dart got stitches for something? Just missed seeing that bit of the chog
dart decided to not use his feet for the last eight stairs last night
i now have one word for every day of the year. i will ponder the meaning of this for a couple of seconds until i can't take it anymore
Wouldn't you know -- I was telling a friend about Babble today and if she tunes in the 506 might scare her away

just what I was going to say
thoughtful thanks then jili
yw
lol gort!
good morning. This is a monday morning joke, right?
we wish, ruby! hi!
good morning all... I thought I'd steal a little bit of time to do a nice medium Monday grid... oops :)
hi spritey
hey jilli, good to see you... I will be gone from tuesday to thursday, so don't worry if the theme doesn't get updated.
ok sprite -- having a little holiday?
no, actually I am going to do a reunion and intervision/supervision course from the coaching school I graduaded from a couple of years ago. Will be my first time 'out and active' since I collapsed :) Am so proud of myself.
yay for sprite!!!
Oh wonderful, sprite! I'm so proud of you too!
lol yes! It may seem nothing much, but for me it is a huge step forward. Am SO happy I have the courage again. Am actually looking forward to it, and not fearing it :) And it is a 3 hours' drive, and even that is ok now.
Better and better. sprite! You're out of the woods!
I am, aren't I :) Thanks for the cheering!
You fought it and you WON!
3 hrs drive; that's enormous
in my 'old' days I didn't care about how far to drive, and 3 hours is nothing for our american and canadian babblers... but now it is definitely a milestone. So... how about you guys? And how is the grid, apart from huge?
all is well here, and the grid is not too bad so far, like other huge ones. Josh finished already.
I mean he finished ages ago.
ah that is good to know, I don't have to be sorry I started then :)
Other got over 350 or so before going to bed
sounds not too bad indeed.
I started late and have 233 -- would like to get halfway before going to bed.
you are close to that :) rubyfoo, you are very quiet? You ok?
yes, I'm fine, just tired
ty for asking
snare
nares
is Ms Snoopy back to where she belongs already?
oh so sorry. still dopey this AM, going to th PB for more coffee!!!
ty ruby, didn't have that yet
I'll come with you, could do with a cuppa myself.
she and I actually made peace and I don't think she snooped (or was too embarrassed by Sprite's trap!
oh how nice! Peace is a precious thing. Am glad for you both.
it was a big relief; we had some heart-to-hearts and I think all "issues" are resolved
am really glad. Much better!
this is a lovely grid but I'll be lucky to get half today
half of this one is still a medium+ grid
it's awfully large for a monday!
yeah I shouldn't be playing, lol. Lots of things to do. But I am gonna indulge anyway. I did the taxes yesterday, so I have ea4ed a treat.
I sent mine off on Saturday and feel the same way
roflollollllll I tried se7/36 just for fun and it took.
YAY -- over halfway!
well done, rubyfoo. I am always nervous about it and ours aren't even complicated. Will get money back from the government, so good news.
wtg jilli!
do you have a clue for that, then those 35 7's won't look so forlorn
yay jilli
a naughty clue... guys that produce semen ;)
oh and the singular too
husband is back with groceries, see you later
have a wonderful, brave day, sprite!!!
lol -- often found in nurseries
bfn rubyfoo, tell him hi from me please
bye ruby
LOL jilli! Very true!
one more word for nbt
need help?
got it, and it is the 9! *happy dance*
wtg sprite!
thanks, was just about to ask when I saw it :)
wooot and I found the 10. Relatively normal words too.
the 10 is a nice one
very
291 found and I must go to bed -- goodnight, and happy days...*poof*
sleep well, jilli. I am halfway, still a ways to go.
oookay... I just came in, looked at the word total, said 'woohoo!', looked at the grid and for about a whole minute couldn't see one viable word. Is this going to be 506 sticky, fiddly words? *stares at grid suspiciously*
back. I put away the groceries. Do all men buy "extraa" stuff that isn't on the list?
Ah, there some are. Hello Ruby, how are you?
yes they do. Or they bring something that was on the list, but they wanted to surprise you with a different brand/taste/preparation.
hi City
and no City, you will be going at full speed soon
but I'm the one who has to cook it! hahah
hi sprite, how's your bit of the world?
but, then again, anything is better than shopping myself
icy cold! It has been freezing last night, crazy weather. Yesterday afternoon I was in the garden without a coat.
ruby, am4 to that. I am grateful to my love for doing the shopping.
200 words to go - fancy such a big grid on Monday!!
yes, rolling now, thanks Sprite :) Must've just been overexcited
hi anike, nice going!
Hi Sprite - getting dirty looks from other half for sitting here so long
send him to the store!
tell him you need chestnuts, that will take him a while!
give other half your sweetest smile, send him shopping and go on playing :D
His a wounded sole - had a shoulder joint replacement a few weeks ago and is very restricted at the moment - sick of himself and driving me mad
aaaw, sorry I was so mean!
oh that is bad, am sorry for him. And for you. I always tell my kids: "Fine if you are bored, but that doesn't mean you can bore me too." ;)
so... no store. No heavy carrying. What kind of things amuse him?
I have my mum in hospital too so not much time to myself
Hubby amuses himself preparing racing motorcycles
maybe buy him a model?
no nooodles allowed!
(((((anike))))
had better go and organise dinner - son has been working up at the mines for a couple of weeks and coming home tonight - back later
{{anike}}
I will not give in to this insomnia
take care of yourself, too
But i alread have, if I a babbling.
oh no, kaplan, not again!
insomnia is a bad habit.
this will be a short one.
I'll write you a really boring e-mail about gardening, that could put you to sleep
or I could sing you a lullaby, if you lie
*like
I'll just play a few minutes and that will be it.
A few disappointing rejects - delish, dohs, delice
I tried delish, too, let's write a petition
hi sara
WOW over halfway for me.
I am right with you there. And hi Sara
wow, diz, I'm not even close
Also a phantom 'delicate' - hi ruby, good idea about a petition - and hi sprite
good job dizgrannie
Ruby, been at it on and off for 3 hrs
ahah
Congrats diz, lots left to do here - too embarrassed to say how many!!
in our spare time, sara! hahah
MOTH has gone to play Bridge so hoping to knock off a few words while he's away ... although I should be ironing, cleaning up after dinner, etc. - boring!!
he's playing bridge, you are playing babble, and you can do the housework together some other time ;)
Hye lovelies
hey Sarah the ironing etc will still be there tomorrow...lol
MOTH?
christ... 56 words?! seriously?! I've never seen a grid this big!
hello missie!
hi MissOm
hey Ruby <3
MOTH + man of the house
aaah
omg... im freaking out a bit here at the size of the thing!
