now that's cold
we're still holding at 8-10C here (46 - 50F) but cloudy with very occasional showers (none today)
must be flosey and out of you as well
don't talk to me about moisture.
yes, west, I believe it is
the wind has been howling like a freight train
hey ruru
hi ruru -- having trouble housebreaking?
flosey do you have indoor animals?
NO.. jilli.. I am house-broken already
we have a cat but he spends most of his time outdoors
but we were advised to water the plants more frequently
halfway thru!
you know perfectly well what I mean, ruru :-/
that is good advice
wd pav!
ruru will hire someone to go for Dylan

what's that bottom center E? I saw PAV say something about bank transactions earlier... ? (my last BT)
I think it's a salamander rbud
baby newts, rbud -- don't know what pav was talking about
must be like ATM or something
when you wire money, the bank calls it an ef 4
Electronic Funds Transfer, maybe
ty joey, and how are you dling?
ah, googled it, thanks! :)
*doing
well there you go
that makes sense (the initials, I mean)
I've had them for years and didn't make the connection
HI
I'm thinking about getting rid of one of my credit cards after hearing what they are planning to do
what is that, west?
hi herin
I have a zero balance and haven't used it in over a year I don't want to be charged a fee nfor non-use
for*
hello herin
I have one credit card and use it all the time but pay in full every month.
I have 3 but use 1 mostly and do the same thing you do jilli
we are fortunate that we can do that
I do too, and everything goes on that card - hydro, phone, etc. etc.
I don't use CC for 5 years now, since we moved to Germany ; online I only use Paypal direct debit or transfer
((((((( herin ))))))))
more companies prefer paypal
yes but some are still very reluntant. it was a fight to get flickr to accept paypal again and without cc
sorry to hear that
is it fixed now?
down to 4 that I cannot find -- maybe I'll be more brilliant tomorrow :)
I do remember having to have a credit card to open my paypal account but that was years ago
more or less, doesn't quite work for everyone and they embedded paypal payments on yahoo's wallet which means that in order to use PP on flickr, you have to provide your financial data to yahoo .
I don't like sharing information
that is to say I don't like others sharing my info
my .com PP account I needed a credit card; for the German account you don't need if you have a german bank account that allows direct debits
I'm the world's best on line shopper it is so convenient
Hello OSGMA. Sorry
not only is it convenient as most of the times cheaper
s'ok, OSGD!
very true
Hallo Herin
well, for Canadians shopping online in the States it can be expensive -- extra duty and taxes, and cost of returning things if not satisfactory
I try to avoid the ones that ask for taxes and do free shipping whenever I can
HI Farr. I was just checking my blog
I'm sure it won't be long before all states require taxes for on-line shopping
used to love shopping in New Hampshire
we can't avoid the duty thing, and a while ago I bought something with free shipping but it wasn't right -- it cost me almost as much in postage to return it as the item cost. Free returns are USA only -- we get nailed.
I never buy in the US because of the shipping price and it always get stuck on customs. Funny is when I buy from Japan, it never gets stuck
that can be a real problem jilli I shop on-line at a lot of brick and mortar stores so can return things that way
I had no idea you had to pay duty and customs
we certainly do run the gamut of subjects here, don't we?
the online stores we shop at don't have brick-and-mortar here.
everything coming out of the european union is considered imports, therefore one has to pay taxes over it ;-) there is a maximum non payable but with the shipping costs is almost impossible to buy anything
fireworks
hi all!
yay anike !!
YAY anike!!!
hi dee how's your shoulder?

