100 down
The Z is pasta, nan
breaks out parmesan for met
as6 as well for that top corner a
pe8 or did you catch that one already?
nope...
haven't found that one yet
Thanks, ruru, but I hate parmesan
obviously a pasta I've never heard of!
asiago?
nan needs a pasta lesson
No, being of Italian heritage, I go for the Locatelli Romano every time (pecorino if there's no Locatelli)
oh,..I like pecorino
The short, baked tubes, Nan....
ty for the pe 8
can nearly get saltpetre
pe7 as well as 8
found the pasta, but have never heard of it before
working on the ar 5 now
Never heard of it? Nan, they even have it in Canada.....
we don't really have it over here, babble was the first I'd heard of it and we have a *lot* of pasta!
is it a brand name?
it is a type or cut of pasta nan.. we have had it before
sort of acne with an extra bit
No, it's a VERY common type; when you get an informal affair catered, inevitably there's a big pan of baked zi4
it's very uncommon here!
I went looking for it one day, and couldn't find it in a specialist pasta shop
why do people call me shortly after the flip?????
penne is close enough atalante
It's probably more common to the Italian community
penne we have :)
I've got 27 to go and really struggling now - is lickety here today?
around here you get a big pan of lasagna or cabbage rolls
lol this was an Italian pasta shop. Owned by an ITalian, importing directly from Italy
Lickety posted the clues
zi4 is often baked
ur 7 if not called
Penne are longer and cut on an angle.
or half baked as some say
ahh, so that's the u i'm missing - ty nan
I am missing one u.. have that one
all ur's, ruru
missing one as well, ruru
the one you're missing may be the vowelicious ur5
yep
that was it .. thank you josh
np - licket-aided fireworks for me. used it for the last 8. thesis writing compels me
licketY
still well done, josh
could someone clue the pe 8?

pe 8: what is added to potting soil to hold the moisture in

I need one more for nbt -- the upper left A -- any hints?
wow jilli, good for you
as 6/21 I think?
as6/21 and ar 5/10
yes, I know the count, dee, but . . .
ah, got the ar5 -- ty! NBT :)
fire produces as* + a fat for cooking ***d
I think someone said earlier it was a type of pasta... start with what is left after a fire has burnt out + first 3 letters of a bird known for singing
Thanks, buff :)
wtg jilli - that was fast
YW, Jili
thanks, dee! I think the pasta comes from the Z, upper right.

