dee-- here's what I just read -- When the bulldog of 19th-century Britain was transplanted to American soil, it kept its original form while its English counterpart underwent significant changes. With its instincts and form intact, the breed easily switched from bull baiting to handling tough range cattle on the American frontier. Over the last century, the breed has remained relatively true to type and still resembles the Bulldog of bygone days.
parouc
YAY josh!!!
nifty, jilli, thank you for that
interesting jili... the handling of cattle is why their necks are so large, and their shoulders are so strong (least that is what someone else told me); she is terribly strong, but also gentle..

Do you have your own home unea, or rent?
own home
in the UK kanet about and hour away from London. Hey Eva and Merp!
it does seem to be a natural law that things happen when you'd have to pay time and a half.
Eva, you've got tons of snow, right?
Hey FM! Mrrrrrp!
*grin*
Snow, how much?
hour which way, fm? i worked in 6 months in rugby in '98. i loved england
i think scrabbs said she had a couple of feet of the white stuff . . .
only about a foot, which fell over two days. And was very late this year. The midwest got a lot more.
South of Rgby by quite a way - West Sussex. I love the way Eva says 'only' about a foot - here everthing would grind to a halt with more than 2 inches!
same here, fmitch! LOL
Really FM-that surprises me about where you are.
Wonder how the ski runs are up crossys way if they are ready yet?
The ski areas here were very happy, since it was such a late start to the year - although they can make snow as long as its cold enough.
Most of England is not set up to cope with snow which is shocking but the coucils and government decide to spend the money on other things. However it is rare that we get a huge amount of snow in the south of england.
It is an area we have considerable expertise in....great snow tires, plowing, boots, strap on cleats, gaiters, etc. And also a tolerance for things not happening quite when they were scheduled. During the winter the weather forecast is the first thing most of us check on.
where are you, eva?
vermont
Time for me to head to the kitchen so I will wish you all Happy Babbling and see you again soon :)
i always loved that oc6 word - fun
hmmmm - don't think I have that one yet
Hi and bye kje!

hmm.. i've been to NH. don't think i've visited vermont
think see creature, eva

bye fm
oh! Neat
afternoon was my next guess
very different states kanet-both in terms of terrain and culture. Where do you live?
hmm.. well i was there for a few days. friend's wedding. i only know the small town where we stayed. i'm in pittsburgh pa
and I've never been to Pittsburgh. Only Phily
OK, 10 left, and I can procrastinate no more... must get to the hospital
hagd all, see you later
come to think of it that as also for a wedding. Oh, and I think it elementary school we took a class trip to an Amish community.
very different cities. opposite sides of the allegheny mtns. i used to date a girl in philly. did that cross-state drive more times than i can count.
yeah, the amish are near the center of the state
Is Pittsburgh still a steel town?
no. all the steel mills have closed down
so where is the steel industry now?
most steel business went to india, china, & eastern europe
what is the economy of PIttsburgh now?
there's a lot of engineering. many companies that supported the steel industry
so they provide engineering for steel mills overseas
2 big universities: carnegie mellon & univ of pittsburgh
and univ of pittsburgh medical center is a huge hospital organization
pgh is becoming a hotbed for biotech industry
and there is a supercomputer center shared by cmu & pitt
Odd to know so little about someplace so relatively close. I just have all the images of what I learned in childhood, of a rather grey industrial city with big smokestacks. Yes, I did know someone who went to medical school there. I only remember stories of how dangerous it was.
yeah, i've heard stories of the sky being blacked out at noon due to smoke in the sky. that's been gone for decades but the legacy lives on.
the sky is red this morning-not a good sign
tell me about vermont.
and if anyone can help me with these last 3? ap5 ba7 co5
i really want codus to be a word. and rous reminds me of princess bride
vermont makes me think of skiing and maple syrup.
Almost no industry at all, which is lovely, but also makes it a rather poor state with a real struggle for young people to find jobs-especially now. Increibly beautiful, with a history of iconoclasm. very independent thinkers, lots of artists. It is, unfortunately also the whitest state in the U.S. - not a whole lot of cultural diversity. Some great progressive politicians - Bernie Sanders is out state rep and I think the only Independent rep. It is very, very quiet, and tends to attract people who like isolation, although where I live there is also a very strong sense of commuunity and taking care of each other.
ap5 is the plural of ap4/6-those without certain appendages
sounds like i should check it out. actually, i have to. i want to see all 50 states
brisk day again: -9 °F (-23 °C) Wind Chill: -29 °F (-34 °C)

Hello Babblerabble. Very long time no see :)

Hello, I am in North Dakota
Does anyone know whether glass ornaments will break if hung outside in the cold?
don't think i've had the pleasure. i've been through south dakota a number of times. beautiful country out there
I love the trivia I can get answered here!
Sorry Eva - we don't have the extremes of weather that some of you peeps seem to have...
i've never heard of glass breaking just from cold.
I'm thinking they should be okay, since they won't be exposed to water except in the form of snow-and won't be expanding and contracting much
eva.. i can't think of that dylan song. any other clue?
Not usually. Glass usually only cracks when the temperature change is too fast. The outside temperature changes slow enough for glass to adjust.

what do you mean by tempered glass? Things which have been blown and the cooled slowly?
I guess I'll find out.
thanks, soodle. i should have specified. i'm looking for the co5,12 and ba7,40
I've never had a Christmas tree outside before, but we built a new deck and its just the perfect place for it.

the clue I gave you is the one for the 5/12 kanet
thanks BR-but that seems a bit weird, as I would assume that auto glass is tempered, wouldn't you?
Fireworks for me - not an unpleasant grid today. Have a good day everybody - poof!

Hello, everyone, Well done Kanet.
thanks zooz
no-just seem stuck in the groove this morning
also a 60's groove. Turned 60 yesterday so seem to be having a bit of a memory lane trip here
will you still need me, will you still love me, etc
Belated happy birthday to you Eva :-)
thanks!
Oh Eva, even more than ever, now that you are a true sage ;) ... seriously, Happy Birthday!
sage, hmmmm-does that come automatically with the birthday?
That would be lovely - a counterbalance to everything that is sagging and thinning.
I think it's been well learned... and I suspect you were a sage even as a child.
And don't get me started on sagging and thinning ... and thickening ... !!
It seems like the things I want thinner get thicker, and vice versa.
thank you....a growing perspective and insight do seem to be the fruits of aging-or at least conscious aging. And yes, the inverse thinning and thickening seems quit true-why has no one written a scientifica article about this?
Well, feel free to write it, my dear. You have an excellent group of control patients right here! :D
What does the 8 start with, please?

jacq, not too bad, really

cmon, jacq, you've got 59 4-letter words! (loving THAT)
The four letter ones fall easily, it's the longer ones that are hiding out...