Well, once through the list and 49 left. Also watching Obama's debate on CNN.
And need a small break :)
who is he debating? I hadn't heard
I didn't know he was eiether
either.. even...
my blood pressure goes too high if I watch...
I just hate to watch the news anymore
meeee too west
I read enough of it on-line
I am watching Wipeout. I was out half the day. my brain hurts
what is that herin
a show about surfers?
oooh, what brain food can we give herin...
Err now stupid American game show
I have never seen it and I think I'm glad lol
we love to import all our gems lol
lol
I am trying to cool off. I felt very ill before
it's hard to remember that you are having summer while we are freezing
hope you didn't get heat stroke
heat can really get you down
No heat stroke. I just don't deal with being out side too long. I did buy my sneakers
that's good now you can stay in and cool off
I think I do worse in excessive heat than in excessive cold
me too dee at least with the cold we can layer our clothing
Obama was debating the Republican caucus -- fascinating. I'm sure you'll be hearing about it if you watch the news at all.
exactly
and bought coffee. if i had to drink instant stuff again tommorrow I would not be happy
I'm sorry I missed it jilli
This was on live TV today -- I'm watching a rerun summary
oh herin that is the worst
It was so bad that even my b.f that will and does eat/drink most things tossed it
I have a cat question. Every night when I sit and babble the old cat sits on the arm of my chair and bites her nails the sound is enough to drive me up a wall
the only instant coffee I can stand is the suisse international brand
oh, funny cat!
I think I'd invite that cat outside for a bit
she just clicks them and it's really annoying
lol flosey can't do that it's about -10F wind chill
wow, that's chilly
hi flosey, nice icon
we are having an Arctic blast
hi Dee, thanks, was difficult to find squares in nature
I like it too flosey do you know where it is?
this isn't, exactly, but best I could do
very nice :)
no idea west, just googled it
I'm disappointed that my icon, which really did find squares (sort of) in nature, seems to have been overlooked.
oh jilli, sorry, not overlooked, I read it, interesting
I commented jilli and I thought of you working in the hotel
and the icy cold water
it was there, wasn't it?
always very interesting... just noticed the colors of flosey's right off; black and white is hard to see in the puny icons on my screen
west, your memory of items about other people is truly amazing!
yes, it was there.
I also think that the photograph is brilliant
I love your story jilli even the sad parts I wish you would write it all down
so true about west and always remembering... really appreciate that trait
hugs to west
would be helpful if I could remember where I put things lol
lol
hugs back jilli
West your cat does it to pee you off and to even out the claws. My cat does it to clean her paws. My friends cat did it as a nueratic thing
I think you're right herin I'm not paying enough attention to her and my laptop is taking her favorite place
Hi, gang! NBT
how are your two kitties?
hi jellen and wtg !!
wtg jell
before I go to the list may I have the stats for the 9 please?
Hi Jellen
West kitties do that
ar 8/40 and ar 9/54 its plural
don't have it west
I know lol
thanks dee
yw
too warm need sleep. hi flossey too
hi herin
got them !!
clue?
wtg
starts with 'bum' ends with cheeks lol
or a man's name and plural
Ooh, got them, too!
pretty good clue huh? lol
good clue but I can't think
you have to speak Brit for the first part
OR ar + division of Congress
he's a pain in the ar**
that jo7 (girl's name) is also an old gold Portuguese coin, fer hevvinsake
same thing jellen lol
that must be my last j
a crime of lighting fires (sub a different vowel at end of that word) + en 5 (and 6) minus the 1st e....
Thank you
Farruska would know it jilli
i got stuck with the word to kill someone
yw
maybe, west, although it's antique
she's originally from Portugal
or maybe you already knew that
22 to go and think I'm ready to sleep, goodnight all
G'night, flosey
good night flosey sleep well and no floods
thanks west, for sure, had enough of that
night flosey
yes, west, I did know about farruska's being from Portugal -- and trilingual, at least!
pretty amazing
never would have found ro5/10 without morewords
runs about nakkid since efveryone is gown
go for it herin just don't answer the door
when it's hot I like a cool shower and air-dry ;)
I can never get dry when it's hot and humid
see when I say that the chat lives up how embarising
so I dress in front of the a/c
we're just getting our second winds lol
no a/c here
we do need it upstairs we're right against the roof so it's like an oven
fireworks
YAY dee!!!
yay dee !!
Yah Volley
ty
my house is one storey.
If I could stop chatting I might be further on
I wish mine were on one floor
lol so true west; takes me all night when I chat
I can say earlier i sacked out infront of the air con with a towel toga
we think the second floor was an add-on
but chat with you is more than half the fun
great idea herin
agree jili
may I help anyone?
it is fun to chat that's why I like this game so much
still too many but thanks dee
how odd of the Ladies to add a floor -- or was it a previous owner?
yqw... too many repeated letters, so I used lickety very early
we think they must have there is a bedroom on the first floor but they turned that into a den
oh west, i learned how to do 2 new things today!
2 bedrooms and the teeniest bathroom on the second
outstanding !! I told you you'd be teaching a class in no time
I made a new icon for babble, and I learned how to recolor a background on a picture in adobe 8. I still don't like it as well as the old one, but at least I got it accomplished
there are so many things to learn good job !!
lol doubtful... the newer software is illogical, so when I return to do the same thing, I forgot what I did... I am going to have to take better notes
I imagine it will all fall into place
Oh, and I messed about in MS Paint... interesting, but I doubt I ever use that
it really is amazing what there is
the new recipe software is junk... keeps having conflicts with windows 7, so I may have that removed
I remember our first computer and printer
My first computer was a Amiga
I remember those
I am trying to figure out a way to do recipes in word... I have had 2 softwares become antiquated with no updates and have lost those recipes, so thinking maybe I will just put them in word as a document
my 1st was a crutchfield
dee I didn't realize you could use different versions of windows on the same computer
I really don't care much for word but I haven't tried to learn much about it
I only have windows 7 home premium...
I don't like that it second guesses me
agree
my husband is jonesing for the new iPad lol
I liked the old word in office small business 2000; it allowed you to turn off those auto guesses; haven't figured out how to do that with this one yet
lol
I have used PC's at work and I loved the little paper clip guy
lol
if you want to type something on the iPad, do you have to put it down flat and peer over your hands to see what you've done?
is he still around?
I don't know... haven't looked for him yet
I don't think so jilli the keyboard is at the bottom
I have Word 97 -- guess I should upgrade but I seldom use it
I liked that one, too, jili
I can type on my iPhone without any trouble and that is much smaller
well, yes, but you'd still have to have it all flat
lots of my friends have moved back to word perfect because they don't like word
I never used word perfect -- used works
Good Evening/morning all, How is the grid today?
I just hold my iPhone in one hand and type with the other
Hi FM -- quite friendly -- love your icon
hi FM the grid isn't bad today
I don't have or need an iPhone
yes, good squares
I'm a fuddydud I guess
Hi westie Volley and jilli dear :)
saw 2 interesting movies this week; one was named "Strangers in Good Company" and the other "Arranged"... old netflix flics. Howdy fm
no, you're not jilli I do like mine though
I shall put them in my queue
what was the theme today?
great icon too jill and love yrs westie.
I'm always looking for new movies
have a piece FM lol
me, too, west; fortunately my brother is also a movie buff, so gives me lots to queue
oh, FM, I didn't see your squares -- was admiring the woods with the sun shining through
Good morning/evening all. We've got a little snow again.
the theme is 'squares in nature'
ty FM
what was the icon theme? I may have to see if I can change mine to match.
hello Haz
HI Haz. I will have snow for the 35C weather hear
oh no haz and hello
hmmmm brb
(here sorry)
waiting for your report
mm perfect for breakfast :) The tree icon is one of Ata's photos, she is so talented! Hi herin.
It's not a huge amount but it is cold again. Agree that Ata's picture is lovely.
she certainly is! (ata)
Good morning Haz, wondered if you would get some snow when I was watching the forecast this morning.
I have an aerial view must refresh
it didn't work or is there a very tiny tree in there?
I had got out of the habit of looking at the weather forecast, so this came as a bit of a surprise. Still, it is January.
sorry west, I changed my icon so you missed the tree pic.
Hi FM see now I can blame that typo on FM :P
oh, okay I'm sorry I missed it
*grin*
haz I have waited long enough to hear if you drove up and down the ramp for womankind
It is cold here but so bright and sunny, lovely to see a cloudless start to the day.
It's like old times. The volcano is back!
I'd so rather have sun and blue skies than grey
yes! I can cope with cold and bright but cold and grey just brings me down.
we were happy to see her haz
Haz, I'm so ashamed -- I didn't see the volcano until someone mentioned it!
here's a square from a pic my hubby took at the Outer Banks
that's outstanding dee!!
Good pic Volley
were you there recently?
great photo, dee!
he is an amazing photographer at landscapes and outside, but awful at portraits. Two summers ago.
It's not your fault, jillibus, I blame Dr-G for neglecting the volcano.
Ty jili
hi and nbt
btw, those who just arrived, the buffalo is here too
my favorite place ever
wtg josh
hi josh..where'd you go???
hi josh
west I think Haz missed yr question - she did do the ramp.
I must go now but I would really like haz to tell me
i went to restart my browser after it crashed after commenting on babble, like always
ah she's modest
Sorry, west, was attending to Spangle. Yes, I did the ramp of doom and emerged victorious.
I know josh..just joshing ya'
nyuk nyuk
woop woop woo woo woo
Hi josh
trumpets blaring for haz !!
I refused help twice. It was scary but doable.
ramp of doom?
you are one brave woman
I'm just stubborn, westford!
*pins rosette on Haz*
Jillibus, I took my car to have it steam cleaned underneath. This entailed driving the car up a ramp until the car was about 10 feet up, small guide rails but a void underneath for the man to stand. That's not so bad, it's reversing back down again at an angle.
sorry I just found something too funny to watch
Most women let the men at the cleaning place do it for them. My reckoning is that if I drive a car, I should be able to do it myself.
I don't have the same theory when it comes to anything mechanical, I'm happy to play the helpless female at those times.
Ooh Haz! You ARE brave!
Thankfully, I only have to be brave once a year....
LOL!
Anyway, it was all for a good cause, it was to help get my car ready for its annual inspection for roadworthiness - it passed.
congrats haz on your courage! You are much braver than I! Well, all, I must bid you adieu.
I wonder if my car has ever been steam cleaned underneath. I just take it in and leave it for servicing. They vacuum the floors and wash it, but underneath . . I don't now
Thanks, Volley, have a good day.
good night dee sleep peacefully
you, too; have a great day/eve... poofing with hugs!
I do feel sorry for the man who has to do the steam cleaning. Such a drippy job.
I don't know, I mean (typo time has arrived -- bedtime approaches)
I was wondering the same thing jilli we had our engine steam cleaned once but that was at ground level
Bye Volley and I must go too forgot I am supposed to be emailing something out for a client! Back in about half an hour.
night dee!
See you later, FM.
and I am going as well
good-bye everyone
bye west
laters
I think just about every word here has a plural
Bye westford.
s
* * fireworks * *
Well done, jillibus!
thanks, Haz
Does anyone here need help yet?
Wtg, jilli!
ty jellen :)
Not me, thanks.
pretty late for you, isn't it, jellen?
No, thank you...I have 50 left...
Yes, it is...I've become quite a night owl lately...
Well, I'll head for bed, then -- happy babbling, all!
G'night, jilli
Good night, jillibus, sleep well.
and *poof*
gd morning everybody
Good morning, ruby.
Hello, ruby
hello hello, haz and jellen
we had snow again last night, maybe it wil clean the stinky dogs!
I wouldn't rely on it, ruby.
it can't be worse than rain....
Hi Haz Jellen & Ruby
It still ends up wet.
Good evening, lynxxx.
Hi, lynxxx
hi lynxxx
and big footprints all over the house
Back again and Hi lynxxx ruby and Jellen!
hi FM
Hi, FMitch
hi FM
Hello again, FM>
Jellen haven't seen you for a while hope you are well and how is the other half doing?
Haz, I was looking at new TVs yesterday, technology has gone leaps and bounds from the sets I currently have but sheesh the cost!
I know. The first time I looked at TVs I couldn't understand where the backs of them had gone, they're all so slim.
I am well, and Tim is recovering from a mild bug, but otherwise fine.
Can't get channel 5 here as you have to be digital and none of my sets are. Good to hear Jellen.
To be honest, unless you have a huge screen, I doubt if all the HD stuff is worth it.
The size of some of the TVs makes you think that they would need a room all of their own.
but you can buy a box to convert FM and they are very cheap
I know! To replace 3 TVs is going to cost about £900 but inc in that is the installation, tutorial and removal of old sets. Yes lynxx am definately looking at that option in the light of the ££
Everybody will have to go digital over here by 2012. They're switching off the analogue service. (Just because I've typed this, doesn't mean that I understand any of it.)
our HD isn't that big, but it's in a small room, just at the foot of the bed, and what it's good for is that it makes eyes look incredible! You can see all the color flecks in light eyes (also, unfortunately, all the pock marks, etc.)
lol HAz
They are doing the same here Haz
I used Nectar points at Sainsburys to buy one TV.... or at least to put towards the cost.
We took the plunge for digital when we revamped a bedroom into a small sitting room and needed to put a TV in there. There seemed no point in buying anything other than digital and then of course, it made the old TV look worse.
When I took Mum out shopping last week at Sainsburys the nice lady at the till put all the points on my card as Mum didn't have one.
You should take your Mum shopping more often!
Indeed esp as she spent about £80!
The points do add up quite nicely, I had racked up about £80 worth last year.
What is your icon FM? an aerial shot of your new house
It is good being that much nearer to her, am able to take her to hospital in a couple of weeks for a check up - before it would have been a marathon to try and organise.
You made the right move, there's no doubt about that.
That shot is definitely not of Irish fields - our patchwork of fields is never as regular as that!
lynxx, am following todays icon theme, squares from nature, although given that I am surrounded by farms and rural idyll it is not that far off the mark I guess :)
You have been sounding very happy FM, the move was obviously overdue anyway
:)
another Ata theme
Shame she is not around to join in, don't think she is back yet.
where did ata go?
She'll flop in one of these days.
Ata is visiting her sister in the Cotswolds.
aeon
I must go. I'm enjoying the chat, but my brain's too slow to chime in...
Oh Haz, talking of which, do you know yet wich hotel you will be staying at?
whoops, sorry, too excited to find that. PB for me
Yes, the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington.
Nighty night Jellen
Bye Jellen. Pleased to hear Tims getting better
Bye, Jellen.
Oh very nice!!! anmd central too, perfect!
