selection take place Sprite, are you the first on a list of new owners and get first pick or something like that?
wow Birdeee, I have one 8 only, lol.
You just got here!
Sorry, had to duck out to dispense warm milk... back now.
and you have been busy thinking about amniotic sacs
lyn, we are the 3rd, alas. There were already people on the list for this lady dog when the breeder decided to go with Dana first. But somehow I have the feeling we will get the perfect dog for us anyway.
can you imagine me chatting with one of my oversea friends and casually dropping 'amniotic sacs' into a convo about the puppy? LOL!
I'm sure you will.
It's a perfectly normal medical term. If they can't handle it it's their problem *she says primly*
get the perfect dog that is. lol
ah lyn, you know me, I will but will explain it was translated for me by a friend.
oh lol, sorry. Yes, I am sure too. There is a picking order, but I know the breeder also looks at the families and the character of the dogs. She will advice if someone would pick a dog not suitable to their style of living.
*should, not would
Advise. Sorry, biut you tell me to do that and I appreciate it when people do it with my Dutch...
Actually, "would advise" OR "picks"...
will advise is correct : )
I truly appreciate that you do it for me, MonkeyG :)
Yes, it is. But will advice is not.
And would pick is rather Dinglish in that sentence... She will advise if someone picks, or she would advise if someone picked.
Sprite your puppy will choose you
that is a truism herin
Ok, I am off to the human salt mine. Everyong please have a good day.
Indeed it is.
Travel safe Red
Bye Red! Hang in there!
heal lots of people red!
KJE my kitty picked me
be safe, red
my goal today is not to kill the staff....
yes, I think it is a two-way street. We will pick eachother.
red, my prediction is you will succeed :) (either way)
hello everyone..........dag sprite and monkeygames
well, good luck with THAT then - LOL... I know that feeling
Good goal. It's mine every Monday and Tuesday (but not today-- Walter has vacation so so do I until I get work that pays!)
hoi trisha :) Fijn je te zien.
Hoi, Trisha! Hoe gaat het?
hi Trisha
HOw come Petries isn't a word but it is spelt right?
:)....allez gaat prima...leuke weertje...everything is great in this part of the world,,,,,,,,,great weather for new years eve which is spent OUTside,,,,
I guess it classes it as a proper noun. I was displeased about petrie myself.
actually, in secret I am certain our puppy is already pulling strings to make it all happen our way. Mama dog was months late with coming in heat, so we could save enough money to buy the puppy :) And now they are due on my daughter's birtday!
I didn't think it was
What fun!
aw trish, sounds great!
Well, it is named after a person, Herin, but as far as I'm concerned it isn't proper anymore.
yes I think it is. Proper noun, I mean. They are called Petrie schaaltjes here... Petrie disks or bowls.
ok
of course, enable lives in the times before internet, so what can you expect?
shew.lots of words today so i better get started
Exactly. Like no4 being OK and mung not, though, it is also just plain perverse.
Enable gives me insanity
HI Trish
hi there......her...lady :)
I like enable. I get to feel superior to a dictionary every day, I can yell at it, and it makes for an incrowd-language only other babblers understand, which is funny in itself.
Well (*nodding dubiously and granting the point*) there is that...
I just looked up and saw you there Trish
ohhhh I have iceflowers on the window! They are so pretty!
Oh pretty
Back-- doorbell rang. Late Xmas presents from my aunt.
lovely sprite... how cold there today?
What you get Monkey??? CUrious Gorge that I am
aw that is so sweet MonkeyG
-5.4 in Haarlem, kje...
kje, only -5 celcius, it isn't that bad
nah, not bad
Dunno what's in mine because it's dual with Danny so need to wait until he gets home. But Walter got a fabulous pop-up alphabet book and a knight on horseback with a hydra to fight, extremely finely made.
wow for walter, he will tell you stories about them in no time!
Wow cool
Oh yes. Really, really weird storiues.
My parents gifts still haven't arrived. I am mightly peeved
great great icon, MonkeyG. Though you might wanna change your profile text to fit... lol.
your icon is cool too, kje, btw
TY
Yeah, I guess I should get around to that... before people think it's a picture of me.
before people start thinking you are married to a monkey and your son is a tree, grinnn
rofl!!! just read the start of that text - that is hilarious!!!
KJE I love your icon
*admits to having a sick sense of humour*
ty herin
HEY... I took that part OUT!!!! Dang. Mutter, mutter... going to change that now.
ohohohoh I realised my new bed is a King size
well, that WOULD be a miraculous event mg - rofl
sweet herin - now you can stretch out all you want
you said so yesterday, lady, lol. And we agreed that oysters and a king size bed were enough for a wonderful NYE.
Well first we got to buy the matress then the bedding
Mutter mutter. OK, took that out AGAIN.
lol MonkeyG, thanks for the laughs!
Sprite we may not have Oysters but salmon. We are having friends over for fancy tea then another friends house
And we got the whole thing for $70. We found the bed head on the side of the road
you will have fun anywhere, lady :) And salmon... smoked salmon? You can wake me any time for smoked salmon, you know that don't you??
Well yes
too funny... i am eating smoked salmon and creme fraiche as we speak
lovely kje :) Enjoy!
yummy
too many As in this grid... seriously, 15????
we have seen worse, kje!
well, this seems bad enough for now
i only have half
so far the only thing I don't like about this grid is my inability to find a use for that X. For that -ix even.
I was just going to say too many t's, especially to's
and i have deep suspicion that the rest do not exist
yep... me too sprite... i have looked, but no use yet
I think youi should be more worried about the R words
aaaagghhhh - you guys are freakin' me out!!! now I'm worried about As Ts and Rs!!!
I never worry about re words. They are too illogical to worry about, I just try everything until they are done.
hahaThats what i am here for
oh wait.... there are 19 hours left... it will be OK
kje, you can make arts that way!
don't forget the 49 s's or the 34 p's.
but arts is not accepted! do not try to trick me sprite ; )
HI Katy and thanks for that groans
hi, and yw (i think)
sorry kje :) Hi Katy, now you are talking. I don't even KNOW 34 P words.
I got 13 of them. I keep wanting to put in person, but it just don't work!
Katy, wonderful icon!
I have been trying to type in person all night
i have 13 too! wonder if they are the same... tell me yours and I'll tell you mine - LOL
I usually type in person-- people who type for one are expensive.
thanks, but it looks all skewed here.
lol MonkeyG
ty** = PB
oh monkey. groan - that is so bad its funny.
Agh, didn't have it yet. Sigh.
lol thanks lyn
oh hey thanks lynx and monkey
I don't think it is possible to have this many R words
hi Katydid
Y word?
i just got 8 ty words from that!
NM! ugh
actually, i should try that more often... ususally when i search and search and can't see it, it appears as soon as i ask...
just got that weird ee word
that is a pro babble trick, kje, wtg!
wow... did i just get promoted??? yay! I am a real babbler now ; )
you just made it into the secret babble trick society :)
do we get tattoos or something cool???
so far all we had was the secret handshake. I think a tattoo is a brilliant idea!
let's all get tattoos of little yellow tiles on a green background
way too obvious. It should be subtle.
Must go do housework now. Have fun everyone, catch you in a while!
microscopically small... with letters that spell enable sucks
bye for now, MonkeyG.
bye mg
Later MG
bye monkey
enjoy monkeygames. have a great day.
lolllll kje that is perfect
i still have 1 blank tile... the right lower O...any clues
NM!!!! sheesh - a fish
OK, no blank tiles and 100 left... should go shower...bbiab
lol it works again!
bye for now, kje, enjoy the shower
*hanging head in shame*... indeed it did sprite...but egads, how easy
shoot
sorry
Why do they have to spoil a good show by making stupid errors
105 left but I am bushed- see you tomoorow
off to bathe before i end up in PB
bye Birdee, sleep well
Night Birdie
bye Birdee
because otherwise you wouldn't have anything to rant about, lady :)
I am not as bad as my friend that is a chem analist
woot 1 x 9 and 2 x 8 down
gj
thanks :)
just found the other 9, but only 2 8's like you
wtg lyn!
Yah Lyn
wow, just realised how many S's from the left I was missing
I just started attacking them
I am still babbling randomly. Slowly getting to the point where I am gonna try finish tiles though.
Aw just had to tell my son that if his homework isn't done in time, he cannot have his friend staying over. Whole mama speech about better planning and work that is not going away just because you don't feel like it. And now I hear him singing in his room, while doing his homework. Isn't he precious.
So am I sprite
we will work together then, lady!
That is good that he is doing his homework
yes it is great. It is such a good boy.
lol, he really took that lecture to heart Sprite, totally devasted by it obviously!
lol lyn, so it appears! Another traumatic period in his youth!
Sprite it is good he is listening
lady I am very happy to hear him sing! He did listen, he is doing what he has to do and is not feeling bad... what more could I want?
Not much else
my son and daughter are very different in this respect. Caya plans carefully, we never have to tell her to finish her work in time. Tim is into immediate gratification... if he doesn't feel like it, he will not do it, and feel bad later because he is out of time. So I guess he is learning!
SPrite he sounds like me
*hugs lady* Wouldn't you hate having me as a mother, lol.
No
Hugs the sprite
that is sweet :) My kids do, sometimes, but never for long. They don't like it that I am willing to let them suffer the consequences of them not doing what they know they should. But I think it is the best way to learn ;)
I am currently dealing with my friends nephew]
oops, not really something you like, I believe?
I think I judged this grid a bit early, my last 60 are proving harder to find...or maybe I'm just tired. Goodnite everyone. Have a good day/night
No he is ok but he is a pain in the arse
night lyn, sleep well and have a grand day
Night Lynxx
wow ignoring works well
oh yes, it does. Especially when you aren't obliged to raise a kid. Go lady :)
He is all you don't get it i like this girl but shouldn't blah blah blah. This girl has a special friend. I am trying to grid
how old is he?
14. I have nick named him Emo boy

