Hi Andree
hi all
nice and quiet in here...
hello
hi
insomniac fireworks here!
hello all. back after our 4 day break at Lorne. as MM said this morning " what? blue skies and sunshine AGAIN!
hi rose, very quiet here
was your little break nive?
sure is, andree. everyone must be bbling furiously
andree, drove through to port campbell, did all the touristy things there and back. loch ard gorge and the razorback were awesome.
sounds great rose

morning all
Hi Andree, Rose & Sprite!
hi sprite and lynxxx
Rose, were you going to Fiji?
Morning all....
morning Flask
hi Flask
Hey Sprite......long time no see!
you too lynxxx
silly bugs making a pest of themselves. On the mend now.
Good to hear!
You have been busy Flask?
hi flask
lyn, that was last july. next july, we're off on a cruise of the pacific
have you been sick sprite
hey spritey
Rose, oh good..I was thinking of you with all their troubles
yes, managed to lure another flu :(
oh, sprite, not good. didn't you have your flu vax?
yes I did.
Sorry Lynxxx....yes I have just moved house...at long last!!
just think how bad it might have been without.
gratz Flask
lol rose, indeed!
due for mine now, plus pneumovax this year. that one smarts!!!!
Sprite. I have converted! As you know I have had a heavy cold for the last 4 weeks. Yesterday I bought an over-the-counter Homeopathic Head Cold tiny tiny tablets...with amazingly fast results. Perhaps you could look out for similar remedies, the flu seems to get you regukarly
ouch... but better than the alternative, right rose?
i have never had the flu vaccine even though i am told those of my age should
you're not kidding. last time i was hospitalised over christmas. not going there again. there are only sick people there, you know!
remind me Flask...where from and where to? I do rememeber you talking about moving quite a while ago wasn't iut?
that is a good idea, lyn, I will check. I remember a homeopathic alternative for antibiotics, which took care of a constant cough the regular meds didn't work for. Thanks.
better a short smart than that again, rose. You don't belong amidst sick people ;)
hey all
and there's a brilliant chesty cough syrup, all natural, called Prospan. have had mother mac on it... it's done wonders
hi Bfsog
are you usually healthy, Andree?
hi bfsog
lol, sprite, my hubby would argue that point!
hey bfs
how is babbleland
silly hubby!
noted - thanks Rose
always sprite, have the occaisonal cold, never had an operation or a broken bone etc, i am very lucky
mine is delightful, bsfog, fun grid and good company. How's yours?
thanks rose, wrote it down.
not too bad, bks. not too many zany words tonite
hi bfsog
that is wonderful, Andree! I used to be quite strong, but now things are different. Very lousy resistance to bugs and viruses, so I am sick way too often. Am hoping for a great summer!
Good morning everyone.
morning elder!
hello Elder!
@sprite im good ta, just started the grid
lyn and sprite, it's the natural alternative to ' bisolvon', but seems to work heaps better. has vit B6 among other things. from memory B6 is for healthy mucosal tissue.
Sprite :) long time no see. Sorry to read you have been poorly, but glad to hear your feeling better.
great, bfsog. Enjoy!
hi elder
yes, nothing serious here. How's the back?
you need to look after yourself and build up your resistance
Sprite the weather here has been wonderful. Is Holland receiving similar days.
oh yes, lots of sun, not too much rain and quite good temps here. I am outside a lot with Terra.
how is terra
that h looks tricky
Sprite, am off for a few days had more back injections, so for a few days feeling like I have trampled and kicked by a cart horse.:) but doing good, thank you. How is the new puppy coming along, keeping you busy:)
nah that H is easy once you realise where to go with it.
Terra is doing brilliantly. Sweet, playful and smart. One happy little dog!
h done, lol
I hope the injections will do the trick, elder
The H was one of the first words I put in.
wtg bfsog!
Thanks Sprite am sure they will for about 3 months bliss, I will be able to stand and walk much easier.
good! Keep taking care of yourself, ok?
and you .:)
I will :)
the du/6 is something I rarely use. He he..
lol me neither
de/6-21 sums it up and keep going for the 8.
lol I am so happy I found de6/30 - 7/44. Very Sherlocky words.

Hello Gort. sorry not yet.

ah found it, thanks, and me neither. I remember The Far Pavillions!
I don't have any gs

gr + that thing we don't wanna do ever, change last letter into a consonant
oh and drop the first letter, of course
Stew's talking to me, think he needs a walk. BBS
enjoy lyn!
wow, that looks German. must look that one up
ty Sprite
g's done
ty sprite
means wept or lamented, archaic scottish
found it because it is a dutch word to me. Meaning a kind of grainy breakfast/dessert. Served with melasses, usually. Quite oldfashioned.
I don't think I would have found that without a clue
lol, I'm positive I wouldn't have found it
merriam-webster says it is the past particle of 'to say hello'.
well me too really lol
scots past particle, wiktionary says the same.
well better go do something...may even have to d*** if I can find a d*****. I d***** it lol
as varina said
then you are a d8, Kallia!
:)
indeed Sprite :)
bye all later maybe
that makes 3 of us then
bye kallia
bye Kallia, good luck with the chore
four, actually
silly domestical task that are never ever done
why bother, is my philosophy
to keep it from really collecting?
see, if you let it really collect, then when you du4, you feel like you've actually accomplished something...
ah, yes. I feel that way about washing windows.
I used to like cleaning windows.
right. We got new windows last fall, and I'm actually looking forward to them getting dirty enough to bother washing. They're the nice tilt-in ones.
same here. Especially on a nice day. When the water turns black and the windows are like a mirror. For a few hours.
lol. until they are again covered with dust, fingerprints, nose prints (cat), etc
exactly. Or even worse: by some incontinent bird.
lol.
Good Day Babblers! How is everyone?
oops pb for fuq
anyone have all the left column Cs? I'm missing one and would love to know what to look for
Sprite how are your family?
iwis, sorry for slip

