she is sad, west -- but they have had a good life together, and hospice is doing what they can... I am so sad for them.

I believe we all have reasons to live...some have greater insight as to how to share that with others, and some shouldn't have the blessing a child gives....sad commentary on the world we live in...
after Richard died my mother had a miscarriage a few years later
there is so much I truly will never understand. I do understand those who are severely tested yet get up and go on.

after all our sharing on this site...there aren't many ladies here I couldn't fathom having no compassion or empathy...that's why I feel great chatting...the sad commentary was the news of the mother who couldn't handle her own child and inflicted such cruelty as to cause his death...there are many reasons why death visits us..we are mortals, but as BR says, some can pick up and continue on..my grandmother lived another 50 years without her husband, persisting through cancers and illnesses herself...

mom said i was too yo9ung to remember that time but i do- vividly and have confirmed my memories with my older sisters. i was in the room when he died at home and remember the funeral and could still describe it 40 years later- sister said it was accurate.i have memories of events from when i was 2 years old.
sammysmom...have you sahred those with your own children..or written them down for later generations? best way to show the youngers what life really was like when technology wasn't to be had...

well, I was raised in a very strict religious home...the church was our family and on both my mom's and dad's sides, the grandparents started the churches we attended..my perspectives are all based on biblical teachings and understandings...a bit skewed for some, but I only know that...so the divorce was NEVER mentioned by anyone...I only remember a handful of times when I wished I had a father-figure around...
my aunt taught me to bake and cook...and at my grandmother's funeral I told her so...I wouldn't be alive if she hadn't taught me to survive...
i understand that- my grandmiothe4r and grandfather did not live together for many years . Nana waitet until my mother was old enough to understand before she divorced grampa- MY mother was 40-lol- those things were never discussed in our family either- a strict old new england clan

we decided to grow our own stuff this year as like you said it is so expensive for nice veg. As a guide a single plant will be happy in a 9 to 12 inch pot. Its never too late - start them off in small pots on a south facing window sill, Once the first pair of true leaves appear start taking them outside, then once they are big enough to handle transfer to a bigger pot.

i follow my dad's recipe for pickling - peel onions/shallots leave overnight in salted water, pickle in malt viengar with dried chillies and leave for at least 3 weeks but 5 is better and ones that are 18months old blow your socks off

we found some in the garage one year and they were great

Also keep them in a dark place. I tend to fill the jars, jiggle it all around with a knitting needle and then leave for a while and come back to check before i seal them. Old instant 200g coffee jars are a good size. No heat at all - some folks do stuff to the vinegar but i find that just makes the onions soggy

I drove upsidedown in a car once and it was scary as hell
i was driving in the left of two lanes on a busy road. this car made a right turn onto the road off a side street, but instead of turning into the right lane like a sane person, she turned all the way into the left lane, apparently without noticing that i was already using it.
well my complaints just sound totally whiny now. Always good to have a reality check.

this is my second serious car accident within two years. it is starting to feel like a habit and i am tired of it.
she did not drive away, last i saw her the police were talking to her on the other side of the road as i was being loaded into ambulance.
oh I had a dilly! Planned to go to the car dealer via ferry -- while on the boat realised I'd forgotten my purse. Had to turn around and go back to get the purse but had no money to pay the ferry fare. Was told I'd have to leave the car and go as a foot passenger, find someone to take me home. No cell phone (in my missing purse). No nearby friends. Then a guy I'd never seen before poked his head in and said he would pay my fare! What a wonderful surprise! I gave him my phone number and the gal at the ticket booth said ok, so I got on the ferry and got home. Then he phoned and said to send the cheque ($36!) to his mother in Ontario! I'll be posting this tale for the Sunday Grateful icon theme!