I am enjoying your company lots too, kje!

pr 9 === the exhibition games before the regular ones
hi BR... lurker ; )
Hello all. Welcome back to the USA, kje.
thanks kje
hey BabbleRabble, good to see you!
GM scrab!
HI Scrabbler
Back again briefly.
who are you calling briefly?
HI Monkey and Babbler
hey Scrabs *hugs*
exhibition games???? hmmmm
I got out of bed after the first alarm--I often lose valuable Babble time by using the snooze alarm 3-4 times.
hehehe sprite
oh dear MonkeyGames has her undies out
Hi MG
OK, no tattoo for scrab - she sleeps rather than babble
What?
wow Scrabs, well done today
Ohh, briefs! Ha ha!
well done Scrabbler for getting up so quickly
I am not a morning person--I have great difficulty gaining consciousness and becoming vertical in the morning.
Walter saw your icon, Scrabbs, and said, "That green rabbit person is the doctor for kids!" I am supposed to say to you that he is poor Walter because he cut his head and had to go with the ambulance and get glue.
kje--is there are official Babble tattoo now?
the sunny side of that is that you start every day with at least two victories, Scrabs
woohoo scrab... are you actually vertical now, or just babbling in bed? LOL
yes, scrab... sprite and i developed it last night
He is fine though-- no concussion or anything. This was evening before yesterday.
Hi Walter!! Glue is better than stitches!
pr 9 --- before autumn or winter or fall or winter
http://tinyurl.com/9xcvhr Scrabbler my dear just for you
for every thing... turn. turn.. turn...
I told him that too. The paramedics said they could fix it up here but that it looked like it'd leave a heck of a scar if we didn't go get it glued, so we did.
oh, TY BR!!! that gave me a couple
thanks babbleRabble, got it.
I am vertical--I have a desktop but am looking at buying a mini-laptop someday. I am SO frugal that I haven't done it yet.
oh scrab, MUST do the laptop! it is so convenient to be online anywhere
I own a laptop and it never leaves my desk, lol.
i carried mine all over europe... almost everyplace is wired now days... i love it
I know--I had one picked out, on tigerdirect.com, on Sunday, then got too anxious and opted out. I get anxious to spend over $100 on anything. Lessons from my Depression surviving parents.
do it do it do it do it
besides, to pay more for a laptop that does not scrimp is a mortgage payment or less
Always buy a laptop to suit your needs
one more mortgage payment will not make you a spendthrift
I will not buy another laptop, now that the screens are small enough to be on my desk. Next time, I will buy a normal computer.
There is a $350 mini-laptop that I am eying.
I loves my laptop
oops, bbiab
My mortgage will be paid off in a few weeks!! Maybe I could get meself a laptop to celebrate!!
that calls for a celebration indeed
herin--I like the pic of the sleepy kitty.
morning
*gronk*
I thought of you Scrabbler
Hi Feather!
OH Morning Feather.
morning feather
scrabs, remember that migraine you were talking about yesterday? it decided to visit me
Feather I found a toy your boys would love. Kota the triceatops
i took 2 tylenol 45 minutes ago, and no change. ugh.
hugs Feather
Ouch, Feather! Hang in there and I hope you get better!
re 8 --- add, salt salt salt salt salt
That goes for you too Monkey
I'll look it up, Herin, and thanks!
coke for breakfast, yummy.
Its friggen awesome
http://tinyurl.com/a2wd52 this is it. Yes it is expensive but still very cool
Oh, Feather--yuk with the headache. Mine was bad when I went to bed and I was happy to wake up without it. 2 days was enough.
OH Scrabler yucky
lol herin, yeah i saw that in a magazine before christmas
Wow, that is REALLY cool! Wish I had any money, or a place to put something like that!
think it's ok to take a third tylenol? or is that a no no
glad yours is gone scrabbler
If i had infinate money I would buy it
don't know, feather, I would stick to what the prescription or enclosure said.
yeah, you're probably right sprite
can you lie down? Perhaps in a dark room? Or have someone massage your feet? Gently?
i'd love to, but daniel's awake and running around (4 years old) and nick's waking up (one year) and hubby is still asleep. he had a tummy bug yesterday, so i don't want to wake him.
think i'm going to stick a movie in, make nick wait in the crib for 15 minutes, and go take a dark shower.
lousy conditions to have a migraine in, feather :(
yup. such is life.
at least it's still dark outside, that helps.
Can hubby take over ?
You took 100 mg of Tylenol already?
umm, lemme check scrabs
no, they're 500mg caplets, so 1,000
actually, it's getting slightly better after food and the coke.
I meant 1000 mg.
You could take ibuprofen or naproxen next. naproxen almost always works for me--440 mg at onset, although that did not work on Sunday.
not sure if i have naproxen, will have to check. i do have ibuprofen.
gotta go check on daniel, he's getting into something
one r down

i say only attractive people should go nude - LOL... some of the men in europe that dare to bare amze me

I should NOT go nude! My body would make many ill.

