:D
hi, jilli! :)
Oh dear. That's nearly sent me to the PB. :P
LOL, jc
chronic sinus infection??
you should have been sent quite a while ago JC
yup, and the bug is in the bones now
is the fever gone as long as you are on antibiotics?
did you make that up, JC?
can't remember now what the word was
No. It was courtesy of Laura...
Who didn't want to paste it in here, so I did.
cute, Laura ;)
reaonably, dee, temp. is lower. guess i'll have to resign myself to an antrum washot.
so sorry to hear that granny... will they do an IV... what is that?
I've posted worse...
Thank you Jill.
antrum washout, put you to sleep while they flush your sinuses with saline, pretty drastic.
aww a friend of mine had that and sinus surgery two summers ago.... she said she felt so much better (after everything healed)
I didn't make it up, just heard it somewhere.
love Limericks...
problem is i also have a deviated septum and bony spurs, ENT surgeon may want to fix that as well. not sure how i will cope with packs in my nose. have a very dicky gag reflex
maybe he can keep you doped for a few days until the packs come out
over halfway :) Now I can go to bed and recover from the hectic last three days :)
sooo. i haven't been in chog lately, feel pretty lousy most of the ti4.
sleep well jili
sweet dreams jilli - glad everything turned out so well
nite jilli
I should be heading off too, have to be up at 4:
Goodnight/morning/evening all! And *poof*

why so early?
aww... hope it is a fun day
thanks, jilli - prob. won't feel like it anyway?
no Dee
cataract surgery
is someone going with you?
yes, hubby will take me
You might indeed feel just fine as I did -- and regretted having a big lunch
I am sure it will go quickly and you will be glad it is all done!
oh yes, Dee, should have had it done couple of years ago
I put it off until dr. said ok, it's time
I can understand that
WTG flosey, mother mac nearly went blind because she procrastinated too long
Well, you'll be glad, flosey -- and now *repoof*
oh, thanks granny
All the best with that, flosey.
no, i'm saying, thank-goodness you didn't wait too long.
thanks JC - I had felt fine with it all until today, started getting a bit edgy
just anxious to get it over
It's done a lot now, flosey - with great success.
hang in there, flosey. it will be the best thing you ever did for yourself
my brother had it done a few years ago... in his 50s, couldn't believe how much better he saw after...
I know it will turn out perfectly, flosey
Yes. That's what I hear...
have several friends who've been through it - brother had both eyes done same time
then the other eye next month
not sure I would want to do both simultaneously... might be a bit blurry, but probably good to get it all over with
Your brother has three eyes?
he had his wife with him to drive him home
lol, JC, just realized why you said that, I will have the other eye done next month
and thanks for making me laugh, needed that
Ah, I see. ;)
aha, and I'll be seeing better!
you'll have to type us an "okey dokey" tomorrow night
I often think I could do with another pair of eyes - in the back of my head.
will do Dee
Oh is it today you're having it done?
(Tomorrow for you?)
that would be very handy JC - kids often believe moms have eyes in back of their heads
yes JC, tomorrow morning
very handy
Ah. Hope all goes perfectly - as I'm sure it will. ;)
ty JC, and thanks everyone
rest well, it will be over before you know it
thanks Dee
:~)
ah, just got ta6 and 7, not familiar with those words

it's le 9/10, which i see dee just mentioned
i was looking the other way and didn't think it worked
have never seen that before... LOL
you apparently weren't a lit major like me
architechtural term maybe?
often it's shortened to the last 5 letters
though it usually ends in f in my experience
agree... nope
for example flowers were a le9 in much of georgia o'keefe's paintings
good clue... here is dictionary.com def: 1. music a recurring short melodic phrase or theme used, esp in Wagnerian music dramas, to suggest a character, thing, etc 2. an often repeated word, phrase, image, or theme in a literary work
ah, German spelling of LE9
dun-dun-dun-Dunnnn is a le9 in beethoven's 5th

thanks dee, much appreciated, will be thinking tomorrow of everyone's kind words
bye Volley
I'll say a pray for you when I go to bed!!! Hugs! bye all

