I use the chat first; try to finish all the big ones (9; 8; 7) now I only have 4's, 5's, and 6's left, so it makes my options a bit less... I still have 45 to go though and I am coming to a halt LOL

ty
back
hello dizgrannie
hi crystalle
Morning ruby.
Hi ruby, FM :o)
gd morning, FM and Dfm!
Hi dfm, you are well and truly hooked aren't you?
fast beginning for this grid but it will probably peter out soon
dfm is great at this!
how is your weather FM?
<-- has been playing for ~7 years, has had an account for ~5 years ;oP
very nice ruby, mild ish and sunny so far but a cold snap is coming.
oh yes, sorry forgot that small fact dfm.
ooh, phantom nigiri... <-- is hungry for sushi... again...
ahah, dfm. I miss sushi likfe crazy!
"miss"? o.o
there's only one sushi place in our town and it's awful
ah; that does suck. :o(
when I lived in NY or Miami, or traveled to other places for work, there were always wonderful sushi bars
The price we pay for rural living ruby.
can't even buy sake!
50 to go, and there are still words in the chog that I don't have! :oO
true true
aww, you live rural? *jealous*
but I can't grow my own sushi!
although, given my choice of major, I wouldn't be able to survive rural :o(
I';ve not long started the gird so have a long way to go.
what is your major, dfm?
CS + Pure Maths
Where I live it is not unusual to see a tractor parked outside the bank whilst it's driver get money out of the ATM.
perfect for Annecy raofl!
I think that here, half the people can't read!
:)
I did pure and applied maths and economics as a mature student way back when. v v hard trying to cram a 2 year course into 1.
I'm trying to double major... :oS Out of 30 required courses for CS and 29 for PMath, the overlap is exactly six courses.
wow!
I am very impressed!
hey soodle is in the grid but unfortunately not valid.
ended up getting in a paperwork fight with my advisors last semester because they wouldn't let me take two extra courses... didn't get it approved so I'm behind now :o( maybe should have tried to compromise for one...
she's valid in my shtetl!
:oO soodle IS in the grid! (minus the 'bum' part...)
lol
but I thought oodles was a word! not for enable
best word so far, he6/27 (not the longest, but the most interesting.....)
for me it's a co7, the one with the five vowels in a row... already knew the he6/27
still working backwards so am on the s's but have just found 2 x 8 (well my monkeys did)
looking for the co.....
nice monkeys
o.o I think the entire list is in the chog...
got the co with all the vowels!
wtg ruby!
:D
done with chog and I have only 30 to go o.o
is there a co word with 5 vowels one after the other or with consonents in between them
10am and time for me to make some phone calls. TTFN and Happy Babbling.
5 vowels in a row :oO
hi crys :o)
cooeeing
bye FM
soorry
I don't have the patience to read through the LONG chog!
PB, crys... you've had enough strikes! ;oP
any clue for the 9?
Ruby, the 9 comes off ca 7...think comic TV...eg Bugs Bunny etc
ty diz, got the 7 and 8 right away, now looking for the 9.....
got it! thank you
past tense, Ruby
that gave me 5 words! you are a darling, diz
gawd I am luverly...LOL
one more for half!
yay, half
freebee for lurkers: co8/55 is gerund ending of aussie bush call
that's the one with five vowels in a row! :oO
yup
you can have oodles, but not one oodle...as Alice in wonderland would say, curiouser and curiouser
20 to go, gonna finish tomorrow... goodni5 all :o)
cheerio dfm
morning all
hey there sprite, how's yur life?
still frustrating and unbalanced, but going in the right direction. How is yours?
mines dodgy in bits but mostly glorious. what's frustrating and unbalancing you?
Hello Sprite and Gort
health and energy levels. And PITA parents. But on the other hand: lovely hushand, kids and dog... not complaining about life!
hi lyn :) xxx
heya lynx, nice to "see" u
ditto Gort
i could say exactly the same, sprite, but substitute dog for foster son
what's a pita parent?
pain in the arse
ahhh, your own pita parents?
yep. Wanna buy? They come cheap, lol.
that's an extraordinary offer, would you like to swap for my own...um..eccentric parents?
this is a lovely grid! Always so rewarding, the gerund ending.
*grins* It is worth a try!
i agree. have you stuck it on the end of the aussie bush call yet?
(the gerund, not your pita parents)
yes, I did
how is life today for you, lyn?
and how is Stew?
hey lynx, i'm in torquay at the moment; isn't that somewhere near you?
Good. New couch arrived - my 'smaller' sofa which so is NOT. Now everything else looks dwarfed
or have i got the wrong end of the continent?
big sofas are wonderful. Gratz on the new arrival :)
Soaking up some sun Gort? I'm in Elwood/St Kilda up near Melbourne
well we arrived in what i thought was an arctic blizzard, but which locals tell me was a summer zephyr, but i'm adjusting (i'm a qlder)
Must have been Friday, that southerly was freezing
Tumbling into the chog in a state of high excitement.....I'M IN THE GRID!!!!!!
so you are! It was close, last weekl, but now you are fully there :D
and yet still not valid. Hello anyway Soodle
Just minus my bum, but thats OK!!!
nice one sood, lynx, it's outrageously beautiful here but i've had the lecky blanky and 2 doonas on!
you may want to keep your bum private anyway
why are you down here Soodle?
do you mean why am i down here gort?
Pay attention, Lynn!!!
yes - sorry - it's been a long day
Aye, there's a wake up call. Soodle has lost her bum.
lyn just loves you just the same
I could easily do with losing half of it......
left or right half?
the hubby and i have brought a team of our uni studnets as street chaplains to the schoolies
lol Sprite - was just thinking the same
A couple of slices of each cheek wouldn't be missed.....
couldn't resist, lol
stud-nets? they wish...students
I think you should be able to have one oodle.
lol Gort. Good luck with all that!
Hello, All :-)
thanks lyn, it's actually going really well, despite the dire reports you might hear in the papers
hi Zooz
hey zoom
hi zooz :)
hello friends. anyone else lock themselves out of the house at 5:30 this morning? just me then?
Hi silly Trif
(((((((((((((Trif)))))))))))))) Wat a rotten way to start your day, hun.
there's a reason it's called a God-forsaken hour, trif
Oh no, Tif, not good ;-(
well, when the dogs gotta pee, they gotta pee.
yeah. Bad timing by the dog though. Did you ri4 the bell until all were awake or did you have to wait outside for rescue?
full marks for tertiare -- she heard me yelling and came and let me in. she was DEAD asleep too, so she really rocks
don't have a bell.
wtg #3, well do4 saving your mother's ar... errrr bum.
and did I mention it's below freezing out? LOL sprite, she is back to sleep already....arse is fine
teehee sprite
imagine not having a bell! It is another world there for sure.
I dont usually lock the doorknob either, just the deadbolt, so not sure what all happened there
Soodle lost her bum, so I thought I'd better use it...
LOL sprite, how the other half lives, eh?
hey it was in the dead of night hun. Of course you don't know. You were asleep on your feet.
ooooh, the church bells up the street are chiming....I heart that sound!
oh yes, gort! Nobody here would believe me if I told them. No bell!
how nice Trif.
r u 4 real, sprite?
I see a fa8 old english coin in the grid :-)
I don't have a bell - in fact none of the houses I have lived in have ever had a bell. I grew upp in the generation of Australians that usually used the back door anyway
LOL gort....yes, I really do live in one of those sleepy new england towns, where no one locks their doors, and hardly anyone needs a bell, (though some people do have them) because you just open up the house and walk in, since you know exactly whose house it is anyway
just the same second as I, zooz! And I am singing a song now... she came without a fa8... a babe without a name... so much ado 'bout no7... is what she liked to say....
I am, gort, why you asking?
I live in one of those English towns where you lock your front door when you go upstairs lol
i thought you were joking about life without a bell being unimaginable. i have a bell for the first time in many houses
lollll and hi Katie!
------->separated at birth from lynxxx
hi Katie
morning everyone
Hello, Katie.
bells are for fancy people whose houses are so big they can't hear you hollerin'
holland is different, gort. Everybody here has a doorbell. Doors are locked. By far most people are NOT amused when somebody enters the backdoor uninvited.
I think I better go stock up the penalty box. There are a lot of "potential" words in this grid. *Loading up the chocolate, baked goods, coffee and liquor*
We sometimes do that here Trif - though usually yell out when you enter the house - just in case there is some-one in the all together
well no, here we call those people thieves, but once upon a time, we called them mothers-in-law...either way, we also called the cops
even mari rings the bell before walking in to our house even if she knows it's just me in
lol Gort
*jumps into the PB unseen and grabs a cup of coffee, debating whether a liquor to go with it is overdoing it at noon*
the island i was a missionary on, people do this sweet little thing when they pass each other's houses, and sort of sing a little greeting in patois, and if the person is home they call back. I miss it so....
I remember when it was OK to leave front doors unlocked but not these days :( and to add to the babblers list of soodle and oodle are inge and ho4(owl).
as my dad used to say, sprite, "if the sun is over the yardarm...."
morning FM
and mari is in there too. Evening lynxx and hello all.
hehehe good thinking, Trif
morning FM
hey FM *hugs*
Okay then, I'm calling everyone by their first initial today, just to be safe.
oh cool, trif, tell us more about your island missionarising days in patois (which i'm guessing isn't just a fancy french goose liver?)
lol gort!
Hello, Molly & FM :-)
i've just had to turn the heating on to try and get crumble off my lap
Hey zooz - imagine the day your name is in the grid!
one of the best times I have ever had, gort, and almost the best thing I have ever done
aw Trif that sounds so friendly! Of course, if that were the norm in the Netherlands, you could keep on singing. Not that that would be a bad th5.
why's that trif?
lol..think we will be waiting a very long time.
it may happen though, zooz!
never say never :)
true ;-)
because I learned so much, in such a short time. Got my eyes knocked open about how life really is for others, and learned a lot of where my own limits are, physically, mentally, and spiritually, and then learned how, when, and if to push past those same limits
Okay, that is a first for me. 100 words before 7AM. Thanks to our friend, the gerund. Must get ready for work.
woot Trif, most people don't master those lessons in th5 whole life!
wtg Molly v interesting Trif!
where?when? how? why? who with? these and more qs for trif
(tx 4 free clue sprite)
Trif must organise a master class
yvw gort
I agree, Trif. When is day 1 of the class?
let's see" the Commonwealth of Dominica, which is NOT the Dominican Republic, through Short Term Volunteers in Mission, Because my mom, a physician, was also there with me, and I felt braver being there with her, and it was not an evangelical mission trip but a service oriented one, focusing on sustainable improvements and setting up cottage industries that would survive after we left. No one wants to be the "big white mister" coming down to help the locals....
oh my coffee is in the grid, now i want one but can't move for crumble
*pours Katie a cup of coffee*
*passes Katie a coffee*
ty sprite
wow, wow, triple wow, Trif. A wonderful experience.
lol sprite.
mmm *gort's eyebrows arch with interest* keep going trif
quick example: we renovated a room in a school to be a home economics classroom, with desks, sinks, stoves, etc. and then sponsored the college education of a young woman who wanted to study teaching. upon graduation she returned to the island to teach home ec in the classroom we fitted
snap, FM :)
lol ty both
I have been to Dominica a total of four times now, and the last trip I brought my children with me, so they could see the island that meant so much to me
Thats the way to do it Trif.
anyone want a calico cat - very affectionate
secondo fell MADLY in love with the place. Every year she asks me when we can go back.....
my love has helped building two schools in Nicaragua, through the El Sol project. He would fully agree with you, Trif.
oh yes, I have her Katie, will give her lots of cuddles.
why does yr love do it sprite?
i mean what motivates him?
*I will have her even
if it wasn't so hard to get to, I would def think about retiring there....
my love did it because he thought it was needed and worth doing. He was working for the union here and they were part of the project. The people he lived with there, he still refers to as 'parents', they became so close. A totally different life there, too. Very simple. Hard to even get the basics of life together. Great people.
i'm supposed to be working, will get back to it once take that have been on the livelounge on radio one
cool sprite

no it is pease from a few grids ago -- sea slugs
forgive me, but ewwwwwwwwwwwww
it is such a happy word. Don't know why.
ewwww
i was so frustrated because there were peas and pease but no peace
even sea slugs are people... oh no, they are not.
dolphins seem happy
Apparently my cousin was just on tv as background for Undercover boss
i think they look like condoms
lol sprite
well they don't date sea slugs.

