Hello everyone. Anyone missing Katie?
Katie I can't believe you are on Facebook and Babble lol
Tell her how the pets are pining Norma

The babies are desperate for their mom and dad to come home they are wasting away and not eating and losing tons of weight lol
now I know that's a fib norma I know my crumble!!
Will that tug the heartstrings lynxxx
Crumble has put on about half a stone just like her mom will have done lol

So what is the big thrill you are going to try for this trip Katie
morning all! Ok, so I tried antenna.
Morning Sprite
hi lyn, has today been good?
mmmm - so-so I guess, not much happened. Son is coming over shorty, his birthday yesterday but we didn't see him as we went to a wedding. Whole family is going to post wedding BBQ tonight, that should be fun
we have swum with sharks three times lynxxx feel that covers it lol
yes! eek! don't think I would be game even in the cages
that sounds like a lot of fun. I hope you have a lovely time.
What are you up to today Sprite? (we won't ask Katie as she is just here to brag)
off to pick up a friend of ours who is going to stay for a couple of nights! Planning on chatting, lazing about and watching dvd with our legs up.
How nice. Good to have friends/family for a few days and you can really talk.
oh yes, nothing better. And can you imagine, yesterday I received flowers from my mother, because I have been ill for 3 months.
miracles never cease, do they?
Wow! your sister must have told her?
my husband did. My son stayed with her for the weekend. I was kinda shocked, lol. But I guess it is well meant and I think I will call her to say thank you.
interesting grid. Am running out of things to try fast.
Hi, could anyone give me a clue for the first pa5,12....it's my last one
hi kathw, not me, sorry, but will go look.
unless it is the italian food
pa5.12 it is like a shawl - or add a vowel to the word before
thank you, but not the shawl or the italian food - another one!
and not the glue one either I guess
no, yet another!
oh well, thanks, will come back to it later
The plural of the bald head perhaps?

this is a strange little grid - so many n's and t's why?
The grid seems to all n's and t's and not a lot else lol
have you gotten any of the long words? I have 59 words and nothing longer than 6 and only one of those!
Not yet only seem to be 6 and less
and no builders
No it doesn't seem to run like yesterdays that one was a dream to do
yes
hi guys, those o's are good ones to find
hi sandy
only have two o's on the right
16 left
wow!
the 7?
I just noticed that we rhyme!
haha
just got the 0/6
the 7 and 8 should be easy then
yay
opaques
whoops, stupid DH just telephoned me and got me mixed up! sorry
LOL don't you just hate it when you do that!
is there anything sweet in the PB? I could use an infusion of sugar; he has me crazy this AM!!!!!
we have houseguests starting to arrive on Wednesday and he is acting totally nuts!
Hi all, just come on and ty ruby for the op6, 7 and 8!
hi sally
Love it when I get clues and haven't even looked at the grid yet.
OMG, didn't have the 8! tnak you, sally, and good morning
how many houseguests (as they are only starting to arrive on Wednesday)
the first one for a week; then, maybe, the same day he leaves, my son and his wife for a long visit (with side trips); then, during their stay, a friend of my husband from DC (he'll have to stay in a hotel because we only have one guestroom) and then I'm going to London, while they're here for 3 days.
nobody visits for most of a year and then everybody comes at the same time. I wanted to come to London for a week!
Are you seeing friends and family in London, ruby?
there is a family party on Saturday and my sister may or may not be coming from NY. My best friend lives in Surrey and I wanted to take my own side trips
and the thought of leaving Burt to fend for himself and for the dogs is scary but, on the other hand, it's not going to get better with him. They can all just eat kibble!
Just make sure your fire insurance is up to date before you leave :-)
I am trying to carve out some time for myself and friends, but don't know yet. How are are you from London, Sally?
hahahah -- ruefully.....
far, not are*
Well I'm four hours by train, but I go reasonably regularly to see son and grandson (and d-in-l of course!) so I was just wondering if it could be combined.
good morning, need a clue for the bottom 'o' on far left column, please
Not fair! I would love to go to a Babble meetup!
Too far away
We could all come to Australia if you like, sandyloo!
most regular marc
I would love that! Let's see what I can do. So far, I arrive at Gatwick on Friday, 28 May at 11:50 AM, then having lunch with nephew. Question is whether sister is coming or not.
hello Marc
How I would love to see Australia, but I don't think it will ever happen... :(
marc, its not a word that I have heard used a lot !
Once we have built our house everyone (who is not a serial killer ) is welcome
I couldn't find it either, marc, and the monkeys have been unsuccessful, too.
oifs
well, that wasn't it, lol
sandy, we will all tell you we are not serial killers, but how will you know we are telling the truth?
how many letters is it? hello ruby
sounds like the outline for an Agatha Christie novel!
called "The Houseguests"
LOL If I am still playing babble after your visit, we will all know the truth
lol sandy
I have 10 more minutes then have to make lunch
I have 10 minutes til feedup and rugging
is anybody old enough to remember the game Clue? "Poison in the kitchen"
We called that Cluedo and I do remember it
Is that connected with your lunch making by any chance?
good guess, sally
Miss Scarlet in the library with the gun!
Oh I remember Cluedo! My father made our own set, complete with all the little murder instruments.
if he calls me one more time(from upstairs, BTW), it may happen
the 'o' anyone know how many letters and the first two, please
Colonel Mustard in the drawing room with the knife!
Ruby , mine is away, I have been so lazy
raofl!
Ruby foo in the kitchen with the lunch!
lol sandy!! Why does he keep calling you ruby?
thank you for the laugh, I needed that. Every time we have visitors, he gets in a snit, worrying about everything
any clause for the an 7-28??
marc its of 6
'o'?
thanks Sandy
e.g. Is there space in the refrigerator for all the food? Do you need anything from the drugstore? Are the dogs in or out? Do you think my plants will arrive in the post today?
Put the radio on loud, or put on headphones :-)
of + a sort of exam is a ****
he telephones!
what sort of plants arrive in the post?
lovely clue, ty sandy
got it thanks
nbt now, so I can make lunch and get warm as it's freezing in the studio!
bye for now ruby!
3 mins til feedup
op6, please
we have a fishpond which was gorgeous last year -- 100's of fish, water lilies, reeds, etc. He decided that we needed new plants and ordered them from the Dordogne, wanting the pond to look even better. My philosophy is "If it ain't broke, leave it alone!"
marc, those op's are fun- all are varieties of the same word op6 op7 op8
marc, not transparent
and try not to look through me
ah, the ones that rubyfoo clued so extremely well
I'm definitely transparent!
easy to see when you have them
especially the 7, :(
lol sally
thanks got the 7 too. Is the 8 related?
ok, lunch, no poison today!
yes
and think of the exam
yes, marc, extremely closely related
yes marc
see you soon
have to go now or it will be too dark to feed bbl
got it thanks
((sandy))
what is the other '7' got the op7 and the an7, please?
st7
thanks Norma
back, the farm creatures are fed and rugged
st7,please
poas

Haven't got it yet Marc it is on Lickety's clues sorry
st4/4 plus little insect
st 7: st4 + a small creature that no one wants to a picnic

fireworks
yay sandy go sandy!!
hoooraaay for sandy
lol, it's hard when you're all alone here
do you need any clues
thanks for the offer, but i'm only just starting, so i'll do a bit more on my own first. do you often fininshy?
finish
i'm the same I never like clues at the beginning and I don't often finish , I just like having a go
the o's are fun, i didn't see them for ages
me too, but it's great when you do get the fireworsk
i've found 2 os so far - op
it is , is that guernsey in your icon pic?
st peter port, guernsey, where i was born
looks nice
love your dogs
24 down please
it's a beautiful little island.
is that the time's crossword you're doing, babble?
we have a border collie as well as the two jacks
lovely animals. i just have a cat

