good morning, but i think everybody is gone.....
no, I'm still here pecking away
hi ruby, I'm here, lurking, how are you today?
How are you
hi Mummy
hi Lynxx, still warm in Melb?
hi mummy. How is your weather. It is finally strting to look like spring here although it's not exactly warm.
{{lynxx}}
happily no...Autumn has sort of arrived.
Awful, very cold and raining again today. Trying to decideed what to do with the rest of the day, still sitting here in my pj's! Have friends coming round for dinner tomorrow night so better make a list and do some shopping
oops - just looked at the 7 day forecast - back into the 30's next week!
if I ever complain about the heat, you have permission to shoot me. This has been a horrible, nasty, winter!
I'll swap with you lynxx, beam me up
it was the nastiest winter and very long, but the ground never frozed solid, so everybody (not us, fortunately) has been sick
well we are having a Summer in Autum and there was even a couple of tornados up on the Vic/NSW border yesterday - very unusual for us
froze* duh
When we first lived in Meb it was 43 the first day and the next day we decided to picnic in the Dandenongs, what do you know it was 17 and raining. Ended up lunching in the pub, but we did meet Toadie (from Neighbours) what a lovely young man
Climate Change! some-one was telling me earlier thgis week the even previously predictable ocean currents - esp to do with El Ninos - have gone wacko, swirling all over the place instead of doing the usual loops
just looking up Toadie - I occasionally watched Neighbours many years ago
ah yes I remember that character. We have a lot of backpacker places near where we are and I still see the 'Neighbours' touring van around
we've lived here 15 yrs or so, and the climate is totally different
Ryan Maloney, that was in 1999! so he's grown up now. I haven't watched it for years
it is nastier with both less snow, just small amounts but spread out, and much less winter sunshine
At least
At least the nights are lighter now which makes a huge difference. WEll, better go now and shower and get ready for what'sleft of the day
They say what we are seeing now will become the norm. Issues for us...with hardly any rain this Summer. We don't have the snow or glaciers or lakes that other continents have
bye Mummy
bye mummy
I got a red box and coudn't say bye or enter words for a while
same here - maybe the' hiccup' has changed from 2 hours to 5 hours?
got the x now off to lunch

((((ruru)))) hey all
omg hi stid. I was really upset to hear about your home
Hello, Stid :-)
are you guys okay?
I'm so sorry for you guys.
we are okay, ruru
Oh dear..just read your profile, Stid....very sorry to hear about all the badness that has happened.
we are upset, and I need to restock everything.... but we are okay. My son went into the house to put out the fire, and it could have been so much worse than it was.
we are okay
is there anything we can do for you
not right now, ruru -- our insurance company is wonderful. The agent came out personally the same afternoon and talked to Tom. We have a nice little extended stay hotel for now and will have an apartment next week.
Hugs and kisses from here too stid. So glad your son is safe
Oh, my gosh, Stidmama. I am so sorry for your losses.
When I am settled, ruru, I would love it if you would help me think through what I need to get for my kitchen again. All my lovely European brandies and such are lost.
thanks chrissie and poodletoes
let me know..jilli has my email address and can forward it to you
Thanks ruru, will do.
Just catching up with chat - So sorry, Stid, especially about the animals. But please tell your son never to do that again! Going back into a burning building is so danferous.
zoom, I hadn't seen you in a long time -- are you doing okay?
do you have any idea what caused the fire? so sorry to hear about it.
oh helensgirl -- I was okay until I found out he had done that. My brother was a firefighter -- certified to train other fire fighters and an arson investigator. HE will talk to his nephew about personal safety and "what to do next time."
mklein, we are still waiting for a final determination, but it was definitely electrical.
I am fine, Stid..thanks for asking...just plodding along...more concerned you you & your family .
When I know, I will let you all know what to avoid...
We will be okay, zoom. I think of it as a good way for my boys to learn how to cope with loss. They can focus on the grief and we can take care of the details for them, and they can watch and learn.
Wow, you are being so positive
You are a wonderful mother, Stid...lots of hugs to you.
Actually, we have such lovely insurance people who called (serendipitously) a neighbor-friend to be the contractor for securing the house and demo. Our friend came out personally that first day, something he rarely does, and stayed with us until we had seen the house was secure then shooed us off to the hotel and insisted we rest.
Good morning, all. Oh, Stiddy - so sorry to hear about the loss of your home and pets. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}}
Everyone has been such good support for us, and the babble community as well, we are blessed.
(((((stidmama and family))))) glad you and family are ok. so sorry to hear about your house and your pets
thanks judi
What was a cause of the fire? Do they know yet?
(((peri)))
we are waiting for a final determination, judi, but we know it was electrical and we know it started near my favorite chair.
I put a couple pics on my website.
but fair warning they are a little disturbing
Okay. I'll probably pass.
they kept telling us to take any valuables out of the house. <grin> I kept saying I didn't have any left! Then I remembered my antique books, the sculpture from my dad, and my scarves from France. Most of which are no longer of value to anyone but me.
These are the "invaluable" things, irreplacable
Well i am pleased you managed to salvage a couple of things at least.
*Hands Stid the coat off my back*
So I didn't have to worry too much. I'll go back to the house again today with a flashlight and search through my closet and pull out everything I can think of that I want the cleaning crew to try to salvage. There won't be much at this point. I was too much in shock earlier to realize that I had to get things out in the first 24 hours, if I wanted them "restored."
I am too, zoom -- and the best part is we had a storage locker and the negatives for ALL the photos (23 years married) are in there, not in the house.
whats the url for your website stid?
thanks judi. I DID have my good raincoat with me at school that day, so at least I wasn't completely adrift. I also always have a towel in the car, and extra granola bars, and a few paper towels.
Photos are priceless in my oopinion....excellent news, Stid.
I am so sorry, Stid
my screen name, mklein, dot com
thanks mael
The safety of the photos is wonderful, Stid! It's the thing I fret about most, when I feel compelled to fret. You will be in my thoughts all day - keep strong and hug the kids!
anyway, my phone just buzzed, and I have to get my day started. Thanks for listening, all -- that is the most valuable help for me right now, letting me process this in chunks. I'll be online a little bit over the weekend, then teaching next week and then off for spring break. I am looking forward to getting back into the classroom.
***Hugs and choclits for all*** *poof*
bye Stid, we'll be thinking of you!
OH my gosh -- just wandered in and read -- stidmama!!! Will check out website. Hugs and prayers to you.