Hey Lynxx Voting this weekend
hi littlebit
hey herin

this just tells me i ne** to date more!
hi Littlebit
hi little and lil
no it tells you you've smartly avoided baggage
I wouldn't recommend dating just to get an ex to be nasty about once in a while though
just found fa8, a brit coin I think
hey lynxx and jmc
no sprite?
lovely word, isn't it
;-)
there are a LOT of gerunds i see
nah. Too expensive. *gr4*
yep and past tenses, lil*monkey.
yep just add ing to everything
and past-tense everything as well. Some words are really crazy... er... normal for enable.
Because I am in the grid today, and because you have all made me laugh out loud, I would like to buy each and every one of you a MA 7/32. Cheers all!!!!

cute herin :-P
oo6/27 comes from that one
oa4/5
ty sprite
also, I think. oa4/5 and oa6
i should have tried that one first!
6/24 I mean
lol yes
yep all three it is greyed out now
it is always hard to find out which words come from which tile!
i always thought cooth should be a word since you have to be un someth***
lol!
we actually used it around my house when i was growing up -- the only non-word my english teacher mother ever allowed
Sorry I didn't ahve it :(
funny to have two public means of transportation from one tile.
np herin
you do now, lady ;)
good day all, what a fun fun grid!
hi melissa
hi melissa! I totally agree, one of the best lately!
it is fun -- enough easy words to avoid frustration but enough challenging ones too
Hi j and sprite, I thought we'd be kindred spirits on this point!
we are :)
It's strange how such little things can make a dull and leaden Monday seem quite bright. :D
oh melissa it is too early in the morning to be dull already!
fireflies. Terra is waiting for me, so I have to leave this great company, alas. *hugs* for you all. Thanks for the fun and the laughs!
Have a lovely day sprite!
whoo hooo sprite!
True jm, it's just that Pacific NW winter has finally really started and I'm feeling a bit blue. But this puzzle is making me less muzzy.
JMC, I think it's "couth"
*throws sparkles over melissa*
probably molly
Ah that's lovely, thank you!
good game last night no?
It wore me out.
sparkles help most anything
it was a nail biter especially with all the injuries
They are definitely underrated.
are you up terrifically early or up terribly late melissa?
Terrifically early! I've been working from home lately so my hours are kind of nutty.
Wow and I thought I got up early today at 5!
*makes melissa a cup of coffee*
th*** goes my alarm to wake me up
When I can sleep whenever I want to, I tend to take luxurious naps during the day, then bolt awake at the crack of dawn. And yes I will happily accept coffee!
Ay yi yi you *are* up early!
i thought you were a musician
i don't get many luxurious naps in the middle of the day but wake up and work when i wake up and work -- if that makes sense
I am, but that's not my day job! I also do copywriting and editing as a freelancer.
ah! that makes more sense to me
You're in DC, are you in gov? If you don't mind my asking.
ack there is NOT in the grid but the third person pl possessive is! ne** more coffee myself
not in gov i am an evil lobbyist
*twirls moustache*
Oy, how dopey, you're with a NPO!
I am not reading well this morning!
meca
opps
you're safe herin
Your cause sounds far from evil and I bet you don't even *have* a mustache! :D
But it seemed conviencing
too true -- you are welcome to vote on my job interview outfits
Ok, lemme take a look!
lol herin i think it has two Cs
<=== surprised at self for knowing how to spell someth***
o wel
you get a word if you swap the vowels herin
cheers
I like outfit B or G, personally!
interesting choices
most people like A or H and I kinda like G myself
In fact I'm going to settle on G, because the belt is cute.
the belt is cute and is on the sweater
ty for your input
You look like you feel pretty and confident in G, so that's another reason to consider it! It's the one where you're really smiling.
my boy the photographer was prodding me
:D
we tried to make the photos enough alike so the issue was the clothes
hence the model stance with a hand in my pocket
They were all alike, but I don't know -- it's your body language too, you just look most comfortable in that one to me!
When is your interview?
Dec 6
the only problem is that if i get the job i will have to move to philly!
sometimes i think it would be better to just go back to practicing law -- especially since my law office is out of my home now
when i started practicing law a woman working out of her house would not have been taken seriously
but it is different now
Wow, that's huge and quite a move. Yes, a lot of people work out of homes here, including lawyers...
Good morning all. I like outfit B myself-bright and neat and professional looking at the same time. but it depends on what the interview is for.
Hi Eva. Right I am off and going to bed.
It's a bit nervewracking being your own business right now though. I'm lucky I'm doing well, but man it's unpredictable.
ty eva -- a job as the head of a quaker organization
oh melissa i was self-employed for 20 years before i got the job running the peace org which is only slightly different from being self employed when you are the boss
seriously dont know how you guys get so good at this :)
i would have been bankrupt years ago but for credit cards to smooth over the dips!
the same way you get to Carnegie Hall sami! ;-)
Do you think they want someone more on the vibrant, dramatic, warm side or more on the reserved side? I like the outfits with vibrant colors, but they give a different message.
Well, then I guess you can cope with the vagaries of self-employment pretty well then -- and I know what you mean about credit! Woof, I just paid all mine off after a period where both my husband and I were out of work.
hmmm good question -- it is clear from the feed back from my insiders and references that th*** problem with me is that I am too *ahem* direct in my speech
yes melissa -- my sister cant stand being self-employed but I don't think i could stand having a boss at this point
That's why I like G or B, they are reserved but with a hint of personality.
So I guess the bigger question, if you can afford to ask it, is whether you want a job, especially to move for a job, where you can't be yourself.
good point melissa -- most people like the sparkles in A but I am afraid it is just too much
oh but I can be myself eva since as an attorney and the head of an organization which represents conservative christians, nra members, radical christians, and communist athiests I am clear about roles
JM HIRE ME
I hear you there. I love the freedom as well.
lol herin i am afraid the commuting expenses would kill both of us herin
I can move
Hi all. Fascinating! I like G myself. Why are you wanting to leave your current job JM??
the th*** about this job would be that i would be representing a fa**ly narrow group of quakers (which is less taxing) with whom I share a lot and can talk about the connections of justice and peace and not just conscientious objection
Yes, I thought you looked beautiful in the sparkly ones, but they were more going out in the evening looks than job interview.
but can you get a visa herin?
it is just time jayk I ne** someth*** new and so does the organization
Don't know but I also dont want to get frisked by TSA
then agree to the body scan
Wow. Big move. I would hate to leave DC
I think that is right Eva -- it is a great jacket but not for a job interview
That is the drag Jayk but then I don't have the job
The thought of having to go to Philly games makes me slightly nauseous
Good morning Babblers :)
hi nono
Morning!
it wasn't so much the jacket for me as the black sparkly blouse
jmc, I would pick outfit G
ty nono
G is moving up in the polls
Actually you have Snow right?
jmc what is it about Philly that bothers you?
not here yet herin
the baseball team and being away from my sister
I'd say A, but I think that's cos I'm English and it looks English :P
i think living in downtown phillly for a few years would be fun otherwise
:-P
hi ata
and hi :)
i understand being away from your sister, but the ball team? just ignore them and root for whomever you please
Ata, the pup in your profile is just adorable.
It does sound as if once you get the job you will be in a strong enough position to be yourself. At a certain age I just decided that if I had to distort myself too much to get a job, I didn't want it. Of course that was also at a time when jobs were easier to come by. Now I almost never have to decide on outfits anymore, unless I venture outside of Vermont. Getting out of one's nightgown and not wearing mudboots is considered dressing up here.
I could enjoy the team but not the fans nono -- and I am a big baseball fan -- have season tickets to the Nationals from the start
that's my Hobbit :D
Man, am I slow on the uptake. Is today "show off your pet" icon day?
well it is not a contortion as much as a facet
nooo, she's just always my pic :)
are those paramecium jm?
but mondays are pet days
no they are pease which are sea slugs
Ata it is Hobbit in ful Booooooooing
from thursday's grid
So cute! I just noticed a lot of kitties and pups running about. Ah, see, that's what you miss when you don't change your icon for 5 years.
ah yes the Philly fanatics, :) I'm not sure they're any worse than some other team fans but Washington is not that far away, a weekend trip would be easy enough to do and take in a game while your there
ah yes-too complex for paramecia
it is a great pic of hobbit ata -- you really get the silliness of that dog
actually having sat through several games with several different teams i would say the Philly fans are the worst. And I would work a lot of weekends but you are right --- I could get down to some games in DC
she's a very happy little dog. It's almost impossible to be sad around her
True
anyway I may not get the job and then I wont have to worry about deciding
Ata, love that pic! Hobbit looks to be having a blast
Hi, Ata - beautiful Hobbit! Thats my "Gollum" on the right
she was :) it's a little bit distorted cos the babble icon squareness, but ...
hi italian
beautiful dogs, Italian!
awwwww! gorgeous, IG!!
IG those dogs are adorable
Thanks! I lost the little guy on the left, so I annoy the other now with constant spoiling
Right I have to get up at stupid oclock tomorrow. O IG :(
stupid o'clock, I'm totally stealing that!
they really are just smily!
lol herin sleep well
Absolutely gorgeous dogs, IG. Greyhounds are just lovely.
They just heard their favorite word: Treat!
treat is a dogs best friend
they do perk up at that word!
ring
ooops sorry
okay 100 words found i think I will have to go do someth*** useful
bye bye jmc, have a great day
Have a good one, jm!
bbl and nice talking with you melissa and eva (and all)
*poof*
I love this grid. I want to hug it and squeeze it and call it George.
NIght night
:) Melissa, that is a favorite phrase around my house
nitey nite Herin sleep well
:D We're also fond of "I don't like tea, it gives me a headache" and "Oh, a whole lotta lumps!"
In fact we go for long periods only speaking in Looney Tunes or Simpsons to each other, it's an awful affliction.
Oh Good night herein, I'm overbabbling. I'll say good night/day myself!
have a good one Melissa
thanks nono, you have the best name ever btw!
oh thanks

Canadian Thanksgiving - How It Began The origins of Canadian Thanksgiving are more closely connected to the traditions of Europe than of the United States. Long before Europeans settled in North America, festivals of thanks and celebrations of harvest took place in Europe in the month of October. The very first Thanksgiving celebration in North America took place in Canada when Martin Frobisher, an explorer from England, arrived in Newfoundland in 1578. He wanted to give thanks for his safe arrival to the New World. That means the first Thanksgiving in Canada was celebrated 43 years before the pilgrims landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts!
what happened in Newfie? ... that's the only place there was a European settlement until 1608 ... but I'll admit ... nobody really knows ... because the authorities everywhere were always ddeclaring a day of thanks ..
Another reason for Canadian Thanksgiving arriving earlier than its American counterpart is that Canada is geographically further north than the United States, causing the Canadian harvest season to arrive earlier than the American harvest season. And since Thanksgiving for Canadians is more about giving thanks for the harvest season than the arrival of pilgrims, it makes sense to celebrate the holiday in October. So what are the differences between Canadian and American Thanksgiving, other than the date? Not much! Both Canadians and Americans celebrate Thanksgiving with parades, family gatherings, pumpkin pie and a whole lot of turkey!
we don't play quite so much football on the day ...
there u go ( grabbed that from one site..but hit 4 various sites....all said essentially the same thing)
although the argos and ti-cats do have a traditional grudge match
good morning everyone;) i am glad you cleared up that thanksgiving thing for us carlee;))
and....it follows that since ours falls on a sunday...when people traditionally give thanks anyway..it kinda follows is a day of thanksgiving for the fall harvest
they do this is true
( at least..tradistionally in our euro christian roots )
Hello, Crossy.
howdy zooz
( well..crossy....you know us cdn's tend to not dive into the celebrations of war....we a peace loving nation .....<snort>. so it couldnt be a celebration of the french being defeted....and if it was....quebec would definitely be gone from canada...if it was a celebration defeting the french
i thought it may have been a celebration of us tossing the americans back then;)))))
don't tell anyone in Halifax ... which was practically the only english speaking community in the country at the time ...
now now crossy... here is your misty jack..go sit over there and lets not ulset our american friends...
tossing americans out would either be an 1812 thing ... or a French thing because they did it so often ...
((Crossy)) good morning
its ok,i will share the misty jack
((mom))
i see, Netherlands,Grenada,Liberia also celebrate thanks giving too.
Crossy, just finished a 2000 fold and working on another
cool... i would gather that alot of cultures that had a strong pagan background would do something of the sort...
Hey. :D
i am stuck on 2000's like crossy is stuck on 250s
yaa for mom! i have my elegants computer up and running again and she just drew a 2000 for folding
Yawn. I was married to a Canadian. I got over the "Canadians are better than Americans" thing years ago. : D
yes mine has had a run of 250s latley.
no one said we were better...nor are we worse... its just we like to poke fun at americans as our culture is so riddled with american influences
we are not "better" we are just a tad more...easy going lets say.that is just observing what i see drifting over from michigan and buffalo etc..although showing a american what a dime or a quarter is in their change is always great fun..see? the one that says 10 on it is a dime, and the one that says 25 on it is a quarter...lool
sorry ... my dad was at Dieppe where the americans and British decided that they's try an experiement and used Canadians as guinea pigs ... took me years to get over the indoctrination that americans and british were really lower forms of humanity ...
hahahahaha too funny crossy
my grandad was at dunkirk..same thing they were left on the beach to die,too civillian craft to get the survivors off for the most part
it is true carlle!!:)
man out loony and toonie must really freak them out then :)
our*
the loonie seems easier for them, cause some remember their susan b anthony dollars
ahhh...ok... before my time apparently
ok..now why doesnt toodle make it in the grid
i know i toodle every day
was having a drink at the bar in Grand Central Station in '08 and the bartender actually had a few Susan Anthony dollars ... I traded him a looney for one
but the visitors are drying up now that our dollars are near parity and they no longer get their 2 for 1 sales
i have 1 or 2 in my coin collectors slush box
no....we go there for our 2 to one cus everything is chreaper there anyway
I once saw, program on tv , somewhere in Canada, they made a square hole over a river in the middle of winter, and people would take turns to jump in, what is all that about?
that is the polar bear club zooz
i am a member
we're rough and tough .... and incredibly insane ...
it is good for the pores;))
but there were children doing it as well..lol...not for me i think..LOL
lol, nobody said we were totally balanced:)
who is, we all have our moments i am sure :-)
it feels like a thousand needles stinging you all at once
Why would anyone do it, then? D:
And the reason you do that is?
then all the breath leaves you, till you finally get your heart beating again and gasp in a breath
geez, that sounds like a torture...lol
same reason people climb tall mountains..cause it is there
I guess, maybe the adrenaline rush is worth it?
I must admit, lots of people looked well pleased that they did it.
it would be more a case of saying that i am not going to let winter beat me and we are going to have a bit of fun no matter what, even if it is 30 below
lots do it for fundraising
and u start in a hot sauna...
Oh, that makes sense, I guess.
yes,you get all hot in the sauna, then come out and roll in the snow and back in you go
Wait, wouldn't going from really hot to really cold hurt like hell? D:
oh wow did nnot know they did a hot sauna first..man that must be a real big shock to the system.
the finns have done that for centuries
yeah ... it's a silly fun thing .... that raises bunches of money for charity ... and you get to be on television being weird ... and it's fun ... ... until some 50 year old goes into cardiac arrest and has to fished out of the water
like i say,in the sauna, all the pores open up then into the snobank or water to close them
there was that one arnold schwartz film....he did that... came out all starkers and starting getting shot at...
ended with a crazy ass bus chase scene at the end
lol
the secret is to ease in slowly lool
It is good that mony is raised for charities though.
yes,mostly cardiac monitors lol
Yeah, it is good.
ease in slowly, yeah right..they were jumping in..lol
But I still don't think I'd do it. D:
i do it once a year, usually in january
I hope you don't mind that I think you might be a little bit crazy, cross. xD
you are just noticing this now?
xD
lol
its the long cold winter...it does us in
brb..semi-poof
it`s the bloody too long dark hours that get me.
that too..but we do get cabin fever
Well, I'd go for the long cold winter thing, but there are Polar Bear Clubs in the US too. So I think it's more of a crazy thing. : P
copy cats
Yeah, us americans are such posers. xD
heheeh
Does anyone have a hint for the nine? D:
Sssh...cgw...THEY accuse US of being posers...it's kind of funny.
children watch them.
its animated....
xD

