very quiet chatline tonight
heavens, guess so! was gone for nearly an hour, and my last comment is only about a dozen below here!
hi everyone
Hello all - is it just me or is this grid quite difficult?
i have just started ursh so not up to giving anopinion yet
Good morning/evening all. Andree, how's the dusting going?
just about done, will find a few more dirty corners i am sure, hope it doesn't happen again for another 70 years
Hello Haz
Hello ursh.
i would have gone to the car wash but the lines there are about an hour long
I saw TV pictures last night, it looked very eery. Have you been given any guidance about what to do other than to get rid of it?
Those were some incredible pics we saw on the news about the dust storm Hello all.
the pool is a mess and unfortunatly the vaccumn is off getting fixed, apparently before vacumning one should spread allum on top of the water
Hello FM - yes, really red skies, like a red fog everywhere. It must have been disorientating.
Dust and water together - horrible!
it was so strange
Hi Haz and Andree LOL it would drive you mad HAz ;)
Yuk Andree - we have had to do the alum thing a few times after really bad rainstorms - pool goes chocolate with sand - lousy job
Dust? What's that? G'd morning Babblers!
hi fmitch
I'd be demented, FM.
Hi ursh Lori!!!!!!!!!!!
the worst job were the shutters
Hello Lori! Still working on getting that plane across to OZ for the big clean up?
lorip , all clean again, have spent all my spare time cleaning and hosing, just my car and the pool left
Did it not have health implications for people with chest conditions?
Poor Andree. :(
Andree love the puppy pic, hope you will all be very happy together (())
thx fmitch
The Puppy of Evil is indeed very cute. I know you'll be a great team Andree. :D
100's taken to hospital, my grandson is an asthmatic but he was kept inside and was okay
lol should have called him evil, a good name
I'm not surprised, Andree, about the people taken to hospital, glad your grandson is okay.
I know evil when i see it, and clearly that puppy is evil personified.
lol lorip
Evil can be anagrammed into vile. It makes you think, doesn't it?
As we all know dust gets everywhere but that must really have been the behemoth of dust !
hard to believe such a little innocent could cause such a fuss
Even Lori couldn't have ignored the housework if she lived in Ox :)
Personally, I'm launching a new Organization. People Rescue. I shall save narcissists from themselves. Give them a good home, try to have them touch reality once in awhile.
what we really need now is some really heavy rain, all we are getting is blue skies
*Oz even
FM, you greatly underestimate my ability to ignore housework.....
Sods Law Andree
Is there a Canadian version of How clean is your house?
LOL Haz
Move along Haz..... :p
Because if Kim and Aggie need somewhere to work their magic.... But you see where I'm going with this.
Andree, any rain in your forecast, or are you just wishing?
just wishing lori
Haz, I'm breakin' out in cold sweats. For the love of god, let this go.....
At the end of the day, Kim and Aggie give 110% in every house they visit.
Sorry to chat and run but must get on the phone, back in a while.
I do love those 2, it's a great show.
bye mitch
Bye FM. I'll be going to RDA soon.
Hurry abck FM!
we don't have it here
thank goodness
This grid is not revealing its words to me very easily. Gah
It's horrifying and fascinating all at the same time, Andree.
Why anyone would agree to be on that show, is beyond me. Some of them horrify even mygoodself.
I know. It's literally washing your dirty linen in public.
did anyone see the news about John travolta being blackmailed for 30 million
i need the middle column 'i' for nbt - any clues please
Mind you, you have to be amazed at what people are prepared to do and say on TV. Those family debate shows where people yell at each other - mind-boggling.
There's a show in the US called "Clean Sweep". People have hoards of stuff in rooms, some of it new and unopened, and the team comes and organizes them.
I'd be embarassed to be on that show was well. To have that much stuff? Going to wast, not being used. Sometimes the excess is amazing.
in4/4 - babblet
Yes Andree, isn't that despicable?
ty haz will look
we have one here called lush house, shannon lush who has written 3 books on [close your ears lorp] cleaning goes into your home to clean and sort
Is it the hairy nosed dolphin?
its really terrible
it is haz
Similar concept then Andree.
It sounds like what we have here, Andree. I'm convinced a lot of the people have borderline mental issues.
when i said terrible i meant about the blackmail not the show
get an expert in sure, but put it on t v!!!!
The blackmail is something plucked straight from a TV show, it seems so unlikely.
One episode had a home office ***cough*** but it was full, and I do mean full, of children's toys, games and computers. They had 1 kid. Ridiculous
RIght, must head off otherwise I'll be late for RDA. Nice to see you, back later! Bye!
Eek, dasn't be late Haz. Have a great time! Laters.
have to make dinner, back soon
Hi all. What was John Travolta being blackmailed about? And bye Haz.
Laters Andree.
hi sally lorip will tell you, i have to make dinner
Before you go Andree - I think you should call your puppy Julian :-)))
When his son died, an emergency worker threatened to release private information unless Travolta paid him millions.
Can't get much lower than that now, can ya'?
Oh, and g'd morning Sally.
ty Lori. Strange people about. Did the blackmailer get his come-uppance?
It's being litigated now. trial just started recently.
The price of fame I guess, intruding on ones grief with something so sleazy.
yes, glad John T took it to court. Will google it later
Innit should so be a word. It seems that every teenager adds it to the end of every sentence they utter.
lol, G'd morning Frances
Hello Lori.
And innies. Belly buttons are either innies or outies.
lol Frances
back again
hi Andree
hi lynxxx
Hi Andree
oops - loud sounds from kitchen, I'd better go help BBL
hi sally
i have finished making loud sound in the kitchen, daughter was starving, i will eat later, i wa out for lunch and not hungry yet
Oh, poorly husband calling. brb.
Sally, your new name is Sally-chog killer
Hi babblers back again, not sure how long for though the darned phone is bound to ring :(
hi mitch and christine
:)
hi-hi
So what's the verdict on today's grid?
its good but i needed lickety earlier than usual, good once you know what you are looking for
Ahh an intersting one then, I shall look forward to diving in a bit later.
time to get a cuppa,
... and there goes the phone right on cue :(
just found the 9
My neighbor's cat visits most nights, and keeps drinking my tea ... gotta get some fresh (for me).
that is so funny chris
She claims he likes to go out at nigh ... then he comes to my window, and cries to be let in. I send him back in the morning.
maybe we should call you christine catlover
Back. I claim my right to that name Andree!
i do know that sally
Has anyone found the 10 yet? Is it a real word or a babble word?
rh10, Sally. Think Glen Campbell and Wild West.
i just found the 9 but no 10 yet
Andree (and Sally), the name would fit. We're not allowed pets in this apartment complex, but she went ahead anyway. But I think how much harder it would be to get a pet, them have to let it go - perhaps to be destroyed. Even if it went to a good home, would it understand why it was given away?
aah, ty jac. Thought of that before but couldn't make it fit - was going the wrong way.
y/w
thx jac
Some pets don't seem to mind too much as long as they are looked after Christine, but our cats freak out if we are away and someone else looks after them. They were ex-feral cats with a great fear of strangers.
I think dogs would suffer more, because they get more attached to their owners.
all the cats i have ever had have been rescues, but only 1 feral, she was very difficult to keep inside
Speaking of cats, I'd better go and feed mine. BBS.
bye jac
Ours are fine inside as long as there's a door open and they can get to the cat flap. They are happier outside though.
This one comes in, and jumps up on the bed, while I read. He follows when I go for more tea, and I give him a little in a saucer ... his "Mum" says he's not affectionate, also that he never sitSs by her. DD says he thinls I'm his Mum, and he just visits the neighbor for his meals.
Bye for now Jac.
So how did your neighbour get away with having a cat if they are not allowd?
with nurture over nature he probably thinks you are his mum
The owner lives offsite, and the manager is pretty easy-going, but last year we received a letter reminding us of the ban -- no cats, dogs, rabbits, or birds. Fish are okay. We had a cat and a dog when we moved in (1973!!) but that was under another ownership.
I really am mum to mine. They were so tiny when I found them that I had to feed them on a dropper, then they would sleep on my <cough!> ample bosom. A good excuse not to do any housework for some weeks.
awe how lovely and yay for rubeanesque women ;)
lol FM.
cat in your pic is gorgeous
2nd fr5/16 please
Hello
I am and applaud all curvy women and i bet if we say tittilisous crossy will pop out of the wood work :) if he is logged on that is.
Potatoes Andree
Hey herin :)
Is that a real word FM?
thx sally
hi herin
HOwdy
Tomorrow I have a day full of tests -- bone density, heart sress, something called MRB or MBI, I forget which. They said to inform the technician if I have breast implants ... don't know where I'd put them, since the space is amply filled.
I doubt it sally but is it a good word!
Crossy isn't own
Crossy isn't own on
Great word! Must go and practise it.
LOL Chrinstine and may all be well with the tests.
I think the meaning must be delicious titties.
Good luck with the tests Christine.
Better start clearing up, here, or I'll be late tomorrow. Luv to y'all, God bless and have a safe day/evening/night.
bye chris , good luck for tomorrow
Shame Tog isn't here right now here would love this *grin*
goodluck Chris
good morning all
i need to settle infront of the idiot box, have some hand sewing so i can finish this quilt, back later
oops don't tell haz i am sewing