morning all
morning Sprite
hi donnab
Good morning, sprite.
morning Haz
had a bad night and decided to sleep in a little... then my girl came calling me: Mum, your mobile alarm went off... you have therapy this morning! Lol, and I thought tomorrow. I washed, brushed, dressed, printed a letter and drove to therapy... only one minute la4!
It's amazing what you can do when you have to and ti4 is pressing, isn't it?
absolutely! I still have this little smile on my face from having it made in ti4 against all odds :)
A triumph at the start of the day. That can't be bad.
nope, and I am rewarding myself with a nice, big babble grid.
Haz, finding a tm word right away... does that mean one babbles too often?
I think it's pretty much a clincher for a diagnosis, yes.
was afraid of that. Ok... out of the closet. I am a habitual babbler.
I had been suspecting as much.
it is that odd thing with coming out of the closet, isn't it. The only one who thinks it is news is the one doing the coming out.
It's quite interesting when new people come along to babble. They announce that they're finding it addictive as though it should come as a surprise to the rest of us.
*grin* Sometimes I warn. Sometimes I just act surprised.
i've already had the discussion with the S.O. about my babble routine
I know.
hi josh, and what was the outcome?
If you don't have the compulsion to find words then it's hard to understand those who do.
Hello again
hi sprite. i now have specific times when i do and do not pursue fireworks
Hello, lynxx.
hi lyn :) xxx
LOL talk about addictive, when g/dtr was here on the w/end she was disappointed to find Babble wasn't on til an hour later because of daylight saving. She a whole of 10 yrs old and loves helping me.
I do it when I can, and not when I cannot. It is so easy.
awwww so sweet, dizgrannie
it's easy on days when the grid is simply done within the allotted times
hi dizgrannie
Good for your granddaughter, diz.
hi lynxxx and everyone else
Haz, the nice thing is, we who have the compulsion to find words, are so very good in explaining why, how, when, what for, to what end, etc. Those who do not, can never keep up when we really start to argue.
it is good because it has helped her tremendously, she was a bit slow in reading and spelling and doing words games certainly help
I have a certain time when I list so I don't get trapped into wasting a whole day
I have seen that happen a lot, dizgrannie, both with children and with adults. It is amazing how much it helps.
That's great DizGrannie, making it fun has worked
well, it is easy to me because flip time is at 7 am here. I can easily fit in some babble session almost every day.
I know, I'd find it strange to be coming to a new grid in the afternoon/evening.
me too
most babble grids offer me a tune to sing through the day too. We had joy, we had fun...
It's nice, I can end my day with Babble and finish it in the morning before 9am
Yes, I suppose for the Aussies, you can go to bed knowing that the grid will still be there in the morning. Not so for the US and European contingent, we have to finish before we sleep (if we want to finish).
usually, the early morning is a busy ti4 here, with the kids going to school etc. Am glad we have one grid each day.
oh my favorite ample bosom word is back
And we're not talking Jordan.
definitely not
hello again
on phone
with cable
Hello, ruby.
on phone now, or just done?
Its pouring down here and the thunder has started again...Stew is very concerned but hasn't started shaking yet. Our dam levels are the best they have been for 5 years, seems like they will be even better after this week
Hi all. Goodness, words everywhere I look.
on....and I can't understand the menu!!!
Poor Stew! We had thunder and lightning here yesterday, and a house was struck by lightning in Co Down, very unusual for here.
Good going, Stew you hero. I hope the dams will hold, lyn.
hi Sally
Hello, Sally, it's a nice grid.
hi Sally, yes, richnesses in abundance!
that is good news about all the rain, lynxx
lovely grid
Can't type them in fast enough!
trying to get our satellite re-activated
and they charge for "hold"
Makes a nice change.
most do nowadays, rubyfoo
aaaarghh
we had seasons in the sun....goodmorning all
salsa
sorry, pb for me
hi Kallia, off to the sin bin with you, me gal :)
I hope there's no music in it
hi Kallia