Hello all.
morning scrabs... hi everyone
gm scrabs
hi Scrabbler and hi ruru
gm all
hi Joanne
How was the puppy, Ruru?
'morning, everyone! (report on interactive theatre: lived through it, never again)
What is interactive theatre?
hi - welki - what were the highlights? (lowlights?)
I am hoping to see him today ..but it is raining pretty heavily today and I may not make the trip today.
the audience participates ... a wedding, the audience are the guests and are dragged into being "part" of the wedding, from ceremony to reception
i can see where it might be fun for some people if they have a group attending, but it's not my cup of tea
another great broadway career thrown away...
(i was with a small party ... one couple had been before and loves that sort of thing, the other couple a total dud.) RU! lemme tell you, i did some FINE acting last night *LOL* hubby owes me big time!
You should win an award, welki!
i think so, too, scrabbs :)
we were talking about the interactive part last night, but we didn't even mention how the "comedy" is based on Italian-American stereotypes
not my cup of tea, either
yeah .. and how i was probably the ONLY one in the building really from brooklyn! LOL
lolol
they have also produced a Jewish version - equal opportunity offensiveness
I have never heard of this before.
google "Tony and Tina's wedding" ruru
i felt that way, jbv. another room of people thinking that we walk around yelling, howYOUdoooind
I once saw a play, a spelling bee play, I cannot remember the name, but the characters were wonderful, and there were added characters from the audience. Sometimes that can be great, other times duds
Help for the 2nd P from top row? I have Benedict XVI
Good afternoon everyone. Afflicted by manflu today :)
Hi NB! Poor honey.
slow in spanish scrabs
Monkey guessed from that clue, Ru. TY
or small
or little
that's Italian, ruru, how YOU dooin?
ah forgeddaboutit~
Hi All!
hi Nancy Boy - haven't seen you for a while - sorry to hear about the flu
Scrabbler, you're the doctor-lady, PLEASE say I should have some bed-rest!
morning hegster
zackly (would have been nice if they'd gotten the italian right, too)
FUHgeddaboudit, Ru
Rest, pain reliever, hydration, for at least 5-6 days, poor NB!
How are you Scrabs after that wild ride last nite?
Hi hego
I had to live on Long Island for a couple of months and I picked that up pretty quickly
Hi Ruru!
Are you on FB, Hego? I have 2 pix.
you make it sound like a prison sentence, ruru - LOL
I am quite sore, Hego--body is in pain.
That's what I like to hear :) how is everyone else?
errr.....it kind of was like prison...
Yes, Scrabs I am on FB
where've you been NB? haven't seen you for a long time
hahaha, went to a ~~classy~~ italian restaurant a couple of weeks ago. they pride themselves on authenticity. (untrue) the waitress recited the specials in her version of italian (points given for trying),but got all snooty snobby with the wine list .. we ordered a bottle, she asked how it was, i said, "Tutto Bene!" and she looked at me like i was from Mars (or Italy, where it means, everything's good!)
I feel your pain Scrabs. lol
Hm, Hego, how can we find each other there? I am in the group Babblers Worldwide, with initials LS
I hate it when people get snotty over wine.
jbv ... does tutto bene's still exist?
Been travelling, JBV :) an impromptu trip to Amsterdam turned into a big extravaganza, picked up some people along the way, budget airlines, sleeping on beaches/in hostels/on church porches...wicked fun :D
She revealed her unauthenticity, welki.
<-- doesn't know wine from koolaid, just give her something that won't make her gag
Hi all! How are you? Just checking the chog for clues.
I thought tutto bene was a dessert
my name is Helen Gordonand I did not know there is a Babblers group.
to welki - not sure about tutto bene - was it in NYC? haven't been there much
Hi Min
I shall go find you, Hego!!
to NB - a big adventure! sounds like fun
tartufi
That's exciting!
I had a snotty sommelier try to force some wine on me once...
It was great, thanks, JBV :) really sorry it's over, but to be honest I had to come home to get some FOOD in me (travelling with friends means food money turns into beer money)..
Hego, there are 333 women with your name on FB. What city/network?
I can't stand snotty restaurant service
I agree, Ru. And I dislike all snotty people.
wept
yeah, but you know wine, ru. i don't. a good sommelier would never make a novice feel stupid about their lack of wine-savvy
oh excuse me!
Sorry, It's Helen Harrison Gordon
down with snotty people! *waves a banner*
No need to cry, NB
I came to check the chog for clues.Nancy Boy heard my plea, however, I already have that word. Thanks!
I love wine!
what gets me laughing, though, is that these are the same folks who would defer to me in a professional setting (although i don't deserve any deferring)
i found you, Hego, and se4 a message to you.
They say I'm ahead of my time.
Ah, poorMin
I had a waiter at a local restaurant.. come up to the table and said : "Today's special is a hand massaged pork chop with sauteed greens and apricot chutney" and I replied "Oh that's nice.. . is it shihatzu massage or traditional swedish?"
Tx Scrabs!
LOL Ruru!
Hahaha, Ru!
Hence your name hego, combination of 1st&last name
lol ... imagining some poor helper massaging 70 pork chops *does this hurt? a little more to the left?"
that's the chef's ego speaking, the waiter is just the poor messenger
It's brilliant, isn't it, Min?
My screenname used to be a combination of 1st and last name;it was Shawk, but changed it to Minveryork
Are you on FB, Min?
can we change our names?
Gotta go to the store with my M-I-L. I'll be back later
Yes min, I have no imagination
I like Minveryork it is a nice name..what does the minver mean?
Was never Shawk here. That was my AOL screenname
*POOF*
I think I remember Min saying it was 3 states she lived in - minnesota, vermont and ny ?
oh
oh
Oh
Oh

oh

sounds like we've been massaged
Phew, not a word...making me hungry, JBV!!
My Swedish masseur, Lars, is working on me.
i was remembering a commercial with "oh-oh-oh - " i think it was oreos, not sure
it is if you put hunky in front of it scrabs
I don't have your message Scrabs. Does it take a while?
And Dory was hilarious fish on Nemo, with Ellen Degeneres' voice/comic genius.
I don't wish to be crude but 'nads' not being a word is discrimination to my gender.
now we remember why we missed you , NB
I tried it too, NB
oc6 for fireworks, please
I know it's not helpful, Welki, but I REALLY want octopus
PLural that, NB
aha! that's it, NB!
plural, nb
oops, scrabs got there first!
thanks!
Ooh, thank you. The more the merrier, octopus-wise
Yippee for Welki!
Congrats Welki :D sometimes all it takes is a foolish teenager with a big mouth...
speaking of italian, new Il Divo CD out ... Live in Barcelona
I saw some video of them, welki. Stunning!
foolish? nah ... blame it on the nads (and no, you don't have a big mouth, not here anyway)
before i skedaddle off to breakfast, can i help anyone with clues?
Blame it on the nads? but they're so precious. I don't want to offend them, not since finding out that they can twist! :/
clue for the 8 would help???
underwater vessel and fbi a5
su 8/65
Ouch, NB!
nice clue, thanks Joanne
yvw
good-almost-afternoon!

Oh I know Scrabs! Happened to a friend of mine recently, you've never seen a more awkward A+E
lol, i like that one Scrabs
i never know whether to post just stats or a wordy clue
Aha, got them now. Hi feather!
Hi ishult
hi Scrabbler
sooo tempted to ask how the grid is, but i have work i should do
NB, I am a doc so I know about torsion of nads.
struggling to find last 20!!!
grid is fun, so far, with 32 to go
aaaauuugghhhhh.....
it`s was not too bad today featherbee, give it a go
torsion?
Yes, thinking about it Scrabs, you must have seen it -all-
ba7 please
screw it. entered the su8. will do a few more, then work.
Is everyone better in your family, Feather?
not sure. doug's weak and wobbly. nick's quieter than normal this morning, still not eating normally. had applesauce for lunch, didn't want the toast.
Twisting, Ru, of nads can mean death of them. Can even happen in utero and then one of pa4 is discovered to be missing
lol, just do another 91 featherbee, then just leave the grid alone.
dan and i are fine.
hee hee zoom
oh... ouch.. sounds painful
I have a baptism and luncheon to attend soon and just remembered that I have to wrap the gifts.
It is, Ru, and I tell all boys to ALWAYS report nad pain
good to know.
you don`t have to wrap my gift Scrabs, if it will save you some time :-)
mine either
During residency I saw a 15 yr old boy that concealed his pain for over a day and his nad was black, tender, rock hard...and dead. Nad will die in 4-8 hrs if not untwisted.
unfortunately I will insist upon big ribbons and shiny paper
OK, boys, then I will just mail them out, ok?
holy cow! poor guy
I can't believe the nad conversation!
i'll take maid service in lieu of a gift...
queasy, queasy, queasy, so queasy
Yes, I tell boys to never keep pain/lump a secret!
just found ba7=not allow + girls name
still need one more 7???
Hego, no topics are off limits here.
but is that what it means don't get your nads in knots?
I'm so interested, I haven't even started.
picturing poor NB curled up and rocking back and forth in sympathy
Looking for girl's name
Be alert to nads getting in knots
she's an explorer scrabs
There are no body parts that should be twisted!!
It can happen to females too--ovarian torsion.
Feather, I am retreating into a world of Neil Young...everything is happy and safe and untwisted there :')
I will try to kill this off tonight- significant other wants computer. Will chat later.
Gracias, Feather
Bye Kaplan
Kaplan! You're still alive. And sane, sort of.
LOL Hego
i stepped away - missed the painful parts, back for Neil Young - oh my favorite voice!
Kaplan had a meltdown last night here.
It was amazing!!!
kaplan did?
over what?
Oh, yes
Kaplan nearly stroked out trying to get fireworks.
His last 2 words
But I had my little fireworks. I was shouting in chat. My apologies. Meltdown over my last te6
I LOVE him JBV. Was severely torn between him and Springsteen at Glastonbury. Nearly died from stress and frustration!
Too funny, Kap
It was a psychiatric emergency. And Jayk went over the edge too. Soodle, Hego, me and others guided them to fireworks.
It was much appreciated. Haldol helps.
oh.. I didn't know we needed to take medication before playing...
i just observed in case of medical emergency.
Haldol 10 mg IM, STAT
I remember him from a long time ago, but his voice still hits me in the same way - he has a gift
Back later.
lol
Bye Kap
Ruru, we are ALL on medication. Babble is part of our therapy.
I better dive in bye
Hego, are you in the medical field too?
Such gorgeous, classic songs as well. There'll never be another After the Gold Rush, or Cinnamon Girl
I listened to CSNY yesterday--I love the harmonies
I saw CSN & Y in concert many times in my hippie days
OK, 28 left for tonight.
Ruru, you were a hippie? How old are you?
bye for now scrabs
got 38 now
uh oh, i think nick's getting sick, brb
Go Feather go! See, this is therapeutic for you.
old enough
false alarm, just coughing. i am perhaps a tad paranoid now.
In 50's, Ru? I thought you were younger than me (50)
no..scrabs I am older than you...
You should be, Feather, as this week has been the Puke Festival at your home.
It doesn't matter, Ruru. I love you no matter how old you are.
:)
no kidding. i'm so tired of doing laundry! however, i will praise the genius who invented the rug shampooer.
did you like my icon scrabs?
{sprays a little air freshener for feather} - how many in the sick ward, feather?
3 out of 4 here, all on varying days. 2 at once at times.
I didn't click it--this PC freezes up when I click on icons.
oh..too bad..
oh dear, take care of yourself, too, it's so much harder when mom is one of the stricken
so far so good, just a nasty cough/cold for me.
OK, I did it, Ru. Poor Tiger. So many bad decisions!
Alright, must wrap gift and hit the road for the baptism and lunch to follow...hoping for good food!
bye scrabs.. hagd
have fun today scrabs!
26 left for tonight
Bye Scrabs, my friend
Good luck, Nurse Feather Bee!