Aaaaah OK.
Good morning all
I had two words made up of that, already, I should have been able to find it. xD
Thanks. :)
Hello, Mr Bob :-)
Hi, Mr Bob. :D

24 left? Ugh, I have 220. xD
Cgw, today...when in doubt...add the gerund
...The gerund? D:

I feel so lost. I don't know what "gerund" means. D:
so..do like we do..google :)
It means ing
Ah. Well. To google it is, then.
Ooooooooh
I see, yeah. That makes sense. xD

Could someone remind me what "NBT" and "NBS" stand for? D:
no blank tiles, no blank stats
No Blank Tile No Blank Stats.
Ooooh Ok. Thanks. :D
Hi everyone. Been in and out all day trying to do this huge grid!

I'll be off to the PB now.
SL5 is an appropriate grid word for those of us playing at work (though it is not my fault i have nothing else to do...)
that would be the one molly:))
getting paid to babble..there is nothing finder;)
lol, hello, Hurshy :-)
finer
actually, i think it would be finer to be paid to do actual work. but at the moment, i'm not. applying for other jobs, though, to try to get there...
put another nickel in, in the nickelod5, all i want is lovin you and music, music, music!
Eva! You are channeling my Mom.
that OD5 word has gotten that song stuck in my head. :)
Well, if you suddenly change up to "Shuffle Off To Buffalo", it's my Mom. : D
cineplex od***
plus plural.
we used to practice to that song in tap class when i was little...heh
ty zooz
Well, I'm done for now. See y'all later. :)
Our little Eva is a tap dancer. Who knew?
Take care, Cgw8 :-)
i have been a dancer since the age of 2 1/2. i taught for a few years...
Help on the first ca7,40 please? PLEASE?
extend the ca5/14 before it.
pt of the ca 5/14 before it erda
Cool Eva, what kind of dance did you teach?
clue for the first ca 7/32
tap, jazz, ballet, poms
poms?
What milk comes in, and plural
Sorry, just the plural.
yknow, dancing with pom-pons -- like carlee does when someone gets fireworks. :)
ca 7/32 a light, open sleigh pulled by horses or dogs
That isn't the first one Molly
Oh! Perhaps someone would like to shake them for me at the moment then :-)
TY zoo and Sally; never would have guessed it...
*shakes poms for sally*
*Glad to give Eva the chance to practise*
You're very good Eva. That's quite some moving!
Anyone desire any clues before I go?
WTG Sally!...i still need 7 more, but will be ok thanks.
It's bitterly cold here zooz. How about you?
same here, sally..in fact i have got a hot water bottle..lol
warm one here today it is 15c:)
lol zooz. Good for you. I have log burner alight and a jumper (unusual for me because I don't feel the cold).
lucky you, Crossy :-)
Be off now. Bye all!
-5.3 here
Take care, Sally :-)
Not nice, Trentsnana :-(
What is that in Fahrenheit, Crossy?
57f
We got the cold air from Canada - they can have it back!
close, it is 59f
weather net says 57
but either or
whats 2f
then we shall split the difference and call it 58
still stuck on the first ca 7/32
do not use imperial measure much anymore anyways
except beer will forever be in pints and fish will evermore be in pounds;))
i do prefer imperial myself.
we were dragged kicking and screaming into metric in 1978 lol
they changed it by law here, but everyone complained when getting groceries weighed so they had to change it so it showed both imperial & metric..lol
"lol,i understand fully,i hate buying sliced meat from the butcher by the 100 gram measure
plus it was a good excuse to make things just a bit smaller, yet charge the same for it..like chocolate bars for instance.
can you imagine asking instead of a pint of milk but can i have 568.261485 millilitres of milk please..LOL
any great clues out there??????
actually our litre is a tad larger than the old quart i believe
Define great.
57 degrees is warmish. i dont get it.
Boo, ca 7/32 ca + The Baltimore O*****s baseball team.
ty for that super great clue molly. how did you ever come up with it? i never would have thought of that.
any clues for o words? i dont have any of them.
ty Molly
and it is easy zooz, the entire metric system is based on tens...250 mil is half pint,500 mil is a pint,1000 mil is a litre and so on
Sorry I clued you wrong the last time Boo. There are too many c words to keep up with today.
that's ok Molly
And i still prefer MPH :-)
we(my generation) are the transitional generation in regards to imperial and metric.we do both, but our kids know only metric so the confusion will end with us
*wanders back in to Babble at work... late, as usual...*
Hi guys!
True, Crossy, i do not mind there being metric. I just prefer to use imperial..lol
hi aaroniton
WB, DFM & hello, Aronitor.
oops sorry aaronitor, not n.
howare u!
cold, but ok, how are you?
ok, has there been snow where u live
:o/ Imperial measure is still recognised by stores here... they list everything in both kg and lb...
No not yet, i take it you have snow where you are ?
<-- bought "seven ounces and two-hundred grams" of fish yesterday... and they didn't complain... I think...
where do you live dfmch?
yeah! just a little bit though, by the end of the week we are suppost to have several inches
Ottawa
Hello again. :D
lol, DFM my father just says i will take two of those or three slices of that, never by weight.
at the moment, at last...
WB, Cgw8 :-)
*at least
Thanks. :)
hi cgw :o)
lol@ buying it by the slice!
is that good or bad, Aaronitor?
how many words have u got
sliced fish? o.0
bad
"yes,i will have 1 slice of everything please"
i have found 289 words so far.
the meat..not the fish lol
LOL, DFM
sliced chicken wings? :oO
289 words! how do u get that many words
Can I get a clue for the top e? D:
What is o.O ??
en4 cgw8
aaron, if lickety is up and you have the time you manage to get them. clues from others on the chat helps.
as time goes on it gets easier and you start to see words and recognize them.
CGW...EO4 a long time
my goal with large grids is half way because i dont have the time for all of it. now i have 151 wqords so am over that half way point.
but i've just came in from school, i havn't gt very much time to come on this!
Hm...a long time...
just get as many as you can, it is only for fun.
both top e's are e4 and fish
so just start by trying as many words as you see.
Hello, Kje ;-)
Thanks, car. :)
hi
jewelry w/carving
whats ur highest pointed word, and how any points
remember endings: like if you make a word, can you do an s for plural, an ed for past tense, an ing for gerund ending. they are all in this grid. but some grids dont have those endings.
e4 meaning fish?
afer you have been doing babble a while you learn not to worry about finishing so much
hi cross
emds
ends
oops
howdy boo:)
Lol wrong box. D:
clue for the last ca 7/40
can`t remember the word, Aaronitor, but it recent and got 170 points for it.
that was that 00 13 /170 word from yesterday?
Yeah, since I'm not a genius who can whisk through a nearly 300 word grid, and the fact that I actually have a life other than Babble, I don't worry about finishing much. Just the challenge of finding as many words as I can is enough.
I have type of a ray...or pet feline + **me for the holidays + **al or no **al
ca7/30 - begin with a feline, end with a poem, join them up with a consonant.
170 points! how long was the word!
Was it the QU 12 & 13?
Good clue Haz!
ty haz
quattrocentos for the 13 it was.
Thanks, Molly, you're welcome, Boo.
that was it
not sure how to clue the Ca7/40 , boo, so will give the def ;the positive terminal of a voltaic cell or battery.
Thats the one, Haz.
Hello all.
Hello, FM :-)
Thanks zooz and haz. :D
Hi, FM
Hello, FM.
Good afternooon Haz!
4:15pm & it is getting dark :-(
I know, zooz, and it's chilly.
That's way too early for it to be getting dark. D:
I know zooz and I've not long put on the heating.
I am sat here, Haz with a hot water bottle..lol
Not a good forecast for the end of the week folks
what is the forcast, Deeha?.
esp if you live in the norht Deeha
I know, there's talk being bandied about of the s word.
Can I get a hint for the "I" D:
Sorry for being dumb, but is it correct to put a full stop after a question mark?
Our milkman left a note this morning 'Remember how hard it was to get salt last year? Pre-order road salt from your milkman' Talk about diversifying!
How enterprising!
making angry=ir6
No, the question mark denotes the end of the sentence, no need to add a stop.
No zoom the queation mark is sufficient
you are joking, The milkman selling road salt..LOL
Thanks, Haz.
No problem, zooz.
And, Deeha :-)
Thanks, grant. Now to find it. :D
I laughed when I read it, and we'll probably buy some.
it's actually a 5
Oh, ok. :D
Got it! :D
hello :) Do you mix some into Spangle's gruel to make her anti-slip?
wait, the milkman, roadsalt, what? o.o
one of many such in this grid
in4 & io4 also, Cgw8
there are also 2 x i4 both of which crop up in grid frequently.
Thanks, zooz. :)
No, we'll keep the salt well away from her, I think. Hello, Ata.
LOL, Ata.
greek ketter io
letter
Now I just need in4. :D
still have 19 more to go and nobody is giving clues for them Do:
HI Ata!
in+**mbic pentameter
And freworks for me.