That's a laugh - doing it together does not happen here. Hey Miss, if only 56!!
that + should an =
lol dizgrannie, I thought My OTher Half
diz is on the button - man of the house is correct
don't, MissOm. You can do as much of it as you please, or as little.
Oh I know, sprite, its been over a month since fireworks for me... /sadeface :(
**Peeewww!* *Bannnng!* *Fffffffffeeeeuw* ~*!*!~Fireworks~*!*! ~ for MissOm!
ahahah much love to you Sprite!
yvw ;)
wow, after 1 full sweep through lickety, i've still got over 100 left
actually that is not bad at all, gort ;) Nice to see you!
u 2 sprite, how's yr life?
pretty good today, and yours?
health's dodgy but my soul is in good nick, plus people keep being extraordinarily kind to me
Well done sprite - back to the grid for me. Would love to have a glas of wine while doing this but next grandbaby due and need to be on hand to look after grandson.
right now for instance, i am babbling, while dinner that someone else made is heating in the oven
Make that a glass of wine!
rotten about your health, gort, but those other things are great blessings :) And even better that you know how to count them.
do you mean sara, that grandbaby's arrival is imminent?
right u r sprite
you rock, Sara! Wish my mother was that involved!
maybe a glas is just a small one
Yes, actually due on 2 April but first child Ben was 12 days early so any time.
ruby, what a fabulous comment, perhaps I could have a small one!
so u r on an indefinite grog fast just in case? that's the sacrifice of parenting, u sure do rock
I think so.
any clues for the k or the 10 -- please
ruby and gort, torn between the two of you. I don't think it will be tonight as my daughter Jessica (expecting) and grandson Ben went to the local zoo today and no twinges at that time.
the K is 4 letters, japanese word for thanks
Not up to the K's yet - still ploughing through the 3rd column and haven't managed a 10 as yet.
you will get ku 4 if you finish this grid
ku4 usually plural and means something kinda odd like credit or brownie points
then have a wee dram (as Crossy would say)
and de10/91 wrecks everything.
thank you bookwomen! and gort
(and sprite, grin)
ty sprite, that gave me an 8 and a ten
Interesting that Japanese words are accepted but Oz terms are not - eg. rort. Wow, thanks sprite for the 10 clue, got it.
can i please have a clue for the sh8? i know it's footwear + something, just dunno what the something is, but it's not a bloke
my pleasure :)
you need it to close your footwear, gort
of course (smites self with sal***) thanks sprite
noooo don't smack the sa6!
*sprite loves sa6. Smoked sa6.*
ty sprite, 201 words!
good going rubyfoo!
sprite, thanks for the footwear and fish clues
yvw Sara :)
I must start concentrating on getting these words, although it is very difficult to tear myself away from the Chatterbox!
leon
we are irresistable!
not a word, but sorry anyway. getting punchy!
close though, rubyfoo
Don't I know it!!!
Hello everyone, this is a pleasant surprise
{{lynxx}}
hi lyn :) It is a pleasant one for sure.
ruby, go left after 'l' not right
and then plural
in the jungle, the mighty jungle, the...
ok, 'fess up... you are all singing it now, right?
and the anagram, the TV guy
You got it
(would hate to be the only one with this ear worm)
earworms can be nasty. The other day I got 3 phrases of Bach's B-minor mass, all the instruments.
yep that should do it, lol. I am awful. My kids call me a jukebox. A single word or a few notes will set me off.
I happens to me all the time, drives me crazy (ier)
216 and had better go and take care of husband
hah there you are! Finally got two Am biggies. They end in highest playing card(s)
almost halfway then, rubyfoo ;) Bye for now.
will look for the am biggies later, stoking up the monkeys!
*poof* and thanks for all the help
Well done ruby .. still plugging away here
i've tried amolace, amelace, amesace
amotace and a whole bunch more; where am i going wrong?
3rd and 4th letter
oh my word where did this beast come from???
only 99 left
hi froggie, from the babble well of great grids.
gort, try the last one again...
hello sprite - i aint NEVER gonna get through this one lol
so don't :D Just play and enjoy as long as it is fun.
ooooh, it worked, thanks heaps sprite, you're better than a monkey and much cheaper in terms of bananas
right - here we go!!!
*pushes gort into the PB and pats her on the head*
hah! Yeah, bananas, never mind. I eat smoked sa6!
lol thanks sprite (rubs noggin in confusion and hands over expensive sal*** and banana mousse)
we had joy, we had fun...
we had fish food in the sun...
se8: 1/60 of a minute + all by yourself (change last-but-one letter)
cool clue, thanks sprite, here's some sal*** caviar for you
yayyyy :) Best breakfast in the world.
really? sure it's not wheatbix (a foul, soggy, carboardesque, tasteless gruel consumed by a generation of aussies in the belief it will kickstart their day)?
oh wow fireflies! A speedy grid for one so big. Gort, I swear, if it is tasteless, I can do without for a while :)
does fireflies mean nearly fireworks, or does it mean you're grid blind with exhaustion and can only see itty bitt sparks?
it could be either, but the Word Stats say I have 0 left.
hi
yet it didn't give you the full blown display??
hi herin
How you?
lol couldn't say, was too amazed I had finished. Hiya lady :)
Howdy
ripped off! dr god owes u a case of the belugas finest
Well Sprite have some sparkelies
No bananas in my fruit-bowl - too expensive after Cyclone Yazi wiped out the Queensland crop and I refuse to pay the current asking prices.
I have been looking at Ikea hackers. Great website
tell on herin
Sara you are being ripped off. You go to your organic store and I bet you they are the same for Aussie nanannaas
Gort: http://ikeahacker.blogspot.com/
In the supermarket today they were $11.99/kilo - I refuse to pay more than $2.99/kilo.
Sara that is insane. My Organic store is cheaper than that
Mmm ... where are you?
Melbourne
I'm in Canberra - perhaps I need to shop around at the local markets rather than relying on the Coles, IGA, etc. outlets
The regular places that you mentioned jack the prices and never pass it on
cool site herin
Problem is our IKea is a rip off
That was one of the selling promos for the higher prices - profits will be passed on to the growers who lost their plants. Maybe I am too cynical but that didn't wash with me.
But never underestimate the reject corner
Yer yer they said that when Larry went through
ok am overdue for getting stuff done, must leave you. Have a lovely day!
loves
Sorry banana growers, but I will indulge in other fruits until bananas are reasonably priced again.
that's interesting...just above my grid to the top right, it says "NaN+ hours left"
Crust Pizza 7 cheeses pizza oh yeah
Sara - try this website http://www.capitalregionfarmersmarket. com.au/
Hi jwr, thanks for that, will try it.
Hi al - just glance over every once in a while: I'm at work.
howdy JWR
Has anyone worked out how many S words there are
108 S's
and I have 87
Hi Diz and good grief