A woman's cold is real, a man's cold is just me complaining and getting waited on :) Sorry, PC burped.
I tried that. I also thing dangest should be a word, as "I heard the dangest thing this morning"
hahaha nancy boy... i have noticed that men don't deal well with illness. hope you feel better anyway :-)
p vowel same another vowel
i want a man cold. instead of this crappy one i have right now that's not getting me any services around here.
so that p (next to the f) is the one tile keeping me from nbt
do the lo** motion, but with a p.
this might require some trickysurgery, feather
pa6/24?
Be a drama-queen like me, Feather :) I feel all christmasy, having photoshopped a santa hat onto my icon of me several years ago. It wasn't cool to smile back then...
ah. thanks feather.. don't know how i missed that one
holy cow, nice photoshop job! can't tell you weren't really wearing it
Pa6/24? Oc6?
Thanks :D merely because it's small though! I even left a bit of my hood in...d'oh..
my son and hubby have the flu and I am hobbling on crutches after foot surgery... we are quite a family right now.
I do have to go this time Back later for my last 5

Ooh I'm hungry. What's everyone having for dinner tonight?
dont know yet Boy hmmmmmmmmm?
having my last ever family dinner this evening - moving out tomorrow. Can't wait, so excited yet scared. Terrified of having to work a washing machine
oh you'll come back to visit so it wont be ur last one boy
hello any and all! ******HUGS NANCY BOY!******
Independence NancyBoy! are you moving from the town as well?
Not in a hurry though! - My dad is a bit of a facist regarding my sexuality, and since I'm moving in with my boyfriend he doesn't really want me back.
hi Stid
STID :D !!!
oh nancy boy *sad mama face about dad* ((((Lots more hugs)))) you can come live with us any time.
You got it Lynx, moving allll the way to london :)
how's the grid today?
cu6? cu7? any clues? plz
are you going to stop mucking out cows for a living nancy boy?
Oh it's alright Stid, the Korean side of the family is just really pretty traditional!
Interesting Stid, a bit of a challenge
LOL Stid, gave up on that when I broke my fifth nail - been tending bar for a while now and won a few awards for it, because my two interests in life are pretty much exotic drink and exotic people ;)
challenge is okay today, I have no official homework for three weeks!!! :-D
cu6/7 like an unpopular vegetable but not with a double consonant
oh my! tending bar seems more dangerous than cows to me!
Well to be frank Stid, I am enjoying the lack of poo :D
courgette, lynxxx?
3 weeks! you will be lost Stid
LOL I can understand that, poo is something I always delegate to younger folks (our large dog generates prodigious amounts)
not really -- helping in schools some next week, and already have some of the books for next quater.
LOL Stid. Very impressive ;)
I am totally ready for some quiet reading time, and even ready to do some housework, I think.
oh! I got the cu 6/7
what is that veggie unpopular? I like sauerkraut!
hi all. i love that vegetable
And oh dear, I -do- have my mind in the gutter today...can't stop entering 'arouse' and 'nads', just on the off-chance...
I like it too but lots of people don't
golly gee nancy! rofl
hey doren!
hi Dorens
and thanks for the clue. I don't actually like sauerkraut though. Stid!! no homework for three weeks? congrats
Oh you wait, once I move out I won't be stifling my rude side anymore...;)
making latkes for dinner.. mmmmm. and trying a new brisket recipe.. rubbed with all kind of nice things (coffee, brown sugar, paprika, chipotle pepper, s and P) and slow baked with a bottle of beer thrown on top
does that mean that references to holsters for mammaries and small birds won't embarass you any more?
Excuse me if I dribble on you. That sounds lovely.
mmmm. latkes! I could make latkes for supper!!! thanks for the idea doren! I think maybe we don't even need groceries for that!
Dorens dinner, not the bras!!
doesn't it though? my grandmother had a killer brisket recipe and soo easy and everyone loves it.. but i just had to try this one
stid, you have matzo meal in the pantry? i'm impressed
and not the small birds either. No dribbling over... Yep, I am flustered.
I can't eat wheat any more doren, but can use spelt flour for the latkes. I am sad that I can't eat matzo any more, I love the taste.
Happy Sunday everyone! *shocked JBsAnno look* Stiddy? No homework / papers / research?
ha. NBT already!
Ha, ALL blank tiles right now!!
hi JBs
acatually i've seen recipes that don't call for flour or matzo meal at all... not sure how they are though
hey JB!!! *making MJCL quickly* none officially, I will of course be looking again at the paper that I will be revising next quarter...
Whoo hoo,k 92 words to go!!
hi JBs
go JB go!
Stid, are you on the yeastless regimen?
Hi, Dorens, NancyBoy, Lynnxx (capitals for Everyone!)
Hi JB :)
no JB, but figured out that wheat was a major trigger for migraines... so that is entirely off the menu now though it's not a fatal allergy like the others
haven't gone yeastless, and not sure life would be worth it if I did...
you could even use rice flour, stid
Ah, understood. Thankfully, chocolate is not on your "bad" list?
that's an idea, jen! any idea how to keep it from being gritty though? I have don't really enjoy gritty rice-based foods.
nope. choclit is still my main vice!
*hands out handsful of chocolate kisses!*
*snags choclits!!!!*
Fight you for 'em Stid ;)
how are you jen? haven't seen you in ages? are you being hit by that big winter storm?
I figure doren and JB are!
stid, I was on late (for me) last night, had a peppermint valerian tea to settle my grumbly tumbly. What I really wanted was an MJCL!!
Nancy boy, I may be three times your age and walk with a cane, but NOBODY wins in fight for choclit!!! *turning pirate* ARRRR.
No fighting, NB - here's a whole bag of 'em just for you!
your tummy has been bothering you a lot JB -- are you unwell?
I am pretty good stid! recovering from foot surgery. Been in and out of the country too. How are things your way? We just have rain right now
Good morning everyone!
Hi, Jen, Bugsaw!
have you tried rice noodles? like the kind you would use in pad thai? those aren't gritty
BUGS!!!! I survived the quarter! have my evaluation conference next Wednesday and will know my "grade" then (no actual grades at this college)
*gobbles disgustingly* All's fair in love, war, and food
yes, I like those rice noodles, but I mean when I try to cook with rice flour it's gritty
No snow here (Philadelphia) just rain, complete white out by fog outside our 14th floor windows
hmph. I would have thought a "nancy" might be more dainty!
And CHOCOLATE, NB!
lol, stid
WELL DONE stid!! I don't know how you managed to run a family, Babble and School all without going crazy. I am sure you did well. Marks don't really matter as much as what you learn.
*wipes telltale chocolate dribbles from stid's mouth*
Oh don't let it decieve you ;) Again, dirty thoughts. I need to have my head shut in a door. It's like a nervous tic.
I have never actually cooked with rice flour, except using it in a tempura batter, so I am afraid I am nt much help
well, my children are old enough to mostly run themselves... and they are a good reason to step back sometimes from the homework
*blushing as NB's thoughts filter through the internet* I ought to wash your brain out with SOAP! *stern mama look*
Now they make ready made gluten free flour mixes that include rice and other kinds for a better balance, stid. Celimix bread flour can be used in any recipe, not just bread. Can you get that brand down there?
I don't know bugs, but there is a gluten-free store in one of the nearby towns I have been meaning to visit
I'm SO sorry, I'm just nervous about tomorrow. I'm saying things without thinking them. Is it obvious?
I will look for it, since I will have time this week!
another trick is to let the whatever you made sit for 20 minutes before you cook it. The moisture softens the rice grit.
could I get some clues for the E's? All I have is the E4/6
Another technique is to put a little pan of water in the bottom of the oven when you cook it.
I think, young man, that hormones at your age rampage. I also think that you are mature enough to filter how they are expressed. *stern but loving mama look* you are nervous, that doesn't mean you get to act out. *hugs*
how about en 4/5?
Nancy, slamming your head in a door will just wreck your hair
fish me please! ty stid
not begginings
bugs, you are BrILLIANT! thank you!
LOL Bugs. Blood and gunk in it? ew.
and definitely slamming heads in doors is NOT okay.
Filters, NB, filters!
eg4.7 & 5. an english expression of surprise
I missed why you are excited Nancy. Can you expalin again quickly for me?
*thinking Nancy Boy needs an official time out in the corner*
on a cookie baking break . . . afternoon from icy PA
thanks for that one lynxxx!
thanks lynxxx!!!
JUDY!!! *looks expectantly for cookies*
I'm taking one, Stid, believe me :) Bugs, I'm moving out of the family home and in with my boyfriend in London tomorrow :)
ap7/40 anyone plz? can't seem to see it at all.
Stid, google William Crook and yeast - I read the yeast connection lo these many moons ago when I needed a major detox. Useful recipes without too many complex ingredients. There's another one by a nurse (Margaret somebody), when I remember I'll pass it on.
No wonder you are excited! It is a big step. COngratulations
dough is mixed Stid. No baking yet. I'll bring some back later and put them in the PB!
are you saying that I shall be IN the PB by then? LOL
ap7 ap & vowel & a horos**** to tell your future
thanks JB, I will do that now brefore I forget
Thanks Bugs :D excited and nervous though, as I'm imagining there'll be a bit of a scene tomorrow - my dad doesn't exactly approve of, er, me
Egads, cookies in the PB - here I come (most flagrantly) um, "fragrantly"???
*gasps* JB said a word!
he will regret that later in life NB
ROFL, JB
hi Judy & Ruru
good morning/afternoon everyone :)
aha thanks I have now!
*where's them cookies, Cio?**
It's the Korean side, Ruru, he's very traditional :) but thanks, I do hope he can accept it one day
hey nan!
hi sandie! when did you appear?
{{cnan!!}} long time!
Just now Stidmama.
hi C'nan
Hi, Sandie
((sandie)) LOL hi there!