hi DC
how you doing?
good - how about you?
alright. my last grandparent died last night and Tom's awaiting his surgery right now.
oh dc. sorry to hear that. What is Tom's surgery for?
cool, found an 8.
soory to hear about our grandparent, dc. when is Tom' s surgery
wtg dc
*sorry* even
hi peri
Septal Myectomy. They're removing part of his heart that s too big and causing it to malfunction. The surgery should start around 8. Good morning, Peri :)
whoa. Best to him and you.
Hi Peri
8 am today? will send good wishes his way, dc
and good wishes to you too, dc
yes, and thank you peri
yall have been so supportive :) i really appreciate it
Wow DC..that's all a lot to handle on one day. My very best wished for Tom's speedy recovery
thanks, lyn
*pops in really quickly to say good luck to tom and give hugs to dc*
DC - I wish you both the best.
hi ata
thanks, ata, good evenng
hi/bye Ata
ty, wolvie
how long does the op take?
4 hours, a bit longer if they also replace a valve or two
it should wrap up around Noon GMT-4
wow. one thing - those surgeries have sure gotten better and faster. A good thing. :-)
not tooo long for you to have to worry then. that's good!
so true wolvie. This surgeon only does myectomies and transplants. This facility has done more than 120 so far this year. i have good confidence for a positive outcome :) Indeed, ata
great news dc. a bit of comfort
very much so, not least for Tom, Wolvie. It's part of why he chose Cleveland Clinic
I have heard very good things about Cleveland Clinic
it should take finito
I tried that too. ;-)
all these good endings, and so far few words to put before them.
how far is the hospital away from you? can you pop over there easily?
indeed
i'm sitting in it. We live 6.5-7h away by car. I'm staying with my uncle and aunt in a suburb, about 30 min away. We'll - his whole family's here too- will stay until he's out of surgery at least.
I thought maybe babble was a stress reliever - or redirector of stress today. :-)
and they have wifi? wow. thats impressive!
indeed so, wolvie. and yes, and it's free, too, ata :)
that's just *great*
puts everything in perspective
hospitals are sooooo impossible without diustraction
especially since i left my book at the house today. But the important stuff got here, including the Nintendo DS
*grin*
:-) oh yes. nintendo would be needed.
too bad about the book - but the internet will help
I am totally stuck with 60 to go !
and the book is there for me to bring tomorrow or tonight
check this out, it's amazing: http://www.staffordshirehoard .org.uk/
go lynxx go - is the list up today?
go, lyn!
good dc. It will be awhile out of recovery, although that may have shortened time wise as well
lynxxx - i went to list with more than 60 left - am finding grid quite tough
hi ursh
they said he'd be released 5 days after he's out of Intensive Care, so long as there are no problems nor irregularities.
ata - is this about the gold? I can get the title, but it won't load up
hi Ursh, thanks that makes me feel better
wow. wow again. that's great dc
it takes a loooong time to load, the poor sites a bit overwhelmed I think
ah. okay. :-)
Cor! look at it, it's beautiful!
it's just stunning!
wow. it finally loaded. neat!
nice thing to find in a field!
Gets spade out.
lol Sally
i sure wouldn't mind. ;-)

Not so far from me really.
The SCAdian Mercia is near me :)

hi JB
morning all
a hot humid one today
Good morning Wolvie, peri, sally, ata! Prayers for you and family, dc!
Hi, sue
ty for link JB, loads much faster. Does anyone know exactly where hoard was? *gets map out ready*
*in awe*
they arent saying. just "south staffs"
good morning, JB, and thank you.
Hi Sue & JBs
Good morning/afternoon/evening all. Sleek Hobbit, Ata!
hi Haz
Ha! too far across the ocean to go there, maybe Google Maps street view will show a hoard of people with shovels heading in that general direction!
ty Ata. Puts map away sadly.
hi haz
hi haz! she is soooo sleek and beautiful. she feels like velvet
(am not doing cap letters today cos always have x-stitch frame in 1 hand and typing with the other!)
Hello! She does look lovely.
the staffordshire hoard site finally loaded, i look forward to reviewing it; it looks fascinating.
Must go to work. Puts Babble away, sadly. Have fun, all! *poof*
is that your puppy ata
Good Afternoon, Haz
bye jb
I reckon metal detector sales will skyrocket in England (as that is how it was all found)
There's talk of gold? Have there ever been so many adverts on TV asking people to cash in their gold? Is it the same everywhere or is it just a UK thing?
I think she's more streamlined now, she ran round like a mad thing chasing flocks of pheasants earlier
Hello dc, nice to see you.
bye jb
bye JBs
hasta, JB
sniff. hi haz
I always imagine Spangle moves more swiftly when she's been trimmed but I think it's just imagination.
HELLO WOLVIE!
I hate those stupid adverts
rofl - couldn't resist
I think they do. streamlining and all that. adds about 1.5% to speed
It's nice to see EVERYONE.
Maybe they run faster so you cana't catch them to trim them again.
Their tails and bums would wag faster at least
okay okay - i get it - don't tease the queen. ;-0
Rearranging the tiara...
;-)
HI, Haz, we have ads here asking for gold too
Hobbit's tail stump turns into a propeller
have se8, help with other 8's pls
Hello peri. That's interesting, I wondered if it was widespread. Is it just because gold is so high in price?
rh8, trouble in de nose.
rh8 sounds like a diseased beast
we8, more of we7.
and getting cash in for stuff you don't use. the theory, anyway
got the rh8 thanks
fi8 the fish with the most 'arms'
thanks, lyn
fi8 - the ender
I don't mind the theory of it, it's the fact that you can't turn on the TV without someone begging for your gold.
thanks again lyn
I would never send any gold thru the mail. but there are local jewelers also asking for gold
fa 8 - most light headed
we've always had those ads here, it's not the economy
Yes, I've seen signs in jewellers' windows here as well.
I bet a gold company will appear on watchdog before long
fa 8 - most fa 4 ( don't make it)
found an fa7 but not an fa8
There have already been reports of companies shortchanging people.
got the fa8 thanks
fa 8 - I have 2 so far. fa 8 #1 - people who fa$ (don't make it)
i'm sure
fa 8 #2 - most light headed - fa 5 plus ending
don't get your clue, Wolvie
and i'm sure they'd give much less than market value
there could be more, I am missing 3 8's
when you become light headed, you fa5. them make it more so
peckish, let's say
have an fa6//60
Good morning/day to all!
both are 8/60's
came in at a good time, i've only got one 8 left thanks to all the clues!
Good morning Scrabbler.
hi scrabs!
aha, looking for the other
what about the 9/10
hi Scrabs
A 10 is hidden in here? Wow.
both are compound words
TY for those fa's Wolvie
9 is fi, 10 is rh
hi scrabbler!
Hi Scrabs & Hursh
both compound words - same ending word
thanks
yw lynxx - I am still missing 3
Hello Catlover--Rabbitlover here!

:-) scrabs
hey sue
hi wolvie
frizzy day again here

Let's devoutly hope the rh10 doesn't get Vicuna singing.
I got my hair cut yesterday--it was getting unruly
we didnt get the atlanta rain
oh lol haz - i hope so too
I got a hair band
It takes so little to set her off.
we didn't either sue - got a good gusher, but nothing like those poor folks
*looking for rh10*
I got the 10!!!
perhaps if we stay below the radar haz she won't see it
and he is a great banjo player
yay sue
is she a fan of glen?
think cowgirls scrabbler
she is
I got it, I got it! And I just woke up and am not fully caffeinated yet.
We can hope, Wolvie.
I saw him in brooklyn and worked the lights, he was amazing
I went with a bunch from a metal band who thought glen was a joke,
until he picked the Banjo clean
they went wild
good to know sue. :-)
I don't usually like country music but I was listening to John Denver in the car - thinking that it was all quite cheerful. That is until he launched into a chorus of 'Daddy please don't get drunk this Christmas, I don't want to see my Momma cry.'
memories.....
There is a Glen Campbell Chevy dealership in town--been here for decades
yuk Haz
rofl haz
Bad lyrics
I don't think it was a spoof either. But he does have a good voice.
wow - just monkeyed another fa 8 - distance, vowel and face part
I used to adore John Denver during my teens
Denver did have a great voice.
I love andy gibb
eeek! sue. lol
nice clue Wolvie, ty.
! I should have known that one! TY again Wolvie
*looking for face part*
I thought of annie right away on that one

Aha, that facial part!