sace
hehe not a word
I swear if my boss is a mega bitch tomorrow there may be postal
HOLY CRAP!!!!!!
Hi Carlee
well..apparently am NOT doing this grid...
hi herin
Do a little bit?

( yeuck)
Best of luck
thanks... I am still not sure its the right thing working there...
I am having that about my work
but..i need the $...an I want to reach my goal of ME 2012..i gotta start rakingin the coin
Morning ladies. What doesn't feel right about the job, Carlee?
the fact that my boss requires drugs for stability and when she goes off them she becomes a tyrant of a bully and screams at me as my dXh did
i LOVE the work
and when she on her drugs....she amazing
but she never stays on them
and morning molls :)
Hi Molly
I know of this. I have a friend like that. Perhaps you can keep your eyes open for other opportunities while you work there.
I am looking at ways of complaining tomorow
i am...i am going to sort this all out this week....cus my goal right now is a visit to dubai next summer....
dubai and a quick side trip to cairo and alexandria
Great. Goals are good. They motivate you.
how are things with you...and herin..why complaining?
Because my boss in short is a complete friggen bitch
lawyer?
Today I was treated like a thief whilst doing my job. No Secretary
ah
document the incidences.... maintain a log..and then present to her first....if that does nothing... present to superior
I don't take to kindly to being treated like I am a thief. I was cleaning a partners room and she is all WHAT YOU DOING. I was cleaning up after we shifted stuff
If I didn't do it there would have been bitching
were u doing what u were assigned to do?
Yes
then... dont worry..document it...
no one can like everyone
And no. I was told to remove folders which produced a butt ton of dust. That shifted to the desk. I had my cleaning wipes. I cleaned up after my self. THat and she took away confidential files even after I was told and labled do not touch.
have you signed a letter of confidentiality?
Yes in my contract and there was no signs up and I never retain any thing any way. If yuo tell me no touchy I don't
Any way sorry
I do hope your first day goes without a hitch
i had to day 1... so anything in office i can touch..i can read... i just dont speak about
They should be more worried about the leaks
oh it should... she been begging me to come back...
Wonderful Carlee
it just doesnt "feel " right..no matter...end justifies the means..and the end is dubai/ cairo
Well give it a shot
and later this week i will apply and braindead jobs..maybe get part time at one fo those... so i can save save save
more coffee..brb
Damn pity this wasn't a weekend grid
i hate big grids
i get bored
I love them Specially time to do them
:)
good morning everyone:) coffee break at work time to check out the grid hope everyone has had a good weekend
I have eaten too much pizza
Weekend was busy and I want this size on the weekend PLEASE and Thankyou
I have come to the conclusion that most weekends are busy before you know am back sitting at my desk on a monday lol
HA that is funny I am always flat out
!..506 on a monday..sigh.where was this grid friday night or sat morning?
Crossie in myt bed sleeping like I should have been
good thing about big grids, first 100 was a snap lol
Oh crikey quickest time in the grid need to go needed! Happy Babbling everyone:) bbl
I am using the list
hair all gooped..slicked..styled and in "hold" mode
sigh..good to be a guy sometimes, tad of gel on the fingertips, run fingers thru hair and done,no combing needed;) time 40 seconds:)
that sounds like me Crossie'
some days that works too crossy...
Have been plugging away at working out words and got out of touch with Chatterbox - too much to catch up on so I will say is good babbling to those still going, congrats (grr) to those finished, good thoughts to those struggling with anything, and good wishes to those with anything positive happening ...
ty sara, that covers everyone i believe;)
bye sara
byebye sara...
Hi crossy and car, and hi again herin
Why isn't 'caios' accepted?
I love GnW
?
Good News Week
with 506 EVERYTHING should be accepted lol
Go crossy!!, and thanks herin for GNW
Agreed crossy, though it has accepted some words I've just made up ...
please may i have a clue for the 9
el9 - start with what holds up underpinnings, end with the end of a Simpson philosopher.
Hi Haz
Good morning/evening all.
How you?
I'm fine, thanks.
thanx haz
You're welcome, Jiving.
I need the o from the bottom row for nbt, help please
oh4 - made a noise of surprise
Plus our old friends oh4 and oh5 - babblets resembling a US state.
howdy haz
Hello, cross.
thanks again Haz
You're welcome, Jiving. I'm heading back to the housework. Bye for now.
hello my dear babble friends. lovely big grid today! I could use a hint for the third column e please
howdy trif
TRIFFFFFs
never mind, and thanks to whomever sent that psychic clue!
hello crossy, and HERRRRRRIN
ahhh - the traditional "big grid silence" descends....:(
How you?:
honestly? a little burned out on the job front, which makes me incredibly uncomfortable to say, as I totally realize that I am so, so, so lucky to have the job I do. It's just been REALLY busy lately, coupled with a busy time of year for the kiddos, and I feel overwhelmed. That, and I have taken a total of ONE vacation day in the year and a half I have had the job
how is your new placement going, herin?
sucks and blows
are you working in air conditioning?
sucks
No
that is very disappointing! and you did SO well on your course, too!!! I am sorry to hear that, Herin
My boss is a cow
are you looking for something else, or just sucking it up and sticking it out for a set period of time?
I am strongly looking at saying something to the higher minons
sticking it out till end of placement
how much longer do you have to go?
err ljust over a month
I would stick it out until the end, and then ask the minions for an exit interview, and in that interview I would tell them what issues you had
we get 3 months in one area. I think I may say something this is probably the 3rd time she has done this
actually no 4
to you, or in general? and what do you mean by "this"? just generally being bovine, or is is something specific?
This as in been inappropriate
I am so sorry Herin. We were all so proud of how you did in your courses, and I so wanted you to love your new work. Sigh. But the three months WILL end, and better days will come.
I suppose if you are known for working well with Cow woman, it will look very good on you, and point out what a good worker you are, and what a huge cow she is
True. I just need to sus things out
lol,i see i will have a fun day,our natural 'air conditioning" is going full tilt, minus 8c with wind chill of minus 15 and my customers are bitchy cause the petrol is now $1.25 per litre or 5 dollars a u.s gallon...gonna be fun..anyone want to buy a gas station?? lol
I am good there, crossy, though I DO need to get gas today. Pretty happy about it too, as I am going to get it for .50 off a gallon, through a rewards program at my grocery store.
does gas ever freeze, crossy?
WTF are your customers complaining about try $1.50 a litre
those super stores kill us,they build a mammoth store, put 16 pumps outside of it and give you 2 cents a litre off on the groceries
no trif
mine only has five pumps in front, if that helps. And seriously, I would OF COURSE visit your station, although it's a bit far a field for me, at the moment. P)
Cross see my price then it is paid
them sell at margin at the pumps, just to get you in the store,we have to make our profit AT the pump..sigh
lol trif
and the damn air miles..bitch..wine..moan..snivel...k i am done
seriously, crossy, stay warm, and I hope people don't give you a hard time. it's not like you make it out back or something, or mrs crossy is whipping it up in the garden shed....
Crossie you guys can bitch and moan when it is $1.50 a litre
lol,true enough trif
this summer herin$1.40-$1.60 per lit
If we did an excahne rate conversion , the UK is at $2.23 a litre.
exchange*
been warning my regulars all winter to sell the big gas guzzlers
not to sound even more cross than crossy, but you all can bitch and moan when YOUR expresident has you mired down in a fictitious war that drags on with no end in sight, and good young men and women are dying for no good reason.
Holly Crap Zoo what do you guys live on
i know zooz,i have a uncle in london, has a tiny ford diesel and it costs him 100 dollars after you convert to fill it
My sister is in Afghanistan and says the Americans need to uncork
80% of it is tax.
trust me herin, most of america wants this stoooopid war to end, and to bring our people home safe. but bush cocked it up SO badly getting out now would be more than impossible, and cruel to boot
My sis finds it interesting in the different attitudes. ANd yes she has lost 2 of her troops
all those wars are sucking the country dry trif, the housing market is so devaluated and money so tight,my brother moved to las vegas, and got a 4000 sq foot brick home, less than 5 years old for 205,000 and THEY paid all closing costs
anyway, on that happy note, I hit the showers, try to muster up my happy, enthusiastic face, and away I go. blessings to you all
tc trif
Best wishes Trifs
Toodle pips, Trif :-)
and crossy, if anyone gives you guff, draw yourself up and say "ElizaBeth says you MAY NOT" -== they will be so confused and busy wondering what you are talking about, they will just drive away
lol, they think i sniff to many gas fumes as it is
actually, herin, you can try that at work, too. Tell the cow "ElizaBeth says you MAY NOT" -- it might work....
First three hundred words were easy..slowing down now.
delish should be a valid word by now:(
lol..did that one too..just changed the first letter and made it.
ahh yes,ty the hot dog topping
:-)
PT too.
balls those St words go on
on the bright side, the new gas prices will get those damn hummers, and escalades etc off the road, things will cost 200 to fill lol
Done it again!! ... left Chatterbox for too long finding words and now out of touch. Will say goodnight and good luck to those still going and I will plug away in the background. Cheers to all, Sara
i mean all that gas for a range of 400-600 kms? that is one nasty carbon footprint
we do not have many very big cars here.
i agree with your obama in that regard, all new vehicles to get MIN 35 mpg by 2014..great idea!
i know that zooz, you guys learned early
lol
and a lot of your fuel DOES come from lybia
hence the austin mini,s and morris minors and all those wonderfull little cars
thankfully i do not own a car, so do not worry too much about petrol prices..although it does effect me indirectly though.
yes,if it is at your grocer a lorry put it there;(
Exactly.
i love the old english lingo;) tyre,lorry,bonnet,boot...brilliant! lol
Well you were originally from Watford, Crossy :-)
plus reading the harry potter series for the first time,so my head is stuffed with the lingo;)
yes indeed
morning, all!
I have all the harry potter books & all first editions also.
howdy sue;)
Hello, Sue :-)
<-----still happy that I have a Prius
a nice grid of 506 for you sue, something to whip off by lunch time;0
What color is it, Sue?
crossy is watching the nissan leaf developments closely
Yeah, really, I have three classes to teach before lunch time, and so much grading that I don't know when I will ever finish :-(
It's a very light blue, zooz, and it's old (8+ years), one of the first models
has 114,000 miles on it now, still going strong
so,after 8 years sue, what issues do you have and is it a warm climate you run it in?
114?? lol did you park it for 3 years??
lol
i put 60,000 a year on
Phantom : Hectares
it's had a few minor mechanical issues - just had a little work done on the brakes and the fuel system (about $600 worth, really not that bad for a car that age). And it is cold here (northern Illinois)
it's a mile from home to work, so it doesn't get a lot of daily mileage; took it on some long trips (east, west, visiting family and whatnot) that put on most of the mileage
so regular winters of -10c and below?(crossy does not know illinois)
hahaha -10C would be warm, I think that's about the temperature now.
-10f i was converting for you
Wahooey!!!!!!!!! Big monster grid!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!
lol
first 300 are a breeze car
oh, ok, that's more like it, yes. We're in climate zone 5A, many winters it gets down to -20F or lower
nuts
kk,was just wonder on how the batteries were standing up,i mean it is easy to run the things in florida for 8 years, but was curious as to cold climate operation
so same as us then
that's temperature, not wind chill. Not a mild climate. Not as bad as Minnesota or North Dakota but right up there. Colder than Moscow according to my Russian postdoc. Florida we ain't.
Pretty much, I think.
Batteries seem fine, never given me any trouble.
anyway so far I have zero words, need to do my exercises and get to work, maybe I'll find a few during breakfast
"lol, did not mean to eat up yer time
np, I enjoy the chat at least as much as the puzzle :-)
YaY found the 10
What does it start with?
De 10/91
I can clue more if need.
Sure.......
some one who break things up..like buildings?
Ok, thank you.
Got it!
YaY :-)
Good morning/afternoon all

