2 cups chopped turkey (deboned, skinned) - placed in crockpot; saute 2 cups chopped celery, garlic, 1 large onion diced; and 4 large carrots sliced; add to crock pot. Add 1 can whole kernel corn (drained); 1 can Red Gold diced tomatoes (not drained); 1 carton of Swanson chicken broth (low salt, no MSG). I added salt, black pepper, red pepper, dash of paprika, parsley, marjoram, basil, teeny bit of thyme and cooked it all day in the crock pot.

106 and have come to a complete halt.

aiden's green bean recipe uses marjoram. it's SO tasty. But we couldn't find marconi almonds..used pine nuts instead.

Hey
I am just enjoying the rediscovery of my podcasts
There is another 4 to 4/7
also one of the to4 can be pluralled
Hi Lynxx you didn't float away with that rain?
also to5.10
Hi Infernal and all
both to4s can be pluralised
hello all
enjoying it while we can Infernal - they say it is going to get hot & dry
Howdy and G'bye. BBL
They can too -- thanks Kallia
I don't mind hot it is the humid that is yuk
yw
anyone got the n from the bottom right?
not me, but I'll have another look too
Think of someone good with poetry but with a starting n
TY Sara
got it ty Sar :)
ooops Sara
hello again
hello Ruby
hi Ruby
Hi frozen Ruby
blizzard is continuing. Fortunately, we have food in the house
more than a foot and no signs of it stopping
and 2 large furry dogs to cuddle up with
they haven't plowed our little road, so we're basically stuck
Ruby it is amazing what you can do with canned foods :D
All else fails I guess you could freeze food outside (extra freezer room)
does anybody know a medicatyionfor dogs for a sore foot, itchy too, that won't hurt them if they lick it off. I am afraid to use a cortisone cream and we can't get to the vet.
that is called a French fridge, herrin, lol
PawPaw cream is good Ruby
Try bathing in warm salted water perhaps - should dry the feet out too. If my other dog had wounds that were festering I used to wash with peroxide, watered down it wouldn't hurt if they licked it
Depends why the dog is itching. Is it a ''I am nuts and have to chew my foot'' or is it ''this is itching because there is an irritant''
I will will look for PawPaw cream and will buy peroxide if we can ever get out of the house!
for Max, it's because he's nuts, and has OCD and autism. But with Ruby, it is something else
Probably wet from the snow! need to dry the feet out
she was biting her foot for two days before I could locate the problem (last night), and she won't let me touch it
teaspoon of salt in a glass of hot water to dissolve - usually soothing as well as healing. Good for eyes too
As Lynxx said the salted water is great. IF you can blow dry the foot after. My cat likes the blow dryer
happily, I have salt in the house (LOL) and will do that now. However, it will take both of us to allow it!
she is a big, stubborn dog!
thats what treats are for!
will cook up some chicken liver for he, too
her*
98 words and will see you later, putting on my vet's hat!
off to bed for me - night all
{{lynxx}}
Night Lynxx
Back to my missing to4 - I have the 2 that have plurals and one that is the end part of an animation. What am I missing?
Let me see if I can help
Do you know its full numbers? as in TO 4 30
Thanks, that would be great
I have TO The person that works with computers is the ?? guy
veggemite would be good on this
hello again
Someone earlier mentioned 4/7 but I already have a 4/7 - unless there are 2 x 4/7. herin, I am lost re a computer guy
I got Ruby all medicated and bandaged -- salt water bath, drying, cortisone cream, antibiotic, gauze and tape
Hi Ruby
she wanted to play after, so it wasn't too traumatic
hi all
hi jmc
what happened to ruby?
Hope all that tlc does the trick ruby
Hi JM
I bandaged her the way the nurse bandanged my husband!
Ruby can you get doggy booties for them?
she has a bad spot on her leg and has removed all the fur and keeps biting it
with all this snow, I can't get anything but maybe I could put one of my socks on her. That's a good idea
Then she would eat the sock :D
I think the cortisone cream helped the itching and if the bandage stays in place for a while, I will be less worried about her ingesting it
I mean when she goes outside to pee
there are always orphan socks
*sets up a charity for orphan socks*
am I the only one who winds up with odd socks?
No but I have a solution same colour and brand
lord no i have so many from the various socks of the boy they have their own room
hahah
i keep thinking i will find their mate
me, too, but the pile just gets larger
and it is still snowing, much more than a foot since last night
a good time to babble and read ruby
there's plenty of food in the house but husband is extremely cranky; I wish I had a tranquilizer dart!
his doctor suggested I put Max's prozac in his food!
lol your poor hubby!
I agree
well we are having a torrential rain with tornado warnings here
mean ruby!
oh I thought you doc thought you should drug your hubby
does anybody have the first letters of the 8's and 10's ( or even one of them?
yes, he said I should give him Max's anti-depressant
the 8 letter ci word was a triple crown winning horse
thank you, poodle!
and why is drugging husbands a bad idea. lol
ty poods
actually, I have more than one girlfriend who has resorted to that at one time or another.....
well i am guessing it is illegal though maybe not in france to give a person an animal drug without their knowledge
but depression in the elderly is widespread
We have had humidity.
is it boiling hot herin
no, I am giving Max people drugs, my MD writes the scrips because the vet never heard of prescribing prozac for an autistic dog
or an autistic dog, for that matter
lol well that is a little better!
I got the idea from Temple Grandin and it has worked wonders on the dog
Tornado warnings? Where? Morning all.
hello molly
here molly -- better batten down the hatches
i got a weather warning on my blackberry
I didn't hear anything on the radio or see anything on WUSA's site. I heard high winds until 9AM, but nothing about tornados. Yikes.
JM no it isn't hot but it smells like wet dog and is clingy as a wet towel. Didn't make my day I had to go out there
when my dog gets too wound up and frenzied, I put her on my lap and hold her tightly so she cant move and soon she just completly relaxes. I have heard some people do that with their autistic children.
probably just a tornado watch rather than warning but until 10 am
Temple Grandin built an apparatus that does that for her
Good Morning Babble Friends
THere is a scent you can buy now that mimics mummy dogs or cats sends them all happy.
Yep, there is something on WTOP.
hi river
I hold Ruby like that when there are fireworks or high winds and she stops trembling

if i knew what you were talking about i would evan i would be appalled with you
doesn't that word have an extra T after the B?
hi mside
maybe not
nope, it's AB 6/24 ia
ah now i see what you are talking about! and I am appaled
i guess technically its latin. like we never have THAT in the grid...
OMG - finally got that NO word
I agree, Eva
wtg river! woot woot
I wonder if Lickety has it in his today
::pats River and jmc on the back::
clue it, River!!
I cannot find it
pooooooooooooooof
don't be patronizing ;-)

lol herin
hi goood
Eva - do the honors for nana
oh, but its SO RARE that im actually in the position to be! hehe
sorry herins oooo's were catching
nana: NO6/21 rhymes with the adjective form of flowery, rhyming language.
was that the clue, Eva?
oh, ok, there it is
or, if you read the last dan brown novel, it is the main focus. :)
nope, I haven't
okay what are the stats for the i? I need nbt to go off and earn some $$
ty eva!
ic4/5
ic4/5

*smack*
nbt and i am off to practice being a lawyer before saving the world today
have a great day jmc
bye all bbl 102 left
bye jmc
*poof*
yknow, when i was a kid, i never thought i would ever see the day that i would have a hard time putting together a christmas list.
I know - as an adult, if you want something and are able to - you just go buy it.
I don't like making a list - I'd rather give gifts.
My hubby gets mad at me, but that's just how I am.
im the same way. i love gift-giving. having a tough time this year, though. cant seem to think of anything for anyone!
me too!
anyone have the stats for the 10-letter words?
I have one of them - TR10/84
the longest word ive got is a single 7-letter. those, im afraid, i cant help with.
ty
Good Morning Fellow Babblers. How are you all today? I just got nbt; and need to start functioning soon.
gm, nef
ab10/84

I need to get to work - see you all later
bye river and thanks for the 10
hey, nana, do you live in east or western MT?
south central
ty River!
just north of Red Lodge
Nice area! :-) There are several Babblers from MT here that play in the evenings; I have family in Helena and Msla
add xharged particle to ab6
Twin Cities - I've been there often.
Yes, we love it here. Originally from Michigan.
thanks for the tr 10, River!
thanks, Hootowl!
yw
hows about an 8? anyone have one?
I prefer what my brother calls the "flatlands" myself. I can visit the mountains but start feeling very clostrophobic after a while
We are in the foothills, having beautiful views of the mountains. There are ski slopes in Red Lodge. We can see them skiing in the winter.
not me, Eva
looking now EvaN
all I have is the race horse - ci8
Eva, there's an 8 based on the 10 that River just clued--- tr8 = tr10 - the charged particle + a vowel
ab 10 is ab 6 + charged particle?
yep
that only makes a 9 letter word
sorry add cons after plural letter
ab10 = ab6 with a cross added right in in the middle + a charged particle
muc better, ty msideb
I have tr8 and ci8 - anyone know what the third one is? Or did I miss it?
te8 but dont have it
ty
grabbed some hot chocolate from the caf + put a shot of pumpkin in it -- heres hoping it tastes good!
sounds yummy
clue for the corner n please
and good morning all
NO6 rhymes with the adjective form of flowery, rhyming language.
also the type of science discussed in Dan Browns latest novel.
halfway point...
wow, i just noticed that im down to just 50 left. didnt even realize i was on such a roll! of course, now i will hit the wall...heh
go, Eva
me too eva. 52 left. flew thru then just stopped
te 8 is the opposite of dying without a will.
Scratch that, it doesn't work.
good morning, does the as7 end with the charged particle?
No
ok
te 7/32 and 8/45 any clues please
te + cons + sounds like your jeans are too small and plural
nice clue pyth
python, your jeans are too small?
thank you
haha, no I wear mom jeans!
No, I wasn't trying to be funny. I just didn't get the clue
oh, sorry
vg clue
I don't get the clue either.
I just don't see it. Does it rhyme with an altercation?
the ending does
yes it does
the first part sounds like a lab assistant
okay, was looking in the wrong direction. TY Python