((Tom & Seain))--I am so glad you are checking in. Is he in the OR now?
thanks Haz
You're welcome.
the procedure should start soon, scrabbs. I think they're sedating him now.
NBT bbl to finish
There is a lot of preparation before the surgery even starts--arterial + venous lines, catheters, etc
website?
bye peri
be well, peri :)
How long is the procedure expected to last, Seain?
thestatus.com it's a site that the Clinic recommended. Under name of Tom Hundley
raining again. there goes my mowing the lawn
if you request an add, pls include babble name :)
ty dc - I will check it out. good way to keep up.
okay. :-)
Are you doing ok, Seain?
do we have to have a login name?
so far so good, scrabbler, thank you.
Seain, it's much tougher to wait during an operation than to be sedated as the patient. However being a post-op patient is not easy--been there done that many times
good morning.
dc - how do we check it out? it wants me to login
hi red
Hi red
wolvie, click on Request Invitation to Page and search for Tom Hundley
morning, red
duh. ty dc. request sent
Good morning red.
Well, a more reasonabl sized grid this morning.
invite sent
yesterday's was fun
hi all in for a minute before meetings
Hi JM
Hello jmc.
hi, jmc
hi jmc
it was fun but it took a long time because of work.
Damn it when work gets in the way of Babble! Argh.
Sing it, Scrabbler!
exactly my problem today
brb
I will be in meetings from 8:45 to 8 pm :-(
I think I shall call the office now and tell them I will be in when I get my fireworks!
Oh, jm--you will be braindead!
hi jmc

need the last column E for nbt
can I have a stat for it
en4.8 or eo6.21
does Teulu like adrenaline sports or something!
ty, I can get dressed now
bbl
no, we were searching for alligators. but none present, was too cold for them. Have to go in the afternoon...
methinks Teulu was getting rather close to snappable-at range
yes, if there had been any present, even as Logs I would not have let him stick his neck out, but we were several feet above the water on a pier.
I bet! but what fun to go looking for alligators!
I need to go in the afternoon, they are definitely there, but only in the heat.
they are incredible creatures
a bit scary but I think maybe I need to go to Gator land to see them alll....
Big, prehistoric looking creatures
Ata, is that photo Hobbits new cut? Short!
very scary. they are one of only a few creature that just looks like a killing machine. a very cold killing machine
yep! very short! her last chop before winter
Well, they tend to not be too aggressive, they live in almost every body of water here. A couple of frineds of mine went out for a lake swim the other day and almost ran into a very very big one, they turned around and swam away and eh never batted an eye.
Taking a break for lunch, back later.
Yikes, Red!
Bye Hazel
they don't eat people?
bye Haz
njoy, haz
Not regularly Lynxx. THey dont seek people out as prey.
On one path where we run we see them each day looking like logs.
salt water crocs are the shitty ones
People are not the preferred prey so, unless it is breeding season when they are quite aggressive, they tend to leave people alone. But they do on occasion try to eat little dogs.
Happy to say I have missed seeing them. Cairns has lovelly beaches - no-one goes in because of crocs
SO Teulu never gets to go lake swimming here, even though he is large.
I wish Hobbit would go swimming
No-one told her it's a spaniel thing?
Hobbit doesn't swim??
nope!
I took teulu swimming once in NH and he would nto get out for about an hour, It was annoying, to sit there and watch him swim in circles!
wow, never heard of a non-swimming spaniel!
she refuses lol. she loves water now (but only actually started walking into the water 2 years ago), but won't lift her tippy toes off the bottom
At 98/138 I must get ready--rounds at the children's hospital then to the office from 11-6.
enjoy your last days Scrabbs!
when I was little we had a springer that we'd take to the lake -- when it was time to leave it took FOREVER to get him out of the water! LOL
Enjoy the day everyone. Seain, I will be thinking of Tom & you all day. Are you with anyone else?
bye Scrabs
he was in a total state of bliss :-)
bye, scrabs
every spaniel in the world swims apart fom hobbit!
be well scrabbs. yes, his whole family is here
You have taken out of his depth?
seain, have been lurking a bit -- hope all goes well
Good, Seain. I will check in when I can.
ty, une.
what Lynnx?
the major part of the surgery started a few moments ago, so he's open in OR and they're working on his heart now.
Lots of good thought DC, i am hoping all goes perfectly.
so glad you have family there for support . . . and of course you have tons of Babble family there "virtually"!
For Ata Red - Ata, have you taken Hobbit out of his depth?
I try. She refuses lol
best thoughts to you dc
clue for the 10 plz
hi une
thanks, red. Cleveland Clinic has an excellent record with this procedure. Thanks, wolvie
glen campbell movie
hey, wolvie
lol - not a movie - for you, movie
Cleveland CLinic is one of the famous ones. So, think all shall be great.
she gets up to half way up her back in the movie and then just stands there and refuses to go deeper. silly pup!
yes, une, yall have been so wonderful through all of this, and i cannt begin to say how much we appreciate it.
*hugs dc*
well, I have been on facebook and the status for the last half hour - not doing babble at all - I think I will take a break from babble for a bit. bbl
some dogs love the water, others don't, sometimes with no seeming rhyme nor reason. Watching other dogs has not encouraged her?
ata - harvest your crops dear. ;-0
bye Wolvie
*poof*
be well, wolvie
later, wolvie
no! and until she was about 5, she refused to go in water at all. just Refused. not even a paw. then over a few weeks, she decided that water was Great Fun, and now spends a lot of time in it, as much as possible. So I'm hoping that one day , she'll decide she can swim
I am fading so best get going too. Bye DC, I hope by the time I wake up Tom will have too. (PS did anyone tell you you are a saint)
thanks, lyn, sweet dreams
best with it, ata
methinks i need a coffee or a nice strong tea.
getting up at 3 is tiring
DC< I hope they have a nice Coffe tea station in the WR for you...
very! go adn get something nice for yourself!
yes, right around the corner.
i have reese's minis and a chocolate chip muffin waiting. :)
one thing that's interesting to me is that his brother is more upset about all this than either of his parents.
Godo morning, all!
morning, judi
mmmmmm!
that is a bit unusual
well, his brother actually keeps up on bleeding edge research in a variety of medical fields that may make tom's problems better.
his mom's a bit of a wreck, but one of her brothers is here keeping her occupied.
good for him! that takes dedication in itself
interestingly enough, our news headlines today concern a pioneering heart op in greece
oh, neat, ata
the today show was a wash today, must be a slow American news day because they spent a great deal of time with some child actresses tell all. I had to switch to PBS>
using a mechanical pump - with an electrical socket on the patient's head! - and injections of stem cells
Wow! I'm blinded by science. Medical technology just blows me away.

Ok so I know I am living in tropical america, but, all these adds for wool winter coats are just making me sweat and itch, we have an expected high of 91 today.
lol- I can SO relate Red
THe odd thing is if I go to Kohls, I think they will be selling sweaters here. Walmart has all summer wear on sale, even though its what we wear all year round.
it's even frustrting living in states with 4 seasons, because when you really NEED a winter coat, you can't buy one to save your life!
Odd.
yeah, in the dead of winter they start selling their summer stuff and if you lose your gloves your out of luck
yes that is true. I am always glad for swim suit sales even though I swim outside year round.
Morning all. I'm so glad these grids are large right now; I don't have the time to be tempted to play until this weekend! How is everyone today?
good morning
(sneeking in for a moment before getting ready for work)
(and sneeking out before anyone notices)

ah. yes. I did too. I monkeyed that going for something else lol
me too, kje, I lurk at night, intending to "peek" at the grid and get sucked in, way too late
that eo6 ends in "belief" suffix
need to move west, lol..
well, i am moving west, but only by about 10 minutes... so don't think that will help
lol, I was thinking Hawaii
when you move - connect with Fran - she seems way cool
what t*** would the grid flip in Hawaii?
4 in the afternoon?
fa8/55?
h'mm, looks like the European Babblers get the grid in the morning
distance plus vowel plus part of your face
ty again wolvie
i thought of annie and the hairy no**d babbler. lol
sh 6/30? lost here
Aloy early am. But of course that is no help to me on a work day.
which country will you choose, aloy - I would do Spain, France, or Denmark
a lawman, less and f
alt sp for a guy with a badge who arrests outlaws
that clue was for ruru
yw
sh6 - I shot one
love ya aloy.. thanks
(-: yvw, ruru
were you guys around for annie's hairy n***d babbler comment? it was a riot
thanks kje
missed it Wolvie
missed it
no prob ru - but I didn't shoot the deputy, just so you know
back again. decided that I will NOT eat the food at the required retreat next week -- if they won't let me bring food on-site, then I will simply not eat there.
when the dolphin showed up the other day, we were all going around about it, and annie piped up with the hairy babbler comment as the clue - it was sooo funny
had to email the faculty member in charge of that. *sigh* food allergies suck.
Good evening all. And a happy Arthurs day. (its 250 years since Arthur Guinness signed the lease on the famous brewery in Dublin. Mad celebrations here!! - As if the Irish ever needed an excuse!)
she didn't realize she had typed babbler at first. good way to start the day
hey soodles!!!!
to Arthur!
ah, fireworks
i guess you would have had to be there wolvie ; )
hi soodle
ty for the info, Soodlebum

hi soodle
hi 7 first one?