Hazy here but mild and I have been gridding rather than working (smacks wrist).
Just couldn't resist such a huge grid although it goes against all my babble rules.

Hi car.eeyore. Got to go. Hope I won't be long.
good morning/afternoon everyone
Hello, Annie :-)
Hi Annie!
hi zooz, well done!
hi car.
this grid is a monster, how is it ?
Awesome!
good to hear, will jump in with both feet
First 300 easy..then slows down for the next 100 then i found it really hard..listed at 28 left.
I just hit a bit of a wall at 270 found.
listed at 28 ! this is a feat in itself in a grid this size
I find smaller grids harder as they seem to contain tricky words.
that is still awesome, zooz
Thanks :-)
ஜ۩۞۩ஜ FIREWORKS ஜ۩۞۩ஜ
Any clues needed before i go?
yay for zooz
Well done, zooz!
morning all, help with K and A below it pls

hi car - el 4 - that crazy K-12 word that I never heard of before babble
em 7 - a green jewel
em7 Gem

el 9/60 - start with a stretchy fabric - end with chemical ending
Peri the 10 is De 10 one who destroys buildings
I've got 181 left but have to take a break for a while -

TY JBV!

Its Karma Kaplan....exercise your mind today....
Hello, Kap :-)
Ok time for me to do other things, take care, All.
Not getting the el 4 JBV clued?
Bye Zooz! Ty for your help!
el9 - starts with stretchy stuff, ends in last letters of Mr Simpson, comic character.
el + two letter word for hello.
TY! That gets me to 200 left! I will be heading out now for a bit! See you all later!
That was a very bad clue i gave there..just gave you three letters of the four..sorry about that.
*Poof*
Bye, zooz.

grannyrose, wtgo go go
(((Annie))) good morning. Did you have a nice visit this weekend?
How is Annie? Mom
she is very good, thanks. She is waiting for her breakfast.
Yes, very enjoyable..thanks
I am glad to hear that.
It probably did Bobby a world of good, and Liz too
Yes, Bobby was happy to be with the family. It was good.
excellent!
Zooz and FM have already finished this behemoth
I am jealous.
I will settle for half.
Perhaps Haz has finished also. Haz, are you still here?
I'm still here,and yes, I've finished.
Congratulations, Haz
Well done.
impressive! 177 to go here -- no list yet . . .

