Had a lovely morning, pretending to be a Grandma. A neighbour's patio flooded into the family room, and they needed to do a clean-up. They called to ask if I'd babysit (such a tough decision on my part), and brought the baby to me. The upside - damage not as bad as first thought; the downside - baby slept the whole time ... no playing peekaboo.

Yes, poor me; but I volunteered to babysit anytime they wanted a night out. I've known the baby's mother since she was the same age. Babysitters get about $15 per hour, so going to dinner and a movie plus babysitting fees can run to $100 or more.

well at that point (34 years ago, mind you) i could barely lift a 2 litre soda bottle (drank soda in those days), and vacuuming, changing sheets on the bed would have been impossible.

Oodles, I've got news for you - you have a short period of time - depending on the province, 60 days to about 6 months- to acquire a local dirver's licence. Get cracking kid!

lovely little 13C village -- the inn serves a wonderful galette topped with carmelized sugar.
Lyon is about an hour and a half and it's impossible to park!
sounds wonderful, I'll look for it on a map. We make up for the food with the scenery IF you like lake and mountain views! I'm just tired of cooking

It looks like a real cat but it is not...right now it is curled up in my living room on a chair and throw...so peacefully "asleep"...sometimes I put it on my bed nuzzled against the pillows...he is all white with a cute pink nose...

my not-a-cat is made out of white rabbit fur...hope you don't think I'm loopy..it's just a fun decor thing...often in model homes etc.
I used to have a gorgeous sheltie but she got cancer and we had her operated on but it later returned...putting her down was god awful...just haven't brought myself to get another..plus we travel alot and my mom has a spectacular toy poodle (saved her life in fact!) and I see him nearly everyday he thinks I an his second mom

I am such an animal lover (so is my son) and I have had so many different kinds of pets my entire life..including a flying squirrel, rats, mice, bearded dragons, all kinds of lizards, reptiles...etc...we are voracious feeders for the wild animals in our yard and woods...

true...when I was a kid my brother and I always brought home a new pet at the end of the year LOL...and any fallen birds get nursed back to life by us...

oops left out this...the pet was from our science dept in school...
(although I allowed my children to have 2 bunnies, a guinea pig, and 2 hamsters)

I haven't owned a bunny myself but my daughter-in-law has had several when she was growing up and my son worked at pet stores for many years and the last one he was at had the largest rabbit i've ever seen...very tame..loved to scare me by jumping on my feet...

I guess I do have some live pets at present...I have a garden pond with about 4 huge goldfish and 1 shebunkin in it...I am very worried about them with this huge snowfall but I can't even get to them...pray they survive...
I just have Koda...he's my buddy si5 the kids grew up

my DH and I have pet sitted for a couple of friends/family pets on occasion...funniest one was an african grey parrot we took to our lake campsite and when people walked by he suddlenly said "Stop that sh*t" we nearly fell over...but he wouldn't stop...everyone laughed...