Congrats zooz!!!!!!!!
Congratulations, zooz!

a+not incorrect
ar6/27 (cryptic:) Once not wrong properly
ar6/27 (cryptic:) Once not wrong properly
ty
Oh wow! Y'all in the UK still have milk men? That is so cool.
LOL, Molly they are declining though.
I certainly do, it's not always necessarily the case, it depends on where people live.
I can't find in4, even with the hint. DD': I feel so shameful. D:
in4 = in + vowel + another vowel
They are a rare breed Molly
we do :) they deliver orange juice nad apple juice too
molly you still get milkmen in Canada or the States (I think), depending where you live...
Oh, wow. Thanks dfm. I don't know how I didn't get that. D:
And road salt, Ata :-)
I'm out for a little bit, bye. :)
don't think ours has got that enterprising yet ....
I just hope we don't need the road salt this winter.
Must admit that I haven't seen a milkman since they opened the late night convenience stores in the sixties ... ... but you'll still find older houses with a milk box by the back door ... ... road salt by the ton though ...
Someone told me we should get a very cold one this year as there was many berries on bushes & trees.
We've only recently shifted over from glass bottles to the ca7/32.
they still do bottles here, isle of wight is soo far in the past ;-(
I can't remember the last time I saw milk in a glass bottle.
I found it surprising that Canada is one of the few countries to have bags of milk... o.o
i am talking of milkman though, in shops, mosltly platic.
Milk bottles are fine until you let one slip on a tiled floor.
mostly plastic (Sorry)
and the birds loved pecking through the foil top to get at the cream.
Bags of milk I could handle. Boxes of wine make me cringe.
We do have milk in bags but inside a box for machines though.
We thwarted the birds with plastic caps...
our milk is usually in bags, in a bag. :oO And those bags are in crates...
and some mornings you'd get frozen milk with little holes in the foil
I won`t tell you what my brother thwarted the birds with, Haz, although he did get into alot of trouble for it.
but that was when he was a kid.
I know someone whose birds learned how to open the foil tops fully o.o
Oh dear! Don't come between a boy and his pinta.
hello everyone! Funny that you should be talking about birds pecking holes in foil milk tops. We were just telling our children about them just last week!
Wait, how do the birds get in the milk box?
hi all
Hi lile! Hi jmc!
Hello, Jmc :-)
Hello, Lile :-)
Alas it is time for me to go, tske care, All :-)
take*
good morning everyone
awe bye zooz and Hi Lile and jmc.
bye zooz
and hi flosey
hi flosey
we also forgot to put our empties out regularly. Then once a month we'd apologise to the milkman and tell him that the cat had had a party...
bye zoos
bye zooz
hi flosey! :o)
zooz, zorry
hello everybody
zo
hi ruby
162 this AM and now, a few minutes while dinner cooks
sorry... pff monkeys aren't too good today!
you cook dinner in the mornings ruby?
Hello ruby
Time difference Lile. Ruby is in France.
<-- still waiting for any D,E,G,M clues... hasn't listed yet... nobody is mentioning them...
hi ruby :o)
hi ruby! I saw Bella on Saturday :) She has a shaved back leg with a foofy pompom of fur on her foot
have you put ing on everyth*** dfm?
but ruby said this AM...
this AM and NOW lile
:-)
Probably, even those words that are nowhere near the I... :o/
dfm - there are 15 Ds, 14 Gs, and 17 Ms - that is pretty broad for asking clues.... we don't just usually randomly throw clues out
I love the foofoo puff of fur!
does anyone have a clue for ar6 please
Can anyone clue the ar6 please ;o)
a+not wrong
oh, I get it. 162 words this AM and NOW cooking dinner. I have de**** the message... with your help of course!
ar6 - a plus correct
it is 5:39 PM here and dinner is cooking (or re-heating, depending on who it's for....)
hi kje
Thanks jmc
lol lile
yeah I know, kje XoD
thanks jmc and Haz
yw norma
nice clues, haz
sometimes the chog is as difficult as the grid... ;)
does anybody live near to Ascot?
I'm just sitting here lurking for clues ;o)
hello lili!!!
thanks for letter freq.s by the way :o)
inde** lile
haz gave me good ones!
FM used to live in Ascot, ruby.
I lived there ruby before I moved last year.
*checks map* not me
I think I can even show you .... and Bella is near Ascot :P
FM: do you still have the name and/or number of a florist? I need to send flowers to my friend who needs cheering up
i am hungry and I forgot to bring my lunch i made :-(
I loathe FTD!
aww jmc... :o( <-- leaves his lunch on the stove about 30% of the time :o/
oh no jmc! maybe ruby can spare you some of her dinner...
once you order from them, you get constant ads
jmc knows she's always welcome here
Longacres is a great nursery and they do local deliveries
Time to start cruising the take out menus JMC
I usually remember but i was meeting with an architect on the phone with the handiman . . . .
there's a nice gr6 in the grid jmc...
someday ruby... I have friends in geneva I need to visit and I am taking you up on a cup of coffee
i am afraid the time to get to ruby's and back would be too long a lunch
ruby, check my pic :)
you betcha, kje!!!!
we are 35 minutes from Geneva airport, 45 minutes from downtown
mmmmm cheese
They have a website too Ruby where you will be able to get the phone number from, let me check for you.
yes, ruby... send your friend ata's pic!!! perfect to cheer someone up
that's the one! ;)
yes i was heart broken i didn't get to fly to geneva to interview
thank you, FM, Margaret sounded blue today!
Is there a list up?
www.longacres.co.uk
Lickety is working.
lickety is up
hi helen
B used to buy me flowers from there every week.
<--- just got up
how sweet FM
Thanks - I had looked when I came on, and it was the 159 word one - should have refreshed, maybe.
slug
ata: that is how Ruby should look, I need to cut off chunks of matted fur but she tends to sit down when I try
*Passing the strong coffee to Ruru*
Bells is beautiful apart from the shaved leg!
Hi, finished grid earlier but just nipped back in to ask ruby how the court case went?
BabAnon is inaccessible today - hard to get Saturday (?) - hope it gets fixed!
hi sally
*puts cup out for a sip*
Hello, Sally.
thank you FM, I will send her flowers in the morning
Sally! hello hello
Hallo Haz and everyone.
the lawyer told me not to bother going on Friday, that she would take care of it and let me know this afternoon. But nothing so far!
she said it was only for the results of the criminal proceeding and would not be a platform for anything from her
*Passing strong coffee to JMC too*
That's what I thought, that you would hear today. Oh well, lawyers! No news on the village grapevine then?
Glad to hear other animals do that sort of thing, Ruby - we have a cat with a beautifully groomed right side, and a perpetual crop of little clumps on her left side, because whenever we get out the brush she lies down on that side! Takes two people to persuade her to get the left side brushed.
*frowns at sally*
No, and husband is afraid to go for his walks
Ruby weighs about 75 lbs and when she makes a "position decision", forget about budging her
what have I said to make you frown jmc? Are you a lawyer? lol, no offence meant.
i am a lawyer! ;-)
jmc, why are you frowning at Sally?
Yes, that's the advantage of cats - the can be manhandled when absolutely required! Off for a bite to eat - back soon.
do you have to wear silly black robes with fur on them, jmc?
bye helen
Well, what I really meant to imply of course is that lawyers are such tremendously busy people that the phone call might be a little late :-) (have I dug myself out of that one enough?)
no thank god that is singularly european
well do** sally! lol
lol Sally
no wigs either
I think that she doesn't work on Mondays, like everybody else in Annecy....she just didn't want to tell me that
phew!
ar6?
*puts down spade*
a+not wrong
they look really silly with their costumes and sneakers underneath!
*hands sally a ma7/32 to revive her*
oh.. thanks jmc
i understand the sneakers you stand so much
but I think our lawyer was terrific; we'll just see what happens. I think the dog owner is very well-connected, old family and all that
how did I miss that ma7?
Interesting, ruby, I don't find it silly. Mind you, I've never seen an English lawyer with sneakers on underneath! I think it solemnises the proceedings.
too busy cooking ruby ;)
...there weren't any olives in it ruby
the disadvantage to no robes is I have to wear a suit and nice shoes
What are you cooking tonight ruby? Husband is cooking me steak tonight for a teat :-)
I would prefer a lawyer in a suit and nice shoes
*gives ru an anchovy stuffed olive*
I make bombay ma*****s for my husband, using noilly prat and wonderful olives
yes but the shoes always kill me if the hearing is more than an hour
rofl! What a typo!! *Wipes tears from eyes laughing*. .... cooking steak for a TREAT.
anchovy olives are great with vodka and water.....
interesting typo *pulls out pencil and pad and puts on beard* how does that make you feel sally?
raofl, just saw sally's typo. OMG! He is having leftover "Nel's spicy chicken"; dogs are having beef heart risotto,; I am having rosted beets with feta.
are your trading tit for tat?
cringe....
Helpless with laughter jmc.
I'm sending husband over to Sally's!
hmmmmmm
I'm sure she could handle him better than I!
why can I not find the ni5/10?
I don't have it, either, lile
Quickly changes subject. ni + weight
ni5 - baby louse plus opposite of off
ni5/10: (arch) Radon
I keep looking for explosives
ni + heavy weight
thanks haz and dmf and kje... :)
Poor husband, ruby, surely he's not worth blowing up?
silly word, but thank you and off for (yuck) dinner
My two phantoms today were height and legit.
ty all -- i love it where there are multiple clues
hi Ruby
hi boo
see, people can't spell my name ;oP F before M
hi jmc
bye ruby. Enjoy your beets. I think I'll enjoy my steak better.
hi and bye boo, back in 1 hr 15 min (or so)
oh5 is a silly word.... ;)
My phantoms are nigiri and ... uhh, something that is no longer appearing for me o.o
It's because so many consonants together are difficult.
i have a what do you call the th***s that help you rememeber ???
love nigiri!
mnemonic
a memory?
nemonics?
mnemonic?
Hi all, back to take another bite out of the grid, and enjoy some late afternoon coffee.
that ty kje it is dfm=dizty FM
Hello, red.
Use mnemonics all the time.
ooph, sally is ri***, didn't remember the m
I think it's called a mind, jmc ;)
Hi Haz, and all else? Are we all well today??
good morning everyone -- been lurking, down to 110 now
a mind, what a th*** to waste
lol cyber I don't have one of those!
When has FM ever shown the least sign of being ditzy?
hi red
I'm well, red, and you?
the hour has struck and I must be off. bbl to finish. bye all! :) (wave)
Bye Lile.
hi nan, red :o)
they don't have to make sense
{{lile}}
just be memorable
bye lile!
bye lile
I'm doing alright. had a disagreeable run today but these th***s happen.
I still think FM should sue for something or other.
Sorry Haz? What has happened to FM?
jmc, intersting icon...is it fossil or ameoba day?
Funnily enough, red, I never have a disagreeable run.
is fm burned by hot coffee?
that is b/c she does not run
Haz, I wish I could say otherwise. but this one is done. Indeed kje.
jmc shocked me by revealing that her mnemonic fore remembering dfm's name is 'Ditzy FM'
I don't visualise FM as ditsy, by the way.
You are quite right, kje. A fast walk is about all I could ever manage.
FM ditzy?
Oh I see! lol.
your fast walk Haz, may be faster than my slow run....but in general I enjoy so slow is good...
You see? They're all as shocked as I am, jmc. You can be witnesses for the prosecution.
what's an agreeable run though?
I generally find life is safer since I gave up the backward somersaults off the high diving board.
Oh No! I just wrote in to be excused from Jury duty...
That's a new one... ;o) I use the QWERTY keys needed to input my name in Dvorak... hymijyjy <-- vowels! :oO and a lot of people resolve to calling me "diff" or "d" o.o
I leave the log for 5 mins and find my name being taken in vain!
An agreeable run ruru is one where your time is somewhat what you expect and things do not hurt a lot.
ri6 is the dumbest so far
fm we apparently are yuor witnesses to something...
Poor FM! Have you read back? Are you not shocked, appalled and working out compensation requests?
We are supporting you FM!
I mean, it could have been 'dignified FM' or 'delightful FM' or 'delicious FM' but no....
Please translate o.o and :o0 Thank you
I thought jmc was such a nice person! So disappointed.
And her a lawyer, you'd think she'd know better.
*send her off to the interview in a bad outfit FM*
she seems to have quietly disappeared from the conversation!
no idea Erda
wait, I think you have it wrong, saying that "dfm = ditzy FM" implies that I'm a ditzier version of FM... :o/
poor jmc... time to put the bullet proof vest back on
FM -- I keep seeing it and not understanding...
lol ruru
jmc was hinting that she was hungry so maybe she's gone to find some food.
yea, its Eastern times noon time.
these c's are brutal
it is! :oO <-- should go eat some tome soon too...
*puts kevlar vest on*
not bad at all with the list, ru
Aha! Were you eating, jmc?
136 without list, and without trying too hard yet.
wear that to the interview jmc..
Want any help ru?
nothing I am weak from hunder
*hunger
I need the ca 6/21 before the horce Ca4
hunder? A dog in a storm?
dfm are you make or female?
ca6/21 - extend the preceding ca4 with two vowels.
It's typo day today I think.
every day is typo day with me around :)
make or female? hmmmm.....
It is a miracle I ever finish a single grid.
well you can make fun of me all you want just realize you will all remember dfm now
*Having JMC's back* I'm sure she meant ditzy in a fond and friendly way.
typo day or no, I found my regular fish man at the fish counter today after 2-3 weeks abscence, I was relieved to say the least.
but typos are how i find most of the words i find
ty molly
how careless of you to have lost him for so long red.
We do love jmc.
are you accusing dfm of being an android FM?
I was distraught. I had just written a note to the company to tell them how great he was, and then poof, he disappears.
that would have been droid FM
No one else skins the fish like him.
was he floundereing around somewhere red?
And did you blame yourself, red? Did you think you'd got him promoted to higher things?
Buh-dum-ching Ruru.
Perhaps he had the scales lifted from his eyes?
*groan* ruru has found his natural plaice.
I was pretty sure they had not promoted him, mostly worried they had moved him to a different shop. He is good. and nice job R.
5
maybe he took a fishing trip
Ha ha ha!

ruru is probably fishing for compliments.
A good fish guy is important, when you eat a pound or two of fish a week...

thanks lile :o)
there's lots n lots n lots of words ata.. you're better off painting and chatting...
yw dfm
although it's a friendly grid... :)
I think you're probably right. It does look fun though!
2 left! Should I also be looking for more than me 4 5?
If you want to finish it, don't start. If you'd like to do some hunting then jump in!

