we have a "problem cat" who hangs out under our bird feeder and the dogs don't run her off. There is a colony of little mice there, too, and I saw her nab one and run off with it.
there is a wildlife park here which had a pack of wolves, when the alpha male died the others were fighting to assert themselves and allegedly the owner had them all destroyed because it was upsetting the tourists, now they have alone female
I would just be happy if someone could come up with a way of keeping the deer out of my garden.
