hey gort, jilli, dfm
hi granny
hey granny r
i got it too
1/2 way! rest for tomorrow
how did you go yesterday?
as you can see, i'm still alive
did you get persecuted?
or just shoved around a bit
50 left now, and so to bed...*poof
went rsther well. several of the congregation thanked me after
nighty night jilli
thought so granny, prayed along those lines
only one heckler, thank goodness....
g'night jilli
nite jilli
you got a heckler??? what kind of church is this?
what happened granny?
and can i join?
see you at bridge, flosey
i love a good heckling :)
yes, jilli
lol, it's ok....i think she wasn't used to going any deeper than skin deep...i made them think and work hard on those questions
ata-girl granny
so did you go the full monty and bare your soul?
made sure there was a severely depressed person in each group, and encouraged them to speak up...
lol granny, how on earth did you do that... "put your hand up if you're severely depressed"??\
"if you're depressed and you know it clap your hands..."
made a few eyes pop...lol....and then i threw a curly one at them...the DVD was set in a maze...and i asked what the significance of the maze was in the DVD
gort, i'm pastoral care co-ordinator...i know who they are.
fair enough, then what happened?
well, that was when the heckler started...she was dying for a coffee...but the rest wanted to discuss the topic...so let her lie there and bleed...not reaslly, i did acknowledge her words, but moved onto what everyone else wanted to do
sounds like you handled it well
hi all
hi jmc
granny are you talking about your sermon on gratitude?
hey again jmc, getting the low-down on granny's sermon
i discussed that the maze was symbolic of life...shadowing our perceptions and blocking our view of what is good. the lookouts in the maze represented when a light goes on and you can actually see what is good
oh hey there flos didn't see you there
hey jmc
ooh apt analogy
hi gort
wd granny i thought of you in Meeting for Worship today
thanx jmc, i survived..and no tar and feathers either *grin*
a woman gave a message about gratitude today!
sounds like you had it well under control granny
well there you go...must be in the water, so to speak
well it is way past my bedtime--just wanted to peek in before i collapsed
goodnight all!
nighty night then jmc
nite jmc, sleep well, hun
g'night jmc
so in conclusion, God used your message for the betterment of its hearers?
yes, gort. quite a few said how much they enjoyed it, and how much they had learnt
well swizzle my martini and marinate my feta, that's cause for celebration!
i tend to use my preaching time as teaching time, don't hand anything to them on a platter, they have to nut it out
jolly good
*giggle* my last sermon was on "thanks" when i researched for it, i found seven different words for thanks in the bible..each very different
what are they?
learn me granny, learn me good
not fair... will have to look the actual words up again...but they are different ways of giving thanks.
oh well you can give me the readers digest version
or you can just put your feet up and have a breather if you want
i gotta go brew up dinner for the assorted offspring and spouse, cheerio for now
well, you can thank in words/prayer, thank in song, thank in humility, on your knees, thank in music,
give thanks in dance, thank as a group and thank by doing any combo of them all
lol, and i must get off my soapbox and let others chat, thanx to all for allowing me the time and space. see you all at the flip...and no sermon, i promise
quite inspirational granny
evening babblers! happy new year! xox
hi mrp, and happy new year to you and family
:) flosey xox
I am certainly out of practice!! But my new year resolution is to get back on babble more often!
will be glad to see you more often mrp
thanks flosey. need to kick the brain back into focus with the grid... I can't even see basic words!
i have been rooting around for the sq for too long... and it took me to sq6 to see it!
lol, and there's an as7
thanks flosey
for the first hour tonight I wasn't seeing much, then kicked into gear
yw mpr
so there is maybe hope for me!
if for me, then by all means
it has been so long since I have played, I feel seasick looking at the letters!
I do understand that feeling
how have you been flosey? and are the other babblers all good?
blah
me, fine, thanks, and most seem to be well - little hitches here and there
but many of them talk things out
hitches? the chat is usually friendly, but hope they sort it
hi Flosey and MRP
hi lynxx! happy new year luvy!
oh yes, mrp
hi again lyn
and to you too MRP - hope this year is a great uneventful one for your family
I'm still plodding on! - should have gone to bed an hour ago when I was tired, seem to have aquired a second wind
bloody better be!! adios to 2010... looking to the future
no bed for you flosey! it is new year holiday after all!
but of running around to do tomorrow, as well as bridge in the afternoon
**bit of
never played bridge! I really should get someone to teach me
it's a great game, had to learn when I married hubby - think he cut his teeth on a deck of cards - but we learned bridge together
there are social clubs around in country towns here... i haven't seen any in our area though
good morning everybody
hello ruby
morning Ruby
happy new year flosey!
{{lynxx}}
I used to love bridge, but haven't played in more than 40 years
ty ruby, and to you
hi ruby! happy new year :)
is everybody all recovered from the big weekend?
hello mr. p and good riddance 2010! Let's hope this is a banner year for everybody, especially healthwise!!!
and no more "teaser" q's hahah
you'll laugh ruby - we were in bed, exhausted, by 10:30 pm! on new year's eve
we can only look forward to it ruby!
makes sense to me! husband was asleep by 11; I had to stay up to comfort dogs because of fireworks in the village and idiots tooting their car horns
well ruby, I guess we all did our share of in our younger years
we were outside until 1.30am with the kids having a water fight... it was very hot
a water fight in the heat! unimaginable in this climate but a very nice image!
I heard that Europe was going through a hell winter
my all-time best NYE was spent with one other couple, playing cards and eating...AFTER 1st husband and before 2nd (hahah)
we are lucky in these mountains; we had a lot of snow, but it's all gone and the temps are slightly above normal. It almost feels like spring
how did you manage that ruby??
just lucky, I guess. Also, living in the country, aside from being snowed in for two days, it is less of a big deal than living in a big city and having to go to work.
Paris and London (and NY) were all terrible
I think I will be doing that when the kids move out!
because of the lake, I think our climate is more temperate than some other parts of France
ruby, we played bridge quietly, with a couple of great friends when we were no longer up for an evening of dancing, but even that was over 15 years ago
How far were you from the flooding, Mr. P?
the flooding is the size of France and Germany put together!!
we played poker, hahah, but rarely get to dance any more
playing bridge on New Year's sounds absolutely perfect!
we are south of the flooding, it has pretty much destroyed Queensland... and the flooding is as close as 400km away
I had no idea it was so large, mr.p! That is astonishing
it was, quiet, and sometimes still didn't make it to midnight!
we haven't had a newspaper since last week
if you go to www.smh.com.au
that will give you our news at the very least on the floods
I'm down to 16 words and starting to fade fast, will say goodnight all, be back sometime tomorrow to pick up these 16 words
hello
bye bye flosey! lovely to see you darling
I'm writing it down. My friend in Hervey Bay said that house iinsurance in Australia doesn't cover floods
happy new year infern! :) xox
Back at you
Happy New Year herin!!
Good morning Mr President and Happy New Year greetings from Liverpool. Those floods looked awful on the news. Our thoughts go to all the victims.
sweet dreams fast-fading flosey!
it does cover floods, just not in flood prone areas
hello to Liverpool!
Ruby that depends on the company. Most insurance companies are not nice and do try to weasel out of claims
that makes sense
hi scouser... happy new year to you! The flooding is only going to get worse over the next few days too. 22 shires are under water
Hi Scouser
I have a question please
all ears.....
Is it rude to ask someone to bring something to a dinner or lunch say like a desert then make them pay a fee for the food.
I guess it depends on the intimacy of the friendship
yes infern.... if it is in your home... but if it is a planned party, that is fine
if the ground rules are laid out in advance
Ok let me rephrase.
i planned a party for my brother, asked people to pay for room hire ($5 each) and to bring a finger food dish... it was all on the invite
Ok let me restart my brain spaz
qu8?? don't see it!
At Christmas we were invited to a family function. I asked if I was to supply a plate of something like desert. So I did. I made a fruit and cheese platter as requested. We spent about $50 and then were asked to pay $25 for the pair of us as a contribution to lunch. I think this is just rude as some people bought nothing. I understand $5 room fee and such and a small dish
I agree with you, herin, that is not fair and somewhat deceptive
that is very rude infern... if you were not told, you were duped
I would have packed up my cheese platter for starters....
how could they do that?
In the past we had paid but we didn't bring anything. I think it is rude to ask.
I do, too. Did they expect to make a profit?
then make someone pay. I am of the mind to say next Christmas stuff everyone and spend a fortune at a nice hotel and pig out
into
whoops, having herin's cheese in the PB!
que8 I think has something to do with oak trees
don't bring anything again... did you offer to bring food? or did they ask you to
I said to a friend that I would rather work at a Christmas lunch kitchen and be appreciated. I said would you like me to bring something.
I tend to try and bring a house gift
that is just rude rude rude!
your idea for next year sounds grand!
BTW, herin, you are almost in the grid -- phantom herin
I would rather donate my time and help a needy cause and be appricated. As for the QU 8 looking now
found two with that ruby
qu8 word has similar form to the hi7/36 word
Scouser do you have a kitty?
I did, too, mrp. Do I have to go to the PB again?
aircon should so be a word!
no ruby! it was a good find
we have a little brown fluffy mouse living in the sunflower seed bag in the garage. Husband is afraid of it, but it's very cute and I will not set a trap!
Yes herin: a large one a scaredy-cat agoraphobic - but no matter as I live in an upstairs flat.
Awww.
little fluffy mice = huge deadly venomous snakes here :)
We took our cats outside on their leads today. They loved it
that is so cute, herin
do you have a photo?
our only bad snakes are little vipers, not so cute!
Some were Ruby but I don't think onhere
what kind of snakes, mrp? Were they a nasty problem in the flooding?
yep... all the snakes are trying to find high ground
that is a very scary idea
I still don't have the hi7 or the que8!
http://tinyurl.com/393eug4
This is Pandora.
neither do i ruby
qu8 rear end of word is for films front end for oak
hi7 is all goat
got the q, ty scouser
will look into that scouser! :) thanks
Thanks got it too
and the hi! yay
any clues for qu7/36 please?
I had better get dressed now
plural of qu6
sorry I mean qu7/40
qu7, like 5 + vowel, then plural
first vowel
Thanks ruby and mr p
Ok I am going for a while. Take care everyone
What are the customs regarding the penalty box? I fell into it a couple of days ago. I presume I am allowed out now?
bye infern
Loves
scouser, you go in... you provide goodies... you get out after jumping in the hot tub.
Hmm...... no hot tubs in top-floor flats! Box of biccies here though.
if you find mamabear in the hot tub... you will wanna stay for a few days!
didn't you know about the hot tub in the PB??
no - I am only new to Babble's chatterbox. Babble is just wonderfully addictive. I love it and Scrabble equally though Babble beats everything hands down on the computer.
next time you are in the PB, find the hot tub and pour some champagne... people will join
OK, thanks. meanwhile, on with the words.
ah, the japanese car is back
arso
darst
ONE AGAIN, MAY i APOLOGISE FOR MY CAT WHO WAS RUNNING ABOUT ON THE KEYBOARD . Please send her to the sinbin, she's being horrid today.
The cat didn't put the letters in but she somehow managed to move the cursor over. Is it a funny time for cats as the other cat, who usually likes me is also not speaking to me?
The keyboard cat looks exactly like scouser!
on hold with nespresso
I remember when I first joined Babble that anyone was welcome in the Chat Log but not anymore. I have noticed how you freeze out those you do not want to join in. Don't worry I very very rarely come on to chat and then only for a minute so you can resume your 'so very private conversations'
Morning Pat, if you look at the time on the right hand side of the chat log you will se it was quiet for 1/2 an hour before you came in.
I know bout the quiet periods and I have also noticed how some people are frozen out, which will upset some people. I'm bulletproof!
here
lol good for you.
Morning UK. It has changed this last year Pat - there is simply not as much chat - I know I feel less inclined to chat as some people are unwelcoming
Morning all.....and I agree with Pat entirely.......am very often a victim of it!!
Evening Lynxx and morning Flask.
Iron Sudoku wouldn't even answer a query about the game, not chat.
I need to get myself a bullet-proof jacket!
da4, 10am already. I must be away. Back later.
Morning.
bye Mitch!
bye FM
hi Hydra HNY
I'm rarely deliberately rude and I do care about people in trouble but I acept we are all different.
morning Hydra!
HNY to you, too, lynxxx!
Hello Pat. I got in a nasty situation through the chat log, so I didn't come on for a while. But I'm back now.
Scouser, you still there?
Its very easy to get into trouble on here......and justlike Hydra....I disappear now and again.....
its the easiest way to deal with it!!
When it happens for the first time, it is really upsetting. Like you, I just disappeared and babbled with the chog hidden.
I play Babble every day, right through the day and have done for years. Love it but I don't get time to chat as well and often can't get back to finish the grid.
I think Pat has the right attitude. I am not a rude person and always try to be polite, but some folks are really snippy.
Well then, it's very nice to meet you here, Pat.
However, some people need you to be rude to them......cos' they are so full of their own importance, and nee to be brought down a peg or two!
Thank Hydra and Flash. Nice to hear from you and it might give some confidence to some of the quiet ones to now that there are all types of folk here. Mostly nice.
I can vouch for scouser. She is my oldest friend in the whole world.
However, I think she has left us now!
I have to put some slap on now and go visiting. Be back babbling as soon as I get in again. Can't resist. Scouser's cat looks exactly like my keyboard cat, who even now is glaring at me because she wants to play on it. When I turn off I have to turn it upsidedown and cover it. Bye for now,
Have a lovely day, Pat. You can see my cat in my icon.
Bye Pat!
bye Pat
I shall be back later, too. Happy Babbling!
see ya Hydra!
very happy! I just fixed the coffee machine with telephone instructions -- in French! yay
I thought it was dying
well done Ruby
ty lynxx! I thought we needed a new machine; we drink A LOT of coffee
it is so hard to get anything done here; we have been almost 5 weeks without cable TV
{{lynxx}} haven't reached half but nbt at least!
Good girl...sorry was concentrating on getting down to 40
Well done rubyfoo. Hydra: see you later too when you log back on. And Hallo to Flask up there in border-land. I have friends who live in the debatable-land at Gretna and one who was at Tundergarth (not sure if she has moved now).
And Patxxx welcome back. AS a newcome, I have found the multi-input nature of the chatlog can make it look as if people are being rude: but really it is just the intermix of several conversations. It's like knitting.
and there is my 40...bye Ruby & Scouser
bye lynxxx
Hello anyone. any clues for the mo 6/24 and mo7 please?
mo + what is on your head
and the pl
Ah a furry clue thanks
yw
i nto
Good morning all.
And ty Frances - my first word :-)
phone
Back.
Back too. Just finished the Q words.
Only have two Q words so far :-(
Do you need a clue?
I have 3, but I have to head to that thing called work in about oh 4 minutes.
Must be a time for cat-persons just now.
Not yet, only just started hydra, but thanks!
Grand total of 24 words so far.
Morning, scouser. I should be working...
Hallo scouser, haven't seen you before in the chat log I think, but my times on here are a bit varied atm.
and me. I am a sauna pant person...
Hmm ...... I have lost my voice and the o2 transmitter locally for the phone is on the blink so I am incommunicado except e-mail and this.
That conjures up strange images, red! All I wear in the sauna is a towel.
Thanks for telling me, scouser. I shan't ring you then!
see my Ic** hydra for some worse images!!!
Hello Sally-c-l I am a newcomer.
lol red at the ic** and welcome scouser.
OK I am off. see you all later much later!
Oh, OH! I need some, red! The thighs could do with shrinking a size.
Well Hydra you could ring me on the landline and I could croak simple replies - make a change from the usual large chunks of advice ! But I don't want to move from this comfy chair to the landline. Later.
Yes, later. And email will do just as well. Defo not going ahead with that flat. Will go and see other one, as yo suggested. Sorry for the private conversation, folks!
75 words left. Sally, scouser, how many do you have?
I have 30 - but haven't been on long. I don't usually chat until I'm half way, or have 100, or something, but just felt like it today.
I got 25. searching for the st- words at the min. It's these little ones that are the n*******
Should say, I /have/ 30, 139 left - not the other way round.
I meant I got 25 left to do.
I have all the st's, so if you need a clue...
I got one animal one vapour one hole and two porches. What is left?
Has anyone got a clue for the AS7, please?
wonky look
Thanks. Got it. Didn't know that was a word.
what about the st- ones?
There is a preponderance of black and white creatures here at the mo!
Do you have any at all, scouser?
There's a male deer, something you walk up, something that comes out of a kettle...
Hydra: Got those: see below re animal etc. there are two missing still.
morning all! I have 7 STs... how many are there?
Do you have the Greek colonnaded walk?
There are 8, lilmonkey.
OK thanks, hydra... and YES i have the greek colonnaded walk
Hydra: yes I do that's the porches. Just one to go now.
And the walk's plural. And the final st5/10 is a small opening or bodily aperture.
yes i have both of those too
hmm what am i missing
The 5/14 is a tricky one. It's the male deer with an added vowel.
have that one
Hydra: the walk up cannot be plural only one s. Got the aperture. Aha: the scots are in on it. got them all now.
i must be missing a fish
lil, it's st4/6, st5/14, 5/10,5/12, 4/4, 5/10, 5/10 and 5/12, if that helps.
scouser, it's pluralised in the Greek way.
got it! it was the other st5,10 that ends with a vowel
Sorry, not the walk up, the porch.
thanks hydra
They're always tricky, monkey!
scouser, the porch ends with a vowel, and the next one ends with a different vowel
Morning all. Great clueing going on! Stumped on as7,40 pls
scouser gave a great clue for that at 5.28
what does wonky mean?
askew. Putting it another way, it's the 5/16 with a consonant prefix.
Ah - will look with that in mind
Must go now. Faced with all those co words, I'm going to start work! Laters. *poof*
OK thanks
wonky must be a north-of-England word.
For me this morning wonky = thick!
Hydra: you will need to be some of the longer co- words in order to acquire some of the smaller co- words. Byee
it's a no for the as7 for me. will return later!
smaandmea : try peering at the word
Scouser You are a Gem. Good clue.....thank you
Good clue scouser, ty
as 7 is a word that means scrunching your eyes up to see something better.
any clue for ho5/14 please