we have two horses and lots of chooks and a cat
bye sandy, enjoy the evening
bye gl
just got my last E. Groan. How could I have missed the volcano?
4 words to find.
20 for me. love the o- words
And finished. Any clues needed?
are you still there sally?
off then. *gone*
hoooooraaah for Sally, i was called to the phone, so you may not have got my congrats
Screeches to a half and turns round. Just about ruby
hi, ruby
hello, I'm sorry to keep you
half!! sb halt
hi girlie
congrats!
How was poison lunch?
I'll talk to you soon about my schedule
what was poison lunch? Poisson?
he apologized for being nasty and crazy this AM, so it was OK. No poison today
no girley, se were joking this morning about my poisoning my husband, but he got another reprieve!
poisson was the other day when I boiled a whole fish for the first time
glad to hear it. i wouldn't want to see you in the Bastille
was it good?
and then Sally, always giving me much-needed advice, told me how to bone a raw fish, something I had never done!
good morning. would greatly appreciate lower left o for nbt?
me too Trif
yes, it was a very fresh fish from this lake, an ombre-chevalier
hello trif
hello ruby! and my cow girl!
of 6/27 = the most frequent
of6, rarely seen form
many thanks, ruby! nbt for work, lovely!
I have nbt but still have 36 to go..... :(
ombre-chevalier + char in Wiki. i prefer the french name
ty for of clue
it was lovely, but was given to me whole not in the anticipated filets
I like the French name too but don't know how they got from char to horseman of the shadows :-)
by the way, in case it applies to any of you lovely ladies, I found a brilliant survey on line, just in time for mother's day, that revealed that moms who stay home would be paid, on average, $136,000 for the work they do, if we were hired by another family to do it.
I was horrified when I saw its sweet face!
my typing has gone haywire - it's exhaustion
boy, I never did the translation -- that's lovely, Sally
oh no, ruby. i can't eat a fish face
when I used to go fishing (a lot), somebody else always fileted the fish for me; I never had to kill or gut them or I wouldn't have eaten them\
my husband won't eat lake fish, so I never tasted this kind before
i used to be able to gut and fillet mackerel, but i've got more squeamish as i've got older
Looks cautiously round for Scrabbler. My brother used to go rabbiting and I learnt to clean and skin them, not always entirely successfully!
when I was a kid, my father used to fish and my mother did the honors, killed and cooked them, but I never watched her
clues for the 7s and the 8 plz
and now you have a lovely coat made from 35 rabbit skins!!! lol
the 8 builds on the op 6 and 7
no ruby!!
if he's lucky, moviem will find my old gaffe!
clue for op6 sally?
when I was in college and had no money, I found a white rabbit coat for about $100 that I wore for many years
op6 not transparent
it's a high-scoring word, op 6/30 and means not transparent
hard to keep white, i'd imagine
ty sally
then plural and most so
as it got older, it yellowed a bit and looked like beaver. It was beautiful and very warm
and when it totally wore out, in my hippie days, I used it as lining and put a patchwork quilt on the outside!
those rabbits didn't owe you anything
you don't still wear it, I take it.
we're talking about many MANY years ago!!!!
oh, was trying to visualise you as a mature hippie!
but, forgive me for admitting it, I still have fur coats; it is just too cold for me otherwise
some of the ladies here have coats made from what look like rat or squirrel skins --100's of tiny ones
yeugh
hamsters?
the only wild animals left are tiny field mice and wild boar
that's a lot of sewing.
o
I need to do some planting, but just feel too tired. DH found me a double hollyhock the same color as the house plus seeds for more of the same!
There you are, he's not all bad then. Freezing cold outside today so staying the warm.
can I get a clue for the an7 please?
very cold here, too, and he's built a fire for me
.. /in/ the warm.
he has his good points, hence the reprieve!
hi faith, but don't have it
an + nickname for the babbler who is in the Scillies and has hurt her leg, plus abbreviation for South East
what an elegant clue!
hee hee :-)
i don't fully understand it, but i seem to have got the answer anyway.
My mind does work in strange ways sometimes.
lol gg
why isn't natate a word? it sounds like swimming to me!
has anyone got st7?
yes, hang on
not me, unfortunately
st 4/4 + little insect
good morning everyone..i am blinded by t,s and n,s and a,s;(
ty, sally
hi crosshair
nanatanata
Thats what the grid looks like to me
morning everyone...just scrolled back. Ruby, many synthetic furs are now warmer and more durable than real fur :(
another beauty, sally, ty ty
and I always want to put in anno, which is not accepted.
but not as beautiful!
There is no drinking water where I am because of a water main break
I tried anno a couple of times in case enable changed its mind!
phantom: annotate
hi kaplan, I like the way you used the t's and n's anda's!
let them drink Evian!
hi fuqua!
hi ruby, et al
I think they look better on the animals..
not to belabour the pint but as nb says there are artificial furs and man made textiles that are far superior that fur stripped from the animals
nancy: synthetic fibers are made from petroleum products; I think that's a lose lose situation
hi crossy
i like to belabour a pint, now and then -- preferably real ale
Everyone's going to Cambridge for their water because they have a different reservoir
I don't wear synthetic fiber clothes, either, or plastic shoes!
lol gurnsey
or guiness!
lol, Guernsey!
plastic and petro products are the bane we live with
just look at the oil catastrophe in the Gulf and we can talk about oil-based products!
but unless you poop in an ouuthouse and eat from mason jars, you are stuck with it as well
like synthetic fabrics and plastic
but at least fur keeps me warm!
and I still eat meat
but not whale or battery chicken
who in the heck still eats whale??
I try not to eat battery whales, either.
Norwegians, Icelanders, Japanese and Inuit, to name a few
big batteries, sally
no,battered whales do not fit in the pan anyways
Haven't you heard the old Very Lynn song: Whale Meat again?
and polar bears
oh, VERA Lynn!
bonjour Jean
aloe Vera
allo*
bonjour ruby
mm,i think this is a good day to dive into the grid..sploosh
lol, Sally
The chog is full of typos today.
it's because we're all cold and our fingers are stiff
typos and friends, a good combination!
can I get a clue for the an6 please?
Just be careful not to type fiends instead.
or we just got out of bed and are our eyes are half closed
same here, I'm gonna be off - don't want to start any arguments, and this is something that I just don't agree with. Later, all
no, the fiends are all visiting sandloo!
I wish, faith, but not yet.....
Bye NB, we just have to all agree to disagree sometimes.
you betcha!
trying to think of a clue for the an6.
when there is talk about tattoos in the chog, I just quietly slink away....
A + *** King Cole, + first half of Dorothy's dog in Oz
ty sally - that one had me stumped
that's funny, Sally, I knew the word and was trying to find it, but thought it was speeled with two n's
or spelled
ty, sally. i thought you meant old king cole at first.
Makes me think of amaretto (now you're talking!)
and amaretti biscuits
what time did you say it is? lol
omg!
does your son live in London, Sally?
lol, gg. Sometimes people clue from other countries and I haven't the slightest idea what or who they are talking about!
Yes, he lives in Dulwich
I am staying at the Copthorne Tara which I think is in Kensington. Nephew lives in Nottinghill. I don't know London except for St. Johnswood.
Down a bit and right a bit
Is it near Surrey?
or near Gatwick?
yes, the other day all the americans kept pointing me to mustard, and i'd never heard of guldens
I thought that was a Dutch brand -- hahaha
Very good site for getting round London by public transport: <http://www.tfl.gov.uk/home.aspx>
isn't hanta the name of a virus? must be capitalized
uh ruby pb for you for that laugh
Dulwhich is about half an hour from Kensington High Street.
Oh dear, oh dear. DULWICH
on foot or by tube?
Surrey is a big county. Where in Surrey?
sunninghill
I just made the reservation on Saturday, so am still a little bit up in the air
ruby, I can get from Central London to Gatwick no probs, or from Dulwich to Kensington no probs. I think Sunninghill might not be so direct, would have to go and look.
easyjet cost less than 1/3 the price of a flight on BA!
Geneva --> London
If I went to Kensington from Dulwich, I would take the train to Victoria, then bus probably. Don't particularly like the tube unless it's essential.
this sounds doable, but I'll have to fiddle some more and find out if my sister is coming or not. He husband is gravely ill and although she doesn't like him, she is reluctant to abandon him to nurses etc.
I am starting to get excited about the trip; I was delaying anticipating it, because I didn't think I'd be able to do it
must go now, see you later
((sally))
Well don't worry about it at the moment.
{{guernsey girl}}
should I wear a fur boa LOL LOL?
so you can recognize the old hippie
still here ruby
No, just tuck the fresh fish under your arm.
I used to have one from the Salvation Army, little paws and all
or add it to my hat!
I really will be off now unless anyone needs any more clues?
i have to go as well, but i'll be back later to do the last few, bye all
*gone*
Good morning ... Is this grid like yesterday'a?
just for you ruby:))) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipKwNbD 1M1Y
Good Morning - small but deadly grid I see. Hmmm, maybe a few more N's and T's would help...
i want some more a,s myself
It looks like that to me, too. Yuck!
Not much activity here ... I'm going to eat breakfast. bbl
bye mudd
Mornin' folks
Hmmmm. Quiet in here.
howdy hego
Morning, hego ... everyone is lurking thia a.m.
Oh, Crossy is here
lol the fur was flying earlier hehe
Hi you two.
good morning all
I'm eating breakfast and just reading the chog to see what I missed while I started changing the bedding, etc.
Hi Bob
Just finishing my tea, thought i'd say hi.
stuck on the very first t. lol
I thought the grid would be as nasty as yesterday's, but for some reason, I'm feeling a tad bit better about it ... it's my frame of mind sometimes, I think.
little kids
Hi kje and ty
yw
No Mudd, yesterday was icky.
easy so far, made it down to 20 pretty quickly, but hit a wall
Look out for those walls!
yes, it hurt
but seems a good time to grab coffee... bbiab
Yes, coffee helps.
Well, I'm up to 60 and I haven't been here long so it must not be too bad.
Sounds good
May I ask why nono is not a word ... it's no worse than some babblets.
you mean like nene?
yes, even naoi
Who knows?
12...ok, now coffee...lol...got sucked back in
the coffee did it.
73 and it would be more if I'd stick to lurking, but I'm too nosey. Have to see if there's any news.
Or clues ... lol
Washer stopt, have to hang out sheets ... brb
Me too Mudd. I like to chat too much.
hello
Hi stud. teehee
sup stud muffin
hello adam44
ok, back with coffee and a mandarin
Yum :-9