oh makes more sense thx jili

hi mrp :)
ty nite volley jilli
hi jilli :)
mrp...did you have a bet on the Cup...hubby got a third place
I certainly did diz :) I won!
wtg mrp
fireworks
well hugs to all... gotta get going... *poofing*
I actually went to a TAB and put $10 on the horse, picked it out myself without knowing a thing about it, except it was 4th favourite
bye Dee :)
woo hoo mrp...
YAY dee and bye!
ty and ta ta
its amazing you know....being here and remembering the effect of the cup...there is nothing like it here and england has such a long racing tradition...
The last time I bet on a race, was 3 years ago, it was a dog race and again I picked it cause it was 4th favourite. This dog was running on three legs, coming dead last, and all of a sudden out of no where, it was first place! I won a lot of money on that beasty
ive never been to or bet on the dogss...but loved going to the races
neither had I rolin, and never have since
its all over so fast...when i was a kid i used to live in caulfield ..near the track..and indeed my high school looked over the track...on race day we had a student who ran a book..lol
ineed he went into booking in qld...
rolin, you an ex aussie?
I am a non-gambler as it bores me, but by principle, I'll bet when I am out with friends at a betting fuction (one a year!)
Caulfield is a huge raceday!
yes diz...
How fantastic that would have been rolin! The Caulfield Cup is like the penultimate cup to the Melbourne Cup
diz, if you click on rolin's icon you'll see her bio ;)
it is... and we lied a walk from the track...which meant we could get dressed to the nines and walk there...but always came home to ppl parked across or in our driveway...grrr
*lived
rolin, that is like our place on Xmas eve... just don't expect to get into your garage! LOL!!
lol..one year a local residnt got so cross he went round letting down tyres...
well, that is very cross indeed!
too tired tonight, I'm very slow going, off to bed, be back in the morning, goodnight all
nite flosey
nite flosey
Well, seems there's nobody here to say goodnight to, but just in case -- goodnight! (36 left for tomorrow)
good night jilli! And hi all
ow lol... that is some time ago. Ah well, sweet dreams, dear jilli, anyway.
G'd morning Babblers! How's this grid?
I found 2 words already, hi Lori
I got rid of the a's. Gonna' do the e next, and vowels will be done. :/
hi all :) hi lori :)
ohhhhhh your icon and text.... roflollllll
Good morning!
mAta Hari!!!!!!!!!
lol... and ata too. You guys are bad
G'd morning Hazaurus.
hi Haz! Ok, someone should get the message
Not so much bad, as spoilt. :)
*grin*
don't we all look pretty :)
Bad? Us?
am literally laughing my pants off
LMAO :D
what's about the folding team, Ata? What do you fold?
Yes, I'm intrigued as well. Do we learn how to fold our arms as petulantly as possible?
oh, it's a crossy effort, stanford uni is using worldwide computers to process protein folding data for its medical research
good morning all :>)
hiya PJ!
What a shame. I can fold my arms better than I could fold protein data.
Mornin PJ
Good morning, P J.
I suggest adding a tapping foot, Haz
Yes, the tapping foot helps to set the tone, doesn't it?
well you can contribute that to the effort :)
and what does being part of a folding team involve?
oh yes. Also, pointing the eyes upwards.
not a lot lol, just letting your computer run the application when you're not using it
Okay, I'll fold and tap and frown and tut.
hiya sprite,lori and Haz :>)
ah I see. My computer is off when I don't use it. Will fold laundry and arms instead.
beautiful image, Haz
it sounds like you 3 are up to no good,I love it!!!
oh this is nice. Foreign currency on money symbol icon day. I like that.
As long as I am around, they will behave, PJ
would we? *innocence*
How have you been, P J?
I see! How is everyone?
Them? Behave? hahahahahahahahahhahah
I'm fine - wondering how FMitch's move went yesterday.
pretty good today. Sis and her little girl are ill though, so I will go there this afternoon to make them feel better.
I'm good just sorry summer is over and winter is comming on!
Silly Lori. They always behave. Sometimes good. Sometimes bad. Sometimes deplorable. But they do behave.
Them? Are you excluding yourself?
have been thinking of FM, I bet it went ok. Intensive, but ok.
great icons... don't you all look .... 'bitchy'
*sends PJ a box of canned sun and wrapped warmth*
I know. I never look forward to the winter either.
Is the flu as bad on your side of the pond as it is in the states?
***feigns innocence*** Of course mAta Hari!
I agree, mrP. Lovely icons.
P J - the flu is taking more of a hold, children being affected more than adults. There's a vaccination programme underway.
TY sprite I love it and will take all I can get!! :>)
Flu? Gee, if only there were some type of media coverage to fill us in .......
PJ, we thought it wasn't at all bad. But now some children, otherwise very healthy, have died of it and that is changing the rules pretty fast. They are trying to get the children ........ (not stabbed by needle, but you know what I mean) first now.
yes, it's bloody awful, I can vouch for that LOL
vaccinated, as Haz so eloquently put it
All of the schools in my area have been closed up.
How long do they have to stay closed?
wow, schools closing, that will affect most of society.
It's not as bad as that here, I haven't heard of any schools closing.
that is how it is here also! Very creepy is'nt it?
here neither
most of them 3-5 days.
This whole thing is being so hyped, the fear is palpable, and disproportionate.
everything threatening children is especially creepy. I told mine they haven't permission to get this flu. Or else.
I think a few closed here at the start of the outbreak
and you can actually survive swine flu. Really!
things were very low key here, Lori. But now that children have died, they are more serious about it.
Ata is the living proof. Well, proof anyway.
Children have died with past seasonal flu as well, it just wasn't front page news.
half living
They have been running the school closeings across the bottom of the TV screen just like they do for bad weather!!
People just need to step back and look at numbers instead of media bombardment, IMO. ***slides soap box to the left*** :p
not here, though. Small country. Deaths of children by flu is news here.
god I hate that kind of coverage. So glad we don't have that.
as long as it is the half with the brains, ata, you can play :)
mAta Hari shoould write a tell all survivor book. It'd make millions.
lol yes, it would. " How I survived swine flu. Part 1."
I'd outsell jordan. or maybe not
You could list the symptoms you did have and those you didn't and those which might just not have been discovered yet.
Things to look out for, that kind of thing.
and all remedies you tried, knowing and unknowing
I could discuss my daily diet
What you did eat, what you didn't eat, what you would have liked to have eaten, what you definitely didn't want to eat.
What color the sheets were in your sick room.
oh Ata, and don't leave out the part where a husband misgrudged you the cookies!
which, in the case of swine flu, is equal to an attempt on your life
how much of it, precisely
Being begrudged cookies probably lowered your immune system's defences, thus leaving you vulnerable to the flu.
What brand of tea you drank. there could be marketing potential there. No detail too small.
begrudge. Not misgrudge. I typed disgrudged first and corrected... into another wrong word
I have to say, it was quite strange, the days I was really ill, I was *starving* all day, which is kinda odd for flu. I guess I was burning up so many calories with temp and shivering that I just needed food
"Brand X tea cures swine Flue after 2-3 weeks"
I actually rather like misgrudge!
We knew what you meant, sprite!
not just the brand, Lori, I think? Exactly when, how often and how much. God and health are in the details.
Feed a fever, starve a cold, isn't it, Ata?
True sprite. With sugar? Milk? Black? As I said. No detail too small.
morning all....
thanks for educating me, though :) I do appreciate it. And I do remember.
In a mug or in a china cup?
G'd morning FishFish
Good morning, Fish.
Hi Fishes
I can never remember! but usually when I'm feeling awful, I hate eating. Not this time!
and stirred in how many circles? Clockwise or anti-clockwise?
lolol sprite
that is why it is called swine flu, Ata. It makes you eat like a pig.
LOL I *was* beginning to wonder!
how not to get it"don't sleep with a pig" tee hee
lol PJ
TY~~~~:>)
***random comment*** I have decided there are only 3 u words.
ha ha ha ha
** random reaction ** I hate it when etui and etwee are phantoms
relate
oops
I guess that is why I am safe, PJ. My husband isn't a pig at all. He is a darling.
could you please post real words, PJ. Tsk.
good girl!
;)
gah silverclaw! stop trying to help!
isn't she the one with the brain, Ata?
Cats are always helpful. Stop being mean.
good point
Starting to not like this grid
that might be mutual.
Sily loves it
Sily is a genius, so that's to be expected.
so far I think it is a sweet grid. But hey, that's only me.
she certainly thinks she is
she looks like one as well
sometimes
her grandfather was Schrodinger's Cat, you know
of course, with a brilliant photographer like you, all cats could look lilke geniuses.
ooo I like flattery
I know
lol! :)
*tells Lori there are 4 U words*
Unpossible! 3, 3 I say!
and a ur7
now don't overdo it, Ata!
vooooowels, lori
I have 3 ur's, one of which is a 7. ***smug*** There's only 3!
hmmm I haven't got the 7 yet
U5/5
ok, 5 it is, thanks for the 7, Ata
there are bear words
Doh! Bear words. Gah
Why do I torture myself with this game. ***sigh***
bear.... hibernation.... hmmmmmm good idea.
because you love it
Lori, that is called masochism. Not sure if there's a possible treatment for that though.
Bears. I mean seriously, how obvious was that? ***sigh***
as obvious as the stars in the sky
Hush ! Leave me to suffer the indignity quietly.
nothing like a Dipper or two to show you are a Densa member, Lori.
Humbling .
Great lack of bears though
Lori? HUmble?
I meant mumble.....
oh Lord, it's hard to be humble when you're perfect in every way...
I knew there was a reason humble didn't enter into my vocab
hmmmmmmm
Is that P J mumbling or agreeing?
***awaits clarification*** :)
agreeing :0)
brb tea needed
:D
Whar kind of tea? Post Flu recovery marketing....
Okay, so there are 12 s's, I'll cede that point.
It's bound to be vitamin enriched tea. It stands to reason.
going back to bed still sleepy.cul :0)
stirred, not shaken. 5 2/3 circles clockwise.
Sleep well, P J. Nice to see you around again!
Sleep tight PJ
TY~~~~~~~lol
night PJ, sweet dreams
Fairtrade Earl Grey
I'll be accused of entrapment if I point out the ea4/4.
oh POO
lol
now she is telling. Fairtrade. No wonder you got cured.
lollll
fireflies. I don't think you smart guys want any clues, or do you?
but seeing as I have Silverclaw, grand-daughter of Schrodinger's Cat, no-one can ever tell whether I'm in the PB or not. So I'm not
WTG Sprite.
I'm fine, sprite, thanks.