hehe
oops, I missed those ps words.. am on my final sweep now as I stayed up after the flip
and now in honor of car's birthday,i give you a birthday themed crossy's tidbit of the day!!!
May 22nd, is the least common birthday in the U.S.
counting back
Sept is a busy month, what with the start of school and all..
and still not so cold
picante isn't a word?!
first day back to school for the kids is always a big day for baby seed planting:))
sire
oops
yes, jafro? oh,thought you were adressing ole crossy there:))
hi jafro
hello
is everyone frozen solid?
I think its piquant jafro
it's above freezing here
hi mixi
in texas, picante is a perfectly viable word, means spicy
hi aloy
afraid of rabbits? you should touch base with our very own scrabbler as she has many of them as pets and can alay your fear of them, jafro
I know I have seen picante sauce in the grocery store
picante IS a word
it is indeed, but enabe is enable
hi Wyrd.. agree
piquant means spicy.
sigh
piquante is the main spelling i see here
haha, crossy, i am afraid of rabbits and guinea pigs
irrationally of course
oic
i was attacked by a chipmunk in woods once, wild animals are wild animals
well, you can keep those nocturnal sqealing fur bags that are guinea pigs
lol..WHEN CHIPMUNKS ATTACKK!
there is a tv show there
I know! and ive worked in the woods LOTS, its not like im chicken
how scary!
i musta been by its babies
thing that size attacks you kick it for a 30 year fiend goal
field
it was like jaws, i could see waves in the short underbrush as it circled me
lol
de 7/36, 2nd one, pls
the killer chipmunk!
do chipmunks get rabies?
I think the English word is piquant. Picante is Spanish.
possibly
i had a black bear chase me once,a chipmunk seems to pale after that
rabies is actually rare though
a raccoon attacked me once, midday.. i do believe it was sick
depends on where you are wyrd
now,on the other hand, coons can and often do carry rabies
raccoons are mean, ive been hissed at lots in broad daylights by them
we've had at least four confirmed rabies cases locally, from skunks
im in oregon jafro, and it happens but its rare
especially if they are normally nocturnal and they are out like that in day
fortunately, I had a 3-prong hoe in my hand
i LOVE oregon!
aloy did you have to use it?
i think one must remind themselves of breeding season, animals protect their young
i do too jafro!
we had a rabid fox attack our cattle heard once when we had the farm..total disaster..killed the farm
Bichon, I don't have that de. Lokking myself.
Or looking
ty Bea
wow crosshair
yes, jafro, I lunged at it like some kind of judo move that I had seen on tv and hollered at the same time, diverting it into the bushes.. it was running straight at me!
the cattle the thing actually bit and all uninoculated cats and dogs were shot immediatly and the rest of the cattle were put under quarantine for duration of incubation time
that is terrible, crossy
ninja raccoon killer
and how long was that crosshair?
got the de 7/36, anyone want a hint?
the quarantine period?
Sure, bichon.
a month an a half or so,just to be sure
yes
need sp6,21 first one.

