I was in Melb when the commonwealth games were on in 2006. It was very frustrating because as soon as the Aussies were knocked out of an event there was no further coverage of that event on TV.. I was not amused. there are so many different nationalities in Aus, I wasn't the only one to complain.

we scared him off
cover 1/3 C raisins (i like yellow ones, aka sultaas) with boiling water and let sit for about 20 min. Meanwhile, peel about 8 cloves of garlic and coarsely chop. Combine both those in a pan on med-high with some oil, 1/2C pine nuts, and stir till nuts begin to brown and raisins puff

when cooking for others, i always use fresh - about 2 lbs to the volume of raisins and nuts and garlic listed
i like them better, but regular rasins are fine. I like the contrast too.
that sounds about right. i use frozen spinach a lot for spinach quiches, things like that... but this would be so yummy with the baby spinach tht is in my fridge right now.

Dorens - I haven't tried it on parsnips yet, but roasting is good for any veggie. Sure worked on squash and eggplant. Use whatever herps & spices you like after a spray of oil.
And no matter what the docs say - vegs need salt!

i agree... i roast brussels sprouts, cauliflower, asparagus, broccoli, and the best is butternut squash, cut up tiny-- just toss with olive oil right in the pan and a little s & freshly ground p

the butternut squash ends up tasting sweet like candy, and crisp a bit.. oh yum
add a little balsamic reduction at the end and you have perfection

And meatballs and sausage don't have to be fried before you put them in the sauce
