there was a chipotle chowder to start, then various salad makings, then a halibut and mussels dish, a chicken and artichoke one, a tender beef stew, rosemary mashed potatoes, basmati rice, cauliflower cheese, mixed beans...many desserts -- rhubarb crumble, English trifle (but not enough sherry in it), pecan pie, cheesecake, chocolate cake, fruit salad, and so on...
oh, and a nice BC Shiraz
and now, fireworks :-D

elder, vacuuming is the worst you can do to your back! You really need somebody to do it for you. There is no way to vacuum carefully enough, and believe me, I have tried!
no she lives in the netherlands, just as I. Only 25 minute's drive from here.
Unless I get the government expenses I cannot pay some one and as I live on my own I have to do it occasionally.

Hi everyone. I am falling asleep over my keyboard and got to be up in 6½ hours but this little blighter of a grid has had me monkeying a 4 letter C word for ages. Made a drink, fed the cats, came back to the blessed C word and still no idea. I can hear snoring from him indoors who sensibly went to bed and now the dog is snoring. Torg - if I told you, you wouldn't believe me! Instead, I'll tell you that the changeable weather has had us running between two large tasks - the garden and sorting out the attic.

Thougt you would. It's true. We've had lots of weather here in the past few days.
Fortunately I don't have an attic .. But I have a garage that needs sorted ..
Sorted = 90% of crap needs to be thrown out ..
I sorted my garage by turning it into two rooms instead, Torg. A utility room and a study. Thing is, I now have 2 rooms that need a good sort out.
I'm not sure it's 90% but it is most of the stuff.
My garage is trying to be too many things .. Storage area, Landlord's storage area, music studio, mechanic's shop, laundry room ..
Basic rule - if you haven't used/worn/looked at it/used it or loved in the past 12 months you probably don't need to keep it - live things included. LOL
Torg - garages have a habit of doing that. I think it's a roomality disorder. Probably needing therapy.

I don't know .. I could jettison half a house full of stuff and live just fine ..

Could, yes. But mostly it's about that not quite triangular piece of wood you just chucked out. Oh, now I remember! It was the perfect size and shape to fix the rotten corner on the shed.
And why did I thing this piece of tangerine nylon material was useful? Oh yes! It was for the fairy costume in the school play. But your kid's are grown up now. I know that, but last time I had a sort out and left it there, I thought it might come in useful for same thing when the grandchildren come along.
*Sigh* Far too much junk in my house!
But a person is something that fits the rotten corner of the shed, and the funky burner on the stove, and the lumpy half of the mattress, and the picture that won't hang strait, and the B string that won't stay in tune, and the shoes that pinch the smallest toe ..
I will be really glad once we've cleared it all out. I'm sure my brain will feel younger and clearer. I've no idea at what age I became a hoarder, but it's a habit I hope to grow out of.

Actually, I think I've been a hoarder most of my life; legacy of being born 12 years after WW2 and parents and grandparents (WW! and 2) who had to make tdo and mend etc. The original greenies.
II've recycled stuff all my life and was delighted when it 'came into fashion' recently, until I realised that many of the councils who claim to recycle just dump the stuff abroad.

Recycling tech has made great strides in last few years .. (I'm in the recycling business) a lot of stuff that was going overseas in the past is getting used locally ..
Tim and I have booths at two flea markets...we mostly find items for resale, especially collectible glassware...

I work for a company that builds recycling machinery .. Our parent company has a recycling facility ..
We went to our local dump/recycling centre today and the note by the gate stated they've recycled 75% of all waste in the past month. However that still means 25% wasn't recyclable.
Jellen - so you go to the auctions to find the glassware?
Our parent company took a huge hit recently .. We had a shipload of material ready to go to China, and they said "Ummm nope, not interested"
75% is good .. Alot of stuff is not recyclable ..

Glass is nearly worthless unless transportation is cheap .. Rubber and plastic are hard to recycle because they are changed chemically and it's herd to reuse them ..

If you are trying to reduce the inflamation you should alternate hot and cold (not too hot, because the cold wil desensitize your internal temp. guauge)

Apply 5 minutes of each every half hour until the swelling goes down (alternating hot and cold gets the blood flowing to the area)
little to no swelling...mostly a good bruising