ty
yw
that is very sad crossy
was a sad time.waking around and shooting all your own pets..2 dogs were saved as they had shots
walking
rabid fox found about a mile from here.
well, fw here - any clues needed before I go?
no ,ty,alow.tis early going for me yet
sp6,21 first one
i bet that was awful crosshair
sp + the beginning of Ike's last name
we were partly to blame for not getting ALL pets rabies shots
ty aloy. fireworks.
yep, thats the important one for animals for sure,
ty,aloy
wow, we just had an unexpected rain shower.. yay for mixi! Happy Babbling all, poof
my 2 cats have had all their shots.
good stuff:)
our cats have all their shots now and microchipping
my dog may or may not be all caught up, can't remember, but he runs from all wildlife, scaredy cat
and it is so inexpensive now.25 dollars for each microchip
course that doesn't help if he gets attacked and can't run fast enough
and microchipped. did have collars with bells when they were allowed to roam.
or they eat dead, rabid road kill
ooh, i didn't think about him EATING it and getting it!!
our 3 cats are indoor kitties.i have had to scrape too many animals off the road in front of our place
can happen jafro
There was a man who died from rabies after receiving a transplanted organ.
you're right, i just never made that connection. that it could be transmitted that way.
Did they ever reeal how the organ donor contracted the rabies
I wish more people would have "indoor cats". We have one that roams the neighborhood who is a total pest. And he's mangy as hell too.
Stats for the 11 please

It was fine for me because I found 4 pr words I did not have. So thank you zooz
hey zooz...sometimes ya gotta be loud to get their attention. :)
Bichon, are you still here?
yes Bea
They are ot sure how the donor got rabies, but it was a raccon type.
They didn't suspect rabies until one of the transplant patients died.
Good Afternoon Everyone. BzznBea; what is this? Where was it?
hello everyone :)
The transplant patient was from Maryland.
Hey, nan.
wow, Bzzn; that's horrible! How many recipients were there? How many got sick? What did they do?
There were four recipients. After the first died, they started treating the others with shots.

Any other brits about - can't believe we are snowed in again (Lancashire)
you've had a rotten go of it this winter chrissie, sny relief in sight?
we had flurries and it is bitter and windy
Spring seems so far away!
Feel sorry for the wildlife
No Kate, still snowing heavily
Back again. We have beautiful sun but 26 (F) cold. I still have well over 1 1/2 -2 feet of snow in my back yard, with snow piles over my head at the foot of the driveway.
it's snowing here too, if it's any consolation.. and the robins had started to return
i am freezing, i don't care about energy, i am going to create my own personel summer posthoaste.
And opening day for baseball (the MN Twins) is April 1st; in the new open stadium (whoever thought that was a good idea wasn't thinking!)
hi nef :) sending warm thoughts your way to melt the white stuff
Yay, babble solidarity against the snow and cold :)
oooh no
what, TO?
hi TO, you're just in time to open the bar and pour us all a little warmth ;) opening day for the first toronto blue jays game was also very snowy - must be a northern tradition
*Joining the solidarity* Hell no! Hell no! We don't want your stinkin' snow!
i hereby do declare the bar open! i am pouring godiva liquor on the rocks
hurray for
did anyone wath.listen to the noon concert with dawes today? i ducked out early to catch the 12:30 train and glad i did
TO and molly!
Last year it was in the upper 70's for the opener; but the year before we had mild temps but still had snow.
last year southern ontario had 20 days of 15+ degrees C...(15 = 60 F)
I think we are paying for last March. Back then, we had several days in the 70's. It's still cold here and the buds are struggling to bloom.
all spring, Kate? Or all summer?
i can remember a st pat's in the 's where it was 80
This time last year the UK had loads of hosepipe bans, this year we have 70 flood alerts
lol... pay back's a bitch ;)
very true, TK
and we are going to have a drought
I remember lots of warm St. Patrick's Days. I usually have two outfits planned, depending on which way the weather goes.
No drought here. The ground is soaked from all the rain.
For St. Pat's last year we ate on a terrace and listened to live music; this year we froze our rears while inside!
i think we can all agree it has been a very bad, dreary, nasty winter all around... commiserating {{((group hug)))}}}
drought predicted for spring.summer. after all of the trees hacve fallen from mother nature's hanky panky
oh my, an x word!
Hi TO
Popping in for a minute to tell you... I officially have been offered the job. Yay!!!!
hi nrk!
oop, bbs
nrk! hello
Hi TraderKate. Sorry to just drop in and have to leave quickly. I'm between appointments on a freelance gig today, and wanted to let TO know my news. She was with me at dinner the night before my interview earlier this week.
YAY, nrkii! Is it something you feel good about?