There are only 2 x me
thank you for the hi 6
okay, that saves me a *lot* of monkeying :o)
ata are you multi tasking now or carrying on painting?
well ... multiptasking as in painting and keeping an eye on chat :P
good for you :) I admire your strength for not putting the words in that LEAP out at one... :)
I'm sure I'll give in at some point lol
make the window smaller so you can only see the chat... ;)
Vi, do you think I can put tinsel on the White Tree of Gondor for a Christmas card, or is that sacriligious?
lol
lol good point :P
I think it's most excellent.
I think so too!
white tree of Gondor??
Tolkien geekery :)
:) aha. I don't remember a white tree.... *blush*
Are you worried about sacrelige against Christmas or sacrelige against Tolkien? (Or sacrelige against not knowing how to spell sacrelige.)
i don't get the HI6 hastening clue
I was thinking about Tolkien, but Christmas is probably just as important!!
It's part of the coat of arms, isn't it, Ata?
and thanks for the NO
lol - I suspected as much, which amused me. Either way, I say go for it.
H** the hence, varlet - then add those handy three letters meaning ongoing activity
I'd love to do a print like you do of something like that
Sorry - MUST proof these things - H** thee hence, varlet!
varlet is a fab word
Fireworks!
ok got it. thx
congrats helen
With great thanks to those three little ending letters!
Oh, yeah, block printing would be perfect for stylized white tree on black background. Straightforward to do and wonderfully dramatic.
Yay for helens!
absolutely!
yay helens!
Gondor must have had some sort of winter festival that celebrated light - and stars are pretty widespread as a symbol of light.
Be sure to show me when you finish it! ;D
I think you're right! Elves had a midwinter thingy, we know that, am sure Gondor must have had similar
True enough, helens. As long as the tinsel wasn't mass-produced in a factory, Tolkien would love it. =)
Yes, and the Elves scattered stars all over the place in their engravings - so it would be picked up, I think.
Icicles are pretty much universal, too - and that's the other side of tinsel.
it started off as being "seven stones and seven stars and one white christmas tree" :P
Icicles is a funny looking word today, for some reason.
lol
Of course - thanks for the reminder, ATA.
And now, alas, breaktime is over. Time to get back to the chores - guests arriving tomorrow. I'll be back in a while when I've earned another break.
awwwww bye dear!
bye vicuna
I'm not a dear, I'm a vicuña! ;)
(Meant to spell it deer. Darn correct spelling!)
Anyway, farewell!
:P
When I was little we had a lot of tinsel left from before the war. It was carefully taken off the tree and saved each year (less and less each, year, of course - and shorter and shorter, too!). That tinsel had weight, I tell you, and crinkle, and even though it was factory-made, I think Tolkein might not have minded it. But where could you get that now?
Tolkien did love Christmas
Which reminds me to go hang the wreath and Chinese bat on the front door (we mix cultures and holidays rather heavily nowadays!). Good luck all.
chinese bat!!!
bye helens
chinese bat? o.0
Just disappearing when I saw the Chinese bat exclamation - it is a little stuffed silk bat, embroidered in silks and hangs on a silk tasselled cord. Bats were almost as sylized as lions in China, they have very round faces! Bats are good luck, and especially associated with winter festivals in some parts of China.
I want a chinese bat
don't you have a bat left over from hallowe'en that you could do up?
how cool!
I will look out for one, and better yet, ask my son to look out for one (he's in Vancouver - HUGE China town - and he spends a lot of time there, practicing his Mandarin)
MUST go bye all.
bye!
ooh, Mandarin. That's why >.>
bye helens :o)
I want a Chinese bat for Christmas!! All I have here are real ones who sometimes visit
you could ask one to hang on your door for a while, rubyQ@
Hello Babblers
whoops, *ruby!*
hello rive
river
I've never gotten one to hold still long enough to touch it.
dancer!!!!
hi river! :o)
Hi ((Ruby)) how are you?
you shouldn't touch bats unless you know how to do it properly :)
not liking November
how is Keith? I haven't seen you since before his check-up
cold here today - feels like the dreaded word starting with "S"
Keith is great - EKG was normal
I frequently rescue birds that wind up in the house, from tiny ones to one very large hawk

that is wonderful news! doing happy dance for Keith
*in* the house? o.0
yes, in a very small village outside of Annecy
unfortunately, the village is not pictureque
:) where abouts is Annecy?
south of Geneva, northeast of Lyon
esque*
o wow! lovely area tho... :)
Ruby from pictures I have seen of your house - the area is beautiful
and the view from the house is splendid, it's just the village that is ordinary
thank you, river
and there is snow on the mountains now, should be down to us by Thursday
well, it keeps it nice a quiet in the summer and not a tourist attraction!
I like watching teh ducks / swans try to swim upriver over the little waterfall drops in annecy
Annecy is a big tourist draw
hahah ata
do they spill over into your little village?
there is only one main road around the lake, so we just stay home on summer afternoons
no need to go anywhere, sounds like! :) What a lovely place to live.
yes
:)
178 words and I give up. Good night everybody. See you tomorrow
Good Night ((Ruby))
bye ruby, the grid a bit of a ra7 today, eh?

Bye Lilecama
Goodness Mom. How many are you having and is this overnight company?
oh no, no overnighters so far 10
still waiting to hear from the other 5
Ten is a table-ful. The most I ever cooked for on Thanksgiving was 12. But everyone brought something so all I really did was the turkey, stuffing and gravy.
no one brings anything here
and I am more than happy to do it all
Oh wow Mom, that's a lot of work. Although I'm one to talk since no one brings to my house either. But I'm only cooking for four this year, as nurse girlie has to work.
mom can't any more and trust me you don't want to eat my sister's cooking :-)
mom does come over and peel the potatoes, makes her feel useful. She is such a sweetheart
and most of it will be done on Wednesday so I can just put it in the oven
a small group for you this year then. Nurse girlie is your daughter?
American Thanksgiving is this coming week? <-- horrible at remembering holidays
yes, dfmchfhf, on Thursday
It's on a thursday? o.0
correct
so you get Thursday to Sunday off? :oO
yes, most places close on Friday
except banks and retailers
Dfmchfhf, you are in Canada, correct?
yes
thought so but I don't always trust my memory
we get our Thanksgiving a month earlier... and on a Friday...
erh, on a Monday, actually...
ah, ok. I have friends in Dundas Ontario and it is always around our Columbus Day
time for a nap, be back later. ((Hugs)) to all of you
os

on my next extended break, I think I'll try some gluten-free and sugar-free treats to make
eww
those pants might work but i think it would only be fluid loss, when my niece was doing her beauty therapy i was her guinea pig and she had a wrap that was similar and i lost about an inch all over but it was just cos i cooked inside it
did you gain it back?
yup
I wish your neice would come wrap my thighs just he warmth would feel great...
she said it was a temp thing for that special night out
decar
red you are in florida i reject that you are cold!
not word..
is in degarage
10 more and I'll be half way and tme for more baking
doesn't mean "to remove a car"... ;oP
try the coffee that doesn't give you a buzz
nah, I am not cold. my legs are just sore...product of running a long long itme on Saturday.
MOM!!! JMC is looking at her butt again!!
I think you are spelling the pronounciation of descartes
oh okay poor th***
*wonders if staff person will come and see what is making the rattling sound*
I think I am alright, but I am not looking forward to this weekend's 15. what was I thinking running that much? Never again will i run a Marathon after this one.
i had trouble enough walking 6 miles in Kenya
4 miles is plenty for me
Well, I am stuck now. I am registered.
I can make that much in yards, not miles.
you could just not go and say you woke up sick
mixi you can go at least 10 yards!
sure.
or do you mean you can go 15 yards?
Yay...I am halfway to the finish...! more baking to do...cul8r!
No, My friend Jim is coming from Utah and our friend Babck from Seattle, Jay from Ca and Todd from PA, I sort of have to run it.
wtg pav cu l8er
I haven't done the two miles on my side street in a long time. it 400 feet down, the up 300 feet.
Yaaaay Pav! come back with baked goods!
will you run in a pack and cheer each other on?
Jim usually runs with me and recites coans and such. he is very entertaining.
:o/ I walk the 1 km to and from work every day... what's so bad about a few yards?
the mathematics of that side street escape me
coans?
oops Japanese Koans.
are those poems?
It's a mile long. First down a long steep hill, them back up.
how can down be longer than up?
sort of they are errr, usually int he form of questions which are sor of juxaposing...
quite the athlete dfm
its a big dip in the middle.
like, "If I had an ice cream I would give you none, if you had an ice cream I would give you mine. and that is an "Ice Cream Koan"
most are more philosophical...
do you come up the same way you go down?
<-- is actually really lazy...
*baffled* what if I don't like ice cream?
1 km no problem. less than a mile.
It's a dead end, so turn around and do it again.
It's sort of supposed to be an aid to meditation and running honestly is like an active meditation....
then it should be the same up as down mixi
funny thing is if I take the bus instead, I'd only cut ~300m, but it would take 5 minutes longer... plus the time waiting for the bus...
i actually close my eyes on the treadmill red so i agree
It ends at the top of the next hill.
drives the trainers crazy
Hello. :D
It would make me nervous too jmc, and if I did it I would likely fall off the mill...
hi cgw!
hi cgw
I know I've asked this before, but could I get a hint for the "e" in the left column?
i have no problem with it but then i hold on to the sensor bars and i don't go very fast
hello cgw8.
jmc you have a treadmill? :oO
el4/5
el5+6
no but the gym i go to does
el4.5 el & a greeting
Dang, gotta go. :|
e+anagram of the drug acid
bye cgw
treadmills/gyms are so silly... people sit and drive to the gym, just to run and get nowhere, when they can run and go somewhere... or run for free... :o/
better: e+mormon initials
Except for when you have to run in the dark or something like that, and then treadmills make sense. though I like running outside better, and surely do enough of it.
well if that is all i did i would agree with you dfm except when it is ra**ing or snowing
I like the commitment of a gym dfm
i don't go to the gym but i do walk about 5 miles every day
tl
oh yes weather concerns too. BUt I mostly use the treadmill for when I have to run at 5 am.
walking in the rain is fun :o/
i go there and do a lot of free weight work while my sister takes a class and it keeps us both on track
146 in, 146 out. hello!!
hello AG
depends on the ra** dfm and pb for you :-P
running 15 miles in the rain would have kiled me. then again, running 15 miles on a treadmill would have likewise killed me.
hi asg
I started yoga at the gym too a few weeks ago, rather like it though the instructor is a bit new agey...
ugh >.> I guess that's my first PB?
hi jac and jmc and rth too!
i like yoga but hate the instructors on a whole
hi asgreen, been a while...
i wouldn't know dfm-- is it?
yep, I fell off the babble wagon last week! lol
yes they are always sooo sort of well, odd.
hi all
hi carlee
hey green
must go get hair colored. BBL
hi carlee.
<-- has a GM script that scans his wordlist and prevents him from saying them... but at home, not at work...
bye mixi!
i was born without hip sockets and they never believe that i can't bend in certain directions even when i was smooth and svelte
hi carlee!
Know what you mean Red! My chiro is the same, but she knows me know and just laughs at herself when she 'tries' it on me
bye mixi
fun grid so far...but big
hi carl
very impressive dfm
jmc, its good you can walk at all...
wow jmc - is that a good or a bad thing
how is everyone?
i can't hack the new age stuff either
Hi Carlee
what lynxxx?
hiya hows things trix?
hmph, should really install it here too... eventually... (lazy)
the no sockets jmc
my hip sockets? i had braces from a few months to a few years old and they were sorta ground in
but i am fine just never have been able to touch my toes
did you wear a Pavlik Harness?
or sit with my legs straight out in front of me on the ground....that kind of thing
no clue red i have one photo -- actually the one your mother fixed for me-- with the braces
would make yoga difficult.
you should see my cobra though!
coba I like. I am starting to lose patience with downward dog.
my big fat belly gets in the way of downward dog
o.0 did I just spell "instal" as "install"? that is totally not like me...
i do okay on the cat arching one -- i forget the name
my weak arms get sore and sometimes my head gets swimmy.
you are just falling apart over there dfm
I blame my first PB moment!
lol then you will be more careful!
dfm the PB is nice and inviting anyway, so enjoy and restore yourself.
this grid is not nice
just don't put on those hot pants
lickety did come after all? praise be!
*hacks another GM script so he doesn't need to return (theoretically)*
really carl? I find it relaxing with lots of easy words
Hey now those pants are nice...
just add a gerund to everything
I have 98 left, no list. I do like this grid OK.
i have been
*watches in shock as his script breaks and dumps the wordlist in chat*
hi cosd
hi cos!
everything I have i have done so...not liking it tho
although i'm not ready to list. i have 82 so far and im not giving up - this grid is enjoyabke
don't even joke dfm i did that once accidently
Debating diving in or not, unsure if I have enough time today...
i blushed for days afterwords
<-- did not list, but there were so many clues given in the chog today it is almost as if he did...
you did? :oO must... see... chog... archive...
you finished dfm?
it goes pretty fast jilly
167 words here, no list yet, but getting tempted. When I walk away I end up reentering all the same words!
yep ^.^
I recall that jmc, we all chatted away to get rid of i...
i hate headcold
wtg!!!!
headcolds* even
*~*~*POMPOM TOSS*~*~*for dfm
then there was the time i set my laptop on the floor and accidentally set my foot on top of it and i dominated the chog with blanks for about 10 minutes
jmc when? :oP
congrats dfm!
i have one myself carlee.. but its getting better i hope ill be 100% by Thursday
lol jmc!
OK, will head off on errands and bbl to knuckle down...y'all have a good time!
*sigh* I have much to regret in babblelife
bye jilly
(I mean, the wordlist by the way) *wants to know all of jmc's embarassing moments :oP*
WooT WooT Woot dfm!!