BBS need to set table for dinner
See you later, lynxxx.
enjoy dinner
Yes, it's billed as being pretty central, apparently it's being renovated but it should mostly be finished by the time we get there.
I've already checked out the train time tables.
Fingers crossed British Rail don't go on strike. Is there still British Rail or is it all divided up now?
ruby Haz and I met up a year ago for the first time Ata and I have met up many times over the last couple of years but we are hoping that the 3 of us will meet up at the end of Feb - so exciting!
that is so nice!
Southern Rail I think here but then again who knows, so long as it works then I don't mind.
I've only spoken to Ata on the phone, it'll be interesting to see her in the flesh.
three babblers walked into a bar......
LOL and the first babbler said "crwth"
the welsh one
I'd be better with the Scots words.
the 2nd babbler said "ywis" and after that the all fell about laughing at etuis, eros and nene and the lipstick tree (which hasn't been in the grid for ages)
too funny
It's funny, I was thinking about the lipstick tree this morning - the letters are there, just not in the right place.
what's the lipstick tree?
anatto
I remember it from the early days as it used to appear quite often and with variant spellings, now I would be hard pushed to spot it.
I think anatto is a colorant used in Cuban and PR food!
sazon goya
Let me check, I'll google it.
*puts kettle on whilst Haz googles*
annato - definitely lipstick tree, and variations thereof.
oh that was quick!
arnatto is the dye.
so why isn't it allowed?
It's not in the grid.
It's just that the letters were there, just not in the right places.
Am going to take a walk into the village and get the weekend papers. TTFN and Happy Babbling
Bye FM. I'm going as well, shopping to do.... See you later, bye ruby!
bye haz, as always, tks for the illumination!
have a nice day
No problem! *gone*
bye FM
na5/10 please
na & ***t or exam
TY lynxxx, got it
yw, and hi
Hi everyone!
hi Brookie
How are you doing today? Do you know I have a friend from Australia visiting me in a couple weeks?
hi everyone
hi andree!
i am watching the tennis
Is it a good match?
hi Andree. Hugo is too cute, looks like a rascal
Brookie, am very well. Where is your friend from again?
Melboune. We met on eHarmony.
yes serena is getting a run for her money but looks like winning
I'm extremely nervous, in a good way!
I'd participate in the tennis chat, but I'm afraid I'm an ignoramous on that subject!
Wow..a potential love match. Well melbourne is a good town - hope he doesn't spoil our reputation!
He loves where he lives. The only problem is, with my children, I'm not in a position to move out there.
me too this year this is the first i have watched the game through, final is usually a good match
But this is our first meeting, so I'll try not to get ahead of myself!
Why is that? Your ex has access? but you are right - early days yet!
brookie, good luck with the meeting, i do think you are brave
It's primarily my oldest son that is the issue... my ex and I have 50/50 custody.
thats it serena wins yet another grand slam
Well, he'll be here Feb. 13th - March 3rd, so I'll let you know how it goes! :-)
is he staying with you?
He's not staying with me the first 2 nights, as my oldest son will be with me, but after that he is.
Just in time for Valentine's day, how romantic. Another babbler met some-one on line, they are now engaged, living together and seem very very happy
Of course, if I don't like him, I guess I don't have to invite him in!
It's amazing how many matches are made online
Where in Melbourne is he from Brookie?
what if you don't like him and he is expecting to stay
Good question. I'll find out his address. (He doesn't have my full address yet, either.) My dad is a major cyberstalker of all my potential suitors, and Nick (my friend in Melbourne) said he's happy to show him his passports and drivers license.
if i don't like him i guess he'll stay in a hotel the whole time.
but i think i'll like him. We've emailed/chatted/and Skyped for hours and hours and hours.
morning Babblers - hope you are all well, feisty and looking forward to the WEEKend
Good morning, bojazz!
hi Bojazz
hi boj
phantom:starnose
You're very smart, lynxxx, I didn't see that one!
not smart, just playing to long
lolo
lol, i meant
Knock Knock!
who's there?
Pencil.
Pencil who@
pencil who
Pencil fall down if you don't have a belt.
lol bab
groan
rofl, BR
Brookie - hope the intercontinental romance works out - romance is wonderful. i can say this about Austrailians - everyone of them i met were very, very nice, and friendly folks
na5.10 is an extremely good ending
hi BR & Soodle - good joke BR. think my grands will get a chuckle out of that
Morning all. Brookie - I am very excited for you. Hope it works out very well.
hi Soodle
hi soodle
to bed for me, bye all and happy babbling
everybody left for breakfast or went back to bed???
brookie will be looking forward to hearing about your meeting, hope valentines day is a good sign for you
goodnight Andree
I'm not seeing anymore so I will be off too - night everyone
Just got back on... good night lynxxx and sorry i missed andree
and thanks for the comments bojazzand soodle
hey brookie..i speak from experience..net relationships can work out really well...but we didnt have the complication of younger kids
Hi Rolin, how are you doing?
im good... looking out on a beautiful day..if a little chilly
As far as the children, that will be a "complication" regardless if I met someone on the Internet or if I meet them in more traditional circumstances.
I've been finding out really quickly which men are kid-friendly and which ones aren't.
Brookie - do you have a dog?
No, I don't, bojazz. Why do you ask?
absolutely..and thats the way to look at it... how different is it to meeting someone r/t in a bar or a party
i read somewhere that you can judge a man pretty well by the way he treats your dog - that got me in well with my last girl friend
That's good advice, bojazz, and belated congrats for making a fine impression on your last girlfriend!
her dog took to me right away and smoothed things over nicely at the beginning
That's very sweet!
neede all the help i could get - she's much, much younger than me
How much younger?
young enough to be my daughter - pretty big gap
my daughter was not amused - at all1
Well, I'm glad her dog saw through the age barrier right away.
I'm going back to bed now... have a great day!
hi
hi msilver
My last relationship worked well with a 19 year age gap.
hi FM
Hi bo
age is a state of mind - it's what you make of it
exactly
FM - your icon. is that an aerial phot of your estate???
photo
Oh I wish! no it's just a pic following the icon theme today of squares in nature.
am i considered part of nature? my children sometimes think of me as "square"
LOL
With the lose terms re icons I am sure you could happily put up a pic of yrself and follow the theme :)
my pic might frighten the choggers to the point of departure - btw were you on yesterday when the school kids took over the chog?
my DH was only 2 years younger than you I realise looking at yr boi
yes bo, we do get an influx from time to time but it's no big deal - not like the trolls we used to get.
aaaah - didn't know about that
Have seen a lot of coming and going in the chog over the years :)
births, deaths and a few marriages too.
What happened with the school kids? were they diruptive?
i enjoy reading the comments - often times very entertaining and funny - sometimes helpful to the clueless, like me
Hi soodle, ho they were just the usual 'give me a word' etc and then class was over.
they dominated the chog and then began running long strings of letters and symbols - BR got in touch with Dr G and he shut them down
Back in 10 have some emails to deal with.
I have never come across trolls etc on Babble!
well, duty calls so i am off to work - my wish for the very best day for all!! :)
Cheers Bo. and you.
morning, babblers
morning all
ar8, ne8, and ?
ar8 - crude word for nether regions, and word pertaining to birth,
no, i have those, i am asking what the other 8 starts with.
Ah. Sorry hursh - haven't got them yet.
no help here, I just started, hursh
Enjoying the fact that the grid is full of SNO this morning, as we have our great winter storm here in NC
it's a good grid, i found all but 9 of the words easily, now am stuck on those
I'm using a laptop for the first time, and finding the mouseless condidion very difficult.
hursh-ta7,8 and good morning to all
thanks eva!
I found an ar8 which a salt and plural
*is
and hello everyone
Morning everyone. How many Inches Fuquay? I've been hearing about the storm on FB.
good morning, red, eva, hurshy, fv, etal
so far about 4 maybe here, but probably more west and north of us
4 is plenty for your area. So glad I am not there, I hate driving int hat stuff.
so glad it's a weekend and no question of having to go anywhere
yes, the weekend makes it better. less people getting out.
Did I murder the chat accidently?
no red, you didnt. was deep into the grid. how is the new job?
THank you Annie.
the New job is going to be alright. It looks as if I can advance if I play my cards correctly, the policies etc at the hospital are a bit behind the nation...
What is New with you?
red, then you know, play your cards right. What's new..well, my friend was mugged Tuesday morining on the way to work and he knocked her down and she broke a bone in her knee. I have been busy going back and forth to the hospital.
Annie, that is terrible!!!! the knee can be so painful. I hope she is getting good treatment....
red, she is 76 years old and I hope she heals well. Today she is going to a rehab center which is supposed to be a good one. I hope.
Oh no. If you can bring in Cookies for the staff, sadly, this will ensure they treat her a bit better.
I am so sorry that has happened.
I will be going to see her later and will bring cookies.
That sort of thing really aggravates me, people are such animals.
Ok, I am going for Coffee, would anyone like a refill
good morning. That mugging was awful. There is a guy here in Canada who is being chased by the cops. He goes into nursing homes and pretends to be a relative and robs seniors.
I hope the mugger rots. She is also upset (besides the knee, of course) that we had tickets for a Broadway play which she wont get to see.
lowest of the low
oh sukee, how horrible.
Awful!
Oh Annie. I hope when she gets out of the rehab place you and her can go and enjoy something else on Broadway.
red, in your opinion, will she be able to walk eventually? I am very upset about this.
Mugging and robbery are bad enough but preying on the elderly is just beyond contempt
It;s hard to say since I dont know the injury, but- they sent her to the facility as a short term rehab?
I think so. She will be there for 21 days which is what Medicare covers. Then I dont know.
A lot will depend on her condition before the injury, her motivation, and such
She may have to walk with a walker or a cane...
So I imagine taking the subways is not feasible anymore. She is in excellent shape and we went everywhere by public transportation. She is a childhood friend. I know her for 70 years.
With the excellent physical condition, she has a much better chance of regaining her independence. a lot of people use a cane and get around on Subways well...
Annie, Red, everyone, hello. I've been lurking and actually have to go now but the story about your friend just sickens me. I will certainly remember her on my prayer list if you don't mind.
That is encouraging. We will have to wait and see. The next 6 weeks will tell the tale.
Marmar, Thank you so much. I will tell her.
Yes. I think anytime someone older than 60 falls we get nervous, but if she feels motivated, and can do the rehab, things could turn out pretty well.
No problem, bye all, best wishes for the rest of the weekend.
She is motivated..wants to be active again. We have to keep her spirits up.
Thanks red..I will tell her I "spoke" to you and to keep on truckin.
THe thing is that she may have some aches and pains that are new, but...I think most people would take some aching when walking compared to not getting on with regular activites. THis is just something I hate to hear. :(
red, not walking is hellish to her so I am sure she will push herself to walk. Just horrible, horrible.
oh, Annie, I'm so very sorry to hear about your friend! Hope her rehab time is successful -- I know it helps to have such a sweet, attentive friend as you!
Thanks Une. I hope she has great success in beginning to walk again so4.
grrrr . . . wish we Babblers could get our hands on the guy who did it!
We would tear him from limb to limb. grrrr is right.
indeed!!
She never saw his face. It all happened from behind. she saw him running away.
i can only imagine the mix of emotions she must be feeling -- anger, fear, frustration -- tell her there are a LOT of strangers here in BabbleLand who send her best wishes for a full recovery!
Une, Thanks so much. I will certainly tell her that.
Are there really tht many words beginning with se?
a chamber of congress and plural
methinks I've only barely begun with the se's!
HI BR! I have those too, thanks
south of the border hims and hers
and I believe se5/10 and se6/18 were in yesterday's grid: se + 2000 lbs
tx BR!!
thank you both!
and se5/6 that's almost a standard Crayon color
sorry annie i had to get some light housekeeping done.
hey red :-)
red, How is Teulu?
he's doing well, much calmer lately, he is getting to be an old guy!
my Beagle mix was freaked out this morning -- she was too light to break thru the ice crust on top of the snow --"where's the ground???"
oh une! the weather is amazing! did she slip and slide?
a device that responds to a stimulus or signal and plural
I think of all the dogs on Babble as my extended pet family. Lucky dogs to have such great owners.
no slipping, but my larger coon mix dog was wobbly as each paw would break thru the crust but the others stayed on top!
thanks, BR, have those two.
at first I thought she'd hurt her leg!
tx again, BR!!
my terrier mix thinks the snow is just too fab for words! LOL
How many dogs do you have, Une?
3 -- all rescues :-)
BR interesting stuff in your profile about prayer and forgiveness.
What are their names and what breed are they or mix?
do they play tennis, Une?
Snowball is a little Beagle mix . . . Shelby is a terrier/shepherd-ish mix . . . and Momma is a large-ish coondog mix :-)
it's really weird, BR -- none of them even want to play catch with a tennis ball . . .but Shelby LOVES to play catch with her "Mean Kitty" stuffed toy LOL
Snowball is the one I am familiar with.
right :-)
LOL, teulu has a "Mean Kitty toy" too. He has not gotten into it though, one of his Holiday gifts.
Red, I've had to sew Mean Kitty's ears back on several times! LOL
Annie -- here's Shelby riding shotgun :-)
I thought he would go for it, but I think he got too many toys. My family loves to give him gifts.
Red, I left an extra Mean Kitty at my mom's -- my brother came over with his Labradoodle who completely beheaded her! LOL
Une, I love that picture of Shelby. Does she speak?
Well, I like Mean kitty, so so far I am glad he hasn't gottne too into it...because he will shred it...
She "speaks" a little . . . but the big talker is Snowball the Beagle -- she and I have long howling sessions LOL!
Do you have a picture of Momma?
Ok I am taking a small break, be back in a bit.
and Momma was really quiet and standoffish at first, but now she's totally part of the gang!
Too many of the same letter in this grid!
oh red, thank you for the adivce about my friend Phyllis. See you later.
hello kaplan
Oh, hello.
Annie, here's Momma curled up in front of the fireplace at Xmas :-)
You only have to use the letters you need
morning everyone
Momma looks quite cozy. Lucky dogs.
morning, peri
Hello, peri
Une, you and that beagle ever get warned for disturbing the peace?
Annie, here's a closeup of Momma -- they named her that BTW 'cause they found her out at the fairgrounds with a litter of pups
BR, actually my mom's springer has made it clear that's not his favorite sound! LOL
Une, I thought you were talking about your human mama and then clicked on your icon and saw a dog LOL
peri LOL!!!!
Une, It just breaks my heart. Look at those eyes. How can hearless can people be.
Greetings from snowy Virginia!
lil*monkey in da house