the sp words are all hiding.... do i need a fishing pole for them?
I've only found 1, sp 6/21. How many are there?
i have the same one nef, there are 4 more sp 5/12, sp 7/36, sp 6/21 (the first), (the one i have) and sp7/32
... there are 2 sp 6/21 in a row...
oh dear, Time to go hunting then
the last sp 6/21 is a comparative form of "agile" and the 7 following it is the superlative form
thanks, TK. still working on them
i gave up and moved on to the dreaded se words
is the 11 a compound or superlative or does it use anothe word within it?
it is the characteristic of the pe 7/32 before it
the pr 7/36 is in it, TO
I've found 4 of the SP words, TK! Thanks! :-)
yw, you've got 2 more than i do
hi again all!
so I would have nbt if it weren't for the lone r in the lower left, and nbs if there were no words longer than 6 letters :-)
hi sue, how goe the grid?
the sp7/32 is pt of the sp5, TK
but I'm just getting started so that's ok :-)
hi uusue. How are you today?
sp 7/32 is the superlative...sp 7/36 i don't have yet
pretty good, nef, I came home from work because Frank is sick (has a cold) and right now am procrastinating about moving
(I read the caring bridge update, I hope Frank gets rid of the cold ASAP)
the doctor prescribed some extra antibiotics which I just brought home
if it's really a cold it's probably viral but we don't want him getting an infection of some sort on top of it
I'd think the idea of moving at this time is kind of overwhelming (to say the least!)
dont panic people i have returned
it is, rather. I've hired the sister of one of my friends who's been doing a lot of cleaning, organizing, and packing (as well as laundry and dog-walking) which has been an enormous help
yay cos! :-)
:)) @ cos
hi cos. :-)
Having the most healthy lunch ever and when I say healthy I mean delicious and very bad for me
oh-oh. What was it, cos?
yes, why is it that delicious and bad for you seem to go together so well???

I had a huge bowl of pho soup (I think that's how it's spelled) which is supposed to claer out any colds or bugs you may have.
Oh, cos. A whole quart?
yeah and now my stomach is mad at me
ah, Frank is eating sushi with ginger and wasabi now
cos, that would be too sweet for me. Personally I have a cheese tooth rather than a sweet tooth
yeah its sweet.. i have a dental appointment monday .. i just remembered right now lol
I couldn't eat that much sweets if I wanted to! (I'd eat a whole bowl of mashed potatoes though if I had a chance!)
ty for clues, i wandered off
LOL! You'll give the dentist something to work on I guess
been YEARS :( ive been lacking but im only going for a check up.. nothing is hurting or anything
mmmm, choclit, cheese, peanuts, potatoes... only missing cashews

I haven't listed yet so I don't know if it's the correct pr5 and 6 but I have a pr6 that's a combo - you pr* *** your DVR
pr6/21 to program your TV ahead of time. Take the last letter off for the 5
and the pr5 before it just drops the last consonant
jinks, molly
pi 6/21 - the solid cylindrical object that goes up and down in an engine... and pl .. then take off the last letter of the pi 6/21 for another word
You owe me a beer
I do have those Pis, kate (Pees?)
;)
lol... thank you both so much!... i will throw in the towel and help if i can - still missing some pi words though
sorry. missing pe words... not pi's
of course you have the babbler, and pl
the pe - nut and pl

i have to go, sorry! see you monday!
howdy again everyone.back for a few more,i hope:))
hi crossy!
do you have the lower left r?
to get up again, sue
ha, just got it.
:)
thanks, mael! It's been bothering me all day.
yw, it was a tricky one because it's so simple!
suze!!
ok, now I need the 11 for nbs :-P
keep at it and you'll get it, sue ;)
and I don't think that one's going to pop out at me quite so quickly
ah, that was the hint I needed! :-)
:)
that also helped with that bottom p, which was puzzling me
ok. I am off for a bit, bbl
bye sue :)
hi all, back to find 60 words, may have to list soon
still missing 9 of those P's
hi again, peri. I'm missing 12 P words yet.
FINISHED!! VERY EXCELLENT!!
I'm definitely not loving P words today.
YAY, godthaab!!! WTG!!!
Nice job Godth
Thanks!
stuck again with 50 left
it may be time to list, peri. this is a dickens of a grid.
there are so many strange words here and so many similar words (I've confused the pe, pi, and pr words all day) that it decreases your frustration level just to see what you are missing
hi again all!
hi sue. You sure are popping in and out fast today, sue
was going to go over to the new house and pick up mail but first I made Frank take his temperature - 101.5F. So now we are waiting for a call back from his oncologist about what to do next (he already had some extra antibiotics)
it's been a complicated day, nef :-)
is he coughing up anything?
a little bit of phlegm, he says
I would be a lot less worried if he weren't in the middle of chemotherapy :-(
hmmm. I typed in some dumb things (considering he's on chemo) so I don't know what else they'll do.
Sending healing thoughts and prayers his way, sue.
can he take tylenol for his temp?
just talked to the doctor, he wants us to go to the emergency room
*sigh*
Frank is not a happy camper
anyway we are off, as soon as I can get him to move
Sending good vibes your way Sue.
Tell him the sooner he moves, the better he'll feel.
they will probably do cultures on him; then find out what antibiotic will work best.
he has to go. chemo makes the mundane emergency
Hello everyone :)
it really does, TO
Hi smores
well do i know from personal experience
(((TO))) I didn't know that. How far out are you?
my niece is walking tonight in acs relay for life. no nef, not me, someone in my care
Whew! Good to know! There are quite a number of Babblers that are cancer survivors though.
she is walking in honor of my mother. it is so bitter cold tonight, i hope she bundles up.