hello, Scrabbler
scrabbler! why would someone be sick (stomach) one day, totally fine for two days, then sick again?
Greetings Scrabs, BR hurshy and Marc
ruling out kid avoiding school, i mean.
hey fm
Hello, FM
If you challenge your GI tract too much after recovering from a virus--can puke again.
TY BR got it
ahhh. so the second round shouldn't last more than a day either?
Virus causes an ileus (intestines sort of "go to sleep" and don't move things along.) Also, lining of small intestine (the villi) get wiped out so the ability to digest/absorb food products is disrupted for days to weeks.
You need probiotics--supplement or yogurt.
Hi Fm
Hi Scrabs, hurshy
hi FM
well *i'm* fine - it's hubby this time.
Hi Wolvie!
but ok, i have probiotics. what should he avoid in the next few days, then, and what is ok to eat?
took a doggie break there for a bit. :-)
morning..sighboth kid and wife are sick this time and my ears are snapping and popping which is not a good sign, and we were supposed to get our shots today:((
Poor yogurt into him. Did he have vomiting & diarrhea?
Hi Crossy.
oh my - good morning crossy. Hope it gets better soon
yes to the first, not sure about the second - he didn't mention any.
Crossy, it appears that Billy will not survive his battle vs cancer + chemotherapy.
awe crossy sorry to hear that.
by everyone I have to go I have 49 left, I will come back later to finish. Thanks for all the clues, though have a great day one and all.
:( billy :(
bye Marc
be well, Marc
sorry to hear about Billy
sad to hear that Scrabs
:( my prayers go out for billy and his family scrabby. It,s sad indeed when one of our cancer warriors are called home, but each time the doctors learn a bit more and billys fight will not be in vain.once again god bless to him and his family in this difficult time
So sad when chemo effects lead to death although the cancer is retreating.
crossy - folding proteins as we speak.
It proves again how vital our immune system is on a daily basis---having no white blood cells to battle can be fatal.
as am i wolvie
:-)
ahh looks like i get to start a new protien;)
woot!
And a 15 yr old girl at my nephew's high school here succumbed to swine flu on Sunday. So much death recently. It's overwhelming.
wow scrabs - I am sorry to hear that
we had a 15 year old boy pass here the other day from h1n1 scrabbs
And 4 local teens died in a car crash Sunday. :-(
lots of h1n1 around - it's scary and tragic
Yes, and so random, seemingly, in its deadliness.
At first I though pe6 (metal) was a phantom but it's really there
yep - winds right back on itself. :-)
At 25/108 I must get ready for work. Enjoy the day!
tc scrabby
bye scrabs