I watched The Lovely Bones last night--interesting + sad movie.
damn typos
I saw it dubbed in French, but it was still a fine movie!
Book was much better
They changed the whole story
I loved the book
scrabbler, had you read the book? i remember really loving the book, but i have been hesitant to see the movie for fear that it doesnt do the book justice.
Books are always better than movies.
It was great book Scrabbs - havent wanted to watch the movie - troubling story
(i havent seen "my sisters keeper" for the same reason)
I'm a movie junkie, I'm afraid, will watch anything that doesn't have computer-generated violence!
Eva, I loved that book.
ruby you may know this film, its about a janitor at a airport who finds a old captains hat and regales the local kids with tall tales about his "flying carrear" it is supposed to be very good
a indie film i think
movie was okay, Ruby, but the book had a better story
we satched sherlock holmes last night. it was much better than i expected -- i quite enjoyed it!
I don't know it but the films we get here are an odd assortment. Some appear on French TV before they're even released in the US

Have to go friends. hagd. bbl.

It is tough to move past the "cool" generations.
how come i get older and they all stay 25? whats with that?
There are more and more of those youngsters all of the time. They are so supremely confident and omniscient.
had a doc fill in for my family doctor he comes in looking like he sahves once a week and i ask him if his dad will be seeing me soon and will he not be mad that you have his coat lol

better to get older than the alternative
i am glad as well i would never want to be in my 30s again, thats for sure and will soon be gearing up for the big 50
50's are a good decade. you are much less worried about what people think of you
perfect, good thing about being older my da says is that you can do whatever you want because no one takes you seriously lol
after 60, most people don't even notice you, let alone take you seriouslyt

I was a young mom.
i started late,i was 31 before we decided on the insanity of children in our lives wife was 24
sounds like a good age.

G'wan, guys never go into marriage of their own accord.
always need a push.
lol i said yes didnt i?
the push worked.
My hubby was all for the marriage...and kids aren't going to happen until I am at least 32 (currently 31).
I can't be any later than when my mom had me..at 40!
hi all....clue please for an7/28 please?
they're all for it, but need encouragement.

lolol
my hubby proposed on our first date
hi Flask
Hi jmc!
And I know not to wait too long...it wasn't my choice to wait so long, but when your soul mate doesn't enter your life until late 20's...
hi hego
Hi Hego......all this romance is making me doe-eyed!!!
Wow, jmc!
I was 32 when i married
No, the timing is good Miz
i told my boy,as soon as he is set up,mom and i are going to move right out to the west coast of B.C,buy a 800 sq foot place.that way no one can move back home with a pregnant girlfriend(s)
i turn him down that time -- he was my 13th married proposal
good planning Crossy.
first date is kind of soon. lol
I agree Cross....excellent idea!!
he was a very romantic man
13th?? lol jmc..were you in the yellow pages? lol
hi all.
lmao.....
I figured so, hego..I knew what I wanted to do with my life, college out of the way and career going forward
hey i was a very hot young woman
howdy red
hi red

hehe
Hi Red
now *flaps belly fat* not so much\
jmc you are still hot, just dont tell son!
a clue please for an7 please?
lol red my son tells his friends i was smart not to remarry when hubby died!
he may be right jmc....
Flas, an + nick name of Babbler with dog Hobbit + opp of nw
easy for him to say. . . . .
I was in a bar a while ago, and an old man was looking at me for ages. Eventually he said 'I bet you were really good looking when you were young'.
It ends with the enzyme ending.
jmc, thanks for your cash advice, I am still rooting about the mutual fund world.
he sabotage all of my dates until i gave up
I was just about to thank him, when the penny dropped. Talk about a double whammy. No longer young, and no longer good looking...
hi jan.
Hi Soodle. that's what you call a left handed compliment.
Hego I only know Spangle!
try vanguard they have the lowest costs (do confuse fees with costs)
Hi Everybody :)
the smug babbler Flask.
Spangle's friend
English lady
he may have meant you were well preserved soodle
He didnt!!!
One more question. I can have multiple IRA's like roth, but I can only contribute 5K a year no matter how many IRAS I have right?
No...not getting it
that is correct until you are old like me and then you can add another $1k
no idea Red
sorry Flask. Hard to clue.
i be a tax lawter hego
*lawyer
I was waiting for you to jump in jmc.
an + vowel + cross letter + same vowel + opp of NW
ty Miz
yw
i did i did hego
I needed help with that clue.
I just noticed jmc. Sorry.
anataes
I didn't get the first clue either, but monkeyed the middle letters..
oh noooooooooooooo....sorry folks!
an 6/18 please
close Flask
luckily not a word, flask
but I tried it anyway!
not close enough tho'....
swithch last 2 letters
uh switch
thanks JMC, I have an IRA that is performing well, astoundingly bad, but have already contributed 3K to it this year. so I think I will cap it out at 5K and then invest somewhere else, likeVanguard. Apparently I can also now use TIAA Kref even though I am not a teacher.
Aaaah.....got it!!....at last!
YAY!
YAY!!
jmc, I fear I shall never be able to retire and I do so dislike going to work...
change jobs
grid has a few babblets, volcano alert!
move the badly performing ira to vanguard
Yes, but JMC then I shall not make as much cash, so, I am in a bind. It may get better at the new job in a month, I hope so.
It's earning 0.1% interest at Wachovia. Can I do that?
ty red
well maybe change professions
Maybe, but the expense and time imvolved, I'm better off to work like crazy for 20 years...
absolutely, it is worth taking the early withdrawal hit if it is a CD -- you roll it over. Vanguard can help you do that
20 years of hating to go to work? yech!
Wow! I'm so glad someone learns all this stuff.
Not a CD< its a Roth. My CD is doing slightly better.... but something happened in January.
brb my board chair is on the phone
the IRA interest rate just plummeted and apparently a lot of them did.
When my advisors talk finance to me, my eyes glaze and I go into a fugue state.
hego, My Mom is the expert, if she had learned it she and my Dad would be completely broke and still working.
But she gets very nervous when I talk money to her, so....
err, if she had not learned.
I have people Red, I'd never be able to do it.
I knew what you meant.
It bores me silly.
Well, I need people, but this is the first year I have tried to be a bit more involved, since the retirement is starting to get closer.
It terrifys me!
It is scary, Red
I guess not to jmc, btu to me, it really bothers me, so I keep trying to get a handle on it.
OMG. The Ash Cloud is back. They are talking about closing down Irish Air Space again...
Oh, no Soodle!
It sounds like you're doing well, Red
I have to go. bbl to finish.
back
can anyone clue the an 6/18?
i get lots of help from jmc.
the main things to understand is: you can't beat the market and you can roll over every last ira into vanguard or another indexed fund
Miz - AN plus @ in letters, and ** and fro....