Bye Haz, may see you later.
bbbye haz bon appetite
bye haz, ty
appetit
you better not get any of those fixins in my water
todays omelette is a 3 egg, smoked ham and sharp cheddar omelette with diced yellow pepper:)
yum
Sounds nice Cross. But I will pass on the ham.
mmmmmmmm all i had was roast beef salad with no peppers cos the little un doesn't like them
mind you i did make a nice fruit salad too
i can always substitute mushrooms
Cross that will would good . Thank you.
is it the meat elder?
or are you a vegitarien
or the pork?
laughs
elder is vegetarian
Oodle yes. I have been a vegetarian for years but I do miss meats.
but she would love my meatballs if she wasn't
ahh ok then for elder....
ok
did you go veggie for health reasons?
I make killer itialian meataballs
my friend found she just couldn't stomach meat any more, even just the thought of it made her feel ill
a nice 3 egg..mushroom ,green pepper and spanish onion omelette with a hint of chives
with the sauce to go along with it... but some times I am too lazy and I buy sauce at the store... you can't get very good sauces in jars here
Jacq, many years ago. It was to do with the way animals were kept and treated and all the anti bodies that were being pumped into them.
nods, i agree, when my girls were old enough i spoke to them about animal care etc, just so they were fully informed about what was on their plate
I loved meat and think at some pint I will return to eat it .Mind you its been nearly thirty years.
well there is free range chickens and unadulterated beef out there
you'd have to take it very very slowly elder
I eat fish at times as I Know I can catch, hit on head and fillet.
i buy all my meat(and egg) from a local farm up the highway a bit.they raise thier own in small lots and they are all free range and organic
ok I have bee staring at this grid for about 10 minutes now and don't see um ... well you know feces
no chickens in little boxes with thier feet cut off so as to get fat:(
best way to eat them elder
That is impressive Cross. As good animal welfare makes for better eating .
you can go and see you dinner in motion and tour the barns:)
Cross LOL.
oh that infuriates me cross... and so what if they are only for food... don't have to torture them... boy if they could talk...
hee ehe hee cross
lol oodles,they are not tortured
better than the mass production lines
I laughed at imagining Cross seeking his next meal - not the chicken torture.
I didn't say they were... the ones that are though... in little boxes with their feet cut off
THAT'S torture
funny though its strange when you actually know the nakme of the pork chop thats on yer plate
good morning babblers :)
damn makes me sick just thinking about it
morning nono
Crossy did you get the link from Temple Owl yesterday?
no i did not nono
hello nanette
hi nono
Another issue that makes me really cross, is animals travelling for miles across countries to be slaughtered on arrival.
it was about bacon let me see if i can find it for you
sadly ive seen it oodles hence the reason i go to this free range organic farm
hello Nono.
i agree elder, we even ship them abroad here
horrifying
we have what we call "100 mile" stores now.any and all prdice they sell has to be made sold and shipped from within a circle no larger than 100 miles
i tell you it makes a heck of a difference in the fresh veggies
well I hope this world gets green and organic so nothing suffers...eutopian idea for a world filled with people who don't give a rats butt about the enviornment.... just their presious wallet
Recenlty read that the debate about TB being passed to cows is on the agenda again. The badger viewed as the culprit.
Oodle the problem is that we have gotten used to paying cheap prices for food.
Cross. that used to happen years ago and it worked fine then.
what the 100 mmile stores elder?
not everyone can afford good organic produce, i remember my daughter having to have organic produce, it cost the earth, and that was just for her, imagine feeding a family of 4 on that
or just buying it right from the back of the farmers truck in the driveway?
at that time it was £10 for a chicken that wasn't even 3lbs in wieght
ouch
but if we are green in other places we will have enough money to pay for the organic stuff and also the organic stuff will start coming down in price cause there is a bigger market for it...
Jacq, that why it helps the family budget if one can grow stuff yourself in the garden or pots.
nods our weekly income then was £140
we are making a pot garden this year,some tomatos,green beans,snap peas :)
elder i hadn't the time or energy, i was caring for both girls, in wheelchairs, and doing everything for them
kewel cross
its amazing what you can grow on a apt terrace:)
it is cheaper now, and should get even cheaper in future
I think sometimes organic food is priced too much. particularly veg.
that's partly because of the restrictions and standards for the soil they are grown on, it takes a lot for a farm to become organic
well it is more here... the regular supermarkets or getting into the organic produce and I think they should also get into organic meats too
jacq, it was general thought not aimed at you. My goodness you must have times been exhausted. Love and care --you still get tired.
nods
we have five 10 inch around planters and we use them:) at seasons end we dump the old soil in the flower garden outside the building and start with fresh every year;))
5 years to prove organic ground here.
cross? do you have metro there??
Of course all this home ground stuff is causing problems with the peat bogs.
yes we do its our fav store actually
lol we dont have peat bogs elder;)
oodle are you a vegetarian ?.
gtg tc all and see yous all later
poof!
ok I thnk if I am not mistaken they have organic produce... no I am a carnivor/herbivor
Bye Cross.
what is the word for being both?
omnivore
you'll eat anything
suddet
oops
oodle they do but its more expensive - no surprise there.
no I meant metro
Jacq, the rule states clearly if you are going to post words they have to be in the grid. :).
ar eyou in the UK or canada elder?
laughs, i did that earlier, loads of times
oodle Uk- England
can anyone help with the re6/21's and the su6/21, the last one
ok but you have metro?
oodle Not that I am aware of is it a large supermarket ?.
I was referring to metro where crossy lives having organic produce
Oodle, organic food can be purchased here in most shops and supermarkets.