Has it stopped snowing, Annie?
It never snowed here but it is a cold 16 degrees.
brrrrr.. stay warm
Aloy, How are the temps in SW Florida?
annie i am HOME!!!
much cooler than usual, Annie.. but sunny. We are still replacing plants we lost in the coldest spell in 33 years. Manatee and fish faired poorly , as did the crops.. not a good winter here in Fla.
Owl, Off the road and in your own bed. What could be better!
Aloy..yes, I read that in the paper. The manatee are struggling I hear.
took about five minutes to find the first ra4.4... don't know why I am so blind to that babblet.. (makes note to remember)
and I never saw the volcano till a babbler mentioned it.
cold shock, Annie... lots of dead fish
home for good!
Aloy, That is so sad.
yay, TO.. you sound happy to be there too
Owl, Is that job finished? I hope so.

hi TO & Kap
HI. spouse acting like an idiot this a.M. so am in foul mood.
Car wouldn't start. couldn't go to spin class at gym and work it off.
Whine whine whine etc.
No sympathy? Are you all taking HIS side?
Jeez, no relief even in Babbleland.
hello everybody
heya kaplan (((sympathy))
I feel like the painting on yr icon.
hi jacq
Kap - i'm taking absolutely NO sides, whatever the issue
hello bojazz
not taking sides but i do sympathise, it's difficult when you can't do anything about the reasons for their gripes
you want relief? take two shots of Scotch and call me in the morning
lol
only two shots won't provide relief, take 4 then you won't care
good point!
Is homicide allowed?
How 'bout giving me the ar8 and 9? That might help.
are you all wondering if you have "duty to warn"?
duty to warn applies mostly to tort law ... we don't have to worry about that here :)
"here," meaning Babbleland
ar + a house of congress (ad pl)
ty welki
Thank you kindly
'welcome
Hi all.
hi red
hi red.. no work today?
hi red, bo
I have the most enormous to do list. No work kje, I did an entire week of 9-5 m-f this week. Tuesday back to orientation!
hi welki
How is the weather kje, I heard you guys got a lot of cold.
what will you be doing at the new place red?
Emergency.
I don't really know how to do much else well.
upper 20s when I woke up... but will get up to the mid to high 30s
eeew. 64 here. chilly but not bad.
Hello all....I usually just lurk and look for hints but I have to share today that I am watching the most beautiful snow outside my window!
brrr...hello...snow here in NC
How is your recent team?
Hi gdine, welcome to non lurking! How much snow did you get?
hi gdine & phaeton
not on the wards right now, red
heard they had 4 inches in Raleigh
hi phaeton, gdine
Don't know how much but it's been snowing for several hours and doesn't look to be stopping any time soon...and I'm on Portsmouth, VA near VA Beach
yep
I have 14 left. They are all monkey words. Any help with the longer io's?
we got a sprinkling here...now sleet
Good morning
morning Scrabbler
hi, scrabb!
hi scrab
somebody explain "monkey words" to a novice, please
Monkey words are when you send the monkeys out to type randomly or to type all possible combos of words
Eventually even a monkey, tapping away at the keyboard, will find these words.
aaaaaaaah - thx Kap
then i am there! do it all the time :)
So how bout those long io's?
great ?? Kap
io + no4, + plural
I think there are a lot of words with vowels and suffix combos here
thx Scrabbler - had "monkeyed" all around that
don't forget to plural whatever you can
Yeah, those are exactly the kind of words that i don't like.
Kap - the Paul Lynde expression - a reflection of your mood today?
good day all
You betcha, as sarah P. would say.
hi again, I am sorry going to be popping in and out as I try to clean, and organize. so far, I have 48 words left a load of laundry in , the dishes done and dog walked. but the major stuff. errr, I have only 48 words left.
Or that was the dh this AM.
hi red
Sprite!
hi sprite
pretty birds
How 'bout jo7
there is a jo 7, ohhhh no.
crossy sees pretty birds....
thanks Sprite, I guess they are my birds?
yes red
hi crossy
it makes all the heat of Florida worth it.
Ok, the last 2 sa6's then.
they are impressive
I'm going to have to hang out here later ad pick up clues
hello crosshair
howdy sprite,bojazz,et al:)
hi sprite
i am back--mother is talking at me on the phone
Hi Scrabbs, how is Mom and you?
hi Srabs
Mom needs someone to listen to her while she rants about my father, life, etc
hi everyone! hi red, scrabbler - my name is in the grid today!
hi JBV
(jo 7 for those who don't know me)
hi jbv
I didn't know that was a word. TY, JBV
i didn't either, apparently it's a gold Portuguese coin
thanks JBV
thx jbv
TY JBV, I was unaware of that.
jbv - you come from "old" money lol
with an H as 3rd letter it is a rather common dutch name, JBV, for a male.
wish I had some :)
yes as in Brahms
Okey, with 42 left, I believe I actually have to do something on the to do list... grrr.
exactly
I knew you were from old money..
there are two other names among the j's
problem with today's grid: not nearly enough vowels!!
I am missing two j's :(
jThank for the jo71
hello rururocks
fell better ruru - i'm missing 5 J's
Hi sprite.. haven't seen you for a while..
a girl's name and plural, a boy's name plural, and a common last name
haven't played for a while
good morning everyone
and a spanish letter or dance and plural
then an anagram of the spanish letter (rearrange the vowels) and plural
the second se7? (not the house or the lady)
thanks JBV
not seeing the dance..
I havent been on this site for over 2 years now! Got an email from Dr God about it and I thought I better get back on. Good to see the site is still active.
wb Mully
I can't get your name JBV....help....too cold in NY for my brain to work!
the dance is a spanish letter between i and K
jo 7 starts with one of the sisters in Little WOmen, ends with another girl's name, also in the grid, an 4
second se7?
wow.. Dr G reminded you to play again?
Hi Mully
probably removing inactive accounts
heya sprite!
hey kje :)
Ruru, is Dylan at your home now?
Well Dr God didnt remind me, it was just a usual email about"Giving the gift of babble pro", I just hadnt logged in to that account in a while.
yep.. he is here scrabs...
kap, I don't have all the s's yet, i have se 7 - a mechanical device that detects signals
draggin around shoes (he has a foot fetish)
How is the little sweetheart?
I have that one- i need the last one I think
The second to last ar6? Not the fire-related one
Hi All
ar 6 - like a tv host, ar***i* Hall
Hi hego
hello hego
he is a really great little dog..scrabs.. he is really wonderful.. very funny and very well-mannered...but one thing
TY, JBV
...he is a puppy! So there will be trouble!
thx jbv - old money or not
he is like a gillette razor blade
His teeth are sharp, huh?
ok- gotta work on the ta7 and 8
OMG.. like piranhas
I actually managed to keep one of Terra's front teeth, ruru. They are literally like needles. Only stronger.
ta7 - sun kissed mr hawthorne
How are the bunnies Scrab and yourself?
then plural
Yesterday I was playing with my friend's 2 yr old Chocolate Lab and a 1 yr old Peke-a-Poo.

Kaplan, you and I know all the same folks. Dates us considerably.

hego- yup.
I have heard the name estes kefauver... but couldn't tell you who he was if I had to for my life
wA
He was a US senator
from Tennessee
Was the kefauver commission the one about pornography. (He was a senator)
last se6 and last 2 sa6. Gotta stay focused- keep those monkeys flying.
I don't think so
Oh, god- we're all in the PB!!!
just looked it up - monopolies
well... senators and congressmen know a lot about pornography and sex
"It was the first committee made up of senators from around the country organized to not only gain a better understanding of how to fight organized crime, but also to expose organized crime for the conglomerate empire that it was.[1] However, in a major mistake, they focused only on Italain gangs, and ignored other ethnic groups, such as Detroits Purple Gang, and Micky Chen's entire California operation, among others."
from wikipedia

lolllll if that isn't a freudian slip, kje :D
hahaha
:-D
and they should be lining up at your front door. Fools for not grabbing the chance now you are free.
one se6 = pl of se5 preceding. the other starts same but ends with watering h***
most guys in texas are a bit slow sprite
I have a sweet guy and all he's doing is running around like a nut because he's late again.
not courting kje as so4 as they can is more than a bit slow, ruru
sorry' need last se6 and second to last sa6. Got confused
I'll have to get my own food. sigh
my values/politics/etc are somewhat out of step for your average texas guy... and they take it seriously
aw hego
I still think they are fools, kje
(I'll say)
the second sa6/18. That is it!
good morning....
hello Pinik
Enjoy being independant is all I will say!