what already?LOL haven't even looked at the grid
ty kalia, didn't see that
No, no, leave Kallia where she is. I didn't have those, have only just started.
coffee klatsch in pb
hehehe, well you already found a 6/7 combo without trying
great words
Yup. Only 7 so far :-)
I take it islam is capitalised
yep indeed...that's why you didn't finish the song!
I tried it, too, also islamite, semite, etc. none worked
hehehe indeed Kallia ;)
It's called entrapment, Kallia. You need to watch out!
fireworks
congrats josh!
gratz josh
yep bit a a sly gal our Sprite :)
Well done, josh. Your SO will be happy.
and within the allotted time no less
Congrats Josh!
lol
g'night everyone, the sun won't be too far behind me here
It is the evil sprite. Always giving helpful clues... but bound to trap you into PB behaviour.
Congrats Josh.
lots of funky new words (to me in this one)
wd josh
well please be gentle with me today :)
I might say Smith and Jones... but not sure people around here are old enough to benefit from that clue.
had traumatic dental surgery yesterday
Oh! I am ! ty sprite.
Oh, I'm old enough, sprite, and thanks for the memory! They were such fun.
argh Kallia, how awful!
they were, weren't they :)
oh dear Kallia, are you hurting?
yep old enough too
poor kalia!
Dental surgery is bad enough, but traumatic sounds nasty.
When I was between marriages <g> my surname was Jones, and I went out with a Smith, so you can guess what we were called.
nope, dosed up with strong painkillers
I hope they gave you lots of anaesthesia
21 teeth
too funny, sally
lol Sally, that is priceless
Oh poor Kallia.
didn't hurt a bit until I got home
argggggh Kallia, horror. Wise to take painkillers. Keep them up until this has healed.
Yes, those dentists know how to get you off the premises before you realise what they've done to you. A crafty lot.
indeed I will
otherwise you might have punched the dentist!
it is part of their education, Haz. GetThemOut 101.
I like the line: "you'll feel much better after this procedure". NOT!!
so I should have a PB pass...just cos I'm more dopey than usual
never dopey, but definitely a pb pass
well I did bite his finger twice lol
Kallia, you get a 100 PB passes right now. 21 teeth is something I cannot even think about.
We are all agreed on that Kallia. Mind you, you probably need the comfort of the goodies in the pb.
hahah
rofl Kallia!!
lol Kallia! Wtg!
don't think so sally...I can only look at them that would be worse!
*gets foodprocessor out to make Kallia a lovely smoothie.
he was lovely....amazing eyes and teeth lol
he was lovely....amazing eyes and teeth lol
he was lovely....amazing eyes and teeth lol
I just daydreamed
Kallia was obviously making full use of the hallucinogenics at the time.
oops not THAT amazing !
intensely, I'd say
I think that was the gas Kallia
no gas, just locals
ah ty Sprite, that was my breakfast
yvw, you deserved it... and more.
phantom: volati**
I've told DH that if he wants to eat the next few days he better get cooking
My phantom is "siesta".
better not combine yours and mine, I think, Sally
Kallia, you are really wise.
lol sprite.
best excuse I've ever had SAprite ;)
hehehe and make sure you work it for all it is worth!
of course, at least a week methinks
Must take a break. Don't go away!
21 teeth? A tooth a day. 3 weeks at least.
hurry back, Haz ;)
um I shall want to east before then!
later Haz
eat even
99 PB passes left
yep, of course you will. But he still can cook for you :D
phantom ending: -iest
even spelling mistakes are finding me words!
I see we are all spotty again
you mean you can see my pimple?!
LOL yep right on the end of your nose :)
darn!
pity about the phantom-iest because you could have had 'most like a large N American mammal'!! I like the word!!
me too! Hi Deeha :)
Hi folks. I have been averting my eyes from the chat because it has given me guilt feelings about how long it is since I HAVE SEEN MY DENTIST!!
hi Deeha
hi deeha
same here. Am scared of the dentist. And I mean scared. As in petrified beyond the capacity for rational thought.
sorry about the caps didnt notice I had hit the button!!
Well Deeha, I think seeing your dentist is a bit like seeing your doctor. They will always find something wrong you didn't know about, so why go!
etas
(free PB pass for those who can name the movie that quote is from)
98 to go Kallia
I used to work in an office over a dentist and the screams that came from that direction were bloodcurdling!!
oops
Do you all have clorine added to your water? We did years ago here, my kids 26 & 30 rarely go to the dentist
honestly it didn't hurt at all
My dentist insists on having Radio 1 (pop station for the non-UK) in the waiting room. I asked if it was to hide the screams, but they didn't seme to think that funny and said it was to protect patient confidentiality.
mine is not neglect, but its an inherited gum condition...
no we don't have it, people here are against it.
Yes we did too. My daughter who is 38 only has one small filling
I always turn it off, can't stand the station :-)
lol Sally, you rock
It makes an amazing difference Sprite. When I think of the pain and troubles I went thjrough
Leave well alone is my motto- they do now say dont go every six months- I have extended that by quite a long way!!
that a is in the wrong place...could have given a 10?11 if it was moved on diagonally
halfway through!!! Off to make a nice leek and potato soup...back later people.