House work should always be avoided as far as is possible. Just do enough to keep the hygiene people away.

congrats Elder, have a great day
Thanks Nono. you too. Byee
here i am with my Shakespeare tribute!
(don't every body compliment me at once....)
Very poetic, Harpjane. Star-crossed Peeps. Sorrow!
my only regret is that i'm not the one who thought of it!
Am I the only one that thinks Shakespeare was an over-rated hack?
Yes
read some of the Thursday Next books, for a fun look at shakespeare among other things
Shakespeare and fun really never went together for me.
I studied Shakespeare in college asnd have been smitten ever since
me either
what are the stats on the H, and the second row E, please?
Both hy's, Harp. A four and a six.
es5/10 and ec4/6 for the E
embarassing when a church musician can't get the hy4!
some would say i have that problem every Sunday!
top fourth column E state please? for nbt
how many words please?
ed5/16 and pl
126
good morning, babble friends! 126 words today, and the top 4th column E is a 0/4 harp
thanks pab
and, for the record, I LOVE Shakespeare!
thanks trif too
yw arms
morning Trif!
thanks nbt now, which means i can legally look at the list....
Well, call me crazy then. I also don't like Elvis, Bruce Springstein, or Ernest Hemingway.
i don't have the attention span for reading Shakespeare but I love to watch the plays....
Plays are always more interesting when performed. Midsummer's Night Dream was about the only bearable one that I can recall.
that is the only one i have seen done by professionals
have seen others done by schools or local groups
good morning everyon
good morning Flosey
**everyone
Hiya, Flosey!