Morning kiddies

NOW I am Nbt!
My God! What awful words.
I am such a ritualistic being. are any of you that way? Everyday when I sign on to babble, first I have to go to the breast cancer site and click to donate a free mammogram. THEN I come on here and start the grid, always from the top left. then I go through the grid until I have NBT, and THEN I can chat. Today I cheated on the nbt thing, a little
not quite that bad on the nbt, but same type of stuff for starting the day. :-)
I do the puzzle in the same way, yes.
i guess I find comfort, or at least surety in my little rituals.
well, except for the mammogram thing - I want to try to remember to click to donate every day, and doing it before I babble gives me permission to loaf in babble land, in some weird way
nbt after breakfast. Puzzle at lunch and afternoon. Hard words after dinner. If I have time.
oh, that's a good way to do it, hego!
kadresa does the grid alphabetically
i can see that trif. :-)
thanks wolvie. I also know some people that do the grid one tile at a time, complete it, and then move on
once I get the list I go by the alphabet.
You have to have some organization.
need right column T for NBT, and good morning all
hi sue
te 5 and 6 - a type of figure, say
when I first started babbling, I was OBSESSED and had to finish it every day. Giving it up for LEnt last year was one of the best things I ever did. now I can live with just nbt on some days, or just doing my best. last night I fell asleep with 10 words to go. not my favorite thing, of course, but I can live with it.
ti5/6 crown
oh - lol - a fish really - sorry - where is ata?
NBT
okay, i give, what's NBT
no blank tiles, IIRC
no blank tiles
hi tc
atleast one word for each tile
ahhhh, thank you
tc, it means "no blank tiles" which is to say, one word from each of the tiles, but I prefer to think of it as "naughty bits tingling" :)
good afternoon everyone

morning all, in the middle of cleaning, taking a quick break
hi peri
transit system is on strike here
Hello, peri
I am in the grid again today!
trif, I was making a phone call and came back just in time for your interpretation of nbt. LOL!
cute story: I brought my kiddos over to car.eeyores' house yesterday, and we all trenched in and painted the kitchen and the hallway walls while her husband is away on a biz trip. we SWORE her little boys to secrecy, but last night, when her hubs called home to say hi, her littlest boy got on the phone and said "hi daddy! I am not going to talk to you about the walls!" SO FUNNY! I don't think he copped on, though....
lol trif, very cute
painting is one of my favorite home-y things to do. everything looks so clean and fresh, so quickly. it cheers up a home so quickly.
The innocence of little kids, I love it.
trif, you're our own Martha Stewart.
oh, hardly, hego! if you saw my own pile you would see the truth
but I appreciate the kind thought, thank you!
ye, trif
I mean yw
I understood :)
woot! greyed the u. whew!
I sense that you share my fear of vowel words, trif
I think maybe I do, hego. yet another thing babble has taught me!
Doea anyone have the z? Is it a common word?
hego, think pasta
it is, hego - little pasta tubes
It is a form of pasta.
31 left, time to go for a bit, will be bck later, have fun and fireworks everyone
Jeez, how easy. ty annie

Good morning everyone
Hi sea. We seem to be here at all hours.

there's no c in here sea.
lol good thing
Did any of you get to see jmc print her entire word list in the chat box yesterdy. She was in the pb for hours.
lol i did
NO WAY!!!! how did she do that? oh, the poor thing!
i don't know but I'm going to ask her. It was very helpful, however.
probably going to bulk add to lickety, but put it in the chat log instead....lol
Very funny.
now we all have something new to live in fear of doing ourselves....
it's even funnier when someone does it with a 300+ grid :P
bye for now guys bbl
have a good day, hego
poor jmc--- bet she is still blushing
bye hego
bye hego
good morning everyone
hi Annie, hi Babblers.. opening chat .. hi flosey!
Hi Aloy, we seem to be missing each other
morning Aloy
confess to lurking lately.. schedule was kind of hectic, but aaah, much better for a few days now
mornin babblers!
hello EvaN
morning Eva
oh gosh, I shouldn't say this, but flosey your pic looks remarkably like - how to say this - male anatomy in small view!
lol, Ata, now that you mention it..
i don't know flosey well enough....thanks for pointing that out ATA!
lol ata
could be our dirty minds.
lol Ata,
Good morning, all. Ata, I see your mind is in the gutter, as usual.
hadn't noticed!
*grins*
sorry sorry but it *does*!
have to agree now that you point it out
am farsighted, so I had to click for a better view.. interesting about the money toad, flosey!
and yes, very interesting, never heard of money toads
thanks Aloy, I chose it because I thought it was attractive - LOL, what does that make me?
a woman of .......... wonderful colors
Two words left and both re's
lol
well, I'd say you notice lovely colors (-:
ti
Timing is good on the money toad. It is a full moon now.
still have 6 re words to go, working on them now
Morgen, inge
full moon, i am going to take my empty purse out on the deck, open it up, and say, 'fill it up, fill it up, fill it up."
wonder if I could get the bathtub out there??
If only it were that easy, snags.
good luck, snags! lol, let me know it it works!
lol
as long as it isn't raining Pennies from heaven
it worked for myh hubby, he received an unexpect refund.......... from the doctor's office of all placesl.
Pffth. Pennies. Chump change.

now
mind and fingers do not work together.......... sigh
I do not like re's but I am done.