oh send me some ot that donna
RIGHT - it is 10.30 here. about time I got dressed I think!!! Bye all see you later
...what is leek? I first read leak and was amazed...
bye Deeha, have a nice day
leek is a member of the onion family
it grows long
oh ok! Sounds lovely, could you give us the recipe one day, donna?
with green tops, not as strong
Leeks are lovely sprite, like a long thick onion which you can slice and cook, or add to casseroles. Can bake with cheese sauce.
Can you get them there sprite?
leek and potato is one of my favourite soups
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leek
http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/leek andpotatosoup_1920
But really it's a soup you can make up.
prei in dutch?
lol I found it, we have it here and it is called 'prei'.
thanks Sally, for the recipe too. Yes lyn, that is the dutch name.
And back.
wb Haz
Better go, the wind is now blowing the back door open!
wow, hard wind. Take care, lyn!
What DID you eat for dinner, lynxxx?
lol Haz
lol Haz!
I couldn't resist.
I am going a litle bit crazy. I finished with the TV problem and now I have to deal with the broken washing machine. What a morning! See you later
one of those days huh. Stay in bed, rubyfoo. Best you can do on such a day.
Bye, ruby. Keep plenty of towels handy for mopping up and don't let the dogs help.
Bye ruby. Watch what you do with those spanners. (Imagining ruby with sleeves rolled up, boiler suit on and lying on the floor complete with tool kit.)
bye Ruby
still, it is amazing what a broken washing machine can do, curing you to just a little bit crazy. I'd go bananas if I were you.
the dogs could probably do it better than I!
How old is the washing machine?
hahah sprite. BTW, John is gone, safely ensconces in a hotel in Monaco, looking at the sea!
Second one in 13 yrs
ensconced*
The older ones were built to last, newer ones have a shorter lifespan, unfortunately.
but the door is just jammed shut, probably a very simple fix but I hate to pay a repairman for a 2-minute job!
that's true
now I'll try to troubleshoot on line!
rubyfoo, first try pulling the plug and leaving it unplugged for a while. Then reset. See if you can put the program to zero.
I wonder if French workmen/tradesmen do that sharp intake of breath to signal 'This is tricky and is going to cost money.'?
mmm I think that is universal, Haz
It's probably the first thing the apprentices learn.
'Lads, purse your lips, sharp intake of breath while shaking your head'
'Rubbing chin or scratching head for extra drama.'
Bank loudly on the pipes with your spanner while looking worried. Looks as if you are doing something.
LOL conjures a picture Haz
funny how they may not all be good repair men, but every each one has mastered that part of the training.
BANG loudly, I made it sound as if they were flying.
off for a bit back later
bye for now, Kallia
Bye Kallia, hope your gums stay numb (in a good way)
By the sound of it, we all know the tricks of the tradesmen.
must take the thing I first took the leek for, and I seriously need a coffee. Back soon.
See you shortly, sprite.
back again. Now for the la4 part... let's see if it stays so sweet.
hello all. how many words today please
306, Sandra, good morning.
thanks
Hello, sandra.
found a tropical tree. Am amazed at myself for remembering!
Well what do you know. Just mistyped an E word starting with a different vowel and it took, and its plural.
hehehe I know the words you mean!
Not one I knew sprite, so a happy mistype!
the real biggies aren't even english today!
Biggest I have is 8 so far, but I believe you!
I am being literal.
hey sprite...everyone.....so what language are they then???
hi Ishult... German
I think it's the German rendition of the word.
so far found 2 8's but nothing bigger!!!
In English, normally the f finishes (the 9)
any clues for the 8's please
'Feelings, nothing more than feelings' for an e8.
Change the vowel at the beginning for another 8.
and use Sally's trick for a8
got those 2 also....nothing else
thanks for that
os8 - benign tumours
what is sally's trick???
just got it
ae8 - if it began with f, the word could be applied to a time in Edinburgh (and other places) when there are lots of shows and performances.
There's an ae 8/55, alt spelling of an es 7/40, to do with summer.
ty haz
ae8: the word for a public celebration, but not starting F but A
interesting, 3 different clues for the sa4 word.
el7 and el 8 put you in mind of stretchiness.
good news, I finally found a word that does use the superlative ending
thanks Haz for the os8x2
You're welcome.
btw, don't forget to drop the A from the ae... I always try that and it often works.
thanks for all these great clue, just need one more 8. got ae,am, el, em & 2x os8......what am i missing ( as well as the 9 & 10)???
The 9 and 10 begin with le.
Ishult, for the real biggies think a recurring theme in music.
Oh! ty sprite.
I've not got the other 8 yet, Ishult.
(Stupid spelling though)
yvw :)
it is the original spelling.
Le8: the best dressed tree
le8 - looks like a description of a tree in full greenness.
Or, the person most prone to go away.
hehehe nice one
Well, well, it worked. ty again.
just got the 9 & 10.......strange words!!!
Must go for a bit. Back later.
Bye, Sally.
all the big words done, but I still need over 100 words.......not enjoying this one!!!
bye Sally *hugss*
am having a ball, I have to admit. Pecking away at the last words now. Some are new to me.