only a couple of screwy words
gotta run now, happy babbling everyone
Bye, Nono. HAGD.
bye nono, have a great one
I'm rethinking playing babble while babysitting three 3yo's...
Just lock them in the closet, Magyk.
lol Judi, but are you too tired by the time they go to bed Magy?
will that work on 13 year olds, as well???
lol mom, a time you'd sometimes like to lock them up!
Nah. 13 yo's you have to lock in the basement.
UGH... its just a ridiculous age.
LOL Judi
were we not once all children too?
How about yesterday's article about the mom that dropped made her squabbling daughters get out of the car, and then she drove off without them!
It really is a shame that their attitudes so stink, as they are finally at an age where they can be semi-productive around the house... can anyone say Cinderella???
oh my Judi, didn't see that! hope they weren't too far from home
sorry had to put one in time out. they are my sister's triplet boys. and they are kind of cranky right now!
OMG... I live near there and it was on our news on Tuesday... frankly I was like...hmmm, yeah.. I understand.
She probably should not have gotten home and reported her missing... I love how the 12 year old caught up to the car and she let her back in.
could I please have a clue for last su6?
Sounds a bit extreme. I don't think they were very far from home, but the 8 year old was traumatized. Understandably so. Mom really wigged out on that one.
Of course one of the strangest things is that the 10 year old was "picked up" by a good samaritan and brought to the local PD... I would kill my kid if she got into a car with a stranger.
su 6 -- double consonant in the middle; double vowel at the end
It was reported here that they were 10 and 12... so you are talking about 5th and 7th graders...
The whole thing had the potential to go very bad. Some family counseling needed there.
thanks BR
My mom used to threaten my sisters and I all the time with leaving us. Honestly though, being a teacher and in the schools I've noticed that some kids just don't care anymore...
it's funny in a way... think how much things have changed... I can completely hear my dad telling a story about his parents doing something like that and everyother parent of that era would have said the kid deserved it... now we are aghast
OMG I agree Judi... but let me ask you... hasn't it ever occurred to you even once??? LOL.
my mom did the same Magy - she'd put her coat on and say she was leaving us - we were quite young and would cling to her! a very bad thing to do to little ones
I think my Dad actually did it to my sister and I... obviously I was not that traumatized by it.
NOT that I think it was a smart thing to do, it is just interesting how things have changed
I don't have kids, but I have been in cars with unruly kids, so I understand the mom's compulsion. To her credit, she did pull over and stop, rather than just punching the "eject" button.
I was never left anywhere on purpose, but I was forgotten
OMG... my grandmother lived downstairs so my mother would actually leave!!!
Well Flosey, we were old enough to know better honestly...
Oh no, kje! How old were you?
KJE... I am the oldest so never forgotten, but my youngest sister has some stories.
ah, we might have been preschool,
like 4th or 5th grade... they remembered about half way down the street (after church one night)... that is what happens when you have 7 kids - LOL
I distinctly remember forgetting my sister at a farm... then my father started counting when we were in the car...
And of course we all felt terrible because no one else noticed she was not there either.
honestly - wasn't all that traumatized... was scared at first when you realize you are left, and then you kind of figure they'll show up again - LOL
Poor little thing.
Never was forgotten by parents. Although, I probably would have thought it an adventure if I had been. "Just go to gramma's" was my motto.
In any case we will see what happens... they always say don't threaten your children if you are not going to follow through... props to her for following through... LOL!
She will probably get off if she agrees to counseling, which will probably be a good thing... I think she just came to the end of her rope.
my dad use to make my brother get out of the car and run the last few blocks home when he was too wound up - it was kind of a game
Honestly she must be kind of humiliated in the sense that the kids really, in the end, got the best of her.
granted... they never threatened to desert us
I think parents need to have more discipline but now a days it's almost considered child abuse....
Yes. I can't see them charging her with anything. I'm sure the kids were really scared when the cops got involved.
My daughter actually gets po'd when she cannot get the rise out of me that she is going for..
Judi... they charged her with child endangerment I believe.
I don't know, systems are crazy, I can see her being charged with child abuse... or at least having to deal with CPS
Probably won't go to trial or anything if they get counseling... she is a big-time corporate attorney.
Yes, I saw that mom2. I don't think the Judge will make it stick, though. Unless she has a habit of doing such things.
No, absolutely...and, hey, who couldn't benefit from a little free counseling???
she's an attorney????? interesting - wow, she really lost her cool
Well, my husband also said that while he understood her frustration he hoped that she was just someone who reached the end of her rope and that it was an isolated incident... that we don't come to find out that she is some kind of lunatic.
Yes KJE, which is why I think she ended up going home and reporting the kid "missing"... she knew her actions would be chargeable as child endangerment... of course she did not expect that the kid was in the PD in the next town already spilling her story!
Rotten kid!
then she dropped the kids a whole town away??? wow, that is scary
I am now more glad than ever for my parents.
yeah... but she lives in Spring Valley and dropped them in White Plains... not exactly the middle of nowhere and they should have been able to find their way home rather easily...
So now some guy sees this kid crying on the side of the road, the kid tells the story, and he takes her to the PD...
my parents would never have put us in or left us in danger.... I remember when I was a teenager and decided I was going to drive to houston (4.5 hours away) for a concert and the car broke down... they came and got me. a girlfriend had a similar incident just on the other side of dallas and also wasn't suppose to be there and her parents made her find her own way home - that is when I stopped wishing for other parents as a teenager... at least mine didn't punish me until I got home and was safe
Maybe she went back and looked for her and she wasn't on the road so she reported her missing.. I don't know.
Also, KJE my parents would have absolutely done the same thing in that situation... but that is a different situation.
I don't know that broad daylight in white plains is the same thing.
she dropped an 8 year old in another town! granted, she probably thought the 12 year old would stay with her, but OMG! an 8 year old cannot find her way home that far
I think she was 10... and my 10 year old could have found her way home in a heartbeat... actually my kid could have found her way home at 5 or 6... she used to play this game in the car where she would tell me where to turn to get home...
Can I get a clue for the te5/10, please?
Not defending her actions, just saying that things are not always what they seem or what is reported... we shall see.
OMG... gotta get back to the grid... I only found 2 words this whole time, LOL!
te5 - brief and curt
agreed mom2 - things are often not as they seeem
Ty. I'll take a fish slap to go with my fireworks!
good for you Judi...I got fireworks yesterday....it's always nice!
last word, help please? second de6/30
woohoo!!! and mackerel!
Time for more coffee and to update the checkbook. Stop me before I have too much fun!
And you always miss the obvious ones I have noticed!
de + sc4
thanks kj
yw
woohoo flosey!!!
I saw a quote about coffee the other day... I think it said something like coffee... gives you the ability to do stupid things faster and with less focus or something like that... it made me laugh.
Heyas kids
fireworks - and now I can enjoy my first coffee of the day
faster and with more focus - LOL
hi BGH
enjoy
yeah.. maybe that was it kje... more enthusiasam and more focus for the stupid things...
lol, Mom2. I have a postcard on my fridge that says: "Drink Coffee. Do stupid things faster with more energy." I also have another one that says, "Make yourself at home. Clean my kitchen."
I was looking for a nice wooden sign for my kitchen... I want the one that says Life just hasn't been the same since they dropped that house on my sister... couldn't find it, but found that one and another one I really liked which was, "I need minions"... LOL!
That is the quote Judi... and I like both of them!
when it comes to the things I must do but don't like I just put on some great music - nice and loud - military marches work for me
My mother used to clean to The Stray Cats... it was a sight to see!
I just got a cute sign that says "Wishes won't do dishes"... so I hung it over my sink... so far my daughter and my husband are still wishing and I'm still dishing, LOL!
lol. That reminds me of the scene in "Mrs. Doubtfire" where Mrs. D was vacuuming to the tune of "Dude Looks Like A Lady" by Aerosmith. Hysterical.
I use to clean to winton marssalis classical album
Yes... That's about the size of it Judi...
I also use Il Divo - but hubby doesn't like it so can only play when he's not in
I really like classical music, but don't know that I could clean to it, LOL!
classical trumpet - very rousing
flosey... heard of them but not familiar with them... listen, whatever gets you through the day!
Get an IPod, Flosey. That way you can tune into the music and tune out the hubby!
I love my IPOD Nano
lol, good idea Judi - then if he wan't my attention he has to be right in my face!
and smiling sweetly I might add
Be jealous, bichon - be very jealous. I have an ITouch. *sticks tongue out*
off to get that well deserved coffee - bfn
My daughter makes fun of my iPod... I have a relic.. I think it was the original (used to be my husbands until he got the super duper one).
Me too! *POOF*
ihave an iphone and an ipod... so there
I don't care.. it works.
Cool KJE!
I swear that thing will be able to drive your car soon!
they last forever mom2 - they never seem to die, and if they do, the genius bar tweeks it and poof it works again
I have a friend who has one of the 1st gen ones and everytime she thinks it has died it resurrects
Now, if it only had an application that would rid the average 13 year old of the snotty behavior!
Yes... I actually lost mine for a time... found it and thought it would never recharge... it did and nothing was lost, LOL!
love 'em thru it... heaping coals and all that
I think this one is a first generation.. it's not the nano.. I think it is 1 gig (???).
love apple - collest in every way
Oh, I know KJE... but it is like living with Sybil! My husband said she was fine last night... I was out at a tricky tray (and actually won a few things, thank you very much) so maybe it is my presence that makes her nutty!
wow, 1 gig - LOL... mine is 80
amazing what they can do these days... will never fill the thing
I want to get a laptop and my daughter is trying to convince us to get Apple.
ahhhhhhhhh, the luxury, have been up for an hour and first coffee!
80 gig??? Wow! I think my husband has the 40 gig
I just recently got my first ipod. It's a green nano! so pretty! and 16GB
I love my Mac - but depends on what apps you need to use
they are really great... i love the solitaire game on it... keeps me busy while waiting for things...
it'll take a bit of getting use to mom, I used my daughter's while in Vancouver couple weeks ago and really frustrated
that is cool mag - 16gb in something so small
I would like to upgrade to the touch because I hear that you can upload books to it... I used to do that on my Palm Pilot and liked it
and I feel frustrated on a PC - too many steps to do what my Mac does intuitively
Sorry to interrupt! May I have clues for those nasty F's?
i can't read on one of those - i like holding a book
ah, perhaps all in what you start out with
fy 4 and 5
My husband is fighting her on it... I don't really care. I just want to be able to have the versatility of a laptop... and I want my dining room back... my monitor is a dinosaur and the whole thing just takes up too much space!
TY KJE! Got 'em!
yw
My DH just got a Kindle 2...that thing is AMAZING!
You know I thought I would hate it, but I didn't.. and it has a backlight so no fumbling for the book light... I understand with the iTouch you can make the font bigger, which you can't with the Palm.. which is why I abandoned it, ultimately... don't want to wear my reading glasses in bed...
But the kindle is proprietery, no??? Meaning that you have to rent from their site??? with the palm you could go right through the local library website and the books would upload right to the palm (for free), which is how I understand the iTouch works
in the end, Macs are cheaper, b/c you get so much more for your money without having to do all the upgrades, and most repair is negligible, and you can always use the genius bar for free... unlike dell, etc
KJE... I have put my husband on the research... I keep hearing great things about the Mac laptops...so, we shall see...
It's the initial outlay of $$$ that scares him, LOL!
daughter switched and loves the mac
He really wants to go with the traditional computer on the table and I just don't want to do that again... I really don't have the room if I can avoid it.
All the kids love their macs
but compare the price of a similar machine... it is cheaper. that is what I did years ago, the PCs look cheaper b/c they are advertising really minimal machines... once you upgrade memory and graphics, etc... you end up costing more than a Mac
and laptops are awesome, no matter which kind... FREEDOM
we're looking for one, think I'll wait until I'm in Toronto and son can help me
Well I agree... but he has to come to that realization himself.... a little psychology on my part! But, yes, I agree that I want the freedom!
It's always good to get advice from one who knows flosey.
he understands them and also knows what his old mom is capable of understanding
I use my brother in law for that kind of thing... I just have to get him on the Apple bandwagon before my husband talks to him, LOL!
We bought my 85-year-old mother-in-law a Mac and she loves it!
ah, here's my daughter IM to me
bfn
just FYI - no Babble Expert for Mac...
By we I mean his family up in Massachusetts.. we just sent a check!