hubby going south without you? (PARTY AT ALOY's HOUSE!)
the second is a biochem term, but can't see the first
sure aloy - any excuse for a beer is what i think
like a horse sound, but no w
Soodlebum I have drunk some good Guinness in the past, thoroughly enjoyed, especially with a sing song and great company.
isn't that a sort of a mule? (the hi 7)
ty aloy - got it
lol, stid.. he needs to take care of things down there, and so I get to close up the house here.. PARTY T*** !
You bet, Elder!!
The mule has a je, not an hi - this is a batch of chickies.

oh! okie dokie. thanks aloyisius!

brb dog is desperate
Wolvie well done..

that clue gave me TWO words, ruru!
YAY ruru?
he is being all shy and retiring, stid...
I thought I scared you all away! LOL
howdy, stid
it's that black icon, stid - scary stuff
hey BR
but but -- it's a pretty planet icon! LOL okay, will go change. It's been nearly a week after all.
i work in a place that is rampant with nepotism.
o....kay
good day, sciencegeek
hey br
nepotism in education -- school board must be aware
no, this is a private school.
well, that is simply no 7/32
dont know that one br!
okay, I think the new icon will be less startling.
BR, it's a tribute to you, in a way. I decided to make some "inspirational" bookmarks for my classmates...
and hello science... assuming you are not one of the nepotists!
i hate it when i am angry. i also hate to deal with passive aggressive people.
(((gentle hugs for science)))
i negotiated to have fridays off this year - we do not teach on friday - we are here merely for tutorials. i never had any students on fridays. now, THEY are saying Iwill have to work on fridays next year. there is another teacher here who never works on fridays. this all occurs because i am selling jewelry at the Tex Renaissance Festival.
will they pay you extra to work fridays?
do you have an alternative (do you have to teach there)?
"enomis" is in the grid today! LOL
A good teacher is like a candle - it consumes itself to light the way for others. ~Author Unknown
but good teachers also take care of themselves, knowing how to set boundaries so they stay healthy enough to teach.
sounds like this school does not respect teachers. *sad mama face*
"enax" ought to count. like how congress enax laws.
I like a teacher who gives you something to take home to think about besides homework. ~Lily Tomlin as "Edith Ann"
I like that quote muchly!
Modern cynics and skeptics... see no harm in paying those to whom they entrust the minds of their children a smaller wage than is paid to those to whom they entrust the care of their plumbing. ~John F. Kennedy
Ok I have attempted to change my icon...
and that quote I hardly like, but know the truth of.
hello red. what are you trying to be today?
Hello, H
money???
Money.
BR were you a teacher? before you retired?
oever, oddly it seems to have resized my dog instead.
you have your eyes on your money
I would like to be money some days... then I could afford to fix all the things that need fixing around my house and yard
no, the profile pic is right. refresh babble.
Oh so the geico money is showing.
I was a lawyer ... who soon came to appreciate the influence of caring teachers
I need help on the E tiles please. so far I can't find ANY words starting with E. *Sigh*
oh -- that explains how you know so much. lawyers in my acquaintance are pretty smart
Thank you, Stidmama
*grin* hey lawyer!
em 4 5 en 4 eo 6 6 5 6
Back - they pay very little here so teaching fridays is not a profit center for me.
of course, as a wannabe teacher, I like to think teachers are pretty smart too! LOL
thanks BR
Hi
eonies
i hate stupid people
hence the money-making jewelry? hope it at least pays for itself... *considering own creative expenses*
oops i am feeling the anger
need 4 more words to be at halfway...
i hope it is profitable. it is the largest Ren Fest in the US.
and then I need to get back to my work. at least this is fun, not reading endless repetitive books.
there are a lot of smart people .. a lot fewer who can help a child maintain her/his imagination and curiosity throughout maturation
WOW science, that would be such a kick to attend!
eosine
yes lawyer, now to the Penatly box with you.
I'll get this right yet
there are cookies and chocolate in there I think.
<--- try the add word box, lawyer. :-) you'll get it.
choclits?
you left them yesterday stid.
I have ordered a costume!
lawyer? as in lawyer for YEARS ago??
*tummy grumble* oh dear...
I think I would very much like to be a student of yours, stid ... even at my advanced age
awesome, science!
I don't like passive aggressive people.
yes...many years ago
I remember you!
LOL atalante, and -- *i* left them? my brain must be missing a few screws
I am watching students spill water all over my room - no fine motor skills. they are in high school. help
people, people, all bow to lawyer. he was a legend way back when!
a fading legend...at best
pleased to meet you, lawyer-1
oh BR -- I don't know. I poked an 8th grader in the shoulder with my cane yesterday because he was goofing off in science class... LOL have known him since he was 8 years old, though, so not something I do regularly!
well, we are all legends in our own minds....
AND I make them try. They don't like to try things when success is not certain.
brilliant, none the less! :P
The pleasure is mine
anyway, welcome back!
*curtseying to lawyer and BR*
but to go beyond your comfort zone is the thing of life
in my past life i worked 70 hours a week for litigators.
ugh. does NOT sound fun, science!
its true though, people are most hesitant to try things because they have a fear of looking stupid. My life got a lot better when I stopped worrying about that.
there. halfway. *proud mama look* and in about an hour. thanks for your help BR
I am getting more comfortable being outside my comfort zone. Spent the whole last year pushing my limits.
I am smiling -- great to be in the company of those who care
*blush* oh BR! what a compliment!
red -- speaking of people who care... are you doing any better? are your legs painfree?
I am over the flu, thanks. now I am getting back to the running, so its sort of painful, but I was sick for a long time, so I am now just happy to breathing well and able to work on the running.
glad you are better, redT
thanks Bab Rab, me too. being sick for that long actually had me feeling a little dpressed which I dont think is my norm...
Last night, my Mommy told me I could not train my walking poles today because she thought I was overdoing it
Stid, if you get rid of the cane, what will you use to poke students with???
Your Mom BR?
yep
Are the walking poles any fun? are just difficult.
I really like them ... besides making my arms, shoulders and back do some work, they provide stability and increase distance
hello all
BR - what is happening with your health? I know I am out of the loop on this.
hey peri
hello, peri
BR, what kind of walking poles did you buy
nice BR. Will you be coming to Melbourne for my Marathon then?
I am okay, sciencegeek ... was quite dysfunctional for a long time ... have some balance issues which the poles help with
as in Melbourne, Australia?
nah, Melbourne Florida.
I hate to fly so I will probably never go to Austrailia. those trips to Africa were really tortoruous...
Is it Meniere's (spelling?) disease, BR?
I think I should get a job working at the mall!
I hate flying too, red. Developed this fear over the past couple of years.
looooooove flying
I have MountainSmith Pyrite 7075s, peri .. entry level poles
I will do it when I have to, but if there is not a good reason then I dont. WIll probably fly for Thanksgiving though.
Its just too cramped and crowded, and then someone has some sort of medical emergency and and and...
oh, neer heard of them, BR. where woulld I find them. would like to work on my upper body strength when I walk
*never*
do a google search for walking poles or sticks .. there are videos that show them being used ... some sites make using them complicated ... I just started and found a rhythm ... look a lot like ski poles
walking poles are brilliant
don't travel well, redT -- but wish you luck
BR, just looked on line, lots of places to buy them. will look for the videos, thanks
It's Ok BR. I am sure if I run it I will not shut up about it.
hey peri, sorry all the computer is totally lagging right now. BR, hope you can train your poles again soon. They look like such a good idea! and red, glad you're better -- don't overdo the training when you get back into it!
and now I am going to reboot this recalcitrant computer and try to get some work done. ((((hugs and choclit for all)))) be well. *poof*
be well, stid