Congrats, Annie!
greetings, BabbleRabble!
congrats annie
Judi, your icon always makes me smile
good morning BR
hello, folks
Thanks, Annie. :)
I am going to put together a meatloaf and put it in the fridge to start later. Anyone want a clue before I head out?
no, but thanks, Annie.. am almost done
Morning, BR.
Bye dear babblers.
you can save me a piece of that meatloaf.. bye for now, Annie!
thanks for the idea Annie, love meatloaf and haven't made it in ages
lol. I just monkied the ur7. I have no idea what it means - even after I read the dictionary definition.
good morning
me either, flosey.. it IS a great idea!
leftover meatloaf sandwiches, yum
morning, harp
you're really making my mouth water now Aloy
Good morning, Harpjane!
with ketchup
no no no, don't like that red stuff - only keep it on hand for making baked beans
ah, Grieg's piano concerto in A minor.. has me all revved up
FIREWORKS! woot woot
WTG Trif
yahoo for Trifioso!!!
and before breakfast too! (where is that kid!)
love that music Aloy, remember buying the record for my mother well over 50 years ago
and now Brahm's Academic Festival Overture.. wow, great start to the day.. love NPR
what is NPR?
National Public Radio
congrats trif
Way to go Trif!
ah, probably equivalent to our CBC
we are lucky to have a number of NPR stations, so a choice of classical music.. at 10am, Dianne Rehm show for discussions on current issues.. good stuff
could someone tell me how many letters in the corner A please?
ar5 and as6 harp
we have one NPR station and some folks are up in arms because they took away Car Talk!
thanks alo
yw.. those syndicated shows are expensive, so if there is not enough local support $$$ wise, some shows have to be chopped.. as you know, NPR depends on donors
GASP! Who would do such a cruel thing? Car Talk is the best show on public radio.
I can live without them but they ARE amusing, aren't they?
.. and you can learn a bit of helpful info. I wouldn't believe my hubby when he told me it made no difference on the octane you put into the car until I heard the same on Car Talk.. saves $$$
my car gets better mileage with the mid grade octane
howdy geek! how much better?
do we have any babblers in NYC?
Eva, I think Annie qualifies, but she is making a meatloaf right now
a couple of miles per gallon - my subaru is 11 years old and i still get 27 on the highway
If your engine pings, sometimes a higher grade gasoline will cure it.
that's what I heard, Judi.. so I listen for pinging, but so far.. no ping
im gonna be in NYC for an overnight next week + i was looking for suggestions either on (1) somewhere to stay or (2) somewhere to go/something to do
fireworks.. now I have to go play "beat the garbageman" and get stuff out to the curb.. Happy Babbling, all.. see you next grid! Pax. BR, if you are still here.. (-:
Broadway, Eva! Recommend you see either "The Producers" or "Spamalot". I think they're both still playing.
lemme rephrase -- something CHEAP to do... heh
spring for it Eva, you won't be sorry!
Oh. Uh... panhandling? Otherwise, Central Park Zoo. Best to get online and search for cheap deals.
the conservatory at Central Park is nice
(at least it was, 35 years ago.... I keep forgetting that I never go anywhere any more!)
In the 70's when I went to NYC I would go to movies, since they would not be released in Montana for 6 months!
Ferry ride out the Statue of Liberty isn't too expensive.
harp -- any other time i would, since i LOVE the theater. but alas, my trip is to look for wedding dresses and i need to save up money for said wedding...
the Macy's women's restroom has a nice lounge and very interesting people! lol
bronx zoo is great
Spamalot is sooo amazing
Riding the subway is always an adventure.
I have a friend who just saw Shreck the Musical and loved it!
lol, thanks all. ;)
Ride the subway in a wedding dress. You'll fit right in.
ar5?
Would be interesting to meet up with Annie and any other babblers who live in the area?
Ata... are you in Manhattan?
different country :P
Oh, ok... sounded like you were in Manhattan.
we do get the occasional show over here ;)
where are you?
ar + not short (almost) harp
south east UK
OK... it used to be I could roll over the flag and it would tell me where someone was... but it does not do that anymore.
I am 15 minutes from Manhattan in NJ
Clue for Sa7, please?
to have enough Judi
NM. I just found it. Duh.
mom, just point at the flag, it would then show you what country
hello all, taking a break from cleaning
peri... it does not work for me anymore... I don't know why.
Hiya, Peri!
Also... my print is now so small on my screen... something is wrong with my computer, LOL.
:(
roll over the flag? huh?
would love to go to NYC, but saving for a car. but will check the mega bus or something like that
Rollover, Bethoven?
49 left, not an easy grid for me
I used to get there more often.
82
I find this grid difficult... only down to 60 and have been at it for some time.
Morning all. Peri, where are you? We have the mega bus here in the Twin Cities to go to Chicago and Milwalkee; didn't know it went elsewhere
Hiya, Nef!
Phila
not sure but think it goes from Balt to NYC
morning Judi. How are you today?
I"m trying to get 1030 in "who's hot" so I have to get every grid for 30 days. I think I have jlust five or six days to go.
My sister used to live in Philly... she took the train home all the time... definitely one from Philly that comes in to Grand Central (probably at least daily).
I've told DH that one of these days we are going to take the mega bus to Chicago
go harp!!
harp, you can do it! Keep on keeping on! :-D
there is a less expensive way to to go NYC, go to Trenton then take the NJ train to NYC. At least this was available 10years ago
would be faster than the bus
That may be how my sister did it... I don't know, but I know she took the train to Grand Central.
don't know whether to go now or wait a while and go to see the xmas decorations
brb
Nothing like Christmas in NY!
Fireworks, last word sa7
for DH and myself, the round trip tickets for the mega bus to Chicago would be $40.00. There can't be anything cheaper than that in the US
flosey... to have enough
From where Nef? Minneapolis/St Paul?
finished mom, just saying what my last word was
WTG, flosey! YAY!!!!
is the 8 a compound word?
sorry flosey I misunderstood
no harp... it means to have enough related to the sa4/4
yes, mom. Even driving would cost more than that for 2 tanks of gas
np mom, thanks for clue - someone will pick it up
Yeah... that's a good deal!
could someone clue the sa 7?
It costs me $6.90 to get to manhattan from 15 miles away, LOL.
ruru.. see my clue to harp at 9:25
harp the 8 is a bosc + Miller ****
mom just did ru, to have enough - or even more so
Pe8: shiny additive to top soil.
That's $6.90 round trip.
that's still a good price though, Mom
16 left. Time for a break. BBL.
it would cost more than that to go 15 miles by public transportation in Montana, cuz I would have to hire a cab!
thanks judi
68
OMG Harp... yes!
off to have breakfast, have a good day all, be back for flip
I'm not understanding the pe8 clues...
bbl flosey
LOL! WHAT Public transportation in MT, harp? (I do think I've seen city buses in Msla and Billings, though. Right?
imagine a fruit with an electric bulb mom
that's kind of my point, nef
fruit * Bud low cal beer, ****
got it.
mom, pe 8= the white oyster beads and a mineral ending
Actually it is a beautiful day here... my kid is off, so I am taking them to the mall for a little while... I should have taken them into the city (probably would have cost me less in the end... LOL).
finally got the sa 7 Smacks head
ok... am off to the mall... ugh!
harp; to live in the best places in the world (in our own opinions) we all make sacrifices; don't we? I think that the Twin Cities are the best place in the world; you probably think that MT is. We all have to deal with some sort of "hardships" to do that
yup to that nef, and they all have down sides too
as 6 please?
sorry ruru i don't have it yet
remains of fire + 3/4 of cooking fat
thanks
as
as
hiccups...sorry
thank you
yw
re---
what part of the twin cities, Nef? i used to live in Robbinsdale
(sorry, was off getting dressed) I live in Shoreview, kalea
nice area, out there
I'm in the southern end; near all the lakes (Lake Josephine, Lake Owasso, Lake Wabasso, Island lake etc.
when i moved, it was getting pretty well built up in that area
It's nice and quiet here and is close enough to everything that I can be in either downtown MPLS or St. Paul in less than 12 minutes
we live in a 1950's neighborhood; still have about a third of the original owners living on our street.
that's nice......lol, that was the hardest getting used to living here.............it's at least an hour to get anywhere here
what part of BC are you in?
guess what crossy,s cookin..hehe
BACON, crossy?
southeast.....just above Idaho
it's pretty though, isn't it?
Not BACON by any chance?
I'm done, any clues needed?
it's gorgeous......i wouldn't go back to the city for anything
im about 3 hours from a city and that is far enough..almost;)
where are you kalea?
That's good that you like it; but (like I said earlier) we all have to deal with a hardship to live where we do!
lol cross.......that's how far it is to Spokane, the nearest city.........Calgary is 4 hours
i'm in Cranbrook, BC cross
no clues needed then?
im collingwood ontario
I'm off bye
DH says he has a dentist appt. in 20 minutes; so I'm going to go now. BBL; Happy Babbling everybody! :-)