be strong Nancy. The time to leave home is with your head held high, not with a scene so if he tries to make one, just tell him you still love HIM even if he doesn't approve of your lifestyle. Eventually he will understand what that means
I left my parents home when I was 16 and never went back
Hello everyone... happy holidays to one and all
halfway!!!
(((ruru))) I never knew that.
{{{GW!!1}}} <from the PB, waiting for cookies...*
hi GreyWoulf
WOULF!!!!! *faint* I don't know if I can handle all these people here at once
Sorry, JB -- Kirsten hasn't baked any recently :(
Thanks, Bugs :) good advice, actually, and saves me from getting in the car all tear-stained and blotchy.
CiociaJudy is baking cookies, Woulf!
{{**lynxxx, JB, Stid, and everyone else**}}
Hi all! nice to see all of you again!
Oh, sorry, GW, not from you, from CJudy, they're about to go into the oven, yes? She promised a delivery to the PB, so I typed a word just to be first to get one!
Ruru, I never could have done that at 16 - was nowhere near ready. Hope you weren't driven out by circumstance :/
you'll be tear-stained and blotchy no matter what, Nancy Boy -- know that is okay to have emotions and feel sad when you are also making a positive step. That is part of growing up, and part of life.
chic too? *faints dead away*
ruru you got me again. I saw a picture in the icon and thot it might be you ---- NOT
rofl, JB!!
hi to all who have recently popped in! :-)
'fanning stid'
*sniffs tearfully at momerly moment from stid*
bugs, my idea of what ruru looks like is a little bit like "animal" from the muppets and partly like the "tasmanian devil"
what stid said, Nancy
*fans Stid* the only cure is chocolate and foot massages, obviously :)
from bugs bunny, and a bit like a hippie from the 60s with fringe and flowers in his hair...
Hi, chic! Hi, ruru, didn't see you there!
*slightly offended look*
Nancy Boy -- just rolled back and read the news... Congrats on taking the big step! And add my support to reinforce the advice from the others.
thanks all! *comes to and accepts choclit gratefully*
ru- don't be offended, it's a crowded room!
what, you're a tall, disinguished-looking executive type, ruru?
Well thank you so much, assorted ladies and gents :) the support means a LOT to me. Everyone's so nice!
just looked back at the log -- a lot of "old timers" here today :)
Mmmm.. not that either
*revises image to include hornrimmed glasses, neatly trimmed sideburns and elegant suits*
*and callused fingers from blazing typing skills*
I am actually 6 ft tall and look like a linebacker
thanks JB, was forgetting the calluses.
I like your icon, ruru
lol, cnan!
phone call - sorry
I feel slightly jealous of Ruru now. There is no mystique around my image, it's right there in my icon. With a bit of christmas photoshopped in :D
linebacker -- hm. *tries to imagine*
thank you chic.. I thought it was hysterical..
Don't say "old" timers today Nan!
NOOOO, Ciocia, what about the cookies?
she'll be back JB -- she knows we are waiting!
I've got cupcakes, butterballs and now making chocolate chip cookies, JB. *hands goodies to JB*
Off to slowly hobble upstairs, bye for now everyone!
I'm not old, just mature!
{{**Jen**}}
you're a cutie pie, Nancy Boy!
NB, I wish you much happiness in your new adventure. You'll be just fine. Hang in there! Your Babbler friends love you just the way you are!!
*phew* Many thanks, Ciocia, just what I needed!
not old, not mature -- just me!! 8-D
((((Jen)))) hope I see you again soon. be well!
Oh Stid, it wasn't cool to smile in photographs when that was taken :D
better to be mature than manure jb
Aren't they so cute when they're young (@ NancyBoy, lol)
Thanks so much, CJ :) I'll go waving a flag, now!
I know, but I bet you're even cuter when you do. Of course, it's not the looks, it's what you do and most importantly how you treat people.
My "old" comment reflects the fact that today I am a year OLDER.
lol, ruru, just wait. I'm having trouble focusing today, I just may typo it
*bows* why thank you JB, I try my best *preens*
40+ and still have the stamp of acceptance from children quote "GW is a grownup, but he's OK, cos he is a big kid"
Happy Birthday Judy!!!!!!!!
happy birthday judy................
*gasp* oh JUDY! I FORGOT!!!! *hastily orders black balloons and crepe paper streamers* HAPPY BIRTHDAY, my (much) older friend! LOL
Happy birthday, CJ!!
>>**Happy B-day, CJ**<<
TY TY - Stid--that is mean! LOL
happy b-day, 2cj!
GW, how are you? Long time no see.
Thank you all. I feel so much better now. I'm sitting here alone, baking. Had to cancel my birthday breakfast with friends and family because of the icy weather.
Happy Birthday, Ciocia!! *hands over a cupcake with a lit candle in it*
okay, I need a break from babbling to get real food... back later to chat and finish. nancy boy, don't fret too much about this next step. life is full of choices, and ups and downs, and you are smart and kind. You will do fine overall.
*wanders off, nibbling on choclits and cookies*
how thoughtful JB. Thx. *makes a wish and blows out the candle*
Doing pretty good, CJ -- work is still keeping me way to busy to concentrate on chatting these days, but I am still checking in
Thanks so much Stid :) lovely to come across you again! x
Good to see you all, gotta go for now, bbl! *exit, stage left, with stidmama* *poof*
cu later stid. I'll have chocolate chip cookies when you get back!
toodles for now, stid
byyyee JB, thanks for the 'maginary chocolate :D
cu later JB
so long, JB
Sebastian (who turns 4 next month) just gave me a big laugh -- he took some craft sticks from the craft drawer so he could make a star...
Awww!
cu6?
wow, can't believe he's 4 already GW
He just asked me a for a plate so he could make and alien -- when we asked what happened to the star, he said "... Stars are hard!" Rather than ask for help with the star, he just decided to change his plan of attack
baby bear + how old you are and plural harp
thanks judy
Hi briefly folks! GREAT stories, GreyWoulf!
so there is an alien going on top of your tree, Woulf?!
Hey Monkey!! I owe you a note on FB. Been reading all your updates but haven't responded!
It is pretty amazing, CJ -- just as the fact that Kristianna is in first grade still gives me pause
hi gw!
Possibly, NB --- but this is so big, probably I will just hang it in his room
lurking but must pop in to say hi to GW!!
No problem, Judy! "Owe" isn't a word I'd use, but it feels good to be thought of.
Does Sebastian start Kindergarten next Sept. GW?
Hi harp -- how have you been
good, i have 18 words to go, but now I am off the the Church Musician Vortex...
No, he gets a year more to wait, CJ -- the school district requires that he be 5 years old before the school year starts
will finish after i play a few more "o holy nights"
Here they atsrt the day after their 4th birthday. Walter is desperate to get back to school. He probably can Tuesday.
still have 20 words to go. but the cats don't seem to be baking the cookies so I guess I'll have to do it. I'll be back later. Wonderful to see everyone!!
Bye Judy! Those cookies sound delicious!
play well, Harp
I am stealing some time to chat right now as well -- will be heading over to gramma's pretty soon -- currently I still have 65 left to find.... and I keep seeing apricot
ttfn, CJ
3 left wooo whoo
I'll be off soon too to oversee my neighbor's sleeping kids for a bit while he picks up a relative at the train station. They have troubles, the little girl is in the hospital, so it's good this relative can come stay with them to help with the two boys.
hunger hallucinations ;) any help on the ap7?
Not from me, NB, sorry.
the only word I can think of now is 'apricot' :D
ap & a hor*s**** tells your fortune
Thanks, Lynx :D
Thanks Lynxxx! Cool word!
thanks for that, lynxx -- never would have monkeyed that one!
hello all, just poppd to say hit
Hi Peri!
um. i didn't get it lynxx :( i'm thick today...
and hi everyone
what a nice surprise, Nancy Boy, GreyWoulf and Monkeg Games are here!
Wow, was never expecting the pr7 to be a -real- word
and you, of course, Peri :)
Monkey Games, even
It's a linguistic term, Tragic, related to syn****
Hi peri & stud
Hee hee, no worries Peri.
hoers'doevrues' tell my fortune?
nO, SYN*** IS SOMETHING ELSE ENTIRELY, ISN'T IT? sORRY.
hos is the family GW?
HI Monkeygames. I was lost in the grid for a bit and then got lost in your icon stuff. I can add one for you ....
Ahhh!!! Capslock thing again. Need a new keyboard.
How is the family, GW
Hi Bugsaw! Cool, do tell!
they tell mine, harp. "soon, there will be eating rampage, for great justice"
I was hopping to see one of my cousins here. IShe has been playing a short time and is already addicted :) and gone pro too
oops, last ever family dinner beginning NOW, with 7 left. Thanks and later, all :)
Eating rampage already happened here. That was one fine hunk of lamb.
Nuu-Chah- Nalth native people here on the west coast of Vancouver Island, say Ee-hych-ka (phonetic).
Bye NB!
family are all well, peri -- kids are anxious for Yule and I only have a couple of gifts left to locate to have the family covered
Good luck, NB -- {{**HUG**}}
good to hear, GW
lol nancy
bye MG and thanks Woulf :) at least there's one big, fatherly hug!
Thanks, Bugsaw! What language group is that? I'll pass it along to my aunt, she runs the nearly-extinct-native-American-languag es program.
Good luck Nancy.
Salish I think.
se 5,12 please
:)
OK, thanks.
Where does your aunt run this program?
bye for now
Bye Peri!
She's a professor of linguistics. She tends to do the program mostly in the US, Mexico, and Canada, but she does get all over.
so long, peri
She does seminars to teach locals how to run the program for their own languages.
Even in cases where there are no native speakers left at all it can still work if there are records.
My grandkids are Nuu-Chah-Nulth and all they know is Thankyou and Dessert. lol
Those are useful words.
I know that there are programs here in some schools so save the language but if it is not spoken at home, a language can be lost so easily.
It sure can! Here's a link to her book she uses in the program: http://www.amazon.com/Keep-Your-Langua ge-Alive-One/dp/1890771422
thanks!
Sure thing! Seemed topical.
Time for me get going for now as well... Going to watch Batman the Brave and the Bold on the DVR and then go to gramma's... it is my favorite animated series at this time
Bye GreyWoulf!
bye, GW and all!
{{**Hugs to MG, chic, and all**}}