Molly, did I see a post yesterday saying the cat had been found?
no
the cat was found???????
i did a pillow once but never finished
Thank you Molly!
boo, i am close to finishing a quilt that i have been working on for 10 years lol
good for u
wow lil monkey was that cos you dont have time or like me just like to do little bits now and them when the mood takes you
i'm going to post a pic when i have finally finished... it is a block quilt made entirely of old Hawaiian shirts
kaz, it took so long because i was collecting the shirts for all that time
that sounds fun lil
Yep, my son and his wife found their cat after she was missing 23 days. They are VERY happy.
that sounds like real dedication
i was very picky about the fabric... i wanted it to be hawaiian shirts that are actually from Hawaii. One of the shirts I used was my father's

Great news Molly, do they know where it was for all that time? so pleased for a happy ending.
It was a nice way for the family to start the New Year. Lil, can't wait to see a picture of your quilt. That will be a family heirloom.

incost
ma5 even...they feel dry and crispy kap...
OOps.
I liked that book!
and thank you for the ma5!
I loved "The Lost Symbol". I've read it three times. Can't wait for the movie.
it was typical dan brown..a roller coaster....
i read 6 books in 4 days...( no net...over the holidays)
Once I start his books, it is very hard for me to put them down. I remember being up until 3AM reading "The Davinci Code".
Me too! I think that is why I don't read more...I start a book and can't put it down!
i like his rollercoaster but i wish he did more character development...
i did all of my daughters vapire diaries ( all 4), the lost symbol and hush hush...another of my daughter's books...
not that that says much... but keeping track of all the diff characters....a bit of a whirlwind
funny that - didnt like the lost symbol much. my favorite was Angels and Demons
i am not a big dan brown fan at all...was something brain dead to read
i like clive Cussler for thosetype of books best

I'm getting dizzy with all the bendy words in this grid.
yes a very twisty one today, Molly.
I feel like I'm in a labyrinth. I'm waiting for David Bowie to show up.
lol
hello babble friends. wow, barely managed nbt today!
it took me ages and i am watching love actua;;y

good morning everyone;)

Hi crossy, another day another grid
she does indeed;)
or4 , Champ.
I am at rather loose ends today. The house is fairly tidy still, after the new year's fete, and I am still recovering from the flu, but dont want to spend another day just sitting around either.