Hello out there in Babbleonia
Hi bichon! I just got a reprieve! Being the "boss," I had an ill call for clinic last night so was planning to have to go in at noon today (on my day off). However, my co-worker just called and told me she'd found a replacement! I'm so happy! :-D
Hi bichon
I felt sooo alone here
good news, Nef
um, the clinic is today, I receiver the ill call *for today* last evening
everyone is concentrating
Yeah nef!
well, now I have time to stay and play for a while! :-)
Hi bichon! Hi trentsnana!
hi car.ee
Hi Nef!
hi car
good deal, nef
Oooh! found an 8!
Car Ee is rockin' da grid.
When I was here earlier, I was a mess! Trying it again now!
I was off rushing around trying to dress and do housework, etc. as I had bumped my hair appointment up to 9:30A and I got a call from the salon saying that they needed to reschedule me since my stylist is running late. So now that is bumped back to this afternoon too! (1:30PM, the original time again)
Figures!
did we have another cuppa, car?
Nef, I love the blue thing you've got going on. I wouldn't change a thing. : P
I should use a few commas and periods for clarity, shouldn't I? That was quite the run-on sentence!
LOL Molly!
:-P Molly, I have what is "kindly" referred to as "difficult hair" --fine, thin, and stubbornly straight. This stylist is the first one who hasn't criticized it (in my whole life!); and she cuts it so it does stand on end (with Product). So, aside from the color, this IS my hairstyle! :-)
I do imagine in a few years I may dying it blue; you never can tell! I still have enough brown that the blue wouldn't show yet
Need to send the hair to obedience school
BR!!!!!!!! {hugs}
hi BR! Long time no see! Where you been? (Or am I here at the wrong time lately?)
No body could have worse hair than my daughter. She has brillo hair
Hello, I have been east of here for awhile
I am so happy that you are here!
brillo hair has curls at least
Not exactly. The only thing she can do is wear it up.
Good to see you peeples too
in my country? or father east than that?
east from Antarctica
Did you have a nice time where ever that was?
My days are generally blends and rarely that memorable.
BR, there isn't much of an east from Antartica (or at least the South Pole)
Or...you can consider everywhere can be East!
that's a perfect description of our summer this year, BR
My east does not account for the curvature of the Earth.
BR...I have to go, but I am so glad to have "seen" you today! Wishing you all the best and hope to "see" you again soon!
okay. That's from being a flatlander I bet.
Be well, Carol
You too!
Bye all! BBL!
Thanks
I must go .. .there are many windmills to joust with
bye car.ee
I'm so "not European". I never see the Italian hello/goodbye.
happy jousting BR. Don't forget to come back and see us thought
thanks, Molly. I missed it too
do I see BR?????!!!! HELLO!!!
everyone's missed you so!
he's already gone, Unea.
And I agree, we have missed him
RATS!!
bonjour une! we have more than 2 feet of snow. It is so beautiful
good grief, ruby!!! that's amazing!! take pix and post them for us!
ruby, obviously you do shovel it, right? ;-)
the dogs love it and have made corridors in the garden as it's overe their heads
the only problem is feeding husband's millions of birds - I can't reach the feeder so I just shoveled some snow and put the seeds on the ground, also some stale bread and old rice
lol! I always have to go out and make a path for my dog. Even 6 inches is too deep for him these days
Max doesn't remember snow from year to year but seems very happy
I will try to take a picture of the dogs
*poof*
dead battery, will have to re-charge
JC is now 11 years old and at 11 pounds, he didn't even try to make a dent in the 7 inches of wet snow we got a few weeks ago. He used to go jump out in it and try to chase squirrels; but not this year
what kind of dog is JC, nef?
he's a schiz-poo (schi-zue, toy poodle mix)
that's a cute combinataion
Our first one was smart as a whip; this one is dumber than dirt. He's gotten by on his looks (because he is cute and has markings that seem to be a bow tie on his neck...he's got a dark grey black body and a white bowtie and chest with white feet
combination
bet he's a doll
Sounds cute nef. My Bichon is 16 and 1/2 and doesn't do snow any more
Tootsie was our first dog; and she was so smart. This one we "inherited" from DH's cousin because he wouldn't be trained. We got him while Toots was still alive and Toots trained him. We had to pout Tootsie down when she was 16; but JC hasn't learned anything since then.
Bichons are about half way in the intelligence scale, smart enough. But male Bichons are very difficult to house train. Love to mark
Hey! :D
I have allergies to dogs and cats; this is a mix I can tolerate (now if there was such a thing as an allergen free cat....) My daughter lives with us ; and so does her cat.
hi cgw
there are allergen-free cats -- they're called hairless. :)
Bichons are hypoallergenic. Necessary for this house
bbbbut they are ugly and bald, EvaN!
Hairless cats aren't ugly. D:
The feel like petting a peach. Or so I hear. :)
well, "cute and furry" wasnt on the requirements list...heh
okay, strange-looking then
Being hypoallergenic means lots of grooming. Hair must be brushed and cut
Fair enough.
oh-oh DH is finally up (at 10 AM!) Time to get ready and take the dog in to the groomer
:o What kind of dog?
Yep; we do get the dog groomed every month (with baths in between if needed)
BBL, everyone. (I just realized that the dog gets more haircuts than I do!) LOL!
bye now
Lol bye.
fireworks!!
any clues needed?
okay - gotta run - have a good day, everyone
1st st 7?
first one i have is a train or bus ST7