This grid makes me feel smart
Hi Gadget, not me
hello friends, looking for a few minutes of distraction before I head out to meet with classmates on the "big project" for the quarter. I really DO NOT like working in groups. I really much prefer to work alone... *she said petulantly, revealing her essential introvert nature*
*waves at departing ruby*
Hi Stid. I am with you, I hated when the boys had to do group projects
Hi Stid and Mom....
oh, I thought Ruby was saying good bye to some one else. Bye bye Ruby
okay, down to 50. listing (and wishing people thought I had done all that in just three minutes...)
Hi Flask
I know you can get 50 words in 3 minutes Stid, you are that smart!!!
rofl... if only my instructors at the college thought as you do, Mom!
Dear Instuctors, It is my first hand experience that Stidmama, is extremely bright and well versed in the Enable Dictionary of Babble. She is able to complete the task with a minimal number of questions and she can clue the words expertly. I recommend that she passes with all A's and is removed from doing any group projects. Sincerely, Mom
*grin* I am going to print this out and send it to my favorite instructor... (((Mom)))
{{Stid}} hope it helps.
I am sure this instructor must have a sense of humor
there. As and Es are eliminated
congrats Stid.
As a college professor, I accept your evaluation Mom, and I admire Stidmama's obvious intellect. :D
thanks Dindrane! :-D
Hi Dindrane, thank you.
with 39 left I must be off, hope to be back later. {{Hugs}} to all of you
Thanks!
and yes, this is the teacher who is helping me work on the "balance" between being "superteacher" and "adequate mom"
Thats some recommendation Stid!!
later Mom. thanks again! (((more hugs)))
you are very welcome Stid, {{{{{hugs}}}}
this grid is really quick with the list.
it is only quick with the smartest of babblers. :-) **poof**
*hits the brick wall of Q-dom*
there. Qs Qrumbled.
hm. firewords. That was a little too quick. Now I have no excuse for the rest of the day.
*heavy sigh* does anyone need clues?
and hello Flask! (((hugs)))
am struggling with the Q's
well doneStid!
the Qs were not as hairy as I had feared... anything specific?
*clueing figners engaged*
lol...the first 4 and the last one...lol
please?
teh first Q4 is a bog, qu ** (almost sounds like a duck) the last two letters are a vowel and a consonant with 3 pts.
qu5/16 the top lady that wears the crown but change one vowel
the very last Q is a search, like the hunt for the holy grail, or an adventure in search of self
hey Momneeds!
qu5/16 (last one) a journey for a purpose
hey stid - thought I would give you a clue hand while passing by
not that you need it of course
then plural the first qu4 and the following qu 5 is like the first part of a number word, qu***ity.
the qu 6 adds a vowel to the end of the number word
isnt the qu6 an aussie airline
thanks Mom -- actually, good you came in. I have to leave in a couple minutes to go to a meeting with classmates.
I think it's an airline if you add an S to the end, yes
I'm at work waiting for some information to complete a project I am working on so may need to run soon but will help while I can
Meetings - ugh!
thanks for those!
I hope it's at least an interesting project. I am not having a lot of fun with the project(s) I have been assigned this quarter!
except the creative writing unit I am working on the practicum class -- that is going to be a lot of fun!
any time, mom.
I meant, any time flask *sigh*
wish I could say it was - but NO it is a very boring project but one that needs to be done
bad thing bout living up here this time of year...red and yellow pepper....$.4.00 a pound!!
That's probably my cue to get packed up and head out. It's a location I don't know so probably will miss it the first time past.
wow - thats robbery
(((cross))) well, at least it's available. Remember when we were kids and you couldn't get things like that year-round?
have a great day stid
I keep wondering if my children even understand the idea that "salad" (which tom loves) used to be a spring and summer dish only!
nana \juh-NAH-nuh\, noun: Absolute knowledge acquired through meditation and study as a means of reaching (in Hinduism) Brahman; (in Buddhism) a state of awareness independent of conceptual thought.
be well, stid
lol, stiddles,i remember, were were still working on stuff mom canned in october and last years taters
have you started your garden yet crossy
hi, i'm back. Water is almost fully to Summer temp
hi, crossy
thanks Mom. hope you do too -- and maybe the project will get done-done and you can move on to something more fun.
not till end of may mnh, though we have seedlings inside
howdy dc
hey seain. and have a lovely day!
ty, you too, stid
Baltimore Babble Meet-up this coming Saturday!
((cross)) yep. sounds familiar. except my mother didn't can things usually, we just ate things out of tin cans a lot.
*leaves choclits for everyone* *poof*
we have ours in the basement under lights being lightly fanned
we do have peas in - they are starting to reach for the lines
salad was apr-early nov where i live.
speaking of salad, we have planted some lettuce already
years we don't have record snow, we can plant Spring crops in early March
which variety, momneeds?
you are far enough south - too cold up here usually to plant until May - this year it warmed early.
I'm not sure what husband put in - will be some green loose leaf variety
yes. just far enough south
sounds yummy
how long did it take your snow to disappear from the February Fury
the tallest piles went away at the end of March
those were 2+ stories high
most was gone by middlemarch
thats incredible - I did see some pretty big piles when coming into Philly airport
it was more snow than i saw in Boston in the Winter of 93-94. Broke our 1887 record for snowfall in a season handily, and exceeded the storied Knickerbocker Storm handily.
and only 3 buildings collapsed, with no deaths or injuries :)
I was stuck in Florida and couldnt get home because of this storm. I got a big kick out of the name "February Fury" the weather channel gave. I am used to big storms having always lived in the northeast. Two feet - brush it off and get to work - no excuses. Three feet - hmmm - thats alittle more challenging.
we usually get at most a foot here, and more than 18 inches causes big problems.
we got two 30+ inch storms in a single week, which is HIGHLY unusual around here
sadly, the boots i've had for 28 years gave up the ghost this Winter. They served well, and i will miss them.
thats the week I got stuck because all connecting flights, DC, Philly, Charlotte were cancelled
I's say its long time for a new pair
even Newark closed for several days. horrible for travel
LOL very much time for a new pair :)
I even tried to get a flight northwest to come back east, but Chicago, Ohio and New York were also closed
wow! i didn't realise the great lakes were that impacted too.
It started in the midwest and gained momentum as it came east
i've been in Cleveland in Wintertime. Thanks to lake effect, they rarely close anything for snow. Like Buffalo
I got to run now - just got the info I needed for my project here at work - see you tomorrow
hello all\
locally, it was called Snomageddon or snowpocalypse
be well, momneeds
hi and bye peri
want a newer car but can't decide between leasing or buying. and if buying new vs used. I am making myself crazy. or should I say more crazy :)
thats great - you gotta love it! Bye dcs
there is a very good leasing option available at Honda dealers but it ends today and I do not want to feel pressured so I am doing nothing at the moment re cars
ah Peri, was just passing through here. Have you looked into Entreprise Rental, they sell their cars when they get to 35,000 miles or so.
they have a no hassle, no haggle policy and their cars are marked much lower than a dealer
i bought a certified used some years back
or lease with a buy out option
it came off lease, and was low-milegae
3 or 5 year
that's a good option, to crossy
http://www.enterprisecarsales.com/cars ales/home.do
http://vimeo.com/9295614 is a video of the february snow on Capitol Hill, DC
we saved between 6 and 8 thousand buying ours from there last summer
guess Peri is gone
crossy has an issue with enterprise rental..grr...
what happened crossy?
i like National a lot
never had dealings with anyone but Hertz for a rental. My cousin told me about Enterprise to buy a used car from, and here in Cincinnati they were most kind and helpful
first time i had rented a car in 20 years, mine was getting a tune up and was not ready...as it tuned out it ended up being an 8 day rental, and they rooked me into the rental insurance that they offer on their cars.it cost me !66 dollars!!!! silly me,i could of got a rider polocy on my regular insurance for 25 dollars for the rental period..guess they fooled crossy, but ill never use them again
ah, yes, many don't know that they have or can get a rider on ins policy.
fool me once....
oh Crossy
but not again
crossy, i learned that there's an annual Baco de Mayo party here in DC
what the heck is that?
a day-long party celebrating and eating Bacon
ohhh..but alas i am cut off,but for once a month now;((
how sad! heart issues?
fat issue, the apnea will kill me one night unless i lose some weight
i am carrying 50 pounds too much
:/ hope that the weight loss goes well for you.
brb, pasta's ready
so it is all grilled meat on the foreman grill, veggies, baked taters, rice and fruit and fibre, fibre, fibre
so much fibre im sure i shall be farting dust in no time:))
no bread, pasta,no peanut butter, bacon, cheese, little olive oil for cooking,no margerine or butter...;((
i came in just in time for that. Oh, joy.
no bacon!!!!!
no chips,or processed snack, and lots of plain unbuttered popcorn
once a month hego
Sorry to hear Crossy.
there is a part that makes this diet work in that you have one "free day" per month
i once lost a ton of weight on it
and shall again
back
You should try weight watchers
You can't dtay on that diet forever.
hi all, returning for my last 25, they are really hiding...
Hi Seain
it is good hego, it covers all the main things and weight watcher is $$$$$$$$
Not so much Crossy. I think.
Me too Red.
I'm never been a big fan of having a bunch of people applaud your 2 pound weight loss or give you a keychain for losing weight.
hi, hego and red
last i checked hego was 350 per month and thats just the main courses and desserts, you still have to buy all your greens and dairy
but then again, I have issues.
cross, weight watchers is not a good plan.
its only an eating plan.
errr, I meant to say FOOD plan not good.
true Red but their diet is great and doable.
too pricy anyways i have this menu of mine from a dietician at the hosp,so it is a good 1
what of Nutrisystem?
I meant I think Cross is thinking of nutrisystem...
pah! ill just eat right and pass on the shakes lol
yes, that is the expensive one.
I can say without reservations, a roommate of mine did nutrisystem, the food was awful. it was soooo unappealing and such.
And if you lose weight it's temporary.
I actually had no bread or butter for approximately 3 years straight. it is totally possible to live without bread.
not always fun, but possible.
yes, but very hard for some folks, Red
the starch aholics
here it is in a nutshell..breakfast a small bowl of bran cerial,a slice of whole wheat toast,1 boiled egg, half a banana and a glass of o.j,,,lunch is a small tossed green salad with a light dressingor a single sandwich with meat lettuce and a tsp of mayo..dinner is grilld chicken, lean chop or fish, veggies and a large baked tater,1 tsp marg...deset is fresh fruit or plain popcorn
After a while I got used to it, but....I should not enter into any food discussions. I also did not eat Mayo for years and years. It was a nice thing to have some last year.
then there is alway fruit in the house
Yum
at home, i eat almost no bread
sounds good, crossy
that has been my problem...bread
..and bacon lol
It is a good diet, if you pretty much stick to it. and Yams, yams are a thing I adore. such a nice starchy food thats like a superfood.
so,i think it is a good line up and i should not have to resort to the other programs
the diabetic diets we put people on is very much like WW.
yes red, lots and lots of fruit and veggies
low glycemic.
Watch the starches and sugars.
crossy has never had a yam;/
you are kidding cross?
wait is not a yam a sweet tater?
yam commonly called sweet potato - orange flesh
they are slightly different but either one is super good for you.
i love sweet taters!!!
i have TAN dizziness
i slice them into shoe strings and fry them in a splash of olive oil
I think the frying negates some of the goodness cross!
Hi Hurshy. what is tan dizziness? the grid?
like i say, that too must go,but how bad is a tbs of olive oil?
hi, hurshy
yes, 4 T 4 A 4 N - makes me dizzy so many of same letters
OK, No food discussion for me. I am not a superb eater, though I have improved greatly in the past two years....today not so much.
lol red,i am done anyways
good luck on the diet Crossy.
4 of my 13 left are 7s and the 8
i think it isn't possible for me to lose weight. i can keep from gaining more, it seems, if i exercise, but nothing wants to come off at this point. talk about running to stand still.
ty hego, will start as soon as a bunch of free coupon i have ordered from air miles comes in the mail..100 dollars of free groceries
hurshy you may not be eating enough.
;)
op8
i'm down a pant size and a half since Jan.
yes but you're a MALE
i may not be eating enough??!?!?!?!
I'm not. But, I stopped running and just sort of started to trian again today, which was really not fun.
i have to eat MORE to LOSE weight?
i'd not tried OP at all. taht closes out the O for me. 10 to go.
Just what I was thinking Hursh.
ty, hego
Yup Hursh. sometimes if you eat too little, your body then goes into a conservation mode.
hi all....clue please for st7 please?
yw
well, i don't eat too little.
flask, i do not have it, I would like it though....
don't have it either.
yes, I thought that too....but now I know what a regular meal should look like.