Hi Une
Thank you. It's a friendly grid for the most part.
((Une)) good morning
and good afternoon, Haz
Hello Mom and Une.
Good to hear that. I just started a bit ago and I like the grid so far.
need to take pups out to pee, but wanted to quickly check in :-)
potty break for Annie, brb
Not me....the dog. LOL
Babblephoria -- the heart-racing thrill of discovering a giant "fresh" grid! LOL
I actually clapped my hands in glee this morning when I deciphered the total. I had to blink to make sure.
LOL Haz! and greetings all.
lol Annie
Hello, FM!
Hello FM, congrats on your finish
Hi FMitch
and congrats to you
Hi Annie and Mom and all :)
found an 8 by myself
oh rats, phone!
Hi Peri, congrats on that
hi Mom and ty, small victories :)
only 322 left and no list :)
absolutely, Peri
lol, Peri 461 here
only 406 left here
only have an hour to play this morning. I am having lunch with my friend. She is Shay's Godmother and she is planning a surprise shower for Whitney.
I can't find my damn carkeys.
What fun, Mom
I am meeting a friend for lunch at noon.
Good morning all.
good morning Kap, they are here. :-)
I hate when that happens Kap. do you not have a spare set
Kap needs The Clapper. : P
I think it will be a great time. It is going to be at Pompiellio"s (sp) it is a spaghetti restaurant in Newport. It was also featured in Rainman
Kap, After doing that numerous times I finally made an extra set
they are not here, Kap* that is terrible, I hope they turn up
o
Hi Molly
did you leave them in the trunk lock, backtrack your steps
Sounds like a nice lunch Mom. Planning showers is fun.
Hi Molly and Razor
we are going to an Aisian Bistro, very good
today we are going to Smokey Bones, it is a rib joint
Ooo, sounds like lots of good out to lunch today. I am Charlie Brown, I brought leftovers.
left overs are always a winner
ude
oops .... forgot to switch
Oh, there is the witch burning town. Too bad it doesn't count.
hello again. 220 words this AM. How is everybody?
Hi Ruby
(((ruby)))
hmmm, wonder if they still make that cigarette? You can take Salem out of the county but, you can't take the country out of Salem.
((Ruby)) hello
hahah to Salem jokes
{{big hug for my friends}}
I remember that commercial and its catchy tune
dinner is cooking and I have about 45 minutes to look for some more words -- fat chance!
ooohhh dinner! what are you having?
do they still have cigarette commercials in the US?
oh no, not allowed
sometimes in magazines but not on tv
I've noticed in American movies, it is usually only the bad guys who smoke.....
a pack of Marlboro are about $12.
roast stuffed chicken, sweet potatoes, roasted beets (for me) and spinach souffle
you are kidding, Annie!
oooh, sounds delish
ruby, I kid you not.
here top brand smokes are also 12 dollars
wow Ruby, sounds like a feast
When I was a kid and we had the candy store, cigarettes were about 20 cents a pack!
(((Crossy))) good morning
I stopped smoking when cigarettes were $1.25 a pack
((MOM))
I felt rotten this AM and husband had to fix his own lunch so, out of guilt, I made him his favorite dinner
Hi Crossy
ruby, I hope you are feeling better
how much does gasoline cost now? I've been away 13 years and times have surely changed!
morning babblers :)
3.58/gallon here
I put on "pain patches" and slept for 2 hours and it worked
$3.89 a gallon for regular gasoline
good morning ((Nono))
hello hello, no no!
howdy nono
Ruby gas here where I am is 3.69/gallon
hokay. am done. pretty sparklers here...can i help anyone?
glad you are feeling better Ruby
that is still surprisingly inexpensive; it is much more here
5 dollars a gallon here
that is amazing, grannyrose. How long did it take you?
{{crossy}}
$ 5.00 !!!
Hi nono
3 and 1/2 hours, ruby
Congrats to grannyrose!!!!
holy moly!
Congratulations Grannyrose
Hi Jes
it's more than $2 a liter here but I don't know how many liters are in a gallon!
yup..$1.25 per lit (u.S gallon =3.78 lit, can gallon was $.11 lit
granny, you are a wonder
hi mom. 505!?
I have heard that gas prices in the US are about the cheapest
4.11*
thanx annie and mom
molly you are almost a phantom!
hard to use imperial now,no sense anyways since it is just the states and some island near the equator still using it lol
and 3 days running: ruby was in, then crossy and then Annie's last name!
Annie it seems i broke my smoking habit around the same time you did maybe a bit earlier
nono, it was 26 years last december
the mrs and i quit in 2002
yay for crossy and mrs. crossy
i quit in april of 83
way to go Crossy and Elegant
28 years for you nono!
my dad quit in 1977. Sadly Sweetie's parents are still smoking
congrats to all who have managed to quit....... its not easy
you are all amazing!
congratulations to all of you.
It was very hard but worth it many times over
husband says that he craved them constantly for 2 years after he quit
I'm sure he wouldn't have survived this long if he hadn't
annie, if you are still counting the days, you are still a smoker. i am trying to give up now. i think some-one is always a smoker, you are just a smoker who isn't a smoker
smokes were $7.50 a pack then,so after we quit, for 2 years every day we each put the price of a pack of ciggies in a large empty planter we had in the livingroom and i did not touch it till the 2 year mark .we counted it and rolled all the coin up
oh for sure Annie. and not just economically
good morning - back to find a few more
how much did it amount to crossy?
hi jbv
hi JBV
506 words today? OH MY!
granny, not really counting but every dec. 7th I say "I did another year"...so maybe
hi Nef
((JBV and Nef)) good morning
hi nef
Hi Nef
$12,160.00..i wnt to the car dealership and paid for a new car with it in 2004 (still driving it)
it must be an illusion, nef!
hi, all, back briefly JUST NOTICED THE TIME ACK!!
hi ruby - did you find your ring? I found my safe deposit key - it was between the pages of a notebook where I keep a list of what's in the box! :)
hi Sue
((uusue)) morning. Are you running late?
very, sorry
no, sadly, and I still haven't told husband. Please don't tell him
wonderful Crossy.
ok, ruby - it will turn up, I'm sure
oh Ruby, I'm sorry your ring is lost.
amazing Crossy!
I'm glad you found your key. I'm sure the ring is in the town dump!
why are you sorry, uusue?
hi uusue
do you take it off to wash dishes and such?
*runs to work*
was ony 200 dollars difference tween what i had on me and the sticker price so after checking no local banks had been robbed(as no one ever pays it all in cash) he called it even