gm boo
hi boo.... good morning dfm
also, hi all. hmm, this "all" person seems oddly popular all of a sudden...
hi diane and ruru
Thanks for the st clue Diane
clue for ab 10 please
to abstain
ab10 - when someone refuses to vote or show preference.
yw, and hi Molly
Good morning/afternoon all.
good morning, Haz
Hello, diane.
not getting the ab 10
hi haz! :o)
Hello, dfm.
and hi molly :o)
ab + coronary tube + charged particle
Boo, it's the noun relating to the action of not voting, refusing to cast a preference. ab, heart thing, finish with a charged particle.
Greetings babble land.
hi fm :o)
Snap Diane and Haz. :D Hi FM.
hi FM
Hello everyone.
Hello, FM! Frozen?
yup and the wellies and thick socks had to come out today.
Oh, the glamour of it all.
It's really wild here in the NE US. Heavy rain and winds
ty finally got the ab10
Well done, Boo.
oh yes I was the height of fashion with my big jacket and hood up trudging through the snow.
ty haz
drizzle and rain up here in Ottawa :o(
Flipping supermarket cancelled my grocery delivery due to the adverse weather conditions - wimps!
crisp, sunny, and -13 C here in sherwood park , AB.
Not Tesco's by any chance?
Bich, we have the wind and rain too. Apparently there were tornado warnings this morning as well.
yup but I am only semi grouching as I would hate for anything awful to happen to the drivers.
Molly, I saw on CNN that you were having it worse than we would.
Well, you know what I think of Tesco's... a bit of a let-down for you, all the same. What if you were incapacitated or something?
crisp and sunny is good diane but -13 is cold!
Hi everyone. Late coming onto the grid today!
Cold for Great Britian, warm weather for AB
Evening Sally!
How nice to arrive in time for an ab 10 clue :-)
Hello, Sally. Have you got your late note handy?
does anyone need a clue, I'm almost finished
I dropped it in the snow Haz.
ab10 ?
No thanks bichon, only just started.
You're as bad as FM. She couldn't remember her history homework yesterday.
I have the 10's
scroll back rob it was just clued.
I have an array of good excuses for non-arrival of homework :-)
Firewords
and I was going to copy/paste it into my profile for today and forgot that too.
Well done, bichon!
Congrats bichon!
congrats bichon :o)
dfm - did you finish your paper?
also hello sally :o) missed you entering when firefox died
yep ^.^ *hugs FM and haz*
Hooray!
Dead Firefox is not good :-(
Yay well done :)
We deserved the prize for the naggiest babblers yesterday, FM.
lol I did feel a bit like my mother talking :)
how so?
You knew we made sense, didn't you, dfm? It doesn't often happen, so make the most of it.
Sally how do the chooks fare in the cold weather or is their hen houe all cozy?
of course, haz :o) I do that of5 myself...
dfm was due to hand in a paper yesterday but was babbling instead.
Hey ruru! ... what Haz said.
oh.. well DFM.. school always comes first (nagging)
actually Haz and FM come first...then school..
then babbling
Well the hen house is fairly cosy, but their inner run is covered and has a deep layer of wood chippings. In the snow they don't venture out of that small run. I don't do anything extra for them except keep the water unfrozen. They have their own in-built duvets at night and can cuddle up close.
nuh uh, Babble comes before school... >.>
awe you sweetie, how's things with you ruru?
Morning folks
freezing here FM..
hi bob :o)
Hi Bob
Guess being a chicken at your place is a good deal then :)
Biz is up though finally
eggsactly
freezing bad Biz up is good. Hows the pup but I guess he has grown a lot now?
yes.. he is a moderate boy. about 65 lbs and full of testosterone and a little nutso right now.
Well I don't give them warm porridge etc which I know some people do :-) Water and pellets, and a little extra to get them through the night. I take the view that they are chickens, not people :-)
Not even drawer porridge?
lol, no Haz not even that.
Whats drawer porridge Haz - phrase I haven't come across.
Legend has it that some Scots used to make porridge, put it into a drawer and then hack a piece off every now and again.
They could reheat as required.
They say that's why Scotsmen are able to toss telegraph poles around with ease. Drawer porridge.
I expect they can toss the porridge around as well.
well you learn a new thing everyday :)
Absolutely. And the sporran was always useful as a kind of lunchbox.
You never know what you're going to find out here, FM.
I thought the sporran was to hide the lunchbox :-)
LOL!
As both of my cousins are Scottish and I went to theire weddings, there was much kiltage about.
<-- is completely lost :o/
Just checked my Scott's porridge oats packet. The man is putting the shot - I could have sworn there was a caber about.
and flashing of sporrans ;) probably best at your tender age dfm.
Highland regalia is wonderful, really smart.
clue for be 7
be7 - to the crooked be4/6 - add the three letters you might say if you've had too much to drink.
lol, that worked, ty Haz
Or to shortened Mr Franklin, add the first letters of a word meaning dense or fat.
You're welcome, Sally.
be7 zone of a lake or ocean.
oh where were you earlier Haz when I was battling with that one?
I went numb from tile value counting but did get there in the end.
It's a new one on me.
yes, and there were a few words that led me a merry dance today but overall it was a good grid.
It was. Must take a quick break. Toodles!
Me too, must go and empty the birdbath before it freezes solid. BRB
bye haz, FM
Done that FM. Bye for now.
Back, gosh it is cold but at least it has stopped snowing.
It's going to be a long winter. Strange, I remember some years ago taking my parents Christmas shoppng to Tunbridge Wells in early December, and stopping at a pub on the way home for lunch and eating outside!
*sigh* know what you mean. Just wasn't quite ready for it to set in yet although kitchen is stocked, mentally I am not ready = fed up.
Winter is late here :o/
phone
Also concerned that if anything happens to Mum or StepDad, with snow I can't get to them.
clue for the third co 5
pl of the thing you put on when you go out :)
I thought the third one was get out your winter co** + third vowel
ty
Nope, my bad, can't count.
Hi Molly that is the 2nd one.
and there is a 4th too

Ataroooo!!!!!!!!!!
IS it bad down your way? Looked it on the news.

Ata comes and goes with lightening speed :(
it's horrid!!
en + facial twich + vowel
(just writing emails and making tea!)
well say HI after you have done that then :)
Just call me the grouch today ;)
:P grumpy FM
*grin*
Sily is drinking my painting water
thats silly.....hello everyone

Hi River
hi river :o)
oops need to go - boss is calling - almost got caught there.....bbl
luckily for one it's clean painting water!
oh the trials of babbling at work.
Ah I knew Sily has sense.
oh and don't correct yr typo Ata as it is in the grid
she normally waits till it's red or blue or orange
so it is! ty!
did you get to see the old photos I posted up?
I'm just waiting for you to guild her nose and take a pic.
Our little puppy Buster was killed by a car this morning.
I wish I had done the time she did that herself
oh no! ((((Soodle))))
just got back from buying lunch -- attempting yesterdays sammich again. hopefully theyve gotten it right this time!
Oh Soodle! I'm so sorry.
Oh no Soodle!!!!
oh soodle! im so sorry.
Do: soodle
So so sorry to hear that.
A car skidded on the snow, and hit him. He was killed outright. Its just too sad.
so sorry soodle
Oh (((Soodle))) I am so sorry
hello everyone
hi Mom :o)
Hello ((Dfm))
Hi Mom.
Hi FMitch
I keep wanting to type tonic
good morning babble friends - just wanted to stop in quickly to thank all of you for your candles and kind words of support yesterday. Today is the second day of viewing for my husband, burial tomorrow. Thank you for being there for me.
(((JBV))) I am so sorry for your loss
(((((JBV too))))))
JBV - ((((()))))) Sincere condolences to you.
JBV, was very sad to read the log yesterday, my thoughts are with you and the family.
*pours Mom some gin to go with her phantom tonic* :)
**thank you**
**wonders what gin taste like**
gin is a very unique taste!
a good taste or yucky taste?
that'll be ta5/10 Ata
Mom said it more than me
ooohh, thanks FMitch
I sure did.
On a hot summers day with ice and a slice of lemon a G&T is v refreshing.
it's really juniper berries isn't it?
I have only had whiskey
OK both of you off to the PB then to try out the G&T's
I wouldn't have a clue how to describe the ta5 though
gin and tonics and whiskey souts
sours*
lunch?
hello Jmc, what's your poison?
It is nothing like that, gin is distilled from juniper berries so if you have ever eaten them in cooking (v popular with venison) then you will get a sense of the ta5.
never had juniper berries or venison
Hi jmc!
gin tastes like christmas tree.
*pours jmc a shot of jd*
lol EvaN
am i wrong? thats what i recall from the one time i tasted it.
passes out Hershey bars with almonds
i love gin and a christmas tree is not too far off
Never tried drinking a christmas tree but sorta know where you are coming from. However there are many blends of gin so it depends.
no thanks mom i only do fermented sugar these days
FM knows my poison! lol
my old coworker used to drink gin straight. he offered me a sip, since id never tried it. i just distinctly remember that TA5 being akin to the smell of pine.
lol jmc
just sent off a fund appeal and a resume so need a break
ewww ne4/4 gin is hideous.
hmmm didn't have any pickle relish so made chicken salad with salsa verde
a resume JMC?
ne4/4 gin is not to everyone's ta5
jmc - I would send you a bottle as a christmas present if I could JB that is not gin).
yes mom I am looking for greener pastures
I wish you all the luck in the world, jmc
How many "tion" words have ya'all found?
well since it is from the US that would be fairly complicated FM lol!
never thought to put relish in chicken salad. which is odd since i ALWAYS put it in tuna salad...
Hi Kimm, I have 1
I know but the thought was there jmb ;)
ty mom i must be crazy quitting my job in this economy but if you actually believe in callings you gotta go when you gotta go
i appreciate it FM I will have to plan on a virtual gi** for you :-)
I believe in callings. You have left your current employer
Hi, mom. I have only one also. But there's gotta be more!
i have 2 tion words so far
I have 3

i have 5 so far.