It is lovely

We've been to NZ with a company called Active New Zealand. They do a Tasmania trip.
You have been to Australia Bichon?
No, of course we'd love to. We spend a lot of time going to the Bay Area of CA to see children and grandchildren. Not that I regret that, but it does cut into our world explorations
I was thinking you could go down from Queensland right down the East Coast and finish in Tasmania. You are going to watch the Oprah Australia thing - should give you a glimpse of what is 'available'
Oprah Australia?
She announced a few weeks ago that she was taking the entire audience to Austrlia !!! (deal done with Australian tourism. 300 American ladies coming...will split into 3 groups exploring 3 different eastern states
think it is happening Nov or Dec
sounds yummy. I'd really like to visit Queensland and of course the Great Barrier Reef [while it still exists]

Good Morning everyone
Just mix up the condiment letters

Boo - le+ not he or she but ** + the reason for a crime without the ending vowel
we had a bit of an adventure yesterday. one of our cats, Duchess, had to go to the vet for a follow up visit afer she was treated for bladder stones last month. So my husband took her in, and they did everything she needed. We have a credit card specifically for vet care, and we paid off the entire balance from the first visit, so we thought we wree fine. But when my husband went to pay for the visit yesterday, we were told there is a minimum balance on the card that has to be met for it to be used to pay a bill. Turns out, the minimum balance is $350, and the maximum limit on the card is $500. And the vet clinic said no, they could not charge for the next visit in six weeks.
I usually spell that le9 with an f where the v is
for the le9 it gave me an error message.
Angel, that's too bad. It can be expensive to be a pet owner.
yes, Molly....but it's really not much different than going to the hospital or doctor myself. We strongly believe in taking good care of alll three of our cats. They are members of our family, and they trust us to take care of them.
absolutley Angel! However that card hardly seems worthwhile is you must have min. balance and the max is only 150 more than the min.
I think i would just get a visa or discover or whatever to use only for that purpose. You can more or less set it up with a limit that suits your needs
the minimum is half the maximum limit, still not really a good deal. I'm going to call the company today. the clinic staff told us if enough of their clients complain, something may change. I'm at least going to go on record.
is there an interest rate on it Angel?
no interest at all if the balance is paid off within six months
Good for you Angel, for taking good care of your pets. There are so many people who don't. Your pets are lucky to be in your family.
the tecnician who worked with Duchess yesterday said one only has to look into her eyes to see tat she knows she is loved and cared for.
middle letter in bottom row is missing? just me?

not too personal -- don't know the answer i will read up on war child and brb

my question really is ... what would you recommend to a high school senior as an undergraduate field of study if they were interested in that line of work?

