corih, we kept them cooped up for 3 days, then let them out for periods of 3 hours... locked up for 1 hour, then out for 3 hours etc.... They have laying/hay boxes and roosts for comfort, and the food is hanging in the coop. Now, at sunset, they automatically go into the coop and we lock them in.

We have our next door chickens that wander through our yard, on a route everyday. I always wondered if they were smart enough to get back to their coop at night
the chickens are very aware that they are protected in the coop at night... so they go in there to relax! We have hay filled boxes for them and they sleep side by side for warmth.

there are so many pronunciation exceptions because we had borrowed words that became a part of the english language back in the 1500's where it was à la mode to say french words in daily speech. Hence today we have 50% of our words derive from french