looking afor the tr now
I don't even have any tr LOL!
they are all here in Kentucky Crossy, hello
i don't remember the love and thougthfulness in malls in my lifetime
*hangs up the mistletoe in the PB for crossie*
ha, i don't have the tr8!
there is a TR8 related to the TR10 also.
Hi Crossy!
oo why did crossie go to the pb?
the TR words have "we got the BE**" in the middle...
((fm)) and off to the pb i go
He didn't I was just trying to cheer him up.
FM!!!!
and I spelt his name wrong :(
just sums up my day.
thats how i spell it
you can call me anything you life ((fm))
like
LOL crossy we are as bad as eachother (())
poor FM *makes FM a martini with the leftover gin from earlier*
some say crossy, come say crossie, some say x-hair lol
*cheers jmc*
i can see it is going to be a typo day for me
garlic stuffed olive in your martini or traditional?
awww u have a sily cat in my arms
I'll go trad.
you all know how to make a crossy martini?
*plop*
woo! got the TR10! THanks, eva
is she purring Ata?
::pets silly kitty::
purring madly
wtg helen still looking
now shes settled on my shoulder
Yes first get some bacon ........
lol FM and wave the gin over the bacon?
and stick an olive in it?
lol
not that we know crossy well or anything.
you take the finest chilled vodka, strain it through crushed ice into a jumbo martini glass till 4 ounces of chilled nirvana are in the glass, get a solid silver cocktail sword and impale a jumbo pimento olive on it and float it in the glass, then lean over the glass and whisper the name of the person who invented vermouth and serve;))
Oh such style that Mr Cross!
what, not using bacon vodka?
other than watered down how is that different than gin ne**
hi jmc, crossy and everyone else who came in while I was eating :o)
of course bacon vodka silly!:)
Back from phone call :-)
vodka martinis are not martinis :-( *sits with arms crossed*
there is no difference, just i hate gin;)
hi dfm and sally
you are right that is vodka ne** which I drank when I was in college
i may as well drink fm,s chanel No5 as drink gin:/
you have missed a lot of booze Sally.
mmmm bacon
i will stick with my vodka + diet or a kahlua + milk. :)
nap time. ((Hugs)) to all of you
not true chanel No. 5 will make you go blind
*pets seeing eye dog*
Oh dear. Did see JBV's news and was able to send a one-handed message. So sorry.
LOL jmc!
bye mom
vodka and diet coke? whats the point of the diet coke? each shot has a thousand calories anyways..have the real coke!
So who is drinking what?
bye Mom :o)
bye bye JMC
how sally? do you know her FB name?
bye bye ((Dfm))
i actually LIKE the diet...heh
kahlua! Now you're talking. Remember my first Black Russian, mixed by a Finnish friend. I think I was fairly legless.
ewww..nothing like the taste of asparitinate in the morn:/
<-- is lost in all this talk about alcohol :o/
i really like nuts-n-berries as a drink. i could sip on that all night. :)
how bout flaming zambucas all round?
No jmc, she was posting in the chog while I was on the phone so just sent a quick message then.
The top shelf of the PB drinks cabinet has been hit fairly heavily.
Why ruin perfectly good liquor with a mixer?
ah I keep missing her
*goes for rum and coke*
*yarfs* we got a free sambuca each at one of our honeymoon dinners. thought i was gonna die...
what is nuts-n-berries?
yes molly mix can often bruise good alcohol;))
Oh I don't think so crossy - the fact the drink has to be set on fire says much about how it must ta5.
nuts-n-berries is 1 part Frangelico, 1 part Chambord, 4 parts cream/milk
oo an occassional frozen margarita in the summer is good but other wise i use soda water as my most exciting mixer
Ah. The chat revolves around food and drink. Nice to know some things never change. Good afternoon, Babblers!
was watching "scrooged" last night with bill murray and had to laugh at that scene of him pouring out a jumbo glass of vodka and waving that can of tab over it
howdi judi
he let a drop in
hi judi
Ah, I love "Scrooged"
Hi Judi, some things in babble remain constant :)
it is on again for the next 4 nights if you want to catch it molly:)
i liked it until he goes on and on at the end
food,booze,bacon;)
some one should have written that part better
chocolate cake shot - 1 part frangelico, 1 part lemon vodka, 1 slice of lemon
stuff of life
okay and alas i must go duke it out with my orgs paypals account
sounds like a desert ata,not a drink
it's a really weird drink that tastes perfectly of chocolate cake!
Where does the chocolate cake come in? Sounds like a lemon drop to me.
ata -- our version of chocolate cake is just a shot of frangelico and a sugared lemon. we LURVE it!
a drink should open up the sinuses, clense the pallet and sart a car if need be;)
start
no no you need the lemon vodka in too :) try that! Must try it without the vodka now
thats called petrol crossy, not advised to drink that!
a great bottle of booze can clean the sinuses, start a car, remove stubborn stain ,act as a paint thinner and be of use in a camp stove;)
everclear comes to mind
and preserve sponge smaples!
doesn't coca cola do that too?
everything but the camp stove ata
Ata - smaples? *giggles*
fn*
dammit
i should just get out the speech to type program and throw the keyboard away
lol I always mistype samples. I even have it set up to autocorrect in Word!
:) BRB
crossy, maybe not if we have been drinking... in that case, speech-to-type wouldnt be much clearer!
lol if it can do scotts it should have no problem with our drunkeness
*yawn* today in the office is a total waste of my having gotten out of bed.
well,if you can sit there, babble and get paid for it,life is good
id rather babble in my pjs, from my couch, having slept past 6am.
am working from home tomorrow ;)
i would love a job like that myself;)
we arent allowed to work from home. :(
I love working from home... or coming to work at midnight and working until most people get here...
if everything you do in the course of a workday is done on computer,i do not see why they do not let you work at home..unless you are dealing with sensitive material
I work from home every day - bliss.
only cos of the snow ... we all are encouraged to work in the barn just because of the resulting bouncing around of ideas among the whole conservation team
my brother works from home also,he has to put in 40 hours a week and they do not care how he splits it up.if he wishes he can do it in 2 days of 20 hours and take the next 5 off lol
Isn't "basa" a fish?
bass is a fish
could someone giv another clue for the long trs?
Just realised I don't have a single TR word!
nor do I, Sally!
basa is a member of the catfish family found in the Mekong Delta but enable is a fickle mistress.
tr8...tr + Mr. Lincoln + I just *** my diner
5 words to find, so I imagine TR features in there somewhere :-)
think architectural construction with beams and lintels for the tr8 and 10.
Ty, FM. I feel somewhat validated.
tr10...build on the 8 with the charged particle ending
no wonderf I couldn't find them!
yw Judi :)
That and the fact that I've eaten it. I know I'm not completely daft.
ty Molly. Have the 8 now!
Wow, I'm in the construction business and I had no idea what those words meant. Must be a British term.
Ooh, and the 10!
yay Sally
Groan. Can't believe I missed the ts 4/4
and yay Ata
i was in construction for 10 years and never heard that term
Fireworks! Yay for me!
yaa for sally!
YAY, Sally and Ata!
has anyone gotten the AS7?
not a real yay for me
It's an old 19th centuary word and has latin roots so no surprises really.
as7 a + s***** electricty
a + not moving.
I have an Ab/10.
smacks zooz for using a 3 letter clue but greets him warmly none the less.
ty zooz
and takes back the smack after cleaning glasses.
I was going to say..lol
YW Crossy :-)
sorry dear.
NP :-)
hello all - back after switching off during wild summer thunder storm - all clear now
lol FM. Must go now. Any clues needed?
HAve a good evening Sally and hope to see you tomorrow.
Summer..what a lovely word..WB, Ursh.
Hi ursh.
ah, gotta love four-minute-long meetings o.0
hi ursh, zooz and anyone I missed :o)
Hope so too FM. *Gone*
Hello, DFM :-)
oh! finally got the AS7! thanks
Warm, raining and very windy here today on the ea/4 co/5.
whew, finally got all the B's, of course missing one was a plural *forehead smack* and hi all! :)
Wait, what did Zoom get smacked for?
Very cold, slight dusting of snow on ground here.
nothing Molly *hangs head* I was mistaken.
Good going, Rbud :-)
zooz we have 3-4" here :(
FM was bullying me for nothing :-(
Oh okay. I was like "what? what did I miss?"
Hey! No arbitrary smacking allowed! You kids play nice or I'll hide the Frangellico.
hi rbud :o)
Yuk you can keep it, FM :-)
Sorry, Judi :-)
*Sneaking up behind Judi, grabbing the Frangelico and running away*
*big wibbly lip - I'm sorry I wasn't paying proper attention*
lol
Clue for the ab/6, please?
not here, Judi
Oh, Molly. You are soooo in time-out right now.
When you stay home from school you are marked...
blame the snow, FM
the ab6/24 is not here
Hello, ata :-)
Are you saying that it is a Lickety phantom, zooz?
Yes, ab6/24 has left the building
no that was the clue.
haha, that is the clue, Judi :-)
No, he's trying to give the definition of "not here"
and a bunch of us came up with it too!
*sniff* thanks Ata I will.
Okay. Now is the time to smack ME!
good clue, dfm, thanks! :)
He meant the as 6/24 means not here.
lol, bless you, i could of clued it a lot better though.
*smacks with a basa*
we'll allow that for one day :)
And thank you for the clever clue.
Ack ab 6/24
lol, FM. *loads Basa Nova onto the record player* Let's dance!
*Joins FM in the cleaning of the glasses*
Oh yes!
Oh now you put Basa Nova on, AFTER you got rid of the fruit hat.
One needs no fruity hat for dancing. *clamps rose in teeth and shakes maracas* Dance, you fools! Dance!
Dances Judi into the PB for her ro4
Does anyone have the BE7?
which by the way can be extended to a 7/28 and a following 5/10
*shimmies to Penalty Box*
be7 zone of a lake or ocean
be7 curve + *** ups
*marks out of 10 for Judi please ....*
8
8 1/2
In the light of the fact that all the other judges have fallen asleep I declare Judi the winner.
lol
*bows deeply*
I didn't fall asleep, I just didn't want to hold my scorecard up after seeing what FM and zooz gave! Do:
Welcome to "Dancing With the Apathetic Judges".
LOL
lol
gah! gran has been in hospital for 3 days with a bad back, and just now they think of x-raying her!
typical, hope she will be ok.
they CT scanned her, but didnt xray!
ohhow frustrating Ata. I have a friend in hospital admitted last Wed and won't be transferred for tests until Friday of this week.
*face palm* That's ridiculous, Ata. And it's very odd to have a CT scan before an X-ray (at least on this side of the pond).
To the contrary - my MIL was hospitalized with pneumonia for the Thanksgiving weekend. They X-rayed her lungs every day. Seems like a bit much.
its just so silly!
I must admit, i would rather too much than hardly anything.
sitting here with a scarf wrapped around my neck, a shawl across my lap, and my space-heater on. in the office. chilly much??
Threaten to sue them, Ata. That should speed things up a bit.
but too much x-raying can be bad for you :o/
These days I think it is a county budget lottery.
hi EvaN, how was your lunch?
everything i hoped for. :)
run round the office a couple of times EvaN :0
quietly sneaking back into the chog - no one watching at the moment