congrats
I'm still not well; but "we" are going out for a romantic supper I guess
Congratulations Nef. What are you doing to celebrate?
Ah, very nice.
38 years of marriage, Molly. :-)
Oh, my, 38 years.....congratulations are in order.
No, I said what are you DOING to celebrate.
we married in our late 20's, didn't have kids til I was over 30. We wre late bloomers. But it's worked this long -- so far. ;-)
we are just going to a nice supper club near us. We've been there once before (it's kind of expensive I think). But he's feeling better so we are going out.
pe6/7 pls?
Have a wonderful evening, Nef.
We're supposed to go in 45 minutes; he's already dressed! (I think he's excited!) Maybe I should go get ready too.
Thanks, peach
how cute
Just got the 9!!!!!!
I'm off for a bit now. TO, I've been looking for that pe 6,7 combo for a while and I can't find it either
BBL

Hi again all, we are at the hospital getting Frank's fever checked out
Poor Sue, not such a hot date spot for a Friday night. : )
Frank is not at all happy. He hates the hospital.
I'm not exactly in love with it myself...
I don't blame him. So do I.
hi. sorry to hear you are at the hospital, uusue2
Hi teejay, it is a drag but we need to be cautious
oh. i shall think some happy thoughts for you two.
Thank you! Happy thoughts are always warmly accepted.
definitely - thoughts & prayers with you and Frank uu
Thanks, Dan!
hi all. i apologize but i asked for clues for the 9 and 11 and then had to run. does anyone have clues now for those words? ty.,
Pr 9 is most accurate
Pe 11 is stubbornness
got the 9 ty. uusue
got the 11 too. ty. super clues.
Yw :-)
any clues for some 8s?
just got two 8s from the pr word.
eons
oops so sorry off to pb.
Don't worry, I already had that one :-)
ok.
how about the other two 8s. are ythey all pr words?
or the x word. do you have it sue?
xe5/22
T's toasted
yeah dan. i have a dozen to go yet.
i got the xc word. ty dan.
any clues for the other two 8 letter words? i have two pr 8s
<---ready for a weekend
those are my 2 also mkg
i just got all three o words. whew. need so manyt more s words. and t words. ugh
another one of the 8s is kind of close to the wine one. it's a plural. don't have the 4th.
it's a de- word
what wine one? huh?
sorry. i'm bad at clues. it's de + rare + plural
Here's hopping you have a good weekend Ru.
dan, where do you live in DC area? i am living in potomac
Your clue was fine Tee Jay.
VA side, near Falls Church
rare??????????? as in what? seldom seen? or what?
cied
ok. i am in md.
<---cluing savant
....darling too
i guess i dont know of a wine clue. so lets go back to that. also dont get rare clue. darn.
Who cares about Raymond? Everybody loves Ruru.
hmm. perhaps inadequate. not a lot.
** finito ** last word TE 7/28
de6/7 to open a bottle of wine & pl
the wine one is a 6/7 from the de- you have to do it before you drink it. in theory. unless it's boxed.
<---i'm an excellent driver
Sorry, was talking to nurses.
ok so something you do to wine like de cork it but cork not in grid.
Not a wino, but I think the de word is pouring, not opening.
so i have the de but that is all.
i've always found bunny rabbits to be the best drivers.
De7/8 is a high soprano line above the melody.
chill not in grid. shake not in grid. darn.
that would be deboxed then
mkg, call if your **** make it work
De + I **** think of a better clue
huh? i guess i just am too confused by all the clues. de...i dont know musical line.
Deunscrewed!
i have done that a few times. it works.
well i dont do much to wine other than chill, uncork, pour and drink. i just dont get the clue.\
No wonder I don't care for wine. I've never shaken it before pouring. : D
This is what you do with a fancy wine to let it breathe before you drink it, you de**** it into another container
the worst is when the cork gets stuck and you have to shove it back down into the bottle. makes for chunky wine.
i thought it was de 8. now i see it is six seven. i have that one!!!!!i have both of them. opposite of able is this word. de and then that word and plural. sorry. i thought it was an 8
Sue, are they keeping Frank in?
no, but one of the 8s is very close to that word. someone gave a definition below. and, there is another one. can't find it myself.
Put a consonant after the de and get two more words, mkg
wasnt there a de 8 word being clued???????????? de rare and plural? and i didnt ge t the rare. and i thought the wine was same word. oh so confused.
ok back to the eight: de then rare. that is what i am stuck on.
Dunno yet, chrissie, they are doing all kinds of cultures to figure out what is going on
d + ***cape From Alcatraz + picnic pest
The 8 is the plural of a 7, mkg, add a letter to the de6 you already have
Hope they don't stop his chemo. Hugs to you both Sue.
Oh gosh, I hope not too, chrissie!
i know es and the alcatraz but not something with three letters first..............
i got that de and i thank you. good clue molly
That's why I wanted to get him in here as soon as it was clear he was sick
well one more 8 to go. ty for super clues all.
any clues for the e in right column? missing three of those. have only a 4 that is a plural for forever.
The other 8 is a de too but I don't have it
De8/45
any one have the last 8???????????
et4 volcano
En5/12 and plural from that e, mkg, en + movie ***or
Don't have the last 8, ythough