Nor indeed apiary...

speaking of apiary
my goats tipped over a beehive.
which i now have to fix
Oh dear! Everyone OK? Beehive too?
Ah, have to fix, I see. Bees OK, or fed up and going elsewhere?
everyone okay. but combs broken off
which they can't really fix til spring
Will that take them long to get back in order? I have a better than layman's knowledge of beekeeping but it's far from extensive...
bees will stay, since it is too cold to set up a new home
Ah, you answer all my questions as I type them! Good skill!
i will put in food to keep them going until bloom
I'm glad they'll stay. My uncle kept bees, for purposes of mead.
and hello everyone!
anyone need help with words?
OK, I need to head over to the neighbor's. His little girl is in the hospital with a lung abscess, his wife is there, his two little boys are asleep, and he needs to go get the obscure German relative who will be staying with them to help out. Have fun, all! I'll probably check back in later.

thanks welki
ty wht
anyone like date nut bread? can't find it up here, so i tried a recipe and it's pretty darned good (better the second day after being stored in plastic bag --- got nice and gooey on the outside)
mmmmmm
yes please welki
i think the store bought varieties are either steamed or pressure cooked like christmas/plum puddings, but this is baked in a loaf pan
here you go. the only thing i might do differently is increase vanilla to 1 tsp. and eliminate the orange zest. it tastes great, but it's "traditional" .. my two cents' worth: http://tiny.cc/datenut
(i used fresh orange zest .. nice and 'citrusy" .. very refreshing, but not what i'm used to in this type of loaf)
1 left...co4/5
co + Douglas F** Tree
church singing group that got the "h" out of there
FIREWORKS ty welki...
thanks welki I copied it reminds me of the date nut bread my auntie used to make
welki...my monkey said ty tooo *smile*
and I was going to say it's wonderful with cream cheese
java that was also a good clue
mmmmm cream cheese
yw
ohhhh, it is, west! i'm really pleased with the outcome today. yesterday, i was a little disappointed, but the plastic bag helped bring it back to how i remember it should be
or should I write TY?
well i'd better go fix dinner be back l8tr
it's not hard to make ... the recipes has the steps in the wrong order, but if you bake, you'll know how to make it more time efficient (i.e. let the dates soak while you prepare your pan and dry ingredients)
either/or java..i appreciate it
hehehe --- been a long time since i've let a date soak :)
lol welki
welki....now that there was funny!
git 'er dun *lol*
yep Larry!
well, i'm in a cooking state of mind, must take advantage since it doesn't happen often these days ... choc chip cookies and a new recipe for coconut/choc/pecan bars ... and then meat loaf for supper, so off to 'lurk mode'
i just finished my second batch of bourbon balls
welki sounds like there's a babble cookbook in the works...........*poofy*
sounds good jmc
bye welki happy baking
see you all later
that's why I said poofy...if we eat all these recipes on here we all will be poofy, ha,ha,ha!
jmc...was that baking them or eating them?
making them --no baking involved
bye west
afternoon all...
*yawns* cookbook? I know how to make some mean korean food. the clue is in my name
my -actual- name, not the babble name. cooking is the manliest thing you can do!
oh right...making...I used to make them for my merman to take to work...his grou[p used to beg for them...I used to make them six weeks before xmas and let them sit in the fridge and add a sprinkle of bourbon now and then, found out after a couple of years my hubby no longer offered them to his crew but saved them for himself....
LOL MP
how'd you find out, MPitt?
I love korean food....longing for kim chee right now
Nancy doesn't sound very Korean to me
pini!
JMC! How are ya???
hi pini...he confessed...
hi people!
LOL Jmc. I have a Korean name as well as my English name (which is Jesse, weirdly) because of mixed parentage
at least he was honest, MPitt! LOL
hi eno
hi eno
im just yanking your chain nancy
yes now and then that happens *grin*
how are you all people? Gorgeous day here in Ottawa, full of snow!
Sorry, I'm so tired :D too nervous to sleep tho!
cold pini but okay
actually I didn't mind in fact it was flattering that he thought what I made was sooooo good that he kept it for himself...
the refs in the football game are pissing me off
nervous for a particular reason NB?
Oh, just tomorrow :) keep telling myself it'll all be over in twenty-four hours, though
refs? football? american football or english?
* hands jmc a toasty warm blanket *
and what is special about tomorrow?
american football I am a Texas native
ty pini
yw ;)
baking trivia: 25 graham crackers, crushed fine, makes 1 1/2 cups of graham cracker crumbs :)
moving out, Jmc! but there's gonna be a blow-up with my dad, since he's SO not au fait with my sexuality, and I'm moving in with my boyfriend in London. He's the traditional, uptight Korean dad. Quite a good chance I might get disowned :/
oh no, NB...sorry to hear...but glad you'll be happy?
thanks, Pini :) yep, s'gonna be a strange day. But it's got to happen at one point - it's not the moving out he opposes too, it's the being gay.
I hope he remembers that he's the proud father of a wonderful son...
I've been banging on about it all day actually. Nervousness results in the opening of a huge verbal floodgate.
Oh Pini, that's so sweet, thank you :) My mantra for tomorrow is "it's all for the best". what happens will happen, I suppose. It'll be so good to be out of the house, though.
No doubt...perhaps you could consider reminding him that you're thankful to him and his guidance for being a strong individual, responsible, trustworthy, compassionate, etc. - all the positive qualities every parent hopes his/her child learns from them.
Nancy Boy I think that is so sad that people are not accepted because of sexuality...actually it's illegal here and should be everywhere...I could never turn against my child or grandchild or relative for that...all that matters is if they are a GOOD person...I sincerely hope that he can find it in his heart to accept you for who you are...you sound like a very nice person so maybe you and your partner can help him with his acceptance.
Hopefully I'll be able to be that eloquent, Pini :) I tend to get very flustered in the moment, but I'll definitely try my best!
sorry NB the game caught me.
consider writing "a letter" that you can read and then give him so he has something to read later in his own time.
MP, thank you so much :) I'm so glad I talked about it on babble - been sort of hoarding it up - because everyone has been so sweet and so supportive. This really is a wonderful place; nowhere else on the web like it
My brother never came out and died of AIDs still firmly in the closet. Being Gay did not poison my brother. Not being honest in his life poisoned my brother.
Oh my goodness, Jmc, I'm so sorry
I'm sorry to hear, jmc...
So I know we are not your dad and it is not the same as having support from your dad but you have our support
amen jmc
so true, jmc...
Hello, Babble Friends. (((Nancy Boy))) Good luck
No, it's really wonderful. Babble is like having a hundred mothers and fathers and siblings
hi nef
hi jo and nef ;)
Hi Nef, and thanks :)))
I'll chime in here too -- all the best to you, Nancy Boy
old school dad's should be happy to have healthy kids
hi jmc and Pini
hello everyone
Absolutely NB...I just love this game...oh the game is fun but the chog and the people you chat with is simply fabulous...I too worked in the HIV/AIDS field in fact I worked for the USA AIDS guru Dr. Fauci...I always felt proud about what the NIH (Nat'l Inst. of Health) did for so many ill people...in fact they saved my life...
hi all
oh no, c'mon, you're gonna make me cry :)
better not
I have never understood why anyone should be concernedabout another persons' sexuality unless they are sexually involved with each other
be pr5
hi joanne
gotta luv "virtual family!"
MP, that's so admirable
NB we are here for you...so many wonderful people on here and now you are one of us!
Something in my eye, huh...:)
your finger??
Mine too, NB
Actually I just checked your profile and you have been on here a long time I am a newbie
brighten up nb
NB think it was so special that you shared with us...thank you!
LOL Joanne. NOT my finger!
Oh yeah MP, I'm old news alright :)
LOL
life is too short to change something u can't...just enjoy it as you!!!
My fingers are firmly attached to my hands, so I know it's not MY finger in your eye, NB!! LOL
No, MP, thank you for listening and everyone being so lovely!
see made u laugh
not mine I am a dry eyed girl
laughing best medicine
that an a hug from a close friend
I've always believed that Joanne, although there's an awful lot of doctors/nurses/etc here who probably wouldn't agree
not on the chog NB most of the ones that come here would support those propositions
There was a TV programme the other day on "Laughology"
half time I need to work on this silly grid!
NB you have me wanting to fly up to the Korean grocery for some treats...love the seaweed, little anchovies, squid, baby crabs, clams, burdock, skate, oh my I'm famished!
I'm a nurse and have always tried to use humor appropriately NB. It does help
LOL Jmc!
not so sure nb
is welki still here? How did her event go last night?
Babble Buds...we are special! Like having a second (or first in some cases) family! :)
welki went to bake
she is in major chirstmas baking mode
nef that's good that u are a caring nurse
Oh I know MP, I haven't visited the Korean side since I came out but I always eat sooo much when I'm there! and my mother's pretty good at cooking it, too, mmmmm...
*doing her "I am special" dance*
* giggle *
Is anyone doing the grid? I need a clue for the last co 5.
dance dance dance!
so mom is ok with it nb??
I'm trying...but not doing well...
sorry mich, don't have it yet (22 left)
Want to finish soon, but still have 32 to go...going out this evening to see my brother sing...

