as a musician, i can attest that there's nothing wrong with having a swing. it is an amazing confidence builder and skin thickener. it takes courage to share one's efforts and vulnerability in public. musicians learn about people and situations from a unique vantage point. every gig is an exercise in problem solving. only a small fraction of players ever "make it" but every player's life is enriched by the pursuit.