Bug - true!
But the Babble monkeys can work wonders when you don't.

the monkles aren't giving me the last pe6. help?
last pe6 = type of metal

hello everyone -- back for the last 40 :)
hi nan ;)
I'd better go to sleep soon; I've got an hour of chopping up ingredients for green tomato chutney and about 2 and a half hours of cooking time, plus bottling time to do when I get up. Then I have about 2 hours' worth of ironing to do.
Hi cybernan.
wow, jac...busy busy busy...don't work too hard!
Autumn is a busy time, Pink, plus we've just come back from a week away on holiday.
nice, jac...hope you had a great time ;)
Hi cybernan! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid

oooh, got the first one...
Sometime soon, I also need to empty the freezer of the bulk of the soft fruit crop by making blackcurrant jam, blueberry jam, bramble (blackberry) jelly and gooseberry and ginger jam. I'll need some room for a Christmas turkey in there! I also need to make marmalade (both orange and lemon) since we've run out. My marmalade has Jameson's whiskey in it and it's 'wicked'.
sounds wiked jac
wow, jac...you really are one busy lady!!! I'm lucky to make anything "homemade" anymore...
Jac, would you share the marmalde recipe, please?
The second tw 5/20 is like the first, change the vowel
Hello joey! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle

hi joey
{{{{joey}}}}
hi al. chemo has me down today, but it is better than the last one.
Joey - most of the time I don't bother with all the cutting up of oranges but use a pre-prepared base product. http://tinyurl.com/ykygeck
The chemo may get you down, but not out. It wont kill you, just the cancer
oh, gosh, sorry to hear, joey; hope it gets better soon!
Don't know if you can get that in the USA?
If not, I can tell you how to make it from scratch, but not tonight.
thanks for the reminder. sometimes i just want to whine a little
thanks, Jac. i will check that out.
whine away joey!
Joey - given what you have been and are still going through, I think you have the right to 'whine'.
i did. only takes me a moment, then i get over it.
:-) good for you joey
you guys really pump me up........ it is good to be here
first ur5/12?

joey - you may or may not find this funny... My partner's Mum, who had a breast removed last year due to Paget's disease of the nipple (a form of cancer that didn't show up on the mammogram she had not long before) was due for another mammogram last week. We discussed how uncomfortable thee procedure is. 'Oh well,' she said. 'At least I've only got to have half of one!'
Have to get up extra early tomorrow (5:30) for work
Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow
Jac, i sure do see the funny in that, i did it for 14 years. had a mastectomy of the left in 1995.

Dormez Bien, Min. x
Joey - so you've had a double mastectomy now?

Any hope of reconstruction in the future, or aren't you bothered? Partner's Mum didn't go for one.

I hate to admit this in public but i love to sunbath topless. feels so good. at this point, i don't feel comfortable in public doing that
oh, sorry, jmc...