i was a chinese history major
thanks
i can see i am going to be listing sooner rather than later
anyone have a clue for the ae 8?
the nice thing about ae words is that once you've got them, you've also got an e word - or of course if you're sensible your try all the e words you've got as ae words! But I never think of that.
its like a big public party but with an A instead of the F
It is similar to hibernating, with an adjective ending
good advice helens
Great clue jmc - nobody will get mine at all!
done! that wasn't too bad
i am still trying to understand your clue -- is there more than one ae8?
whoo hoo phae

IIIIIIII love them little mouses. Its mouses that I eats. I bites their little heads off and I nibbles at their feets!
sorry the grid got me going again!
any1 got clues for the i in the middle row
hi all
to es7 or ae8 is a less physiologically complete form of hibernation - animals that do this wake more easily and are often awake at intervals through the season. It's a little more likely to occur in drought seasons than cold, if I remember rightly, but does occur in cold as well. And forgive the mucking with the grammar, but writing that for an adjective was beyond me this morning!
hi mar
Hello...
hi jellen
when a boy and girl dated when i was in HS we called them an it4/5
but ya gotta watch out for that hospital help ... they told my wife she was supposed to hold the kid like a football ... so on the second day home my wife fumbles the kid in the bath tub ... the kid is twenty three next week and still hasn't forgiven her mother ...

crossy, the le8 isn't related to the le9 and 10. Think of the greenest a tree can be, but use another consonant instead of f.

lots of weird words
i like weird, but not WACK
some of them seem like wack
oh no... lots of weird i need help then
Can I have a clue for the second le6,18? The one after the 10.
deep groove, often found in the brain
ty lbd
Like I said, lots of medical terms
hi all
hi jmc
hi je
i just might not finish tonite
there are about a million little fishes swimming in between the weird words
Evening all. May I please have a clue for le8-55? Thanks
it has been a very very tough day at work, polished off with a nice botttle of wine with a friend and then to find out that a dear friend's beoved uncle is dying and we were going to visit him on sunday. we didn't have the chance to say goodbye. and i need to pick hi m up from the train (dear friend, not the uncle) in half an hour
the one who goes out the door the most?
le8.55 has to do with trees with the most of the green things on it
or rhymes with the one that weighs the most
oh how sad dorens
Or change the first letter of the most weighty.
sorry about your day dorens
i'm sorry to hear that, dorens
yup. you guys don't know the story... have hooked up with my true love (dear friend) who has been through a lot and it is a long long story. but we are trying once again to make it work
Thanks much, lbdawger and jmc.
NO! how cool dorens!
yw peach
well, i hope it works out for you,
je, you'll probably meet him on oct 30. he is coming with me to stewart/colbert shindig
and hi peach
i am so excited
Thank you too, Dorens.
thanks dawg.
we will see if he passes the babbleland test ;-)
well he is supportive of my babble and not jealous of it, but he is not a babbler (good at sudoku however)
Does he Babble Dorens?
the 2nd te 5/10?
as long as he is supportive!
the most, je!
he most def does not wht!
te + do re me fa so ** ... + vowel
nm found it
anyone have the am7
ty tho
am4/5?
Latin plural of the te4 before it, cos
as long as he allows you babble time, dorens, he's got a few extra points there!
a+movement
YIKES! that's a word?
am4/5 is french friend
am + two vowels, jmc
ty lbd
I second that e7 Dorens.
i mean thanks je
smokey!
lol i understood YIKES! to be ty
Hello, I have returned...
wb jell
j, were you drinking our wine?
wb, jellen
hi jell
Did I scan something about true love while I was on the phone?
the 4th te 5/10?
yes yes yes!
dorens is telling us a romance story
Ooh, romance and Dorens! How exciting!
would someone clue for the nine hundreth time the el7
oh it is such a long story. i fell in love with him in 1992.. sheer animal magnetism
ooh my favorite
te5.10 like the one above it but two differnt vowels
jmc - think of stretchy pants
he was a security guard in my school in east orange. so not right for me
just change a letter at the near end
e + not first + not out
like the end, not the near end
Like what some waistbands have but with a different last letter.
ty all i've been trying all day
go on dorens
well, he had a lot of issues (being a black man from e ast orange nj. fighting his demons)
and being the dumb nice, rosy glassed suburban guidance counselor, i really didn't see what i didn't want to see (love being blind and all)
te 6/18?
so we tried to make it work, and i stubbornly and persistently tried to combat something i couldn't deal with (substance abuse)
add not off to the 4 above it, cos
Stop asking for clues...It's story time!
Just kidding ;-)
lol ty lbd and sorry jell :)
so i finally had to leave him, tho i loved him. and we've been friends over the years, and he has now had 6 years being a very dedicated NA/AA person, sponsoring others, being dedicated to working a program, etc. and we did finally get back together and it's been several months and going quite well.
YAY!
Aww....I'm so happy for you, Dorens!
(I love happy endings)
squeeee!
hi, babblers! i couldn't have picked a better time to come in ... good news is terrific!! WTG Dorens!
thats a great story dorens! ( i can relate with dealing with being someone involbed with substance abuse - its great he worked through that)
hi welki
Hi, welki
just like johnny cash and june carter!
tm6 is a weird word
well of course, it is a life long battle. and my cross to bear is that my kids don't really like the idea. they used to like him, but they got sick of it, and now don't trust that he could be ok. and y'all know how important my kids are to me.. so right now it is kind of bittersweet, but i'm hoping it will work out eventually with them
....i hear that train a'comin
well you can understand that they don't want you or themselves to get hurt again
i got a lot of flak from being with him due to what we had to go through but i dont regret it since it worked out in the end
they need to build trust with him. it will take time, but if he's in love with you...
give them time for him to regain their trust
i do understand it, j, i really do
it's hard for them to understand. they really don't get the sense of forgiveness.. they were young and they were hurt and they saw me hurting and can't forget that... i just hope eventually they can trust that i'm not a complete moron
that's great, cos
but what a great turn around for what was a really terrible year for you-- lost job, got job, alone and now together!
i doubt my kids will ever think anything but that i'm a complete moron :)
we'll hvave to talk sometime cos
my boy made it QUITE clear today that i am a moron
lol welki. i think that's just part of parent job description
you just tell him that he's got at least 50% of your DNA, jm
the funny thing is that he was here at my house the day ken broke up with me .. working in my yard, and i told him, i'm sure you'll be happy .. ken and i are no longer together
lol well he thinks he got all the good stuff from his dad and the bad stuff from me
hello
so he said, no, why would i be glad to hear that? i jsut want you to be happy, and i thought you were happy with me. well, of course, you know what happened the next day
te6/18 & 7/28?
I think that one of the major functions of children is to constantly remind their parents that they are morons.
hi minski
oh j, he can't really think that
Hi, Minski
indeed wht
well just like one of my romance novels dorens!
10 left!
i really should write the story someday j
add not off to the te4 above and plural, minski
depends on the day dorens! lol
go cosd
boyhowdy .... i'm wondering if i do know what happened next, or if we should just fill in the blanks *woot!*
Yay for having no children! I can be oblivious to my moronic status!
go cos!
lol jell
LOL wht. I just told my 5 year old yesterday that I plan on living long enough to enjoy giving all the crap back to her someday.
oh its very racy in MY version for dorens!
uhm, jellen .. not a day goes by that i don't prove it to myself (that i'm a moron) LOL
well j, you and monkey may meet louie on oct 30 and i'm curious to see what you think.
i look forward to it
jell, i'l lend you a kid or two, i'm sure they'll be happy for the trade right now
that's why there are grandchildren. you get to tell them what idiot things their parents did!
another babble-meet? youse guys are so lucky
May I please have a clue for te7-32? Thanks
so what was the clue for the le6 after the 10?
thanks lbd. got them both.
dorens is coming for the cobert/stewart rallies
le 6 is a sore
a sore
duh!
te7 = 4 pm in England
grooves often related to the brain, jmc
mi 5/14, please?
te7 .. it's not coffee o'clock, it's te*****
ty minsk
te7.32 drink + clock
see the grooves in the brain never did it for me
haha welki
at7?
cat sound, jellen .. that weird spelling
but the sore was spot on ty jell and dorens
Thanks, welki
mi5.14 cat sound mi plus vowels
Thanks much, welki and lbdawger.
mi5.14 cat sound mi plus vowels
at7=consume food+anagram of white spread made from oil lemon and egg
how many people have asked if that's a pic of the inside of your cupboard, jmc? (it's always jd time)
consumed + anagram of famous hospital in rochester, MN ****naise
Thanks, lbd
great clue thanks jmc
and lbd
lol you are only the second one to mention it welki
i was disappointed
hah!
you like my icon too dorens?
the 2nd to 4/5?
i'm not a hard likker drinker, but the thought that it is the inside of your cupboard, that did make me smile
rhymes with romper ro**,
it isn't you know -- my reputation is greatly exaggerated -- principally by me