Hi all -- just 5 to go
no6/21 of or pertaining to the mind or reason
hi nan :o)
hi nan
no 6: rhymes with descriptive word for bard's output
or with po**** justice
space heater - check. shawl on lap - check. scarf - check. hot tea - check. feeling warm? no.
ty
lol - a little chilly in MD, eva?
Wrap the scarf around your head, Eva. That will hold the heat in.
Eva, it was 60 degrees when I left for work this morning. Now it's 39.
as 7, please?
molly -- i know! it was so nice when i left the house (other than torrential downpouring) that i didnt bring my gloves or 180s. now im dreading the walk to the metro!
you have all that inside at your desk eva? sound like my wife lol
can't quite feel for you guys -- not when we have snow on the ground and 2 degrees of frost!
shopping for my wife is easy, just buy anything that makes, retains or throws heat lol
it is quite cold here for a change = England is usualy damp and a a little cool in December but it really cold in some places
anyways,i must be off to work,tc all and happy babbling...poof

thanks for weather report from MD, Molly! Glad my daughter picked up a new, warmer jacket in NY last weekend before returning to MICA!
I try to keep extras in my car or at the office, just in case of temperature drops like this.
hello everybody
Hi Jacq
hi Jacq
cold here too, -7 as we speak with a wind chill taking it to about -12, and we're the warmer part of scotland lol
heya molly and boo
have no idea what you get when you brush long hair
it's so cold the grit isn't clearing the roads, hasn't been above -3 all day
static
Nan, think of what makes your clothes funky in the winter...ends in "cling"
oh yes -- I think I do
fly away hair sometimes has cling
we had ice inside the car today too, totally confused angie when he was trying to scrape it
just a bit late, jac!
ty boo
i keep a hoodie, scarf, and shawl in my cube, just in case i get cold. the space heater lives under my desk. and ive been considering getting some fingerless gloves too. just holding the tea at the moment to warm my fingers...
oops, i thought that was a general question not a clue, sorry
i just thought you had a bit of mind blankness like i get sometimes
I'm getting this mental image of Eva, all bundled up in her office warmies, trudging to the Metro station.

Babs, I get the giant fish of the day award for struggling to find the oh so obvious "i"
I missed the be4 in the be7. It was my last word. :o3
and the be7 was my first.
I lots of time miss that i word, molly!
wtg dfm!!!
ci 8 was my first -- for some reason saw that one right off the back and I haven't even had a parking ticket lately!
*off the bat
i keep seeing beatification
for some odd reason
o.o how is ci8 related to parking tickets?
It's what you get for parking illegally
*or for speeding
a parking ticket is also known as a parking Ci8
what? beatification? i thought you had to be really really good for that
<-- has never parked illegally yet, or sped... maybe if I were in Quebec I'd get a ticket, but not in Ontario!
ok just read the chog properly lol
be 7: london's big clock + not thin
i got 2 speeding tickets, a parking ticket, AND a red light ticket, all within a month before the wedding! i rarely get tickets, but i got slammed with those all at once!

loved your "foonerism", dfm :-)
ugh, can't type today... -.-
seeya Judi
Foonerism? Is that when you switch the tines around on a fork?
hi Diane - what is the flower on your icon?
well spork and foon is a great example of a spoonerism... named after William Spooner... I love them
that is a sea holly plant in the front... not sure of the bright ones in the back.... taken in daughter's garden
clue for sa 4/6
do you have Splades in Canada dfm?
no, spork and foon are I think portmanteaus. ;o)
okay
but spoonerisms are awesome :oD
When the boys come back from France, we'll have the hags flung out!
a spoonerism is where you interchange the first consonant sounds.... My kids etc. have made up some great ones over the years .
yup !!
sa*l* would be a type of fur, drop the l
splades, lyn?
"You have hissed all my mystery lectures, and were caught fighting a liar. You have tasted two worms. You shall now pack up your rags and bugs, and leave by the next town drain" <== was my introduction to spoonerisms
I have no idea what you mean lynxxx
the groundhog "pissadeared" back into his den.... that was one of them. "cootie cuckers" was another, exchanging the middle sound
I love that one dfm....going to copy and past that one somewhere !!!
splade - a piece of cutlery designed originally for buffets - like a wide fork with short tines...I guess a mixture between spade and ladle...very popular as a wedding gift, engagement etc. Not as common as 40 years ago but still widely available here
ooh, I have seen them! At buffets!
does anyone know what that first sa4 means? o.0
I hope you have all read Peter De Vries speaking of spoonerisms
Otherwise I shall just call it an odd walk. (.h.m.l.)
all I can think of is what Tonto called the lone Ranger Kemo ****
my most favorite line of PdeV - Gladly, the cross eyed bear
I haven't read that lynxxx.... I'll look for it !!
I shall look for it too!
that just a line, not the title of the book - but he had written several books, some of which have been made into movies - admittedly quite a while ago
darn... our library doesn't have it... just a couple of "billy sooks" by Shel Silverstein
i have run into a brick wall at 43
not a thing by Peter De Vries in fact
*passes kazz a battering ram*
thanks dfm
I have 21 left... I'm supposed to be making my Christmas cards but the computer was just TOO close to my crafting surface .... just a twirl of the chair !!
a rattering bam? A bammering rat?
i am not making them this year - last year i made 63 in one weekend and swore never again - must write them soon
christmas cards that is
i shall look at the list

kazzer, if you're a meteorologist, can't you do something about this weather?
no - i love weather - specially when other people get it - weather in Uk is usually staid and behaved but has been having a hoot before Crimbo
I usually love weather too, but today is so gloomy and damp
and the basement is flooding
ooh that is bad Harry - have you had a lot of rain?
windy rain...I sent for the gutter guy, but he hasn't come yet
Is that normal Harry? you don't seem very concerned
it oozes through the walls - I've started scraping and painting on the sealant. Once the gutters get cleaned, we'll be fine.
it's these darned yankee gutters - they get clogged with the slightest obstruction
that ... sounded very casual harry ;oP
living in the northeast you learn to live with wet basements
it's a constant battle
mine is usually dry :o\
we don't have them here
it's a 97 year old house, so it's starting to need some tlc
whew, done.. now off to my list of chores. Happy Babbling all, ciao for now

not exactly, but if you were 6/24 on voting day, you could say you were practicing 10/84
kind of - just insert a t
Lot of overlap of letters, but not building off the meaning.
Hello, TO! And hello, all!

it kind of builds off it but not really
ty
exactly cos! LOL
same roots maybe?
Nope. Not same roots! =)
No relation.
But whatever gets it for you is a fine clue! lol =)
I would agree that it's different. It is different to be a 6/24 from something than it is to ab + spot on clothes from something.