yay for tonic?
yes, anyone else want to play scramble with me?
I'll drink to that!
I finally beat Owl in a Scramble game. it was very close
i can take or leave tonic, but i love gin
why bother with whole grain cheezits when your using a gin and tonic to wash them down? lol
I always leave gin, but toni is nice.
wonders how much whole grain those cheezits really have.
thanx DC for the clue!
and it is real tonic and not diet :)
Every little bit helps Crossy.

Hushed silence as Soodle enters the chog....
(When I say hushed silence, I was not talking literally....)
hello soodle, I just got here, walked the dog....and now he is all riled up.
Hey Red. Riled dogs = trouble!
I think in about oh 8 minutes he will collapse. its very hot out there.
hi Soodle, hi red
hi bo.
Enjoy the heat, Red. The volcanic ash has closed all Irish airspace AGAIN. Its becoming a bit tedious now.

No ash here but Oil steadily heading in to our beaches, our income.
left over clue from last friday bojazz, for endive!
I have been watching that disaster on the news. It is just dreadful.
So far, it has not really come ashore, but, no one is sure what may occur so we are all sort of watching.
My son was due to fly back to England at 6.30am tomorrow morning - so he has an unexpected extended holiday. But I'm sure his boss is tearing his hair out. Twice in two weeks is not funny any more
any clues for an6, 18?
true soodle, I suppose the ferries etc are jammed.
DEB, an plus @ (in spelling form) and ** and fro...
Red, the Ferries are no-go areas. Booked up since the news broke. This is going to be a total disaster for the country's economy...

Hi crossy... I'd say you got the raw end of the deal, but at least your chicken and tater were cooked :-)
mmmmmm liver
never tried liver. what does it taste similar to? besides liver, that is
it is a strong flavor with a velvet texture -- have you ever had pate?
never had pate either. i don't like "soft" proteins, but I can imagine the texture of pate
my favorite meal growing up was liver.
we would see the cartoons where everyone was complaining and couldn't understand it because we call loved it and the tomato gravy over rice
Liver, onions, and bacon. amazing, frightening, and old school. I love it.
oky gots to go home after a long day at work
hello
It's kind of like, I grew up with gefilte fish. It's an acquired taste.

3rd qu5 is like the line around the middle of the earth with the first letter removed and the last 2 removed and one other added.
qu + past tense of eat
qu - sounds liek the most important that wears the crown but change one vowel
Thanks y'all.

Ill work on that.
ok what you have left kaplan?
st7 - an animal standing with all 4 feet on the grounf in hearldic terminology. Otherwise, try st4.4 + picnic pest insect.
Im working on the anagram of Satan-
second the last qu 5 soundss like a monarch but uses first vowel in vowel list first.
Oh, I should hjave known the qu from wordsplay!
The USA has many sta***.

Got the st. Now back to the an7.

Good luck, crossy.
I finished hours ago and so have the time to chat and clue.
Just that last an7- slowly now.
I havent had time for firworks in days.
an7......
an + a vowel + British thank you short form + first 2 letters of another word for the ocean?

I can't get it. Give me a step by step idiot's clue.
santa *** winds + anagram of 'teas'

FIREWORKS!!!
y.w Minski.
Well done Minski.
Cripes.
Jac ~ what is the name of hte fb word game you play?
an6/18?
How many anagrams for teas can there be?
Kaplan must've read comic books as a child. I'm the only one I know whosays 'cripes' apart from him or her.
an+first vowel+ ****r gun..i cannot think of anything more atm
There are none so blind as those who will not see!
I love being a him or her- but I would like to get this %^^&&*(( word!

Oh, thank God. Fireworks.
Duh!!!!
Minski - I play Lexulous, Scramble,. Scrabble, Wordscraper, WordTwist, Pathwords and Word Tornado.