goats fur flask
hello all
type of soft wool from a goat flask
Excellent clues thanks ,Kallia & Bichon :-)
Hi Kallia and thanx! Hi to Bichon and thanx to you too!
ugh - "right" is such a phantom today! anything with the phoneme, actually - might, sight, tight, etc
anyone know what the 10 starts with please?
in
thanks Kaz...will go search
phantom "hostage"
oh, good one crossy! excellent
it means not being able to speak clearly - with rage or drunkeness
coherent
lol ty trif;)
flip....lol
oops Kallia off to the PB
very nice kallia
dammit kallia!
but i do not like grids where all the great words are phantoms
yep. what's in there?
means the thing is full of babblets
too many i's for me....I have really come to dread that letter
oh, crossy, btw - would it be okay for me to ask you yet another handyman question?
whenever i get stuck,i look for words that start with vowels, cause that seems to be what i always miss
fire away trif
Trif, you did start with your "always missed word" today right? Because it's a go.
I think I need to put some sort of stuff around the edges of my front door, and definitely the door to the garage. weatherstripping, I think it is called.
Molly! You are the sweetest thing! I did remember to enter it, yes, thank you!
it is indeed
many hardware stores sell good weatherstripping
you can get "soft" or hard stripping
anyway, the door to the garage is metal, and so is the frame, so how do I put it on there? I think adhesive woudl just fall off, right? is this something you staple on, or what?
not staples, for metal on metal aplications, they sell stripping with a thin metal spine attached to it and you just use self tapping metal screws to apply it
hmm. so it is up there forever then? not some seasonal thing I have to take on and off?
trif -- if you only need it on the bottom of the door, i highly recommend the Twin Draft Guard. we have them in our house, and they work great! nothing to attach to the door. (i also had a metal door and had issues with the weatherstripping)
measure you door and give those dimentions to the hardware store guy and tell them where you wish to apply it
why take it off?
I was wondering about those, eva.
they can be a little annoying, as sometimes they move (since they arent attached to the door) and you have to readjust them to shut the door... but overall, we have found them invaluable.
thanks crossy. there is a new, smaller hardware store the next town over, and the manager is a PET - so eager to advise, and I would love to get to know them and give them as much business as possible, rather than just visit the huge orange store
no need to take of weatherstripping once applied
a good hardware store guy can be a great friend indeed
you have to readjust them every time, eva? that sounds like a big pain actually
not every time, no. just occasionally.
a little nudge with the foot is all it takes.
i put new weather stripping on once every 3-4 years
around entry door and patio doors
occasionally I could live with. There is a HUGE gap between the bottom of the garage door and the floor of the kitchen, and I have one of those draft dog things there, but the real dogs keep stealing it to chew on....
but they only address drafts at the bottom of doors ... not the drafts around the edges (or the garage)
why so often crossy? does it wear out?
trif, for large bottom door gaps there is a weather stripping for that as well it is a kick plate with a rubber edging
i tried the weather stripping crossy was talking about, but once attached to the bottom of my door, it wasnt long enough to fill the entire gap. thankfully, under the door was our only issue.
up here it does trif
it compresses over time, trif
it can indeed
sigh. the thrills of home ownership never end, do they? it's funny, I didn't realize how much I didn't know until I was left in charge of all it, suddenly
To be fair, if I suddenly vanished from the earth and mr hate had to take on all I did (ahem - rear the children) he would be in the same predicament
and if the bottom gap is huge, remove the door and shim the bottom out with 1x2 strips till the gap is no more that 1/2 inch
its a metal door, crossy, so I wouldn't know how. I think I would go at it with my glue gun and make bob vila weep
clue for oc7/32 please?
so if it is metal,it is a fire rated door, and is of no use with a monster gap on the bottom
they have 2 part epoxy,s that will stick anything to anything else lol
the mega millions jackpot was HUGE last week - something like 242 million, so I bought a ticket, for the second time in my life....I LOVED thinking of all the good I could have done with that money, and one of the first things on my list was some sort of divorce center for women that would offer classes in just these very things.
hey, maybe I should ask the new hardware store guy to offer classes.....
untill then ,i will help as i can
you really are a prince, lord melbourne!
home depot has classes for beginners .. why make classes separate for one group of homeowners?
crossy bows and tips his cap
the vendor (home depot or local hardware guy) would make more money opening classes to everyone, that way no one feels left out or as if they can't attend
i was in construction for 10 years..picked up a few bits and pieces lol
seriously, I have so many good ideas! A performing arts center for my town, with music, drama, painting rooms, dance classrooms....a town pool, with diving end....a daycare center, teen hangout, artsy movie cinema (there are NO screens of art within 20 miles of me) and money for churches....and then of course, the divorce center, and college tuition for all my kids, nieces, nephews...oh, the good I could do!
i just watched and listened
I agree welki, but I think niche marketing is always good too.
as a beginner to hardware-type things, id prefer to take classes meant for beginners. but as a non-beginner in many other things, i would feel frustrated having to hear what i already know -- id want to hurry up and move on!
I wasn't allowed to touch the tools. Mr hate was VERY controlling that way
lol trif, there is a football player who made a fortune in the nfl,he bought everyone in his small home town a house lol
he would get so mad if I made a mistake, it allowed for no learning curve at all. Definitely not my style of teaching, thank god
l;
I think that is lovely crossy!
gaet
d'oh
lol .. wrong letter anyway
close welki! Just change up your consonant
it is,it has a cascade effect, they all owned the house or had their mortgage paid off, they had more discretionary income, they bought more locally and the town prospered
habit .. i always try it
indy is chewing on a noisemaker he rooted out from under a couch. i should scold him, but it's too cute - the sparkly blue streamers look nice against his black fur
Trif, you and I would make EXCELLENT lottery winners.
i believe ireland had a similar effect after the colleges waived fees for local students - all the money parents had been saving up for their kids educations went to fixing up their houses, cars, etc. and the celtic tiger roared there, for a bit
i just watched Extreme Makeover: Home Edition last night + was almost in happy tears. the main family had a little boy in a wheelchair with spina bifida. their house was perfectly fine, just unsuitable for someone in a wheelchair. so they got their new house made, but the little boy had a friend in his class whose parents were from kosovo. there were 6 people living in a 2-bedroom apartment, so the little boy wanted the show to GIVE his old house to them -- and they DID! picked it up, and moved it right on down the road.
let's hope we get to find that out, molly! Maybe I could buy a dinner with david bowie!
I saw the end of that eva, but not the beginning. how sweet is that?
It's up to 290 million this week. Let the philanthropic women have their go at it. PLEASE.
I will say, the end of that show confused me, though. apparently the mom and dad run an organization for kids in wheelchairs, right? so who's grand idea was it to put the office downSTAIRS?
trif -- i was welling up!
that show should be sponsored by kleenex. It makes me lose my sh**, every single time.
trif -- from seeing that show before, even though they didnt show it, i feel fairly confident there was an elevator in there somewhere. there usually is, so that no section of the house is off-limits to the person in the wheelchair.
speaking of things that make me lose it - he5 -- nasty ass things that eat my goldfish out of my pond every summer, cruel beasts!
sorry about that trif!!!
LOLOLOLOL
just looking for munchies:)
all apologies to present company, my DEAR friend!
ha ha
Happy new year!!
crossy, do you think I need to bring measurements to the hardware store, so they can figure out how much weather stuff I need?
maybe you should stick to goldfish of the cracker variety. ;)
i would bring measurements
trif, from my experience, bring ALL the info you can. too much is better than not enough.
and thell them exactly where you wish to apply it and the size of the gaps
yes, that is a great idea Eva:) But the one's in the pond smelll so good!
with respect to blue's kin, those fat flying pigs will eat anything, so not even goldfish crackers are safe. and they are RUDE - kick over my plants, make a mess, cause fear and trembling amongst the rabbits.
I remain, as ever, so in love with you crossy....in a completely appropriate way, of course
Wow! I had no idea Trif.
and forgive me, gloria steinem, but there actually are times I miss having a man around. they just have some handy dandy skill sets.
but of course ((trif))
heh, i am usually the one teaching darling hubby how to work the tools. ;)
Wow, I love he5s. Didn't realize there were people who don't.
WELL eva!!!!
I don't mind looking at a pretty he5 by the side of the north river at sunset, or whenever. just wish they would leave my poor fish alone
we are all unique, and we help each according to our gifts:)
same here trif:)
i dont know MUCH, but im still pretty sure i know more than he does. i just dont tell him that. ;)
thank you, mr marx!
((((biting my tongue to avoid saying something possibly a little too naughty to our young bride....))))
Trif, do you have Mr. Handyman in your area?
he still thinks that the reason the pilot light keeps going out in the fireplace (despite maintenance having already "fixed" it!) is because once in a while we have the window cracked -- he thinks the wind is blowing it out. nevermind that it goes out when the window isnt open or that there is a wall between the window + the fireplace.
probably molly. what I don't have is mr. Moneybags
trif, i have the mind of a teenage boy. there is nothing too naughty for my ears...lol
in that case, eva....nope, nope, can't do it. I have to remember, the chog is eternal
of course another was to kill the gaps on entryway doors into you living spaces is to apply nice hard wood flooring throughout;))
and I just checked. a certain member of the clergy is on right now. I am saying NOTHING
clergy??
hang on, crossy - I do have hardwood. how would that help?
my pastor babbles, eva....
too late, the cat's out of the bag, he/she knows you're thinking naughty thoughts *lol*
if you did not have it,then applied it,it would raise the floor level of course lol
its taking me ages today to do the words - even with the list
thinking naughty thoughts is one thing - typing them in the eternal chog is another....besides, now it's very edgar allen poe, isn't it? you are all thinking your own naughties
lol trif, you have been caught, the tought is the same as the deed lol
makes sense to YOU crossy!
thought
no it isn't! I can think of assassinating someone, but that is not the same as doing it!
We need to go back to the barter system. In which a single Dad would fix your weatherstripping and you could make a dinner for him an his kids.
phone....
**it's the preacher** calling Trif Good morning everyone
lol molly,i cook better than my mrs lol
Yes Cross, but most men don't.
Good Morning Mom
acck a preacher??!! crossy hides his tree worship manuals...
morning ((molly))
'morning mom ... funny :)
Morning ((Crossy))
Morning ((Welki))
giving "impure thoughts" a second go-round
((mom))
everyone must be googling
i think i fell asleep in my tea...
na,was just orginizing the kitchen
crossy -- i wish my hubs cooked as well as you. he made dinner the other night -- pasta that, well, lets say it went right through us. and packed me a lunch today -- PBJ sammiches. :) bless his heart.
at least he tries:)
he does. and for that, i love him. :)
true enough, crossy
urrgh - my internet is playing up now - still have 15 to get
Good Lord Eva, what did he do to the pasta?
tonights dinner will be of my making -- cornmeal-dusted, pan-fried ravioli.
he just needs to learn the shortcuts,in 15 minutes i can make fettuchini al simone, penne ala vodka or a nice chicken cordon bleu with a nice salad
molly, i think it was the sauce. we are lazy + mostly use jarred sauce, but he always tries to dress it up. methinks he put a few too many extras in this time around...
jarred sauce??!!..acck! the horror!
::fans crossy:: i know, dear. *hangs head in shame*
lol
Either that or the expiration date on the jar was past. Making your own red sauce is not that hard. However most people use canned things to make it, so it's not really "from scratch".
i do many cream sauces these days(the red sauces burn crossy,s tummy now)
hubby doesnt eat anything that is, and i quote, "white and creamy" the few exceptions: ice cream and whipped cream.
lol
well he has a young stomach for now
i will sometimes sneak stuff he doesnt like into dishes i know he does. i will thicken the red sauce with a little cream or slip some extra veggies into meatloaf...
wait 10 or 20 years when every bups sends battery acid up to dissolve yout tongue
Go Eva. Didn't he say he was allergic to something and then you snuck it into his food to prove he wasn't?
burp
he claims to be allergic to carrots, yet he is more than willing to eat CANNED carrots. i try to explain they all originate from the same place...
heh, probably, molly. i wouldnt normally mess around with allergies, only i know hes not really allergic. he just dislikes things to an extent that if he KNOWS its in there, he will psychosomatically make himself FEEL ill. its rather sad, actually...