kje--I am looking at a $379 mini-laoptop...I need help hitting the checkout button.
I much prefer my lily white behind thank you. I glow white
do it scrabbler is it what you want does it do what you want?
hit it, Scrabs. There is no Depression and you will enjoy it so much.
Yes, it has many great features. Of course my ideal would be a $1400 MacBook but I would be sick to spend that much on myself.
I think people should tan the way they like. And what if they are fat or not so pretty or skinny... their bodies are still miracles and beautiful in their own way.
I agree..... we are fearfully and wonderfully made
if that is what you really really want, Scrabs, why not do it? You are worth it, right?
I am doing it--for myself!
the washing machine repair man has arrived, hallelujah!
yay Scrabs, proud of you!
woot scrabbler
Scrab... if you can afford it... get the mac.... my bff is the head of her IT dept and she swears by the mac... do it....that's my dad's biggest regret... he and mom scrimped to save for their golden years and now it's just him.... get the mac and enjoy!
please hope with me that the machine can be fixed AND for a moderate fee....
prays to the machine gods to be nice to Sprite
"says a prayer for sprite"
thanks sweetie!
I did it--$393 total for a mini-laptop. Jorjah, maybe someday I can save $1400 for a Mac Book.
YAH SCRABBLER
I know that the MacBooks are the best, but for now I will start with a netbook.
Now I must get ready for work....enjoy the day everyone.
good for you!! and believe me I understand about saving... or rather the concept of it... lol 3 in college and a daughter just got engaged planning a nov wedding.... as I said.. one day lol
hagd scrab!
I bought my nephew a MacBook 2- 1/2 yrs ago when he graduated from high school.
awwww that was sweet
My mortgage will be paid off in a few weeks so this is my celebration and reward for myself.
bye Scrabs, well done and have a grand day
well, Scrabbler, my last on the subject. How did your rabbits get to be worth more than you?
I don't self-indulge much, so this purchase is a really big deal for me.
you are totally worth it, Scrabs, so well done and make sure you enjoy.
I place everyone ahead of me, sadly. I do treat my bunnies very well.
So, BR, are you saying that it is OK for me to treat myself, or that I should have been frugal and foregone the purchase?
sounds awfully familiar. That will burn you up until there is nothing left to give... so more than well done, Scrabs.
very proud for you scrab...may it bring you many days of babbling enjoyment *s*
I am saying you can afford to be kinder to yourself .. enjoy the fruits of your labor?
It sure will, and at locations other than at this desk in this room.
TY, BR, you are right! I do work very hard. OK, off I go to earn more money.
hear hear BabbleRabble.
And you may have some where warmer too Scrabler

could i have clues for the po and pr8s pls..
well, the repair man has declared the machine dead. Repair would be almost 200 euros with another repair coming up in about 6 months of about the same price. We are going to need to buy another one now.
can I cry for a sec ?
whats broken sprite?
oh sooo sorry sprite. It would be foolish to put that much into repairs so new one or a good used one would be best
sorry sprite - quite a shock right after Christmas
Damn it Sprite that is very annoying. Can you freecycle a machine?
I agree, new one is best choice at this point
yes it is, and a lousy timing, just when we had managed to get out of the worst money problems.
how much in euros would a new one cost?
rolin: the print plate, is that correct english? And he also spotted a beginning leakage of the... now I need to grab a dictionary... lagers.
they start at about 300, 350 euro for a dependable one, nanette.
the bearings
bearings are always bad news
Sprte: http://tinyurl.com/9jql7e
well, there are worse things in the world. But it stinks. We surely could do with a couple of lucky events.
I don;t know if that can help Sprite but AUs freecycle yielded a fridge and a washing machine for my friend
thanks lady, will check that group out!
ir clue?
to make a shirt un wrinkled?
yup, bearings will have to be repaired within 6 months. So that would be more in repairs than a new one, and the repair man said not to spend that on this machine.
a kind of metal I don't like doing, Lynn

Sprite: http://tinyurl.com/8upxdk This is the offical Freecycle link

I have put aside some money that I expect my employer is going to demand I return, though they haven't yet. I think I will use that. And when my employer asks for it, I will propose a periodic payment without interest :)

Hi JBV, how is your husband?
adding my p.s. to your holiday chat - mine were very mellow this year - a great relief since I lived on pure adrenaline for about 4 weeks (while hubby was in hospital and first week home) - all is going well now, so I am breathing again
TY. OK, that's what I'm missing then. I have two ey4 and one ey5 -- what are the lengths of the others?
JBV, I am very happy to learn that your hubby is doing well
hi, annie - thanks for asking - getting better each day
they're all 4's and 5's - 4,4,5,4,5
ty, got them now
the 5s are plurals
only ey,s ive found so far is the eagles nest

Hello Angelsong! How are you doing? Welcome to grid!
90 left, bbs
Goodbye periwinkle! I will see you later on in the log!
Seems ok to me ..
bye peri
The server is fine here, but don't want to jinx myself
Hi torgone! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
Heya Min!
hi angel. not too slow here either
I've got a respiratory infection at the moment. coughing, sore throat, runny nose, not fun.
poor angel
i had something similar for about three weeks, angel, much sympathy!
I think that "typer" should be a word. That's what we are when we use the keyboard; a typer or a typist.
gratuitous clue: no 5/6 combo rhymes with gl**** in excelsis deo
omg, i impressed myself, i found both 9's
yay, jacq!
I had to resort to the list and More WOrds- or else I'd be here all day - have 9 to go - all T's!
go JBV!!!!!!
hello fuquavarina
of course when it's over 250 words you need the list and MOREwords... unless you're ata or something...
another gratuitous clue (just found it myself ) tr 6 - neptune's pitchfork
what do they begin with jacq? (the 9's)
or 9 (related to or 6)
or9/54 and pr9/60
pr 9 prefix for what you to make food ta6
thanks... will work on them
the or extends from the or6/18
oh jbv that is just silly. when i make it ta6, it is usually before cooking.. wouldn't think you need theprefix
OMG - I have 5 left and they're all TY's!
bad clue, then, I think it has to do with football, maybe
think of warm up games footballers would have before the se6 starts
lol, dorens, think sports
well, i have 150 left and three of them are ty's
see how my mind runs to food first
ohhhhh thanks fuq, that does make sense
and thanks jac
Dorens, that is a beautiful pic in your icon
and yours JBV
Fireworks! and thanks for all the clues I picked up here in the chat -
yes, it is the sunset on this beautiful island
yay! jbv
Congratulations JBV on your fireworks! Good for you
wtg jbv
wtg JBV!!!!!!
woo hoo, jbv!
thanks, jacq - mine is a photo of a place in the rain forest in Puerto Rico - a nice quiet spot = no swimming allowed, but you can sit on the edge and dangle your feet in the pool
el junque?
yes dorens, El Yunque - we visit there often - have friends with a great apartment in Luquillo
lucky you... that is so sbeautiful.... la mina falls.... and the delicious fish at the kiosks in luquillo
okay work calls and I can no longer ignore it BBL
later jm
hmm, nice to think about - it will be a while before we can plan a trip, tho
Goodbye jmcnrick! I will see you later in the chat log!
El Junque - That's what I used to call my car ..
greetings everyone!!!
LOL, tor :) - in that case, don't try driving up the mountain in that car -
hi mm
hi movieman
Hi movieman! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
I'm fine minver, 119 words left
got an image from one of my fave flicks as my icon
my only guess is s2001
correct, dorens!!!!!!!!
cool. i loved it. when it first came out it was just stunning, literally. couldn
couldn't presume to know what it was about though
In a nutshell, it's all about the evolution of mankind
yah, well i got that much... the ending kind of eluded me though
The starchild is the final stage of man's evolution, apparently
Hello...who knows what that movie meant..they were all on drugs back then
amazing films mvieman, you have good taste
hey phae
kind of got that too... well, i guess i did understand it after all (and yes, smoked just before it ... that ight be why i forgot that i did know it)
Can I have a clue for the or6, please?
the ending was about hope
OR6 -- one who speaks
thanks eva
extend that or 6 in a way for the 9
YW
add onto it for the OR9
how does the or9 build off that?
downwards
common suffix phae
If anyone is interested in checking out my DVD collection, just head on over to: http://cinedude1.dvdaf.com/owned
ahhh...a pl...thank you
Good morning my friends!
movieman - are you interested in old movies also? I mean like the ones we see on the Turner Classic movies, etc. - once in a while a treasure turns up, just recently I saw "Wild is the Wind" with Anthony QUinn and Anna Magnani - I thought it was brilliant, had never heard of it before
heya car