Or gal, ***ress
Ah, good.
good clues ty.
de6/7/8/7 to want something (or someone!)
Ah, I had everything but the 8. Thanks!
got them all chrissie. super. ty. all eights grey now
i have five i words and all are fours. clues for others?
oops i see i do have one i six, plural for flowers.
Plural flowers
Is5, Japanese immigrants
Anyway it will be an hour before we get any results so we are waiting....
Handy you can access babble to pass the time
Yes, they have wifi throughout the hospital
Also handy its a big grid
Also even the emergency room bays are private rooms, which is very nice
That is good
Wow, never seen a hospital with private rooms in the emergency room.
Me either! New hospital in town, all the inpatient rooms are private too
That is nice. I have always thought it was cruel to make a sick person share a room with a stranger.
My experience here is that wards are a mix of patients with mental and medical problems and the staff are cut back to breaking point levels. They can't give each patient with special needs the care they need.
May I please have a clue for de7-36the 1st one? Thanks
Sorry, mimi rant
Its the plural of pouring wine peach
Seems to be a slow night here tonight, which is good for us
Sorry, my bad, should be the 2nd. Thanks
Ah, sounds like we might be able to go home tonight!
Indent, push down, low spirits
That's good sue
They can't find anything wrong, and ruled out a bunch of stuff
That was meant to be multiple clues peach, not another rant ;)
Thanks so much, Dee.
yvw
Ok, Frank has the flu.
Not good
Not while his immune system is compromised
Just had a call from KY.....friend's husband is in ICU right now with pneumonia in both lungs and a temp of 104.....asking for prayers.....please...his first name is Billy. Thanks y'all.
Will do peach
Well, better than a lot of other things it could have been, and they know how to handle it.
Peach, sending love and light to your friend and her husband.
wouldn't that make the phone hard to hang onto peach?
but pneumonia is no laughing matter
had it .. it's horrible
He is in bad shape, ruru. Had surgery to remove part of one lung...last month. I don't know if he wants to recover but we pray for his highest good.
Thanks sue.
ugh.. did he catch pneumonia at the hospital?
I believe he got after he was discharged last month. He did not take good care of himself and none of his children helped. That just frosts my cup cakes.
that's really nuts.
lung surgery is really sensitive
last de6-21 please.....thanks
de + not brother
Thanks much, Dee.
Billy will be in my prayers
Yes, it is, ruru. He bailed his children out of so many things and now that he needs someone.....makes me irate.
Thank you so much, mamcitadbh.
yes.. i get that peach
Hello all...
Hello again. Peach; so sorry to read about your friend. Sending healing thoughts and prayers his way now.
hiya jilly
hi jilly.
Hi nef and ruru
And sue; sending healing thoughts and prayers to Frank also.
Thanks so much, Nef.
and hi ruru (would never mean to forget you!)
hi babblers
She just posted on caring bridge that Frank has the flu but is being treated for secondary pneumonia; expecting to be able to come home tonight.
hello welki
hi welki.
thanks Jilly. she was just here (but I may have missed her too)
Thanks for the update Jilly
Hi nef, Jill, and all, I am here and there :-)
Were your ears burning sue
Are you and Frank home?
Frank doesn't actually have pneumonia, but they want to be sure he doesn't get it so are being careful
No, still at the ER, Jill, but they are getting ready to discharge him
Yay!!
No one forgets Ru. He's the Darling Of Babble. : D
Oftentimes it's better for someone with a compromised immune system to not be in the hospital; too many "new" bugs there.
Chrissie, you get your turn to rant. Everyone else here takes one. : D
nbt/nbs...sheesh...131 to go....
reading back - been a helluva week for babblers :(
Yay, finished. It's 2.11 am here so not going to offer to clue, would fudge it. Take care all, see you tomorrow.
I know...makes me very sad...glad Frank will get better...sure wish there was something we could do for stiddy...
g'night chrissie
WooT Woot WooT Chrissie!!
Congrats, Chrissie.
i think we all know someone who's been through that - horrible, no matter how much insurance you have. can't replace memories. did she say how the fire started?
i've worked long hours all week - haven't kept up with babble-news, here or on FB
hi everyone!
hey dawg
Hi dawg...how are you and how is your weather up there?
hiya, welki! hiya Jilly! got some snow little more than a dusting.
Went to Missoula again today, but we ate an early dinner and got out of town well before dark...litely snowing here
And colder than....*fill in the blank*
probably coming down from my way - edmonton had a horrible storm yesterday - white out, caused a 100+ car pile-up
these last storms have skirted the flathead. haven't had much precip in a while
Ouch...
Was snowing to beat the band in Missoula late this afternoon
yikes! i'd like to get a last heavy storm before all the plants decide to grow.
the rcmp commandeered a two or three charter buses and set them up as triage units
sure hope everyone came out of that wreck okay.
Things are definitly budding out here...
dozens of injuries, only one in serious condition
i have patches of green in my yard. some green things coming up in the side garden, no clue what they are.
one serious condition out of all that...not bad odds.
hehehe - the things that are poking out of the snow in my yard are brown.
How awful welki, remember well the huge pileup accidents in the valley between San fransisco and Sacarmento with the fog...truely horrific
i don't like this time of year. it smells like pooh and the grey skies don't help the attitude.
yep, i remember, jilly
Rule of the evening..when in doubt..plural it...
Arizona had a terrible haboob that caused a major pile up for miles on the interstate. that was really bad.
Well, halfway, breaka time...bbs...
fog, snow, rain, dust - all bad when driving
good times to be hunkered down and off the roads
Hello everyone...90 left
may i please have a clue for the second de7/36 and the first te6?
(and with any luck, i can plural them and call it quits for the night)
de+another word for ironing
(got the te6)
I don't have the te6
lol
ooops - i guess it's the 3rd de7 (do you want a clue for the te6?)
looking....
push the button...de7.36
and yes please ":)
de+ bare as in barely dressed
te6 = not nine, but *** + high card in the deck