*puts on a fa** mask to avoid cold germs*
aww carlee :o( and everyone else sick :o(
BBL you have all just reminded me I need to water the garden - going to be hot here today
oh go ahead..brag about how hot it is...
okay, the script I'm hacking BETTER not dump the wordlist...
I'm surprised that this year I have not come down ill yet. I credit the darn flu shot.
carlee it's not that cold is it :o/
carlee is in the cold place!

Cos, I had a friend who did time with a ca6/21. She let that go when she realized that his mistress was Lady Vodka.
Babblers, your mission for tonight, should you choose to accept it, is to accessorize the sauna pants. I'm thinking some neon orange Crocs for footwear.
lol molly :)
ok 113 words down. think it's time to list.

Hi all. I have some chocolate wine for the PB if needed!
bring it my way! NOW!

chocolate wine?? i am strangely intrigued and attracted and repulsed all at once
Tried it at the grocery store the other day. HAD to sample it. Yum! Although maybe better over ice cream...
it is very tasty jacq... goes with chocolate covered strawberries great
passes smelling salts and chocolate wine under krystens nose
Ooooh...great idea cos!
pumpkin pie wine is also DELISH
Never heard of such a thing!
i used to make my own wine, i dread to think how pumpkin pie is made into wine
we tried to make our own wine once.. it ended up disgusting lol
its a local wine champ.. mostly seen in farmlands like iowa, north dakota, nebraska and colorado
local delicaty i should say

happy babbling all
Sets off fireworks for peri!!!!
Night Peri
Have a lovely!
ty and night all
wtg peri
Poor cold Red. For me there is a world of difference between 50's and freezing.
indeed there is last year, when we norally have 50's it was in the 20-30...the people running disney marathon were pissed off...
I'm good with 50's or freezing as opposed to 80's which we had today. Yuck! not very festive.
80's are not festive...
we were 70's. fairly festive. cruddy ru but not the weathers fault. I thnk its the shoes.
Nothing better than new shoes!
I'll take your 50's for my 20's
Is it 20 during the day?
think we've actually warmed up to the low 30's, it's still snowing
SNOW! amazing...
My husband just came in from getting ice cream with my youngest daughter. Sleeveless shirt, shorts, and sandals.
I could go for that right this moment
kids are loving this weather though---school was cancelled AFTER most of the staff had finally made it to the school AND the busses had started pickiing up kids.....
That's the bummer...not being able to be organized about it. It's got to be hard to make the call...
That's true; it is hard to make that decision but I worry about kids whose parents may have left after making sure they were on the bus to discover kids were sent home to an empty house
That would not make me very happy, as a parent if my kids were still in school
Yes, after you fight your way in to work, only to get the call...there would be cursing! ;)
ok mini cheesecakes are inthe oven...1/2 hour
I am hating on the new shoes.
Did you switch brands entirely?
I was finding my old shoes sort of hard and unyielding, but the new asics seem to be giving me a shin splint....
ugh. hate that!
McCurl, that happened here once. Storm hit around 6:15AM, when the high school buses were already on the road. They all phoned in that it was way too dangerous for driving and middle school and elementary were then closed. Parental outrage was HUGE. Me, I don't put my kid on the road in weather like that, whether the buses are running or not.
You go girl!!!
I was having trouble with a knee so I bought a pair of the sketchers shape ups and was so thrilled that I've gotten three other styles
giving them one more short (4 mi ) run and if they dont shape up, they will become expensive work shoes, they are super comfortable for walking, like slippers... but ordering new Mizunos this weekend anyway, apparently they are my shoe, still.
Haven't heard of them helping with knees, but that's great!
Haven't heard of them helping with knees, but that's great!
our district made the call for a 2 hour late start last night at nearly 8 pm and waited until after 8:30 am to close school.....as a school employee, I was not thrilled at having slogged my way to work
mccurl, I can not imagine 20's major issues would occurr.
yeah, red; just a little cold!
I make my own decisions about weather based on safety. My employer is not going to pay for auto body work or injuries.
I'm really glad that weather is usually not an issue here, but I live 2.2 miles from my job so I guess walking is always an option, sometimes I feel silly driving...
Bike? Great cross training. Although if I biked 2.2 miles I'd smell for the rest of the day. No shower at the office.
Oh Red! I would love living that close to work. My boss lives even closer (about three blocks) and she always drives.
I occasionally ride our transit if I'm worried about driving but sometimes they aren't much safer.
Sadly, and ashamed, i do not know how to ride a bocycle at all...
I do love it Molly. makes doing 4 hrs of overtime easy choice.
You can do it, although it might take a bit of practice.
ryan works 1 block away he walks since hes not legally allowed to drive.. it takes all but 1 minute :) so he's always the first one they call if they need a replacement
oops bicycle.
Red! A Vespa and a long flowing scarf. : D
Ooooh...great idea! very snazzy.
ooooh. but I doubt I could balance a vespa!
i do drive a prius so at least I am slightly not burning too much gas.
fill the tank literally once a month.
Jealous!
the 2nd ca7?
the positive terminal of a battery?
no i think its an old version of horse carriage?
or maybe both?
hi cos!
hello!
the 2nd ca7 I have is present tense (gerund?) of using a ca4
theres another ca7 before that
I have 5x ca7...

I have 6X ca7

Hi crossy :-) How's your Monday been ?
I needed it! TY Molly!
molly wha is the letter count of what yo clued? could not get ti to accept
not bad at all diane, busy as always, but i have a little something here for all grandparents that i thought you would like....
Only wishing I was a Grandma. Kids married three years, and now that nurse girlie is going back to school to further her nursing degree, more waiting. : (
A grandmother and a little girl whose face was sprinkled with bright red freckles spent the day at the zoo. The children were waiting in line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger paws. "You've got so many freckles, there's no place to paint!" a boy in the line cried. Embarrassed, the little girl dropped her head. Her grandmother knelt down next to her. "I love your freckles," she said. "Not me," the girl replied. "Well, when I was a little girl I always wanted freckles" she said, tracing her finger across the child's cheek. "Freckles are beautiful!" The girl looked up. "Really?" "Of course," said the grandmother. "Why, just name me one thing that's prettier than freckles." The little girl peered into the old woman's smiling face. "Wrinkles," she answered softly.
Oh Crossy!!!!! Beautiful!
TO, try Spanish cheer at the end
OOOOhhhh Crossy...that was very touching...I will copy and paste and use at my youth ministry sometime...
Sorry, my bad.
now lost
hey crossy! Ole!
TO, try spies are sometimes referred to as m***s at the end.
howdy pav
Crossy, that is one that I've saved in my files... It's wonderful !
cheesecakes calling...brb
no, the pieces do not fit. need the whole
aw thats a beautiful story although it reminds me of a story of when i was a kid
or i can wait and maybe i will find it
ca 7/32...c + Mr. Onasis + D*** pinapple.
ca 7/32....c + Mr. Onasis + spanish cheer
My brother and I were kids.. maybe 8? or 9? we were watching tv and someone said bigot.. and he asked me what that meant... I said a stupid little kid with freckles (he had freckles). he cried. lol

My grandma used to give me recipes and leave things out all the time!!! Accidentally, on purpose I think. ;)

lol champ.. she died when i got the recipe.. i think it's missing her love she put in it :)
plurals are always easy to miss glad to help
I knew what you meant. No one cooks like grandma!
my mother in law always leaves out a snall ingedient in hers, the recepie will still work, but not taste the same without it
small
add a const. to the end of co4/6 b4 it
what is cherry slice?
its like.. umm idk how to explain it
mix butter, sugar, flour a few other stuff, top it with dollops of cherry pie filling, bake. then sprinkle powdered sugar on top
i am considering pumpkin maple bread pudding
does the bread have to be stale?
like a mash or cobbler
it's better stale but..
They always say so. Leave it out tonight.
what i do is i go to the old bread discount store and buy stale rbead there
stale/dried bread usually absorbs more moisture than fresh bread...
i am goign to pepperidge farm outlet
heres a picture of a cherry slice but mine looks diffeerent http://www.themillhousehomebaking.co.u k/uploads/images/Gallery/traybakes/che rry-slice.jpg
I bought mini cream puffs already made at Costco. Asked a chef friend of mine what to do with them, and now she wants me to buy a styrofoam cone and toothpick them onto it like a tree, and drizzle 'em with chocolate...fancypants!
I have a recipe for capirotada = spanish bread pudding, my grandma used to make...bread, raisins, cheese, apples,
lol champ
not working, cos. tiny url
Seriously!!!

sharp cheddar...to offset the sweetness of the raisins and apples
http://tinyurl.com/2fvkvvy
let me check on my cheesecakes...they smell yummy already...!
yep, looks like a cobbler or crumble...
its not though
its a cake really
no crunch in it.. it tastes like a cake with cherry filling on top
this is all making my mouth water.... yummmmy
I made macaroni and cheese in a crockpot today!
anyone have a simple easy shortbread cookie recipe? i found one that just needs sugar, butter and flour
that doesnt seem right?
missing a TBSP of water or two...
ok thanks
the cheesecakes look fine....another 15 mins before I turn the oven off...
yes very little water if any. i have a recipe but have not used yet
a friend of mine uses mini cookie cutters for shortbread cookies and i want to try that out
hello everyone! OMG the top news here is about the TSA procedures for the airports ...I personally don't care, as long as I get to my destination safe and sound.
well they made a woman take her plastic silicone out of her bra in front of several guards
a breast cancer survivor.
I used to like Janet Napolitino.. but now.. ugh.
whaat?
How shameful
And the guy with the colostomy bag which they broke, and he went around wet and smelly and humiliated. nice.
I have to do the pat down due to my fake knees, and my dog that comes with me is even patted down. oh well. Comes with all the crazies out there
cos...no water...just checked...1 cup butter, 1 1/2 cup flour 1/2 cup sugar...
i was just typing that Champ!
hi all -- back for the last 40
ty PAV thats what I saw as well
It's ridiculous. So glad I'm not flying!
google millionaire's shortbread recipe
shoshoo: won't tthe scan show your knees?
i googled cook.com it had that recipe PAV mentioned but I will check that out too TO
I hadn't heard about those situations. I guess it depends on what news you listen to.
depends on which airport you are at.
i think it would be very easy and efficient to hide explosives in a protheses. esp a breast.
I just noticed I am < 100 to go!
If you listen to fox network it's all crap anyway.
And now Homeland Security says if you refuse a pat down and leave the airport you will be jailed.. possibily indefinitely
oh i am watching nationl news all about that and no mention of jailing
just don't fly people!
scottish shortbread: 2 cups flour, 1/2 butter, 1/4 cup icing sugar, 1/4 cup granulated or berry sugar or splenda. Knead until the dough feels silky and comes cleanly from the edges and bottom of bowl.
this wasnt on Fox. I refuse to watch Faux News. I watch MSNBC.
What a sad world we live in. And to think my biggest complaint was the cost of the dog inflight airfair!!!
i am watching abc
let me find the article TO
thanks, cyber
no s'ok cos i dont' care