I'm going to see Lizsark in a few weeks :):):):):)
Cool!
I am SO jealous!!
Are you going there, or she coming to you, or meeting in a neutral third place?
Of course we will want a full report.
AND PICTURES!!!
going there!!!!!!!!!
And pictures.
*runs to lurk mode again*
this justifies excessive exclamation mark usage
Very cool.
It's a bit late for that, stidmama. You've blown your cover.

Hi/bye? stiddy?? *lip quivver*
Hobbit gets to meet Oscar!

Lovely to see you stiddy :)
(((((FM)))))) hi there all. I am really NOT supposed to be here, I am supposed to be either reading or working outside in the garden.
gr4 - if it ended in some it would be horrifying
LOL poor kitty
some people are just a gr***** for punishment LOL
Yeah, well, I'm supposed to be typing up labels. But here we are.
Stid, GR 4...a yucky murder scene is very GR**some; plural for the GR 5

Yay for stidmama!

de6/33 - LAtin legion something or other, ends like quicksilver
hi stid car etc. I was off working and the chog filled up
thanks againVi. hello jmc
Hello, jmc
Great clue, Vi!
pretty much, FM. allowed myself to NOT study on Tuesday and now feeling VERY behind again. AND I need to pull the two-week unit I teach to the sixth graders together. Before Monday. I am SOOOO behind. But that, at least, will be fun. I love creative writing and natural history. in combination, it's a real kick.
hi vic didn't mean to miss you
Hi JMC!
hi car!
is the DE 6/30 #2 very fishy?
That sounds like a really fun combination, stidmama.
not to me stid
the de6/30 is elementary, my dear Watson.
that's the first DE 6/30, I need the second.
Er, I mean stidmama.
is that the 2nd one?
but thanks.
it's my last D word. down to 26
No, didn't see you needed second. second is de + consonant + weep
friendly little grid, nicer with assistance as always.
(At least, that's my second.)
*puts on stern voice* Stidy you can do it just don't over angst yourself if you feel things are getting on top of you. Remember to give yourself a break form time to time!
AHA! thanks Vi!
Ata so when are you going over to Sark?
LOL FM, yes, thanks. (((hugs))) that's why I am here.
23rd May!
One month exactly!
so the trips are eating pizza...and it's hilarious. i didn't know kids could get pizza sauce all the way up their arms!
what fun, Atalante! I hope you bring fair weather, apparently the crossing can be a bit rough at times.
*grin* funny, magyk!
GR 7?
dont tell me that ...
You shouldn't have told them to "dive in!" I guess.
Too funny Magyk!
gr7/40 - as Jen said, "You're a gr7 for punishment."
I guess Vi. They are loving it tho! Have to change them for the second time today!
I didn't understand that clue earlier either *sigh*
Is stidmere well stiddy? do send her my best.
Okay, gr7 - rhymes with sheep meat
Not glutton for punishment, but the word sounds the same.
thanks FM, she is well. She LOVES being retired and spending lots of time with the stidkids.
ty car and vi
lamb? mutton?
(Diff last vowel, of course...)
DIng ding ding.
OH! GOT IT! thanks!
Stid...use the GR instead of GL and change the last vowel.
is there a cr before the cross 6 letter one?
second ST 7?
I have that as my first CR word...but I still have a couple of C's left.