I know exactly where I last saw it, in the kitchen, next to the sink. It must have wound up in the kitchen trash
it's hard, annie. this will be the 4th time i have quit. after my angina attack, i realised that i just HAVE to quit.
lol Crossy, that is the least he could have done
poor ruby..lose a ring?
you never know - it could have fallen into the knife drawer - don't give up
ruby could it have fallen down the drain and maybe in the trap
granny, it can be done...hard, but it can be done..I quit 2x before I finally quit
yes, my wedding ring. I checked that and every possible place
oh ((Ruby))
it makes me sick because, although I thought it was too gaudy, my husband was very proud of it
thanx, ruby...i'm down to 10/day...*sigh*
may I have the stats for the A in the 5th row, please
ad5/14, both of them
ad5/14 Mom
Both re ad5
thank you Ruby and Nono
and Haz
(((ruby))) How awful! I've never lost mine; but DH lost his 3 times last year and got it back each time. So we finally had it re-sized at Christmas (his finger size went from a 13 to an 11)
I still don't have half and doubt that I ever will!
that is amazing that it was found; I have no more hope for it although every now and then I think of another spot
I lost my original wedding ring we think probably in the garden years ago
sh
hi inge
good morning Inge
was it an antique?
phantom: shmo
hello inge
got the A's thanks so much
ruby, when i lost my grandmother's engagement ring, i thought it was the end...then i realised, it wasn't so imoortant, but the way i felt for my grandmother was important, and the memories i had of her
that's a good philosophy but I feel worse for my husband, than for me.
mine was not antique ruby but still meant a lot to me
does anybody have the bottom o for nbt?
i'm sure your husband will understand
I'm afraid to tell him as he has had such a horrible year
oh4 and oh5 are babblets, plus oh4, made a surprising noise.
first he lost it in a small restaurant in another town; the cleaners were taking the trash out of the bathroom and felt/saw something heavy in the trash bag. Then he lost it in the ER; he had a CT scan of his head and it was on the floor in the CT room. The last time we'd been out shopping and he was sure it was in one of the stores. My daughter went outside to get the dog back in, and she saw something glint in the snow --his ring again. THAT was when se took it in
ty haz
thanks Haz, for the Oh words
thanks Haz, had the noise one but had over looked the others
darn, my knee
darn, my knee
I had forgotten those babblets
finding the ring in the snow, I wish!!!!
You're welcome.
right knee is really starting to play up, so, off to bed i go. see you all at the flip
good night granny
pleasant dreams, Grannyrose. I hope your knee feels better
I felt very bad when I left my engagement ring on the counter in a jewelry store and left. When I realized what I had done I called the store and they told me it was not there. So I am not the only one who has lost valuable rings. They are only things.
bye granny, have you tried the local heat thingies? they stick on and seem to help a lot
love, hugs to all, *poof*
bye granny
you are right, Annie, but I still feel terrible
oh ruby! I love my heat packs for my arthritis!
ruby, I still feel bad but it is only a thing.
that's what I used today and then 2 hrs sleep and I was fixed
they are really expensive here, but worth it
Annie, that sounds really awful that a jewelry store wouldn't notice a ring out like that! Was the store very busy that day?
they also have little things that stick on and administer pain meds locally that seem to work (and they are less cumbersome)
Nef, I love those lost and found stories - there was some magical connection that wouldn't let that ring be lost
Annie, it could have been the clerk that took it
you are right, jbv, it's like the dogs that get lost and come back months or years later
or find the family's new house
it happened with a scarf that my mother knit for my son when he was a baby - he lost it at least 3 times, I tracked it down in a supermarket, a snow drift and the school lost and found box
I'm pretty good at finding stuff - If I were there I'd help you sccour the house ruby
you must be doing something right, jbv!
ruby, when I worked in the hospital I felt that the $2.00 per pack was worth it so I could work my 8 or 12 hour shift and I went through 2-3 packs per day. Now that I don't earn as much; I'm more liable to use the reheating packs for around the home and the disposable ones for work only as necessary (clinic days especially)
ruby, my husband had a prescription pain patch that helped him a lot with his sciatica - much better than the over-the-counter ones
do you know which medication it had in it?
the heat packs cost 12 euros each which is about $17!
JBV, I kept teasing DH that he couldn't get rid of me that easily! :-) We just had out 36th wedding anniversary last week too!
hmm, not at the moment, but I can try to check
happy anniversary, Nef!
I always thought it was the clerk also that took the ring.
singing "Happy Anniversary to you"
I lost a small gold heart with diamonds that my husband had bought me and I remember feeling so bad and afraid to tell him - when I finally did, he went out and bought me another just like it :)
you're probably right about the clerk
happy anniversary Nef!!
Happy anniversary Nef
JBV, What a lovely thing to do! What a gem your husband was.
that one never turned up, but who knows? If I ever really clean out my closets, who knows what I'll find :)
boy oh boy, that is a nice story, jbv
Happy Anniversary Nef. JBV, what a sweet story about Mr. JBV.
near
I have that one
whoops, sorry
Holy Cats, ruby! Are you talking about the IcyHot patches and the Therma Care patches? That's what I use mostly; but I recently found some tiny patches which have salicylate in them that help for smaller areas (Salonpas)
Here's what made it even more special: my son and I went to New Mexico to visit my brother and the day I arrived was my birthday. My son opened up his little backpack and took out the box with the heart from my hubby - I couldn't believe he let this kid carry such a valuable present all alone (he was 5 years old!!!)
I got mixed up, having tried the vodka brand
what a story!
Nef, Lovely lovely story
oh my JBV what a sweet story
(sorry for late post, had a phone call) And thanks for the anniversary wishes
one more wish for you Nef - Happy Anniversary