oo joanne!
it's snowing here...
really stid?
I'm impressed Joanne!
not much accumulated yet, but temps are dropping and it's still falling.
oc6 think 8 and hot apple ..e
Let it snow, stid, still foggy and rainy here. Would prefer snow!
I just got dry from picking out a tree in the rain
I thought they promised me rain... *disappointed mama look* I don't want to drive places tomorrow in the snow.
foggy here too...I want snow !
thanks for the yummy clue joanne
no snow here so far, stid -- I hope it stays away -- I have to go to Victoria tomorrow
Let's trade, stid!
thing's melting here for now
*trading happily with JB* you want my virus thingy too? *hopeful look*
su8 underwater vessel and F.B.I AG5
*puts on face mask to filter air*
Sure, I'm loaded with vitamin C and valerian, and other herbs and spices. Bring it on!
thanks again joanne! wow. I might finish listless after all
thanks, JB! you're the BEST *makes MJCL to celebrate
Okay, diving into the grid, still 92 words to go!
F.B.I.???
go JB go
mmmmmm, NOW I'm totally fortified!
ty, stid!
jmc, you found a tree?
jillibus imvisible to stid?
I did but I am a tad disappointed
it will not hit my ceiling :-(
how short from the ceiling?
wait. what don't hit ceiling?
but the next tallest tree was 10 foot tall and $125
several feet short
wow!!!
it is only 6 feet tall
oh. tree. *sigh* no "tree" trees until dog ages out.
*gasp* what kind of celing do you have?
same here, stid
I couldn't see spending $125 on a tree
dangit. you have 9' ceilings! ho ho ho!
8 foot
I have to cut off some of the bottom for the water
I have a nice, skinny artifical yule tree we bought at a hardware store a couple years ago on sale for $25.
it'll look lovely once it's settled in and decorated. (could always build a box for it to stand on, but then you'd need to surround it with huge presents :)
this will be the first tree in my son's life that didn't hit the ceiling
it fits between the wall and the sofa, out of the way. And it doesn't trigger any allergies.
I intend on putting it on a box
it will be a nice tree jmc. of course, you could always relocate here and have plenty of trees...
nothing is ever as big as it seemed when we were children, but it doesn't make it less beautiful, important, traditional or comforting
I won't put mine up until next Sat. because a friend allergic to christmas trees is coming over on Fri.
I am too much of a city girl for that stiddie
D.C. is as low as I can go!
(in size)
I am curious to find out if perhaps the trees I used to be allergic too don't bother me now that I have identified more food allergies.
I have a little green fake balsam about 2 feet tall, all decorated and sitting in a black plastic garbage bag waitning from last year (and many previous years) for me to get it out and plug it in.
*grin* and in other ways too, jmc. *ducks flying objects*
well I was wondering since there are different kinds of christmas trees how she could be allergic to all of them
sounds festive, jill. And a lot easier than the other trees. That is a nice thing about our tree, it's prestrung with lights, and we just add the baubles
hey stiddie you are the one saying that Olympia is lower in other things than D.C.
crossing fingers really tight..just talked to sister-in-law and hubbies mom found a lump...
it might not be the tree itself, jmc, but the fungi and lichens that tend to grow on them -- or the flame retardants you city people put on them/
hope it's nothing.
oh no joanne
oh oh joanne. *worried mama look*
stid -- what new allergies??? (Need to know!)
these are fresh off the tree farm
olympia, wa?
I have 2 fake trees in the garage (1 tall, 1 short)...Koda's here, so no tree..
joanne -- it could be just a cyst
this one hurts?? what do ya think?
wheat, jill. definitely my primary migraine trigger. Avoiding it for two months, no migraines except a small one last week that followed an incidental cow exposure.
yes welki. very near olympia
i was thinking the same jill
Those nasty cows...exposing themselves to you!
I used to have to accommodate my cat Elizabeth Cady Stanton who ate icicles and then pooped them out not completely
short tree on countertop? beagles aren't good at jumping.
wow, stid!
rofl JB!
Oh, Joanne {{hugs}} and prayers
I think you need to have a talk with Koda, stid...I think he has some rabbit in him! :)
I think the restaurant ladled out my vegetarian soup with a ladle they had used in a beef-broth soup
if the lump hurts that would seem to be a good sign
ewwwww jmc
Fireworks! Good night all and good luck tomorrow, Nancy Boy!
really pini? WOW.
i thought soo too
mich
well heck, we're almost neighbors .. calgary's only 1200 km away!
little silver fillaments sticking out her butt
whoo hoo mich
YAY michnick! sweet dreams and shalom!
wtg mich!!!
How festive, jmc!
serious, stid...he can jump! I think he has springs in his hind legs...I haven't been able to find them though to remove them! LOL
Yay, mich!!! Good night!
welki, if you come for the games next month I shall drive up to see you! LOL
oh my goodness, stid! That IS cow-sensitivity!
well the poop box was festive too
yes jill, it's getting worse.
how can a ppop box be festive??
poop too
+thinking to self...jmc decorates the litter box? Takes all kinds+
rofl pini. my little dog had springy legs too, when she was little, but mini poodles do
careful with that, jmc . those icicles can cause major problems. had a touch-and-go moment with one of our cats
sorry i got lost -- how were you exposed to a cow? (or vice versa)
ewwww
well we just never put icicles below 2 feet from the floor
but she would still sometimes find them on the floor.
this cat has no interest in them
the soup, jmc, in a restaurant that didn't think a tofu pho might require no beef stock
Actually, jmc, welki is right, kitty intestines very sensitive to long stringy stretchy things: long hair, rubber bands, tree tinsel...
sun's trying to come out here!
mmmmm ... something's ready to come out of the oven! brb
where jill??
go sun, go *for jili*
dang dark here now
we don't do the sparkly icicles, I realized when the boys were little how wasteful they were. but my heart still wishes we used them
oo that is terrible stiddie! not just for you but for vegetarians too
Near Victoria, BC, Joanne (see my bio)
Hoping that's more cookies for the PB, welki! *getting ready to type another grid word into the chat to be first in line)
sun would be nice, but clouds are thick
south carolina - usa
I carefully take them off the tree before I strip the tree of its branches
beautiful jill
jilli, do you have any friends (waterfront) who rent out their places during the summer?
bad JB bad
i only like the dark this time of year for the Cheristmas lights
c'mon, jmc, I'll share!
I was considering getting some of those replicas of victorian icicles, the swirly dangly ones
god can't i spell