see, there's the littoral zone, the intertidal zone, then the continental shelf, then neritic zone, pelagic zone, demersal zone, be7 zone, abyssal zone...
and the be7 i have isnt close to either (I am reading the book now btw)
guess we never did underwater geograophy at my school ;-)
we never quite covered it either o.o
sorta picked it up during my studying for trivia.
my husband knoss those ones... studied marine biology at college
oh.. guess he doesn't. he says "i'm a shore biologist.. not a deep water one" LOL
es6?
es6/18 a parcel of land
es6 - what you leave in your will
lol you always give tough clues :( but thanks i think i can figure it out
good sales!
ah thanks Glan!
again, i didn't have it until you asjked the question - please keep asking those quesrtions LOL
that's how I used to play before I got pro! :oO
fireworks
congrats m9 :o)
woo hoo m919l
lol ill try Glan :P
good evening everyone
anyone need clues? Time for a couple ... but my boy is getting cranky with me being on here
hi {{Mom}} :o)
miffed that rasta isn't in the dictionary
((Dfm)) hello
Hi M9
clue for the bottom right hand corner n would be nice
hmm, I'm pretty sure tossing my tablet in the freezer wasn't the be4 way to deal with its overheating... :o/
ROFL dfm
lol dfm, I don't think so
ah.. that's the one that rhymes with what Shakespear is
no6/21 of or pertaining to the brain or reasons
hi mom!
((TO)) hello, how are you feeling?
no 6/21 - rhymes with how you would describe maya angelou and william shakespeare... just change the first letter to N
my tablet CPU is now barely warm to the touch, but the screen is so4 of cold now...
you really put it in the freezer?
it... was burney? I normally toss it outside, but it's raining...
better now. got sprung today
lol
sprung?
don't get the author clue
and keep seeing phantom notion
what do they write? angelou and shakespeare?
yep
dfm.. maybe you should just set it on a cold pack when in use...
Glantarell, if I read you a poem you might say I am p*****, but change the p to N
were you in the hospital?
*is wondering whether it'ld be a good idea to starve himself more today... going out to a buffet tomorrow... :o/
but it's a tablet, when it's in use I hold it in my hand!
dfm, it is not a good idea.
put one in freezer.... put puter on one... then switch out every once in a while..
hmmm phila delphia has a holiday village market and now has rechristented its christmas tree the holiday tree
...or put it on the table and neglect it.
**fixing open faced roast beef sandwich for dfm
starving.. .not good. fasting ... can be beneficial.. but not good to come off a fast into snarfville...
since idon't celebrate "holiday". i won't stop by when i am in town
oh that stinks TO, we too have a Macy's holiday tree the square
TO - I may be a Liberal but the one thing I disagree with the bleeding heart folks is their "war on Christmas"
i mean what is the world coming to when one can't even have a christmas tree?
I tend to forget to eat quite of5 anyway >.<' just that when I'm conscious of it I call it starving
Gage calls them all "ho ho" trees and "ho ho" lights...
cos: i am not sure what you mean. i donbn't see any hoiliday menorahs
call it what it is.. Chrsistmas. u dontgive out holiday presents or stfuff holiday stockings
I agree TO and Cos
war on christmas? no christmas trees? I am the original bah humbug person but even I have a christmas tree and soem decorations lol
and I make a point of always saying Merry Christmas to everyone
Gage?
:o/ I never understood what was wrong with calling it Christmas...
well they would not DARE call a menorah "holiday" nor a kwaanza symbol "holiday"
me too mom!
but to my jewish friends i say happy Hankukah
my 4 year old
i wont say "happy kwanzaa"
One of my teachers got fired for saying "happy christmas" :o/
yes. but now i guess you should say happy holiday
exactly, Cos. If I know they are jewish I will send them a hankukah card
or at least he called them that last year..LOL
erm, *merry.
well, kawaaza is a cultural celebration.
I will say "happy festivus.. for the rest of us!"
here in the UK we are obviouslt=y unreconstructed because we don;t celebrate kwanzaa or have menukas in public LOL
bull cr** TO, NEVER
well then good you have no controversy
only time I say happy holidays is if I am singing that song
i have a friend who wont take her kids to see santa claus unless he's black. thats going too far. if i had kids id take them to see santa whatever color his/her skin is
casue we have no f8ing idea who we are or what we want in this country ...but i wob't get started
if Christmas isn't okay, why is Easter/Good Friday? :o/
good point!
oh TO, I am in your corner
public schools have good fridays off..
yet they cant say christmas lol
Cos, that is ridiculous
dfm: it isn't
it was invented by a California professor??
and the schools don;t have Christmas break, it is Winter break
a teacher realy got fired for saying happy christas - thge world has gone mad
yes mom, in answer to your earlier question.
It's really sad that people are so down on Christmas.
the schools SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY BREAKS they are off too darn much. a few days and back to work
No one is having a "war on Christmas"- I gladly say merry Christmas to people, but on the other hand, schools and workplaces need to be sensitive to the fact that not everyone is Christian
well here we have "Good Friday" and "Easter Monday" off...
((TO)) was this a result of the accident?
I don't get it - is it because it'sChristian? Are you allowed to recognise the religious festivals for other religions? like ramadan?
and calling a christmas tree a holiday tree is part of that sensitivity?
I Love Christmas!
The kids in our county schools can't sing any songs that mention Christmas, but they can learn about dreidels. That's wrong. I have nothing against Hannukah, but that is wrong.
yeah, Kap, problem is that public workers are not allowed to say "Merry Christmas" at all...
indirectly, mom.
((Red)) hello
TO - I used to think the same.. then i started to work in a school and ill tell ya.. these breaks are necessary or the teachers would end up in a psych. ward
mift
oh TO, I am sorry to hear that. I am glad you are home.
molly if that is true i agree
and yet saying "happy Easter" or "happy Hannukah" is perfectly fine.
hi kap, red, tessa :o)
maybe. maybe not. F* em
It is true TO, I wouldn't have posted it if it weren't. And, the kids in our county schools are off for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
molly - the school i worked in had the same rules
(psst... tessa, there *are* no M words.)
they cant even sing "O Christmas Tree" but.. they can sing "Silent Night'
well yes, so are ours. i am not sure how we are insensitive to those who are not christian
ridiculous
a kindergarten teacher in our county was teaching the children to count and it was near Easter. She was using jelly beans and a parent complained that the school was pushing Easter down her child's throat, so as a result, no more jelly beans.
Say Merry Christmas! That's fine. Hanukkah is not a major Jewish holiday, or any kind of X-mas eqivalent. What county do you live in Molly?
kap: tv stations here push it and light candles efery night with a happy holiday spot. Do you write to them to say you are offended?
they do in NYC, also
Montgomery Kap. The reason the kids are off those two holidays is that when they were open, there were hardly any kids in school. We have a very high Jewish population in this county.
No, Temple. But that is not a fair comparison. It's different when you are a Jewish kid in a district where there are not many Jews- and feeling deprived of something because you don't celebrate Christmas. It was no big deal for me- I grew up in New York, but where I live now, my kids got called various names.
can someone plas tell me the first letters of the 10w?
ab 10/84
tr 10/84
ab10, tr10
meaning an act of not being involved
woo hoo got all the B's nad the F's
kap: i was brought up in an orthodox jewish neighborhood and was tuaght to respect all. political correctness is what we are discussingk, as far as i can tell. policital correctness is not respect. far from it.
now i will move on.
clue for the tr 10 please?
I'm all for being tolerant of all religious persuasions. That doesn't mean eliminating prayer in schools. That means allowing kids not to participate if they so desire. And by the way, I'm an honorary Jew. My Jewish friend calls me his "Irish Shiksa".
you're fine TO
how sweet Molly
tr10/84 a structure with beams
" politically correct" is, in my opinion, a "straw man" set set up to make people feel defensive and under attack when no one is attacking them.
er, stats not clues
for me, please
Molly- you listen to Allan Sherman, you're one of us.
yeah molly, and then people complain about peer pressure... :o/
I learned more about the Jewish religion reading a kids book series called "All Of A Kind Family" than most Jews know. I shock Jewish people when I tell them I know about Purim and Sukkot.
Jumping in temporarily to say I read those books as a kid too Molly, they are so fun!
When I was a little kid in public school there was still Christian-style (hands clasped) prayer in the schools.
Great books. Most Jews don't know those holidays.
And that reminds me, Happy Hannukah to all who celebrate. Pass the gin and tonika, and have a happy, happy Hanukkah.
Now moving away from conversation, as I was educated in a Religious school by my parents choice.
Sukkot?
By the way, I am an equal opportunity heretic. I can't stand fundamentalism of any stripe.
Red! I bought the original in the series on eBay. I feel like I'm eight again when I read it.
ditto. it was that important. at great cost. with no govt help.
and none expected.
I could never make my kids enjoy dusting by hiding pennies in th e parlor.
thanks for the tr10 beams clue. Didn;t know th e word bit the dictionary hellped LOL
I also have a mezuzah by my front door. The scroll inside is a Celtic blessing though. See...Irish Shiksa.
oa5/10?
I bought some GI Joe dolls a few years ago, and dressed them up as Maccabees and put them in the garden with some plastic candles so my house too could have holiday decorations.
I made them tunics out of cloth napkins and drew beards on them with markers.
oa 5/10...describes what things made out of a certain grain are
Cos, quaker makes them + the **tire grid is wearing me down
well molly, interestingly enough, ny papers had a story on those and how orhtodox clergy protested that and wanted them removed from housing where jewish residents had left them when thye died or moved. they thought it was desicration
ty! another word ive seen b4 i need to remember :)
desecration
Desecration? Mezuzah's are blessings. Wow!
cosdem - give me a clue - i know about the cereal but it has 4 letters?
so opnions differ widely on how we are to live together in harmony. the way that is leading is for all to be secular.
Imagine no religion...I wonder if you can...nothing to kill or die for...
i am sure all the critics can agreee that the greenery for the holidays that is acceptable is cash!
See Mom's clue Glant. You have the first part. Then Mom said the **tire grid is wearing her down.
ah, found the 5 letter cereal owrd
ok i was just tryingt o clue it lol
glad u found it
thanks
TO, amen!
I don't "imagine no religion". I imagine a collective soul where it doesn't matter who we pray to or how we celebrate that. Works for me.
lol the news has a story on how you can't bring homemade swets/cupckes/ bake sales in schools.
People just need to enjoy whatever traditions and beliefs make them feel connected, and leave everyone else alone. And without Christmas t lights, December would be really depressing.
so true TO, has been that way for some time here. I am glad that it wasn't that way when the boys were in school
Around here, the no home baked goods rule is because of peanut allergies. Way back when Molly was a kid, there were no kids at school with peanut allergies. What's up with that?
and preferably individually wrapped
Here in the UK there are som many financial cuts in local services that several counties have deicded not t finance christmas lights in some towns thi s year, it's all over the tv news
seems to be a lot of peanut allergies and cheese allergies as well
my hubby says hes allergic to peanuts.... but i knew back then in the goold old days no one was allergic to them so i made some goodies with peanuts.. he ate it all.. i did it a few times.. he ate them...one day i go.. ryan ur not allergic to peanuts
all kinds of allergies - we are all cleaning our homes too effectively and children aren't building up resisitances to things
Oh yeah. I forgot lactose intolerant. No joke. In my elementary school cafeteria most kids had milk and PBJs for lunch. How are all these kids allergic nowadays?
well it is almost 7:00, I should get off my ar** and clear the table and do the dishes. See you later. (((Hugs)))
Thank you Cos! My husband swore he was allergic to apples. Then all of a sudden, he ate some apple slices and nothing happened. I think a lot of it is a mind game.
Night (((Mom)))
and a way for pharmacists to make money
hmm something to be said for not cleaning the house to effectively :-)
I had to drink school milk every day when I was at junior school.i felt sick every day. I haven't drunk milk or felt sick since i was old enough to make a choice - and I am 54
((Molly)) see you tomorrow
no balloons at our school - latex allergies!
LATEX ALLERGIES??? How are these people treated by a dentist?
hey good enough - that is my surname LOL
vinyl gloves is how you get around latex allergies
Okay, that's it. No more house cleaning for me. : P
the first sa5/12?
but i am not sure about latex allwergies and birth control products...
And apparently my kids are allergy free because I taught them the five second rule. Good.
Oh Glant, I just got a very bad visual about that. Ew!
i have 2 sa5/10 but no 5/12
Glan there is no sa 5/10
oh surely you jest, good!
there are only 2 sa 5/12
rhymes with fa5/18
sorry st5/10
oh ok :)
thats the 2nd sa, Good enough. i needed the first one
oops, well it's my first :)
haha ok thats good enough for me then :P
lagging behind as usual...
(belated) bye Mom :o)
I dont have either sa - clues please?
Cos...same beginning as the other one, add frozen water.
ty molly!
weird new word but thanks!
hi, babblers
hi welki :o)
looking back over the chat, i see that like Molly, the five second rule worked for my kids, too :)
well, I have more thn myn usual 33% and the witching hour is here, so night night all *poof*
oh master of the house is home. must go pretend to be wifely.
hello my peeps, how is everyone ?
but i confess i have a hard time with workplace policies that say deodorants, soaps, detergents, shampoos (and of course, perfumes) are not to be scented
welki -- that rule would be effectvie for hospitals
*effective
Welki, unlike other Mothers, I tolerated drinking milk straight out of the carton as well. And add to your workplace policies...no popcorn, fish or cabbage in the kitchen.
that rule is effective where I work welki... also NO artificial fingernails
Hello Lil
Hi Mol!
yes, but i'm talking about offices ... i understand allergies (have some of my own) and how miserable they make you feel, but to regulate household detergent?
It's for the "smell sensitive". Ugh.
lol .. we used to joke at work about writing up a "stinky fish bylaw"
i had a boss who tried to regulate our deodrant, and laundry soap.. we complained to HR... the boss stil refused to listen.. then we complained again. he got fired.
i understand welki... I work in a physical therapy clinic in a medical center, so it's a good rule for us to avoid strong perfume, scented lotion, etc
i'm allergic to folks hanging out of their clothes .. it gives me the willies
im allergic to screaming babies
I'm allergic to idiots. I seem to have problems with that wherever I go.
im allergic to changing diapers
anyone need a clue or two before i commence to dinner-making?
(i'm allergic to housework)
hi lil :o)
(and bad drivers)
i'm just getting started on the grid... no clues needed yet. .... HI dfmch
I can change diapers and soothe a screaming baby, no problems there.
15 left
Cos runs down the home stretch.
okie dokie .. then i'm off to create today's masterpiece. later, people
bye welki :o)
te7?
I like my workplace, I think I've broken just about every rule your workplaces have in the kitchen... :o/
te7 and te8 are small glassy objects believed to have been created in meteoric impacts
hmm do u have a non-scientific clue? :P
it's two letters away from being cloth
te + consonant + not loose
te 7...a lab *** takes a blood sample + your pants feel too **** after you eat a big meal. Add the charged particle for the 10.
molly, the 10 is a tr :oP
Correction, and plural.
hi monk!
helloooooooooooo owel
got it! i was looking in the wrong direction.. ty :)
is it still warm where you are?
it was almost 70 and humid this AM when I went to work, now it is COLD
feels good though
Lil, the temperature drop today was freaky.
why isn't rasta a word
i am afriad to ask what cold is....
You all have some good thoughts for our Soodle. She lost a dear dog of hers this morning.
because. mon
Rasta is not a word, but ganga is. Go figure.
it is 46 here now which doesn't sound that cold, but wind gusts of 20-30 are making it feel quite a bit colder
RIP, soodle's doggie :(
And we don't normally go from Spring to Winter in six hours.
FW

