The rain even from just tropical storms can be really damaging. and hard to drive in, but...it doesnt hang around.
some of the states like Michigan, Alaska, Wisconsin, etc are used to dealing with the snow and handle it better than we do in the Midwest. We like to think we know how to handle it, but we sure panic whenever we get a few inches or more.
This is true, when I lived in NY, clear roads were never an issue.

They put in a massive concrete liner, then a giant metal trash bin that fits in there neatly and has a small box on the top with a rolly hatch. You put your resident card on the scanner and the hatch unlocks, put the trash bag in the aperture, close the hatch, and the trash drops into the bin. Onve a week a big truck comes and uses a hook to picke the whole bin up, hold it over the truck, and open the bottom. Then they put it back in the ground.

we got the ice layer with no additional snow..someone was supposed to "snow throw" our driveway but the machine kept getting clogged from the heavy, soggy snow..had to do it the hard hard way

blue, the reason DW is the greatest TV show ever made is that the formula allows for easy adding and subtracting of primary actors. You have to expect it. And yes, I know it's hard, but it's also part of the fun, getting a new companion and stuff

I see what you mean, herin -- several books by Philip Wylie. I remember hearing about A Generation of Vipers but didn't read it. Must investigate but I seem to remember it was bitter and unpleasant.