Hello Kazzer, going good, how about you?
95 to go . . . think it's time for the list . . .
yes i am on the list now..32 more to find
go, zoom!
not so good got a bit of an ulcer thing goin on which is not comfortable but coping - but not been doing much babble - cant concentrate enough
i have 77 left
so sorry to hear that, kazzer!
Not good news Kazzer, i have heard that draught guinness is good for stomach ulcers, not sure if it is true or not though.
they will clear up evenutally they usually - these are on the outside on my arm and side - its quite embarassing as they can get quite whiffy
down to 69 - onto the ms
the definition for the no 7/32 is interesting in the context
Hello everybody.
hello, Soodlebum
hi soodle
Just a guest appearance tonight folks. Between work and bed, I thought I would wish everybody a Happy Arthurs Day (in honour of Arthur Guinness...bless his little cotton socks)
that s a good idea - Happy Arthur Day to you to
Didnt actually participate in the celebrations myself (the country has gone bananas), but I thought it was my duty to wish my fellow babblers a happy day!!
Hello Soodle & BR :-)
Happy Arthurs day to you too Soodle.
Hiya Zoo!
And Hiya Babble - Like the profile. (as usual)
there is an advert for Guinness on the tv here at the mo...they raise their glass and say to Arthur
they as in a large group of people standing outside a pub
Yeah -- the advert is called Chinese Whispers. It goes from To Arthur -to To Martha - to To Parsnips - to God alone knows what. Guinness spend a fortune on advertising, but , clearly it pays off!
thats the one, i must admit, i do love drught guinness :-)
i will update my profile when i have stopped feeling sorry for myself which i shouldnt be considering i have all the vital bits and a good job and a lovely kind husband but i hurt and am feeling a bit down
Anyway - its a light relief from the Lisbon Treaty debate which is raging in this country at the moment!!
i can understand Kazzer, i do hope you get well soon though.
Aw Kaz.... I came in late... Are you ok?
i can listen to it for a while soodle ..but after about an hour or so i keep the tv on but mute the sound..lol
how is the vote looking to go Soodle - at least you got a chancevto make a choice! - Ive got ulcers and other rotten bts
I am sorry to hear that kazz. If you have all that going on, you dont really need to know about the crap going on here!! I wish you well, and keep the chin up! XX
oh i dont know i like politics where you have some choice - our c++p government thinks it knows best and keeps selling us up the river
Heck, Kazz, we voted "no" last year. the govt didnt like that, so here we go again.... Its all a bit bizzare
thats because you have to keep voting untill you say YES..of course..lol
Then factor in this godforsaken country's utter dependancy on the EU, and you gotta wonder..
i know - exactly zooz - you cant hold up the european elephant
Hey!! I come onto Babble to get away from it alll. so I repeat...Heres to Arthur!!! Slainte!!!
i have also found my favoritest word for a long time mi 6
mi6,24 i take it..LOL
erm????.
CHEERS Soodle :-)
mi6 mi + another name for poo
Have a very large one for me - i loved it when we went to Dublin a few years ago - went on the overnight ferry from Holyhead - wandered around Dublin sampling its delights and came home on the overnight ferry all for £10 and even the bus was thrown in
thats the word zooz
does the ur6 have to do with pee?
yes and the plural
Ha! I love it. Says it all, really, doesn't it!! rofl
oops dr that was the plural
sounds like a bloody good bargain Kazzer...it would cost you £60approx to go from isle of wight to portsmouth (about 2 miles of sea)..lol
ty Kaz!
yes DR all three do
Kaz, consider yourself lucky. A lot of tourist complain of being ripped off. Well done you!
ty- got all 3 now
We were staying in Wales for our usual holiday and decided to do Dublin in a day - left the caravan at midnight and arrive back 27 hours later
i think wales is a beautiful place too.
its great - we've been going there for the last 12 years
if you want more politics ..question time is now on bbc1..LOL
Have the grand total of 47 words, and I have to go. Hopefully I will get a good run at Babble over the weekend. In the meantime - lovely chatting tonight. Take care everyone, and hugs to Babblerabble.
Have the grand total of 47 words, and I have to go. Hopefully I will get a good run at Babble over the weekend. In the meantime - lovely chatting tonight. Take care everyone, and hugs to Babblerabble.

wow- Go Kaz and Zooz!
ru7 Neat and orderly
Hello all, soodlebum, not surprised to see you mentioning the Lisbon connection. Lots of signs up along the roads in Ireland. Which is a great place, as you know.
Hi Stidg- good to see you- how were your travels?
Hello, stid
Our travels, hello to zoo and dr, also, were fantastic. The weather could not have been lovelier and the sights were amazing. My ignorance about Ireland was painfully great.
ty
I have 2 words so far and may not be able to do many more. Just not focused as of yet.
yw
I have never been to Ireland though all pictures I have ever seen are beautiful
When I was little, my great grandparents, had a picture of the Devil's Causeway. Now I/ve seen it.
hi fellow babblers!
was it like the pictures?
Hello Beach
I'm going to exit for now.
Hi Beach
ok- Take Care Stidg
Bye Stid, take care.
good afternoon, night evening everyone!
Hello, Red
I came very close to finishing yesterday and today I am determined to finish.
how many have you left to find?
i have 7 more
86.
I have not opened the list yet, about 20 or so more and I shall meet up with lickety.
thats very good going then red.
7 more is very very good going!
thanks..but i had started to use the list at about 130 to go
Hi Red!
when I use the list with more than 50 or 60 left, I get overwhelmed by the possibilities.... ;)
Hi DR. How is everything?
everything is good.. how are you?
better, glad to not be sick any more.
I bet! glad you are feeling better
I have the hiccups and they are driving me batty
hi :)
Hello DC
hold your breath!
DC- How are you?
Hi DC, how has the day been?
and thats fireworks for me.
COngrats Zooz!!!!!
wtg zooz
wtg Zooz!
didnt work Red- thanks though
hold it longer!
congrats, zoot
Many thanks babble friends.
I am holding it until I hiccup again : )
hi, red. I'm tired, no longer hungry, and here to complete the grid.
was the surgery today DC?
and TOm is doing well?
i left tom not long after they gave him a PCA Drip of Delaudid - or however you spell it. They had him extubated only 2.5h out of OR.
he's looking well, and his numbers are good, though BP has not yet stabalized.
sounds like he is doing ok then
* except for BP
good news, I'm sure the CLinic is doing it right!
LOL I guessed at the rh10! YEHA!
Oh I have not gotten that one yet. I was happy with the runny nose rh....
its a glen campbell cowboy song Red
oh- hubby home brb
yes, he's doing well, and the BP is expected for post-open-heart surgery. The removed 12g of tissue from his septum. The surgeon was impressed - he'd not seen that much removed in at least 15 years.
Bing! I got that DR, My sister used to play that song all the time!
ty, red, i loved that song when i was small.
I actually still like to hear it once in a while...
I think in a few weeks TOm is going to start feeling much better than he has in a long time...
agreed, red :)
and yes, the Clinic has been wonderful
glad to help
Its good to hear good news about some health care....
now, what it'l cost us, that's another question entirely.
last visit they billed 13k, of which we owe 1k and change
not bad, really.
eek thats scary when its free here
i can imagine, kazzer. For the type of surgery he had, alone - not including the blood tests and office visits - will likely be betwen 30k and 50k billed to the insurance. Heavens willing, we'll only owe about 5k of it at most.
Great blessing is that the Clinic is in-network for his insurance. So it'll cost us the least possible amount out of pocket.
What they pay for the surgery the insuance'll make up in drug costs within a couple of years. He'll be losing 3-to-5 of his meds for this operation. :)
still good, man i hope i never need any surgery like that...
Well DC you have all my best wishes to you both and i hope that everything goes well for you
thank you, kazzer :)
may no one here nor their loved ones - blood or otherwise - need such.
red, did you make the money pile, or it from GEICO?
it's really cute
i get my meds free which is good cos it would cost me about £90 a month if i had to buy them - i get 11 different prescriptions a month
tom currently has 12 different prescription pills - costing about US$300/mo with insurance.
I took it from google images.
thats going to change though, DC hopefully they will reduce or get rid of a few now.
i'm not complaining, just saying that that is the current reality in the US for those with chronic conditions/diseases.
yes, red, at least 3 heart meds will go away.
but yes, its pretty hard to get sick in the united States, even with Insurance.
the national health service might be a bit slow and creaky but at least most people get what they need - we do have issues with some of the new expensive cancer drugs and such like - sometimes you have to make a special case to get them - we call it the postcode lottery here
yes, new drugs are hard here too, likely for much the same reason.
I think if these republican senators spent a few days watching what goes through or Emergencies rooms they would quickly approve some sort of intense regulation and public option.
so true, red.
when zofran first came out I used to have to fill out a form that we had tried three other cheaper drugs fisrt to be able to use it.... and it is so much better and safer...
Hey dc - just checked the status - have to say WOOT!
why would they care about anyone if they are so content to discard those who fight the wars they eagerly find to fight
thanks, wolvie :) Yes, so far, so good
Excellent point, BabbleRabble. And good afternoon.
glad to hear the news, dc
its not that they would care, but they would realize the absoloute waste in the system, they dont care a bit about their constituents, thats obvious...
just popped into babble on the off chance you may be here - so glad for you guys. I will check back tomorrow. Have a good evening and such. Same to Tom - as much as can be. Looking goood!
thank you, BabbleRabble.
g'night wolvie, and thank you
so see everyone tomorrow *poof*
so seemingly true that, red. or at least they don't care in a way that you or i recognize.
ar6/18 please
that's because if the democrats pass a health plan, then the democrats are the heroes. they can't let that happen! the goal of each party is to make the other party look bad and ineffective so they can get into power.
oh, for coalition governments.
down to 7
i learned last night also that my father's father died at 19 Eastern. It's been a long, long, week.
go kazzer, I have 80 left.... bleeeh, may need to head to list before 60.
go, kazzer, go!
Oh DC< I am sorry to hear that. Lot of stuff going on.
Onassis' first, abbr, + cut off his n*** to spite her face; change the last vowel for the second ar 6/18
ty, BR
Thanks, red :)
ty br