i promise not to wander off.
Hi dawg :)

hi smores. yes i finished this morning
WTG!!

Yay, lbd!!! You go Girl!
ty. my brain and monkeys worked well together this am. not always the case.
could use a clue for the last pr 7
past tense the pr5.12
ah...thank you
yw
Can I get a clue for the third pr 6/21?
I've worked on this grid off and on all day. Now I'm tucked in bed and need sleep desperately; but am trying to finish this grid and am determined to do it.
go Nef go :)
pl the pr5.12
you can do it, Nef!
pr11.104 will get you through!
thanks. I wish I felt that way myself.
one or two more clues then i'm heading for my pillows
thanks!
i have 5 left...*sigh*
use morewords, penquis. it may save your sanity.
and i'm off to dreamland. see you all tomorrow! sleep well, my friends.
goodnight
you still here, nef?
good night, lbd. Sleep well
yes. pen; what do you need?
i need pr 5/12....the first one
someone who is too nosy, related to the 5/14 directly before it
is that the first pr 5/14? I have the word you clued already...
i meant the first 5/12
hang on; I'll look again. (I have a cold; maybe looked wrong
YAY!! Reservations attained in April for a trip to Chico Hot Springs resort!! BOOM!!

I promised hubby this trip!
you can have my cold; then I could think straight. ;-)
Do it while you both can still enjoy it.
lol...
i also need se 5/14....

Hi ya nrkii!

nrkii, think it is to get up again
nrkii; tell us about the job!
thanks jilly!
and Nef!
how about te 7/28 and the xe word? my last two!
Job?? Job?? *excited*
R's removed :)
I'm so excited about the job. It's in consulting, which is a welcome move from pure market research. Lots of new things to learn. Intense work environment. Bad commute, but only have to be in the office 3 days a week.
And working for people I've worked for in the past (10 years ago) so I know how they are to work for.
x+ boys name
thanks!
Hi nrkll .... congrats
WTG nrkii!! Sounds great and a challenge for you
that sounds challenging, nrkii. You sound excited (I always liked a challenge myself)
And I'll be paid decently, which will be a pleasant change after 4 years of scraping by.
got it...done!
thanks for the help, nef!
WTG!! penquis :)
The trick will be to have the discipline this time to sock away more rainy day money.
way to go penquis!
how bad is the commute?
45 miles each way
an hour
yucky
nrkii; I could retire because I separated "Needs" from "wants" and we only get the stuff we need. It's made it really simple to live on a lwer income (and put money away too)
do you have to drive or is there mass transit?
That is a rough commute..however if you only have to go in 3days a week its not bad
yes, I've never been that good about that needs vs. wants thing
have to drive it... the trains go there, but no good connections
I might be able to carpool. Maybe. But I hate carpooling. Would consider doing it 1 day a week.
try it. You might find it easy once you make a game of it. (We have fun with it; esp. DH when he wants a new kitchen toy)
hey; 1 day/week car pooling would save you that day of driving
stats for the 9 please?
pr9/66
got it, thank you
I had the -er but not the -est
okay, I think it's time for me to go to bed... 34 left, but I feel good about what I got done in this grid
that's a 7,8,8,9 combo
thank you for the help!
nighters; and good luck with the job!
dear lord....the p's are overwhlming..
thanks! happy babbling!
Niters nrkii, sweet sleeps!
Nite nrkii :)

T's terminated!!! Finished :)
Fun grid today :)
WooT WooT WooT smores!! 30 left here
YAY, smores!!!! WTG!!!
ty,ty