not that I know of, welki, but you could contact the SSI swebsite maybe
Hi Guys Soulgirl UK
hello soulgirl 1
hey soulgirl
I have some of those but I like the ones you throw on.
hehehe, last time we were out there, i used one of the local realtors and ended up in one heck of a house ... not going to rent without personal references again
Thanks Hi all first time on the site
hi soulgirl
I am so good at getting them off I only have to buy new ones every other year or so
hi soul!
hello, soul
Soulgirl, have you had a look at the Help?
welcome welcome soul
i bought the biggest balls last year...
Stiddy, just for you, I really wanted *cowpie* in the grid, but it won't take it
Thank yo all
(and, of course, my in-laws were with us for that holiday .. was an experience)
hehe
inspite of appearances to the contrary we do play the babble game too
oooh, that would have been good word, JB!
rofl joanne!!!!
* blink * we really play the game while we're here?
red ones too
gosh, maybe that's been my problem!
we socialize (lots)
*trying to imagine what balls joanne is talking about*
game? there's a a game? *looks for game*
So I see
sometimes we play
lmao
LOOL
down to 14 actually pini... listless thanks to many good clues!
sundays I think are the worst
LOOL???? meant LOL
gooo stid
go stiddie go
There's a game here? *looking to left* what's THAT thing with all the letters?
Its late here thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!!
<-- wonders if the big, economy size balls are cheaper than the regular variety
never mind, JB. *puts one cookie on each tile* Stidkid#2 just made snickerdoodles
*imagines welki hefty balls*
Ask joanne, welki. She's got balls...
but they are!!!
big balls at that
she's got balls!!!!!!
COOOOOOOOKIES!!!!!! Just in time for my dinner break!!! Thanks, stiddy {{{warm sugary hugs}}
ohh talk to my boss!! he'll tell ya
and i've got an overactive imagination
I don't need balls, living in a house of males *sigh* even the budgie has balls...
lol, joanne!
I would blush to ask your boss if you have balls joanne!
lol he never does
I would nearly kill for a length of lace or ribbon.
as i tasted "rocky mountain oysters" for the first time, i looked at my (now ex) husband and said, 'let this be a lesson.'
Oh, I have to go. Gotta muck out my craft room, and then make dinner. BBL to get the last 71 words!! lol *poof*
eww that sounded bad
lol welki
brb -- must attend to birdseed bell outside (it fell off it's hook)
bye JB
*considers adding lace to the collar of the official babble jacket*
hb jill
later JB! ****hugs****
byee jb
no torg, ruru and crossy would look terrible in lace
welki! you DIDN'T! roflol
*dials 1-516-JOANNESBOSS* hello? is this joanne's boss? is it true? does she really have balls?
still at 14 and considering hte list
Nancy Boy would be cute though
yes i did :)
any worse than they do in the pink camo with rhinestones?
that is why I don't wear them
lmao
I don't wear pink
I don't know, now that we know ruru is a linebacker, it might be cute on him, too!
and I don't wear camo
i do tehe
rhinestones I could live with
i can too
...and some well placed sequins
now jmc, don't be a party pooper. pini and LBD and I have already decided. *determined mama look*
*puts rhinestones on foil hat*
although I suppose we could add a different color way - what do you think pini? green and blue camo?
LOL jmc!
you can make jackets all you want but I don't have to wear them *stern JMC look*
NO CAMO
i saw some sequins glued on to some tacky white branches last night ... they picked up the light from the halogens and sparkled incredibly
<-- would prefer a straitjacket
now, that's weird -- the birdseed bell has totally disappeared! It's the kind in an orange mesh bag, and there's no sign of it either.
welki, how did last night go for you?
hm. did the deer eat it jill?
hey NEF!!!! ((((hugs))))
jilli, do you have squirrels?
bet there is a guilty looking squirrel
It's in the fenced area
*hands the squirrel a napkin*
camo is a relative thing, jmc ... maybe it's green and khaki for hunting, black and brown for covert ops, but sometimes it's even black on black business casual :)
oh. no deer then.
No squirrels here. Maybe raccoons.
hi stid! (I'm watching Dr. Who and am easily distracted
have you noticed any really LARGE squirrels moving in?
I saw a racoon chasing a cat the other day. The cat was running for its life.
ooooh. Dr. Who - the old one version or the new?
ok all any clues needed?? if not i am out cause still hurting from the ribs
NO CAMO
hi all
raccoons are fast! and big. and mean.
poor joanne
hey mkg
two seconds to get the 8 and must go.
clues for the 8?
You finished, joanne?
nef .. i came out of it alive. it really wasn't very funny at all, but i put on my game face and was a good sport. i can see how some folks would enjoy that sort of thing, but it's not my cup of tea.
okay okay jmc! no camo. *considers paisley insteaD*
su8
this is a new one who meets an old one (who isn't the REAL Dr. Who; but....
su8 = below bond 007
paisley is good --very gender neutral
peter davison, NEF? *trying to remember plot lines*
su underwater vessel and cia ag5 jmc
I'm glad you survived, welki.
ty ty
yvw if i helped
welki, what was this unfunny event?
i thought that if it was another ethnic group being stereotyped like that, there'd be demonstrations and riots
so relative to making wear a team jacket . . . .
tony and tina's wedding, an "interactive" sort of dinner theatre
gotta go...my cuz is back and we're goin' out to dinner and brother's concert...will talk with y'all later!
*thinking I missed something big* what stereotype welki?
bye pini
bye pini -- have fun!
bye pini, enjoy!
have fun pin
have fun pini. ((hugs)) I'll see you soon
it's a spoof on italians, stid
tony and tina -- Italian?
stid, this is about a doctor in the late 1800's and Peter Davison travelling back to fight the cyberking (who is actually a woman)
anything else people??
I am getting less and less comfortable with spoofs of any kinds.
ty got the 8
worst part is that a server blasted through a solid door and sent me and my coffee flying ... don't know if they got it on video
hi mkg
poor welki
oh, no fun, welki!
I think I DO remember that one Nef! it's been a while since I watched it. have been too busy to even consider watching the ...
oh welki, that's rotten luck
i was talking this before ... i was probably the only person in the room who was born in brooklyn and knows what an american-italian accent sounds like
I haven't watched Dor Who in ages.
oh, dear Welki! No wonder you didn't care for that!
er not the only one here
the other people seemed to enjoy the performance, although who can tell, i was pretending, too *lol*
stid, I always get scared and leave the room when it gets too scarey!
My husbands best friend's wedding was 1/2 Lebanese mafioso and 1/2 Italian mafioso
no, not the only one here, jmc, that's for sure
me too