rheostat and irrigate .. welki's phantoms of the day
lol eva, when you peel and boil the regular carrots, just add a spoon of sugar or some chicken stock to the water,he will eat them
Why am I thinking he was fed solid food way too young as an infant. It's a Freudian thing.
he misses the boob? lol
im inclined to just save the packaging from certain foods i know he likes, then make it from scratch and leave the package on the counter so he thinks its pre-prepared...heh
he IS rather obsessed with them...lmao
lol good idea eva
Nope Cross. That texture dislike thing can come from introducing solids too early. Freud was right about some things. People who were toilet trained to early generally have "bathroom issues".
lol,we start our life attached to a young firm boob and spend the rest of our lives torying to go back there lol
trying
Uh...only you y-chromos do that.
speak for yourself, crossy
i know molly my son has a thing with the lables on clothing rubbing on his skin
and his cousin is even worse than he is! i swear, all the kid eats is: pepperoni or sausage pizza turkey sandwiches (plain turkey on bread, nothing else) mountain dew hot dogs kid doesnt even eat burgers.
good lord!
Eva, that's hysterical about the food packaging. It's like the commercial where the guy tries to blame the pizza delivery guy for the mess when they really had frozen pizza.
and hes 18 years old, crossy.
hi all. Today was weigh in, I have lost 9.5lbs. yip, yip, yahooo
they have a heart attavk waiting for them at 30
congrats sue!!
wtg sue!! how're you doing it?
when his cousin was staying with us, i kept joking that we should take him out for thai, chinese, sushi, pho...
I have a problem with parents who tolerate that kind of picky eating. There are clever ways to introduce new foods to kids. Um...the cousin HAS to have digestive problems.
i may make a lot of noise about bacon, but in reality i eat it sensibly...fresh breads and buns are my true weakness
yaa for sue!!
what's a fresh bread or bun?
i was a picky eater growing up. my poor parents tried everything, but in the end, if i didnt like it, i just wouldnt eat at all. finally, though, i got bored of the foods i liked, and i started branching out. i still dont go TOO far from my comfort zone, but i will try most things... i was so ecstatic when i finally got hubby to like thai food!
you do not know what bread is sue?? lol
and buns are those round things used for sammiches lol
we make our own with a bread machine - no time for all the bashing and thumping to make completely from scratch
i love rice stir fry dishes
me too Ksazzer. We make pizza dough too
if i had a bead machine,i would be 400 pounds in no time
the only thing i wont eat is aubergines but i am waiting to be educated but havent found any recipes that uses them that i can tolerate
thing would be pumping out 4 loaves a day lol
i received a few bread recipes with my Kitchenaid, so i was thinking of trying some out at home... dont have a bread machine, though...
kazzer -- im not really a fan either. hubby loves them and squash + zucchini -- the whole family. i never took to them, though.
its great - you tip all the stuff in the tin in the machine select the program and let it get on with it. You can do one using flour yeast etc or using a commercial mix - which only takes a couple of hours so is very good if you forgot to buy one and the shops are shut
oh, but this is something i thought crossy would appreciate... there is a new burger joint near our house that supposedly serves... *wait for it* sweet potato tater tots!!
rumor has it you can order them bacon-wrapped.
lol eva, many of our fast food joints now offer sweet potato fries
i want a food processor thats the next thing on my list
but not like i make my sweet tater frittes;)
we can get sweet potato fries, but tots? heavenly!!
wish you were closer, kaz .. i have a cuisinart dc10 i don't use anymore
i do not know these "tots"
same for the kitchenaid .. i just don't cook as much as i used to
::faints::
mccain's tasty taters, crossy
i do my frittes in a hot wok with one tbs of virgin olive oil and cook on high heat till crispy, let sit on paper towell for a min then serve with spiced ketchup and sprinkle with coarse mediterranian(sp) sea salt
http://tinyurl.com/37y39m2
ahh those thing ty welki,i do not bother with them, though i do make a similar home made thing with valencia onion bits in batter
mmmmm..... tots.
i once had SUCH a craving for tots that i went out + bought a bag + had the whole thing for dinner.
Eva, I found a great recipe for sweet potato rolls that I want to try.
lol!
rolls?
Yep, dinner rolls.
interesting. sounds tasty!
I also have a recipe somewhere that calls for you to "put a buttload of tater tots" over the top of it. : P
you must have been hot to tot
lol
Good morning, fair babbling friends.
i believe the Duggar family (from that TV show) has a recipe for Tater Tot Casserole
Hi Judi
howdy judi:)
Yes, I think I saw it on their web site. Of course, since I am not cooking for three dozen people, I don't use their quantities.
who are the duggar family?
also, there is a chili place around here (Molly -- Hard Times, if youre ever interested) where you can get tots covered in your choice of chili, sour cream, onions, cheese + toppings
ruru -- thats the family with like 19 kids and a tv show
19 kids.. what?
google them. :)
"Arrgh" is so a word. We use it here all the time.
gah is too judi.. you use that one a lot too
So true.
<----knows judi
phantom: rigatoni
dont want any clues yet but what does the 10 start with pls?
in
ta
which i?
I haven't been to Hard Times in a while. My son went with his friends recently.
top left i
ta
Hello everybody. Moll, I see I am in today's grid.....cr 5/12... LOL
molly, we used to live walking distance to the one in bethesda and went fairly often. dont go as often now, but they have really tasty wings!
<convinced that there are not 17 c's
Hardy har Soodle. : D
watching the duggars makes me cringe..i mean having your own t.v slot just because you have litters of kids are are not ashamed to use the props..err i mean children to make a buck
I have similar feelings about The Duggars Cross.
still, id rather be a Duggar than a Gosslin.
are they adopted kids?
The Duggars creep me out.
nope. ALL theirs. i do think there are 2 sets of twins in there somewhere...
omg..have they heard of birth control?
They don't believe in it. Religious beliefs, etc.
actually, if you read their website, they used to use it, until they conceived while on the pill and it caused the miscarriage of one of their children. between that + a serious religious background, they stopped using any form o fit.
that's really horrible
so they are going to keep puming out kids while she gets older and all the perils of late in life childbirth fill up the Er?...ugh!
hooray = fireworks for me - off to find my hubby who has bu**ered off in a huff
YAY, KAZZER!!!!
must be off
yaa for kazz!
Cross: Their last girl had lots of issues, she was really premature. Had to live in a bubble for a while. Have you heard about that new show with the identical quads? I think that must be pretty nightmarish.
while i have no kida of my own, i actually have no issue with them. they seem to be raising some really good kids, and they arent on any sort of welfare of government aid. in fact, they are completely debt-free. they may not be the norm, but it seems they are doing something right...
Eva-Ya, but if it weren't for the show, chances are they wouldn't be in as great a spot as they are now.
oh, im sure they have made a pretty penny from the show. but it seemed they were doing ok for themselves even before that.
they pimp their kids
sorry i will just hunt for words for a bit..makes crossy angry...sploosh!
i guess i just dont feel that the Duggars pimp their kids the way the Gosselins do. same concept of show, yet so entirely different.
ga6 anyone?
I just think it's creepy that with the Duggars, the eldest kids are having kids that will be older than their youngest siblings.
yes. i DO find that part creepy. very much so.
The Duggars are like a cult to me, that's why I find them creepy.
Eva-I can see how you feel that way. Kate used her kids. Jon just used the celebrity that came from Kate using the kids.
Oh.....they are pumping them out too?
Ru- Not quite the same way, though who knows in the future?
The Duggar kids, although I'm sure they love all their siblings, probably see the problems in having so many kids and won't be as quick to have their own armies.
someone should neuter the whole family
with the Gosselins, i get the feeling they are showing off, dragging the camera around with them. with the Duggars, i get more of a feeling that they are more or less just living their lives, and the camera happened to show up. (grants, i DO understand they get some perks from the show) i feel like the duggar family is, for the most part, just doing what they would be doing even if the camera wasnt there.
I agree, Molly. The mother is facing serious health if they continue to breed. Also - the health of future children is at stake. I think it's time for daddy to have a vasectomy.
the gosselins I know.. they are both really creepy
Either way, reality shows are so stressful, that it has have some sort of effect on the children. Eventually, if they haven't already (I don't watch either show), the kids will start to resent the fact that every minute of their lives has the potential for being aired to the country.
has to have*
"Little People, Big World" is a good show.
i agree, leigh.
well,i have some real life crap to do and will be beack.the show that really, really bugs me is 'toddlers and tiaras" i would sue them if i could! taking 6 year old girls and dressing them up as hookers to win a prize?? i mean what the hell!!! but i better not get started.will be back...poof!
Mom Duggar has been cranking out a baby a year for 22 years. A woman's body was not built to do that.
Cross- Agreed! When you are spending tens of thousands a year to parade your child around in a fancy dress and ten pounds of makeup, you've got serious issues.
does she still walk>?
Personally, I think it should be illegal for anyone to be in a pageant until they are 18.
having found the hi7,36, my eye fell on HOACTZIN and I wondered how come that one was not included to delight us players...
welp, having started this fun conversation, ive got to run... lunchtime for me!
Ciao Eva
She still walks, Ruru... but you could drive a stroller between her legs. *sorry*
The youngest Duggar just turned a year old, so expect the announcement of number 20 any day now.
Erm... My dad was the eldest of 15! But that was back in the '20's and 30's in 'Holy Catholic Ireland'... (i.e., no TV - lol)
Soodle, the difference is, back then, families needed lots of kids to help work the land.
And, my mother had 10 siblings. I have over 100 first cousins, many of whom I have never met!
And, there was no such thing as birth control - until condoms came along.
Soodle- In HRC Ireland, you were an outcast to have less than 10! ;)
Also - people used to have more children because the infant mortality rate was so much higher. Plus, children died frequently from infection and diseases.
For Catholics especially, the church always teaches you that its your job on this earth to just procreate. Marriage is not for love, its for procreation and making little Catholic babies.
You would have had the parish priest at the door, demanding an explanation!!! (Just don't get me started about the clergy, please..... !)
why don't people boycott their show?
Ru- Because for every person you have that thinks what they're doing is incredibly wrong, you have five more out there who either agree with their non-contraceptive religious ways, or love the family.
Following recent revealations, the catholic church have been remarkably quiet on the whole sex thing. And rightly so!
Soodle- To an extent. Benedict, the ugliest pope known to man, agreed that gay men can use condoms to help stop the spread of AIDS. They not only gave the okay for gay men to have sex, but it also goes back to proving that Catholics are here to make Catholic babies.
that is so terribly wrong and sad.
this picture is in somewhat bad taste, but it still makes me laugh: http://tinyurl.com/2z8qgy and this is from when they only had 14 kids!
Men can't use condoms with women, but they can use them with other men.
well that's because a large percentage of the Catholic church already has sex with their own gender
Oh, please. Let's not get started on the hypocrisy of the Catholic Church.
Leigh... it certainly didn't start with Benedict. Paul V! and the second vatican council made some horrific proclamations. The real scandal is how this country was 'Priest-ridden' (sic) for so long.
er.. the priests I mean
We're not getting into this!
Ruru, I have no problem with consenting adults doing whatever. Its when they start on young kids is when it gets sickening
I totally agree
Soodle- Indeed, it's always been that way, but I was just referring to your comment about being recently quiet and then referencing my earlier point about baby factory Catholicism.
Anywho, I agree with all sides. Yes, Catholics are hypocrites. It's why I'm a picky cafeteria Catholic. Yes, preying on the young is incredibly wrong.
But if we go any further, it's just like debating between Democrats/Republicans/Tea Party/Glenn Beck/Right-Wing/Left-Wing/Liberal/Cons ervative/and all that crap.
It'd get nasty.
I'd have to think the milliions the church is paying out in lawsuits is resulting in changes in the clergy
Ru- It's secretly why almost every week in my mother's church there is a second collection for the Archdiocese.
Politics and religeon.......... dangerous subjects to be discussing. LOL In my local bar, both topics are barred. BTW, Eva, that photo and caption are hysterical!
And barred from most every pub in Ireland.
my trial ended - how many words in this puzzle please?
169
thx
ahh paperwork all done:) crossy loves open office programme;) when i ran my bar Politics and religeon were also verboten.you could talk about sex all you wanted though;))