ooh, there's an fa8/55?! that's the one i need then!
next to last fa
f + that A brabble just clued
fa 8 -- feeling like a swoon is imminent
hooray - fireworks - first time since the hols for a largish grid - i will be back tomorrow - take care on and all and i will keep tom in my prayers DC
he6/21 please
congrats, Kazzer
name for your bottom
congrats, kazzer, and we thank you.
ty for fa8, BR
Under democracy one party always devotes its chief energies to trying to prove that the other party is unfit to rule—and both commonly succeed, and are right. ~ H. L. Mencken
hello and ty for the fa8, br. I've got 10 minutes on the grid, so your timing was impeccable!
Hello, justafreep
hi, freep
hello all, back to finish
dc how did Tom's surgery go?
very well, peri. We expect him to be much better tomorrow. Today, we rest. We've all been through a lot.
good to hear, will keep him and you in my thoughts, dc
hello all
thanks, peri
hi, TO
I'm clearly coming in late on all this, DC, but glad to hear things are well.
has anyone discussed why fa8 is a word but fa9 isn't?
if you tell me what fa 9 is i may be able to help you freep ;)
there is no fa 9.
there is a fi 9, a brand of tire, or a hot rock.
thats a good reason for it to not be a word
I know there isn't one. I'm just saing that if FA8 is a word, the even more so version of FA5 should be a word. Must be a different definition.
back again for 5 minutes
possibly, I think i dont have the word yet that is vexing you Freep.
Oooh, I htink in truth Freep it's because it really isn't a word in the proper sense. Hmmm.
there area couple of fa8's it could be
considering that I've never heard fa8 used in real life, it's not vexing. more amusing.
well is there fa6?
iest
sorry fa8?
yes it is a plural of the fa 5, to lose ones conciousness..
HI BR again, hows the hammock?
ty, freep. sorry i stepped away for a moment.
wore it out
No way, will you get a new one?
maybe in the spring
I still want one, but I am too tightfisted.
uh oh, ok...
pahtom for all those on the mommy track: otitis
LOL temple, mine was Otiose.
Sad to say, my time here is done. see y'all later!
i was in a panic just 20 in ago. i accidentally switched of wire less switch and could not find it to restore it
hi again
hello again DR I am still struggling along.
hello dr
me too-
wb, TO
Hi TO
TO, i hate when i do that. Glad you figured it out quickly
I am up to the n words Red- what about you?
i guess shintoism is proper and not accepted?
I have 76 left, I like to get to 60 left before hitting ist, sooo...
Well, only one S in the grid....
you are so close Red!
but I see nothing! just a fog of yellow letters!
seain, i see babble meet info. was hoping it would not involve having to get onto any road to get into the district this time
there is take Metro
yes- it is a yellow fog Red
metro is awesome. I wish we had metro here.
beware yellow fog, it may be sulphurous
pardon me?
I am trying incidently to find a Lego space shuttle kit for my 6 yr old nephew....anyone seen one?
I plan to metro in. Metro is the DC subway system. Drive to Greenbelt Station and take the train
will the is in day light hours?
i do not park and take public transit alone in the dark, esp on a weekend when lots may be deserted.
yes, it's a lunch
i'll be in Baltimore that weekend. You could meet us at our hotel and we could carpool
do msot of you live in the district?
'dja google it, red?
I did hurshy, didnt really find what I was looking for....
seain: we just got word we will be teting thanksgiving week. if i only get to go home on wednesday, i will not come back on sat then again on mondayh to work
did you try the lego store
most of us live in or near DC.
I think it is a website as well
I did not know there was a lego store, will be googling that...
Seain, there is a Meet up during the thanksgiving week???
www.lego.com
Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend in DC
DR what do you know there is an actual lego store in Orlando!
thanks so so much!
DC, I might come.
so i will not attend. if i have no thanksgiving that's anopther story,
Hello again everyone. Back for the evening session. Seain--how is Tom feeling? Comfortably sedated?
if I am thanksgivinging in PA that is.
so have fun
they have lots of star wars stuff, but perhaps you were going for realism?
PCA drip of Dilaudid :)
what ails tom, seain?
morning all
or midnight, or whatever it is on top of the world
he had a Septal Myectomy, TO. They cut 12g of tissue from his septum.
morning, gortmold
Hello, Scrabbler, has getting to the end of the month been an ordeal?
deviated septum?
he's going quite well. They extubated him only 2.5h from the OR.
clues for the first 2 eo6's and the is pls?
enlarged septum in the heart
oh my. please give him my best regards.
Whoo Hoo the lego store website, awesome, no space shuttle but well, lots of other things.
will do, TO :)
holy moly dc, that sounds incredible - 12 kgs of extra heart tissue?!
Yay for Tom! Yay for PCA pumps!
i saw space shuttle lego stuff at Toys R Us two mos ago
12 grams, not kg, gortmold
LOVED my PCA pump - would marry it if I could
I need to keep searching the site....
ahh, well that would be bad too i guess
good lord i am sorry but i am surrounded by illness and death the last month. i know someone who is dying whom i cannot see and i just don't know aht to do to communicate with him
is + country duo h**** and jethro
glad to hear he is doing well DC
One more work day --Monday--at current office. Wow, I can hardly comprehend that I will be escaping the tyranny, micormanagement, nitpicking, etc
my grandfather died last night, too.
scarabs will you have better hours?
sorry to hear, TO, is the person hearing, but anable to speak?
oh, seain, I'm so sorry . . .
that is great news too scrab
The guy with esophageal cancer, Owl? Send a card with a letter.
i am sorry, seain
wow, DC, this is a challenging week for you! sorry to hear about your grand dad
I saw that one your LJ, Seain--so sorry.
ty, kje. Conveniently, i'm already in Cleveland at least
I don't know where he is. i bought cards but they all seemed inappropriate...what do you send to someone who is dying?
Similar hours, Owl, but commute = 12 min instead of current 45. One day weekly I will work at a Native American health center on a reservation 25 min away.
was it unexpected, DC?
kind thoughts, TO, and if you're close, a polite blessing that lets them know that you're okay with them leaving this plain.
I see mission from Mars, but not the shuttle. ahhh, may go with the firehouse theme, he is young. he will not care.
"Thinking of you" cards, owl
Oh it is definitely list time, BRB.
kje, he had a massive stroke a week ago. So neither expeted nor unexpected. It's for the best, really. This way, one of his children outlived him. My uncle is not well, and he's the last of the 3 in that generation.
i am gogn to try to call. i suppose i can try tonight, i imagine the days and nights may be irrelevant at this point
sign gas: n + eo* + Native American Ind***
thanks bab, got it eventually
how old was he DC?
83, kje
sign gas: n + **n + device that refracts light: pr***
TO - I agree with DC - mostly just letting the person know you are there, and truly being available to let them talk, relive shared good times, and be comfortable with what is happening is best
kje: not that close
if it were a friend i would do whatever.,, both comfortable with any awkwardness
best with it, TO. It's never easy.
ah - didn't realize
DC - Tom went to CC for his OR?
yes, kje
he's in J-56.8 right now
Ty for EO words, BR
yw
that is a big procedure to have so far from home - nice that you could go with him - best to you both DC
I must run, bbl
it's only 6.5h by car. Longer going home, as we'll need to stop frequently.
ok left message on voicemail. creepy that he has his home # in hospice and you hear his well voice
i think my cousin may be playing guitar hero.
he'll be so glad to hear from you TO
I just found that they are offerring a lego Advent calendar, what a nice gift.
well seain, i look at it this way/ he has tons of close friends. i pray every night that he is free form pain and has peace of mind. i can do no more. you were not here after he was given final diganoses and i phoned hom and he railed at me. so i do what is right for him, not what makes me feel better
he has friends there. all he needs is prayer, since i do believe
that's good of you do what you are, TO. Sounds like a difficult situation.
TO that is a very good attitude, so many people do things tht look like helping others, but are mostly for themselves. it is very difficult to go through that.
i think i am g oing. don't feel like babbling right now. good luck all.
g'night TO. Sweet dreams
bye, TO
hi everyone
hi, jenmo