Almost midnight here, guess I should get ready for bed...any clues wanted before I go?
Yes, waaay too many P's, but still a nice grid
oh, probably...the minute you leave...LOL...pretty easy grid...lots of pl
So thank you, but you can head out to pillows smores..
hey all
(((stid))) Hi, How are you?
Hi stid :)
How are you doing?
((((stiddy))))...so good to see you!
doing okay. just got in from a dinner of curry :-) Tom is taking really good care of me
how are you-all? I hear some parts of the country are getting (more) snow (again)...
I'm so sorry, stid.
Fine here, just cold
We all are sorry stid...what an awful thing to go through...((hugs)))
me too, nef.
It is pretty four-letter-word-like, for sure
So sorry to hear about your house and pets {{stid}}
It has been chilly here, and little light flurries of snow. More than we saw in January or February!
Just thankful you all are okay
I know, I feel bad for all the plants that thought spring had come...
((stid)) I am so sorry! My heart goes out to you and your family.
I feel so bad about Lucky and the budgies, Have they found out what happened yet?
The only thing that makes me really sad is Lucky and the birds. The rest makes me unhappy, but honestly, Grant is okay. He could so easily have been not-okay that I don't even really take time for anything else. My son is alive.
We think it was an electrical fault in an appliance, Nef. They are giving the company that manufactured it time to inspect the property and attempt to refute the claim.
And that is the important thing
Yes, Nef. that IS the most important thing.
So glad to hear he is handling it well.
stid, Consumer Reports said that a lot of companies that get complaints about appliances catching fire come and get the appliance and then you lose the evidence of the cause of the fire. Be aware of that and don't let anyone take them
So is your insurance company providing you with funds while you wait.
I managed to buy a couple of flashlights today, and will go into my room and the closet to try to locate a few items that are really precious (baby clothes made for my mother, for example; and things made by my grandmothers for me and our boys). And then maybe haul out a few of my books to see if I can get them usable.
That's terrible Nef
Yes, Nef, thanks -- the fire inspector has already been in and has taken photos. I confirmed that he had found a reasonably similar appliance at a store that I probably purchased it at. But it's hard when your records are in the building that burned. I don't know which room they were in, or if they are readable. So we'll see. It will all get sorted out in the end.
Sadly not surprised at that nef...crappy world we live in...
Because the house is a total loss, it is handled differently from a simple appliance fire scorching a wall.
I'm sorry I don't know which month it was in; but it's written in the past year.
Stiddy, I do have some extra winter things that my boys left here. And lots of sweatshirts etc...let me know, I could ship them out...
please, if there is anything we can do for you, let us know. Just ask.
So is your insurance handling it as an emergency claim since it is a total loss?
Have extra winter coats specifically
Thanks Jilly -- I am going to wait until I have a place to put things before asking; but I will definitely let you know when we get to that point. Matthew had his most important clothes and winter things where he lives now, so the things in his closet at home are going to be missed, but not urgently.
Yes, smores -- housing, emergency funds up-front to replace work and school clothes and get a few necessities to cook and eat in the hotel (which has a kitchenette).
I would like to help also. Please let us know when and where.
And now we start cataloging the losses (actually, they do that and we look over their lists), and then talking about what things are worth and whether they pay all of the maximum or less. We lost so much that I am pretty sure we will get every penny we were insured for.
Nonnie, I will let everyone know as soon as I figure out what we need.
That's great stid, I've known of some that do that and others that have had to wait way too long.
Today I was in a store and saw an apron on a mannikin in the kitchen aisle and realized all my aprons are also gone. There's a lot to remember.
I hope you were insured for replacement cost; not just the value of things. It costs a whole lot more to replace a house today than when it was built
I can imagine....
I am sorry that you have to go through this but thankful you and your family are ok. I'm heading to bed now. But please know that I will keep you and yours in my prayers.
yes net, replacement cost. FULL replacement cost on the house, and a rider to cover necessary upgrades to meet code when necessary.
sweet dreams, nonnie, I am so happy I got to see you this evening!
Wonderful, stid! What a releif that must be!
Good night nonnie :)
that's good stid...I hope you are able to locate and salvage some of your sentimentel items
I am already looking at house plans to try to narrow down style and square footage and such. I don't need a huge house, just room for my books, my art, my darling Tom and his books and computers, and a space to cook in. I think after this, I won't ever want to eat out again...
It must hurt to see something you built go up in smoke though. Will you rebuild on the same site?
I will have a couple of guest rooms, but we are so close to being "empty nesters" that actually planning for kids who live there full-time isn't necessary. That opens up a lot of possibilities.
I must get to bed...so glad to "see" you stid...will keep you in prayer that the transition goes quickly and smoothly for you.
sweet dreams, smores. (((hugs)))
Good night all :)
Niters smores...sweet sleeps!

yes, that is my home, Nef -- the land more than the building! My plants are there, and the memories (bad as well as good, memories are what create the people we are), and though it's a longer drive for Tom than he would prefer many days it's not onerous.

anyway... I am falling asleep here at the keyboard (as usual). Going to enjoy a nice soak in the tub and then sleep. I went out to the school and grabbed the materials the substitutes left for me to see, and will plan next week's lessons over the weekend. This was my first time leaving things for subs... now I get to see how it feels from the regular teacher's side! LOL It's going to be interesting.