I listened to the gubernatorial debate last night on NPR and one of them was literally giving the argument about how it is our duty as citizens to keep the secessionoption open to make sure DC complies with the constitution

weed - I was worried it was the monster coming for me
Somebody feed the woman!!
oh, SUCH a brat, bragging about still being in bed! jealous here.
you better not have any bad mojo in your past kje, or the monster will know!
well... that is what happens when one is beau-less... can do what one wants
my whole life is bad mojo
maybe beauless but still beautiful
there's a good side to everything
i bet you're toasty warm too under the covers. brrr.
sprite... have you watched Lost?
*kicks the cabana boys into the PB kitchen* they will sort out a feast I am sure kje.
not yet, kje. Should I?
maybe, but after you kicked them, they are likely to spit in it, FM
yes, sprite, you should... I just got suckered in... started with the first episode and watched all 5 seasons in 2 weeks - awesome
oh wonderful, will make sure to watch the series then! I love series like that on dvd.
it is a thinkers show, sprite... lots of mysteries to solve
how did you get started on the first episode kje? what prompted it?
but you must start with the pilot and go in order... everything builds
oh lovely. Thanks for the hint, kje, am going to get them.
that is george bush's favorite tv show
hush, ruru.
i'm thinking of cleaning the kitchen and making brownies once nick goes down for a nap
uh oh
funny, weed, someone asked me last night and I can't remember what made me watch that first one on netflix... cuz usually when people mention it, I just say, nah, don't like it (after seeing one episode part way through the second season... can't start there)
seriously, ru? or are you trying to be clever?
brownies!!!!!!
well, fireflies. Looks like I haven't unlearned all yet. Bye all.

brownie soup maybe?
OK, soup and brownies is enough reason to get out of bed and go to the grocery store....
see ya later - still have 36 to go
we had a soup day at school yesterday. 10-12 different soups to try! i tried 5. yummmmm.
it could be an interesting dessert ru, I will develop it ; )
picturing chunks of brownie floating in some type of melted ice cream soup. yum.
with whipped cream!
and raspberries
or a hot chocolate base! with ice cream chunks and brownie chunks. the ice cream would melt in of course.
I'm overwhelmed.
by the grid or by the dessert?
dessert, definitely
lol. ok, gotta go put nick down for his nap and start on the kitchen. bye!
Bye FB
OK, here is the soup I will make
http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food /views/Chicken-Soup-with-Asparagus-and -Shiitakes-Served-with-Roasted-Fennel- Matzoh-Balls-351689
will let you know how it turns out... wanted to try something new
sounds ambitious kje
nah... just read it - easy
I use epicurious a lot for ideas
i use them a lot to remember recipes I have seen in bon appetit, since I don't want to save all those mags
OK, toodles.... hagd
bye kje enjoy your soup!
weird breakfast idea
huh?
I couldn't think about chicken soup for breakfast
I think she meant lunch Ruru
But I wouldn't mind it for breakfast.
she hasn't had breakfast yet...
Brunch, maybe.
yikes, there's 60 s words in here!
60's words?
60 ess words
Swords
oh.. tell me about it...
I mean S words
I have 39 of them only
sounds tedious
Im not liking the fact that the 2nd bottom row is symettrical, its blocking my creative thinking process... :P
:-)
It's a palindrome
Indeed it is, unfortunately, tonot is not a word
:-(
one a to go though
Now that you pointed it out, it's bothering me too.
Tonot - noun 1. A small animal resembling a cross between a tortoise and a fish Tonot - verb 1. To act in the manner of a tortoise and/or fish
There, I have defined it, its now a word
YAY!
okay now.. 14 s's
Go Ruru Go!
I thought it was from Shakespeare .. "Tonot or not tonot ..."
Hi tor
hello tor dear!
Heyas kids ..
Hi trif

Hiya, peeps. Anyone have a clue for the jo7?

Hi everyone
Yes. Enough of this crap.
I feel like an ass
if it helps, we are now being shown how they make duct tape....off you go....
not really :-)
hi all
truly lol!!!
Hi Sea. they've all got potty mouths today.
Oooh. Duct tape. I hope no real ducks are being used.
Hi Boo
am used to that hego lol
you could be quackers about seeing it Tri
No, these are real potties.
eide not watch it if I were you
Jen, is that gorgeous, ferocious creature on your icon a cat?
I actually love this show. I used to love when mr. rogers showed the magic mirror movies of things being made in factories, and I love seeing how stuff is made now. I am such a geek
we all are trif
at least my kids think so
yup
16 degrees and snowing here today, daughters fiance (state cop) is doing polar bear plunge in the chesapeake bay today for special olympics...BRRR
stopping in to say a quick hi - J123 we're in the grid today!!
amazing how many things are made in a giant fashion, like a 65 foot roll across, and then cut up into smaller units. I just find it fascicnating
oh i so don't get that polar bear thing
me neither
Trif we watch that show too - they could use better music, tho, don't you think?
I love those shows, too, Trif. I remember they used to show us stuff like that on "movie day" in grade school.
me either, but they do it every year
I swam in Lake Winnapasaukee in New Hampshire once when I was a teen, as a dare. the next day it snowed. not a fan of the chilly swims
Bet you froze your mukluks off.
I had to rescue my dog out of a frozen lake in Oregon
JBV, I dont' mind the music as much as I mind the new narrator. the canadian guy was way better
hey my names pluralled here hehe
Very heroic, ruru.
I have skipped the polar bear thing since
they do it for a good cause
couldn't you just write a check?
that's for both of us J123!
lololol
lol yes jbv
you could, but they get sponsors and raise a lot of money
is that your first name too, jbv? I didn't know that
do they provide donuts?
yes, how do you do to all who now know my first name :)
oh, i am sure the do lol
Bet it was a bit nippy ..
well, I am ElizaBeth, so now we are formally introduced
i'm off for my big state debut - wish me luck (break a leg, etc.) - My Chinese class is performing a skit on stage! (i must be crazy)
Torgone, if you think I do not know what you REALLY wanted to write there, you are wrong. I am on to you!!!
moms name was elizabeth trif
*stage
good luck, jbv!
go get em jbv
what does the trifioso mean
Break a reg, JBV!
i'll read you the reviews later
it's the first parts of the names of my kids
good luck JBV
oh. cute
I use it for a lot of stuff on line - I wanted a generic and genderless tag
hi all
Hi jmc
hi jmc
hey there jmc! lovely to see you today!
This is quite possibly the friendliest chat room on the internet!
it certainly is.. and entertaining a lot of the time too
oh absolutely mully!
yes, it is mully
mully, it is flat out the BEST chat room on the planet - no problem could not be solved by this constituency
especially when we get Judi going
True, Mully. Take a number. NEXT!
hey i thought we "wiped" the slate ruru
not going to fall back into that chat..lol
i just wanted you all to know i am a saint
oh..I didn't know
saint of what?
did you hear back from the vatican, then? I know you were anxious to get your results, jmc
hmm hadn't thought of that ru
do tell
saint jmc...interesting
i took my southern self and picked up my MIL who was screaming at me and drove in the snow to mail a package for my son that HAD to be mailed today
oh.. MIL... you are a saint
ugh. definitely a saint.
and then I took her to the drug store to pick up vitamins!
i hate driving in snow!
screaming MIL...i bow to you
....and I assume resisted the temptation to replace the vitamins with ex-laz?
lax, even
there are always these idiots in 4W drive who think that means they can drive like it is not snowing
Why was she screaming at you?
Clue for the an7, please?
she was screaming because she was nervous and afraid I would cancel because of the snow
Jeez. Buy that woman a Xanax, jmc.
an + two mr. hawthornes
she is really terrible about expressing her emotions inappropriately
Xanax and vitamin C is what she needs
i would have needed trifs duct tape...and/or a tissue
I'm not familiar with Mr. Hawthorne.
Nathaniel Hawthorne
Oh. Thanks, ruru.
the hawthorne who was a writer, not nigel, the actor
that doesn't seem to work for the an7 i must be missing something
or, what ruru wrote
a plural letter jm
Vowels vanquished. 22 left. sigh.
that is only 6 letters
go judi go
maybe you could introduce your MIL to John Edwards jm?
judi, that is an interesting way to approach the grid - do you always do vowels first?
that'll keep her busy
why would i do that ru?
double the first letter of mr. H's name, jmc
No, trif. But the vowels usually give me the most trouble, so it's always a relief to finish them.
I did that trif and I get 6 letters
did you remember the vowel at the end, before the plural?
use a double consonant jm
Jmc - film your MIL while she's screaming, then post it on YouTube. I'm sure there's lots of other MIL rants on there.
If I had a nickel for everyone of my MIL's rants...well. I would be retired
I actually like her most of the time
its jsut when she gets upset that i want to strangle her to death and be done with it
my MIL is a drama queen
(there goes the sainthood)
an+Hawthorne (3 letters)+pl?
Coffee needs a warm up. Laundry needs a-washin. BBL.
jo7?
me too .. have to run.. good luck everyone.
rats i think you are right ru -- i guess i can forget keeping the phone line open incase the vatican calls
did you see my clue before, jmc? an + four hawthorne letters then plural
bye ruru
had a comical drama this week
ooooo whew!

yes sea?
bye ru

Hi cybernan! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
Babble is blocked where I work, unable to do it there
You managed to get online to this website and know how to type SeaSpray, so your better than the vast majority of people I speak to
what do you have to do to get your name in the grid? you know who I mean....lol
i watch a cartoon in which the two regular characters were a detective and he's helper (the detective was tall and thin and the helper was short and round) and the helper was always singing "he go to catch the bad guys; they're going to be a sorry bunch of sad gusy"
nm -- found it
funniest part was that my phonerings and it's cable company, survey or something
*giggle*ruby
*!* ta da *!*
she asked how service was and i said well i don't knonw cause cable is out lol

anyone want clues before I leave?
is that on 5 a common word? i don't see it
oops joanne thats not good
jo8?
i haven't found it either harp
jo7 ruby
I dont find the patience, I do it for the money, that stops me shouting at people
on + *** a place at the table for me
it's me pluralled
yes, harp -- means "the beginning"
The on5/10 of puberty is often indicated by acne and attitude.
haz!!
mully believe it or not patience comes from age for most of us
good clue haz
too easy, nan, duh for me
Hello!
ty haz!
hi haz
hello! to you, haz

You're welcome - just passing through and thought I'd say hello.
i was sooo impatient when i was 21

*giggle*
he's older than nancyboy
my shoes are older!
I dont quite know how to take that...
how old is nancyboy?