neither do I.
thx, flosey and car...
So...as my stocking continued to hang empty in the morning...I explained to my kids that I had sacrificed my goods so that they could get 2 presents each from Santa...
JBV - Yes I am, I particularly like Fritz Lang, especially M and Metropolis
pe 7 - french father + charged particle
ty jbv!
ty JBV
thx jbv! i know we've had that before.
chris had to give me IOUs for a few things...i insisted he spend his money on his family instead of me, but secretly, i was hoping he would have planned ahead...alack, and alas...
car, i hope things improve for you and yours in the new year
and you too Eva
i still got gifts from him. just not everything he wanted to give to me. i got IOUs from him last year, also, when he was unemployed. those never got fulfilled, and i hadnt held my breath expecting them to be. but this year, he gave me IOUs for 2 things i really want, so i hope he comes through!
well...actually...my DH is now spending some time at him mom's...not over the presents but for many other reasons.
i'm sorry car, i hope things work out for you, i trully do
And Jacq, I DO hope that things will improve for us. It has been a terribly hard year for us. I have faith though, and my dear family, so it will all be OK>

yeah it's very windy
my cats, however, are remaining calm.
torgone, have i ever told you that you make me think of james taylor?
not because i think you are like him, since i don't really know...

firewords!!
it's a good grid
yay, bubba! that was quick!
harpjane! What happened to Mrs. Jetson? I almost didn't "recognize" you!
Yeah Bubba!
only simple words were left
could I get a clue for pe6/21 just before the 7 or just after?
congrats bubba!
there's a pe7? !
pe6/21 is the plural of the pe7. think Latin plural
pe6,21 edgar allen *** + DOS is an old operating **stem
the pe 6/21 that I do have is to eventually run out...pe*** + the plural consonant
sorry that was the pe5
pe6,21 french for father + opp of off
have those, car.
pe7 is french for father + charged particle
sorry skooj.
thx, bubba.
pe6 french for father + abb for the state of iowa
All great clues Bubba! Thanks!
thx again, bubba. great clues.
and thx, car, too!
ok 167 to go, a noble effort before work! bbl
one of my favorite quotes uses the word ro8/50
Who is the author of the quote?
jane austen
hmm
Whew, been back 45 minutes from the errands and am starting to be able to feel my feet again. Need to kill ten minutes before putting the pasta in th ewater. Hi.
Hi monkey!
Hi Beachboggle! You've gone all pro like!
;-)...LOL...I have had help!
about moving in proper circles?
I had help too.
Cool icon! But what is the thing that looks like a golden lion tamarin in a keychain rectangle?
jane austen; "to the prevalence of which ro8 motion is perhaps to be attributed the giddiness and false steps of many."
It is all vintange pots and pans..... and utensils.. I DO love to cook!
wow, people are looking up my favorite quotes :) i feel so special
your are special in babbleland
Me TOO! What are your specialties? Mine are Szechuan, Cantonese, Himalayan, Mexican, and Kashmiri.
i was distracted by skyping with <----
So of course tonight when we start talking about it I am making pasta with the help-- but only help-- of a jar of pasta sauce. That kind of day.
the miss beauforts were soon happy with 'the circle in which they moved' in sanditon - for everybody must now 'move in a circle', and then the bit that bubba said.
could I please have a clue for pr9
Let's see.... You name it.... I am from the southern US, so, I think my specialty is southern cuisine
I wanted to make springbok Wellington again because the springbok was marked WAY down, bu I had already promised Walter pasta. Provbably do the springbok tomorrow.
pr9, marinate, perhaps
thanks hurshy
Cool, I lag in that area and always quest for the perfect barbecue sauce.
But I love it all.... Never have had springbok, I must admit.
before the football/baseball/basketball se6
The perfect BBQ sauce is homemade.....;-)
I had springbok tacos the other day ..
Springbok is like tender, not-gamey venison but has its own flavor. It's really lovely. They started farming them in Germany a while back andnow they are a seasonal treat here. And of course the perfect bb sauce is home made; I should have specified I quest for the perfect combination of recipe and preparation. OK -- Must now get back on with dinner. Have fun folks, catch you in a while after Walter's bedtime!
I made Beef Wellington for Christmas dinner this year
byee Monkey!
one of my college classmates wrote an original song for our graduation ceremony - every year the class votes on a class musician to do this - and it was a very poignant song about moving in circles, too. because it was a top college and the song was about a son who gets into this elite world and how that can sort of distance him from his mom and other people... "...he moves in circles... that she never will understand..."
can one write an unoriginal song?
and what was really odd to me was that it was this kind of critique, or just looking at the downside of what everyone always talks about as a purely wonderful place, and after the song, the president just thanked him heartily and didn't really give any indication that he had noticed what the song was about
yes, definitely ata, my dad does it all the time :) he "wrote" row, row, row your boat and numerous other songs when we were kids
LOL :_
:) even!
Hi Atalante
My son is 4th yr English / Philosophy and I think my husband is feeling abit out of sorts about it.
My hubby has only a grade 11 education and sometimes feels intimidated(?) by our son's new views and ideas.
my dad always felt that way about my mom, i think, but it was silly because he was just as SMART, he just didn't have the chance to go to college.
Children can be pains in the neck, sometimes.
absolutely
One day an army of locusts swarmed out of the north and swept over the land devouring everything in their path. Some know what we have lost -- whole years of your lives to the locusts — to fear, and anger, and depression, and desperation.
the years the locusts have eaten...
My son does not act superior, but when they have discussions about things, his Dad can't BS like he used to a get away with it.
A promise too: I will restore to you the years the locusts have eaten.
But yes my son can be a pain in the neck. He borrows my car and doesn't bring it back for hoursssssssss.
my father still tries to tell me about marine biology when he never studied biology and I have a degree in it. It's highly amusing
Well, I suppose you can take the Pollyanna view and be glad that he has something to show for his education. Who's paying for it, though?
He's is mostly supporting himself. I kick in some groceries once in a while.
That's a shame. I hoped you could feel all superior for having paid his way through college.
lol
I paid his first year only.
Most children when 21 can't believe how stupid their parents are, and are amazed at 24 how much they learned in 3 years
Good evening al......... BR I have just read your bio and it has given me inspiration for 2009, thank you
There you go! Cast up that first year of educational wonderment to him the next time he tries to win an argument.
and then they get a PhD and are smug for life :P
good day, caitlyn
as you prove daily :)
bubba - I have a 24 year old and a 21 year old daughter. I'm waiting for the younger one to realise that we are always right.
lol
Hello caitlyn.
this is why i have cats instead of kids
the question of superiority never arises
They learn that when they become parents Haz
They're a lot less expensive as well, hurshy.
it is biblical: Honor thy father and mother
it is clearly understood by us all that they are far superior
absolutely LOL
We have tealady at work who lives with extended family which includes lots of teenagers and early 20's. She says they constantly remind the adults about the difference in educations. Her answer is "if you are so much cleverer than us - how come we are always fixing your mess-ups".
Babble, I am going to copy your advice and read it in Jan when I am in a better frame of mind. If you read my bio, you will see that 2008 has been the worst year of my life and I am still reeling.
It's funny, husband was regretting that neither of our parents are still alive to bestow the secrets of parenting upon us.
Very true ursh
I'm not surprised that you're reeling, python, I'm amazed that you're still standing.
but what's equally amazing is when you grow up *+(from a child) and discuss something with your parents and they actually listen and agree that you have a valid view
may you find peace and feel the strength of your maker
((((((((pythonx))))))))) You have had the worst time ,Im so sorry for your loses
pythonx - and I thought I had a bad year - well done for still being vaguely sane
thanks everyone.
And python, don't expect to feel better for a long time. That's not to depress you, it's just to acknowledge that you've had huge traumas and you need time.
And can I sympathise as well.
ok, i'm sure this won't really be any consolation, python, but it's very agatha christie for your nephew to be orphaned and go to live with his aunt...
yes, Haz, i know it will take time. I am truly in the sandwich position now, as I have children to care for and parents who are devastated.
How old is your nephew pythonx?
And meanwhile, you have to be strong.
He is 17 and is holding up remarkably well.
What ages are your own children?
I am blessed to have a good husband, who didn't think twice about taking my nephew in. There was never any question in his mind.
when you do what you can, there is nothing more to do
That's lovely, python, your nephew will need a father figure.
Im sure you are helping him cope but as Haz said you must have some time to grieve as well as caring for your parents and your nephew.they are the ones who are blessed to have you
My son is 24 and my daughter is 20. My daughter has been sick for most of the past year as well but is showing improvement. Hopefully her health challenges will be sorted out in the next few months.
There's a bit of an age gap, but not a huge one. Hopefully your children can help to make your nephew feel wanted and supported. (I take everything back about children being a pain in the neck)
My kids have been great. My daughter mothered him on his first night with us, making sure he had enough blankets, was comfortable, etc.. My son and nephew have always been close.
Do you mind me asking if your brother in law was ill also, dont answer if you dont want to
He had long term health issues. But none of them were incurable. He basically refused to care for himself and follow Dr's advice. So he didn't need to die.
That makes me angry.
Some men can be a pain in the neck.
So sad python
But in another sense, we feel that his son may have spent years taking care of him. Now he will have a better life without that weight. (Cruel thought? I don't know.)
Not cruel true
hello all, help with sa6's pls
It has happened, and you're all going to have to make the best of a horrible situation. Don't try to look too far into the future because it will seem awfully bleak at this point. Get through today as best you can.
I plan on joining a grief recovery group as soon as things settle down. We are still in the process of emptying the house and moving my nephew things. Once school starts again and we have some routhing.
*routine*
((((((((pythonx))))))))
Hi peri
Thanks everyone for listening. **We now return your chatlog to is regularly scheduled program."

