I use Babble Expert in a weird way...first I log into regular babble because it keeps my name and password whereas expert doesnt.....

then when I need the list I open Expert and for some reason I'm already logged into it automatically

but one of the whole points of Expert is the Lickety Add box, where if you type one word it goes to clues automatically and more than one word goes to chat

In Expert I have the reg babble screen showing for about 2/3 to 3/4 of the screen size and clues the rest....I type then in the babble area then just click send words to clues

tonight was diff justy....when i clicked lickety's clues...the page didnt open...i had to click where it says if you can't see the clues...then it opened with different colors....something about an html page

In Expert I have the clues open on the left, and the grid and chat on the rest of the screen. It has wroked exactly the same way today as at any other time, but on the other hand I've had it open all day. Maybe something changed later on.

I have the right side reserved for morewords. To get them I go up to Resources, where it's listed. I click on it and it automatically opens on the right and partly covers the chat. I can adjust the size by moving the vertical yellow line or close it temporarily by clicking on the dots in it.
I'm surprised you don't use the "BabbleDabble" jilli...
Well, I'm going to head for bed so I'll take a chance and shut down again, then open up and see what's what here.

I don't see why that would be any different, justy, but I'll try. Damn. Expert was so perfect! It's not toally broken, though -- morewords still works.

log out...if that doesn't work then try reboot

that's the way I did it this evening and it's all good except for colour
let's get the terminology straight. Log out would be to go to the little red letters, top right, so that coming back would mean using the password etc. Shutting down (to me) means closing the page with the little x. Rebooting means closing down the computer and restarting it.
first try log out... if that doesn't work then try rebooting...if you just shut down it is not necessarily logging out...
OK, I logged out, logged back in (I had cleared the cache) -- same result -- the clues are on a separate page, not part of Expert, and transfers don't work.
I'll try rebooting but don't expect any better result.

Yes, did it all, but nothing changes. Lickety's list opens on a separate page and is not connected with Expert. Maybe you haven't been using it the same way as I have so it seems the same to you.
I don't know what to tell you jilli....I always open regular babble....do as much as I can...then open up expert for the list....that is what I did tonight....got that grey box, clicked open and all is the same (except for colour)

Justy, you definitely use things very differently from the way I do. I never need to open regular babble because it's all part of Expert -- everything on one page. Are you sure you're using Expert?

don't know if this will help but it worked on my computer at work earlier this evening and now on the one at home. It wouldn't accept the usual address (licketysplit.aus/googlepages.com) so I went to the link below on this page which didn't take me directly there but it brought up a screen to "open" and it worked. Did the same at home and it gave me a "some messages will harm your computer" which I ignored and hit Open anyway and it did.

jwr, "expert" is not like "going pro". It's a different browser Lickety put together so that his list, the grid, the chat, and some other features are all on one page.

I loved 98 at the beginning; it is coupled with microsoft off professional 2000 and for work (brochures, writing, cards, ads, etc), it is fantastic
that is what I have heard dart & many think that was on purpose... may be ok for businesses who have computer geeks on staff, but us home folks are screwed
I know Dart cause when I still had a sister...and she got her Vista, I helped her naviagate to finding ways to do things that XP and previous versions always used...
lots of our mom / pop computer places have closed here (bankrupt, got other jobs)

I just tried opening the beta version again and it immediately opens a the gray window asking if I want to 'open, save or cancel'.

alright. got a new 'puter. it runs vista. yay, but it was free so no complaining, right? well, i'm trying to get the card reader from my digital camera to work, and i cannot find a driver for vista.
so i downloaded one for windows 2k, but when it tries to install it has some sort of targeting error and cannot find the folder it made for itself.
I won't be of any help, beyond the usual 'google it' answer. But I'm not surprised a win2k driver doesn't work with vista.
But perhaps someone else will chime in.
jes, I don't know the specific answer to your question, I'm still running win xp. My suggestion is put this in a Google search box, including the quote marks, if any:
vista +"digital carmera name and model" +driver
sorry, add "windows vista" at the beginning of the phrase (didn't totally think it through, but there's always room for another try!)
see what hits you get, but don't go beyond two pages of results, try tweaking your search parameters and try again.

apparently I'm not the only one with this issue. "I have the vista system on my new dell computer. I'm trying to use my sandisk sddr-09 usb smart card reader. According to sandisk it is system ready without a driver. But my computer tells me I need a driver. The closest driver from sandisk is the windows 2000 driver but when I load it I am given file error message. The guy at sandisk tells me I need to contact Microsoft. When I tried ot access via website and typed in my procut serial number for viata it tells me I've done it wrong. okay, the elder stidkid did "okay" on his midterm math test -- his study habits were not great so he hadn't really understood the mechanics. We are pleased with his effort.