Last we4/8 is a water thing. A fence or a dam.
or we + when I'm mad, I'm **ate
ty jac and pini
joey - no shame in that. You do whatever it takes to make you feel comfortable again.
i just haven't decided yet. something will be done though, either taking out the implant on the left or adding the right and fixing the left
Just make sure you get plenty of sunblock on the new ones when you get 'em, Joey!
i think i am going to hit the hay
go pini go!
the good thing is that Texas insurance allows for all types of reconstruction
oh, jmc...did you finish??
how many?
Sleep well, jmc.
but the skin will be the same and that is tanned even now
no 55 left just tired from a 12 hours drive and have a hearing in the am
oh my...well, you've done great!!! now get some sleep, girl!!! :)
I'll finish for us both!!! :)
probably won't get here at all tomorrow
bye all! *waves*
nite
My partner's Mum got a right chest that was tanned deeply at the top and lily white at the bottom after her mastectomy.
that is too funny........ but you are right. the underneath might be white.
No nipple on it, for obvious reasons. You can have a new one made, even one that feels, but that does mean some butchering of other sensitive parts.:-(
i had one made, they took the skin from the inside of my leg.............
Was that one that 'feels', Joey? 'Cos from research I've done, you need labial shavings to get that.
welcome to the club, joey -- I have one and a half boobs as of nearly 10 years ago and the one keeps getting bigger so I'd kinda like to get it shrunk!
no, no feels. i wasn't given the option in 1995, i wonder if that will come up now
Partner's Mum, being older, just asked his Dad, 'Will you still love me if I've only got one boob?' and looked no further than that. And, of course he still loves her.
Jilibus, that is very understandable. i had the same situation
Seems it's quite common!
Hi Jilli. I suppose you could have the bigger one's extras moved to the smaller ones?
Jac, that is very wise.
Nah, jac, can't really be bothered at my age ;)
Anyway, I prefer the size of the smaller one.
I hope I may digress for a moment. I am a reader, when the novel the Valley of the Dolls came out many years ago, one of the women in the "harem" went for a biopsy, the leader of the harem saw the bandage and went ballistic. the woman got the cancer diagnosis and committed suicide. For some reason that stuck with me all these years. I remember thinking then what a shallow man, and I still feel that way
I'm very fond of my boobs. They've not troubled me yet (other than growing pains when they were announcing their arrival), they're not too big or too small. I'd miss them if I didn't have them, so, I would go for a reconstruction and I'd like 'nipples' but not sure about feeling ones if it means having bits shaved off my other nice place.
joey, thank goodness times and most men have changed
I read Valley of The Dollls back in the 70s butt don't really remember it. I can only echo what Jilli just posted.
what a time to enter the chog...lol
Sorry, ruru! Hello.
ruru, you are ok, i am done
However, if anyone needs bits off my stomach or thighs... just ask.
btw, joey I had three nodes cancerous, had radiation, no chemo, tamoxifen for 5 years, now femara, so far so good.
good for you. congratulations
I could also spare a small amount of flesh from my buttocks. LOL
sorry, ruru! I was hoping no innocent male would arrive, but that's ok, you're not innocent, lol!