Just smile and nod, Mully.
18 or 19 i forget
oh my, my dog will be 14 in june, i feel very old
take it in a teasing manner mully
yes, must teasing Mully, nice to have met you
oops, meant just
Just out of interest, which biscuits do you prefer, Mully?
Indeed seaspray! I prefer either chocolate digestives or bourbon creams :D
biscuits sound good right about now
I'm with you on the chocolate digestives. McVities, I take it?
mmmm bourbon creams sound devine
Oh yes! Oh and chocolate hobnobs
they do don't they?
digestives always sound slightly nasty to me
divine!
Digestives are wonderful.
salivating, no sweets in this house
is a digestive sweet?
Poor ruby, that can't be right.
always sweets in this house lol
Bourbon creams taste nothing like bourbon and have no alcholic content, which isnt so good.
Hi everyone... I used to be addicted to those dark chocolate digestives, but for some reason they are insanely expensive now. :-(
bummer i will have to make my own bourbon creams then with bourbon
i make bourbon balls every christmas and you can taste the bourbon
I think that tannest describes the woman with the deepest tan, and tonnest describes the woman with the most weight. This puzzle, however, refuses to acknowledge my wisdom!
hi K
if this keeps up, I'll have to make crepes for a snack
Hi K.Elisabet! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Hello lawyer-1! How are you? Welcome to the chat log
Afternoon all. My neice & nephew are watching Shrek and I am going to try today's puzzle. wish me luck.
and why are you talking about fat women instead of men lawyer?
what a sexist pig!
ty, min
hi jmb
like petite and peton
;-)
Bourbon balls too - that was a family tradition for Christmas when I was a kid. Can't believe my parents let us have any!
jmc, I just naturally prefer to talk about women
yes, jmc!
Hi jmbdobie2!How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
theoretically the alcohol dissipates K
K, they probably wanted you to go to sleep
crazy this am - watching my sister's 4 & 5 yr old
You're probably right!
that's what I tell people when I set the crepes on fire, but I don't really believe it!
speaking of dissipating, I made beer bread last week
with the crepes the alcohol is burned off ruby
how was is sea?
so mully are you at work right now?
wonderful
Never heard of beer bread. So does it taste like beer
hands jmb a cup of tea and a biscuit
I am indeed at work right now, getting paid to babble it up is great!
not really, tastes kind of buttery
i find that adds to the experience for me too
ty jmc
Do many people have PC problems on a Saturday evening?
min, I thought that icon looked familiar! Happy birthday phil! I remember the obscure group
You would be surprised. I worked christmas day too, I was expecting a day of nothing at triple time but the amount of people that called was incredible
so mully is your age on your profile current or from when you signed up in 2006
That is my correct age, I signed up in high school, my chemistry teacher got me hooked on this game
i would expect christmas to be busy with all those new presents of computers
Did any of you ever play acrobabble?
no sea
Most of the calls we got were existing PC issues, we rarely deal with new setups
Acrobabble sounds scary. Not done on a trapeze, I hope?
it sounds dangerous -- broken limbs etc
Nope! I have never heard of acrobabble b-4 SeaSpray
okay I need help with the e in the middle of the bottom line for nbt
no haz, originally started as acrophobia
who is you chem teacher? do they still babble?
fun game, but shut down again
ef4 comes from there.
seems like it would be hard on the computer on a trampoline
I dont know if he still does, I cant remember his username unfortunately :(
An eo 4/4 word is e plus the opposite of offs jmcnrick
jmc, it's that weird Babblet, ef4/7
oh ty une i should have seen that *smack*
or the ef 4/7 word is ef plus Author ** Elliott jmcnrick
"there's something in the air tonight...." fabulous song! Happy B'day Phil
it is making sentences out of acronyms
ty min

Hiya Mully. Dont think our paths have ever crossed on babble. Nice to meet you.
why is "Sensei " not a word?
Soodle retreats to corner, after murdering chog.......
its not dead Soodle
Thanks DR.
I guess because it is not in common enough usage DR
how are you tpday?
* today
I guess Lynxxx.
I was surprised because kata and dojo are words but not sensei
Dr, if you are talking to me, I am the finest, thank you.
maybe because it is a title?
good to hear Soodle
its all very hit and miss with the foreign words
BBL need to water garden etc
bye Lynxxx
Wow. Water the garden. My garden has been submerged in ice, snow, frost and rain since November. Roll on Summer!
oh my Soodle!
Is that normal?
* showing my stupidity
Well, it has been a particularly hard winter, DR. But, today, I was delighted to see daffodils peeking their welcome green shoots through the earth. Spring is on its way, thanks be to goodness.
YEA for Spring.. Our apple tree has sprouted a few flowers also.
Isn't Mother Nature fantastic? After all the doom, gloom and hardship, new growth is coming.
what is nbt??
no blank tiles
Joanne. NBT is no blank tiles
yes Soodle, Mother Nature is amazing
brb - laundry
humm still don't no what that means
it means that you have a word from every tile that has words
ohh ok
glad to help -
i never wanted to ask
:) - ok now laundry- brb
makes these puzzles more interesting
See the table directly underneath the grid? In todays grid, look at the table. The first one is N 0/3. If you get one word beginning with that N, you will register 1/3 (or one of three). If you manage to do the same with all the tiles in the table, its No blank tiles.
mine is 3/3
Oh that sounded horribly complicated, even to me. I'm sorry. I will try to explain it better if your are totally confused.
no soodle i'm done
Well, then, you have found all three of the words starting with N from that tile.
I am so glad I am not a teacher - I would be useless.
yes yes and yes for all

just never understood the nbt
Sorry - just been away refereeing a row between my teenagers. Oh my.

Hey all, anything exciting happen while I was away?
hi mully
mully's back too.
Sure am, had to help a 90 year old woman connect her PC wirelessly.
Hence my 90 minute abscence
ah, a good samaritan! :)
Well its my job so I dont know if that counts :P
but it's saturday
Its Monday monday morning here in scotland...
No it's not.
* blink * have I lost that much time because you can't possibly be that far ahead of the US West Coast!
Were not :P
Were not :P
I work on a Saturday
gotcha
Our leg is being pulled Pini
;)
However the time here is 21:10, so just why that old lady wanted her PC connected so urgently is beyond me
no kidding...she should be in bed sleeping!
Ah but she was from Glasgow, knowning Glaswegian old people, she should have been out partying
oh my!
Little old ladies on the British Isles are all tucked up in their beds. (well, maybe not Glaswegeians)
Their all awake phoning me for their late night technical support needs
maybe their internal clocks are off and the sleep during the day so they can stay up all night ;)
Aaarrggghhh. Beware of the little old ladies...........
are you playing pirate again, Soodle?
Of course the Irish are well known for their proud Pirate heritage.
Hangs head in shame. ues.
lol
Excuse me, while I do a bit of raping and pillaging...bbs
raping???
All part of the pirate way
she's a pirate
Oh Min - I was only playing the pirate. Ablsolutely no offence intended
Thought it was a typo or something. Wasn't offended
Of course! Rapping Pirates!
Way more cool!
of course!
YES
have to evolve to the "now-a-days"!
"...time keeps on tickin' tickin' tickin' into the future..."
I need the en5, i'm getting dizzy.
Way more easy to make money and get with the ladies if your a rapper. Pirating is now only confined to people who refuse to pay for music, movies and software
pls
en & past tense of consumed