Well, I can't say I haven't been entertained this afternoon, but I can tell you I've got things to do and people to see, and to do both I need to get my butt out of bed and ready to go.
Eva, I've seen that picture before and I think it's funny. What's not funny is what little clones all those children are.
(((((leigh))))) I am so glad I stopped by before starting my day. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
hey all.
afternoon stid!
Good afternoon all Happy New Year to you all
(((caitlyn too!)))
hey EvaN!
(((stid))) How are you?
*reads chog* seems I have stumbled onto an uncomfortable conversation, so will sit this one out
oh, I am well enough caitlyn, and yourself?
stid, i think that convo has finally ended. started out lighthearted enough, but as such discussions go, it got deeper than intended. whats on the menu for tonights dinner, everyone??
dinner? i havent decided on lunch yet. dinner planning starts around 545p.
leftovers again I think -- I didn't even cook New Year's Day because we had so much in the fridge! LOL
Ok thanks stid
methinks i have been requested to make my cornmeal-dusted, pan-friend ravioli for dinner tonight.
Eva I have made a fish pie fancy some?
Greetings Babble buddies. My last patient has gone and lunch break has begun. Yay.
excellent, scrabs! happy Monday!
Hi Scrabbler how are you?

Hi JBV, how are you doing?
rocs
howdy scwabby:)
howdy jbv
Hi JBV
*sprinting off to PB, hoping for dark chocolate*
hi scrabbler, OK, I think I may need a push today - have been putting off one important phone call - to the lawyer, but it must be done
(((JBV))) Happy New Year
hi everyone
thanks for that one scrabs! LOL
For probate/estate stuff?
Look in the cupboard by the side of the fridge Scrabbler
yes, for that, scrabs - I've been doing a lot on my own, but I will need a lawyer, just can't seem to make that call
*filling pockets with dark chocolate...checking fridge for chocolate mousse*
sorry i already ate it.
*gentle nudge to JBV* would it help if we wait while you do this task? and then you can come back and be proud of your bravery.
never had fish pie, though generally not a huge fish fan. i DO like sushi, and i do like some shellfish -- crabs and shrimp///
Hoya, you ate the mousse?
LOL hoy I thought I had hidden that well
fish pie, done correctly is heaven in a shell
no i found some special dark in there.
maybe that's all I need, stid - thank you - I'll be back soon...
JBV, just get it done so you can move on.
*waits for JBV*
Where do you work, hoya? And which field? I am a pediatrician in a rural area 35 miles south of Buffalo.
what sort of fish goes into fish pie??
crossy will save some fish pie and bass pale ale for jbv....
Dead fish, I hope.
LOL
Eva I asked that yesterday but didn't get an answer.
in a GI office doing gas for his procedures. 'tis the sweet (albeit boring) life.

Oops, nope, horse adjective
I like cobbler and salmon but you can put in any that you like

ok my pt left - i am out of here! off to get oil changed!
I tried to like anesthesiology but was afraid of the terror filled moments, even if infrequent.
Bye hoya, nice to meet you. Welcome to Babble
Bye hoy Im glad you enjoyed the chocs
that's why i do this - i dont like being terrified.
ty see you around.
bye hoya
So, low risk procedures then--smart of you.
molly -- i think its a mystery fish pie conspiracy.
I like this quote from candice olson (HGTV designer) "I take my work seriously; I don't take myself seriously" -- an attitude I would like to adopt.
Eva I replied at 11.44 lol
Phantom = maestro
hi Babblers! more food in the chod
g
good phantom, scrabs.
And one of my favorite quotes is by Oscar Wilde: Life is far too important to be taken seriously.
ugh, can't type
my phantom is "drag"
hey Aloyisius!
Hi Aloy
Hi Aloy
oh, i like cobbler too, but i thought we were talking about fish. lol
hiya stiddy!
ah, that is a nice one, too!
hi guys, now i'm just slightly bewildered - ....
hi Scrabbs.. snow all gone?
yes JBV? ((hugs))
Yeah, when I typed in maestro I was feeling smug that I found a 7 ltr word by myself. How dare that be a phantom!
phone back in a mo
what do you make of a lawyer who, after talking to me for a few minutes about what I've done and what needs to be done, advised me that I can handle the probate process on my own! -
one of my favorites is by Mark Twain: Let us endeavor so to live that when we come to die, even the undertaker will be sorry.
JBV -- id say s/he is lazy and its best you dont hire them!
Perhaps honest then rather than saying come on in and I'll take care of everything for $2500.
that's why I said bewildered - not sure what to think
LOL obviously he recognizes your superior intellect, JBV! still, a meeting with you to be sure you have what you need is in order. A different lawyer (second opinion) might be good.
second opinion, good idea...
hello everybody
shall I wait while you call again?
hey ruby!
Been lurking for a bit. JBV...my friend lost her husband last month, and hired a lawyer for probate. It's well above $2500, according to her attorney. But she didn't want to handle it herself.
Yay me! Fireworks!
YAY Judi!
no, thanks, stid, I have to think about who to call now - we have some lawyer friends, but I don't want a friend handling this - but maybe they can give me a referral
congrats, Judi !!!! ... hi ruby
yay judi
hello aloy
hi jbv
Yay Judi!
{{stidmama}}
hi champ
yes, a referral from a friend sounds reasonable.
hey ruby!
I only found 81 words this AM
I've done a lot already, Champ, my husband was very smart about setting things up so mostly everything just transfers to me anyway, so it should be relatively easy - I did it after my mother died, went to court, filled out the forms, etc. ... it's definitely doable
this sounds very serious!
I know, but it's different when it's your spouse, right? I think that's my friend's point. Different for everyone, I'm sure!
my Granny did something similar, JBV; nearly all her assets were in a trust that is automatically distributed to the heirs. Very little for the executor to do once the process is started.
True, Champ, but even when a lawyer is "in charge" you still have to be involved - phone calls, forms to sign, meetings, etc. - so why pay someone if you can do it yourself? (talking myself into it...)
You need to do what you're comfortable with. So glad things are in order for you!
Hi Judi, Champ and Ruby.
Hi scrabs!
hello scrabbler!
but there was some paperwork -- there always is...
how are you ruby? thawed out yet?
yes, and if I can give a word of advice to anyone out there - check all your accounts and beneficiaries and make sure they're up to date - saves paperwork later
Stupid paperwork...I vote against it!
actually, it's above freezing here. No snow except on the mountains, so it's very pretty. I pretend that spring is starting.....
snow is melting here - it's beautiful today
good advice, JBV. I have been meaning to do that again. *sigh* always something more!
the only clouds today were dispersed jet trails from Geneva and from Lyon
it's going to be above freezing we are told -- no rain in more than a week and there is hoarfrost on everything. This morning it's overcast, which makes everything a lovely pearly grey.
drowning in paperwork, that's why I play babble
makes for a nice break!
morning / afternoon all
BBL peeps. Must feed children...good luck!
oh! past halfway. going to go read a little before my eyes give out again. back at some point... I hope. *hugs gwen on the way out* *poof*

there we go back for the jewellery shoppe.had to get the mrs a bigger chain for her x-mass present http://www.lindaclifford.com/KJWindow. html got her item #4
I have never heard of arugula. Is it a herb?
hi crossy!
well, Good Evening then, Hydra (I *just* showered and dressed for the day; I enjoyed being a lazy butt this AM! :-)
Oh, it's rocket - my fave salad veg!
i went back to bed this am and slept for 2 hours... all those up until 4 or 5 am with the teenagers playing games.. 6:30 am killed me
it is a green vegetable. used in salads a lot, little bit of a spice/kick to it. I love it
hydra, it is a salad green.. kind of a pungent taste, very aromatic
I bet it did, carlee!
hydra, do you play Scramble on FB?
((Nef)) hey all. I read a bit, now listening to an audio of one of the other readings. ((carlee))
Yes, we call it rocket. I grew some last year but caterpillars ate most of it.
wb stid
i had 2 cups of coffee and promptly went back to bed for 2 hours...
Yes peri, I do! Fancy a game?
{{stiddy}} how are you today hun?
hi stid!
howdy aloy:)))
yes pls. but I do not think we are friends on FB
Not right now as I'm cooking chicken.
((stidmama))
Oh dear. Do we know each other's names? Can't remember!
I am Michele Alperin with the same icon, I think
migraine is better, thanks. still not 100% but good enough to study some and go volunteer this afternoon in my friend's classroom.
how are you carlee?
Oh, poor stid. Migraine is a beast.
yes peri...same icon :)
what is your name, Hydra?
I am Lorna Read. We will befriend each other.
stay away, migraine!
ty carlee
ok
(((Stid)))

LOL, Hyrda! What a great tie in with everything in your life!
mmmm. coffee. I am putting off coffee until tomorrow. Will need it to stay awake through the morning lecture.
brb will check, no hair is short and blonde
Very good, Gwen! On Facebook I am wearing a purple hat.
as is stiddy...
carlee, I think we are friends arleady, no?
Not you then, peri. Perhaps you can find me.
yes..that what just told hydra... if she friends me..she will find you :)
If I suddenly vanish, it's because I have to put spuds in the oven and start the vegetables.
just has to go through my friend list and you are there
stid.. my daughter suffers from migraines.. she cut out coffee and said it helps.. has your doc suggested that ? I know, terrible sacrifice..
(i collect author aptronyms, and other weird stuff)
and choclits am afraid bad for migraines
Our original surname was Redhead but we all had red hair so my granddad changed it to Read. Carlee, I have friended thee!
I have cut out almost everything, aloyisius. mine are generally triggered by my rapidly failing eyesight. wrinkled corneas fracture light strangely. when I don't use my eyes, the migraines all but disappear. choclit and coffee have not seemed to be either a trigger nor a deterrent
page of author aptronyns here : http://www.gwenfoss.com/info07.asp
okie kokie hydra :)
my elegants vision is but 20/400 and is the main cause of her migraines
I've bookmarked that, Gwen!
top row finished -- and hope you like it, hydra!
aww, ok.. is the cornea condition hereditary? sorry you are bothered with that.. (( ))
yep. eyeballs are tricky things. mine seems to be a genetic problem. though my vision is technically 20/20 I now require LARGE print to read most of the time.
go gwen go!
i feel so lazy today... i need to get off my hoohoo and do SOMETHING...but nothing is appealing... am in one of those..'i'm so bored" moods that teenagers drive us nuts with....i have a million things i SHOULD be doing...but..."thats boring"
post holiday blahs, carlee.. yup
LOL carlee! you want to read and digest some boring texts for me? I am stalling working on my master's project...
hydra, I am in Babblers Wordwide on FB. If you look for that group I am the first name. I did not see you in BAbblers Wordlwide. and carlee we are already friends :)
Right at this fascinating moment, I have to attend to dinner. Back later. I have 30 words left. Stid, you really do have my sympathy. I used to get terrible ones, dreadfully sick, but they suddenly stopped and turned out to be hormone related. I get a very rare one now, maybe every year or so.
i need to make the "example" for our craft tonight... at guides..i need to wrap my secret santa pressie...
's actually as i have the one for pathfinders tomorrow too
i need to de christmas my living room...<sigh>