thank you BR

Hey Madi...how are ya?

good clue BR
hello all, back to find my last 42 words
glad you arrived home safely, kje, sorry about your car
who killed your car kje?
afternoon all
well, my last car committed suicide... so hopefully this one just attempted it
hi feather
Hi again. I can't BELIEVE it! SInce I went toget the bakfiets and then took the dog for her run back to back I have returned home to a well-heated house and changed into other not frozen clothes and cooked and eaten dinner and ut Walter to bed and i am STILL really cold! At least I can feel all my toes now. And here I am for a few minutes...
weed!!!
heloo again. i had to dive in for a moment
97 left here
you didn't put a DNR order on it did you?
Hi Madi!
272 left here. is this one manageable with a migraine?
no, honest, weed... though I have one for myself : )
Hi phae!
hi madi
it is not bad yet, weed... but maybe you should go lie down instead... so sorry
hi feather
i'm actually not a bit sleepy, sadly. boys are napping, laundry is ..er..laundrying, and here i am. it's actually a ton better than this morning.
did you take something?
twice now.
what?
Glad to hear thst at least, Feather. I was thinking about you.
(i am nosy : )
at least the boys are sleeping.
doug took daniel to the mcdonald's indoor playground, so that helped, i only had nick wandering around, and he's a lot quieter. they brought back fries and coke for me, which oddly always helps.
tylenol. once at 6am, then again at 10.
welcome back kje! sorry about your car..
that is all??? for a migraine??? what's the deal, are you preggers or something?
ahoy aloy! me too : (
no, but i guess i'm so used to either being pregnant or nursing, that i've never gotten a prescription for anything else.
but it does give me time to babble while i wait for my bro
at least take some motrin... try 800 mg (that is 200 mg x 4)
ibuprofem
ibuprofen
st 6 -- add the capital of Mongolia: Ulan B****. pl
you know that pain scale they ask you about? this morning it was about an 8, then died down to a 6, and now it's about a 3.
the capital of mongolia... LOL... you say that so easily!
feather - fries always help me when I'm feeling travel sick, and I mean majorly travel sick which for me is pretty similar to a migraine
not a fan of the scale
so now as long as i can keep on it, i should be ok
why not? because of how subjective it is?
i swear, mcd's must have some miracle drug in their fries.
Danny gets good results from one I suddenly can't think of the name of. I will ask him when he comes down. First one that has helped at all. But probably expensive in th US. Hang on though, lemme see if I can recall what it's called...
ibuprofen works great for earaches, but not headaches for me. i have to take excedrin migrane to get mine to go away
I absolutely swear by fries for nausea!
i'm going to gain about 5 pounds today because i've been nibbling all day trying to keep myself from getting hungry, which makes it worse.
Here it is. Maxalt. http://www.healthcentral.com/migraine/ find-drug-1116-150.html
I love McDonalds fries
Ritz crackers are great for nausea too.
thanks monkey
not the subjectivity... pain IS subjective... but because it tells me nothing about the etiology ... i hate it when my students say, but it is a 6/10 pain! like that means something... all it means is they need some pain med, doesn't help with diagnosis at all
rallys fries are my favorite
how about the U of Florida nickname: ali******
what is etiology?
maxalt is prescription
you mean define it?
yeah, it's a new term to me
Yes. Didn't know we were limitying this to OTC.
etiology means cause of or origin of
ah, ok, thanks!
yes, what is the etiology of etiology :)
God?
LOL ata - knock that off
when I have a migraine, I find a slurpee always works - brain freeze constricts the veins in the brain
karma?
...just my 2 cents...
30 to go!
help with any of the re7's please
actually raelite that is an excellent thought
thanks, kje
interesting rae, i'll have to remember that
ice cream works too, but I'm usually too nauseous for dairy
ok, diving in
it is the same reason caffeine is in so many of the migraine preps
re7 * cuff surgery
hello all
oops that's ro7 :)
do you mean ro7 harry
It is! I will also be mentioning it to Danny. It'll have to be a shake though; no slushies/slurpees here.
re7 cries again :)
guess i have missed some of the headache talk...<whew> being a neurologist...lol
caffeine is kind of dehydrating - for me, anyway - so a grape slurpee works well despite the calories
sn 5 -- a quantity of alcohol sn 7 --- one imbibing;pl company
thanks Harry
now you would think i would get that quantity of alcohol right away.... but noooooooooooooo
re7 puts in his chair again
Excedrin migraine works wonders, i give that to my patients first line (unless motrin works)
thanks Harry
re7 attempts again
re7 keys in again
are these just random re clues?
well, i've been sucking down cokes and tylenol today, which is 2/3 of excedrin migraine!
howdee and afternoon, all
re 6 -- lachrymal liquid; pl
unfortunately NSAIDS are verboten for me so I had to come up with a more creative remedy
peri wanted re7 clues
shhhh kje, let him go!
jnr - where do you work?
LOL weed
JNR, maxalt leaves my husband pain-reduced but still in bed and feeling the weirder migraine effects and the nausea. Can you suggest another one he might discuss with our doctor? Imigran already failed on him...
yup...now get some bayer, and you are good to go lol
tx

I'll tell him to suggest it. Thes other ones-- the reglan and all-- are they for use with or instead of teh maxalt? Or if he gets a scrip of course we can ask and or look it up.