ty Min

I's Isolated! 3 left
Hi, back
12 o'clock
Do you still need the sa6/18 words to be clued? There are three sa6/18 words. One is the most sa4/4 word
Hello lynxxx! How are you? Welcome back to the grid!
hi red and Min
hello ...
and lynxxx
Another sa 6/18 word is sa 4/4 plus two more vowels
Hello Nef! How are you? I just returned after a break
hi Nef, Wild
fly
Hi wildcat17!How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
r23, change for a $5
Hi again
hi DR
Hi Lynxxx
what do u mean
I love your icon
The last sa 6/18 is sa plus hook letter plus the first 3 letters of a government worker; not a governor.
it's a clue for a word in the grid, r23
ok. cant get it
ty Min
im stupid
Pl of the first number, r23
we think oddly here r23
Hi Nef
hi dr , lynxx , min and whoever i missed
yw
Hi Andree!
still cant
My hubby stayed up until 2:45 am to watch the womens Open match
He is nuts!
does Hugo swim in the pool Andree?
Hello Andree! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
count; ****, twos, threes,...
thank u so much!!! i have a brain problem
he loves the pool especially when the kids are in it, we head him towards the steps and he can get himself out now but is still a danger as if i put him in at the other end away from the steps he just swims at the edge and can't get out so would drown once he tired
Hi Min, still can't get the end of the sa6,18 you clued, maybe it's a nationality thing (I'm a Brit!)
r23, it works better if you can check out the Friends of Babble section. One site that many use is Lickety's Babble clues (it gives a list with the first 2 letters and the word counts); but the one I told you about (AngelSongs Babble Page) is my favorite for newbies.
Which sa 6/18 do you need. There are three of them
fun!
Hi all. Back for my final 28. How is everyone?
sa6, s + criminal fire setting (spelled wrong)
last sa6.18 sounds like the deliberate fire lighting word, change the last vowel
sa 6/18 word is a large sandstone boulder cathsains.
hi Jac! all good
Hi Jac
r23, do you remember my clue earlier for that word? Sa** (the terrible respiratory flu outbreak several years ago) and the **dining of a story (meaning finish)
I only have one , you referred to it as the last Min...
Put definition in reverse dictionary&it's #1 cathsains
Cathsains - think of a make of malt vinegar and change the final vowel for another one.
hi Jac. How are you tonight?
wow- just monkeyed the ar8 and 9
Ohhh, that flu! I was going through swine, avian etc! Thanks for the Brit clue Jac!
I'm good Nef, thanks.
y/w cathsains.
Here is that link to reverse dictionary definition and word cathsains: http://www.onelook.com/?w=*&loc=revfp2 &clue=large+sandstone+boulder
still need help
Never mind! Jacula got you the word. Glad you got it
36 left here, I may have to go to the listy list.
What word do you need help with r23, sa 6/18 word?
WB Red
I am down to 47 and have listed
Hey DR.
no i didnt get either nef
I listed after I found 95 words today. The list help alot
I've been trying to get more and more listless now...
hi Red
me too.. You realize that you have actualy learned new words I think
back to find a few more...
wb Pini
Thanks all for the boulder refs. what's really funny is they're really common on Salisbury Plain which is about 40mins from me oh well, it's all in the name of education :D
i only found 29 words
If I get more&more listless, I get more&more clueless
red - the longer you play this game, the easier going listless gets - with some exceptions.
go r23! Good for you
Or new babblets. If I ever have use of the word etui, I shall faint!
: )
Hi all...back super early this evening!
r23, try the 2 sites I suggested to help explain things easier. They also help with solving the puzzle. When we talk about going to the list, we are going to use Lickety's List ourselves
Hello Pinikula! How are you? Welcome back to the grid
hi NB!
hi NB
what were they. type exactly (with www........
Hi Pini and Nancy.
hi NB
Hello Nancy
Can someone pls tell me the total points
hi NB. You are here at a different time
I am already clueless enough as it is.I do not need to get more clueless! LOL!
R 23, there is a link at the bottom of the page. No need to type.
hi pini
Evening ladies ;)
Hello Nancy Boy!How are you? Welcome to the puzzle
did you see redturtlehead's post r23?
Total points for today's puzzle is 1817 lynxxx.
I am indeed Nef...I spent all day with my little sister, that's why :) :) :) she managed to come visit!
yes. i cant understand how it works
TY Min
The links are down below the tile stats grid (right below the puzzle grid
r23 are you very familiar with computers?
i know. i cant undersand the clues
i am .
Good for you, Nancy! How old is she? That must be a big step for you! :-)
That's great NancyBoy. Any softening by your Dad?
im a newbee to babble
well, if you can get to Licketys list, the clues are very self explanatory, I am not sure I can help anymore than that.
(example: no4/4 ... "no" are the first 2 letters of a 4 letter word worth 4 points)
thanks
r23...if you right click on any of the links listed under Friends of Babble and open them in a new window, you'll find lots of helpful hints on how to play ;)
Thanks, Nef and Lynx :) no softening on my dad's front - I try to visit her every week but she had to lie and say she was staying with a friend to get down here :/ I miss her so much, I feel like I hugged her for an hour...
r23 - click on the Help tab above this chatlog. It explains how the scoring works.
And I can not find the un-cooperative 36 words.
((((NB))))
Early days yet NB
Nancy, just keep being true to you, and whoknows, someday....glad you got to see your sister.
thats so sad NB, my sons adore their sister and are very protective
How old is your sister, NB?
I guess you will be able to be a bigger part of her life when she is older
Thanks, everyone :) I found myself tearing up like a ninny when her train left though!
She's fourteen, Nef :) five years younger than me...probably a pretty good age gap. Siblings that are too close in age seem to fight more!
Not a Ninny...it's great to care about comeone.
bye peops
my brother is 5 yrs younger and we are pretty close
Has your Mum been and gone Red?
bbl
Bye r23
my other brother is 18 months older and we are good now but used to fight growing up
Oh, Nancy! I worry about what your father might say if he finds out that she was gone that long and with you! Does she have to worry about that?
Come back soon, r23, and try again.
See DR...it's a good gap ;)
bye r23
exactly!
My Mom is gone Lynnxx thanks. She had a pretty good time I think.
I hope so Red
Bye R23, sorry I was not much more help.
I worried too, Nef! That's why I always go to visit her...she wanted to see my flat though. She sent me a text when she got home...all seems to be good, luckily. Can't do it again for a while though
thanks for the concern :)
Good, it must have been fun having her there. And no housework for a month now Red!
Whew! I'm glad she got home without causing a fight with your father!
i hope she guards her phone well NB, thats the easiest way these days to find out what someone is up to
Oh unfortunately, I have someone else coming for an entire Month on Saturday...so more housework, and trying to ferry him here and there. I am a rather private person, so not looking forward to that.
house guests are like fish after 3 days they begin to smell!!!
PLus, I am still getting the new job together!
red, he's coming for a month? YIKES!!!
I was going to ask about the new job!!!
I totally agree with that idea, Andree!
Oh... a month's a long time.
He's coming from South Africa, so economically, it makes sense, but, it's jsut a bad time.
I guess it was to awkward to say no Red. Hope he can entertain himself a bit though
another new job Red?!
Oh I thought of that, Andree - I gave her my old mobile phone! She did get busted for phoning me at first. Sooo horrible. We have our private sibling line now though :)
I can't take any vacation and he wants to do things. He is going to have to, and there will be a week or so that he goes to Miami. Or rather I take him to Miami...
she's a tough cookie though...
Red, I couldn't take that!
ok, I'm stuck on the an4 after alcoholics ****ymous
I want to see him, want to do all these things (Going to my first Space shuttle launch ever, usually I just watch it fly over the house)
nudge plz?
Is he 'available' - perhaps you can do some quick matchmaking and get him off your hands
I only wish he would rent a car, so he can do whatever.
Pini - sounds like answer
He is available, I may even be interested in his availability, but, I still need to go to work and concnentrate on work!!!
Nancy - I don't think I've been around for the full story but am assuming I 'know' why your Dad disowned you. If it's for the reason I suspect, it's his loss. Glad your sister is more tolerant. Maybe your Dad will come round in the end?
Also, I LOVE that Neil Young track in your bio.
(you nailed it, jac!) ;)
Thank you, Jac :) I'm gonna be bold and say you probably know. I don't keep it SUCH a big secret...;)
looking lynxxx
ooooh, got it!
(rather "slang")
Nancy - there's no reason it should be a secret or any 'big deal'.
1st ar6?
Ar**** Hall
ar***iO Hall
Oops too slow
Who I actually saw on TV the other night. I had never heard of him before Babble
io6 help please?
It's my humble opinion that people "transition" to things at different paces; the older the individual, the more likely a slow transition...eh?
NB glad you sorted out the phone thing, i have a 14 year old grandaughter and there have been a couple of occasions when she has had to hand her phone over to her mum
thx :)
Blimey! 8 words to go and I only just noticed the Babble volcano et4. *sighs*
A's done! :)
io & Zero Zilch
that's what I think, Jac...though one never can be sure on the internet. That's why I never meet up with people I only know online. As I hear, any facade of a nice person can turn out to be a raging homophobe and his baseball-bat weilding buddies...it's a dangerous job ;)
thx for the io lynxxx
ty Lynxxx
I'm sure you'd be safe with the likes of us, NB!!!
except for Babblers of course NB
we had someone here who would meet guys at gay bars and then go home with them, drug them and rob them
Nancy - I can imagine. Sad that in these so-called enlightened times that tolerance still isn't a 'given'.
it was pretty awful!
i have met up with granny rose and mrp and came away unscathed
LOL Andree
My Parents Met jmcnrick.
Really DR?!!
Yes Lynxxx - really
I haven't met up with any Babblers yet, but have talked quite often to Haz and Hydra on the 'phone.
but i can understand NB
I've only met 2 so far: stid and stidg ;)
I have not met any babblers yet, except for by extension when jmc went to an event that my Dad was at...
LOL Andree!
i think haz, fmitch and ata are meeting up again soon
Through the years, I've met several "little internet friends" from a different site and they have always been as nice as they are online. I've never met any Babblers, however; but since I've been here this long (>4 years), I can't imagine any of the ones I know as "friends" here would be anything but friends IRL
I also correspond a couple of times a year by snail mail with other Babblers. No4 of them has yet battered my door down with an axe.
are there any babblers in las Vegas?
* hear hear * Nef!
there is a man I run races with whom I met over the internet.
I also met his wife...
Not sure, but that'd be a great place for a babble meet-n-greet!
don't look at me....boring old Minnesota!
I am going there for work June 9-11
it's great to hear success stories though :) re-asserts a little faith in humanity!
where....Minnesota?
DR...make the announcement...June is a great time for vacation (especially if you're in "school")
no sorry BookGirl- Vegas
I met my partner on a site very like this on the internet. (i.e. not a dating site) We've been together nearly 7 years now.
Vegas is better than Minnesota.
<-- have met online friends outside of babble and 2 became long-time friends (over 12 years now)
I will do that Pini- maybe someone else is going. It is a big Health insurance symposium
BookGirl, *I* live in MN!!!
sorry minnesotans.
oh, nice score, jac!
Veeery nice Jac
on 5/10 plz
Pini - ditto your post about meeting internet friends fromother sites, but my time span is about 9 years.
red, there is no where as beautiful as Minnesota in the summertime
on5 on and what jelly does....or the start of something
nef, you're kiddin.....have lived here my whole life, and am wondering why? Call it a midlife crisis....
ty lynxxx
I think I disagree. but then again, the most most beutiful place I know is West Africa, in the country, not the cities. I am a plant thing...
Back to find my last 8 words
red - they do say the Africa gets under your skin.
they're ALL s words... argh!
hi LilM!!
My most favorite place to date is Europe's Black Forest area (a little bit of Germany, France, Switzerland, and Italy)
hi lil
Hi monkey. 8 to find here, also.
lil*!!!!
11 left here
What part of MN are you in, BookGirl? I moved south from NW MN (50 miles east of ND and 60 miles So of Cananda) to the Twin Cities nearly 40 years ago. I love the warmer climate here! :-)
6 x s and 2 x t.
Nice pinik. I also enjoy Paris in the spring...
and of course Florida is really pretty nifty.
isnt that a song?
winter in MN is what is killing me....why, oh why do I want to be cold most of the time....I am in the St. Cloud area of MN...
Pini !!!!
Red - that's a song, isn't it? 'I love Paris in the springtime.'.
I think London's a beautiful place. 'Course, that's because I live here and am happy here!
great minds Jac
Snap DR! :-)
the PNW is the closest stateside that I can get to the Black Forest area
I guess its a song. Nancy I have never been to London, so I am unqualified!
Actually, the world we live on is a beautiful place.
I passed through London when I was 6 months old...does that count (even if I don't have any memories of it?)
Pini - No. LOL
Book, St. Cloud gets a lot more of the wind chill than the Twin Cities. And you have to admit: the gardens along the Mississippi in the summer in St. Cloud (I forgot the name of them) are so magnificent!
well, shoot...guess I'll have to visit again sometime, eh, NB?
It's pretty in an English way, Red. Kind of glitzy but grimy underneath. Lots of parts of it still look very Victorian...you can still imagine Jack the Ripper stalking the alleyways!
LOL Jac!
NB, *THAT* doesn't sound very "pretty!"
I am sure I would enjoy that.
all except the Jack the Ripper part.
The walls in London whisper, Nef ;)
(sorry, I was referring to the Jack the Ripper part too)
Nancy - I know what you mean.
Bye all!
bye lynxxx
History in Britain still whispers quite loudly.
ciao lynxxx
29 left.... this is getting to be tedious.
29 here, too
have you listed, red?
28 here
That's exactly it, Jac. You can walk the back streets of London and picture all the people who have been there before you, that's what I mean...
I just did, its the list that makes it sooo tedious, look at lickety, find word...look at lickety, find...
FIREWORKS!!!!
who wants to race???
* gasp * race?
wtg lil*!!!
WOOHOO Monkey
not me
I do love history; and I will admit that the history here is not that long....
There might be a car park or a busy traffic roundabout where The Ripper once stalked, but you can feel him in your bones and it still chills your blood.
woo hoooo
YAY, lil*!!!! WTG!!!!!
guess I can not race anyone, Monkey won!!!!!
If I were to even consider racing, I'd probably still trip!
what did i win?
anyone need a clue?
a lot of "attaboys" lil*
Prize: the privilege to clue the rest of us home?
the fireworks display.
2nd sa6 please
jo7? (fish?)
sounds like the title of your karate teacher, DR
Well done red. 5 to go here.