Why is it so stressful when you get down towards the end instead of being a relief? I have 10 left and I'm exhusted.
baby bear + rock of **** for the 7
nm, just got it
co4/6 is a fish plus vowel. Next co4/6 is plural of the fish. co 4/7 is Laura Cr***: Tomb Raider. co 4/5 is co plus a smallest state abbreviation reversed. co 4/6: sometimes I can't co** with the grids.A co 5/14 is co plus I ***y you finish the grid soon Trifioso. A co 5/12 is co + small river. Those are all of co words Trifioso.
ty, lbd

I call this icon our "Family Photo"! LOL! I am fine. Will probably hurt like hell tomorrow though!
Oh dear, car!

jili, it was in honor of a player named Team Edward -- the lovely young lady in my photo is def NOT Team Edward!
i am falling asleep at the keyboard, so I will say zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I just search the log for clues. Just finished
I'm not racing to finish, just poking around. thanks tho.
wtg on finishing, BJ :)
ad5?
I know what you mean O2...
if I finish, good; if I don't, no worries!
=)
What Brad and angie did to get kids....
thx BJ :)

what you would be feeling if you REALLY wanted to finish but still had 29 left =)
nm...got it ;)
an+ all consonants
I'd feel in a hurry!!!
people who worry about everything are full of an***
chog is slow tonight
thx BJ :)
that's what I was thinking O2...and this close to flip...it's kinda odd...
co4/5?
had a couple in here abuot an hour ago. think those left went into silent mode....
misspelling of church singing group
thx ;)
oh, bridge dwellers, BJ?
Trolls are smarter.......
* giggle *
and meaner
1 word to go now...a 7
let me guess, the ap7?
nope
based on your assumption, I'm sure now it's gonna be a fish
heh, not necessarily. I'm missing one 7 too.
the PR?
well, the pr7 is too obvious
nm...fish it was! FIREWORDS!
apparently, not using lickety
congrats!!
thx ;)
thx for keeping me company! (and the clues)
the ba is kinda wierd makes me think combo hippy headgear and mexican headgear.....
yw
cute, BJ...it does do that, doesn't it? :)
what letters are you missing, O2?
i suppose the one you were missing was the plural?
who me? I was missing the pr7...
oh, most of them Pini, no worries. =)
That one is a bit of a gordian knot, even for this game....
goridan knot?
exceptionally intricate knot, almost impossible to unravel unless you pull the rigth end the first time. pull anything else and it just tightens like a constrictor....
yikes!!! was just thinking it must be some evil know :) (almost like a figure 8)
(the word is almost a figure 8, I mean)
heh, thx that helped
the knot sounded "intricate" ;)
fish indeed
how are you coming along, O2?
down to 24, but slowing down, I was actually checking email =)
oh, no worries...just didn't want you to think we bailed on ya :)
bail away =)
there's not too many places to bail to when waiting for grid flip! LOL
true =)
ok then, I am missing one c in the upper left
I have the money one
add a vowel (sounds spanish)
indeed it does.
baflyn -- did I mention before that I have friends in Evergreen?
I frequently wonder who decides which words are babble-worthy =)
hi jilli! yes, they have dogs, don't they?
see my bio, baflyn, for a description (scroll down a bit)
yes, baflyn -- Great Danes
they keep telling me about this ENABLE thing...not sure it's real!
hi jilli ;)
the description I'm talking about is of Enable
hi pini
very nice. =) BIG dogs!
do you know them?
Oh, I know it's there, jilli...I still have this feeling that its imaginary!! LOL
Now have to call Pini a doubting Thomas too
hmmm... well sometimes it doesn't accept fairly common words and it seems to have interesting ideas about what is or isn't proper and/or foreign
or Thomette! :)
just through work, jilli... we have a couple of clients who have them
work?
Thomasina
vet clinic
* blush *
of course :)
anyway, clues available here if needed
I've thrown in the towel, just waiting now. =)
450 words in the next grid because I won't be here?
not that I don't still look at the board, it's just a different sort of looking =)
where're you going?
oh jilli!! naughty