I have 30 left also, but I am in no hurry to finish. I've beem here off and on all day since 9:00 this morning.

nader's main thrust is that corporations are running the country. in that context his comment relates to obama being a servant of corporations. that would be bad no matter what color he is. (nader's "colored" also, btw)

Now I'm bored. Bosses are off, so no work for me. *twiddles thumbs*
How's the bird, Ata?
Isn't it cocktail hour by now, Judi?
Wordsplay is good
he's been released!
It's always cocktail hour somewhere, jimmel!
did they find out what was wrong with him?
*singing to Ata* BORN FREE.... AS FREE AS THE WIND BLOWS...
noooo ... they couldn't find anything obvious, no breaks, no bleeding. they think he had just got too cold and too shocked and just needed some chill time to recover and build his strength
aww...we all need some spoiling at times
That's good news, Ata. Now he's free to go back to the shore and pooh on the tourists.
he was in the vets for 4 days, just sitting on his little heated pad and getting good food
what was really funny is that all the vet nurses absolutely fell in love with him - most gulls are evil litle buggers, this one (probably cos of the shock!) was so docile and "friendly"
Awww. He knew they were trying to help him. The little mooch.
Hi again briefly! Just watched QI-- the new Dutch one! First episode. The Dutch have bought syndication rights. They did a pretty good job considering none of the panel members had the faintest idea what was going on. We will watch again.
QI is fab
yep! an intelligent member of the gull family!
Yes, we adore it deeply. Thus we were most interested in what the Dutch would do with it.
Que, QI?
It isn't as good but this was episode 1, they don't have a Dutch Stephen Fry (should maybe have used Freek de Jong...), and all that.
QI, Judi, is a hilarious and highly intelligent sort of anti panel show.
its a quiz show where you get more points for being interesting and intelligent rather than being right
d for correct answers and creative answers and funny ones, independently. The questuoins are fascinatiung, the show is highly intelectual, I seriously recommend it.
Ah. As far as I know, we don't have that on this side of the pond yet.
highly intellectual occasionally, very amusing always
there;s a lot of QI on youtube, judi
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q.I.
We do have "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" though. Phoenetically, the closest I could find.
Will check it out on Youtube when I get home. Can't access streaming videos here at work. State ISP nazis don't allow.
just a bit different :P
what was that UK radio show that went for years and years, sounds similar, always hilarious
The utch did a good job. You should have seen the look on one woman's face when this guy scored all kinds of points for this long and bizzarre story about how seeing eye dogs leave blind people at strageic points during training and then when they here Greg or Sally yelling, they knoiw they're in the Cathedral district or whatever...
its brilliant. Stephen Fry, the host, is one of the funniest and cleverest men we have on UK
tv
I'm sorry I HAven't a Clue, Lynnn.
Seriously that's the one you mean.
yes that one!
Going to search for QI. See you kids tomorrow!
Radio 5. Side splitting! As well as Just a Minute.
the really intellectual quiz show we have is University Challenge
Bye Judi!
Ata, this one guy just fell right into the Alan Davis position, too, it was hysterical.
Yes that's it! TY MG
Alan is quite brilliant
Just kept saying the obvious, being bashful but crude, ended up last with -25 points... whoever chose this first panel clearly gets the show.
far cleverer than he makes out
Oh yes, I love the man!
do they have all the amusing buzzer noises?
This other Dutch guy was too. He just fell right into the role brilliantly. Yes, very odd buzzer noises. I was impressed. The rights were clearly bought by a fan with great English skills.
You couldn't possibly follow QI in the original with poor English skills, I mean.
was it made by Endymion?
Sprite would like it... must remember to tell her that.
I think it was Endemol, but I'll look that up for you.
endemol that's it!
I got it wrong
yes, that's a UK / Netherlands TV company
the normal way of working is bringing Neth progs over here, but someone must have started working the other way too
Ah, so easy crossover! Anyway, they did it right. We were scared-- but although not as good as the original thing it was really fun.
Endemol is responsible for Big Brother etc
Yeah, most peoplke don't beliveme that teh Dutch invented Big Brother...
Been here almost 16 years now.
so the dutch are responsible !!
yeah .... and endemol still produces our Big Brother series. I think they are a Dutch company but have been working in the UK for years
yes, they are!
Sorry Lynxxx. It was even after I moved here. But in my defense I wasn't a citizen yet. Couldn't even vote.
Endemol is very trendy and we don't watch a lot of their stuff.
you might want to start if they are doing stuff like QI now!
Yeah, if this reflects some internal shift in intellectitude we may become frequent viewers!
We keep an eye on TV... we have a 4 year old and get tired in the evenings, if I start reading during school terms I never do anything else at all (get the degree next month!), we tend to try to just watch decent stuff of an evening these days. But there's usuuallys uch crap on! But we keep an eye.
OK, got to go-- some crap is coming on! Have fun all!
down to 17, still missing those 8's! BBL after walk etc. Bye for now

that tion is just not quite in the right place
ar6/18 is the next for me - can you clue the last 94???:)
ar6 is comedian hall, minus a vowel
(though I don't think he's very funny)
he isn't very funny to me either but thanks
we have a Harry Hall ... but that's not much use LOL
oh wait, he's Harry Hill. even less use!
oh I love the to8!
ata it's * and old lace, minus the last 2 vowels, tack on a different vowel
I've got the word, I'm just intrigued about the comedian now :)
my Q is why can't you pluralize the ro8,50 and get an ro10?
ata he was in that eddie murphy movie coming to america, I think, and then he had an ill-fated talk show in the us
when I get the ro8/50, I'll tell you :P
or at least attempt to tell you LOL. or guess. or blame enable
Me too. I didn't realize he was a comedian. I thought he was just one step up from Jerry Springer! Sorry I came out of lurking. I have a really bad head cold and I just finished reading Cat's Eye. I feel all cottony in the head!
Cat's Eye Margaret Atwood?
hi ata and harry - and storyteller - finished earlier, stopping in to say hi
hallo
gotta run - kids are restless
later!
hi JBV!
hi everyone, are we all ready for 2009? Yes, Margaret Atwood
great book
I love Atwood - Cat's Eye was amazing -
Did you read, Penelopiad? I think I liked it better. I love the twist at the end.
I LOVED the Penelopiad
yes, that too, and the Handmaid's Tale
the best of the series of retold myths, though Jeanette Winterson's were good too
me. to Ata. oops, I still have mt santa up.
I think my favourite is Alias Grace. And then the Penelopiad
what figures did J.W. write about? Is Alias Grace, Atwood? I tried reading her before and couldn't get through it, I think It wass The Handmaid's Tale. But after these I am going to look into her other books.
Alias Grace is Atwood, yes. The Handmaid;s Tale is *very* different from her "other" books. If you loved Cats Eye, you'll love Alias Grace, Blind Assassin etc
Thanks, I will look. Off to change my icon.
JW's myth book is Atlas and Hercules. It's called Weight
Hello again, everyone!
Back for another go at this one
hi BB
hello friends, we are home. finally.
hi stidy!