LOL people accuse me of being grumpy when I am just trying to see *sigh* (no joke, actually have had the people who are evaluating me grade me down because of it -- stupid people)
dumbos, stid
yep. I have reached the point that if they do it again I will complain to the disabilities office at the school.
used to hate it when a certain principal couldn't understand the lesson.. (cell metabolism) .. and criticized bc of it.. the kids were fine.. he was a former band leader and knew nada about cells
http://crafts.kaboose.com/jingle-bell- snowman.html
stid, maybe get some of those silly coke bottle gag glasses and whip those out and wear them when people call you grumpy. It might shake them up!@
*grin* that is funny, nef!
oh gee aloyisius, what a shame
I think it might embarrass them if you did it. I hate people who say stupid things like that
saving grace.. the kids did fine on their ap test
ah, the joys of being smarter than your own boss, or teacher, or whatever. OY
good for them! (and you)
.. sigh of relief!
.. and done.. any clues needed before I go make grapefruit juice?
well, down to 60 and need to take a real eyeball break. (((hugs all))) thanks for letting me whinge on (again). I am nervous about this coming quarter...

brilliant! thnx so much!
TY for in10 and that got me co8!!
Am I alone with the lurkers? *waving to lurkers*
::waves::
whew. not lurking, cleaning kitchen. break time :)
Hi kids!
I was about to talk to myself.
always in good company then :)
i usually go streaking through the chog when its just me...
Yes, I've noticed, Eva. Hilarious.
*nudges scrab* she's lost a bit of weight
it does tend to get the attention of the lurkers, at least...heh
Don't forget sunscreen.
hi all
hey, jm
ill be sure to apply it to all of the *erm* necessary areas. ;)
i usually spread the chog with crumpled paper so i can hear people walk in
flippin' allergies. hate 'em.
NOT lurking! Just arrived. Happy New Year
*hoot hoot* hi, owl
Eva - I found a recipe for Pho for you but it sounds like it would be easier to buy a gallon and freeze it!
hi all -- happy new year :)
hi, nan
hi nan
Does anyone besides me think some of these words are preposterous?
like the ha8 and the he 8
<-- is/was totally not lurking! *continues not to lurk*
hoot -- i finally got to go to a local pho place with some friends this weekend and indulged. just what i needed!
Yes Hoot, preposterous.
well the link is in my profile if you want to know whats supposed to be in it. Love Thai myself but haven't tried it here in Memphis. Watching the Chinese places use peas instead of snow peas makes me very, very sceptical!
ty Molly
the Chinese restaurants up here use green peas, too. i'm originally from nyc ... i guess you use what you have
ex-NYer myself.
If they couldn't get them I'd understand, but they can! I've got some in my fridge right now
and there is at least 3 international markets too
Probably because it's more expensive ;o)
get this .. here, if you order an egg roll, it comes rolled with dough and fried again!
actually cheaper
omg - want some recipes?
i am not lurking just keep getting called away to work :-(
even in the high end restaurants here, dfm. no fresh specials, either. mostly fried, refried stuff (ugh)
hate how much fried stuff (and salt/MSG) there is in Western Chinese restaurants :o(
i'm lucky to have known a gal whose dad owned a chinese restaurant. she's a great cook and i've been given lots of their recipes
i was SO super craving thai garden rolls the other night.
<-- makes a wicked hot and sour soup
ooh, welki, im headed to your house for some of that!
Well in NY they have mostly stopped using the MSG. And good restaurants are easy on the oil & salt
oh! and if i go into a resaurant and ask for chow fun, everyone laughs .. they say i have to make my own, that they don't have fresh rice noodles (so i do)
i make hot and sour soup all winter long
you just reminded me ... I have all the ingredients, just haven't had the time
would you like the recipe, eva? it makes a lot
evan you can get some egg/summer rolls skins at Rodmans and sometimes things at Trader Joes
i think we should just meet up at jm's :)
eh. darling hubby doesnt like soup in general, so i definitely dont need to know how to make a large batch.
hi all again
i LOVE some hot + sour soup on a cold day when im feeling rather snuffly
If you can get hold of a copy of The Thousand Recipe Chinese Cookbook by Gloria Bley Miller, you will find recipes for just about everthing Chinese. Then modify ti suit yourself. My cooking teacher used it for class recipes already to match american supplies. Now you can get most of the ingredients in supermarkets or international stores
oo i have that one it is great!
you know welki i have invited you any number of times!
wow - that's a first!
what's a first? *looks around*
Eva - tell him it's a stew
someone having a cookbook I have
actually this whole conversation. Most people just go to restaurants
Okay, I just looked up a recipe for hot and sour soup and it calls for fungus. That is just not right.
grandbaby is up from her nap, so bye for now :)
i love fungus :p
it's just another type mushroom!
fungi?
I bought centuries ago and love it. Wonder if it is still on my shelf. I tend to make chinese food from thin air now
bad translation of mushrooms molly
yeah - mushrooms ARE fungi you know
yum .. wood ear :)
you can get great dried cloud ears at safeway and trader joes and sometimes at rodmans
me too. Once you have the basic metheod you can wing it
afraid darling hubby probably wouldnt eat stew either. chili, maybe, but thats pushing it.
It is basically a mushroom stew
ooh wood ear :oD
i know what you mean, eva .. i have one of those, too
but there is this TERRIFIC restaurant near my office --banana leaves--so i get tempted regularly
my kids are the same evaN...its annoying..i love soup..only soup my daughter does is cream of cheddar and broccoli
well start out with a stir fry evan
<-- puts tiger lily buds in her hot and sour soup, too
There isn't one restaurant around here - of any kind - that tempts me
another dish that doesn't need a recipe
<-- sadly can't handle the "hot" part of hot-and-sour soup :o(
oh i love tiger lily buds but seldom see them
yes
i put tiger lily buds in salad
maybe when you are older dfm
oriental or international market is where I get mine
my hubby couldn't stand hot until being with me for 3 years
oh, he would definitely do stir-fry. actually, we havent done that in a while... thats for the mental note!
rodmans doesn't have them and i ha** trader joes
*note to self* if dfm is coming for dinner, leave out hot sesame oil
mine is just starting to use little drops of frank's louisiana
mmmm hot sesame oil *note to self: find some next time at store*
now u all making me hungry...
(and yes, you have invited me to your home many times .. careful what you wish for :)
i did stir fry in kenya when i couldn't stand another day of white rice and nothing
we LOVE hot stuff in our house. unfortunately, our bellies dont like it as much as we do...
can't find hot sesame oil up here either
when *don't* we, carlee?
i make my buffalo wings using 1/2 bottle of franks/ batch ( the big 750mL bottle)
me too - but hot is relative. I'm not partial to it but use enough to just know it's there
then gradually make the stir fry soupier
welki - we may have to send you a care package
hot sesame oil I can get easily i just ran out and forgot to get more
i have eaten a few things that were to spicy for me
i suppose i could make my own
there is a chili restaurant in Austin that has a chili that actually gave me heartburn for the first time in my life
i love jerk chicken (scotch bonnets!)
Guten Tag babblers. I need only 2 more words. One of them is the in10. I need some guidance please.
in+ co8
someone suffering a high fever, inge, babbling and mumbling, would be in10
in10= talking so rambling that you cannot be understood
hi inge
hahahaha .. babbling!
I used to go to a Thai restaurant and one day they got my order mixed up with a fire freaks. You could not taste the food it was so hot! Whats the point then?
oooh...back just in time...thanks jm!
Babbling and mumbling, welki? I do that a lot!
danke, danke
ah but if you get used to the fire you can taste the food
my husband says i should just bypass the hot stuff and hit my tongue with a hammer
bitte (i think)
i think he just wants me to hit my tongue with a hammer.
hi champ and yw
lol welki
:)
i love getting drunken noodles, but sometimes they made it to hot all i taste is tears and snot... lmao
Not my idea of fun
hello! back to pick at it some more...
<-- doesn't get the point of killing one's taste buds with capsaicin
Morning everyone. You paint such a pretty picture Eva
morning lynxxx hows trix
ugly, yet accurate. :)
i love drunken noodles to there is a great thai restaurant near my office too
hi lyn! :o)
Fireworks here. Thanks.
Trixie is very well thanks Carlee
it is soooo hard to keep on a budget in this neighborhood
whoo hoo inge!
If you tell them to tone it down they should.
Congrats Inge!
any stats for N@(1,1)? for nbt and fireworks?
*~*~*~POMPOM TOSS~*~*~* for inge woot woot
hi lynxxx
yay inge!
I can't taste the food for the heat either Hoot. A little hot is okay but fire breathing? No thanks.
have never heard of drunken noodles (and can't find a thai restaurant that makes lard nah (or na, whatever)
ne** lights or ne5.10 bit like compter ne***
it's elemental, dmf
thai is one type of i just have not acquired a taste for...
thanks lyn, welki :o) yay, nbt. yay, fireworks!
whooo hoo dfm
yay df!!!
Hooray for dfm!
*~*~*POMPOM TOSS*~*~*for dfm
bbl - washer & dryer just went off!
yay dfm
nbt
turkey..mashed potatoes....stuffing..gravy and LOTs of cranberry sauce with grandmarnier in it
on a diet then Carlee?
christmas dinner leftovers... we did dinner new years day
here, left over ribs, rice with vegies
I am vey glad that all our leftovers are gone now and can get back to normal lighter food (plus we are now into hotter days and who needs all that heavy food)
Hotter days?
i've always wanted some le creuset pots, but could never justify the expense (although i really do believe they're worth the price). i just found a half-price enameled cast iron KitchenAid pot for $45 .. and feel like i've gotten the bargain of the century!
its summer in lynxxx`s neck of the woods kap
Australia Kap, other side of the world.
I know. It just sounds so funny. January heat.
my mum has one of their BIG roasting pots...amazing...
Good investment Welki - they do last 20-30 years
i bought a set for my mother years ago, she only uses one pot :(
i had beautiful black cast iron skillets and griddle ... they got left behind during my last move. so seasoned, you didn't need to grease the pan to fry an egg or turn a pancake
how sad welki
nbt finally... .need a 7 for nbs
it is on a couple of levels, jm, but that's for when we're cryin'in our beers :)
i got a teflon wok at the dump the last time i went to dump some stuff--complete with lid
hi Cos
i loved niles crane's guide to seasoning pans: "saucepans in summer, crepe pans in fall; when winter's upon us, there's food for us all"
hi all
Cos, ma7...temples that are built by ma5/12s are said to be ma&/36
Cos - my father-n-law belonged to a ma****** lodge
hi, hurshy
h'lo
ok that helped tyvm
ok..i am losing patience here..my nieghbours are gettign 3 trees taken down ( ash trees..emerald ash borers killed them ) and i have been listening to chainsaws and chippers for 3 days now...
HNY Hursh
nbs! yay
2nd co7 ?
ash is great firewood, burns hot like the dickens
what did he eat in the spring
i was a rainbow girl myself
not allowed to move it tho cus of the emerald ash borers... cant take to camp sites etc...
a pirate ship, hurshy
you can burn it in your fireplace you just can't move it more that a mile or something
if i had a fireplace....which i dont...very few houses up here do anymore...higher insurance rates
i didn't know that was a pirate ship, but somehow that helped me get it anyway. thanks welki!
TY Welki
are wood stoves also associated with higher insurance rates, or just fireplaces?
i have a loverly gas fireplace
economic mercenary carriers for the french :)
me too, jm ... didn't think i'd like it, but i do
if it involves fire....its higher...almost dble in ont
i sat in front of one at a ho**'s house when i was on a speaking tour and fell in love. so I put one in my house
my only regret was that i didn't get one with an adjustable dial
i love them too..my next house will have one..no idea what else i want...but i KNOW i want a fireplaceé stove..soomething
oh i stayed at a b&b with a gas fireplace in my room once, it smelled to high heaven
really? mine doesn't smell
if you use it for heat, the adjustable dial is helpful, but if you use it mostly for beauty, you'd end up turning the dial up anyway to get decent flame
my mums is on a thermostat....it comes on if is cool
then you will just have to come in the summer--but be warned i have no AC
smelled? like propane? hope you hightailed it out of there fast
i don't know if it was defective or if my nose is particularly sensitive or what.
i would like to have it on at a lower level
you can probably have one put in, jm ... do you turn it on with a switch on the wall?
no i just checked into it and i can't do it with this style
it uses a remote! lol
just asked mr welki ... he says there should already be an adjustment on the gas valve (if you only want to turn it down and leave it down for a good while)
oh that;s funny ... clap on, clap off!
a regulator ... would hve been used when installing the fireplace
there should be a door in your fireplace that give you access to the gas valve/piping/electrical .. that's where you can regulate the amount of gas coming thru
he's right I can do that but i have to reach into the stove area which requires being on my hands and knees!
get the boy to do it :)
he doesn't live with me anymore
farmboy, fetch me that pitcher!
no i need to adjust it down some permenantly
as you wish
(im reading the book now)
*rrrrring, rrrrrrring* hello, my boy? i need your help for a few minutes. there's some hot and sour soup in it for you
lol
If it is permanent you could get the installers to come back?
UGH....buzz saws.....so freaking annoying...
pssst .. if it bothered her that much, it'd already be done, carlee *lolol*
his girl friend the Republican is highly allergic to cats so he avoids coming over and getting car hairs on hisself
i mean, lynxxx
ryan was allgeric to cats but after living with one for 3 months he got over the allergy it went away
no lynxx that is what i just tried. i will have to find a setting that is the right compromise and leave it there
because his shower doesn't work and the cat dander will stay on him forever? wow, i wonder how he got the cat stuff off him when he took your car up north! (kids.)
sad - do you keep a pair of overalls on the front verandah for him to change into?
well lets just say, cosdem that my son doesn't want his girl friend to suffer *ahem*
well the cat doesn't drive
see thats why i m gay :) lol
hehehehe
do you want her to suffer? ;)
but you sit in the car, you have dander on your clothes ... probably, if you're like me, you might even have one or two cat hairs stuck to the seat of your pants :)
tell her to take a contac c and suck it up....sheesh
to be fair when his gf is out of town he comes over and spends hours petting the cat
if anyone doesnt wanna make sacrifices for an adorble cat then yes let them suffer :)
i didn't say that hursh! lol
my usband was very allergic to cats in his 20s but it seemed to pass as well
my husband was allergic but i had had the cat before him so he sucked it up and move in with me and my cat
he did seem to get over it
i was reading online you can become immune to cat allergies after being around them for a while
unless it is a deadly allergy... suck it up;;;
but it is not for me to say she should suck it up
i'm horribly allergic to most animals, takes me about 6 months to calm down. then, i only have to be careful about petting them and then rubbing my eyes
oooo give me that url cosd!
interesting Cos
ok i will look for it today and send it to you
she does appear to be really allergic and not just sensitive
brb
case in point: ryan was so allergic to cats. he could not breath and would get massive asthma attacks. he still wanted a cat. 3 months later we now have 4 and he breaths just fine
wow
egads. he has medicine nearby if he suffers an attack, right?
yes definitely
but its been 4 years since his last cat allergy attack
i think alot has to do with the food you feed a cat...i get really high grade no meat by product stuff for my cats...and even tho i know people with cat allergies...they are not allergic to mine...if i cheap out ( or my reg store is closed ) and i get low grade food..my cats' fur feels filthy in about 2-3 days
dander is after all ....dry saliva residue on the fur...
laundry time .. bbl
oooh good point!
uh i don't spit in my hair
and everyone comments on how nice my cats fur is
cosd do you have a url?
how can argh not be a word? not enough Rs? arrrgh!
http://www.wisegeek.com/why-can-people -grow-out-of-a-cat-allergy.htm
ty cosd
try two
maybe an h too
nope two Rs didn't help