Weboggle- are you a wordsplay person?
yatzee!
Hallelujah.
yes kaplan, hence weboggle-whoa :)
hail mary and pass the cole slaw;0
Yatzee! GIN!
Who are you on wordsplay? How do you like this in comparison?
some else had whoa, even though I've been using it on wordsplay (formerly weboggle) for years
Lol Crossy. My best friend's first hubby, a Geordie with a loud voice used to love playing Yatzhee! When he yelled it and thumped his fist down something almost always got broken.
I like both. it's like comparing a marathon and a sprint
Thanks Jac. Have you ever gotten a virus from fb? I had some issues from other fb games. Now on a new laptop and wary of fb games.
lol
UNO!
Once, it was his wife's hand, which is probably why they are divorced now.:(
crossy does not like sprint word games
Or comparing crack and heroin!
Not that I know personally...
hey this is not addictive, ive qwit many times;)
It's just what I hear tell!
quit
Tallulah Bankhead said "Cocaine is not addictive- I should know. I've been usijng it all my life."
I think it's hilarious that evan put a log-me-off-after-one-game option on wordsplay
I sa a Babbler yesterday apologising to her pastor and everyone else she knew for accidentally passing a porn virus on from a game site she'd clicked on onn B.
He did? that's a riot- no one can take that option. "Bet you cant eat just one!"
i tried cocaine once in my 20,s did not think much of it so i asked my buddy what was so special about it and he said"it intensifies your personality" and i said "ok,but what if your an asshole?"
Jac, that's another riot.
Ha Ha Cross!
I don't 'do drugs - just booze and cigarettes. ROFLOL.
That is excellent.
Reality is for people who can't handle drugs?
brb have to go hose down and soap this mass of muscle...semi-poof
I've had no problems so far with viruses from FB - but maybe I've got a good virus scan?
I'm leaving soon too. DOn't wanna catch a virus (Massachusetts drinking water is contaminated in some towns).
I picked up some sort of a weird email virus. My email sends emails to all sorts of people that I've never heard of. I keep getting odd messages back in my bulk mail folder. they are quickly deleted but i hope nothing comes of it. I keep expecting the cops to come banging on my door for something my email did that I am unaware of.
i had fb for exactly 3 days and had to remove it
Reality is Not Very Nice. Message to all citizens f the UK - be sure to vote wisely on 4th May.
I talk to dead people on FAcebook- it's too weird.
What is a wise vote in the UK? What's up with Labor-ah- Labour?
You're funny Kaplan.
I don't keep address books in my e mail. That way, if you do get a virus it doesn't go to everyone you communicate with.
I have a rapier wit and a witty rapier.
pa 5/12 please 1st one
I live in one of the contaminated towns in MA. You would think armegeddon was on our doorstep instead of a boil water for the next few days order.
Kaplan - what's up with Labour? I daren't even begin on that or I'll be here all night.
1st pa5.12 - anagram of soap + a vowel.
67 ~ definition = a song of praise = p + 3 vowels + consonant
outty ~ time for dessert ~ nighty night all
tyvm Jacula & Minski
Minski - wasn't boiling water the norm before we all got 'civilised'?
Weren't you supposed to use your eyes and your nose to see if food was okay to eat before all these 'sell by' and 'use by' dates became the fashion? Wasn't common sense once the norm?
Before everyone looked for the slightest reason to sue someone for something, didn't we just trip over something, look around to see if we'd made a fool of ourselves and then dust ourselves off, get up and get on with life?
I can see I'm talking to myself now. That's normal.
Hi Jac!
Hi Pav.
first day of staycation...and I don't know where to start...
Fireworks! See you all tomorrow after the flip. Nite.
hey babblers, can i pls have clues for my last 2: an7 and first ta5/10?
good evening all, 22 left and the going has gotten tough.
14 left here
a clue for an6?
same first 4 of the an7 + ** be or not ** be
hi all
of?
an7 = girl's name+eltric shooting weapon fpr police folk- minus the r
the most of3 shirlock
my clue was for Pav's an6
brilliant, thanks for that pav, did you get pini's clue?
thx pav
yep got that word...keep forgetting to look in all directions...
ta5/10 (1st)?
how's everyone?
that's the one i'm after as well, pini
Great Pini, and you
not too bad
* sparklers *
Well done Pini!!!
hi everyone!
whoooo hooooo PINI!!
gort...ta5 = sunkissed + ** be or not ** be
Hi ibdawg
ta5 the Lone Ranger's sidekick...with a diff vowel
or what pav said ;)
hi fuzzy!
thanks pini and pav **mailing to usa box of gratitude bungers**
bungers?
Ibdawg, your Maxine cartoon is great!
**dodging arrest for mailing explosives** (bunger = firecracker you bounce on the ground to get more bang from your buck)
i just love Maxine. she's my role model
* giggle *
That's a new one for me.
cute!
i hate those "bungers" dont' know what they call them here but they are annoying!
I'm mising the first two pa5 12
pa + l*** meat
those bungers cause my cat to hide under the bed on the 4th.
pa5 (2nd) = add round vowel to pa4 before it
pa4.5 + vowel
well whaddayaknow, that fi** dog's name actually means a mis-minted coin
fireworks made both my dogs and I to hide in the basement!
Thanks gormold!
really? here they are banned, so of course, that makes them all the more desirable
fireworks make my dog slightly nervous...he runs around looking to see where the noise is coming from and then hides under the bed...
just because they are banned doesn't mean they aren't available. unfortunately.
ths pni!
yw pv3
imagine a 90 lbs, full sized doberman trying to be a lap dog!
best we can get is to fill toilet roll holders with a gazillion sparkler scrapings, set it alight, cross your heart, hope to live and then see how close you can get before a spark hits the eye
Living next door to NH, they are readily available here in ME.
oh no, lbd!
my big dog was a major woose. my little guy tried to take on a clydesdale!
odeah! my last three are the op's
can't have fireworks in the city limits, so everyone takes them over the county line...my neighborhood! we're county and only 5 houses from the city limits.
an no4/5 is a circumscribed mass of tissue; i'm guessing circumscribed does not mean "really pretty"
I had one incident in the car with Koda when I drove over a small amount of slush...he was in my lap before I could blink...now he has his own seatbelt in the backseat!
op's all have to do with not being transparent
*can't see through*
op's = slightly see through in color (like leggings or tights)
and I dreamt of them in my sleep....just rememebered..firewords!
whooooo hooooooo PAV!!!
well done pav
wtg pav ;)
Yippee PAV!!!!
cattle guards would send big boy into a frenzy! little one would dance around like his feet were on fire!
an sp4/5 is a scottish prophecy!
howdy all... on my last 17
hi dobie
hey jmb, i'm in a cluing mood; want some?
(phone)
I would like te 5/10, the second one please.
a ta5/10 is too much musical direction, which i imagine happens when the conductor conducts himself into a frenzy and overgesticulates with his conducting stick
down to 18
great clue!
add vowel to te4 before it
te = exam + first vowel
13 ...
tasks for staycation: switch bedrooms and contents therein; clean kitchen - yet again!; assemble electronics into useable configuration; bake; make mom's day din for friends; get hairs cut - cause one just will not do; take car in for oil change and anything else dealer can try to rip from me; ordered new cell phone to replace broken one - check!
Work sounds like it might be easier, lol!
lol pav, i was wondering which hairs would get the snip
and yes - I did some work from home...directing the repairs of staff phones, since peeps can't figure out how to in my absence...
and the poopies' hairs are all shortened for the summer
qu6,27 anyone?
add first vowel to qu5 before it
asussie airline
think AUssie airline
snap crossy!
hehe
what pav and crossie said, but adding a u and ditching the s
got it ty all
ok, taking poopies for their evening stroll...bbl for the flip! I really should do something on mytask list though...

just need an excuse to avoid pulling out an article I need to read...
aquae
when I was young, I read a lot of English books and desperately wanted yorkshire pudding, thinking it would be like a sweet custard. So mother made some for me one day. It was delicious, but not quite what I had expected!