desperation and guilt, Atalante, are great motivators!
i think thats the same time we will be there! we are gonna be in the whalehead area
oh dear, the sun has left! *sob* my punishment for dallying.
We are going to be on the Crystal Coast. Emerald Isle.
okay, gotta go. thanks all, and see you soon! *poof*
If something can be inscrutable, then surely I should be able to scrute something else.
did you have the list?
ty
not sure where that is...
nbt
hi all - trying to wrangle my last 7 without the list
hi josh
me too josh
I think stidmama said she got the list after nbt, Ata.
It is the southern most area of NC. Coast runs east and west.
Me too Joshua...down to 14 here.
oh good. that makes me feel better!
ahh, not OBX, then?
11 for me...
i've been to the crystal coast
No, it's not.
Great place, Josh.
My head is pounding though...may need to come back. I feel stuck.
is it near OBX? im totally clueless of the geography down there. :)
it might look like it's close, but in actuality it's hours of driving
guess that prevents a babble meet-up, then...heh
Probaby.
It's three hours from RDU.
that means nothing to me...lol...other than OBX, i have no knowledge of the area...
Well, stuck at 8. Time for a break. Bye for now, all.
bye dear!
tell me its 3 hours from Dirty Dicks Crabhouse, and then i know what youre talking about...hehe
1 left - 3 of the last 6 i've "found" were words i entered last night but must not have registered
and so was the last one - fireworks
i hate it when that happens. i could have finished last night
yay josh
hello, need help with 2nd de6/30 pls
de add a const. and tears
ata -- kitty is looking mighty comfy in your icon today. :)
isn't she just :D that basket is where she lounges around for most of the day
thanks cheryl
yw
phone took picture of kitty but now wont send to email
makes me want to scream
im envious of her lifestyle. youre a darn good parent to the lounging kitty + the beach-dwelling Hobbit. ;)
I try! I'd love to be her as well. Perfect life!
Hobbit's had a wonderful week this week. The weather has been gorgeous, so we've spent esach morning down at the beach for a few hours
my parents live on the waterfront now also...before their dog passed, she LOVED running along the shore. i wish i were closer to the beach!
beaches are the best for dogs. every day I see people walking along the path at the top of the beach with their dog on a leash, and it's so sad. It takes 5 minutes to wash a dog off after its rolled around the beach!
ST7/28, please?
our dog , Domino, never even rolled. in fact, she was kind of afraid of the water. but she loved walking along the sand + poking around the shells, stones + whatever else she could find... and i loved walking her there whenever i visited because i would just browse around for seaglass...
exactly ... there's just so much for a dog to love on the beach. sniffs, smells, rockpools, crabs, sea ...
we are headed down there this weekend. my brother will bring his dog, but shes too much of a powerhouse for me -- pitbull rottie mix. sweet dog, but huge + too energetic!
eeep yes!
we met a newfie on the beach yesterday. hobbit was quite amazed that a dog could be so big
i saw, i think it was a great dane? whatever it was, it was by FAR the largest dog i have ever seen. on all fours, its back was almost as high as my shoulders. i thought it was a small horse!
sounds like a great dane! they are HUGE
i knew they were big, but i guess i never actually saw one. WOW.
yeah .... they are quite a sight
just popping in- a friend of mine had a great dane when we were little and her dad would hold us up over his back like we were pretending to ride him and it was like being on a pony
he was enormous and for some odd reason I remember that his name was Frederick
which is bigger - great dane or one of the huge huge mastiffs?
not sure Ata, those mastiffs are BIG dogs
i cant imagien another dog being larger than the one i saw! good gracious!
I once came across 3 of them in a pack - the only time I've ever felt a little bit scared of dogs
Irish Wolfhounds can be bigger than great danes.
I will stick with my shepherd/collie mix. She's my love.
My border collie is my best boy ever.
same here, ata -- im not the least bit afraid of dogs, but when i saw that one, i backed away slowly...lol
I've seen the Irish Wolfhounds on the dog shows on TV and figured they were quite large.
eva: http://tinyurl.com/cufzny
wolfhounds are quite big. scottish deerhounds are bigger
My Blossom is a rescue dog and she is, literally, the best dog I have ever had. I wish I wasn't landlocked. She would love a good ball game on the beach :-)
awwwwww
st7=st4 past tense
I got my Quid as a rescue dog, too.
Gail- I thin sometimes rescue dogs are just more appreciative because they sense that things might not have worked out too well for them otherwise :-)
The best thing about her though is that she guards my kids like they were her children. She spends the whole night patrolling back and forth between their bedrooms.
Quid is just the happiest thing ever. He wakes up happy and goes to sleep happy. (Keeps me happy, too.)
that's awesome Gail~!
awwwwwww
evening everyone
I'm stuck at 43. I think I'll do a bit of laundry and bbl
hi katie!
My 2 boys just got into my Arbonne inventory...they have foundation makeup everywhere!
how you doing?
brb
Clue for the SU 6/21 please?
su6 unexpected
Have that 6/27...need the last SU which is 6/21.
car - what the did to make your coat soft...
a kind of dog...irish se**** ?
the should be "they"
I believe I have that one too. It is past tense of the SU 5 before it?
su6/21 - throwing the widom ont he funeral pyre
*on the
widow
Yeeps.
I have no idea what that means Vi?!?!?!
su + double consonant + double vowel
typos abound!
ANd after that I give up.
i've a tiny pup on my lap!
It was good enough Vi! Got it and FIREWORKS!
car -- a belated "yes"
Yay for car.eeyore!
Yay!
yay car!!!
hi all, not really here again, but saw car's BIG FINISH!
okay, wandering off again. back tomorrow... *poof*
this is not boding well for the long work-night i have coming ahead. my coworker just asked me to verify an email, which is something i do very regularly for her, and i completely could NOT find the folder that the email was in. even though it was in the exact same place it is always in. *shakes head*
did you see the link I left for you, Eva? Of the mastiff?
ooh, i didnt. got sidetracked by a coworker...
Taking a break, taking a break, taking a break from my can. lit. studies.
oh, jeepers! please tell me that is somehow photoshopped or an optical illusion!! thats just HUGE!!
nope! huggge!
uniiii!
Knocking out this grid so I can return to studies. Final exam is in...3.5 hours.
final? wonderful!!!
It's true. More wonderful is the fact that my French exam took half as long as anticipated. I am so ready for a nap!
nap on your book. learn by osmosis.
lol good idea
If only!
You should nap on that lost e-mail, we could all learn this way!
i did it OFTEN back in college. and i still managed to finish in 4 years. :)
of course, i was an english major, so much of my work was just making stuff up. ;)
so's uni :P
gr7 please?
*Is an english major. Finishing third year. Too much practical stuff for my liking this set of exams.
well, there ya go! i like to say i received my BA in BS. :)
:) CanLit isn't that hard, it is just frustrating to wait for essay exams. Hard to prepare for.
And I already wrote an exam today. I am tired.
yes, its tough to prepare for an exam where you just hafta write an essay on an unknown question. just make sure you know your dates + general government/political/social stuff.
I got mine in scientific BS
(and yes, "stuff" is a technical term.)
Yours came with a title though :)
yeah BSc in BS :P PhD was after that
Ahh, that was not in stuff then
the BF is hoping to go back soon for his PhD... guess that means i should get off my arse + get my masters...
HAH! Just got the et5/6. French for study/studies. Perfect for my day.
one of my finals questions was "discuss reproduction in barnacles" 3 hour essay.
think of what a joy that was to grade, ata
Do we even know how barnacles reproduce?? You should have written a theoretical on the colossal squid.
hah, thanks uni -- i didnt have those yet, and was figuring with those letter combos that there would be some francais in there!
oh I know full well, harry!
4 left...seem to be stuck
clue please for the first de6?
de + marie and pierre *****, misspelled
There, it was my last word. de + the planet-mer****
ty ata :)