ugh..i dont want to go to guides tonight... one leader is pulling a total BEEYACH on me... and i am so sick of it...i feel like i need to walk on eggshells with her...when am volunteering
ooppssssss
Silly person! ask her if there is a problem and would she prefer for you not to come - perhaps that will clear the air
good advice lynxxx
perhaps...i may
*opens the pb door for jmb*
thought i might slide by... darn
not likely no jmb
nope
morning jmb
and extra time for da**
lol
<snort>
hi all... end of my workday here... ad thanks for the clue jmc
lol
i wish it was the end of mine i am sitting waiting for phones calls
anyway...this woman is a total PITA and I get to go camping with her not once..but twice this spring with 20 girls..how much fun is that?
lynxxx... i can not imagine Tuesday morning yet
It is quite lovely jmb - clear blue skies, no rain, expecting 26 today
i woke up at 5 am on sunday with idea for talk i was giving that day and the evening I got squashed with a shelf falling in my office and i was up until 2 fixing and putting back
*YAWN*
personally I am hoping that i can coerce another guider who is a friend of mine to come too... and we can just do our thing..and she can follow what we do...and be all PO'd with us...:)
i wonder it there is coffee in the office
*wanders off in a haze*
dare i ask what a guider is?
girl guides
hey
hi Mc
like troop leader jmb
he soap, you clean or something?
like girl scouts here in US
ellie stfu or gtfo JEEZ GIRL
i sense some hostility
lots of it you have no idea
our lives, am i right?
yes... i have a troop of 25 girl guides ( juniors there)...and another troop of 16 of pathfinders ( age group older then juniors)
red alert..
nice... can you take the cranky one out in the woods & leave her there?
cute jmb
love to...thankfully after this year she is done...her daughter will come up to me in pathfinders but the woman i work with and i work amazing together...and we DO NOT mess with the chemistry we have... so she will not be welcome as a leader nor does she have interest in ontinuing
good to hear carleekat
huh?
jmc find coffee?
huh what jmc?
think she is still in a daze -probably didn't
no coffee but made black tea
huh i didn't understand the grey headed conversation and huh i didn't follow who you have good chemistry but is not continuing
but then as lynxx points out--no coffee
so nm
83 left bbl
oh..i have one leader who is a major BEEYach... and enjoys getting her nose out of joint whenever i suggest something..especiaslly when it works nicely
bye jmb
and i get to go camping with her this spring...2ce....
later jmb
but for ratio we will need a 3rd leader
hoping i can talk another leader into coming
i got that far but then there was something about someone with good chemistry who wasn't going to continue and i gots lots
*lost
the first co6?
re 6/27 plz
never mind
re & 1 of 5
oh..ok...well..she is with girl guides ( juniors).. her daughter moving up next year...but the leader i work with htere... she and i work fab together... and we are not messing with a good system by introducing new leaders in to much up what we have working...so...this mom?leader 9 she a leader who concerned only about hwat her daughter gets out of this..as opposed to a leader who is not "mom" at a meeting) and will not be welcomed into our unit ( the mom..not the kid..i love the kid
i have 2 units / troops... her daughter in the younger one now...with her mum....and her mum not welcome at the older one where the daughter will be next year
tyvm lynxxx
ok i c
uh oh another fire across the street
make her think everything is her idea and she will be fine lol
Hi everyone
hi SeaSpray
hi sea
fire across the street???
she is just a beeyach....and soon to be out of my life... i rather not...
there are times when i will play nice with the other kids..but when it is to the detriment of the girls...i will not
Hello jmcnrick: I note your earlier tale of shelf falling down. I remember the same happening to my study shelf: after the thunderous rumbling had died away, flapping open upon the top of the heap of books were J E Gordon's "Structures: or why things don't fall down" and "The new science of strong materials: why you don't fall through the floor" !
2 books you obviously hadn't read Scouser!
Hi lynxxx - yes I had: this was the perils of breeze-block walls.
Anyone want clues?
cute story scouser
i knew why mine fell -- it was balance on 3 instead of 4 pins
ta jmcnrick
aha - 25% cut in support, eh?

Way to go Cos!!

anyone need clues b4 i go?
*kickin' back and relaxing in the quiet chog*
hi welk
hey kje .. chores are all done, tired of finding busy work, finished with the grid .. so hanging out :)
sweet - I am eatig ad hanging out... 70 to go
i have supper in the oven, slow-cooking some left-over ribs
mmmmm, sounds good
spaghetti with olive oil, garlic, anchovy, parsley and red pepper flakes here
they are .. has anyone ever had a bad rib?
ohhhh, that sounds good, too! i've been preparing some recipes for the kids and found a "real" caesar salad recipe that uses anchovies
it uses a "real" raw egg, too ... tells you how old the recipe is
yes, the original caesar has achovies
and raw egg
developed in mexico
qu 8?
it's delicious, but not sure about the egg these days
it will be fine
buy organic
don't have yet bichon
qu+ a hestitation sound + the movies
hello all
hey, owl
and bichon
ty
hi to
organic is no proof against salmonella
but would you eat the salad anyway, jm?
ty welki
true - but decreases likelihood of cross coatmiation... less likely
maybe but a friend of mine who runs a dinner made his own mayo with organic eggs and sent 6 clients to the hospital
whoa-boy ... that's rough
but i have eaten many insects and things intentionally because i don't worry too much
I make aioli all the time ad have never had a problem
so it is up to you whether you want the risk
he went to the hospital and apologized and paid their bills, but he is never making fresh mayo again
the easy out, is to by the pasteurized eggs or pasteurized egg whites in cartons - then there is no worry
when something calls for raw egg i use eggbeaters as they have been pasturized
snap
well there ya go ... will add this note to the recipe for the kids
but i personally never had a bad rib but then they only served me back bones of cabrita in kenya--bet if they had served ribs i would not have liked it
i gets paid today i is soooo excited
$$$ ka-ching $$$
off i go to get the rice and vegies ready ... later, friends
bye welk.
i got paid today - pisses me off... U of T holds the money if payday is on a holiday or any weekend day.... Hopkins paid you the day before ad would never have held it
seems they should have to pay me interest for holding it for 3 days
more bank interest in their account then i guess
yep
swines
gee and i was unhapy that me creit ard had its due date on sunday.
true, TO... when payig bills, we do not get to hold it for three days...
so i never got the full grace period. just so happend that date kept falling on the weekend
any clue for the qu8?
qu+ a hestitation sound + the movies