yaa! a baby 2 bit!!!
WOO HOO!!!!! *starts boiling water and fluffing pillows*
doing our "farewell tour" of grownup restaurants this week - just back from Cheesecake Factory
are you both cleaning and rearranging constantly? I did, with both my kids, for a couple weeks ahead of time
Well, you'll get to go back to those places again soon enough... though at times it will seem like forever before you see the light at the end of the tunnel.
we did have a jag of that about a week ago - all seems ready now, except to pack the car
during the last 3 months of my wife carrying,i hid in the basement and made a crib
But you have critters, so it won't be a big shift in thinking for you.
crossy how neat! I looked at some cradle kits, but would have had to buy a scrollsaw and some other tools
you hid in the basement???
lol,you better do the farewell tour, cause with us it was 3 months later and the kid puked into my wifes entree
took forever dan
I ended up buying an unfinished kiddie rocking chair and painting it - still took forever :-)
*trying to remember what tom did aside from all the cooking because I couldn't stand the sight or smell of food-in-process*
9 left but time for bed tomorrow is another day...
i hid,stid..too many hormones going on upstairs lol
:-D I am glad you did that, dan! it will be such a wonderful thing when the baby is big enough to enjoy it. We still use the full-size rocking chair I painted when the older one was on the way
are you sure dobie? I am here to help...
What happened to the cross when your son outgrew it, cross?
oops. what happened to the CRIB?
my son destroyed the crib once he learned to stand by holding the rail and jumping up and down
We borrowed a crib for the first child, then just co-slept with the second.
oh no! that's too bad, cross.
kids!
we had a playpen for daytime naps and sequestering though
and he destroyed his first toddler bed
but the younger kid was walking at nine months, so he wasn't long in "crib" babyness.
the older kid was talking very early (around ten or eleven months with real words), and walked later... they sort of had reverse development!
my boy was slow crawling,so he used to "scoot" on hos back by pushing with his legs..he wore a bald spot on the back of his head
sounds like a child who didn't like to sleep? did that change as he hit adolescence?
oh no! *thinking of tonsured baby*
your wife must have been fit to be tied
now he is 16 and wont sleep till 2 and wont get up..cant get him to bed and cannot get him up lol
sounds about right, cross! their sleep cycles seem almost opposite mine (morning person)
i am a early bird also
the younger son will sort of get to bed by 10 or 11, but I know he stays awake reading a lot later than that most nights. I try to get to sleep between 9 and 10 myself, so I can get up at 6. Next year, I'll need to get up closer to 5 to get to the student teaching assignment.
the hard part then will be needing to drive home the 50 or so miles at "naptime"
0 left!
there is an idea going round the school system now to discuss moving the school day to start at 10 am to help these poor lost souls..i do not know when they expect a parent to work with that schedule!!!
the summer I worked swing shift as a motel clerk was brutal.
YAY fuzzybunny! (when did you go pro?)
and do you know that is a CAT in your icon, not a BUNNY?
tx, I went pro the day after I found this game, I liked it so much I wanted to support it.
Yes, that is a picture of my cat Woodrow.
lol fuzzy,i lasted 3 days before going pro
I think that would be an ideal thing for the older childre, cross. The first two class periods in the current student teaching assignment the children are still pretty much mentally asleep, so they don't get much out of the lessons -- and thsoe are remedial classes...
but my son is mentally asleep till noon!
yippee!!!! (((fuzzybunny))) good for you! It took me a little longer to go pro, but only because I had to wait for tom to have a paycheck.
well, at least he isn't trying to get up at 5 or 6 to get to school....
for him the perfect school schedule would run from 7 pm to 1 am lol
That's a normal teenage thing, Crossy. Actually noon is very early. surely your mean 2 or 3 pm?
I was fortunate to go to a high school without walls back in the '70's, and we did not start until 9:30am. Very civilized for the teen aged student.
oh! cross! Mother is in Quebec City now, and they went to a really old fortress-like place! and a museum. it's pretty there, apparently.
hey Jac
old quebec city is amazing stid!!!
but we can't see any pics yet because Mother hasn't installed picasa on her travel computer.
but i must go for now tc all and happy babbling..poof!
hi all
Stid, that is a beautiful fort, sadly they had a major fire there two years ago. I live 2 hours from QC and go their quite often.
the little auberge-like place they are staying in is close to the "sights" and she was pleased the room is in the back, away from the horsecarts! LOL
later cross! (((hugs)))
hey nrk!!
i can empathise with the teens, since my sleep interrupted by hot flushes, often extends now to midday.
I gt up and do stuff I'm epected to do.
need 7 to finish, but have hit a wall
I sleep well enough when I take my prescription, but find that when I don't I think I was asleep but don't habve energy in the day. I just went 6 weeks without taking it, and decided I need to start again...
can help nrk!
Which auberge are they staying at?
I wish I could go back on HRT again.
So far, the only hot flashes I get are in the daytime. I dress in layers.

YAY MPittore! WTG!!!
glad you're back, Nef
ty pini! ty Nef...gotta run much to do tonight...see ya on the flip! *poofy!
I need a bunch of A words please
an7 = an + do it ** once (now) + briefc***
an6 = same first 4 + ** be or not ** be
an4 = an + brit g'bye
an5 = an4 + 2nd vowel
shall I continue...or do need a specific?
WOW! All of those words and I still have 2 A's without any words! Keep going, Pini (if you don't mind)
an4 = poker stake
an5 = pl poker
ap4 = ap + **a to shinging **a
aq = H2O
aq5 = water + 2nd vowel
aq5 = pl water
as4 = a + ocean
at4 = a + I like to *** my fingernails on the counter
at5 = at4 + pl
at4 = pl consumed
at6 = swear (or at + exam)
that's all the A's
Wow Pini you are a champ! thanks
THANK YOU Pini! Weee! You are terrific!
(sorry for hogging the chog)

SHOOT! Sorry!
* giggle *
I'm sure the cabana boys will forgive you! :)
anything specific?
I hope there is dark choclit there. It's my B'day today and my son and his wife gave me some dark chocolates; *with probiotics*!!! (I think they might be some sort of a laxative; they are having that type of effect on me!)
happy birthday, nef!!!!
Thank you! :-)
oh no, nef!!!!
HB nef
I hope it "passes" quickly!!! :)
I don't think my son did it on purpose; but I wouldn't put it past the DIL!
* gasp *
thanks, weiik
Happy birthday Nef!
Have you ever heard of "Marmor Premium Dark Chocolate (with Probiotics (over 1 billion per box)"
not me
thanks Bugsaw
The box has a large circle on the front that says "ONE WEEK SUPPLY" in caps too!
over one billion choclits per box? with birthday candles????
hey all
no, but, I know I won't be picking it up of the shelf to try
hi stid
I think I'll avoid that brand, too ;)
are you feeling better pini? I forgot to ask when I saw you the last couple days! *bad friend look*
chocolit in my house doesn't last a day!
It tastes *really good* though. So I might forgive them
yes, stid...it passed (thankfully)!
choclits last a long time for me these days... I seem to be on a salty-peanuts kick instead! LOL
* can't ever be a bad friend * :)
glad you're better pini.
thx ;)
how about you Nef? is your husband doing better and thus you?
hi stid; no birthday candles; and this probably isn't the right KIND of choclits for the PB either
<-- btw, this is my younger child, with surprisingly amazing makeup...
* jots note to stid...please stock "good" chocolit's in the PB *
I think he looks great!
(and Koda's pawing to go out...brb)
Lucky is sitting outside the bathroom door while the elder stidkid gets ready for bed... he wants his bedtime treats!!!!
DH is doing better bit by bit, stid. He took me out (sort of) for my b'day this evening and could read the bigger words on the menu at least
*puts handmade local choclits from a lovely neighbor man (sells them at the farmer's market) in PB* these come in vegan varieties too...
that's marvelous, Nef! a romantic dinner for two (assuming menus mean "not mcd's")!
That is scarey makeup; did you ever expect your son to look like that?
That is scarey makeup; did you ever expect your son to look like that?
yep. dog is "dancing" into the kitchen to "show" stidkid where the treats are! LOL
LOL well.... I can't say that I did, but of course on stage with the lights on it washes out. Still, it was pretty amazing! He looked like one of the guys from that old band "Kiss"
we went to Red Lobster and have left overs for at least 2 days I think
he has pretty fair features, so without a lot of makeup only his mouth really shows
we used to go to red lobster a lot when I was a child in virginia -- one of our favorite "fancy" restaurants
the other stidkid was born with such impressive eyebrows --- very dark and thick like his father... he would need a bit of blush and not much else! but he doesn't act
wow. (He actually looks very good; but it would scare me to see my kid like that!) So grown up and --deviant?
rofl... "deviant R us?"
I think actors tend to be pretty comfortable with all sorts of looks. At least he is. And it turns out he has great comic timing and is a fine character actor... most of his other roles have been more supporting and straight-man type
LOL! :-D Well, the makeup brings out a different side of a person, doesn't it?
Hi stid!! Hugs to you and your handsome stidkid2!
I think he might have a future as one of those actors that everyone knows his face but not his name. Which, from an employment standpoint, might make the most sense
thanks bugs! you wouldn't believe the "groupies" he had on opening night! they were SWOONING!!!
that would be great, wouldn't it?
I would love for my children to be able to work in the fields where they derive the most enjoyment
My youngest loved theatre in high school. It helped him overcome extreme shyness and he learned to like the attention from the groupies
Still trying to help the elder one figure out best fit... he has some pretty unrealistic expectations for what his abilities are.
don't worry. There is lots of time
I was in a musical as a freshman, but then got busy with academics. I flubbed my first line -- the opening line of the show first night, but otherwise did pretty well and enjoyed myself
I only knew what I really didn't want to do first and whittled from there
I agree with Bugsaw.
I only just figured out what I want to be! LOL only took 25 years after high school, but ... there you go. Obviously being a mom had to take priority over "finding myself" for a while!
back
And I always knew what I wanted to do; so I don't understand how someone doesn't know what they want to do in life (it's an alien concept to me)
But yes, the stage experiences DO help a lot with being able to operate in a crowd. I know that singing has allowed me to grow as a speaker and performer.
WB, Pini
;)
I just had too many options, really -- first went to college to be an engineer, but had more interest in linguistics, but didn't have the money to pursue either really... so will be a teacher and get to do those things and the art and the history and the writing and the science... LOL
hey again pini. What are you going to be when YOU grow up?
I knew I wanted to be a mother more than anything else. It is a full time job if you do it right stid, and it sounds like you did.
* blink * what? I haven't grown up?
to be honest, I don't really know...
I think it would have been great to be a nurse, Nef -- but to be honest while blood and gore don't cause me trouble, people being in pain makes me so sad.
But being a mother was the one thing I never wanted to be... not that I am sad I am a mother! Just it wasn't anywhere in my plans. I think I would have made a much better "auntie"
You are one of the lucky ones Nef to have had a sense of direction all your life. I don't have a nursing bone in my body. I hate to see people sick.
I would have considered medicine. I don't mind looking at the internal stuff, just can't handle "getting there" (i.e., needle punctures, scalpels, etc.)
I love children, but it's the 24-hour "for the rest of your life" contract that is a bit daunting.
I've always liked arts/crafts, but never saw a career in either (at the time), but so much has changed...
hey! I've been an RN for 42 years and if someone starts retching or vomits; I end up puking with them! That has been one thing I've never been able to overcome
I just wanted to give my kids the nurturing I thot I deserved.
*wicked mama grin* but poking holes in my kids and washing out gravel from owies... that's FUN! rofl
stid!!!! ;-)
Once I was a mother, there was no question about it! I came home as soon as we could almost afford the loss of my income (once tom had health insurance) and never looked back. The years I spent with them when they were young and again when homeschooling were the best years of my life. So far...
Nef! I am shocked that a nurse could be a sympathy barfer like me!
I'm a sympathy hurler, too ;)
Those were the best years for me too stid. I loved doing things with them when they were little. They would do the weirdest stuff and then say, "But Mum it is very creative!" trying to get out of trouble. It usually worked
I am not a sympathy hurl-barfer, but I can sure understand why someone would. There are so many yucky things. But one just turns to and gets through it, I guess.
we all have our weaknesses. When my kids got sick; DH had to clean it up (even when our son puked from the upper bunk!)
rofl, kids have the BEST lines!
so, any more assistance needed?
I still have 54 words to go (I should shut up and shut off the chog if I'm serious about finishing
holler if you need help, Nef!
Well, I'll be around for a little while longer.
I'll go check my email and the news feeds and come back in a few. (((happy bday again Nef)))
ditto
Thanks for the chat, wishes and help, stid
How about the 4th row 1st column O then?