Did the grid in less than half an hour (with list help for expediency). Very nice little guy, wish I had time to value it more. Le fin.
yay uni

yay Uni!
ty uni :)
2nd st7?
st + the car - co*v****
ty again uni :)
and I'm outta here
That your last? Hoorah!!
how do you play this
Help! My work blocks Lickety's list. Any help with the G's and the H's?
brb
Look in the grid of tiles on the left and search out words that are four or more letters, made of connecting (but not repeated) tiles. Similar to boggle. Further helpis available from Angelsongs babble page (found below the grid) and the help icon above chat.
Shan -- words must be at least 4 letters long, tiles must be touching, and you can use each tile only once per word.
Kitty, that's gr***ome (and singular). The gr 7 is clued just below.
Then find the song from church and it's past tense.
Thanks, Uni!
Man, cluing is more fun than more studying. If only I were paid per clue!
uni -- ive always had the theory that if they either (1) taught class like pop-up video or (2) set the lessons to catchy music, id know EVERYTHING
I took a class on the history of rock and roll last year. Now that was some useless but lovely knowledge!
how fun!
i took a class called "The Rhetoric of Humor"
I took a class called ... um, actually you probably don't want to know. They were all fishy.
Oh my! Eva, your niece and nephews (I think that's what they are?) are so big! I always forget that time actually passes in babble land too.
ty for the gr7..finally got it!
afternoon everyone :)
hi Jes!
tell me about it uni! Sid, the oldest, just turned 4 on Saturday. Padraig is 2 1/2, and Laida turned 1 in January. im flabbergasted every time i see them!
howsit, ata?
Laida is so ridiculously cute. I hate when kids grow up when I am not paying attention!
Alright. I ought to get back to work again, I believe. Catch you all again tomorrow, happy gridding!
good good! got any new waifs and strays?
good luck uni dearest!
uhm.. new since when? Still working on paying off the broken legged pom
Laida is just gorgeous. that girl was born with a FULL head of hair. she always looks so much older to me...

For the B's I have br 4/7, br 5/16, br 6/30. What am I missing, please?

* What is a vampire's favorite fruit? * Neck-tarines.
Ugh
What's blue and looks like a bucket?
heh, nono. we have a deployment tonight. deployments always happen on thursdays. and due to the other field offices throughout the country, have to happen at night so as not to disturb employees usual working hours. we will start here at 7pm.

I remembered that the other day and my first thought was "I must tell BR!"
hi Gape
thank you thank you
Hey there jesdraggon.
hello, gapeach, hope your day has been most pleasant
yours reminds me of my favourite joke of childhood "What's brown and sticky?"
cr6/27 is like what you walk on with a broken leg, but missing all the tall letters.
mud?
a stick!
*groan*
Hi there, BabbleRabble. Day is going OK. Been raining a lot lately....tends to drag ones spirits down a little. But I have y'all. So, if thing aren't going well....I get on the Chatterbox and I'm always cheered up. Thanks for asking.
my poor mother, I probably told her that about a million times as a kid
great clue Jes - TY
<--- rushes off to relate that to her cousin
thanks, lynxxx. i'd clue the meaning but i have no idea what it is! :)
i'm sure my cousin will tell her daughter, she's got a toddler, and loves jokes like that
the best jokes are the simplest
plural of crux - who knew!
one cr 6 is a town in new mexico: las ******
really? interesting
Hi there, lynxxx.
Hi all. Boss ran out for a moment. So while the boss is away.... you know the rhyme. Could someone please clue the 1st de?