Nancy - sorry! LOL *whispers* 'They never caught him, you know.'
thx for jo7 ;)
the picture you're painting, NB, isn't getting much better with those little side notes! LOL
oh oh I am not done, I have 24 left, I was telling Monkey she won the FW display, oops, I can see how that could be misinterepreted.
any more clues needed?
5 to go...
although lucky Jack the Ripper was lucky enough to enjoy the lack of a) tourists in the dead of night, and b) a blinking neon light outside his window :D
26 more for me, lil* ;)
we live on the baaaad side of Soho ;)
nancy boy said a worrrrrrrrrrrrrd
off you go, nancy boy to the PB
LOL, Nancy. I wonder if history would be different had that been the case? There were no CCTV cameras then, either.
and it wasn't even a word I had!
hehe
LOL, re the word thing. Oh dear!
sa 5, 10 after the karate guy?? Please!
sa + a red flower you give at Valentines day
Ty moneky I should have know that one...
and the 6 after that?

bingo...finally got it!
the criminal word for setting a fire, i should say
thx! ;)
actually, I wouldn't even mind the ne4 sign, but it says a vaguely rude word in bright red letters. Thank god for blackout curtains!
sa 6/18 2nd one plz
vague is better than explicit NB.
67 - that's the one that sounds like martial arts master
ty Pini
yw ;)
woot woot, broke 20 ;)
what I tell myself, Red ;) but for all the sleaze, there is lots of history here. Shuttle back a few years and I could drop in on Karl Marx. Or Mozart.
night everyone... I'm going to watch a DVD now. *poof*
why would there be a vaguely rude word done in a neon sign? That sounds weird
night lil* :)
Rather than do that, though...I think I'll go to bed :)
Go Pinik!!!!!
17 here.

have all of those
Tarzan's mate (and pl)
r23, it's somewhat quiet now...can we help with anything? explanations? clues? etc?
thnx
clues please
how about if I give you a clue for fe4/7 as a definition? fe** is a marshy lowland region in E England,
have it
r23, we can offer clues, but would probably be more helpful if you told us what letter you might be looking for...and if you're using Lickety's List as an aide, the first 2 letters and the numbers following it (i.e., no4/4)
(use the reverse dictionary to find what it is) here is one to try: http://www.onelook.com/reverse-diction ary.shtml
ae4,4
ae + not off
ae4/4 is a period of time

pl= plural, pt= past tense
Pini clued the letters, I gave a vague def. of the word.

Hi everyone :D

hi peach, muse, and dan2
OH! I finally hit half way! Now I "allow" myself to use Lickety's list r23! I'll copy and paste my words I've already found into Lickety's list, then look for the words I haven't found yet.
oh, Nef!!! I didn't realize you needed clues...ask away!!!

yep, I iced it for ten minutes, but since it was by the eye, figured that was as much as I should do.
Thanks much Min.
yw
hi mymuse
you can ice it for 10-15 minutes at a time, then again the next hour.
actually, I meant you can ice it every hour for 10-15 minutes at a time for up to 48 hours.
yes, thanks nef. that was close to my plan, though I don't intend to wake up to put more ice on! LOL
brrrrr
how are you doing anyway nef? back up to normal now?
LOL! I don't blame you! I wouldn't do it more than a few hours like that myself unless I've been taking aspirin or any drug such as Ibuprofen because they interfere with the clotting factors of the blood.
jmc, I forgot to RSVP for that smooze session on sunday, sorry... just as well though, I have a lot of homework this weekend
I don't take anti-inflammatories much anymore nef.
I'm better than what I considered normal before surgery, stid! I have energy again! :-D

Hello pippingeek! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
ok only 233 word now whooooooohoooooooooo
the grid gods hate me
maybe because you disparage them all the time
they are getting their revenge
and how do I do that... I can't come up with half the words most of the time... no I haven't done anything to them
they are very sensitive gods -- their feelings are easily hurt
I se5/10 it's time for a story of clues. Plus I have an 4/4 in my pants waiting for flip since it will not be an 5/10 any time so4/4. So I ar5/10 yesterday morning with the intention of finishing puzzle since it was so small. At no 4/4 I put my no 4/4 to the grid & started babbling during lunch. Then last night I was ne 4/4 to the finish line when Babble stopped working. So FWs for me was no4/4. I was so annoyed and thought "oh ra 4/4 how insa4/4 is this?!" I do not have to 4/4 of clues for you today but I hope everyone took no 4/4 of my clues. Now I am getting out of this se 4/4 and going on 4/4 raiding the fridge. I will be back so 4/4.
this actually looks like a good interesting friendly grid, but i just got home from work and have to be back at 7am, so i don't see me having time to finish, and i hate to start a grid if i won't finish it. maybe tomorrow...
ty min
yw
pip, if you take Min's story, you'll get a lot of the words!
Thanks Min. I love your stories. (I've been buried in the grid with chat off so I can finish)
My story isn't too helpful today since it is full of 4/4 words which probably most already have, but oh well.
i still need a lot of 4 words so ty
I still need 12 4 letter words and 16 5 letter words and 8 6 letter words
So your story IS helpful, Min
Was a hard grid to create a story from so thank you!

ro5 = kanga*** + from **a to shining **a
Gosh, jmc...I don't remember how much of a back story I gave; Nef might have a better idea...
Hi GeeGeeW! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid

* hands baton to flosey for a bit *
(oh, and HI Flo!)
hi Pini
Hi flosey!
hi Nef
just noticed a typo in my icon story, brb
Gee, I just enjoy her short stories. I never seem to be able to come up with
fixed it,
Great icon pic, flosey!
thanks, he sent me that pic when he was introducing himself to us
we are so blessed to have this sweet guy in our lives, he and daughter are so beautifully matched
he looks like a real cutie too!
yup, and 7 mo. old grandson looks just like him
Awww! Is this your first? (My first grandchiild is going to be 9 months old on Tuesday!)
ah, that's when he turns 7 mo.
he's our second, have one in Toronto will be 12 Feb. 4th
mine will be 6 mos
12 yrs
yes, I remember Pini, born very shortly after William
* smile *
Wow! We're a whole bunch of gaga grammas here right now! :-D
yup, isn't it fun
I was older having my children, and they're following suit!
I'm loving it. Although I would love to see him everyday (and I only get to see him about once a week)
hey Nef, that's a lot better than I have
they were here Thanksgiving and Christmas
and I was with her for 7 weeks when he was born
they're in North Van, takes a while to get there, ferry and bus - float plane is fast but expensive
Me too, flosey. I had my kids after I was 31; my son was 30 when he had his son. Dtr is 27 and not interested in having babies yet.
Hi flosey! How are you doing? I missed your entrance.
I too was 31 having first of 4
great thanks Min, and you?
hello friends. ((hugs nef and flosey)) I am so glad I am too young to be a grandmother... *stern mama look at own offspring*
hi stid and hugs back
I have a "lunch date" with a classmate on Monday! *bounce bounce* we are going to work on a project together!
I'm well. Was going to stay up for flip, but don't think I will make it.I am off to find a new icon and then bed

sounds fun stid
Hi stidmama! How are you Welcome back to the grid!
((Min)) sweet dreams, and thanks for the help earlier!
Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow
goodnight Min, sweet dreams
goodnight Min! see you later!
did you finish the grid Stid?
(I need to stop chatting if I'm to finish this grid. I like to chat and am getting tired.)
need any clues Nef?
several words ending in consumed
yes flosey, finished the grid a few hours ago
not yet, flosey. I'm being a stubborn dolt tonight. ;-)
good for you, you so seldom have time to these days
hm, isn't that redundant, nef? *innocent mama look*
did you get your house dried out okay flosey? is mr flo getting ready to plant spring greens yet?
:-P stid. Of COURSE it's redundant; that's what *I* am too! ;-)
just one small corner still damp, blower is pointing directly at it now
and the dehumidifier is still on
rofl
oh-oh. What happened flosey?
I only just learned that stidkid #1 had a small leak in his window, will need to replace the sill this summer when it's dry outside
fortunately, it seems to have been more from condensation than from another roof leak.
we had a bit of a flood (following a visit from the plumber) about 1" water in storage room and hall - was going across into carpeted room when we discovered it
that's good news (I think)
was almost midnight ! called plumber and they were here within 15 minutes
gee whiz, flosey -- I didn't know how it had happened, glad they got there fast!
yes, if hubby hadn't gone downstairs (after bridge) just to check tv for scores, we wouldn't have found it until next morning
Ewww, flosey! What a mess! We've had a problem with tree roots invading the sewer pipe here, have had several back-ups through the years. I no longer have a carpeted basement in that area because of that
and the carpet guy came right after I called him at 8: next morning - fortunately, he's on next farm
that's good!
our house is built into the hill so downstairs is open one side and front
I found the cutest little water alarm that has been worth it's weight in gold for us. It's called a "Leak Frog"
was talking to carpet fella earlier today, he had a very serious call - sewer back-up - all carpets have to be replaced and damage to walls
wow Nef, that sounds interesting
http://www.ideativeinc.com/leakfrog.cf m
thanks Nef, have taken that down, will look into it
I've had mine for about 3 or 4 years. as so** as the water starts backing up (I have it right next to the floor drain), the alarm sounds
could be a good gift to our sons who are in homes with basements
both daughters are in condos, upstairs
hello gang!
And I think it cost something like $4.00 when I bought it
GREAT icon, flosey!
hi jilli!
thanks jilli
have to leave for a bit, bblater
hmf -- I arrive, flosey leaves *sniffing under arms*
finished, finally yay see you all later
YAY GG!!!
YAY, GeeGee!!! WTG!!!!
bye GeeGee

Just now. Today is Telly's birthday.

its okay. I have too many to finish.
oh, sorry, grammaguM
are you going to stay for flip?
Yes.
good
where are you ggum?
Alaska
wow, do you see the northern lights?
Yes. Sometimes they swirl right over my house.
some day, before I am too old, I'd love to take the cruise up the coast and see your great State
what a thrill that would be
I love Alaska.
especially in the summer, blueberry picking
one of my old school chums was stationed there before she was married - she was a SA captain, had a church there
love blueberries, just made a cobbler yesterday
we freeze a lot of veg. and fruit
In the interior or along the coast? The blueberries here in the Interior are the best.
I've never picked them myself, we buy them from a farm in Saanich
can't remember where Kay was stationed, I use to write to her when I was living in Ontario
The bluerries from Canada are good too. I buy them when I run out of the wild blueberries.
Hi -- I'm back! Quebec blueberries are great - small, with lots of flavour.
they're the only ones I know. They grew wild up in the Muskoka area of Ontario
gramma, when you say "from Canada" what do you mean? Canada is a big place.
and hi, gramma!
oh Jilli, what a beautiful flower, but I don't know it either
They come in packages from some farm in Canada. I don't remember the name.
there's another berry very similar to blueberries, grow in some parts of BC, think they're huckleberries, does that sound right
no idea, flosey
friend I met in Kimberley spoke of them (back in l963-66) have kept in touch over the years
gramma, do you remember the province?
No. I
No 1, counting from west to east? being BC?
brb
Back again with dishwasher loaded :)
Still trying to get used to this laptop keyboard. I
I'm only familiar with Whitehorse Canada. lived there one winter in the 60s.
gramma, I wonder why there's a I at the end of your posts!
that's Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada
where in Alaska are you, gramma?
I keep hitting enter withot meaning to.
trillium comes to mind - evening ladies
Fairbanks
Hoot, I think a trillium only has three petals
hi hoot!
that is 2 petals
that 3 petals - can't type to save my life. Sepals are 3 too
I always find the flip so exciting! So here I am!
crossing fingers for a big one
Me too