of6 = happens the mostest
WEIRD WORD!

The third o word is weirder Nef
that's the of6, right, bugs...
I thought so, too
how are you coming along, bugs...need anything?
(back) please clue it for me, Bugs
the op 6 7 8 are all related to "transparent"
I got the op 6 and 7 can't get the 8 yet
it's the mostest
superlative ,Nef
NM
thanks
rofl
(I need to take "grammar" lessons to give the proper terms.)
concepts are more important than terminology, pini.
* sigh of relief *
and you all give great clues, so there!
yep. if I were needing medical attention, I would want the surgeon to know what blood vessels to avoid, more than what they were called...
ROFL
"oh oh, I think I knicked the aorta..."
for me it would just be "oops, I think I nicked a line!"
Sorry I was out there. I went to make a cup of tea. Now I know why some people announce when they leave. I just thot I wouldn't be noticed.
hey bugs! of course we missed you... *wink*
It always helps if they DO know the names of the body part; especially when they have to dictate their procedures
let's see, the knee bone connected to the ... jaw bone? arm bone?
that's true Nef, I am being a little silly.
leg bone!
I do great at the game "Operation!"
YAY I just found my last word. It had to do with little people from an earlier conversation. for Pete's sake.....
wtg bugs!
YAY Bugs!!!
or how about "I dissected the thingy attached to the knee...."
YAY, BUGS!!! WTG!!!
I will email you stid in case you don't have my email address so I can keep i
... up with the plans.
*grin* that's right nef! "now hand me that needle and thread so I can tie them back together"
yeah, bugs...you coming, too???
that's a good idea -- or do I already have it from comments you left on the blog?
needle and thread? pass me the staple gun!
(I'm a good shot!)
I am comoing and hope to bring Flosey and Jilli too if they don't want to drive.
four Ns, four Ts, three Os, three As, and two Hs. No wonder this grid seemed weird.
YEAH!!!!
I hope everyone who can make it comes!
yes! BUGS iz comin'!
woot woot!
My passport is arriving any day now.
It is a pain to need one now
I should renew my passport...
<turning green with envy!>
cool! I hate having to have one, but to be honest, with the way my mother travels these days it's nice to have one "just in case"
come on out, Nef! :)
yes pini -- then you can come up to BC sometime with me!
It is easier to renew than to reapply when it runs out Pini. I let mine lapse
Will do, stid! :)
well come along, Nef! We'd love to have you here. Or... I am hoping to go EA4 next year after my graduation...
uh oh...mine lapsed so I'll have to reapply then :(
the sooner started, the sooner finished, pini -- it should only take a couple weeks if you have had one before.
You can come up this way and stay here too in the summer! It would be fun to show off where I live. It is a bit different from Jilli and flosey's island.
The only one I had was on my mother's passport when I was about five...
will have one before August then...(I hope)
yes, because you're on the big island! up the malahat, or near sydney?
"just in case"
yes, you should pini
sounds lovely, bugs ;)
I can't afford it. :-( And right now with the $$$ crunch and working for a non-profit; the vacation I'm planning for my nephews wedding in July is also possibly at stake
sure. I understand, Nef. But know that if a miracle happens you are always welcome.
on the big island, over the Malahat and half way up. Comox Valley
oooh. comox area is just gorgeous!
It would be fun if you could come Nef but family should come before Babblers
You are so well travelled stid
thanks for the kind offers
hello everyone :)
not really, I only know BC because of Jill and Flo (and Hetty and Mother)... and the only other places I have been were mostly because of my childhood.
I must go get set for tomorrow and to check emails. Good nite everyone. Sleep well
I don't actually like to travel.
nite bugs
NAN!!!! (((hugs))) have you been officially invited to the Babble meet here in Olympia in August?
I love to travel, just wish I could afford to
hi nan
sweet dreams Bugs! see you soon!
I like to travel but love coming home a lot too!
night bugs
poofing now
*watches Bugs poof*
night Bugs. Hi nan! How are you?
no I haven't stid
should I take that as an invite?
great, thanks nef
yes! please do. jmc and pini and many of the Island BC contingent are converging on Olympia on August 21 for a meetup!
of course!!!
Olympia? WA?
we're going to maybe get some of the Washington islanders, too!
yes, Olympia, WA.
(thx for the date, stid...couldn't remember exactly)
somewhere near Seattle, right?
south of Seattle by about an hour.
That's an 8 hour trip for us -- but will see what's happening in August.
:-D "coolness!" we'd love to see you.
Wow, nan! I didn't realize you were that far north!
not so far north, but east
OMG...stid...I'm checking out Amtrak...
...it's only $23 from here to you!
it is 4 hours from here to the Peace Arch crossing, then goodness knows how long a wait in line at the border.
yes! it comes through Yelm, and there is bus into Olympia, or I can just come by and get you. Since there isn't a bus to our area.
don't go to the Peach Arch. Go to the one just east of there in the farm country. much quicker usually.
I may take the train to Ptd and ride with jmc...but it's nice to know for future reference! :)
should cut at least an hour from your travel time.
oh, wait...$23 from Eug to Ptd...
still not bad...less than what it would cost to drive
checking Oly now
yes, in your truck especially, I bet you would not want to pay for all that gas.
but that would mean you can't bring koda
actually, it would cost the same in gas ($53 from here to you, 1-way)...and then Koda could come, too
I'll work on the idea with jmc...
so much for thinking out loud...
that's true! okay, let's think about how this will work. I bet I can borrow the unused kennel from our next door neighbors for koda (big chain link one) too!
I have a portable kennel...so he'll be covered.. ;)
big chain link kind?
(I can always find a sitter for him here, too)...
traveling with him might be a bit much
well there's time to think about it.
too true
Lucky's kind of a galoot -- has been playing with Oakley (a girl hunting dog... pointer I think) lately and races around our yards with her like a crazy guy
got any H word clues, please?
and then... he managed to tire HER out the last time, and she actually sat still for about 20 seconds! LOL