Life is going well thanks for asking
ty BR
hi, cjmomma
red, i'd expect that in FL. BabbleRabble, i guess there's not been a freeze yet, so you still have them. Wee.
hi dc
we are still pretty warm and I am inland so guess I need to buy stock in off...
we have solar powered mosquito lights but they do not work :(
yes we are permanently on hot it seems.
it's been dry this summer around DC, so not been too bad
mosquito lights?
they are supposed to repel them
nothing works against mosquitoes! they're unbeatable!
I keep fabric softner sheets on me when working outside
helps a lil bit
yeah, and it is the females that are the bloodsuckers
isnt that always the way BR ? ")
lol
I have actually had very little mosquito probems which has had me wonder several times...
apparently it depends on the person -- they eat me alive
ok still have sooo many words..no4 back in grid
same with my son Une
I think we really just dont seem to have had them, I usually get bit..
and my daughter
one of my mom's caretakers who's very sweet but very "country" says I have "sugar blood" LOL
mosquitos haven
I always get bit
mosquito's haven't bothered me am much as i've gotten older. Fleas, however, see me as a smorgasbord
Darn it all, I think I missed every fish in the grid.
happy fishing, red! :-)
oops. misused an apostrophe, i did.
* hands Red and extra hook
we'll give you a pass today, seain :-)

Hello, stid and Dorens
Apple fiiiight!!!!!!!!!!
hey TO!
and hey Dorens!
hi everyone
evening, dorens
you have a neat work area, stid, in both senses of the word
oh gee, thanks BR. you aren't seeing the piles of boxes -- or the desk that has papers all over it! LOL
what did you find out from the orthopedist, Dorens?
but it's coming along... at least there's space to work now.
hello stid
dc. how is tom? babrab, what i found is i have a fractured calcaneus (heelbone) which came apart when I twisted my ankle and the ligament sort of tore a piece of the bone off. I am still on crutches for another three weeks, he gave me some exercises which i began last night and they felt like pure torture
af 5 please?
babrab -- you've never actually SEEN stid's work area, have you! I have!!! Hi all!
owie owie owie, dorens!
dorens, that is bad news, I hope it heals well....
tom is quite well, and recovering nicley so far. He's in ICU right now, but will be in step-down unit tomorrow or day after.
do i sound cranky? i sure am. but I also know that this is nothing compared to many other problems people have, so I don't really mean to complain. hi jilli
*fetches ice pack, anti-inflammatories and cabana boy with tray of drinks*
ouch dorens - sounds painful!
hey jill!
oh that is good news dc.
evening, jilli
need the last FA 8 please?
adj of the fa6 before it, stid
which one
i haven't seen my grandchildren since august 18th, and was scheduled to drive to boston tomorrow. now making arrangements to take a train. a pain, but only metaphysically speaking... less physical pain .. (yes, it's my right foot)
Amtrak is such a lovely way to travel the NE corridor
sorry to hear, doren. hello jili
thanks seain *working*
DOrens that injury would kill me, complain away, but DC is right, I love amtrack.
the train is expensive tho dc!
expensive, but wort every penny. Have you ever splurged for Acela service? So nice.
um the last FA 8?
no easy way to get to the train station and back, however.. and i want to leave right after school. oh well. and yes, I am splurging for acela
fa + tv dog: *** tin tin + cut off your n*** to spite your face
take a taxi, dorens!
taxi?
add chemical ending to fa6, stid
i happen to like driviing. have a comfortable car, get nice books on tape, and like having the autonomy once i'm there
AHA! thanks BR. that was an ending I hadn't considered!
the train at least in the eastern corridor is not at all expensive, much cheaper than driving usually.
hah. the taxi to the train is $60 + tip.. and that's one way
brb tom is going to fix my hip and neck and then I can do some more in the office. ((Hugs))
kindly neighbor or friend, doren?
hi everyone
i'm working on that, seain. but you realize how helpless crutches make you.. i need help just to get groceries, or a package mailed at the post office..
good day, Andree
hi, andree
yes, dorens, i imagine it is difficult.
hang in there dorens, it is really frustrating.
hello 159 to go
can I get a help for the first Me 6? I am not doing well with it.
hello, harpjane
hi, harp
thanks for the kindness. I'm sorry to be complaining.., it really doesn't do me any good, I'm just sick of this, and need to get to another level of acceptance.
and hi harp. now i'll shut up for a while and try to get some words in here
eenie, me 6
DOrens, I've been on crutches with a broken leg back in the day and it was horrid, so complain away, please!
BR !!!! Kisses BR all over.
must be hard to accept though so complain away you poor thing
Dorens, I broke my right fibula a few years ago which meant I couldn't drive, and crutches were hopeless. I got a walker -- much easier for me to cope with, but I do live on one floor.
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
see, there. Jilli had it much worse than I did. I can drive, my job is 20 minutes away, and i use cruise control
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
It was the no driving which was really awful -- having to depend on acquaintances for help. I hadn't lived here very long, and had no family close by.
good evening, minver
i am so thankful that I can drive... it isn't terribly comfortable, but i CAN do it. makes a huge difference
Oh, hi Jilli - fancy seeing you here? ;)

Hi lbdawger! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid

Frost already in the USA?

my son was 12 and that was more than enough!
Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow
bye min!
night, Min! sweet sleep!
I hope that baby was born by Caesarean? If not, the mother may never walk again!
did you think you were having twins, Jmc?
'Night Min. Don't Babble in your sleep.
no because there was only one heart beat
My first baby was 6 and three-quarter lbs and my 2nd was 8lb 1oz. The second was quicker and easier (not being a bum-first breech presentation).
but the first words he heard were *Oh my god he'l be ready for kindergarten in a week!"
1st baby was 3 weeks early and nd was 2 days late.
*2nd
LOL, jmc.
24 inches long! my god, that's a toddler!
That is long, lbd. My son (1st) was 18" long and 2nd (daughter) was 20 and a half inches long.
hi all. have 116 words so far and back to do more.
clue for af 5 please?
burning up, mkg
For those wondering if this baby boy (as of yet unnamed, but we suggest "Hulk") is the heaviest newborn in history, the answer is no. The record belongs to an American infant born in 1879. He weighed 23 pounds, 12 ounces. Sadly, he died a few hours after being born. An ABC station reports that the heaviest baby to survive weighed 22 lbs., 8 ounces.
there's a picture of the baby on msn.com. he's next to a "normal" sized newborn. He's 3 times the size, and apparently is 3 times louder and hungrier
hi mkg
refresh if curious
The first thing my daughter (born at home) heard was probably, (from my GP), 'She's been here before!' Babies are supposed to not be able to support their own heads when first born, but not her. She was moving her head about, looking around the room and taking everything in.
Hi, all - one of my Hubby's brothers was over 13 pounds when born, and the doc said to his mom, "Here's your 2-year-old son!" (was I ever fearful when I got pregnant!)
is the chat stuck?
Clue for the first hi 7/32?
my son spiked a fever within an hour after being born because they put him under a heat lamp so he spent his first week in the icu
Hi. My friend and his 4 or five siblings where all about 14 pounds