I hate it when I am nearly half way and then discover that there is no lickety's list lol
de8.45
today Katie? just looked, it's there
Thanks lynxxx, now time to puzzle it out.
Oh thank goodness for that I thought from kittybat's post it wasn't up today :-)
No, my work just blocks access to most game related sites. Babble used to be locked, but just popped up available one day. Someone in IT must play... ; )
Oh just got the de8 all by myself
you're safe :)
we used to be able to get babble and then the meanies blocked it, but we can get facebook go figure!

why is crudette not a word? am I misspelling again?
crudite is not in the grid
is it crudite
so I can't spell is the answer -- no news there! lol
unless you mean a female crud
it's not in the dictionary either lol
lol dinok
so even if it was there you still couldn't have it
my spelling is on a couple of cooking webpages
(ps dinok pb)
its the Texas accent spelling
Maybe because it is a french word, one that isn't allowed
oops :/ .didnt think that was a word. cyall when I get out of the pb...
don't eat all the cookies
im on a diet so i'll stick to the crudettes
lynxx you got to be kidding there are french words on this grid and all grids
I suffer all the time because of the french!
this is different though. this is non-enable french
actually the correct spelling is crudites
lol ata
when I go to restaurants in DC the server will frequently "correct" my pronunciation of crudites
how rude of them!
uh ata
ata pb!
and lynxxx wins the prize for getting a word not in the grid but which enable recognises
And Ata lands in the PB ..
do you tell them where to put their correction?
we went for a meal last night and as we went up to pay the manager laughed and said if we had a voucher we would have saved a fortune.
I just tell them that my pronunciation is correct in many parts of the country and that when I am not pissed off I am a good tipper
Let's just say we would rather starve than eat there again
don't care! it *is* ru4 of them!
did she tell you whre to find the voucher at least?
May I please have a clue for the ed's, either of them? Thanks
Did you leave a tip? like don't bother to correct customers pronunciation if you want one
I agree ata is it
no just laughed!
lol lynx
I'm only starting and the eds are not done yet. Hello to all however you pronounce words.
I always leave something but not my usual well padded tip
hi stid
hi peach
Thanks anyway, stidgmere.
Hi there, jmcnrick.
we didn't leave anything, the portions were small the service was poor and then the laughing over the voucher thing was the final straw
Nothing like a georgia peach!
What did he mean voucher? Is it a coupon for a discount?
ed+ Robert the Br*** and then pl
ed5 = de6/30-d
Right on, stidgmere!
ed5 & 6 are de6 & 7 without the d
hi Stidgmere

yeah laughing seems a little much
Thanks torgone and pythonx.
yes, stidgmere, I would think so
Hi lynxxx. Hope you are well. I am almost ready to take stidgrandson to music lessons. Husband is grumpy.
It would be a kindness to drop them a note Katie, perhaps they might survive if they get some feedback
yw, peach
particlarly grumpy or generally grumpy?
they might send you some vouchers!
Particularly. Nothing pleases.
rats I am still short and e word!
I must admit last night I was going to do it but I'm very british that way, don't complain but never go back!
Lock him in a darkened room till he snaps out of it

oh it was a laugh a minute. if the building were higher i would have considered leaping off. only high enough to cause injury LOL
de6,33?
glad to hear that...I guess! :)
de 6/33 de+ indian cusine minus a double letter
we have a height limit on the buildings in this town - guess it is for a reason. LOL
sounds like they might have thought about the leaping when they did that!
actually we are a histoical town so they try really hard to keep things authentic and old
ah! we only have on building here that's taller than 5 or 6 stories also...and i'm glad for it!
we are limited to 3 stories
nice! where in Mass are you?
plymouth - land of the pilgrims and thanksgiving dinner
ah...hence the historic...:)
hi angela
yup old and simple here
hi jmc
something to be said for that...
height limit here in DC nothing taller than the washington monument
i thouhgt that it was nothing taller than the statue of justice - at least that is what they told us once on a tour there
brb
i love dc, are you right in the city?
the rule is nothing taller than capital dome (except washington monument)
my nephew was just in DC for his class trip
see ya pay for a tour and they lie to ya
as a practical matter, that means nothing over 12 stories inside the city
i would like to go back again it is so much fun
we are all wrong the law was amended to The Act was amended in 1910 to restrict building height to the width of the adjacent street plus 20 feet
??? strange law...
though that's from ground level - the National cathedral is up on a high hill, and it's tower is further above sea level than the capital dome
width of the street + 20 feet .... hmmmm is that in case it topples over+
I think it is to keep things in proportion
you can really tell where Maryland begins because the buildings shoot up
gr7?
like my idea better avoids a mess shoudl something happen timber.....
lol knit
now to figure out which side of the street to be on should there be a timberrrrr situation....hmmmm...
ne4 one last cr word
DC is the most disproporttionate place i have ever been. objects are much further apart than they appear just asked my kids when i tried to make them walk between places that looked so close

and just a hint of garlic
now i have moved onto food - near and dear to my heart
when my husband was at Mass general I would leave him every day and walk to little italy and buy lunch and stuff for supper
ooo jmc, my kind of walk
yum!
when I got to the apartment that night I would make something good and fresh for my son and me.