I just saw an article where this TSA Guy is being charged with child molestation after aggressively patting down a kid
if i were going i would take the train though i am sure they are targeted
reading back,i have some stainless steel screws and surgical pins in my left leg from getting run over years ago and what i did was get the hospital to provide me with a computer disk with 2 x-ray and 2 ct scan images of it on the disk when i travel by air...i never have a problem...
Divide dough in half and shape into blocks about 2 inches wide and 3/4 inch thick. Prick with a fork (I do three across), refridgerate for at least one hour, Bake at 300F for one hour. Make at least 3 weeks before serving. Store in a tin, or wrap in foil. Those big square cracker tins hold 3 batches.
well that is just plain nuts cos
thanks nan! I'll cut and paste that
TO, report to the PB,and have some cookies...they're only a day old...!
hey crossie!
scottish shortbread: 2 cups flour, 1/2 butter, 1/4 cup icing sugar, 1/4 cup granulated or berry sugar or splenda. Knead until the dough feels silky and comes cleanly from the edges and bottom of bowl. Those big square cracker tins hold 3 batches.
howdy blueheron;)
hi blue!
ok time to prepare the veggies, dinner nearly ready
hey pav!
Shortbread , this is the best receipe I have ever tried and with a Scottish dad I have tried many 1and 3/4 cups plain flour 1/2 cup cornflour 3/4 cup icing sugar 250gms butter [ 8 ounces] cream butter and sugar, add flours, shape into log and wrap in plastic wrap and refridgerate until firm, cut into about 1cm slices and bake mod. oven about 12 minutes. This recipe is from Andree (ij Sydney) Very yummy - I made about 200 shortbreads from it last Xmas
oh -- one more thing on the shortbread -- be sure to cut it into bars when it first comes out of the oven and use a really sharp fine-blade knife. Cool on cookie racks
crossy c+ps that amazing looking shortbread receipe
hi lyn
hi TOwl
lyn do you decorate them?
clue for the first co 5/12?
I'll say this about the TSA griping, and then I will shut up. How soon people have forgotten why all these security measures are in place. How soon people have forgotten about all those people who died on September 11, 2001. If you don't like the security measures that have been put in place since then, quit your bitching and don't fly. *Steps off soapbox*
Hello...
co 5/12 add a vowel to the outerwear above it
I dipped half in a dark chocolate - gave jars of them as gifts
that sounds yummy lynxxx...will try that this year...
Hello Jellen
Hey crossie, you will not believe what I saw in a catalog today. Bacon Bandaids!!!
What??????????
yup..have some blueheron;))
Oh Blue, please don't encourage him
Thank-you Molly!
i agree molly.
like i say molly i carry 4 images on disk and breeze right through
ty heron :/
You can't eat them of course, but they look like bacon!!!
Ohhhhh...takes me a minute...
It just annoys me what petulant babies some people can be. It's all about them and how quickly they want to get somewhere.
i have learned never to sweat the small stuff
Bacon is IN!!!!!!!\
bacon!!! where??!
Hate to break in, but need ca8/50 please?
i can not watch the beggin strips commercial without picturing crossy similarly pleading
a clue for the he 6/27, please?
bacon has been "in" for me since about 1966 blueheron lol
OOOOHHHHHH YYYYEEEEAAAAHHHHH! cheesecakes are looking and smellin' mighty fine...
ca 8/50 pt. of what milk can come in
I agree molly. "If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen" :)
WHOOPS...make that ca7/40...the last
It's NOT The fact that there's pat downs. It's the fact that they're being ridiculous about it. Making a man pee all over himself and then laughing about it? That's the issue. Security measures are always needed especially after 9/11. I won't say anymore without offending anyone re: 9/11 - a tragedy itself. ANyway. back to the grid.
lol T.O
clue for the co5/12.. the one after the game co7/32?
my biggest complaint is they wont let me bring bacon with me in my carry on;((...whine....
he6.27 he & the start of the long necked animal
co 5/12 c + double vowels + double vowels
Where are you getting your information Cos? Or did you actually witness this in an airport?
ty lynxxx
Blue, I heard it on local news this am. here in Houston.
ok
CNN, MSNBC, local news, newspapers.
anyways,i am off for a bit, must hunt down something with essence of bacon...poof!
bye Cross
ty luv.. would have never guessed that
bye, and good luck!
bye crossie
Bye, crossy
yw cos
nbt
add gerund for the co8 after that
I for one wish folks would get back to normal and start celebrating my BD as it was before...I don't fly nowadays, but the last time I did, I was body searched...shoes off etc., and I had to show my doc's prescription for my C-PAP machine..it was my only carryon.
That's so wrong pav.
must have been a very strict search PAV, hubby & I just flew in from FLA with his CPAC machine and all he had to do was take it apart and run it through x-ray machine
i'm 100% totally fine with them searching my laptop. i have no issues with that. nor my carryon. but to make someone pee on himself when he has a bladder infection. then he has to go on the plane smelling like urine? thats what I Have an issue with.
it was in 2006, so some things have laxed...and then others not so much...and now with the poopies, I don't go very far anywhoooo
anyway i'll shut up. i liked it better when we were talking about food!
I agree with you cos.
ok so mom's call Cos,,,about dinner Thursday?
sounds good!
i just saw a man whose bladder bag they broke. not a bladder infection. may i make a case for the quality of reporting?
no mom live sin chicago.. im not going.. she called to see if i watched undercover boss. i told her no. she got mad and said ok bye lol
because it sucks. nobody take the time to verify and get it right. it's all about the scoop.
come on over Cos, I'm a Mom:)
dinner time *jumps off soap box*
speaking of which TO... lol.... i was watching a tv show yesterday and they had this "facts about the stars in the shows" ... and the fact was 100% incorrect. it made me mad lol
good eating TO...
on my way over blue lol :)
we're here Cos!!!
where are you Cos?
whats for dinner?
colorado
where in colorado?
colorado springs :)
Okay, lets get the story straight. This is not about a man who was "forced to pee all over himself". This was about a man wearing a urostomy bag due to bladder cancer. TSA officials ignored his claim to that, ruptured the bag, and the man was then soaked in urine. After that happened, TSA should have responded in kind. They did not. And for that, they are at fault. We can't let this one story alter security screening for people who fly.
nice area I assume?
How did the TSA people rupture his bag, is what I'm wondering
That's apparently due to their frisking or patting getting out of hand, hence the freaking out.
Too rough of a pat down, Lil. Those bags can't take much pressure. They aren't meant to.
Hmmm that sounds unlikely... how could frisking rupture his bag? those things are pretty heavy duty
yay I'm > 200..89 left!!
Good for you!
is there a list?
ok back...
Lickety is up
tempting...
Red, I'm loving the wonder sauna hot pants
(((monkey!!!)))
oh? yay Lickety!...I'm ti6 meself out....
yes i was so sick of the boat which for an icon day that i didnt really enjoy...
It wasn't the bag that ruptured, it was the seal that broke. That is, if you believe everything you read on the internet or hear on the news.
and lil' bit is here tooo!
I will take those sauna pants lil
another cause for outrage? the politicians are bypassed from searching. especially speaker-elect boehner.
anyway ill bbl.. time to make cookies
hey pav!!
I stocked up the PB with them.
I thought we were going to talk about food? Yum, ym=um!
and in a few more words, I'll have to finish putting together the whoopie pies I made earlier...cream filling!
with 87 left, and listless I believe I ne** to either go to list or stop for a bit...
My son has a titanium pin in his hip. My boss has a pacemaker. Those two always have to go through "extra searches" because of their issues. It's just the way it is.
of course they are cos. Boehner needs a strip search. Then we will actually see the sh4 that he strews.
And if anyone, including politicians are exempt from security procedures, that is just wrong. I guess we will have to have another national disaster to make that go away.
Evening all. May I please have a clue for ti6-24? I"ve tried everything...thanks
87 meself...when I return I'll be using hte list...
pav are you still baking?
I'll be baking all week...
Gerund end GAPeach of weary
this grid is ti6 me out ... think I'll go get the list
peach...this grid can become very ti6 unless you have loads of energy
hate to ask for a clue on my last one, but monkeys are tired --- hi 6/27 - first one?
still to come...mango cheesecakes ,and a pineapple upside down cake, double layer
Oh, gee whiz! Thanks much lynxxx, wildcat17 and PAV .

Looking at it...

keeping an *** out for it, looking at it
off to walk the dogs and flip my cheesecakes! the big test to see if I made these correctly...nan- gerund ending, and add a vowEl
I believe it is...unless you put tons and tons of butter in it, which...but still yes when I made it is was a bit crumbly.
Not with the recipe I used Cos
red! more cookies for the PB please...
ok ill add alittle more butter
LOLOL, I supply hot pants, not food.
I would go with Lynxx's advice. I am not a good chef or baker!
brb
ah -- ty vm
*!* ta da *!*
what in the world is today's theme?
lynx what was ur recipe again? :)
Nan...beauty of an icon!
clue for the last co6?
no the dough should not be crumbly -- it should be smooth and silky feeling -- the key to good shortbread is lots of kneading. (and you must use butter)
yeah ill try again! thanks :)
I will put the recipe in my profile.
Cos, try adding a bit more butter or margarine. Too crumbly means too dry. Do that in bits at a time until your dough is moist.
thanks molly
perfect nan so i can print it
ok down to 81....blech.
cos you are not baking and babbling?
yes i am lol
well i was.
And then mix, mix, mix Cos. Nan is right, the dough should be smooth.
il wait til tomorrow. i need to get more stuff from the store but the advice is needed

Luv I'm really glad you enjoyed the West coast of Florida, post oil spill there has been a lot of economic issues.
hmmmm anyone have the fr4/7?
does anyone have a clue for the ca7/40? (the last ca word)
Do you know when the paper will be out?
tomorrow i believe
yes many young guys in college belong to one of these.
jilli , fr + common pronoun
ca 7/40....ca 5/14 + past tense ending
that was fr4/7 for jillyjill
hi lil*monkey!
helloooooooooooo peeps
and just what is the ca 5/14?

I agree

You just gotta love Red. Ma7/32's all around and sauna pants in one day.
well instead of the pin, some people Ca***** in a movie. a different word for starred.
IDK red i don't think that is a real word lol
DWTS finale is about to start

Losing it...sorry again!
I don't watch Dancing With The Stars, but I would love to see shows like this, and American Idol based on talent instead of fixed, call in voting.
is Bristol Palin still dancing?
Oh...the boys are restless....
red, she is still on the show
wow.
How about Jennifer Grey?
I dont watch either, but I have heard of the controversy.
big controversy as to WHY bristol is still on the show.... mommy is influencing the vote, evidently
Yes Red, Palin is still in contention. And thoughts are that she will win, simply because of the massive call in campaign.
yes, Jennifer Grey is still on, as is Kyle
Yeah!
Well, the Orlando Magic are playing san antonio in a half an hour....
last week, when Birstol was NOT voted off, some nutcase shot a gun into his TV
probably also fixed, but...
1/2 way and time to dine...bbs
i thought the nutcase was maybe in his right mind.
lol agreed red.
yes, red! LOL
bye Jilly!
Wahooey! Zach (my 8yo) just found FR 6/36 for me!!!
i dont own a gun. never will. but if i had a gun... and i saw the palins on tv, i'd shoot it too
good job Zach!
I dont have it yet!
I am so proud!
I have to wonder why Bristol was ever invited on the show in the first place. Talent shows should not involve anyone with political affiliation.
lol car. thats the word i just found as well.. b/c of the gun talk :P
well i'm off to watch... night everybody
why isn't oodle a word?
Night!
Good evening everyone!
night monkey.
you can't have just one?
hi brookie!
Hi red!
Looks like a good grid today.
Hi Brookie!
Hi all, how is BabbleLand tonight?
phantom fraction
my big phantom: doctor
Hi car.eeyore!
Hi WHT!
Voting for oodle to be a recognized word. And offering up my disdain for Soodle to be included in the grid without bum after it. : P
Hi wht!
like trews. or trousers, it's a....always "S" plural. (and no, i don't know why i can only come up with pants as references tonight)
if we include soodle we also need to include trif.
hi wht.
Well, oodles would be accepted if it were in the grid.
yeah. but trew wouldn't. same thing.
Clue for the first fr 6/30 please?
I don't have that yet, car.
fr 6/36?
fr + what you do on stage in a plat + middle vowel
Boo! I gave you a FR 6/36!

Hey, there is an Italian sports car in the grid.
Start it, nef. Enjoy the game, regardless of the ending.
thanks, Brookie. I just hate starting grids that are evil.
This grid is more big than evil.
It is not evil at all Nef...very manageable.
The small ones tend to be evil. When they are big, there are bound to be words you can find.
Okay, then. Diving in! :-D
he 6/27 please?
hi all...132 left and here to list.
The trip to Mecca, car.
he 6/27....he + ***l not boy + first vowel
TY Molly! Never would have gotten that one!
Thanks for the clue, Molly!
Don't you use that word in all your everyday conversation? Yeesh.
I used to, when I was 2 years old, but my friends in daycare didn't understand me, so I stopped using it.
I'm convinced that this game is geared to people who memorize the dictionary for Scrabble.
Good point!
I agree MOlly!!!

They are the ones who log in at 1:15 AM and then say FIREWORKS at 1:30. Right.

There is a very disturbing parallel Universe somewhere, in which they speak all these nonsensical Babble words on an everyday basis.