that's a big help but probably a lost cause
Sorry, scrap the last clue
don't have the am7, will look
twas a strange one!
scrapped
am7 - am a vowel then a reworking of the container you use to put your clothes in for holidays.
Rework it so that am7 ends in a high card/unreturnable tennis serve.
And then plural for am8.
don't know anything about tennis. container fro holiday clothes?

Work with the high card ending Peri. It's a weird word.

sometimes i wonder when my mom says she's concerned that my sister learn something, so she doesn't want to help her too much with money, if that's really just a cover for not wanting to part with the money.

so does that el9 that was mentioned start from the 4th row E? cause i haven't got any E's from there
it does hurshy
is it weird or normal?
I thought the el9 came from the third row E.
the third row E isn't even next to an L :)
I guess it could come from either. I get so lost in these big ones.
3rd column molly :)
anyone have the first me 6/24?
i dont ruru sorry
3rd column, 4th row...see, told you I get lost.
is the el9 weird or normal?
Weird
kind of wierd, would you like a clue
may i have a clue then please? thanks.
i think me 6-24 means one who wins a prize at the olympics
starts with the stretchy material and ends in a chemical ending
i play babble every day but I'm more of a lurker. I frequently saw (controversial?) dialogue from a member called Nancy Boy. Last night I saw a memorial of sorts on another members profile. Did he pass away?
yes cg he did

molly thats usually because they were lurking for a while
lol you should be around for the flip molly--people blow through the grid
i wonder how long it took gremlin to do this one?
i sometimes wonder if someone has an auto program to solve
I have looked at the times for flip people and it frightens me.
everyone has their own goals and marks of achievement. those who have high ones shouldn't be deprived of sharing their joy just because other people may not be able to do the same thing.