they couldn't find anything wrong with him, they think he was just exhausted / shocked / too cold. so a few days of warmth and good food seemed to do the trick
you can make a 9 out of that or6
ah, that is good. I know how he felt... it was pretty cold, and windy and exhausting to be in victoria, too! LOL
should be: emo****s
Is the rescued avian the one in your avatar, ata?
okay, gotta run. glad to see you all, and back when I can. *poof*
its been so so cold here this last week, hasn't risen above freezing at all
speaking of rescues - the foster hound who escaped from our yard before Christmas was found Saturday night, 2 miles upstream from our house
yep :) he was soooo cute

Thanks! I am just getting over a bout with some crud, myself!
Poor, Liz. Me too. I haven't been able to talk for days. My husband is happy
I have found one huge advantage to having flu over the holidays....
no cooking?
lol story
it meant I was in such a blur that even my mother in law didn't wind me up for once
woohoo!
ATA! Shame on you! I never cook! (Well not if I can help it lol)
LOL true :) So what did Oscarmonster steal over Christmas? Let's have the list
Actually as far as I'm aware he didn't nick anything - on the other hand I have been so drugged he could have eaten the entire house for all I know!
just watch out for things that should be there over the next few weeks .... he's bound to have taken advantage of your drugged state!
scrolling back - hugs back to you stid, thank you - all is well here, patient is doing very well
*giggle* I dread to think...he did get a new toy which he loved - how about Hobbit? Has she had treats?
oh yes. and she caught a mole to celebrate on Christmas Day
i'm doing a few other things right now - so I'm in and out, but I can clue if anyone needs anything
A Mole!!! OMG!
can't find any on that bottom e
all my spaniels have been molers! I don't know how they do it!
bottom e - all ey's - 5 of them
Scully wouldn't have ever met one since we don't have them here but Sasha's nickname was Moley
awwwwwww
ty jbv, got a couple
if you have Bronte's Jane, then just change the last vowel for a different vowel, and plural that

I absolutely exhausted Hobbit today, Liz. We were on the beach for about 3 hours. I had to help her up into the car and she's slept ever since!
How does one determine the length of the word needed?
I know I need more p words
don't know how to tell you which ones
lickety splickety
Ah bless her Ata. Oscar would love to be out more this week but since we've all been laid up he's had to make do with just a few short trots every day.
awwwwwww
As soon as I'm up to it I've promised him a beach day with my new camera :)
he'll looooove that
Do you let Hobbit swim at this time of year?
hobbit? swim? I've only once ever seen her get her little tippy-toes off the floor! she - um - wades. LOL. But yes, I keep towels and warm stuff in the car for her
LOL not your average spaniel then!
um - can someone explain lickety to BB - I'm no use, I don't use it
couple of the p's use a y-x combp
combo i mean
it took her till about 4 or 5 to actually dare go in the water!
I worry about Os going in the sea when its so cold. Its about a 20 minute walk hom from the beach before I can get him in the warm again
sorry I dont use the list anymore but Beach you can find a link to it at the bottom of this page - Licketys Babble Clues
whenever I'm near water with her, I'm never that far from my car, so it's not so bad. she has been shivery once or twice on the way home though, but I keep fleeces and towels and rugs in the car always, for both me and her!
lickety gives you the first two letters of a word, and its point value, allowing you to try to get the word more easily
words that have plurals, superlatives, etc, are paired together.
I guess the walk home keeps Ossie warm but I wonder how much good it does him when he's had a cruciate op done already. Can't keep him out of the sea when we're there though.
hi all...here for about 15-20 minutes...how is everyone?
no, its not worth it the angst! maybe take a towel / dog coat with you?
it is considered bad form on here to go to the list before the halfway point, but don't worry about it
Hi Pini

or at least a neoprene thingy to wrap round the cruciates etc. something to keep the joints warm
doing good today, got all the 8's i do have by my lonesome
Ah but Ata isn't it always the case - sods law and all that! Like the time I walked him in my pyjamas thinking I could get away with it and yet that morning was the one morning.....

getting better
yeah .... sod's law always happens with dogs
2 8 and 1 9 for me

down to 99--think i'll get off for a bit and clear my head
8's I have are: po, ro, ro, sn, to
must be possible - velcro on some straps. that would keep the joints nice and warm! and wouldn't even matter if they got wet or anything
and or9 - what am I still missing?
I'll give it a try Ata and if it works I'll t him to model them for you!
What ! I cant have taser???

Squirrels are ra4's with bushy tails and skunks ain't cute either!:-(
Hi Jacula. How is Margaret doing?
They have Indian squirrels in Australia, which look better than our American grey ones
No Inge I don't want either
so7, clue?
Wondering whether to don my headphones and listen to the Aretha Franklin cd I got from poor old, dying Woolworths - so sad to see them go - and chat to you lot, or if I should go to bed. Not tired really, after an early night last night.
ro 7/28, please?
Indian Squirels are found in Perth. They escaped from a zoo
I adore my squirrel friends, espceially the smaller red squirrels.
can i have a clue for the re8?
hi, jac
nm
Ok this is sad. I have just got NYE 09 -10 sorted
both so7's are plurals
I read that Woolworth's was closing over there. Ours has been closed for some years now. I miss them
Woolworth is pulling out of GB???
ro7...cuff in your shoulder
Scrabbs - that was about me (the cd thing) not Margaret. LOL. I saw your message after. She's all healed up and putting on weight, Scrabbs but the stitche are still there. Should I remove them?

No Woolworth's around here in 15-20 yrs.
clue for the ro8's?
inge - Woolworths has gone into administration over here.
just not here, Aknitter :(
Last Woolworth I saw was in Germany along the Swiss border
administration? is that like bankruptcy?
gee i loved woolworths. it was the center of social activity on our main street. everyone hung there - mom's getting coffe after sending the kids off, and kids going for ice cream after school.
ro8 words have to do with spinning around in circles.
Woolworth's in S. Africa is high-end...unlike old five and dime stores in U.S. I remember
aknitter - yes.
ro8= ro7 + plural
ro8= ro7 + sometimes vowel
All our Safeways are becoming Wollies but we don['t ahve wollies clothing stuff store
we had several five and dime stores here. Ben Franklin's was a great one as well
back ...
yes, Mom...so fun to see all the merchandise!
My first job was in a 5 & dime store for 65 Cents an hur

Herin - our Safeway stores were taken over by Morrisons about 4 or 5 years ago.
Jimmel, I miss those stores. They had some of the neatest stuff
Dolllar Stores don't quite cut the nostalgic piece!