Red...the words keep getting odder and odder...as Willy Wonka said...there is no Earthly way of knowing....in which direction we are going...
I think sometimes the grid hears us complaining about what words are legal sometimes and just refuses to take the good ones out of spite.
great quote for this grid molly

YW
tom is home. says he is sure the generator will start. So now I am merely hoping the power stays on until the load that is currently in the washer is fully dried...
*sigh of relief*
I think the children probably won't have school tomorrow. the roads are already icy -- REALLY icy and it's only going to get colder.
our rural district won't have all the roads passable for a couple of days.
stid -- isit windy?
oh my, got the oo6!
off and on jill -- will have big gusts later they just said on the news -- our actual home should be fine from the wind, but usually Mother's gets the blast from the north.
oo6? *curious look*
Hello...
GOT IT!
hey JELLEN!!!! (((hugs and hot cocoa)))
hi Jellen :-)
We're supposed to get high winds, and with heavy snow frozen to pines , there could be lots of damage.
Hi Jellen!
Hi Jellen
It was unseasonably warm here today...
hi Jellen
yes, the firs around here handle either snow OR wind pretty well, but double-whammies are bad
LOL jellen! *offers lemonade instead*
oh jellen, don't torture us!
Hi friends.....Stid, how much snow your way?
I meant firs (still thinking East)
do5's anyone ? please!!!!!!!!
hey mcurl! about 3 inches on the ground at home
1" at mother's on the water -- other side of the peninsula

clue for the first fa 6/33
ah -- yes, I think I am more worried about ice on the roads tomorrow than anything -- there is a quarter-mile stretch along the primary road that is a slick surface like a well-groomed ice-skating rink in weather like this
so fa* so good and gerund
ra7 is a compound word. It's where my $ goes

i love Sweet Tomatoes, Pav
Good night all, happy Babbling.
G'nite.Sweet dreams
Good night, wht!
aI love their chili...my neighbor wants my chili recipe that I cooked up from the Bear Creek "just add water and tomato paste" variety....I don't have the heart to tell her it wasn't homemade. mostly 'cuz she can't cook anyway so what's the deal?
My bladder is about to explode. Excuse me.
that's a good story pav3; reminds me of the lady that wanted my sister's chocolate cream pie recipe---jello chocolate pudding in a pie shell topped with cool whip---she couldn't believe it
I do have a receipe...but I told her I added and omitted, so I'll never be able to replicate it...
your secret is safe! ;-)
I love to bake from scratch, but there are times when speed is of the essence...and partially made works best
I agree and take that same path myself!
e.g. the Bacardi Rum cake that my family all love, starts with a golden cake mix !
and the same for the pineapple upside down cake I am to make for din Thursday...Betty Crocker is my hera!
I make that from my mom's recipe from the 50's..... and her lazy daisy cake too...
I love my mom's big red Betty Crocker cookbook; I know it's in reprint and keep "wish listing" it for christmas!
I love to cook and bake, and I really miss having a bunch to cook for. This afternoon I made cookies, but they are all going to the grandkids who still take lunches .
I tood advantage of my no school for snow day and mixed up some ginger snap cookies to bake for my hairdresser.....she's changed my appt so many times this week for my schedule it's the least I could do!
don't get wrong!...when I to4 my friends I'd show their son how to bake an angel food cake, we made two from scratch..they were surprised, thinking I'd use a box mix...some foods can't be prepared from boxes, and lessons on how to are too often cut short when you are learning...they loved them btw
I have too many cookbooks ... yikes ! I've been typing up many of mine and saving on the computer.
I still remember making a chiffon cake with my mom... we had no power on the farm at that time, so the eggwhites had to be beaten by rotary hand beater.... that was my job !!
hi all
that's true pav; but it's nice to have a "shortcut" in a pinch for time.
I have an old photo album of recipes
hiya jm
sigh i am a "what's in the ice box and I will mix it up" cook
I remember the days of working the rotary hand beater. My least favorite was whipping cream!
then people ask for the recipe and I have no clue
wait a minute----my mom still makes us use the rotary hand beater; what am I talking about!!LOL
ac5?
I still use mine too mcurl, but NOT for whipped cream
performing on stage.... drop the last consonant

Joey, you can sing Amazing Grace to the tune of the House of the Rising Sun....lol
LOL had to throw in another oldie! LOL

I've never had a "professional" massage....
depends on how you define professional
oohhh diane, you don't know what you are missing...i get one a year!
meaning anyone other than my hubby .... but I've been told they are wonderful.
took a massage class once in college..undergrad...the instructor specialised in foot massages...vary relaxing and ticklish all at once..unnerving

My grandkids do that for me.... I love it
I married at 20... NO experience LOL ... been married for 50 years last May

excellent!
i am doing some work on my house
so diane and joey are you folding at home?
thanks diane.
jmc, what do you mean "folding at home"?
not yet.... Crossy told me that you would be a gentle ambassador... encouraging the folding program. I honestly will think about it.
i kept saying th***s like i wanted to reuse my sink and he kept saying it may cost more than getting a new one and i said i have been recycling since before you were born
folding at home uses the unused bandwidth of your computer to help fold proteins which scientist feel will lead to the cure for cancer and Alzheimers and other such
joining a program out of Stanford University, that enables people to let their band width be used for folding protein for cancer research
it only takes a few minutes to set it up on your computer and we have a babble team -- check out info in my icon
I am sorry, I never heard of that before. HOw do you sign up ? nm
well really it just refers you to crossy's icon.

I'm afraid that I don't have anything going on in 'standby' because I unplug everything that isn't being used. It's not only more earth friendly, but it saves on the bills.
lo5 12 before the lake bird?
i have to leave my computer at work on for the backup system to work
If you knew how much unecessary electricity things on standby use, you probably would unplug them.
but it just runs while i am on the computer on the other two
It's time the USA caught up with this.
actually my computer in my home office is on a plug that turns everyth*** off when i turn the computer off
Last TV we bought doesn't have an OFF switch, just goes to standby. So it has to be unplugged. How not green is that?
If a plug is still plugged in, then it is still draining some power.
heavens! you wait for your tv to warm up? how retro
No, I didn't say that, jmc. it's not a valve set. But it's time the usa caught on that using too much power, when unecessary, is not good.

jmc - I did say the USA. I didn't hold you personally responsible.
:-)
So. jmc, if your electricity bill is high, unplug your computer/s.
but it is not high that was my point
and actually I was saying earlier that I was talking with an architect today about installing solar panels
jmc - but if you unplugged it, there'd be even less power drained from the world resources.
:-P
And we wouldn't be wasting power argueing about it. LOL!
if no clue for the lo5 12, how about a clue for the od words? please ?
Pav - Hello. lo5/12 is the past tense of 'went to the potty or the toilet'.
lo 5/12 adds a consonant to the lo 4/5
okay how can you have a gerund to someone who inherits?
the od 5 & 6 are names of cinemas.
really people say lo5/12??
thanks Jac...and again for the o's

I'm only still here at this time of the morning because my stepdaughter has aannoyed me so much by self-diagnosing on Google, her imagination knows no bounds, she's that good she convinces herself she is ill. Plumbum oscillans! And then, when news came through os the first holiday abroad she might have had, which I moved heaven and earth to arrange, she said she might not want to go because some bloody pop group she likes were playing in UK and perhaps she might be allowed to go. When asked by me if she wanted the holiday abroad she'd formerly begged for, I got a shrug as an answer, Is it any wonder I snapped at her? Beloved (her Dad) got mad at me when I snapped at her. Well, that makes a change; it'ds usually me telling him he shouldn't have been so impatient with her.
May I please have a clue for ca7-40 the 3rd? Thanks

Maybe we should ask Lickety, whose list I sometimes use, to set up a new site for us?
What is the point of doing a game or puzzle if it's all made as easy as possible? Surely the point of doing it is to stretch your mind, or pit it against others?
some people stretch sooner than others

jmc - do you mean some peopl;e are more dense than other people?
sure i will confess to being more dense than many of the other babblers but i have never felt looked down upon
have you seen Babbler Brookie's silver medal winning speech?
yes i thought it very cute
I think she speaks for most 'old style' Bablblers.
really?
It wasn't 'cute' - it was very clever.
i must have seen a different speech
(sorry - was distracted with phone call from dau)
I'd like to say something now, but I don't think I will. Goodnight all.
shoot - I have 29 left, but it's my husband's bday in 25 mins....ugh
I'm sorry...did I interrupt something?
goodnight jac i hope tomorrow goes better for you
then you have 25 minutes left asg
jac was in a sour mood pini
lol jmc, ok ok...sneaking all this in anyway....
I'm sorry to hear that, jmc...
she was catching hell from hubby and step-dau
go asg go
never a good thing!
git'r dun, AsG
anyway she felt i was baiting her --which i wasn't-- and went off on me -- so i more or less kept quiet but not completely
i am not as good at keeping quiet as some babblers are
You? go off? wow...hard to believe (especially having met you!)
I didn't go off-- she did
od5?
*not getting caught up in discussion, though intriguing* (have too many words to get)
anyway I am sure tomorrow she will be in a better mood -- at least i hope so
Well, I wouldn't think you'd be inclined to bait anyone either...we were roomies after all...
you're pretty harmless! :)
od + long time
can help if needed, AsG
i rarely bait people -- its not my style
on the other hand i rarely back down either -- someth*** i ne** to cultivate
don't want to be thought of "new school"...lol
and we're back! 26 left to find...r's s's an d t's

If I recall correctly, there was a time before Lickety's listing...
I ne** a slew of ra words
falling asleep again, dfm?
hi Pav ;)
no pini that would be zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
ri6 27?
hi Pini!
I just want to make a comment.... still being somewhat of a newcomer. Nowhere did I see a list of rules or guidelines governing how clues might or might not be offered. I just went along with what I have witnessed in chat. My thought on it is that some newcomers, who have not played many word games at all in their lives, should be encouraged, and if helping is one of those encouragements, so be it !
ri5 + vowel
I tried that last time with two hours' worth of "G"s and it froze my window for five minutes, I think four hours of 'Y's would be worse!
a british saying meaning okay i will do that
hi di (agreed)
thanks Pini...I just remembered, i hadit beforetaking Joey out...duh...I think I need some ra's
(hi pini :o) and everyone else)
diane jac was having a bad day -- some older babblers do prefer to have clues that are only the meaning of the word but they usually play at a different time
<-- uses cryptic crossword hints as clues, can't get any worse than that! :oO
I try not to ask unless pressed, and I also try not to list until I've absolutely run out my options.... but I would never "lord it" over anyone
4 hours of Ys? sorry I didn't understand that
I don't particularly care much for letter-by-letter spelling out, but sometimes ya just gotta go there...
<-- likes definition and etymology hints, but nobody gives those... :o(
I would if I knew that many words, dfm! :)
co 6/7 before the silly vowelish ones?
<-- flunked Spelling Bee
everyone plays at th*** own pace and in th*** own way -- personally i never use morewords
I love your clues dfm, but they take some thinking up to be sure. By the time I've thought of a very cryptic one, there have been many clues, and the game has moved on.
jmc I fell asleep with my finger on the "T" key, which is the "Y" key in Dvorak... while the cursor was, thankfully, in the Add Word box.
n/m got it
make feel better and a tv stand asg
ri6 27 jmc...they do play at diff hours of hte day and value their points...cryptic clues are often better because this is a brain game after all. and not necessarily a spelling game...lord knows the dictionary isn;t quite as useful either
thx tho jmc
I don't know of any help aids on here, other than Lickety's and asking
ah glad you didn't hit enter then
there is morewords which some use
some use a-z, reverse dictionary...
e.g This was in a cryptic puzzle I did today.... " I am going around in torn clothing" and the answer is a 7 letter word
i like the meaning clues but really don't worry about it since to me it is about having fun and if it is not fun i am not doing it
facepalm
Back again...
poor th5, Joey had no idea he's going in for dental work tomorrow...but teeth infections can be tricky...
raiment

hi jell

Diane! So did my Dad!
<-- does TorStar cryptics weekly (when he's close enough, unlike this work term!), and also cryptics at his university :oD
rhymes with not small or big flat boat
ty pini
unfortunately I can't get all the good newspaper ones online; I guess they don't post them. I sometimes buy the tab "International Express" just for the puzzles.
one of my sisters lives up high, overlooking Cordova bay, steep driveway, and sometimes have had to park on Lochside for several days !
I think her power might be off right now - outage that area
I guess I shouldn't be looking for any more puzzles and word games... I sometimes neglect th5/16 s

whatev - I am half asleep - I didn't notice you chiming in with anything decent
which half?
clearly the brain
this board is annoying me....thinking of just waiting for the new one
other than the c's. this was a pretty fun grid
it isn't bad, crystal - but if you just started, you are unlikely to finish by 12
i started it yesterday lol
just ordered a case and a half from sonoma, ru... trying to support y'all's dying economy over there in CA
of what?
mixed bottles from frick
oh.. petite sirah?

or counoise?
it is 1 30 pm
syrah, C3, carignanne, voignier, grenache blanc
carignane I bet is nice
very
very rich and full
Kenefick Ranch makes the best grenache blanc
the C3 is a nice rhone like blend that I use as my house wine - goes with everything
not familiar with kenefick - will check it out
I used to buy the Frick wines.. when they were in Santa Crux
santa cruz that is
Kenefick calls it Propietary White.. it is Grenache Blanc and Viognier and Roussane and Marsanne.. it is fabu
ruru is just so silly! :oP
I do not see grenache blanc on the kenefick site
wait, that might sound like a compliment. :o/
silly?
ok, will check again
nope, don't see it - but sounds great - some of my fave grapes
hmmm.. I should send you one..to try.
I bought a case of it
I love rhone blends
actually my faves
I never turn down wine... but then you will just create a taste for something I cannot get!
but.. then... you will have something to compare frick to
hello all
hiya cos
hi cos!
when was frick in santa cruz - i thought he started his winery in dry creek in the 70s
I also just received some zins and sangiovese from seghesio
I also just received some zins and sangiovese from seghesio
I love Seghesio zin
especially the plain Sonoma
that sangiovese is the best thing with tomato-based pasta sauces

he is in geyserville - stopped by there my last trip out