I have no clue about the Bucholz thing. Think of the opposite of best only make it an ho word.
OK got the ho5,12
German actor, best remembered by Americans for his part in The Magnificent Seven.
i believe there are 11 HOs
hi to begin employment is to hi** + os****

ha!
hmm, shall i go make some cornbread?
Do you want some?
TO! I made cornbread yesterday. Go for it.
Mmmm cornbread with honey drizzled on it
inhave marie calendar's mix
yes , i crave baked goods
I prefer Jiffy mix
i like jiffy. i liked all of the jiffy mixes esp the frosting
Cornbread and honey is the best. I made mine to go with the leftover black-eyed peas from New years. I make mine from scratch. And I add maple syrup. My Mom's secret ingredient.
I like the Jiffy mix too. There was another kind, Martha White...and the Martha White was not as sweet and did not stick together.
Hi, just been working on the grid today. Nice to see my friends chatting and about to make cornbread. I made apple fritters for the boys' teatime. We now need dinner. Going to rustle up some grub.
*Running to Gran Mere's for leftover fritters*
granmere is taunting us again
Putting on tea water for MollyL. We should have a babble fest when the land unfreezes, don't you think? Let me know what you want to eat--I'll enjoy having good friends around the table.
she sure is. Yummers.
FINISHED!! VERY EXCELLENT!!!
I think cornbread with TO is a great idea and the honey over the buttered bread is best there is.
yay I finished the HOs!
my cousin in vancouver invited me again
good job Godtha!!!!!!
yes, honey is the way to go. on biscuits, also
yay god!
No mo HOs?
I am leaving 36 words including one ho and lots of he words oh well. You think about the NW TO it is not far from Vancouver to the center of my universe.
Yay godthaab!
Thanks.
Good night now.

Oh my God. I'm just imagining a Babble Fest around Gran Mere's table. We dream of such things.

i don't know, jmc
ooh, qu8... that gives me hope
thanks
i figure he must be sleeping in his hyperbaric chamber
Funny HO story. A friend's kid is in elementary school. His class was studying the period of American history dealing with the Conestoga wagons moving west. They did a billboard with the phrase WESTWARD HO! on it. Parents complained.
and TO, if you use the def. of ma5 as one who lays bricks, then the adj form is not a proper noun
he looks at himself in a mirror
im sorry i was answering nirkii
they thought it was about hookers?
MOlly! that's hysterical
what about the 7 dwarves.. hi ho hi ho??
hi ru
hi jm, lil, and nrkii

hi ru
*looks up name a speech therapist for lil*
ma6,30?
It always amazes me when people have no clue about the derivation of words. And the bastardization of words. Kids today crack me up saying they are sigh-ced about things. It's psyched and it always has been.
probably can't sing that one anymore
ma6 30 = like a french costume ball
what the french wear on halloween monkey
oh thank u!
JMC, Lil is the great granddaughter of Elmer Fudd. Didn't you know?

ma + the brits eat clotted cream on their ****es
Enable...some foreign words we allow...some we do not...YOU FIGURE IT OUT.
hi doren
I found the ha8, but no luck on qu8 or he8
i heard chuck jones the animator and director of most of the cartoons
ty and hi doren
did you ever look at the label to see the producer?
i am falling asleep here.. someone please wake me up
DORENS!
I have pulled up my chair to the fireplace JMC. Tell the story.
DOWENS!
frederick wildman?
doren... dore.... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE up
tha would be an importer, though, yes?
he's the importer.. who was the producer?
talking about the wine did it... will go look at the pretty label
he said there was a producer who lisped and that chuck jones and mel blanc decided to make a cartoon making fun of him just for jollies
happy new year to those who were not here when I signed in earlier :)
domaine armand rousseau pere & fils
ty nan and to you too
they were rolling it and laughing until the producer came in and then they froze
and to you cybernan
oh jesus.. no wonder
And from there, history was made. One of my favorite twisted tunes is Ozzy Fudd singing "Kiwll Da Wabbit!"
liquid gold!
hi 7, please?
Hey Nanners, happy new year.
after the cartoon was over the house light went up and they turned to him to face the music and he said it (in elmer fudds voice which was his own) was the funniest thing i ever saw how did you come up with that silly voice?
learned all my classical/opera music from Chuck
so what does this mean ru?
That siwwy voice. Great story JMC.
My favorite elmer fudd is RObin WIlliam's impersonation singing the Pointer SIsters song. Fire
FIIIII WAH
me too, wuwu!
Oh yeah Ruru. That Robin Williams thing is very funny.
thought it was bruce springsteen's fire
hi + town in Wisconsin that was one of the teams in A League of Their Own (how's that for obscure) - minus the a
Armand Rousseau is a very very very great producer was it a village wine or was it a premier cru?
Pointer sisters did it first

it was chuck jones story his interview was the funniest interview i ever heard
lil monkey, did you just do fireworks like the impressive clergyman in the Princess Bride?
very obscure nrkii -- have no idea what you are talking about
Nelly, that was obscure, but I would have gotten it had I not had the word.
what, nrkii?
oh no, i was singing fire like Elmer fudd
so that really was the best bottle of wine i ever had?
No, Lil was singing "Fire" like Elmer Fudd.
oh I can just imagine doren.. lucky you
Fiiiiiiii WAH

lol molly, i know for a fact that i know all of the script. in high school, i held up a tape recorder to the tv, and recorded the whole show. i would recite the movie to myself at night when i couldn't fall asleep. ok, perhaps that's too much sharing of how much of a nerd i was/am.

ruru, it's not a chick flick
NOT a chick flick.
ruru, it's not a chick flick
and you spoil her still, ruru. good man
is that the movie where the kid is in bed and his grandpa is telling the story?
even though the title sounds like one
Feather, if you had to get fixated on a movie, that is the one to get fixated on. My kids were at that "watch it every other night" stage when it got popular, so it was a regular in our house.
it is a chick flick simultaneously it is a giy film
*guy
lil monkey, yes, but that's just to set up the story
ruru, it has everything a movie needs: action! adventure! saccharine love scenes! evil prince! doddering old monarchs! giants! intrigue! scandal! magic! swamps! ROUSes!!!
OK i've seen it
the main movie is mostly just an adventure comedy
accent on the comedy
with a little romance

Grandson: A book? Grandfather: That's right, when I was your age, television was called books, and this is a special book. It was the book my father used to read to me when I was sick, and I used to read it to your father...and today, I'm going read it to you. Grandson: Does it got any sports in it? Grandfather: Are you kidding? Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, Giants, Monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles... Grandson: It doesn't sound too bad. I'll try and stay awake. Grandfather: Oh, well, thank you very much. That's very nice of you. Your vote of confidence is overwhelming.
i cheated on that one
it really is hysterical.. ruru if you haven't seen it, try it

Do any of you folks who have been around here longer than I have know about this "anonymous donor" thing?
baby has gone down for the night, so time for me to get supper ready for the rest of us -- back when I can
that's so great, nef!! Wow! it seems people are inspired to help lately.
bye cyber
molly, I would love to know as well. I've benefited from it...
different people do it at different times molly
dont know anything about it molls..sorry
mostly it is people paying forward
So if you are a member here, how do you find out about it? I've been a member for a while, and never seen anything about it.
back again...
there is nothing to see molly
one thing I've noticed about anonymous donors is that they are very nice and don't want others to know who they are. But I've discovered a way to figure out who they *might* be
1 min left
dr g sometimes sends an email out to people, molly -- about once a year
Then how do people know how to become anonymous donors?
people see individuals who are clearly enjoying the game and because they are young or broke some send dr god and email and offers to pay for a pro membership for someone
Evening all. May I please have a clue for in5-10 the 2nd? Thanks
hey peach!
because it is a topic of conversation from time to time
contact dr.g and ask him how to do it

thanks jmc, I spent about two hours today trying to sort it out. I'll finish up with another call to my bank tomorrow. But they're good, that shouldn't take so long.
anyone know the name of the movie with the blue headed guy played i think by will ferrel?
yes! I wish I had checked up on mine more... I just assumed my mommy would do it for me, like a child. Since she is listed on my account as well and I was still in school at the time.
will ferrell as a blue-headed guy.... nope can't say i do
well if you learned the lesson it was not too big a price
maybe not will ferrell but a blue fish for a head maybe?

Gift. Sorry Fail at spelling today
ah yes! That was such a fantastic surprise.... :)

May I please have a clue for co7-32 the 2nd? Thanks

co 7/32 sounds like you have ha** on your head that is very thick and textured.
Ballet we do gift babble prodom to people :D
so i heard last night, herin. I was delighted! I hadn't even realized the stats appearing randomly was me being pro. But I'm very happy.
I haven't been here much lately I have a new computer game to entertain me.
oh-oh herin. what's your new game?
ooh, what game?
Fall Out New Vegas. It was a gift from himself at Christmas and he bought me Iron Sudoku Pro
and a couple of find them style games as they were on special
wild and ballet....my mind is somewhere sitting in neutral.....but the clues are great....still looking.
(BTW, herin, I like your trees icon)
oh Boy wants that game!
keep trying, gapeach. Or move on to a different word and come back later. That always helps me. :)
Nef the tree is from Vista pics. Ballet do it and you may not see him for weeks
Thanks, m'dear.
ga, not fine but co** + what you breathe
(or here is a simpler clue: co + his and he** + what you breathe.)
Thanks so much, balletslippers.
haha, that's why we sit on the couch together. I work (work from home) or play babble or mess around on facebook. He plays countless video games. Currently it's "Persona".
that was a better clue, nef. You said it much simpler. :)
Steam had Mass Effect one and two on sale. He has been driving me spare with that one
OMG, thanks so much, Nef.
steam?
Steam is an online store for games
it's also in the grid - PB for you two
oh i hadn't heard of it. i'll check it out sometime.
It also lands you in the PB ..
http://store.steampowered.com/ Here. It is really good and has awesome deals. Beats the store prices too.
haha both of us to the PB! *skips joyously*
Yah
Didn't have that word
me neither
ooh it looks like something Boy would like. And I like good prices... games can get so expensive.
Ballet there was a special there the other week and all our friends bought the same game so they can play together if they like (head desk)
i've currently been tasked with "learning how to play games" by playing Little Big Planet. I don't think it will work. I've never been good at video games.
That is on Playstation 3 right?
yes i think
I'm bailing. 33 left, but no more energy. Nite all!
night gwen!! you can conquer the new grid tomorrow!
Night Gwen.
So yes between that and this and not really feeling chatty I have been absent
understandable. I usually don't feel chatty. It's a lot for my brain to handle switching from the grid to lickety to chat to the Boy... hehe :P
May I please have a clue for in5-12? Thanks
I don't have it sorry
in 5/12: in + sounds like when you get the water off your hands using a towel.

I'm down to 1 re5-10 the 1st and ar5-10 the 2nd.....please.....thanks

ar 5/10 is when someone lights a house on fire.

re 5/10: re + What a ***compoop! What a maroon! (Elmer Fudd)
herin, I'm in 1/84 when I get too tired (for others it's when they are drunk)

Thanks so very much, ballet.....I'll rest my eyes for a while...see you at the fliip.

It's possible I could help Nef if you are interested. I have admin privileges.