Hi Trif.
Kisses to you Dahling!
hi trif
Trif, I can't stop singing All the Single Ladies -- ever since the fabbo episode of Glee last nite!!
oooh! Love the new pic! When and where was it taken!?!?!!
went to open house at the high school tonight. Best part hands down - MR. VACHA!!! Tie and all.....
Would have LOVED to seen that! LOL!
hi trif
what
what's Glee about? I saw it but didn't watch it
I KNOW Une, right? The girls and I have been doing that all day! Thank God we dvr'd it - have watched the "I am here to audition for the role of kicker" part at least twice. pee my pants laughing every time
fa 8/60 pls
I LOVE him!!
I need to start watching that show!
lots of great clips on youtube!
you really, really really do. Watch an episode on line - it will change your life
feeling like you are going to swoon, jmc
jmc - fa8.60 - kind of swoony...
there have only been four episodes, so you can catch up really quickly. I think last night's was the best so far
or not very clar print?
*clear
Triffies I just ssent you and email can yuo please talk to me at FB
or the other fa8.60 is not successes
here's a fun fact - there are 25 students in Tristan's math class. Number of parents in the room tonight? SIX. Two couples, two singles. sigh
here's taste: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2FMdOL yRcA
That's sad.
I have the not successes and know this one begins with passing out but don't see the ending
6 kids each and a 7, Trif?
mi 6 24 first one please?
i hope those students parents participate in their education in some other way other than open house.
trif you don't know if the parents are working two jobs; have two open houses to go to or what
just clued mkg
nm got it
mi + poop, mkg
sadly no. OH, and you gotta love this - during the physics class, a woman in the front row's cell phone rang, and she took the call. While the guy was telling us about the class. Took the call, people.
ty got it.
beeatch
see I think that is much worse for her to be there and take the call
need mi 6 21 and the 7 after, unless plural
some people are so rude! trif
JMC, I find it hard to believe 19 people in this town were working two jobs. There are two sets of twins in his grade, and their parents were at the open house.
Might have been a progress report on an ailing parent or something, Trif?
She should have at least stepped out of the room.
I am just saying that we don't know what other calls are on people's time
mi + layers, like a wedding cake has them
Maybe jac, but could she not have excused herself and left the room quickly and quietly?
snap. car!
Mind you, I would have left the room to take the call, if that was the case.
Yes, Trif.
ty got it.
I think if you are busy and a parent TURN THE BLOODY PHONE off if their is someone speaking its rude
I agree herin.
hi, have been lurking and trif i have to comment on what you just said, i teach kindergarten and at my back to school night this year i had a parent on the phone for at least five minutes during my talk; i was in total shock
as the teacher, i would have said something like "and that's why your students aren't allowed to have their cell phones on during class."
got no problem with that rule herin!
lol lbd!
wtg!
exactly Dawger!
wow, angel! What would have happened if you had confronted her, or simply just stopped speaking and gave her the evil eye?
Trifs I sent you an email
mi 7 32 please second one?
Well, you could turn the 'phone off if you've left someone else to take calls for you about ailing parents/sick children etc.
okay herin. I will check it later, if that is okay. I only have about 30 minutes to babble today, and I really, really need this!
i was in such disbelief i had no idea what to say
It's stated in my syllabus, Unless you are and EMT or on fire patrol, turn off your cell phones. If it goes off during my class, you earn a Zero for the day.
COuld th eparent not leave the room to take the call
Hun that is ok. I just wanted to say I sented you one
I think maybe I would not have said anything. I think I would have just stopped talking, and stood there and looked at her, hoping the wait would clue her in
I'm sure that in most cases, the person answering their mobile is just rude. But there might be same cases where that is not the case.
superlative form of the one above it, mkg
ty got it.
no even if it is an emergency they can leave the room
oops missing me 7 32 second one. any clues out t here?
I have gotten calls from the hotline on my cell (or my son) and I only say "wait a minute" then leave the room and then talk
Most people just think they are self important, they live in their own world. being rude only happens to them, not them being rude to others. Stopping and waiting would not have bothered this person at all.
I was watching Lord of the Rings in the cinema and someone had their mobile phone on and it went off and they walked past me lets just say they didn't dare walk back to their seat
This is so interesting because tonight at dinner in a cafe my hubby's cell phone rang. I made him go outside to take it
jmc - I meant the fact that they'd left their mobile on (presumably in silent mode) might be excused. Then, they would wave a silent apology and leave the room.
We had not started eating yet - he was annoyed but I told him- No one else wants to hear your business
thank you DR!!! more people need to do that!
i did look at her and so did some of the other parents, but i had no words for it
when I am at a restaurant and I get a call I need to take I excuse myself from the table and go outside (or if it is too cold to the entrance) and talk
I was teasing a waitress when she asked if we had a preference for a dining area...i said "no cell phones, no crying children and not by the restroom"
os clue please?
Is the NO 7/32 built off the NO 5 before it? i can't seem to make it work...
Can I sit with you dawger?
o + anagram of sire, mkg
I read a story in the paper about a mom who was on a flight to LA with her children, and a porn producer was on the flight, and described the new film he was shooting, er, "blow by blow" in detail in huge voice into his cell phone. looooovely
it is Car- most of the no5 and then so4
anytime, DR
os = a willow branch used for making baskets etc.
yeah what really creeps me out is when some one is inthe restroom doing their ahem business and talking on the cell phone!
got it ty
Go LB. We have trained the wait staff at TGIF about where we want to sit

needdid you get it car.eeyore?
what is the gas name if not freon?
I thought the word for 'gas' was 'fart' not 'freon'. LOL
okay I give up fr5 either one!
lol jac
Freon is DuPont's trade name for its odorless, colorless, nonflammable, and noncorrosive chlorofluorocarbon and hydrochlorofluorocarbon refrigerants...
We have eon petrol stations here in UK, I think.
the fr5 old woman wanted fr5 produce, not french fr5

Herin - why do you waatch that TV if it annoyus you so much?
Once again she has had a puppy die of parvo, and another infected by it
I don't watch that tv.
She had on Barbra Streisand today
Because i was watching an article on the news
really? Parvo is awful!
Okay, well, Oprah doesn't often figure in UK news.
OK...just 5 more to go....
Yep. She has had 3 dogs so far get Parvo. It means her ''ranch'' is infected
Yes, Parvo virus is awful. But most dogs in UK are now vaccinated against that.
me too Car
And, if someone has a puppy farm/ranch, then excuse me if I get all JC like over that.
4 to go....all N's!
The dogs were vaccinated for their first shots. I am sorry it just makes me so mad.
No. I mean Ranch as in home

Trifs I think the term is school holidays.

oh. okay

Trif...you should hear the pitiful noises that Dante's stuff NO 4 is making! poor thing!
My answer to working out which drugs, shampoos etc., can be used on humans would be to actually test them on humans - like proven serial killers etc.
Oh and they say that once they have Parvo they are fine after when they survive. My friends dog has been horridly ill from having it as a pu. But that is also poor breeding *rescue*
Car do you have Dante?
they used to do experiments on humans in Germany
Yup!
awwwwwwwwwwww. Can you post pics of him please
and make lampshades from skin
ewwww Bab that is gross.
I can do it tomorrow...not proficient enough to do it now Herin!
BR - NO! That's a Nazi step too far.
they also did them on conscientious objectors in the U.S. during WWII
{it puts on the lotion....}
(not the lampshades though)

I'm going to get 'into trouble' in about 10 mins or so... either my other half or my son will come down here, see me on the internet again and 'tut'. I wish I was 20 again.
I am seriously looking at hiring a wheel chair for shopping tommorrow
Herin - why?? And doesn't our local supermarket provide them for free anyway??
Jac tut back at them
:-(
Because I am still sort of sick and its a pain in the ass and tiring just to walk to hall
Herin - Ido tut back, but they just find a way to make it wrong.
I stopped letting myself be "guilted" and so should you Jac
JustMar - I do try.
I tried too......now I just do!

Okay, when I met Beloved almost 7 years ago I made it clear to him that I was happy with only having 2 kids and that I didn't want any more... then his selfish, and self-obessed ex did what she did and so we now have his child in the frame. That might sound nasty and selfish of me. It isn't really and we're doing okay.
wow Jac
thanks on teh 9
But it isn't what any or the three of us wanted.
li4 li4, pants on fi4 :D

Hi Nonnie
wtg, nonnie, and greetings
hi nonnie
Oh, and I have now to try to mould the clueless kid (note, I didn't say stupid) that his ex 'had in the house' (note, I didn't say either 'mothered' or 'raised'). Note of self pity here, at 52, I was expecting some 'us time' for me and Other Half before we welcomed grandchildren.
well maybe you will have some me time yet
I doubt it now, jmc.
loves Jac
my mother's brothers were 16 and 15 when i was born. Of course we lived 650 miles away, so not much direct impact on them.