MrP - http://tinyurl.com/yr92h5 LOL
Oh Jilli what an image! I will never forget that word now
wish I could!!!!....
lol, bugs!
my god that is an old video jac!
Yup - but it's the Black Country version of Christmas, MrP. And My Guy's Black Country.
And it's also the firt Christmas song we hear on the radio and in the shops.
I'm not even thinking about Christmas yet, other than having fed the 4 Xmas cakes with booze earlier.
ok...down to 1
We're still doing the major de-junk of the house and that takes precedence for now.
la 5/12?
la5 = girl's name
the first song I hear was 'have yourself a very merry xmas'....
http://tinyurl.com/5js49d Steeleye Span Christmas song, In Latin.
then... 'rudolph the red nose reindeer'... argghhh!
ty pini
yvw ;)
I'm still on Gaudete - we sang it in the choir.
http://tinyurl.com/yzs3ose another song we sang.
firewords!!!!
http://tinyurl.com/yzl8khv and another.
Well done, Pini.
need anything else, nan?
thx jac! :)
going to check email...back shortly
Jac that Gaudete was terrific!
I think our headmistress (who was old in the late 60s/early 70s) loved a German soldier. Whatever the truth is, is taught us all tolreance, but not to stay quiet if injustice was being done.
Bug - glad you liked it.
tw 5/18? -- 2nd one?
just distributed 3 dozen eggs around to various neighbours... these chickens just don't give up!
nm -- found it
*!* ta da *!*
http://tinyurl.com/cjyy35 More Steeleye Span folks song stuff.
MrP - I'm still musing over getting 2 or 3 chickens.
How many chickens have you got?
ar5 clue please
ar + not short
ar5 ar + not short, minus last letter
hi everyone
sorry jac, was just finishing up here... we have 5 chickens... I remember having 6 but lickety made a small error
ty Flosey- I should know that one!
"small error"?
yw DR
hi flosey ;)
pini beat me to that clue though
*small error*... didn't lock the chickens up one night... fox
hi flosey
hi Pini, nan
jac, I've been enjoying Gaudete and Stille Nacht -- always wanted to see the German words so have bookmarked it. My mother and her sisters were fluent in German although they were Brits but I never learned the language.
hi flosey :)
Oh, I was thinking it wasn't supposed to be for your dinner; guess it was someone else's. ;)
hi flosey
oh- ty Pini!
hi Jilli
np...if a clue helps, doesn't really matter where it comes from, right? * grin *
well, we now have another friend of nature coming around... a goanna... and that thing is so big, it would eat all the eggs in the boxes and wash them down with a chicken!!
hubby took German in school instead of French because it was easier
j8illi - glad you've enjoyed some of my music!
yikes!
right Pini
yep : )
Er, flosey -- nice icon, but a day early! I'm just going to change mine to the Nov 4 theme -- Pharaohs :)
lucky enough, they are creatures of habit... goannas... and come at the same time. So I ensure the dog is out there to greet it :D
I watched that video Jac, beautiful
flosey - glad you enjoyed it.
lol Jilli, I'll just stay with this one and be early tomorrow
Is anyone here familiar with Belgian history?
MrP - can't have another dog yet 'cos the cat thinks he's a tiger and repels all comers, including dogs.
not me nan, have friends there though
I know what you mean jac... our cat chases kangaroos down through the bush... she is crazy
All I want is 3 Burford Brown hens, maybe another female cat and a dog.
guess I'll have to do a google search for the info I want
a cat chasing a Kangaroo must be interesting to watch MRP
MrP - you must viedo that scenario sometime.
oh indeed!! we have black chickens... they are adorable believe it or not!!
the wallabies and kangaroos come up in the evening to dine on the front lawn... jessie (cat) don't like any animals on her lawn
Is red spider mite a problem in Aus., MrP? Apparently it is here in UK.:-(
red spider mite? what is this you speak of?
mrp, I guess your kangaroos are like our dear deer neighbours
all our chickens come to us for cuddles
I'd like to have a couple of indoor guinea pigs, too. But ce'st impossible due to le chat!
awww! sweet chickies!
nice code there jac!
red spider mites invade UK chicken houses and make the chucks ill, apparently.
yes jilli... without food in the bush, they have to come up here to eat
ahhhh, like mites and lice and such
Yup!
we don't have mite problems cause we spray every three months, but we have bush rat problems.... which leads to snake problems... and as Australia has 9 deadly snakes, we are more worried about the rodents
a little mite ain't gonna kill us!
More worried about the rodents? What about the 9 deadly snakes?
but a big brown or black snack, or red-belly or copper-head.... would rather concentrate on rodent removal
no rodents, no snakes!
I'd be terrified to grub about in my garden if I was In Aus!
jac! we wear protective clothing!
New icon and write-up posted
You haven't mentioned the spiders yet, funnel-webs for starters...
oh, didn't want to frighten you off ... yes, spiders are a delight here
did I mention protective clothing?? have to put on a space suit to garden
Yuoi have to go out into your garden waring protective clothing? Is NZ less hazardous? I've always thought it looked greener and more welcoming.
NZ is lovely!
Jilli - I must b a day behind on the icon themes. I thought it was money today?
money day?
MrP - you're pulling my plonker, aren't you? But I'd still prefer NZ, even though it is 20 years behind and has statues of 2-headed people on benches.
jac, money symbols was Nov 3. Pharaohs is Nov 4. Guy Fawkes is Nov 5.
That's not to say I don't want to visit Aus.
not pulling your chain hun... long sleeves, long pants, long boots, elbow gloves etc... we are talking 'deadly' here
today is 4th
Jilli - thanks. I've been so busy since we got back off holiday that I hardly know what day or date it is.
jac, you can visit us, and I won't have you gardening or collecting the eggs ok? :D
Can I come too, mrp?
But... I want to do the hen thing, MrP! Howevr, any bbq'd steaks will be very welcome so long as they're not kangaroo. We tried those and didn't like them.
Can I come with Jilli and play Black Sabbbath loud to her? LOL
jilli! have alread set up the granny flat for you!! Own lounge, dining, bedroom, closets and huge bathroom!! When are you coming???
* stowing away in luggage *
O gawd!
Tee Hee!
That O gawd was re Black Sabbath
* thankful I'll be in the luggage compartment far away from BS *
wow, mrp -- that's tempting!
I guessed that, Jilli.
you have the whole ground floor of the house to yourself here!
glad to hear that, pini
we have 4 levels.... and the kids are on the 4th level!!
=)
ru 4/6 ?
=)
Wanna share that, pini?
ru4 = fast
But she must have Black Sabbath music piped in at least once, just for me, MrP!
huh? share what?
ru4 -- Mr Limbaugh
the whole ground floor of mrp's house, pini
oooh, sounds lovely!!!!!
hello all, not playing, just stopping by for a round of hugs and choclit
ty
if the stairs are too much from the ground floor, the elevator is comfortable
hi stiddie!
hi stid! :))
hiya stid ;)
You can make it 'Laguna Sunrise', MrP, so it's not painful at all for her.
ground floor, stairs, elevator, good friends, etc...what more could we ask for!
my goodness, mrp, that sounds like some mansion!
the elevator will take you too the 3rd floor... the kids have to walk up to their rooms
seems like a lovely home, mrp
Elevator in a private house?
well, I believe that children should have to suffer
I'm gone. Too much for me.
You don't call it a lift, mrp?
anyway, time to turn in. Long days are not my favorites. (((hugs all))) see you-all tomorrow. *poof*
night jac!
night stid ;)
bye too soon, stid!
I have a headache...but holding out for the flip!
no, I say elevator
I hope somebody else will post pharaohs! I's like to learn about more of them.
a 4 level home needs an elevator
interesting, mrp. Thought Oz was more brit.
we have these houses here that have elevators to the house from the street!!
our house is 4 levels and we just have stairs :)
jilli, I went to a brit school
My house is 1 (no stairs)
we said lift in Shanghai ;)