Congrats Cos!!
hey all. bye TO
hi stid :o)

no6/21 of or pertaining to the mind or reasons

Evenin' Stid

It's a very cool science that explores the connection between mind and spirit.
Go Stid Go!
trying to decide if it might be "worth it" to finish the grid. leaning towards no!
(((red))) how are you these days?
I'm Ok. very tired. lots of running. not enough eating apparently.
You? Are you on Holiday yet?
*puts plate with salad, lentil loaf and wild rice in front of red* SO.... EAT!
yes, off school. A couple small tasks to do in the next two weeks, otherwise done.
work for the quarter has been approved and accepted.
Oh sounds yummy. lentil loaf? Hard ot make?

tr8/50 is similar to the tr10/84 (adjectival)
ci8/45 a quote from a book or other source
i'm so confused. i just got an email from my sister saying she would cook christmas brunch at our mom's house....

It looks good I think. The only person who didn't say anything about it is DH; so it mustn't be too shoking a change! :-)
shocking, I meant
haircut, I guess?
i got mine colored today. had to cover up the *cough cough* "blond"
I can't find them. Easier hints please! Hey stid
thanks for the TE words, dfm
dfm was showing his big brain again :)
LOL good!
oh -- need to change the ic4... THIS stidkid is in the DOGHOUSE today (or would be if I had one)
brb
<.< we talked about them in astrophysics class...
why stid?
astrophysics, shmastrophysics. yawn.
can I have a better clue for the te7. Can't get that one
boobear, how about te + consonant + not loose
clue for the first st7 please?
thx ;)

te*hnology is great + stalag**** vs stalagm***

okay, Lucky for ic4
I think I need to go think about supper...
*sigh* bread and water for the stidkid #1.
something nice for the rest of us... stir fry maybe.
Pini. Have you seen the email? MSN. :(
poor stid kid 1. I remember those days
what did the stidkid do?
...not yet, JC...going not to look...
clue for the sa 6 / 21 please
hi pini!
* now
Hey pini. Welcome to the grid!
hi dfm
Stern Mama looks all around in Stidville tonight. Pity the poor Stidkid.
dfmch you went pro!! congratulations and welcome
*waiting to hear what that stidkid did*
wasn't where he was supposed to be, didn't have his phone on, didn't tell us where he was. Says he had talked about it with Tom on the weekend. But if the information doesn't get to ME it is as good as not spoken.
it's winter, dark, no transportation to our home from the city, and I am VERY unhappy with him.
bring on the bread and water, stid
it was a surprise for me too, bugs :o)
oh-oh MAJOR infractions for stid kid! Never make a mama worry!
Dang. Generation after generation, kids forget the one important thing. MAKING THE PHONE CALL TO LET MOM KNOW WHERE THEY ARE.
*grumble*
surprise dfm?
*kicks pillows*
well specialt thanks go to your early Santa too then dfm
And the "I didn't have change for the pay phone" thing is obsolete. Now it's "my battery wore out". RIGHT.
well, where he was, phone calls are FREE.
his current excuse? "I didn't know dad's (new) cell phone number" -- but he knows our HOME number!
and to be honest, he DID call the house (eventually)
so how did he get home then, stid?
a long hike in the dark and cold might have been the best consequence
bets
* sigh * thx for the note, JC :(
tom was still in town looking for him -- our roads are barely safe to walk along during daylight -- too many drunks twixt here and there
oops, I'm in the PB now
go bugs go!
I'm on MSN, Pini.
*puts lovely sugar cookies and fudge in PB*
hello JC
Too creepy of a world to let kids walk around at night.
Hello, stidmama.
bugs get cookies, stidkid gets nada!
yes, and with his stature he looks much younger than he is. There are real creeps out there.
that's the size of it, good!
Pini - Frank's just logged in too.
Glad he's home safe Stid. I'm sure lessons will be learned.
probably not, Molly -- he does this about four times a year.
was he smart enogh to show some remorse?
(switched to where I won't goof up again) I could save some cookies for stidkid and share them once they are stale but that would be mean
someday, he will be living on his own in town and it won't be an issue for us any more. But because he doesn't drive and we live in a rural area for now it does matter
Hormones are a terrible thing Stid. They are so much easier to deal with before the advent of hormones. And their eyes don't roll as much.
stale sounds a lot nicer than what I would give him! (nada)
would greetings to JC and Frank be accepted from me? I do hope so
LOL Molly!
*Waving to JC* : D
sometimes i feel like it almost harder with cell phone. we expect to get them at a moments notice at any time. the frustration ( and fear) level ramps up when you can't get them.
my mom gets mad at me all the time because I don't notice that my cell phone has gone off x.x
quite right good enough... we could get away with a lot of things back before cell phones, answering machines, call waiting, etc
hmm, there needs to be a flag for "The Universe". >:o(
we got the phone because this kid doesn't call or plan or ... there are "issues"
patience and understanding, stid. is
and now you know why dfm ---- parents go straight to panic mode. we do not collect $200
"issues" can cover a lot of ground though, and of course some things are non-negotiable.
tom is home. stidkid is going straight to the doghouse. *prepares stern mama look*
or pass Go
i'm with ya. half assed should be my beloved son's middle name :)
as i often tell parents at school, I am awfully glad I raised my kids before.. things are far more complicated these days
Hmmm, Bugsaw? Why wouldn't they be?
Hi, MollyL.
I am not sure if I am in the doghouse too? I hope not
no bugs, not you
hey stid
hey pini
I could be in JC's doghouse tho with Valerie and Alfie (who I think are pretty well treated at the worst of times)
hey dfm, got a fancy definiton clue for be7? ;)
clue for tr 8 please
What on earth are you talking about, Bugsaw?
I'm not understanding this - why would you be?!
Quite lost and confused here, I'm sure?
IF you are not mad at me then I am HAPPY and will continue to greet and visit with you as always JC. No worries on this end.
I have a BA 7...
no TR anything yet.
be7...I be** in half + you can get the ***cups from drinking too much
hello Boo!
oooh. thanks Molly!
what a word! thanks molly
thanks Molly
yay, thanks Molly
What on earth would've made you conclude that, Bugsaw, when we've hardly had any communication, much less any conflict of any sort? Bewildering.
ooh, fancy definition clue would have been be7 zone of a lake or ocean
hi stid
thanks dfm, couldn't figure out WHY I knew that word. now I do!
oh you kill me d!
sorry, trivia studying gives me a lot of... well, trivial knowledge.
well, down to 44
I think I am going to rest my eyes a bit. back later if I can. *poof*
ah well, it's good to have you here
Please don't worry about it now JC. I have done enough for the both of us
peace, stid!
rest well stid :o)
hugs stid
problem with trivial studying is that I know too little about too much... and I only know the most important basics... for example I know what a Zwitter ion *is*, but have no idea why or how they occur... or where the word Zwitter comes from, for that matter :o/
brb
but they play Trivia games at pubs or where you can play to win for charity dfm
(and not knowing the source from where a word comes is a big issue for me, I tend to learn words through etymologies more than by context or definition.)
Bugsaw, I can't imagine whatever has made you conclude that, I really can't? :(
yeah, but the upper-year trivia players have us be4 ;o)
af 5 clue plz?
something is af5!
or maybe it's a hand...
watson, the game is af***
If neither of us was offended by anything, we have nothing to worry about JC. Let it go. I am just glad that I did not ever offend in any way because I never try to. Sometimes I offend people but it is purely accidental. Still, an accidental offence should be fixed too.
after not in grid. i am confused
and at least half the questions from pub trivia games or TRASH (Testing Recall About Strange Happenings) packs are about modern entertainment... and I know next to nothing about that...
got it.
Strange happenings are af5! (or maybe they're a hand, who knows.)
as 7 clue plz