DOREN!!! *waves at all*
mi5/14?
hi stiddie
4th va 5/16?
Doren, do you have a moment for student-teacher hand-holding?
Hi, stid!
hey stidders... how goes the teach?
hi again, stid!
va + my gal ***
stid, now you know you are just the best dam student teacher i've ever seen, don't you?
hey jellen! I was thinking about you today! It was a lovely, sunny day, perfect for early autumn. For some reason, it made me think of you -- happy thoughts.
and middle school kids will try you till the cows come home
rofl... doren, I have a parent who takes issue with the unit that I have planned and started teaching... *sigh*
they spend their whole nights thinking about how to make you cry
fireworks
my cooperating teacher is supporting me whole-heartedly...
Yay for cos!!!!
whoo hoo cosd
YAY cos!!!
I LOVE the kids, actually! LOL
whooo hooooo COS
they only act up when I am not prepared, and haven't considered how to stay ahead of their very active needs.
Thanks, stid...today wasn't a bad day at all!
oh parents, jeez parents weren't an issue forty years ago, thank god
they have become so difficult now tho
anyway... having been "one of those parents" a couple times, looking for a piece of perspective.
goodness what are you teaching? evolution or something crackbrained like that?
*looks at pinched shoe on stiddies foot*
i did teach evolution in east orange twenty years ago.. it went fine until one parent had a probelm.. oh lordy
From the reaction I got (note, this is one parent out of 100 or so students) it could have been. *sigh* BUT I know that I am aligned with state standards so on solid ground there. I can also pull out the chapter in the school's textbook that addresses the exact same sort of literature.
and pbs had just done a program on chimpanzees, and my son had been in the kibale rain forest studying chimps the summer before, and they interviewed the folks he'd worked with, and i showed it to the kdis....so cool
first oa5/10?
think desert, jmc
not a desert "island" is it?
stid what was the unit on? and if you're supervising teacher is backing you up you have no probelmeo
wow. that sounds like a really cool thing to share actually, doren.
ty lbd abd stiddie
folklore, doren -- how cultures use stories to teach. In terms of literary daring, this ain't!
oh it really was, stid. a fabulous unit
so what is mama's problem then?
and it has only just started. I have "plans" for the kiddos... BIG month-long project.
so you told them the bible was folklore? ;-)
It's not only about reading and writing. I expect the children to engage listening, visual and speaking literacies as well.
NOPE. Never would, jmc...
sounds great stid, really interesting stuff
of course not
<==keeping smart mouth shut now
nah, you can't do that je
I guess my concern is, I have been in her shoes --- now that I am the teacher, how do I stay professional and stand up for the unit which has such potential while also allaying concerns?
*sitting on hands*
from here that sounds simple stid
tell her what the goals of the unit are. what your expectations of the lessons are and let her ask her questions, stid.
talk to the mom, and explain
yeah, what dawg said
I have the ultimate (and true) cop-outs which are that this unit was approved by my college supervisor and my supervising teacher.... I also can say that some of the more creative aspects are required by the college (multicultural, interdisciplinary pieces)
Thanks LBD.
and what is the mom's problem, exactly?
didn't see you there I think... my screen is biggie-sized this time of day! LOL
I would think that listening to her to find out what her concerns are couldn't hurt, remembering that her real concerns may not be the ones she mentions.
not completely sure.
i wouldn't go in defensive, just give your facts.
that's what I am thinking, wht!
Fact-based is what I plan, for sure.
you are on solid ground, truly
oh, Tom is home.
He doesn't know.
va 5/16, the third?
you could ask her what her concerns are
thanks doren. I think I am, my cooperating teacher says I am, too.
there are some crazy moms out there... hopefully she isn't one, but if she is you will learn to deal with that reality
and now that you-all agree also, I think I feel better.
va + my gal ***
rhymes with what a lie is, jellen
I don't think she is -- she is concerned for her child. I completely get that.
yay, babble conquers allQ
LOL doren!
was supposed to be all!
Thanks, Dorens...that was it!
A clue for the te7,32 for fireworks, please.
*group chest bump*
!fireworks!
so, i went today to visit my 13 year old (barely 13) who gave birth to a child last thursday. she was home alone while her mom was at work. and dyfs (child protective services) allowed that to happen
what the brits have at 5 wht
drink + clock, wht
anyway, now off to play with the seating charts. My teach has said I may try to put the kids in different order and then she will help me make adjustments. I want to get the room arranged so the kids who have trouble are not all lumped together... first arrangement was random. Some combos I don't really like.
ty jmc and lbd.
home alone with the infant. and she is my student
oh gee, doren. how is the child? *worried look* that's so very young
whoooo hooooo jellen!
YAY jellen!
very very very young. and she is an emotional mess
oh so how is she doing and when is the hearing on pa?
poor child.
geez, i hope dfs is made aware of that situation, dorens
even physically -- that plays havoc with a still-developing body.
pa will live and die in jail, if not deported. she is doing well physically , but such mixed feelings.
arent there social services to help new moms?
i was on the phone with dyfs and that is how i found out she was home alone with the baby
I am aghast at all this.
babies having babies...
yes i had a daughter of a beneficiary . . .hard to explain relation. . . with same story
well, I will keep her in my thoughts, doren. Hope I can check in with you-all again this week. I think I have some "free time" coming up in the next week.
they are putting services into place.. it takes time, and they will be there next week..... so why on earth is the baby home with her before they have them in place?
((jill)) I have to head out. *blows kisses and gently poofs into the ether*
hi jilli
Bye, stid
bye stid
Hi, jilli
night, stid
she should still be at hospital but they rush you out these days
bye stiddie
bye stid -- you'll cope brilliantly
they should have let her go home if she was ready, but kept the baby in hospital until they had a real plan. this is just insane
but that poor kid...
your right dorens
or, I should say, those poor kids.
i sure hope they get her some help. poor kid indeed
my superintendent called up dyfs and yelled at them
good for your super!
the supervisor had the nerve to tell them there were services in place in the home, he said my guidance counselor is sitting right here and she just left the home, the girl is alone. egg on their face!
and good for you!
i will go tomorrow to find out if they rushed someone in , as they said they would.
you keep them honest dorens!
just imagine if this girl, who is not sure how she feels about the baby, does something crazy. imagine if that baby cried and cried instead of being easy and sleeping (as she seems to do a lot of, thank God)
unfortunately i do not have to imagine much dorens
LE 8/55?
i remember, my first son who was planned for and really wanted... when he wsa colicky and difficult i was so frustrated.. and i was 24, a certified teacher married to a doctor. this kid got pregnant at 12 by a much older family member, didn't even know she was pregnant until she was in labor!
ta6/21 that is not the most domesticated?
rhymes with he8 =fattest
le 8 = rhymes with the most weighty