he 5/12 and 6/21 = short form for whirlybirds
the author is Camilleri - the character is Inspector Montalbano - if you ever have a chance, he's like the Sicilian John Grisham, there are about 100 title :), just kidding but almost
sort of
not a prosecutor, he's a detective

crossy, Is trout an oily fish?
i don't debone anything! has to be filleted from the dhop but i don't like fish with loads of bones!
*shop
I can't stay glued to a grid all day. I like a recreational smaller grid to pick at when I take a break, but these huge ones don't qualify.
my godmother is first nation decent and can do miracles with pike, she would steam the fish then spend hours picking out the tiny bones and would make home made breaded pike cakes...;)
sounds nice crossy but not the hours picking bones bit!
trout is dead easy and fast to prep
from still flopping to ready for pan in under 4 minutes
sorry vegans and grazer! lol

uusue, your dad is so young looking to be 80 in that picture
online search reveals that it's fragrant and squishy LOL
isn't he, Mom? he still doesn't look like he's about to be 90 - I'll have to take another picture the next time I see him.
he is very handsome
i think it's really hard to tell people's age these days . . .

I am desperately trying to make good use of the grid.
hi sue, have my nose in the grid. trying to get done by *;15 per Mom
At the rate it takes me to do a normal size grid, I would be unemployed and house bound if I was compelled to finish a grid this size. And the house would be filthy. : D

i eat quinoa all the time. i mix it in with rice dishes to add some protein and fiber. i want to try it for breakfast someday, but i think i would need a lot of fruit to sweeten it up.
I love barley too--low glycemic index.

hi stid
hi, stid!
sorry to hear about the migraine...how's teaching?
the first la7?
la7 intolerant (milk)
not bad pini -- haven't done any yet really... *grin* but tomorrow I get to do the "morning math" including the following wonderful word problem:
oh, sorry, 1st = la + cons + sound
oggg i forgot to try the 3rd letter thanks
8 people are at a party. Each person shakes every other person's hand once. How many handshakes take place? Be ready to explain your answer with a drawing or a diagram.
go cos go!
64?
isn't that a sort of milk-derived acetate-type chemical?
got it.. thanks for both la7
oh, oh, oh---we did this one in class earlier in the month
no wait...that doesn't work
should i ask Jakester that question
yw cos
I would be interested to see how he gets his answer, DR. It's a 5th grade "spiral review" type question. Hey mcurl! you using McMillan et al. Math Connections, too?
I think there might be a x2 in there somewhere...
yes
sorry, "Math Connects" *sigh* all these textbook names to le5
:-D I will probably pick your brain soon, mcurl! :-D
the last la6?
kill me now -- my last word is a 4-letter "s" -- aarrgghh
la + face smeller
git'r dun, une!!! :)
thanks
I'll give you a hint, pini. Remember that a person can't shake their own hand, and once a pair of people have shaken hands they don't do it again.
the one thing we have found is that the book doesn't always have the right answer or is very vague AND I've found (correcting the papers) that the answer sheets are not always right
allons-y, cherie!
right, stid...but there are 2 hands in every handshake...
that is true, mcurl, we have had a similar issue. That's actually why I am teaching tomorrow. The answer is easily derived mathematically, but the logic behind it is a little squishier if the students aren't yet at the higher end of algebra.
why cant a person shake their own hand?
8 x 7 = 54?
so pini -- you and I shake hands. How many handshakes is that?
WAAAAAHOOOOO!!
whew . . .
wtg une! :)
my teacher used 5 students and actually acted out the answer so that they could visually see it
stid, i learned a cool french expression last week
Youppi! Une fait la grande finale!!!!
oh shoot, 54 doesn't work either
you know how you say "courage" to mean "you can do it!"
what is this new expression?
well, this is "hauts les coeurs"
yes... courage! My word of the day every day for three years...
keep your heart high . . . my daughter and really like it! :-)
Stid- he said GEEZ MOM- I am trying to write a paper
that is tres elegant!!
(oh - lay - cur)
rofl DR!
<-- getting pencil to work out problem
ok, gotta run -- thanks for all the help! *poof*
they are le5ing about homelessness
bonne nuit, Une!
pini -- put the individuals in a circle and DRAW what happens...
25!
good. My friend in 6th grade decided to make "hobo" a word for her students so they would have to figure out what it means... they were using it to indicate any person who lacked material wealth, and very inappropriately.
Did I win????
oh! SO close, pini!
* sigh *
28
<-- going back to drawing board
the first person shakes 7 peoples hands... the next person will shake how many peoples' hands? (remember they already shook the first person's hand)
I see from review, that I missed 2
how about 27???
make that 28!!!
closer.... don't forget the last person needs to shake someone's hand. :-D
you GOT IT!
very glad I am not going to be in stiddys class tomorrow!
thx mcurl! :)
28. As mcurl said. *tosses choclits*
me too Red.
it's kinda tough to see the pen in the dark!
ah red, but now you know one way to approach that problem (there is more than one way).
oooohhhhhh good choclits! Thanks ;-)
I am going to bed with 205 words...
well done dr
gnight Babble friends- be well
ty PIni - GNight
sweet dreams DR!
I can shake my own hand.
night, dr!
but kaplan, you are WAY precious. And the problem says "shakes every other person's hand once" (or should have)
<-- taking a Koda(k) moment...brb
I thought you were saying it couldn't be done. I did it.
I INTENDED to type "precocious"
Pardon me, I just woke up.
but neither my eyes nor my figners are working well now.
so it's not like the barber who shaves everyone that doesn't shave himself?
*sigh* too tired and migrainy. Tomorrow is another half day with conferences, and then the weekly seminar in the evening.
sue, you're up late -- still grading papers?
our conferences are wed-fri then spring break *modified happy dancing*
no, I finished the exams and am leaving the class problems and homework for another day
such as tomorrow...
which happens in 23 minutes for you?
okay, this is me, falling asleep at hte keyboard. (((hugs and choclits and sweet dreams to all))) *poof*
oh - mcurl, any day next week look good for coffee? I can come to your town or you can come into Shelton or Olympia (your call)