bye bye Inge
I feel very sad for my friend in Wales who has worked as a shopgirl and manager in Woolies for about 27 years. She was widowed last year (her hubby had a long and painful fight against bone cancer). Her job was what was keeping her spirit going. Now her job is gone.
Wow Jac
Still need one more 8...po; re; rox2; sn; ?
oh Jacula, that is so sad.
jimmel - that's the thing I remember about Woolies from my childhood - the creaking wooden floors.:-)
yep! And do you remember any stores that used the vacuum tubes to send things to another floor? (like drive-thru banks have now)
:-(
Hi everyone! Phae, list is in my profile if you need it.
jimmel i only remember them at the courthouse.
yes, Jimmel, I remember those
Yes, we had one of those in Danbury, CT
so 7/28, the first?
jimmel - yes the Co-op did that and so did Argos when they first began.
they would send the money and a receipt to the office and they would send the change back

my mom drove off the road in a snowstorm the Saturday before Christmas, but she was not injured, so my holiday was made in that one non-event
How did you break whatever you broke, nrkii?
Scary, nrk
thank goodness I can shave, but I ask you, how do you shave and wash your left armpit with your left arm?
it was good, but i could not wait to get home to my dad's consternation. it seems he was aling so did not want to come here, and I was ailing so did not want to stay there.
Geez Nr glad she is ok

herein, our bank wsa recently gobbled up by another. all of the ATM's speak in an aussie accent!!!!!
oooh that's kinda cool
That is wrong. I personally hate our accent
I need a bunch of RE's!
fyi: opry does not work
Nowt wrong with Aussie accent, Herin!
no offense but it's like nails on a blackn=board - at least this chick is.
I don't sound like that
as in Grand Ol', weed?
it's just bizaare.
yep.
;)
what about the ERs lol
er = bird
i like our new ATMs at my bank, no more envelopes and deposit slips - you just stick in your check and it scans it and a computer reads the amount (got my grandma's handwriting right), or cash and it somehow knows what denomination the bills are, and they can be all crumply, not like with vending machines... it's amazing
wee, down to 91! help with the first pe6/21 please?
can't find first ri5
pls the pe4 before it, weed
that is cool hursh
The NZ accent is harsher, I think. More like the South African in it's vowel pronunciations, i.e. that = thet, black = bleck etc.
like the re 5 with a I
feather, take a kind of showy flower and remove an i
ty hursh
psst: http://tinyurl.com/8c8v6v THis is me and what i sound like
Sorry about the greengrocers' aphostrophe in that last post!
well i don't know exactly what accent this is but wouldn't you find it strange jacs if your ATM spoke american english to you?
jac - I need the first three te;s on the list and lady I am SO impressed that you aren't using the list! Since I found out about it a couple of days ago it is my crutch (plus monkeying and asking for millions of clues)
um, still can't find it
1st re6/18 plz?
(after backsides)
hee, that was cute herin
hi ruru
LOL, Herin. Nice to see you all there.
Well I don't think i sound like an Ossie
wow, these PEs are giving me a hard time. pe5/12 after the sounds like a flower one?
THat was last year
TO - I'd find it very strange if my ATM spoke at all! (Ours don't.) I wouldn't be surprised if it had an American accent if it did speak, though.
father in french + a vowell
pe + nuclear ***ction
We're used to you 'Yanks' Over Here. LOL.
ty ruru
or what ruru said
this is the first one i used that spoke. i find it oddly disturbing.
still holding out for that 1st re6/18
One of my American friends wanted to see what i looked like and hear what i sounded like
what i want in a atm is to prcoess quickly so as not to be a crime target.
what abt the first re5
Pinikula-do you have a good re**** for asking for a clue?
re5 = pt of the re4 before it
jili - ****** for the se6/18
UGH! should have known, thx scribe
You sound like an Aussie to me, Herin!

fireworks
oh, speaking of crime
yay phae!
What is 'the 'list' ?
I'm not au fait with the the various Aussie accents, Herin, so can't comment. However, Beloved and I got so fed up with people confusing our accents (UK ones) that I had tee-shirts printed for us. His says 'Yam-Yam' and mine says 'Brummie'.
christine, look bottom left, friends of babble, lickety's clue list
could I have a clue for the second to last pe 6/21
ruru - French father + not off.
add a vowel between the last 2 vowels, ruru
sorry ru, that's in my string of missing PE words
when i was driving up to the bank, i saw this SUV also drive up. it went right over a foot-wide curb-thing dividing the parking lots, which i was like, hmm, odd. and then i saw the driver get out and run quickly into the ATM vestibule
how about the pe6/21 above that please?
then i saw that the front left corner of the SUV was banged up, and the engine had been left running
first ri5 pleeeeeeeeeeese
got it!
I need the pe 6/21 after that one
ruru, do you have the pe6/21 that ends with 3 vowels?
an old man in another car honked and indicated - maybe just to say, hey, you left your car running? - i don't know
feather - French father + 2 vowels.
not the pe*** brady and pl
ri + the first part of the sunken Island Smiles
:) thanks jac, beatcha
The 1st ri5/10 word is lariot or a lasso smilesoplenty.
but the driver waited his turn behind another lady in the ATM, and spoke pleasantly to me when i was behind him.
hurshy - i had a friend who saw someone being robbed with a gun in broad daylight at atm
I need teh pe 6/21 above Pete
Last pe6/21 means tails off, or try plural saint who greets you at the Pearly Gates.
that's the one someone clued as father and not off
so i can't decide if he may have committed grand theft auto or a hit-and-run, or if he just is a careless and rushed person
ok, my last pe, the pe7 please
that was it thanks
ruru - I've clued that one. French father + 'not off'.
pe7 = French father + charged particle.
phew, thanks! pe's are done
backfor more torture.... tough grid when you are spacey and watching BB King ....
pe 7/32: pe + anagram of a constellation featherbee.
that was a rough patch
sigh. We just got $100 added to a fine for it to sit about. I told him organise it by monday or ill be cranky
still don't get the ri5
Watching BBKing, Pam? I'm glad I concentrated on chatting and clueing and not listening to Aretha now. BB would have had same effect.
smiles: you may want to try a word list like a to z or morewords then
Kennedy Center honors. Morgan Freeman is a Blues Man, so they had Cocoa Taylor and some others, then BB King....
ba dum ba dum... I got the blues..
smiles - ri5/10 (1st) = 'river' + childish thankyou.
lol,ru
i love morgan freeman. he could read me the stock market report as a bedtime story and i'd be happy.
ri + **lanta, GA + first vowel
ri5 (2nd) = civil unrest demos.
8-), feather
feather _ I feel like that about Vincent Price's voice.
is the pr6/21 a fishy one?
Best horror voice ever, old Vince!
Lily Tomlin.....

Jac once a week have an Apocolyps week.
hi autumn
any clues for the to8, please?
py help? jac, i saw your clue about the big tile, but can't see how it fits in! i have the py4
We have one big cupboard with most of the food in it...
A paintbrush (about 2" wide) is brilliant for cleaning blinds.
py = fairy (mispelled)
ahh, ty
py 5/26 has to do with fairies and uses high point tile
nm-just monkeyed the to8
feather - you know those little fairy people? You can spell than another way, using the sometimes vowel.
pyn6/42 is the plural of the py 5/26 word featherbee
py5= py + pi*** sticks (candy)
Jac these are fabric blinds COVERED in fur
Actually, it's an evergreen shrub name and plural.

Seriously there is white fur all over them

Anyone know if the sequel's been made yet? Moview bombed in the US, so no more funds, apparently.:(
No, TO.

No TO
i think i might like that one except for tom cruise
or9 = what the or6 does
or6 + three letter plural
lbd and pink - Since I've not read the book (The Northern Lights), I can't comment. I always prefer the books to the films though.
my dilemma, a friend wants to do dinner aand a movie tomorrow and of all the films out now she wants to see valkyrie and i HATE tom cruise
Pam, or6.18 + many mov**** are being discussed right now.

or6= a speaker (formal)
we are considering eating together and splitting up for the movie. a movie is a real treat for me and tho i want to be social i so HATE tome cruise and i'm sure he layed with the truth for this one
Also, some of the animatronics are not convincing. However, I find that in a lot of films these days.