up here it is so bad ,we are fighting college and univ grads just to get 2 or 3 mcjobs to cover the bills, many tech and white collar places or going to 4 day weeks or work sharing and spaces are tighgt
going thru this grid, lunking kinda fits
damn typos
hi lbd, circe, weiik, and all Congrats on the FW, MP,
I agree lbd. I won't finish...114 left
MP, and each job here gets hundreds, if not thousands of applicants. Job market here bites
nasty here as well dc
well, folks I'm off to look at circe suggestion, thanks for help and advice, ibd, i've done the gov jobs, havn't hit on anything solid, but, have had some bites .. bye all .. poof
dc, how are you, any action in the job market yet?
hasta, weiik
evening, all
night weiik
hi, dc
wait a minute isn't lunking an olympic sport???
weeiik, i've had 3 interviews on 70 applications, no offers yet
i know many my age like me with management and other white collar qualifications, delivering paper bundles to stores in the morn, doing 4 hours at a conveinience store in the mid day and 4 hours pumping gas to get a full pay .3 jobs in 1 day...it sucks
some friedns and i are working to found a company in order to have jobs
dc, what is your background? I applied to a union shop there ..
hi dc and crossy
15 years in technical support
cros, that sounds desperate .. I'll probably be doing the same
if nothing else the delivery companies will be hiring up for the holidays....FedEx is a superb company to work for
dc, have you tried csc, i used to work there
and i speak spanish as well as english
i have apps in at csc and many, many others
tried the world bank? that was one of our clients when i was there
so far, my best luck has been with US DOT
IADB and WB are both hard to get into, but i'll look at both again :)
i helps if you iknow someone ont he inside, but, that isn't always the case
it is the going thing here now, delivering paper bundles are a coveted slot cause you can get it done from 5 am to 8 am which leaves time for a mid day 4 hour shift so you can squeeze a 3rd 4 hour shift in in the evening'
so 11 hour days
cannot figure out the last os 8
then you can get sort of close to your old pay..sort of...
hey cross, 11 hours are betther than 0 hours
I can't even get a landscaping job here ...
it drains you after a while..but yes, zero hours suck
samm...a new body opening when the old one goes kaflooouy
os + male cat + t***, things that men wear around their necks
sammysmom, it's a medical word for artificial way to eliminate waste from the body after cancer
ty lbd
i have the 7/32 .. 8/45.. it is the last one that i am stuck on
WOOT! Yankees just walked in a run and bases loaded!
nef not only cancer my dad had peritonitis and they did a temp one to save his life...he called it a bnus since he already had an anus...LOL
nite all, thxks for the clues, off to the job boards poof
g'night weiik
Cute, MP! Yeah, I know that they can be temporary
night, weiik
good luck weiik they are building some new huge gov't bldg in Alexandria so gov't may be a good one
Good night and good luck, weiik!
got it.. thanks
That building, with others at Arlington and Ft Belvoir are due to BARC, though some won't commute to new location, so som jobs will open up.
My son is an electrician for Truland and that's where he is working says it is huge
yes, electric, plumbing, and such trades are doing alright, even picking up a bit at this point :)
problem with govt jobs here,is they mostly hire from within.by law they have to put the spot in a newspaper(most likely otomwa iowa times) then the spot just goes to a brother, sister or some family member
and contstrution, with metro line, beltway widening, and 95 widening, and ICC being built
thank god he has 3 kids one 3 and twins 16 mths old
yes dc it's a mess around the roads here lately...
I retired at 55 from NIH in 2003 and my husband retired from Truland in 2005 so we are so lucky to have pensions and benefits...we do ok
he's six years older than I but still he was only 62...I wish he would have worked until 65 because our benefits would have REALLY been good but my job was contracted out so I had no choice really.
Hello again...
howdy jellen;)
hi Jellen
lol..aaah ,to make it to pension age.cancer is so prevelant in our family that my father is the first person in our family tree to ever make it to the age of 65.he has had cancer 3 times and i have had cancer 3 times..govt retirement benefits are a dream within a dream lol
thank god for advances in treatments;)
you keep a great perspective crossy. i admire that!
that's so true, crossy
you cannot sweat the small stuff GE
cancer 3 times...small stuff?!? god bless you!
seminoma.lymphnoma and melinoma... all a day in the life..though the lymphnoma treatment had a wonderfull weight loss effect lol
just in case,i have made arrangements with a dirty old man to hit on my wife for me if i should pass the next time;0
Hi, Nef...turned on the TV to watch the Yankees since you mentioned it...
elegant deserves more than a dirty old man. shame on you :)
she does indeed GE,she is the rock i lean on when i falter...
crosyy! Be nice to her! It shouldn't be a "dirty old man;" it should be someone better!
lol,i stand corrected nef
Jellen, I have to NOT watch now. Twins are trailing 6- 4, :-(
BRB
Oh, sorry...My brother and nephews are big Yankee fans...
i have already discussed with her.if she is left alone to not mourn to excess,to remember the good times, our laughter, our love, and to love our son who is the best of what we are.and to love life.... and that i will wait for her in the glade at the end of the path and to not hurry.just to enjoy life to the fullest.to always remember that my love will be with her forever