for real welki? not just when you are going fishing?
<-- would like a bathrymetric map to read
ii love maps too... a very strange obsession sometimes, but don't know bathrymetric maps
www.anglersatlas.com has some .. not as great as paper, but for a quick fix, it'll do
they're like topo maps, but of water areas
stid, for folks like me, it's important to know the area you're fishing. i'm pretty serious about it, so yes, i'll look at them all year (helps with ice fishing, too)
still dont get be 7. help plz
besides, like dorens, i'm a map junkie
i dunno.. think i like land AND water together
which 7, mkg?

I was born, in a crossfire hurricane.

dont have it peri.
what is the group that the musical jersey boys is about?

TO, working in ICU all those years I found the easiest way was to use alcohol and soap. It really isn't easy to remove; sometimes it's easier to just let it wear away if the skin is too tired
co5/12 add a seeing letter to the co4/5
lol no they didn't! they liked mick for sure. they said things i didn't understand for years about him
TO, try some Vaseline or other moisturizer then scrubbing with a warm face cloth.

it's ha-LAY-na, actually
Hi sarinator! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
ahh, that was my next try.
ha, it's one of those names no one gets on the first try
Very well. I've been on here for awhile, just lurking.
the state capital of Montana is Helena...helen ah, and it gets pronounced all sorts of ways
people often ask if that capital was my namesake (it wasn't)
citation
oops!!
they say "oh, as in Montana?" and i tell them the montana capital is pronounced differently
Thanks sarinator!
I think you have a lovely name no matter how it is pronounced
thank you!
Hi all. I wanted a be13 word (a step on the way to being declared a saint) to be in the grid right from the start. But it isn't.

Or if the snowfall is short enough?
my eyes are done for the day. (((hugs all))) see you-all tomorrow! *poof*
no, snow doesn't strictly melt above 0C...
night night, Stiddy
cold enough in the air for snow, warm enough on the ground to melt as it hits. *repoof*
Goodbye stidmama! I will see you tomorrow in the log!
Just like how icecubes stay frozen for a while even if you leave then on the counter, snowflakes don't tend to melt in the air.
i'm still having trouble with the second te 6/18
night stid! :o)
i don't think the weather liars are thinking straight. If it's snowing that much here we are definitely going to get an accumulation of snow! it's now going to just disappear.
I've seen hour-long rainshowers during which the ground is never soaked...
Just a bit of useless information I was sad enough to work out after my daughter's graduation ceremony. 704 females graduated but only 250 males. However, the subject matters covered may have influenced this. Most were teaching or childcare, English or theology degrees, my daughter got a BA in History and Politics. There were more males there.

Incidentally, there was a Robert Browning getting a degree (not in English, btw) at the graduation ceremony. There was also a girl whose (dad, I assume) had just fallen short of naming her Sharon Stone by giving her Sharon as a 2nd Christian name.
Goodbye lbdawger! I will see you tomorrow in the log!

I think i hit a wall. I've tried all my te 4/4s plus a vowel and i'm not getting anywhere.
i've probably stared at this too long
There were 4 students named Melanie (that's my daughter's first name).
I was also pleased to see that my given name is not dead yet; there were 3 Jacquelines.
That last te 4/4 word is an exam plus a vowel HelenaB
oh, poop, I have that one, min! i think i was asking for a clue to one i had!
oh, i don't have the last 5/10
I was surprised to see how many times the name Louise or Louisa or Lois is used, mostly as a 2nd name. My daughter got Louise because it was my Dad's Mum's name. 66 girls had that name.
and the last te 6/18. then i'm done!
However, no one but my daughter had Layla as a name. *smiles broadly*
Helena - plural of the te5 before it.
13 people graduated in some form of Creative Writing. Damn! 13 new young rivals for me.
ha, jac, i don't have the te 5 before it
The te 6/18 word is plural of the te 4/4 word HelenaB
te5/10 word sounds like beginning of a video game in the 80s&then plural that for the te 6/18 word Helena
Helena - it's a type of fish, or an anagram of 'treat'.
I should have refrained from doing this grid.Still can't get the stupid ab 10/84 word for the life of me Jacula
min - it's ab + heart valve related item + charged particle
Min - try this for the ab10 - ab + snake + canvas home + charged particle. Hope that hepls.
*helps, I meant.
FIREWORKS!!!
Thanks SO MUCH everyone!
Well done Helena. *~*~*~*~*
congrats helena! :o)
min - how's the ab coming?
Great job!
Min will get it from my clue, I hope!
ofts
i keep doing that! sorry
ab 10/84 = ab + thing placed in arteries to keep them open + charged particle
I assume she knows I'll never say 'snake letter'!
"ofts" was not found in the dictionary
i know
Congratulations HelenaB on fireworks!Hooray for you
hahaha, i get your clue now, jac - very clever
Helena - I thought about that clue, but didn't know hw medically minded Min might be.
I GAVE UP on AB10!
:-(
ofts isn't in the dictionary because there is no plural of it.
:o( minv, don't give up!
I'm playing wordtwist now. I know there are no AB 10 words in that grid!
Min - don't you dare give up. It's been spelled out now by a couple of us.
jac's clue is the cutest
min - ab 10 means not voting
hi all
ab 10 = muscles worked by doing crunches + thing you stay in when you camp + charged particle
ok, bed time! thanks everyone for your help and good luck!
ab10 can mean not voting, but it can also mean not giving into drink, drugs etc.
Hello big red! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Hubby is about to make me give up computer w/1 left
Can someone tell me what a person in USA means when they say 'cute' or 'cutest'? Do you mean childlike cute or clever?
I'm done! I have fireworks! ab 0/84 was my last word
HelenaB's clue did it, but thank you all for all the clues
I ask because I took exception a while ago to someone form US calling someone else from US's prize-winning speech 'cute'.
*from not form US.
I know my monkeys tried that particle ending earlier.
I wish I could stay to clue, but that ab10 word wiped me out!Plus it's my husband turn to use the computer
Oh, okay Min. See you during another grid then. Stay well and happy. x
Sometimes it can mean childlike cute and it can mean to be clever. But most often it means childlike cute.
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I'll see you tomorrow
Min - thanks for explaining. Same as here in UK then.
Glad I took exception to it now, on behalf of a US lady who wrote and performed a damned good speech.
back ... hi all ... here to finish my last 10 ... as7?
a + electricity that makes your hair stand on end.
thx jac ;)
y/w
does the be7 extend the be4?
no.
Well, it does, sort of.
it relates to the bottom of a lake. Sounds like be4/6 with a hiccup/
* thinking *
Perhaps a drunken person trying to sound sober when saying they are 'gay' and then failing?
hmmm ...
Or a drunken person trying to explain why something that was formerly straight is now be4/6 and then hiccoughing.
got it! LOL
Well done Pini! \Sorry for the awful clues.
The clues are only 'easy' once you know the word.
